Hsu's is a MUST EAT!

By Poolely |

Went here because the reviews said it was amazing. The reviews were RIGHT. We got Calamari, Steamed Dumplings and Spring rolls for appetizers. All of them were excellent. My daughter couldn't stop raving about the dumplings. The Calamari was fresh and not rubbery at all. Onto the mail course... I ordered General Tsu's Chicken and it was really the best I've had. It was crispy and not overly breaded. Sauce was light but flavorful. Other dishes ordered were Walnut Shrimp, Salmon, Salt and Pepper shrimp, Combination Fried rice and Curry Chicken. All the dishes were loved except The Curry was too spicy. People that ordered drinks said they tasted watered down. My complaint is the menu is very hard to read. My win, they validated parking... plus the great food. Also our server was super nice. PRO TIP: Pay attention to the bill. There was a "Service Charge" on the bill to get you to tip twice. Once for the SC and then a line for the Tip.

OK Chinese/Asian Food

By yellowpixels |

This is another Atlanta restaurant in need of a refresh. Some people may like the "tired old restaurant" look - if you do then this is your place. Food was reasonably good but I forgot to ask if they use MSG ( I suspect the answer is yes....) Portions were large. Menu had hints of other Asian than Chinese - like a bento box. This place was busy and looked like it is always busy. Better than most Chinese and definitely not a "hole in the wall".

Nice Dinner. Interesting Mix

By Michael C |

The food was fine. The place was jammed and considering that, the service was great. Good did not take long to come. The waiter got the order right, the kitchen messed up, and the waiter caught the mistake before the food got to the table and got it fixed—quickly. House wine was meh, no draft beer at all, the food a strange mix of Hong Kong/Cantonese and northern Chinese with a few American things you wouldn’t expect to see at a good Chinese place. That said— our food was very good. Walnuts with shrimp, and green beans with chicken. Which reminds me— the Chinese characters did not always match the English names. A little weird. If there’s the least chance it will be busy (say, on a Friday evening,) make a reservation. We avoided what would have been at least a 30-40 minute wait. A lot of effort at nice presentation. Really, all in all, very satisfactory.

Know I know Who’s Hsus!

By RobbieTSC |

Had been to a business reception earlier, with little to no real food offerings. In travels back to my hotel, my trusted reviewers of Trip Advisor helped me find a place! A welcoming reception as I walked in, smiles and no wait time! Really cool considering I did not have a reservation! Seated immediately, at a white clothed eloquent table, with a cool silver utensils holder (picture) I felt like the whose who, as my servers were attentive, and sincerely friendly! The fried tofu over spinach was an obvious standout! Delum (a mash-up word of delicious and yummy). The side bowl of sticky rice was the perfect addition, and helped me savory all the hot-sour sauce! That’s all I needed on this visit...with the depth of the menu I’ll have to be back...and with the experience I know Who’s Hsus!

Great place for a nice sit-down dinner

By Atlanta Visitor |

I don’t normally leave reviews, but I was very impressed with Hsu’s. The staff and management went above and beyond, from the service, to the freshness and quality of the food. Everything we ordered seemed to have a little something special in preparation, ingredients, or portion size that exceeded our expectations. For the downtown location, I would say the prices are reasonable and you are getting a good value. There are also different priced menu options depending on what you’re in the position to spend.

Excellent Chinese

By djbls |

I highly recommend making a reservation. This place seemed to be consistently busy. For a Chinese place, they had a great wine list. The menu is huge. I really wanted Mongolian Beef which wasn't on the menu, but they made it for me. It was delicious. My friend had the Avocado shrimp which she said was terrific. The best part of the meal was the chocolate dipped fortune cookies! The wait staff was outstanding and everyone was so nice. I would definitely come back here in a heartbeat!

Good Chinese cuisine next to the Peachtree Hub in downtown

By tlc248 |

Great lunches and a better dinner menu within walking distance to the hotels, and the parking deck is right there. Not open for lunch on Saturday and Sundays. Cozy décor and attentive service. Steamed red snapper with ginger and scallion served for $30.

Amazing

By sophia adamson |

Best Chinese food in the United States!!! The walnut shrimp and the general Tsu and the lomein are far the best dishes! The owners are always there so there are never issues with service and product!!!! Tons of tables but you must reserve if downtown is busy!

Good sushi lunch

By amy |

Good sushi lunch. The place is big. Calamari is excellent. Has Thai food, to sure if it’s Chinese restaurant. My friend ordered noodle and lamb, not sure if that look very appealing.

Delicious and great Ambiance

By Yoki S |

I work in the downtown area and normally bring my lunch, however, one day I did not bring lunch and was in the mood for Chinese food so Googled Chinese foods in the area and found this amazing place; I ordered and went to pick it up and the place looked amazing and was packed which is always a great sign; the website really doesn't do justice comparing on how the place looks in person when you go in. While waiting, I noticed a memorabilia wall which shows all the celebrities who have been there including Magic Johnson, Paul Walker, Ben AFleck, Kirsten Dunst, etc. I ordered a dish called shrimp with avocado and OMG, it was absolutely DELICIOUS. I was so pleased that I ordered in a second time around on the same week. Highly recommended!!!!

NOT SURE I ATE CHINESE FOOD

By Walter D |

Went with group of five and the service was excellent. However, the food did not look or taste like Chinese food. having been married to a woman from Shanghai with parents in the restaurant business, I found the food to be of poor quality, poorly presented and overpriced. Will eat at Popeye's next time.

Delicious food and great atmosphere

By mpivin |

Chinese food elevated! This is more than a simple dinner; it's a dining experience. Reasonably priced for the quality of food and great for a sit down dinner that allows for relaxation and conversation. Authentic and delicious!

good experience

By CMSATL |

we had a large party and walked in while a large convention was in town. they were able to accommodate us with not too long a wait. the menu options were varied and everyone liked their food. the wait staff, while very busy, paid attention to the table. overall, a good experience and we will return when next in town.

Didn't bother to say they were closed for 4th on their Web site

By tripree |

Hot and tired after day of doing the tourist thing and hiked here from the aquarium only to find a note on the door saying they were closed for the holiday weekend. Really?? Thanks for updating your Web site to reflect that...not.

Great service

By Lee L |

Originally went to Pacific Rim to eat that was down the road & nothing on their menu look appetizing. So I searched for other near by places and found HSU's ...... GREAT PICK & wonderful service!!!! It was 1st time but surely not my last!!!

Landmark

By Richard R |

Always visit my friends at Hsu's when I am in town. Food is consistently good, reasonable prices and friendly service. My favorite is the roast pork lomein.

量少价高,美式中餐

By Christ_07090009 |

分量很少,价格虚高,美式中餐,勉强可吃。最恶心的是服务生直接加了20%小费,没有征求顾客意见。overpriced, americanized chinese food, tip added automatically by the waiter

Mgma conference

By JOhnMilewskico |

Stay at the Marriott and went across the street. The restaurant was a true treasure. Great service and great variety. Had the vegetarian lettuce wraps and the vegetarian tofu. Was an awesome meal. Even had a bar. And the manager even came up and discussed and talked about his life in Atlanta. Truly enjoyed the experience.

Second visit- a good as the last

By Steve S |

Returned to Atlanta and wanted a lighter meal. This Chinese cuisine is really good. Fresh and tasty ingredients.

Wanted Chinese food

By Michael M |

Good food, friendly staff. The prices were very reasonable. We wandered in late, after a long day of travel, and their sign basically says, open until we close. It was late, but the staff did not rush us, and seemed genuinely happy we were there. Elegant seating, nice ambiance, we were on a business trip to Atlanta, but this would be a nice date night restaurant.

HSU- I HEART YOU!!!

By MichelleEVacays |

Combination fried rice - woooooosah! Here’s the deal - you can walk out of the parking deck and arrive at the door practically; BUT, it’s $30 to park! So, not a cheap date night, but the food itself is reasonably priced and it is AMAZING! Hsu’s gets Chinese food RIGHT! This place was jammed packed and seems to stay that way, but service is good and it is FAST! The sweet Mama at the hostess stand is like the Kris Jenner of the restaurant. She runnin thangs for sure, but Mama is so sweet! If she likes you, you’ll know it! Our service and food was SUPERB! We’ll be back!

awesome place!

By Yvonne123stagg |

This was best Chinese food I've ever had! Plus the service was top notch! Very caring and friendly! You must try if ever in Atlanta!

OK, but not worth a 2nd trip

By Sandy Y |

Had dinner here on a Saturday night, in town for a sporting event. Servers were nice and service was fine. The food was fair for the price. Pork dumplings had no taste, beef in lettuce wraps tasted stale. Chicken with basil was good...scallops fair. Dinner for 4 (2 beers, 2 appetizers, and 4 entrees) $160, didn't feel it was worth it.

A Downtown Tradition

By HGLAW |

The Hsus have been bringing first-class Chinese-American food to downtown for many, many years. It's not only a favorite of tourists because of its location, it's always full of downtown workers as well. The service is good and fast. Check it out!

Great place to eat!

By jarredi94 |

Was with in walking distance from the hotel sat down very fast food was hot and came out really fast as well the place quiet so it was kinda relaxing and you could enjoy your food! Would definitely eat here again!

Great food and service!

By Patan |

The plates are really big and tasty and the price is affordable, correct. The service was also very good and fast, and a man (I guess the owner) is always around detecting customers needs!

Surprisingly good during DC

By vaptek |

We’re here for DragonCon and the quality of the food was fantastic! I am going to be very specific about the experience, but the TLDR is that yes, have dinner here and we will be back. The service was slow, but fine on the Sunday of a huge convention. It’s to be expected when you have a huge convention in town. Amazing they were still running well on a Sunday after 80k people had descended on the area. The Japanese old fashioned was delicious and should definitely be ordered; the Mai tai’s were forgettable, and the ginger martini was a *lot* of ginger. We got the spring rolls, which were good but I think I might try the dumplings next time. I got the spicy basil beef (not spicy) and it was great. My sister got the green bean & shrimp that I tried. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and she would get it again. I liked mine more, but I was in the mood for beef. Given the level of spice to her meal, I probably could have gotten the beef spicy as planned by the chef. One of us got the wonton soup and said it was great. My wife had the Mongolian beef and also said hers was also cooked perfectly. My friend got the kung pao chicken and would order again. Another of us got the Hong Kong noodles and would also order again, but might ask for different veggies in it. We plan to return next year!

Excellent food and service

By Brae315 |

Found this gem wanting PF Changs and I’m so glad I tried it. I had the spicy basil beef and crab angels. Both were excellent. Service was great but not overbearing. Highly recommend.

Good food

By 449zachs |

I enjoyed my meal here. I got the Basil Beef with the fried rice. Very good. Also I had a wicked good martini made by the bartender. Good place to go.

Excellent food and service

By Willowthewisp3 |

Very good food with excellent service- good portion sizes and great flavors- perfect for a special night out. We had the chicken curry and salt and pepper shrimp - both came with rice - can't say anything bad at all about this place.

A little superb, a little good

By Eduardo P |

Very nice atmosphere in a trendy area of Atlanta. Good appetizers, one party reported a very good vegetarian dish, one party a very acceptable General Tsu's favorite chicken, and one superb shrimp dish prepared in a mild but very tasty orangy sauce.

Probably the best Chinese restaurants in Atlanta!

By Wagner |

Great food and service. Had the Mongolian beef and it was delicious; large portion. The entire family enjoyed. This place has been around for 20+ years.

Bad food and price not recommended.

By meng z |

The food was terrible and so was the price. The dish was soaked in black soy sauce only. They charge a 20% tip without permission forcefully. We will never come back again.

A LITTLE OVERRATED & PRICEY!

By ihartsouthcarolina |

The restaurant was not too hard too find but I personally didn't like the downtown area of Atlanta - The parking situation is confusing but luckily the restaurant validates parking and the parking garage is conveniently next to it... This was for my 7 year old's birthday - She claims she has never had Chinese food before so I wanted her first experience to be special... She seemed to not really like it but was being polite about it (She likes vegetables and very bland foods so we ordered the vegetable plate for her) - My husband and I ordered the salmon and shrimp dish to share that had ginger in it... I found it to be delicious and also agreed but the price of our meal was pricey - Because it was her birthday the money wasn't a matter it was just that she seemed like it just wasn't very enjoyable for her... The authentic chopsticks and sorbet was a nice treat - She seemed to enjoy that part and even liked the chocolate covered fortune cookies... Our youngest daughter didn't eat any of it and threw a tantrum when her sister got sorbet and she didn't - The staff was forced to give her as well complimentary and to make my oldest feel special she sneaked the beautiful chopsticks as my youngest daughter was carried out by my husband... I liked that she wanted her to feel special on her day - That was very important to me and I commend them for that... But my take on the restaurant was I was expecting the hot tea, fried wontons, and very traditional upscale chinese restaurant - The big attraction to me wasn't the food but all the celebrity photos... I really wanted to see Paul Walker's photo and I did... We plan on going to Charlotte in September and probably won't go to their restaurant there - I will have to see the cuisine and re-think my decision... It just seemed my family wasn't blown away and neither was I...

Great lunch specials

By Dwightcr |

This Asian restaurant service a wide variety and Chinese dishes, soups and more. Try the lunch special which is in a bento box and at a value price

A restaurant to visit

By SASshipmateS87 |

This restaurant is a regular stop for us when visiting downtown Atlanta. The food and service is impeccable. All dishes I have eaten from their menu have been delicious. It is always a challenge to decide what to order. The owner allowed us to arrive prior to their opening time when we found our work day ended early. We were grateful to receive the hospitality and sit at a table. We have always found her to be very accommodating and pleasant. If you are seeking something other than a Steakhouse, Southern nouveau cuisine or typical bar fare, pop into Hsu's for a fabulous Asian dinner!

Best chinesee food ever!

By Duba91 |

I've ate chinesee food all around the world, but this restaurant is currently my number 1. (I thought nothing will beat chinese food that I had in Italy but they did!) Really tasty, fast service, decent prices.

Worst Chinese food ever

By Travellover |

Service was the worst.... our server was an Indian guy who was super rude! They really need a strong training on costumer service. We’ll never return and never recommend !!!! At least we left him a lot of tips he needs it more than us

Very friendly service and decent food

By Mathew Kim |

It is located in downtown Atlanta and very convenient to walk from many nearby major hotels. Food was freshly prepared and served in a proper manner. The price was reasonable and I will go back next time I visit Atlanta again.

Great Chinese Food in Atlanta !

By Stan A |

I was reluctant to go with the business group I was with , but certainly glad that I did. The food and service was spectacular. Has to be one of the places to go to in downtown Atlanta. Small and a little on the loud side , but well worth it. I had the scallops in black Pepper sauce and would highly recommend this entree.

Superb

By janewill2015 |

A little gem in downtown Atlanta. Great service and super food all freshly made and very tasty. We just kept it simple with a chicken noodle dish and a beef with black bean sauce. All quality ingredients with lots of vegetables added - a real plus for me. We will be back in Atlanta next week and hope to revisit

A beer and scallops

By Madhawa P |

I walked in for a quick lunch and was served a nice caramelized dish of scallops in a sauce with broccoli that hit the right spot! I ordered a fried rice and was satisfied with it. The service was efficient and I sat at the bar enjoying a local beer called sweet water. The bartender was good and the food ambience is quite decent. The price was just right too!

Great service and the food

By CaptTonyPabon |

Great service and the food was excellent. Pineapple Fried rice, general Tao chicken, fried chicken wantons. Everything was great.

Mediocre chinese food and TERRIBLE cocktails

By lilbanjo |

In fairness, I had set my sights on Trader Vic's, one of my favorites, only to discover they are closed on Mondays. So I tried Hsu's as it was close to the hotel. It was almost empty at 8:00 PM - should have been a hint. Ordered a "Forbidden" Mai Tai. It was terrible, with cheap rum and some kind of canned red juice that tasted like liquid jello. That was it, no fruit, no garnish, no mint, etc. I decided to try some small plates of appetizers instead of one dinner plate. Spring rolls were really greasy, the BBQ ribs were clearly par-boiled, then slathered with a bit of sauce. They were tasteless, pasty, and unappetizing. I also had the crab "angels" which are basically crag Rangoon, and they were okay - saved the review from being a one star. There must be better Chinese food in Atlanta. Don't waste your time here (at least not for appetizers and cocktails. I will not return

Best Chinese food I’ve had in awhile.

By hilary |

I ate 2 meals there. Spicy basil beef and seafood noodle soup are perfect. Ask the staff for suggestions and order to share.

Best Chinese food since leaving the San Francisco Bay area

By SceneItAll2013 |

My wife and I love Chinese food and since leaving the San Francisco Bay area we're usually disappointed in what we find. Not here. Hsu's Gourmet now has a permanent place on our "When In Atlanta must visit________"list.

Always very good.

By Tiburon09 |

5 of us for an excellent dinner. Good wines. Amazing Lave cake for dessert. Very convenient to America's Mart. Make reservations. Good service.

Authentic Chinese with the hustle and bustle

By Parisa63 |

This was really good Chinese, not the usual sticky mess you get with take out. It's a lovely sit down and the service was OK - not overly attentive and had to flag them down a few times but that kind of led to the charm. The food was really good. So tasty we kept eating and eating! Would definitely be my first stop in Atlanta if I go back again.

Very happy very pleasant very good good, this is really very go

By hualong chen |

Very happy, very happy, very happy, very happy very good service very good hope the next time will be good, hope you continue to keep I will definitely keep in touch with you wish you business prosperity

Best I've Ever Had!

By Elaine A |

Excellent food. The Hong Kong Style Crunchy Noodles and the Spicy Basil Chicken were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the service were both top notch. I highly recommend.

Dinner at Hsu's Chinese

By navel007 |

ALthough the prices are fairly expensive, the food portions are good and the food tastes good. Service was very good and would recommend

Great dining experience

By Barbara R |

The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The pork dumplings were delicious and fairly authentic. The roast duck was cooked perfectly, but it does have a plum sauce poured all over it. Tasty, but I wish it hadn’t been there. The Pork Medallions were delicious, but also had a sauce all over it. The fried rice was perfect! The restaurant is beautiful, and there’s a great attention to detail.

Delighted

By Timbo48 |

I was advised by my hotel that it’s a good restaurant. They were correct it’s very good. I had the the spicy beef and fried rice. Delicious. No complaints at all!!

Still the best

By Desire s |

We come here once a year and live it every year. Only con I had was my bloody Mary was extremely salty and had to send it back and cancel it. We always enjoy coming here. Keep up the awesome food and work!

Classy Ambiance and Good American-Chinese Food

By utfiero |

Food: I’ve been to Beijing, Hong Kong, and Taiwan and love Chinese food. Hsu’s is more of an Americanized version of Chinese, but it’s done well. I had the grilled salmon in ginger and scallion sauce. The portion was adequate and the sauce was very good. The salmon was slightly over cooked but it was not ruined. The asparagus was fresh and properly cooked. Service: Good service with a fairly attentive waitress. Overall cleanliness: above average Bathroom cleanliness: average Free WiFi

Hsu's

By Jerilyn M |

We love this place and brought our Moms here for Mother's Day. The staff is very friendly and the food is fresh. We love to visit here. They are usually packed and we made reservations since we had a large group.

Great service, tasty food

By Manning L |

Being Asian, I have high expectations for Chinese food. When I arrived, I was quickly and politely greeted by the hostess. She seated me in a nice table by myself. I ordered the lettuce wraps and the salmon with scallions and ginger. Both were good but not great. The decor is very nice with a nice upscale Asian feel to it. Overall a good place to eat.

Good Chinese food in downtown Atlanta

By louisianaman2016 |

My wife and saw this restaurant near our hotel and gave it a try. We were very satisfied with our meal, the wait staff, and overall experience. Typical Chinese food, but well-prepared with obvious fresh ingredients. We would highly recommend this restaurant and will eat here again on our next trip to Atlanta. Try it, it was really tasty Chinese food.

Passable Chinese in an old fashioned space

By PalmSpringsCA |

This was ok food that was completely edible in a slightly old space that I could see some folks interpreting as charming/old style charming. The older gentleman behind the bar was very friendly. Service is a tad slow but fine. The meal came in a bento-type box for lunch and had a small decent salad, some rice a very dried out cream cheese wanton and an entree. It was somewhat appealing looking but nothing special. I ate quickly in between meetings (as quickly as I could with the slower service) and went on my merry way thinking I would be ok if I came back or never did.

Travelling around america

Great food & taste

By Jason L |

On our way thru town and stopped in downtown Atlanta to sightsee. Had dinner here. Great food For a reasonable price! Excellent flavor in all of the dishes we tried!

Very Good Chinese Restaurant

By BillKountze |

I ordered the spring rolls which were wuite good and the Spicy Seafood Soup. I had asked my waiter if I woudl be wise to order the hot and sour soup as an appetizer; he counseled against that. He was right - the entree soup was all I needed.

Excellent in every way

By StevenHScher |

We had an amazing dinner at Hsu's. I love everything about this restaurant. I love the atmosphere, the decor is beautiful. The service is excellent, the staff is so friendly. The food is absolutely the freshest & most delicious Chinese food in Atlanta. I started with a bowl of wonton soup ($4.95). It was delicious. My son had the BBQ short ribs ($12.50) as an appetizer, amazing. The vegetable spring roll ($5.95) & the vegetable steam dumplings ($9.95) were delicious. I had the shrimp with lobster sauce ($21.50), which is not on the menu but they make it for me. It is absolutely the best ever. My wife & daughter in law had the pan fried noodles ($17.50), which was amazing. They validate parking next door. This is truly one of my favorite restaurants in Georgia.

Lightening fast service!

By Nancy M |

After being very effiiciently seated, waitress was ready to take orders. She answered questions with plenty of information? Had a wonderful Strawberry Lemon drop martini! Then Walnut Shrimp..... It was simply fabulous. Please don't skip this restaurant if you have a chance to eat in Atlanta.

Fantastic Meal

By StevenHScher |

This is the place to come for the best Chinese food in Atlanta. Firstly, the atmosphere is very nice, well decorated & quiet. The service here is always excellent, today was no exception. The food is always fresh & never greasy. The portions are large. My wife & I shared 2 appetizers, the grilled duck dumplings ($9.95), which were absolutely delicious. We also had the BBQ spare ribs ($11.95). They were very meaty & delicious. We shared an entree, the shrimp with lobster sauce ($22.95). There were tons of shrimp & the lobster sauce was excellent. I am a frequent visitor to Hsu's. This is my favorite restaurant for Chinese food. Again best in town.

10/10 Recommend

By Ashleigh B |

Hsu's was highly recommended by some friends and it did not disappoint. The staff was very attentive, even the owners are present and visible, making sure all customers are taken care of and happy. The food was wonderful and I look forward to going back the next time I'm in Atlanta. ** Tip: Make reservations in advance.

Wonderful food, service, and atmosphere! I first visited here 6 years ago and am delighted that it is every bit as fantastic as I remember it. The very best. Hands down my very favourite restaurant in Atlanta!

Good Chinese in the heart of Atlanta

By MaralagoKid |

Had a very nice lunch in downtown Atlanta. The service was quick and efficient. The decor nice and clean. The food is typical Chinese and well prepared. Good experience.

Outstanding

By 04DTS |

How I missed this place that has been in ATL for thirty years is a travesty! The service is excellent, the food is better and the price is very fair. No reason to not put this place on your bucket list.

Dinner

By Jose B |

Excellent dinner environment. Shrimp and scallops entrees were outstandingly delicious. Very attentive service and good selection of beverages. Highly recommend!

Great resturant

By Steve Smith |

Carried some of wife's family there -- was there first time visiting this resturant. I would suggest the lettuce wraps and the walnut shrimp.

Enjoyed it, but .....

By BritBoyInGA |

I'm always on the lookout for 'better than average' Chinese in the US. And Hsu's is definitely better than average. I found the menu a little limiting, but some of the staples (Hong Kong Crispy Noodle) were available and were very enjoyable. They have a dish flavored with curry sauce, but when I asked if I could supplement my dish with a side of curry sauce, which I'd be happy to pay for, a firm 'NO' was provided. The Chicken & Sweetcorn soup was uninspiring and defintely comes from a 'ready to go' mix. Would I return ? Yes, if I was nearby and in need of acceptable Chinese.

Unexpected fee and bad customer service

By Willie R |

The food was good yes but it’s the service I am disappointed with. I had to wait for 30 mins until I went out of my way to find a waiter to be seated. And the end when I ask for the tab I noticed they automatically charged me for the service fee. Since when do you automatically charge a fee for a party of 1? And then expected another tip on top of that which I paid because they told me the service fee was different from the tip. Never coming here again.

well worth a visit

By Jac |

Fantastic little restaurant, food amazing and service to match. Doesn't look much from outside but don't let that put you off

Excellent!

By Savannahone |

I have been dining at this restaurant for years and returned this past weekend after moving away. Still excellent with great service, a must for anyone who loves great Chinese/American food. The only thing I would recommend is refreshing the interior, Seems to be stuck in the late 80's/90's.

Hurricane evacuees

By Barbara P |

We were in Atlanta with another couple for several nights due to a mandatory evacuation during hurricane Matthew. We randomly chose Hsu's as we all had a taste for Asian food. We were very happy that we did!!! We shared the Peking duck and the combination fried rice. We ordered 2 extra soups. The duck was carved tableside and we proceeded to have a wonderful dinner. I highly recommend this. It was perfectly prepared. The service was excellent. Our waitress was a delight.

Good food, nice break

By Lisa W |

I came in for a late, quiet dinner while in town for a conference. I sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and kind. The pineapple fried rice with pork and chicken was very good, and I enjoyed a relaxing pot of tea. A very nice break at the end of a busy day!

Lunch time visit

By GuernseyPolarbear |

Very popular lunch time restaurant, helpful staff and very good food at reasonable prices. First visit and won't hesitate to go again if back in Atlanta.

Good Value for Food

By KatherineP_MN |

Restaurant is nice and value for food is good. Ordered combination fried rice which has chicken, beef and shrimp tasted good. Is across the street from Marriott and Hyatt hotel in downtown Atlanta.

Great Place to Eat!

By ctravel801 |

I try to stop by here anytime I am in downtown. If you’re looking for a nice late lunch or date night spot look no further. They have the best Peking Duck around!

Fantastic food

By Jkhppd |

My co-workers and I were at a conference at the Sheraton and went found this place to eat. Mongolian beef was fantastic for lunch!!! Service was exceptional and they were very friendly!!!! I would eat here again!

Good Asian Resturant

By Debbie K |

This is a good Asian restaurant in central Atlanta. The food is quite good and the service is likewise competent. The location was perfect as we were in town for a conference. My colleague made reservations, which was fortuitous as it was quite busy during our visit. The menu featured many Chinese favorites. I chose the chicken and asparagus which was terrific. The prices were in line with what you would expect for a place of this type in this location. If you are in downtown Atlanta and are looking for a spot for Asian fare, this is a good choice.

Love this Restaurant

By StevenHScher |

This is my favorite Chinese Restaurant in all of Atlanta. The food is fresh & delicious. The service is always fantastic. The decor is very nice & romantic. They validate parking for the International Garage just behind the restaurant. David always greets us with a smile & a hand shake. My wife & I shared the BBQ ribs ($12.50) & the steamed shrimp dumplings ($9.95). They were both delicious & substantial size portions. We shared an entree, shrimp with lobster sauce ($21.50), which is my favorite dish of all time. It was absolutely delicious as well as large enough to share. Our server was fabulous. I can not rave enough about this restaurant. I have never been disappointed at Hsu's.

Awesome lunch

By tcakaren |

Was at a seminar in the Sheraton and had free time for lunch. Had not been here since it was at tower place in buckhead. The calamari was tender and my shrimp dish was excellent. Wish it was closer too where I live.

Good food

By Bine Travels |

Try the spicy string beans. Spicy basil chicken and calamari. Friendly service. Old and dated furniture. But the food is definitely worth it. We even ordered seconds.

Late dinner

By pugsjhpugs |

We are in town for a conference and decided to go here based upon the Trip Advisor reviews. We were not disappointed!! This little restaurant was amazing. I had the San Shan soup for the first time. It was delicious. I also had the low neon. It was delicious as well. The food was hot and fresh. The service was superb. This is an outstanding place to dine.

Very friendly bartender(Kenny) and management staff was friendly and helpful. Classic/vintage interior and great food. I've been here several times and never disappointed.

excellent downtown Chinese food

By Jim1133 |

We went around 5:00 pm on a Fridday and were seated immediately. There service throughout the meals was excellent. The menu has a great variety, including vegetarian and vegan options. Everything we ordered was excellent.

Good food. Not overwhleming.

I wanted 'something' to eat for dinner in this strange-to-me town. A beggar on a bicycle caught up with me while I was meandering aimlessly just looking for something that tickled my salivary glands. He asked me a few questions - what are you looking for, what is your favorite food, how expensive do you want to spend? And more. I tolerated him as he touted the details about almost every restaurant I passed in a couple of blocks. I saw the sign for Hsu's and said I think I might like...that! And pointed to the sign. He pointed me to the entrance door. I gave him a fiver. I was seated promptly in an almost empty restaurant - they had just opened 15 minutes earlier. The server brought water, and asked about a drink choice. I picked their 'Forbidden MaiTai' - whatever was forbidden about it I guess I'll never know. He brought it promptly. I asked about the spicy items they had and decided on Spicy Chicken with Broccoli; I also wanted Fried rice - he told me it would be a $5 upcharge. He brought the food - it was HOT! The preparation/serving was fine. I dug in...and the flavor was not overwhelming. It wasn't that spicy. But it was okay. I ate it. I'd go back, but would probably try somewhere else for comparison too.

Delicious Chinese Food

By Samantha F |

Ate at Hsu's after reading the reviews while visiting Atlanta. We stopped in for lunch and the food didn't disappoint. We had wonton soup, dumpling, and the crab ragoon (best we have ever had). We also had walnut shrimp, beef with string beans, and lemon chicken, all delicious!! The price was extremely reasonable given the location and the portions were generous. Look forward to dining here again while in town. *they also validate parking for the parking garage directly on top of the restaurant.

Many Happy Returns!! Furry Weekend Atlanta 2023 visit to HSU’s brought back memories of last dining here during FWA 2018

By Joe G. Bear |

I was very glad this restaurant survived the pandemic. Last time I dined here was during “Furry Weekend Atlanta 2018” and haven’t made it back since, until this year… I couldn’t make it to HSU’s when I returned last year during FWA 2022 (scheduling issues). I made sure we didn’t miss 2023, as there was no guarantees if I’ll make FWA next year (due to my Dad’s recent death and changes in my lifestyle). We made a reservation for right after FWA 2023 opening ceremonies on Thursday night at 8pm. Sadly, the opening was delayed almost 45 mins!! We called after 8:15pm and the nice lady who answered was able to accommodate us - we quickly left the Marriott Marquis across the street to get in ASAP and arrived by 8:30pm (sadly missing guest of honor event in order to eat). The restaurant now closes at 9pm, as it used to close at 10pm before the pandemic. Still, our party of three was able to eat. My favorite dish was still on the menu, but the side dish changed. The Salmon with pepper sauce was still on the menu, and it was as delicious as I last remembered five years ago, but the spinach was no longer available - Sauteed Salmon over Fresh Bok Choy with Black Pepper Corn Sauce was still a worthy dish. Prices have gone up, but still worth it. Service was impeccable, the manager even came out to chat with us, and knew the furries were in town. Overall, I couldn’t be happier and it was a treat to come back. FIVE CLAWS UP!!!!! Thanks for reading my review of HSU’s Gourmet Chinese located in the heart of Downtown Atlanta. Bear Hugs - Joe G. Bear (FWA ‘23 restaurant review)

Average chinese restaurant

By Always_single |

Walk distance from Marriott Marquis Hotel, Atlanta GA. The food was ok. We ordered: Shrimp Fried Rice, Shrimp with walnut, combination chow mein. The table was set up with fancy plates but when the foods is ready to serve, they changed to a plain white plates... (????) Why bother?? afraid us will break your beautiful plates, then they shouldn't put it on the table at first. HA HA HA.

Still trying to find a really good Chinese restaurant in Atlanta

By Carmen6868 |

Having lived in Asia for 9 years and having unbelievable great Chinese food available, I'm struggling to find a good solid authentic Chinese restaurants in Atlanta. Hsu's is better than most but it is average. The dumplings dough was sticky, not sure what was inside the casing... Pork or duck. All tasted the same. I didn't get the fresh quality you expect to get. Too much use of shrimp paste which I don't like at all and overpowers every other flavor you are looking for. OK restaurant but not great.

Superior chinese

By Steve S |

This spot caught our eye while enroute to another for dinner. The following day made it out lunch choice. All dishes were fresh and tasty. Enjoyed a more authentic experience.

AWARD WINNING CHINESE FOOD

By DeeHay1958 |

We visit Atlanta twice yearly for trade show. This is where we take our customers for dinner. They never fail. The Peking Duck is an absolute must and any other dishes are absolutely delicious... Make a reservation weeks in advance. You cannot just walk in and get a table especially when trade shows are at Americas Mart.

Very tasty!

By buddhakitty |

Stopped for lunch. It was near our conference. Excellent food and great customer service! Well worth a stop.

Really good Chinese food, hit the spot!

By Franklin518 |

The only reason this is not a 5 star, it that I have lived in the Pacific NW where we had exceptional Chinese, so I have a high standard. But, this was very, very good Chinese and having gone too long without my fix, I was happy. We ordered pot stickers (very good), egg rolls (good), chicken low mein (very good after I added soy sauce), general tso chicken (very good with a spicy kick). Friendly, efficient staff. Good central location. The fortune cookies are chocolate dipped - nice touch. Clean and nicely decorated space. Got really crowded after we were seated, so I recommend reservations. You will enjoy your meal.

Good place to eat!

By Mery J |

Very good food and the size of the dishes are big. Our server was very kind. I recommend it for Chinese food.

Spicy Basil Chicken

By Rahul K |

I visited HSUs for team lunch today and had Spicy Basil Chicken with Fried Rice for lunch today at HSU's. It tasted delicious and definitely like to visit again to eat other delicacies.

Really, really goood

By Odyssey16453484104 |

Came on for a quiet Sunday dinner. The staff was incredibly attentive and kind as soon as we walked in. The food portions are plentiful and delicious. Definitely coming back for the ribs and the sauce.

Great reviews but.......

By Hot Button |

Having read great reviews I was disappointed when only one of two dishes was good. The fried rice with shrimp, chicken and other meats was tasteless and soggy. Some meats I could not even recognize or taste. The mixed veg was excellent .

Mushy food.

By Alex I |

Got the curry chicken, food was literally boiling hot to the point I couldn’t eat it and the chicken was mush. I also got the egg rolls and again they were completely mushy on the inside. Had a half dozen bites and was done. I do not recommend eating here.

Rip off

By Dutchy |

We used to come to this place every year since many years during IPPE with a large group. This time the first 2 to arrive ordered a glass of red wine each, and the waiter suggested to take bottle. Expecting this to a bottle of house wine they did not pay much attention. Waiter brought an opened bottle for one table and opened one for the other table as well. Turned out to be a $165 per bottle wine, the most expensive on the menu, I find this inappropriate to say the least. The food is average chinese food. You can imaging this has been the last time we visited this restaurant.

Excellent chinese food

By VeroPretoria |

I had a delicious meal at HSU's. The menu is varied and teh food was fresh and delicious. The service was excellent. The restaurant was packed on Saturday night but the waitresses had it under control. I would recommend making a reservation on the week end

The best chinese food in Atlanta

By GiseleFer |

My husband was hungry for chinese food, so I decided to see the reviews here about a good restaurant in the area and we called the restaurant Hsu's to have a take-out, was the best decision for the night ... the best chinese food I have ever had in the U.S. so far. We had combination fried rice, steamed dumplings, spring rolls and meat.

WOW! Make a reservation!

By Donna W |

I have been traveling to Atlanta for years. This place is simply the best around for Chinese! You cannot get in without a reservation. I ended up getting takeout twice because they were booked solid for the night. While the décor is a bit dated & it is loud - the food & service are AMAZING & well worth the trip!

Excellent food - great service

By helen h |

I don't eat Chinese good very often and I would definitely come here again. Great ambiance and fabulous food. Had a great round table for 8 of us with a lazy susan in the middle. Really nice cocktails and great service. Some of us had entrees, others had soup and appetizers. Everything was fantastic. One block from the Marriott Marquis. Definitely suggest you try this place!

Very good for Chinese food, although pricey a la carte

By Richard R |

The one extra bonus I will give them is during a very crowded trade show weekend they accommodated us last minute in a spot of a cancelled reservation. That was very cordial. We tried a spicy beef dish and the vegetable lettuce wraps. They wraps needed more sauce which we asked for and received. The tea was hot and subtle. My associate's asparagus and beef dish was also very good. We enjoyed the atmosphere, artifacts on the walls, and struck up conversation with fellow trade show attendees at the next table. While it was very good food, the price comparatively to other restaurants brings down the rating a bit. I understand they are operating in the downtown of a major city, hence the added costs. But charging a few dollars extra for fried rice is kind of a downer, when you consider they must make pans of the staple ahead of the dinner rush.

Excellent Service

By India W |

Our waiter was ever attentive! Our glasses were never empty and the food was great! The General TSO Chicken was perfect — sweet, but not too sweet! I would definitely recommend checking this place out!

Excellent food & service

By StevenHScher |

My wife & I came to Hsu's for dinner. The restaurant has a very warm & quiet atmosphere. We started with the grilled duck dumplings. They were delicious. I had the shrimp with lobster sauce they made special for me. It was absolutely delicious, the best I've had. My wife had the pan fried noodles with shrimp & chicken. Fantastic. The real treat is when they bring the chocolate covered fortune cookies. Our server William was great. He was very friendly & was always there to check on us. I will be back often. Next time I try the Peking duck. It looked fantastic.

Yummy Chinese Food

By SullyC2027 |

The best Chinese I have had in a long time. Our waiter was patient and kind. Steam pork dumplings were delicious and I had Salt and Pepper Shrimp. Both were super yummy! We also had Pineapple Fried Rice with Shrimp and Pork. To die for!!! 🥇🏆

Good Service and Great Food

By Mark Bennett |

We were in Atlanta for the night and fancied a Chinese so following a quick Google search thought we'd give Hsu's a go. As it was midweek it wasn't too busy but still had a few busy tables along with being fully seated at the bar. We ordered the won-ton and chicken/sweetcorn soup to start which was lovely. For our main we ordered the mixed fried rice, chicken curry and salt/chilli Shrimp. The portions were huge and delicious but as were were hungry we just about managed to finish it all. The service throughout was excellent and although it is an expensive restaurant, compared to similar elsewhere, we felt it was fair value.

Yummy food!

By ahespeler |

Yummy food and good sized portions. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We would return again if in the area.

Fresh Food and Good Service

By Marzel2014 |

In Atlanta for a visit, my daughter had a craving for Chinese food so we chose to eat dinner at Hsu's Gourmet Restaurant. Frankly, the establishment featured your typical Chinese cuisine menu dressed in a fine dining setting (that could use a bit of updating). However, the food had a fresh taste and the sauces were quite flavorful. I wasn't a fan of the spring rolls, but our entrees - Shrinp Lo Mein and the Walnut Shrimp - were worth the visit.

Delicious food

By travelpilot65 |

I Decided to walk around the area and stumbled upon this great Chinese restaurant. The food was excellent and the lunch portions were really large. Food was prepared quickly and was hot and delicious. I tried the walnut shrimp and the spicy beef. Very clean restaurant with fast and courteous service.

New Years Eve dinner

By StevenHScher |

We had a party of ten. We were seated at a large round table with a lazy Susan in the middle. It wasn't too noisy so we were able to have a nice conversation. My wife & I ordered two appetizers, steamed shrimp dumplings & spare ribs. They were both delicious. For my entree I ordered my favorite dish, shrimp with lobster sauce. It was served with white rice. It was absolutely delicious. My wife had the pan fried noodles, which also fantastic. Everyone in our group loved their food. My friend loves General Tso's chicken, it's his favorite dish. He said the General Tso's chicken at Hsu's was the best he ever had. It was an amazing New Year's Eve dinner.

Darn Fine Asian Food.

By RCrumb |

Great food, great service, prices were fine, clean, great selection of dishes and the waitress's recommendations were appreciated but spot on re taste and quality. Very tasty, fresh, good portions. Overall we really enjoyed the place and would definitely go back. Try it, you'll enjoy the food.

Best Chinese Food! So close to the Mart! Hidden gem

By shelleylynn |

My mom and I finished our buying trip at the Atlanta Apparel Mart and decided to try Hsu's. The food was wonderful. We had spring rolls, chicken with vegetables and wonton soup. Service was fast and food was fantastic. They also brought us the best little fortune cookie dipped in chocolate. We will be back!

Peking Duck dinner was fantastic

By StevenHScher |

We had a party of 6. I love Hsu's, the foods is delicious & consistent. The decor is very nice. The staff is so very friendly. We came this night for the Peking Duck. The best part is you don't have to order the duck ahead of time. The duck is a three course meal & is for two people. We ordered 2 orders for the six of us & ordered a few appetizers & we took some duck home. The duck appetizer of pancakes was great. The duck soup was so good. The duck was served with rice & steamed broccoli. It was all great. Our server was excellent. This was a perfect meal.

Very, very good.

By lever8651 |

Nothing to complain about with Hsu’s. It is consistently excellent; food, service, ambiance and fair prices. Don’t know if it is considered Chinese gourmet but the menu is unique with entrees not found elsewhere. We’re in town at the apparel mart several times a year and usually try to dine here. I think you’ll like Hsu’s.

Wonderful surprise

By Vee999 |

From the outside Hsu's is unassuming and the locale is underwhelming but we were really glad we chose to go in! Service was quick & friendly. Food was delicious, especially if you like traditional flavors. Good portions for sharing. Loved lettuce wraps, calmari and bean dishes. Both the scallops and Avocado shrimp were perfect blends. Flavorful but not too spicy. We were in Atlanta 7 days for a Rotary conference and went a second time, with the same satisfied outcome. The waiter even told us to stay at our table and wait out the rain when we were finished. That's customer service!

Flavor filled!

By Kim B |

I was excited to see this flavor filled, fresh Chinese food. I enjoyed this delicious lunch with my three teenaged girls. There were four of us. We ordered 3 meals and a soup, and it was plenty.

Excellent food, professional service

By ianf22 |

Had two excellent dinners here on a recent visit to Atlanta. On both occasions the restaurant was pretty busy but service was very prompt and efficient. The asparagus and black bean beef was excellent as were both chicken dishes that we had. The prices aren't the cheapest but this is a quality restaurant with great food.

Best Chinese Food Ever!

This place was awesome! Great atmosphere. Such amazing service. And the food was DELICIOUS!!! Definitely go.

Excellent Asian Cuisine!

By pickyvicky8 |

We are from Seattle so we are big on asian cuisine. This is some of the best we have had. Excellent Walnut Shrimp and a must have at this resturant.

Refreshing Chinese in the sea of franchise & southern food near Peachtree Center...

By DominoVivien |

We were delighted to dine in this family owned oasis of delicious Chinese food! The food was fresh, perfectly seasoned and delicious! We cleaned all of our plates! They also have a nice wine list. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Perfect place for a date or family dining, I will certainly return!

Great food and service

By southernpeach22 |

This was an exciting "find"! The food and service were both great. The wonton soup is some of the best that I've had anywhere. General Tsu's chicken was very good. I'm already craving a return visit!

Great chinese!

By HMW |

We sat at the bar waiting for a table and quickly decided to stay in place for dinner. Kenny, the bartender was great. He was hilarious, but really good at reading our party of three. When we were deep in conversation, he backed off, he made us laugh until we cried and makes a great Georgia Peach Martini. The food was amazing. Too much to finish in one sitting. The lettuce wraps were great for an appetizer. I would definitely recommend and revisit!

Good food and service

By Allison G |

Pretty delicious Asian cuisine and even better service. We ordered a round of drinks and our waiter brought us another round on him before we could even order a second. Much appreciated.

Upscale Chinese

By McHalesNavy |

This is a nice upscale Chinese restaurant. Prices are about $20-$30 per person. The food is excellent! The service is attentive but not intrusive. We went early on a Friday night and there wasn’t a problem getting a table. From the photos on the wall, it appears to be a spot for famous people to visit too. We Uber’d but I’m not sure where you’d park. We had lettuce wraps, dumplings, General Tsu’s, the noodle bowl and the Basil Beef. The Beef was a little spicy. Everything was excellent and we will be back. Cost for 3 people with no drinks $110.

Great birthday dinner

By StevenHScher |

We took my cd son & his wife to Hsu's for dinner. It couldn't have been more perfect. We started with a few starters, the BBQ ribs ($11.95), & veggie lettuce wraps ($9.50). They were both delicious. I had shrimp with lobster sauce ($22.95), which has been & continues to be the best I've ever had. My wife, son, & daughter-in-law & shared the Peking duck ($59.95). It is served as a 3 course dinner. It starts with the duck being carved tableside & pancakes as a starter. Then duck soup. Then duck served with steamed broccoli. I have had it here before & it is absolutely delicious. For dessert we had the chocolate lava cake ($8.50). It was served with green tea ice cream. It was absolutely delicious. My had had the lychee nuts served on ice. He said it was delicious. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was very romantic although this night it was noisy due to a large party. My son very much enjoyed his birthday dinner.

Relaxed and very good fare

By 52Travel5202 |

The atmosphere in this restaurant is relaxed and the cuisine is authentic. Great spring rolls along with avocado shrimp made for a great dinner. But I had my eyes on the Peking duck served to the couple at the next table--worth going back to order! Very good restaurant, highly recommended.

Darn good Mongolian Beef!

By 1alwaystraveling |

Well, again, heard so much about the place which is apparently a main stay of Atlanta. Pics on the wall show quite the clientele from Holyfield to Affleck. Well, the starter was just a bit so so, got steamed dumplings and they were just average. Cocktail I had was atrocious, strong, but atrocious. Thankfully my Mongolian Beef was superb. Service overall was good and the hostess was dealing well with walk ins when it was a full house, so kudos to her, she did well. My nephew had some curry and said it wasn’t what he was expecting (Thai curry is what he is use too) but said it had good flavor and the right amount of spice. Definitely should make a reservation, as we went on a Monday and they were packed.

Who would have guessed? A great chinese restaurant in down town Atlanta.

By laker12847 |

The dishes were excellent and many of the items, for example the spare rib appetizer, were a nice change from the normal preparation. The service was great and the waiter attentive. The bill was a bit pricey but all in all an excellent choice for something a bit different.

Delicious Chinese

By Tiburon09 |

Not inexpensive but well worth the price. Order for your own serving or family style. Shrimp and Avocado excellent. If you order whole fish ask that they fillet it. Busy.....lots of medium large groups. Fairly loud. Need reservations, especially when a show at Americas Mart. Service good and efficient.

Best Chinese Restaurant I Have Been to in a While!

By Joan M |

I was visiting friends in Atlanta and staying at the Marriott Marquis. I had the evening before I left free, so a person I had met at the hotel suggested Hsu's, saying it was a short walk from the hotel and very good.I decided to have dinner there and I was very happy that I did. The restaurant inside is very nice visually. Tables are set with table clothes and silverware and the noise level is very quiet. I hadn't had any Won Ton soup for a long time and Hsu's was the best with very tasty broth and delicate won tons. For my main entry I decided on Jumbo Shrimp with XO sauce. The shrimp were indeed jumbo, the XO sauce (which I had never tried) was excellent and the plate was also filled with fresh asparagus. Needless to say I could not finish the dish as it was a large portion. I also had a glass a wine for dinner which was priced very reasonably. The service was excellent and my food was brought out in a timely manner. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Chinese Food Experience

By 4Wing |

Food was excellent, but expensive. Dishes were smaller than we expected. It cost us $30 each plus tip and then we had to go buy chips.

love their peking duck

By allan_y1965 |

great ambiance, friendly staff and delicious chinese cuisine. they have amazing menu but i most especially like their peking duck prepared in three ways. reasonable pricing and right besides a parking building where they validate you ticket.

Fantastic

By StevenHScher |

Hsu's is the best Chinese restaurant in Atlanta, if not the whole state. Due to Covid they were closed for 4 months. I missed it. Well they are back. My wife & I are not eating out yet due to Covid but we did take out today. We had the shrimp with lobster sauce ($21.95). It is so delicious. There are so many large shrimp & the sauce is fantastic. The staff is so friendly & so nice. The decor is very nice. They also validate parking. Thank you for re-opening in a safe way.

Absolutely fantastic

By SoraCrafts |

The service was great. the atmosphere was great. The food was unbelievable. I could go on, but everything said, would be very positive.

Great food, service, atmosphere, and price

By couldntcareless |

I've been taking friends and business groups to Hsu's for almost 30 years. We experience fine dining and unhurried great service that makes you feel like family. I order several appetizers and watch my groups reaction as conversation becomes taste bud heaven. It's especially fun to see first timers shock at the exquisite tastes. Then from the broad menu we eat like Royalty on a commoners budget. If Hsu's doubled their prices it would still be the best food and value in downtown Atlanta. JB

Best full service chinese I've had

By Terry N |

Food and service were outstanding. Be sure to make a reservation before arriving as it was packed this Sunday evening. Plenty of parking garages and uncovered parking in the area close to this restaurant. I had the Veggie Spring rolls as the appetizer and Spicy Chicken Basil. I will definitely get this again, keep in mind though it's got a good kick to it. Atmosphere was great although it was a bit loud from the packed dining area but I don't fault the reataraunt for that. If you're in Atlanta and have an appetite for Chinese food, this is the place to go.

Fantabulously Incredibly Delectable

By Serenity |

Hsu’s tri-course Peking Duck was amazingly delicious! I’ve never had such a wonderful Chinese meal, despite being a sophisticated world traveler. Last evening, I was entertaining an out-of-town guest, so both of us were gobsmacked at how incredible each of the three dishes were: 1) the melt in the mouth crepe with crispy duck skin & Hoisin - served tableside; 2) luscious soup with duck base & duck meat cuts; 3) delightful duck meat stir-fry with broccoli. Wish I could eat it again today! LOL Even the tea was great. The Service was entirely solicitous in a lovely atmosphere. Hsu’s is most highly recommended! Plus, they thoughtfully validate parking in the adjacent International Parking Lot! A special evening indeed, our compliments to the chef!

Very good food with fast service!

By Northwomn |

We went here the first night of DragonCon. We were seated quickly. Our order cam quickly. The food was very good. We had the Honey Walnut Shrimp and the Lomein. They made the lomein without pork since my daughter can't have red meat. The hot tea was great. We really enjoyed it.

Quality Chinese

By Joe A |

The service was good the waiter was attentive but not overbearing. The food was good not particularly different from other Chinese restaurants I have eaten at all though some of the dishes were called by names I didn't recognize. It was a busy lunch time when I went but It was still not to loud or over crowded. I felt the food quality was high and the flavors were pretty good. I would eat there again.

Great Food as Judged by may party of Beijing Visitors

By lhsanki |

We were visiting from Australia but joined by my Beijing Colleagues, after a few days of the Atlanta stye of food, it was time to try some familiar Chinese style ,we are very experienced in eating out in Beijing and I thought as the first time we had visited a Chinese Restaurant outside of China this would be an interesting test, what a surprise, you could not see the difference, very high quality food and service to match, and very much made my Chinese friends feel like they were at home, best compliment I can give, well done

Fair food. Great Service. Good lunch spot.

By TripTipDad |

Hsu's has fair food, and especially nice presentation. At times, some dishes lack seasoning, which seems odd to say about Eastern cuisine. But they also don't seem to load dishes with additives like MSG. Scallops were good. General Tsu's was fair. Service is outstanding. They are so polite and friendly. They don't rush you. The food is prompt and the attention is first rate. This is a nice spot for a business lunch or social gathering.

Overpriced mediocre food

By dollah1 |

The waiter was very condescending about answering our questions about the menu. We ordered the crab wontons which were delicious to start. We also had the walnut shrimp which was okay, and the avocado shrimp which tasted like it had microwaveable butter sauce on it. Not good at all. We would have been much better off at our Chinese takeout place spending $14 for more and better food than we got here for $65.

Expensive but Basic Chinese Food

By Meowy |

I went here with a group for a business lunch. We had to wait for 20 minutes to get a seat at around noon. The other guests who had to wait had the right idea and left, not willing to wait. As we were seated I noticed that the place was half empty, so no need at lunch time to have patrons wait for 20 minutes. The food is overly expensive. You can get good Chinese for half the price of Hsu's. The restaurant seems to take itself very seriously, to the point of being pretentious. In the very small waiting area, there are a ton of pictures of celebrities who ate there and the prices are beyond over inflated. The food itself is nowhere's near the price you pay. It is best to avoid Hsu's and try other Asian restaurants in the area.

Uncomplicated Chinese Food

By kimwill725 |

I ordered takeout 1 night and ate in on Valentine's Day. Quick service, fresh and affordable. Loved the walnut shrimp with brown rice on side.

Great birthday dinner

By StevenHScher |

I celebrated my birthday at Hsu's with friends & family. There were 7 of us. I started with the grilled duck dumplings ($9.95). They were absolutely delicious, a nice large portion. For my main course I had shrimp with lobster sauce ($20.95). It is my favorite dish & it was loaded, I mean loaded with shrimp. My son shared his BBQ ribs ($11.95). They were delicious. My wife brought a birthday cake & they brought it out of the kitchen with this cool musical candle type flower. It was amazing. The service was fantastic even though the restaurant was very busy. If you want good fresh, non greasy Chinese food I think this is the best restaurant in Atlanta.

Best Chinese I have had in years

By FVRob |

I loved everything about this restaurant. It was clean, the service was above and beyond, the food was fantastic and it was the most affordable meal we had during our stay in ATL. I tried a variety of items on the menu and they were all great. We noticed that most of the people dining were locals and the owners were out on the floor greeting people and helping bus tables. You don't see that sort of commitment much anymore and it really shows. This is not your average hole in the wall Chinese joint with a standardized menu, this is a top notch operation and the only reason I would ever look forward to going back to ATL.

Deeeelicious!!

By jenfanelli |

Visited on the recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed. Great service, good food and lovely atmosphere!! If you like Chinese food you can't go wrong here!

Great place with fast service and good food

By paragkarania |

The entrance is located behind the mall so may not be easy to find. You can go through the mall food court and go to the street behind to find this place. The decor needs updating . The service is quite fast . Food variety is good too . Lots of nice options and it is flavored well. At the end you get a chocolate and vanilla fortune cookie which is not a common thing in most Chinese food restaurants. Servers are multi lingual which is great for not English speaking customers

Good Food

By mamalulutoo |

I went to Hsu's for dinner with a colleague as we were in Atlanta for business. The egg rolls were fantastic and I may order just the egg rolls the next time I go to Hsu's. The salt and pepper shrimp were good. Nice amount of spice and flavoring.

Will satisfy your craving for Chinese Food near Olympic Park

By MiteshP |

Convenient short walk from the Olympic Park/CNN area. Service was excellent, from the hostess to the waiter. They are vegetarian friendly, and the food items were very good with just the right portions. Each dish was overpriced by $2-4 dollars than what you would normally pay elsewhere, but you are probably paying extra for the location. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated with authentic Chinese decoration, but is a little too dimly lit. I had a hard time reading the menu. I would go back if I was in the area and craved Chinese food.

Amazing food and service!

By Shelly W |

Must visit while in Atlanta. The service is top notch and the food is wonderful. Highly recommend Anna's Soup.

Pricey chinese

By Shannon L |

So there aren't a lot of decent chinese options around the area that was greasy or divey, so this was a good choice. The food is not super oily and most of the appetizers are house made. The spring rolls, I particularly thought were good. All in all, it's a decent chinese restaurant, but very pricey. Nothing spectacular, but if you're in the mood for chinese, it will satisfy the craving. The ambiance is nice and service is great.

Good eat in Chinese food

By CyndyandByron |

Hsu's looks like an old school formal Chinese restaurant. Chinese families were enjoying Friday night dinner so it must be better than average. Tasted that way to us for sure. The menu is in Chinese and English, We had simple veggies and fried rice and veggies and fried noodle. Nothing fancy, but staff treated us like we had ordered a three course Peking duck dinner. The waiter, the manager, and the owner came to check on us to be sure we enjoyed our meal. Everything is cooked to order from fresh ingredients. Our regular Chinese restaurant, which, by the way, was not near as nice as Hsu's, closed for business and we are very happy to have found Hsu's.

I had the pinnaple, shrimp and beef fried rice and it was the best one I had ever! Really delicious. We also ordered a spicy seafood noodle soup and was incredible. Definately recomend it!

Great spot in downtown Atlanta!

I was recently in Atlanta for a couple weeks and ended up at Hsu's twice. The food was really good and the service was also nice. If you are craving Asian food -- this will be a good spot!

Great meal!

I was by myself but enjoyed my experience. The staff was attentive without being overbearing or rushing me, and the food was delicious. The decor and table setting is pleasant. I got wonton soup which came with those wonderful little crunchies, and a dish with crunchy noodles and shrimp and chicken on top. The crunch factor was outstanding and tasty! The only thing was there was a huge work party occuring in an alcove not far away. This is not the restaurant's fault, and the party was in a separate space so they did the best they could.
