A long standing icon of Broadway Street

By concanlover |

This establishment has been around for ages. It is pretty good food at a good price but the interest here is the history. It is also around a good area of Alamo Heights which is a upper scale area of old San Antonio. Parking here is a little difficult at times but worth the trip.

Getting older and showing it

By Frank A |

Hung Fong used to be the place to go to get great Chinese & great service...but the 80's are over. The longer they are open the worse it gets. Nothing special about the food, service lacks, dirty, VERY dated decor and really...could they cram more cheaper crap in there to sell? Don't waste your time...the only folks that will keep them alive are the construction workers.

New taste

By NK_Traveler1984 |

Area didn't have much Chinese so tried this. Place clean, service good, looked busy. The food tastes much different than the normal Chinese I regularly have. Maybe it's my fault as I am not much exposed to the authentic Chinese taste - as this place was busy, so maybe this is how the food tastes! Ordered soup, was thick as curry. Food tastes as it was just boiled and served, no flavors.

Just average

By Flamingojacque |

The food was OK. Service OK. Not the best. Not the worst. Just plain average. I wouldn't go back. But the price was cheap. $6.80 for a lunch with tea. They do charge extra for large to go cups?! The pic is of kung pao chicken.

Horrible

By Huge C |

Waitress was nice but food is terrible and expensive. This place is an insult to real Chinese food.

It's ok

By armydude_52 |

My wife and her family who are native SA'ers rave about this place and I have been here several times. I really don't see what the big deal is. The place is run down and smelly. The food and service are ok but nothing to write home about. I'm sure I'll be back, unfortunately.

Pretty good

By lacymo |

My husband liked it more than I did, I was more put off by the run down interior than he was. Food was pretty authentic. The history of the place is neat but they do need to do some updating.

San Antonio mainstay

By surelyacollectible |

We have gone to Hung Fong for at least 39 years. It was begun by immigrants from China and has a neon American/Chinese flag on the ceiling. Their food is good enough - and offers basic menus. there are a lot of tables in the restaurant, and they are usually full! It is loud and cluttered, but has lasted many years and should be on your list to check out for the experience and the inexpensive food.

Past its prime

By WJC50 |

I have visited this restaurant on and off over the past 40 years. Sadly, my most recent visit after a lengthy break, was very disappointing. This long-time San Antonio establishment is way past its prime. Wobbly, noisy carts rattle through the restaurant with dirty dishes adding to the already loud room. An unfriendly hostess leads you to a table. It is so old and shabby that it gives the impression of not being entirely clean. The sweet and sour soup was some strange yellow color, tasting like canned cream of chicken soup with some tofu pieces. The shrimp was fried in a pancake-like batter and oily. The only plus for this restaurant was the wait staff working as quickly and hard as possible.

Been around a long time

By Mercedes6623 |

We have been here many times over the years and it is always good. My husband loves the pepper steak. I have tried the cashew chicken and the sesame chicken. Both are very good. I like white rice myself and these dishes are great with either this or the fried rice. The hot and sour soup is just okay. I husband likes the egg drop soup. One important thing is that the lunch menu and its prices end at 2:30pm. After that, the restaurant is open but the supper menu and prices take over.

25 years we've been going here...never disappointed

By ascent2hell |

My husband and i have been going to Hung Fongs for 25 years...every time we are in San Antonio to visit family...and never have left disappointed !! The staff is attentive, the food delicious, and the prices don't leave us broke for the rest of the evening... This restaurant is not pretentious, but is child-friendly, and definitely a must-visit for anyone remembering the good old days of Chinese food...

Great food and wonderful staff.

By Nanette L |

This restaurant has been a fixture in San Antonio for many, many years. The food is great and affordable. The family that owns this restaurant is so welcoming. The dining room is very basic and nostalgic. Love their rangoons and egg drop soup, but the sesame chicken is my favorite!

Outstanding traditional Chinese food at reasonable price

By BLOODYMARY4MEPLEASE |

This is probably the oldest family owned Chinese restaurant is San Antonio. (I would classify it as the "Mi Tierra" of Chinese restaurants here locally). The menu is extensive and the food is always cooked to perfection The only draw back is this place is very old and the interior is worn down. The service is excellent. It you want truly authentic Chinese cuisine, this is the place to go. It is not a fancy or romantic place but everything they serve is excellent.

Stay away!!!!!

By Qeew |

This used to be a good place but now the building is dirty. The utensils, cups, plates are all dirty. Stay away or risk getting sick!!! Stay Away!!!!

Rubber chicken

By CarlaSueBabe |

I had not been here in years and now i remember why. The health scores are iffy. The food is mediocre. I got lemon chicken and the chicken was not chewable.

Get the pineapple shrimp!!

By The Cycling Foodie |

The Pineapple Shrimp is out of this world!! My gosh it was good! I ate so much I almost turned into a mermaid!! The Hot and Soup soup was the best I've ever had! I'll be back!!

Used to be a great place, now a great waste!

By R78 |

This was one of the favorite places to eat for my family for years. Sadly the old girl has seen far better days. The food has gone down hill, they now charge for hot tea (even though the menu still says its free), the service is - well horrible. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. 10 years ago yeah, now avoid it at all costs. The cost is astronomical for the lack of quality you get. Sad to see such a great place brought so low.

Really nice people and good food!

By L0calO |

We got there late and they were ready to close and still allowed us to dome in (we must have looked hungry!). The people were very nice, service was first rate and the food was excellent! I will make it a point to go there when I am in San antonio, Texas.

Very disappointed.

By Latinotraveler |

The food was not good. The service was not professional. Sorry, won't go back. The time I ordered it was to go.

sad experience

By betbrit |

Hadn't been to Hung Fong in quite some time, but was hungry for their food. What a disappointment. I don't know it they've changed owners, but the waitress was rude, couldn't understand a word she said and when asked to repeat, she acted put out. I ordered the sweet and sour combo (chicken, shrimp and pork) with fried rice. The chicken looked like they just took fried chicken strips and cut them into chunks leaving no breading (which, I know is actually much healthier), the poor was uneatable, there were pieces of I don't know what mixed in, and not enough fried rice to make a difference. I have been going to this restaurant for most of my life and won't be going back. The hostess sat in a booth next to us eating something that might have resembled a mango, taking the peeling off with her teeth and spitting it on the used plate from the previous diner. eww. pretty much lost my appetite watching that.

Another enjoyable meal.

By L0calO |

This is not a great place to eat but it is very good and you get your money's worth - along with good service. Large portions served by very friendly people.

Hit or Miss

By JRS0912 |

Some items over the years have improved with freshness (like some of the veggies) but the rice is still hard and dry.The tofu veggie delight was pretty good (a hit). The veggies were not overdone but the portion size was small. The plastic tea cups are original with broken chips on the surface and it seems to match the 1970's tables, nasty carpet and decor. My kids like the orange chicken (fried) with the greasy fried rice and french fries but there were no vegetables served on any of the children's plates (a total miss).

Good Food and a fair price

By xyz411 |

Went there with a friend for brunch on a Sunday and the place was packed. The food was good and the price was fair but the service was below average.

Great old fashioned Chinese

By bearecub |

If you are hungry for good .... no, great old fashioned Chinese food, then Hung Fong is the place to go. Established in 1939, this is an icon of sorts. It's not a fancy place, and is in an older building but the restaurant is clean, well maintained and holds a classic charm. It's so popular today to go and find 'fusion' food, but not at Hung Fong. They have stuck with the same recipes from their early days.....and thankfully so. The food brought back childhood memories and flavors. I started with a traditional fresh hand rolled egg roll - YUM! The crust was crispy and thin stuffed with fresh vegetables. Next I went for the shrimp toast - plenty for 2 people. Deep fried, but not soaking in grease, it was outstanding. My main dish was the Hong Kong style Chow Mein and this is really when my childhood memories of my favorite Chinese restaurant came to life. The chow mein was thin stir fried egg noodles topped with chicken, shrimp, roast pork and fresh vegetables. The flavors were incredible. My guest had Orange chicken which consisted of lightly battered chicken in a scrumptious sauce. The menu has a large selection of classic dishes, such as Sesame chicken, General Tso's chicken, lemon chicken, beef dishes like Mongolian beef, beef with garlic sauce, and more. They have numerous seafood dishes as well, fried rice dishes, noodle dishes and vegetarian selections. Their menu is extensive, with a large variety of combinations and group orders. I have a strong feeling that Hung Fong will become my go-to chinesecrestaurant for any occasion

Family tradition

By amyamyamy66 |

Used to come here as a kid when we lived in the area. I was pleased to see it's still around on my recent visit to San Antonio. Everything was delicious as always. The lemon chicken and wonton soup are my favorites and I can't find them anywhere with as much flavor as at Hung Fongs. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is because our server seemed to forget about us and we couldn't get refills, and after we were done we waited 15 minutes for our check. I'll still go back for the food, but I'll try to not be as thirsty.

Sweet staff!

By Firefly_101 |

I feel like the staff was more memorable than the food, but I still enjoyed myself. It's the oldest Chinese restaurant in San Antonio! There's an American flag on the ceiling with only 48 stars! And that's because when it was built, there were only 48 states, as the staff was sure to point out. I think we met the owner on the way out, and he gave me a free candy ring, which was a very sweet way to end the meal. I felt the food was average, but worth visiting at least once.

Great service, good food!

By Park3850 |

We both ordered the Family Reunion meal. We should have split one. The food was very tasty. There was so much food we both had two more meals from what was left. The service was great. Not overpowering but available if we wanted or needed something. The restaurant was older but clean and neatly kept.

Never had any Chinese like this

By Texmarc |

Ate here because it's been here since 1939. The place is clean and the service was good. My menu was only 2 pages of the multi-player menu online. Ordered an egg roll which was delicious, but the sweet and sour chicken and shrimp was not very good at all. The chicken was a whole fried chicken breast, sliced into she trips and had an unusual flavor. The sauce was served on the side, barely warm, and hardly sweet with no sour. I received a fortune cookie at the end of the meal which was good. High point was the meal was inexpensive. Maybe I should have ordered differently, but after PF Changs, this was a let down.

Kind of a time machine-good prices and food

By DoopO |

Nice older staff. Good value. Good food. Been around for years...staff pushes the cart to your table and you order dinners for two, three, etc. Get the Pu Pu Platter...it like something from a 1960's Kon Tiki thing. No it's not PF Changs...it's just a neat old part of San Antonio. No it's not a buffet.

Dog Food... Don't know how it stays open

By Kerry K |

I can remember when a meal like this could have been called food.. Terrible is not adequate to describe the shrimp and chicken ..

Poor food and service

By RatherNotSay |

Service poor, food mediocre. No lemon with water (which both of us requested), got order incorrect. Food room temperature off of Daily 2 special of chicken and beef. Hiring as of this publishing and I experienced why. Dingy establishment.

One of the Oldest Chinese Restaurants in San Antonio Showing its Age.

By Alan R |

3 stars is the correct rating for Hung Fong. This is one of the oldest Chinese restaurants in San Antonio. At one time it was a diamond and everyone went there and tourist would be sent there from Downtown hotels. That is not the case today. It has been sometime since I have been there. I decided to spend the night in San Antonio as a staycation weekend. Decided to go there for dinner. Not a memorable evening. We were joined by three friends, all locals. All agreed, this place had fond memories for us, but it isn't the Hung Fong from years past. Don't know if the restaurant original owners sold or what. Our Server was very friendly and tried very hard to do a good job. The dining room was very outdated, worn, and dingy. Didn't look very clean. Same with the restroom. The famous neon flags on the ceiling were not fully illuminated anymore. Food lacked taste. Mongolian Beef was not spicy hot as it should be. The Hot and Sour soup was not spicy hot and lacked flavor. I had the Hung Fong shrimp. The shrimp did not taste fresh and seemed more like frozen breaded shrimp was used. The Hung Fong sauce for the shrimp was so spicy, you couldn't really taste anything else. The sauce came in a little plastic condiment cup with lid and was not even warm. We came on a Thursday and there were probably only 6 tables during dinner. I think the locals have figured out it isn't that good anymore and hotels do not send tourist. With such a small dinner crowd, it makes sense they would likely use frozen breaded shrimp. I will not return to Hung Fong. It is past its prime and it is depressing to see such a well known local establishment fade away from quality and taste. One good point was they did serve a lot of food. Unfortunately, I tossed my left overs, as after I returned to my room (I had a suite with a kitchenet) I decided, I didn't care for it when I ate it, why would I heat it up later?

Great "go to" place for Chinese food!

By Sandy H |

I've eaten here several times over the least few months. Most of their dishes are great; however, there's a little too much fried food.

Tasteless

By nancy t |

This was the only restaurant close to the house late at night that was open, so we decided to give it a try. 3 of us had the most tasteless, almost inedible food, and that was trying different items. Service was Ok. I will not be back no matter how convenient.

True story - my ex and I...

By Julia S |

True story - my ex and I went there and he was served raw pork. When I complained, the hostess said - "where is it?" and poked in my dates dish with his fork. I told her, truthfully, that he was retching it up in the restroom. Health Inspectors ahoy, this is the restaurant for you.

Really decent quality food

By Bruce B |

We were a table of six persons and received very pleasant and hospitable service immediately. Best tasting egg rolls made in-house, wonton soup was very tasty but nothing to write home about so I would recommend a different soup next visit. My entree was "crispy shrimp w/ cilantro chili sauce (hot and spicy) excellent !!!!!! Other entrees were equally enjoyed varying with beef schezuan, chicken Kung pao, and egg foo young. $112 total including tax. Beverages included were chilled iced tea. No alcohol this visit.

Early lunch ..

By Manuel R |

It's always a great time here... Foods always consistent great lunch specials and you have to try the best and only there hot oil you can't get it anywhere in Texas.. it's nothing like you ever had..not to mention the friend rice...ask for min she's the best and most loved waitress there.. let her know I (manuel) sent you ..

Wonderful retro Chinese

By PChang |

The oldest Chinese restaurant in San Antonio (1939) is a wonderful place for crab Rangoon, lemon chicken and fried rice (what we ate, along with wonton soup) And fortune cookies! And a New Year calendar. Check out the American flag with 48 stars.

The Best Lo Mein I've had in San Antonio

By cdouglas504 |

I live very close to this restaurant on Broadway. I pass by it atleast twice a week and it is always packed. I ordered some take out, after working a Spurs. I ordered, combination fried rice combination Lo Mein, and Sweet and Sour chicken. The food was great. The LoMein has so much flavor. They gave me a great portion, and the Sweet and Sour chicken was fried lighltly and had a great taste. The price wasn't bad either.

Hung Fong experience

By NatOnVacation |

We there for lunch. The cuisine pretty much caters to the American palette, it does however seem to have a good following. Most of the lunch diners that day seem to be return customers, the servers seem to know them by either name or face. The server we had was genuinely concerned that my wife and I had a great experience. Hope this helps.

Found a pubic hair in my food!!

By LWyss |

When I first walked into the restaurant, the carpet looked old, nasty and dirty but then I noticed the restaurant was full so I figured the food must be good. The chicken fried rice I ordered was tasty but I discovered a black pubic hair in it which completely turned me off! Also, the staff at the cash registers were not friendly at all! Don't think I'll be eating there anytime soon!

Date Night!

By Kelsey L |

My wife really wanted Chinese cuisine and suggested that we try this place. She used to eat here with her family as a teenager. I'm glad she suggested it. The service was great! The environment was fun, with lots of decor. The was pretty good too!

Very friendly service

By redhousecat |

The guy who runs this place is very friendly and will nearly talk your ear off. He is proud of the business and brags about how long it has been in business. On the food side, though, all I can say is that is mediocre. It is very hot and fresh when it comes out, but just tastes so dull. The spicy hot dish we got was not spicy at all. I just can't describe what it might be lacking. It is your typical Taiwanese style "chinese" restaurant, so the menu will be familar. I think they need to amp up their dishes in order to compete. The prices are very reasonable though, especially if you order the meals for two.

Excellent choice for Chinese cuisine

By ladygo17 |

Whenever I am back in San Antonio, I make it a point to stop off at Hung Fong's for their excellent fare: the crab rangoon are crispy and chock full of filling, lemon chicken, which is truly superb, and easily the tastiest fried rice I have ever had. They are located on Broadway, just north of downtown. Stop in for the best Chinese around!

Friendly staff and delicious food

By tiffers2184 |

We had orange chicken, sweet and sout chicken, General Tso's chicken and sesame chicken. All were delicious and would definitely go again.

Quick dinner

By David J |

Decided to try Hung Fong for a quick lunch. The service was excellent and food delicious. Place is a bit run down but just adds to its charm. I had sesame chicken, excellent. DW had shrimp and broccoli something, also excellent. Prices were very reasonable.

First Visit; Very Happy with Restaurant and Meal

By daxkitten |

We live in San Antonio and are exploring the restaurants along Broadway. Tonight we ate at Hung Fong. As soon as we were seated our waitress took our drink orders, then gave us time to study the menu. I chose Hawaiian Chicken and Egg Drop Soup, plus a pot of hot tea (which I believe was jasmine). My husband had a combo with Lemon Chicken and Chicken Chow Mein with hot and sour soup. Both of us enjoyed our meals. I was especially thrilled with my Hawaiian Chicken, lightly breaded and fried, which had a coconut milk sauce, pineapple and cut-up Maraschino cherries. There was a lovely spiciness that paired well with the tea. We were also served wontons filled with a cream cheese mixture. It was quite good. My egg drop soup was some of the best I've ever had with small pieces of water chestnuts and mushrooms. The history of Hung Fong is very interesting. It was built in 1939. Decor inside is quite unique. On the dining room ceiling are two neon flags: one Chinese, one American (with 48 stars). The owner wanted to commemorate the United States helping China fight Japan in World War II. Also, there are framed pieces of art on the walls that are 40 years old or more. The art is made from butterfly wings.

Traditional Chinese Food and Service Best Orange Sauce Ever

By WHDSM |

Form your own opinion, but I disagree with the other reviews about this place. My wife and I enjoyed it very much for a lunch dinner and had plenty of to-go boxes with the portions for the two of us. House Specials we ordered were the Orange Chicken, General Chicken, Seafood Combo with steamed rice. Having been to China this is close to the real thing, minus the bugs and americanization. The chicken was thinly breaded and flash fried it seemed to a crispy shell and her Seafood Combo she loved perfect amount of veggies and fish on a hot plate that sizzles! We shared a coke and (a smile...lol) walked out happy and full. Our waitress was pleasant also as we reminisced about Beijing, no I am not Chinese nor is my wife. I would recommend the place for traditional style Chinese and do not let the appearance fool you as the looks are deceiving. Highly recommend giving it a shot. If this review helped, give a thumbs up! RetiredArmyRANGER

Was not expecting AUTHENTIC chinese food or anything top notch, but this was worse than old canned or freezer burned micro waved food. I wrote a detailed review on Google.

Lunch

By nora r |

My granddaughter loves this restaurant when she visits. One of the oldest Chinese restaurants in San Antonio. Very authentic feel. The food is very good ! Very good lunch specials. Very friendly service. I remember my parents going to Hung Fongs with friends when I was a child. A family tradition.

BEST Chinese food in San Antonio

By selinaB48 |

Hi all. I'm 60. I've been coming here longer than that, lol. Read quite a few bad reviews, IGNORE them. Everyone there knows me & my children, & their friends, & some relatives...This place is Authentic. No pretend yellow rice, just real fried rice. Every dish is good in its own way. I've never had anything bad here. We have literally had everything on the Menu. We walk in, get hugs, & pretty much all the servers know what we want. We really don't use the menus. Lol. Drinks & Crab Rangoons come straight to our table. After a great meal, we always buy stuff, like a bracelet, a Bamboo plant, Wind Chimes, even Two sets of SWORDS for my son as gifts, Lol. This family owned restaurant opened in 1939. So is it old, sure. But this has NOTHING to do with the quality of their food or service. The owner is funny as heck, just don't ask him for the recipe for their HOT OIL. This alone, is worth the trip. He won't even share it with his family, who have other competition Chinese restaurants. Can't say I blame him. Gold is Gold. This Chinese restaurant is so GOOOOOOD. Come try it, you'll leave happy. Brightest Blessings.

A San Antonio Tradition

By Donald H |

This is one of the real treats if you are a fan of Chinese cuisine. We tend to go every few weeks. There is nothing particularly memorable with the decor, but the food certainly overrides any of that. We tend to try several items and share. The soups are a great way to start. We will munch on fried wontons with our soup. The special combinations are plenty for most appetites, but again part of the fun is sharing. This restaurant has been around for decades for a reason.

Not bad eats

By Mike PK |

I am always looking to experience all that San Antonio has to offer and I was told about this place. Old school building with 1970s decor--just my kind of place. The food/lunch menu was good and and the price was right. The food was too much for lunch and it did not disappoint. Give it a try and step back in time.

Great for teens and adults

By Jennifer M |

Went here during lunchtime with two teens and another adult. I was worried because I had not been there in years, and the last time was a dinner with wine lovers. However, in the end, I was very pleased with the lunch, as were my dining companions. We ordered off the regular menu as opposed to the "lunch special" menu as we wanted more options. I felt the lunch special menu was too limited considering the range of dietary interests. We ordered Pad Thai with combination meat, Singapore Noodles with Yellow Curry and chicken, Eggplant with Black Bean Sauce, and Dumplings as an appetizer. We were very pleased with the recommendations of the waitress as she helped guide us through the numerous noodle dishes and she recommended the dumplings. The dumplings were excellent. Very well prepared with a nice sauce. I have had so many poorly executed dumplings that I was very happy to get them prepared as they should be done. Most happy that they were not overloaded with cabbage, but rather, filled with pork and vegetables. The Singapore Noodle dish was also well prepared with a good deal of heat. Not as much sauce as I am used to, but very good nonetheless. The Pad Thai was also excellent - noodles were fresh and did not stick together, had substantial amounts of the various meats and large shrimp. Again, it was refreshing to get a well prepared pad Thai as so many locally are poorly made because it is a hot lunch special and is made in large quantities that affect the quality. Not here however. The eggplant with black bean sauce was also wonderful. The two adults enjoyed the vegetarian dish, while the teens did not see the reason behind not having meat. The eggplant dish was colorful, filled with many other vegetables, and the sauce was tasty. The vegetables were so expertly cut up so that all retained some crispness and we're still easy to eat. Our entire party enjoyed the lunch and had leftovers for later. I was so happy with the food, the waitstaff, and the fact that Hung Fong was still one of the best Asian food restaurants in San Antonio. I cannot wait to go back for dinner and enjoy great Asian food and wine from their large wine selection.

Zero service

By philzysmith |

Ordered some food, nothing too challenging. Chicken fried rice, kung po chicken and rice. Waiting for 25 mins before girl behind till asks me if I;m waiting for food. Told her what I ordered, and I could hear her frantic ramblings about 'they've been here for ages' and got some rushed food. I've been coming here for years and never had such rubbish service. Also. when I got the food home it was all undercooked. Great when you've got you children.Avoid.BIG TIME!

Service was good at first, then everything went downhill quickly.

By ontariow |

I went here craving Chinese food, and I was sorely disappointed. My server was nice, I ordered then the food came. The fried rice was awful, and the orange sauce on the orange chicken tasted terrible. It was too sweet, and had no flavors other than orange. I would not be surprised if it were only orange kool-aid, sugar, and fat. There was no subtlety in this meal. When I told my server about this she became very rude, and even tried to bully me (very unprofessional) I will not be visiting this establishment again.

stumbled on this gem

By Gary B Gomez |

I've traveled to San Antonio many times and always go for Mexican. I was running out of gas and stumbled on the "oldest" Chinese restaurant in the city? Who cares, it was great. I had a seafood combo on a sizzler platter. It said lobster and it actually had lobster plus shrimp and scallops. Wonderful. With an ice cold mug for my Tsing Tao, excellent restaurant.

Horrible

By Stephanie R |

I use to be able to tolerate their food but the last time I ate there was enough for me, indefinitely. Their food is not good at all. Stale tasting rice and not so good flavor of anything. I don't recommend this place at all. If i could, I would give no star rating

Go down the street instead

By GAlexD |

This historic restaurant used to be good but has gone down hill over the years. Crappy food, bad service. Go to the nice restaurant down the street instead. Can't remember the name but anything is better than Hung Fong.

Family dinner friday

By DDUB4U |

Went here for seafood during lent. Had all kinds of shrimp dishes and a seafood supreme dish. All were fantastic. My wife and I got a family meal that even included hot tea, soup, egg roll, we subbed crab rangoon, and two different dishes. Service was great. We never ran out of drink refills before they were topped off. Will definitely go back!

Egg Foo Yum!!

This is the oldest Chinese restaurant in San Antonio and is still owned by the same family. The food is delicious and the service is great! Very generous portions and reasonable prices--what's not to like?

I absolutely adore this place!

By neuroshrink |

Authentic, old school, Chinese American resturaunt circa 1939! The oldest one in San Antonio. Wow, what a find. Put aside that I fed five people for less than a single person at the overpriced 20nine I also reviewed today. The food is good! The menu is classic! Its is a time machine that probably looked the same when Humphrey Bogart at there. I had a great time. My friends who lived in China for a year recommended it as you can get pretty much anything there you can get in China, and you can order off menu if you want... we just had everything served family style and it was wonderful.

Great food and service

By MLyndaO |

This restaurant right across from the Witte is a must-stop when near downtown San Antonio. The food is intensely flavored and not sticky sweet like so much Chinese food these days. Service is quick and the food is cooked to order.

You have to do this one just for the experience. Oldest Chinese restaurant in S.A. Check out the neon flags on the ceiling !

Great food, and plenty of it. Three of us jumped in the plane in McAllen, TX, and flew an hour and a half to San Antonio for lunch. We weren't disappointed.
