Still Delicious

By Jane M |

My husband and I used to live in Seattle and we frequently ate breakfast at Hudson so we took our friends there on this visit. this place is out of the way in an industrial district but people come from all over Seattle for their meals. The brisket omelet was as delicious as we remembered. It's huge and stuffed with lots of yummy brisket and cheese. Neither of us are ever able to eat the whole thing so if we can't take leftovers we share one. (But we prefer to take some home and get to eat it again). Their chicken fried steak is also good and our friend enjoyed his pancakes as well. When you're there check out the old photos on the walls. Lots of old Seattle and crazy motorcycle pictures.

Our once a year visit!!!!

By Gord&RoxanneFromEdmonton |

We found this restaurant one time when travelling from Sea-Tac to downtown Seattle. Since then we have visited on each visit to Seattle on the day before Thanksgiving. Shannon was our server this year and she was fantastic. The food is fresh and the serving sizes are really good. It is hard to make a choice on what to eat as all the food is so good. When we are back in Seattle in November of 2016 we will once again return to the restaurant. Keep up the great job.......

Awesome Eats

Went there on a date night after not going there for some time. It certainly didn't disappoint. The food was excellent and atmosphere very comfortable. We can't wait to get back there and have more home cooked food. 21+ only and there is free-wifi. Full bar and diner. Even has outdoor seating.

Awesome breakfast!

Stopped by on a whim! What a find! Incredible breakfast. Would love to try lunch or dinner. Service fast friendly and attentive. Definitely will be a repeat when I am in the area.

Good, but not quite as good as I anticipated

After reading several online reviews raving about this little place in Sodo/Georgetown that I drive by occasionally, I was eager to give it a try. Took my old brunch pal out Sunday and we gave it a good test. It's technically a bar, which means no one under 21 allowed, and that's a good thing for a couple of Sunday brunchers who do not enjoy the company of noisy children. No offense to kids or their parents. My friend is somewhat disabled and doesn't fare well in booths. There were no regular tables available inside, so we opted for the patio. Even on a Sunday morning, the traffic on East Marginal Way is loud, and it wasn't drowned out by the classic rock music. But we coped. The service is friendly and efficient. Our waitress had a great sense of humor which played well to my friend's funny comments. That's always a plus. Online reviews raved about the bloody Marys and the chicken fried steak, and he ordered both. I enjoyed a very good Mimosa and ordered the breakfast tacos. The bloody Mary is accompanied by a small glass of beer. Nice touch if you like beer. I tried a bite of the chicken fried steak but got all batter, which was indeed tasty and kicked up with spiciness. The meat is described on the menu as being hand-pounded. The "white" gravy looked more orange than the traditional white. I didn't get many details from my friend, who deemed it good, just not what he expected. I'm thinking the gravy has some cayenne in it too? My breakfast tacos were good, a combination of eggs, sausage and salsa rolled in two small flour tortillas, topped with dollops of sour cream and chopped green onion. Tasty. Accompanied by hash browns, thankfully missing the chunks of herbs and stems that some people add to potatoes, but they would have been much better had they been hot. My friend's eggs were also cold. I'm sure the fact that we were sitting outside on a not too warm day contributed, but we didn't waste time digging into our food and parts of it just weren't hot. The coffee was somewhat better than I expected, but over all, I found Hudson to be good, just not as good as I'd hoped. Might try again for lunch when we can eat inside, away from the traffic and hopefully get our meals while they're still hot. Fun, working man type place and I'll give it another shot.

Hidden Gem known probably mostly to the locals

On of the enjoyable things benefits of having a son living in the urban Seattle, is the opportunity to try some out of the way restaurants the average tourist would not even know were there. Such is the case of the Hudson Restaurant. Secluded away in greater western Seattle, this gem of a restaurant is very popular with the locals and I am sure not on any tourist maps as a place to try. We stopped by for brunch on Saturday August 29th about 11am. The place was filled (although not very large to begin with) but too rainy to sit out on the patio. The restaurant generous provide a carafe of coffee for those waiting for a table and in no time at all we were seated. Our waitress was spunky and full of fun, and seemed to enjoy working in this small busy atmosphere. We tried both vegetarian and traditional "chicken fried steak" and both were impressive in taste and seasoning. In addition, we had a sampling of the grits and shrimp, as well as the deep fried French toast. All items were very well prepared, and we walked away from the table satiated and with smiles on our faces. The is a true Seattle establishment, where tattoos are abundant, laughter contagious and the variety of the human spirit evident at every table. Thank you for allowing this Montanan to share in the culture and wonderful food. I will be back.

Great breakfast on day off

By Pam L |

Had a great breakfast here after a decision made while hungry to try the IHOP at Southcenter because it was close. Wisely left the IHOP and b-lined it to this place that I've been meaning to try. Had the Hudson special and added bacon. Eggs were perfectly over easy and the hashbrowns have a seasoning that it unique and good. Want to go back and try the biscuits and gravy.

21 and up ONLY!

Very fun, terrific dishes but make sure everyone in your party is 21+. Lots of comfort food favorites.

Delicious

By IslaAnne |

This place is cozy dimly lit restaurant without distracting TVs. It’s a good place for couples as you can talk. It’s a hole in the wall place and nostalgic - off the beaten path. They have great soft background music. The food is a lot and you will say “wow” when it is placed in front of you. And, ohhhh so delicious - lamb burgers on Friday’s only. The burger isn’t “lamby” - what I mean is it isn’t “gamey”. It tastes delicious juicy yummy. Also, their stroganoff is so delicious as you can really taste the wine. The servers are very attentive and friendly. Definitely will be returning.

Must Eat

This is a must eat. Great breakfast and lunch. Great casual atmosphere. Staff is awesome and prices are fair. Awesome burger and fries.

Local breakfast

By George Y |

This is an interesting place for breakfast in a very industrial section of SODO. I had a hearty delicious breakfast surrounded by an all male cast of characters from slackers to roughnecks to railmen to businessmen. It’s a place with character and simple choices, done well. Service was prompt and friendly. It is definitely a local place and you might feel you are getting sized up a bit, but it’s fine.

Great place for lunch or after work

By LSUTraveller |

Good place to stop for a sip after work, but a great place for lunch. Wide menu variety. Great service staff. Fish&chips, burger, avocado salad, and sandwiches were all very tasty. Look forward to returning to this place.

Finally made it to Hudson's, and weren't disappointed!

By Lissa M |

Hudson's is in a very cool old brick building in South Seattle, and we've driven past it many times. Each time, we say "we should check them out." We finally made it! We were helping friends in West Seattle, so came for breakfast. I had a wonderful scramble, with spicy sausage and green onions and blue cheese scrambled up with the eggs, set next to a mound of crispy hash brown potatoes. My husband had the chicken fried steak and it was excellent. Portions are huge! I love the atmosphere, comfortable and cozy, and the original brickwork and woodwork and iron-framed windows give it that old-time feel. Our server was friendly and there when we needed her, which is always a positive for any restaurant. The restaurant We enjoyed our visit so much, we plan to come back soon for dinner and a beer. As a side note, they currently have the rarely seen Bob's Brown Ale by Georgetown Brewing on tap... when it's gone, it's gone, so get it while you can! Visited on May 22, 2015

Wow!!!

By D0000D |

We have driven by Hudsons many times. It is in a really great old brown brick building that first caught our eye (located in the south Seattle industrial area). We finally made it here for breakfast. I had the chicken fried steak and it was very good. The fried coating was very crispy and the gravy was quite tasty. Lately I've been trying chicken fried steak everywhere we go for breakfast and I have to say that Hudsons is tied for first place right now (the other contender is the Old Mill Cafe in Plain WA; just in case you are on a similar quest ;-). The atmosphere is cozy with an old time feel and our server was very nice and friendly. It's so good here that we may come back for dinner and a beer later today :-) They currently have the rarely seen Bob's Brown Ale by Georgetown Brewing on tap!

One of my favorites

By Shawn H |

A little out of the way but well worth the drive. Their brunch is delicious. The best chicken fried steak in Seattle. And the bloody mary comes with a miller beer back. Perfect! Another favorite is the biscuits and gravy. I love eating here. Be warned if you're a family. No children under 21 allowed. It is a bar and they don't allow kids in, even on the patio.

Takes you back to a simpler time.

By tazman757 |

Located in a very industrial area The exterior is a great old red brick building, with a lot of windows. The interior has a U shaped counter in the middle of the room with tables around it. Everything was clean and well kept. I had a "Brisket omelet" with hash browns and toast. The brisket was very tender, and covered with cheddar cheese, then rolled up in an omelet cover. Topped with sour cream and crispy onions. My hash browns were soft on the bottom with a nice firm crunch on top, and had a nice spicy flavor. My cup was always full. I every much enjoyed my visit and will return. Not for families, sign on door says 21 plus. I assume because the alcohol being served.

Old school bar and restaurant, no minors alowed

By Robin Z |

Eat breakfast here! Comfy booths and tables. The little kitchen puts out big food. Love the cheesy grits with bacon.

Super yummy but busy

By rusty_fwg |

Be prepared to wait here if you are more than one or two. Only a dozen or so tables and a horseshoe bar. I wish we would have came a little earlier. We arrived at 11:15 and I asked the server if I could do the breakfast chicken fried steak (looked soooooo good) she said the kitchen could not accommodate. Though they serve chicken fried steak as a meal... Fish and chips were good. Big pieces and delicious batter though. Several good beers on tap, servers were nice and the kitchen got our food out in a reasonable amount of time.

Worst service ever

By Passport712363 |

Used to love this casual dinner. Today met 5 people for a going away lunch as one was moving to uae and Hudson ruined it. After waiting an hour and finally catching the waitress who was intentionally avoiding eye contact she said it was coming up. We had noticed more than 1 table that had ordered after us and had been served. 15 more minutes passed and more orders are coming up for people at the bar that had ordered after us. Now the waitress is completely avoiding us while serving those around us. I called the restaurant to ask what was going on. This prompted the manager / owner to come over who was annoyed and said the waitress should have told us they had several take out orders and they were behind and it was coming up- after 15 more minutes we awkwardly decided we had to skip lunch or be late for our afternoon appts. The odd thing is the restaurant is tiny - it is almost impossible to ignore a table unless you are trying. What a disappointment for what should have been a nice get together. Pick a different place - someone else deserves your business.

A hidden gem

By James H |

Stumbled on this place on my way from the airport into Seattle. Stopped in for a late Sunday brunch and had a great meal. Enjoyed the breakfast tacos with a nice local beer. Was not very crowded and enjoyed my meal alone on a small patio. Definitely will look to visit again when I am in the area.

Not bad for a remodeled garage..

By sergeik |

This place has an ambiance of its own. Real cross section of clientele. But the food is great - breakfasts are really "hand made" so you get crafted food. Saturday special is grits and shrimp - cant pass that up. Serve fine craft beers along with PBT. Bloody Mary's aren't bad either.. Be prepared to wait at the usual crowded times, or get a seat at the bar... Staff is friendly and really helpful. and ample parking on the street...

Take a chance

Happened in by chance on our way home from SeaTac. The breakfast we ordered was delicious. The service was fast and friendly. We will definitely stop in again.

Updated Dinette with Sass and Class

By jennifer s |

First: beware that this is 21+ only. The menu suits all ages, but if your kiddo wants a pancake you'll have to get take out! Located on the edges of Georgetown, the industrial area of Seattle, Hudson is fantastic diner with updated American classics. It is very much in keeping with the history of the area - I spent much time here growing up because my father was in the courier business and Loomis had its offices on the street as Hudson. Georgetown used to be a hub of old diners - there's still great food in the area, but most of it isn't diner food. Not so at Hudson: you'll find great srambles, Chicken Fried Steak with a crust so crunchy it shatters when your fork hits it, Biscuits & Gravy, Brisket Omelette, Deep Fried French Toast and fluffy Pancakes. Prices average close to $10 for entrees, $10-15 range overall. The cocktails here are excellent. I love that I can get a kicking Bloody Mary - virgin or spiked. Hudson is not large - the capacity is about 40 people. 4 tops are easy here, but if you have a party of more than 6 it would be rough. There is a semi-circular bar in the center as well, ala old diner, that is great for people watching.

Great Lunch

By Geoffrey J |

This is just a great place to come in. Food sizes are great value for the price. No complaints from anyone in our party.

Funky with just the right atmosphere

By Ginny60 |

Dined there two days ago with a friend. Lots of different good beers on tap. Service was immediate with a great server. Menu was very diverse. The food was excellent. I had the steak salad, you better have a huge appetite for any of their plates. It was dark and cool in the tavern, but with 88 degrees and smoke from forest fires outside, it was excellent.

Best Brisket Ever

By Jon S |

I happened upon this lonely place on E. Marginal Way in Seattle about a year ago. Had driven by it and thought that it looked good but I was never there when I was hungry. One night I stopped in and was immediately impressed with it's simple, dark and comfortable Cafe' look. I sat down and as has become my practice, I ordered their special "Brisket and Mashed Potatos". I then ordered one of their local brews and waited for the food to arrive. When my meal arrived, it consisted of an ample amount of brisket layed on top of wonderful house made mashers and fresh veggies. My first bite and I was hiooked. The fork-tender meat rocked and the mashers, melted in my mouth. Cannot adequately describe this meal other than it was one of the best I've ever had. Subsequent meals at the Hudson included; chicken fried steak, a burger, mac'n cheese and of course accompanied by a local brew. Love their food! All excellent and tasty. Staff are engaged and friendly and watching the cooks prepare through the server window is also fun to watch. All in all, a great restaurant and well worth the hunt to find them.

Quick and Good

By Edward S |

Went for lunch. Parking is lacking. The building is small. It has a bar but did not use so cannot comment. Very noisy. Very close quarters. A bit dated but clean. The menu is varied and interesting. My Associate had the Oyster Burger, good presentation, fresh. Had a salad, very fresh, good presentation, the dressing very good. As I said very close quarters the couples on either side enjoyed their meals also, yes it is that cozy. The service was lacking keeping it at average value but the good was very good.

Stopped for lunch...

By Michael |

This is a nice place to stop for a drink and food. The fries are generous. I had the brisket sandwich and it was very good.

Excellent Breakfast

By Thomas D |

Great place for breakfast, must try the grits with bacon and eggs... everyone must be 21+ because the restaurant is also in the bar, which makes it great for those weekend mornings...

Reasonable priced neighborhood pub

By Rickdube |

I stopped here on a busy Tuesday. The place was hopping. The waitresses were going as fast as they could. It was noisy, and all the seats were filled. It’s a small place, with limited seating, but the food was excellent and very well priced for Seattle. I had the French dip which was as good as I’ve ever had. The french fries were also awesome. Give it a try.

Blue Collar Gormet

By goamazon |

Sit next to a truck driver, Construction worker, Red tie Business man, this place caters to all of the hard working people of Seattle ,in the most inconspicuous of locations. Not in the tour books, no big name Cheff, ( maybe should be) but gets it's clientele from word of mouth. The Hudson, offers up some awfully good food with that home cooked feel. Not the unaffordable upper crust snob food.. Wow, what a great place. Not much talked about, I don't think they are after the notoriety, they have their loyal clientele, but will treat you just the same as their best customers. People that know this place, know the good food, good service, and don't want to ruin a good thing.(my opinion) Come here anyway. A tucked away place in the heart of the industrial shipping district. a true Seattle Experience. And you will leave waxing for more.

Perfect Place to have a Sit Down Lunch and Talk

By Sarah G |

Hudson has a quiet atmosphere. It looks small but actually can seat a lot of people. The service is good and has that special feature that makes it unique and costs an extra $1.00. Happy Hour is great! Unique items and $1 Beers. Parking is free and easy

Over rated, over priced

By lani1 |

This place got pretty good reviews, so we wanted to give it a try for lunch. The food is average or below. Portions are small. But the worst part it is way over priced. I even called to complain but no one bothered to get back to me.

Delish patty melt

Sooo good and great fries. Nice friendly service. Don't want to say more. Don't like that TripAdvisor makes me say more.

Best Off the Path Local Place

By Jody J |

If I could have given them a “6”, I would have. The food ROCKS! Best Chicken Fried steak I have had in ten years. The place is awesome for weekend brunch but be prepared to wait. Drinks are cheap. It was so good I went back the next day and ordered the Brisket & Biscuits. OMG! Really it is a truest hidden gem and place that unless a local tells you, you’d never find it. Worth going.

Good Breakfast

By Treeeman |

Had breakfast several times. Is very busy on weekends but no problems otherwise. The food is good and wholesome and service is quick and the servers friendly. Prices are average. The atmosphere is a bit funky but fun. The only negative is the flies which always seem to be present. Would be nice to get rid of them!!

Solid every time

By kyle j |

Hudson is one of the few places we've returned to in Seattle. It's a bit out the way, tucked on 99 in Georgetown, but is the perfect stop on the way to the airport for anyone coming from the north side. No food item has ever let us down, but I especially recommend the heartier American fare; biscuits and gravy or the chicken fried steak. The Bloody Marys have a nice kick to them. It's a come as you are diner that fills up over the weekends.

Must be worth the wait!!!

By sissylala1984 |

When we got there there was at least 5 groups of people waiting outside to be seated and I was starving but I kept thinking if these people are waiting it has to be worth the wait and that’s when I seen it... the brisket omelette!!! Yes I had to have it and it was so delicious!! And the portion is huge!! I got a biscuit with my meal and it was so fresh my mouth watered!! Omg if u go your first time has to be the brisket omelette!!

Fantastic brisket dinner

By DuckvilleDude |

Fork tender with the wine based gravy that melts in your mouth it was served with mashed potatoes and amazingly fresh vegetables. Mine came with fresh broccoli and carrots both topped with the coarsely chopped garlic melted in my mouth and was very flavorful. The local Washington Mirlo was also very tasty. I stopped in after a long day at work and the food was so amazing I came back the next night for the exact same dinner.

Perfect Brunch before a Mariners Game

Met friends for brunch...food is great and the staff very welcoming and attentive. Took great care of our allergy concerns. We look forward to our next visit.

Good Breakfast

By Mike O |

Nice place to stop for breakfast in the working part of town with a 50,s style and good food and service as well as parking.

Conveniently located right next to the Georgetown Morgue.

By Cary W |

This was a quaint and crowded restaurant and bar. It was fun to hang out here after the Georgetown Morgue Haunted House. We only had drinks, so I cannot rate how the food is, but it did look good.

Shocked

By Global290302 |

Went there for breakfast this morning. Signed the waiting list, sat down and waited. Two men come in, sign the list and are immediately seated. When the woman came back I asked her why they were seated first. She said because I assumed you'd want the bar seating because you're alone. I said, the bars packed, there's tables open? She seated me. All's well in breakfast land right? Nope. A different person approached me and said, I don't seat single people in booths they have to wait for the bar. I said I'll just go. Won't be returning
