Brunch at Hugo's...

By Donna255100 |

Met up with some friends for brunch at Hugo's, a broad menu, there is plenty to choose from. I settled on a Club Sandwich which was reasonable, didn't love the coffee; an average experience all round.

Yummy breakfast

By 44bambi44 |

Great food, incredible vegan selection...sweet or savory they have the full range... great food! Our server was quick and knowledgeable and friendly in a perfect combination. Definitely would go there again and again

Good, but very over-priced.

By Daniel Scherl |

Hugo's is always a decent meal, but the problem is that the prices are quite high for what you're getting. The service is usually excellent. The food feels clean and if money is not an issue for you, it's a good meal. Lots of options.

Loved IT! Have food allergy or are vegan? you'll love it to

By Jeanette M |

The food is simple but fantastic! They are very friendly and have a big menu for Gluten and dairy intolerants like me... (They are very attentive towards food allergy in general...) The service was great and the price was more than resonable. The have glutenfree fries and bread so you can actually eat a burger with fries! wich is something I can never have because they use the oil for stuff wich are coated with flour but not here! Loved It! We eat here twice out of 4 night in LA... The fist night I had a steak, wich was very delicius and with a prober side that was delicius. If you have gluten allergy the restaurant wich have a glutenfree menu usely just remove stuff from there dishes without adding anything else, but not here! A must see if you are in LA and looking for a glutenfree meal!

Gluten Free options

By Emanuel C |

We looked up Gluten free restaurants while in North Hollywood and Hugo’s came up. We reserved a table on the open table app. Arrived and seated quickly. They did have gluten free pasta and were able to prepare most of their dishes gluten free. They also serve gluten free pancakes for breakfast. The place is basic and not fancy at all but food is made quick and comes out hot.

Nice discovery

By travelfabdeals |

We just stumbled on this little place while we were looking for somewhere to go for a quick lunch and it was great. We sat outside and had a great meal. The staff was welcoming and nice and the price was very fair. Will definitely go again.

Great Selection Of Food Choices

By Itan2Much |

We ate lunch here on June 26th and were pleased with the number of choices you have as to how you want your food . . . Vegan, Meat, Gluten Free, etc.. I had a grilled cheese sandwich on wheat and a side salad. The grilled cheese was good and the salad fresh. My wife had a chicken salad and said it was fabulous. They are very busy at lunch and the parking lot is small, so you need to show up early or plan to park on the street. We ate outside. We were with friends we hadn't seen in a couple of years, but were not pressed to "move on," even though they were very busy. I would definitely recommend Hugo's and look forward to eating here again on our next visit to L.A.

Healthy food great choices on the menu!

By lisa s |

Very healthy cuisine, lots of famous people inside! Exotic choices on the menu for someone who likes to eat healthy. My boyfriend who eats anything even approved. Great service. Very friendly server. In the heart of hollywood.

Average

I came here twice while on my vacation. I ended up leaving after waiting for over 30 minutes to have my order taken. Another time I was here I was with a friend and I ordered the vegan mac & cheese appetizer or sampler? Not the main dish. I found it to be OK. Not the Best ever! I actually added some of the chipotle sauce dressing to it and that made it way better! The waiter I had was a Gem! He was really a character and super helpful! Personality plus! I wish I could remember his name.

Great!

By royer91 |

Service was good. Food was incredible! We got the Cuban sandwich which was incredibly good and also chicken sandwich. The menu has gluten free vegan free items as well. You don't find this often.

A MUST

By lovetravelja |

Every time I am in L.A. visiting my family, we go there, at least twice, in every visit. Great food, simple but delicious

Huge menu, many healthy options

By abc713 |

Food was fresh and many creative healthy items along with your typical not so healthy items as well. Reminded me of a ny diner LA style.

Amazing organic and hearty breakfast!

By Per N |

I went here when in Weho and hungry for breakfast. Went on TA and found them there. I had the eggs with the GF potatoe cakes and vegan cheese. Fantastic dish! I could have shared it with a friend though since it was such a huge serving. Still, would go back anytime to have it again. Relaxed place and no fuzz ambience.

GREAT

By Lois P |

good food for reasonable prices. I went with my friend and had a chicken dish that was wonderful. My friend did the create your own pasta and loved it.

THE BEST EVER!

By dylan v |

I cannot tell you how much I love these guys. The food is fresh and awesome. I am sure it probably isn't like a real MEXICAN-style type of "taco-stand", but it is a very healthy alternative. I love the tortillas that the burritos are made of. My favorite is the soy chorizo with the honey chipotle sauce. Awesome - awesome. I feel great every time I finish one of these burritos. I would pick this place over any fine dining restaurant. It is filling and satisfying!

On our LA Hit List

By MyraMiranda |

We arrived early this morning and we’re seated in Jericha’s section. She was an absolute delight. Jericha was friendly, efficient and made us feel as if we were regulars instead of Texan tourists. I had the almond energy pancakes with a side of eggs and a vanilla latte. My husband had the chilaquiles with a side of potatoes. I tasted the potatoes and they were perfectly cooked. Food and service was perfect. Highly recommend! On a side note, Jericha is a fellow Texan! Explains her southern charm.

Gluten free excellent options

By twotwistedlimes |

Stopped here for breakfast and had the cinnamon roll French toast, eggs and bacon. Husband had the GF Eggs Benedict. Both were excellent . They also have great orange juice. Would definitely return.

Been a Hugo's fan for years

By DeniseWakeman |

I've been eating at Hugo's for years, first at the West Hollywood location and now at the Studio City location. Every meal is fresh and delicious. I have two stand-by favorites for dinner: the Mexican salad and the meatloaf. You can never go wrong with comfort food and I recently had the meatload with mashed potatoes and fresh veggies. When I discovered I get Hugo's meals delivered by Amazon, I was in heaven. Always consistent; always done well.

Don't go out of your way for this. Pasta Mama - Overrated.

By Chupachuby |

The Food Network recommendations have never let me down until I came here. I passed by Santa Monica on my way to Santa Barbara from Irvine. I came here because of the Food Network hype. The Pasta Mama was a decent pasta meal, but nowhere near "the best thing I ever ate." Good thing I got the "Pasta papa" so I could at leat add some taste to it (sausage, bacon). I even had to put hot sauce on the pasta before I took it to go. Fresh, yet pretty bland. The house salad I got with it was fresh, yet, nothing special.

Best Organic Restaurant in the Valley

By Jocelyn1157 |

I always want to eat fresh prepared wholesome organic food. Hugo's has been my go-to restaurant since I moved to Studio City in 2008. I eat there about twice a month and every time Hugo's serves great quality meals. My favorite dish is the Very Green Casserole. I'm not a vegetarian but this vegetarian dish completely satisfies! Love the goat cheese topped black bean burger nestled on top. Every bite is wonderful. The Asian Stir Fry is another favorite. I usually opt to get it prepared with chicken and kelp noodles when I feel paleo. But they will serve with quinoa or rice, and tofu for vegheads. Hugo's thanks for consistently delivering awesome food!

Amazing Allergy Friendly Options

By Danny D |

Possibly my favorite restaurant in the valley. As someone with a ton of food allergies, this is a great option. It doesn't get much better than their Turkey Burger with the gluten free flat bread and a side of their to-die-for fries.

Safe for People with Celiac Disease

By CarolMelissa |

I have celiac disease and it can be a challenge to find a restaurant that really understands how to prepare foods that are gluten-free, and avoid cross-contamination in the kitchen. Hugo's? GETS IT. Not only are their practices safe, the food is delicious. Servers are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and I felt very cared for when I ate there.

Great for vegeterians and vegans

By terark99 |

Great food with loads of choice for veggies and vegans. I had the veggie burger - delicious. It was difficult to choose as there were far more options than I am used to! Smoothie was great too and service was friendly. My friends' said their meals were also very good. I'd go again and am happy to recommend it.

Cabanora was excellente

By Alissa M |

Everything is great. I live down the street and love to walk to it. It's close and the food is great and reasonable what more could you ask for?

Hugo's

By Vickimsea |

5 of us with completely different ideas on what they wanted to eat for dinner went to Hugos in Los Angeles. The menu had something for everyone including lots of vegetarian and vegan entrees. We all enjoyed our meal and the service.

Healthy and tasty!

By JDFam |

Large selection of unique salads, wraps, pastas with rice noodles whole wheat noodles, meat and nonmeat entrées. Amazing hot and cold coffee and tea drinks. The only thing lacking is a good dessert menu. I'm not into desserts, I just in case you are. I highly recommend this to anyone who is into healthy living.

health nut or glutton, they've got a meal for you

By jdoud13 |

If you have friends in both camps, Hugo's is your place! A deep and unique menu with something for all - everything from indulgent to health minded (and all of it delicious!). We started with an order of amazing sticky buns - crispy on the outside and donut consistency on the inside - warm and out of this world, drizzled with maple syrup! The quinoa salad with beets was yummy, and generous topped with chicken. Others at the table ordered "make your own omelette," and an upside down peach pancake that looked like dessert. If you are a tea-lover, you'll appreciate a deep selection of white, green, red and black teas each served in a French press. It's busy on weekends at peak brunch time and worth the wait. They offer inside and outside seating. Parking in their lot as well as ample street parking. Well worth a visit!

Large variety of good, healthy food

By drpaulSeattle |

Lunch was a bit of a wait on a Sunday, but we were surprised at what a varied menu there was. It looks like their aim is healthy, good food, and they achieve it. There are a lot of vegetarian vegan, and gluten free options. I can see why it's such a popular spot. Their parking lot was full, but nearby street parking was not a problem. I have no special picks from the menu. It all looked so good. Do try their watermelon lemonade. Outdoor seating is available, and probably a little quieter.

Always good

By Karyn W |

I go to Hugo's often. It is close to my house, and the food is always good. OK, once I had a dish I did not like. Once in maybe 15 visits. Pretty good odds. I find the more vegie, healthy comfort foods are their forte. Great for groups, families...

Pretty Great Eats

By marybelle08 |

The food tasty, and it's healthy. It's nice to have peace of mind when you are eating out, particularly when there are serious medical issues, like celiac, entering the picture. There aren't many places that do that, by a long shot. So way to go, Hugo's. Way to go!!!

An education

By Allan H |

I was recently in the Los Angeles area, visiting friends, and decided to stop at Hugo's for lunch. They have quite a varied menue. Everything from burgers and wraps to breakfast and salads. I decided to try the Rubin sandwich. Now keep in mind that I'm originally from the NY area and a Rubin is supposed to be made with either hot pastrami or corned beef, sauerkraut and thousand island dressing on grilled rye bread. It was quite a suprise when I realized it contained veggie salami. It's not there fault, it was mine. I should have read the menue a little closer. The place was busy and most of the other people eating, looked to be regulars. Thanks Chris for the great service. I'll be back, hungry and a little wiser.

Great place for everyone

By Beth K |

Hugo's has a large, varied menu that works for people with any and all dietary habits, with is a real pleasure! Their food is fresh and delicious, and they work hard to accommodate their patrons. If you go during traditional meal times, you may find the noise level challenging, and you will likely have to wait for a table - which are the only 'negatives' I'd say about the place. We eat there whenever we can!

Terrific Place to Meet for Lunch

By feiden |

This is a great place to meet if you're in the Sherman Oaks/Valley Village/Studio City and you need to meet for breakfast or lunch. Their are all kinds of healthy selections, and they taste good! The food is fresh, hearty, and served with a very friendly attitude by the professional, personable and pleasant staff. Nothing not to like - and the prices are very reasonable.

Unique and Among the Best

By Glenn H |

Hugo's in Los Angeles has the most extensive menu I've ever seen . . . and many of the dishes offered you won't see in many other restaurants. Great service and superb food in a pleasant atmosphere. I had the turkey meatloaf with Hugo's special mashed potatoes and gravy. It was difficult to choose, however, because the menu is filled with so many creative and tempting dishes. This was my first visit, but for sure I'll return soon and try some of their tempting and unique edibles.

Great Lunch

By Islam_Fathy74 |

I had a lunch with friends, the place is really nice and staff are very friendly, i got a burger which was really tasty and great.

Disappointing.

By Lumpy Sue |

Unnecessarily complicated menu, bland recipes made from the cheapest ingredients... Oh, and the owner has had to be removed from working there twice for harassing the same female member of staff. I'd give it a miss.

Healthy & Delish

By Mia_Faye_C |

Healthy eating is a pleasure at Hugo's. Unique food to accommodate your dietary needs. There is a section of aromatic tea for sale. Celebrities pop in at times.

Delicious and fresh

By Paleotrails |

What a wonderful meal to have on our last night in the US (returning to Australia after a 3 week vacation). Our meal was delicious, fresh and very flavoursome. Very friendly and happy staff, great service. Highly recommend.

Incredible menu options for every type of eater.

By Raineco |

Organic, healthy, vegan, carnivore, gluten free, appetites big or small, French fry lovers, bring them all! Hugo's has so many choices, and each dish made with the finest and freshest ingredients. So many choices including a make it your own section where you can choose just about anything on their menu and put it together to your own likening. Hugo's is very accommodating and does a very good job of satisfying dietary needs as well as the pallet . We have been here several times bringing many guest with a variety of eating differences. Every dish I've tried I have liked, even the ones outside of my comfort zone.

Finally made it here

By Isunwin |

As a vegetarian, I'm always looking for new restaurants to try. While this place offers a full menu with both meat and non meat options, I wasn't all that impressed with my entree. I ordered the create your own pasta with asparagus, onions, mozzarella in a garlic and olive oil sauce. Unfortunately, I had to douse it with salt and pepper to bring flavor to it. My husband ordered a turkey sandwich. Although he enjoyed his, he was disappointed with the portion size. Because we appreciated the service, we will both give this another try.

Great vegetarian restaurant.

By Mary L |

Great for everyone in your party. They have vegetarian, vegan and regular menu. It is easy for everyone to find something they like. Good healthy food.

Casual Dining with my Daughter's Family

By Librado C |

It seems this place is very busy even past 10PM already Diners are still coming. My daughter and her family are regular customers in this restaurant and the price is reasonable. My usual order is fresh Salad. Daughter & Son-in-Law ordered Steak. From their descriptions the foods ordered were tender, taste good and juicy thus they like dining there. Mine is good too with different dressing. Their Jasmine Green Tea is really fresh and real leaf unlike from other Restaurant I have been before. Service is excellent and location and parking no problem. The place is closed to tourist spots in the area.

Great food with plenty of gluten free options

By JulesW18 |

Decor is old fashioned and doesn't look much from the outside but that doesn't really matter so long as the food is good, which it is! We need to eat gluten free so it was great to see such a wide choice of gluten free options. They also cater widely for vegan and dairy free too. The food was good all round with all 8 of us enjoying our meals. The waiter was also a real star. The meal was also good value.

Great food with vegan options

By Lisa M |

Love all the vegan options at Hugo's. The food is always really good at this casual restaurant. Tons of gluten free options also. They also have happy hour now :)

Just OK!

By Cinda10 |

Looking at their impressive menu with it's pages of wonderful sounding foods to order, we were excited! But when our meals came, we were very disappointed! The flavors were odd and frankly, unenjoyable! Not sure anyone in our party even finished their food. We ordered the cauliflower pakora and the green tamales appetizers and liked both of them very much. That is the only thing we liked - we didn't even eat our dessert which was rather dry and also lacking in flavor. Would I go back.......not sure.

Heaven for Gluten Free Folks!

By akcol |

The good: Wait was a brief sunshiny 15 minutes on a Saturday, 11:30am. Tip: grab the menu and make your choices before being seated/while waiting. Menu is FILLED with excellent, healthy, GF choices: no dairy options, low sugar, high protein, very healthy, very decadent... Service was excellent, attentive, informed, fast. Food: excellent quality, well prepared, really sizable portions: one could feed two - but we tried two items to be really in heaven:) Took a sticky bun home (which is really two) and as per a previous review, it's more like a cruller meets a churro, shaped like a donut, with a pecan caramel added. Little too heavy for me, but we were fun from our eggs bennie (on GF flatbread) and blackstone eggs bennie (on black beans shaped like a flatcar) The bad: um...hmmm...the food makes up for any negatives, but if I had to find something: the noise floor is pretty significant when the tables are filled, and they were, the whole time we were there. Tip: ask for a table on the (smaller, so maybe longer wait) deck, which has heaters for colder weather: it's smaller, less noisy. The ugly: total personal thing. The man dining alone next to us was perhaps forgetting he was surrounded by people. Burping, sniffing an obvious sinus congestion back into his throat and swallowing it ...sorry for that imagery, but it was hard to ignore since our elbows could touch we were that close. My OCD aside, Hugo's rocks. Note to woman who wrote that she called and Hugo's no longer serves GF foods: she must have called the wrong place. Menu (available on line) is uber-GF filled, cross contamination is known/accounted for, very much a GF friendly place for all meals of the day.

Breakfast diner

By Ebba H |

Went here for breakfast and really enjoyed it! The pancakes (regular ones) were some of the best I've ever eaten!

Unbelievably awesome. Good for all diets and food interests.

By ChristinePDX |

The menu is huge. Full of wonderful and creative food. Easy if you are gluten free, vegan, nut free, vegetarian and they do serve meat. It is a place to come and eat a lot and healthy. Great coffee and teas as well as juices. Friendly staff. How can I franchise this place. Wow.

Healthy & Delicious

By lamc1031 |

Hugo's has such a vast menu to accommodate all sort of palates from the ravenous carnivores to the healthy herbivores. They serve breakfast everyday until 4PM. A go-to eatery for the celebrities as well.

Great for Non-gluten people too

By Donna P |

I'm not gluten free or Vegan (my sister is), but this restaurant had excellent choices. The food was hot and fresh and the wait staff as well as front end staff was fabulous. We told them we'd never been before and they made nice recommendations and even checked back after getting our food. We ate there 5 times during our stay (a few breakfasts and a few dinners). I'm from Colorado so the menu seemed expensive to me, but average for the Cali area. I even saw a famous person there and talked to her. It was full every time we were there. Lots of choices for drinks and entrees.

Decent vegan friendly place

By sweetlorraine72 |

I come here often because it is in my neighborhood. They have many vegan selections to choose from. Only bummer is it's valet parking.

Great FooD for the Healthy or Coeliacs

By Kit R |

At first appearance I thought oh no! looked busy and we had to wait for a table. It was peak brunch time. From the outside in, it just didn't look to classy. Once inside the place was nice not 5 star but clean & nice. The food was amazing and the service was perfect. We went back for dinner a few days later. Good food, good wine and excellent service. Very reasonably priced, in fact cheap! All organic, food, Gluten free & Vegan menu's !!

Great Gluten Free Menu

By Adriana S |

What can I say about Hugo's? It was a great surprise!!!! I'm celiac and they have delicious gluten free options!

Breakfast, Brunch and More

By sherrieseg |

My husband and I were back in our former stomping grounds and had to enjoy brunch at a great place with a variety of interesting options. The parking lot was almost full but we found a space and were seated inside fairly quickly on a warm Friday morning. Even though it had been a while, I was happy to detect the familiar choices of Pasta Papa and Desayuno Fuerte. Both were delicious and plentiful with enough to take some home for the next day. The service was also expedient since we had limited time and had less than an hour to dine. Glad to be back.

Breakfast before Universal Studios

By Renu N |

We went here for breakfast and wow.. celiac tastebuds rejoice! I had the almond energy pancakes and they were delicious! Almost everything is gluten free or can be made gluten free. They take allergies very seriously and prepare everything accordingly. Our server put a red coaster at our table to let other servers know that someone at our table has a food allergy. My husband had scrambled eggs with a veggie Pattie and veggie bacon.. he says his party was dry for his liking but said he would still recommend it to any vegans/vegetarians to give it a try! I'm trying to get him to go back for me before we leave lol

Something for Everyone at an Affordable Price

By Peter S |

Hugo's is an updated version of a neighborhood family restaurant. It's focus is on fresh, natural ingredients. Whether you are an omnivore or a vegan you will find something delicious to eat. It has a huge, diverse menu. The staff are friendly and the food is very good. I am personally a vegetarian and I take business associates there because there is always something for everyone to eat. They have a truly unique list of teas, coffee, lemonade, ice tea. This restaurant has been here a long time and is always busy. There are also Hugo's with the same menu in West Hollywood and a brand new one in Calabasas. For a good, casual, meal at an affordable price you really can't go wrong at Hugo's.

Great meal, better service!

By Kevin M |

We ate here on holiday just a few days ago. The meals that we had were exquisite. I had the Indian plate on special, and my wife had the tofu pasta. We're not vegetarian, but we do enjoy a good vegetarian meal from time to time, and Hugo's selection of vegetarian options did not disappoint. We'd gladly eat here again the next time we're in L.A.

Healthy Food in Celebrity Hangout

By Songdoc |

There was a big variety of healthy dishes. The "green casserole" was delicious. It was fun to overhear all the "Hollywood" talk. I saw Sly Stone and James Cromwell eating there.

Multiple enjoyable meals at Hugo's!

By Jaxita |

I had the opportunity to enjoy several visits to Hugo's while I was in Southern California for business earlier this month - once for coffee, once for dinner, and once for breakfast - and it was an enjoyable visit all three times. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the property is a fun lil diner-type building, and the location was within walking distance of both my hotel & my business location, & very convenient for me. The menu was fantastic; as someone whose Celiac disease can make eating out a chore at best and a nightmare at worst, discovering that Hugo's menu offers many items that are either always gluten-free or can be prepared gluten-free was nothing short of an absolute delight! Their coffee drinks are tasty, their omelets are To Die For, and my boss is a huge fan of their Earl Grey tea. One tip with regard to the omelets: you can choose up to four items to have in your omelet, & I suggest ordering 3 items or less; otherwise your omelet will simply be too big to hold the generous portions of each item! I will certainly make a point to visit Hugo's whenever I am in the neighborhood; love it!

i love the pancakes & infused maple syrup.

Hugo or Stay?

By James C |

Lovely food & atmosphere. Suitable for Vegetarians . Between the 3 of us we had 1 starter, 3 main courses, 1 sweet, 4 glasses of white wine and 2 glasses of water, The cost including tip was 135$

Staple in the valley

By Kristos T |

For some reason the food seems better here than the west Hollywood location. Plenty of items On the menu , something I sometimes feel is counterproductive to the quality in the end but sofas the couple times we came for mostly breakfast or lunch the options where a plenty. Meat, fish , vegan , salads all available If you read my reviews again it's a service problem. The guy we have right now is just one eye roll away because I asked a question. Other times we end up with lovely people in service. It's sad and tiring in the end to deal with it . Food you will enjoy good luck with the service

Great Food - very popular so prepare to wait a bit !

By Cheryl103 |

Hugo's on Riverside is a very unique blend of home cooked meals (think DINER!) of many varieties alongside many dishes that can be prepared VEGAN. There are also Vegetarian and Gluten Free options on their menu also. For our family, this combo works so well..............whenever we go to LA, we head to Hugo's. In fact, we were there 2 times during our most recent visit and enjoyed a variety of salads, sandwiches, tortillas, soups and beverages. Thanks, Hugo's, for serving delicious food to our Vegan Daughter and to our family as well.

Yummy Vegetarian Options

By Joanne H |

Recently visited Hugo's for dinner, enjoying the variety of vegetarian options. Many gluten free options to choose from, which was much appreciated. We began by sharing the Artichoke Dip, which in my estimation lacked flavour, but was enjoyed by others at the table. I had the Kale Taco casserole, which had a nice assortment of veggies and was quite generous in proportions. We shared the pumpkin pie for dessert, which was quite dense and delicious. A tasty and filling meal. We all wanted to come back to sample the Chocolate Brownie Sundae. It sounded yummy! Next visit!

Friendly, comfortable, and outstanding Chipotle Scramble

By lanie101 |

Very accommodating to our party. Made a reservation prior to - some arrived earlier than others. The table was set and ready within minutes of the earliest of the party arriving. Excellent service, friendly and professional. The restaurant was comfortable - felt welcome. Breakfast was excellent - everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the Chipotle Scramble - couldn't eat it all - enough for two people. Outstanding potatoes, lots of chicken. Definitely worth a try. Limited valet parking - plenty of off-street parking a block over.

Tasty, generous portions, and healthy to boot!

By Vicki K |

This was my first time at the Hugo's Restaurant on Riverside in Studio City. I've heard about it, but experiencing it was great. I try to stay gluten-free; they have many many choices. If you want a carbonara, they'll offer you regular pasta, glutenfree pasta, kelp pasta, carbonara over brown rice, etc., etc. Now, I considered the carbonara, but the green tamales caught my eye, and were so delicious! On the plate were black beans and rice as well, but I couldn't eat it all - so I will finish my plate tomorrow for lunch! I ordered the traditional lemonade - and the refill was free. (They offer 4 kinds of lemonade, I think.) My partner had pasta Victor - with chicken, garlic and a pink cream sauce - also very good. And there were so many interesting choices on the menu - we will surely be back to try some of the others.

Homophobic?

By Matthew L |

They wouldn't allow my boyfriend and I to eat at their restaurant. There employees looked at us like we weren't worth having at their restaurant.

So many choices

By Michael P |

We're so used to going to restaurants, even "vegetarian-friendly" ones, where there are really only a couple of not-meat choices: for instance replacing meat in any dish with tofu. Not at Hugo's. There are many, many unique non-meat dishes as well as some good meat ones, too. I had an Indian plate that was a special right now, not on the menu. I also had a "latte" but made not with coffee but with frothed creamy goodness and lots of savory turmeric and spices. Several people in our party had breakfast-type dishes - everyone raved. The number of gluten-free dishes was also staggering, including breakfast foods that traditionally are difficult to find gluten-free. Check out the menu online. We did have to wait quite awhile on a weekend for a non-time brunch, but it was worth the wait. Best of all, our party of eight-or-so stayed for two hours, and even with a line out the door, we were served, water kept filled, attended generously, and allowed to stay as long as we liked. I can't wait to come back and try more of so many choices.

Healthy & Tasty

By beachycali |

Hugo's is one of my favorite brunch restaurants of all time. They have a wonderful selection of all types of food, delicious juices, and excellent coffee. I usually get the quinoa frittata, which is a really unique egg dish made with egg whites, quinoa, and chopped almonds. It's topped with cottage cheese, applesauce, and fresh strawberries. Sooo good. I definitely think of this as more of a brunch place. They're open for dinner, but my best meals here have been for brunch or lunch.

Over Price Meals

By David N |

It is amazing how people in California are dealing with no jobs can afford Hugo's, everything is between 15.00 to 25.00 per one meal. The wait for this place is between 25 to 45 minutes, not worth it, The Food you can anywhere and the Service is bad. They add the Tip to your Bill.

Hugo's Restaurants - great for all appetites

By Averycat9 |

I frequent Hugo's with friends and on my own. Both the Studio City and West Hollywood branches have great, great service. The menu is extensive and there's something for everyone - vegans, vegetarians and flesh eaters. All well prepared. And they accommodate special diets.

Just the best burger

By macinoregon |

They have the best burgers - another must visit when we visit So. California. Can be crowded so we go in the off hours for good parking.

New family favorite

By MsMariMAC |

I've taken my family here twice and they all have loved it. The menu has a large variety and they able to accommodate all of our various dietary needs including gluten-free. The first time we ordered burgers, the second time we got steak and salmon. All the food tastes delicious and high-quality. My grandpa loved that it was "very good and not very expensive".

Quite surprising

By CobyK |

We stopped in for an early dinner in this very convenient restaurant, right off the 101 in Valley Village. The healthy menu was a welcome surprise and the service was helpful and attentive. Many dishes featured chicken breast in some form but there were also veggie, vegan, and turkey alternatives to choose from. Burgers are hearty and come with a choice of one side dish, choice of bread, and 3 toppings. No room for the tempting desserts, unfortunately.

Love Hate Relationship with this healthy California food cliche

By Danny K |

My family LOVES Hugos. I'm a little ambivalent. First off, there is ALWAYS a wait for a table, unless you're willing to sit outside. The outside area is enclosed with tarp and I find it claustrophobic and not very well temperature controlled anyway so I wish they'd open it up more. The dining room is worth the wait in my opinion. The menu is varied and large and replete with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options, all of which are good in their own right. I especially love the gluten free french toast which is sweet and chewy and as good as any I've had. The list of dishes offered reads like a primer on California food. Highly Mexican influenced dishes are alternately vegan, gluten free, dairy free and other LA cliches, but if you like or need this kind of food, it's a good place to try. They have an excellent tea menu, but I'm not a big fan of their coffee, but their sweetener choices include raw sugar, rice extract and stevia.

My go-to breakfast place

By Dijou |

Don't get me wrong, Hugo's lunch and dinner cuisine is wonderful as well, but I find that most of the time I go for breakfast food, even if it's at night! (They serve part of their breakfast menu all day/night.) Unlike most run-of-the-mill places, they have all sorts of yummy GREEN ingredients to put in an omelette or scramble (avocado, spinach, zucchini, asparagus, etc.) and you can get any side off their Create-a-Plate menu as your side if you don't want white potatoes. And to top it all off, they serve the BEST decaf coffee ANYWHERE!! Strong, flavorful and full of body, it tastes better than the regular coffee almost anywhere else. If I do go for lunch, I get their beef burger. Don't be fooled by this being a "healthy" restaurant - they serve a kick-butt burger and fries!!

Best Restaurant in the Valley.

By AJBea |

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. The food in amazing. I always get the Green Casserole, the Quinoa Beet Salad, or the Veggie Burger (on the flatbread). My husband orders the chicken club every time. There are also vegetarian/vegan options for everything. Great service, great wine, and a great place for celebrity sightings if you're here from out of town. Highly recommended for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Like it

By travelshooter71 |

I ordered the turkey burger and it was great! Service was good and I haven't had anything bad there. Their breakfast menu is really good

Great variety of menu; meh food

By Allen727286 |

Second time here and we still didn't have much that we thought was great. We're probably not the right group, but if you enjoy the healthier menus this place would probably be ideal. Seems quite popular.

Healthy, delicious meal always

By Joe D |

Just got back fr breakfast at my favorite LA bfast spot. Delicious pancakes, egg scrambles, frittatas, pasta mama (incredible pasta and eggs), great selection of coffees and teas. Enjoy.

Vegan options galore!

By VeganVacation |

They give the option of making anything on the menu vegan. Plenty of menu options. Friendly staff. The food was pretty good but not the best ever. I'd recommend it overall.

Used to be GREAT

By samroz |

Food is just okay. I can't understand why the the Studio City location is always busy. The first Hugo's on Santa Monica Blvd in WEHO was eclectic and of great value. Sad to say no more :-(

Gluten-Free Available, Great options for everyone

By Katie L |

LA is a mecca for the gluten-free diner and Hugo's is a great choice to make everyone happy. The menu has something for everyone -- gluten-free, vegetarians, meat-eaters. The food and service is great and there is a fair bit of variety. There is also a Hugo's in Hollywood and a Hugo's Tacos (an eat-outside stand) in Studio City. Will definitely go back.

Always great food!

By Veronica F |

The food and ambiance here is always perfect. I can't say the same for the service, but it doesn't take away from our enjoyment!

Great place for breakfast

By Richard H |

The weekend mornings can get very busy but it is well worth the wait. The eggs benedict is my go-to item. The poached eggs are cooked perfectly every time. The service is very friendly and attentive.

Convenient Healthy Dishes

By Ann T |

What a great spot to meet friends that have dietary restrictions or just like to eat healthy. There is something for everyone here, and I've always found it delicious and agreeable to everyone. There is lots of taste and variety, many specials of the day - from pancakes to Pasta Mama to salads - I'm always happy!

I want more of that Tamale!

By panamama |

I had the special Plato Del Alma that was a grilled chicken breast (could have been tofu or a veggie patty) served with a grilled 1/2 romaine lettuce drizzled with honey chipotle, the inside of a tamale, a tomato/avocado salad stuffed into a fried portobello mushroom cap and fried platanos. The chicken breast was very flat and grilled well, but unexciting. The highlights were the grilled romaine - fantastic! Why have I never thought of this? - and the tamale which was FANTASTIC! - and the salad stuffed mushroom. I've never had a fried portobello mushroom before. I don't usually eat fried things, but the combination of the crisp exterior and the soft interior was divine. As fried platanos, I was expecting tostones or patacones (depending on your country of origin) made from green platanos, but what I got was platanos maduros - sweet yellow platanos - which I do not like. The entree, which cost $16 and well worth it. The portion was plentiful, the variety of tastes and flavors excellent and the freshness evident. There is a small crowded parking lot. Inside there is not much of an atmosphere, but who cares when the food is this good.

Basically a Diner

By crayonline |

Decor is very bland. Service was quick and pleasant. Food was average but prices were astronomical for what was presented.

GOOD FOR VEGANS

By Doris P |

Food was good - not exceptional. We had a variety of dishes. Mac and cheese, avocado wrap, soup, hamburger. Was tasty - is good if your on a budget.

Eeehh from the outside great on the inside

By hadasad |

Great food, great service. Healthy and none healthy all tasted great. Its just that the place looks and feels rundown, but definitely doesn't reflect on the food experience or quality. Was there regularly while here.

Incredible Variety

By Deborah B |

My friend and I visited Hugos for lunch and were both amazed and overwhelmed by the variety of dishes available. They cater to special diets such as vegan and/or gluten free. All of it had a good presentation. They also have a variety of teas to choose from that most other restaurants don't. We had the vegetable stew which had a veggi burger on top which was hardy and tasty. They even have a happy hour!

Wonderful choices for non meat eaters

By Missinglink2259 |

My friends live here so they suggest this lovely cafe for excellent choices without meat.they Ad delightful offerings for everyone. Service was exceptional and I enjoyed the atmosphere and would go again when I’m out that way.

Gluten-Free menu with wonderful-tasting foods!

By ruthsmiley |

Dined with a friend who also has gluten restrictions and we were both pleasantly satisfied and enjoyed a wonderful meal, without the concerns of gluten cross-contamination! Substituting sides was also easy. I'd eat here again...maybe soon. =)

The Food is delicious!! The Vegan food is amazing!! Hugos is the best restaurant for vegans and non-vegans alike to go out for a wonderful meal in a relaxed environment. Try anything it's all good!

Very Popular Local Restaurant

By kuwait08 |

Hugo's is always busy--over the past several years, when I've eaten there, I've never seen it empty. Be prepared to wait a half-hour or more on the weekends for the brunch. The food is good and well-prepared; the ingredients are healthy and fresh. Portions are generous. The wine list is also good. I've often seen stars eating there in (almost) complete anonymity--sat at a table next to John Voight one evening; have seen comedian Christopher Titus eating there several times. I'm very fond of the turkey meatloaf with mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy, salad on the side. It's like Mom used to make, but healthier!

Healthy selections - good food

By April2179 |

This is good place if you are looking for healthier fare or you have a vegan/veg/gf person in your party. My green egg white frittata was a bit bland but still good and nothing some hot sauce couldn't fix.

Great Healthy food choices

By Hal R |

This place is always crowded..for a reason. The food is always fresh and tasty. We have been there several times with guests and no one has ever been disappointed. Parking can be a problem at busy times. Service is always friendly and as fast as can be depending on crowd.

another fav. great, healthy food. but, no, it's really awesome.

Needs a New Cook!

By ZephyrFreeway |

There is ample parking and easy access to the restaurant. The staff was very friendly. However, the food was poorly prepared. We ordered a side of sausage and it was over cooked to highly rubbery. The blueberry pancakes were undercooked and gritty. The blueberry compote had no flavor and was watery. My grand daughter wouldn't eat her buttermilk pancakes even with the maple syrup...highly unusual for a five year old. The pancakes were also oily. The sides of whole fruit untouched by the cook were good. My husband had the eggs and they were overcooked as well as was the Canadian bacon. We asked the waitress what was going on and she offered to take the eggs back but said the cook was inconsistent. So are chances for improvement were 50-50. The coffee was passable but bitter. The portions were generous but I left a lot on the plate and don't plan to return.

Family brunch

By Kristie D |

Brunch w the family. Nice little patio and free parking! Food was amazing and really big portions. It was a little pricey but very good and super sweet waitress.

Vegetarians paradise

By Syndi T |

They have great salads and so much more. I'd definitely stop by again.

Great menu and always flavor filled food options

By MooshLA |

Although my go do dish is the Very Green Casserole, I have tried other items and enjoyed every single one I've had. Their breakfast menu looks amazing and I must try in the future however I'm usually here for dinners. Wish they had more vegetarian options as I seem to recall more for those of us that avoid meat and poultry.

A Must Try

By Suzi H |

Every time I visit my son in SoCal we go to Hugo's. They have a wonderfully diverse menu, especially suited to vegetarians as well as vegans. However, our party of four had a variety of tastes and eating habits. It's perfect for any group. You can create your own plate or bowl from many selections or you can order direct off the menu something like the "Happy Holiday Plate" which gave you a choice of real meat, tofu meatloaf, etc. with sides of veggies and starches. Prices are what you would expect, however, $24 for a single piece of cooked salmon was a bit high!

Great food and lots of it!

By Tommy J |

Went to Hugo's with a vegetarian and a gluten free diner nd there were lots of choices for both of them! And lots of meat for the other two of us! I had the BBQ chicken, and it was wonderful. Take a bite if it and wait for the kick! It was delicious! Everyone was pleased with the food and the service was worth a 20%+ tip. All 4 ate for under $100, including tip. Nice atmosphere (we ate there to meet our son's girlfriend) but dressing up is not required. My wife got the gluten free brownie torte and it was amazing - moist, rich, and fresh!

Homey casual

By Tapin7 |

Nothing fancy here but delicious, healthy food and gentle, relaxing service. Vegan choices and American cuisine. Loads of options to chose from. We had a green power salad that made me feel healthier just looking at it. Dahl Soup was average. Orange mustard chicken was tasty but a little tough. Mac and cheese is baked in a crock. Beef and veggie burgers are solid. Told they had valet parking but I didn't see it. Found free parking in rear.

Delicious!

By Kyllito |

Hugo's has a huge menu that appeals to vegetarians, meat lovers, and those needing to eat gluten free. And there are a lot of options that have a signature Hugo's flair. One of my favorite items was the cardamom cucumber refresher. This is going to become one of my "go to" restaurants when I visit LA.

A Unique Style of Cuisines - Vegan/Vegetarian Friendly Too!

By Zack C |

I visit this restaurant whenever my palate desires a meal of a different style. The food is healthy and flavorful. The staff are nice and the restaurant décor is welcoming and homey. Many of the dishes can be prepared with a non-meat options for those of us who prefer it. Aside from the food, there is a wide variety of teas, drinks, and smoothies too! Oh yeah, and the price is quite reasonable. Check it out!

Broad spectrum food!

By cohwy9 |

Wife and I got nice well made meals and kids got the basics. Very happy and satisfied! Need draft craft beer to round out experience!

Super Delish, but pricey

By MWashatkaphotography |

The food here was very good and FILLING. Very large portions for sure. They had an abundance of healthy drink choices and teas/coffees. Had blueberries pancakes and a side of turkey sausage. A green chlorophyll drink and a delicious matcha latte. Atmosphere is ok. The staff was great. The pricing was a little expensive.

Great Brunch

By LosAngelesRoadWarrio |

Hugo's has locations both in the heart of West Hollywood and Studio City (Valley Village). I feel that the food quality and level of attentive service is consistent between both locations. The food is very tasty and can conform to ANY preference of the guest (vegan, gluten free, etc). Brunch and lunch are very popular at both of their locations. Arrive before 11AM on the weekends in order to avoid a wait. I would suggest the Create-A-Plate option and another nice point is that they offer a full bar in both locations.

Accomodates vegan, vegetarian and omniverous eaters

By chlovis |

A very pleasant surprise. Taken here by vegan friends and was expecting lousy food. Everything was excellent, down to dessert and coffee. Humongous menu that caters to all, even gluten free.

Always Delicious & Ultra-Food Allergy Friendly!!!

By OpenRoadAdventurer |

I'm so happy that Hugo's is in my neighborhood!! Eating out can be tricky when you're a gluten intolerant pescatarian, but Hugo's always has plenty of tasty items to choose from. Their breakfasts are heavenly and the service is always attentive without being too in-your-face. If you haven't tried Hugo's, now's the time!!

A Vegetarian's Delight

By rafiSoCal |

We recently ( 10/13 & 11/13 ) ate here twice and enjoyed our meals. Over the course of our two visits to the restaurant, we had tried 4 vegetarian entrees and were happy with all of them. Service was really fine.

NICE HEALTHY DINING AND ALLERGEN FRIENDLY

By S Jurca |

Wow! This place can accommodate many food allergies. Talk about quality they also do not use high fructose corn syrup in their entrees. They have many options if you have Celiac disease and gluten free pumpkin pie for desert!! That was a real treat and my spouse who does not have food allergies would order it as well. Had the turkey meatloaf with mashed potatoes and a vegetable melody. The place has a pleasant atmosphere and the service is spot on--couldn't have been better. Will definitely return and recommend to anyone!!

Superb for the price

By katontheprowl |

Hugo's offers an great food, superb atmosphere and friendly yet helpful waitstaff. This laid back yet casual restaurant will surely have to coming back for more!

Delicious organic for every taste

By Dave M |

Our friends and family have a wide variety of dietary preferences, from vegan to vegetarian to gluten free and lactose intolerant. I eat everything. Hugo's can take care of all of us with delicious, organic meals that are prepared ingeniously. The chicken mustard plate is superb, as is the Asian chicken salad. The vegan and gluten free folks loved their choices, also. The wine and beer lists are great, also. You cannot go wrong with Hugo's.

Breakfast

By Kristos T |

This is my prefers Hugo's in LA . Nicer , friendlier , the menu is pretty much the same and I know people go all day here for me it's more of a breakfast place. They have all kinds of dishes vegan , fish , meat I usually have the green frittata and a bucket of coffee. My husband orders religiously a breakfast burrito and until I came to the States I had no idea this existed . Most come with sides like salad , potatoes , rice or fruit . American dishes are usually large in size so there's enough food on the table. Come hungry . For a European I m always amazement how large the portions are .. but at Hugo's you can substitute most items and keep it very healthy. It's LA after all The West Hollywood location has lost its charm after the changes over the last years . Used to be impossible to get a table on the weekends , interesting people to watch .. these days lots of families and kids .. anyway food wise always consistent in either location so give it a try .

Oh, so tasty

By HermioneRanger |

Went here for breakfast today. Coffee was good. Cinnamon French toast was bomb. Sticky buns were not what I expected but still great. Husband got eggs Benedict and devoured the whole thing so I guess he liked it ;)

OH MY GOD!!! VEGAN PARADISE!!!!

By Gem |

The best vegan Mexican food I have EVER had and so cheap too!!! My wig is flying! I’m in the US for a month and will definitely be visiting Hugo’s many times before I leave, thanks for being amazing:)

Amazing healthy fusion in Studio City

By Mark D |

I'm visiting LA on vacation. Back home in Indiana ones vegetarian options are pretty limited and boring so it's been quite a treat to find a wide variety of food here. Hugo's is a great example. I've eaten here twice on this trip and a couple times several years ago and have never been disappointed. The restaurant pleasant but not showy. It's an older building and it shows in places but it's clean and attractive. All the staff with whom we've interacted were very friendly, cheerful and just the right amount of attentive. The dishes I've had include summer specials lentil and veggie loaf served like a meatloaf and a warm salad made with sorghum. Both were delicious, nourishing, rich and well-presented. Portions are huge. I've also had the green tamales, again all vegetable, served with a tomatillo salsa, pico and sour cream. The dessert menu is short but includes rich chocolate torte, honey buns and gelato. The torte is large, rich and served with sliced strawberries. I would have liked a sauce with this but the dish was still great. I love places like Hugo's and wish we had more of them them at home!

Dinner at Hugo's

By William N |

I had been to Hugo's before, to enjoy one of their "gi-normous" breakfasts, and also for lunch, but never dinner. The place is not fancy but it's cozy with low ceilings, lots of glass and friendly waitstaff. The dinner menu is as diverse as it is for other meals and its unique quality is that in many cases, you can build your own entrees. It also clearly identifies which dishes can be ordered gluten-free, which are vegan, vegetarian and so forth - but you can still get meat as well. I had a hunch to try to build my own, but before I did so, we tried an order of spring rolls for the table. They were terrific - not fried but soft, thin pancakes loaded with finely cut veggies served at room temperature and accompanied by a delectable and spirited dipping sauce. My wife, who is always difficult to please, loved them! So onward! My caesar salad was excellent with fresh romaine hearts and a dressing that made me want more. My entree turned out to be a pasta dish (fusilli) with pesto, fresh peas, shredded fresh basil leaves, garlic and turkey sausage. Tasty but could have used a dash of salt. Our friend had turkey meatloaf which was the hit of the entrees (my wife's fresh fish was unremarkable). The service was good and any additional requests were promptly filled. This is a restaurant which can satisfy your hunger no matter what kind of diet you may be on. That is as diverse as one can expect. With one more layer of creativity, it could be a really memorable eating experience!

Gluten free be careful

By LR1 |

Went for breakfast as my daughter is coeliac and has to have gluten free.. Despite saying they do gluten free pancakes they only did blueberry ones... Despite saying she needs strict gluten free they brought her out pancakes which weren't.. Thankfully her dad was suspicious and asked in which they said no sorry.. And then changed them... For regular breakfast it was fine.

Eclectic menu with neat surprises and very good service

By Allen727286 |

Enjoyed a nice informal dinner at this creative eatery. An almost unlimited list of health ingredients for omletes, pasta and their 'create-a-plate' allow each patron to style his own meal. Warn service and a broad spectrum of drinks (once again including many creative concoctions) makes the entire experience different and interesting.

Amazing food

By Dbombx |

Went to Hugo's on West Hollywood, the food was delicious variety of plates was huge. I specially remember the side of sautéed mushrooms as one of the best I ever had. They also offer non vegetarian choices. Services very friendly . Definitively I will return .

Shepard's Pie

By Michelle J |

I had their Shepard's Pie with ground beef and it was so flavorful. The wait staff was very attentive and had a pleasant attitude. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. This is definitely a great spot for dining.

Delicious healthy food that makes your taste buds happy!

By Julie E |

There are so many items on Hugo's menu that you can bring yoour non-Vegan/Vegetarian friends here and not worry that they will scrunch up their faces when they read the menu and declare "there is nothing here I can eat". On the contrary, there is TONS of food everyone can eat on the Hugo's menu! I love their Very Green Casserole with the American Veggie Burger and Daiya vegan cheese. I also love their Desayuna Fuerte for breakfast and loads of other items on their menu. Give it a try! You will discover eating clean and healthy doesn't have to taste bad at all. Their food is incredible!

Tacos Fresh but Bland

By Ines K |

I liked the quality and freshness of the ingredients in the steak tacos. The guac in the taco was a great call. The fresh squeezed orange juice was also delicious and it was definitely worth getting the large size! My only qualm is that I would have preferred the meat to be a little more seasoned or spicier. It was a little bland for my taste. Overall, the service was great and I would definitely go back!

Always Fabulous - Always Wonderful

By CharleySays |

We come to Hugo's whenever we are in the area. Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, Hugo's is always excellent. Always. You can order anything from the menu, or if you want something custom, just ask, and they will make it! I love the stir Fry they create, it is so fresh, and cooked so the vegetables still have some crunch. The green enchiladas are a constant favorite too. For breakfast the pancakes they make are huge and so tasty. The quality of the ingredients always shows. THis place is not cheap, and it is worth every nickel. The parking can be tough. I have even had to drop people off and park a block away. No complaint there, it is a choice I will make again and again. Thank YOU Hugo's

Great food, popular place - minor issues with service

By Kimbeque |

Husband and I ate here while in Burbank. They did not seem to be prepared for the traffic flow on this Sunday (MLK holiday weekend). We sat on the patio which was heated. It was really too warm for us. We ordered the Samosa tacos to start which I thought were fabulous. Husband had Shepards Pie which he said was "okay". He would have preferred more seasoning. I had the Chimichurri Steak which was fabulous. The evening would have been better if we did not have to wait so long for a table, if the temperature would have been better and also the service. We received our appetizer with our meal as opposed to before hand. Food was great. I would eat here again.

healthy food at it best

By frekka |

wonderful healthy meals, prepared, presented and timely served. The seating is casual but not crowded. Last but not least you are able to put together your meal solely with your own choices and tastes.

Great food, even better service

By Sanjiv S |

I visited here with family and one member is vegan. The waitress was great, she had a fun personality and was attentive without being in your face. The variety of food on offer was extensive and they could be tailored to individual needs - allergies, vegan or vegetarian all catered for. The coffee was plentiful and nice. I had the Huevo Rancheros - lovely, and my youngest son had the pancakes... Fluffy. It was a bit of a drive but well worth it.

Our favorite for breakfast or lunch

By jandago |

Always a great experience at Hugo's. They have many delicious gluten free options, not just the run-of-the-mill offerings. The coffee is delicious, and the service is excellent. It can get noisy in there, so it's not great if anyone has problems with hearing.

Trendy but pretty good

By BronwenL |

We had a business meeting at Hugo's with an associate who is vegetarian. He was very impressed by the restaurant and recommended it highly. It's a very LA-typical trendy type place with sleek but earthy decor. The menu has some unexpected inclusions like tikka masala veggie patties, which were pretty good but not spectacular enough to order again. The sandwiches seemed to be a good bet. The prices were bordering on the high side. The service was fairly typical of the area - slightly disinterested but not dismissive enough to forgo a tip. I would probably eat here again although it has very limited parking and seems to be busy all the time. All in all it was a pretty good experience.

NOT good!

By My Judgemental Journey |

We had dinner here tonight and the floors are dirty and cracked, the washroom was awful, the table was sticky and even the menu was sticky and dirty. My friend ordered the turkey burger with fries and it was terrible, pink and fell apart into a mess on the plate. The waitress was no where to be found and never checked to see how we were. Finally another waiter noticed how unhappy we were and came to our rescue. They replaced the dish and took the original off the menu but charged my friend more for the replacement even though my meal was cold by the time they got her sorted out. What a trashy place in every way. I would NOT recommend this place especially when there are actually so many very good restaurants that are clean, with good food and good service. So don't waste your time or your money on this hole.

Always a dependable good meal

By Ken K |

Hugo's is a friendly place with good, interesting food that is well-prepared and nicely presented. Service is always good, and staff is friendly and accommodating. One star off for prices that seemed a little high to me. Recommended.

Great for everyone

By Mike Y |

Hugo's is a great place to bring your friends and family. They have an amazing menu with a verity of options for vegans and vegetarians. The staff is very friendly and the prices are reasonable.

delicious food with great vegan options

By emily h |

went here with my sister who is vegan, and they had endless options for her to choose from, not the usual 2 or 3 items. service was excellent and food was delicious. I had the special nectarine French toast. incredible.

Average experience.

By AdvisorMember35 |

My flight was arriving early morning so i ran a search on Top 10 breakfast places to eat in LA. Most were in hotels except Hugo's so i thought i would try it. They had an extensive menu and everything looked amazingly healthy and fresh. We arrived at 11 am on a friday morning the place was not crowded at all. They have limited parking on the street and in the back but there is a parking garage right across the street. It's not a large place and they have seating outdoors. The restaurant was clean and the tables are far apart enough not on top of each other. I can see why people go here to people watch. Lots of eclectic people. We were seated immediately and greeted by a pleasant hostess. It took awhile for our server to get to us and our service was rather slow but he was very pleasant and professional and attentive. I ordered the Egg white herbed omelet with a side of fruit and my BF ordered the Energy Parfait. He said his parfait was nothing special but good. My omelet was way overcooked and underneath was this sloppy mound of oil filled red peppers onions and mushrooms.....it was not good. It was so bland and overcooked. The side of fruit was something from days ago because it was wilted and stale. I was looking around to see what people ordered. Maybe i ordered the wrong thing?.....I will say their Teas are Superb !!!! We had the Dragon Pearl and the Chamomile Tea......they were exceptional !!!! I might go back and try a lunch or something just to order something different to see if it's better. But i really was not impressed, especially if its rated in the top 10. We didn't see any celebrities just alot of "pretty people". I think there may be better places to catch a good heart healthy breakfast. The prices are a little on the high side i'm guessing because of the "fresh" ingredients, breakfast for 2 with tip was $31.

Great food for decades

Been a Hugo's fan for decades both in Weho and in Valley. Haven't had a bad meal yet. Staff always friendly. Good quality ingredients and good cooks in the kitchen.

Delicious food for all dietary needs

By Haley S |

I absolutely love Hugo's because no matter what I order, it's delicious and they have options for every dietary need. I'm lactose intolerant, but do love meat. It's awesome to have place I can go, and have real beef with daiya cheese and other endless possibilities. Check out the menu- anything you can and can't imagine is offered!

Never had a "natural food" restaurant impress me so much!

By levisgaulin |

Went to Hugo's in Studio City on the recommendation of our son and his wife. Our whole family eats as natural as possible - organic, pastured meats etc. Usually, restaurants that advertise this type of food are a little to crunchy for me and the food is tasteless or all tastes like Indian food. Hugo's surprised me! I had chicken marsala and received a side dish of steamed broccoli. The dish was excellent and you could see the attention to detail in that the broccoli was steamed just right and served very simply. The tea and dessert menu is extensive and just as good. We will be going back frequently!

Gluten free and delicious!

By saritavel |

Every time my husband and I travel to LA we just have to stop by Hugo's! It's delicious, fresh, healthy, service is great! Waiters are very knowledgeable of their menu and very helpful. The majority of their dishes are or can be made gluten free, dairy free, vegan etc. Everything I've tried is excellent. I love their spring rolls, fried pickles, and papas eggs. They are gluten free. My husband who is not gluten free loves it here as well. Definitely recommend!

Will return!

By Suzi H |

The three of us are vegetarian's and each thoroughly enjoyed their selection. Loved the Create A Plate or Bowl options. Everyone could have dinner exactly as they preferred. On a second visit some sandwiches and a Salmon plate were ordered and again, each of these meals was great. I'd also like to try breakfast! BTW - lots of options for vegetarian's, vegan's and meat eaters a like. Next time I'm in town I'll return.

Amazing Breakfasts

By Charles L |

Our family goes to Hugo's every time we visit LA. The breakfasts are amazing. Great vegetarian meals, excellent teas, wonderful atmosphere. The perfect breakfast place!

Friendly, helpful, good food

By gretchel |

Booked a table for the one night I was in LA meeting a friend, and we got stuck in traffic so were late for our booking - we called to say we would be late, but were even later than we'd thought. Anyway, although the restaurant was busy and people were waiting, they managed to find us a table right away, which was really good of them. Both of us enjoyed the food, the atmosphere was good and the chocolate cake was very yummy (and enormous!). It was great to have found such a nice restaurant when we only had one night.

IT'S NOT ONLY VEGAN. JUST GOOD FOOD

By Paul B |

this is where you want to go when you're tired of the same old stuff. Here you get free range chicken, good rice, nice wines that go well with the meal. Try the mimosa with your brunch, and watch the happy people around you. Reservation is a must. great place

Feels insulting

By Circuit Ben |

Just vile in every way. Basic food hygiene ignored, violent food poisoning for the whole family - a huge amount of pain and discomfort could've been avoided, but for rudimentary hand washing

TOO NOISY, BUT TOO GOOD TO IGNORE

I've been eating at Hugo's for many years, both for lunch and dinner. The large portions and generally well-prepared dishes, along with their commitment to healthy ingredients, make it a natural (no pun intended) for the acting crowd that comprises most of my friends. Parking can be a challenge, even when they briefly experimented with valets (NOT a good idea in this neighborhood), but if you're into healthy eating, you should be happy to add a short walk to the experience. A couple of faux pas that I just don't understand: I made the mistake on my last visit of ordering Chicken Tika Masala, because I love Indian food. I should have known better. They could have named this dish CHICKEN ANYTHING and I'd probably have been relatively happy with it. But to name it after a famous dish and then not even come close? Well, that's simply bad judgment and poor restauranteur-ship. My far bigger complaint: Several years ago, they created the most delicious Strawberry Shortcake I've ever had, with cornmeal in the biscuit dough. Every summer, I ask for it and every summer, the answer is "Sorry. We don't have it anymore." WHY? What is more traditional than Strawberry Shortcake on a hot summer day? Those complaints aside, and trying - not always successfully - to overlook the noise level, I do like Hugo's and certainly recommend it to anyone...other than Indian food lovers, that is.

Great healthy option that includes omnivores and vegans

Hugo's is a restaurant with great food. There is some meat, but they are so willing to modify anything to make it vegetarian or vegan. They also will let you sit and chat as long as you want. No one tries to hurry you out. It's a great place to catch up with friends. There are also great organic wines, and some of the best juice combinations I've ever tasted.

Amazing for vegetarians

Some of the best veggie food I’ve had - I absolutely love this place, it might not be the healthiest but it’s definitely the tastiest food you’ll ever have - if you go there everyday though you’ll be obese and die quickly - keep it as an occasional treat

Great Mexican Cuisine

We enjoyed a recent lunch at Hugo's---it is quite the popular spot at lunchtime! The place was buzzing, the service was attentive and the food was delicious! My husband and I shared the Plato del Almo, which offered sample tidbits of house specialties---it was huge and scrumptious. I would definitely return to enjoy more treats from the extensive menu.

Always a winner

Eat here all the time. Morning breakfast means Hollywood insider meetings. Great options for any dietary restrictions.

Forget my review, GO TRY this place for yourself. Best Burritos and Tacos in the world. Great staff, long hours, walk up service, the best.

Our son, who lives close by brought us to Hugo's on our recent trip to L.A. Very interesting menu, great food and service. They had the kind of stuff you would only find in L.A. My wife and I really enjoyed eating here.

Something for everyone

As an East coast resident this was my first time at Hugo's. I recently met a friend here for lunch on a trip to Los Angeles. The restaurant was recommended to me so I figured I would try it. We arrived around noon and the place was not that crowded. However, in the next one half hour the restaurant filled up and soon there were people waiting for a table. The restaurant looked to be very trendy and based on the people that came in, including someone I recognized as being an actor, my thoughts were confirmed. The menu was very much today including food for vegans, vegetarians and everyone else. I had a pasta dish and my friend had a bowl of soup. We both enjoyed our lunch. My friend also had coffee and a muffin which he said was very good. The server we had was very friendly and personable offering menu suggestions and answering any questions we had about the menu and the dishes. However, after taking our orders and the fact the restaurant got busy, we did not see her again. Someone else served our lunch and followed up for the rest of the meal. I would definitely come back here again.

Gluten-Free options & food for the rest of us

Went here with my daughters and friends (5 of us) a week ago on a Saturday night for dinner. The place was packed! Service was good but not great. The noise level was almost ear-piercing making it near impossible to hear the person across from me. Food was so-so. I spent a long time waiting to have my water glass refilled. I did not appreciate receiving a single check at the end and then having to figure out what each person owed.

Large healthy menu, great for vegetarians & those with food alergies as well as regular meat eaters!

Hugo's is one of my go-to restaurants due to their healthy menu, hormone-free meat & variety. The gluten free bread they make there is delicious & a when eating a little less healthily with the eggs Benedict I always order the gluten free bread instead of regular, it actually tastes better than normal bread! I usually order one of their tasty salads or their very green casserole (a variety of green veggies in a light tomato sauce with some mozzarella on top & a veggie burger, but I've eaten the salmon there, normal burgers, their sliced turkey, a variety of egg dishes and their chicken, goat cheese and honey sandwich once (on the gf bread) which was delicious. A really good restaurant for the whole family to find something on the menu they'll like.

A Best Breakfast Find for everyone - Hugo's Sherman Oaks!

Having become Vegan one year ago, I have tried two restaurants that offer part or all of their menus with choices that are mainly vegetarian or vegan. But then a friend recommended meeting at Hugo's since having been there once and remembered they had Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten Free and items that were none of those! Nicole, our server said my question about the Almond Crunch Pancakes about having any dairy led her to say that they were the best and most popular pancakes on their menu, and even more popular than their French Toast. I said it sounded perfect for me and boy, they sure were the best pancakes ever....even when I wasn't a vegan! Three large pancakes that were not doughy or mushy inside, with a nice light crunch on the edges and they came with organic real maple syrup. I ate one and was really stuffed so I brought the last two home for two more breakfasts. Absolutely so filling yet so delicious. A bit crunchy and decadent is my description. The other two gentlemen ordered one Indian dish that was listed and an omelet with tomatoes and sour dough toast. Both were very happy with their choices and our food came out at the same time - important to me. Nicole, ever present when needed, made sure to bring me Almond Milk for my coffee knowing I had said I was vegan and that was without my ever asking! Both friendly, and an excellent server, Nicole would be my choice if given one as to what area she might be in on my next visit. Coffee refills were generous and not hard to get. Other than IHOP, most restaurants nowadays charge between $12.00-15.00 for an order of pancakes and the $14.00 charge for my pancakes was definitely worth it. I will definitely go again. Cons/Pros - Inside the main room it was very loud and full of so many people on a Saturday at 11:00 a.m. yet were seated right away. On future visits I might try requesting a table on the covered side patio even though facing the parking lot. Less tables and fewer people and no high ceilings which would be easier to focus on conversations that are not being overheard but are at my table.

Unexpected gem

We booked Hugo's based upon other trip advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The service was attentive , but not intrusive, the sommelier was knowledgeable, did not push us toward the most expensive bottle of wine, but the one he thought fit our palate. The food was outstanding and the price very reasonable because it was a complete meal. It included bread, custom salad tossed table side, sorbet in between courses, and chocolate dipped fruit for dessert. It was very "old school" and located downtown which is not my favorite part of Vegas, but well worth it! I would absolutely return next time I am here.

Amazing

Went here for the first time and LOVED it! I got the eggs and tamales and they were delicious!! I was stuffed for the entire day and the price was very reasonable for the amount of food we got. We also had one member of our group who has a lot of food allergies and she was able to find multiple things on the menu she could enjoy. I will be back soon!!

In LA for 2 days & ate there 3 times!

If you have any food allergies then this is the place to go. They have amazing mustard orange chicken. Usually when you have to order your meat gf the flavor disappears but not at Hugo's! My daughter's had turkey meatball pasta gf and it was wonderful. We went back for breakfast and had gf blueberry pancakes which were the best I've ever eaten gf or regular. They come with a perfectly composed blueberry compote. You don't need syrup to enjoy them. My daughters had the gf sticky bun and turkey bacon and they were great. The menu is has 100's of items that all look good. The lemonade is awesome and the fresh orange juice is a big winner. I would move to LA for this restaurant.

Pleasantly Surprised

While driving through, we happened to see Hugo's and liked that it had dining al fresco and convenient parking right across from it. The menu is broad and it has food for everyone; whether you are vegan, vegetarian or not. We started with a round of spring rolls as appetizers. I must say that these were so refreshing and different from the spring rolls I have eaten in the past. Made with fresh vegetables, it was fresh and crunchy to the bite. I later ate a salad with beats and fresh vegetables which was also delicious. My husband had a chicken and artichoke dish with he really enjoyed as well.

Great food in a casual setting

Hugo's features a wide variety of entrees and salads. There are many vegetarian options on the menu. Or, you can request an items served without meat or chicken - and substitute tofu instead. I had the Moroccan Chicken Tagine and my friend enjoyed a very large beet salad for dinner. I have also been here for breakfast and been very happy with the selection of items.
