Looks so dodgy but it's in the middle of Chinatown and really cheap. You pick some dumplings, they come on a paper plate and tray, place is grubby but food was good. Not the typical place I would normally go to as I'm such a princess but wanted to try something in Chinatown, biggest outside of China. Can recommend the pork dumplings and shrimp (š¤ prawns as we call them back home). Not good for kids if they are not adventurous with food.

I have never had this much dim sum ever. Very good food and large portions . Will come back again in the area . First time my wonton soup had more wonton than soup .

We went while on vacation. Great variety. This is a cafeteria kind of place. There is a very small sitting area and they serve the dumplims on plates that get cold after a bit. Chinese customers favored the establisment, a strong sign that the food is good.

Went here based on a Frommer's recommendation and just could not believe anyone would recommend it. Cheap, but nasty. Reheated dumplings that had been sitting about - edible, sure, but easily the worst I have had - that made us feel sightly queasy afterwards. Served on one big plate with a plastic fork and no dishes for dipping sauce. Stay away.

Got lunch here. Didnāt know what to order, and staff member asked if it was a snack or lunch. We said lunch and she said sheād give us a sample of some dim sum to share (for 4 adults). She kept piling on the food. We kept saying it was too much. It cost us over $100 and was mediocre at best. We packed up the left overs ( 3 boxes) and gave it to a street person. Lesson learned. Leave if anyone tries to pressure into something you donāt want.

The dim sum is outstanding. You order food from what you see, pay for it, and look for a seat (very limited) or take it to go. The line was out the door. This is rustic and authentic. If you wish good, fresh dim sum in an authentic atmosphere and do not mind the wait, this is the place.

We wanted to try some dim sum -stopped at the House of Dim Sum. We were not disappointed. This was a cool experience in Chinatown

This dim sum place is a fast pace joint with all the dim sum you can imagine, they got it all here. Problem is how much can you eat ? Good dim sum for sure, not much than dinning in a restaurant, but good if your in a hurry or large parties as wellā¦ā¦ I was wdsnt disappointed at all !!

I really enjoy this place. We've been a lot of times ... in fact, everytime I'm in the city I need to eat here. The servers are so pleasant and this is some of the best dim sum we've had ... and we've done dimmie-summie as we call it in Chicago, New York, Toronto and SanFran China towns. Yep, this is good dim sum and we'll drop by everytime we can.

Small restaurant catering to the local residents of the neighborhood. Nothing touristy about this restaurant - thank goodness! Fantastic food (we ate there 2 nights), inexpensive and helpful staff.

First time to be here on a group tour. This place is nasty and filthy. It has that moldy smell...its just gross. Their food and mop, other cleaning products are just in one place-together!

Very authentic, waiter very knowledgeable on translation and accommodation for non Chinese speaking tourists, although most customers spoke Chinese (good sign?)

Nothing fancy but just what we were looking for at lunch. Tried several different dumplings plus the fried noodles. Everything tasted good.

A traditional place to eat Chinese food. Everything is very rich. It was totally worth it. The fried rice is spectacular!

Do not expect any proper food plating , it's a straightforward no frills place. The dim sum doesn't look very good but when u eat them the flavors are fantastic. We had Siew Mai (Pork Dumpling) , Ha Kow (Shrimp dumpling) , Turnip Cake , Pork Ribs and Wanton Noodle soup. Very very good. If u want good service and a fancy experience, this is not the place to go.

Seriously?!?!?! This is not dim sum. This is a filthy take-out restaurant with really disgusting food. Nasty food sitting out and then heated in a microwave after ordering. Gross!

This restaurant in Chinatown San Francisco Is a very good option for you guys, you'll find very delicious plates Good price and the opportunity to enjoy traditional Chinese food

This was a good place for us as it is no frills. You walk in, order at the counter and pick a table. Great way to try a bunch of new things. I went back to the counter twice to order more. It's cheap and good food. It's a hole in a wall, nothing fancy but that's what we were looking for.

Older store front with lines of locals. Nice staff helped with language barrier of me not speaking Chinese. Food was great!! Great price

We chanced on this tiny place while walking through Chinatown. We wanted a cheap meal and we didn't want to spend too long over lunch. That was what we got. A good selection of dim sum. It was clean and the restrooms were OK.

My wife and I were looking for a place to eat lunch in Chinatown. After visiting the fortune cookie factory we went around the corner and found the House of Dim Sum. Friendly staff and pretty good food. I would recommend to family member or friend.

I had never had dim sum before, but since I was staying in Chinatown, I figured I should give it a try. The lady behind the counter had to tell me what everything was, so I tried a little of everything. The food was tasty and did seem to be authentic. They build your plate as you order at the counter, then you pay and sit to eat.

Definitely hole in the wall. We were rushed through our group order, ending up with two paper plates of dumplings, put stickers, and fried rice. Okay, not great.

Nivel place to enjoy simple chinese good, eficient and pleasant familiar staff in an simple but confortable site. Enjoyable!

I stopped by to pick up a couple of pork buns as a snack during a long walk around the city. I loved the sweet glaze on the buns and the pork tasted excellent. They were fairly small compared to others I've had, but they were only $1.50 each. Not bad, but I look forward to stopping by other bakeries in Chinatown.

Selection isn't great but the dim sum is fresh and tasty. Prices are reasonable. Have tasted better dim sum elsewhere but worthwhile place to visit.

My wife and I stumbled onto this little hole in the wall on our first trip to San Francisco's Chinatown 4 years ago. Each time we come back to visit this wonderful city we walk over to Chinatown to enjoy these beauties! This time we had 4 potstickers and 4 spicy pork dumplings for a grand total of $6. It's not luxurious by any means but it's a great value for really good authentic dim sum

Tried this restaurant just after lunch time and it was fairly busy. Huge selection of Dim Sum which you can pick by pointing at the menu or just pointing at the food. The selection we had was a little hit-and-miss, some very good, some not very good. None of it was particularly hot which is a little worrying, especially when it comes to rice. It's not expensive but also not really very friendly or welcoming. I probably wouldn't visit again as I know you can find better in the same vicinity.

If you like dim sum that sits around, is then microwaved and boba tea that tastes like hell, this place is for you. Otherwise steer clear. We were hungry and tired and they had tables. Definitely would not go back or wish this food on anyone.

Loved this little, unassuming restaurant! The servers were so willing to accomodate our restrictions (vegetarian), and gave us extra helpings of everything. The ladies behind the counter just decided for us, and piled veggie egg rolls, veggie chow mien, sesame balls, spinach dim sum, and veggie bao. Very affordable and good. Went back a couple of times, and by the third time, the lady who served us recognized us (with mask and all), and started our order even before we said anything! Personalized service at its best.

Some of the dim sum restaurants do not have seating, but House does! (few tables downstairs, more upstairs)The ladies who run the counter are very helpful, and there is a photo type menu behind them, that is very helpful! We had one each of: sticky rice with chicken (1 is large enough to split;comes wrapped in a large leaf) one won ton (filled with pork and veggies, very good) one spinach dumpling one pork bun (the bread/snadwich looking kind; sweet-ish(like Hawaiian bread style, fluffy and good) bread with a chopped pork filling, not the ones that look like big, white sea urchins) one won ton soup (the lady called up to order this, it took about 10 minutes, and was a large, steaming bowl with great won tons and veggies in a very good broth, not overly salty,,nice. One is enough to share) one shrmip wrapped in white noodles (not my fave, would skip next time). We enjoyed trying things, and splitting all of these was plenty of food for we two women, and we were pretty hungry. Varied sauces to try on each table, too. Two cold canned Cokes, and the total bill was $20. CASH ONLY. They also had some baked goods and cookies, but we had coconut buns earlier from a bakery down the street (ask for them ,they are kept refrigerated, so not seen in the counter displays) Definitely on our list for good dim sum, when we visit C-town in the future!

If you have travelled in SE Asia and China then this place will seem fine to you - with cheap furniture and mint green walls and DIY service. The dim sum is good value - tasty 4 pieces for $3. So 2 plates for $6 would do most people for a light lunch and you can mix and match your dumplings. Only downside was that the dumplings could have been hotter but maybe it was because we were there at 2.30pm.

I made the mistake of sitting in the downstairs section of the restaurant not realizing there was an option to sit upstairs and be served as I had expected. I sat at a table downstairs for a while waiting for service. No sign or person was available to let me know the upstairs was an option. Finally went to counter and picked stuff out. Not a smart idea. Cold, old and soggy. Bummer. Bad decision on my part.

Situated in China town, the food itself is really nice and reasonably priced far as San Francisco is concerned, the decor is another matter as it seems it had better days (kind of reminds me of some of these restaurants in Hong Kong) but don't let that put you off, also saw some desserts they sell, sadly I was too full to try it out and was my last day before catching my flight !! Always next time ! So if you want good food and reasonable prices then I suggest this place !!

This is A Dim Sum shop. The service is fast, staff are friendly and the food is tasty. You can get in and out on a typical day quickly. The selection is quite good. So if you like Chinese "fast food", which is Dim Sum in a flash, this is the place!!

This is exactly the kind of mom and pop dim sum restaurant I hoped to find in San Francisco's Chinatown. After pacing Jackson Street, which is crammed door to door with similar places, I finally talked my companions into trying this one. Stayed with the steamed pork, as recommended by locals, as well as veggie dumplings, and sesame rolls. Picked items from the helpful photo menu. Lovely display case with dozens of choices. It's mostly a take-out place, but the few tables downstairs were full, and we found a seat upstairs. Okay, plastic forks, paper plates, tired decor, impatient servers, but good dim sum. Not the sit-down Chinese restaurant experience that some might want. But it's what I came for.

The lady making my plate was very patient with me. You can pick out exactly which items you want. It is possible to try one of everything. I liked the pork dumpling best. She recommended the sesame ball and it was really good. I highly recommend a meal here and would come back if Iām ever in San Fran again. Tables for sitting outside on a nice day as well.

This place should be shut down itās a nightmare do not spend any money or visit watch yourself this lady is a master hustler something needs to be ā

Very basic slightly scruffy and slightly grubby place of the sort I would normally avoid, BUT-when in Rome (or SF!) Not sure what we had some were Ok but some were really good. As has been said its all paper plates and no frills but its very cheap and mostly very good food

My Mom and I went here for lunch and ordered 8 dumplings (4 spinach and 4 shrimp). They cost us just $5 (cheap cheap cheap for San Fran) and were very filing. The woman who served us was very friendly and the location is fairly easy to find. The restaurant is very basic (no wildly amazing views or incredible decor) but we were just looking for a quick, easy meal so we could continue exploring. If you're looking for something to eat in China Town this is definitely a place to go!

My husband and I shared a plate of steamed veggie, chicken, and pork dumplings. The service was very fast and it was delicious and very inexpensive. I'd recommend.

Small cafe type place, they speak English and are happy to explain the menu to you. Bought sticky pork, prawn dim sum, noodles and a water for $6.50 and I was stuffed afterwards. Would definitely recommend checking out this little gem!!

This is a locals place and they have EXCELLENT Dim Sum!!! You need to get past the "sketchy" interior and focus all of your attention on the Dim Sum staring you in the face behind the glass counter. The service is very good as well and it is really counter ordering, they give you your food on paper plates - on a tray, you order what you want to drink and you find a table to sit down and chow down. Did I mention that the Dim Sum is EXCELLENT? Even though it is no frills, it hit the spot for what we wanted. Check it out.

We were too hungry to walk further so we ducked into this hole in the wall place which had good reviews. The food was OK, your typical Chinese Dim Sum and luncheon foods, but the price was a bit for a no frills, not too clean restaurant with no ambiance.

Great authentic lunch experience with good food in China Town. Try the BBQ Pork Buns and the Park Dumplins.

leftover dim sum from lunch (assumed), microwaved. rude staff that rushed us in making a decision even though we were the only customers.

Saw the menu and thought you ordered and cooked for you. Ended up being given left over dimsum mircowaved with horrible service. One of the worst meals and service we have ever experienced. From our experience would recommend to avoid

We landed in San Francisco and wanted some lunch. We found a different Dim Sum restaurant but it was lined up down the street. We jaywalked across the street to the House of Dim Sum. We were greated by a lovely, smiling young lady. We told here we had never had Dim Sum and she told we had come to the right place. She set us up with ten dumplings, rice and noodles with a mango tea. It was wonderful! Although we have visited San Francisco and Chinatown many times this was our first Dim Sum. All other places have a lot to live up to.

They have a variety of Dim sum - meat, pork, shrimp and vegetarian. All were very good. We also tried the noodles which were not special. A great place for people who loves Dim sum like we do.

We were ordered 8 dishes and when we recieved our order, we saw the portions were exceptionally large, we thought nothing of it, but asked a staff member to be sure. They said that it was normal portions, and as sent a dish back as it was way too much, and others near us had significantly less portions than us. When we asked for the bill, we were flabbergasted to realise that our bill was over 300 DOLLARS, for a Dim Sum LUNCH! When we spoke to the manager, she kept lying and saying that the price was for one portion, which was clearly a sham as our neighbouring tables had much smaller portions. She then agreed to drop it down to 70$, which was reasonable, and shows that they tried to take advantage of tourists, even though half of the party were Cantonese speakers from the state. We were shocked to see how many people had the same experience as us while we were reading the reviews, itās clear they know what they doing. In the end, food was wasted, and they have a negative review. What a shame. I highly recommend you steer clear of this place, we wonāt be back anytime soon.

We decided we had to have dim sum for breakfast in San Francisco's China Town! Its a little take out or eat in place with freshly prepared dim sum...with the help of the server we shared a good variety and it was all delicious. Watched many locals come and go, which is a good sign that the food was good. Highly recommended

Although we were bummed our 1st choice for excellent Dim Sum was closed for the holiday weekend, we were happy to find this place in the neighborhood we were in. The line moves quickly and choices pretty standard for good food. Only a couple small tables to eat at downstairs but about a dozen tables upstairs and restrooms too. Prices reasonable and service attentive to needs.

Do not go to this place. Worst dim sum Iāve ever had. Service sucked and the bathroom was disgusting!

If the line at the Good Mong Kok bakery is too daunting, just head around the corner to House Of Dim Sum. Friendly folks behind the counter who will speak English to you, and delicious Dim Sum, baked Buns, and Sweets.

We were looking to avoid the overpriced, touristy places to eat in Chinatown, and then we saw House of Dim Sum. Seating is limited, English is not a first language, and cash is required--but for $40 bucks my hungry family with two older teens sated our big appetites with plenteous and delicious Dim Sum items AND drinks! We ordered a wide variety and did not have any disappointments. My son's baked pork buns, however, were the stars of the meal. The one kind of drink is also very good--we all ordered the Mango flavor and it was really good. So take a chance, go local, and eat cheaply and well!

The food is yummy just be sure to come early for lunch and get the best!

Delicious food, but be careful not to order too much. I had the shrimp and pork dim sum, some chicken potstickers and a pork and veg steam bun. They will try to give you a deal (3 for $5), but if you want just one, insist on it and they will listen š. Sit outside on a nice day and try the soy or siracha sauce with it - but in small doses!!

This is a little hole in the wall place that squeezes as much people as possible so don't think of a quiet spacious surrounding but do expect awesome food! This place is always jumping and you will always be elbow to elbow with your neighbors but the Duck is so flavorful and so is the crunchy pork! I had the shrimp won ton soup and husband had the best mongolian beef he has ever had in his life (his words). The prices are so cheap you will walk out very satisfied.

When in Rome......or Chinatown, you gotta eat somewhere local with the cuisine you're there for. We just picked this one at random and were glad we did. Tried several items and all were very good. The sesame balls - delicious!

Came here for breakfast and got a good selection of dim sum. All was hot and tasty with a variety of flavours. Lots of locals eating too which is always a reassuring sign. Our first experience of bubble tea too!

We ordered dim sum and paid at counter. We took the dim sum to sit on the second floor. The dim sum is delicious at reasonable price. The restaurant is acceptable.

Should try harder, the milk tea is definitely not the HK version of milk tea, and the wanton noodles were disappointing.

Gotta admit I was nervous ordering here, but the food was good and cheap. Stopped in for a pre-lunch snack. Food looked fresh, but I'd suggest eating earlier in the day before everything sits out too long.

I have been coming here a few times over the years since it is not on one of the main streets where it gets too crowded for me. The food is not the best or most authentic but the price is definitely cheaper especially in the city. Every time the front staff have been extremely polite and considerate asking what we would like and made suggestions accordingly as we are vegetarian household. I often come back later in the day to get soy milk so we can make savory soy milk at home. If you are expecting four or five star food, don't come. If you are expecting nice sit down wait staff, don't come. But if you want some fast cheap grab to go food, this is the place for you.

Dim Sum is always a favorite food for my family, friends, and me. Sadly, the COVID pandemic has severely restricted dine-in options at many restaurants. It's particularly bad in Chinatown since it's very congested (the city has opened up a couple of blacks of Grant St. to accommodate diners recently). House of Dim Sum allows sit-down dining outdoors, but it's quite limited. This same confinement has further reduced the quality of their hand-made dumplings. Once things normalize, their quality and selections will certainly improve.

This place is "no-frills", however, if you want good Dim Sum - this is the place. A large plate of assorted Dim Sum and 2 drinks - $15.00. I also tried a bowl of their Won Ton Soup and it had 11 won tons in it for $5. Worth it and it was really good! A great place if you want authentic Dim Sum.

If you want to travel to Asia feel free to stop here. A teapot is served as water on arrival, the atmosphere is typical and the menu offers a wide choice. Generous and tasty dishes.

We went in here for a quick bite and ordered several dishes. They ranged in quality from okay to pretty good. We were looking for a particular item (fermented rice cake) and that was very good. However, the char siu bao was on the dry side with not as much filling as we've had at other places. The food was served on paper plates and we were given plastic utensils, sort of what one would get at a food court. There was no table service.

The dim sum place across the street had a line out of the building so we went into this dim sum and the food was not only delicious but cheap! We both ate till we were stuffed and it cost $10. Additional seating upstairs. Definitely try the cilantro and shrimp dim sum. Not to be missed

Fast food type dim sum where you pay at counter and then sit on first floor or go upstairs for a few more tables. Paper plates. Nothing fancy. We ordered egg tart, sesame ball with red bean paste, shui mai, har gow, vegetable egg rolls, and 2 mango boba drinks for $20. Egg tart was big and delicious. Cash only. Restrooms upstairs.

So much delicious food for the money is the short story. I think we tried every dim sum they had out. It was so good we went back for more. We also ordered the rice and noodles. That was okay, the real treat is the dim sum. I fed 5 people for less than $70 and had left overs!

We Came in from out of town chose this place for lunch people were friendly and food was delicious and fresh. Even though there were dumpings ready and available they gave us fresh ones from the kitchen

Absolutely disgusting. House of Dim Sum is a filthy tourist trap serving cold, stale food made with the cheapest ingredients they can get away with. No prices on the menu, dirty tables, and what little we ate made us sick the next day. As SF locals who actually know Chinatown, this was insulting. There are countless better dim sum spotsāHL Peninsula, Harborview, you name it. This place is a disgrace to the neighborhood. Avoid it at all costs.

The food was great there! The food prices were reasonable! Excellent service! We got seated very quickly despite them being busy that day! Restrooms were clean. Staff were nice and polite.

Walked to China Town for Dim Sum and the place we originally wanted was only take out. So we crossed the road and found this place.. Food was perfectly prepared and taste was excellent!!! In fact we came back a second day and had it again!! Would highly recommend it if you want great Dim Sum at a great price!!

We first read about the House of Dim Sum in a Frommer's travel guide on our first trip to San Francisco in 2003. It looks like quite the little dive, but inside you will find authentic, delicious dim sum! I have tried several different kinds, and love it all! The shrimp dumplings are really good, and the noodle soup is yummy! We have since been to San Francisco 3 more times, and go there each visit. It's a cheap meal!! This last trip just last week we were so disappointed to see that the House of Dim Sum was closed while the owners are on vacation. We about cried! We ended up across the street at a little buffet place that was okay, but was nowhere near as good!! We'll be back on our next visit!!

Saw this on trip advisor and as the reviews were good we thought weād give it a try. Ordered a variety of food which was all cold, spent $59 and ended up leaving half of it as it just wasnāt good. Maybe we just went there on a bad day as it was busy with mostly locals, but we would not recommend it.

I checked out this hole in the wall and had some dim sum. In all honesty I did not have high expectations and so was not really disappointed. The dumplings were on the cold side with the ends of the noodles also on the crunchy (uncooked) side. No big deal, but absolutely nothing worthy of repeating. If you're dying to eat then this place is better than nothing, but otherwise I would recommend to keep looking..

Many good choices of Dim Sum. The steamed shrimp dumplings were good, the pork & shrimp dumplings, both deep fried and steamed were also good. They have a few tables downstairs and a half a dozen more upstairs. It's more of a self serve bakery type of place, with very nice women behind the counter.

This is a great value if you want good dimsum in a friendly family-owned restaurant. It is clean but but the ambience is not great hence 4-stars instead of 5

735 Jackson Street, Chinatown. Came upon this by accident. An unimposing shop front but inside there is a fantastic array of about 50 different dim sums. From dumplings to noodles, rice cakes to cream buns. First you need to select the dim sums you want from the counter downstairs. Then you can either go upstairs to eat them or take them to eat elsewhere. Not to be missed

We were planning on trying a couple small things at a few different resturants in the area, but the dim sum was filling and cheap! For $5 my boyfriend and I got two orders of dim sum, each containing four little dims š Our friends ordered dim sum and sweet rice ball. The sweet rice ball ended up being a sweet rice cake, but their total was also $5 and delicious. Very small dining area, but well worth a stop!

Great experience. They offer a terrace in a quiet street which is very nice to eat. I went there with a friend at the end of a 3 weeks road trip. I do recommend 100%.

While on a tour with Mr. Toad, we made a stop for take-out dim sum (which was a really nice option on a 1030-130pm tour) at the House of Dim Sum. Don made some great recommendations and most of the group took advantage. I loved the shrimp dumplings best. The spicy pork dumpling was also good, but not very spicy. Great place to grab a snack!

We wanted to sample some authentic Dim Sum while in Chinatown without spending a small fortune. This place fitted the bill. The lady serving helped us make a selection using the pictures as English wasn't her first language. I wasn't sure if my 2 sons would enjoy the food but it was a resounding success. The seating areas inside are best described as functional and the food is served on paper plates but you don't go in here for an upmarket dining experience. Really good value for a genuine taste of Chinatown.

I will occasionally eat at a greasy spoon, hoping their food will so sumptuous nothing else matters. This was the not case at the HODS. Food was mediocre, the worst dim sum I have ever eaten. I came to San Francisco to dine on awesome dim sum, and instead was rewarded with the worst. Restaurant was very dirty, washrooms (don't bother). Paid tourist trap prices. Save yourself disappointment and pass on HODM.

Fantastic fresh street food, wonderful staff great portions and price. They have outside cover seating which is in the heart of Chinatown with fantastic people watching

The drinks were pure and the food looked very unappealing. The price was way of the chartsā¦. Only good thing was that the waiters were friendly

Chose this place based on TA reviews. Bare bones doesn't describe it. It's a hole in the wall. The food was mostly cold as was the service. If you want an authentic, impatient on the run meal this may be your place. If you want to sit &relax after a day of sightseeing, go elsewhere.

Ok, so this is one of those places that no tourist will venture in by themselves but they are so missing out. Walk in, it is a hole in the wall, tables are sticky, but the food! Worth more than you pay for! The Su Mi are wonderful, fresh, yummy shrimp dumplings and baked pork buns with coconut juice brushed on the top...Brilliant. Dick Lee's across the street claims all you can eat dim sume for $6.99? You can feed 3 people for that amount at House of Dim Sum.

A small walk-in and order at the counter joint.....Had wonton soup with noodles and 2 orders of shrimp dim sum 8 total...it cost about $12? It pretty much filled me and my friend...the soup has to be shared it is a huge bowl.....very good...except the employee s there are rude....they don't greet you or thank you for your business.....but from what I found out from other people that have been to China town some of the people are very rude and it's normal...or either they hate there job...went to another place down the street and we had a waiter who was courteous.. other then that excellent food if you don't mind employees who don't say thank you or respond when you ask for extra silverware..they give it you but they don't say "no problem coming right up"

Nice staff. Quick! Good Food. I wanted to try Chicken Feet, and they had them. I don't need to try again. But the rest of it was GREAT!!

Great dim sum at great prices. Three chive dumplings, 2 egg rolls, and a sesame ball for $5. The dumplings were especially good. They have some tables downstairs and up if you want to take a break from your Chinatown wandering a for a few minutes.

This place has great dim sum, served on Hello Kitty plates, what is not to love about that? Everything is fresh, big portions and cheap! We usually come for a snack in the afternoon and then head back for breakfast. The only way to start the day! Shu mai, pork buns, chinese donuts..it's all great. Get a box to go...we always do.

My friends and I wanted dim sum before our flight back to NYC on a Sunday morning. We went against our better judgement, and ignored the 2.5 stars House of Dim Sum earned on Yelp because 1. They were the only place open early 2. They were the only place open early with seating. We ordered a whole bunch of plates - thousand year/lean pork congee, shrimp churng fun, beef churng fun, ha gow, shumai, chicken feet, spare ribs, and one other dumpling which I honestly can't even remember what it was. It was a lot of food for four people and the portions are big. However, it's quantity over quality here. Everything pretty much came out cold, despite it being steaming in the display. The churng fun was too thick. I really don't think anything tasted terrible but dim sum should be piping hot. I should be burning my tongue when I stuff that shumai into my face. But no tongues were burnt today. Even the congee was lukewarm which I don't get how that's possible. Definitely skip this place. If you're like us, and this is your only option for dim sum, you're still better off skipping it.

My husband and I came to visit Chinatown to visit for the first time this past weekend. We stopped here for lunch. However, I passed eating at this restaurant as the restaurant was too dirty to me. The food looked great, the prices for food was inexpensive, the staff reasonably nice, but the ambiance and cleanliness of this restaurant was less than desirable. My husband tried three of the sticky pork buns and eating enjoyed them. Lastly, no locks on the bathroom doors and they were okay clean.

We ordered barbecued pork buns and sesame rolls and both were cold. We notice that when Chinese people came to the restaurant they were served from the bottom pan which was steaming hot while the gringo looking people were served from the top pan. We also ordered wonton soup, which was hot but has no taste at all! Skip this restaurant if you are in Chinatown!

Average dim sum ... Nothing to write home about. My thought was timing. When I went by this place earlier in the week the ladies were busy making the dim sum ... A couple of days later we went and ate and it was later in the afternoon...not really that good and a bit on the cold side ... Dos get a side order of egg rolls (cold as ice) ... There is better dim sum around the corner ... Wouldn't waste my time unless you hit them up as they are making. The lady that waited on us wasn't helpful at all and seemed a bit put out that she had to assist us.

We wanted a quick sample of some dim sum in China Town and came across this place. It being late in the afternoon the range was limited, so the lady chose a selection for us, two of everything (one each) and with a milk tea the total came to 14 bucks (cash only), which I thought was reasonable. The thing is, the dim sum was soooo delicious! And even better with the provided chile sauce. Sure the place is a bit run down but it's worth it for the amazing food

Great little local place. We stopped in for a quick snack and ended up coming back for dinner. Great Dim Sum. Flavors just like I had in China.

Having lived in Vancouver, BC where there is very tasty dim sum, the dim sum in Chinatown here is only so-so. The ha gao and siu mai were alright but not the Shanghai dumplings - the skin was way too doughy and thick. Price here is great and this is one of the few places where you can actually sit down. Staff also able to speak some English. Restaurant is self-serve. For the tea, we got a paper cup and tea bag. Upstairs seating area is spacious with tiny washrooms available. The place is like a hole in the wall, but for the price, I can't complain.

Extremely expensive here. $52 for few pieces and 2 drink. Does not taste fresh. Tourist trap. No prices shown. You ask for 1 order, they will give you more to sell you more. If you are local, they charge less, tourist more. Stay away from this place. Food is not good. Read all the bad reviews.

I went right before lunch and avoided the lunch crowd. I think the workers knew I was not sure what to order so they pointed me to a few things to try. Not sure what I ate but it was delicious. I also got a boba. Some of the food was cool because everything is sitting out on the counter, but still yummy

The food here is of good quality. You order at the counter and it is put in a paper plate where you can take it upstairs to a drab dreary eating place (they could do so much more with the ambiance) or downstairs, looking out into a busy street. Lots of locals were eating here -- they know a good deal when they see it. They do serve tea with a teabag though, which isn't very classy. We had a lot of food and probably paid only a third of the price a more upscale looking dim sum locale would have cost. However, I do think ambiance and presentation is important to eating, which is why I am only giving three stars.

We had lunch there - 4 pieces of Dim Sum for 2 of us and it was more than enough, a true bargain at $14 including 2 drinks! Dim Sum is tasty, not the best on earth but still good. Go try it - it's not far from the fortune cookie factory ;)

The food is ok. The wonton soup was the best thing and still warm. The bbq buns not my cup of tea. Too little filling and dry. Dumplings ok.

Not much for ambiance, but great food! As evidence by the number of locals streaming in on a normal day, this is the place to go for great Dim Sum. Since this isn't a buffet, you should have some idea what you like first... but everything we tried was fantastic, and the price was right! Cheapest meal we had during our vacation, and among one of the best.

We walked around Chinatown not knowing we're to get dim sum. Tried a Trip Advisor and saw this place was listed. The person behind the counter served us two of everything. With 2 waters it was $12. Not sure what good dim sum us supposed to taste like. There were lots of locals eating here so it mustn't be too bad.
Average Dim Sum veg. soup even worse
Dim sum was heated in microwave and was mediocre at best. We asked for a veg. soup. The lady insisted we pay first eventhough we were still eating our dim sum. We paid the 7.95$ which seemed quite high for us since we paid 5$ for 4 dim sum so we expected a very rich soup yet the soup was tasteless and had only noodles some scallion and a bit of lettuce. After we protested she brought us some more lettuce and after more protest she gave us 2$ back as compensation
