I really recommend this place, it's self serve and you get to choose what you want on your plate and how much you want with the spices you want. There are little notes at the side of your table with recommend plates and spices. If you've never been to a Huhot let them know they will give you the step by step and you'll even get a free side of rice and bun!

I have been to a number of Mongolian style restaurants in a number of states and this one, I have to say, is one of the best for selection of meats, noodles, veggies and sauces. We have returned to Huhot several times over the past few months and it has been consistently good. You just have to ensure that you mix the right blend of sauces or you will be sorry. I found the perfect blend of sauces (for my taste) on our second visit. The cooks are very good and efficient at cooking to ensure your meat is cooked well but not burned. They sure like to fire up that grill too! You also get soup or salad and rice on the side with your dish of mongolian grill.

Our first visit here was an adventure because our server failed to let us in on the basic fact that you need two bowls. This is a stir fry buffet where you schlep around a confusing array of badly labeled ingredients that were very hit or miss. There's no shrimp on this buffet, and I found out that they only serve shrimp on Wednesday night and Friday night. The rest of the time it's no shrimp for you. The "Krab" is obviously some other type of marine life and the "Scallops" more closely resembled calamari. They do have plenty of chicken and beef all thin sliced, and there is a complete selection of vegetables and multiple sauces including ginger, garlic, and curry. There are also some very intense hot sauces that could intimidate an uninitiated patron. After you have collected all your desired ingredients, you line up around a large heated circular stove. One of the cooks takes your bowls and dumps them on the big Wok stove. The end result is a fairly tasty dish of stir fry. They charge extra for egg rolls, but since this is an all you can eat place, there no sense in ordering appetizers. They bring a good size bowl of sticky rice and there's soy sauce and more red chili hot sauce to satisfy anybody. I spoke to several regulars who come here all the time and really enjoy HuHot. There are some serious eaters here. For $10 at lunch they seriously get their money's worth. This place may be an acquired taste.

The food was amazing! All you can eat! We were staffed and every bite tasted great! One of our families new favorites!😀❤️😋Yum!

We have been to HuHot many times in the past and always enjoyed. While the food was fresh and cooked nicely, the restaurant itself was filthy. The buffet line was a mess with stuff all over the counter. The area where you add your seasoning was horrible- there was no attention to cleanliness. The stir fry area counter was equally not attended to. There is supposed to be a new HuHot opening on 1604 West so we will await its opening before going again.

Floors and especially restrooms were horrible. If a restaurant can't clean the restroom to a decent standard to what standard are they cleaning the kitchen? Food, ok. Money better spent elsewhere in my opinion.

OMG!!! the food was really really good, would have likes some prawns as well but aside of this, it was so so good. I got a bit confused with the sauces as I wasn't sure what would taste good but I was not disappointed with my choices.

LOVE Mongolian Griill; it is the best form of buffet anywhere! You build your own plate and take it the grill, then the chefs put on a big show while cooking your dinner. There is lots of spatula flipping, rhythmic drumming, chefs circling the grill like preparing for war, etc. Great variety of vegetables and sauces, some extras at the grill serving station (coconut flakes, sunflower seeds, fried noodles), and they bring bowls of white rice to your table to go with your meal. There is a menu for those who don't like buffet, or just want soup / salad; there are also some very good looking desserts but I was too stuffed to try any.

Haven't been back in a while, but thought we would by for a late lunch...we weren't disappointed. Waiter immediately dropped by for drinks and we were off to the serve yourself raw buffet. All kinds of thin sliced meat, clams and fake crab meat. Vegetables out the wazoo and all kinds of liquid flavorings and oils. They cook it on a hot grill in front of you...it only takes minutes to cook. Leave a tip for the chef, put a few topics on, like sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, etc. and you off to your table. Go back for seconds if you can fit it in. Still good and reliable. Meat is frozen, but the veggies are always fresh. Try it, you'll like it. Lunch costs $12.99, all you can eat...not bad.

Our family went here Sunday evening to celebrate our son's birthday. We were seated promptly. Food was great - you pick your own ingredients, pick your flavoring sauces and the staff cooks your food on a huge flat wok. Our server Maria was attentive and prompt with our requests. We will go again.

My family loves this place....we always leave happy and full!

I have been here several times the food is great and the service is good love this place. Eat here every other weekend

This is the 2nd Hu Hot visited, so basically was the same. Taste is good (I love asian spicy food) not excellent, due to as the other Hu Hot, meat, fish and seafood were frozen at the bar table. Also, some of the vegetables were out fried, we love the crunchy vegetables. Place is good it was full and we took almost 30mins to get our plate fried. But, I still comeback to this restaurant. Healthy and tasty.

What a cool place. You make your own bowl(s) and then take it to the giant circular hibachi grill. This is a great set-up. You create your own flavor and serving size. There are so many different possibilities. This place appeals to all diners, including children.

Mongolian is one of my favorite food; Hu Hot is the best place to go. Lots of vegetables, meat & seafood selections. And take note their sauces are rated from 1 pepper to 7 peppers. My cousin and I made beef Mongolian and then the 2nd time round we did seafood Mongolian. They are both delicious, everything is delicious you cannot make mistake as everything you choose. There is also a menu for those who don't like buffet.

Excellent flavors created by you, depending on what you want in your dish. Veggies, variety of meats, noodles, rice and sauces all mixed together, determined by you. Good service also.

The best Mongolian grill around. Great food and great show by the cooks. They make it look so easy. Overall a great experience, u definitely won't be making the wrong choice

the selection was great and we loved the smores they bring out to your table to make all the staff is friendly

This is a typical mongolian style bbq. You load up the raw meat, vegetables, and sauces and they cook it on a huge wok. I choose the same ingredients every time and love it. All you can eat at a reasonable price.

A more expensive version of Genghis Grill. But there is more variety and we went here a number of times and was never disappointed. The food and service was all excellent.

my wife and i have eaten here quite a bit and it never gets old. the wait staff is always pleasant and can't do enough for you ! the food is always good and it's pretty cool to watch the cooks work! in fact i"m on my way there saturday for lunch, well worth the trip from Kerrville!!

We had a 6:30 PM reservation, for a group of 18. About half of us were 10 minutes late, because of Saturday evening traffic. The manager was a jerk, and threatened to take away the table. Once we all arrived, we didn't see him again for the rest of the evening. After that, everything was great...service was good, the food was good, the price was right. Several in our group had been before, the rest of us were first-timers. We all agreed that we'll be back!

I've been coming to Hu Hot for a number of years. The service has ranged from adequate to excellent, but never had poor service. The food quality has consistently been very good to excellent. They have a good variety of meats and vegetables. The key to the best food on the customer side is plenty of sauce and/or oil. If you don't put enough of those in, the food will come out dry. After filling your bowls with meat, noodles and veggies, fill them almost to the brim with sauces. Then, tip those cooks well. They have the toughest job in the building. Finally sit and enjoy! Bon appetit!

I met my sons for lunch at Huhot at their urging. This was my first time here and I wasn't sure what to expect. The Huhot is located in a strip mall location but don't let that fool you. Since it was lunch time and very busy but we only waited about 8 minutes for a table. The host was great, he greeted us immediately. The waitress promptly took our drink order, since one of my sons had been there before she let him explain what we would be doing. For those of you that have never been to a Mongolian style restaurant, it is set up buffet style where you choose from several different meat/seafood choices, noodles and vegetables then add your choice of liquid seasonings such as soy sauce, garlic oil, wine, etc. You can make your meal as mild or HOT as you like. Once you have acheived your masterpiece, a chef cooks your food on a flat grill while you watch. The food cooks down a lot so I would recommend that you get two bowls to start. The only draw back would be that it's so good you just want more but it is so filling. We will definately be back and we're bringing our appetites!!

WOW! When you walk in, you instantly see the massive round grill where they cook the food. There are three or four hibachi chefs doing this incredible dance around the grill as they are cooking the food. There was an incredible selection of different raw foods to put in your bowl. It was fun assembling your dish. But the sauces really make this place! They have hundreds of combinations you can create with mild to tangy to hot sauces. It is incredible the amount of flavor they are able to keep in the food when cooking it. It only takes a few minutes for them to cook your food as you shuffle around the grill with all the other customers. Ordinarily it would be little annoying, but because it is such a unique experience, it actually makes it quite fun. The only complaint would be that it's a little loud in there. You will not be disappointed. It's a great place to take a date or just for a fun evening on the town.

I've been here before over three years ago and I can truly say it has not changed except the price. If you like to control your own destiny when it comes to food then this is the place to go. Besides being seated by very friendly staff your on your own meal with a selection of meat and seafood, you also pick your own veggies. Then its cooked on a flat iron thing in front of your eyes. Very tasty. Only drawback is you will have to sit in your car afterwards because you'll be to full to move.

Four of us met for dinner. Upon entry, the immediate ambiance is dive-esque. The menus are taped to the table top. The playlist was filled with alt-rock playing a tad too loud. The restrooms should be torn down to the studs and redone. A description included “a full bar”, and it is fine for beer and some booze, as long as you don’t want anything in it other than ice, because they couldn’t make a gin and tonic (no tonic). Our waitress seemed to be trying hard, but couldn’t remember anything once she left the table. Other than our written food order, we had to ask literally three times for our drinks and condiments (no hot mustard). Our food was okay (not fantastic), but because of COVID, you are no longer able to fill your bowl with what you want; you fill out an order sheet and someone else builds your bowl for you. I can’t fault the restaurant for this policy, but it yields an entirely different Mongolian Barbecue experience. $14.99 for a dinner bowl is way over the top. Will not return.

This was my first time at a Mongolian Grill. My sister walked me through the process. The buffett is the way to go! They have tons of foods for you to mix and match. There was an area with all types of meats and seafood, vegetables, noodles (tons of different types of noodles!), and sauces. You fill our bowls with all the raw food and sauce. You take it to the grill area and they cook it for your, right in front of you. The smell is awesome and the food is mouth watering. Please note that I highly recommend filling two bowls at a time. Also, use a lot of sauce, that way it all stays nice and moist.

You don't have to stick strictly to the menu. I order the teriyaki chicken. But, I have it on lo mien noodles instead of rice. Super!

Went with friends and even though the restaurant was busy, we were seated right away, the waiter was very helpful and professional and the food was amazing. Definitely will frequent there again.

We have eaten at other Huhots and expected it to be the same. It was disappointing instead. The food was cooked too long. All the sauce (flavor) was gone and the food was burned. It wasn't isolated. Every trip for every person was overcooked. If we had been new to this we would never try it again because you'd think that's how it was supposed to be. Maybe it was just because they were so busy they couldn't keep up and food was left too long.

We typically enjoy eating at HuHot. There are a ton a proteins and veggie options. We found the place to be pretty messy this trip, dirty tables and tons of food in the floor.hoping this was just a one off. We will be back again and hopefully it will get better!

I have visited this restaurant many times and every time it is like having a meal in paradise. For those that have not visited Huhot you will not be disappointed. You get to pick your meats including chicken and crab along with noodles and fresh vegetables. Your meal is cooked on huge gas grill and you get to watch them cook it right in front of you. I highly recommend this restaurant to all those visiting San Antonio. Service is always awesome.

Wide variety of meats, veggies and sauces make this place real good. You can add your own choice of items to the bowl and get it cooked to perfection! Lovely place especially for cold winter dinners.

2.0 out of 5 J D SAN ANTONIO, TX 05.02.2012 We visited Hu Hot Mongolian Grill on a week day, late afternoon when it was not too busy. Having enjoyed similar restaurants, I had been looking forward to visiting Hu Hot for some time. There was a good variety of food choices but some such as the snow peas could have been fresher. Again there was a nice selection of sauces but although it was stated that these were made fresh daily some were not very flavorful. I tasted each one separately as I filled my plate. Since one's choices are a very individual matter I couldn't say that my selection was representative but I didn't find this meal to be as good as I had anticipated. Also, we had to wait quite a while to get our check. And so, it will be a while before I go back.

We try to eat here every couple of months. I love this place. We have never had a bad experince of any kind. What is not to love? You have complete control over what goes into your Mongolian BBQ. The meats are frozen and thin sliced. There is an enormous selection of fresh vegetables and the oils and sauces are wonderful. The food is cooked right in front of you so your meal is steaming hot as you take it to your table. It is absolutely fabulous. The servers are friendly and courteous. And the manager always comes around to ensure you are enjoying your meal. I have had Mongolian in a dozen states and this place is second to none. Seating and service are very quick even when they are very busy. Try it - I am sure you will love it.

It is a good place for a change in San Antonio. Fun place my niece and nephew like to eat here they get to pick what is in there dish and watch it be cooked.

Nice Mongolian grill with lots of choices. You can load your bowl(s) up with a wide variety of meats, noodles, veggies, and sauce. Tip: put as much sauce in the bowl as you possibly can for the best flavor. Watch your food being grilled and then dig in to a piping hot plate of deliciousness. The rangoons were a little too heavy on the crab for my taste, but everything else has been great everytime we've dined here.

Wednesday night. HuHot is just like Genghis Grill, just not quite as clean looking. For $13, you fill bowls with meats and veggies and it's cooked on a giant flat grill. The opening salad was very good. A free bowl of rice also comes with your meal, even you've already added noodles to your entree. Overall, good food. You won't go away hungry. Very attentive service.

Terrific assortment of ingredients, and sauces. You can fill more than one bowl at a time and go back for seconds. The accompanying salad is good. Pick your proteins and then add all your vegetables. Desserts are nice.

People seems to be all shouting above their normal talking level in this restaurant. We sat down next to a family with 3 teenagers who seems to be argumentative with their parents during the entire dinner. Food is decent, but lacks atmosphere to really enjoy the food.

Good stuff! Love how they thinly slice the meat! Wish desperately that they had shrimp! Be sure to grab two bowls as the veggies, noodles, and meat shrink down a lot! We had to make two trips because we didn't read the sign that says to add 5 ladles of sauce. Our first trip ended with pretty dry food! We did start with the krab Rangoons and the egg drop soup. The soup wasn't the tastiest and the Rangoons were okay. The service was very efficient and friendly. Just try to not sit in a booth by the window in August (even at dinnertime). It's tooooo HuHOT!!!

a fun experience to pick out your food, take it to a huge grill where two chefs toss it before the crowd then give it back to you. All you can eat, many meat, vegetable and noodle choices.

We loved Huhot and been a loyal customers for years. I told some friends to meet at Huhot and it was their first time at the restaurant. My friend went and got his plate and his wife order some wontons, we order the check and they got charge foe 2 dinners. My friend was the only that went and got food from the buffet or whatever they call. His wife tried one time and only time His food form his plate and got charge for a whole dinner plate of $14.00 dollars Very unfair I think She didn’t try to take advantage or anything! Very unfair and very rude waitress So if you go and you don’t plan to eat be sure don’t even close to your companions plate or you get cheese for a whole dinner

I really like this place, You pick whatever ingredients, as many as you like and add sauces. The number of variations is mind-boggling. The service is as fast as you like since you are basically preparing your food with the except of the grilling part.

This restaurant is awesome!!their ingredints are fresh. You can put any ingredints you want and different sauces. It's also fun to watch the chief cooks. Will denefintately recommand to friends!!

This was my very first time in a Mongolian restaurant, and my family and I were thrilled such that we had to make repeat trip. We had the opportunity of virtually building up our meals item by item, before handing over to the team of chef standings around a hot plate. With an inexhaustible supply of shrimps, beef, crabs, lobsters, and so much more. You get to pick from an array of veggies, seasoning, oils, etc. What better way of deciding how your food should taste. I strongly recommend this location for everyone who happens to be in this location.

It was my first time to a Mongolian Grill, so everything was new for me and my family. First impressions were good, we all thought the food was decent and we had a good time. We went on a Friday night and the place was busy, but no wait. We were immediately seated and the server was quick to come over and take our drink order. A choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup is included with the meal, and they came quickly in a good size portion. Once we finished our soup, we went to a long L shaped double sided cold bar, picked up a bowl, then worked our way down by meats, seafood, noodles, then vegetables of all sorts. The only notable portion choice that I didn’t see was shrimp, but there were mussels, crab, tilapia, and calamari. Each of my family filled one bowl full of food, then turned the corner and chose sauces — dozens of them — with suggestions noted above on different combinations for different tastes. Once you have the sauces, you enter a line around a huge heavy metal griddle with a hole in the middle, where several grillers take your bowl, dump it on the griddle, then work it over with heavy spatulas - a fun diversion to watch your own food being cooked instead of sitting at the table wondering where it is. The line moves slowly around the circle, and they plate up your food as you reach the end so you can take it to your table to eat. Our kids liked it, and the food was decent — you can’t really complain since you pick out the ingredients and spices. Most people were getting two bowls per trip to the griddle, but we only chose one - it was a normal meal sized if piled to the top, but it’s all you can eat, so you can always go back and get more or something different if your first self composed combo doesn’t work out.

This place is so good. Large variet of fresh meat, veggies and sauce. The foodnos cooked in front of you which offers a meat dining experience. Nice staff

My family and I had tried out another Mongolian restaurant in town, and having been a little disappointed with it's selection and quality wanted to try out another place. HuHot has an awesome selection of meats, seafood, veggies, and sauces!! I really liked the way they categorized the sauces so it made it easier to flavor your food without destroying it! We will return to this place! The only downside is that it does tend to get really crowded, making wait times longer for your food to cook-- but very minor... I might would just try to plan my meals here between major meal times!

It is all you can eat and no take home unless it's an appetizer or dessert. It is also do it yourself you pick what you want in a cafeteria style line then watch them prepare your food The food was great as well as the drinks. I highly recommend you try this place.

I work right around the corner so I'll frequent this place quite often. Today was probably the worst experience I've ever had. The cook completely messed up my order and got it mixed with the person next to me. When I complained to the staff they just said "Hey it happens"....then I had to go back in line and wait for another 15 minutes so that he could attempt to make my meal again. By this time my colleagues had already started their meals without me. Not sure if it's worth trying this place again after that horrible customer service

Fantastic atmosphere, decent prices, the chefs are pretty cool usually, decent service, self serve all you can eat, build your own meal. Take a work trip here for good food with decent prices. Tons of options and lots of variety, always fresh!

We went for lunch and it was great. Sure, it takes a while to get your food cooked but it's worth the wait. If you're considering getting the place, it's worth it. Enjoy.

We've eaten at Huhot quite a few times and have figured out what meats, vegatables and sauces work best for us. We both like spicy foods and really like the Habanero sauce. We like to start with two bowls to get a good portion the first time. Some items like spinach cook down to a small amount so I usually fill a bowl with that one. Also, get enough sauce in each bowl so your food has a lot of flavor. Go easy on the oily ones or your food will be oily. Another tip, they usually have a gift card discount around Christmas. For example, buy a $100 gift card and get a $20 free. We got it and used it ourselves and considered it a discount.

I have been to this place many many times and not once have I ever bee disappointed. I mean, how can you? you are the one that chooses your own food! The choices of meats, vegetables and noodles and oh my gosh sauces are endless! The food is made right there in front of you and put on your plate piping hot. This would actually be a really great place to bring the kids because they could pick and choose what they want and then get to see it cooked right in front of them. how exciting! I've never ordered dessert but I see that they have a little Smore's oven set up that they bring to your table. that could be way too much fun!

I will set the scene for you. It was day 5 of a 7 day vacation and I was very sick of fast food and I needed something green. So I google the local places and found a different restaurant a day before visiting Hu Hot. The other mongolian grill was easily one of the worst experiences of my dining carrier. I am very very happy to say that the local Hu Hot restored my faith in Rapid City Restaurants. I was greeted warmly. All of their cold food was being kept cold. Staff was careful to not touch food once it was cooked and used gloves when handling other foods. My rice was nice and hot, my drink was refilled regularly each time. I want to thank Hu Hot for a wonderful dining experience. My full time job and my background is in the restaurant industry and I was very pleased with my visit.

Huhot was a favorite post-test lunch-time spot for our crew of med students. It's a buffet of fresh ingredients that you combine in bowls (I recommend using 2 bowls per trip: one of veggies, one of protein) and splatter with a mix of sauces. If it comes out bad, it's your own fault; plus, you can just go back and try again. Being from Dallas, I've also had Genghis Grill many times, but must say that Huhot is a much better bang for your buck. Go hungry, if you're going to try it.

Friends introduced me to HuHot's some months ago and just about every trip into San Antonio puts us there. I've been to several Mongolian grills, but HuHot's tops the list for me. The selection of meats, vegetables, sauces and noodles will satisfy anyone and they are constantly being replenished to insure freshness. Mix your meats, noodles and veggies and ladle on a combination of sauces, then take it to the grill and it will be cooked before your eyes. It's quite a sight to see! And service has always been on point. One word of caution--go early to either lunch or dinner, especially during the weekends. The line to the grill really stacks up during peak hours; I've spent as much as 20 minutes in line. But your patience will be rewarded! And, unlike most Mongolian grills, it's all-you-can-eat at HuHot's. Give them a try; you'll be glad you did!

Still a good selection of meats, seafood and vegetables. The area around the sauces was a bit messy but have to remember that some parents let their young children get their own sauces. Plenty of hot sauces and oils plus a good quantity of milder choices. Friendly efficient staff. Salad does still come with the meal but we had to ask.

I’m on the road constantly and hit an old favorite or new Mongolian grill at least once a week. My weekly cravin’ directed my attention to the HuHot sign off the freeway, so I whipped in, ready for a fix. I should have turned around as soon as the door closed behind me. This place was set up similar to Khan’s, an establishment I only tried once, for good reason. But, I figured it might be worth a try so I cruised the selections, just to be sure, and grabbed a couple of bowls. They also had an enormous selection of sauces, so I was set to engage in a new experience. The first thing I noticed was how small the white onions were cut. And then I found the green onions, and they were also cut wrong. Someone must’ve tossed the white ends (the best part); all that was left were the hollow green stalks. The carrots were also shredded much too small. When I hit the sauces, I could not find hot oil. I should’ve shut the whole thing down at this point. I can’t eat Asian without hot oil. I did find some hot lookin’ stuff, and piled that on. The only garlic they had was garlic oil. I can’t eat a stir fry without crushed garlic, but I scraped the bottom of the bucket and managed to get some garlic, but it was coarsely granulated. I knew better; I should have punted and gone somewhere else. The food was bland and the garlic tasted artificial. I went back through again and tried other sauces, but this just resulted in a mighty strange flavor and an equally terrible aftertaste. I never got the fried rice I was promised, but I couldn’t wait to get out of this place. It was awful. The onions were cut all wrong, and disappeared after cooking. There was no crushed garlic and no hot oil. What a mess. And it was overpriced. Steer clear of this disaster if you prefer a real Mongolian grill experience. It was a trainwreck.

This is my favorite Mongolian Grill. The food on the buffet is fresh with the meat sliced thin and still frozen. Lots of noodles and fresh veggies so is suitable for all diets. My family had gluten free people and corn free people which can be challenging but they are very accommodating and will grill with the oil we bring. You get to watch them cook you meal on the grill which can be very entertaining. Unlimited trips to the buffet for a reasonable price. We always go twice so we can have seconds of the flavors we enjoy most.

The place is so-so for a Mongolian barbeque. If you are looking to eat a lot, it serves all you can eat. However, be prepared for a place that is noisy with uncontrolled kids running around among tables. The tables do need thorough cleaning as they are all tacky with the feel of oily grime on it. I do see the bus boy come around to clear of the table, and then take a kitchen rag to wipe it off - who knows how clean that rag is. The vent over the bbq grill needs to have a bigger draw to get the smokiness out of the air. Unlike other Mongolian restaurants with a variety of very tasty sauces, the sauces they provided are all TOO salty - so be careful how much you use. The wait staff are all somewhat lazy about coming to the tables to refill up the drinks. All I can say is that if you just want to load up after a day or so of starving yourself, this is a place to go, but as for ambiance or anything else, I think you will be greatly disappointed.

There are plenty of options with all the meats, seafood and vegetables offered. The sauces and oils are well labeled and are very good. Service is about what you get at a buffet. Rice, drinks and removal of dishes about covers the service. We didn't look at the menu because we had been here before but were surprised that soup or salad no longer came with the meal. There were plenty of good choices on the line so we definitely did not go away hungry.

We haven't been in awhile and decided to stop in for lunch. We always try to go right at opening so it is not as crowded and that worked well today as there was no wait to get the food cooked. We also ordered fried rice for the kids and a drink for the bar. Over all, very good as usual but they didn't have pork which is my go to for this place. Instead they had turkey which I had too much on Thanksgiving. I went with Chicken which was quite good. Note: mid year and end of year they have a gift card special where you get 20%, I think. We buy the gift card and use it throughout the year. Like getting the tip for free.

My girlfriend and I eat here frequently because the food is amazing and the service is excellent. You create your own meal by grabbing an empty bowl (or two!), adding meats, noodles (optional because rice is served at the table), veggies, and sauces. We concocted some uber delicious dishes during one of our first visits and we haven't really changed our respective formulas since then. Tasty food aside, the fact that you can go for seconds, thirds, fourths, etc. makes us very satisfied returning customers. We highly recommend HuHot!

I took my niece which I have not seen in over 26 years and we decided to have a Asian style dinner. I told her how to go to the counter get her two bowls and then to choose all of her ingredients it was a phenomenal stir-fry my wife and I along with my niece had dinner... for over three hours just talking about old times new times and current times we had a great time the food was great just right successful! Thank You breanne

I love eating at HuHot! I have been here with my kids, and alone with hubby, and either way, it is terrific food. Good selection of protein sources, including tofu, and an excellent selection of healthy carbs: bean sprouts, cabbage, spinach, mango, broccoli, pineapple, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms... There is a similar restaurant in town, but I much prefer this one because of the control you have in creating the sauce you want and because of the way you get to watch the food cooked on the grill. It's an amazing deal at lunch time and still a good value at dinner. The spicy sour soup is my favorite of all time. I always order this soup if a restaurant serves it, and HuHot's is the best! We have enjoyed good service every visit and especially tonight, when our waiter helped get us in and out in a hurry. Very prompt with the bill and kindly covered my soup with a plate as he delivered it while I was in line at the grill. Can't wait to eat there again!

Food was excellent!! No MSG here! Pick your meats and/or fish in one bowl, veggies in the other, top it off with different sauces and take your selection to the cooks. Food is fresh every time!! Cheesecake was awesome too!!

HuHot as been one of our stops for several years. Twice a year they were offering gift cards where you get 20% in additional gift cards for your purchase. For us, it's a no brainer to buy them and use throughout the year. For this trip, we arrived before they opened and waited a few minutes. I like being there early so it's not too crowded, food isn't picked over and you can get your food cooked fairly quickly. We come often enough to know exactly what we want and how many scoops of which sauce. I saw a rather negative overall review as I was preparing to write this one and was wondering if it is the same place. The one comment about all the sauces are too salty was puzzling. Having stopped using all added salt due to BP I am more aware of salt now but haven't really noticed what the review mentioned. Maybe it's because I only use the Khan's revenge (habanero) and Kung Pao Wow which are both spicy. My concern is more the other sauces are too sweet for my taste. This trip, I went to get my food while my wife got the kiddos seated and drinks ordered. Once my food was ready, she went and got hers. This trip we decided on chicken tenders for the kiddos rather than preparing a plate. Worked out great. Waitress and cook staff were very fast and friendly as always.

I have no complaints about service or cleanliness of the serving and dining area - they were very good. I would like to see more meat and vegetable choices - they are a bit limited. The oil and sauce choices were very good and I love having complete control over the flavor profile of my Mongolian BBQ. When it comes to value that depends on what level of glutton you are. We are one - pass diners and the $30.00 price point for two is way too steep. If you make multiple passes to the grill then the value improves but we just can't stuff of faces with more than one large plate of food. It would be nice if they could offer a discounted rate for single visits through the buffet and grill. But it is good enough to warrant repeat visits.

First time there food was great a lot of noise very entertaing service not the greatest but the were busy we may be back

Took my mother-in-law there for Mother's day on Monday, I had never been there before, but my husband and I love Genghis Grill, I read good reviews on this place so I thought lets give this place a try. Disappointed in the selection of meat and vegetables. First I had to find a clean bowl, after going through about 7 bowls I went to the meat, your choice of Chicken,Beef,Pork and Imitation crab and never refilled the mussels, the container was sitting there empty they never refilled it. I was worried how the beef and chicken were mixed together at times in the container and no one ever cleaned the area, so yeah there was raw meat mixed together. Small selection of veggies, nothing had been wiped down or the area cleaned so some of the veggies were mixed with other veggies, go over to the sauces and you'd find raw meat floating on top on the sauce. I was disappointed in how the place wasn't cleaned and everyone that worked there was pretty much standing in the back corner of the room. I will not be back again.

I've heard so many positive comments on this place- decided to try for myself- the guys cooking my food were amazing - it's like an art to the madness. A keeper for Mongolian food!!

we had the mongolian BBQ and egg rolls. The food was good, but not outstanding. For the price, the food is good. We enjoyed the meal but it was not my favorite meal in San Antonio. The staff was pleasant and they were quick to fill your drinks and meet your needs.

It is our first time. It is an excellent culinary concept. The food is delicious and well prepared food with fresh products, good combination of sauces and experts cookers We'll come back with friends Outstanding!!!!

Friends from San Antonio introduced us to this and we thoroughly enjoyed it. You pick your desired meat and vegetables from a large "buffet" of uncooked food (put meat and veg on separate plate) and then get in line for the cooks to stir fry these on a huge wok. You then take your (new/clean) cooked plate of food from the server and return to your table. You can go back through the process multiple times. This is especially fun with a group.

This is a typical Mongolian style BBQ restaurant. The meal taste as good as the ingredients to combine. Just make sure to take two bowls one for the meat and one for the vegetables. And then put in at least five levels of sauces and oils or your food will be dry. I love this type of restaurant because I can put all the foods that are like together.

I had pictured something more like a Tepanyaki grill set up, but HuHot is actually a buffet of raw ingredients that are then cooked on a huge communal flat top while you wait. My kids liked it a lot, even though there food was somewhat burnt. Soup and salad apparently comes with the meal, but we weren't offered either until we had our entree's in front of us. I did not understand the "all you can eat" aspect to the thing. I thought I was being charged by the bowl, I could swear that's what my waiter told us. Anyway we had eggrolls, which were ok, and 4 reasonable sized bowls for 4 people. Our final bill was over $70.00 (iced tea to drink). I would not call this a great value. Plan to stuff yourself, and ask for the soup and salad if you have any hope of getting it.

In a strip mall, so parking is plentiful. This restaurant appeals to the young crowd...and the military who enjoyed Mongolian BBQ overseas! Open, large room with a bar area and a couple of TVs. Seating is uncrowded, there are usually plenty of servers, but the main activity is the self-service buffet and large grill. The buffet is well stocked...in fact, overstocked...with meats vegetables, and many, many sauces. Most folks take two bowls through and fill them to overflowing. The line moves quickly and the food goes from frozen to cooked in a flash. The restaurant got a 96 on it's last inspection so they are doing quite well!! Drinks are cheap and plentiful. This is a great place for Mongolian, but that really is the only entree on the menu. There are a couple of appetizers (Spring rolls and Crab rangoon) and desserts, but most fill up wiht one or two trips to the grill. Beats fast food by a mile and it's easy to sit and talk with friends. Good spot, that fills a niche!

My wife and I fasted and waited until we were hungry for lunch. We arrived around 4:30 PM! The selection of the meats, fish, vegetables, but especially the sauces,---wow, we loved it. The cooks make no big noises at their huge gas-fired grill which is obviously hot - our meal was well-cooked and spicy. We played it smart and chose 2 bowls for our platter. That was the wise choice to make as everything was well cooked and temperature hot. You cannot make a mistake as everything you choose is cooked to order. The salad and soup before the meal were delightful, as well. Arrive hungry and leave well-fed! This is definitely a great experience!

Picture this: several buffet tables of uncooked meats and vegetables. You get to fill several bowls with items to be cooked over a Mongolian Grill while you watch. The best part is the number of options to flavor the meal. While they offer suggestions, I love to play with my favorite flavors to create a delicious treat. Eat as much or as little as you like; the buffet is all the same price.

This is like Genghis Grill, but nowhere near as good. We stopped here on a road trip based solely on TripAdvisor reviews. We were sorely disappointed. The place is filthy, beginning with the men's room, where among other faults was the absence of paper hand towels. The buffets are also dirty, as is the floor, as are the counter and the grill. It was all just gross. Sometimes good food can redeem other sins. Not here. All the protein except the mussels and the unlabeled fish were frozen. The vegetables were chopped either too large or too small. At least there was the option of gluten free noodles, because there was no option of brown rice for those of us who are health conscious. There were no eggs like they have at Genghis. I really missed that. I will say the array of sauces was interesting, at least in theory. I chose the hottest one. It wasn't all that hot. And then the cattle carousel: a circular queue of waiting sheep lining up heaping bowls of raw food waiting to be seared on that vast, hot, nasty wheel of cast iron or something akin, as the would-be cooks shout insults at each other for entertainment. The flavor of my concoction was tolerable and not especially delicious, even though I'd doused it with three of the sauces. I love hot and sour soup, so I was happy that a choice of that or egg drop came with the meal. This was heavy on the sour, with enough vinegar to dye a dozen easter eggs or wash a several windows. I sent it away and asked for the egg drop, which tasted of dishwater. It also looked like dishwater. Hm. If it looks and sounds like a duck... The service wasn't all that good, either. We had to keep hunting for our server for one thing or another. This lackluster, somewhat disgusting experience kills a $30 bill for two, and is just not worth it. We would've been much happier sharing a large bowl of hot and sour soup and an order of lettuce wraps at Pei Wei, and that's exactly what we'll do next time.

Line was long, food was okay. Dumplings subpar, egg rolls okay, Rangoon was good. While in line one of the cooks winged a plastic bottle at me. Not sure where he was aiming but barely missed me. He apologized more than once and sincerely, but really? Bonehead move in a crowded restaurant.

I had never been to something like this before at first I wasn't to fond of getting up to take my own food to cook but once I saw all the various food options and sauces it made sense and it was pretty cool to see the cooks/chefs make your food. Plus the lines move fast.

We hadn't been here in awhile and my son suggested it for lunch. I'm very happy to tell you the food and choices were amazing. Service was very good. We will be back. Kind of busy at 12:30 on a Saturday but not that long of a wait. Great place bring your appetite.

I’ll start by saying the food was decent but when we were ready to leave and asked for a to go box they said we couldn’t take our food because of COVID which makes no sense! I wouldn’t go back for this reason alone. We paid and had a lot left but yet they won’t let us take it!

This is a great restaurant because everyone can get what they want. There is a wide variety of ingredients available to put in your bowl and several different sauces to add for flavor. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only criticism I would have for this restaurant is the price. On a Saturday night, it is $12.99 per person. You do get a choice of soup with your meal but the beverage is separate. It makes for a rather expensive meal. Other than that, I would recommend it.

I always stop by the HuHot Mongolian Grill when I am in San Antonio. The food is always excellent. The egg rolls and other appetizers are excellent. I always eat to much when I go there. Love This Place!!!

I love love love Hu Hot! Great food, and great sauces to add to your plate. However service can be a bit slow and as a true seafood lover, they only have squid on certain days. So ask beforehand. Other than that, come starving! :)

A wide variety of fresh ingredients make this grill a nice experience. The dinner all-you-can-eat buffet grill will run about $33 for two with tip, and is worth it. The only variable is the cook, who can either leave the ingredients to sit on the grill and fry to a crisp, or rotate them as in a wok for full flavor and even cooking. We experience more of the latter on our trips there and would recommend trying them out. If they don't cook it as you wish, you can just have them try again. The last time we went in the nice waitress fixed me up a homemade ginger ale, an item that used to be on the menu but was taken off a while back. That's going the extra mile for the customer!

I've noticed that most of these style of places are relatively similar... this one doesn't stand out in any incredible way but it definitely does not disappoint. Loads of options available, fast, efficient, and skilled cooking prevented my spicy dish from mixing with others. Even when the lunch rush came in, the one chef working was steady churning plates out. Our waiter was very courteous and fast and I will definitely be bringing my family back. This is a solid venue.

Here you pick your raw meats, veggies, and sauces, then they cook it on a huge wok while you watch. Everything is fresh and tasts great. I come here everytime I'm in town on business.

We happened to just pass by, and thought we'd try it out. the place looks a little dated, but the food was great. Most Mongolian grills give you a few items that the chef can grill - chicken, shrimp, beef, noodles and vegetables. the choices here were spectacular ... all the previous mentioned items, and mussels! Lots of different veggies, and numerous sauces to add to the food. Service was terrific. My beverage was refiled constantly. I thinkl I paid around $10. And the cooking - was like a show! the cooks (they worked for awhile, and then switched) flipped the food, showed their skills with the cooking unbtensils, and were very friendly.

We enjoy HuHot about once or twice a quarter with friends. The drinks and appetizers are very good and the selections of meats/seafood, vegetables and sauces are excellent. Service is also pleasant without being overbearing. It's a typical San Antonio informal evening -- without the salsa!

This place was different than any place I'd been before. It was very good. I think the more you go, the more you figure out the type of sauces you like. You go through a buffet and get meats and vegetables and then you pick a sauce or mixture of sauces and spoon that over your bowl, then walk through a line where a cook throws it on a circular hibachi grill. It's an all you can eat buffet.

I went tonight, paid $12 for an unlimited bowl and walked out full! I can't do that at other one trip to the bar Mongolian grills. There wasn't a long line at the grill and the bar was constantly being tended to. I will be a repeat customer!

Visiting my sister and brother in law I was taken to Hu Hot and was really impressed. The choices of sauces for cooking were great. I preferd the Hot and sour mixed with garlic. Service was quick even when busy. I had never been to this style of cooking and don't know how to explain other than you pick your ingrediants and sauce and they grill fry/steam it. Loved it.

Unique style of eating- assembling your dish is a great experience, adding meat noodles and veggies then sauce and seasoning- all they do is cook it for you on the gigantic grill- it is all you can eat so......be hungry or it may not be worth it. If you season the food wrong it may end up not being all you hoped for but you can try again and again, the way it works...... the flavor is really all you!! Lots of choices in terms of meat, veggies and seasoning liquids. Would go back!!

Not as many types of meats as other Mongolian Grills I've been to but by far more choices of sauces. They really need one person whose job is just to wipe down all the counter spaces. I don't know how many times I stuck to the surfaces, which isn't a good feeling.

We enjoyed this meal. You can make it healthy if you choose to and eat as much as you want. They have multiple sauces to try, I liked the house sauce. The chefs were very impressive. It was relatively quick due to the way they prepare your food.

First time visited a Mongolian Cuisine... Options were plentiful . IN fact I was confused with so many good options. The food being grilled/prepared right in front of your eyes with all ingradients chosen by you8rself was a first time experince . Had been here with a couple of co workers. They were on target. they jknew what they enjoyed. When i enquired i was told you need some real experimenting to find out what you enjoy in this place. It will take a couple of visits to find out your real taste. Its worth visiting again and again . A wonderful experience overall even though i could not figure out what i really enjoyed

Great fun, good quality, and the taste is up to you. Every customer pays the same price, so best to go when you are really hungry. As you mix your own meats and vegetables and sauces, it's easy to create something bad if you're not careful. But it is a lot of fun, and a good way to learn about new tasty sauce combinations. The meats and vegetables are surprisingly good quality. The decor is quite plain and dark, with most diners intent on consuming their creations. The teppan grill is impressive, with occasional flare-up by the occasionally showy cooks. The emphasis is not on atmosphere or friendliness, but on the food. A good family experience or an adventurous date night, probably not so good for a business lunch. They have a bar with several draft beers available. Desserts and appetizers are also available for extra cost, but why get those when the central food is good and plentiful?

The food is great. The selection is awesome. Good service and atmosphere. Worth every penny.

The set up here is a great big flat top grill where you take your selected bowl of raw items to be cooked before your very eyes. Our food was over cocked with many burnt bits, too many burnt bits. The Buffet is frozen thin slices meats, veggies swimming in water (some canned, some fresh, some frozen). The rice noodles were not soaked, just thrown in some water straight out the bag. Over all not super, and pricey. Maybe just hit them on a bad night.

Would not be my first choice , however we were hungry and decided to try Huhot since I had never tried a Mongolian Grill. I would recommend - trying the recipe cards, and sharing. Use TWO bowls one for the meats and vegetables ingredients and the second bowl for the sauces.

Dishes you create with fresh ingredients. And it is a buffet so you ccan experiment with different vegetables, meats, and sauces. The only draw back is you smell like the place for a few hours after dining...but a small price to pay for a great eating experience.

I have never been to a restaurant like this before......you pick everything you want in your meal.....there are plenty of choices and sauces to choose from....you watch them prepare your meal right in front of you.......everything is piping hot when you get your plate back...the wait staff is very friendly and attentive..........and you can go back for seconds....I love it....

A nice place to have the grilled food. A nice selection of sea food and varieties in sauces. Yummy to the Tummy.

Everything was excellent!! The food was great and the service was even better. We enjoyed ourselves.

All you can eat and the choices for what to put in your bowl were numerous! If you've never been to this type restaurant let me explain...you go through the line and put whatever noodles. meat, veggies and sauce you wanted to be grilled for you. You watch it be grilled right in front of you and then you take your bowl back to your table to enjoy! We didn't order any desserts or extras so I can't speak to those but our server was very helpful and we loved, loved, loved the food! We'll definitely be back!

This is a great Mongolian style restaurant. The service is always good, and the food is exactly what you want it to be.

The Huhot is different from your normal Buffet. You make your own meal. You have a selection of meat, noodles, vegetables, and sauces to make your own dish just the way you want it. After going through and selecting what you want you head to the grill where its cooked in front of you and you're given a plate. Its $8 for lunch but you can go back and have as many combination of whatever you like as much as you want. I suggest small meals so you can taste a bit of everything.

Eating at HuHot is a fun experience. People should try it just to see the artistry of the chefs behind the counter. Its fun being able to create what you eat. The food is good & their crab rangoon desserts are really delicious.
Food is fine, bartender will scam a few bucks though
Raw area was relatively clean, considering that customers have their hands all over the food. The meats looked fresh. The cook was fast and was fairly good at cleaning the cooking slab. The one disappointing thing though, is that the bartender is a bit of a scammer. A friend of mine suggested we try this place out yesterday (sunday 16 Sep 2013) for lunch. We ordered exactly the same thing, but his bill came out to be $2 and change more than my bill. I guess he expected we would not notice. When confronted, the waiter blamed the error on "the computer" and didn't even offer to correct the issue. Not impressed at all.
