Food Poisoning

By Margie S |

We were looking forward to visiting this brewery. Our family owns a brewery in WA. The beer and service were good. A sweet play around for small children. But the food was horrible. I was visiting my kids who live in Portland, I live in Seattle, and we all came down the next day with the most horrible food poisoning I've ever experienced. Go for the beer but stay away from the food. This is the one on Powell in Portland.

Abominably delicious ale!

By Michael B |

After having my wife bring me back a bottle of the "Abominable Winter" during her last trip to Portland, I had to visit this brewery. It didn't disappoint. Good pizza and fabulous beer that is as good as any in Portland. Cheers!

Incredibly disapointed

By Bryan_hedrick |

I have been a big fan of HUB for years. I have never failed to ask what the HUB beer is when I see their handle on a tap. I have eaten at the brewery several times, usually with big groups. But they have lost me as a customer forever. I bought a keg of IPA several years ago and put down a big deposit on the keg. Long story short, I stopped pouring kegs after the HUB keg, and never quite got around to bringing it back. There was no limit on the return date at the time I got the keg and I wasn’t hurting for money so no big deal. It sat in the garage for years getting buried. A couple weeks ago, I finally dug the keg out and brought it to HUB on a Saturday. (Not going to fight the Friday afternoon traffic, which is a big part of the reason for my slow return). They could not find my receipt for my deposit. David in the brewery said that this had only happened once before and that they had taken care of the customer, but that he needed to ask the head brewer. I left the keg with him, certain that they would take care of me. I got back in touch with David a week later and he said that they were not going to be able to give me any of my deposit back. I was shocked and disappointed. I suggested as a compromise, the deposit value in credit at the brewery. He said that sounded reasonable and would check. After speaking with his boss he called me back and said that the best they could do was 25% off of the purchase of my next keg. Since I no longer buy kegs that was as good as nothing. (And I would have to give them another hundred bucks for a deposit, like that is going to happen again). There are plenty of other breweries out there. I will be taking my business and my out of town guests to one of the many other quality breweries in Portland. I suggest you do the same.

An Afternoon Beer and Pizza

By Dan P |

Stopped in to check this place out as our first Portland brewery. The Pulled Pork Pizza was an absolute winner as well as the Hopworks IPA (Gold Medal Winner 2008), so we took advantage of the 10% off carry-out beers and had a 4 pack for dessert. Big old selection of brews and a well rounded pub-grub menu. Good atmosphere for all.

A must if you have kids

By Meander262823 |

This was literally my favorite part of our week long trip to Portland. I have a 20 month old and he spent the entire time playing with the train table next to our table. He loved it. I literally could sit back and just enjoy the meal. My husband liked his brew and the food was good, but just your basic bar food. The waiter was very friendly and kid friendly as well. I would go every week if I could. This place blew Laurelwood out of the water.

Great Restaurant and a wonderful beer selection

By Laura C |

We have dined at Hopworks on several occasions. They have an area that seems geared toward children, which is great if you have children -- but our kids are grown so we will avoid that area in the future as it was a little loud! We have also dined outside -- and next time I want to try the lounge area. We ate here for Mother's day after spending the day kayaking. We had burgers and beer, which were wonderful! I don't usually eat burgers, but this was worth it! We will be back!

Good Beer, Decent Food, Fair Service

By Werbrichfamily |

We checked TA for a good pub and this one popped up. Made it for happy hour on a Tuesday and this place was busy. Found a place to sit. Beer was very good. Appetizers were good too. Dinner was above average. I had the bacon cheese burger with BBQ sauce and the chips. Wanted burger medium, but it was well done. The steak sandwich was decent. Our server was overwhelmed, and we were attended to as well as we should have. Maybe we picked the wrong section. Nice they are environmentally responsible and donate money to causes from beer sales. We were glad we stopped here as we were hungry. Probably try other micros before returning.

Great Brewery

By B8123NGdavidj |

Hopworks has some amazing craft brews, The service was great, food was very tasty, Definetly will be returning to this brewery, Bought sweatshirt to commemorate the brewery,

Good service, poor quality food.

By Deric H |

Ok, yes the beer was great and the service was just as good, but the food was horrible. We sent the pizza back because it was burned on the bottom. The replacement pizza was also burned. Ugh. Pretzel appetizer had no salt on them. Tasted like wheat bread sticks.

Great Food Fun Kids Play Area

By John P |

Enjoyed the calzone l, cask beer, & pretzel app!!! They had toys and big blackboard area for kids! Old bike decor topped it off!

Beer, Pretzels, Bikes and Pizza

By IrishRover |

Great food and beer selection. Service is great. Order the pretzel. Pizza is full of flavor. You can go wrong eating here

Meeting for a beer,

By Mumzy |

Met with some friends for a beer, ended up staying for some nachos ( even had a second order). Food was delicious and the service was prompt.

Party of 16!!

By DocSnarky |

I did not want to like this place. The first people we encountered said the wait would be 40 minutes, when the upstairs was completely empty. "Staffing" issues. They were not particularly pleasant or seemingly remotely interested in the fact that we were a party of 16, had called before our arrival, and that 10 of the 16 people in our party were under 11 years old!! Eventually the upstairs was miraculously opened. Our experience improved dramatically once we were seated. Our server was terrific, attentive, food came quickly and was very good. Because of the kid population, we ordered three pizzas and ate every bit! While I always find "Craft" beers weird, everyone else said they were great, so we'll go with that! Upstairs also had a small play area for kids and we were able to staple our face drawings on the wood beams which thrilled the kids! What easily could have been a 2-star experience became 4-stars, thanks in large part to our server and his support staff!!! Remember: Great Customer Service is ESSENTIAL!!

Great brews and food.

By Ohmite58 |

Tried the flight of 15 beer sampler. Had help for a few reasons! Didn't care for the Tangerine Berliner and a few others. Really enjoyed some Porters and Stouts and well as IPA's. Just wanted to eat light so I had the black bean corn cakes and pumpkin curry soup. The dip for the cakes was very good but the cakes stood up just fine without! The soup was hearty and tasty. Prices are reasonable. good selection of beverages and food make this a must to satisfy everyone in the crowd!

Great Beer and Food

By Pdxgirl2015 |

Everything at HUB is great. Their beers are top notch and a great variety so there is something for everyone. The pizza is amazing but so are the salads and sandwiches - it's good to go with a group so you can share and try more things. The only bad thing is it's always crowded and the wait to get in. It's worth is! The bike bar on Mississippi isn't generally quite as busy so try it if you are in that area. Plus, they are very environmentally conscious and great people to do business with.

Multiple visits!

By schwettina |

This local brewpub was close to where I was staying....thankfully! I came here 3 times in 4 nights. I'm a hophead, so of course I tried all the IPAs on the board. I recommend the Hopworks at 6.6%, the Timber Jim at 7.2%, the Gear Up at 6.2%, and the Crosstown Pale at 5.3%. They have a great happy hour which I happened upon at 9 p.m. Beer is $4.25 and a menu with 9 items all under $7 Will give you plenty to choose from. Their pizza is awesome. So is the stromboli. Beer is phenomenal, and if you're not a hophead they've got plenty of others to suit your palate. Service is fabulous! Enjoy!

Great place for PDX visitors

By Richard |

This place is on my list of reliable, "take someone who's new to Portland to get them good beers" places. Great (long) selection of varied beers, and a very knowledgeable staff to help you pick. Tip: waffle fries (with garlic salt, but they can hold off on that) are a great order for the table. Tell people you're taking them to a "biker bar" and say nothing else. Then, when you show up, they'll see it's a "bike to work" décor. Trollololo.

Excellent establishment

By LMorgan11 |

We are so glad that we stopped here while on our vacation. Everything was excellent. The beer selection was amazing and the food during happy hour was perfect. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. We would definitely visit here again without question.

Great food- even better beers

By Rico M |

Love HUB! They have a great section of beers at least 15 on tap, from IPA to Pilsners, to stouts. Love their beers. Great selection of food as well

Perfect

By Steven C |

I ate lunch here with my good buddy from Portland, and he totally hyped it up, assuring me that I was going to love it. Usually that doesn’t work, but in this case he was absolutely right. The food is good, but the beer is amazing. The best part was the 10 glass sampler. You get to try several of their best offerings, and everything is perfectly labeled on the serving platter. They also chart it all out on chalkboards which works really well with my OCD. The food is standard pub fare, but even that was done well. We had wings and burgers, both of which would be worth going back for. The only negative I can find to say about Hopworks is that it’s not right next door to my house.

Awesome Beer

By purplegal12 |

We stopped here for beers, not realizing they also offered food. Parking wasn't bad and what was striking was that there was a separate section for families. The decor is cool and the beer is fantastic. If I'm ever in Portland again I'll stop in.

A good meal with decent beer

By MikelAnneA |

We hadn't been here for year. I forgot how terrible their parking signage is. It's way too easy to miss the lot and have to drive around a very large block. Also, the main lot is almost guaranteed to be full. There's a huge lot in the back and below that's even more difficult to find. We had the pretzels. They were fresh out of the oven and very good. I got a cobb salad. Ok there... The service was not too good. Our server was not friendly and I noticed all the servers seem to congregate by the register and talk A LOT.

Good Stuff

By JulezG |

Rootbeer was awesome. My calzone was monster sized. Very tasty. The entire table ordered something different and we were all pleased. The hummus appetizer was delicious.

Slow service

By Krist M |

The food is good a little pricier for what it is. The service staff are slow and have no personality. The food was better 4 years ago. Don't know what changed.

Happy Accident

By Mary0516 |

I was recently visiting Portland and wanted to go to a restaurant near Hopworks but it was closed (it was a Sunday evening). So my friends and I asked our Uber driver if there was a place nearby that he would recommend and he took us to Hopworks. Hopworks has an amazing beer selection and the food and service is great. I am a light eater so I had the black bean corn cakes. The cilantro lime sauce they came with was out of this world. The vibe at Hopworks is chill and local. I especially loved the bike frames surrounding the bar. This place is definitely worth checking out.

Delicious and family friendly!

By missmolly12003 |

If you have kids, ask to sit near one of the two play areas - this was a lifesaver for us. Really brilliant setup! Husband and I shared a hubanero burger and a salad, both of which were amazing. Normally salads out are questionable with soggy ingredients, but this was fresh and crisp and huge. Highly recommend!

Do the sampler & beef kabobs!

By Aimee B |

The round beer sampler was a great 8 beer flight. I got the appetizer of Israeli beef kabobs. It was definitely a meal, but exactly what I was looking for for lunch. Cool atmosphere with bike frames hanging from the bar.

Delicious Food, Fun For All!

By OhSoDucky11 |

Went here with my family and a friend for dinner, and we were very impressed. All the food was delicious, especially the Pretzels. We “may” have even ordered 2 rounds of them because they were amazing. Lol. Great kid’s area for the little ones, and good beer too. We will definitely be back!

Good lunch before flight

By johnmM754OI |

This Hopworks location was in the Portland Airport. Jefferey was our server, and was super, which is unusual in an airport. The food was good, and it was served in a timely manner. Jeffery checked on us several times, and was very pleasant and efficient. I would go back.

Massive beer selection

By Eire72 |

Great place. loved it. Chilled out atmosphere, very cool interior ... super friendly informative staff. The food is amazing.,Power green salad was excellent . I’d walk all the way back for those pretzels again. If your in Portland and fancy a good beer tasting experience all i can say is go there. Could not fault this place ..

Everything you'd want in a brewpub

By KommissarKen |

The food is good, the happy hour choices are varied, the beers are uniformly well-made and interesting, the wait staff is friendly and (though not a sports bar) there are plenty of screens on the bar side to watch your game.

Great dining experience with Family friendly atmosphere

By Gary V |

they have 3 levels of eating here with a bar, restaurant and an upper and lower area designed for children to play in. Service was very good, friendly and hip. Our group had pizza, salads, turkish marinated beef skewers, and all of the food was prepared beautifully and served timely. Decor is unique, fun and lively. You will want to come back for more!

Cold food -

By nonstopjoe |

my hamburger and fries had obviously sat around awhile before being served - so were room temperature (at best) and soggy. The root beer, however, was great. The place wasn't crowded, so poor performance was inexcusable.

Great place, delicious food, tasty brews, dog friendly

By Dtcars |

This place is awesome! Great environment, super friendly and attentive staff (thank you, Ricky! You’re the best!) , most delicious food and tasty brews! I had the MOAB bowl and my husband had the Bomber Burger. They also welcomed our cherished dogs with a fresh bowl of water and delicious homemade dog treats made with spent grains from brewing!)

Great stop after sightseeing with the family

By Joey A |

Tired and hungry, this place didn't disappoint. We sat down right away on a Monday night, got drinks fairly quick, and the appetizers - their house soft pretzels - arrived liked they telepathically knew we were going to order them. Pizza was really good...came our crazy fast too. Dug the beers too. try the amber.

Best Brewpub we visited in Portland

By David P |

This place was really nice. It was by far the nicest physical restaurant of any of the 10 brewpubs we visited in Portland. It was big and clean. The beer was good - it wasn't the best microbrew ever but it was probably in the top 30%. They had 16 beers which is a really good selection, and they offer both a 10 and 15 sample tray option which was really nice. The food and service were both really good.

Place for groups and families

By kebnertravel |

A friend of mine has been here a handful of times and when we decided to grab a beer after work on a week night, she suggested this place. We were there at 6:30pm and there were people crowded at the front door holding beers, I thought this was going to be the line to sit down, but my friend walked passed them going to the left, straight into the bar area. The bar is open seating, even the tall tables with stools. So so so many people. The place was packed. We grabbed one of the last tables open. Someone greeted us almost immediately and tried to take a drink order, but we were still taking our jackets off and trying to sit down, I ordered a lager and my friend had one of their Amber beers. After the girl left to grab our drinks, another gal walked up and asked to take our order. I couldn't tell if they are trying to turn the tables quickly or it was really good service. We ordered their pretzels to start. My friend and I aren't huge mustard fans so we asked for double sides of cheese. When someone brought it out, he had another pretzel in his hand, but gave us the wrong one. It wasn't a big deal, but when our waiter walked by she instantly saw (I don't even know how) that we didn't have two sides of cheese. Holy hawk eyes hah! I ordered the bbq pulled pork sandwich with fries and my friend got the club with a side salad. When ordering I asked what the server thought and if she was a fan, she said it really needs a side of bbq sauce- very true in the end. It was pretty darn dry in my opinion. Big portions for sure though. Definitely enough food, which it should be- because of the pricing. A bit steep in my opinion. And I wouldn't say it's worth it, it's pub food, nothing fancy. I did find a hair IN my sandwich was alarming and I definitely lost my appetite a bit when that happened. Yes, things happen, so I cut off that side of the sandwich and pick at the other half. Even if I was really hungry I wouldn't have been able to eat the whole thing. I'd just stick to their appetizers and their beers the next time I went. It left a good enough impression to go back. Great place for families or groups to meet up at. The place is very big! Huge bar area, two different dining rooms, one upstairs the other down. Our server who was a nice, short haired blonde girl, wish I got her name so I could give her kudos- was really really great. Always on top of things and very personable. Great night at the brewery. Wish the prices were cheaper for dinner, it wasn't anything really worth bragging about. Maybe I need to try something else? They had pizza too...so I'll be back to try something else.

Great pizza!

By Jessica F |

We tried the D.N.F. and the Feelin Good pizzas with a Spicy SW Quinoa salad and the Glorious Caesar salad. Everything was absolutely delicious! The pizzas had the perfect crisp, just the right amount of sauce without it overpowering the toppings, and complementary flavors.from the fresh ingredients. Two play areas for small children offset the wait time for our table and for our food. Our only complaint was that our waiter was less than attentive. We gave up on getting plates from him for our pizzas and finally helped ourselves from the nearby wait station as well as obtaining additional napkins.

Why not check this out?

By Jim H |

Just "happened" upon this great eatery and bar by accident. Driving up Powell Blvd. and thought "why not?". Great choice. Very well balanced menu, lot's of beverage choices, very large inside and tastefully decorated. Good staff and excellent food. I had the calzone. Thought it was pricey, but it could feed three people!!! All of the flavors combined into a mouth blast of taste. Nothing overpowered anything else. The red sauce is from Heaven. This is a top 10 eatery. If you're in the area and hungry.......check it out!!

Good food, surprisingly family friendly

By TriCityDude |

Was a wait to get in on a Saturday night, but they seated our group (12) and we had a good dinner together. Tasty food, and room for the little ones to play in their play zones. Decent variety of bar/restaurant foods. (I didn't drink the beer so can't say on that). A hopping, happening place, for sure.

Solid place for good food/beer!

By Mic-dizzle! |

We had a large party and they were able to seat us right away. Great selection of fresh beers, ciders, and full bar. The happy hour menu has a huge selection and everything we ordered was great. The price was even better.

Saturday Lunch

By epmitchell74 |

With kids, it’s great to find a place that serves beer and has a play area for kids!! Breadsticks and chicken tenders (we always ask for all of the sauces) is our go to meal here. We’ve also gotten the poutine with shredded pork (it’s good, but I have had better). Kid’s meals are tasty too. One got the pretzel wrapped hot dog with some sliced and the other got pasta with cheese sauce! Great choices for beer, great service and relaxed atmosphere!

Great beer, okay food

By Stevanie_F |

We ordered happy hour last night, and the food was a mix of quality. The garlic waffle fries were great, with huge chunks of garlic on top. The mac & cheese was terrible, coming out late, and literally boiling. It was so oily, the few pasta shells that came in the dish were just drenched in oil. It gave me a stomach ache shortly after we left. The ceasar salad was nothing special, but not terrible either. My husband said he really liked the Stromboli, but I didn't try it, so I'm not able to speak to that. Overall, I think I'll just go back for beer and garlic fries.

Great Family Place

By Diane B |

If you have kids and want good beer and food this is the place to go. It is also good without kids as they have a very large bar area. There is ample parking in back and outdoor seating. There is a full bar. We had a large variety of things and all was great! Pizza was good as were the various “bowls”. There is an area for kids to play. Definitely a great place to eat.

Family Visit

By bigfinklefan |

This is a terrific option if you're looking to sample Portland Beer while traveling with small children. There are multiple play areas near the dining tables. Kids have access to chalkboards, toys, and their own section. Was expecting to really love the beer and find the food underwhelming. Our experience, though, was actually the opposite. Had the 5-beer sampler of all IPAs (because I love IPAs). Found them underwhelming and enjoyed 1 out of 5 of them. But the food...was DELICIOUS. It was a spicy chicken wrap. Just so so good. And I could tell the moment it was placed in front of me. Just looked like it was going to taste awesome. And it did. Fun place to visit with couples. Beer didn't impress us. But we'd return. Was fun.

Portland Breweries??? Don't miss this one!!!

By MtRotella |

Hi Guys! Portland has many, many breweries! OMG! and every type of beer you would ever want to taste...... but, if you only have enough time to visit one (or a few) Hopworks is one NOT TO MISS! They have an extensive list of wonderful, craft beers, friendly staff and a couple locations around Portland/Vancouver. I have to say...... their Happy Hour menu is a "10"!!! I have taken many friends to visit, and when they return.... want to return for another round!!! I give them my 5 STAR rating! Cheers!!!!

Great kid friendly place!

By Smaile L |

We visited recently and had a great time. Our two year old loved the kid play area and he was able to play and get energy out before our meal. I loved the meatball sandwich and organic French fries yum! The beers were good, too. Def worth it if you're in the area.

Excellent Brewery for Families (yes, families!)

By hiimjamie |

I can not speak highly enough about this place. It’s such a great place for parents who want to go to a brewery with kids in tow. There’s a separate entrance and a completely separate side of the restaurant for people dining with those under 21, complete with a play area. My 2 year old loved his pretzel dog and side of broccoli (i know he’s weird) and my Wife and I enjoyed pub food and beer. I wish there were more options like this out there!!

Delicious, big portions, fun atmosphere

By heatherpeterson36 |

Went here for a girl's night out/birthday and it was a lot of fun! Great atmosphere, lots of local brews and delicious food! Be prepared to eat because portions are generous (and the food is so good!). Definitely recommend for a fun night out with friends.

It didn't quite work out

By Jan OR |

We had a short stop here when driving to Cartlandia. It was lunch time so it was quite full. I couldn’t connect with the waitress so I decided to buy some bottles to go. They only sell packs and bombers. Maybe I have more time and patience next time.

Place for good food and beer

By BobbyGolfs |

I guess when you visit Portland you get used to the numerous microbreweries with their own style and food. This is a good one. Nice atmosphere, good service and reasonable prices. Of course it has a great beer selection. I have a family member who lives nearby and it is a regular stop for him. I understand why. You won't be disappointed.

First timer

By Karen B |

I brought my brother up here to Portland for eye surgery snd stayed at Motel 6. I asked them where was something close and she recommended Hopwors which was only a block away, so we just walked down he street to it. We walked in the door and were so amazed at how many people were in the building already. We had to wait for a table maybe 10 minutes, which was no big deal. The waiter that we had was very patient as my brother had to look at the menu for about 10 minutes to figure out what to have. The atmosphere was WOW! VERY BUSY!! The food came and my brother enjoyed his Rocket burger and i had the porkchop. had an incident with my plate, but it was taken care of promptly. i and my brother WILL RECOMMEND this restaurant to all and everyone who comesw o Portland and want good food. Thanks Scott, you were a great server. Karen.

Great beer selection!

By Matt G |

Came here on a night HUB was hosting an environment-friendly IPA festival. Service in the restaurant was great, despite the large crowd outside. Pretzels with beer cheese appetizer is very tasty. A few points to improve on: the service was great, but several times returned to clarify my order (chicken tenders, no fries), ultimately bringing me the full dish with fries. No big deal, just honest feedback. Also, the lack of wifi. Brought it to the attention of the staff, who mentioned "yeah it should be working, you sure?" Yes i'm sure, trying to help you out by letting you know. Again not a huge deal but just shoot me straight and give me a definitive answer.

Great Beers -- Cool Place

By MacinMac |

We're out of towners who have eaten here on several visits. It's an organic brew pub that's usually busy and noisy in a good way--people are enjoying it. We like the pizza. And, yes, the service can be spotty. Weekend Happy Hours are so crowded it's hard to find a seat.

A Fabulous Surprise!

By Madge464 |

Needed lunch and decided to try somewhere new. We sat on deck which was great. I ordered an appetizer which was a curry chicken salad. The price was incredible. It was a smaller portion but ample in size for what I needed. Great flavor! My husband had the pizza, salad, soda deal. He ordered the meat slice. It came and he was no disappointed in the least. We will be back. Left full and still had money in our wallet. Thank you Hopworks!

Kid friendly great beer

By cxmxatx |

Kid friendly and great beer. Pretzels with cheese deep are amazing! Pricey kids food, but there is a play area for them with chalk walls and trains etc, so makes going out much easier when they're entertained, thank you for that HUB!

Great food...awesome beer!

By 1965DW |

Met friends for dinner and brew. Service was excellent. Food was fabulous. I love this place. I had a chicken club sandwich. I also highly recommend the pretzel appetizer. Delicious!!!

glad we came here!

By Tacoma_Rick |

Stopped in for lunch. Loved this place! Lunch special was the best deal around. You get a slice of Pizza, salad, and a beer. Prices start around $8.25 depending on what kind of pizza you pick. They have a large play area for the kids which was great. Order the pretzel appetizer, it was amazing. Best meal out we’ve had in a while and the beer was great.

Fun venue, good service and food

By John M |

Chad was our server and made some good recommendations, especially the Wave Train beer. Everyone enjoyed their food, Pork Tacos, Fish & chips, Bomber Burger and chicken Tenders. Good beer selection, as would be expected. Bike frame rack above the bar was neat

So totally Cool, So Portland!

By thatkatcal |

A must visit in Portland. The decor a bike theme, the sustainability focus and the really wonderful beer makes this a must. Food - pretty good. The IPA is the best - really! The HUB supports local charities with their pint sales and overall they are very community and environmentally focused. The place is always hopping (no pun intended for those IPA lovers). In the summer sit outside on their patio. In the winter, hang out upstairs or down. I have never had a bad experience in all my visits here.

good beer, good food

By elcrawl |

I went with family on a weeknight, it was busy but we got seated right away. Service was good, we got beers right away, and food came out fairly quickly. I got a taster tray, all the beers were solid, some were really good. I had wings and they were tasty, can't remember what my mates had but everyone enjoyed their food and beer. I've been to the biker bar a few times before, this place is bigger but i liked the atmosphere at the biker bar better.

Fun atmosphere with good food!

By Melissa W |

We ordered the 9 beer sample tray. It was a great group activity but most of their beers are very “hoppy” so I wasn’t a personal fan of any except for the coffee stout. That was delicious! The burgers were nice and well cooked. The fries seemed frozen so I didn’t like those. Service was good and friendly waiter.

Try the pretzels

By Jason P |

Hopworks is a part of Portland's excellent brewpub tradition. Great original beers with an excellent tasting selection. Also can't stress enough that you need to try the pretzels.

Great beer, food and service

By aktravelers2008 |

We visited here late on a Sunday arriving about 15 minutes before the end of happy hour. The waiter quickly took our order so that we could take part in the happy hour specials. My husband loved the beer selection, and the food came out of the kitchen quickly and was yummy - try the mini pulled pork sandwiches! The decor with lots of bikes is fun, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. A nice find for us out-of-towners.

Great brewery!

By Rene_pipp |

Main reasons we love this place: 1. Delicious beers 2. Kids area with toys (so we can enjoy the beers) 3. Something healty on the kids menu (very rare!)

Eco-Brewpub with Great Beer and Food

By TheWoodlandsMom |

Sustainability and environmental concern is paramount at this local brewery. Combine that with great atmosphere and food and you have a home run! We were fortunate to have a tour of the brewery, followed by a great social evening of beer and food. The owners and all the employees are all 100% sincere about being organic and making a minimal impact on the environment. Their website, www.hopworksbeer.com, is a great place to read about all about this company. This place gets an A+ from both the business side to the flavorful restaurant side. Our group dinner outing was perfect in their separate area that hold 60 people. Everyone enjoyed great beer and we had FANTASTIC varied pizza and salad. The rooftop deck is a great outdoor spot to eat. Where else can you have draft beer that was just made and piped up from the cold room below - at at most is just two weeks old. If you are beer fanatic or just someone who like a low key, fun atmosphere to gather with friends and family, I would highly recommend this place.

Good beer selection. Hipster staff (not a bad thing). Neat decoration. Kind of out of way location

By 606zpx |

Went there relatively late one evening and had the beer sampler tray. Bartender was nice. Inside decorated in a neat way. Location not great if you don't have a car. Food is better than average bar type food.

Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces , nephews and grandkids feist together.

By Jeffery S |

One Uncle/Grandpa fortunately arrived early, just before 5 PM and reserved a table for 12. This was fortunate as ther was a long wait for a table by the time we arrived at 5:40. So timing is everything. Although filled with a "hopping" buzz, acoustics aren't bad and conversation was possible. The is an amazing variety of brews from IPAs, to Ales, to Porters, etc. -- about 20. Also excellent wine list with some outstanding Oregon bottles but with 3 excellent reds by the glass. I had a Cobb salad with "cage free chicken" which was fresh and flavorful. One GK had pizza and devoured it, other had Mac n cheese and that went away too. Wife had one of the myriad of burgers which came with a nice side salad. Service was good, and despite the chaotic mix of billable groups everything was billed correctly to the correct credit card. Bathrooms are presentable. Parking lot seemed full, but amazingly comings and goings seemed to coordinate and each new open place filled, but another opened just as needed. How does that work anyway? Great pub. Will return.

Ahead of the Pelton

Visit the HUB with wife and small kids and this place really caters for everyone. The layout of the bar is really cool and there choice of beers is vast. The organic IPA really impressed me. The food was fantastic and the staff friendly and efficient. The kids play area was also a added bonus.

Good Beer. Good Food

By kbrock116 |

Hopeworks is a bicycling themed restaurant and microbrewery. We stopped in there because we heard the beer was good and we were not disappointed. In a town that loves it's hops the lager was crisp and refreshing.

Local Portland

By Deborah S |

A friend and I went to lunch here. The waitress was super friendly and had no problem when i asked to taste test a few things. The chicken tenders and tots came out extra crispy, the way I wanted. They make their own bbq sauce so that was a wonderful addition to the good food. Quantity was good so I had more for later. Give it a try!

yummy food, family friendly

By Jeanie E |

We had an extended family gathering here and it was PERFECT. the younger kids had space to play (we sat outside) and the rest of us sat close enough to hear each other and enjoy the time. The beers and food were quite good and reasonably priced. We had a few appetizers - veggies with hummus (great), fries (ok) and pretzels (outstanding) --it is nice to arrive in time for happy hour-priced appetizers. we had a variety of orders and everyone was pleased with their meal. Strongly recommend this place!

Great Brewpub!

By benthere |

First time visit. Imaginative atmosphere with a bicycling theme: witness all the bike frames hanging over the bar. They were short-staffed with the bartender doing at least double-duty as a server, too; but he still managed to be personable, efficient, and friendly. Nicely done! I had the 'Commander's Pizza'. Have to say it was one of the best thin-crust pizzas I have had anywhere; and I'm a very discerning pizza-lover. Thoroughly enjoyed this lunch!

Great family friendly restaurant

By PortlandOregon2012 |

They get it right. Food and beer is wonderful. Along with a closed off area for kids to play where families can sit, watch them play and get a minute to eat. I wish there were more breweries like this one!

Nice beer samplers, Family Friendly

By Cherry Chassis |

Has a nice little outdoor patio. Nice beer sampler. Mostly light colored beers for the summer. I love dark beers so I didn't love the selection they had at the time but they weren't bad. The amber and their stout were the best IMO. The waiter brought me out some samples that weren't on their 10-15 beer sampler list after I told him that I'd wished there more dark beers (free of charge). I'd go back! The "hub"anero burger was fantastic!

Weird Service, Decent food and Beer

By cardello |

Came here last Saturday for the first time from out of town. The decor of the place as nice, they have bike frames hanging above the bar. The beer was just ok. I had the pretzel appetizer which was good and the BBQ chicken tenders which was good too. There was outdoor seating but it was way to hot for that on this day. The thing that killed this visit for me was we the waiter we had. He acted like he either didn't want to be there or didn't want us to be there. He wasn't attentive or pleasant. It was like being served by someone with a hangover. He actually threw the check on the table besides handing it to anyone or even placing it normally on the table. I hope the brewery sees because of their bad server they are getting this review, if it wasn't for him it would be higher.

Always good food and good beers

By RJpdx |

Love the pizzas and flatbreads. Great variety of beers also. There is a reason this place is always busy!

Believe the hype

By Ralph C |

Great beer. Solid selection of darks including 2 stouts (english oatmeal and coffee) and an imperial. not the best imperial ive had but stuffs hard to find anyway! Food was great too nice big burger.

Great spot for a beer and a burger!

By Erik R |

This is a fairly new restaurant and very popular with the locals. Great choice of beer and specialty drinks, plus wine. Quite a wide menu, but their burgers seem to be the most popular choice, and we certainly enjoyed ours. Service was friendly and quick, but we were never rushed. A great experience, and we'll be back!

Travelling with children? Win-win.

By Marc Cadotte |

Portland had no shortage of brewery-restaurants, many of which are great. Hopworks has a special place though. The food is quite good, very reasonably priced, the beer is outstanding, and they have three different play areas for children. We went twice in one week in Portland because we loved it so much.

Excellent family friendly brew pub

By Laura G |

We recently traveled to Portland with our 14 month old. Hopworks came up in a search for family friendly restaurants and it did not disappoint. We ended up there for dinner twice in five days. Pizza, salads, and sandwiches were all really good, and the kids menu had lots of options too. We tried the 15 beer sampler which was a great introduction. Service was friendly and easy going. Best of all for our son was the train table play areas (there are several throughout). Servers don't seem at all bothered when they need to step over the toddlers on their way to the table. But don't worry - if you aren't with kids you can choose to sit in the large bar area where noone under 18 us allowed. Regardless of where you sit - if they have the basil chocolate pie on the dessert menu do not leave without a slice! I wish we had a place like this near home.

Taking Family for dinner

By Don C |

Busy place. Good food for children. Play dough given to children for their busy hands. Adult food-OK

Fun atmosphere and great food and brew!

By Deborah J C |

My husband and I visited Hopworks for dinner on a recent visit to Portland and liked it so well we went back there the next night with friends! Great selection of brews, ciders and house-made soft drinks as well as outstanding upscale pub food that was fresh and organic! We ate both indoors and outdoors on the two different nights and both were great. Check out the lighting over the bar -- so perfectly Portland! Repurpose your old bike frames!

Excellent Organic Sustainable Brew & Food

By jackiebr63 |

Because we were driving back up north, we had no brew, but just some tastes, and the tastes we had were decisively tasty. A nice selection of a lot of varieties, sours, hoppy, sweet, and Germanic styles. And the menu had a large variety of vegan vegetarian and meat foods from which to select. We had a yummy pesto vegetable pizza with a small tasty salad before hand. This place was comfortable the service excellent and a family friendly space to enjoy the brew and food. So glad we found this place.

nobody died, in fact, survival was never in (much) doubt

By tiburondelnorte |

after a chilly day trying to sled and snow-bawl-fight and such up near Mt. Hood, we decided to warm-up/chill-out before going home. I had been to HUB some years back so i wasn't a complete stranger. we were 6 (2 grand-kids, our kids, us) and they gave us a table right next to the kid's play area -- this was okay as our youngest probably wouldn't have stayed seated long anyway. oh! the food, beer, service? all quite acceptable. I had the "beyond" shepherd's pie, and my dinner was probably the most mundane of our lot, as i've had better (twice) in my home town. everyone else in our group thought their meals (and drinks) were good.

good food and very child friendly

By intnltraveler |

8 family members met up for lunch here after a morning at OMSI and the three kids under 7 were well entertained at one of the play stations while waiting for the food to arrive. Everyone enjoyed their food.

Food and service a little spotty, but great beer and atmosphere

By tepsicity |

Also the pizzas are pretty pricy, if you're planning to come with kids. 12" basic is $13.75. We had a hold-up on a calzone that wasn't well communicated, but the calzone itself and the salads it held up were wonderful, as was the pretzel app that came earlier. The meatballs were dry and way too spicy, but this may have been a result of them holding the main courses back under the warmer too long waiting on the calzone. Other than that, the beers were great, the food that was done well was done very well, and it's a really warm, inviting place. I'd definitely come back for the beer and apps/salad, without kids.

Happy hour

By Jennifer M |

We had a late lunch, so we ended up getting happy hour prices! The food was really good! The beer could have been colder, but still was pretty good. I loved the bicycle decor and our waitress was super nice! Overall a great place!

WE LOVE this place!

By teri1352 |

The organic foods and beers are the best ever. The service is GREAT. The employees are the BEST! We love the various and seasonal beers. The food is basically your usual sports bar food but it is MUCH better than other places. They use organic items and the taste is definitely better. You can NOTICE the difference with the food products they use. Try it out, you'll go back repeatedly!

Super pub and kid friendly eats.

By SavyTravlerWA |

We love to come here wjen visitong Portland. This brewpub gets it right. Great food, a super selection of crafted beers/ciders and lemonade from scratch. There are a few stouts to choose from too a bonus for peeps bored with IPAs and ambers. The stout brownie sundae is a great way to top the meal. Excellent tables indoors and out. Super bonus: dog friendly seating outside and entertainment for the kiddos including play area inside, games amd kiddo event happenings.

Great Food and Service

By lonil990 |

One does not have to drink beer to enjoy the food! My family enjoyed the beer and we had a flight of 15 so we tried the majority of their beers. We started with the Portlander pizza with added sausage and it was excellent! I had the Rocket burger and that was excellent as well. The others in our party enjoyed the fish and chips, Hub beer steak, and Reuben. I tried the Reuben which had great flavor but a little on the chewy side. The whole piece of meat comes out when you take a bite. We also had the honeycombs which were tasty. Service was more then excellent!

Great Bar Food and Beer!

By Michelle L |

Had the burger and “power salad” and the salad was amazing!!! Fresh, tasty and unique. Burger was a solid burger as good as any I’ve had. Kitchen split burger and salad for us (husband and I share them) which is always nice.

Best IPA in Portland, which means the entire universe

By Landworld |

HUB's IPA is the "vana" in Beervana. HUB's entire concept is organic and sustainable. Is it coincidence that it also the best brewery in PDX?

Rude staff, loud, bad hygiene

By Blexhooper |

This place is being ruined by its own success. Due to that fact that it's alway busy the staff acts as if they are doing you a favor when you eat there. I also don't like the fact that the bartenders and waiters have thick long beards. It's not hygienic for servers to have that kind of facial hair. I would skip this one.

Good beer and good for children

By David P |

Get to this brewpub out of peak hours or face a long wait. I got there just after midday on a winter Saturday and it was fine. Great choice of beers. Food the usual fare of pizza, salads and sandwiches. My group had pizza and salads which were fine. Popular with kid's parties Note the bicycle frames hanging up and the bike seats on the wall above the gent's urinals!

Love this place. Parking is a downside

By Stephen W |

They have a great selection of food and I have never been disappointed. AT least 20 beers on tap and their seasonals rotate. Parking is a challenge sometimes, but doable. If I am in the area I make it a point to stop here.

Great spot for beer & lunch! (And to watch a football game!)

By GillyTravelBug |

It was busy, but our service was great. We started with their pretzel sticks and beer cheese - delicious! I had the daily special which was a roast beef sandwich, my husband had the calzone. Both were fantastic. My husband had the sampler of beer - 10 or 15 different ones to try! I am pregnant so is indulged in their root beer - yum!!

More, Please.

By Max V |

The HUB has turned into the finest 2 location brewpub in PDX. Great beer selections and an excellent lunch or dinner menu. The Powell Blvd location is easy to find (just east of Cleveland HS) and the parking lot even has an EV charging station. With separate dining and tavern areas, kid are always welcome but not underfoot.

Family friendly

By JanCado |

The food was very good and there is a small play area for the kids. The only negative was the stairway we had to climb to enter the restaurant. Okay for us, but I didn't see a handicap-accessible entry. Maybe there was one on the street side of the restaurant. The pretzel sticks are the best!!

Dependable and flexible for your party

By prostotthehost |

This is our go-to spot for when we need a dependable dinner, while our 3 yo can play happily. The have several play areas, so you are not restricted to one part of the restaurant like you have the plague. Our favorites: pretzels (must have), spice quinoa salad, Hunter, Gatherer, or Going Green calzones, and DOA. Also, a great place for happy hour with friends or coworkers that you aren't ashamed to be seen with in public. I do wish the patio had more coverage, during the summer. The Portland sun makes my skin melt.

Nice variety of food

By 338jacquelynk |

Nice variety, of food, friendly staff, fairly good service, parking is abundant, just a little loud but doable

Abominal Winter Ale and Cider

By RSNN |

I was taking a break from the Portland Greek Festival and thought I'd check out this Portland HUB. I walked in and loved the way the place looked. I continued around the bar and to the merchandise and spotted a pint glass with the image of Abominal Winter Ale on it. I have see the advertisements for this beer, but never found a place that had it. so I walked back to the bar and read the beer list they has posted. THEY HAVE IT HERE! So I sat down at the bar and ordered that straight way. And interesting unique taste. Thought I tend to drink dark beers or ciders as what I enjoy to drink the most. So after I finished this ale I asked about the cider they have. I was told they had two. One of them was a Blackberry Cider and that sounded great to me. And it was indeed a very good cider. This place is a great place to go have something to drink. service is very good. and so are the drinks. The atmosphere is great. Had a relaxing vibe and a cool look and feel.

Good food, slow service

By Nursestacey |

We frequent this Hopworks at least once a month or so. Typically the food is great, beer is tasty, however we tend to wait a long time for a table, even though you can see 4-6 open booths from the doorway. Then in 20-30 minutes they finally seat us....at one of the booths that has been open the entire time. I don't get it.....super frustrating.

Yes! Craft Beer!!

By jaciwoo |

Had such a good time I bought a tank top! This place came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The beer was amazing. You have options for their flights. I didn't even realize there were children because they were so well behaved. I cannot wait to return!!

Service is Everything!

By Dianna430M |

Taylor was our server/bartender extraordinaire! This woman has an amazing work ethic. Not only is she friendly, she is competent, engaging and a whirlwind of activity- she took care of each and every person, in this *packed establishment! Whatever you’re paying her - She deserves a raise! We saw several breakfast burritos being served and they looked delicious! Nice dining area and if you like a view - there’s one available!

Everything was fine, great server

By Adolf5 |

Hopworks is a lively place. We just had some appetizers: caprese (mozzarella, tomato & basil salad), Poutine (fries with gravy and melted cheese), a quinoa salad with chicken. and some minestrone. Everything was fine, and our server David was on top of things. Personally I'm not much into very hoppy beers, but there was something for my taste as well.

Great beer, stay for the beer

By Jeremy L |

Awesome place with friendly staff and great attitudes. The beer is fantastic and it's a great spot to get happy hour. Try the garlic fries with a abominable winter ale, fantastic.

Very very good beer & food

By Just Joe |

Great beer, food, service. IPA menu is very very good, especially their “Ace of Spades” IIPA. They have killer salads, pizzas, sandwiches, appetizers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Great beer and a fun, popular, brew pub with good food !

By PaulAK2011 |

My daughter picked me up from the airport and we stopped just in time for Happy Hour and a light dinner here. We both had the delicious red ale. It is very popular, and thus can be noisy. The sevice was fair, considering the business. It has a genuine brew pub feel and appearance. I had a splendid burger to go with my beer. We will be back.

Perfect Pub for Pints and Playtime

By Dracoschnauzer Dad |

When you enter you think you have found a bike shop, but don't let that fool you. HUB is a great resto and brewery to bring the entire family. During nice days there is a huge patio out back with a beer garden vibe that has a large play area for the kids. Should the weather not be so permitting, HUB also has an indoor space for kids. The menu has a decent selection of foods. Everything was hot and tasty. Our waitress was a little quirky, but after a couple of the locally sourced beers who cares. If you can get a sitter, pack up the kids and bring them with you to HUB.

Kid friendly

By charlie m |

Meet some friends there for dinner on their suggestion. Great beer and food. Great stuff all around for kids to play with. So family friendly

Touring Portland

By Terry W |

Eli was a great server. Very knowledgable and made our experience wonderful. The 4 of us loved our food and beers. Loved the atmosphere.

Bad experience

By Julia V |

We visited the location at the PDX Airport. Our flight was depaarting flight was delayed so we had to buy at least water. The waitress was very rude. We understand that by Oregon law they have to charge 10 cents for the plastic bottle. After our water bottle was empty, I went back and politely asked whether they take the bottles back. The gentleman cashier did not take the bottle and with a “whatever” turned and walked away. Is the personnel there specially trained to be rude? We shall never return nor recommend this place to anyone.

Brewpub!

By Marc |

I've been staying locally (Airbnb) for a few days and this is the only microbrew pub in walking distance, however it's pretty awesome and I've been twice! The food is standard bar food (burgers and pizza... Plus other stuff) but good quality and using local ingredients; their pizza bases are fantastic! Food aside, the beer is the main event... That's what you go for! It does not disappoint! There's a great selection of beers from light and hoppy to dark and full bodied, and from around 3% A.B.V. up to almost 10%... Something for everyone! The staff are friendly and offer good advice if you're struggling with the choice!

Best Soup and Salad for the Money!

By Madge464 |

I love this place! It is clean and well kept. The soup and salad I had this week was awesome. The salad was a nice size. It was loaded with different veggies, and had great croutons! The dressings are homemade too! The soup was not a cup but a good size bowl. The price was perfect too. To top it all off, the flavors were wonderful!

LOVED this Place

By Tajkatt t |

we were staying a few lots away at the motel 6 & were hungry & tired when this place was recommended. it was AWESOME.. some of the best ever fish & chips and chicken fingers /fries have had in a long time - their house made dipping sauce (made with beer i think lol) was Awesome even better than their housemade ranch! we actually had a number of meals there while we were in town - they dont open until 11 but that was ok. we tried a number of their offerings and enjoyed them all - they have an area for families with kids and a kids play area seperated from the all adults bar & eating area so pretty much anyone can enjoy them.. i was very impressed by their staff and everything i learned about the company.. the decor is great fun (apparently owner is into cycling :) and they use salvaged parts for the decor.. very clever & they are seriously involved in being a low environmental impact company. love it and them.

Good food, slow service..

By sharrongeg |

Good lunch, very good beer! Tried the Bomber burger and enjoyed it. Really appreciated the crispy fries. Service was slow, despite the place being half empty.

Great Place for kids, the food was just ok and a little spendy

By Daniel D |

We recently had our first child and wanted to go out to to a place that was family friendly. This place was great for that. There is an entire section for the little ones. Toddlers had a nice play area and infants like ours could have a freak out moment or two and it wouldn't be a big deal. The service was ok at best. Parking was far from ideal. The food was also just ok. We had a pizza that was really pricey and nothing special. The meatball sandwich that I had was also just ok and the meatballs are really spicey..fyi if you order it. The beer was pretty good though. Overall nothing was horrible food-wise, but nothing was great either. All in all. It was a great place to take a kid/infant or get a beer, but if you are looking for great food or a great value there are lots of better options out there.

Brews and babes

By sareduf |

Great place to grab a drink and some grub. Super kid friendly (with separate kid only section if you're a child hater). Kids play area and kid menu kept the kids busy while hubby and I enjoyed a delicious beer. Cool shirts and beers to go also available. The waitress was super friendly and the service was quick.

Great stop with the family

By Stacy M |

Stopped for dinner with the family, including three young children. Loved the atmosphere and the play areas for the kids are a God send. The food and the beer were good and even better without the constant nagging of kids.

Came here for the ales, but also loved the food!

By Mikeview |

Four of us were on our way from the airport to Lake Oswego and stopped here to try the well regarded Hopworks ales. With little time to fully savor the opportunity, we were able to sample the regular IPA, the Gear Up IPA and the Pigwar. All were fine tasting and went well with the incredibly wonderful sandwiches that we ordered - 2 chicken clubs, 1 gear grinder & 1 pollo rojo. Service was quick and, in our case, essential since we were on our way to a memorial service for a family member. Hope to get back in the future to truly soak up and more casually enjoy the pleasant setting, food and ales.

Kid friendly microbrewery

By jalainern |

We celebrated the night of our granddaughter's birth with her other grandparents who knew how kid friendly it was. Our 18 mo old grandson played at a play area with trains and cars right by our table. That was important as that allowed us to enjoy their great pizza and brews Staff was very attentive. Samples allowed us to make decisions!

Great IPA, Good Wings... Horrible service

By Tony T |

The beer is delicious & the wings were great! We were going to stay longer & have more food/beer but the service turned us off so we decided to try our luck at one of Portlands other fine establishments. My girlfriend & I are both servers & are always sympathetic with someone struggling or in the weeds but this woman was unattentive, ignored simple requests like a glass of water (not a refill - just a glass) and only showed interest in us when it was time to collect the bill, which she came back for 3 times while I tried to finish my beer that took ridiculously long to get. SMH

A fun place!

By kisssmee |

This place is a restaurant and brewery good for everyone in the family. There's a bar area where you have to be 21 and a restaurant area where families can sit. They have a sample wheel of their beer (10 x 3oz sampler) which is unheard of anywhere. It's typically flights. The best part? HH everyday!! I wanted to try the Black Bean Cakes. They were delicious and had a hint of spice in it which is a nice treat.

Extremely family friendly!

By Travelbug340 |

This place was amazing for our family including 2 little kids. We sat next to one of the play/activity areas which was awesome. The server was very friendly and got our kids food ordered first. My salad was delicious and my husband really liked his burger. My only suggestion since they cater to families so much, is to have more food options on the kids menu. We will definitely go back though!

Delicious food, great atmosphere, attentive servers

By cmw133 |

We ate here last week and would definitely recommend it! I had the Moab bowl and it was amazing, so many delicious flavors! Our server was really kind. We liked the bright atmosphere and delicious beers too. Would definitely return next time I am in Portland!

Beer good, food bad

By hummingbird475 |

Tasty beer/drinks. But not sure how it’s a “certificate of excellence” place. Food was not good. Very mediocre at best. Service was good but with so many good places to eat in Portland this is definitely not one of them. Won’t go back.

Great Beer

By Lindsay G |

Bummed to have come here for beers only and without an appetite. The food menu and the plates going by look delicious. The beers are great. We had a 15 sampler to try them all, all are good. And the sampler is only $12, a steal.

Calling all parents

By Brandon |

At the recommendation of some Portland locals, we met them at this restaurant. They have a 3 month old and we have a 9 month old. This was a great place to bring them as there are a lot of kids here and the restaurant obviously caters to this crowd. However, there is a large bar well separated from the family dining room for those looking to avoid children. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. My pulled pork sandwich was good - better than most non-BBQ only places. The fries were a bit of a disappointment, but that is the only thing that I have a negative review on. I'd visit again the next time that I'm in Portland.

Great beer variety; amazing food!

By Christine O |

I can't say enough great things about this brewery. I started my self-made brew tour of Portland here and Hopworks did not disappoint. We had the power green salad with steak that was perfectly cooked and the stromboli special that came with a beer. I was VERY sold on the variety of IPAs and also the ciders. I will definitely be coming here again the next time I am in Portland!

Good place for drinks, not a fan of their food

By Wine Dine n Vacay |

Convenient place for when waiting for transfer flights or to be boarded. No services needed except for the staff to bring out your food and drinks. You can scan the bar code to order and pay for your order all online. Love it. Good selections of draft beers and some cocktails. Food, so-so, it’s what you can expect from airport, not top of the line, but can fill you up. Pricey, we paid $65 for 1 burger, 1 chicken wrap, 1 cocktail and a soda. Definitely a good hang out spot, but not a foodie spot.

Good food -- large portions

By rickh57 |

I went to Hopworks for a going away lunch for a co-worker. The service was good, and the food very good -- with large portions. I ordered a side salad -- and it was as large as a dinner salad elsewhere.

Tesla Toast

By Havaki |

My friends invited my girlfriend and me for a toast on their newly bought Tesla. In the past I have been here for a drink of beer in this restaurant/ brewery. The toast was done with coctails. We had one with gin (forgot the name!). Since it was happy hour time we selected some food of this menu; BBQ PULLED PORK SLIDER $5.00 Two all-natural BBQ pulled pork sliders tossed in our Beer BBQ sauce, topped with poppy seed coleslaw. My girlfriend had the Old School Slice - pizza. Very good food and a great atmosphere.

Not happy. A let down for me.

By Jpart |

I am sorry but I have to disagree with the reviews here that state beers are great and service is poor. We visited this joint on Friday night and I must say I personally found the opposite; the beers were light and watery and service was actually not bad. Yes the beers are organic so you would expect a change in taste but all the flights we tasted were downright watery and not one had the WOW factor going for it. The décor was good especially if you are a bike addict and looking for some bike frames. The place was crowded and we had to stand by the door to taste our fare. Not impressed in the slightest bit. The flights are served in a round serving tray and 15 flights are one of the most we have had in one single serving. Sorry but I guess I will have to give it a pass

Manager menace

By Peter R |

One time visitors do not return. Experiencing the style of the manager is enough reason. Staff is sighing, showing a general adversity to work there. She is no manager but a menace. Harassing patrons in the public street about parking. She needs to retire. She is unfriendly and harming the experience at this location. Food is ok, selection of beers is amazing. Atmosphere sucks. See picture: No one there.

If you like beer, this is your place

By Bruce K |

Great selection of beers, including gluten free beers. Very nice informal menu for lunch and dinner. Fantastic salads. Everything is fresh and appears to be made on site. This is a must if you are in Portland.

Great salads.

By Aram S |

This is going to sound nuts but I can't drink beer right now. So we ended up going here since the food looked really good. It was! The service was also excellent and people were very friendly and nice. Definitely want to try the beer, at some point, and it is worth a stop if you are in town.

Great beer selection

By BG1313 |

This is a huge brew pub with a great atmosphere. The beer selection is excellent and only $9 for a great flight of 10 beers. The menu was normal brewpub selection - the wings were ok, didn't like that they were uncut. The pulled pork sandwich was huge and looked great. With all the choices of brewpubs in Portland I'd definitely come back to this one for the beer.

Cobb salad was just ok

By Tristan Isaksen |

I didn't have any brew, so my review may be uncharacteristic. The Cobb salad was Ok and had no tomatoes in it. Also it was mostly chopped up and mixed together, not the way these salads usually come.

I wish this existed in our city!

By BEM124 |

Good beer. Good food. Super-friendly staff. Children's play area. We would be there often if it was in DC :) Thank you!

Wonderful

By D M |

My daughter has brought us to Hopworks Urban Brewery several different times. It is a nice brewery. We really enjoy the atmosphere. The fact that there are tables outside also is very nice. This time we decided to have dinner. We ordered the Poutine as a side. It was so good. I would not hesitate to order it again. My daughter and I had the incredibly amazing Power Salad. Oh my gosh, it was so fabulous. I could eat it everyday. Even though my bowl was completely empty and I stuffed to the gills I had to control myself to not lick the bowl. I do not lick bowls and plates but this salad was just that good. One of the most amazing salads ever. My husband had the Chicken Tenders. They were also really good. All our food was throughly enjoyed. My husband and daughter enjoyed their beers very much. I had a nice wine. This is a great spot to enjoy a drink and have a great meal. The service is really great also. The cleanliness is very good and I am particular about that. Great place for a great time and is suitable for us older ones and for the younger ones. This is one establishment that my husband and I do not stand out as the old people. There are lots of all ages here. This is a nice place to meet and visit. Everyone seems to be very well behaved here. Hopworks Urban Brewery is a wonderful place.

Delicious Brew

By Melissa C |

We tried a sampler of a few brews and they were delicious. The atmosphere was great. I would definitely come back again.

Great food, atmosphere-outdoor dining and play atea a plus

Great tasting food, reasonable prices, decent kids menu made this a good pick for our family of four. The outside ding area and green space was terrific for our weary travelers. Highly recommended.

A first-rate place for families

By srca |

Went there with my wife, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. It's ideal because they have several play areas, suitable for toddlers and (I think) for older children. The grilled cheese on the kids' menu is awesome. I had the Caesar salad, not at all traditional, but the menu tells you all the non-traditional ingredients, including artichoke hearts and other veggies. I liked it plenty, and I think the others liked their food, too. I was not impressed by the beer, though they have so many brews that I might have liked another. Two of us had glasses of Oregon Sauvignon blanc, which was delicious. The service was pleasant but very sketchy. Maybe they pay more attention to regular customers.

Best place ever to dine with kids

By WindyCityChic |

We are a family of 4. Two adults and two small kids, ages 2 and 4. This is by far the best place to eat with kids this age (and maybe older) anywhere. Kid friendly means a whole different concept at this place than at your usual restaurant. While normally kid friendly translates to "we tolerate your kids and give them a couple of crayons" this place actually invested in blackboards, train sets, cars, dinosaurs, etc. What this permitted is, for once, for us to sit down and eat a meal without throwing everything into our mouths at the fastest rate to avoid a child meltdown. What is also important to add is that, we were not shunned away to some lesser area of the place, but rather to a very lovely dining area. Also, equally important, is that the food is excellent and fresh, for kids as well as adults. Their pretzels truly are great (get them with the beer cheese or without). Also, the menu did not merely consist of quick deep fried bar food but had excellent salads and other items. In addition, the food for the kids was equally well done. There's not enough space on this for me to truly give this place the credit it deserves for the concept of creating a truly family friendly environment.

Great place to relax

Love this pub and restaurant. They brew their own beer and make a couple dozen kinds. I love their Gear Up IPA. Try their burgers or pizza, the crust rocks!

Shear happiness.

This place really rocks my world. Addie and I stopped in to purchase some of the best beer on planet earth. Well apparently I missed something. Not enough kudos. You guys rock. And I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you for loving Addie and she loves you all. Thank you for being here and I hope you all are well and I'm certain that I will be back.

Too Hoppy

By Va9nessa |

Came here with my sister. The servers and bartenders are all great, and the food was really good too! The only thing was the beer choices were all a litle too hoppy for us both. We had the sampler and ended up wasting a lot of them...such a sin :(

chinzy sandwitch

By LindasColorado |

On February 2 I ordered a Gear Grinder sandwich. The menu stated that the ingredients are piled high on a hoagie roll. The slice of tomato (which was maybe a quarter inch thick) was thicker than the ingredients. A piece of lettuce took up most of the sandwich except for the roll which was about three inches thick. I expected a lot more for the price of the sandwich and the restaurant's reputation.

BUSY BUT WORTH THE WAIT

This craft brewery has something for all discerning tastes. Beer shots are available at no charge. Diverse menu has many surprises (eg. German, Italian, French cuisine). The calzone was enormous and awesome tasting.

Good regular pub to visit!

By cumbria_lake |

A good menu with something for most people (and a lot of locally-sourced food), and extensive beer list (HUB IPA is one of the best in Portland - in my opinion, I;' sure many other people will differ). We use this place as our fall-back if we cant think of somewhere new to visit from Portland's many, many craft beer bars.

Food is Plentiful, But the Beer Remains King

By DickandMary R |

It has been several years since we were last at HUB. So, we decided to return on the way back from Mt Hood. Asa usual, the beer was excellent, my British IPA and daughter's Hefeweisen were most enjoyable. Overall, I would rate the food good; Fo the relatively high price, there is plenty to eat. My calzone could have fed two. My wife and daughter shared a pizaa, which was more than plenty. Three of us shared the salad (why the Ceasar had to be dolled up with artichokes, olives, and cucumbers, I am not sure). I cannot rate the food very good, so average must do. The downfall was meal pacing. We ere seated at about 6:25. Ou breadsticks arri/ved a 6:55 (so much as those for an appetizaer), Salad arrived about two minutes later and the main course with 5 minutes. So for dinner, all toghether, we had bread sticks, slad, and entre. Service was good. It probably will be a while since we return. Portland has too many other choices, even for brewpubs.

Great for kids

Great food, great environment. Service was a little inattentive. The portobello mushroom sandwich and calzones were a hit. There is a kid area that kept our little ones entertained. That was. AWESOME!

Good food, beer and a family friendly atmosphere!

A great selection of their brews to satisfy any taste. Accompany with a stein of pretzels to get started. My favorite beer is the Survival Stout. as for sandwiches, the bbq pulled pork is always great, as are the Pollo Rojo grilled chicken and the chicken club. Family friendly!

Great Dinner Spot With real Portland Flavor

By Henry R |

After driving around a few quiet residential streets following a typical GPS route through north Portland we arrived at a hub of activity. Reviewed on line as "family friendly" our initial impression was that this is a licensed pub only not for under 21 but to our great pleasure this interesting building is bigger then it looks and includes a large very family friendly restaurant with great service and food to satisfy all of our family including a vegetarian. Highly recommend for a great Portland Brew Pub experience!

Sooo good

By RaeLeeAnne |

I love this place! We don't make it to Portland very often but when we do, this is the place we have to eat at. I love the pretzels, pizza and of course, the beer. Service is good and it's not too spendy. If you haven't tried it yet, you should.

The locals brewery

By Gail K |

as a beer lover who enjoys the craftier and local scene more than the larger, more well-known places, this was my favorite of all the breweries (3) i hit while in Portland. Solid beer list, caters a bit more to higher ABV which is fine except I drove, so that limited my options for this trip. Be sure to walk or transit to fully enjoy it. The menu was good, but if you take out the food, make sure to ask for utensils and napkins. Staff was friendly but it's the kind of place that repeat business or clearly being a beer person goes along way. Only regret? I could only bring one 22oz home in my suitcase and it's not distributed where I live.

15 beers for $12 - We like!

By NicoleG |

If you want to try as many of their beers as possible - go for the 15 samplers for $12. A must visit brewery for Portland... cool bike-decorated bar and GREAT beers. That stout was incredible!!

Great Atmosphere, Staff, Cleanliness as Well as Beer and Food Selection

By John B |

A newish restaurant with a cycling themed motif with an eye towards sustainability We try to hit the happy hour on Sunday nights as the happy hour food menu is terrific. Hop works craft beers are extensive and they promote the subtleties and metrics of their brews on the huge chalkboard which runs the length of the bar. There is also a family section as well as big screens and a loft section

Nice Family Friendly Beer Spot

By Patstravel |

The food was average (hence the 3 stars) but the beer choices deserve a higher rating. There was a nice atmosphere, particularly for people with young kids as there are 3 different easy to monitor play areas near dining tables for youngsters to enjoy while adults enjoy their meals. Yet the inviting bar area is kid free. We'd go back!

Bring out of town friends here

By FunkyKnitsByGeorgia |

We brought an LA friend here while he was visiting - he's a bike guy - so of course the atmosphere was fitting with all of the bike frames as the decor. But we really brought him because the service is always great, the beer is cold with a great selection of ciders too, and the food is always good. YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE PRETZELS!! Lots of healthy choices, for meat eaters, veggies, and vegan. We also take the kids here after a sports game; if you come right before dinner rush you never really have to wait long for a table. If you do have to wait, there is nice outside seating for pleasant weather days, and the kids get free sodas while you wait.

Neighborhood Pub

By randallb215 |

Although we walkedk through the bar - where the TVs were set to the Olympics and the music is "tavern-loud" - we went back to the family area and had a great, relaxing meal. The service was fantastic, the beer cold, their bourbon deliciously smooth and the faire was great!

Cannot say enough about this place

By Explorer679907 |

Food was phenomenal. Kids area is wonderful. Service was great. My only complaint is the wait can be long if you go between 6-8pm and want the family area where kids are allowed. But I guess that's a testament to how great the place is!

Great Beer and Gigantic Entrees

By DT705 |

We finished a busy Saturday here. After a short wait we scored a booth in this bicycle themed brew pub. My son ordered the sampler and out came out 15 very different brews. There was a taste for every palate. The winter Abominable was a great hit. Some ales were way too complicated for my tastes. We saw gigantic calzones and spectacular burgers rolling out to tables. It is also a very family friendly establishment, so Mom and Dad beer lovers can enjoy their favorites with the kids. Sensibly of course. It was a fun pub and looks to have many loyal followers.
