Going by previous reviews we decided to give this place a try, it really doesn't look much from the outside then you walk up the worn out carpeted stairs to a small restaurant. The food and choice though are wonderful, the portions are a good size and our couple of starters and 3 main dishes were plenty for the 4 of us. With drinks and tip our bill was just $60, and we left feeling happy we'd visited Chinatown.

Little restaurant in the Asian quarter of San Francisco, a little hidden, which is accessed by a small staircase. We showed up unintentionally at closing time and the owners, despite having dinner at the table, allowed us to stay. The food is great and the dishes are really plentiful. Prices are normal, two starters and two first courses cost us 40 dollars.

Another TripAdvisor great recommendation. Real good food and excellent service. Portions were very large. The two of us could have split one entree order. However, prices are very affordable, so we ordered soup and two entrees. There were many locals eating there. Nice decor once you get up the stairs and into the dining room. See pictures once posted.

We were looking for a spot to sit and grab a bite while in Chinatown. We came across this unassuming spot (it's on the second floor) after wandering around for a while. We checked the reviews and it seemed legit so we went in. We had yellow curry chicken and sesame chicken. The food was good, but since I've had better, I couldn't give them a five. The service was excellent and everything came out quick. Bottom line, a nice lunch and an ocean of choices.

We ordered our food to take out and got our food really fast. The menu has a large variety and prices are decent. The food was really delicious and big portions!

This second floor, unpretentious restaurant in the heart of Chinatown is well liked by tourists and locals looking for an authentic recipe like their grandmothers (tzumu) used to make. All are welcomed with a warm smile. Many of the dishes are prepared using an unglazed clay pot which is saturated with water, then filled with ingredients and steamed in the oven. Try the seafood clay pot which, I thought, was extraordinarily tender and flavorful. The portions are huge. Order one dish less than the number of people in your party and you still might find yourself bringing home food. The menu is very well priced and extremely budget friendly. Now that you are fortified with a good meal, head a few doors over to the legendary Li Po Lounge for a Mai Tai.

After taking faith in this sites review, USA today top10 and some tourism site reviews we decided to give it a go. Makes me wonder how some restaurants get the reviews they do. Initially heading up the stairs we got that bad feeling as you first see the men's toilet on the left which only separated by one door gives glimpses into the kitchen. Inside the dining room wasn't much better as noticed what I think was locals using wipes to clean the bowels and chop sticks before eating. Decided to order safe avoiding seafood and beef. Didn't really help as anything fried was dripping in oil and everything else needed sun glasses to avoid blindness from the effervescent glow of the msg. The last straw was when one of the boys was waiting for the men's toilet and filmed his view of the kitchen on his phone. In a clear plastic tank were half dead fish moving around in I can only hope was muddy water and the view of the fridge would make "Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares" look like a sweat dream. Let's just say we paid the bill and left our food on the table. Had a similar experience with a local Italian restaurant in SF (my wife wrote that review) but finally found a site by locals and have had nothing but good experiences. If in SF try "infactuation" site as it is the only one where I think reviews are correct.

We walked trough China town and there were so many street vendors offering restaurants coupons, puling you by the arm to go to their restaurant...but not this one... Restaurant was full and if anything is indication of good food this is and we were not disappointed clay pot meat was Delicious, calamaris, rice, great service...

Picked this place because of the review.. but it was not good at all. We order three dishes and only one is acceptable. Price are good but the food and place is below average. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

We went for dinner in late May, 2021 and ordered Clay Pot Quail with Chinese sausage, and Clay Pot shrimp with vermicelli. The quail was outstanding. I expected two or three pieces of quail and instead got most of two quail. They were beautifully cooked and the broth was absolutely outstanding. My wife ordered the shrimp and it was somewhat disappointing. The shrimp were done well, but the whole dish was mostly a heap of Chinese cabbage and some noodles. Again, the soup/broth was great.

This place is easy to miss if you're not paying attention! A single door leads up a flight of stairs to the second story restaurant. We had to wait a short while before being seated with another couple. Hope you don't mind sitting with strangers, because chances are you will. The food was delicious but the service was a little slow and sporadic. I would still go back and would recommend to anyone looking for an authentic Chinese food experience in San Francisco.

An unassuming entrance hides a source of delicious food. Mongolian beef and duck neck clay pot were two favourites. Quick service and good prices. It's not pretty but it is tasty. They were queuing out the door when we left.

I went by the reviews on this place. My family thought the food was OK, but I honestly did not enjoy my meal. The only thing I liked were the spring rolls . Not the Chinese food That I’m used too

We were in Chinatown and decided on Hong Kong Clay pot for lunch with our family. We had the dumplings, fried noodles, honey shrimp, sesame chicken, and Mongolian beef for a family of 7. We ate it all up!! So yummy!! All week the kids asked to go back!

We received great food and friendly service. Possibly the best chinese food I ever had. We shared chinese vegetables, schezchuan noodles, dumplings and spring rolls. Very good food with great flavor and not too salty. Everything was super hot and delicious. This is a great place to eat while exploring Chinatown.

I liked going upstairs, 2 ladies very friendly! Great hot and sour soup and really good clay pot seafood dish. Very friendly customers sharing dishes and such. I had a great time at this place on a rainy SF nite!!!

I ordered a clay pot with chicken, mushroom, and Chinese sausage. It was piping hot and loaded with chicken and only a few pieces of sausage. Overall it was decent, nothing amazing.

Absolutely fantastic local find in Chinatown San Francisco will definitely return! Great service, food is delicious!

Exactly what we were looking for! Authentic Chinese food! Offered jasmine tea as soon as we were seated soooo good... Enjoyed the bok cho, pot stickers, Mongolian beef, wonton soup and bbq pork fried rice. Perfect food experience. Room was cozy, had a cute table next to window. Staff went out of there way to give us a great experience! Loved it thanks for the jasmine tea and hot pepper to go :)

Delicious, very authentic food. The mongolian beef was so tender, the fried rice had a great texture and taste. Highly recommend! Very happy with everything!

My wife and I had dinner here twice, during our recent holiday in San Francisco for 6 nights. Service is fast.

After a horrible experience with Chow Fun at a different restaurant, my lovely wife found this place on the internet having such dish for me. I ordered the pork chow fun and she ordered the Mongolian beef. The chow fun was terrific. My wife liked her order, although she was surprised it did not come with rice and that the only vegetables in it were (a few) green onions and (too many) yellow onions. It was also spicier (hot) than she expected. The restaurant was clean, but very plain, and the service was good, but not excellent. Would definitely go back.

Walking through Chinatown, my first time. It wasn't great. The New Year celebration was very commercialized. Corporate tents lined the streets. A lot of promotions, noise, nonsense, crowded... not cool, not authentic. We're fans of new cultural experience, but not fans of such nonsense. She worked her Yelp machine as she saw start to get frustrated. This place was great!! Not good, great!! It is a second story small restaurant. Very much an authentic, been there forever place, nothing fancy. Here is where the utility of my review subsides. My better knows everything about food, especially Asian food. I can hardly pronounce sushi... but I know what I like. We both loved it. She raved about the authenticity. I loved the taste. If you put a gun to my head I could not tell you what we ate... there were noodles involved in one of the dishes, but it was great. I know we relied, in part, on the advice of the waitress. She wasn't new. Big fan. I would return or recommend. It was a great experience. I really loved it.

In our experience some of the best-tasting and most authentic Chinese food is served in slightly tired surroundings. That's certainly the case here, so try not to judge the place on first-impressions of its carpet and interior decor. (If you're looking for a sophisticated and modern eating environment then probably look elsewhere...) The restaurant is on the second floor, up some carpeted stairs from the main street, so it's easy to miss. Service was quick and efficient. The food was very good and great value, especially for San Francisco. The pork-fried rice in particular was very good. A great stop for lunch if you are exploring Chinatown.

The restaurant and walked around the Chinatown district. The staff was nice and the food was good, They are able to serve you quick and fast but not comprise on the integrity of the food

As suggested by others take note of the address or you may walk right by it. Second floor restaurant, no handicap access. About 12 tables with 7 of those large family style ones with a turntable for sharing dishes. First positive sign was that it was about half full and I was the only non-Asian there. Food is inexpensive and generous. My sweet and sour shrimp had 13 medium sized lightly breaded shrimp. Staff was very pleasant.

This was highly recommended to us and now we know why! Excellent! Food was outstanding and service also! Need to watch closely for entrance as it is on 2nd floor. We highly recommend this !

Super friendly but not so good. The curry hot pot and fish hot pot were insipid. Prices were great. My favorite was the fried quail.

Thanks to other TripAdvisor reviews, we found a most delicious and budget friendly restaurant. We were looking for a seafood restaurant in San Francisco’s Chinatown and we were not disappointed. It’s very plain, but the service was quick and the food delicious. You have to go up the stairs. It wasn’t too crowded when we arrived so the four of us had a choice of tables. The menu offered a lot of choices. We ordered hot and sour soup for four, shrimp with honeyed walnuts, ginger lobster, a seafood claypot and sugar pea sprouts with garlic. I was a bit surprised that we had to pay for rice, but it was minimal and the cost for the dinner was less or equal to what we’d been paying for lunches in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf area. As we were finishing dinner, the room began to fill up, but tables were cleaned quickly and people seated almost right away. Since this was January, summertime may be a bit different with the crowds. Good food, quick service, budget-friendly prices.

After looking at Tripadvisor for a good restaurant in China Town, we looked at this as we wanted a good 'real feel' restaurant. Well,if you consider poor toilets, strange decor and chaotic service a 'real feel' Chinese restaurant then good for you but it wasn't for us. The service was poor the food was OK (edible I guess) but the shambles of service and ambiance in the restaurant meant that we didn't stay long and only left a small tip as a token gesture. We won't be back!

Wife and I visiting town. Wanted good food from Chinatown. Lady was super nice. Prices reasonable for amount of food. Shrimp fried rice and salt and pepper chicken wings. Both cooked excellent. Big shrimp.

Meal was slop, worst I have ever had. Restaurant was way too busy for staff to handle. Location was upstairs, and hot, not air conditioned. Nicest part was visiting with couple from Germany sitting next to me at our group table. I won’t return and I will question recommendations on TripAdvisor from now on.

We read the reviews and had a nice Sunday afternoon set aside for lunch. The other stickers were Our starter along with hot and sour soup. The pot stickers were by far the best thing we had. The soup was average. We had the clay pot chicken and clay pot Oxtails. There was something odd in the flavors that we did not care for. The chicken was bland, but better than the oxtails. I would like to report better, but it was average at best.

Well hidden but very busy. Chicken fried rice, cashew chicken, sesame chicken....all tasty. Had pot stickers and egg rolls for apps.....also good. Don't expect to be able to read your bill...it is written in Chinese!!!

We stopped at this restaurant for lunch. Place is relatively small, but very nice. Food was delicious. We ordered clay pot dishes to share. Loved everything.

We had a great value lunch here . Service was quick, portions were large and staff very friendly. Easy place to miss in busy Chinatown.

Wow amazing clay pot the dish was absolutely delicious fully enjoyed this the best Chinese in a long while good location in the China town restaurant on a higher level excellent service

We found this restaurant on trip advisor. It's a little hard to find and not a very big place. It takes a little while to get your food, but so worth waiting for. It's fresh and cooked to order.

I've been here several times and they are just really good! Upon arriving, everyone receives a pot of tea for free! My personal favorite is the chicken and mushroom claypot. This time, when I was finishing up my late lunch, the staff gathered to eat a family style lunch themselves and when I asked them about the dish, one of the ladies actually offered me to try their meal! It's just a really nice restaurant between the food quality and wonderful service. I highly recommend them!

We had the pheasant salt and pepper appetizer, the ox tail and duck clay pots! Simply amazing flavors!!!

Our go-to Chinese restaurant whenever we're in town. The prices is pretty reasonable, but they could do with bigger servings. The location is also on top of some steep stairs, so folks with knee problems might need to brace themselves beforehand.

We stumbled upon this place after a long day walking around the city. We were starving and wanted an authentic but down-to-earth dinner experience and that is exactly what we got. The pot sticker, sesame chicken, fried rice, and sprout snow peas were perfect. They serve tea as you sit down and it was one of my favorite parts of the meal. The portions are really large and you can’t beat the price. I do not recommend ordering the red wine, but the owner made a joke about it so he knew. I’m a cheap wine drinker but I couldn’t even drink it. Only $4.50/glass, so hard to complain. Staff was attentive and friendly. Give it a try, it won’t disappoint.

Great food! The atmosphere is a little strange but the service is great and the food is perfect! When I reached a carpeted staircase I felt a little unhygienic but the restaurant was controlled and the food was spectacular!

Two boys aged 10 and 13. Our first Chinese meal together and it was really nice. Very inexpensive especially for San Francisco. 40 dollars with a couple of beers. Highly recommended.

Went on the recommendation of a friend. Very disappointed Crowded and noisy, had to share tables. Floor was dirty and stained. Food was average and forgettable. Only good thing was it was cheap

Small restaurant upstairs, you may get a seat at a large communal table. We tried two dishes, loved the prawns with Chinese broccoli, lots of shrimp in a tasty sauce with fresh ginger. Cashew chicken was ok, big serving but bland flavor. Fast service, it's always crowded. Fun location in the heart of Chinatown.

The place may be cramped and bustling with people. All the signs of a great place to eat. The locals eat here so it must be good. Prompt service. Good value meal. We ate there twice.

Almost missed it. Use GPS walking directions. You have to walk up steps to second story. But well done, fresh, expansive menu at a great price. A Must is to add a clay pot dish when visiting The Clay Pot. Not fancy at all , but Perfect for lunch.!!

A somewhat hard-to-find local favorite with great food and prices. So glad we found this place! Would definitely come back again. Highly recommend the noodle bowls.

Again visited here based in trip advisor, China town in SF is huge, so may restaurants to choose from, a little over whelming being honest.. We were in a bar 2 doors away so did an immediate area search for food Ordered far too much ,portion sizes again huge! Couldn't eat it all, was offered a box for a carry out but being in a hotel wasn't an option for us Had wings and spring rolls to start - could've done without and neither amazing Orange chicken and a curry for mains, both tasted great, the chicken in both dishes was cooked perfectly and good cuts Also had a fried rice dish, again really tasty Very reasonably priced!! Enjoyed it and would definitely recommend

I generally do not like writing bad reviews of restaurants. But in this case I felt led astray by all the positive reviews here. We ordered the shared dinner special ($16.95 each). The food was essentially no better, and actually a bit worse, than your general Chinese takeaway restaurant in any city. If the atmosphere was better it might overcome the disappointing food but the place felt like eating in a takeaway restaurant as well. Do not be misled by the hyperbole of some of the reviews here.

I’m not entirely sure why this place received such great reviews. I didn’t find anything on the menu to be different or exciting. The food was good but nothing to rave about. We ordered cashew chicken and fried rice. The food was served promptly but very average tasting. I wouldn’t return. There was nothing notable to bring me back.

The food was really good and the portions were good sizes. All in all it was a great experience and very delicious! We highly recommend it!

We had lunch following seeing the TA reviews. No frills restaurant seating, but the food was fab. We really enjoyed it and would go back. Service was fine.

We recently visited with a party of 7, had no issue getting a table on a weeknight. We enjoyed the spring rolls and pot stickers very much. My entree of chicken tofu could have used more chicken and less tofu. My only complaint is that the wait staff was harried and it took much effort to get their attention.

I don’t review restaurants very often but this one felt absolutely necessary. Came here as reviews had suggested that it was a good place for Chinese food in Chinatown. Service was slow but we understood it was a busy restaurant so wasn’t a problem. However, upon the arrival of our dishes, we found what appeared to be a cockroach in our beef fried rice. We made the staff aware and despite being profusely apologetic, only removed the beef fried rice off of the bill and charged us for the rest. Absolutely unacceptable food quality and left feeling extremely uneasy, disappointed and, to be frank, quite ill.

After having burgers and seafood along the coast for 2 weeks, it was time to have a comforting Chinese meal. This restaurant is cozy and serves almost authentic Chinese cuisine. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and had a nice chat with the lady boss. If you miss your local Chinese food while in SF, come over here! The chicken wings were great, claypot tofu and corn soup were excellent.

We ate at the Clay Pot for dinner and it was delicious! The restaurant is very small and crowded. The two of us had a big round table because it was so busy. We invited two couples to sit with us as there were no seats left. There was a line up on the way out! We were greeted with a pot of tea. I had the beef and broccoli (100). The meat was very tender and the veggies cooked perfectly. My husband had cashew chicken (97) I think. It was super good too. Prices were great.

So, glad we visited. The street entrance is a little scary, but that is part of the experience. You walk up stairs to restaurant. You may be asked to share a table; great way to meet new people. Menu includes some special items, fun to read. Portions are large. Be careful to not order too much unless you can take it home. We had egg flower soup, salted fish and chicken fried rice and curry chicken; $30. And we could not eat it all. Great Chinatown experience.

Located in China Town where locals eat. You know it's good when as soon as you walk in you see large tables of local Chinese families dining. So even before you try the food you sense how authentic it is. True, the stairway up is not attractive and sort of dingy but it gives it a non frilly feel I like.Plus, walking all the way up into this almost hidden spot makes the place feel like a secret dining club. It's not an elegant restaurant but a simple spot with truly fresh and delicious affordable food. Plus, you can take your own wine and no corkage fee!. What is also great is that it has been run by the same people for years, I think they are a family, and they are super sweet. Once you become a customer, they never forget you.

Found it on Trip Advisor #1 rated and it did not lead us to think otherwise. Food was great as well as drinks and prices were amazing for a commonly known expensive city. A bit hard to find for it is basically a doorway leading to an upstairs dining area. But once your there you will be happy, ladies hustle and service is very prompt.

Just average food. I was hoping for something really authentic and original. I asked the waiter for suggestions and he recommended tofu…ahhh no! I want meat! So I stuck with the safe bet and ordered potstickers and kung pao chicken.

We arrived late, around 8:30 pm and the place was bustling! We were seated quickly and served tea. My husband and daughters ordered the special for three people and everything was delicious. The favorites were the sweet and sour shrimp, the won ton soup, and the sweet and sour chicken. You can’t go wrong at this place.

We went here for a lunch in Chinatown, and the clay pot dish we got was really good! We also ended up getting chow mein and Chinese broccoli and the price was in our budget too! We went for lunch on a weekday and there was no trouble getting a table too. We parked in a garage and it was way easier than trying to find parking around the area.

So let's start with the only good thing. The food was good. Not more not less. That's simply it. BUT, NOW THE BIG BUT.... The Service is outrageous. Not caring, snobbish and really, really bad. One of the waitresses was absolutely mad. She was so arrogant and completely disrespectful. She complained about the amount of tip we gave for the restaurant which is ridicolous on its own. (For the service we got even the money we gave was way too much). Really no one should go there this an absolut rip off.

Had dinner with the family at Hong Kong Clay Pot while on vacation in San Francisco. We all enjoyed the good food and the very friendly service offered. Would happily eat there again. Hong Kong Clay Pot offers a range of dishes, including a wide variety of clay pot dishes as well as many classical dishes. We had pot stickers, spring rolls, a clay pot, noodles and shrimp. All were really good. The restaurant is located on the second floor and one walks straight up worn stairs from the Chinatown street. But visitors should not let the approach discourage them - the food is really worth the climb and the restaurant is casual but clean and nice. The service was excellent - very friendly and helpful. Special requests for our youngest one were happily filled and additional orders were quickly handled.

Popped up to this restaurant (don't miss the understated entrance) for a delicious lunch. Staff was quick, efficient and was happy to leave us to eat as long as we pleased. We had beef pan fried noodles, curry chicken hot pot, and pot stickers.

came across this restaurant by chance and nearly didn't go upstairs. I'm glad we did, it's a "locals" restaurant and has a steady stream of customers. Service was efficient and the kitchen produced excellent food as fast as possible for the right result. The food was more Cantonese than Hong Kong IMO. Decor was strictly functional which would displease some. As I mentioned above, if the locals like it, that"s a good start.

Enjoyable chinese atmosphere on upper floor. Freshly served food. Tasted all natural and selfmade. Nothing really special but excellent if you want a real classic chinese restaurant in Chinatown. Price is inexpensive. Get a table near the window to watch the Main Street in Chinatown.

Could easily miss this on the street at Chinatown as it's just a door that takes you up to the restaurant but the food was really good, it was so hot up there as no air cond something to consider if you are going on a hot day

Food and service was excellent. We visited them twice during our week’s visit. For the price we were well pleased

Very good dinner in a bustling, small, hidden upstairs restaurant. Chicken curry clay pot good, not spicy. Chicken fried rice was great. Sesame chicken seemed like sweet and sour chicken with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. That being said, it was good too. Good prices, popular with the locals.

Surpassed expectations. Usually I find Chinese food a little greasy but you could tell the freshness of ingredients and skill full cooking. Ordered the sweet n sour chicken and chicken n cashew. Was delicious. The batter was crisp and thin and egg fried rice light. Was greeted with a thirsty quenching pot of complimentary green tea too. Would definitely eat here again if we had time.

My cousin wanted Chinese food and found this on Yelp. Other reviews were good. We ordered spring rolls (mediocre at best), and a chicken, sausage clay pot and rice. We were glad we hadn't ordered anything else. The clay pot was supposed to be chicken..but it was chewy, and didn't really have any chicken flavor. Rubbery. Just no real flavor in the dish. As it got close to 9:00 p.m., the employees were eating at a big table, and we were forgotten. Other people may have enjoyed it. However, it was the most disappointing meal of our trip. We SO regretted having chosen this place. Go somewhere else, anywhere else.

We visited this place on the strength of the reviews of Trip advisor and were not disappointed. In the heart of Chinatown this place has an authentic feel. Nothing fancy but just well cooked food. We had the deluxe menu for $14 which included shrimps with fried rice, sweet and sour pork and Mongolian beef. The beef was especially good. I liked it that they didn't skimp on the shrimps either. The restaurant was pretty full on the Tuesday evening that we went but we got a table right away. The service was fast and efficient. A good choice for the stomach and the pocket book.

Being chinese, I'm usually more harsh with the criticism on Chinese food as I know what to look for. I came here with my colleague on a business trip twice! This is also after eating at a few other places in Chinatown during our business trip too. If you can look past the fact that the restaurant needs a bit of TLC, lick of paint, decor update, tables and chairs (most restaurants in Chinatown suffer from the same issue) then everything else is brilliant. The restaurant offers cuisines that are uncommon and they tasted spot on. The best part was the value for money. We ordered a chicken and abalone clay pot, clams, frog legs and dried scallop yee noodles and even a round of beer at $30 each (including tip) and we couldn't even finish the food. It was really a no brainer for us to come again for our last evening meal on our trip. The staff was nice too with no attitude. Definitely a good choice for anyone struggling to select one of many restaurants in Chinatown.

Our first meal in San Francisco was here. It was a little disappointing to be honest. We ordered the bean curd and duck clay pot and the chicken curry clay pot. The chicken was excellent! A very good dish, but the duck, although well cooked was still on the bone making it hard to eat and enjoy. Good service, cheap prices, but the duck just didn’t do it for me

The meal was alright, nothing to write home about. It was a good place to eat to experience a meal from Chinatown. Service took awhile when we first got there, but was quick once we ordered.

MSG soups flavorless except for inedible fishy shrimp dumplings. Main course seafood was foul, pork nuggets mostly gristle. Fried rice tasted of old oil, contained pellets of desiccated “roast pork” well past expiration date.Servers flunked charm school, atmosphere from a time warp. If this is a top Chinatown restaurant, I shudder to imagine the rest.

Party of 5 for lunch. Entrance is upstairs and small but adds to the experience. Service was a little slow but we were in no hurry. Brought out the dishes as they were prepared which allowed us to share. All were great and salt & pepper frog was my favorite. Prices were reasonable especially given the large portions.

They had the best fried rice ever! Everything was good and very affordable as well as authentic. The sweet and sour soup was great and we had spring rolls.

Don't be put off by the very unassuming entrance to this restaurant, which is one flight up, over some shops. It can get very busy and I can see why. Two of us ordered our own dishes and another to split, and everything was delicious. The night we were there, there were just two waitstaff taking care of the whole room. They were super efficient and somehow managed to remain very pleasant. The menu is extensive and in addition to what we ordered, other orders passing by looked great as well.

Food is very good. I highly recommend this place. Service is a little slow s/t only 2 people working the tables. But they are nice.

I needed somewhere to eat and went here based on reviews from a local site. Ordered seafood and tofu and fried squid. Fried squid ok however it is in batter. The tofu and seafood was good and I enjoyed it. Staff were friendly and I thought it was good value for money. It is just inside Grant Avenue and could be missed, at this time has a red frontage for information

We loved everything we got. Beef stew clay pot and sesame chicken were great. The waiters didn't speak great English but were still very accommodating.

This place is not fusion, not hugely gourmet, but the food is consistently well prepared and very fairly priced. Compared to other eateries in SF, it is a real bargain. The service is very friendly and efficient. Portions are really big ....

Great meal in casual atmosphere.Healthy sized portions and friendly fast service. Will go back next time in SF.

This small restaurant in the middle of Chinatown might be easy to miss with a small red awning between two larger awnings. Climb the stairs to a busy and hectic restaurant filled with locals and tourists and discover deliciously prepared home style cooking. We went to this restaurant twice it was so good. We tried the chicken, mushroom and Chinese sausage clay pot (their specialty) which was so savory. Appetizers and a variety of stir fry dishes did not disappoint. Prices were very reasonable.

We were looking for a good place to eat in Chinatown and wow did we find it! Authentic, local, fresh Chinese food and in an authentic atmosphere. All around amazing. Small restaurant but accommodates large parties and if you have a smaller table you will be seated with others. Can’t say enough about the quality of food!

Don’t be put off by the entrance - looks are very deceiving! The staff couldn’t do enough for us and the food was superb - my partner said the best Chinese food he’s ever eaten. The price was absolutely fantastic - one drink, two mains and a large rice was only $32. Would definitely return!

Restaurant is on the second floor of a building in Chinatown; no ADA access. Decor is very plain; restaurant is nondescript inside and out. Many local people eat here. Food is served in large quantities and is very good. We ordered the “Deluxe Dinners” (back cover of menu); a very good value.

Great for large parties that want to share and try a lot of different plates. Its looks like a whole in the wall, but I’m happy we went in. Loved everything and service is great!

Called after looking at trip advisor and was not disappointed jumped off the train in china town and after walking for five minutes found the restaurant above some shops. It is very basic and old fashoned. It was busy at the time early evening and we found out why.The food here was excellent and all the dishes were authentic Chinese and tasty.

A small door with some steep stairs immediately behind; that’s the welcome to HKCP. Don’t let it put you off. To be clear, this is not a highbrow Chinese restaurant. There are 2 waiting staff, one choice of beer, and the food arrives as it is cooked and ready in typical Chinese fashion. But that’s the point, the food is delicious and authentically Chinese. I can back this up by the number of Chinese people that eat here - it is a ‘locals’ spot. We enjoyed our dinner here so much that the following evening we came back for more! Don’t look for a restaurant with fancy decor in Chinatown, come here and enjoy it for what it is - really good food! To summarize; portion size is more than adequate, food is very tasty, green tea is delicious, atmosphere is warm and friendly, staff are friendly [enough], a very authentic experience for very very reasonable prices in the heart of Chinatown. Highly recommended.

Since relocating from the Midwest, I haven't found Chinese food that I really enjoyed. Most of the food in California seems to be Mandarin style vs the Cantonese style of the Midwest. Without a doubt, Chinatown's Hong Kong Clay Pot is the best Chinese food that I've had in the state of California in over a decade. The food is hot, fresh, and delicious. The prices are also reasonable. I plan on visiting again more more often. I HIGHLY recommend this place.

Vety good at reasonable price. We ordered Kung Pao Chicken, Pan friss Porn with noodles and vaan sprouts

Terrible service, non existent! Waiting staff yell and bark at you then food is dumped at tables. Food quality is very poor. We had squid and salt n pepper chicken wings to begin with. Squid was square oblong pieces, served with nothing, no dip, or even mayonnaise and tasteless. Chicken wings were deep fried and dark brown crusty, just awful. Main course beef black been, sauce looked like beige gloopy gravy and sweat and sour prawn was dark orange and so bitter and strange dark red colour, couldn't eat it. On arrival, you are squeezed on to large round tables staring with strangers. If you dare to ask for another beer, before you've finished existing one then prepare to be yelled at. Couldn't wait to get out, asked for bill, waited 20 mins, went to till to pay, wasn't happy paying tip, but made to pay it as they had a melt down. Do not go here, absolutely terrible place, rude staff, terrible food and service.

We found this little, upstairs place on Yelp. You'll walk right past it if you're not looking for it. A mixture of locals and tourists were there. We had one of the specials for two at $14.95 each and it was enough food for four-wonton soup, potstickers, sweet and sour chicken (all breast and delicious), shrimp fried rice and Mongolian beef (tasty and tender). They had a nice house wine for $5; not sure what it was, but was certainly better than Sutter Home or other cheap wine. It was by far the cheapest meal we had in San Francisco and it ranked up there with the best. We're not adventurous Chinese foodies, so it was very delicious and familiar. There were others trying more exotic dishes such as octopus, etc.

Exactly as described in other reviews. The restaurant is not accessible - flight of stairs to restaurant - and you will sit family style with strangers. These issues did not affect our group but may make a visit challenging for others. Food was excellent and well priced. Everyone was happy with their meals! Rarely happens with 3 teenagers. We loved the spring rolls, hot & sour soup, and princess chicken. The tofu was also yummy and NOT overcooked. Highly recommend.

We wanted to sample some authentic Chinese cooking while in San Francisco and this restaurant bang in the middle of China Town served up some tasty dishes at great value for money. OK the carpeted worn entrance stairs, toilets and decor could all do with a bit of a makeover however we came for the food and were not disappointed.

It was all lined up to be perfect. A clear bright Sunday afternoon and the location of the restaurant is in the heart of a vibrant community. Straightforward orders were confused and dishes forgotten. Rice did not arrive and staff did everything as a favour blended with consummate rudeness. Walk and explore further and avoid.

We were so looking forward to this and were extremely disappointed. There was just no sound flavour, so much filler like onion, capsicum and noodles used and we had to add soy to get some kind of taste. Would it recommend I’m afraid.

A 10 min walk from Union Square in the heart of Chinatown Didn’t book, walked in to a warm welcome, fantastic service, 4 brilliant dishes and beers and wine - all for $70. Can’t recommend highly enough.

We came here on our last San Francisco visit pre pandemic 😷, happy to say the food was still great, served really fast and all very tasty. Staff were very pleasant and a meal for 4 came to just $80 including drinks. Only little annoyance was both our bottles of beer were 3 months out of date, but still tasted good. And FYI, very cheap souvenir shops close by 👍

My family of five enjoyed lunch here during our recent vacation. The fried rice was the best we ever had! We had to order thirds! We were seated right away, the menu was translated into English very well, and the service was friendly and prompt.

Went to the Clay Pot based on TripAdvisor recommendations. Food was good but not extraordinary. Prices reasonable, atmosphere maybe typical Hong Kong, but not exactly nice. Staff was friendly, though

Had dinner there with my son. We almost walked by the entry even when looking for it. We loved the dumplings! Large, delicious filling, oven crisp, not fried. Good with sweet and sour dipping sauce. I recommend the clay pot dishes. Mine was chicken, mushroom and sausage. Very enjoyable, flavorful and filling. His beef and noodles was good, a little heavy on the noodles, not greasy. He ended up eating some of my dinner and liked it as well.

This was a random find, in Chinatown in San Francisco. We were walking around looking for a great place to eat Chinese in the worlds largest Chinatown (outside of China), and this was like #3 on Trip Adviser - always a good way to find a place in a strange/exotic location. Hot and Sour Soup is my barometer of good Chinese and this was pretty good. I highly recommend everything. One of my party ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken or Shrimp, which looked pretty foul, but the rest was pretty good and tasty. I'd go back.

This is where our family (who lives in the Bay Area) took us for lunch when we were in Chinatown. It was very tasty and had an authentic feel. Lots of Asian families dining here as well. We could have ordered less food since it was served family style.

I have to agree with the reviews I have read about this place. The food is plentiful, it is a very good price and it is delicious. The staff are really friendly and the food came really quickly. To get to it you can catch a cable car on the California/Van Ness line and get off at the Grant Ave stop and then walk. It is less than a 10 minute walk to get there. Just a note if you really struggle with stairs. The restaurant is upstairs and the stairs are quite steep. This is a place definitely worth eating at if you are looking for somewhere to eat in Chinatown that is very reasonable and casual. Highly recommended.

By chance found thus place in Chinatown. It was full and had to wait a little to get seated. Ordered the proposed menu and all was very good! Even too much food! It’s a typical Chinese restaurant, good food but not a place to stay longer.

Walking in Chinatown, we decided to go here based on proximity and the reviews. It was a little hard to find, as it's upstairs and you can't really see the sign very well as you walk along the sidewalk. There is nothing fancy about the decor, very plain and functional. However, the food was fantastic. We ordered from the last page of the menu, where you could order in a Group and share entrees. There was 6 of us and we ordered for 5 and couldn't eat it all. And it was FANTASTIC! The pot stickers were the best I've ever had. If you don't go with the Group option, the menu is probably 10 pages, so you'll find something to enjoy.

This place had delicious food, we ordered the deluxe for2 menu and we were so stuffed we could hardly walk when we left. The staff was very friendly and pleasant.

Having traveled to Hong Kong many years ago, my favorite memories are of the family style restaurants, that were chaotic, frenzied and altogether wonderful. Oh, and had great, authentic Hong Kong style food. That in a word describes this restaurant. The entrance is downscale, and many local Chinese families were partaking of the food. We were three, shared a fried Quail appetizer, oxtail clay pot, Mongolian beef and Singapore rice noodles. The rice noodles were as authentic as any I have had in Hong Kong, the oxtail fell off the bone and the beef was extraordinary. Service was authentically frenzied and the experience was great. Oh, and all that food only cost $45.00 for the trhree of us.

We went to this restaurant based on reviews. By far the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. I was amazed that our waiter had the very extensive menu memorized. She was super helpful with guiding us towards a dish. We had a generous portion of food all served steaming hot, which was delightful. Thanks for a great meal!

We visited the clay pot restaurant on the last day of our honeymoon and walked a very long way to get to it. It turned out to be very worth it though as the food was tasty and in very large quantities. We ordered the sweet and sour pork (good quality meat with no fatty bits), chicken chow mein (very tasty), egg fried rice and spring rolls. I'm going back to SF in October and will definitely try to get back here.

We enjoyed our meals. Good local family run restaurant. Service was good and everyone was very friendly.

Complete and utter chaos, incompetent and unfriendly staff. Had to queue more than half an hour to get in. Once seated, nobody took our order for more than 15 minutes. Had to ask twice if we could please order. We took the ‘deluxe dinner A’ for four. The spring rolls arrived after 10 minutes, and then we had to wait more than 30 minutes for the first main course. These were brought to the table at random intervals without any logic. And they stopped at three dishes while the menu contains 5. Had to tell the staff twice we missed two dishes, owner of the restaurant had to intervene as some of the staff speak almost no English. Waited a long time again for the final two dishes. At the end, had to ask three times if I could please pay the bill and finally walked up to the owner to settle the bill. And my kids left hungry - portions were way too small, or the kitchen had delivered a 2 person meal instead of a 4 person meal. Any way, we left hungry. Food was acceptable, portions too small, service was the worst I ever had. If I could give negative ratings, this restaurant would earn a minus 3 Avoid at all cost !

We really enjoyed our meal at this restaurant. The food was really good. The portions are large so we found that we had over ordered. The Mongolian beef and prawns was tremendous!

Fancied an authentic meal in China Town and found this at the clay pot. Lots of Chinese eating always a good sign. Don't over order as portions are generous especially if you order a starter. Excellent meal and reasonably priced. Ensure you take a note of the building number as easy to walk past the entrance

I went to this restaurant because of high rating on Yelp. I expected Hong Kong style claypot and claypot rice. We ordered several basic dishes such as wonton soup, beef chow fun, stir fried snowpea sprout, chicken tofu with salted fish in claypot and stir fried clam. Out of this I enjoyed only chicken tofu claypot. Tofu is very soft and tasty. Beef chowfun not bad. Clam not so good. Snowpea sprout is kind of no taste. The big surprise is wonton soup. I never had Hong Kong style wonton soup like this. Soup is like darker color soy sauce based and wonton not so tasty. I would expect the wonton soup to be the easiest and should be the good dish to start on the table. Overall, a bit disappointment to me.

If you know authentic and great Chinese food and you are expecting this to be the place, you will be HUGELY disappointed. You are not going for service and a high-end environment; this place has great local feel with reasonable prices. Staff nice but busy. The food did not live up to the other reviewers 3-5 star contributions. We ordered 5 dishes (seafood tofu pot, lamb pot, snow pea tips, Mongolian beef, clams with black bean sauce). The server said that the Mongolian beef was spicy which is odd as Mongolian beef is not a traditionally spicy dish; it came with some red pepper but not spicy. Both clay pots mediocre. Stir fried snow pea tips which can be made by anyone was the best dish that we had. We had only one dinner in Chinatown before heading to the airport and wish that we had picked another place

Maybe just a little above average. The price is reasonable and nothing is wrong with the food but nothing is spectacular either

Excellent Chinatown Chinese food. Here’s the restaurant if you’re looking for reasonably priced, delicious food. We had shrimp fried rice, sesame chicken and a fantastic potato sprouts & garlic dish. The place is loud & crowded, but the waitress was good. Round tables with lazy Susan allowed us to easily share the meal.

Everything was great! Good Kung Pao Chicken, House Rice really good!! Service was very good and the food was served real quick. Located in San Francisco’s China Town

Hard to find upstairs restaurant and quite full. Not flash decor but good food at a very reasonable price.

Random restaurant with quick service and a large variety of food. Kind of hard to find as it is upstairs. A great Chinatown experience.

I loved this little spot! We had a great lunch, we tried to pick out the most unique type flavors we could find and tried spicy jelly fish (not my thing at all!) and salted fish fried rice (yum!). Service was great, the green tea was very good. Great spot to try in Chinatown!

Friendly wee Chinese on 1st floor level .steepflight of stairs to access .plenty of choice and super fast service .small restaurant so can be noisy .great for price

We decided to eat in last night and found this little gem. Our daughter was skeptical at first, as she lives near restaurant and hadn’t heard of it. Now, her new favorite place for fast Chinese! Pot stickers were great. Will definitely order again

Our family wanted to try a restaurant in Chinatown, and we ended up at this place. We did their family meal, and we ended up with way more food than we could eat. They have a wide selection on the menu and everything we had was good.

Totally fine food but not nearly as authentic as I would have liked. Probably more of a tourist trap. Overall fine but would have probably preferred one of the dozens of other options in the area.

Visited on the back of TripAdvisor reviews and wasn't disappointed. Almost didn't venture up the stairs as the restaurant doesn't look particularly appealing from the outside but god we did. Good choice of food and all that we tied was excellent. The sign of 'no grease' certainly seemed true and all the dishes tasted fresh and cooked to order. Not a particularly fancy place and if you are looking for fine dining look elsewhere, but this was by far our best meal in SF and one of the best Chinese meals I've ever had.... also for less than $50 for two of us (with drinks) you can't go wrong.

This is a real authentic HK restaurant with all the positive vibes and atmosphere of a hk restaueant, think tight spaces, loud voices, ordering above your voices and really good smoky fare. We ordered the clams in black bean sauce, freah succulent esp in the decadent vlaxk bean sauce. Our claypot of chicken, tofu w salted fish was sacoury and yummy, easily finished off 2 bowls of white rice. The westlake beef soup was sacoured vy all down to the last drop. We saw other tables ordering sweet and sour pork, looks tentalising. This is a really good chinese restaurant. Dont cone for the atmosphere but authentic down to earth good cooking.

We went here on a very busy night. We didn't get the food at the same time and except for the fried rice the meals were pretty unexciting.

Had to wait in line on the stairs for 20 minutes but it was worth it. Accept this is not a state of the art facility but on the food quality alone as well as top notch service this was amazing!! Fully recommend.

Wonderful food and service at this place in China town, very good prices too and plenty of choices i definitely wanna go back !!

It was an excellent, authentic experience! As someone who was living in China myself, I really enjoyed that experience. 10/10 recommend

Food was delicious and fast, staff were friendly and helpful, and the prices were very reasonable. I enjoyed my meal thoroughly!

Heart of Chinatown - second floor location. Friendly staff. Well priced. Decor needed an an update. Food was hit or miss. Unusual for Chinese but some dishes were somewhat tasteless. We wouldn’t return.

We went there seeing a long line. Assumed that it is a very popular restaurant in Chinatown. We were tourists. For me, the food was fine. However, my son had a seafood dish. As soon as we walked out of the restaurant, he started developing a severe allergy. We took an Uber and rushed to the Emergency of a local hospital and he has diagnosed that this was related to the stale seafood that he had eaten. He was given steroid and medication and he recovered. Hopefully, it is an isolated incident but we are not going back.

We ate here for dinner our first night in SF. It is right in the middle of Chinatown. It is definitely reasonably priced with generous portions and the food was excellent. The service and staff were great, too. Agree with other reviewers.

This place was mostly locals, and was the first place we went upon arriving in San Francisco. It had a variety of options, including some for our vegetarians, and they were all great. They were able to seat our party of 8 with no wait.

Food and service was amazing! Super house fried rice. And the hot sauce was the best I’ve had. The spring rolls were delicious, but different. Was that nutmeg? Yummy! Tea and hot and sour soup were on point. Had a nice seat at the opened window overlooking Grant Street.

My wife and I had dinner there twice a couple of weeks ago. The first night I had a pork and rice dish that was excellent. My wife had a curry dish, which she liked. The second night we had some sort of a combination dish that would not deserve a greater rating than 2. As is typical in most Chinatown eateries, the wait staff speak poor English and appear socially taken aback by round eye customers. The restaurant is small and casual - which I prefer. I would eat there again but be more careful about dish selection. Chinese folks were well represented - which is always a good sign.

This is totally the place to go if you want a, tasty , superb value, filling Chinese refuel right in the heart of Chinatown . Service was great , as was the food. Cannot fault it.

Used Google to search for a good restaurant in Chinatown and boy did we found one. Clearly a good find when half the customers are Chinese! Nothing much to look at in terms of interior but the food was awesome and the service was efficient to say the least. $51 fed four hungry mouths with delicious food. Would highly recommend.

I could tell that this was going to be a good place to eat when I arrived. There was a small queue to get in and the place looked fairly basic (it is in an ordinary looking room, with strip lighting). Therefore the food must be good. And it was - really tasty, with a wide vegetarian choice. The tofu clay pot and the scallops in ginger were particularly well made. The queue of diners only increased whilst we were there. This restaurant is definitely worth a stop.

Came across many restaurant in Chinatown but gave this place a try based on Yelp reviews and it was great. I was hesitant as the entrance is a stair case up of not so nice carpet but once inside the ambiance felt like you were not in San Fran. We were a group of 5 and ordered a meal that came with about 8 plates of the most amazing food. Our waitress was extremely nice and helpful. The sweet and sour chicken, the noodles, the rice, the beef, the beef wontons. Everything on the table was amazing. Our entire party raves of how good the food was. The price was great as well. We had over 10 plates to share which was more than enough and we eat a lot and our bill was $120 with tip included. I highly recommend eating here and experiencing Chinatown.

Humble, hard to find, super authentic restaurant with friendly efficient service. Don’t let the shabby looks fool you, the kitchen is very good with well executed dishes.

I gave it 5 stars due to excellent value for money and tasty vegetables. We're traveling for a month from Australia so watching the dollars and waistline. Great to get some home cooked food without all the carbs.

As other people have written this is hidden upstairs in Chinatown and it's like walking into someone's very large front room. The sweet and sour prawns and sesame chicken were great. Portions are huge so don't order too much!

Homely location gives the impression of having entered a restaurant in China, clean, very kind staff, super generous portions. Very good and tasty food not like in Italy where all the dishes have the common aftertaste of glutamate; dry fried and no dish was difficult "to digest". If you want to feel good and take a dip in China .. come in!

I was looking for an Authentic Chinese restaurant in China town. Yet that is not as easy as you might think. It is a brightly lite place, you can see the prepared

Looks a bit grim going up the stairs but the restaurant has a homely feel. Staff were really attentive and food was amazing. For the two of us that ate, we had 4 spring rolls to start then House special chow main and sweet and sour chicken. We had a Tsing Tao beer and a coke. The food was plenty for the two of us. Total bill was $45 which included the tip. Would definitely eat there again.

We wanted authentic Chinese food, at a mid-level price point. The Hong Kong Clay Pot’s reviews led us to choose it. So glad we did! The restaurant is upstairs and it’s sign may be obscured by neighbors, including the corner restaurant that also has “Hong Kong” it in it’s name. First, if it is within their open hours, just go through the gates. From across the street, I was telling my husband I read or saw that advice when a delivery man pushed open their gates and bounded up the stairs, with 2 boxes of vegetables! I did not see any way up except the stairs, which will be an issue for some people. We chose the Special #1 for two. Specials are on the back and provide more variety than a single dish. The spring rolls were good. I liked the dipping sauce, my husband did not. The dishes came fast, almost at once. The Hot & Sour soup was the most delicate and delicious I’ve ever had! The Prawn Fried Rice was PERFECT! Extremely crispy rice and egg. We said simultaneously, “How hot was that wok/surface?” The prawns were slightly tough, as prawns tend to be. I’m not a fan of pork. The Sweet & Sour Pork was fantastic!! Excellent pieces of meat in a perfect coating, the sauce was perfect, with large chunks of green peppers & onions. The water chestnut, snow pea, baby corn dish was good. After my initial tastes of each dish I made a pile of fried rice, Sweet & sour pork, water chestnuts & snow peas on my plate. Scrumptious! (I’m allergic to corn, but I can eat foods that touched corn.) There was too much food for the two of us. One bowl of soup each would have been fine. The serving bowl had 4 to 6 bowls full of soup. We left a few prawns & some veggies behind. I was not hungry the rest of the day! My husband did get a burger about 6 hours later.

We arrived late on Saturday night, they close at 9pm. There was no problem although the place was full we were found a table for two quite quickly. Food was good a starter two main and a large bowl of rice with a glass of wine and a beer came to $40 so good value. The staff ate with us at the end as we were the last to leave, felt very homely. It is in Grant Street in the middle of China Town and first impressions are not good up the stairs with a worn carpet, but the tables were clean, staff very good and we enjoyed the food, this China Town is also where the local Chinese live and work, an experience, but a good one.

This is authentic food. The restaurant is up a set of somewhat grubby stairs and the room is plain and looks like a typical Chinese restaurant. Nothing fancy. The service was prompt and friendly. We ordered some average Pot Stickers, followed by Hot and Sour Soup, an Eggplant Hot Pot, Cashew Scallops and Shrimp With Cheese Vegetables. The portions were generous, the food was great and it all came quickly. With one beer and 2 bowls of rice the total was $67.20. A great deal!

I can't really add anything to this place that hasn't already been said by everyone else. This was the most perfect mom and pop meal in Chinatown we could have hoped for. First, the prices were extremely cheap for San Francisco. In fact, our meal cost half what our lousy diner breakfast cost the next morning. You will literally not be able to find a better dining value on San Francisco. The service was prompt, friendly, and attentive. The portions were very large. The orange chicken was made with quality large chunks of white meat chicken and had a coating on it that was extremely light with an orange honey sauce. The ginger pork was lean, tender, and juicy. The best we've ever had (no kidding!) of either dish. Do not miss this incredible gem in the heart of Chinatown. I suggest using google maps to ensure you find it. We were looking for it and still missed the entrance (to go directly upstairs) when we walked by, and then noticed on maps that we had passed it.

The first impressive detail was the shrimp. The whole shrimp was ready to eat with the tail shell already removed so you could enjoy the entire shrimp. This almost never happens, Tried the curry crab clay pot , was a whole crab cooked in a way that shell could be cracked and the meat removed almost entirely, It was a fantastic dish flavor wise but eating complete pierces of crab mixed in the curry and vegetables made it unique. This is actual Chinese food and if you are going to the trouble of going to Chinatown sf then go here

My husband, daughter, her friend and I ate at the Hong Kong Clay Pot Restaurant last week. The food was above average; excellent salt and pepper rock cod and lobster clay pot, acceptable pot stickers. At the end of the meal, my husband used his fingers to retrieve the final pieces of lobster from the clay pot. Not perfect etiquette, but this is a casual and somewhat run down establishment. As we were leaving, the waitress approached my daughter and her friend and proceeded to ridicule him, laughing and pointing as he left. Apparently she didn't realize that we were all together, perhaps because there was a bag on the chair separating the two of them from the two of us; or, if she did, she didn't care. I was gobsmacked and left without addressing her behavior, and I regret having left a generous tip for barely adequate service. We will never return.

Checked this one out on TA and headed there from the hop on hop off bus - seated at a shared table. Ordered a clay pot chicken, mushroom, Chinese sausage. Sesame seed chicken, and shrimp fried rice. - see pic - portions were huge. We also ordered chicken wings, which i thought we nothing really to write home about. Deep fried wontons were also ordered - 8 pieces which were delicious This is home made family run restaurant and is friendly and nothing was too much trouble. A can-of sprite and two bottle waters came to $43. Highly recommended - make the trip.

We went here based upon trip advisor reviews and weren't disappointed. Don't let the unassuming entrance on the street turn you away. At the street it's just a plain stairwell - the restaurant is on the 2nd floor of a building. When we arrived it was busy, which I consider a good sign, and we had a short wait. It has a real local feel. The staff was friendly, but I don't think they speak much English. The food seems very authentic. The pot stickers are huge and very tasty. I highly recommend them. The chicken fried rice was average. The honey strip was great and the tofu and chicken clay pot was great. We ordered 4 meals for 5 people and had lots of leftovers. Cost was about $60 for 5 people, no alcohol. I'd go again.

Nice atmosphere, very good dishes, the weitre was helpful with the choices and recommendation from thee u, great service
Really excellent & pleasant
Smaller, more attractive and more personable service than most Chinese restaurants with tasty dishes and attractive not over cooked vegetables. We really enjoyed our visit and will come back.
