Can’t believe they are carrying the Houston’s Brand Name

By Rishal S |

I had an awful experience at Houston’s for the first time in 25 years and I Won’t Return, The Houston’s I know would not have made me feel unwelcome as an AA female upon entry into the restaurant. There was no sense of being welcome or belonging......I have been a loyal patron of Houston’s since 1996 when we went after all of our Bulls games in Chicago...they desperately need custo,er service training and diversity sensitivity training! I won’t be going back!

Sunday Fun Day

By diamond_egyptian |

This is my favorite restaurant and specifically this location! The ambience is upscale and clean especially the sushi stand. The food is definitely cooked to perfection, particularly the Hawaiian Ribeye. I'm not a big beef eater or a big steak eater but when I do it's definitely coming from here. This is a special occasion place not a regular drop in restaurant because of price, menu items and ambience.

Transcends out of the ordinary life to a better one.

By Regena |

This is Mt favorite place for upscale dining! The service, 5 star...the food, amazing, fresh, not over salted, perfect everytime! The silverwear...has weight, polished and every detail has been thought of! The staffs dress code is sharp and pressed, manners are evident and the ambiance is calming and inviting to stay awhile! Every year we come to Atlanta just so I can eat at Houstons! Please bring it back to Nashville! PLEASE!

Tight team

By WTCA |

Hadn't been back to Houston's in forever and decided to enjoy a nice lunch out. After perusing the menu, we remembered why it had been so long. $18 for a cobb salad????? Crazy!!! I believe the hamburger was $16. However, other than the price, the experience and the food were quite good. The wait staff seem to work as a congenial smooth team and there was no problem stopping anyone on staff for extra items. Also, the team was always watching out for us as they passed by and our plates were picked up when empty and water and ice teas refilled without asking.

Food and Music

By VMVMadison |

I love Houston's, first and foremost, for the excellence in Customer Service. I requested seating at our favorite booth. It was not available, but the Hostess was quick to offer to check its availability. We decided not to wait the one hour, and were seated at another booth that worked well. Recommend the Cheeseburger, California Burger and Ice Cream Sundae. Our Server was Kortne R, and she was wonderful. Friendly, helpful and attentive. There is a group playing music in the evening. They are very good, and makes dining at Houston's perfect. Highly recommend Houston's on Peachtree.

Great food and service quality

By Romex-Romex |

This is a place to go eat an affordable steak and drink a good wine with your friends or family without breaking the bank. Now, it is a steakhouse, so expect the price to be in the $$ to $$$ range. But it is a very good value for the quality. My favorites are the burger, Hawaiian stake and the pork chop, the short ribs (get the full rack and take home half), hand cut fries, baked potato, broccoli and grilled asparagus. The service receives 200 out of 100, actually. The quality of food and service is very consistent.

59th Wedding Anniversary

By Selenarichter |

Houston's is my mother's favorite restaurant. So Dad took her there for their 59th wedding anniversary. The management and staff made their special day even more special by their generosity and kindness. If you have a special day be sure to go to Houston's to celebrate it! Thanks guys for taking care of my parents!

Experienced rudeness unprovoked. I am an Atlanta native, I do not feel like I would visit again. Hope this sheds light.

Friend's Birthday Fun

By rhdtravels |

Pure DELICIOUSNESS!!! Worth the drive in from the suburbs a few times a year and the expense. You really do get what you pay for in both quality and atmosphere. The friend chicken salad is a classic. The crab cakes are to die for - lump meat, just superb. The red cabbage and goat cheese was something new we tried this time and it did not disappoint. All of the desserts are sublime.

Ribs to die for !

By ronloving |

I must say that Houston's has some of the best baby back rib's I've eaten .If I don't get the rib's , I will order their fish specials .

Perfect as always

By Ulrich S |

As always Houston’s as any Hillstone restaurant is excellent in any way. The ribs set the benchmark for all ribs I order all over the states. Don’t miss out on their spicy mayonnaise with the fries.

One of my favorite places!

By Daron F |

Half point off for their semi-ridiculous gender specific dining room dress code policy, and another half off for not having a to-go option. (You have to sit at the bar and order as opposed to placing an order specifically to go.) I LOVE and have LOVED Houstons for YEARS! They have the world's BEST spinach artichoke dip, delicious steaks, and when one is feeling basic, their hand-breaded chicken tenders are unmatched.(Order them cooked dark as they bring them out salmonella tan.) I'd recommend this place time and time again!

I guess Mothers don’t matter

By MBH |

My wife just gave birth and I went to Houston’s to order food for to go. They don’t do to go orders, dine in only. Why do Atlanta restaurants only do this nonsense…Houston’s is literally 1 block away from Piedmont hospital but you don’t do to go orders knowing patients are down the street? Insane. The valet was suprised stating I could go to the bar to order to go…I did not have the energy to go back in there. Doubt I will ever go to this location again.

Excellent Service and Food even after wait

By Happy Flyer |

Had dinner tonight with friends. 1+ hour wait but was worth it. I had the ribs and creamed corn. Both were excellent. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine as well. There was a wonderful live trio of jazz music which gave the perfect ambiance but not overbearing. Valets were courteous, speedy and efficient.

Outstanding Food - Outstanding Service

By Robert |

I took my son who had just been released from Shepherds in patient for his first non-hospital dinner. Houston's is right down the street, and since my son loves filet, we chose Houston's. Absolutely the best steak dinner we have had in years. And the service was second to none. Kudos to the staff and chef - we will be stopping by when we come back to visit Atlanta.

Excellent Lunch

By James C |

My wife and I had lunch today and ordered and shared the Pork Ribs. The Ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and very tasty. Service was very good.

Before OTRII concert

By jasminea717 |

First we started off with coconut sushi roll, it’s was so fresh and it melts in your mouth. I paired it with a Lemon Drop Martini, it was so delicious I had 2, one with the sushi & the second one with dinner. For dinner, I had the pork ribs with a loaded baked potato. The ribs felled off the bone, their was no need to pick up the ribs when all you had to do was use your fork.

Was a family fav….not anymore

By Kim O |

Houston’s on Peachtree has been sliding since the pandemic. Today was my last visit. Portions have been getting smaller and service not up to the old standard. My chicken sandwich had a wafer of fried chicken. What happened to this consistent Atlanta fav?

❤❤❤

By Mahoganee1 |

This is one of the few locations that still have crabcakes. I HIGHLY recommend them. Martini's were perfectly made. Spinach and artichoke dip was delicious..Cheese bread❤❤ !!

Overpriced, overhyped and you should keep looking.

By Terri j |

This has been our favorite restaurant for decades. We've seen quite a few changes during the time we frequented this restaurant. Pros-Very clean, excellent waitstaff, food arrives quickly, they offer reservations, atmosphere is great for couples, without children. Cons-Price is ridiculously expensive, restaurant is freezing cold, ice tea is served cold without sugar, quality of food has gone down and the prices have gone up. We spent $130.00 for an overpriced hamburger meal with one dessert. Ridiculous!!!

Houston,s

By Milan S |

Food and service terrible ! First what we order told that don't have. When we order other food than bring to table one under-coked (pork chops) and steaks burned (totally) . Beside, it bring about half items what we are need to have. Service very slow , long waiting and ask same things many time until will bring , when we don,t need anymore. Long time ego it was best restaurant and now worst. What is happen? Do not recommended, period!

Loved the burgers

By wavace |

It was a great dining experience. Veggie burger and cheese burger were dead on, cooked perfectly and the fries were amazing. Next time I'm hitting those amazing looking steaks I saw so many of. Very clean and great service. Cya again in a week or two

Nice place, Nice ambience

By marcysol |

The place is really nice, you must wear casual clothing, the food is really good and what makes the difference is the live music, you can talk while you are enjoying it. Serving sizes are big.

A loyal customer

By Uneaka D |

I visit this restaurant every trip I make to Atlanta. I have been visiting for many, many years. I used to visit when reservations were not part of their policy. I would strongly advise making reservations now that you can. The ambiance is great. The menu has changed many times. Enjoyed the spinach dip and chips. The presentation of the food is amazing. The food is not highly seasoned , but you can add condiments to enhance. The customer service is still A+. A great experience to have.

Recent visit so disappointing we won’t return

By enewman21 |

Our last visit was so disappointing. My husband and I were on date night at the Houston’s on Peachtree, which we visit regularly. It was a long wait, but longer then the norm as they forgot about us. The server was less than excited to be there and when I asked questions about the menu she said no alterations were allowed. (Must be a new rule) My husband ordered the ribs w/ a baked potato and side of tomatoes. There was no mention of a baked potato being considered 2 side items or that there would be an additonal charge for tomatoes. The server was no where to be found once we received our food. (definitely not Houston’s norm) We finally had to ask another server for a beverage. When it came time for our bill, we waited and waited. The Assistant Manager came and presented the bill. We noticed an $8 charge for a side. When I asked the Mgr he said the baked potato counted as 2 sides. We asked why this wasnt relayed to us and he stated ‘’our clientele we have here gets offended when costs are mentioned and our clientele can afford it.’’ as if he was insinuating WE could not afford it? I told him that was false info as on every intro the sever mentions the cost of the crab cakes. He mentioned bc this was the most expensive meal on the menu. But wouldn’t your clientele be offended by stating this price? We literally had to go back and forth with him before he took the $8 charge off the bill. We will NEVER go back to Houston’s, which is so unfortunate as we used to love this place.

Always a Good Choice

By KarenandDale |

You can’t go wrong with Houston’s. The atmosphere is great. It has a nice large bar, outside seating, big comfortable booths. The menu has a nice variety and food is wonderful. Service is excellent. So go and enjoy. It won’t disappoint!

The best of the best

By Becky V |

Thoroughly enjoyed eating lunch celebrating my husband's birthday this week. So delicious - he had the Hawaiian ribeye which he has enjoyed at Houston's for 40 years. Still his favorite. I had the fried chicken sandwich which was also delicious. We also had the artichoke appetizer, which was so good. We don't go to Houston's often but when we do go, we always enjoy it.

The Food is Outstanding!

By romadaro |

I'm a big fan of Houston's and don't understand why so many of the restaurants are closing, particularly in Atlanta, so I was glad to find one that was still opened. As usual, the food was great-the Veggie Burger and the Chicken Tenders are my favorites. Although I didn't ping them in terms of rating, the only downside I found at this location was that they make you wait for a table, whether you have a reservation or not. I made reservations online on two different nights for 6:30PM and I arrived at the restaurant both times around 6 and was told both times that my table wasn't ready yet. So, I sat in the lobby playing on my phone expecting that I would be called promptly at 6:30 yet it was 6:45 and 7PM before the hostess said my table was ready. On both occasions, when I was taken to my table I noticed that there were at least 6 or 7 empty tables scattered throughout the restaurant so I don't know why they do this. Very frustrating, but at least the food is worth the wait.

Food quality has gone way down.

By T M |

Twice the steak and food have been charred in the outside. The Thai salad, probably the best thing in their menu, not longer includes avocado. What a shame, this place has gone downhill while their prices keep going up. Please save your money. It is definitely not worth it anymore.

Beautiful experience and great food

By Becky V |

We ate here last Sunday lunch. Made a reservation and arrived 20 minutes early. They squeezed us in early. The service was impeccable. The food was great. Very cozy environment. I have been eating at Houston's for decades and it never disappoints.

A popular spot for dinner

By DMJA21 |

The spinach dip and the Veggie burger are top rate. The service was only fair. It’s a very popular place. We were there on a Friday night and waited 15 minutes to be seated despite a reservation.

Great experience as always

By Lillybeau |

We had lunch at the Paces Ferry Atlanta location on Sunday. It's been awhile because we moved to the suburbs and it's a 40 minute ride to get to that side of the city, but it was so worth it. The food and service were excellent. I hadn't been since the negative publicity a few months ago, but I always knew the several locations I frequented the past 20 plus years to be nothing but excellent on all counts and it was good to see that is still the case.

First visit

By KRISTEN B |

First time visiting while in Atlanta. I ordered a salad with chicken, a pomegranate martini and a 5 nut brownie and I was very impressed with not only the presentation of my food but how good everything tasted.

My "go to" restaurant

By travelpro231 |

I live close and walk to this location. What can I say... Always a great place to dine. If I dine alone I sit at the bar. Kristin, Christina, Elliot, Brittany, Jessica, Renee, Courtney and Taylor are all great. When in the dining room I ask for either Nicole or Jessica. Never had a bad meal and rotate my preferences. I start with the Spinach & Artichoke dip or smoked Salmon. For dinner I love the Prime Rib, center cut Filet, Ribs or Seared Tuna steak (all are equally great). Depending on the item chosen I always accompany with either the Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc or the Mi Sueno Cabernet. Always save room for dessert. My personal favorite is the Hot fudge Sundae!! I recently (Feb 9) dined in the restaurant with family (Prime Rib was our selection) and Melody was our server. Houston's prides themselves on training the staff and it shows with every server. We all had a great time. Thanks for making this a special night. My family can't stop talking about the meal!!! A special shout out to the hostess. We were a party of 5 and were seated promptly. For a large crowd, I'm sure it takes a bit to juggle but got a great table.

Absolutely nothing special

By Stefano |

Not sure why my family wanted to wait over an hour to eat here. Mediocre at best. Although our server was great. Food was just ok. Not worth the wait when so many other great restaurants in ATL. Pass by this place.

Jazz and Food

By VMVMadison |

The staff is impressive. The Parking Valets, the Hostess, the Server, the Chef(s), and the Musicians make dining out a pleasure. Our Server Jessica 1174, and Brittany B who assisted her (These people work as a well-functioning team!) excel at customer service. They are personable and helpful and attentive. They make the difference, making the dining experience perfect. Kudos to the Chefs. The food is delicious. Recommend the French Dip, French Fries, Loaded Potato, Ice Cream Sundae, and if you are so inclined, the Margarita and Duckhorn Paraduxx Wine. The live music is a nice touch, setting Houston's apart from other dining venues. Highly recommend Houston's for a relaxing evening out.

Worst customer service ever!!

By Lisa M |

After changing a reservation from 2 people to 5 and asking for the next available table, we were told “we do not accept parties of 5” on Friday nights. Even though the tables/booths are very spacious we were trying to be understanding and asked for 2 tables of 2 and 3. Their response was “we don’t split parties”. “We will not take anymore parties of 3 at this time” Not only unreasonable but horrible way to treat a regular paying and high tipping customer. We will NEVER go back. Found an excellent welcoming restaurant Yeppa that will now receive our orders and money on Friday nights!!

Wow, I really miss the Buckhead location🙁

By nashvillebosse |

So sad that this experience was not to the Houston’s Standard that I am accustomed too. I am from Nashville and grew up eating at the original Houston’s on West End Ave. About 15 years ago I got the opportunity to cover the state of Georgia with work. While covering Georgia I set up camp in Buckhead at the Marriott on Lenox road and was able to dine at the Houston’s every-week. It was amazing and on point every single time. Well in the past 6 months the Lenox road location no longer exists. I was working at Piedmont Hospital till late this afternoon and decided to grab a bite before heading to Augusta, GA. I was seated then literally ignored for about 12 minutes then a server came around took my order and then really never saw them Again. I need water due to the fact I was eating creamy horseradish and they never asked if everything was okay. I am really sad that the level of service and attention was not there today. I miss the Buckhead location, the servers, the bartenders and the valet were the best in Atlanta, hands-down. The food is still good, but also sad that you cannot order the chicken sandwich anymore, they won’t even attempt even though they have all the ingredients.

Too dark for lunch

By Expattraveler100 |

We had lunch yesterday - you walk in and the ambiance is dark and business! I understand that perhaps for dinner but turn the lights up for lunch! It was busy, but the menu I found to be rather limited. The salmon starter is delightful, the artichoke and spinach dip not so good. The rotisserie chicken is good - large portion, but broccoli was steamed to death! If I were to eat here again I’d eat at the bar where it’s brighter - but if you want a business setting for lunch this would work. Valet parking is free.

What was once exceptional is no longer

By aminnick1 |

While the atmosphere remains top notch and most of the food is above average there is evidence of decline in the small details like the sides and Asian salad. In addition, we were there for a milestone birthday which the staff was well aware of and there was no mention of the special event - not even a Happy Birthday wish! Top it off with a bill well over $300 for 4 people and the conclusion is it’s not worth it anymore.

Not impressed

By NFrank82 |

I hadn't been to Houston's for a few years. I didn't care for it the first time, but I figured I would go with a friend who wanted a good steak. We got our appetizer (spinach and artichoke dip) on time. That was good! But our entrees took entirely too long that we were eating the crumbs off the appetizer plate. No one apologized about the delay. When our food arrived, we only ate a few bites. I was no longer hungry plus I didn't care for my sweet potato veggie burger. My friend also was not hungry. We asked for it to be boxed up. I was disappointed for the amount of money I spent. Poor service.

A Shame

By George B |

We've been going to the Peachtree Road Houston's for almost 20 years and we have never been disappointed. However, in the past 8 months or so the quality of their food has sunk to less than acceptable while their prices have substantially increased. Their "Famous French Dip" sandwich has gone from a 4/5 star rating to less than 2/5. They no longer butter the buns nor grill them; the roast beef is fatty; the au jus is a watered-down bouillon cube and their coleslaw is mostly mayo. All-in-all, $25 for this House Specialty would be laughable except for the potential that they have lost together with much of their long-time clientele. It is a sad and unnecessary fall from quality to mediocrity. I encourage the management to reevaluate their quality and customer aspirations.

Manager is horrible, not flexible, and shouldn't be in charge of this restaurant!

By Dawgsontop22 |

The manager was absolutely horrible to us as regulars of Houston's at Peachtree Buckhead. We have been going to this location for over 20 years. The online portal allows for reservations of 5+ and we had 5 adults yesterday and a 8 month old who was sitting on the mother's lap in a large round semi circle booth. We fit perfectly fine and the manager woman said that it was not allowed, when we asked why she said we were considered "6 people" and my friend said is this a fire hazard? What is the issue? We fit perfectly fine with a baby. She ended up separating us into 2 different tables. It was SO stupid for the restaurant and for us. Sadly will never go back and will be spreading the word amongst all our friends, families, and neighbors.

Delicious lunch.

By maryjoanprouty |

Were seated quickly and drinks brought right away. We ordered the chicken salad, cheeseburger with fries and the prime rib French dip sandwich with taboule. All were good but chicken salad was more spicy than expected. Would recommend.

Always a winner!

By Cici C |

My third visit with college aged kids and it never disappoints. I am a fan of the prime rib; prepared beautifully every time. Kids/young adults go for sandwiches and BBQ which also are very tasty. The portions are large. No one walks away hungry. The service is what sets the restaurant apart from others in the same category. Great wine offerings plenty of dinner choices. The live music adds another element of enjoyment to the experience.

Nothing like Lenox

By croakies |

Unfriendly bar staff, older women with skinny pony tail was unfriendly and was teaching her underling with glasses the same philosophy. Unfriendly and no attention to detail. We were in center of bar and felt blonde bartender on the other end was working very hard but neglected by her fellow employees which was so unusual at Lenox. We loved Lenox but this is not the same efficient sister. We won’t bother the effort again! Spinach Dip lukewarm and pork chop was not as good. Adios Houston’s! We know why you’re exiting Atlanta .

Great food

By Cindy L |

Had the best crab cakes in awhile. Excellent dirty martinis. Great atmosphere for visiting with friends.

Lovely atmosphere, excellent food!

By CaseyA |

We had a lovely evening at Houston's. The food was cooked to perfection, service was excellent and the ambiance was superb. Looking forward to eating here again!

I love Houston's

By Danny B |

I have been eating here since the late 80s. It is still one of my favorite places to eat. I have had the steaks, The hamburgers, The fish. I think they have one of the best salads and baked potatoes in the world. I never make a trip to Atlanta that I do not eat here.

Another Consistently Good Houston's Restaurant!!!

By Jim J |

Polite valet parking attendants; however, at busy times the arrival/departure area can get congested. We had dinner and our server was Lacey K. and she was very good, attentive, polite, and pleasing. We ordered a bottle of 2013 Duckhorn Paraduxx as listed on wine list. A 2014 came out and they did not have the 2013. We indicated disappointment because the wine list was not accurate. We were offered other choices but decided to stay with the 2014; it is NOT the wine the 2013 is. Our entrees were grilled trout and filet mignon. Both were prepared very well!

Underwhelmed

By Rick D |

My family is very familiar with Houstons. We used to frequent the one in Nashville before it went out of business. This was our first trip to the Peachtree Road location in Atlanta. Visited on a Saturday night and it was busy. We had reservations a week ahead. We were greeted promptly and then it went downhill from there. The hostess lost our name from her computer list (she said). We waited 25 minutes and had to go ask to be seated. When we were ready to order there was more trouble. 1/ They were out of grilled artichoke. 2/ They had stopped serving cheese bread or any bread at all. 3/ Had to ask for ketchup for the fries 3 times. 4/ The service was very slow. 5/ The water was served without ice and without leaving the carafe at the table. 6/ They stopped serving chicken tenders in the evenings. I will give them credit for the food quality. The prime rib was excellent and the fries and salads were really good. So, it is not the food quality problem, it is management and service. The cheese bread used to be outstanding as was the artichoke. Despite many people waiting outside there were always empty tables around us. Maybe they just had an off night.

Rude and racist establishment

By Amber S |

I was dining at this restaurant tonight and as soon as my party paid for our food the "manager" came by our table and just stood there staring at my child. After a few seconds of him not saying anything, I asked can I help him and he said "yes, she is too loud and can she go outside". My baby is 8 months old! She is a BABY! We kept the pacifier in her mouth and he saw that. She was not loud where she was disturbing the peace in the restaurant. Matter of fact, there was no one around us for her to disturb! The whole other part of the restaurant was loud! I could not believe this manager had the AUDACITY to tell my 8 month old baby to go outside. I told him that he was being very rude and disrespectful and I feel like he pointed us out because we were black. There was a million of ways that he could have told us to quiet my baby down if he thought she was too vocal. If Houstons is a family friendly restaurant, they need to understand families will bring their babies but there is a way to do things when situations like this occur. I am pissed and will NEVER go back to this restaurant! I wish I could give this place 0 stars for their professionalism and racist manager.

Steak and Salad

By JeffS |

Always have to order the fillet. It is that good. Pairs nicely with Bok Choy or purée potatoes. Wife always get the chicken and kale salad It is that good.

Casual Dinner

Relaxed atmosphere with great food. The warm salmon appetizer was delicious as were the pork ribs. Stafff friendly and attentive. Very busy so a good buzz and if your into celebs you may well see one. Great cocktails and a good wine list. Well worth a visit.

Wait and be Ignored for an Hour

By Nigel O |

I used to love Houstons. Not anymore. Tried to get a seat at the bar was told there was await and they would call me which is fine. I sat waiting without even anyone asking if they could get me a drink. Check with the hostess a couple of time. Totally disinterested, Complete shambles. Never again.

Not what it used to be!

By rustybob64 |

Not what it used to be! My wife was shocked to know the Lenox location had closed. We were in town celebrating a little and decided on Houston’s only to call and fin out they had closed. We decided to drive to Peachtree location, we called about 2 minutes before we arrived and asked if they had a wait, we were told fifteen minutes, 5 minutes later when we arrived we were told fifty five minute wait. Slick move. Food was ok, skimpy on the Fries, the spinach and artichoke dip was awesome, salsa was really good, gave about half as many chips as needed, $15 was pricey. Burgers were ok wife and daughter had, not worth $19 each. I had a long time favorite the ribs. The no longer serve the great beans they used to serve so you get slaw. I don’t eat slaw so I ordered double fries. Still got about a half serving. Had brownie for desert, someone thought putting expressions powder on the ice cream was a good idea, not so much, just tasted burnt. To sum up,a terrible experience for $110. I’ve patronized Houston’s for probably 40 years in Georgia and Florida. I guess the Lenox location had the same issues. I’m not cheap I spent 3k at Louis Vuitton an hour later, it’s just not what it used to be.

Never Again

By NYCGuy321 |

Never again. In the last three months, my wife and I have tried to go to Houston's 4 separate times. The only time we succeeded was New Year's Day for the black-eyed peas special. Each other time, we called ahead to check on the wait and were told there was none, only to find, when we arrived, that the wait was 25-40 minutes. Today was the last straw. We called at noon to check on the wait and were told there was none. We made a second call, at 12:14, as we were approaching the restaurant, to confirm and were told "There is no wait, but that is subject to change." At that moment, we were turning off Peachtree and pulling up to the Houston's valet stand (with a full view of the front of the restaurant), where there were 4 parking valet's standing idly, waiting for a customer. Imagine our shock, walking in to the restaurant, as 12:15, and being told there was currently a 25 minute wait! The hostess that told us at 12:14 that there was no wait was standing right there. We were not pleased, as this was the third time in three months that something similar had happened, and this time, it was absolutely obvious that we were mislead when we called. We were given an empty apology -- "we're sorry, but things change" and the hostess we spoke with was "unaware of the wait time" (isn't that her job?). The word "lie" has some strong meaning attached to it, but, simply, the staff at Houston's LIED to us. We are thrilled that they are busy. After the debacle at the Lenox Square site, we have always wanted Houston's to succeed. The food is more expensive than at comparable restaurants, but loyalty kept us going there. No more. Go up to Whitehall Tavern at Peachtree Battle. The food is just as good and half the price. Never again, Houston's.

“No longer Serving Walk ins”

By Jeslene P |

Food Photographer for a notable Social Media Blogger and Magazine Contributor sent to location which took me two hours to drive to due to local Atlanta traffic. I arrived at Houston’s at exactly 8:30 pm I approached the Hostess stand as she did not acknowledge me and continued looking down at her clipboard. I said, Hello I have a party of three she see hold on one second and walked away after a few minutes she returned and stated, “We are no longer accepting walk-in so I am sorry.” The second hostess chimed in saying for future reference we do take reservations with a line of about 10 people standing right behind me.

What Have They Done to One of Atlanta's Best?

By NYCGuy321 |

I've probably reviewed Houston's on Peachtree before, but my last visit requires an update. The service, ambiance and food are still good, but there have been some menu changes. First, they are taken the baked beans off the menu. This used to be a staple and one of our favorites. Also gone is the cheese toast. Prices are still higher than most places. They also do not do fountain sodas at the tables -- most other places basically offer unlimited soda. At Houston's, each 8 ounce bottle adds to the already high cost. These changes mean we will go a lot less frequently. What's next to go, the Ding's chicken sandwich?

Terrible Service

By Scott S |

I would echo what others have said. This used to be an amazing restaurant but the staff is so unwelcoming and the food is just not nearly as good. Also the service was substandard. They seem to foster a culture of unfriendliness and disdain for their customers. I will not be back

First Meet

By Carmen R |

The atmosphere here at Houston's was very cozy and friendly. The staff is excellent. I had a simple hamburger with fries. The meal was yummy 😋😋

Vince has put together a great team, with all the right attitudes and skills

By jscottthompson |

Friday night was first time in here in over 5 years. We had taken it off our go-to list due to a deterioration in the longs-standing standard of service and environment. We decided to pop-in last night. There was a 30 minute wait, so we added our name to this list, went for a drive, and returned. We were seated promptly at a booth in the bar. Our service, the meals, and the environment couldn't have been better. The jazz was awesome. Our meals were quality and quantity, and it was a pleasure watching the servers work the room. Great job folks. Vince's name is the only one I briefly met, but whoever orchestrated this return-to-greatness should be rewarded. Yes, all the prices continue to escalate, but that's somewhat understandable, and worth it if the experience is at was. thanks!

Great Stop for Lunch

By inneryne2016 |

Cold beer, good hamburger,GREAT shrimp cocktail in a charming atmosphere. The service was perfect even though it was quite crowded and we had to eat at the bar. I would love to go back!

Loyal customer finally leaves for good - behind everyone else....

By Danielle D |

Houston's Restaurant *used to be* my favorite restaurant for 34 years. I am finally following everyone else and I will *never* go back. Listen to your loyal customers. Stop removing favorites from the menu. You removed the beloved Flying Chicken Platter and are very rude to anyone who attempted to order it. Maybe you wouldn't have had to close all the other Atlanta locations if you would have listened to your loyal customers. Unbelievable. You have the following - and you can tell by the wait times - you would have never had to close those locations if you listened to what your customers actually wanted on the menu. In time, this location will be closed too. Such a shame. Used to be an Atlanta favorite.

Not the same & Suspect 'policies'

By Maya O |

Pros: Good Service, nice atmosphere, awesome staff. Cons: Too many 'rules': can't order most salads & French Fries as to go items (very limited to go menu). Questionable 'policies and procedures' that seem discriminatory, bias and isolating. Controlling environment which takes away from the overall culinary experience. Frustrations: If I want to order a sashimi tuna salad to go....let me order the damn salad. I was told this dish doesn't travel well. I'm a big girl and can make that call. Same with the french fries- If I want to order fries to go and reheat them...let me reheat the damn fries. Why are baseball caps not allowed but golf hats are? Why am I not allowed to use my phone...we live in the days of technology and as a professional, I should be able to multi-task while working and enjoying dinner. And please do everything you can to bring back the chicken batter used prior to covid. It is just not the same without those secretly famous chicken fingers. Not allowed to order a well done steak- I totally get that 'policy' . Very simply, not the same. Sadly, my 20 year love affair has come to an end.

AMAZING FOOD!!1

By destintohotlanta2020 |

AMAZING FOOD!! One of my new favorites... Everything we ordered was superb.....The wine was fabulous and the cold smoked salmon appetizer was the absolute BEST...

Great, consistent, good food and service place.

By Barnesms |

Had another great dinner at Houston’s, Atlanta, Piedmont Road. Talking with my family, commented that we had been here back in the late 1980’s, the year of our wedding, and took my British family there (far corner booth), the raved about it. Loved the ribs! We have been coming since, and have never been disappointed. We had ribs tonight, as good as ever, the spinach and artichoke dip, the (new) Brussels Sprouts, the Thai Salad (with Chicken), regular burger, vegan burger. We covered all palates, and had another great meal. (Excellent service too, from Taj our waitress (sorry if I spelled your name wrong). Great, consistent, good food and service place. Only thing GET A RESERVATION, waiting is tough as it is so popular.

TERRIBLE, MORE TERRIBLE AND MOST TERRIBLE OF ATLANTA

By MISS D |

I have tried and tried to give this facility the opportunity to live up to Hillstone Restaurant Branding. It is garbage beyond measure!! It took over 20 minutes to get on the waiting list with only 65% occupancy in the place. After the hostess made the bartender seat me in the bar area, the service became more terrible. I was checking emails while waiting my 35+ min wait on food, the manager came up to me from behind and said they have a no phone policy. I advised I wasn't on the phone, I was just scrolling through emails. If you need to have your phone out, you have to step outside. I asked for him to check on my food because now I have been at the restaurant for an hr. He refused to address the issue of my food. Then I stepped outside to answer a call. While on the phone, a gentleman comes up to me and says, " Ma'am, have you paid for your food?" I said, I haven't received my food and I'm on the phone." He then addresses me as if I'm trying to avoid paying my bill. I go back in and my food is still not up. After it finally comes up, it's incorrect. I asked for the manager. The mgr comes and then says, you can't have your phone out on the table. I just knew Ashton Kutcher was going to come out from behind somewhere and tell me I was getting punked. I requested the bill and you already know I won't be back and Nobody in Atlanta should return to this particular restaurant. Terrible!!!!

Excellent service, atmosphere & food

By arockefellerview |

Excellent!!! The handsome, rescued brick carriage house pub interior was once the exterior of Atlanta's Lowe's Theater, where the film Gone With the Wind premiered. High beamed ceilings and genuine gas light fixtures create a cozy atmosphere to enjoy with buddies, family or romantic yet casual date. Low key jazz background music sets the tone for a hearty dining experience. We had the Roast Beef on crusty baguette with a Cheddar, Bacon, Sour Cream & Butter loaded baked potato, and a Grilled Sliced Chicken Salad with lime vinegrette & peanut sauce. (Without the corn salsa that usually comes with it.) Both meals were excellent. Personalized requests were accomodated cheerfully, and service was attentive & professonal. Every dish served to others were equally piled high, smelled delicious as ours. Perhaps enhanced by their open kitchen concept. Full bar & extensive wine list. Several dessert options with vanilla ice cream, or the brownies didnt tempt us. Valet parking. Live jazz on weekends. About $25- $50 per person.

Excellent meal and service

Went on a Tuesday night to a packed house with a wait list. Found a couple seats in the bar and had a great meal, with professional service by the bartender Grace. Exactly as ordered. Would definitely go back.

Lunch at Houston's on Peachtree

By VMVMadison |

Kudos to Aaron M., the Server. His service made the difference. Attentive, friendly, helpful. Kudos to the Chef for delicious food (recommend the Burger, French Dip and Pork Chops). Kudos to Valets who are cheerful and friendly and quick to serve. When dining out, we are looking for the most relaxing experience possible, which includes a quieter area in any restaurant making conversation possible, i.e. hearing. There are some booths that offer that experience, but the hostess told us they were not available, so I was agreeable to seating in any quieter area. It appears that the hostess who seated us was not aware of the request. Consequently she took us to a booth that was in one of the restaurant's noisiest areas. I explained my request for seating in a quieter area. The initial response was that I would need to wait. On reflection, she offered another booth, and it was more acceptable. While the Servers are consistently attentive and friendly and helpful. And, the food is consistently flavorful and enjoyable (My husband believes the food is on the pricey side). Our favorite experience is the live music, which we unfortunately were not able to experience due to our dining early. Highly recommend dining with the live music. The musicians make the dining experience perfect.

Nice Place for a Date

By BostonJoka |

My wife and I had lunch at the restaurant. Parking was not a problem. The food and service were outstanding. We split a French dip and had a spinach and artichoke dip for and app. Service was great. All the servers worked as a team to make the visit perfect. The venue is a little pricey, but it is worth it. We would definitely go back.

Never disappoints!

By Nisey |

For starters, my mom ordered the spinach dip & I ordered the salad. They both were delicious. We both ordered the ribs & they were fall off the bone, melt in your mouth good. I’ve never had a bad experience at any location. Will definitely be back!

Houston's

By EvanGuthrie |

Houston's on Peachtree Road in Atlanta is a great place to go for delicious burgers, steaks, and much more. I really like the location and atmosphere here where you can really enjoy a well prepared meal. The staff here is very attentive and provides excellent customer service.

Great dinner, great steak

By TheBigD2014 |

We went with a group, a little disappointed because they will not take a reservation for more than 4 people, we just had to show up. We had 8 and they sat us at 2 different tables. I had a steak and a ceasar salad. The salad was good, but the steak was great. The ribeye was a good cut and was cooked perfectly. They had a good wine selection and we enjoyed the dinner very much. Houston's has great service and the servers made us feel very appreciated.

Pretty sushi

By Jesse R |

During a brief visit to Atlanta in the fall, I stopped in here to try their legendary shrimp cocktail but alas, they were out so I tried the sushi instead. We sat at the bar and ordered the Osaka Style’ Pressed Sushi (tuna stacked with avocado, cucumber & sushi rice) and a Coconut Shrimp Roll. The bartender was super friendly and apologetic about running out of shrimp cocktail but was helpful in assisting our selections of sushi.

Amazing.

By Ellen S |

Houston's never disappoints. We have eaten at a variety of locations in three states, and the quality and service is wonderful. Atmosphere is great for a date night and we had a jazz combo tonight. Great food every time.

Great Food and Service

By Sandra G |

We started with spinach and artichoke dip and then enjoyed the grilled chicken salad and the Thai steak salad. All were excellent. We had the five nut brownie and the apple walnut cobbler for dessert. Delicious! Nicole was the best server ever!

The new Houston's is not up to par

By cowbulls |

My family and I use to eat at Houston's in another city once a week. We love dining there. We have been customers of Houston's for over 30 years. I now understand why the locations at Lenox and Perimeter have closed. We drove to the Peachtree location, and the disappointments started. The wait was estimated wrong. The hostess wasn't concerned at all. The menu had been completely revamped and the prices had nearly doubled. The goal seems to be to turn this comfortable place to get good food at a reasonable amount into a pretentious, snotty restaurant. $15 for an appetizer dip and $20 for a hamburger is way off base. The ribs, a long-time personal favorite was still excellent. My wife enjoyed her burger.

Crying

By Danny B |

I am doing something I never even thought was possible. I am giving Houston’s one star. After 32 years of eating at Houston’s I am so upset about this. They changed the menu. They took the chicken tenders off the menu for diner. They took the cheese toast off the menu. I paid $10 for a salad that would fit in a cup. I also had the hamburger and it had no taste. Did not even taste like it had salt or pepper. I would advise u to go elsewhere. I am just sad. I have had some of the best meals here. My mom felt the same way. My mom Said it was like we were robbed of our Houston’s meal. There are too many great places to eat in Atlanta. Spend your money some place else.

A wonderful lunch

By BandCTravel |

Came up for lunch to meet Family/Friends and this was a good meeting spot for them. (always like the food there). First the valet service is so easy Second they have a dress code, read it on their website really good! Third our server was Xavier was just wonderful! We were there for 3 hours and he help make the visit so comfortable. Four the vegetarian dish is delicious! Five we had great seating a booth for 5. Great for chatting. Wished we live closer!

RIDICULOUS MANAGEMENT

By PAIGE B |

I was at dinner with my husband at our favorite restaurant. There was the sweetest couple with their three kids celebrating their daughter’s first birthday. The little girl was so well mannered and so quiet, She was just sitting smiling sitting beside her father. The rude rude manger in a white coat came and was so rude to the family. I was so embarrassed for them. Another manager came and was asking what would help her be quiet. The waitress kept apologizing to the couple for the rude (wanna be management) I never heard the little girl say anything. We were in the booth beside them and she was so much more well behaved and quieter than the couples beside us. The mangers or whatever you call the rude employees need to learn what is important. I have been going to Houstons for 30 years and will NOT be back. This is a restaurant we went to monthly and it not how we want to see people treated. YOU WERE RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL AND NEED TO LEARN MANAGEMENT. I WAS TRULY EMBARASSED I WAS SPENDING MONEY AT WHAT USE TO BE A FAVORITE. I will be telling my friends/family about this experience and will not be back! I am so sorry to this family enjoying a dinner with their family. The rude management sure made a memory for this family. Shame shame shame on this kind of management.

Pretentious and the food is over done

By Polly S |

Pretentious and the food is over done. There are too many restaurants to go to Houston’s any more. The food use to be great and it was an Atlanta staple. Now, they aren’t really concerned with their customer experience and they are trying too hard with the food.

Rude waitress and man

By Lena A |

Ordered dinner and 2 spinach dips for me and 1 spinach dip for my mom and when they didn't bring my mom's out with her food and we asked about it they said it was too late and we couldn't have it because they don't serve spinach dip to go and they would have to pack it up if she doesn't finish it. When we said that it was meant to go with her food and she will eat as much as she can, both the waitress and the manager had an attitude an refused to give her spinach dip. It was the weirdest hill to die on, but the effect was achieved I'm never going back.

Always a treat

By Searay31 |

Never had a bad meal or bad service at this Resturant. I had the tuna and it was awesome and cooked like I like it

Service excellent, food extraordinary!!!

By Sabrinia T |

My boyfriend and I went to Houston's (Atlanta) for his birthday and it was excellent. We arrived about 15 minutes early and was seated within 2 minutes of arrival. The staff was wonderful. The waitstaff was impressive and the food cooked to perfection. We had a wonderful evening and the live Jazz was great. This is a great place for a date night! Really great Lemon Drop Martini and my boyfriend loved the pork chop. We will be back. We loved this place!!!

Love this place

By Cajun in Tuscaloosa |

Whenever I’m in a town that has a Houston’s restraint I make a point of going! I love the Hawaiian Steak and the salad with hat bacon and honey mustard dressing is fantastic.

I am in love with the club salad

By Tomeka M |

I am in love with the club salad. I love the buttermilk dressing, it's a must try. The waiter was Ricky he was phenomenal. He was very attentive, always on point, very mannerable and well spoken. The Hawaiian rib eye is always on Point usually. This time mine was quite dry and so I did not eat it that was a huge disappointment. I asked for my steak to be medium well as well as my husband's steak. But my steak was well done and mostly burnt and my husband steak was medium rare it was bleeding on the plate. But I love the atmosphere and the ambiance

Quality not the same

By Kristal S |

Houston's has been one of my favorites for many years and all the locations I've visited in Texas, Florida and Georgia have all been consistently excellent. The last visit was different; the service was mediocre, the food tasted okay at best, and wine tasted and smelled old and bitter. I know when wine is no good, and that wine should've been thrown out and not served. It smelled like vinegar which usually means it's turned. Thumbs down! I did enjoy the Spinach Artichoke dip though. I probably won't be back to this location in Atlanta.

Pretentious & overrated

By vsl404 |

Pretentious & overrated. Would recommend anywhere else in Atlanta. Unoriginal menu, stuffy atmosphere.

Wonderful food and environment!

By 364abl |

The spinach dip is amazing! Houstons has the best baked potatoes! The Hawaiian Ribeye is my personal favorite! Love the fact that someone plays the piano in the dining room. Service is always wonderful!

Houston's is the Bees Knees

By Lisa S |

I loved everything about this dining experience. From the valet parking to the excellent service to the ample portions of the fresh delicious food. You really need to try "the bees knees" cocktail which is one of may handcrafted original cocktails. The salads are fresh and plentiful. The appetizers delicious. I really enjoyed my French Dip. Will definitely return on my next trip to Atlanta.

Baby’s or children Are not allowed !!

By Hailey l |

Me and my family come here all the time and sad to say this will be our LAST I have 3 kids and I’ve never had this problem Almost every Sunday we are here so me my husband and my 5 yr son 3yr old daughter and my 10 month old baby , The manager kept coming up to us bc my 10 month old was in excitement of eating she said he was “crying” a little to loud ! She didn’t just come up one time not two not 3 not 4 times !!! He was definitely not making that much noise Umm he is a baby. !! And if They do not allow kids nor baby’s there it needs to be a sign !! that it is a club. ! My child actually pays her to have a job !! And we ask for refills and she kept coming up to us reminding us it’s a up charge for every refill !! UMMMM OK !??? We know that we have money we will pay our bill so are you trying to say we can’t afford extra refills or is there a limit!? So me and my husband gets our food and children’s food not even half way in to eating and once again here comes “THE MANAGER” ganna ask can I get something for the CHILD , witch I thought was rude he’s a baby !? And ganna tell me he’s to loud to take him out the dining area !! So we got up paid our bill and left with empty stomachs witch I should of left and let her pay it ! She was VERY Rude !!! Me and my husband will NEVER come here to eat again or celebrate anything there !!! For her to be a manager she must not be a mother because she was very very rude !!!!

Extremely terrible service mean

By K L |

This peachtree Location is by far the worst. Not sure about the other locations but this one seems to be extremely racist. The shocking look the old blonde with glasses who appeared to be a host there stared at me and didn't even greet me. I don't understand what the stare was about but than I see all the bad reviews about how they are judgmental if you are a person of color. Simple as that. I was dressed in a conservative blazer and was wondering what did I do? I will never come back to this location. The older woman who is a host she is very rude. You would think she would treat another woman with respect and just be pleasant...Nope. Very Bad service. What a joke.

Excellent Food and Vibe

By gsf3401 |

I was visiting from out of town and Houston's was close to our hotel. Houston's is a good choice for a smooth, jazzy vibe and good food. Service was prompt and the food was fresh and hot. It's not kid-friendly at all. There were some children dining there but I was quickly told that they have no high chairs and no boosters. While most staff were friendly, I did get more than a few ugly glares from staff who clearly didn't like my grand daughter being there with me. I enjoyed my appetizers and wine, but took my entree to go. I had a reservation and was seated immediately.

Yummy food, great ambience

By aPiratesHeart |

Enjoyed the food and the setting but it is not very kid friendly. I felt so bad for the next table over, there was a toddler and the wait staff didn't seem very comfortable with the kid crying so I prob would not bring kids here. My friend had a 7 month year old with her and although they did their best to accommodate her stroller they didn't seem very equipped to deal with children. I had no cash on me and didn't realize they had free valet. The guy was so nice about taking my car I felt so bad for not being able to tip him, he was so nice!!! I had the filet mignon and my friend has the ribs (pics included). Both were tasty. The cole slaw had a unique flavor. Overall I enjoyed out visit. Great for a business lunch or dinner date!

Another wonderful dinner at Houston's

By Deep S |

Houston's is one of our favorite restaurants in Atlanta. The service is impeccable, and we love the environment defined by rich wood paneling, soft leather booths, and - many evenings - live jazz. We are vegetarian and usually order the the spinach artichoke dip, veggie burger (with shoestring fries), veggie plate, and of course the ice cream sundae.

Worst ever

By Patricia P |

Have you ever eaten at a restaurant that will not allow you to order food to go? Well Houston’s won’t! Oh sure if you’d like a greasy hamburger or some ribs, you’re more than welcome however if you prefer better cuisine and some quality food they will not allow you to take it out. After spending over $500 and way too much time here we discovered that we were not permitted to order food to go for our sick friend. Needless to say we will never be back Houston’s needs to close all of their doors not just the one by Lenox Ashley who claim to be the manager, came over with her whiny voice and told us that we can’t order that type of food because it won’t reflect the quality that Houston’s prefers their food to be known by. What a crock! This girl thinks she’s so much better than she is. I’ve eaten at restaurants all over the world and believe me Houston’s is way down on the list of quality establishments. Do yourself a favor and go to Maggianos. At least they appreciate your business

Always consistent!

By ATLchick4life |

While I am sad that the Lenox Road location closed, I do like the proximity of the Peachtree Road location. I have been going to Houston's for years...yes, they have had some "drama" with bad press tied to guest experiences in the media. No, I don't feel like the food has suffered...on my visit this weekend, I had the Salmon app, a baked potato and salad. My friend had the ribs, cole slaw and a baked potato as well. Coupled with a bottle of Frank Family Chardonnay it was a good meal and enjoyable time. I will say that I noticed a few things that were different...at the bar they have a "list" that you have to put your name on if there is standing room. A list to sit at the bar seemed a bit much to me. Secondly, I have been eating the Salmon app for years and they have raised the price point to $17...it was never that much before Lenox location closed...I asked and they said "We have changed a few of the menu items". Third, they now serve Sushi- -that was new to me. I will continue to go and am sorry to read that some reviews recently have referenced the service and food experience as negative.

Delicious but pricey

By CommodoreFan |

Absolutely loved everything for dinner! Ribs that fall off the bone, plump crab cakes, and flavorful filet...so good!! Service was great, as well. No complaints except for prices that seem a bit steep for what used to be a more reasonably priced restaurant. We don’t all drive Range Rovers...but we all appreciate good eats!

Christmas eve dinner

By marinablueproperties |

We ate at this location 11 months ago and at that time I would have given it a complete fail. However, last evening from the greeting of our waitress, food presentation and taste to the payment of our bill. We were amazed at what a difference there was from our past encounter. Come to find out there was a management change, which I would say was the solution to the problem. Thank you to the hard working staff for a wonderful meal and to corporate for making a positive impact on food quality and customer service.

Excellent food, service was superior and atmosphere was perfect for a dinner for six friends.

By bsfkane |

We arrived early enough to have drinks on the patio. The seating and comfort of the patio made time fly by for our gathering. The beer, wine and drink selection from the bar was varied and top shelf. There is no cocktail waitress but It is easy enough to step inside and get a drink from the bar. Our tab was transferred to the table when we went into eat. Houston’s has an excellent menu with a nice variety of choices. Sushi, steaks, seafood, pork chops, burgers, vege plate, salads and more. The Cheese Toast is some of the best we have ever had. Every thing is prepared with quality as the cornerstone. Between six of us we had a sampling of every category. Every plate not only looked great but all reported an outstanding meal. This is one restaurant we will make a regular stop on our restaurant rounds.

One of my favorite restaurants!

By Jan B |

It has been a while since we ate at the Midtown Houston's location. The food and service are always consistently good! Everything they do at Houston's is delicious! We were able to get seated easily for lunch during the week. Love that they have complimentary valet parking and all of the valets are very pleasant and nice.

Never Disappoints

By Chante S |

I really love the atmosphere of this restaurant and the food isn't too shabby either. We just dropped in for lunch Easter Sunday and I was really please with the food and service.

Jessica the bartender

By Gregg C |

You will never be disappointed. While Houston’s is an amazing restaurant where you’ll never have a bad meal, Jessica the bartender takes it to another level! She can handle all levels of craziness while making you feel like your the most important customer she’s had all day. She is an asset that I’m sure is not getting paid what she’s worth!

Favorite restaurant did not disappoint!!

By mommasdazy |

My husband and I spent the weekend in Atlanta and we were so happy to eat at Houston's!! This was our favorite restaurant in Nashville and they unfortunately closed it many years ago. We went on a Friday night around 7:30 and there was a 1 1/2 hour wait for a table which we expected. However, we were surprised to find out that you had to be put on a wait list for the seats at the bar - never seen this done before but maybe it's normal for Atlanta. They do have a service area at the end of the bar where you can get drinks and the service was pretty good - my margarita was delicious and my husband's Crown on the Rocks was a good pour. At the table, our server Anna was very friendly and attentive. We had the Chilled Jumbo Shrimp appetizer which was amazing - the shrimp are so big and fresh! For dinner, I had the Hawaiian Rib Eye Steak with loaded potato and my husband had the Roasted Prime Rib with loaded potato - it was all so delicious!! The only negative comment I have is that the dress code and cell phones prohibited policies listed on their website is not at all enforced so it should be removed. There were people wearing flip flops, basketball jersey tanks, hats, etc. and at least 80% of the crowd were using their cell phones. It doesn't make sense to state a policy if you aren't going to enforce it.

Unfriendly

By Beth T |

We were told they could no longer sit a party of 5 “a new policy”. We are a family of 5. The hostess was extremely rude. The restaurant was half empty at 12pm. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant and won’t be back.

Lunch

By Stephen C |

Good and tasty food. Ordered the barbecue ribs. Very tender meat. Restaurant ambience is very romantic and cosy.

Do not waste your time coming to this place

By Libby E |

Wasted 2 hours of my time in this establishment.......when you have an hour waiting time, let your customers know when they call to ask if they need a reservation. Don't say you can walk-in only to be told there's an hour wait for a table when they get in the restaurant. I wasted 2 hours and we were still not given a table...2 hours and we were not able to actually eat. THIS RESTAURANT IS THE WORST!

Slipping badly...

By Gbgood |

Have enjoyed this location often. The best part of this lunch was the excellent valet team! Inconsistent entrees. We both ordered the Thai Salad. Vastly different from plate to plate. Size and composition. Seemed something missing in one maybe just quantity. Then key lime pie came without its usual cloud of whipped cream, a dollop if that. And in disarray on the plate. Our waiter scurrying to handle other customers as we waited with empty iced tea glasses. Sad to lose a wonderful, consistent eatery in Atlanta.

CHICKEN SALAD WAS GOOD

By Miles Archer |

The place was getting busy as I ate. There was distancing between tables of diners. I had a chicken salad. It was pretty good and reasonably priced. Service could have been friendlier.

Great Food, Nice Bar

By wwalker2016 |

This is a BIG restaurant but one can get seated pretty quickly. Even with a wait the large, well serviced bar makes life bearable. The food is good but pretty standard steak and seafood. But first order a smoked salmon and toast appetizer. I have order two in a row and called it dinner. Very tasty and highly recommended!!

Bad service and rude waiter

By Ralph C |

Server was rude and snappy. Took way too long to be seated. Order came out wrong twice. Will never eat here again. Manager was also a jerk. This place sucks!!!

MANAGER FOLLOW YOU ABOUT YOUR TIP

By Flyer44957234133 |

Aside from being cashed out of the restaurant by the manager to confront me about the amount I tipped there was hair in my fries… TERRIBLE!!!

No Bloody Mary's on served on weekdays?

By Lisa W |

Had lunch today (Friday) with a friend who ordered a Bloody Mary before her lunch. She was told by the server that they serve them only on weekends. "You can't put a little vodka in some tomato juice for me?" my friend asked. Yes, she was told, but could not add a slice of lime, a splash of Tabasco nor an olive, not even a celery stick! We're still in shock that an establishment would choose, not only to loose the $10 or so for the drink, but also two lifelong customers. Stunned...and won't be back.

Excellent service

By Jose G |

Busy restaurant but at 2:30 PM we did not wait to be seated. The food was plentiful and tasty and the prices were below average, for a visitor from Boston eating in a similar restaurant. The service was outstanding. It was prompt and very attentive. We did have good time in this classic NW Atlanta place

Business Lunch

By Dtipainter |

Although I wouldn’t classify Houston’s as a burger restaurant, they have the best Burger I have ever eaten. It’s not on the menu, but it it’s the Hickory Burger You won’t be disappointed! Give it a try!

Do not eat here they are prejudice against black ppl

Do not eat here if you are black. they so prejudice they was so rude towards me wouldn’t except my payment it was so embarrassing I had my kids with me never again will I ever eat there

Great Dinner with Covid Precautions

By Naomi S |

Fabulous dinner and great service last night at the Peachtree Houstons. All of the servers and hosts had on face masks, which was fantastic. Lot's of sanitation efforts. So appreciate the efforts, Houston. Food - consistently good. Grilled artichokes, salmon and Kale salad were fantastic as usual.

Pricey yet not extensive menu

By Lang C |

To start, the title of my review may make it seem like this is a negative review. It is not intended to be. We had almost no wait to be seated. The restaurant is almost a little too intimate for large parties, yet there were more than a few in place, with at least two parties of more than seven that left rather than waiting for a table. Once seated, the hostess took our drink order. She was very efficient and friendly. Our server then came along after the appropriate amount of time and took our order. The server - I believe her name is Melina, but I honestly forgot - provided incredible customer service with a smile that seemed very genuine. It is so nice to have someone in Atlanta who understands that service starts with a smile. Awesome. Now for the menu. I had not been to Houston's in several years and the menu has changed immensely. It was once extensive but now seemed catered to a suburban clientele. I do not understand this, as the restaurant lives in the city. The meal was passable, nothing great. This is unfortunate, but not a return-visit blocker.

Not so hot on a Friday night at this location

By JoelTifton |

Houston's is a favorite of ours. Unfortunately the experience tonight was not good. Service is usually exceptional. That the biggest part of experience. The servers seemed to be stressed. Ours was inexperienced. The manager did not make eye contact. My reviews for Houston's is usually exceptional but this location was way off. I hope they improve but I will avoid this one in future.

Rude Hostess

Tried to have dinner at this restaurant early on a Monday evening. My wife called the restaurant to see if it was crowded and told that there was currently no wait. We arrived in less than five minutes and went to the hostess who then told us it was a 35 minute wait. The restaurant was not crowded and after telling her about the call she was rude and didn't have any other suggestions besides waiting. There are too many other great restaurants in Buckhead, I won't be back to Houston's

Average

By aaron k |

Great atmosphere and service but the food was average at best. It was a good experience but it wasn't worth the money spent. We stopped at a Applebees on our way home for drinks and appetizers.

Outstanding service!!

By Gladys G |

I frequent a lot of restaurants in different states, particularly Miami and Atlanta. I can honestly say it’s been a while since I received such service from the wait staff Sheylynn( I hope I’m spelling her name correctly, is definitely an assert to Houston’s. Tuna Tatar was delicious ( new on the menu), steak, burger. Everything was great , but the service is what will make me return. Kudos!!!!!

Great Houston’s!

By KitKat |

This was the best Houston’s that I have ever been to. The night we were there they had a live Jazz trio playing. Atmosphere there was terrific and food was good standard Houston’s fair. They also had a sushi bar which I had never seen before in a Houston’s restaurant.

No chicken fingers on the menu any longer

By Ti F |

The prices are outrageous now! Everything is ala cart! A burger almost $20 then the fries cost 6.00. I treated 2 friends out they were ordering like they were on a date with a man. Smh! Never buy appetizers when a friend takes you to lunch just stick to your meal also never order 3 drinks on someone elses tab ESPECIALLY at $17. a drink! I love to be a blessing however i will never go to Houston's on Peachtree again and i will pick where i eat when im treating. Spent almost $200 and only had 2 drinks for myself. The waitresses were funny acting and the manager was rude! Better places with much better food! They should close all the houstons down!

Bad Experience

By Brittany Benton |

My friends birthday, i made a reservation for 3. Our reservation was for 6pm!! My 2 friends arrived before for me when i left my car at valet and walked up to the door, you could smell weed, like someone was outside smoking. The valet guy Johnathon stated it always smells like that. However; i proceed to walk in the building get to my friends who were at the host desk we told them we had reservations for 6pm and gave our name. A guy who stated he was the manager, asked us to step back outside until our table was ready so that we could air off, basically told us we smelt like weed. I assured the man that he was sterotyping- i asked him to remove his mask and walk outside his building. This made us very uncomfortable and not once did he offer any type of discount or anything!! Not happy at all; and will never return to this houstons again. Very rude manager!

Rude, unapologetic management

By Lor mer |

Took a friend to lunch for her birthday. Just the 2 of us. Third friend tried to FaceTime Happy birthday wishes, since her family Member has co morbid risks factors and felt it best not to come in person. Man came to the table, never announcing who he was, and told me to stop the FaceTime as was against their policy, to use phones or FaceTime. The waitress was pleasant and did her job well. The management team DID NOT do their job well. Basically could have cared less that not only did they rudely interrupt the birthday celebration, but DID NOT CARE THAT THEY DID SO! The people in the booth directly behind was NOT 6 ft away, rather maybe 6-12 inches away. Did not see ANY guest wearing mask. If I had been made aware of the policy PRIOR TO BOOKING the reservation or upon arrival to the restaurant, or upon being seated, I would have decided on another restaurant . I feel certain that’s why more of an effort to explain that policy was not done. Most likely Will not be recommending any longer after years of satisfied Experiences at the West paces location. This was anything but a good experience, and extremely embarrassing in front of the guest I was celebrating AND, Who also chose this restaurant.

Long Time Atlanta Resident Giving up on Houston's

By MiltonMan007 |

As a 35 year resident and diner of the Houston's on Lenox Road, I am throwing in the towel. The super dark atmosphere was cool in the 80's but is way out of style now. However, my real complaint is the quality of the food and the small portion servings. Most recently ordered their Ahi Tuna salad. The lettuce could have fitted in a soup bowl and the tuna was so cheap that it tasted like canned tuna. Sorry Houston's BUT thanks for the memories.

A Relaxing Evening of Jazz and Food

By VMVMadison |

When dining out, we are looking for the most relaxing experience possible. There is a booth or two that offers a quieter space conducive to talking. Neither were available when we dined, but, the hostess provided another booth that was great, and we were grateful. The live jazz nightly is a big draw for us. The group is very good. The decor with the gaslights is attractive, and relaxing. The food is consistently well-prepared and flavorful. Recommend the Chicago Spinach Dip, Cheeseburger, French Dip, and Ice Cream Sundae. The Server, Melina S., was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Houston’s is one of our favorite restaurants, and consistently provides relaxing and enjoyable dining, and that is important in our lives.

Wish the Crab Cakes Were Back on the Menu

By sheila l |

Houston’s restaurants in Atlanta is consistently great for a great meal and service. Love U can make reservations thus assuring your wait won’t be long. As the restaurants stay busy. Parking is always easy and the ambiance always great as well consistently clean restrooms. Wish a restaurant was on the Southside perhaps Peachtree City or the new Trilith complex in Fayetteville???

VERY Good Food and Service with Consistency!!!

By Jim J |

Anyone who has dined at Houston's knows they have quality food and service consistently from location to location. This location is unique in that it offers live Jazz at night. Recently a friend and I had dinner and our server was Kelly C., and she was excellent!!! My friend enjoys their sushi and she quickly informed him about a new sushi dish. He ordered it and he said it was outstanding. I had a filet mignon and it was cooked to order; excellent. I believe the key to their success is their management!!! They never disappoint.

The best food

Houston's - Good Food, Great Experience Overall

By jasonparkhouse |

While a bit pricey, we really enjoyed our meal and drinks. The ribs and burger were cooked perfectly and my wife's salad was yummy. My son said it was the best burger he's had...and housed the dessert! I liked that they don't want phones to be used in the restaurant...that helps people to relate with each other and keeps the atmosphere peaceful. Thanks!

Bd celebration

By gailjohnson247 |

10 yo monthly guest asked to celebrate his bd at Houston. He always get a steak. His brother and I(cousin) always get the ribs. His mother gets a salad.

Hands Down. Best Food & Service in Atlanta!

By Warren K |

Houston’s is Fantastic! Sushi, Fish, Salads, Filet Mignon & Sides perfectly prepared. Key Lime pie!! Start with spinach dip & chips. OR, split a sushi roll like spicy tuna roll. Cheeseburgers Rock! Veggie burgers for vegans. Salmon or Trout are grilled to perfection. Filet Mignon is better than the best steak restaurants. I go ALL THE TIME! The Staff is extremely personable & takes immaculate care of all their customers. WE LOVE HOUSTON’S!!!!

Excellent Lunch Date Choice With My Son

By Kimberly812 |

Great food. Excellent service. This always been my experience. We love the Hawaiian steak and the cheeses burger. It is spot on every time.

Major price increase

By Augie |

Let me start by saying I am a long-time fan of Houston’s. However, today might have been my last visit. The Thai steak salad, which is always delicious, has skyrocketed in price. As it is my usual order I did not look at the menu, so my fault for not realizing the price had changed. But, $30 for a salad (which quite possibly was smaller and had even less steak than usual) is not worth $30. It doesn’t even include avocado anymore, so I had to pay extra to add avocado to my salad. I’m very disappointed.

A Consistent Favorite

By VMVMadison |

When dining out, my husband and I are looking for the most relaxing experience possible, and Houston’s makes that possible. One of the notable talents of Houston’s is that the Staff works as a team, and does it well. The Valets are personable and friendly. The Hostess is gracious, helpful, and seated us at our favorite booth in an area of the restaurant that is conducive for talking. The live jazz nightly is a big draw for us. The musicians are excellent. The decor with the gaslights is attractive, and relaxing. The food is consistently well-prepared and flavorful. Recommend the Coconut Shrimp Roll, Cheeseburger, French Dip, and Hot Fudge Ice Cream Sundae, the Duckhorn Paraduxx red wine, and the dry Martini (My husband described the Martini as excellent.) And, last, but not least, the Server, Renee D. was IMPRESSIVE. She excelled in her profession. She exuded warmth, friendliness, was helpful, and went the extra mile in all she did. Thank you, Renee! Houston’s is one of our favorite restaurants, and consistently provides relaxing and enjoyable dining, and that is important in our lives.

WHY? Why do you REFUSE to listen to your customers?

By Danielle D |

They STILL REFUSE to bring back the Flying Chicken Platter. They have lost out on our revenue once a week for the last 5+ years. Not kidding. We used to visit once a week and have completely stopped going. Two of our neighbors have done the same. So this is 3 tables of 4 (12 different people) Makes ZERO business sense. WHY would you rather CLOSE restaurants than bring back a menu favorite you had for decades? Have they not seen all the complaints online of people asking them to add these back to their menu? I started going to Houston's in 1991 and it was my favorite restaurant. I will never understand this. I would rather have these than filet or any other type of steak.

The iconic Houston’s is a shadow of what it once was

By Cleo M |

Loved this place for so many years. Recent staffing changes have made it go down hill. Service was once top notch, now is terrible…. Management is especially under experienced and ambivalent… restrooms broken and dirty… bartenders rude. So sad for such an iconic landmark. Valet teak outside has not changed they are awesome!!!!!!

Disappointed... again!

By Joe C |

The food is consistently good, so we want to like Houston’s. It’s a little overpriced, but they draw a crowd, so they can get away with it. That said, their customer service is also consistently is a problem. A big enough problem that I believe it’s the Mgmt culture. We live close by so it’s easy for us to go there a lot. It only takes a few visits before we have another unacceptable experience and we boycott it for 6-9 months. We aren’t the only ones as you can see by the Oct 2017 and Mar 2018 protests (google it). Gave them another shot (July ‘19) but nope - another bad experience...

Houston's post-pandemic

By ATLchick4life |

Houston's is an "institution" in my opinion...well it was pre-pandemic. I have lived in Atlanta 25 years and it was one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I would go to Houston's a couple of times a month. The Lenox location was the best (has closed), but the Peachtree location soon became a fav spot to go to. Again, pre-pandemic. They had great bartenders, managers, the chef would come out and greet me and my guests. I went last week for the first time in almost three years, for a friends birthday and what I witnessed in that restaurant was a complete train wreck! I got there and couldn't sit at the bar because there was a waitlist so they asked that I sit in the lobby. By myself. There was no one waiting to be seated at the bar. I got up and ordered a drink at the bar and noticed one of the high-top tables was available. I asked if I could sit there to wait for my guests, and again nope, Back to the lobby. My friends arrived and three spots were open at the bar...again they told me they were on the waitlist so we couldn't sit there. I finally asked to see a manager and guess what, we could then sit at the bar. The menu has changed and of course, the prices have as well. No more delicious Houston's baked potatoes. Skimpy smoked salmon appetizer and overall just a dismal experience. The sad part of all of this is that Houston's used to be one of the best. I will never write another review about this restaurant because I will never go back.

My Favorite Atlanta Restaurant

By Warren K |

I have dined at Houston’s for over 30 years in different locations. To date, I have never had a bad meal or bad service. Last night was no exception. Sunday night was packed. But, we waited it out at the tiny window tables & got a seat at the bar within 20-25 minutes. While waiting, they let us have a bottle of wine with chips & spinach dip at the tiny table. Perfect! Their spinach dip was awesome. We had a great red wine which was a blend. On to the bar, they took our remaining food & wine over for us. Servers & bartenders are so nice & friendly. I had Cajun trout with braised cabbage & broccoli. Five Stars! My dinner partner had the club salad with chicken. The band was great &all the folks sitting near us were friendly. Another great night at my favorite Atlanta restaurant!

Car broken into - Valet parking

By ParisMartel |

We thought that leaving our car with valet parking last Thursday night would be safe and under surveillance but it was not. After an excellent dinner in this attractive restaurant with excellent service, we found our car had been forcibly entered. The valet called the acting manager who disclaimed any responsibility saying that the valet parking service was a separate company, which I found an unacceptable answer. He took my contact information promising that the restaurant manager and the valet service would contact me, I have never heard back from either. A real shame, Houston’s is a favored stop when in Atlanta, but I would be reticent to leave my car here again.

Relaxing and Enjoyable

By VMVMadison |

The live music draws us to Houston's. It makes dining special and more enjoyable. The decor is attractive and Booth 43/1 is perfect for conversation. Suggest the Chicago Spinach Dip, the California Burger and the Cheeseburger. The Server, Meg R., exudes excellence in customer service She is warm, friendly, and helpful. Meg went out her way to ensure our dining experience was wonderful, and it was. Recommend Houston's for a relaxing dinner out.

HOUSTON'S is still hittin' it

By Vic S |

My wife and I have been married almost thirty years, and most of our courting took place at various Houston's around the country. We were surprised that the one on ATL still open, so we had a free night and decided to return to the scene of the crime..It was a 45 minute wait for a table and we ended up at the bar which was fine with us, and the most professional and gracious bar staff took us under their wing. We wanted for nothing drinks were spot on and never empty, we had the artic/spinach dip to start and splint (yes it's that big) a veggie burger. From top to bottom it was a lovely evening, the ladies at the front and those at the bar treated us like regulars, Houston's still on their game after all these years, hope I am.

THE DUMBEST BAR OPERATION KNOWN TO MAN!!!!

By Mitch F |

On a Tuesday evening who has a waiting list to have dinner at the bar when its not even FULL? Walked in @ 8pm to a semi full bar six(6) empty seats two females sitting on the side tables. Slide into two of the six empties at the bar. Then I'm told by the bartender "there's a waiting list"! A waiting list for what, at the bar? On a Tues??? When I asked how long the list was. She didn't know. Well hell she had the list. See such shenanigans like this make me a 25 yr patron of this restaurant run and may never return. If you must do this idiot op do it on the weekend when you have the minions coming. Not on a slow azz Tuesday!!!!.....AND I DARE YOU TO RESPOND!!!!

Changing and Not for the Better

By Joseph H |

Houston's was once my go-to comfort food restaurant. It has always been a little pricey but the food was always delicious and the portions were generous, including the martini's. I love the live jazz ensemble and the service is consistently among the best in Atlanta. However, the portions have been down-sized dramatically, while the menu prices have continued to increase dramatically. What was once a sure-fire five star experience has been downgraded to four stars. I'm guessing they gotten too corporate and are trying to squeeze out every dime at the expense of what made them so special.

Great food

By Becky V |

Went to Houston's for a special lunch yesterday and the food was excellent as usual. The service at the table was very friendly and helpful. The help in the lobby was distracted and not helpful. We had reservations in the middle of the afternoon and the restaurant was basically half full and they still made us wait 12 minutes for a table.

THE WORSE TREAT OF MY ENTIRE LIFE!

By Jorge O |

I went with my entire family to celebrate mi brother wedding and manager Audrey denied service, scream at us and kicked us out because we were a party of 9 ppl. We requested 2 separate tables to avoid problems, she denied it and kicked us out. I'm never coming back again! She was disrespectful, mean and even racist, a black couple was complaining about the same thing when we were waiting for our car! After that unfortunate problems we head to CHAMA-GAUCHA and spend a 1200 tab that Houston's missed!

The Absolute Worse

By Brionna H |

Too many rules and regulations just to sit down with your family and have a decent meal. They asked 6 people to leave while I waited for my table because they either wasn't dressed according to Houton's guidelines mind you its 100 degress in ATLANTA and they want you to not have any skin showing.

Beautiful restaurant, great food and service

By Becky V |

We ate at Houston's last week for a weekday lunch celebration. Just the two of us. The restaurant was very warm and inviting. The food was great (Hawaiian ribeye for him, Salmon for me). Wonderful food. Service was outstanding.

Happy at Houstons

By TiciaTravels |

Houstons is one of my favorite dining places in Atlanta. We usually venture out here once or twice a year for a special occasion. Food: Great! Over the years, I've tried their steak, herb chicken, smoked salmon and crab cakes. The meals were never a let down, and portion sizes are great. Atmosphere: The evening ambiance is lovely. Dimmed lighting with candles and a jazz band. Parking: The lot is almost always full, but valet is available if you choose. Service: Warm and friendly hostess and waitstaff. The restaurant is always busy on weekends. Be sure to arrive early or try to make a reservation.

The cheese Bread 🙌🏽

By Candice J |

My family and I had dinner there and it was phenomenal. The open kitchen is beautiful and fun to watch as you wait for your table. The sitting was comfortable and the lighting was relaxing. My Hawaiian ribeye was amazing and the salad with the hot butter sauce was incredible. I could not stop eating the cheese bread... I am pretty sure I’ll have day dreams about that bread! Service was on point and the valet made us feel like celebs! Great night and wonderful umami food!

Great food and service

By DrJohnATL |

The restaurant consistently delivers and this time was no different. The service is matched by excellent and well prepared food. I highly recommend this location to anybody looking for a great meal with amazing service!

Love this place...service sets the standard.

By Dadsgto |

Long time Atlanta resident lives outside the city. This is my “go to” restaurant. We like to try the new places, but you cannot beat the consistency of food and service. Great ambiance in the restaurant, and like to watch the grill doing its thing. Highly recommend.

Best restaurants in all of ATL

Our server Cory was excellent & attended to all or needs w/ a smile. I had the ribs with beans & rice. It was amazing. Will be back

Shrinkflation has hit Houston's

By MiltonMan007 |

As a 40 year resident of Atlanta, I have dined at multiple Houston locations but knocked them off my list several years ago. However, being open minded we dined again at the Northside Drive location. The super dark atmosphere, a throwback to their earlier years, is still there. While delicious, the food portions have SHRUNK even more from my last visit in 2018. I could have held my salad entree in the cup of my hand and I could count the meat portions on the other hand. However, customers must not mind as it is still very crowded.

A special treat

By susan b |

I recommended Houston's to a co worker who was entertaining a friend from out of town for dinner. He told me it was exactly as I had described and he was so pleased with the food and the atmosphere. He raved about the professional staff and thoroughly enjoyed the live jazz. He said he could not wait to go back.

Worth the Wait

By MemphisZ |

Houston’s is always jam packed. So we chose to go to the bar rather than wait 1:30 hours for the dining room. The bar too was packed so we got on it’s wait list (30 minutes for a bar seat) and ordered some drinks and smoked salmon while we waited. First, the food. The smoked salmon appetizer is OUTSTANDING. My date enjoyed the dip with it, but it is so rightly smoked that I could eat it straight up. When we did get seated at the bar, I had prime rib (bone in) medium rare. It was prepared perfectly. Some Houston’s don’t do bone- in prime rib. I was very glad this one does! And the baked potato was perfect. Meanwhile my date had the yellow tail sashimi with kale salad and it too was perfect. Great balance of flavors. The apple walnut cobbler was very good. Next, the service at this Houston’s is great. The bartender could remember all the people hustling for a seat, a drink, or something else. They got the appetizer out in a flash. The dinner was quick. Sitting at the bar, I was amazed how the bartender could keep everything going and get everything right. Definitely a pro! Love Houston’s and if in the ‘hood, go by!

Disappointed by inconsistent and discriminatory treatment

By Julia M |

I recently moved to the area near Houston’s and was excited about the prospect of becoming a regular, but my experiences have left me feeling both disappointed and uncomfortable. Visit 1: Saturday, August 3rd During my first visit, I joined the waitlist at the bar and took a seat at one of the small tables behind the bar while waiting. I was quietly scrolling through my phone when the general manager approached me and informed me that my phone needed to be on silent. This struck me as odd because the restaurant was full, and the bar area was quite loud. I noticed two gentlemen nearby laughing loudly, yet it was my phone that was singled out—despite it being barely audible. What made the situation more uncomfortable was that I seemed to be the only one asked to lower the volume on my phone, despite others around me having their phones at higher volumes. As a young Black woman, I couldn’t help but feel singled out in a room where everyone else seemed to be treated differently. The general manager then pointed me to the other side of the bar and said that if I wanted to have a drink, I could sit over there. However, I wasn’t there for a drink; I was simply waiting for a table, which I explained to him. The entire encounter left me feeling unwelcome. As I continued to wait, I overheard the bartender mentioning that they have police on-site to prevent the crowd from the nearby club from coming over and that they close early for the same reason. This comment made me feel even more uncomfortable, as it suggested that certain patrons, like myself, might be treated with suspicion or unwelcomeness simply based on appearance. Visit 2: Friday, August 9th I returned the following Friday, hoping for a better experience. The bar was packed, and the atmosphere was much rowdier than during my first visit. Interestingly, this time no one seemed concerned about the noise level or the behavior of the crowd. The rules about where you can order food, which items on the menu were available, and the volume level of phones all seemed arbitrary, depending on who you were. It’s disappointing that a restaurant like Houston’s, which I’ve always thought of as an upscale dining experience, has such inconsistent and discriminatory treatment. Final Visit Lastly, on another occasion, I called to place a to-go order and was told I had to come in and place the order in person. When I arrived, I was informed that they don’t do to-go orders unless you’re seated at a table. However, on my previous visits, I saw to-go orders being given out without this requirement. I even have a screenshot to confirm that someone else received a to-go order while standing in the cocktail area, not seated at a table. Even though the menu isn’t extensive, with items like cheeseburgers, the experience of eating here feels more like being in an exclusive club with strict, arbitrary rules. It seems that to enjoy a meal here, you need to dress up nicely, have a reservation, avoid using your phone, and make sure you don’t accidentally sit in the wrong part of the bar. I expected more from Houston’s, and I hope management takes a closer look at how they treat all their guests, regardless of their appearance.

Delicious

By Stephanie L |

This restaurant is amazing. There was a live jazz band that played but it still kept the mood soft. The dark lighting and the delicious wine went great with the tender filet. I will definitely be returning to this wonderful establishment!

Wonderful food and service!

By Yancey89 |

We have eaten at Houston’s several times but this was the first at this location. Typically we walk right in but here we had a 45 minute wait. It was to be expected at 6pm on a Friday night though. We were seated exactly at our wait time and had prompt service. The food was amazing! I recommend the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer and both the filet and the Hawaiian steaks. The live music was a nice touch. The atmosphere is a little loud but the set up of the restaurant still makes it feel private and relaxing. Highly recommend!
