Great Customer Service 10/10 food was very delicious and hot so good definitely will be back highly recommend and also make reservations if plan on going

What a great find in Rogers Park! We had a party of 6 and had a reservation. (I recommend a reservation as this place can get busy.) We were seated promptly and started with cheesecake bits with our coffee. Delicious! We tried the french toast sampler. Perfect for six hungry folks to get a portion. The food portions are large, so be prepared to take some home. Food was delicious, service was great and the atmosphere was fun. The restaurant was decorated with fresh flowers which added a nice touch.

Found this place by accident and soooo thankful we did. The service was incredible. Our son's birthday was yesterday and they made a big to do and brought a huge smile to his face. They brought him Silly Putty and a bowl of fruit to keep him entertained while we looked over the menu. I had the cookie batter banana French toast and honey coconut latte and had a total Meg Ryan moment at the table. To say the food was fabulous was an understatement. My favorite daughter had the California crepe and sand it was the best thing she ever ate. My other daughter had the oatmeal with bananas and loved it. My husband had the chicken fried chicken because he hates breakfast and rarely gives compliments on food and was literally in a food happy coma. Then they brought the little guy dessert and sang happy birthday. We will definitely be back here!

Honeybear quickly became our favorite spots. The food is fresh and locally sourced as much as possible. The coffee is AMAZING and they serve fresh orange juice that reminds me of breakfast in cafes in Europe. The service is excellent. The entire staff observe extreme sanitation measures!

If you like breakfast, you’ll love this place. Waffles, pancakes, French toast, crepes, omelets, skillets and that’s just for starters. Good coffee, helpful friendly servers, cool decor, mellow atmosphere (but busy and sometimes loud). The menu is immense, the portions are huge, and they serve lunch too! (They close early afternoon.) We went on a Wednesday morning about 10 AM and it was nearly full, I can't imagine how packed it is on weekends.

This place is probably the best brunch I have ever had! The menu is tough, cause there seems to now be a bad thing on it! No worries, Heather, the waitress, will help guide you to an amazing meal! The portions are massive, but so are the flavors! Listen to me, if they tell you it’s a 1/2 hour to an hour wait, STAY AND WAIT! I suggest the skillet, they are outstanding! I also suggest the Churro French toast! Wow! It’s really too bad I can’t give this place 10 stars! You cannot chose wrong here, but get ready for an amazing meal!

Stopped in for breakfast. Really cute restaurant. Excellent food. Omelette was huge and fluffy, salsa verde had great flavor. We had Enrique as our server, excellent service also!

We came here on a recent trip! One of the cutest breakfast places I’ve ever seen! Huge portions, friendly staff and so many options to choose from!!!!

Overall, great experience.... Great food, large portions...you will NOT leave hungry, nice atmosphere and the service was great. I got the patty melt and fries...but they weren't your standard issue fries! They were crispy, double fried, thick, spiral cut fries and were among the best i've had in a very long time. I asked for well done, and the burger came well done (i've found most restaurants don't get it right)....my only beef (pun!) is it wasn't a true patty melt. It was basically a burger/fixins between 2 slices of bread, not grilled like a grilled cheese. My son got the grilled chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries...all good. And my sister got the waffles and chicken and she said it was excellent. My wife got a salad and it was great too. Also included was a bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo, which was great and filling...i had hardly any more room for the entree! Honeybear was super crowded on an early Friday afternoon, and there was a constant stream of customers arriving the entire 1 1/2 hours we were there... Even thought the prices were a bit high, considering the portion sizes, i feel it was still a decent value. I had half my meal for lunch the next day. Highly recommend!

We ordered The Sloppy Skillet and CatFish cheese and grits. They both were large portions and delicious. The entire staff was friendly and personable. A fresh flower on each table and greeted with a petite desert bite. Worth stopping into this hidden gem.

Had breakfast here this morning. I cannot say enough good about the restaurant. From the minute we sat down, the service was great. The menu includes everything you can imagine. We had some of the skillets and upgraded to the French toast. The biscuit with chorizo gravy is not to missed. It was excellent!

This place was absolutely amazing! I had the strawberry French toast and it was the best I have ever had and I have been to a lot of places. My daughter and her boyfriend share some chilaquiles and it was massive and so good! I would go here at least every week if I lived in Chicago!

This is a welcomed addition to the Rogers Park community. Most importantly the food is wonderful if you can choose from the many great selections…..and just as important the coffee is good!. It’s bustling with activity with sit down customers and take out. Their mantra is EAT WELL…LIVE WELL. You will do both when you share a feast with friends and family at Honeybear Cafe. It was a great start to my Mother’s Day💗

I was impressed with the sheer amount of choices for breakfast. Upon arrival the bite size pieces of strawberry shortcake were a nice touch, the service was very good and the food was even better. Prepare for a wait during prime times as from I was told it’s always busy. After eating there, I understand why!

Honeybear Cafe is a modern American diner that has earned such awards as "best cafe in Chicago" and "best breakfast in Chicago" while satisfying customers in the Rogers Park neighborhood for five decades. Located at 7036 North Clark Street, it has been under the care of George and Prudence since they assumed ownership from the original owners in 2020. Open from 7:30 to 2:30 Monday through Friday and 7:30 to 3:30 on Saturday and Sunday, Honeybear Cafe offers an extensive menu of comfort food, including omelettes, skillets, waffles, crepes, French toast, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, scramblers, bennys and steak and eggs. My favorites are Classic Eggs Benedict with a toasted English muffin topped with griddled Canadian bacon, two poached eggs and home-made creamy hollandaise sauce with smoked sausage, the Skirt Steak Skillet with a tender piece of skirt steak, mushrooms, green bell peppers, onions and mozzarella cheese topped with two scrambled eggs and corned beef hash and scrambled eggs with an English muffin, hash browns and sausage links. Start it all off with a bowl of old fashioned oatmeal with milk and brown sugar and a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. It's a Rogers Park tradition unlike any other.

Charming cafe, great atmosphere, huge portions of delicious food. What more could anyone ask for! We enjoyed a couples outting and were not disappointed.

They have the very best of everything. Alway fresh and delicious. Very friendly and the food is delicious. The Chorizo skillet is amazing. The food is a very reasonably priced for the quality and quantity.. They are survivors and I am sooo glad.

I received a mini chocolate chip cheesecake upon arrival. It was delicious after breakfast dessert. I ordered the RP Strong and couldn’t finish the large meal in one sitting. The french toast and scramblers will be my next choice to try. Lovely atmosphere and great service.

First of all, be aware that the portions at this restaurant are HUGE! If you aren't stuffed after your meal, you aren't trying :) I found out later that some of the meals are available in a half portion, which would be good to know for next time. I loved that I could get an excellent meal that fit my prediabetic diet (ie, no white bread, potatoes, etc). Great service, too. Check out the beautiful mural on the wall outside!

Decided to go for a run up to Honey bear from the city centre, based on the great reviews read here. I was quickly sat in a booth by the window, and promptly served coffee whilst I chose my breakfast. I went with an off menu omlette and a side of French toast. The portion was large, and had loads of filling.

We had heard good things about Honeybear so tried the brunch. An overwhelmingly large menu of choices. We had a range of waffles, skillets, and croissants, and the food was generally delicious and plentiful. The room was loud enough that we practically had to shout to be heard and the tables were packed tightly. We had a noon reservation and they seated us 15-20 minutes late, not too bad on a busy Sunday. My only major complaint was that they snuck in a 20% tip on a party of six without mentioning it, then asked for a tip on the tableside credit card machine, handing it to me with the Tip screen showing, with big buttons for 20%, 25%, etc. If I hadn't happened to review the bill for a few seconds as she stood at the table, I'd have ended up giving her a 40% tip. I think that's pretty crappy.

Hostess offers up some hand sanitizer upon seating you. They have an extensive menu. Started off with fresh squeezed OJ from elsewhere, but it tastes like Tropicana. We ordered the caramel latte, fresh veggie skillet, scrambled eggs, with banana crunch pancake, vegan tofu scrambler and stuffed avocado with corn chowder soup. This could be our only meal for the day. Booths are separated. The counter is blocked for seating. The corn chowder isn’t bad, creamy, warm and comforting. The fork wrapped in my napkin appears to have some caked on chocolate from a previous guest, revolting to think how poorly washed this fork in front me is. I think this is a good spot to ask for plastic wrapped wares. The hash browns are soggy and wilted and not crispy or well done at all, they are too soggy for me. I asked them to get crisped up again. The second batch and was unfortunately all burnt and hard and not enough balance, it was all overcooked, not just crispy on the top. The banana crunch pancakes are stuffed with fresh bananas, a drizzle of caramel, granola provides the crunch. The pancakes are thick and billowy and dense, not bad for GF. Tofu scrambler was the best part of the meal, nicely cooked and a bit of heat from the jalapeños. The stuffed avocados with the chicken salad was good, nice crunch from the celery, slightly sweet from the raisins, not overly creamy and just the right balance for this healthish avocado salad. The fresh veggie skillet was tasty, all fresh veggies and very cheesy. Two of the cooks, one with a black and white cap, no cap in the back kitchen have their masks around their chins, isn’t that great. We have a party seated right behind us in the short booths. Hmm. One lady was using her hands and a spatula to take the biscuits or whatever baked goods off the baking pan. They give you a total for cash vs. credit card, that’s a load of crap. Our waiter was nice, but the $2 up charge for the credit card fee (~4%) is rather offensive and irksome to me. I feel like I am at those stupid gas stations that charge less for cash buyers and punish the credit card users. I had to wait for the hostess to finish her food order call before she would wait on me.

A Rogers Park institution and it shows! The food is amazing and the ambiance is arguably better. If there on a Sunday, add your name to the wait list about 30 minutes before you need to be there!
Christmas Day breakfast at Honeybear
A perfect way to start Christmas Day is at Honeybear. The team are amazing, the restaurant festive, and the portions huge. I went with an Omlette stuffed with bacon, chorizo and cheese. With a side of hash and cookie butter pancakes. Safe to say I wasn't running afterwards, and didn't need to eat until dinner time.
