Just right pie!

By Victor |

So, you've decided to have a pie. A sweet pie I mean. If such a thing happened to you in LA you definitely should go to the House of Pies. Everything, starting from welcoming you and up to the temperature of the drinks and pie is just right. Don't miss!

Pies good but it needs a deep cleaning

By Reed |

I was really excited to try someplace called “the house of pies”. I love pies of all types and I love retro restaurants! Well, I realized when I walked in that there is a fine line between “retro” and “falling apart and dirty” and unfortunately this seemed to fall on the side of the latter. It was in need of a really good deep cleaning for sure. We decided to get our pies to go and while we were helped quickly there were tables so mad at the slow service, they were coming up to the cashier to complain. The pies were good - not worth going out of your way for.

Breakfast and Pie... Be Still My Beating Heart

By TopShelfTequila |

Breakfast served all day and then complete the meal with a slice of strawberry cream pie. What else can you ask for?

A GR8 Late Night Stop

By Paul H |

This, of course, is a California institution! We needed some late-night eats after attending a music show in Santa Monica so we had to try this...glad we did! They have their own off-street parking lot, which is nice. We had the pot roast which was delicious, as well as the mashed potatoes (the vegies, however, could have been cooked a bit better). The key lime pie was a bit different than what I'm used to but I thought it was fine (my partner wasn't as crazy about it). They have an extensive menu so you're bound to find something appealing here, and the prices are reasonable by L.A. standards!

Great Restaurant

By Saba303 |

I went there to chill out with friends and they have crispy chicken tenders and fries for the kids and I was craving a nice quesadilla. It was delicious, we enjoyed a lot. Fast service. The Pies looked delicious, if I only had room for more. The ambiance is chilled out, good for conversations. My friends orders clam chowder with chicken and rice along with salad, and a grill chicken sandwich. They have a variety of light and heavy delights. You can get anything from waffles to pancakes to sandwiches and deserts. Perfect place for lunch, dinner or dessert. Not very crowded.

Awesome dinner in an awesome diner!

By John M |

Because I love pie and having seen this place on Comedians in Cars going for Coffee, where Jerry took Kristen Wiig, I added it to my “to do” list on our recent trip to L.A. We were not disappointed! I asked I our server, Pereya, what her favourite things eat here were and without hesitation, she suggested the Cobb Salad. My wife and I had Cobb Salads, my one daughter (a bit of a Mac n cheese aficionado), went for the Simply Perfect Mac and Cheese, and my other daughter went with the Nice Little Dinner Salad and chicken rice soup. All were delicious. With very little room saved for dessert (portions were very large), we split a piece of strawberry cheese cake, which was equally fresh and delicious. Will be back!

If you love Pie!!!

By MUNCHICHI |

Every pie is a must try! LOL, but I wouldn't unless you have a need for a sugar rush! All the pies and food are great! The service is a little lacking...

Pie time!

By Stephen G |

After having dinner I was in the mood for pie. I was recommended by a friend to try out the strawberry cream pie, have to say it was pretty good! They had so many different pies to choose from, strawberry, blueberry, banana ect... the place is an old fashion diner, I would recommend it if your looking for some pie...

Great Breakfast

By Al H |

All their meals for breakfast are around $10 and under, and their pancake breakfast combos are a great deal. They'll also sub out an item that comes on the combo if you need them to (i.e., not an egg fan, they'll do Hash browns? Want all bacon instead of bacon/sausage, no problem). Fresh OJ. Had the Apple/Streusel pancakes, simply amazing. Great option.

Fun place, good eats.

By pedidoctx |

Had a wonderful Breakfast with Family. Loved the mid century look and vibe. An inviting aroma greets you as you walk in, visually you encounter beautifully displayed pies. The restaurant is spacious and there is Parking. The Menu is fun and varied. Everything that we ordered was very tasty. Did not make it to the dessert though. Generous portions! Would return. Good service as well.

If you like pie, this is the place!

By Parisa63 |

This is a classic diner style establishment where the kids like to go for pie when we are in LA. You get a huge piece (about 1/5 of a pie) with about 30 or so flavors to choose from. They are always delicious. We love House of Pie. Love the sign too!

Make Room for Pie!

By HoneyBrown1976 |

I visited The House of Pies for the first time over the weekend with a friend. Let me say that so many pies make one wish for more than one stomach. For starters, I ate a grilled cheese and fries plate, which was good. I was worried I wouldn't have space for some pie. But, I did later (Granted, I had to take the pie home and eat it as soon as I reached my driveway!) So many selections made my choice difficult. However, I vowed to return. Try the lemon cream. It's delicious. Mind you, I went on a Saturday evening (9 pm and it was busy.) But, it's still worth a visit. Remember, to make room for pie, considering it is The House of Pies and all.

If you're in LA, you have to try it

By Wanderlust |

My personal favorites are their strawberry pie and peach cream pie. OMG! Never fails. I give it as a gift as well whenever I visit friends/family. If you love pies and you're in LA rn, must try it! They also serve other food.

Great Pies

By Willsatx |

I wanted to say that the pies are awesome, I was in LA for the Rose Bowl and someone at my hotel suggested this place and man all I can say is that it is really good. Good service and good pies.

Blast from the Past - Pie Edition

By Suzanne D |

Haven't been here for pie since the 80's. Blast from the past! Had a slice of lemon meringue pie. Nice and tangy. Not too sweet. Ran about $5/slice, so pretty pricey for the drive out here. Overall, a nice selection of freshly made pies.

Banana Cream Pie.....

By CaribbeanFan |

So good! I'm a big fan of the pies here. I got a coconut cream pie for my mom's birthday and everyone was stoked.

Try the peach pie... YUMMY!

By KevinNash |

I come here whenever I'm in the area. Food is good. Pies are yummy especially the peach pie. While you are around, visit the Griffith Observatory, it's very nearby and a MUST !

I swoon over the Los Feliz Benedict!

By Graydonpow |

I agree with the other reviewer about the Los Feliz Benedict! The turkey and avocado are excellent substitutions for Canadian bacon--healthier for you, too. The Hollandaise sauce is made fresh in-house and is very rich and creamy. Two servings are served on the platter but I can often only eat one before I get full. Delicious, crispy hash browns are served on the plate as well; this yummy addition helps to sop up the Hollandaise and egg yolk, making them delightfully tasteful. Another delicious delight at House of Pies is their Monte Cristo sandwich. Again, the portion they serve of this is unbelievable and I often have to take half of it home. As for the pies? I often order a pumpkin and apple for Thanksgiving, but ones that I've enjoyed throughout the rest of the year are their Strawberry Pie (when in season), French Silk (so light, creamy, and delicious) and the most phenomenal pie I think I've ever had in my entire life: Chocolate Banana Cream Pie!! I mean, this pie is unbelievable and completely indescribable, folks!! It's just something you have to experience for yourselves!!

great food at any hour

By goldenwds |

A must restaurant to eat at every time one visits Los Angeles area. I had a patty melt and fries plate, which was good This is the place where you get huge breakfast 24 hrs all day and the pies are always fresh. My absolute favorite pie is Lemon Meringue and they also make a great assortment of the best pies you have ever tasted (light whip and delish )

A House Of More Than Pies.

By Zoom_Gotti |

Yes, for most it's always because of the pies here. But the menu is full and breakfast, lunch, and dinner are also good choices. I also like that a fruit cup can be chosen as your side dish. Maybe try something like a cheesy corn flake and onion pancake for breakfast, a chicken salad sandwich for lunch, and dinner could be a maple glazed pork chop. Whatever you like, this sample will give you an idea. Not pretentious at all. And nice waitstaff. Often gets busy. And free parking on site in Los Feliz.

Oh My So Much More Than Pie!

By Navigator614590 |

We rented a VRBO and found the House of Pies just a block away. We went for breakfast the first morning and everything was so tasty and the coffee was perfect. We purchased a lemon méringue pie on our way out to have later in the day. It was so tall they had a special box for it. After a long day of doing fun things we came home and had pie. The crust was buttery and flaky, done to perfection and the rest of the pie was lemony deliciousness in every bite. We went back several times and no complaints, just like being back in the day when service, quality and the customer leaving happy was the rule of the day.

One of the last American Coffee Shops

By teddyb1968 |

My Uncle Bob took me here for pie and coffee one evening after a movie. Outstanding service and hot coffee. Not many of these old fashioned coffee shops left. Of course, the pie is pure heaven. My fav is the blueberry. Sure, being close to Hollywood Blvd, you will see some crazies, but the cops also love this place, too!

A favorite.

By K6KN |

Back again. Great service, friendly. Has an innovative selection of omelettes plus pancakes, etc. The peach pie was fabulous.

I love Pie and I love House of Pie

By Julie O |

I stop here every visit to the Los Angeles area. My absolute favorite pie is Peanut Butter and they make the best Peanut Butter pie (light whip and delish)

Don't Skip The Pie.....

By luckytownbob |

We visited twice on a recent visit to the area.....parking can be tight depending on time of day. We were warmly greeted both times and sat immediately. Diner type food, very large menu with something to please everybody. We had burgers/sandwiches, all delicious and plenty big. The strawberry cream pie is a CAN"T MISS....to die for! Went back a 2nd time a few days later before a Dodgers game just to have another piece. This place has been there for years, very unassuming from the outside. You can tell the place is loved by the locals. We would absolutely return on our next visit to SoCal...

Blueberry Cheesecake

By Kim C |

Besides wonderful breakfast and dinners, I love their Salmon dish. Their blueberry cheesecake is totally freaking amazing and awesome. Always looking forward to it every time when I go there to eat. Definitely recommend the blueberry cheesecake.

Coffee shop or diner, either way, fresh and tasty

By Plumeria D |

Stopped here after a visit to the Frank Lloyd Wright Hollyhock house for a quick lunch. I really enjoyed the onion rings - clearly home made, not frozen. My burger was hand pressed and very tasty. The sourdough burger was a bit less successful, mostly because the bread fell apart making it a messy venture. We split a coconut cream pie which was delicious, really nice and flaky crust. This isn't high concept food, come as you are, breakfast, lunch or dinner, for your diner fix.

Great Food!

By John L |

We chanced upon House of Pies whilst visiting Hollywood and were pleased we did. The soup and chicken pot pie were both very tasty but the main event was the desert. The apple pie was excellent, one of the best I have had. Service was excellent and the bill was a pleasure to receive.

Time for Pie

By DandLtravel |

Where do you go for pies after watching fireworks on July 4th? House of Pies! Place was hoppin' busy, but we were immediately seated. Only given one menu even though there were two of us - - that should have been the first clue. Seemed to be sufficient staff, but service was incredibly slow and sub par. Our waitperson's outfit was sloppy and stained, poor person seemed overworked and exhausted. Order was simple enough: 3 different pieces of pie, one milk, one coffee. Two pieces of pie and both drinks were delivered fairly quickly. 20 minutes later, had to flag down our server to ask for the third piece of pie and a refill on coffee - both of which took another 5 minutes to be brought over to us. Something was off about the milk, first cup of coffee had a scorched taste to it and the two of the three pies were just okay (Bavarian Chocolate Banana and Butterscotch Cream). Third pie (Sour Cream Cheesecake) was good. Perhaps their fruit pies are better, just not sure we're willing to give the service another chance. Restaurant itself was fairly clean as were restrooms. They do cram a lot of tables in the side section - hardly any room to move around back there. Not impressed.

Really Good Pies!

By Rina H |

We ate here after going to Griffith Observatory. It was around 9:30PM. Service was kinda slow. Food was average. But the PIES were REALLY GOOD! We had a slice at the restaurant and ended up taking home a whole pie!!! I agree with what the other reviews say... go only for the pies... great place to have dessert after dinner.

Great Meal for a Good Price

By Tums53 |

Food was good and the service staff were friendly and attentive

Great Old School Food

By Skyros7 |

The restaurant we were going to was closed and the House of Pies was right across the street. It’s an old school restaurant with everything from Soup to, well, Pies. It’s one of the few remaining in Los Angeles and if you’re in that area a great place for lunch. The servers are terrific and the food is excellent. Not really loud like so many restaurants these days. Right near Hollywood and Vermont. We had burgers, patty melt and a philly cheese. terrific.

Go For the Pies, Food is OK

By Emiliana |

Came here with my family and it looks a lot like a Dennys. We had dinner here and the dinner was just alright, I expected more from this place because a lot of friends recommended it. The pie was the delicious! We have had the Strawberry and Pecan Pie. We still go, but we only go for the pies, which are great for the price.

You Go for the Pies... and Not All of Them, Either

By HollywoodRichard |

We recently celebrated my teenager daughter's birthday at H.O.P. along with several of her teenage friends. Due, primarily, to the age of the crowd, an array of fried appetizers was ordered. And they were fine... not special, not terrible, hence the "average" rating above. But honestly, if you're going to House of Pies for a proper dinner, you're really not thinking too clearly. It's right in the name! The disappointing element, however, comes with the fact that not all the pies are exemplary. The mgt. insists that ALL are made fresh, on premises, and while instinct disputes that, I'll take them at their word. Still --- stick with the cream pies. Avoid meringue and fruit, in my opinion.

Pie -- great; breakfast -- even better

By Tamara W |

Had a yummy breakfast at House of Pies -- scrambled eggs and toast. It was great! And the coffee kept coming. Took home a piece of chocolate pie for later. All good!!

Oh My, So Much More Than Pie!

By DCLady2 |

We rented a VRBO on N. Vermont Avenue and found the House of Pies that evening since it was just a block away. We decided to go there for breakfast the next morning and that was a great plan. We discovered that they served just about everything you could want and all of our dishes were so tasty and even the coffee was perfect. We got a lemon méringue pie on our way for later . It was so high that there was a special box for it. We had pie later and I have to say that the crust was buttery and flaky, done to perfection and the rest of the pie was lemony deliciousness in every bite. We made a point of going back several times and had no complaints everything was delicious I have to add that it was just like being back "in the day" when service, quality and the customer leaving happy was the norm and not the exception. Additional pies were had and we left some for our landlady to enjoy after we departed.

Aww i love house of pies.

Aww i love house of pies.

It is a chain, but the pies are great

By AggieJoe79 |

No frills eatery with a rotating menu of pies, plus various coffee and adult beverages. Indoor and limited outdoor seating. Good choice for dessert after a meal in Little Tokyo.

Wow! House of Pies!

By PattieF |

Since my husband loves pie, we decided to stop for lunch. The inside is diner style with booths and tables. Nothing special in the way of decorations but old fashioned diner. They have a large menu from breakfasts, sandwiches, meatloaf, to fried chicken. Most of it was pretty good, but kind of average. The pies were amazing. They were piled so high with berries -and cream. Mouth watering ! A huge assortment and very delicious! Will definitely be back!

We had our first American pies!

By NourHos |

We went there to try the typical American pies as it was our first time in the USA and we are not disappointed! It was really good, especially the strawberry and the pumpkin pies. The service was great too, both waiters have been lovely. Great experience!

Iconic Stop

By laurabel13 |

Parked around the block due to small and tight parking lot. Was worth the walk. Had the croissant french toast and chicken apple sausage. It was excellent and unique. Of course had to have a slice of pie. Since it was October, I went for the pumpkin pie. That was a good decision. Our waiter was very friendly and didn't rush us. We happened to be there to witness a marriage proposal, which was sweet. Can't say much about price due to being in LA but will definitely visit again.

Came for breakfast, left with pie!

By Josh79b |

My sister lives nearby and suggested we go here for the pie. At 8am I’m not in the mood for pie so we got breakfast. Pancakes were actually very good and fluffy and very tasty. Some of the best I have had in a long time. Plenty of other choices to choose from and tons of pies. We chose strawberry pie which was actually very good I must say. Old restaurant but good fast inexpensive food for the area. Small parking lot as well. Worth a stop if you’re in the area for pie and some food.

The Hollywood Hotel referred me this terrible restaurant.

By Tommy Franco |

I was referred from the Hollywood Hotel located 25 mins away. Initially I didn’t mind walking all that because the expectation was a very fulfilling and taste breakfast. The service was super slow, I had to ask for a server 3 times, 20 mins later I placed my order and soon enough I found out that the food was really terrible. I ordered the BBQ beef brisket and it was pretty disgusting. Way too much sauce and a lot of salt. There was more BBQ than meet itself. I also ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and it was the same thing, lots of mayonnaise at the point that my hands got all dirty. Again! At that point I was so disappointed that I decided to take a shot on the bakery items and they all tasted a week old, super hard as a rock. The bakery items you buy at the gas station has a better quality. Believe me! I wanted to give 0 but the minimum is 1 star, so there you go. The Hollywood Hotel should be ashamed of referring that down the hill restaurant for its guests.

Basic Great Diner Type Food - Great Service

By IrishRed51 |

This is a great place for a meal or mid-day snack. The food is great, the service is great, the portions are not skimpy. We always feel welcome, and that our business is appreciated.

I'm only here for the pie....

By Pamz-on-the-road |

And it was REALLY good pie. We had the strawberry custard that had huge favorful berries, mounds of whipped cream and pretty good custard. This is in such a fun spot, Los Feliz, that it really could be a great destination spot. I like it.

All-American breakfast

By ecbmilo |

This diner doesn't look much from the outside but the food was fantastic and the service was fast. The small car park was full so we parked nearby in a residential street and walked. I recommend the waffles!

Best pies!

By shabooties |

When we visit Los Angeles we have to stop here for breakfast or lunch and always buy some pies. Took back home on the plane too. So fresh they have the oven right there and you can see the varieties are just mouth watering. Never had a bad piece. Lunch and breakfast also done well and fast service. "Fez" is a fan in that 70's show and makes a reference to "The House of Pies" with a dreamy look on his face. You'll understand when you try them!

Great all Around

By Keila T |

Great food and service. Prices were reasonable considering the portion size. Outdoor dining was plentiful considering Covid restrictions. A place I'd want to visit again to try other menu items and pies!

Love this place

By April D |

Maybe because I used to live next to it but I still travel there to get my turkey avocado sandwich and a piece of chocolate Bavarian cream pie. Love this place!............................................

Pies, glorious pies

By 484karlc |

If you like pies, this is the place to go. They have a wide assortment of freshly prepared pies which are absolutely delicious. This establishment has been around for over 45 years in the same location.

The name says it all

By Karen D |

Diner food, with a super selection of pies. My chili dog was ok, but my lemon meringue pie was stellar.

Awesome pies

By DominLA69 |

Nice little diner with awesome pies and cheesecakes!!!! Its a good little place for friends or family with late nite!

Amazing Cheesecake!

By Cbjhome |

Based on these reviews, we went out of our way to eat here and I am sooooo glad we did! Instead of starting with lunch we started with the Choc Chip Cheesecake to make sure we had enough room for it. So glad we did because we were stuffed after the big pieces they give for only $4.95 each. What a bargain as I am use to paying between $7-$10 a slice at the Cheesecake Factory. I think the House of Pies cheesecake its much better than TCF too! The only problem was we were to full for lunch so we skipped it. The breakfast and lunch meals being served around us smelled so good too! If we had more time in LA we would have come back here for lunch too. They have a large menu, something for everyone! I highly recommend trying this place, especially as you are leaving Griffith Observatory like we did. I hope you found the details in this review helpful.

Lives up to it's name!

By Ezra H |

The House of Pies has amazing pie, I can't stress that enough. The restaurant is great, but those glorious pies are well worth it. Get a fresh strawberry creme or the custard pie!

Great pies cool vibe

By kittykatpurr |

Went here for the first time, we had heard how good it was and it was really good. Sunday morning was busy but worth the wait. It's a smaller coffee shop but very relaxed and comfortable, the food was priced well and a lot of it is from scratch, I had corn beef hash and it was great. The pies are very good. The bathrooms are even groovy. Can't wait to return.

Late stop for dinner

By angeandpaul1 |

We were staying at the nearby Travelodge on a whistle stop tour of LA. Just happen to stumble across this place. Absolute gem of a place. We ordered steak and mash and veg.( we're from Ireland lol) Unknown to us this came with a starter so we ordered a soup and a salad. Steak came cooked to perfection and by the time we had finished it we had no room left to try the lovely pies on offer for dessert. Staff were friendly and after travelling from Vegas the price was for nothing lol. Recommended by us and if we are ever back we will call in. Open from early 6.30 to very late.....like early hours 2 am or so.

Excellent roasted turkey dinner!

By Billy B |

I am glad to find this place that makes excellent roasted turkey dinner at reasonable price. Turkey was delish and actual sliced turkey. Not like the deli-thin kind at other places. Mashed potatoes was made fresh with some skins in it. Cranberries had some crushed berries and I enjoy that more than just plain jellied kind. The veggies were fresh. And steamed. Be sure to ask for butter for it. I look forward to return to try something else!

Breakfast with friends

By Lynne A |

Lovely breakfast at House of Pies. Had hamburger patty with eggs and huevos rancheros. Great service from Jason.

Yes, the pies are good!!

By Michael M |

I love pie. Even for breakfast. This place had me at the name: “House of pies.” In the post Covid world, a whole lie for less than $20 is a bargain. And the cherry pie is REALLY good. Give ‘em a try!

Great Old School Diner

By Bishop Martin d |

House of Pies is a classic diner. The food it comfort food. The servers are attentive and friendly. They bake their pies, cheese cakes and cookies fresh daily on site. The prices are reasonable. It is a popular place for locals.

Thank you Jerry Seinfeld!

By NikeofNargothrond |

Got the hunch to stop by after seeing on an episode of Comedians in Cars Drinking Coffee. The pie is amazing. We tried several kinds. The Monte Cristo was very similar to Bennigans and was awesome. Lol. Coffee was ok.

From a pie lover, these pies are fine

By Alex J |

These are diner pies at their most quintessential. The selection is impressive. For my diner-pie-money though, DuPar's offer a higher quality, and Pie and Burger the best. For interesting pies, Pie Hole and Simple Things are good bets. But in Los Feliz, late night or early morning, I will often give in and get some pie. Because pie is always great.

Good breakfast But danger place

By CinziaV. 86 |

The breakfast was Good But not People. Waiter not Kind and never smiled. And when i was there two people became to discuss each other and one of Them stood up and want began to fight. No one of The staff of The bar, arrive to stop Them. I feeling Very Very in danger. I Will remember this bad scene forever. Is The first time that i see a scene like that. Don t come here.

Fabulous all round...

By LDN_2009 |

I found House of Pies through one tiny mention in the biography of a Hollywood producer (Don Simpson, for those who are interested) who used to spend a lot of his time there devouring whole pies in a single sitting. I’m glad I read that book! The pies are wonderful and the architecture, décor and ambiance are absolute mid-century perfection. Can’t want to come back. Lots more pies to try!

Amazing pie and burgers.

Way more than great pies--and all were great! We ate there twice in one week, and loved everything we had. Great value, will definitely go again when back in town.

The Quintessential Los Angeles Diner

By moviegal226 |

This place is so "L.A." that you'll feel like you are stepping into an actual movie set when you open the door. It's the quintessential Los Angeles diner: nothing fancy but with so much atmosphere. Geez, even the building itself is photogenic. The food is typical diner fare and they do some things better than others (salads are just so/so but the breakfast plates and pies are top notch). Don't skip dessert or you'll regret it. Pro foodie tip: ALWAYS order any menu item that's in the name of the restaurant. You can't go wrong! The old school waitresses add to the authentic atmosphere. Expect to be called "honey" by your 55 year old career server. On weekends this place gets filled with hipster angst. There's a small parking lot if you're lucky enough to score a spot.

oh my, what a pie! or 3 or 4 or 5!

By Nancy B |

Many people go here to buy their pies for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but any time you want a pie like Grandma used to make, come here. The selection is large, and the pies are, well, almost so good you will want to eat a while pie yourself!

Hidden Gem :)

By beth g |

If you drive by House of Pies it doesn't look like anything special. Inside is outdated but clean. We were staying down the street at the Hollywood Hotel and it was on a list of places to eat nearby so we thought why not. Service was good even though few waitstaff, breakfast was served all day and it was very generous portions and tasty! My hubbie ordered a beef with aus jus sandwich and it was really good as well. Pie was amazing! I would recommend this place to anyone and would return.

Absolutely GREAT Coconut Cream Pie!!!

By Cynluvs2travel |

I have been here in CA for 3 days now and there isn't many restaurants near our hotel. We have eaten here three times. Excellent service and down home cooking. Everything is very tasty and I went to pick up two pies tonight. I am glad I don't live close by because I know I would put on a lot of pounds eating here. Pot roast was great and they serve real tasty mashed potatoes with the red skins on them. You won't regret eating here or stopping by for a late night piece of pie. YUMMY to my tummy. Enjoy!!!

Good reliable option

By pedz55 |

Good diner food in a nice neighborhood. Coming from New York it was a familiar sight. Good for families.

Pies!

By Alaindl |

This place is good to get your pies. They are even open during holidays but just be early since there will surely be a line outside. Don't worry about the line since they are well staff and the waiting time is less than 20 minutes.

Quaint family style, good for friends and family.

By chillin247365 |

I really enjoyed the genuine service here. Its my kind of diner. Family and friends, I'd even take a date here. Parking can be tough. Tasty food excellent pies. Good breakfast meals. Love the strawberry pie and banana cream pie.

Los Feliz Benedict

By Ninachka1 |

I was giving a coworker a ride home this morning and she lives a few blocks from The House of Pies. She suggested breakfast and I agreed. Am I glad I did. We have eaten there before and it was good. This time I wanted Eggs Benedict. While perusing the menu, I saw the Los Feliz Benedict, which comes with the regular Benedict stuff, except instead of ham there is turkey breast and avocados with perfectly pouched eggs. When I started eating I was pleasantly surprised when it was realized that the turkey was actual house baked turkey breast, not the sliced deli kind. It was so good. Whole lotta food too. I walked out full and happy, because there was not only a lot of food, but it was also delicious. Looking forward to the next time we stop there.

Should be House of Bad Pies

By Christa W |

This was terrible! Ordered through Door Dash. Had Key Lime Pie that tasted like it was made a week before. I had a bite and my husband had a bite. In the trash it went. Never rec'd the blueberry pie we ordered. The Strawberry pie was ok but was not remarkable. My son doesn't eat sweets so he had the fruit with yogurt and granola. This was ok but definitely not the freshest fruit. I would not recommend this to anyone.

The club sandwich is good

By Frank S |

Its a diner I have never had dinner but breakfast and lunch is good I like the tuna avocado bacon sandwich and the coleslaw

Nothing special here

By Frank S |

I have been eating here off and on for 16 years, today I had the fried chicken which was good in the past however today it was almost burned, dried out inside and so salty I could only eat a small amount, it was about 3pm so the place was near empty but my waiter was horrible had to track him m down to get the bill - None of us will be back

Great breakfast at this well run dinner

By Mr_Firestone |

I stopped in here by chance with a couple of colleagues for breakfast before heading to our client's location for a meeting. We were lucky enough to find a parking spot in their parking lot which can only hold about 15% of their seating capacity. The dinner atmosphere, comfortable seating, and attentive service made us feel right at home. The menu is extensive and breakfast is served 24hrs a day. I can't comment on the pies other than they looked fantastic in the display cooler. We were just to full after our breakfast to have any! Breakfast was great and the selections included some different offerings which matched their in-house cooking style. ie. Cinnamon Roll French Toast where they make the French toast out of one of their cinnamon rolls sliced thin. Net-net: I'd be back here even if I had to park on the street a couple of blocks away.

The place for pies. Particularly for holidays. Great breakfast, not so hot on everything else for me.

This place has an amazing selection of pies and they are all very delicious. I've probably tried out all their pies over the years and it never disappoints. Other food is average; nothing special but not bad either. The staff is very friendly and the prices are considerable cheap and affordable. The place is more like a diner than a restaurant but a very pleasant one. If you're in the neighborhood and have a sweet tooth, make sure to try one of their pies out.

Great Pies

Great place to eat and have Pie! Friendly service. Parking is a little tough however worth waiting or walking for.

Good Diner Food

By thebettyramos1 |

The place was busy but the service was quick and friendly. The food was good and the pie great. Wouldn't recommend the pot pie, as it was very rich and too salty but we enjoyed everything else. Good place for a quick bite.

Great pies!

I visited this restaurant twice while in Los Angeles, and both times were great experiences. The 1st time I had a late dinner, and the 2nd time, I actually went for the pie. The pies were actually delicious, and the customer service is excellent. This was definitely with the effort, and I will definitely be back when in LA.

Really good pies. Really!

my favorite little LA plac!

By AniKa F |

I stumbled upon this little place on a visit to LA 3 years ago. Now that I live here, I go often. The food is so good, the staff is always friendly, and the pies are divine! Try the pecan ala mode! It's diner food but it's deliche!

Look, it's a diner, not...

By John P |

Look, it's a diner, not a restaurant. Don't order the veal. But if you're looking for an above-average breakfast, or a good club sandwich with steak fries, check it out. Just be careful to over-pronounce "hot apple pie," because they also have pineapple pie, and can get the two confused, and you don't want the pineapple pie. The hot apple pie, on the other hand...yum.

Good food, great service

By Ryan M |

We really enjoyed our trip here for breakfast, the service was really friendly and the food was great too.

Very Nice Resturant

By William B |

The dining room was clean and not cluttered with table. The aroma of delicious pies filling the air. We went 4 times in three days with consistently great service and food. My favorite was their early bird specials until 11am for $4.95, a bargain by any standards. I had the french toast, egg and bacon special twice and it was perfect both times. Their servings are almost too generous in size. I would be confidant in telling anyone to go there anytime and you will get great food and service for a fabulous price. As a bonus the bathrooms were spotless.

"Great Pies to choose"

By mgonez |

I ran into this Pie restaurant after my date at the Griffith Observatory... it was open late and we were craving something sweet. They had the largest selection of pies I have ever seen: peach - I got this one, apple to sugarless pies, they have it all!

Great Diner

By lindsayzdz |

I really like this place. It is always open after the bars close and the food is good. It's diner food, so expect that. The prices are nice and the pie is exceptional. My only gripe with House of Pies is that they've kind of "updated" the decor inside and its slowly losing it's nostalgic feel. PRO TIP: If you want to order a pie for Thanksgiving, just get it the day before. The line on Thanksgiving is insane. I've waited in it once and I have no clue how they even fit all of those pies inside the building.

GROSS!

Open late diner

I have eaten twice here. The pancakes are fabulous. Breakfast items are really good. Never had the pies oddly enough.

Nothing Amazing, Good Service

By Kane |

Went here to catch up with someone later at night. A typical American diner, which as we are from overseas was an experience. Food of good quality and pricing. If in the area and hungry, it should be considered.

Greasy, pretty good, not cheap, good luck with parking

By rue_papillon |

It's a diner. It's in the neighborhood so we go there semi-regularly. It offers many kinds of pretty good greasy food. Inside there are both booths and tables, a counter, and a TV usually set to sports, and there's also a patio area. But the service is hit-or-miss, the prices are high, and I haven't been all that impressed with any of the pies.

Late night meal

By Alberto T |

Visited House of Pies late at night after event in L.A. to grab a bite. I ordered the yankee pot roast with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies, starting with a clam chowder. I had a cherry pie for desert. Everything I had was good, but not outstanding, which is to expected with this kind of restaurant with such a menu -- clearly things have to be pre-made. I would go back if it were late and night and I were in the area.

Old school since 1969

By Creeping_Death_LA |

We ordered and shared an Impossible cheeseburger, onion rings, and a banana cream pie. We sat at the counter and watched a football game while we waited for our food. The burger was average and I can make it better at home. The onion rings were amazing and the best we've ever tasted. The pie was very flavorful but the banana pieces were hard.

GREAT FOOD and FOLKS

Another place we have haunted many times over the years and we love it! If you love huge breakfast this is your spot and the pie is always fresh...

Nothing close to a Homemade Pie - but was OK

By 4CaliGals |

A group of us stopped by to have dinner. Typical diner-type food. Good burgers and fries. Was really looking forward to the pie for dessert. We tried several different flavors and they were ok - was expecting so much more & not really worth the calories. If I'm going to eat desert, I want it to be worth every calorie! Didn't get that here - but friendly service.

Terrific American standards

By beachgoer2021 |

You can get all the basics here -- burgers, pancakes, eggs, sandwiches -- and they are all delicious. Breakfast is served all day and night. Burgers are especially tasty and the egg salad sandwich is surprisingly good. We are always too full to eat dessert but we almost always take home a full pie. Ask your server which flavor is best that night and order that one. Can get busy but servers are fast and pleasant. Not fancy, very retro and reliable.

My favorite breakfast joint.

By JulianEdwards_12 |

I like the idea of Los Angeles brunch, but I also like the idea of this place. It's possibly defiant in its existence. The food is really good. I have had no bad meals here. I cannot say the same for hipper fancier spots in Los Feliz.

The only one left in the L.A. area.

By judy t |

Great pies. Worth the trip. Growing up with several locations it sad to see only one still standing. Best pies ever. Boysenberry hot with a scoop of ice cream.

The Los Feliz version of...

By Blinker W |

The Los Feliz version of Denny's. Don't get me wrong, every neighborhood needs a Denny's, and this one is pretty OK.

Only for a quick bite and if you must

By Escapefromthedesert |

The location is great as it is located in a hip neighborhood in LA. I was disappointed as caliber of food has declined from years past. In addition, the service was very poor as we had to chase down the waitress to get help. Rather than being one of La's unique dinners, it has become a copycat of Denys. Also, the prices for the dinner/comfort food are out of sync. I had the Chicken pot pie which wasn't any better than a Banquet pot pie from the freezer section. The Spinach artichoke dip was tasty. i was disappointed in the pumpkin cheesecake as it was dry.

Worth the Drive

We were leaving Griffith Park Observatory and stumbled on House of Pies! An LA institution for over 40 years. Friendly staff with great service. A large menu from which to choose. The selection of pies is great too! Love the retro feel!

Disappointed!

By Susan Leigh H |

We had heard this place was supposed to be awesome so we decided to try it. The overall appearance of the place was a bit shabby and unclean. We sat in a booth and the springs in the seat were so worn that I felt like a little kid barely reaching the table. The window pane next to the booth was dirty with crumbs. We ordered the cornbread as an appetizer and none of the four of us could eat more than a couple of bites. It was sour tasting and tasted as if it had been in a freezer too long. The rest of the food was ok. You get a lot of food! We all ordered pie for desert and those were okay but not any better than other places. The service was fair. We asked for refills on our water twice and never got them. It was also very slow and the place was only 1/3 full on a Saturday evening. We will not be going back.

Cheap factory pies are terrible

By James H |

Please do not visit this place if you are coming for the pie. They are sweet and sugary factory confections simply heated on site and which are slightly worse than frozen pie from the grocery. The fruit pies are particularly bad, mostly gelatin. The coffee is also terrible even in comparison to Denny's. The diner-style food is indistinguishable from places like Denny's without exception. If this description leaves you thinking "that doesn't sound too bad" then it may actually be fine for you. Foodies, lovers of pie, and discerning coffee drinkers should avoid.

They really make you feel at home

By David_DeMulle |

It was a really cold and wet day when we got there. It was like everyone working there went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Wet coats and hats were safely placed on an out of the way table and hot coffee arrived almost immediately. And let's not forget the pies. I almost had a sugar overload just reading the menu. Parking was great.

Not what I remembered as a kid.

By NoCalifTraveler |

We went in for a couple of takeout pies. They were not as good as I remembered tham as a kid. Crust was bad. Not the homemade look and taste anymore.

Only go for the pies

By Tony V |

I only eat the pies there, everything else is just plain diner food. The food had changed and not worth the price, coffee is bland

Old School Hidden Gem: No hype - just great pies

By AMACsMom |

My brother took us to the House of Pies because he swore it served the best pie in town. He was not lying. There were 3 different pie slices on the table that were shared among all of us. I recommend going this route so you can enjoy the wide variety. Chocolate cream pie, strawberry cream pie, and apple pie a la mode did not disappoint. We went late at night and it was an excellent way to follow up our visit to Griffith's Observatory.

No frills dining, homemade pie

By melobeam |

The skinny: Parking- small lot Decor- think Denny's Service- excellent Pie- yummy We came here with family friend for dessert last night and were not disappointed! We all ordered pie and when we found out that they had mince meat pie homemade, our friends snapped up the last one. I had the Dutch apple (ask for it warmed up) and it was delicious. Also ordered at the table: Southern Pecan Cherry Coconut cream And chocolate cream which I tasted and it was soooo good! Everyone was happy and full with their choices and our waitress was outstanding. Their pancake breakfast menu looked crazy good so we are coming back to check that out. AND they have broasted chicken we will have to try....

Very delicious

By hurlhead |

Pleasantly pleased with this small diner with excellent food! The combo breakfast meal was excellent. Fresh strawberries on my pancakes with heavy whipping cream. I would visit again!

Great hash browns

By markrabjohns |

Wonderful shabby chic style diner. Great for breakfasts of all types. There is on site parking and the waitresses will push tables together to accommodate large groups. No reservations required. It's is friendly and coffee is refillable at no extra charge. They have latte and other coffee options on the menu, but they are no longer available since they don't have a machine anymore.

Yummy Pies! Dinner Appeal!

By Karyn B |

This place takes you back to 1960’s Hollywood. Service needs some attention as the place was packed, and servers seemed overwhelmed. Food was good. Pie is the reason for the four circles. Amazing pie! I had the butterscotch.
