Bad service

By Marvin F |

Nice breakfast

By orlytModi_in |

Nice stop for breakfast with many options. Big portions. Friendly service. Clean surroundings. Great pancakes with different kinds of syrup. Refill coffee all the time. Nice.

Breakfast before departure

By WJLWR |

Quick stop just a block from the water. Staff works hard. Food is good. A bit pricey however, with roughly $12 for the basic traditional breakfast.

All around poor performance

By tonyl552 |

We were seated in just about 10 minutes, despite the place being less than half full. Our server, Miguel, walked by our table several times without even looking before stopping..we didn't even think he was our server. We ordered and it took about 15 minutes to get our food, again with not even a half-full place. The food matched the service. The "steak" on the omelet tasted old and reheated; the hash browns were mushy; the "fresh" fruit was bland; the veggie omelet was also bland; the only thing they did right was the crepes and avocados. Miguel was very forgetful that we were his table; partially, I think, because there was a table of girls that he kept gravitating towards. I even had to go ask for my check after waiting patiently for about 10 minutes, with finished plates and empty (again) water cups on the table. They need a lot better service and food, especially for the prices they charge.

Breakfast wit hfriend

By ElaineVB66 |

IHOP is expensive for what you get. The waitress was great, but the food was mediocre. It is similar to Dennys but more expensive.

Service and food great

By Karylyn Bliss |

The staff at IHOP are extremely friendly and prompt. The food is hot when served and yummy. Great family atmosphere and food lives up to a chain restaurant meal. Highly recommmend stopping in, and prices are great. Very clean restaurant.

First class food and environment.

By Gillam203 |

Spot-on diner. Food well presented, helpful staff. We stayed in the Zephyr Hotel, next door. Very handy just walking round the corner for breakfast. Wide choice on the menu, prices are very fair. Eggs over medium were perfect.

Disappointing

By MissKirstsTravels |

We were excited to experience this place as it came recommended from our tour guide. Service wasn’t great. Took a while to be seated as it appeared the girl had forgotten us. Servings were large but food very plain & large portions but just felt like fast food. Pancakes dry & not nice. Would not return.

Fantastic place with family

By FMS42 |

Great place: clean, large, and child friendly. All the amazing (nearly vegetable-free) food you’d want: pancakes, omelettes, French toast and the like.

Best crepes and great service

By Karylyn Bliss |

The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. They are quick in serving hot food. The crepes are phenomenal and the coffee is freshly made. The lines get long for this eatery but go fast due to the impeccable service. Definitely a great breakfast location near Pier 39 and all the hotels in the vicinity.

Optimal

By Sabrina&Sandro |

Excellent, truly excellent fresh products made on site, friendly staff and above all they have a wide variety of products, it is always full but many take the food away. Sure it's not cheap but it's worth it once

Good breakfast and clean

By Diamonddog |

We were staying at The Sheraton, across the road from the iHop and used it for breakfast. The dining area is clean and well kept with friendly, happy, efficient staff. There is a good breakfast menu selection and all meals were plentiful, well cooked and tasty.; my favourite being the steak tips combo 😃 Will definitely use again in our next visit.

Great value breakfast

By MrsH104 |

Given that our holiday was three weeks long and we found portion sizes in the USA on the large side, we gave up on three meals a day and instead swapped to having brunch at about 10.30am then dinner around 6.30pm. IHOP was near our hotel and was busy - always a good sign. There were lots of combinations of omelettes, pancakes, eggs, bacon etc. I opted for the modest two eggs and bacon, which came with homemade hash brown and toast. The eggs were cooked just as I wanted; coffee refills were part of the deal and the service was very friendly. If you’re after an honest, no-frills, freshly-cooked breakfast then this fits the bill.

Yum

By Cameron S |

Breakfast was better than expected, service was very good and the staff were extremely friendly to us both

Excellent breakfast at a slightly high price

By Ana N |

Excellent breakfast, great pancakes but the waffles were even more incredible!! Delicious milk shake too! The price is a little high.

Good place. Will come back.

By Firdaus D |

Fine dining for me as an asian travellers. Usually go for vegetarian menu on travel trip, and everything can be made vegetarian.juat remarks to the waiter to exclude the meat. And one spicy omelette menu, it is spicy even for my malaysian taste buds.

Great Spot for Breakfast

By Greg C |

We ate here for breakfast during our trip to San Francisco. The food was good and reasonably priced (much better than our hotel). The location was clean and the staff was pleasant.

Good way to start the day

By Leslie H |

Quick bite every morning for breakfast. Typical IHOP fare... The food was fresh and well cooked. Minimal wait during the morning rush. Good service. Reasonable prices.

Cheaper food than a hotel but service poor

By Koala-Linz |

Never been to and IHOP before. The food quality is fine (if you like mostly fattening/high cholesterol food) but the service is terrible and we were the only customers in the restaurant!. After being escorted to a table (thank you!) we waited for ages for table service and eventually went to the counter only to be abruptly told "to go back to your table!" (Say what??). It would be fair to say however that the price for breakfast, lunch and dinner is much cheaper than the Sheraton Hotel or any other nearby hotel (e.g., Hyatt, etc) and IHOP is open till late but recommend to plan ahead and eat at the actual Fisherman's Wharf.

GREAT staff!

By Steph L |

We ate at IHOP twice during our 3 night stay in the Bay. Both times the food and staff were excellent. The 2nd visit, the manager went above and beyond to serve our large group earlier than his wait staff had arrived. Very impressed!

Brilliant

By Beverley B |

First time in an IHOP for breakfast, can’t believe what I’ve been missing! Excellent, efficient service so much choice and great value for money. Plus you can get takeaway 👍. I had eggs benedict which was delicious, my family all had pancakes which were so light and tasty. Great I will definitely go back.

Don’t waste your time.

By Whyross |

Went there for a late dinner, needless to say was not impressed at all. The fruit salad they served us had freezer burnt fruit so we had to return it. The waitress that served us did not come back to the table once after giving us our meals. We needed to call her over to tell her about the fruit salad. Also no refills on our coffee or tea! The only saving grace was the quesadilla we ordered was quite tasty.

Hit and miss

By Alan J |

We visited for breakfast three times during our week stay in SF. As with every eatery in the area the prices are high but this is a little bit more palatable than most which hovered around the $80-$100 for a breakfast for three. Food was good and generally well served but on one of our visits the coffee and food were both stone cold. How IHOP could serve such cold coffee is a mystery and although replaced really spoilt our breakfast. If trying to find this location be aware that it is not well advertised outside and could easily be missed.

Lot of choice to eat.

By 007John007828 |

Took 10 minutes to read menu , a lot pancakes choices. Got a omelette so large didn’t eat for 6 hours afterwards, how do they make money. Staff were great, can get busy especially Sundays . Only thing have to hungry , or you can choose small meal , had a dinner as well . Had fish really nice .... great food for great price. Thanks.

Pretty highly priced for an IHOP

By Philip S |

We needed a quick breakfast and didn't want to pay the super-high hotel prices so we popped in IHOP for breakfast. Good food, excellent service, but kinda pricey,

Fab breakfast

By Ian D |

I love a big breakfast to set me up for a day’s sightseeing and IHOP didn’t disappoint. I had two eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast and pancakes and a refillable coffee. Everything was tasty and reasonably priced. I’ll definitely be coming back to IHOP again.

Breakfast

By Matthew S |

Great place tucked round the street from the piers , ideal option for breakfast good food choice and quality and reasonably price

Oh sweet lord

By AmandaBid |

We arrived in San Fran yesterday so due to jet lag we were up before the birds and were very hungry , we went to i hop just across from the Sheraton fisherman’s wharf and we both had a split decision , eggs tour way , bacon sausage french toast and some of the best pancakes ever , service was very good and food was lovely , $35 for two breakfast that will see us through to dinner , with coffee and a soft drink will definitely visit again as so full of flavour

Easy and quick

By MarcDeB |

Quality is ok, service depends on the server. A bit inconsistent but next to our hotel so very conveniant. They do delivery.

Huge place, very busy

By Mark&Nic |

This was the first place we ate in San Francisco and it was very average. Four of us sat down, it cost about $100 and I can't really remember what we ate! We did come out full, so mission accomplished, but the whole thing was just bland. Bland food, bland environment and bland service. First and probably last visit to an iHop.

Brilliant

By spongesdad |

A typical American diner. Very reasonable priced and huge portions for breakfast. Pancakes are incredible

Good for breakfast

By Michelle T |

A good spot to stop for breakfast or lunch, reasonable prices and service. It is popular and you may have to wait for a table, but the children loved all the options on the menu.

Pancake Heaven!

By Viv K |

Amazing service, friendly staff and lots of food!! You won't leave hungry! Our first experience of American pancakes and whaffles and we were certainly not disappointed - amazing! Huge stacks of pancakes with different flavoured toppings on the table. Flask of coffee, kids juice refills, eggs, bacon and then either pancakes, whaffles or tortillas! This IHOP is on the corner of the block where our hotel (Zephyr) is located, so great location for us.

" Nice restaurant for all three meals "

By Grant Gullicksen |

I have known one of the waiters here now for over 30 years .I met him at a former Restaurant that he used to work at plus he once worked at a different Ihop restaurant that's been closed down . Their wait staff here is very efficient and okay for me that expects alot from my wait staff at any restaurant .Their old fashioned cheese blitzes are my favorite with strawberries and whip cream on top . I will only complain a wee bit only about their prices here .Other than that this is a good place to bring your families too also .like children and older seniors too .

Tacky American but big portions and open late

By wellycaro |

We wouldn’t have gone here by choice but it was open late and kind of had what we needed. We wouldn’t go back unless we were really hungry or reasonably desperate.

Yummy ihop pancakes

By Dani W |

We were sat efficiently after a 5 min wait and our food was yummy. You cant go wrong with an IHOP. Pricey compared to what it used to be but worth it.

Great breakfast

By Mert67 |

Great eggs sausage bacon and pancakes. Service a little bit disjointed as we waited an extra 5 minutes for our toast surprisingly.

good place for breakfast.

By Kathryn K |

This IHOP was just around the corner from our hotel.Lots of variety on the menu and it was open 24 hours. We ate there 3 mornings and still had lots of choices. Probably inexpensive meal for San Francisco.

Excellent!

By Susan L |

IHOP corner of Powell Street San Francisco. We were advised by family to try the IHOP for breakfast and it was so good we had breakfast there every morning of our holiday! Excellent food, great service and excellent staff. We have to mention Roy, Michel and Sonia who went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect! Would totally recommend this restaurant!

Great food and service

By COZYMELMIKE |

we ate breakfast early and everything was very good. i even asked for well done bacon and they delivered. I would eat here again.

Good breakfast food

By Leacah |

Pancakes and omelettes/eggs were very good.... sorry but the fried chicken was a bit dried out Big serves Great pricing Friendly service Our group were very happy

We were staying close and noticed that this place was busy! We had breakfast there and it was good! Good flavour, plenty of quality...

I've never had such hostile service!

By Victoria M |

IHOP is one of my go to restaurants because I love Swedish pancakes. So when I saw one on the corner near my hotel it was a no brainer. Unfortunately, the service of one individual was so rude I would never go back to this location. I'm not sure, but I believe he was the assistant manager. His shirt was a different color than the others and he was the only one with that color. I spoke to the manager about him, so I know he wasn't the manager. It started off in the morning, when I went in for coffees to go. I stood at the counter and waited and waited. He was walking around taking orders and busing tables. The only reason he came to the front counter was a couple was checking out. Since I was before them, he asked me what I wanted and I order the coffees. He then checked out the customer. I assumed he would go and get my coffee at that point, but no, he went right back to waiting on tables! After another couple of minutes a server came up to me and asked if he could help. I replied that I thought I had ordered coffee, but he wasn't getting it. I was promptly served my coffee. We returned later for breakfast and my 80 year old mother accidentally knocked over the water glass on the table. The same man from the morning walked over with a handful of napkins and tossed them on the table and walked away. He never returned! He went on to serve and bus other tables, but would not come back to us. I could only assume he expected us to clean up the water. The waitress that brought coffee over almost fell on the floor after slipping in the water. Now, I wiped up what was on the table, but I was certainly not getting on the floor to wipe it up with napkins. I finally flagged down the same nice server who had helped me in the morning, Miguel. I told him what happened and how we were being completely ignored. He proceeded to give us great service and as usual my Swedish pancakes were awesome. The manager was at the counter when we checked out and I explained all that had happened. I have never seen anyone so rude in the service industry. I told the manager, "Maybe I look like his ex-wife"!

Salty Pancakes!

By Pia Azucena |

I was feeling peckish when I asked my friend that I fancied a Pancake once more. I told her I would like to try every pancake house in America. So she took me to ihop for the very first time. I ordered a classic buttermilk pancake ... as i prefer simple pancake with just whipped butter and syrup.... I only ordered a short stack and I couldn't finish it because it was very very salty. I was disappointed and did not go back again. In England it's not allowed to have so much added salt in the food.... I guess I can taste a tiniest added salt where ever I go. But to be honest the ihop pancake was very very salty to my liking. :( I went to see the waitress about how salty the pancake was and it was like eating a block of salt instead of a pancake. She just looked at me and she said thats how they do it. I went out of the restaurant unhappy, unsatisfied and felt I wasted my money for something I was not able to eat.

Great Pancake House

By Connie B |

First time in America, came here with the family for breakfast. Amazing for breakfast! Great portion sizes as always and so delicious :) Prices were reasonable for the dishes and lots of choices on the menu. The restaurant has a variety of syrups too you can add to the pancakes Great experience, definitely would go back if we visit America again

Good breakfast

By Siobhain Doyle |

The staff here are pretty friendly and the service is good. They have all types of pancakes and waffles, mainly carbohydrates, which was delicious! The food is not too expensive and my kids loved it here. I would recommend this for breakfast however we came here for dinner a couple of times.

Authentic American breakfast

By danjgg |

Perfect location to have our first breakfast of the holiday. Massive selection and all the food ordered was lovely. A must visit for a typical American experience.

I love IHOP!!!

By 1clubber |

Located near Fisherman's Wharf, we chose to get up early, take the famous cable car and have a hearty breakfast in preparation for the long day of visiting that awaited us. The IHop restaurant turned out to be a quality spot and we adopted the address in the different stopover cities where we passed and where it was present (Las Vegas...). Friendly and dynamic service, sweet or savory dishes (French toast, pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausages...) which arrive quite quickly, coffee refills like orange juice. In short, full stomachs and energy to spend at affordable prices.

Worst ihop i have ever had

By steven1105 |

From moment i sat down and placed the order i could tell waitress was not interested. Maybe when some waitresses hear the Uk accent they just switch off and deliver the minimum service. I watched as other american customers got 5 star service while i gasped for a second coffee ,water and my food. The food when arrived was so below average i couldnt wait to leave. Not the breakfast i wanted before my visit to alcatraz. Wont set foot over ihops door ever again

Great breakfast

By Lennster |

Very busy at breakfast time but the short wait was worth it. A fantastic breakfast that set us up for the day's activities and well priced, great service.

Average Pancakes

By Flody994 |

Took a trip to IHOP whilst visiting the USA as were were told we just had to go there! The portions were large but the pancakes were just alright and the accompanying optional sauces we tried were so artificial, they were horrible! The service was a little slow and uninterested as well, so I wouldn't rush to go back.

Nice service.

By SteenAlive |

Nice service, great location near our hotel, Zephyr. Unlimited coffee. Food was well tasting. We will come again.

A Few Tips About This IHOP

By Marty Bielicki |

This I-Hop is ideally located on the corner of Powell and Beach Streets, just a block off the famous Embarcadero walkway. There are a number of hotels in the area that do not offer breakfast, and this I-Hop would be a good alternative eatery. Depending on when you come, this diner is either busy or pleasantly comfortable. Our experience we found the food and service to be up to being above satisfactory. The eggs, toast and coffee came out perfect. We found the prices to be what other I-Hops would charge. If you found this review “helpful” in any way, please press “LIKE” to let me know.

Nice place for breakfast

By fightteacher |

We ate 3 of our 4 breakfasts here during our recent trip to San Francisco. The staff here is very friendly and the service is quick. The only issue we experienced was during our last meal a key ingredient was missing from my meal but they didn't tell me that they were out of it until the dish was served to me. I would have ordered something different had I known ahead. The meal was still good, however.

Large portions!

By Wrighty0 |

Staying nearby so stopped by for pancakes, our server was very attentive. We had coffees and juice (free refills) and 2 pancake stacks one banana and strawberry and one blueberry. There are 4 pancakes in a stack and we struggled to eat all of them! They were good but much bigger than anticipated!

A bit grubby inside

By wendyjnicholson64 |

Food ok, service quick and friendly, but a bit grubby, toilets really needed cleaning and guy who we paid wasn't too friendly

Not worth the visit

By harrison774 |

Food had a bad taste, especially the hash browns. Did not go back afterwards. It seems to be really busy, but I doubt if the people return.

We loved the IHOP so much we ate here twice!

By Lisa W |

I have to start my review off by saying this first. If you go to the IHOP hope you get Placido as your server! What a lovely, friendly gentleman. Best customer service. My husband and I were happy the first day he served us but when we got him again we were so pleased. The food at IHOP was excellent! The first day we had the 2 x 2 x 2 and the last day of our trip I had the French Toast while my husband had a nice double decker BLT with a side of pancakes. Coffee is very good as well. So accommodating. If you are looking for a good place for BREAKFAST, Head to the IHOP and hope you get Placido!

split decission...... perfect start to the day

By thekerseys |

this IHOP was moments away from our hotel. we Love IHOP and this one did not dissapoint. great food and perfect coffee [even better with vanilla creamer] i had the split decission, which is the Best start to any day.

Nice place to eat

By erichollywood |

Whilst staying at the hotel zephyr both myself and the wife had breakfast and dinner at the I hop on beach street as it’s right next door to the zephyr.the food was lovely and the staff made us very welcome. The prices we paid were very reasonable compared to other diners close by as we thought we were getting ripped off.we also used other I hop diners in other parts of the city as you knew what we were getting.big thanks from two happy Scottish customers.

Good food reasonably priced for the area

By Traveller_12a45 |

The service was not excellent, but a great place to eat on a budget, especially if you are travelling with children.

The BEST breakfast ever! So

By Leah Watts |

The BEST breakfast ever! So good we ate here twice!! Pancakes & cooked breakfast was lovely - good prices & good service! Cannot wait to have a breakfast at IHOP again!

Yum

By OgMnM |

Just wanted a feed of pancakes and nice light breakfast meal. Strawberry/banana pancakes were delicious as too the breakfast omelette. Lovely service, nice ambiance : )

A typical, well run diner.

By GregandJo412 |

We had breakfast on three days here during our stay at a nearby hotel. Breakfast was busy but the staff kept up with demand and served us very well. The food was great although some meals were too generous for one person.

Loved it! Wish there was an IHOP in Scotland.

By Joy C |

Absolutely loved dining here- wish there was an IHOP in Scotland. Extensive menu- something to suit everyone. Large portions and delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was clean and welcoming.

US breakfast as it should be

By Tony S |

This was recommended to us by a friend and it didn't disappoint! Great all round with a fantastic menu to choose from. Service and quality of food excellent, gets busy though! With the UK exchange rate as it is at the moment, it is certainly not cheap though!

Excellent breakfast

By Angela D |

We found this restaurant on TripAdvisor. It has excellent reviews and I can confirm that this is the best breakfast restaurant in the Fisherman's Wharf area! Staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent everytime. Large portions fill you up nicely for a day out! Sometimes there was a wait for a table but I take this as a good sign! Highly recommended.

Great service all round

By Leighski73 |

Stayed in a nearby hotel and this iHop was literally 3 minutes walk away. Friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere and a good choice of breakfast menu options. Food was well prepared and price was reasonable for the area. Would definitely recommend this place for breakfast if your in the area.

yummy

By jaycee E |

great experience, huge portions. I had the Nutella banana crepes, the coffee was good the juice was huge.

Birthday breakfast

By crazyhairuk |

Loved it here. The staff were lovely and the portions were big. They realised it was my birthday and gave me a little cake with some ice cream as a treat although I really was full up after breakfast...I still ate it! Definitely recommend this place!

Poor quality food

By Soren_Odense |

We were so disappointed here. The food was really not good, only the omelet was ok. Place seemed dirty and run down. There are better places around

good breakfast and great service

By Jorgequel |

I had breakfast here for 4 days last week, good pancakes and omelettes. They offer Tropicana juices....it's a pitty they don't have natural OJ. Service was great all days!

Food that actually matches the photos..

By SD |

From start to finish, love, love, love. Staff were fabulous and happy at their work, it showed. Menu had something for everyone. I had steak omelette with hash brown, protein packed and delicious. I also had steak tips, steak was melt in your mouth. We tried the pancakes, fluffy and light. Hubby had the sausage, bacon, ham, hash & eggs, perfect. Price wise, it worked out $45 for two people with juice and coffee. Highly recommend

Lots of choices

By LauraWV11 |

I've never been to an Ihop before. We went for breakfast on Christmas day. There was too much choice! The meals were huge, and the sides that came with our meals were just as big. The service was fast and the staff were friendly. We went back for our tea on the evening. The prices are very cheap and the food was very tasty.

great breakfast that was close to the hotel

By eschmitten |

we had a very good breakfast with very good service every morning because the restaurant was so close to our hotel. Always prompt with service and the food was consistently good

Great place for families with toddlers.

By Travel buddy |

Very ordinary and a bit boring breakfast. The service was great and fast. Quality doesn’t match the price compared with other restaurants in town.

Good breakfast

By Courtney |

Next store from Hotel Zephz, quick friendly service, food good, resturant clean, you can order to go.

Great food!

By Sandra B |

Went here for brekkie both mornings during our stay and was not disappointed on either occasion. Meals were great with lots to choose from! Would recommend to anyone!

Food is fine, restaurant is grubby!

By Eles W |

Came here for breakfast, same as every other Ihop. There was a wait to be seated and they were giving out tickets when you arrive and told around 20 minutes but we were seated much quicker. The service was fast once seated and food was your typical ihop meal- And What let this place down was the restrooms!! They were vile! I felt like I needed a shower once I left! They were bad enough to put me off going again! It’s a shame because it’s a good location, easily accessible and the food was nice

Started our trip with breakfast

By Fredrik R |

Just what we expected. Nice and helpful staff. Good breakfast with eggs, bacon and pancakes. Nice local and reasonable noise level. Will be happy to return

Fun to try!

By Grant S |

For those tourists who have seen Ihop on a movie or t.v. show, it's quite fun to pop in and have a breakfast at Ihop. They are currently running a temporary burger special but are still sticking with their core product. Place was busy and well located near the bigger piers, staff managed well with a busy time.

Kids love this concept

By Karsten P |

The kids were begging us to comeback and have breakfast at ihop. This restaurant delivered the concept to perfection. Only negatives were that their booths are too small/narrow Two times the kitchen forgot orders 😤

Overpriced and underwhelmed

By RYANC61 |

Overpriced and not worth the money or wait. Had breakfast which was bland and added the 2 pieces of bacon which cost $4.50 for the smallest pieces.

GREAT low carb omelette - no really!

By TheDadDude |

I would not even have gone to iHOP except that I had an early start to my day and they were the only place open nearby. I have eaten at and positively reviewed several of the Fisherman's Wharf area breakfast houses which are great. I needed breakfast at 6:30 and the other places were not yet open. I am eating low carb, so I went for the Colorado Omelette with low expectations. If proved to be one of the best omelettes I've had in a long time. It was huge and filled with bacon, sausage, shredded beef, ham, chopped onions and green peppers, and cheddar cheese. The shredded beef was particularly noteworthy, as were the onions and peppers which were finely diced and not overcooked. I couldn't finish it and zapped the leftovers the next morning. I have not bothered going into an iHOP for more than 30 years, but I will stop in again when I am back in the area in December.

Full range of PROPER Pancakes - Excellent service!

By Silvia_Wanderlust87 |

That morning we woke up with a sweet tooth and decided to try for the first time PROPER American Pancakes. My husband had enough of our boring hotel's breakfast so he took me to IHOP. The place looks nice and welcoming (100% American style) and because we are from the UK it looked very different to us, that's one of the reasons why we decided to stop there. Staff was very kind and welcoming, it took 15 minutes to decide what to order just because the menus are huge and they give you plenty of choices! That was AMAZING! Once decided the waiters were constantly serving us and filling our mugs with coffee (and that's a thing that you notice and appreciate when you are a coffee addict like me! ah) Right, the PANCAKES... when they came to our table we had a laugh of joy and amusement because they were huge, massive ...and that's what we wanted, what we needed that morning cos we were starving. Those pancakes were delicious and you can put whatever you want on them, the variety they offer is impressive. We had strawberry/banana and strawberry/honey/cream and wow! They tasted so good !! But again they were massive! we asked if we could take them with us to the hotel and the girl at the till said with a big smile "sure you can, no problems" and put them in a bag. We've never tried real pancakes before and IHOP made us very happy customers, so ...next time we'll come to the USA we'll surely pop in again!

friendly staff, good food

By tracey d |

plenty of choice, food was lovely, girls soft drinks were refillable as is the coffee, good price for what you get which is usual with chain restaurants, filled us up for the day would recommend

Same as it is everywhere, which is a good thing!

By auroraclubjazz |

My son is an IHOP loving teen so we had to go there when staying in the touristy Pier 39 area. Regular IHOP food, not great but not bad typical bfast fare.

Hugely disappointing

By Bekah B |

I have heard about IHOP from a few people in the past and was really excited to try it, sadly I was left deflated and disappointed. They were understaffed and we were ignored. Then half of our order was forgotten. The staff were visibly tense and argumentative with each other and some were rude to customers. The omelette I had was flavourless and the pancakes were the worst I had during my entire trip. I was expecting a real treat of American pancakes and what I got I could’ve bought at home in the UK from any supermarket. In fact, they’re exactly like the ones from Asda. Thankfully I found that everywhere else had proper thick, fluffy and freshly made pancakes that left the ‘house of pancakes’ looking a very sorry state.

Too many better options nearby for same price

By Angie W |

IHOP is always a fun place to go and I have been coming to this one for years during SF visits but on my most recent trip, the food took forever even when restaurant wasn't busy, food served luke warm, and I couldn't find anyone to get me my bill and had to sit by the front register for 20 minutes until someone showed up. I also had lots of people joining my business trip who went to this IHOP and had same experience so I say walk two blocks to the wonderful 8AM Cafe and you'll pay about the same amount for amazing food and service.

Pattern of racism/classism

By Debra M |

Saw another review that mentioned witnessing racist behavior by the manager, so thought I would share my experience too. At some point these types of reviews will outweigh the positive reviews - which this establishment does not deserve. Despite having a diner in the facility who had just been served, the doors being unlocked and the place looked open. I was told in a very condescending manner the restaurant was closed. Hours on the door stated they closed at 10...it was 9:58, so I thought I would see if I could get a quick to go order. Nowhere do it say last seating at "x" time or kitchen closes at "x" which leads me to believe you are fully open up and until the closing time. And given that they would have to wait at least the 20 minutes for those sitting down eating to finish before close - they could have at least considered a to go order. The kicker was the racist/classist manager who assumed, that I as Black woman was looking for a handout. When I asked her if I could get a quick to go order - her response was we don't have any soup...umm, huh? I'm done.

Excellent Service, really good food

A number of hotels which we visited on our travels this year (The Langham excepted of course!) could use this place as a training module for their breakfast staff. We visited twice for breakfast, each time a well turned out server came to take our order promptly, got the order right, brought the food swiftly, and made sure everything was on our table that we would need. We even got a thermos of boiling water for our tea, and milk! I cant fault this chain. I just wish there were some in Scotland!

Terrible food

By SteveHansen68 |

My wife and I popped in for a quick dinner after doing the hop on hop off night bus tour. I ordered the pancakes and my wife the crepes, both were bloody horrible. I ate less than a quarter of my meal and my wife ate less than half of hers. I ordered banana pancakes which were supposed to be topped with fresh banana and strawberries but were swimming in horrible sickly artificial strawberry syrup. The parts of the pancakes that weren't drenched in this terrible artificial syrup were that dry it wasn't funny. I wouldn't feed this muck to my dog. When we told the waitread she was very apologetic but said that there was nothing she could do about it.

Across the street from Sheraton at Fisherman's Wharf and food that kids love

By Mirela |

We stayed at Sheraton -Fisherman's Wharf and we were suprised to find Ihop right across the street. The kids love it, the food is pretty good. If you're looking to get a quick bite, nothing fancy but affordable, give it a try. We weren't dissapointed.

Great Food

By sho56 |

Typical american experience, great food and friendly staff. Pancakes are so so good, make sure you are hungry going here as portions are massive

great meals for money

By MartyMoose102015 |

Good variety and service. Stayed at Zephyr and very handy for meals going out or returning from a big day,

Great everytime

By wrisberg |

Went twice food freshly made. Good service we had a coupon so we got one meal free. Fantastic pancakes and coffee

Good Food Good Service

By G W |

We visited this restaurant three times during our week-long stay in San Francisco. We had good food and good service each time!

Friendly place for oversized breakfast

By Not_Santa |

Fast and friendly service, your average breakfast grub, but portions were huge. Great opening hours, we used it couple of times for late breakfast.

Pancakes

By UlrE2015 |

I had the half stack of American breakfast pancakes, their original type. At the table were different types of syrups and my half stack pancakes came with butter. Filled me up well for the whole day until dinner. Syrups with taste were very artificial flavoured, however the pancakes and the real original syrup were great tastes combined! Quick service and ok facility.

A Breakfast Place

By BridgetM147 |

Just 2 minutes from our hotel, the ihop is a good place for breakfast, nice choice of eggs, bacon, sausage coffee tea and juice. We came for breakfast twice, the staff seated us quickly, and were friendly. We didn’t have to wait long at all for our food. A great place to start your day, before all the walking and sight seeing.

10/10 fluffy pancakes

By Laura |

We had the Mexican churro pancakes and they were so fluffy and light. The chicken strips were good too. Service was fairly average

Great breakfast

By Stuart M |

IHOP is my wife’s favourite place in the US for breakfast and this didn’t disappoint. Blueberry pancakes were to die for and my breakfast slider was great too.

Great

By Sharon A |

Our family visited here twice during a short stay and sat at the counter. Kids loved the crepes and pancakes and the combos were great value and fulfilling. Loved the Mexican Churro pancakes.

Great service and great food!

By Theresa J |

We love IHOP so we are biased! Had a make your own breakfast and it was yummy! My wife went for the Cina stack pancakes and they were delicious, but possibly a bit too sweet for breakfast. I stuck with the classic original and polished them off! Love the hash browns, can't get enough of them. Lovely server who was very attentive. We would come again.

GREAT STAFF & FOOD

By FunJJ |

We visited this IHOP each day at least once a day for the five days we were in San Francisco. The staff was exceptional, the for was outstanding and delivered to our table in a very timely manner. All was fresh and very tasty. That's why we visited everyday we were in San Francisco. GREAT CHOICE & VARIETY!

We seriously needed Breakfast

By theoraclesboy |

Quite a nice spot to stop for an over needed Breakfast. Good food, quick service, pleasant staff, good surroundings.

Yummy

By Jules141110 |

Had brekkie there two mornings running. Quick, friendly service, beautiful food both times, will definitely be back.

Bad

By Tomas W |

Undercooked pancakes at IHOP us not my idea of great service. Very slow service and broken furniture combined with the fact that the waiter wrote his own "tip" suggestion on the note makes me want to give a one star.

Great food and large portions,

By Malcolm T |

Great food and large portions, i was serverd by the ;ovely April, she was very friendly and a great waitress

IHOP at its best

By poppysno |

Great food, great service and very clean restaurant. The menu is fantastic and we had breakfast omelettes and pancakes. Coffee was unlimited. It really set us up for a day of sightseeing.

Great for Breakfast & Dinner

By OurAdventures2 |

A quiet restaurant just off of Pier 39, we visited for Breakfast and Dinner and it was large portion and decent prices for both meals. We would return! We felt a little rushed for Dinner even though there were only 4 other tables

Sweetest treat

By ali j |

We enjoyed a very delicious lunch at I Hop sanfrancisco close to fishermans Warf. Weordered chocolate chip pancakes and a n amazing omelette. Service was excellent. The amount of pancakes was huge , but we were able to take what we couldn't eat back to our hotel. The restaurant itself was very clean and the staff were very welcoming . We really enjoyed our time there. We had a very relaxing meal and we didn't feel rushed .I would recommend IHOP fishermans warf . Very tasty food.

Old place, regular service and 20 minute waits

By mnietosor |

Service not very good, the place needs renovation. You can't have these prices with such an outdated place. The waitress was not friendly.

Fantastic Breakfast

By theoraclesboy |

Thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast befor going on BIG BUS TOUR, food was lovely, coffee and tea piping hot, servers were polite and helpful.

Fantastic Breakfast Menu

By SAB5859 |

We went here for our breakfast on our second day in San Francisco. The breakfast menu is exceptionally good with a fantastic choice. I had the chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs, hash browns and two pancakes, it was delicious. My granddaughter loved the oatmeal with sliced bananas. Everything we had was good as was the coffee. Service was attentive and efficient. It’s a very large restaurant and was very busy serving breakfasts. Toilets were in a clean condition. Definitely recommend this restaurant for breakfast.

American coffee

By PCRIDER |

Every time I come to these sides I walk in an Ihop. There's no mistake. Nice place with good service and a typical American café.

Massive selection of breakfasts

By WOMBLE |

Tucked just behing the hustle of Fishermans Wharf. We went for Breakfast. Was busy but we got seated straight away. Wide selection of breakfasts and pancakes... maybe too much choice. Staff were poliite and food was good. IHOP is a chain and there are many in California.

Typical IHOP

By Stefanie H |

This location is the same as all other IHOPs - slow service, good pancakes. It tends to get crowded due to the area. So many reviews are by tourists from other countries, so I'm wondering if somehow IHOP is being touted as a great restaurant. I can tell you that it's a nationwide chain that is pretty low on the restaurant rating scale. People come for the pancakes and all-day breakfast. If you are hungry and you keep your expectations low, you will be satisfied.

Huge variety

By leils |

Our first IHOP experience! I struggled to choose something from the menu just because there was so much to choose from! I ended up with the brioche French toast with bananas and a side of bacon and husband had the chicken and waffles with a side of sausage. Both were really good and I left in a slight sugar coma. My only gripe was with the coffee as I prefer it a lot strong but you can't really complain at bottomless coffee for $3.99. Service was very good. I'd definitely eat here again.

Good Breakfast

By Tigertoc |

Good place to grad some breakfast it seemed to pancakes plus what you wanted!! we went the other way as not keen on pancakes, staff helpful but service a little slow. Food was good and prices reasonable.

My favourite breakfast place

By IMTKD |

Had breakfast here every morning of our visit to San Francisco. Lovely food and good staff. Double blueberry pancakes were my favourite.

Great Breakfasts

By J R M |

This IHOP is conveniently located on Beach Street across from Pier 39. It is clean and service is friendly despite how busy the servers are. It can get really busy if a tourist group visits. Food is good quality and prices reasonable.

Great breakfast option

By travelore1900 |

Great place to get your early morning breakfast if you're staying at a nearby hotel. Service can be super slow though since both days of our visit, they were heavily understaffed and wait times were enormous for both getting seated and placing the order. Menu comes with calories mentioned so that's really helpful - you can see right there how you'd end up with a 2000 calorie breakfast if you had no concept of calories. Pier39 is walking distance and there's a mall and CVS right around the corner.

Pancake that's much better then Denny's

By Hockie69 |

Quick to the table, friendly server and fast serving of food. If only the table can be clean up after the last user in a proper manner and topup the pancake syrup cos it was empty on my table

Anniversary

By Morris H |

It was close to our hotel. Food was consistent with IHOP. Service was very good. The overall cleanliness was questionable as food was on the floor and the restrooms were unpleasant.

Mixed Feelings at iHOP

By SallyPembrokeshire |

I have mixed feelings about ihop in San Francisco. We visited twice whilst on holiday and the two visits varied drastically in service and experience. The first visit was an enjoyable visit. The burger and chips lunch was lovely and the service was quick and attentive. The second evening visit for pancakes and a milkshake was very disappointing indeed! Only one member of staff front of house working, a long wait for order to be taken/and the food to arrive! No milkshakes because they had run out of milk!! Customers were jumping the queue and a homeless person was sitting inside the restaurant waiting for scraps which was very off putting! Wouldn't recommend visiting here on an evening as it was probably a regular occurance here.

Awesome brunch at Ihop

By Amit D |

had a staffed omlette with pancake. The quality of food was amazing. Their service was also excellent

Great food!

By Ichechel |

Been there a couple of times at different times off the day, inlcuiding the 2 am service on saturday and the service has always been great! What I love the most, the sodas with fruits. Good choice if you are in the area

Pancakes, pancakes, Pancakes!

By Steve L |

You have to try at least one IHOP but be careful or you will get hooked on these fat pancakes with loads of syrups and fillings. Not for the health conscious!

When in USA it's either Dennys or IHop to start the day

By Peter L (exciled Geordie) |

They are standard, good menu with standard staff, all slick, helpful and willing to help you get what you want. Great way to start the day anywhere in USA

Breakfast

By keithtimson |

A good start to the day. Big welcome & a great breakfast. Good value for money would recommend it to anyone.

my best chicken and waffle !

By Laurene1123284 |

I had there my best chicken and waffle it was really yummy. I didn't know this place until I saw through the window some delicious plates then I checked on internet and went there the day after to try it. I loved it !!

Quick stop for a milkshake!

By Widget12 |

We stopped here (very close to our hotel) to buy a milkshake for our 9 year old daughter who had never been to America. Friendly staff and the milkshake did not disappoint! Absolutely delicious. We sat at the bar for two coffees and a milkshake. Would have eaten but we were only passing through. Great location, very central to Fisherman's Wharf. Recommended.

Great food and Service

By RachelM087 |

Always visit an IHOP when in the USA as there aren’t any in the UK. Food here is on par with every other IHOP I have been too, but the service was better. Staff were friendly and were quick to refill drinks when we needed it.

Very Disappointing Experience

By Joe C |

We ate here twice (for brunch) during a recent holiday in San Francisco. Service on the second visit was very poor. The restaurant facilities are old and - in some cases damaged. We were sat in a booth on the second occasion, after another couple asked to be moved, and the bench seating was in such ill-repair, it was unusable. The food itself is mass-produced, and not particularly good - either in flavour or presentation. It is also expensive for what is, really, plated and table-served fast food. On our second (and last) visit, it took so long that we had to ask - twice - whether we had been forgotten. We had only returned as it was conveniently located for our hotel, and we had a timed excursion we had to be at. I would not recommend this restaurant - although others in the chain may be better. Being a visitor to the USA, I've heard about IHOP in programmes and on film, so was looking forward to the pancake experience. I was really disappointed.

Outstanding value fir breakfast

By Ellebee |

Wow outstanding value for money. $7 for two pancakes, two eggs and bacon for breakfast. Delicious freshly cooked and served and just enough for me to manage. Actually didn’t need lunch so also cost effective! Lovely waitress too. Not the nicest ihop we’ve ever done but very convenient for our hotel.

Excellent food and service

By EvitaKnits |

Our waiter Placido, was a great chap and we enjoyed his service. We were in a rush because we had to make it to our Alcatraz tour and he made sure we left on time. The food was great too. Pancakes nice and hot and fluffy. I’m going to miss IHOP when I’m back in the uk.

If you love America pancakes

By Thor N |

I traveled across tower to get here. And the experience was worth it. I love experiencing and tasting food when I travel. And the IHOP is no gourmet restaurant. But that’s not the experience you visit it for. You visit for the American breakfast experience. I never knew you could make Pancakes in so many different ways. I had the Cin-a-stack a large stacks of pancakes with cinnamon syrup on. And OMG how good it was.

easy and good. I recommend it for a quick stop

By rumepera |

I clarify that it is a simple fast food type place but for the level it offers it left me enthusiastic. Excellent service, fast and attentive, generous and good portions, both for sweet dishes, on all pancakes and for savory ones such as omelettes. Adequate cost

Fab pancakes

By Sharon I |

Came to IHOP for breakfast, the pancakes are amazing. Huge portion, plenty of toppings, lovely and fluffy. Great menu and service was really good too, very friendly. All in all a great visit, will definitely be back 😁

Great Breakfast

By Shagues |

This was my first ever ihop and I wasn’t disappointed! Our server was a real happy guy who was very helpful. I ordered the double blueberry stack which was delicious. I will definitely be back before we head back hone. We need these in Scotland x

Simple and Tasty

By Jo |

No frills wasy breakfast that was served quick, hot and was very tasty. Would recommend if in the area and visit again if we're in the city.

Best pancakes I've ever eaten

By lornad03 |

The pancakes were absolutely incredible and I really wish there was an ihop in england, the only reason this was given a 4 was because it took way too long to be seated and when we went to pay we were given the wrong receipt, would definitely go for the food and not the service

Just what the Dr ordered

By MunchkinAdventures |

As two Brits in San Francisco, we could not wait to have a proper American Style breakfast and the IHop did not disappoint. I good selection of breakfast from crazy omelettes to, mountains of pancakes, to bacon and eggs with refillable drinks it was fabulous. I had the bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, eggs (over easy - I always wanted to say that) which came with a side of pancakes. They say you can have all you each pancakes with any breakfast combination but I could barely eat the two they gave me. I had to try all four syrups on offer though and loved the sweet pancakes vs the savoury breakfast. The staff were really pleasant and even gave is drinks to go included in the cost. Seating area and toilets were also clean. It has to be done at least once guys.

As expected

By The_Chilihouse |

We arrived to find a queue of people waiting to have breakfast, and were told that the wait would be about 20 minutes, but in reality it was less than that. We used the free WiFi whilst waiting but for some reason this wouldn't work at our table, which was some way away from the entrance. Our order was taken in a reasonable time and the food arrived in a similarly reasonable time. We all went for different sorts of pancakes although it was disappointing that the minimum amount was a stack of three, and all the 'interesting' options were stacks of four - smaller portions would have been appreciated. It was quite pricy for what it was but nothing unexpected.

Amazing pancakes

By Joeandems |

Fantastic food, large portions, delicious buttermilk pancakes. 4 different flavoured syrups on the table (pecan and blueberry were my favourites). Easily enough food for brunch to keep you going til dinner time.

Typical IHOP Food

By SharonB231 |

Typical IHOP food with many choices for breakfast, sandwiches or dinner items. Prices are reasonable. Service was quick. A great place for a quick bite or breakfast.

Hugh breakfasts

By oharasteph |

If you like a huge feed for breakfast then this is the place to go. We ordered eggs, bacon and hash browns and were amazed to be handed a plate of pancakes as well.

Lots and lots of pancakes and lots more

By Suzanne G |

We visited on a Friday morning late December and had a table of 9 including adults and kids. Lots of pancakes were ordered and consumed by the kids. Adults were able to order breakfasts including eggs and bacon and omelettes. Serving sizes are BIG so bring your appetites. Service was good, we were seated very quickly and checked on throughout our meal.

Average IHOP food

By Sable_grace |

Had breakfast the first morning we were in town, we are early birdies and there didn't seem to be enough staff. Our food came out in 4 different stages, so some parts of it were less warm than other parts. Very pricey compared to IHOP where we live (it's SF after all) and service was a little scattered, but food was what you'd expect.

Lovely place next door to our hotel zephyr

By 451annmarie |

Lovely place for food opens 6am today is our second morning here very close to our hotel loads of choice on menu for breakfast lunch clean tidy and staff very polite would recommend

Optimal

By Sofia |

We tried this chain for breakfast for the first time and we were very satisfied. Both sweet and savory, very good, we returned several times for both breakfast and lunch.

The worst ihop branch I’ve been to!

By Helen L |

I should start by saying we love ihop! But not the branch in the city of San Francisco near Japan town. The staff don’t want to be there. They get your order wrong, despite saying several times, no butter on the pancakes, they all came with butter!! When I asked for them to be corrected, they returned with the same pancakes with the butter scraped off ! I was disgusted ! So I returned them again ! We asked for water for my daughter as her only drink. We had to ask 6 times before we eventually got it. !!! The food was not as good as other ihops we have been. The coffee wasn’t as good. And the service was terrible ! Don’t bother ! Go to a different ihop!

Convenient

By LisaSecula |

IHOP was convenient to our hotel (Hotel Zephyr). My family stopped here for breakfast before our visit to Alcatraz. I am not much of a pancake person, so I ordered an egg white omelette. It was pretty good. My daughter ordered the red velvet pancakes and didn't love them. My two sons ordered chocolate, chocolate chip pancakes and they enjoyed them more. The kids enjoyed the hot chocolate. I thought the coffee was just okay. Ambience and service just okay. I suppose our experience was about as expected, not a stand-out.

Typical IHOP

By kmethvin |

Typical IHOP. Nothing worth noting. Decided to eat here before our trip to Alcatraz. Not sure why, but this was our second breakfast establishment that was stingy with syrup. I don't like eating what is on the table so I always ask for warm syrup. There is only once entrance so you have to walk all the way around. Didn't have to wait too long for a table but they were full.

Excellent food and service

By Linda B |

Short wait time, huge restaurant. Everything cooked perfect. Excellent service and location. Would return here whenever in Wharf area. Best IHOP I have been in lately!

Breakfast across from hotel

By Becky D |

There was no free breakfast at our hotel. We ate here twice. Great service both times. We were able to get in and out and on with vacation stuff.

Nice Place

By Jocelyn Sun |

IHOP was a good place to visit for breakfast. The servings were huge, but it was very good to spend a morning at! Would recommend if you have a hotel near by.

A quick breakfast

By IRB |

We took breakfast here as we had an early morning start for our day trip. The food was warm, the coffees ok and orange juice fine. Service was quick and easy.

Poor experience

By JMark |

Was here for an early breakfast on sunday. Ordered BLT and discovered it was super dry. No tomatoes. Missing ingredients. No cutlery, nobody came to ask how things were going. Had to get own utensils. Once pointed out did take off cost of orange juice.

Slow service

By ne_quine |

We stopped off here to grab something quick to eat in-between doing touristy stuff. We ended up in a quieter bit of the restaurant which meant we were basically ignored and it was us that had to go search out staff to order after we gave up waiting for them to come to us. Once we got our order placed the food did come quite quickly and was tasty enough.

Great Service and Good Breakfast

By Luv2hikejulie |

We found ourselves in the city at 0800 so we decided to eat breakfast before doing the touristy stuff at Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. Miguel, our server, was quite efficient and made sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast was very filling and yummy.

Good

By dany0802 |

I was happy to see an IHOP. We weren't sure of any good breakfast places so we opted for the comfort zone of IHOP. Food was great. Service was kind of slow. We didn't see our waiter Miguel much. He took order, someone else brought out the food. We had to flag him down to bring our check. However we liked that we were not rushed even though they were quite busy. The hostess worked hard to seat us promptly once we arrived.

Delicious breakfast and great location

By yoohoo614 |

While staying close by, we ate breakfast at IHOP three times. Each time we had hot, carefully prepared meals.

Disgusting.

By Yoda4208 |

Went there for lunch ...2 couples...never again!! No customer service...long wait to be seated...tables were not cleaned off even long after customers had left! Staff were more interested in talking amongst themselves...order was taken after a whileof being ignored and after we saw a staff member wipe his face of sweat with a paper towel and then immediatly handle food without sanitising his hands we got up and walked out!!! No one seemed to care!!! My friend told me the ladies restroom was a mess...bins overflowing...paper strewn all over etc. T Will never visit another ihop outlet again!!!
