Great dinner!

By Budda11 |

My wife and I and our friends came here for dinner for our friends anniversary. This was our first time here and it did not disappoint!!! We had cocktails at the bar before we were seated that were great. Dinner was epic! We had a shrimp cocktail for a appetizer. Then we had the salad that was made fresh at your table. Then came the New York steak and mashed potatoes. The steak was perfection! To top it off we had the bananas foster which might have been the best thing I’ve ever tasted!!!! Whenever we are in Vegas we will be coming back!!!!

Pre Valentine's Day dinner!

By Tony B |

We were not able to get reservations for Valentine's Day, so we decided to have dinner the night before, after a recommendation from a friend. It was amazing to see how cozy it is, given what is just above the restaurant on freemont street! The food was fantastic, but I tried the Chilean SeaBass, which I've had at many places, but it wasn't as good as I was hoping, given the price charged ($67), but it was good. Everything else was fantastic. My date had the split chicken, which was fantastic. We'd definitely go back again, but which you didn't sit quite a close to other guests, as it felt as though we were almost at the same table with the couple next to us.

Excellent downtown steakhouse

Been to Hugo's Cellar several times and it never fails to satisfy. The service is second to none. The overall experience is always on point. The ladies always get a rose and the service just ramps up from there. I feel like Hugo's is a hidden gem but it's always packed anytime I've been there. I would definitely recommend you make reservations. Everything on the menu is excellent from the steaks to the seafood. It is truly a dining experience. Vegas has many good steakhouses and Hugo's deserves a spot among them. I could go on and on. Just go and thank me later.

Delightful Experience

By Hollis G |

The bartender is a true artist. My martini included an extra carafe that came in a crystal ice bucket. I only had appetizers but they still treated me like a queen. The host was a true gentleman (he gave me a rose), and the server was a true professional. The lobster bisque and escargot were delicious. This is a very nice, old-school, lovely reprieve from the loud bustle on Fremont St.

This place doesn’t disappoint

Great food, super service, great atmosphere we Highly recommend. Give this Vegas gem a chance you won’t de disappointed.

High point of our vacation with dear friends!

By David O |

Great spot for a fancy dinner out. They are known for steak and prime rib. Two of use had ribeye, one NY, one filet mignon and one sea bass. All were perfect. Salad is prepared table-side which is a treat. Ladies each get a long stem rose. The Somalis was delightfully snooty and helpful. Waiter was phenomenal. All staff is in suits or tuxes. The restaurant is below ground. Outside is Fremont street which is loud and tacky, but Hugo’s is a complete contrast. Classy, classy, classy. Chocolate strawberries come with the meal. We opted not to have desert, but it looked awesome. Check the prices before you go. It’s totally worth it - you just wouldn’t want to be surprised.

Ribeye was disappointing

By LGM1 |

Good service but the ribeye had gristle all through it, making it difficult to cut and chew. I could not chew most of it which was disappointing on Valentine’s Day. All the rest of it was decent but the meal overall was not worth $100 to me, since the steak was inedible.

Great Steakhouse

By Janyce S |

Great Steakhouse situated in the basement of the Four Queens. Although not located in the greatest area of LV it definitely confidently competes with many other wonderful steakhouses in Las Vegas. We try to visit Hugo’s on every trip to LV & are never disappointed with the food or service. After your wonderful meal & as a plus you can be entertained by the entertainment on Fremont Street! In any event it’s right up there in quality of food with Del Friscos, Golden Steer & many others. If you want old school ambiance take a visit to Hugo’s as I don’t believe you’d be disappointed.

Nice Experience, Mixed Review on the Food

By Joanne |

Hugo’s Cellar is the one restaurant that we return to each time we visit Las Vegas and this year was no exception. Booking well in advance, I had to call and check my own reservation, which was for a Sunday evening (deliberately trying to avoid Fremont at it’s craziest). Service is always lovely, and this visit was no exception. Andrea served our super salad and it was good to have a chat with John, the sommelier, who recommended a nice bottle of Chardonnay to accompany our meal. I had planned ahead and was looking forward to the Sour Cherry Chicken, which was as delicious as I hoped. Portion sizes are big - my meal had two chicken breasts, broccoli and garlic mashed potatoes. My partner ordered the Chilean Seabass, which had been pan-fried and was over cooked, to the point of being crispy around the edges. I would have sent it back to the kitchen, but she decided to stay with it. Chocolate dipped fruit platter to end is always a very nice touch. Eating here is about the experience, the history as much as the food, but with so much competition in this price range, we might wait awhile before we return.

Great food

My wife and I had dinner here for our anniversary. Wonderful service friendly staff. The food was incredible. At the end the brought us a little cake and card for our anniversary. Awsome night

Amazing, deliciousn - Exceded all expectations

Small vellar restaurant. Oh my the menu was amazing. The appetizers alone were enough for a dinner. Here is what we chose Hot Rocks - 4 meats (shrimp, tuna, chicken, & Steak) Fabulous - prepared tableside, then hot marble slab moved onto table. You control how well done. Tableside salad - you chose ingredients and salad dressing. Unbelievably good - great service. Hot towel and mini sorbet cone. Beef Wellington - wow, super delicious, tender. Asparagus. We declined potato Tableside bananas Foster and Cherries jubilee. Wow oh wow. Bananas Foster was so delicious.service was fabulous too. Fantastic restaurant. GREAT CHOICE

Michelin Worthy Dining!

By henri l |

I have dined at Hugo’s Cellar many times over the last 15 years. Some of these occasions included groups of 8 or more while other times it was dinner for 2 or 4. Hugo’s Cellar has never disappointed. This establishment is not only excellent but also Michelin worthy. It is by far the best fine dining in all of Las Vegas. The ambiance is white glove plus old school. It’s a romantic setting which begins with the traditional red rose for each lady that dines here. The menu is exquisite . The salad prepared tableside is outstanding; add to that, sorbet to cleanse the palate prior to the entree. My current visit was serviced by an excellent team which included Eddie, Javier and Ahmad. These gentlemen left no page unturned; they provided the best dining service I have ever experienced in Las Vegas, New York, LA, Paris … etc. I started with the scampi appetizer whose lemon and butter flavor were on target. The bread was great especially the lavosh bread which was slightly dusted with a sweet chili salt. This paired beautifully with the honey butter presented as well as the creamy butter artfully displayed as a rose. My tableside salad included greens, small bay shrimp, chopped egg, heirloom tomatoes, pine nuts, and cranberries dressed with a honey orange walnut vinaigrette. This salad is the perfect prelude to any entree on their menu. My selected entree on this visit deviated from my usual preference of steak, lamb or fish. I chose the chicken champignon which was tender and moist in a wonderful light sauce accompanied by green beans with red bell pepper and fingerling potatoes. The portions are generous. The finish was just as good with complimentary chocolate covered strawberries, dried apricots and dried figs plus fresh whipped cream for dipping. Additionally, a birthday prompted the serving of a complimentary mini chocolate molten lava cake that was light and full of flavor. Kudos to Eddie, Javier and Ahmad for 5 star service and their wonderful recommendations. The management at this establishment has much to be proud of. I have dined at many steakhouses throughout Las Vegas and none can compare to Hugo’s Cellar. This is a must stop for me in Las Vegas…a true delight!

Usually my favorite Restaurant in Vegas. Hope things have not changed

By Douglas B |

I have been dining at Hugo Wine Cellar and introducing family and friends to this hidden gem of Las Vegas for over 20 years. This is the first time I have to express how disappointed I was with my meal. I ordered the Prime Rib, as I always do, and upon taking a bite, I found the meat to be cold—even to the touch. It was disappointing, but I requested a replacement. For a restaurant as refined as Hugo Wine Cellar, I expected them to provide a fresh cut of meat rather than simply flash-cooking the same pieces, which alters the flavor. Unfortunately, they did not meet this expectation. I ended up not consuming most of the meat and even brought up the issue, expressing that a restaurant of their caliber should have brought out a new piece of meat. In the end, they compensated with a $15.00 drink. While I understand that mishaps occur, it's crucial how they are handled. I am very disappointed that they did not offer a new cut of meat, and I was further disappointed when they only compensated $15.00 after my feedback. Hopefully, this was an isolated incident, as we always make an effort to dine there. - Doug Bennett

Delicious steak dinner experience

By Stephanie L |

What an amazing and delectable experience at Hugo's! I am STILL talking about the tableside salad (so fresh and delicious). Also, as someone who prefers her steak Medium Well/Well (yeah, yeah, I know - please save your cries of outrage, I genuinely enjoy it), I am used to being disappointed or frustrated by the temperature, or having to battle with the servers/chefs, but not in this instance! My steak was cooked PERFECTLY and I absolutely devoured it. I loved the ambiance and experience of the entire evening, with the roses for women, the sunken-living-room-style seating, and the multiple servers per section. I'm also amazed by the amount of food we got for the price, including the chocolate covered strawberries at the end of the meal. Will absolutely return (and thanks to our bartender on the High Roller for recommending it!).

Best restaurant in downtown Las Vegas

By HotCobbSalad |

Hugo’s Cellar is the in-hotel fine restaurant for the Four Queen Hotel in downtown Las Vegas (Fremont Street). This is every bit a four star restaurant both in experience and in food. The restaurant: located in the bottom of the hotel (or cellar) it’s away from the casino noises and smoke smell. They set a romantic atmosphere, dim lights, candles at the table, a red rose for all female dinners. They have a Maître d' greet you and set you. A Sommelier come to the table to make a recommendation. Multiple servers attending to your table. Every dinner comes with multiple courses, Bread, salad, palate cleanser, main course, and simple desert. For my dinner I added an appetizer and full desert. Dinner: after being seated your offered freshly filtered water (they call it bottled water but it’s bottled in house but is triple filtered) and brought an assortment of breads and whipped butter. Your main waiter comes and greets you and takes your drink order and appetizer order. I ordered the French onion soup. The soup was a larger than expected serving made in the traditional style, broiled, except for the cheese which was mozzarella instead of Gruyère. The salad is made table side and has a choice of 12 ingredients and 3 dressings. I opted for the pepper cream (like ranch) but they also have a Caesar and a vinaigrette. After that they bring you a small tastes of lemon sorbet as a pallet cleanser. For my main dish ordered the Beef Wellington (a house specialty). It came with fresh season vegetables (green beans) and fingerling potatoes. I opted to add a broiled lobster tail. The Wellington came out perfectly crusted and golden brown with a perfect medium cook on the filet. When they bring the food the waiter offers to remove the shell for you and is served with drawn butter. The butter is kept warm by a small candle. After dinner they bring you. A warm towel to clean up with and a small plate of dried fruit and nuts. I opted for a full desert. They brought the desert cart by but I chose the house special Cherries Jubilee which is flambé table side. Very expensive but very much worth it if you’re looking for a special dinner. Definitely not a place you would take children. The experience and the food is probably the best I’ve had so far.

Great Service - Excellent Staff

By Joe_Indianapolis |

Our party of six had a great time at Hugo's Cellar. The entire staff was wonderful and accommodated all our needs. We loved the table side salad. Overall, a very good meal. We especially appreciated that the price included the entre, salad, vegetable, and basic desert. Excellent service. Hugo's values their customers.

OK but could use some improvements

By agent86SanJose |

Very traditional old school style restaurant. Restaurant is very dark inside, table should have better lightning. I think man people had difficulty in reading the menu. Service was excellent but recipes need to be upgraded. Filet steak needed more taste and was not tender. Suggest option for a blackened steak. Salad was very good and made at the table. Need more variety of deserts.

Great place for dinner!

By Htrok |

We did not have a reservation and we were seated immediately. The service was fantastic as well as the food. Loved the ambiance.

Lovely place-AVOID THE DUCK!

By MaryCath |

This place has much to enjoy. The service is fabulous. Each woman is given a long stemmed rose at the entrance. The cocktails were great. Each came in its own ice bucket so you could keep your drink cool while refilling it. The salad was prepared at the table to your specifications. They offered a palate cleanser between courses. The meal was finished with chocolate covered fruit.n Sadly the duck was AWFUL! The skin was tough and rubbery and the meat was grey. Our friends had the prime rib at it looked delicious. I usually love duck but this was the worst I ever had. I recommend you stick with the steaks to avoid disappointment.

Frank Sinatra's Table

By Jeanette A |

Had a wonderful meal, we sat at Frank's Table in the far left side of the restaurant. All of the ladies are handed a rose upon sitting, This is a fine dining experience, table side made salad, entree, sides and dessert. Huge portions, worth the money. Drinks are a great value, I had a dirty martini. Beef Wellington was cook to perfection. Banana Foster was prepared tableside, fantastic experience. Dinner priced between $60-$90 depending on what you order. Seafood is market price. Not Kid Friendly

Not The Same Hugo's Cellar Food As Years Ago

By kaukau |

Having dined at Hugo's Cellar several times over the last 20+ years I was pleased to be returning for dinner last week. With reservations at 7:00 I suggested we pop into the bar around 6:00 to enjoy a few Martinis and the little crocks of cheese spread and chicken liver pate that alone were enough to bring me back to Hugo's. Advising the bartender of our intentions, he replied that it must be at least 7 years since our last visit as that's how long it's been since those items were discontinued. Saddened to learn of their demise we nonetheless thanked him and said we would return at 7:00 for our table. Returning at 7:00 we were greeted by a most charming and gracious Maitre D' who seated us without delay. Service was prompt. I suggested we start with Hugo's Hot Rock Specialty for Two with a Trio of Sauces along with the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms as the appetizers, followed by the N.Y. med. rare with Potatoes Au Gratin and the Maple Bourbon Duck with Fingerling Potatoes. After a delightful conversation with the Sommelier Frederick, we chose a St. Emilion for $120 to wash it all down. Well, the wine was delicious. Unfortunately, the food......not so much. The Hot Rock Specialty was clumsily prepared - the waiter dropped the tongs on the floor and did not replace them for us to continue the searing process, so we used our silverware to flip and sear, serve, and dine on the meats cooking on the Hot Rock in the middle of our table. The meats presented for searing: Medallions of Filet Mignon, Ahi Tuna, Shrimp and Breast of Chicken - arrived unseasoned and therefore were rather bland after searing. The Trio of Sauces: a good Bearnaise, a lackluster Mustard, and a Plum sauce from a jar didn't do much more than make the results boringly passable. The Crab Stuffed Mushrooms, on the other hand were inedible. One taste revealed that the crab had turned rancid. I politely handed the dish back to the waiter, politely informed him that they were inedible, politely asked that they be removed from the check and politely requested he inform the chef of the state of his crab stuffing. Unfortunately, in spite of my politeness. I fear the waiter took my displeasure with the mushrooms personally, and without so much as a "Sorry about that." just took the plate and stormed off. He remained distant and aloof throughout the rest of the dinner. I personally have always thought of the "Hugo's Famous Tableside Salad" service with the sixteen or so available "toppings" more of a gimmick than a true culinary adventure - something to be tolerated before the main course arrives - so we just asked for small Caesars and were pleased with the result and the friendliness of the salad preparer, who over the course of the meal morphed into our server as our original waiter found little reason to continue on with us after our displeasure with the mushroom appetizer. The N.Y. was mostly fat and gristle, the Duck and it's Maple Bourbon Glaze was, well, just not that tasty and far from delicious, the Maple Glaze a real disappointment. But having already reached our self-imposed limit of only sending one dish back to the kitchen as unacceptable per meal, we just lingered over our mostly uneaten plates, cutting them up into little pieces so it looked like we were eating. The Potatoes Au Gratin were, however, a triumph. Absolutely delicious! And paired wonderfully with our bottle of St. Emilion. After the meal we ordered Irish Coffee - also delicious - and were presented with a hot molten lava cake and a plate of chocolate dipped strawberries and apricots. The tab was $400. We left an $80. tip. In summation, the front of the house staff: the Bartender, Maitre D', Wine Steward and Salad Preparer were pure Old School Joy: super friendly and attentive, well spoken with a quick sense of humor and skillful turn-of-phrase, eager to engage in friendly banter and repartee and happy to share stories and reminisce on the Las Vegas of years ago, and eager to speculate on what the future holds. That night, though, the back of the house, the Kitchen: Not so good. So, there you have it. Our night at Hugo's Cellar gets Two Circles on TripAdvisor: "Poor."

Must be good I can never get a reservation.

Have had friends tell me it is very good, I have never been able to work it in to my visit. Hope to on my next visit in December

Old-School at it's Best!

By Trippingdaisy69 |

Had reservation for booth; promptly seated and given red rose. Had delicious New York strip and shrimp skewer; did split plate option. We loved the salads made to order table-side. Cocktail was tasty and creme brulee to finish capped off a very pleasant meal. All wait staff were professional and friendly; loved the atmosphere and feeling of old-school Vegas. Lots of food included for one price. Would recommend to others.

Disappointing

By Jessica A |

I loved the ambiance, the tableside salad was nice. BUT the prime rib was tough, I was given the wrong side of potatoes, we had to grab a waiter from a different table for a coffee refill. Once we were served our main entree, waiter was MIA until it was dessert time. I would not recommend , the meat quality was very disappointing, I had to saw through my medium rare prime rib. It wasn’t worth $25, let alone $85ish., I have had much better prime rib at chain restaurants.

A Hidden Gem!

By Frequent Traveler |

We decided at the last minute to go Hugo's to celebrate our anniversary and a birthday. When we arrived for our reservation, we were greeted by a friendly host. All the ladies get a beautiful red rose. The inside is very well kept!! The staff is great! We ordered tea and decided to share the prime rib. We did pay the up-charge for sharing--it included all of the sides. Our meal came with the salad that is made at your table. He did a great job and we could have made a meal of just the salad. Then we were given a sorbet to cleanse our palette. Our meal arrived and they had already divided it up on 2 plates. The food was fine. After we finished, we were given warm clothes to wash our hands. Then they brought out a lava cake and chocolate covered strawberries. The cake had a candle. Overall, it was great experience with a good staff. The location was a little hard to find--in the basement of the Four Queens.

Nice meal

By Vegas On A Dime |

We ate at Hugo's Cellar in mid August. We had a 7pm reservation and were seated immediately. I was greeted with a rose upon entry. The service was on point. We literally had like 4 people attending to us and everyone was so friendly. We really enjoyed the caeser salads made at table side. We also ordered the prime rib with garlic mash and the ribeye with fingerling potatoes. All of the meal was really good, but I must admit that the meat lacked in flavor - it needed seasoning. The meal also included a small dessert and they were so thoughtful and brought out an extra lava cake for my birthday with a nice card. This was a really nice place with a great atmosphere. I had hoped more for the meat, but overall was still a nice experience.

Best Steakhouse In Old Las Vegas - A Class Act From Start To Finish!

By The Helper Crow |

My wife was very excited to take the family to this restaurant for a special dinner as our son had just graduated from University. She had read a lot about this place which was under the Four Queens Casino on Fremont Street. This is another one of the very rare, old style steak houses that has become increasingly hard to find in Las Vegas. It perfectly captures the look and feel of the old style restaurants from the golden age of the Vegas strip. Its a very classy place and it starts right at the front door where all the girls and women are presented with a beautiful, long-stemmed rose. There's even a vase provided at the table when you're seated. We chose a nice booth at the back of the restaurant where its nice and dark and secluded. All of our servers were great, the sommelier was a funny guy who had been there forever and recommended a wonderful bottle of wine for my wife and kids (Bin 669 - $49). Our son ordered the wrapped prawns ($21) for an appetizer and we had a delicious cheese board ($18) for everyone to share. We were having so much fun that we took an extra long time to order our entrees and we didn't feel rushed at all by the staff. If you order the entrees they come with a table side prepared salad - the server brought a cart over to our table and it had a plastic divider set up for social distancing. There he made each of us a beautiful salad with a huge variety of fresh toppings. I had the Caesar salad and it was really tasty! After the appetizers and salads were done, we were brought these tiny little ice cream cones that had a wonderful raspberry sorbet on them - it was the intermezzo of the meal meant to cleanse our palettes for the main course. When we finally did order our entrees, I had the stuffed jumbo pasta shells ($46), My wife had the Cellar Prime Cut Steak - Oscar Style, which meant that it came with a giant crab leg, mashed potatoes and veggies - ($78). Our son had the Hugo's Prime Cut Steak, which was a whopping 24oz and also came with the Crab Leg. His girlfriend ordered the small NY Strip Steak. The portions were huge and absolutely delicious. they were all very hard to finish but somehow we managed. We were them presented with a selection of little desserts that are included with the meal - chocolate dipped strawberries, figs and apricots. Then we had our real desserts - creme boulle, chocolate ,mousse and chocolate cake ($7 each). By this time we were absolutely stuffed. What a magnificent meal in a truly wonderful restaurant. The whole place and all of the staff a real class act. If you have the time and the $, you are definitely going to want to check out Hugo's Cellar for a slice of old Vegas that'll make you feel like you stepped back in time!

A hidden Jewel

By Dirrick C |

Have been here a couple of times the food is very delicious very reasonable pricing for a upscale restaurant we'll be going back very soon

A must try

By stitcher1951 |

We loved our meal here The restaurant has an old school vibe and waiters in tuxedos Upon arriving my daughter in law and i were each given a red rose. They had a vase on our table to put them in while we enjoyed our meal. They also wrapped them in foil when we left! We were first served a basket of bread. It came with two kinds of butter (one was shaped like a rose!) and three different salts. It was very good We ordered an appetizer of spinach and artichoke dip and it was the best we’ve ever had! We were then served a table side salad. They had three kinds of dressing and several toppings. They were made individually so you got exactly what you wanted! It also was very good. We were then served a mini cone pallate cleanser which was sorbet. Nice touch We each ordered a different entree. I had the surf and turf . The steak was very good and cooked perfectly. The shrimp were over cooked a little and there for not tender. The fingerling potatoes were nicely seasoned My husband had the Scallop Celebration and he said it was very good My daughter in law had the cherry chicken. She is allergic to alcohol so they served the cherry port reduction on the side. She said her dish was also very delicious My son had the rib steak it was cooked perfectly he said it was in the top three of any rib he has eaten Our final dish was chocolate covered strawberries, apricots and figs. Very good also We did order three items to go off the dessert cart. The chocolate cake and the mousse are a must So, great service snd wonderful food! We cant wait to go back!!! I have lots of photos but for some reason they wont post 😟

BEWARE, menu prices on official Hugo's Cellar website are out-of date. Thankfully, TripAdvisor prices are CORRECT

By HeyNow-Hank |

For instance, the "Hugo's" website shows Rack of Lamb at US$59. The ACTUAL price is US$65 (and correctly shown on this TripAdvisor website). That being said, a meal at this type of restaurant is something everyone should do at least once. It's very old-school (nothing wrong with that). Be warned, however, that at age 56, I felt far too young for this place, even though I am an "old soul". Be sure to budget about 2 1/2 hours for your meal. This will work if you're having a good "date" or just enjoying catching up with old friends. The "entertainment" value of the experience is very much a part of dinner here. Rather than see a Vegas show that you're not really interested in, a very viable alternative is treating yourself to a meal here. If you're 55 or over, you can save 20% off your bill by obtaining a free Four Queens players card at the Players Club in the Casino. If you've earned casino points from gambling here, you can ALSO apply your points to your dinner for a further discount. Enjoy a meal WITHOUT cell phones, big screen TV's, and loud music. Outstanding food is guaranteed. The spectacle of the entire experience is unexpected "value-added". Just make sure you know the CORRECT prices before you go...by checking this TRIPADVISOR website, NOT the official Hugo's website.

Best Place We Stumbled On

By Robert G |

My wife and I went to the Mike Hammer show (which was great) and were looking for dinner afterward. Went downstairs and were wowed by the place. Attentive staff, food was fabulous, and the atmosphere was awesome. Went to Oscar’s a few days later and no comparison. Will be back to Hugo’s on our next visit.

Excellent Old School Vegas

Highly recommend this old school Vegas steakhouse. Located beneath the casino floor, this place has a great vibe. Excellent beef and shrimp. Highly recommend if you are in Downtown Vegas!!

Couples romantic dinner

By BeckyVitek |

Very romantic atmosphere with excellent service. Rather expensive if you’re not comped. The steaks were cooked to perfection and we loved the complementary Hors d’oeuvres.

Exceptional

By JayT&Hay |

My boyfriend wanted to try a nice steakhouse downtown and picked out Hugo’s Cellar. What a choice. The service was exceptional. The tableside salad was a lovely touch. We ate so much food by the end of our meal we couldn’t of eaten a single bite more.

Special place

By Charlie A |

We had been to Hugo's about 20 years ago so decided to see if it had changed. It really hadn't! A long stemmed red rose for my wife, warm, dark colors with leather coverings and romantic lighting were welcoming. After being seated (at our reserved table) we were greeted quickly by David who offered the menus and took our drink orders. The steaks we ordered were tender and perfectly prepared and the attentive staff made sure we had anything else we needed. That included a table-prepared salad that was delicious. It was a satisfying experience which we will attempt to repeat on our next visit. Just be sure you saved some of your payout winnings to thoroughly enjoy a guiltless evening.

Rethink going here.

By Arthur R |

Never have I been so disappointed in a place that had such a good reputation, the service started nicely with our host seating and greeting us very professionally. They seem to be trying to see how many tables they can fit till you can't move. Our table was practically attached to the folks in the booth next to us. Two members in our party have been there in the past and could not believe how many tables they stuffed into this space. Well it started with our waiter, he was attentive at first but drifted Steadily away, we where done with our drinks before we even got bread. Then after another 20 we were told the salad was on the way. Finally the salad came, then after another long wait we had our order taken. The food was not worth the price. The only meal in our party that someone enjoyed was the beef Wellington. We were well done eating and no sign of our waiter, not even a drive-by how is everything going? I had to flag down a different waiter to try and find our waiter, and we still had to wait. Overall, the food was average, service subpar.

Great Steakhouse!!!!!!

By Passenger717625 |

If you look for bang for your buck this is the place. I love the atmosphere and the feel of the room. All ladies are greeted by the hostess with a fresh cut rose. The staff is first class and attend to your needs like your their only guest. The food is outstanding. They provide a house salad made at your table, a sorbet to cleanse your pallet and chocolate covered strawberries on the house. I have been here many times over the years and will continue into the future.

Love this place!

Still one of the best meals in Vegas. The salad-prepared at your table-is worth the price of admission. All meat entrees are perfectly cooked and seasoned. A great value and well paced meal. Terrific service.

Expectations were too high

By SCCarrie |

For 20+years, Vic and Anthony's in the Golden Nugget was our go-to steakhouse when we visited Vegas, but we decided (based on all the positive reviews) to try Hugo's Cellar. We couldn't help but compare it to Vic and Anthony's, and to us, Vic and Anthony's is where we will dine again. This is not to say the Hugo's is disappointing or has bad food. In fact it is a very good value, since the price includes salad prepared at your table (nice touch), potato (paid extra for blue-cheese au gratin potatoes and would not do that again), and a vegetable---plus a sorbet to cleanse the palate, chocolate covered fruit for dessert, and a long-stem rose for the ladies. The sommelier was very helpful and picked a perfect wine for us. But, to us, V & A had better food and atmosphere (dark, quieter, music piped in). That's just our opinion. I'm sure there are others who feel exactly the opposite. Depends what you are looking for. True, V & A is more expensive since everything is al a carte, but the chopped salad/spinach pear salad are worth the $15 price, as are the au gratin potatoes (meant to share), and the decadent bread pudding for dessert is awesome. It was worth trying Hugo's. We're glad we did. It's a very popular place and we recommend it if you are looking for value in a downtown steakhouse. I gave it 4 stars because it has lots going for it. Our expectations were just too high.

Could improve the experience

By Carolynn C |

Very refined but if you don’t look the part you get ignored. Quite cramped if you are not seated in a both. The tables felt like you were on display and in a passageway.

We have eaten at Hugo's cellar every trip to Vegas. This is one of the finest places if not the best place to eat in Vegas. The steaks are outstanding and if you are a salad lover, they come to your table with a salad buffet and the server builds your salad for you when asked your preference of veggies. It's great there! It is pricey but so well worth it. Plus all females are handed a long stem red rose upon arrival.

Close But No Cigar

By Lost_In_Iowa |

Was impressed with the atmosphere and long-stem rose given to my date but that was the best of our experience. We both ordered the salmon which was overcooked and dry. My date’s garlic mashed potatoes were cold as were my au gratin potatoes. The wait staff did not come by to check on us so after I flagged them down and commented on the meal they brought a new side of garlic potatoes but stated that’s the way they prepare the salmon and we should have requested it be cooked shorter. What? Salad was pretty good and lava cake was good.

Wonderful experience-a true old school gem

By Ralph |

Hugo's Cellar was beyond expectation. The service was outstanding. The table side salad and complimentary sides were a wonderful touch, as well as the sherbert to cleanse the palate and the chocolate covered strawberries. The entrees were cooked beautifully, and the portion size was through the roof. Ahmad and his crew were attentive and exceptionally. They treated my wife's 60 birthday as we were family. Highly recommend. S

Hugo's Cellar not the place to go

By JKA9155 |

This had to be the worst food that we ever had and wound up paying over $600 for a party of 5. The Prime Rib was not Prime. It was chewy and you could hardly cut it. The Salmon was under done and the Bananas Foster was the worst. We mentioned something to the waiter, and he took the left-over steak away, never to return. The desert waiter brought us the bill and not the Manager that should have appeared when there was a complaint. We stopped by the Host's Desk and voiced our displeasure, and he just blew it off. I can only say, this place looked classy, but the food was the worst. Vegas has to many good restaurants to through your money away here.

An Old-School Classic

By Chaptak |

An old-school classic, Hugo's Cellar delivered on its promise. I have lived in Las Vegas for over 20 years, and this was my first time at that gem of a restaurant. The food and the service were outstanding. Of course, the price tag is not for the faint of heart. Yet, as a now-and-then indulgence, you can't do much better than this. Highlights: a long-stem rose for every lady walking in; table-side salad preparation; sides included with the main course; separate tip for the sommelier. Excellent!

Classic Vegas steakhouse experience

By Catherine W |

My sister and I had reservations at Hugo’s for the evening of June 29. We were greeted with a single red rose as is their custom, but just for women. not to be a radical feminist, but I have to admit that was not something I was crazy about. They tag team waiter and the service was A+ table side salad. Our water glasses never went empty, and the prime rib was far more than either one of us could eat. There was an intermezzo sherbet course and they delivered the check with strawberries and cream. It was very nice I’m not sure whether I’d go back. It’s rather dated nothing to complain about the food was very good but an $89 prime rib is a lot to spend. Our check came to 220 with one cocktail They insisted on us, taking the roses and put foil around the bottom, and as soon as we left, we handed them to someone We also gave our doggy bags which was over a pound of leftover meat to someone on the street who was very appreciative

Special dinner with my wife

Arrived on time for my reservation. My table was waiting for me. The service from start to finish perfect. My lady received a long stem rose. table side service by professional waiters and waitstaff. We were never hurried and the pace of the meal was great..

Hugo’s

By TerrasTravels |

Omg! How have I never been here?! I absolutely loved this place! It kind of reminded me of the other really famous steak place in town. If you know you know. They have a tableside salad bar that they bring to you. It was so good! Bread was amazing. Steak was amazing. They even give you chocolate covered strawberries, and raspberry ice cream to cleanse the palette, and you get a rose! This was so great! Everything was amazing. The dessert cart looks amazing but I was so cool. They also do a tableside cherries Jubilee and bananas foster. I still can’t believe that. I have never been here. A friend of a friend had one in town and this is their favorite place and they go every year and I guess it’s because I’m rarely downtown, but it was awesome because they validate your parking so you can park right there. They have amazing dirty martinis and the serving size is huge! Service was amazing and the ambience is kind of romantic actually, really cute. You walk down the stairs and it feels like you are walking into old style Vegas, which I absolutely love! I cannot wait to go here again!

Vintage Vegas

By Frank55065 |

For those of us who remember “Old School Vegas” or those who would like to experience what Vegas Fine Dining was like for our Parents. Go to Hugo’s Cellar, the decor, ambiance, Table Captains , fine cuisine, cocktails! I go there every time I visit & order grey goose dry martini, escargot, spinach salad and either prime rib or dover sole. It’s Heaven!!!

Great old school steak house.

By mark c |

2 couples visited Hugo's Cellar last week while we were in Vegas. Located in the 4 Queens hotel, it is a blast from the past. Old school Vegas restaurant. We dined here two years before, and nice to report, the food & service hadn't changed. The food is of course excellent and the table side salad presentation is not to be missed. Order the table side salad and Thank me later. It's the service that sets Hugo's apart from a lot of other fine dining places. You are treated like royalty and every attention to detail, make for an incredible dining experience. Oscar's is great, Top of Binnion's is good too. The strip and of course all of Vegas has some great steak houses, but don't sleep on Hugo's.

One af the better steakhouses in Vegas, very traditinal but up te date

Hugo's Celler is a great steakhouse. Very attentive personel, great food and excellent atmosphere. Old fassioned but nice table service. Make sure that you make a reservation as this place is packed especially in the weekend Very knowledgeable (with Britisch humor) sommolier John has great advises when you are looking for affordable wines

Magnifique Dinner experience at Hugo's Celler

By Jeremy E |

Hugo's Celler is a 5+ star Fine Dining restaurant Here are a few points on the Magnifique Dinner experience at Hugo's Celler 0) Hugo's Celler is located within Four of Queens lower level 1) Greeted in a Professional manner by a Host and Ladies are given Roses 2) As seated, Ladies order first in a professional manner 3) Server answers any and all questions related to the menu and does not judge guests on anything, you're basically being waited on, but you end up serving yourself in a Romantic immersive cellar 4) Hugo's Celler serves a complete customizable Salad and is Magnifique 5) I've visited Hugo's Celler on two occasions and ordered on my first time Atlantic Salmon and on my second time Filet Mignon Well done Atlantis Style and both entrees were Magnifique 6) I loved both visits and would visit again given the opportunity.

Intimate dining with top-shelf food and service.

By Michael R |

From the moment our party of 7 descended the steps into Hugo’s Cellar, we were treated to the finest of dining experiences. Our waiter, sommelier, and salad chef were professional and attentive. All the food was delicious, and the wine cellar was (as one would expect) fully stocked with a wide range of fine and finer wines. The “$$$$” rating is misleading…the cost of a nice steak dinner here will be less than at comparable steak houses in Las Vegas.

Fantastic romantic dinner

By Yannis girl |

From the time you walk in to the time you leave, this place has A1 service across the board! Enjoyed the whole experience from the rose I recieved when I walked in to the salad made tableside to the raspberry sorbet to cleanse our palletts to the beef wellington to the chocolate covered strawberries to seal the meal and the suprise lava cake for our anniversary!! Great service don't change a thing we will definitely be back!!! Can't stop raving about how great it was

Disappointed

By dcain4uga |

Hugo's Cellar is overrated. The prices should be half what they charge. The food was bland. Everything needed salt! The service was impeccable though. The dress code was not enforced. I showed up in a dress and heels. My husband in slacks and long sleeved dress shirt. We were seated next to a guy in an Hawaiian shirt and shorts. The potatoes were good with salt added, The filet was okay with salt added. The best thing I had were the chocolate covered strawberries. Go to The Steakhouse at Circus, Circus, The Golden Steer or Top of the world if you want a great steak. Our food at Battista's, Hash House, Rebar, Chart House at The Golden Nugget was so much better and didn't cost $300!

Meh

By dwrn54 |

So we went here for my birthday dinner. The waiter came by and wished us a happy anniversary, I corrected him and told him it was my birthday, not anniversary. I ordered au gratin potatoes, they were undercooked and cold. The salad had way too much dressing on it. The steak was very good. Cozy place. At the end of our meal our waiter brought me out a small lava cake, and said , Happy Anniversary, really? So now we can cross this off our bucket list for our Vegas visits. No need to return.

Not worth the $200 tab

By m k |

Tart Chicken was very dry and no flavor or seasonings, better salads could be had at Golden Corral buffet. Lobster bisque was good but barely any lobster. New York strip steak was not seasoned at all, it was not tender and served raw in the middle and cold (ordered medium to med well) Garlic mashed potatoes had no garlic and needed salt. Mushrooms were tasty and asparagus was not cooked. Old fashioned cocktail was great. Service was good. Atmosphere was not as advertised. For $200 I do not want to be seated next to a six seat table full of kids hollering and running around. It was ridiculous. This is NOT worth the money and over hyped.

Old Vegas, ambience, top-tier food, and service

By Paul |

If you are on Fremont Street and want to have a really, really good meal, make sure you make reservations for Hugo's Cellar. The service is friendly and efficient, and the food is absolutely stunning. It is presented extremely well, flavor quality is amazing. The wine steward, John, is like a combination, stand-up, comic and wine expert-very entertaining and knowledgeable. Highly recommended and I will go back again!

Hugo’s Delivers Again

By marcusr |

We went out of our way to visit Hugo’s after having a great experience a few years ago. Classic dishes, attentive staff and a traditional steakhouse vibe is what makes Hugo’s what it is. We can’t wait to go back again. Dinner portions are large so we split beef wellington. The salad service is great. Overall great experience.

Going Back

By rvisdew |

This is one of the few restaurants where the ‘sides’ are included in the price of the entry. Women all get a rose! Who does that? We enjoyed a pre-dinner cocktail at our table (special mention to Dean at the bar for his great talents) and then followed up with our entry. Included is a salad made table-side – fantastic! My wife had surf & turf while I order the filet … steaks are incredibly tender and the included sides where excellent! Prices for this upscale restaurant are reasonable when you consider that the ‘sides’ are included. Excellent service and excellent food … Can’t beat this place!

Not good!

By JDK1952 |

Not sure when I have ever complained to or about a restaurant! First, the French onion soup was delicious. Went down from there! The lobster and shrimp was horrible. Could not ea either! ! The rib eye came out cool and had to be sent back! The ribeye was tough and could not eat. The filet mignon was average at best. This restaurant was high priced and the food did not measure up! Very disappointing and will never eat there again!

Not impressed!

By Talli C |

This place was very pricey and the food was below average! We paid $170 for dinner for two. Had surf and turf and my husband had the salmon. Nice place but just WAY overpriced!

The Peoples Champion for Steak in Vegas

By Mike |

Okay. Im a regular guy who likes to go to Vegas every year or so to eat and drink too much and gamble a bit with a good buddy. I don't like to gamble with Steak however. So Denny's and $7 Steak and eggs specials at 2 am are off the table for me. A work colleague recommended Hugo's Cellar to me. So we checked it out. You may not find this place in the free magazine they leave in your room or on the hot spots to visit but you should. The 4 Queens is not the classiest place DT but when you walk down the steps to Hugo s everything fades away and is out of mind. This place was pretty classy for me as I normally only do an Outback or Keg Steakhouse back home. So I'm not a high roller. Its a nicer place with some history. I cant say enough about the service and the quality of the meal. We had wine, broke bread, salad and Rib eye steaks and it was fantastic. Probably the best rib eye I have ever had - pure flavor. I think the steak is 16 oz and $60 bucks. Its basically $100 each for a great meal. Nice and quiet and pleasant and dark with a nice old school feel. Whatever we tipped it probably wasn't enough. The waiter was great, they had a wine Sommelier - he knows wine, and a gentleman who made our salads table side - they were really good. I basically felt like they wanted to provide us with a good experience and they did. Pound for pound one of the best steaks in Vegas. That being said I have not gone to any high end - high roller Steak houses where you need an AMEX Black. So do what you will with it, but its a high percentage play, so give it a shot. Thanks. M.

Masquerading as a good restaurant

By justvisiting_9 |

We really wanted to have a good meal, but this place was a joke. Our waiter Jaime tried no less than four times upsell us to purchase cocktails, then tried to educate me on the difference between a filet and a strip or a ribeye. I wanted to tell him that I am not an idiot and in my 62 years, I’ve had a few steaks. In fact I would go to the Capitol Grille when it first opened at the original location back in the 1990s. I then stood up, found the hostess and asked to remove Jaime and give me a different waiter. It actually went downhill after that. My companion ordered a rack of lamb, it came out over cooked, my steak was definitely not aged like the menu stated and like any Kroger steak. The fancy table side salad had brown and dried out “fresh” mushrooms and although I ordered vinaigrette the waiter added honey walnut due to not paying attention. The bread was stale, so I asked for another bread basket, and that came out stale. The assistant manager came over and asked how the food was, I gave it a simple job to get me some bread that was not stale, she came back with more stale bread and tried to tell me it was a special type of Italian sourdough! Well perhaps they’re used to having unsophisticated lesser educated clientele.

Terrible

Terrible will never try to dine here again worst place on Fremont. Will be sure to tell everyone I know about it !!!

A wonderful meal in a truly old school place

By Brandon K |

This place is well worth going to the Freemont street area to track down in the basement of the Four Queens. I had no idea how long it had been around, but I read that it has been there since the 1970s. The sommelier, John, has a great attitude and is the complete antithesis of the stuffy person you would expect. He also spends a lot of time keeping his prices very reasonable for those that know to come seek him out. We had a great wine that was less than 2x retail price, which is unheard of, and he is proud of it in his 41 years of being there. The steaks are wonderful. My wife and I shared the large cut of the prime rib and paid the split plate cost. I swear I got a full size prime rib cut anyway. The salad trolley is a gorgeous thing to see where everyone gets exactly what they want. With all the sides, I really like the risotto and our friends got the scalloped potatoes. Three of us had martinis, and they come out completely old school in chilled crystal containers to keep the rest of your drink cold while you drink the first half. Yes, the place is expensive but its also very reasonable compared to the cost of a strip-based Vegas steakhouse. It is 100% worth it and I look forward to when I can find my way back here again.

Great Birthday Treat

By Steve Sparkhall |

My Wife took me to this renowned establishment to celebrate my 65th birthday. I received a warm welcome , my wife was presented with a rose and the maitre de showed us to our booth. The restaurant was full for our visit on the 4th September,We had pre dinner cocktails which were plentiful and to a very high standard. Our bread arrived, the butter ornately carved . The Lobster bisque was probably my best ever , My wife had the wrapped prawns .The salad trolley was a very entertaining feature of the meal. The Sommelier (from Leeds of all places ) brought us our favourite champagne and aided us with our wine selections.Beef Wellington and Chicken with sour cherries were our main courses of choice , so plentiful , we had to bypass the dessert trolley . We did share my birthday chocolate lava cake which was presented on the house. At around $500 including service , we thought this very good value .

We could not have been happier!

By deeb700 |

In Vegas for a birthday trip to see Carrie Underwood. We were starving and my son, who used to live in Vegas, said he'd heard great things about Hugo's. I felt underdressed but the maitre d assured me it was OK. We loved the roses, the salad made at the table, the breads, our entrees we're fabulous (the green peppercorn sauce was GREAT). They bring in hot towels prior to dessert. It was worth every penny!!

Best place on Fremont for nice dinner

By Jil K |

Old school vintage Vegas vibe. Good value for a steakhouse dinner. Entree comes with salad, sides and dessert. Nice long dinner - slow and not rushed through the courses. Service was excellent. Would be nice if they offered more salad dressings - a basic Italian ranch or blue cheese dressing would have been much better

Loved this place!

By Lisa S |

We so enjoyed this meal! The attention to detail and the care of each and every guest is outstanding. The table side salad creation is an extra special touch as well. I had the beef Wellington and I can’t imagine anything better, absolutely delicious! If you are looking for a special occasion restaurant, just go... you won’t regret it!

Great service. Cool setting

By Darren63 |

Service was 5 star. My wife and I both had the ribeye. Mine was nailed - perfectly rare. My wife asked for medium rare but was probably closer to medium. Tableside salad was really good. My daughter had the pasta dish (can’t remember the name) and she wasn’t fond of it. Only complaint was the sides were not served hot but rather lukewarm. I’d give it another shot.

Disappointed

By spotdog |

We were looking forward to trying Hugo’s based on recommendations from friends as well as reviews. It does have a nice, old Italian restaurant feel with a rose for ladies and traditional service - table side salad (good) , sorbet between meals and a chocolate strawberry with dried fruit to finish the meal - but … the steak and pasta dish were just okay. We found the food at nearby Andiamo better. Felt like we were eating dinner in someone’s 1970s basement.

Not the same Hugo’s

By Karol D |

We have gone to Hugo’s many times. This visit did not meet our expectations. We were seated in an area where the waitstaff went zooming by. I think our table was on the flight path into the restaurant. Waitress was busy waiting on larger tables and not us. Food was good but should be. I don’t know if we will return to our favorite spot again.

Very Disappointing and Way Overpriced

By Rebadallas8790 |

This restaurant is way overpriced. The ribeye was chewy and the entire entree including the mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts were extremely salty. The sommelier was snotty, the rest of the service was average. Save some bucks and go to the Steak n Shake next door.

23rd Anniversary

By Erin S |

don't even know where to start. Last night was supposed to be special, memorable and fun. Hugo's did not provide that at all. We chose Hugo's over a new steak house because we've been before and loved the experience. Last night was so disappointing. No one, not one person there wished us a Happy anniversary. (It was listed on the reservation that we were celebrating.) We waited over 30 minutes in between the sorbet after the salad to get our main dish. No one not one person in that 30 minutes came by and offered a drink, a wine list or anything. There was a woman filling water glasses who tried to be attentive but was not our server. We were in the middle of the dining room right at the front, you couldn't miss us! There was a table that had been seated after us that was eating desert before we even received our main course. Beyond being disappointed that what was a $300+ meal was so un classy. We dressed up and looked forward to this night as with our kids and busy schedules we don't get to go out on the town too much. Having the waiter bring our food and forwardly tell us that their way of solving our disappointment was to comp our meal. This didn't fix anything and unfortunately made us feel like you just didn't even care and the sooner we were gone the better. It's a shame because we would have ordered that bottle to toast with our meal. It would've probably been easier for us to go back to the bar and ask for another Blanton's but we should not have to do that. By the way your bartender was the friendliest of the staff and efficient. Everyone else was sub par and I unfortunately can't recommend that anyone spend their money in your establishment. We did our best not to let this experience ruin our night but it just set a whole tone and was upsetting. What once was a restaurant with class and a dress code, an ambiance and experience; is now a free for all with no class! Thank you for ruining my 23rd, yes 23 years, Anniversary!

Spectacular

By mark c |

Not sure how anyone could have had a bad experience here. Of course anyone can have a perceived bad experience at anytime at any place, so that can happen. I can only say our time at Hugo's Cellar was excellent. Every aspect of our dining experience was superb. We were celebrating our friends 35th wedding anniversary. Our party of 7 were promptly greeted and asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. We mentioned the anniversary and were congratulated and all of the women in the party were presented with a rose. If you haven't read any reviews or know nothing of Hugo's, they are one of only a handful of "old school" steak houses left in Vegas. You can tell immediately when you enter the restaurant. While immaculately clean & organized, you can tell it has the untouched feeling of an older dining space. We were promptly seated in a semi private room meant to accommodate a party of 6 or more. We were made to feel special from the beginning. At times it felt like they were taking care of our party exclusively, although the restaurant was very busy for a Sunday evening. Waters were poured and drink orders were taken. As we looked over the menu, we were explained the dining options, since no-one in our party had dined there before. We had been to Oscars & the Top of Binions but never Hugo's. All meals include table side salad preparation, which days later continued to be the talk of our party. How can a salad be more than just a salad. You will find out when you dine there. The salad alone could be your meal and we all would have walked away happy, but this was just the 1st course. There was a nice bread selection brought with the salad. Our drinks arrived and our orders were taken. After the salad course, they serve a lime sorbet to cleanse the palette. A nice touch. Lobster tails, Rib-eye steak, New York strip, filets, were the selections for our evening. Split plates are allowed, as well as split plates with double sides for an added expense. All of our entrees arrived in a short time and were beyond spectacular. I consider myself and my party "foodies" so we know a great restaurant from a good one. Hugo's qualified for the great category. A desert course ends the meal. We had a selection of strawberries, dates, figs, & apricots, dipped or drizzled in chocolate & white chocolate. Other desserts are available to purchase and looked very nice. Unfortunately we were all too satisfied to add anything but a cup of coffee. We all had a great time, and while we all love to explore new dining options on our trips to Las Vegas, we all agreed, we will come back to Hugo's very soon.

Very Disappointed at Hugos Cellar LV

By leather227 |

We have had several meals at Hugos in the past and enjoyed them. This visit for our anniversary and my birthday was very disappointing. We had reservations at 5p and was promptly seated. We ordered two glasses of champagne. They seemed disappointed that we didn’t order a bottle. I’ve had a gastric sleeve in the past so I have to limit my intake. We ordered two table side salads (24.00 each) and the seafood on ice for two (75.00). The waiter seemed disappointed that we didn’t order a big meal, yet again, I can’t eat much and unfortunately seafood isn’t good as a takeout. The service was poor after that. We weren’t asked if we wanted additional drinks. The plates were removed promptly and we just felt they weren’t interested in providing additional service. They did give me a piece of chocolate lava cake for my birthday, which I appreciated, but asked them for it to be boxed to go. They brought it out boxed in a plain white plastic bag, not the classic Hugos bag. Our total was 156.00 and we left a 100.00 tip. I hope it made them realize that just because customers don’t order huge items, there could be legit reasons. As I said earlier, we’ve been there many times. Always enjoyed the food and this visit on a special occasion was very disappointing. I doubt that I will recommend them again or that we will return. Oh and the pic shows, the seafood wasn’t on ice, just a bed of seaweed and not the best quality for the cost.

Why do I always pick a steak

By Neil W |

Basically, excessive prices, poor food however the salad was very good. My ribeye ($85) was unseasoned and not a very good cut of meat, had better at Outback and a quarter of the price. Several fingerling potatoes were under cooked. Stacey had the veal scallopini, Oscar style. The sauce was inedible.

Not the same Hugos standard of excellence

By Charles |

Hugos is the place to go for impeccable service and great food. I have been going here for over 25 years and have brought my daughter for her birthday the last four. Let me say things are NOT the same as they used to be. Impeccable service has slipped to average at best. This used to be the kind of place that if you moved your glass to the wrong place someone would show up out of nowhere and put things back in order. If crumbs were on the table someone would show up out of nowhere and scoop them up. Now ... dishes left on the table when done. hostess had major attitude like we were a bother to her and basically tossed the menus on the table and walked away. No greeting just curtly said follow me and took off. First time ever in 25 years that the lady accompanying me did not have her chair pulled out for her. Again this was a birthday celebration and she had the most elegant dress on not that should matter on getting her chair pulled out. Gentleman who took our order talked in slang?! dirty plates left on table . salad guy acted like he resented having to do the salad. cherries jubilee is usually quite the show ... not this time. It is soo sad to say this all but Hugos Cellar is NOT what it used to be and quite honestly I doubt we will be back next year or during our usual 4 times a year visit to Vegas. Not for the money you spend there. Too many other choices in town . Again its a sad day that they have changed will miss the old Hugos standard of excellence.

Ambient & Romantic Dinner Date

By Jake T |

I was aware of Hugo's Cellar due to numerous recommendations from friends and family. This glowing reputation is well deserved! I took my girlfriend here for a date and the incredible service is apparent from the get-go with a complimentary rose for the lady before being seated. The menu is rather pricey, but the quality of food and unbeatable ambiance warrants the higher cost. Salad is prepared at table-side, and you choose exactly what toppings you'd like. My girlfriend ordered the salmon, and I tried the Hugo's Chicken, both of which were delicious. Her red wine and my Laphroaig (neat) complemented our meals perfectly, and the Banana's Foster for dessert capped off the exceptional meal. I would recommend Hugo's Cellar as a perfect date spot without a doubt.

Excellent experience

We had such a wonderful time and a great meal. The atmosphere is great for a fancy date night or a casual date night. Which ever you prefer.

WORST 65th Anniversary Party EVER

By Kelly U |

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER for my Parents 65th ANNIVERSARY and they could have cared less.. This was the letter sent to the general manager with NO respsonse. It WAS AWFUL. We had a party of 14. Thank you for sending the itemized receipt to me for our meal on January 7th. While I appreciate that you removed some of the overcharges, I have to say that I'm appalled that you still found it reasonable to charge us for my parent's meal. We explained to you on the first phone call that it had to be sent back to the kitchen due to their steak being full of gristle and it was too tough to cut. The second steak was brought to them in a box after the entire party of 14 had finished eating. So they sat and watched everyone else eat at their party as the guests of honor. As you know, and I explained to you it was their 65th anniversary celebration. Honestly, the overall experience at Hugo's was mediocre at best. I worked in the service industry for many years, and even at a low-end restaurant they strive for better service and quality. At a minimum, a meal that is sent back is taken off the check. The second steak that they boxed up and sent in to-go containers was not any better than the first one. My parents ended up throwing the entire meal in the trash. We also told you that our shrimp on the steak and shrimp plates was small and not even close to the advertised so-called jumbo as described on the menu and very undercooked. As you know, my sister and I have been to this establishment many times and have always had a great experience. That is why we chose Hugo's for this special celebration, made reservations weeks in advance, and made the trip downtown when we were staying on the strip. This is supposed to be a highly-rated establishment and frankly, we deserved better service and quality for the price of this meal. Yesterday, I shared with you that my mom told the servers she had a severe shellfish allergy. After eating at Hugo's, she got extremely sick from the salad being mixed with shrimp utensils. On her anniversary celebration, she had a severe allergic reaction that required the use of an EpiPen. She threw up all night and was miserable on a night that should have been special. My sister and I and all of their grandchildren traveled from all over the United States to share this dinner with my parents. This experience ruined 2 days of their anniversary trip. My sweet parents are in their 80s and what happened at your restaurant was not okay or safe for my mom and could have ended with dire consequences. Not to mention my father was stressed and worried and had to care for her in an urgent medical situation due to the carelessness of your staff. People at their age do not just bounce back the next day, she was tired and felt terrible into the following night. Your staff asked us at the beginning of service if anyone had allergies (which I assume is standard protocol) and were told of her allergy. A shift meeting to address the issue weeks later does not begin to compensate for the reality of my elderly parent's situation. Stephen, I do not feel you did enough to right this entire situation. Therefore, I am requesting the contact information for your direct supervisor so that I can share my concerns with him/her. Contrary to what you may think, we are not the type of people who complain. We are happy to pay for great service and excellent food. But between all the extra unsubstantiated charges and unexplained mystery items on the first receipt, my mom's illness, the overall quality of the food and service, it needs to be taken to the next level. Both my sister and I are not satisfied with the outcome. I do feel that your servers treated us with disrespect and thought we would not realize they were upcharging us and adding in extra items. I look forward to a prompt response.

Old Vegas gourmet room, pretty good food

By Crack-O-Noon |

I've only eaten here twice, once with my family and once with my son and one of his friends. This place is Old Vegas nice and the food is quite good. I have no doubt that some places on the Strip are better, but at substantially more cost. I honestly don't remember what I got, but all of us liked it. The Caesar's salad is prepared tableside, and there are about a dozen things you can have thrown in. I'm pretty much a purist when it comes to Ceasar's salads, but in any event I enjoyed mine. We didn't get desert but they brought out some complementary sweets. I think it was chocolate covered strawberries. In any event, we liked it. They jacked up their steak prices about six months ago (after my visits) and I suppose it isn't quite the value it was. But it's still a somewhat good deal compared to high-end restaurants on the Strip.

Great food and unbelievable service!

Our visit to Hugo’s was such a treat. They were attentive and helpful. The food was delicious and well prepared. We especially appreciated the attention to even the smallest details. Great food and outstanding service is a rarity. We will definitely be back when we are in town again.

Dangerously Irresponsible

By CanadaGoose |

Visited on Valentines and the first question asked was if we had any allergies. YES, SEAFOOD!!! The waiter entered it into his ordering tablet and then they proceeded to serve me a salad dressing containing anchovy. Spending my evening violently ill vomiting on Fremont Street is not very nice. I notified the restaurant and was told I left the restaurant so couldn’t prove it was an allergy caused by them, implying drinking was involved even though there was no alcohol showing on my bill. I requested a refund and was told to dispute it with my credit card company. Sad customer service indeed not to mention the danger caused by triggering a seafood allergy. Might I also include that my husband's the beef Wellington was doughy on the outside and far too rear in the center.

could not be more disappointed

Had reservations, were there for our 25th wedding anniversary on September 7th, 2022. When we were seated I told the man the booth table was a little tight for my stomach. He looked at me and walked off. Our waiter, Vidal was nice, took our order for two surf and turf's. He prepared a very nice salad at our table. That was the last we saw of him until he gave us our bill. My wife's steak, ordered medium, was blood red raw. We showed the man, who poured us more water, the blood red steak and told him it was too raw for my wife to eat. He said he was sorry. My wife also did not care for the shrimp covered in peppercorn sauce. The chocolate covered strawberry for desert was excellent. We also had a free chocolate lava cake for desert for our anniversary. It was at least 45 minutes from the last time we had seen Vidal. AFTER we paid our bill Vidal thanked us for coming and was glad we enjoyed our meal and hoped we would come back. I about choked. I told him about the blood red medium steak and he said we should have told him sooner. I told him we had not seen him since the salad and started making excuses someone else should have told him. If you want to pay $80 for a five ounce steak and four peppercorn covered shrimp I would go somewhere else. My wife had only some nice rice and veggies for her dinner. Hugo's certainly ruined our special anniversary dinner.

Old School All the Way

By G_J_Travelers_2010 |

We had reservations at 7:15PM on 12/11/22. We were so excited to dine here. Walked down the famous cellar steps to an old school waiting area, bar and entrance to the restaurant. We were early and opted for a drink at the bar, Have a Martini. Made and served very classy. Bartender was fantastic. I don't recall his name. Table was ready. They give a fresh rose to all women. Table was roomy in the main room. We had a staff of waiters that explained the menu and provided top notch service. I ordered the NY Strip. The lady ordered Salmon. The meals come with tableside prepared Cesar salad, potato, veggies. My lady wanted her salmon rare which caused an issue. Waiter advised he will try. It came out well done. My lady didn't enjoy. However, my NY Strip was awesome. Nothing left on my plate! There was more discussion about the Salmon preparation between my lady and head waiter while I had coffee and a complimentary dessert plate. Manager( was professional and fantastic) came over, expressed his sincere concern for her displeasure and did the right thing. We are both looking forward to our next visit. I highly suggest you try Hugo's Cellar.

Service was good but over priced for the quality of food.

By John |

The service was excellent. The females got a rose when we walked in but the food was terrible. My wife ordered the crab legs and I ordered the ribeye steak. Her crab legs were still cold and my steak was hard and flavorless. Would not recommend this restaurant.

Hugo's Cellar

Hugo's Cellar on Fremont Street in Las Vegas is a great place to go for quality steaks and much more. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating to make sure that you have the best meal. I have had a really good experience every time I have been here.

Always an A+ experience

By Wendy C |

I just rated Hugo’s a couple of months ago but am back to rate again. This restaurant is a must do for every visit to Las Vegas. The experience alone is like no other. The food quality and service are superb. My husband always sticks with the ribeye but I get different things each visit. The Australian lobster tails are what I chose this time and they were amazing! The table side salad was delicious as always. I was not able to partake in the complimentary chocolate covered fruit because I was entirely too full from my meal. My husband said it was delicious!

Won’t be back

By rwoehst |

Had been here 20+ years ago & thought it’d be fun to revisit. (+) service was great & very friendly. (-) food prices were CRAZY even by steakhouse standards (Morton’s, Ruth Chris, Palm etc). Soup $28. Five stuffed mushrooms $28. Smallest filet on menu was $90. Fee to split an entree $40. You get the idea. Steaks were fine. Won’t return.

Wonderful dining experience

By betsnow |

I believe this gem has been here for 48 years. It is like stepping back into time as you walk down into the cellar of the Four Queens and enter the dimly lit bar of Hugo's. We decided to try Hugo's given it's rich history and I love a restaurant that stands the test of time. Each lady receives a long stemmed rose when they walk in, they have little vases on the tables you can put them in. Our server was actually a team of three that took great care of us... as I looked around at all the full tables it is is clear people love this place. I was pleasantly surprised after impulsively ordering a Manhattan (not my normal drink, maybe the old dark 70's vibe made me do it) when they brought me the chilled glass and a little ice bucket with decanter in it. It was more like 2 drinks... and I never get upset at being brought too much of a cocktail! The menu has a lot of the traditional chop house type entree's. I was quite surprised how reasonable the prices were given it is not ala carte like many higher end restaurants - you got a table side salad, veggie and potato/rice with every entrée. We had the jumbo shrimp cocktail (YUM) and the house made sauces were delicious. The table side salad construction which I absolutely loved did not disappoint. My Hubs had the filet mignon, I had chicken and both were very good. They surprised us with a dessert at the end - some sort of chocolate heaven I will say that. Hugo's was definitely a fun, lovely place to celebrate our anniversary.

A perfect anniversary dinner

By Andy S |

Surprised my wife with a 20th anniversary dinner at Hugo's Cellar. This place has been on our bucket list for years as we are both obsessed with retro old Vegas. I regret waiting so long. The dinner, service, presentation, etc... were all over the top perfect. I can't express enough how this is more than a nice dinner, it is a full experience. The staff out of their way to make sure that every guest feels special. and the service is top notch. Thank you for giving us a special night.

You don’t come for the food.

By Ann0426 |

The best part of this 1960’s Rat Pack hangout is our sommelier who has seen it all for 39 years. He was courtly, knowledgeable and gave us some fascinating stories. The ladies received a long stem red rose and our table side salad was quite good. The food is not why you would make the trip. Our friends who have not experienced Fremont street rounds out their Vegas adventure. Downtown is a better gaming experience than the strip and the guys learned to play craps. All considered , we got what we came for at Hugos.

OVERPRICED, NOT POPULAR OPINION I KNOW

By sickofwinter07 |

Group of 7 Service- excellent, friendly, fast, enjoyable Food- six got steak - I got seafood trio. The texture of the salmon made me a bit nervous. Kinda mushy. Steaks done as requested. My dinner was OK. Pretty bland for sure. Everyone said they liked their steak. I had a few bites of steak and it was tender, but bland. Gravy provided- that was also bland. Salad- salad service at table. Loved this! Choose your toppings. Desert- figs and apricots (?) drizzled in chocolate and chocolate covered strawberries included. Plenty for all of us. Rose- women get a rose upon entry. Warm towel- warm and damp towels provided for hands after dinner Price- sorry - Know this is Vegas and you pay for the experience, but I also know from experience this was overpriced. Drinks- OK so here a martini (which is two glasses) was only $10.00. That was way cheap for Vegas- I was shocked. (See, I am not cheap, I was expecting $15.00 to $20.00) Chocolate cake- OOOOOO nice and warm. Excellent Lemon Sorbet- delicious given to you to clean your pallet. Go again? Sure, but probably won't go out of my way for it.

Party like it's 2019

By Charles R |

After 9 months of hiding from the pandemic, our wanderlust was even more infectious. A weekend in Vegas isn't exactly a big trip, but most of the rest of world is closed to us. And for at least a couple of hours, we could forget about masks, distancing, and all the rest in the most delicious and delightful way. In Hugo's Cellar, the wine is well selected and the advice professional, the traditional tableside build-it-yourself salad is alive and well, the bleu cheese-crusted steaks or tart cherry chicken in port reduction or any number of other dishes are delectable and filling, the sides -- such as bleu cheese and horseradish au gratin potatoes -- are rich and creative. And those desserts like Bananas Foster and Cherries Jubilee are still flamed tableside in a throwback to the days of high class in Vegas. Wash them down with a Hugo specialty coffee involving brandy or cordials and the evening is complete. Covid, you are forgotten. For a brief but blissful couple of hours, the world seems right again.

Excellent Hideaway Restaurant

By Gary H |

Hugos Was in the back of the Four Seasons Casino and down a barely noticeable staircase. I was greeted by the host who immediately seated me. Service was provided by a team of servers working with one another. The main course includes an excellent salad prepared table side to include anchovies and a variety of your favorite items. A small cone with raspberry sherbet was served to cleanse the palate between the salad and main entree. I had the Ribeye which was prepared perfectly at Medium. The Horseradish Potatoes were cooked in a pan with a crispy bottom and topped with an excellent cheese. A side of asparagus, rolls accompanied the main entree. Desert (included) was a white chocolate dipped strawberry with a cup of sweet cream. Service was excellent. The ladies at other tables were given a red rose after dinner and before departing.

Super disappointed

By Audrea |

I was really looking forward to this dinner out of all our dinners in Vegas.....I did a ton of research into where we would be going for supper, knowing it would be at least $200 for the meal. 😞 I ordered the duck which I don't get very often. And it was cooked well done.... for those of you that eat duck know it should be mid rare.... the waiter told me that the chef will not cook it mid rare, that he won't even eat it because it always comes out dry and overcooked. He even wentl back and asked and the chef if he could cook it mid rare and he wouldn't even cooked it correctly. I even Googled how duck should be cooked just in case I was wrong... it says mid rare, slightly pink. This was the meal that I was looking forward to the most out of all our dinners. Then to add insult to injury they charged me $22 for the salad I had that was suppose to come with my meal! I asked to speak to the manager and she came out to address me, but you could tell that she wasn't even listening to what I was saying, she said she would just take it off the bill, but didn't even listen to what I was saying and just wanted to get rid of me. So no dinner for me and such a disappointing experience... I was looking forward to the bananas foster, my husband has been talking about it for years, but I guess we will still wait. With so many choices in Vegas, I would recommend trying somewhere else

Remember Fremont St. isn't a quality place...

By Traveling-as-a-way-of-life |

Absolutely the worst, toughest piece of meat I've ever had in Las Vegas. Medium rare is one thing. Addressing tough and srtingy is done in house, and clearly wasn't done before our dinner. I couldn't even cut this meat reasonably, and when I did it took forever to chew. Remember this place is on Fremont St. The prime rib "Hugo Cut" at $99 wasn't worth $10.00. Two others in our party ordered the ribeye. YOU WOULD EXPECT a decent ribeye to be more than an inch thick, tender and juicy.... Not here. Attentive service. Drinks were good. For a steak dinner in Vegas at the prices they charge, go elsewhere.

Excellent place to go!!

By Renee W |

We went last night as a last minute decision, while visiting Downtown, without reservation. The staff were very hospitable, making a spot for us! We were in for a real treat, starting with a rose, top service and excellent food! We always rate a spot by will we go back- and it is a definite yes!!!

Anniversary dinner with a surprise

By Midwest Traveling Man |

We like hitting this place up while in town. Great atmosphere. Top notch staff. Amazing food. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and they took extra good care of us with surprising us with a dessert. I cannot express the work that this staff puts in for an amazing experience. There are some flashier places and some more expensive places but this one is as good as any of the other steak houses I’ve ate at in Las Vegas. It is truly a hidden gem and should be on more people’s radars.

Treated like royalty

By Angie W |

I have been waiting to try this place for a while. EVERYTHING was outstanding: meal, service, atmosphere....! I asked my husband how he liked it. The best I have ever gotten from him in the past is "pretty good". He said Hugo's was "excellent". Getting an excellent from my husband is like getting a Michelin Star! Hugo's has a way of making you feel like you are a king and queen with the little extras like the long stemmed rose, sorbet and chocolate covered strawberries, figs and apricots.

A really bad meal.

By Sightsee469258 |

I have eaten here a number of times over the last twenty years. I was shocked at how bad this was. My New York steak was tasteless. The potatoes au gratin were cold. There were 4 of us and all had a bad entree. The bread was old and stale. This restaurant needs to be overhauled. I felt terrible bringing people to dinner here.

Disappointing

By deborah v |

I really wanted to love this old Vegas restaurant but sadly, I cannot. Service is spectacular and it’s has all the cool vibes that one can expect of an old basement but I was disappointed in the food . My husband had the veal and it was tender and sauced well but not spectacular. I love Duck but it was not at all crispy and the fat didn’t render so I could barely eat it. The table side salad was delicious as were the drinks. It was a very expensive meal but we would t mind if the food was great. Fir that price, I expect the meal to wow me!

Anniversary

By Budda11 |

My wife and I along with our friends came here for our anniversary. This was our second time here and we absolutely loved it! We arrived early and had drinks at the little bar where the bartender was super friendly. Once we sat for dinner we had shrimp cocktail for a appetizer which was great. The bread they serve is wonderful!! Then they have the table side salad which is so good! My wife and I split a ribeye that was perfection!! By this time we’re pretty full but you HAVE to make room for the banana foster!!! The best dessert I’ve had!!! Soo good! After all that they brought us out a wonderful chocolate cake for our anniversary!! We will definitely come back again next time we are in Vegas!!!!

5 star service, 3 star food

By Patricia P |

we stopped in after a show, and were seated immediately without reservations. We had both read rave reviews, but were disappointed with the food. The service was 5 stars, the food 3 stars. My husband had a filet mignon that he said had tendons or something in it, he knows his steaks and said it was not good at all. I had the cherry chicken, which looked good, but besides being WAY more food than I expected, it was pretty dry. There were tender pieces in the middle, I should have just dug in to find those, but by then it was too late and I was full. The salad prepared at the table was OK, I think I added some items that didn't go with caesar dressing, so that was my fault. Beautiful rose, though, that lasted all week and I had to leave while it was still open. Nice little fruit plate at the end with delicious chocolate covered (generously covered) strawberries. I thought maybe they just had a new cook or something, but my husband said the cut of meat itself was not up to par.

Good food

By LostInTime |

The place is in the basement of a casino. It’s old school. The service was outstanding. The food was just ok. Most steakhouses in this price range have better food. The prime rib was a large portion.

End to a Great weekend

By Joe T |

We felt very lucking to have capped our weekend with our final dinner at Hugo’s Celler! Our waiter and wine sommelier was great. All the courses were great. The table side salad was outstanding and the Steaks were great too! We loved ending our weekend with this great dinner.

You Gotta Love This Place

By Port of Indecision |

This is an intimate setting where they greeted my wife with a rose. It seems to be the last of the old school restaurants that serves you a full meal without breaking the menu down into sides. We started by ordering a wine and were assisted by wine steward that helped immensely, and ordering our appetizer which was then followed by our meal which included a salad served to order. I went for the caesar which in the first time in a long time I was able to get anchovies for. They followed with a sorbet and then my beef wellington which was cooked perfectly. We had to pass on the crème brûlée, but were given the chocolate covered strawberries and fruit that came with the meal to take home. This was another great experience where we felt we had the whole staff waiting on us.

Just perfect

By David C |

Had such a wonderful and romantic dinner with my girlfriend for our 3 years anniversary. Everything is just perfect. The service is absolutely stunning, the atmosphere is so romantic, the food of great… and even the pricing a fine for such a nice restaurant.

Birthday trip

By Wes W |

Had dinner Friday night March 3rd at Hugo's Cellar.... Absolutely phenomenal! Was there for my fiance's birthday and they made it a very special night our servers and other support staff were extremely helpful and attentive. I've eaten here multiple times and it never ever disappoints

Fantastic old school Vegas joint

By 007DAWG |

In the basement of the Four Queens downtown, absolute fantastic old school Vegas location. The unique table side salad service, the food the excellent sommelier, the Fantastic service make this excellent choice for a special night out in Las Vegas.

Awesome food and great experience!

By KidsRev |

We were able to get a reservation at the last minute the week of Christmas and was so glad we did! The food was incredible - my daughter and I was able to split a filet meal and they split the food for us. The table side salads were amazing and the mini lemon freeze slushes they give you to "cleanse your pallet" were wonderful. We had a minimum of 2 waiters for our family of 4 so to say the service was over the top is an understatement. All in all this was a great experience in every way and worth the money.

If you are on Fremont Street - this is the place to eat!!

By Sergio1954 |

We have been to a lot of restaurants in Las Vegas and I have to say that Hugo's Cellar is the place to go for a great meal. It isn't inexpensive, but it is worth every penny. We had 4 people and were seated promptly at our reservation time. They will actually validate your parking if you part in the 4 Queens or Binions -- nice touch. The atmosphere is like an upscale cellar -- tables are not too close and the noise level is such that it is lively, but you can still carry on a nice conversation. The menu is extensive - with lots of good sounding appetizers, fish, steak, chicken -- lots of variety. Every meal comes with a salad and starch (potato, rice etc) and a dessert of chocolate covered strawberries, figs and apricots. The salad prepared at tableside is really a nice touch. You can have your choice of 3 dressings (caesar, a vinigrette ...and I don't remember the last one). Once the salad itself is mixed, the server asks you about 8 different choices for toppings. Tomato, red onion, parmesan cheese, hearts of palm and artichokes, eggs, baby shrimp, cranberries, pine nuts and I'm sure a few more that I forgot. It was delicious. My husband had the duck which he said was excellent. He had the horse radish and blue cheese au gratin potatoes, which he said didnt taste a lot like blue cheese. I had the petit surf and turf (filet and prawns). Done perfectly and the prawns were just right -- firm and not overdone. It came with fingerling potatoes (one of the side choices) and green and white asparagus -- very nice. Another in our group had the steak and crab legs. There were enough crab legs to feed everyone!! For dessert we had the cherries jubilee and the other couple had the bananas foster. Prepared tableside -- so much fun --- I haven't been to a place that does this in quite a while. They served the desserts on big goblets of ice cream. Delicious!! Overall our bill for drinks, dinner and dessert for 4 people was approximately $600+ (not including tip) I would absolutely make the drive down to Fremont Street again to eat here. If you haven't been -- GO -- you are missing something if you don't.

Mediocre

By Susan H |

Mediocre at best. My $99 beef Wellington was tasteless. The sides were fine but overall disappointing. Wait staff unattentive. Highlight was the sommelier and great wine list. Thank you!!

Amazing Dining Experience!

By Blue Crab |

Hugo's Cellar was recommended to me years ago by a local while I was in town on business, and it did not disappoint! We had a top-notch experience and the food was excellent! When you arrive, all ladies receive a rose as you are shown to your table. All the servers wear formal attire and introduce themselves. We had a sommelier, a bread server, table-side salad server, and a main server. They also provide you with a sorbet cone to cleanse your palate between courses. Our entrees came with a salad, the cheese lavosh, bread, and sides. I had the ribeye and my wife had the filet. Both were amazing and the presentation was great! Overall, the ambience, service, and food were 5 star! This is an old style classy Las Vegas restaurant that's been around for decades. It's definitely a must-try and highly rated for a reason!

Top 10 Dining Experience

If you were looking for a great dinner set an old school Las Vegas setting, Hugo seller is where you want to take someone that you truly care about. From the service to the excellent food everything was 100% perfect!

Lucky to find

By davidgagner |

Was out with some business partners and could not find somewhere to eat. Went to find one place and it had a crazy line. Read the menu and while more expensive and described as "Romantic" five guys still went. What a Rib eye. The Salad presentation is an Old School show and was excellent. Coming from DC and a lot od fine dining experiences i was bowled over on the service and food. Great for couples but not a single member of our party was dissappointed.

Somewhat disappointed in the food. The Service was great...

By Wallace E |

I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so this time. So, to start off, the atmosphere is very romantic but somewhat cramped. The service was excellent, and I had no complaints there at all. The price point is steep to say the least for the quality of food. My company had the King crab legs which looked beautiful upon receiving them but tasted a bit fishy for the top dish on the menu at ???$. I had the scallop (2)/shrimp(2)/salmon(4oz) dish which was good but not great, for $69 the portion was very small and the flavors were bland. My wife had the 10oz. New York Strip and it was tough, and lacked flavor for $57. The overall dining experience was good but we thought the food was mediocre especially for the price point.

Rude waiters

By Troy H |

I recently ate at this restaurant. Hearing the waiter say, “They ordered nothing but appetizers. What a waste of my time!” is not acceptable. We still spent $170 that night. I don’t expect to be insulted by staff, just because my girlfriend & I prefer a ton of appetizers over an entree. Unlikely to return. Enjoy 1 star review

Unfortunate bad experience

By nmljoel |

I have been to Hugo’s many times over the years. However, I’m not sure I’ll be going back any time soon. This time, the service and one of our two meals was very subpar. It felt like we were seated in a section that wasn’t being covered by any of the wait staff. No one even greeted us once we sat down. They eventually came and hastily took our food and drink order. My son ordered his filet medium and it came out rare in several spots. We were never asked how the food was nor if we wanted dessert when we were finished with our meals. No one even came to the table once our food was set down. We were merely handed the bill at the end of the meal. I noticed that our “waiters” spent lots of time at their other tables. Maybe it was just a fluke, but at their prices, flukes shouldn’t happen.

A great meal!!

By Sightsee476856 |

The service is wonderful. Each lady gets a rose and is made to feel so special. The salad cart is A+. It's located in the Four Queens on Fremont. You will love it!

Mastro prices for Sizzler Steaks

By Catrina C. |

I haven't written a review in awhile but I am simply astonished that anyone would pay these prices for this place. One of the best steakhouses I have been to in Vegas was in Circus Circus so I didn't let the 4 Queens Hotel location in downtown discourage me from going. Quality steak can be found in the strangest of places in LV. My husband and I had heard a lot of rave reviews about this place and wanted to finally give it a try. Was a mistake! The service is good. The ambience is okay but the dress code is not enforced. The décor is very old school vegas but in a way that feel very cheap instead of dated elegance. Now the food. I give 1 star for absolutely everything. The table side salad is a gimmick for those easily entertained. It was clearly bagged $1 lettuce with limited veggie options. They come to your table in what looks like a dresser fitted with a salad bar. Now the steak.......... i have had better steaks at Sizzlers. Seriously, the ribeye is more expensive than at Mastros and is nowhere close to the same quality and flavor. The atlantic style topping was lukewarm. The only thing edible was the mash potatoes but even those were very basic...something you would expect at a regular diner. I was so completely underwhelmed I sent my whole meal back. My husband finished his filet but said it was the worst steak he ever had as well. If you want the experience.....by all means. But if you want steak that's actually worth the $400 price tag for a table of two then go somewhere else.

Prime Rib

By cactus140 |

What a great meal. Starting off with a rose (for the ladies), then some wine, I ordered a bottle of red. Salad was wonderful. The bread basket was beautiful. My prime rib dinner was great. The little chocolate covered strawberries and fruit were amazing.

Highly recommend

By Teri W |

This was one of my favorites on our visit last year and moved to the top this year. Best place to eat in Vegas, in my opinion. Top notch customer service, cocktails are strong and tasty and the food is above average. I had the lobster and it was one of the best meals ever. The price of the meal comes with a salad and a small dessert, which is a rare treat. Highly recommned

Old School Vegas at its tastiest!

By Joanne |

Booked a table in late December to celebrate the birthdays of two friends who'd never experienced dining at Hugo's before. From the roses at door to the chocolate dipped strawberries, they were completely blown away! For me, the salad cart experience is always the highlight! It's wonderfully theatrical and always fresh and delicious. I ordered the filet mignon, which was perfectly cooked. Both friends were spoilt with chocolate birthday cakes too. Service is always perfect and this was, as ever, a wonderful dining experience. My only issue, and it's a strange one, is that when the bill was settled (by card) the tip wasn't debited. No idea why. Next time, I'll tip double!

Best steak I’ve ever had

I wish I could give this restaurant more than five stars. Pros - the table side salad (fantastic). The service (top notch), the petite surf and turf (outstanding), strawberry dessert (to die for).

Pretty good meal, just not outstanding.

The food was good, just not outstanding. I have had Australian lobster tail in the past and generally found it to be a better tasing lobster tail. This one was average at best. The steak was very good, again, just not outstanding. The service was very good and the bananas foster was really good.

Very cool traditional restaurant with a great atmosphere! Amazing food and brilliant service. Highly recommended.

Great Evening - Thank you

By Charles R |

A wonderful evening - nothing special - just an very nice diner with my wife. This restaurant is "old school" in the very best way. Perfect service - Full menu of options - Delicious food - and the rose. A special treat was the table-side salad - they will prepare it anyway you ask - lots of toppings to chose from - a very nice starter for the evening. It is really interesting to be in downtown L.V. with all the craziest on Fremont and/or in the casino - and then walk down the stairs to a totally new environment. Great space to truly enjoy friends, family or a special person. The prices are reasonable considering the quality of food and the care of the staff - it's not just a "special" occasion restaurant. We highly recommend Hugo's for anytime.

A... MAZING!!

Old school Vegas ambience. Ask for Michael! His service is exemplary and his years of experience there while treating you like you're the most important in the Room are well worth it! Take care of him, because he will take care of you! The table side salad is awesome as was the prime rib you could cut with a fork. They free pour cocktails and make them very well. With every trip to Vegas (6 a year) I try a different top shelf restaurant. Almost all of them impress me, but I don't go back because I want to try something different. This one I'll be returning to. They truly strive to give you an elegant, upscale w the bygone days of Las Vegas experience

Great birthday dinner overall

By Brandon K |

Friends of mine recommended coming here for an old school steakhouse experience and it was exactly that. We had a great time and great food. There were a few hiccups that kept thinks from being perfect, but it was a great experience. We sat down and had two of our party stuck in the traffic caused by the closing of the freeways. We hung out and enjoyed appetizers and wine and the staff was very friendly in dealing with the delays. We had excellent wine at very reasonable prices - utterly amazing prices, in fact. We shared a long bone-in ribeye medium. Others had the same, one had a filet and lobster tail special, another rack of lamb, and the last a beef Wellington. The tableside salad was very good. The one downfall of the evening came once we were ready to go. Staff seemed to have moved on to others and we were left scrambling to get the check to get to our show. I am not sure what changed as they were very interested in knowing our timeline up front. I would happily come back here again for dinner.

All the extras really mean so much!! Salad is the best I’ve ever eaten.

Food was good but the table side salad was the absolute best salad I’ve ever had in my life. The service was excellent and attentive by everyone in the restaurant. We were taken care of by multiple staff members throughout service. The little extras really mean so much. The long stemmed rose upon arrival is a great touch. The bread, table side salad, palate cleansing sorbet and the chocolate covered fruit as a dessert were wonderful additions to our meal. We will definitely be back.

Travel back to 1955 with better than 2021 service.

By travelfoodfun |

A timeless, old school classic. Downstairs at one of the Fremont Street Casinos, The Four Queens, which happens to be down the street from The Golden Gate Casino, original haunt of Sinatra, Martin, and Davis Jr. Before The Sands was built. The ladies receive a long stemmed red rose on arrival. The sommelier tastes your bottle selection before you do. Salads are prepared table side. Dinner was excellent and prepared to everyone’s needs. Dessert was spectacular. These restaurants are -so- hard to find in 2021 and I highly recommend.

Class act!

The restaurant is a quiet lovely setting, the staff are friendly and attentive our waiter was on his game for sure. My friend and I shared the Seafood Tower and the hot rock plate it was an amazing very tasty meal.

the heart of old Las Vegas does nothing for this

By MrLeeL |

They are in a sagging part of town, and they are not that good. The food is average not above average as they would have you believe. It is just ok.

Hugo’s Cellar -The best steakhouse in Vegas.

By bkrpp |

Great Old-Time steak house, lots of character and terrific food. Lobster bisque, Escargot, and their salad bar cart are a few reasons to make the trip. Better make a reservation because you won’t be able to walk in. Prime rib is great and the Filet you can cut with a butter knife. The wait staff are funny but very attentive, could be the best meal in Vegas.

Unchanging greatness

By skiNebraska |

This is about our 4th visit over 30 years and it is unchanged as far as superb service, food, and ambiance. Salads prepared to your liking at table side. Seafood, beef, you name it, it’s all great and of course, don’t forget the rose for the ladies

It was only OK. Service was OK, food was hit and missed.

By mjbcmjbc |

The food experience was a hit and missed. First, awesome lobster bisque and escargots. Crab cakes was a complete miss. The lamb was a miss for us as it lacks flavour. The beef Wellington, we had better over at Hell’s Kitchen. All in all it was simply average.

Stuck in the Past

I was taken to Hugo's Cellar for my birthday celebration; and was disappointed from the start. It is a nice gesture to give the ladies a long stem red rose; but the hostess had to search for one that was not already open or wilted. OK, I'll give them the fact that this was Sunday evening. After being seated we had to wait about 5 minutes before being asked for a drink; then another 10 or so before the server cam to take our order. The salad serving table side is definitely old school but nice. My host's prime rid was not as he ordered and had to be sent back. Again we had to look for the server then finally saw him holding up a wall across the room. My New York steak was fine; but nothing special, and I couldn't order a baked potato because they don't have any. Disappointing. We did get a special dessert for my birthday that I couldn't eat because we already had the cherries jubilee served table side; I was stuffed. The server did not seem happy to be there and showed it in his attention to our needs. Oh yes, we did get a sorbet to cleanse our palate; but was served in an ice cream cone (???) and as soon as it was served, our main course arrived. The ice cream cone melted, and no plate to put it on. Some of the service was old time and pleasant (rose, table side, sorbet) but lacked the presentation and service I expected.

Great traditional Vegas restaurant. No violin case required!

Recommended to us by a new vegas friend. Great find. Hidden below a casino in old Vegas. Waiters in white and black. Old school service.

I give Hugo’s a 10-Star rating

By Jeanne A |

Right up front I state that you will pay 5-Star prices for 10-Star service and meal quality. The servers are a team and they efficiently work together to give you the best dining experience possible. Everything is perfect. The classy touches are: a rose for each lady, a custom made salad for each person at their table, a generous bread basket, the chocolate covered fruit, heated hand towels at the end of the meal. The portions are huge! My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We can’t remember a better meal. Thank you for making our special day memorable.

Lovely 1st visit

By cazbgood |

We came here for a meal with my aunt and uncle. They have been many times previously. My hubby had duck & I had the salad as it was lovely. It was our wedding anniversary the next day so we got a surprise at the end. We would recommend to anyone

Worth the Trip Downtown!

By MasterP007 |

We had been told by friends and relatives that this was worth a trip downtown. They were right! Impeccable dining experience with fabulous service and food. We’ve been to Vegas a dozen times. We have probably eaten at 25+ restaurants here over the years. This ranks up with the best of them. Highly recommend! I don’t give out many “5 Star” ratings, but Hugo’s gets one.

EXCELLENT AS ALWAYS

By Mike M |

As usual, enjoyed an excellent meal with very attentive service. A bit pricey, but worth it. Table side salad selection has improved greatly.

Great birthday dinner

By captmorgnsgrl |

We came here to celebrate our son's 50th. Special birthday, special time, so we came to Hugo's. It is located in the Four Queen's Hotel and Casino. It is actually in a cellar. You take the winding staircase down to the the cellar. Right away the ambiance is of Old Las Vegas. We started off with stuff mushrooms, and crudete of cheeses and meats. We all chose the salad with our meal, so they bring around the salad cart and make your salad to order. I'd be lying if I didn't say that was a great salad. I would go back for just the salad alone. I had petite filet, my husband had the prime rib and my son had a rib eye. All were fantastic. The ambiance of Hugo's is what you would expect of a higher end steak house. We will be back here as we all live here in Las Vegas.

Best dining experience you can ask for!

By Stan S |

There are dozens of great restaurants in Las Vegas but we believe Hugo’s is absolutely the best. The place, the food, the service is all above all others. Can’t recommend Hugo’s more highly!!

32

By kathyhK9551WZ |

Yes I have been here 32 times. Why would I go back when there are 500 restaurants in Vegas? My friend turned 92 and she had never been to this restaurant. She was delighted with the unique atmosphere. Gene was our server with the man creating our salad, our table companion who met all of our needs. I always order the appetizer Hot Rock. You must order it to accompany your meal. Of course the dinner was divine along with the roses that were handed to us as we walked down the steps to the restaurant. The BEST.

Great experience

By Kevin S |

This place was first class! Diana at the reception and Reshard made an amazing salad and gave great advice what to order. He is a hidden gem and he made the night! I normally go to Barry's and Vic n Anthony's but Reshard makes me want to return!

A Fantastic Hidden Gem

By Randy R |

Hugo's Cellar in the basemen of the Four Queens Hotel and Casino is a classic throwback steak and seafood eatery reminiscent of classic Las Vegas. Exposed brick, dimmed lights, waiters in suits, linen table cloths, table side salad making, and a sommelier making the rounds gives this restaurant an ambiance rarely experienced in a city known for big named chefs, loud surroundings, and average food. Everything here was excellent, from the service to the food. Most dinners are a minimum 5-course affairs and are very reasonably priced for such an experience. Take your time and enjoy your food and company. Plan on 2 hours for dinner done correctly. An extra touch is all ladies receive a complimentary long stemmed rose and they will even wrap it up for you to keep it extra fresh. I can't recommend this restaurant enough and will be back on our next visit. Make reservations!

Best Steak in Vegas by Far!

By Ira |

Hugo's Cellar in the Four Queens Casino is a must go for us every time we're in Vegas. Steaks are their specialty but their other entrees are delicious, as well. They present every lady a free long-stemmed red rose upon entering, which delights most. Their bread is fresh, served with rose-shaped butter. Their mixed drinks are superb & reasonably-priced. Whatever entree you select, you will have a full meal for that price, as it comes with fresh salad, made directly for you from salad cart with huge variety of items to select. Prior to dinner, you'll get a small sorbet to wet your appetite for the ample entree, which includes choice of freshly-prepared veggies. Then, you'll see the desserts, which aren't included in the price, but delicious; if you're really stuffed from the meal, wait for the complimentary chocolate-covered strawberries, figs & dried apricots. Great dinner you'll love, remember & repeat when you visit Vegas each time. Ambiance is old-time Vegas (Sinatra) for this 45-year-old restaurant; several members of the staff being there between 35 & 45 years!

Excellent Service, Horrible food...

By Dean S |

First off, the staff and service was top notch, so this sour review excludes the staff... Hugo's was excellent the last time I was there about six years ago, BUT...this time, the food was horrible when I was there a few weeks ago. Both my friend and I ordered the 16 oz prime rib and we both agreed that it was the toughest, most tasteless piece of meat we've ever had. It was full of gristle, fat and was VERY hard to chew. The rice tasted like it was made in dirty fish tank water and the fingerling potatoes were tasteless as well. Even the diet coke tasted like the smell of industrial floor cleaner. Sadly, the only tasty part of the dinner was the salad cart...In hindsight, my friend and I both said that we should have gone to Tony Roma's across the street. Again...the staff and service were excellent. Basically, it was a hundred bucks for each of us thrown down the drain...Sorry guys.

Wow! What a meal. Come hungry!

By LSimone |

Wow! What a meal. Come hungry! You get a lot of food. Delicious food. The place looks like a vintage Vegas restaurant. But the food was the star of the show. From the salad to the desert - one of the best meals I’ve had. Staff is over the top incredible. You can tell their job is to make your experience special. It was fantastic.

BEST STEAKHOUSE IN VEGAS!!!

By CatMom |

My husband and I went to Hugo's Cellar for date night and we were blown away by the attention to detail at this restaurant! All ladies are given a long-stem red rose upon entering the restaurant, which made me feel so special. There are also staff members at every corner of the restaurant just waiting to be of service to you! One gentleman stands beside a bucket of chilled water the entire evening just waiting to come by and refill your glass. The attention we received made us feel like we were the only people in the restaurant. From a personalized salad made right in front of guests at the table, to cleansing our palate with sorbet between courses, this staff truly wanted us to have the best experience possible. I was blown away when my seafood arrived with lemon wrapped in cheese cloth and tied closed with decorative ribbons. He said the chefs take extra effort to present lemons this way because they didn't want me to worry about squeezing lemon seeds onto my shrimp! I cannot wait to go back for dinner again!

Great restaurant located in the Four Queens Hotel and Casino near Fremont street

By Gonnahavefun4eva |

From the salad made at your table, to the filet mignon and shrimp, plus the great service, this is a nice place to have dinner

Hidden gem!

By Reece |

Hidden gem! The food, selection and service were phenomenal. The food was cooked well, flavorful, large proportions and with the price. The martinis with blue cheese olives were made perfectly! We will definitely visit each time in Fremont St.
