Convenient restaurant while staying at the Holiday Inn Express across the street, nestled amongst car dealerships. The assorted menu gives the palette many choices of meat, vegetable, pasta and salad dishes. I chose the steamed vegetables and a sultry chocolate malt which was served elegantly in a tall fluted champagne glass drizzled ever so slightly on the inside of the glass with chocolate syrup and topped with whipping cream. My friend ordered the vegetable pasta and was very pleased with the flavors. All was served quickly with a beautiful smile and gratitude. Clean and pleasant with Booths, Tables and Bar seating. Beautiful, casual dinner experience. Thank you!

My husband bought his car at Galpin so he was given a voucher for a free dinner for two. I really wasn't expecting it to be anything special, but i was blown away by the incredible food and the outstanding service. I can't wait to go back..i'm addicted to their cheesecake!!

We go to dinner every Friday night with a group and their private dining room is just perfect for dinner & conversation. Portions are very generous. About half of our group had their dinner which includes salad or soup, rolls & an entree. Very reasonable prices as well. Our group will go back after the 1st of the year. Not much parking but space in the lot across the street.

I don’t know if it is fair to give the restaurant 5 stars for one item, but I love this item so much, I have to share my experience. I have only had the waffle at The Horseless Carriage. It is absolutely the best waffle I have ever had; anywhere! I don’t know what they do. It is crunchy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. It is served with melted butter and hot syrup on the side. If you like waffles, you have to stop in and try it. I live in KC and anytime I go to LA, I make a point of stopping in for this waffle. Seriously. The BEST WAFFLE EVER! By the way, the service is always exceptional.

Friendly, efficient, with lots of turquoise and chrome, it feels like one of the last of the original Thunderbirds. In here, Nixon is still President. The food is variable but generally good for a diner, and the prices on the specials will take you back to your childhood. I think the Filet Mignon plate was $14.95. Like Galpin Ford itself, this is a place where you can show off the glorious of American Capitalism. They should copy this and include it as part of every world's fair. In short, I like it so much it makes getting my car serviced at the attached Ford Dealership (the largest in the world) almost a pleasure.

First off, while we were eating the employees let a man with a dog inside. This is not Europe, they should have known better. Not busy at all, but waited longer than should have to get our food. The food sat on the kitchen window while our waitress helped take a to go order - the other waitress saw our food and did noting. The hamburger steak was very overcooked but the waitress was too "busy" on her cellphone and whatever to check in on us. Food and overall was disappointing. No need to ever go back!

The Horseless Carriage Restaurant has been serving great food at great prices for many years. Never heard of it? Just go to Galpin Ford on Roscoe Blvd., just east of the 405 freeway in the San Fernando Valley. I had sausage, eggs, hash browns, toast and coffee for less than 10 bucks. And, most importantly, it was delicious. The service was excellent too.

This area is Galpin Car Dealer central. However, tucked away in one of their lots (not really tucked, it's in the front), is a darling diner. It was sparkling clean, and the menu had lots of nice choices (Daily Specials, too). We were there during a slow period (early dinner hour), so the place wasn't busy. Our server was pleasant, responsive, and attentive, yet not hovering. Our food was delicious, and it came decorated w a flower--who'd a' thought? They had a nice assortment of desserts--we were too full to try any, and I wish we had planned ahead for it. We enjoyed it, and it was very convenient--we were staying right around the corner.

I went here on a recommendation from Holiday Inn Express staff. The staff here are friendly. The food was served hot and was average in flavor. The steak was a little burnt on the outside, but still edible. I would eat here again if in the area. Enjoy.

Good fun, decent food and at a fair price. Unique location and the only decent place to eat near the Holiday Inn.

They have a good variety of food on the menu, and always have daily specials. The waitresses are friendly and the food tastes great. The carrot cake is the best.

Went to GALPIN to purchase a car and while paperwork was being done, ROBERT GUERRERO surprised me with a lunch treat at their on site restaurant. Excellent service, food and friendly. A gem hidden away. They even made a delicious meat paddy for my dog Briski. Melissa, server, was especially professional. Thanks everyone.

We have been here 3 times in all. It is on the Galpin Ford lot of all places & parking is murder. It looks like a 50s diner but is new & shiny. Food is rather expensive but very good. Learned on Trip Advisor that there is an auto museum here too. We are going there at 1pm. Need to call for reservations.

In town for a visit I ate there 2 nights in a row. Pastrami on rye 👍🏻 And fish and chips the next night. 👌🏻 It’s attached to a Ford dealer showroom. Wait staff was on point and attentive. Chefs cook up some good food.

I make it a point to eat here whenever I have my car serviced at Galpin. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner they serve a well-prepared dish. There is also good values throughout the menu.

Diner like atmosphere. Huge menu with everything from breakfast offerings all day long, to steaks, pasta, Mexican, Buffalo, sandwiches galore. Fruit pies made in house were delicious. Beef tacos were great with just the right amount of heat. Hamburgers were delicious too, all cooked to order. Don’t let the fact that this restaurant is connected with Galpin Ford. No, they don’t try and sell you a car...

Always my go-to when I can't think of anything else. Many excellent items. World-class chef... you'd bever guess it until you see so many regulars there. High-quality, ever-changing homemade soups, great service, low prices. Dynamite breakfasts, wonderful dinner specials. Really hard to beat. Wish it was closer, but that hasn't stopped me from eating there maybe a hundred times!

One of the convenient things about taking my car to Galpin for maintenance is the fact that I can grab a full meal. It's so unusual to have a full restaurant attached to a dealership. The food is classic American, and it comes at a casual price. The early-bird breakfast is always a great deal! The cost of maintenance, well, that's another story.

I had the chance to eat here a few times the week I was in California for business. I liked my breakfast more than lunch but overall, all dining experiences here were pleasant. This was a first-visiting a dealership and them having a full service restaurant!

Had a long 13hr day in a work orientation and coworkers and my self were starving, the holiday inn hotel staff recommended here and im so glad. At first it seems like a little diner but then you see the waiters and they are dressed fancy. They had a good Menu they had a $19.99 prime rib special that came with baked potato, veggies, salad and pie! They serve wine and beer also, no mixed drinks. The food was really good but the containers they put them in melted when i tried to microwave my food and i was in a hotel so i didnt have any other options. I would go again everyone enjoyed their meals and the service, i had a chocolate cream pie also that was soo good!!!

We have been to eat here for breakfast, lunch and recently, dinner. We've had breakfast and lunch items on a few occasions; the food is wonderful, and the servings are plenty! My husband and I went for our first dinner here last week, and we both had the prime rib dinner. We were not pleased with the way the whole meal turned out, as the prime rib did not seem to be cooked right, the fresh veggies were not softened enough and the baked potato was over baked. Knowing all of their other food choices are great, we will be back again, and at that time we will try another steak dinner instead! Overall, we had a good time!

You would not expect to find such an excellent restaurant in a car dealership (Galpin Ford)! The food is outstanding and the service is great. Always busy but worth the short wait for a booth. Also have a counter. Well worth the visit.

Read about this place with the strange setup, decided to give it a go. Diner is very clean with great service. Wife had the la pollo lista chicken, rice and cheese, healthy apparently. I had what I thought was comfort food, spaghetti bologna’s. Both were excellent, very tasty and plentiful. So much better then diner food. Recommended.

Don’t listen to those who say this is an average place. I will say I didn’t expect much at a place that is part of a car dealership but I was proven wrong. While here on business I came for both dinner and breakfast the following morning. Both meals were way about average, hot and tasty, with excellent service in a very nice diner type atmosphere. When in the area I would highly recommend.

I go there often for breakfast and I'm never disappointed. The food is good, the prices are fair and the staff is friendly.

Great food & service makes this a treat to dine @ The Horseless Carriage...save room for dessert, as their pies are incredible!

We walked from our motel to the Horseless Carriage which is connected by a glass door to the Ford dealership (step in and browse the cars). We were quickly seated, and the staff was very attentive throughout our stay (I couldn't get my lemonade below the 2" mark before a waiter was there topping it off). The portions are generous, and the staff is very accommodating of special requests. Any traveler to the area should try it at least once, in order to say they ate at a Ford dealership!

One of my favorite restaurants in the San fernando valley. Old diner charm located in the Galpin Ford dealership--unusual location on busy Roscoe blvd but priceless gem. It's the kind of place Anthony Bourdain should go for their infamous Old School Prime Rib or old fashioned chocolate creme pie. Restaurants have stopped cooking like this in todays world. It's not too large and I'm almost concerned to review it because then it might be even busier than it is already!! After all the great meals I've had there, I felt an obligation to give it its due! My only complaint would be some of the staff should be more watchful of the tables needs/requests as often they are busy and don't check back on tables enough But overall nice and pleasant service. True gem to discover in an area not known for culinary delights. It explains why they've been there for several decades. Tip--Check their website for nightly dinner specials!

This was recommended to us by Galpin Auto Sports and it was great. We just had burgers and fries, but were treated to free soda and ice cream for dessert.

Had time to spare so we tried this place that is literally inside the Galpin Ford dealership which was a unexpected, but cool. The food was phenomenal and almost made up for the lackluster service we received. I had the crab cake eggs benedict and my husband had an amazing omelet which is where the awesomeness of this restaurant ended. There were obvious car deals being made at the tables around us and some of the salespeople were coming in to get their regular orders which seem to bump our order. This was very upsetting especially since the restaurant wasn’t even close to being busy. In addition, there was PLENTY of staff walking around none of which checked in with us, but kept talking about an amazing dish one of the chefs created to add to the menu. A few of them including our waitress went back there to try it with two of them coming out to the front eating the dish while we were still waiting for our food. The cherry on top was the desert fiasco (pun intended). They had an advertisement on the table for their Saturday & Sunday brunch specials that included a delicious looking strawberry bread pudding. I asked the waitress her thoughts and she convinced me that I would be a fool to leave there without trying it. After about 10 minutes of my mouth watering, our waitress tells me that they made the bread pudding the day before and forgot to refrigerate it so it went bad. Not only did she wait 10 minutes to tell me something I am sure she knew the minute she put the order in, she didn’t offer any type of consolation. I can understand people making mistakes, but after the service I received and my sweet tooth denied its desert, I was annoyed! Given that the food we had was so delicious, I am willing to give this place another try, but they will HAVE TO STEP UP THE SERVICE and take care of patrons who are not buying cars. Also, they better have that strawberry bread pudding!

I stopped by today at the Horseless Carriage for lunch. The restaurant is sparkling clean! I sat at the counter and was greeted right away. The service is fast and with a smile! I ordered the Reuben, which was accompanied by fries and coleslaw. The meat was lean which was served on toasted rye bread. The coleslaw was fresh with a generous amount of fries. It was more than enough to satisfy my appetite. Next time I will order dessert and try some of their interesting specialty entrees.

The Horseless Carriage Restaurant is an interesting place. It was opened in 1966 for the customers of the Galpin Ford dealership which it’s attached to. At first glance I thought it was a diner but when I got the food I knew it was special and was told by our server that their chefs have high-end dining in their resumes and it shows. For example, the Belgian waffle is served with melted butter and hot maple syrup on the side that you apply yourself. It’s little touches like this that make this place unique. My husband and my favorite breakfast here is to split two dishes, the “Lobster & Eggs: sautéed lobster, peppers & onions served over homestyle potatoes, topped with cheese and sour cream” (we get the eggs scrambled + have the sourdough toast) & the “Authentic Belgium Waffle: served with melted butter and warm maple syrup.” I’ve been to Belgium and had their waffles and these are just like them. Yummy! When you’re done with your meal you can tour the Ford dealership without leaving the building. Not a huge parking lot but we’ve always found a spot in the lot. Lots of outdoor seating on their dog-friendly patio and they bring our water for the dogs. All in all a little gem of a place if you’re looking for upscale rib-sticking diner food.

Check out their changing menu online. You'd never believe this tasty diner is tucked away in an auto dealership on roscoe. Great food, true gem in the city.

Full disclosure. I work at Galpin Motors, the parent company of this restaurant. How lucky I am. For over 30 years I have enjoyed the Horseless Carriage, sometimes twice a day. The menu items alone are great, but the daily specials from Chef Geovanni are amazing. Formerly of the Beverly Hills hotel, Chef Geo creates haute-cuisine worthy of any fine dining establishment at a fraction of the price within a wonderful 'diner' atmosphere (booth and counter seating). From fresh home-made comfort food basics to specials like wild-caught Californian Sea Bass over pesto basil linguini, the Horseless Carriage has something for everyone. Vegans and vegetarians will not be disappointed as well. The HC also offers all-natural ranch-raised Bison steaks, burgers and CHILI! Yes, home-made real Bison/Buffalo Chili! You won't be dissatisfied. As a bonus, get a look at all the latest new vehicles Galpin has to offer!

We had a dinner here in this restaurant while we stayed in the near HI Express. Not bad. Typical american food with a great service.

We were seated quickly. The service is great. Our food came out as ordered. The taste was very good and the portion size was adequate. The pie looked great but was not very sweet for a fruit pie. We had two different kinds so it was not just one pie. If they are unsweetened I wish we had been told.

Cute diner attached to the Galpin Ford Dealership. Nice staff and food was ok. The potato soup was excellent but my burger was not the best quality. Dad enjoyed his food. Seating was comfortable and environment was laid back. It was nice to sit and relax for a bit.It was not the best food ever but it hit the spot since we were hungry.

When we pull up and the restaurant was in a car dealership we were a little concerned. It looks like a little diner. Once inside everything was fabulous!!! Water and drinks brought to the table right away. Great menu and even nightly specials. I ordered a chicken burrito. It came with a house salad, and the burrito was so big I could only eat half. The problem was it was so good I still ate more than I should have. My husband ordered the prime rib, and again sooo much food. It too came with a house salad, which was also a good size. The dinner plate had the Primerib, roll, steamed veggies and he had the fries. Again sooo much food. We are having leftovers for breakfast. What a great surprise this restaurant is. Will we come back here again. Most certainly!!

Went her for dinner based on the decent reviews on TA while in the area for business. Sat at the counter and received adequate service but nothing more. Servers seemed bored. Food was average as well, unremarkable. All in all the place served its purpose but I wouldn’t return except for convenience sake.

This is a restaurant inside Galpin Motors which is an attraction in itself. I ate there 2 nights since my hotel was across the street. The first night I had the Bleu burger which was a fresh thick burger with lots of bleu cheese and bacon. It was cooked just right and the roll was soft. The french fries were thin but nothing extraordinary. I finished with the coconut cream pie which was a huge piece of pie with a flaky crust and rich thich coconut cream. I sat outside by the heater and it was comfortable. Service was very good that night. The second night, I again sat outside but service was quite slow. The food however was still good. I had the BLT but skipped the french fries and the waitress offered me more cole slaw as well as another side of fresh tomatoes. Lots of freshly cooked bacon and good sourdough bread. I couldn't resist the pies so I had the chocolate cream which was again delicous and rich. Prices were very reasonable. Since I walked, I can't comment on the parking. There does appear to be a big parking lot behind the Galpin Jaguar. Galpin is quite a complex and I love the idea a having car maintenance and a Starbucks or restaurant to wait . Nice diner like area inside with booths and counter seats.

My wife, son (11), and I ate at the Horseless Carriage while we waited to get a new tire on our Mustang at Galpin Ford. There was SO much to choose from and after the tough choice of what to order, we all enjoyed what we had.

Went there with business associates for lunch. What a great concept. A restaurant within a Ford dealership. Staff was great, the service was great, the food was very good also. Highly recommend as a place for a quick lunch.

Our family has been talking about going to eat here for a while. My family loved. Service was A1. Will be going back.

We ate lunch here while staying at the Holiday Inn across the street. It was within walking distance from the hotel, and seems to be one of the only nice places for lunch in the area, other than fast food. The food was simple but good and reasonably priced. The decor is old diner style, as well as the food. I ordered the teriyaki beef salad; tender strips of steak glazed in teriyaki sauce over a bed of fresh greens and grilled vegetables. My wife ordered the chicken burger. Both were good. What's unique about this diner is it is part of the Galpin Motors Car Dealership. What a great idea! You can drop your car off for service and have a nice breakfast of lunch while you wait.
Perfect Wait
Galpin has superior service for your auto and while waiting, take advantage of the Horseless Carriage adjacent to where your car is being serviced. Breakfast, lunch and dinner available. Some of you may recall eating in a diner. Go for it. Great menu, great prices, great staff, great food. Even if your car is in perfect running order, use it to get to the Horseless Carriage.
