Very good dinner expierence

By Dham5254 |

Went for the first time on a busy Friday night. Ordered drinks and appetizers. Service was attentive and good. The wine selection was okay and the wine we ordered was real good. Buddy got a mixed cocktail that he said was great. For food, we ordered fries, nachos and egg roll. All were really good. The atmosphere was fun, everyone in there seemed to be having a good time. Will go again for sure.

Great food, amazing atmosphere, and nice staff!

Can't wait to go back, this restaurant was a highlight of my Atlanta trip. Well worth driving out of the way, hidden gem!

Solid Bar Experience

Had lunch here during a break. Egg rolls phenomenal. The service during the day is amazing. Really enjoyed Marco taking care of us as we had work meetings from the bar and enjoyed the afternoon. I'll be back in July!

Good variety, pleasant service, fun outdoor area

By Adam L |

Lots of variety in the menu. Standouts from our order were (somewhat surprisingly) the pizza. Great crust. Plenty of room to eat outside and that seems to be a very popular option. Service was knowledgeable and efficient. Feels like a neighborhood spot but they make you feel like part of the neighborhood even if you aren't.

Pretty good!

Beautiful space! We sat outside. Our server was great. Food was average, nothing to complain or rave about. Bathroom was clean but some of the lights were out. Limited parking but there is an over flow lot nearby.

Good but not quite good enough

I so desperately wanted this place to be a home run. We need a great restaurant in the area. Overall, I found it average especially for the price point. Couple of things: the hostess stand is in a very odd spot. It’s beyond the bar area behind a set of tables. It’s not intuitive. We got seated at a 4 top right near the bathroom. Very odd spot for the table. Sadly you could smell the sanitizer from the bathroom where we sat. We actually asked to move because it was not very appetizing. The ambiance otherwise is nice. It’s rustic chic. The restaurant is a good bit larger than it appears from the street. I just wish the menu matched the coolness of the space. They advertise the food as American with a twist. I didn’t see much twist. I had the brisket steak and cheese. It was good but nothing overly spectacular. It has a homemade white cheese sauce. The odd thing was the rather larger peppercorns sprinkled on top. Fries were crispy and good. My husband had a hamburger. It again was good but not great. Nothing special. He ordered it medium and it came out well done. Flavor was good though. On the side of the restaurant there is a grassy area. There were some children playing (with their dad) and the manager came and said “be careful, this isn’t a playground.” In buckhead that type of comment likely won’t work. Not sure what the grassy area is for but it seems to be begging for corn hole. I personally thought it was a great place to play rather than running around the restaurant. To wrap up, might be worth a try but it has a lot of competition for the price point. For the money, I would choose Houston’s.

Great Lunch

By toyman111 |

My wife and I went to Howells for lunch and had a good meal. I had the hamburger /fries and my wife had a fried chicken sandwich/fries.My burger was cooked the way I like (medium) and my wife's chicken was very tasty. The decor of Howells is very modern and upscale. Service was friendly and professional. Suggest you give them a try.

Terrible Food and Service

By Scott P |

The place was packed on a Thursday and they were certainly understaffed. Still, for a pricey restaurant that is trying to make its mark on a crowded Atlanta market, they need to do better. First of all, my meal was barely edible. I ordered the ribs, and while the sauce as tasty, the ribs were tough and chewy. The fries were cold, soggy, undercooked, and over salted. I’m not even sure they were fried. As far as the service, we could hardly get our waiter to visit our table. I ordered a second drink, and it never came. In fact, our waiter never even brought us our bill. We had to have the hostess bring it to us. I grew up in Atlanta, and I can say that this is one of the two or three most disappointing dining experiences I’ve endured in the city. I’ve had better meals at fast food drive-throughs.

Great food, good service -- just a tad loud overall!

By Stephanie D |

My friends and I had dinner here last night and it was very good. The service was excellent and we were seated immediately. The menu has quite a few very nice options and I chose the salmon and shrimpy - which was cooked perfectly and totally yummy. one of m friends had a pizza and the other had a grain bowl. We all enjoyed our entrees immensely. Cocktails were excellent and I loved the fact that we were not rushed through our meal. The only reason I only gave 4 stars was because it was quite loud and hard to hear, but otherwise a wonderful evening.

Great New Restaurant

By jenb33 |

Drove by and saw a now open sign and looked like a cool place so suggested a friend meet me for dinner and drinks. Food was great. We got the cheese sticks for an appetizer and they were really good. I had a pizza for dinner and it was also very good and prices were moderately priced. Nice outdoor seating so can’t wait for nice weather to go back and sit outside.

Great space & food

By Andrew |

Great space & good food. The wait staff is friendly fairly fast in getting us our food. We ordered some cocktails and were unable to drink them because they were too sweet and the quality of a college bar. I hope they find a mixologist to make quality cocktails, but worth going for the food!

Great outside area

By tleeEvans |

Enjoyed the meal and atmosphere at this restaurant Food is very good, has a great outside sitting area. Service was fair.

Great place for cocktails and dinner

You will love the outdoor sitting. The food and the drinks are first class. The service is exceptional. I will be back.

Bar...Hit or Miss

By WestSideFoods |

Cool place, but always leaving wanting much more than the management or staff is willing to give. I wish this place was so much better.

1 of our new go-to places

By Banana Bob |

Howells Kitchen is a great addition to the Howell Mill/I-75 area. Great service and 1 of the very best gluten free pizzas in the area (we've tried them all). Drink and beer menus excellent also. The servers are well trained and friendly. If ITPers are meeting OTPers, the restaurant is located strategically halfway between. Patio is very inviting also. We will be regulars.

GREAT

By Coastal162372 |

I ordered the tarven burger comes with everything medium well and it was perfect the fries are regular cut but was hot as well. I also ordered the cheese sticks nice seasoning with 6 comes also good . Great atmosphere

Great location.. Decor and Food

By Flyeguy |

Stopped in to try this fairly new restaurant. Location is very good.. Close to Collier road area... I-75, and Buckhead area. Layout of restaurant is modern and very comfortable. Bar is well stocked. Staff is amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Food was good and well priced. Portions were large and could be easily shared. We ordered the fish and chips, but found the batter on fish was far too thick and "bread" like for our taste, but the meal was good. Turkey club was amazing. This is a fun restaurant for a meal or just a drink.

Early on

By Plaztik |

I have been to this place twice. The first time it was very meh. We retuned for their first Sunday brunch a weekend or so ago. They have definitely stepped up their game. The service that was good beofre was equal this time, however the food was much better. I had the breakfast pizza. Tasty. Could have used a little more cheese and perhaps a choice or two of toppings. One I felt major omission was the lack of grits as a side item. I mean we are in the South! My family were all thumbs up as well. It is definately worth a try.

Perfect Hangout

By Ready2Go2Day |

Delicious food and drinks with great variety. Excellent service from greeting to dessert. Cozy atmosphere with ample space to relax and enjoy time with friends.

It's about time!

By Iluvthe44thpresident |

Finally a place in Atlanta with good food! Usually the food in this city is mediocre, but the food I tried was very flavorful. I had the the smoked salmon dip, nachos, brussel sprouts, and the kobe beef spring rolls. Everything was good. The waiter was on point too. I was debating on whether to deduct a point for the poor attitude of the hostess, but I won't be petty. Oh yeah...the prices are very reasonable as well.

AWESOME RESTAURANT

By DIMITRI G |

Ryan(waiter) was AWESOME. He gave great recommendations. My food was delicious and I will definitely return.

Nice Lunch

By Melissa |

Stopped in for lunch I'm pleased to say that the restaurant did not disappoint. I was with a few co-workers and we were seated right away. The atmosphere is very modern and the restaurant itself is a great space - very open, lots of windows with nice natural light and in the spring summer it looks like they have a great outside space as well. The service was great and our meals were all really good too. If you're in the West Midtown area, you should definitely check it out. And there is lots of free, easy parking too!

Third time not a charm

By TravelLover629 |

This is my third poor experience here. Hoping things would be better but they are not. If you want a pizza or a drink you are fine, but steer clear of entrees. It appears you are buying pre processed dishes with sauces are added on site. The ribs are fatty and simply covered with a sauce. The shrimp and scallops have hard, tasteless bits that are supposed to be bay scallops. I could go on but I think you get the idea. Service is not great either. Our waitress was more interested in building up a drink bill than serving our meals. Our dinners sat under heating lamps for over fifteen minutes before they were served. There are so many wonderful restaurants in Atlanta I will be amazed if this one survives

I liked their Menu choices.

By StockholmKindaGuy |

The recently opened Howell's Kitchen and Bar has a contemporary interior, that's both casual and warm, with plenty of room for diners. Outdoor seating is also available. Their menu offers a nice variety of dishes that include salads, sandwiches, pizza and mains. Most of the items were pretty standard fare. Meat, seafood and vegetarian items were all available. As a group of three we tried the Brussels Sprouts as an appetizer. While they were nice and crispy, all of us felt they weren't tender enough. I ordered an Heirloom pizza, which turned out to be more of a flat bread style pizza. I enjoyed everything about it except the dough that was used. Service was friendly, but could have been more attentive. I'll chalk that up to being new. Lunch prices were a bit to high for my taste. While the menu and prices could use some tweaking, it's a good addition to the area.

One of the Best Go-To places on the West Side

By Grant K |

This is one of my fav go-to places in Atlanta. The Vibe and Atmosphere are great. The food is consistently good. The service is phenomenal - be sure to ask for D or TJ and Katie at the bar. Manager Tara is super friendly too! They have a GREAT patio with 2 fire pits and corn hole. Don't forget about the amazing brunch. My only suggestion for improvement would be to mix up the menu more frequently

Great Addition to our neighborhood!

By ArchLiz |

I was really excited last year to see a kitchen and bar coming to our side of town. The Westside needed more casual dining places and this place has met all my expectations and more. They have a great menu, service, and diversity of prices on food and drinks. The fire pit area outside is great for hanging out with friends on summer and cool nights!

Nice place with great food!!

Pizza and Cocktails were very good. The bartender was so friendly. Great vibe we would definitely return when in the area.

Perfect late night place

By Maria G |

My daughter and I arrived at 10 PM on Saturday night and had a fantastic meal and great service. Her burger was cooked medium rare as per her request. It was perfect! The french fries that accompanied it were delicious. The wine list has good Chardonnays on it. I enjoyed the three meat pizza. Our waiter was very charming.

Terrible & overly expensive visit!!

By Vivian B G |

I have visited this restaurant at least 6 times this year.I was last there in October 2024,celebrating my birthday.I was there about 3 hours with friends/ family. I revisited again on Dec.1,2024. My car was booted because apparently the businesses have implemented new parking rules of 2 hours...unbeknownst to me. It was family time again with our grans. I was there about 15-20 minutes. The server comes over and ask which car outside was mine. She informed me that it had been booted( $75.00 fee). She then asked if I had been validated. OMG!The person who booted my car allowed the next table to go back in restaurant & get validation! The sign that I would have seen was broken & hanging upside down.!AFTER booting my car,he in turn turned the sign right side up & accompanied me back inside restaurant to get validation! I feel that the restaurants should let patrons know upon entering their establisment verbally or posting a notation. PARKING IS ALREADY VERY LIMITED & BEYOND TERRIBLE !I will not be patronizing again.

Quality, Choice, Price

By JLDCA |

Two for lunch $35, no liquor but an awesome fried chicken sandwich and a French dip. Both excellent. Fast service, a lot of tables, very clean and a varied menu. Good for many types of occasions. We were surprised at the number of different fish, chicken and steak dishes.

Good food, good service! Highly recommended!

Nice bar/restaurant with good food & good service. The bar area was not stuffy or crammed. Well appointed with plenty of seating. The dining room was open & they also have great outdoor seating. Food was very good. I had the Tavern burger with bacon. I have had A LOT of burgers & this was a Top 10. Good bun, fresh toppings. My friend had the ‘Beam Me Up Scotty’ pizza & he loved it. Perfect sized for one, the crust was thin but not overly crispy. Carl at the bar was super nice, professional & knowledgeable about the menu. Good drink selection with NA beer offerings. NAs are becoming more & more popular so this was a nice surprise. I definitely recommend Howell’s & will definitely go back.

Up and coming hangout in an up and coming neighborhood

By AndrewW3 |

The area around Howell Mill has changed significantly in the last several years. What was once primarily office and industrial is now converting into a hip residential area with great food, microbreweries and shops. Howell's is one of these newer "go to" spots. In a building with an old warehouse feel, the interior sports retro industrial lighting, the large rectangle glass pane and steel windows and wood floors. You are welcomed immediately by a big open bar with great concoctions (the mules are very good) and several local brews on draft or in the can/bottle. The owner greeted us and we had a great young server, TJ, take care of us for the evening. There wasn't a moment where TJ or the other staff weren't stopping by to check on us. The food itself was wonderful. Avocado toast is fantastic as were the Buffalo Wings. Of the entrees we ordered, I think the salmon was probably the best. For dessert...I would go there over and over again for the bread pudding alone. This is definitely a must try in an area with a lot of good new restaurants. And ask for TJ if he's there. He's very funny and fun....and always has a joke for every guest! Next time I need to get the Tuesday special of a pizza and a bottle of house wine for $20.

Average food and experience

By luv4phood |

We ate dinner on the patio recently. Everything was fine but nothing was outstanding. The Pho Egg Rolls were the best thing that we tried. Nice combo of meat and veggie with a sweet chili sauce. The fish and chips are more batter than fish. The seating was very tight on the patio with fans that were set too high.

Good food and service

By Diane G |

We had a very enjoyable dinner here. Great service and the waiter was very personable! The dishes we ordered were cooked very well and were very good! I enjoyed the mixed drinks on their menu as well. The Brussels sprouts were amazing!! The skillet roasted chicken had a lot of flavor and was very tender! All in all a great meal at a good location!

Good Food...Friendly Service

By toyman111 |

Its been about 10 months since my last visit, and Howell's continues to be very good. For dinner, we had the smoked salmon appetizer and Korean egg rolls. Our main course was fish and chips, and a large dinner salad. The salmon and egg rolls were excellent as well as the main courses. Service was professional and friendly.

Outstanding Buttermilk Fried Chicken

By Rebecca L |

This restaurant opened about 6 months ago. We went around 6:30 on a Friday evening and there were many families dining with small kids. By the time we left, it was of a more hip, adult atmosphere. The food was very good - especially the fried chicken sandwich. Portions are large and reasonably priced. The avocado bruschetta was also excellent. Good draft beer selection and outdoor seating area. Reservations only accepted for groups of 8 or larger. Valet parking is $2 not including tip and self parking is available next door.

Just perfect.

This restaurant is quickly becoming one of our favorites. They have a nice selection of sandwiches, dinners and fantastic personal pizzas. The service is always on point friendly and they have a lovely outside seating area. Two of our guest tried the personal pizzas and they were amazing. I had the grilled watermelon salad, which was excellent. Another one of our guests had a sandwich and it was superlative. The prices are very reasonable and you get a good amount of food. This coupled with friendly on point service makes us one of our new favorite spots to dine in Atlanta!
