Everything Great

By Suz1884 |

Amazing service and wonderful, tasty food. We went to Wang's with 5 adults and 1.5 year old. They were very patient with our slow ordering and several special needs. The Hot & Spicy soup was amazing. In fact, all the dishes were just so good, hard to just pick one favorite. A must go restaurant.

Close in mid-PM

Restaurant closes between 2 & 4 pm M-F. Was hoping to enjoin a late lunch. But incomplete information meant I made a useless trip.

Great place for lunch

By planejla |

This is a great lunch spot. The people are friendly and provide great service. The food is yummy and really can't go wrong with whatever you order. The restaurant is in a shopping center so the parking can be a challenge. I prefer to park in the back of the restaurant and they have a convenient entrance. There is construction on the road exiting the center. Best to go around and exit on midway.

Wow!

My Favorite Chinese Restaurant

By KB_222014 |

I typically don't like Chinese food, but my wife used to get a take-out meal from here. She always encouraged me to try it, but it took me several years to finally get the courage to try this place. I am certainly glad I did. We have been eating here for a long time now, even after we moved several miles away. It's definitely worth the trip. I order the ginger salmon every chance I can get. The flavor is incredible. It's topped with some lemongrass and a very tasty red ginger sauce - I'm not even sure how it's made, but it is excellent. If you don't like the fish, try the pepper steak or the Hunan chicken. One thing that really stands out in my mind about this place is that the vegetables are very, very fresh, and never over-cooked, as is common at many Chinese restaurants. Like a previous reviewer, I can't say enough good about Howard Wang's. I won't eat at any other Chinese restaurant because HW has spoiled me.

Solo mid afternoon lunch

By Dennis F |

On a strong recommendation, I came here out of my way to DFW to catch a return flight home. Good decision to follow a good recommendation. Vegetable dumplings, pan seared, and spring rolls hut the spot. Fresh fresh fresh. The Sichuan stir fry with veggies and tofu was plenty spicy and very fresh.

All Food is made from SCRATCH Daily!

Excellent!! Everything is made from scratch daily & it is by far the best Chinese food we have had and we have traveled from coast to coast. Service was outstanding.

Consistently good food

Solid fresh Chinese food

By Cali-Native2015 |

I came here wi business associates for lunch. I was skeptical, since I haven't had great Chinese food outside of big cities like Chicago and San Francisco. I was pleasantly surprised. The service was friendly, fast and good. The food had fresh ingredients and not overly breaded or sauced. I would return if I come back to the area. We all went for their lunch. Specials. They offer a bunch of different sauce preparations. You can choose more than one type of meat. I had the black bean sauce with chicken and added broccoli. You have a choice of brown, white or fried rice. I opted for the brown. The portions were generous. My associates had Mongolian chicken and prawns, which looked fresh and appetizing and my other associate had chicken in orange peel sauce. She liked hers as well

Awesome!

Great atmosphere and delicious food! The service is aceptional and everyone seems to love working here. I have had several different dishes and all have been delicious.

Great food but a small disappointment

By Rob H |

Had an excellent lunch here today with business colleagues. The food was really good and were generous portions. The only disappointment (and not rating a 5 star) is that the dinner plate was not clean and the drinkware had dried up citrus peal. These should be easy things to fix so I will go back again.

Great food

The food here is very delicious and very authentic. The service staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food takes a little time to come out but that’s the price of freshness. It’s a wonderful place. Ask for Lee Ann. She is wonderful.

Nice place for lunch or dinner!

Fast service! Wonton is delicious. Prices are fair and there's a full drink bar. Nice romantic atmosphere.

Is this place some sort of secret?

With the quality of food they serve, should be packed on a Friday night, but it wasn't. I was introduced to Wang's just last week for lunch, and was impressed with the quality, taste and the freshness of ingredients. I told my wife about it, so we went for dinner and were raving about it when we got up this morning. Delicious pot stickers for an appetizer. I could make a meal out of those things. Six for $7. My wife had lived in NYC for a number of years but had difficulty finding a Dallas equal to the Hunnan Chicken she was used to in NY. Well, Howard had it, and she said it was as good as any she enjoyed in Chinatown. $13-14? Cheaper at lunch. I splurged a little and got a dish called "Wang's Splendor". I'm not accustomed to paying $24 for a Chinese main dish, but this was definitely worth every penny. Beef tenderloin, chicken, BBQ pork, shrimp, and scallop, with vegetables tossed in mandarin style brown sauce. The beef wasn't some tough cheap cut disguised with sauce, it was "as tender as Daddy's heart", as my father used to say. There was more food than two our age usually eat, and we were planning on taking some home, but it was so good, we gobbled up everything.

Loved the soft shell crab

Excellent authentic Chines restaurant, great range of dishes well presented and cooked. Attentive, professional service.

Great lunch spot

The service is always outstanding and so is the food. All the dishes are yummy and I recommend the honey sesame chicken. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere and offers great lunch specials.

Good choice for upscale Chinese food

By TexasTerry317 |

I had passed by this restaurant many times, but finally decided to try it when I had an itch for Chinese food. Glad I did. I was there for lunch, and ordered the sweet and sour chicken, which came with choice of soup, spring roll and fried wonton noodles (served with dipping sauces). My wonton soup was definitely homemade, and excellent. Wish I had taken some of the fried wonton noodles home with me, they were so good! Sweet and sour chicken was well prepared and a bountiful serving size. Took some home and had for dinner! Would definitely recommend, and I will be coming back!!

And a good time was had by all!

Four friends gathered at Wangs to enjoy Chinese food, family style. We started off with the Thai Basil Spring Rolls with Shrimp served with a tasty peanut sauce. For a hot summer night, the restaurant was airy and cool. We moved onto the spicy garlic chicken, orange peel beef, steamed Chilean sea bass with bok chow and rice (brown and fried). The entrees were generous in portion, perfectly cooked and delicious. We have had takeout from Wang’s but this was our first dine in experience. Our service was excellent and it really added to the experience. Next time I’m in the mood for Chinese, rather than get takeout I’ll be dining in at Wangs!

We made a Big Mistake. Ordered appetizers ..which were rather bland .and two meals of Ahi Tuna.. Both Tuna pieces seem to be the end cut.. Extremely Dry and Tough.. Vegetables served seem to come from the frozen food section..of the super market nearby There was no seasoning at all... We had Brown Rice..which was tasteless . ..The appearance was if they opened a frozen dinner and placed it in front of us.. Our HOT Tea had a nice flavor but both times served barely warm ... Need I say More...Only Blessing was we had a coupon.... Overall it was a disaster ...

Best Chinese Food

By Jeff P |

Chinese Food can be tricky, and it's sometimes hard to find someone who does it right. Howard Wang's is one of those places. The food is very fresh, and each dish that i've ordered here never disappoints. You leave full, and you never regret coming. Check them out!

Try the watermelon martini!

By DianeFromDallas |

I frequently visit Howard Wang's and it's one of my favorite local restaurants. It's great to sit at the bar when I am solo or sit a table with friends and family. The staff is super friendly! The vegetables are always fresh and I've never had anything I didn't like. Some of my favorites include the vanilla prawns, moo shu pork, beef with broccoli, spring rolls, and the Thai Basil rolls. Try the watermelon martini!

A great Neighborhood Chinese Spot

By O N |

We have been going to Royal China up on Royal @ Preston but had lousy service and a poor meal the last time so we decided to drive a bit further south to Howard Wang's @ Midway @ NW Hwy................and boy were we pleasantly surprised. Our food arrived quickly.............wine by the glass is reasonable, and our entrees were fabulous. Our server was attentive without being a bother.............the entire evening a huge success. Out goes Royal China; In goes Howard Wangs!!

Great Lunch

My wife and I made our first visit to Wang's a weekday lunch and enjoyed very well prepared meals. We took advantage of their lunch specials and were not disappointed. Highly recommend and we will return.

Great Dinner

Five Star food and service every time. The food here is outstanding. Made to order, fresh, hot, and Deeee-licious!!!! You can tell that the food is quality because it takes some time for you to get your food. I'm a chef, so I'm willing to wait because I know it's going to be good. I will be back as always.

Best Chinese food in Dallas

Sizzling tenderloins are fantastic and also try the Lychee martini for something a little different.

NIce small place - good food

By czmdivenut |

Tsing tao beer, hot and sour soup, spring roll, kung pao shrimp, shanghai prawns - all very good. Menu says spicy but you may want to ask for extra spicy since it is not spicy much at all.

Not the same.

By bwannan |

We went back to Howard Wang's based on previous experiences that were good. Boy, were we totally disappointed! We have no idea how it go from good to not good at all, service excepted. Crispy noodles were brought for the soups we ordered, one wonton and one corn and crab. The latter was ok but the wonton was watery. Worse still, the crispy noodles were ice cold and tasted greasy. We asked for new ones. The waiter brought two ice cold plates and the two entres. My wife ordered sweet & sour chicken with, you guessed it, cold sauce. She added it had a strange flavor. Mine was crispy spicy beef & broccoli. You won't believe this, my first bite of the broccoli was cold. As I got into the fish, the rest was warm but the beef was nowhere as good as we remembered from previous visits. Unfortunately, this old favorite is now removed from our list and we won't be returning any time soon. I can never understand how a place can change so much. To bad 😢

Nice

By monica_k840 |

I've eaten at the uptown location. This restaurant is quiet, elegantly casual. I love, love, love the wide rice noodles of the beef chow fun. My daughter ordered the general to chicken. This was the first time that I ever had such a lightly prepared general tso. The taste was a little reminiscent of peking duck (a favorite of mine.) This evening, both dishes were incredibly salty. Besides that. It was still very good.

A great meal

By nickinhull |

Me my partner and a friend went to this restaurant recently. We were shown to a table the menu is varied all the food was well prepared and cooked and tasted great. Reasonably priced to.

$62 takeout = $2 worth of Rice/$2 worth of vegetables/$1 worth of chicken/$1 egg drop soup & soy sauce

By dtx75220 |

Coming here for well over 20 yrs. Excellent quality food, nice clean modern, slick cozy interior space. Small bar. Proud of their Preston Hollow prices, in an expensive busy strip shopping center. Gets busy and loud at lunch and dinner. Portions have gotten smaller over the years. No longer get takeout here, not worth the expense. Many other reasonable choices close by in Preston Center.

Don't go. Tons of MSG!

By Climber259978 |

The worst American style chinese food. Half of the plates were artificial and disgusting sauce. The ribs were dry, burnt to black, of course covered with the gooey sauce. Not sure how a restaurant with such an irresponsibly low quality could exist in dallas.

Nice Place

I visited this place with friends. They have good drinks. I had the Mai Tai, and it was decent. the food was great! I will return.

Best Chinese food I've ever had.

By Big Country |

I cannot say enough about this restaurant. I ate here a few years ago & I've been coming back for more ever since. The generals chicken is the best I've ever had. It's the dark meat they use that just makes it perfect. I love how they give you fried wong tongs as an appetizer for free on the table before your food comes. I really enjoyed their chicken and vegetables too. Very friendly staff. Great place to bring the kiddos too.
