Good Choice if You're in the Area

By ALP1991 |

The Chinatown area of Seattle is not a really upscale place, but that's not to say don't visit. We went to check the area out and were not overly impressed. Nonetheless, it was fun to walk around. There are many restaurant choices in the area, and they all seemed very authentic and generally pretty rustic. This one appeared as good or better than others so we gave it a try. The prices were fair and the food was tasty. We ordered from the menu, although we saw quite a few patrons choosing the all-you-can-eat bowls. Those seemed to be quite popular and I think would be a very good value. I would return, but likely I would try something in a different part of the city first.

The most terrible restaurant in Seattle.

By Nhu Ngo |

We came by party of 4 adults and 1 infant baby on Tuesday morning. The food was not special as they reviewed, looked like it normal as another Cantonese restaurant. But their service made me surprise! When we were checking out, we would like to send them more tips by cash, that was why I put $2 in the payment device and cash was on the table, but the waitress did shout at me in front of another customers. She asked for more tips. The tips I gave was not enough for her. I took the bill and the tips, talked to the supervisor at that time and asked her to double check that they still took cash. ( It was funny when I had to ask the question that I knew the answer lol). I used to visit this restaurant a lots of time but on different shift time. For sure, I "made" their days like the way they did to my family and me. They always busy and have lots of customer, also we have lots of options to come to enjoy Cantonese food. Never never come back.

BEST Dim Sum ever!

By Jean B |

The dim sum in this establishment is beyond delicious. I and my 2 compatriots ordered 5 dishes from the huge variety offered. We were all stuffed with yummy food and the total bill was $30. I dare you to beat that! Wish I lived closer. I would be a regular!

Good dim sum

By Hongkongee |

Located in Seattle Chinatown Hong Kong Bistro is surprisingly good. I was here once but it was so early and there were only a few people. Today the restaurant is packed. The dim sum are hot and fresh. The waiters and servers are very friendly and helpful. The dim sum is probably the best I have had on Seattle and the set up is more roomy than others in Seattle

Ask what's in each dish you're ordering

By MEK9992013 |

I was traveling with a friend who doesn't like shrimp so I tried to order items that didn't have shrimp. The descriptions weren't very good and the servers didn't seem to speak much English so I took a chance and ordered some dumplings and soup. Unfortunately, almost every dish had shrimp so we didn't make good choices. The place doesn't have any ambience. Kind of like a cafeteria. The food tasted good, but if you don't speak Chinese good luck.

Good food, clean and updated decor

By Club2013 |

Excellent hong-kong/cantonese style cuisines with good service. I would recommend Hong Kong Bistro to anyone. The stir-fried beef flat rice noodle, cantonese style sweat and sour pork (咕噜肉 - Gu Lou Yuk) and fried-rice(of any kind) are my go-to dishes here.

YUMMY!

By darrhad2 |

Love, Love, Love this place. We stayed upstairs at an Air BNB (not associated with HKB) and ate several times at HKB. Loved the breakfast and dinner meals. Make sure you order the French Toast! So good!

Nice chinese food

By Jodenie |

This restaurant always full, one of the favourite chinese restaurant in downtown Seattle. Recommended menu: Sticky rice stone pot, Tofu with beef, Soy sauce duck, Mango coconut pudding.

I was left speechless

By Bolero49 |

Had lunch here once. I don't see what in the world these other reviewers saw in this place. I'm speechless, stunned, bewildered ... ? Had Kung Pao chicken; while it was spicy hot (which I like). The meat was all dark meat with a terrible aftertaste that insisted on coming back up on me the rest of the day. Literally each bite made the next taste worse. I don't know if this "chicken" was on the verge of going rancid or if perhaps it was something other than chicken ,,, I just don't know. I'm left speechless which is unheard of for me. Couldn't finish this food. Paid my bill and walked out. The next morning I paid a second time with severe diarrhea. This meal felt a lot better coming out the next morning, than when it went in the previous day. Enough said.

Good Dumplings

By Gustocino |

The Hong Kong is a nice chinese restaurant in the center of china town. The room isnt really comfortable, but the people are nice and the dumplings fresh. Unfortunately the mapo tofu wasnt really authentic neither was it good :( You won't regred a visit in this restaurant, but i hope there are better chinese restaurant in chinatown

Typical Cantonese restaurant in HK styles

By gigi348 |

During our 4-day visit to Seattle, we went there 3 times. First time we tried the Singapore pan-fried noodle and the baked pork chop with rice. They were delicious. The next day we went for the BBQ pork and the minced pork with noodle, both were soso, the minced pork was extremely saltine so we couldn't even finish it. Milk tea was very good too.

Good varieties of iced drinks, reminds me of Singapore!

By Tofurry |

We ordered take out lunch from Hong Kong Bistro. Our order consisted of vegetable pan fried noodles, a vegetable fried rice and a steamed vegetable noodle soup. We also ordered 4 drinks: iced chocolate, iced ovaltine, iced soy bean milk and a red bean freeze with coconut milk and sago. The food was good but I wish that they had boxed the crispy pan fried noodles separately from the topping, because by the time we got home, the noodle was not crispy anymore. I think the drinks are the highlight here. It reminds me of Singapore where drink stalls would have these same drinks. Iced chocolate is like iced Milo. So good. We did have to add more ice to the drinks because the ice had mostly melted by the time we got home, due to the unusual heat we have been having.

Very yummy food, nice environment and good service

Dinner at "Hong Kong bistro" tonight [Wednesday]. Ordered Geoduck Congee and Lobster noodle and found very yummy.

Hidden Gem in the Emerald City

By Ryan Hubris #1 in Vietnam |

Typical moderately run down Chinese restaurant in the International District. However, the food, portion and price are unbelievable. We had a 3 BBQ selection (char sui, BBQ pork and BBQ duck) for $12. That portion be be $20. We went to dozen and ordered nearly a dozen dishes. All in all, food was tasty and we'll be back again...and again.

Cafe atmosphere with restaurant prices

By Andy C |

We chose to eat here as it was across the road from the Pinball museum. The food was excellent - we had 1/2 crispy duck, chicken with cashew nuts and a broccoli dish. We would have liked a bowl of plain steamed rice or basic fried rice as side. But had to order a full rice dish - which was a bit too much. If the food had all arrived at the same time or within a five minute window the meal would have been very enjoyable - as it was there was twenty minutes between the duck arriving and the rice. Mm!!!

delirious sandwich

By kiwiamelia76 |

it was a great little find, though it a few mins to be served, the pork chop sandwich with fries option that I chose was so delirious that I may just have to go back tonight

Dim sum

By DX4 |

Good place for dim sum. We had rice noodle with bbq duck, pan fried crispy pork bun, bbq pork bun with pineapple crust, crispy taro, Portuguese tarts and Chinese donut wrapped in rice noodle. Restaurant is big, updated and food is good and inexpensive!

Great food, dim sum too.

By TomnLindaBellingham_WA_USA |

Loved their Singapore noodles and seafood pumpkin hot pot. Tried some of their dim sum too and it was excellent. Need to go back to try more dim sum and other hot pots.

Late night or Early afternoon

By Juan Carlos Z |

I didn't even need a menu to know what dishes I like from chinese cuisine. Called in some minutes before they closed, with a couple of items in mind, and was not disappointed at all. Ate here a couple of other nights, as well, while enjoying a chinese soap opera on tv.

Not so good

By Grey C |

Our hotel recommended it, some locals recommended it, so we tried it but were really disappointed. Having eaten chinese food in many locations throughout the world, we found this to be well below average. Service was just ok but food was poor, simply not tasty. The area is full of restaurants so some place must be better or the area would collapse.

Superb Peking Duck

By DeeFry |

HK Bistro is one of our favorite dim sum places in the I-District (the other being Harbor City). Every dish at HK Bistro was delicious, especially the superb Peking Duck with buns. The sesame balls are also terrific. Service was excellent. Parking on the street.

Best sweet and sour chicken and shrimp fried rice

By Laural90210 |

Cantonese and delicious, so delicious they have to be using MSG. But the sweet and sour chicken, roasted duck, sautéed green beans ever. I had on of the pots, their speciality, but it wasn't that good.

Kind of a Canteng Place good value

By Kenpasha |

My wife and I have dropped in here a number of times, either before or after walking or shopping, and it is a familiar and competent kind of what in Hong Kong would be called a canteng, like a cafe, but also serving light meals. We usually hang out in here and have a tea (nacha) or a quick noodle dish of some kind; sometimes it is me sitting there while the better half is off picking up something. The place usually isn't too crowded, and the dishes are competent. Bon appetit!

New Owners

By myinhilo |

After being our go-to place for many years, on a recent visit to Seattle, I was disappointed to find new servers, which probably meant new owner and cooks. Food and service not as good as before. Simply, other places to eat in Seattle's Chinatown International District.

A tasty spot to grab a bite

By Ed S |

It wasn't fantastic but,it was great. In fact I'd say it was absolutely charming. The decor was modern and spot on. The menu was vast and varied. I'd never had or even seen lamb in a Chinese restaurant so I had to give it a try and....great! Absolutely great! Honestly there were so many items on the menu it was hard to choose what we wanted. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because of the size of the menu. The service was great and the prices modest. So if you're in the Chinatown district and are looking to find a place to eat, you won't regret stopping by the Hong Kong Bistro

After a long night

By Yedich |

A group of us were off after midnight and came here for soup. Food was excellent, service good-no problem recommending.

Very Good food

By chefjeff60 |

I met a good friend of mine here for lunch. We ordered a few things on the menu and shared. Everything was very good. I saw a few other things at other tables that I would love to try next time. This is a nice place to have lunch good food and a reasonably priced very large menu.

Good eats

By orangelollypops |

Great food, great variety. Loved the black bean beef and got some noodles added. General Tao chicken was great too. Lo mein with ginger another hit. Shrimp dumplings fried were fantastic. Went later night as we were walking the waterfront and not a lot was open when you have ten people and are in a budget. Would go again

Always reliable comfort foods

By Matthew C |

You can't go wrong at H.K. Bistro. Open till late into the morning. Eat something comfortable. Everything is good

Whole family liked it

By Jill C |

My 11 year old son even loved the dumplings! All of our food was excellent. They have photos of the food, which is helpful for ordering.

Bustling with locals and regulars

By busyeater |

Big place and fills up quickly at lunch time. Dim sum menu featuring all the usual dim sum items but other things as well. Prompt service and clean, airy surroundings. Efficient staff but not talkative. All dim sum items were very good, piping hot, large servings. The price was very affordable and we were unable to finish the five things ordered...and we're good little eaters.

Mango Freeze

By Royce F |

We were starting a food tour sponsored by Wing Luke Museum, and the first item served to us at the Museum was the Mango Freeze from Hong Kong Bistro. Wow! Creamy-smooth and wonderful. We are going to go to Hong King Bistro to order from their full menu.

Delicious Find

By kb5323 |

My husband and I came to Chinatown for the food and we were not disappointed. Hong Kong Bistro was fast and delicious. The wait staff brought around a cart of steamed and baked options that you could choose from. There was also a menu to order from. The cart options were fast, hot, and ready to go. The meal was cheapest and best we had while in Seattle. We were so impressed we came back twice during our stay.

Good place for a cup of Hong Kong tea

By Kenpasha |

There is no "good" rating but I would just like to put in a word for this unpretentious but competent bistro (Chinese name: Mei Wei Lai) in Asiatown in Seattle. I usually have a 'naicha' (tea with milk) here while the better half is in the Chinese supermarket. We have also grabbed a quick bite in here from time to time and the food has always been enjoyable, though it wouldn't be our first choice for lunch or dinner in the area. Good as a stand-by. Bon appetit!

Average at best but friendly

By zHojo |

I thought this might be a good place to go because even at 1pm there were still many locals in this Seattle Chinatown restaurant. Instead, the shrimp dumplings were a bit doughy as the skin was perhaps too thick, and the black bean sauce with spare ribs was bland. Tea was not served in a pot but a single big plastic glass.

It has so much potential - Maybe we just hit a bad day

By Scott M |

The service was awesome. They had an excellent rating in their window from the health inspector. The egg flower soup was probably the best we ever had. Our entrees however missed the spot. My wife had sweet and sour chicken. Great taste, but she had 3 to 4 pieces of "chicken" that were all fat. Not eatable. I had their Hong Kong Chow Mein which was said to have Chicken, Fish, Pork, and Beef. I had one piece of Pork and one piece of Beef. Fish was squid and white fish. The squid was very chewy. The white fish was excellent. Lot's of noodles - Too many! ...and at the bottom of the dish there were many noodles that had been burnt. It's too bad - It had so much potential. I'll give it another try, but probably will stay away from those dishes.

great HK food

By jack m |

Hong Kong Bistro is great for simple things like wonton noodle soup and congee, the price is right, though, and they're open pretty late (past midnight). If you're going for atmosphere, this place isn't it. Special items as low as US$4 and up after 2:30 pm. There is a good selection of food. Service is always good here. The menu has a decent spread, and pretty much anything you expect form a HK style cafe restaurant. Baked rice/spaghetti dishes, stir-fry, noodles, rice dishes, various appetizers, stone pot rice dishes, congee, etc are all pretty decent. Not great or amazing, just good.

Nice Chinese Food with Good Value

By Elisa Halim |

Located in the Chinatown area, within woalking distance to Uwajimaya Market. The food were delicious, we ordered special fried rice, sweet & sour pork and string bean, these were recommended by the waiter (they're all very helpful). And the serving size were generous so it's really a good value for us.

Impressive-food, service and decor

By SailorSuzan |

A popular spot where the natives come for great food in a pleasant environment. The service was attentive. We sampled both dim sum as well as ordered from the menu. Everything arrived hot although at different times allowing a constant flow of food. The young pigeon was as good as in China. Lemon chicken flavorful. The sauces appropriate for each side dish. It’s our new favorite in Chinatown.

A Great find !

By paul m |

Well after eating Cruise Ship food for a week I needed normal food so off to China Town we went after our visit to the Columbia Center. And we came across this place . I just wanted a rice plate and my wife got a bowl of soup. Just your basic real Chinese food Thank You for a great meal Hope this helps Chef Paul

Great for a late night snack

By ginger_jian |

We went to another restaurant for dinner but couldn't find many options to choose from. So we left there and wondered in the streets at around 8pm. We found Hong Kong bistro and went in. We were surprised by the menu options, from fried rice to fried steamed bread, chicken feet, etc. like Dimsums. Many soup and drink options too. The girl served our table was very friendly.

Great food and best dim sum

By Like8s |

We are regulars at this restaurant because the food is consistently good. They also have the most variety of dim sum. The service is also good. Whenever I host dinners, I also use this restaurant because they are so accommodating.

DELICIOUS

By ArezzoNM |

We went in a group of 8 people and ordered many different dishes, all of which were very good and tasty. The service was efficient. The waitress was helpful with our order. The steamed fish with black bean sauce was very good and moist. The string beans with spicy pork excellent. The stone pot dishes were very savory and flavorful. The large round table with the rotating "lazy susan" in the middle made sharing the dishes very easy. The decor is practical, not fancy. We really enjoyed the meal. It was also very reasonably priced.

Capable Chinese

By Back_to_Sandringham |

We walked in here on a whim after deciding to eat in Chinatown, and had a good experience. The food was delivered promptly and was of good quality. There were a large number of Chinese students eating there, which is always a good sign. It wasn’t a mind-blowing eating experience, but certainly very capable.

Hong Kong style cafe in Seattle's Chinatown/International District

By Bread69 |

If you are looking for an inexpensive Hong Kong style meal, you will not go wrong with Hong Kong Bistro 美味來. I have visited this restaurant no fewer than 15 times since it opened several years back and I have yet to find a disappointing visit. The menu is extensive which includes traditional Chinese dishes, dim sum and Hong Kong style, western influenced cafe dishes. I especially enjoy dishes of the latter like baked pork chop rice, club sandwiches, mixed grilled meat with rice and the refreshing red bean ice drink with or without The Hong Kong influenced Russian style vegetable broth is excellent, Overall service is friendly and efficient but not rushed and prices are low with dishes of great value.

Dim Sum in Seattle Chinatown

By DX4 |

We started our trip to the USA by having dim sum at the HK Bistro in Seattle’s Chinatown. We had shrimp rice roll and Chinese donut rice roll - rice roll was just ok, fried white radish cakes - crispy on the outside, Shanghai buns, sweet BBQ buns - yum!, sticky rice wrap - standard and egg tarts - yum!

Best Asian Food I Ever Ate

By Michael S |

My wife and I went into the Chinatown district looking for as authentic Chinese as you can get (I knew that what is typically served at Chinese restaurants is "Americanized"). When we entered it looked as if we were the only non-asian diners, which I took as a good sign. We were seated immediately, and they brought us hot tea and water right away; it felt like we were important guests from the beginning. The decor wasn't much, and the atmosphere was of an american diner, but when they brought out the food, it was a different story altogether. I ordered the satay beef stone pot, and my wife ordered Singapore-style noodles with shrimp. Both were excellent! I definitely recommend anyone looking for authentic cuisine to come here. I wish I had enough time to visit again and try the "family-style" hot pot meals. For those they bring out a hot pot of boiling flavored sauces and a tray of meats and veggies for you to cook right there. It looked and smelled delicious.

Great Dim Sum/Shumai/Service and the like

By JoeBoulder |

Loved this place so much went not once but twice and paid for my son's dinner w/ his fiance. Plentiful, flavorful, locally loved Chinese food. Open til 3 am on fridays/saturdays too. I'll come back again and again. Reasonably priced as well with prompt and attentive service
