The service was good. The food was average. The size of servings was good. The waiter offered me extra sweet sour sauce with our leftovers for take home. The chicken and snow peas dish was not flavorful. The whole dish was barely warm. Thankfully the rice was steamy hot. The sweet sour chicken was good, but the pineapple in the dish was bland, if that's even possible! Overall the food was average, price with 2 entrees with no drinks was over $21 plus the tip. The bathroom was clean, but the front door was dirty with lots smudges, which is not appealing. The food presentation at the table was fine. Overall acceptable but not special.

Hunan Ranch is one of my favorite restaurants in Austin, partly for convenience because it's very close to two relatives' homes, but mostly for the food and the service. We've been eating there for 4+ years. We are a fairly large group (7+) and we always have children. The folks at Hunan Ranch have always been extremely welcoming to us, commenting as the children grow and remembering our favorite dishes even. The restaurant is very clean and kid-friendly. (Polished cement floors which I so prefer with kids over carpet that you know is gross no matter how often the vacuum it.) There are chairs and booths and the tables pull out for larger people to sit in the booths. The menu features standard Chinese restaurant offerings - no surprises here - but everything is fresh and well made and generous. The servings are such that we regularly share an entree between two people and we leave full. If it's your first visit, keep this in mind. Some of our favorites are the Orange Beef, the Pan Fried Noodles and the Lo Mein but we have never had a bad dish here. The vegetables are always very fresh and perfectly prepared to retain flavor and slight crunch. The rice, both steamed and fried, is exactly as it should be. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Tea is constantly refilled, steamed rice replenished, dishes unobtrusively removed. Sometimes we linger when the conversation is lively and we have never felt pressure to leave (of course, our tip reflects that extra time.) The bathrooms are clean and neat, too. This is our go-to Chinese when the family gathers in Austin for all of the above reasons and they deliver!

Here's the deal -- although Hunan Ranch has fairly good food, their service is atrocious. Everyone has a bad day now and again, but the past few times I have been to Hunan I have sat for 3 to 5 minutes before even being acknowledged. No water. No menu. Nada, just a few harried servers trying to accommodate a large restaurant. It's unacceptable. They are too cheap to properly staff their facility, and it's chased me away for good.

We ordered the moo goo gai pan with Hunan sauce instead of white sauce..it was sooo good and fresh! My husband and I split one order and could barely finish it all! We will be back!

Since moving to ATX I haven't found a good Chinese place (yes, I'm picky). The crab rangoon was hot and fresh, crispy with great flavor. The sesame shrimp was my favorite. My hubby ordered sweet & sour chicken (not my favorite) but it wasn't greasy and the chicken perfectly cooked.

We have tried other Chinese restaurants in the area and find we keep coming back to Hunan Ranch. Love the crab rangoons and the Lettuce Wrap for Appetizers. The hot and sour soup is the best. We almost always order to be delivered. We have never waited more than 30 minutes and most of the time we get the food in 20 minutes. Always hot !

Came last minute after a football game. The customer service was awesome!! The food was great! Lots of food for the serving size. Will definitely come again!!

I can usually judge a chinese restaurant by their general tso's chicken, theirs is pretty good. I'd definitely go back.

My Togo order ended up in the trash. They are putting very hot food in styrofoam container and it is melting the styrofoam. That is not ok!!

Ordered the Mapo Tofu, $9.00 + tax, for takeout during lunch. It was nicely flavored, with just the right amount of spice. Problem was, the portion was miniscule. If you’re hungry, try some other entree. Average for the flavor, terrible for the portion size.

Everyone is super nice and its s go to for our family! 5 years and counting. They never disappoint. Great quality food and clean environment.

If there is one dish that everyone should try it is the Pan Fried Noodles. This entrée comes with beef, chicken, shrimp, snow peas, carrots, onion, mushrooms, baby cord, cauliflower, fried noodles and delicious sauce. All the ingredients maintain their texture and flavor so each mouthful of food provides you with a joyful melody for your palette. The noodles are soft and crispy adding a wonderful texture variety. The sauce brings everything together. The entrée is rather large so it is a good dish to share.

We love the food here, it takes a while to get your food because it is cooked from scratch. Well worth the wait. Today we had Hunan Beef and SesameChicken. Fresh vegetables not cooked to death and coatings not very thick. Perfect ! Love their red cherry sauce .

Staff is very polite and work quickly. I've come here a few times during my lunch, and they never fail for a speedy delivery. I believe they recently started serving sushi. Their cream cheese puffs are a little soggy, but their egg drop soup and hot and sour soup is great. I come here for their fried rice and combination lomein.

Good restaurant, friendly staff, quite atmosphere and very clean restaurant. Food was awesome and we were served quickly. Keep in mind that they serve a lot of food.

The pan fried noodles dish was huge. Enough for 2 people. Had lots of meat - chicken, beef and shrimp. Lots of veggies - cooked just right maintaining the crispness of the veggies. I liked the dish. Service was really good. The noodles are a must try.

Crisp and fresh, the food was really enjoyable. Pickup was fast and easy. A really affordable solution for anyone wanting Asian cuisine in the Lakeline / Cedar Park area.

Love this place!! Great prices and delicious!! We have it delivered to work frequently.

Again with a neighborhood restaurant of choice for us. Yes, it's close by (Ranch @ Brushy Creek area) but the food is always good. The menu for both lunch & dinner may be considered basic for some... But for us, the flavor profiles are on point. We love the spicy dumplings, steamed dumplings & basically everything else. Great for families, couples or those wanting a clean, tasty meal with a side of friendly charm.

Hunan Ranch is by far my favorite place for comfort food! We used to go to Lotus Garden (located down the road on Parmer Lane), and then we found out they also own Hunan Ranch. When Lotus Garden closed due to water damage, we made Hunan Ranch our new go to Asian solace! Very clean, intimate restaurant, with 10 or so booths and as many tables. They do deliveries and take out. We always get the spicy dumplings, you get eight pieces of perfection, with the most amazing sauce. It one of those that the whole time your saying, "It's to spicy, but I can't stop eating it!". We always save the sauce to put on our entrees. I get the Sesame Beef and my husband loves the Garlic Beef. So much food, guaranteed lunch at work the next day. All the waiters are very sweet and attentive there. Sometimes when the owner is there, she gives us a container of the spicy sauce, because she knows my husband loves it! Attention to details like that are very important. They make the difference between a one time sale and a customer. We are definitely customers. Enjoy!

We go to lunch here about twice a month. Like the Happy Family and Neptune’s Delight. We get them spicy and it is perfect. The combination includes an egg roll and soup and is an outstanding value. Highly recommend lunch and dinner is good too.

Food is delivered very quickly and is always hot and ready to eat. I love this place and the food is delicious.

Most Chinese food restaurants in Austin are just flat out bad. As in "mushy, re-heated, not-fresh, and possibly poisonous." Hunan Ranch, though, in Avery Ranch on Parmer Lane/Avery Ranch Blvd, far NW Austin is the exception. Lunch today was very good. The Sesame chicken was fresh, crispy on the outside, juicy dark meat on the inside, and the egg roll didn't taste like mushy paste smashed inside a crispy piece of cardboard. In fact, the food was delicious, obviously fresh, and the price was great for lunch - $12 including tax and tip with endless iced tea. Portions were generous but not outrageous, just right. Service was TOP-notch.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch (second time for us). We were served our appetizer very quickly, and our meal came not too long after that. The place is clean, and the waiters/waitresses we've had have been very attentive. My wife is the one who really likes Chinese food. I'd usually rather leave it than take it ... but, I actually have to admit I've liked it these two times we've visited. Don't tell my wife!

Visiting in-laws in Austin - went to Hunan Ranch Chinese for dinner. The food was great! This is an actual restaurant - not a buffet and the food was prepared fast, fresh and was delicious! Lina was our server and she was fantastic! I had the Moo Goo Gai Pan and it was probably the best I've ever had! My mother-in-law had Shrimp Lettuce Wraps - these were very good too! This restaurants is a favorite with my in-laws and definitely a stop next time I visit Austin!

This is the place for Chinese food in the east side of Cedar Park. The best part is that it is a real actual restaurant with food made to order-not a buffet! Yay! Good food, casual yet nice atmosphere good for a date or a family dinner ( if your kids aren't barbarians). I like it.

Great value and great Chinese food in a peaceful setting. Good wait staff: prompt, efficient, polite and smiling. The restaurant is well arranged for enjoying a meal privately in a public place, or at least that's how I felt. Maybe I was just absorbed in my sweet and sour chicken too much to be bothered by anyone else. At any rate, it was easy to have a relaxed and private conversation with my colleague. And the food was delicious. And I dig the big fish interested in us when were waiting by the front tank to be seated. I still like Pei Wei better, but I like this place a lot. (And it does seem to have a few more interesting choices than Pei Wei, but without going crazy on the menu like many Chinese restaurants).

This is our 'go to' place for Chinese in North Austin. Their food is always fast, fresh and delish. The kids love it too!

Brought one meal out in our group then we had to wait for the rest. We ordered to different dishes but both tasted the same except for a few veggies.

I went there with my wife after reading the reviews. We were looking for quality American Chinese fare. 2 of the dishes we ordered weren't edible. The spicy dumplings weren't even made of dumpling pastry, just pasta, and they were flavorless and undercooked. We ordered the fried noodles and the chicken was completely inedible. No matter how much I chewed, it wouldn't break apart. The vegetables were cooked well though. All of the food was seriously lacking in flavor. We ordered a number of dishes and left within 40 minutes and went to another restaurant after paying $70 and leaving most of it. The only thing that was average was the crab rangoon. Definitely the worst chinese food I have tasted in the last 15 years. We would never go back.

Food was great. I had the Orange Beef, my son and daughter each had chicken fried rice. It was delicious. My only complaint is that the parking lot is full but the restaurant is not. Maybe this is a popular park and ride sight. We will definitely go back to try more of the items on the menu.

Came here while visiting Austin. There is free parking 🅿️, no wait time and service was friendly and prompt. Wife enjoyed the hot and sour soup but the best was the chicken corn soup 🍲 it was so delicious. We shared a fried egg roll same as others restaurants. Wife had the sesame chicken and got it spicy which is was. The chicken was tender and the fish was delicious. I tried the Mongolian beef, meat was very tender strips with onions and bell peppers which were fresh and crisp and not overly cooked. It was spicy 🌶️ as I kept drinking water lol but addictive. The fried rice was tender and helped with neutralize my palate from the hotness lol. Definitely recommend

Great food in NW Austin... very nice place and a lot of food for the price. Staff is friendly and fast service.

Best Chinese around This area and Cedar Park, TX. Good lunch specials and lots of good quality food for the money. Very clean and calming atmosphere.

All the entrees I have had are very good. Sesame Chicken, Beef Broccoli and Orange Peel Chicken are good but the Firecracker Prawns are delicious. I order take-out about twice a month and one of my favorites is Pan Fried Noodles. The noodles have a slight char and the sauce is very good. The noodles come with shrimp chicken and beef. The vegetables include onion, carrots, mushrooms, Palm/bamboo and baby corn-on-the-cob. The few times I have dined in the service was good.

We've had carry-out here several times. Crab rangoon is always great here. Sweet N Sour Pork always a winner. Prices a little higher than average, but worth it. Will return often.

It's hard to find good chinese food in Austin. So far, Hunan Ranch hasn't let me down. The moo shu and happy family are yummy and the egg rolls aren't bad. They now serve sushi but I haven't been in for that yet.

Had lunch w/daughter-in-law. Total cost with tip was about $25 off the lunch menu. Had to ask for crispy wontons to go with hot & sour soup, which was very good. Ordered the Happy Family and got way too much food, so it was enough for 2 meals. Good service. Would recommend for a quick Chinese lunch getaway.

Best Chinese in the Area. Their pan fried noodles and orange peel chicken is fantastic. The firecracker prawns are great for folks who like a little kick, sweet and tangy.
I appreciate the ample portions of veggies in all the chicken & shrimp stir fry dishes.
We've ordered take out here several times. I've dined inside for lunch once. Comfortable large booths as well as tables inside. I almost always order the hot & sour soup. Their hot & sour soup is on the spicy side. Sometimes the hot & sour soup is spot on. This past weekend, it was waaaay too sour!!! Hunan shrimp was tasty - I really like the flavor of its sauce, cauliflower, and zuchinni in the stir fry. Their moo goo gai pan is loaded with veggies too - light & healthy tasting. With other Chinese restaurants, the veggies are cubed into small bite size pieces; here, veggies are regular-size. We got brown rice with our meals instead of steamed rice or fried rice. Brown rice was cooked well. Dinner entrees come with an spring roll & fortune cookie. Soup is extra if you want to add it to your order.
