Good, but not benchmark

By Northernwatch |

After reading all the local reviews, thought this should be THE place for sushi in South Lake Union. Admittedly, I only had sushi take-out from here and did not get the whole dining experience. With that being said, the sushi was a little on the high-end, though not obscenely so, more in the range of a fine dining experience. Unfortunately, one of the pieces of fish used in my sushi was starting to "turn" and was not fresh anymore. To anyone that does not know, fresh fish should never taste "fishy," which this did. It could have been just one bad piece and they didn't put as much concern into a take-out order than someone sitting down who would have sent it back, but was a little off putting. Other than that, however, the cohesiveness of the pieces were good, and the warm service even while I was waiting (15 min's) was very pleasant. Also, the dining looked very elegant and the service proper...just hope they aren't relying on the sauces to disguise sushi that is not as fresh as it should be. For what I tasted, I Love Sushi's sushi was comparable to places I normally eat sushi at costing 2/3's as much.

Best sushi!!

By Doniel H |

Delicious large chunks of fresh fish. So many options for all tastes. Very creative rolls! Big portions. Amazingly friendly and hard working staff.

Plastic, plastic and more plastic

By emmarosegriffith |

Couldn’t believe how much plastic waste I love Sushi sent us when we ordered to-go. I am used to other sushi joints which use boxes but this restaurant used all plastic for everything including all plastic containers with extra plastic utensils and bags. So, so sad to see and disappointing. I will definitely not be back and if you care about your plastic waste consumption I recommend you don’t support this business either until they change their packaging

Sublime sashimi

By Sashimimimi |

The evening at I Love Sushi at S Lake Union couldn't have been better. We were shown our seats quickly upon arrival, given a preference of seating and were graciously attended to. The evening specials were plentiful and I couldn't resist starting off with the live sashimi uni-sea urchin still in it's shell. There was a bucket full of the creatures on the counter and the master's skill in extracting the delicate pods from the spiny sphere of a a shell was impressive. Minutes after ordering, a work of art appeared before me. With the shell acting as the "bowl"' the fresh uni lay atop julienned daikon radish and shiso leaves. The uni was incredibly fresh and briny; you could taste a little bit of the sea in each morsel! It definitely was the highlight of the meal. Other items were equally as fresh and tasty, and the Master was attentive throughout the meal.

Try It You Will Like It!

Authentic Japanese food and great service make this a restaurant that you should try if you are in the area. The restaurant was in walking distance of our hotel, a very pleasant treat.

OK - but not outstanding

By THN_DK |

Had lunch. We got 3 rolls which were OK - but a bit loose in the texture. Overall it was "fine" meaning I would not go out of my way to avoid this - on the other hand I would not seek it out either

Wonderful fresh sushi, made while you watch, with fantastic views.

By Gayle V |

The sushi here is delicious, freshly made with a big variety of fish. There is a large eating bar if you like to watch the amazing chefs preparing your sushi; or you can get a table with a view of the lake and yachts. Go early because it is a favorite of the locals and fills up fast. Check out the chalkboard with the specials on it before ordering. There is easy parking at a nominal cost. Staff here are very accommodating.

If you like sushi, you will like it here

By TravelingfromPace |

I hate here one day for lunch. I arrived about 20 minutes before closing after lunch (which I didn't realize that they closed between lunch and dinner). They told me upfront and indicated that they would be able to accommodate me. I ordered the brunch special which included miso soup, a roll and a kitchen item. If I did it again, I wouldn't do the kitchen item (i chose chicken teriyaki) and just ordered another roll. It is expensive, but then again most sushi is.

Fine sushi and great location

By BellaCoolaman |

It is always great to see some saltwater when you go a-sushying and we were treated to a lovely sunset to go with a close-to-flawless meal. I tend to judge a place by its uni (sea urchin roe) but also by the freshness of yellowtail and salmon which ought to be glistening and were. It was crowded when we came and initially a bit confused in the keeping straight who wanted to be at the bar and who not. But they made up for with pretty fast service and good food. Just for those who might be scared off by the reviewer who complained about the washrooms and the dazed looking sushi chef. We found nothing at all like that - to the contrary the washrooms were spotless and the chefs were as sharp as their filleting knives!

Amazing

By MPhillips76 |

A small group of us went here for sushi, sashimi & sake. The location was nice, rift on the water, watching the float planes taking off. The service was ok; very polite but disorganised. (We kept asking for ginger but it never arrived.) The food, though, was sublime. We had squid, then salmon & tuna steak sashimi, a golden tofu roll & veggie bento box. It was all incredibly good. The golden tofu roll was just wonderful. I know there are a lot of sushi & fish places in the area but I think this would take some beating.

Fresh and Local

By areview28 |

I was really impressed with the wonderful selection of local seafood available at I Love Sushi. The restaurant has a lovely view of Lake Union. Fish is totally fresh, much of it locally sourced. Sushi roll selections are quite creative. Try the Pacific Northwest Special, Ocean Alexander Roll, and the freshwater eel. Service is great. There's a good beer, wine, and sake selection. Prices are reasonable for the Seattle area. Who could ask for more in a sushi restaurant?

Love This Place

By Susan H |

If you love sushi, this is the place for you! The view is great, the service is great, and the sushi is fresh!!!

The best salmon sashimi

By Chetede |

The location is great, you're sitting outside right on the water with a view of downtown and space needle. Food is outstanding, big variety of rolls and of course sashimi. The yummiest salmon sashimi ever!

Everybody will love this sushi!

By karla014 |

Oh my! We had one of the best sushi ever! the fish was so fresh and delicious, salad and miso soup were very good also. Great service and reasonable prices.

Good sushi and pleasant staff

By Paula B |

Dropped in for a quick bite after arriving. Very conventient location across the street from our hotel overlooking Lake Union. The sushi chef was very friendly.

Better than I thought it would be

By Reactor1966 |

Had the sashimi dinner and ordered an additional roll thinking that the sashimi would not fill me up. Boy was I wrong! Some of the biggest pieces of sashimi I have seen. And fresh too. View was great, sat by the window and watched the boats. Will definitely go back.

This review is for delivery only

By Melissa R |

We've ordered delivery multiple times, via Eat24. The quality of the sushi is always great, the dleivery is very fast. Only one time was our order mixed up with someone else, but they ammended the issue right away. I personally recommend the spicy tuna & the rainbow roll. I We plan to visit the restaurant soon and when we do I will update my review.

A good sushi place

By UKTurkeyTrotter |

This place was not far from our hotel. The staff are friendly and efficient. Food comes quickly and is tasty and fresh. An interesting variety of sushi not just the standard mix. A nice light Koshihikari Echigo rice beer. I would definitely go again.

Great meal here

By GRITSinNH |

Our server made a good recommendation for a sampler platter of sushi. It was very fresh, very tasty. Drinks were good too!

Continues to be some of the best Sushi in Seattle

By MDHAtlanta |

I have dined at this place since they opened in the early 1990's and it remains a great place to eat, all for a reasonable price. Great service, beautiful presentation and large portions. They have some free parking available. The place is appropriately named - "I LOVE Sushi"!

Great value sushi

By Nick |

The Seahawks inspired specials are excellent. Great menu, reasonable prices and a nice terrace to grab a beer while you wait for takeout!

The Best Sushi EVER!

By M R |

We are still reminiscing about I Love Sushi. The food was SUPERB! The "Alexander" was exquisite with phenomenal flavor. Every thing we tried was fresh and beautifully presented. For Sushi lovers, this restaurant is a Seattle Gem. We are Eager to return. This place is Highly Recommended!

Fun place, good fish

By tonyclark2015 |

The sushi here was delicious...from the traditional nigiri, including many seasonal varieties of tuna, geoduck, etc., to the more funky, modern "habañero spiced masago" toppings on creative rolls....all very tasty. Fun, unpretentious, good quality.

Amazing food!

By cdemmitt |

Friendly service, massive menu, and amazing fresh food. We had the sushi sampler and it was delicious. Great view as well.

THE freshest

By Betsy D |

Great sushi stuck away from the hubbub. Very fresh and delicious. A bit of a wait for takeout but good value for Seattle prices.

Memorable experience

By Ingrid |

Quite a pleasant surprise! Everything we ordered was delicious and appeared to be freshly prepared. Our favourites if that is possible given the huge number of choices were the crab and avocado spring rolls as well as the Lake Union rolls which had shrimp tempura, crab salad, avocado, ginger salsa and albacore tuna. The presentation of the food was beautiful and the menu items perfect for sharing. The staff were helpful and very attentive. The restaurant towards dusk seemed a little dark to us so sitting near the window was the perfect spot. On a nice day sitting outside would be the best option as the terrace faces directly onto Lake Union.

Great little restaurant!

By Sunworshiper54 |

We were staying at the Silver Cloud Inn on Lake Union and this restaurant in just down the street within walking distance. Good service and the food was very good. My husband ordered their Bento Box special and the portions were huge and tasty. I had the tempura entrée which I really enjoyed.

Highly recommended

By Stefan S |

Sushi was the best I've eaten in Seattle. Atmosphere of restaurant is not the best, but the food and service was great.

Awesome food

By Kristie N |

Try the fairview roll, really tasty! Tempura scallops melt in your mouth. The Amber beer goes great with the food. Nice patio on the water.

Used to be great, but now somewhat poor quality

By vamsally |

I remember going here many years ago and getting really fresh good sushi. I went more recently and had a most terrible sushi experience. Got chirashi bowl from sushi bar since I was little unsure of paying expensive price for omakase (usually only do this when I know sushi is fresh and good). The quality of fish was not fresh at all. They all smelled like fish (fresh ones don't do this) and I barely finished half the bowl. There wasn't really a single fish that was acceptable other than maybe salmon.

Very disappointed

By rposey6844 |

We ate here 8 years ago and this was one of the things that my husband and I were most looking forward to on this trip. We were both highly disappointed. Don't get me wrong the service was great. Summer our waitress was very knowledgeable and very sweet. However the food seriously stunk! When she saw that one of the rolls we would not eat she took it of the bill and offered us another. That one was not good either. (How do you mess up a spicy tuna? ) All I can think of was that the sushi chef was not happy that we didn't like their food. We will not return.

Dumb name - Good food

By David H |

We've done happy hour at this restaurant a number of times. Definitely recommend their happy hour chirashi, which is just the right size. We have often gotten their chirashi for take-home, and it is one of the best chriashi's in the city.

Fresh!

By Jennette R |

Expecting nothing with fresh sushi being from out of town, so delicious!!! Everything was delicious! I loved the view and outside patio. I wish we lived closer, this would be our go to sushi place. However, the sake is VERY expensive so review the menu wisely!

there is always a wait here...but the food is always a good bet

Really liked the food

By J G |

Was here two times with friend on two consecutive weekends. Pretty fast service, but made one mistake each time I was there. Liked the selection of food we had.

Best sushi

By Polly R |

Sat at sushi bar and was served piece by piece. Each piece of sushi was melted in my mouth. They were super fresh and good. The chef is very detailed to make each roll so unique. I don't know why some reviews were so bad. I grew up with sushi but after moved to NJ and I was so upset we don't have a real sushi restaurant there. I highly recommend this restaurant and ask you to sit at sushi bar for a "omakase"you wont regret!!!

Great sushi but they just ruined their sushi bar and now my wife's breasts are in her soy sauce

By jimhU5920MV |

The sushi bar was remodeled. When you sit at the sushi bar, you feel like a little kid, sitting too low to feel comfortable. If you're female, your breasts will be in your soy sauce. You can't see over or through the new barrier they erected between the customers and the sushi. Perhaps it was designed for pro basketball players who can't stand the sight of fish. Anyway, I recommend avoiding the sushi bar if you go there. Oh, and they've cranked up their house sake costs so ask before you order if you care about $$$.

Extensive Sushi Menu and Non-Sushi Fare

By BadgerAlum76 |

Busy place for lunch where the choices are nearly overwhelming. You can have your favorites --- including mackerel --- or order a complete meal such as a bento box with their miso soup. Don't let the virtual absence of parking deter you if quality sushi is what you crave.

Fresh and excellent sushi

By Ada S |

Very good sushi, great local ingredients. The generous amount of wasabi in the sushi was a pleasant surprise to some, and a not-so-nice one for the younger ones in our party. However, the quality was excellent. The restaurant has designated parking spots which made parking easy. Good service.

For All Your Sushi Needs & Desires!

By kristi b |

Man oh Man, i am no food critic or conosseuir of any type (i can't even spell the word) but this restaurant knows good sushi & sashimi. We ordered the big combination plate of sashimi, & the presentation alone blew us away. Just beautifully done. I honestly wanted to take a picture. All sorts of fish to try - perfect for 2. And we also had a few rolls that the waitress recommended - they were equally impressive. We ate for days it seems! And our waitress Michelle, made me the most amazing ginger cosmo. Actually i had to get 2 they were so delicious. Had a table inside facing the water right at sunset; just great for a couple. I would completely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Yummy

By Maggie D |

Delicious sushi, large and varied selection, and nice location. Food was great & fresh. Large saki selection & fast service. You could tell all the locals loved this place b/c take-out drivers were in& out like a revolving door. Definitely not a Pikes Place touristy place. Just delicious sushi restaurant in the Union Lake area which was just a 20 min easy walk from our downtown hotel.

Great sushi and unique specials

By mayrtuck |

The happy hour is a great place to start out. They have unusual rolls and great specials daily. They have a great view of boats on Lake Union in the summer.

So so sushi

By jvnn |

Was a little disappointed with the Dragon roll - expensive for size of roll. My friend ordered a stir fry dish and thought it was OK

Good

By CTMans |

This restaurant is on the harbor of Lake Union, a little north of downtown. Adjacent a few restaurants and yacht sales area. Restaurant is harborfront and nicely decorated. Sushi is good but not special.

Great waterfront location with gorgeous view of the harbor.

By crestwood2014 |

Good quality sushi. Very nice ambient . get the combo and try different sushi. The other dishes are delicious, too.

Nice place to relax

By Capt. Adam S |

Had a group of 7, walked in and were seated in no time at all. Our waitress Alice was great, got our ordered in and the food came out lightening fast. I had the Lake Union Bento, come hungry if you order that.

Tuna Belly and Local Clams - BOOM SON - Loved it!!!

By William T |

So it is fresh!!! As we walked in for lunch they were bringing in fresh sea urchins behind us!!! YUP, Those Please! Got the Chefs Choice - He even asked if there was anything that we really like - I knew I wanted Urchin and he made that happen - everything else he chose and did AMAZING with!!! Service - greeter was to the point and friendly - our waiter didn't want to be there and was the only negative of the whole meal - since we sat at the sushi bar it didn't really matter since the sushi chef was who we talked to most of the time - the waiter did get the sake right (tasty) so a little redemption Fresh to deth - price is what you expect from something like this - I WILL BE BACK

Great Sushi in a Picturesque Location

By Scott A |

Just great fresh sushi! Everyone in my party found the sushi amazing! The Magma roll was a highlight and reorder, although the crunchy roll was a winner as well. Execution even on the everyday California rolls was above par. Service was a little slow, but hey, it was a Saturday night and they were busy. A little more attention and it would have been a five, but I will DEFINITELY return!

I love I Love Sushi!

By Roni1107 |

Friendly staff, great sushi and service. I am from out of town and always stop here when I visit the Lake Union area

Excellent and fresh

By Nagambley |

It was great to find this low-key, waterfront restaurant with great food and great service. Kyle, our waiter was attentive and efficient. We had the platters of fresh nigiri, which were beautiful and delicious!

OK Lunch

By Sid R |

Went for lunch. It's good food, though not a particularly great value. Tempura lunch was tasty, and the crab salad was really good, though you must order the "extra crab" for another $2.50 in order to have enough to make a lunch.

Was Hungry and this place was a great Surprise

By Alextuba |

Was hungry and walking around found this place. Waiter was nice and recommended me couple shrimp rolls, with a cold beer. Think it's a little bit expensive, but is a very nice place where you can have a really good time with great sushi rolls!

Very good

By LSMS |

Everything we ate was delicious although agree with an earlier reviewer on the American versions. Great food though, good price we thought and super convenient for guest staying at the Silver Cloud across the road.

My first impression of sushi is- WOW!

By Flying_Little_Lion |

I Love Sushi! Thanks to I Love Sushi, I love sushi! It was my first try, and with a LITTLE wasabi, it was extremely tasty! Our waiter checked on us every 5 minutes to see if we needed anything!

Dine In Only = no leftovers allowed

By Companion80118 |

We dined in and I️ filled up. Per usual restaurant routine, I️ requested a to-go box and was informed that my roll was marked “Dine In Only” and I️ therefore could not take it out of the restaurant. This was ONLY indicated before with “Dine In Only” on the menu. I️ am dining in (not take out or delivery) so, I️ thought, good I️ can order it. I️ am extremely disappointed because it is an awful waste of money. The waitress offered to let me speak with the manager. Ok. He came over and immediately started talking at me, not allowing me to share my issue with him at all. As I️ was responding, he interrupted me multiple times. No flexibility, no care whatsoever, refused to remove the almost completely uneaten roll from our bill. The food is good, but this rule is not clearly defined whatsoever.

Amazing food!! The best salmon sashimi

By Chetede |

The restaurant has a great outside area where you can sit and enjoy a nice sunny day (in summer )) salmon sashimi is the best! Service is great as well. Would definitely recommend going there!

Great variety of fresh sushi

By Sylvain D |

Nice relaxed atmosphere and excellent sushi at reasonable prices. Try some of their specialty rolls.

Happy Birthday To Me!!

By Steven T |

I Love Sushi has been a Seattle sushi institution for over 3 decades (almost 4 decades!). It’s a place with a location that can’t be beat, literally on the shore of Lake Union. It may not be as coveted as Kappo Tamura, Kashiba, Wataru or Sushi By Scratch, however, it can hold it’s own when it comes to traditional Edomae nigiri sushi. For my 60th birthday I decided to get their VIP platter to go. I was only able to eat 30 pieces of nigiri for my birthday dindin. The rest I will have for lunch tomorrow. Dollar per dollar you really can’t beat I Love Sushi for quality sushi. Oishi!!

Great location, great view and great food, a little on the pricey side, so go for a special occasion!

By beckstravelin7 |

Great location, great view and great food, a little on the pricey side, so go for a special occasion!

Such fast service

By Maddie Brown |

Our order came in 29 minutes! And we're all the way in u district, that's faster than pizza. Boyfriend said the chicken teriyaki was great. The snow crab salad was good, the miso soup was amazing, the edamame lacked a little flavor, and the salmon sashimi was fat and very fresh. Not the cheapest, but the delivery was far and the dinner was great.

fresh and good

Right on the marina with good drinks and great happy hour menu. We eat here every time we come to Seattle.

Our Annual Christmas Day Dinner.....

By islandjavaguy |

For many years, my spouse and I have travelled to Seattle every Christmas, for 4 glorious days in the city. Since our families are two states away, this has become an annual ritual for us, and one that we look forward to every year. One of the dilemmas of Christmas in the City, or almost anywhere, is trying to find a resaturant open on Christmas day. And the hotel restaurants are all about holiday buffets that cost way too much, and offer more traditional fare. Having eaten there before, this year we went back to "I Love Sushi" at the sout end of Lake Union. The food was, and is consistently really good, and I am something of a sushi snob, having grown up eating Japanese food in San Francisco in the 50's and 60's. My litmus test for any new sushi place we visit is always an order of Maguro (tuna). The quality and freshness of the fish and the quality of the rice is uber-important, and is very easy to define with an order of Maguro! The Tuna at I Love Sushi, was impeccable. A hint of the taste of the sea, with the meaty buttery-ness of a fine steak. I Love Sushi NEVER fails to get it right. Last night I had a starter of mushroom miso soup, wonderful and comforting, and a a mixed seeweed salad, ice cold, tangy, and refreshing. I followed that with a Dragon roll, essentially a combination of all my favorite foods! Sticky rice, Unagi (grilled eel), Tobiko (flying fish roe) in rice, and all in an avocado/ Nori wrapping. Outstanding! And best of all was that on Christmas Day at 5 pm, the place was hopping! Not a table to be had, by the time we left at 6:30pm.

Tasty food at I Love Sushi

By Podolano |

I was there in May for dinner with a Japanese business colleague (it was his recommendation) and I found it as a very pleasant, tasty and nice place. Right on Lake Union, one can also pick up a table outside, if wished. The menu options are large and my colleague suggested us ordering a Special Sushi entree, which involved around 30 pieces of well-crafted and unique fish sushi. Included were halibuts, 3 or 4 types of salmon, fat tuna, and a lot of other fishes I sincerely don´t recall, but which were delicious! It did not leave enough room for dessert but it´s a place I´d love to come back and fully recommend it for someone who wishes to have a fine Japanese food dining experience.

amazing sushi

By Kernandlaura |

I visited with my sisters, one of which is a regular diner. We ate at the bar right in front of where they make the sushi and ate what they recommended. It was all fresh and delicious! Can't go wrong if you like sushi!

Great sushi place

By ppts |

Honestly, I did not expect too much from this place based on some previous reviews, but this is a nice sushi restaurant. Reasonably priced with nice fresh fish. Plenty of options for those who are vegetarian and gluten-free (clearly marked on the menu). The chef omakase selections were excellent. Overall, enjoyed this restaurant very much.

My favorite sushi

By Lynn F |

When I worked in Seattle I ate here ALOT. Even now when I go the chef still knows me . I concidered myself a sushi snob and have eaten in some of the top sushi restaurants. I know the name isn't something that sounds elite but the service and food is amazing.

Very good, great lunch menu, nicely priced

By BArtigue |

This is a nice sushi restaurant located in the harbor in Lake Union. The sushi and bento box lunch is excellent and well priced. The fish is extremely fish and everything was quite good. We ate there twice on our trip and the only complaint is the seating on the far side of the bar isn't so nice. Will definitely go back.

Great sushi

By alan s |

Excellent sushi. Located on Lake Union across the street from Residence Inn by Marriott. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Continues to amaze me even after 15 years...

By Chugamos8 |

Today I had the best sushi and sashimi meal I've had in my life. Kudos to the sushi chef. After discovering this place over 15 years ago, I always make it a point to visit every time I'm in the Seattle area, for work or fun. The quality and freshness of the sushi has always been excellent. However, today, they outdid themselves. I typically have the sushi and sashimi sampler as the sushi chef usually puts all the specials and fresh fish they have coming from Japan and Spain. Today was quite exceptional as it included 3 kinds of toro, 2 kinds of salmon and 2 kinds of giant clam as well as excellent Uni. I was just enjoying every bite as I finished off my plate. Don't be deceived by the pedestrian name, but I Love Sushi is the definitely the place for folks who love sushi. Take it from me, as I haven't found anything better in my travels across North America and Asia for the price. I'll probably be coming back here for the next 15 years...

Quality sushi but service issues

By LLori |

We have eaten I Love Sushi countless times- eat in (, carry out, and delivery. There can be issues for each variation. Park in a marked spot otherwise you risk a ticket. Many city restaurants don't have free parking. There are 8 free spots for parking, there are well placed signs to alert you even as you walk in. The restaurant has several signs to remind you. Free parking (holiday or otherwise) is for the street, not the lot which also serves other Lake Union businesses. With the Mercer Mess construction has wrapped up, the volume has returned to the restaurant. Fridays, holidays, and other busy times should be avoided. You will wait much longer for your food than normal. The trade off is that you know that the volume ensures that the sushi is fresh, unlike other sushi restaurants where we have gotten sick from less-than fish. Similarly, carry out can be dicey during peak times. We went kayaking one Saturday prior to Mother's Day, so opted for carry out rather than sit in our wet clothes. What went from a quote of 25 minutes went to OVER AN HOUR of waiting. During that length of time, I saw families of 15 trying to walk in for a table and several delivery companies waiting for their orders. Chaos. No apologies for the misquote on preparation time, either. You can follow the same rules for ordering delivery- avoid Fridays, avoid Saturdays and holidays, unless you are *flexible* on the delivery time. Having forgotten the Mother's Day fiasco, I ordered delivery through Eat24 last night. A quote from 45-60 minutes went to nearly 90 minutes. They called to let us know that the delivery was running late and to apologize. They don't comp for anything when they are late though. They just give you a card for "free edamame", which is what you'd get anyways if you order from their website. There are several websites offering I Love Sushi delivery, which appears to be confusing for the restaurant. They don't accept direct calls for delivery and are often too busy to handle in-person orders. They clearly haven't hired enough staff to deal with peak demand, nor do they offer any comps for when service slips. The main reason why we stick to I Love Sushi over the years of dine in, carry out, large sushi platter orders, etc. is due to the fish quality. Service has not kept up.

disappointed

By mtnmanlives |

We had high expectations being close to a mecca for fresh fish, in Seattle. Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed by the quality. Other than a few exceptions, the fish was not very tasty or fresh.. the hamachi actually had a fishy smell, which is a big no no for sushi places. The rolls we had looked very nice, but lacked any real flavor or originality. We east sushi about once a week, in places that is a real effort to get fish into, and I have to say it was mostly better than here. Prices were a little high, but not outrageous. If the food was better, it probably would not be an issue. Service was good... and the place, although a little dated, had a somewhat cozy feel to it. Unfortunately, I can not recommend this place. The parking lot is a pay lot, as is everything in Seattle, but there is a sign near the door that states they have a few free parking spots available somewhere.

Still as good as before

Went for a quick dinner and really enjoyed their special "Extra-Fatty Tuna". It is my favorite place for long time and their fresh fish will not disappoint.

Authentic sushi and japanese food in general

By Hung T |

We went to Japan last year and were craving something authentic. So we came here to meet up with some friends. It was pretty hard to find (especially in the dark and construction) but we were delighted because the restaurants had real japanese chefs. Besides from the sushi, I got soba noddles with a cold dipping sauce (just like from japan). I loved it.

Great food!

By Plymouthcrocks |

Wonderful food and lovely staff. Very helpful with choices and decisions. Would definitely eat there again.

Terrific sushi and service

By TimeTravellr |

I ate hear for lunch one weekday. Sushi was absolutely terrific. Rice was a bit less sticky than I am used to, but that is a niggling comment. Seafood was generously portioned and very tasty. Service was pleasant and efficient. I wish I had eaten there more than once!

Great ambience and terrific tempura and sushi too

By Edith W |

Marina and boat views, delicious meal and friendly, excellent service is part of the cozy charm of this place.

Great sushi

Exceptional fresh fish. Authentic Japanese, not just California rolls. Pleasant setting on Lake Union.

Really good

By cameron h |

Having arrived from australia that morning, after an afternoon nap,we headed out in search of a tasty meal. We found it. You van sit indoors or outdoors, and if you are outdoors you can watch the lake. We got a variety of dishes to share, and all were fantastic! The service was friendly and efficient. I may go again if i have time whilst in seattle. We got sashimi and other dishes. All were brilliant.

Amazing fresh poke with a beautiful view

By Tina P |

This is a great restaurant. the food tastes fresh and is prepared just the way it should be. Service is friendly and they were responsive to getting us a tyable even without reservations during their lunch rush. i had the poke lunch and am so very happy with it. Good quantity and lots of flavors on the plate.

Great Sushi

We made a reservation for 6 and they seated us right away when we arrived. The service was great and the sushi was outstanding.

Great sushi, lots of options, beautiful view

Sushi was great - just too many options to choose from! I ended up going with some of the specials and they were delicious. The location is great - right on the pier with a great view of the space needle.

Our favorite sushi restaurant in Seattle. It doesn't matter which of the locations you eat at, it is always good.

Great sushi, great service, great venue

By SeattleDoc2010 |

I have been to I love sushi many times and I have never been disappointed. Great food. Great service. And a beautiful view by the marina. My favorite sushi restaurant in Seattle. It is a bit pricey, but worth it I think.

Delicious Sushi right on Lake Union

By NataleeTravelBug |

Great variety of sushi to choose from! It is super fresh tasting, which it better be since it's right on Lake Union! The sashimi roll was one of my favorites that I ordered. It is wrapped in cucumber and is very fresh tasting, I definitely suggest ordering it! Overall great ambience, nice waitress and a wonderful view of Lake Union with the Space Needle in the distance!

Im no sushi expert but this was great

By Erik J |

My fianceé and I had the last meal of our vacation here, and it was a great way to spend it. I thought it was all very traditional, no funky crazy combos like some places will do. Very fresh, very clean, very courteous.

Awful Service!

By Susan H |

Luckily I have been here MANY times over the years; otherwise I would not return. We visited on a Groupon deal which was great! I loved the selection! Our server, YoungJae, was not very attentive at all. I had to ask for a drink rather than be asked what I would like. We only had paper napkins when everyone else had cloth. We asked for cloth but never got them. It was like our table had only been half set. We waited and waited to order a couple of extra pieces of our favorite sushi, even-though we told him we would be ordering more before we got our dessert. The establishment was not busy, so I am even more irritated by the lousy service. Hope it improves or I won't return!

Very cheap restaurant. Giving customer wrong info to get parking ticket!!

By 808lauren851 |

This is a very cheap restaurant. They only offer 8 parking spots for customers. I went to eat with my family tonight (New Year Day). I couldn't find any spot saying "I Love Sushi" so I went inside of the restaurant to verify if I need to pay for the parking. Someone behind the sushi bar told me that "Today is a holiday. You don't need to pay." I believed him! After finishing my meal, I found a parking ticket on my windshield :( I took the ticket back to the restaurant then the person who gave me wrong info was not willing to admit that he said such thing. So I am stuck with a $43 parking ticket for having a dinner. Not offering parking to customers is bad enough. Giving a customer wrong info to let her getting a parking ticket is probably the worst thing a restaurant can do. Totally ruined our night!

Pleasantly Surprised

By jaisail |

After reading the reviews, we decided to try this establishment. We loved it. We were able to make our reservation on line and we were able to sit outside. Peter was our waiter and he was absolutely amazing. I love how the menu had GF next to the items that I could eat and Peter was able to get a salad appetizer that I could also enjoy. The wine selection was wonderful as well. We talked about going back for dinner the following night but with only two nights in Seattle we decided to go somewhere else. I would highly recommended I Love Sushi. Hopefully when we come back we will eat here again.

Sushi is sushi

By adg-77700 |

I'll begin with location, which is not the best. The restaurant has a limited number of tables, some being near the window giving the open view of the lake and marina. And the best part is the food which is so delicious that you'll want to come again.

You Will Love Sushi Here Too!

By Ronna F |

This place was set in a strip mall on Lake Union. There wasn't much of a view but the fresh sushi and sashimi were terrific!. Their spicy tuna mango roll was out of this world! Friendly staff too.

Great Value 5 Course Fixed Price Dinner

By Bread69 |

We use our groupon promotion to try the 5 course fixed price dinner here. The dinner is of good quality and high value. There were 3 appetizers, ours were Japanese squid salad, grill teriyaki salmon and sashimi plate, the main course was deluxe sushi plate with miso soup, and dessert was mango pudding. We have the experience.

Very nice

By reelriot |

I went to get take out meal as the hotel said they did not deliver- but they do. The sashimi came with an ice pak to keep it cold and the soup was warm and in a separate bag. A bit pricey but pretty good.

Wonderful meal for birthday celebration

By Cantergrovegal |

We stayed at a hotel nearby and needed to get in before a Friday night show. They got us in without a reservation and served us expediently. We had some who are sushi lovers and others who are more "American" in food choices. Everyone loved what they got. My daughter and her boyfriend got a sushi combo and loved it all - the fish looked wonderful and was very fresh. The table we had was in the corner so it wasn't the best location in the restaurant but that wasn't a deal breaker.

Just Amazing!

By Dr.TMac |

This was possibly the best sushi I've ever had. Everything was exceptionally fresh and beautifully prepared. The service was also very professional and extremely quick.

I Love Sashimi at I Love Sushi

By norton172 |

The maguro (tuna) sashimi was very fresh and melted in my mouth! I was served by a very knowledgeable sushi chef named "John" who also made me the best Spicy Salmon roll I think I've ever eaten! The atmosphere at the marina on Lake Union made it a pleasant place to relax and enjoy an evening out. I would definitely return here.

Hokka Hokka

By dkk9 |

It's been at least 8 years since eating here. At that time is was a little above fast food take away. Ok if that's what you were looking for, but not for a sushi bar. Understand things may have changed over the past few years, but in the meantime found a place that was much better.

Happy Hour - Go!

By BrokenAlice |

The food and drink here during happy hour is fantastic! I love the tempura the most! Service can be slow but that's only because everything is made fresh for you. Sit at the little bar and watch the sushi masters at their craft, preparing your meal before your eyes. Delicious, fresh, and cheap happy hour prices!

Literally the best sushi I’ve ever had

By Kaela |

Title. This is literally the best sushi I have ever had. Oh my god. You know when you have a great California roll and you’re like oh no this is gonna be really good sushi. Well that happened. Everything was incredible but the Marin roll was …a religious experience. I am so obsessed I’m almost mad at how good it was. Definitely go here if you like sushi! You won’t regret it. Also the GF teriyaki was amazing too.

Overpriced, but decent sushi

By CoolDude2012 |

Nice view over the lake. Decent variety of sushi available, but this place is vastly over-priced. Service fast, and they do home deliveries

It was wonderful

By Mary Ann L |

Hadn’t been in Seattle for years, visiting in South Lake Union area, wanted good sushi (we live in Albuquerque where it is a bit of a challenge...). We were delighted in the location (walking distance from Marriott, lake-side vista (but a little hard to find without google map). The food was among the best sushi we have had anywhere, extensive and varied menu, high quality, great presentation. Especially recommend the Sashimi carpaccio, the Barcelona roll, the Sunshine role with sockeye salmon). But would try and enjoy anything! Can’t wait for another Seattle trip to go back!!!

Fantastic food

By Letha P |

We are picky sushi eaters. We are highly careful where we eat. I checked reviews and most seemed favorable. I did see where takeout was not liked but who has sushi on take out? To me that just seems like asking for trouble. We ordered all of our favorites and some new. The food was awesome. The waitress was kind, and always checking up on us. She's great. The food was yummy! Fresh and delicious. This is one place the sushi is in point. I highly recommend. Bonus being waterfront great view.

Watch a master at work

By James M |

A good friend of mine took me to this restaurant. He had lived and worked in Japan for many years and this is his favorite place in Seattle. We spent an evening catching up and enjoying whatever the Itamae created for us. He was very specific with certain offerings that we only use the sauce he had prepared for that particular creation.

Great sushi place near Lake Union

By Kane82 |

Had decided to have dinner at this restaurant because it was close by to our hotel (Silver Cloud Inn). This restaurant is located across the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center & right next to Lake Union. There is in/outdoor sitting. The food was absolutely delicious. My daughter had the sashimi platter & not only did the presentation look great, the fish was very fresh. The restaurant was a little noisy because of the many patrons there but this did not bother us. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you love sushi/sashimi or just enjoy Japanese food.

fresh melt-in-your-mouth sushi

By Desaree619 |

We decided to go to I Love Sushi because it was within walking distance of our hotel and we love sushi. We arrived as a group of three and were seated right away though it was quite a full house. Our waitress, whose name I didn't catch, was very nice and knowledgeable when we picked her brain on what we, as out of towners, should try. We decided on an appetizer of Poke salad, followed by "Omakase" nigiri and sashimi, with at least half of the fish brought out to us being things we'd never tried, sushi tempura roll, and super rainbow roll. Everything we tried was absolutely amazing: the cuts of fish presented to us just melted in our mouths and the "new" fish was interesting and delightful (even the shrimp heads!). I can't say anything of the view as we went at night, but the overall experience was great. The only thing that could have been a little better was the 90s music (which, I like, don't get me wrong, but there is a time and place) and the timing of our food (we waited quite a while for our appetizer and then didn't have much time to finish it before our main dish came out). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the Lake Union area.

Great sushi deliver at your door

By Steve Lewis |

I randomly selected this sushi place. Their menu is large enough to accommodate many tastes. The bento box was delicious and other sushi were also very fresh The food was delivered on time

Great sushi, busy spot on the east side of Lake Union.

By Alexander M |

Very taste and nice menu choices. Quite the busy spot for the hotels on the east side of Union Lake. Was nice to walk to and from hotel.

Go here!!

By Gambelguy |

I've eaten sushi around the world including in some of the best sushi restaurants in Japan and Korea. This place is amazing. The sushi is prepared perfectly and the flavors and quality are the best. We were a group of 10 and no one went away unhappy. The service was very attentive, professional and friendly. This is the place to go in Seattle for sushi.

Amazing sushi-despite the silly name :)

By TaraCNash |

I took my daughter there after we saw Swan Lake at McCaw hall. The sushi chef was so sweet to my daughter and made all kinds of special dishes for her. And I'm pretty easy-I only eat sashimi. The quality of the fish was awesome. I'm not sure I have the date right, but I know I'm right about the food!

Quick, good, and fresh

By PensiveFrog |

This is a great sushi joint for lunch, they have a number of lunch specials in the $10-16 range. The specials come with delicious miso soup and hot tea, and most of the tables have a good view of the sushi prep area. Daily specials are written on a whiteboard, but if you're a little intimidated by sushi, it's OK to just order off the extensive menu. The staff are super friendly, and this place is always busy at lunchtime so go before noon!

Yum!

By Coloradoav |

We had five people and it took a while to get a table... Was worth it! The crab miso is delicious! Great sushi at a good price and nice atmosphere! Get the hairy salmon role! Just.. Yum!

Good Sushi and Great Service

By marvtv |

Had lunch and dinner there for business. Food was good and service was very good. Would recommend for anyone who wants a nice sushi dinner but not a huge bill.

Food poisoning and terrible service

By kartogis |

This sushi house, like many others, suffers from the ½ & ½ disease. Food is ok and the service sucks. Completely inconsiderate wait staff, made several mistakes without much acknowledgement to us, the guests. 3 stars for that bad experience. Meanwhile, nigiri sushi is overpriced in general. I will probably not come here again. Third day Update: Terrible food poisoning from this place. My daughter and I were sick for full 48 hrs. had to go to ER. NEVER coming here!

The Real Deal

By Imayachtman |

If you love sushi then this place is a must. I go to the Bellvue location a realy like the small but packed restaurant. Sit at the Sushi bar and watch the action its truely amazing ans food isn't to shabby. Best of the Best!!

Great quality, thoughtful service

By _landowm |

I did a takeout order of Chirashi, and was quite happy with what I got. They thoughtfully had a small ice pack in the paper bag with the sashimi, and the miso soup was stored and bagged separately. I am not a connoisseur, but nothing was off and the fish was firm and tasty.

Great selection, really fresh and all and all, a decent value

By sharonincolorado |

My local friend Bruce brought us here because the sushi is solid. It's a large place (by sushi bar standards) that is obviously very popular. The dining room is pretty dark - unlike most sushi places I've been to - with a view of the boats on Lake Union. They have beautiful fish and I finally got to try a few things I've never eaten: monkfish liver (nice, reminiscent of pate but the texture is different) and abalone (weird texture, kind of crunchy and I prefer it cooked). This quality of sushi doesn't come cheap but the bill wasn't crazy. Not budget but a good value for great fish.

Great variety

By Audrey L |

I ordered the Mt Fuji entree. The selection was diverse and the quality was excellent. Service was great

casual waterfront sushi place

By brancusirocks |

Although the chef is from Japan there are too many American inventions on the menu for it to be called authentic, but the lunchtime sets are impressive value at $15 and generously served. The miso soup was good and not out of a packet for a change, and the fatty tuna sashimi was a rare treat.

Great sushi !

By John L |

The sushi from I Live Sushi is really a step above other Asian restaurants that offer sushi along with other dishes. So much more for your money (although it is a bit pricey). Only negative was the very slow delivery time.

quick sushi

By travelnerdy |

could not find another sushi place - if you are starving for sushi , it's ok there is not a lot more to say

Great sushi on Lake Union

By happpycamper |

This is our second visit to I love Sushi, and both times we were very happy with the friendly service, excellent food and atmosphere. We sat at the fish bar and could watch the preparation and see how fresh the fish is. We had the fatty tuna sushi and a bento box and both were fresh and excellent. My husband had the pear saki that was also very good. My only complaint is the extensive menu and trying to narrow down choices, everything sounded good.

An Old Friend

By JasonCharlesBourne |

I lived in Seattle for most of 1997 while I was consulting for a client. During that time, I fell in love with the Seattle area and its culinary delights. I Love Sushi was my top choice for sushi all of the time. I probably ate there 50+ times over the year I was there. So, I was naturally surprised to see after nearly 20 years that this restaurant is still one of the best sushi restaurants in Seattle. I stopped in for dinner on a short business trip, and the food was amazing. The fresh salmon sushi, o-toro sashimi, yellowtail & scallion (negihama) handroll and the salmon skin handrolls were the absolute highlights. The fish is of the highest quality. The restaurant itself is a bit dated, but it overlooks Lake Union which is spectacular. If you love sushi and don't care about all of the image crap you get with really expensive places to be seen, I Love Sushi is for you. This is a first class, 5-star sushi place with food that is second to none. In the great words of the Dos Equis beer guy.....I don't get to Seattle very often, but when I do, I prefer I Love Sushi.

We hit the best day for fresh sushi, even the tuna that's not our regular item

By Travel2Food |

We arrived at 6pm on a Saturday, early dinner for 5, only a few tables are seated. Service was excellent, willing to accommodate our seating request. The whole shebang came out with mouthwatering delectable. We over ordered, but no matter, we were hungry. A couple plate selections have tuna pieces, tuna usually is bland for us, but this time it melted in your mouth, and it wasn't toro. We got lucky with this batch. Sushi rice was a bit brownish, we think it was brown vinegar, forgot to ask, but this brought out the fish flavor and went well with the rice. Though, this was not our first time here, this time definitely will call us back for the same experience, hopefully.... Until then, keep up the great service and the fresh fish.

Great sushi and good service

By Dee E |

The sushi here is excellent and there were a few options for people who do not like sushi however few. Could use more parking specifically for the restaurant as the rest is metered.

Fantastic

By myklrl |

Went here for lunch and was very impressed: reasonable prices, fast friendly service, a great atmosphere overlooking Lake Union, and last but certainly not least of all, wonderful fresh sushi. Will definitely return!

Don't go Hungry

By Chuck C |

If you are very hungry and yearning for a hearty meal- this is not the place. If you love fresh sushi and want the atmosphere (other than the music which was mostly comprised of dead pop stars), then this is just the ticket. The drinks are expensive and limited, the menu is vast in sushiness- not much else. Unless you are prepared to order numerous rolls of sushi, and spend a royal flush for raw fish, you won't be satiated either. Good diet spot for those of us needing to drop a few pounds. I had the chocolate lava desert and it WAS very good, small but good.

Sushi cannot be better than this (at this price point. Lol)

By Steven U |

i went here for lunch with my family, and they offer lunch specials with prices around 15 dollars. Sample: would be SPECIAL OF THE DAY BENTO BOX. Or Udon Noodle Soup with Shrimp empura and a side of sushi roll. The california roll was siimply filled with delicious crab meat, the fishes were so fresh! a great dish to try would also be Geoduck cooked in butter. I've always had geoduck sashimi, i did not know that they can be this tasty when cooked. It was sweet and delicious! If you're on the fence about going to this place or not, just go. (especially if it's during lunch time). I don't hand out my 5s unless the place really deserves it. Service is great. Food is Great. Price is Great.

Great sushi, gluten-free options

By wrathchild |

wow, really great sushi! super fresh, lots of veggie options, plus they carry gluten-free tamari for us gluten-freebies. and happy hour? huge $4 rolls! i was stuffed for $12! the service is prompt, friendly and my water was never empty. i wish it was closer to home, but for now it's a great happy hour locale.

The Best!! We Drive an Hour+ For Dinner Here!

By Susan H |

This is my husband's favorite place for sushi! The service is always outstanding and the food very fresh! We usually sit at the sushi bar where we get our fill of sushi! This restaurant is located on Lake Union with a great view of the Space Needle!

Wonderful rolls, but the drinks need some work

By vikitorisedona |

Excellent sushi and lots of diverse rolls. Menu has choices for those who want cooked fish and lots of specials each night. The drinks menu needs work. I sent back the Mandarin Martini. The raw orange rind taste was not a compliment to the alcohol, very acrid.

Best sushi in Seattle

Genmaicha with Matcha Tea

By FoodandTea_Lover |

This was my first time eating here. As a Tea Sommelier in training, I was especially happy to be served Genmaicha with Matcha tea with my meal. It was served in a large cast-iron teapot which was a nice touch. There were 6 of us going there after work. 3 of us were Canadians (me from Ottawa and the other two from Montreal). The other 3 were from Seattle. I recognized the tea immediately and had a great time telling my co-workers the Genmaicha tea origin story. The young lady who served us really knew her stuff. She is a vegetarian and was able to make suggestions for the 3 who preferred to stick to vegetarian that night. I was impressed by the texture and taste of everything. Everything was fresh and the presentation was beautiful. The eel was a specialty that night. I did not try it but everyone who did said it was delicious. I hope to eat there next time I am back in Seattle.

One Of Our Favorite Places!

By Susan H |

We have been here many times and we are never disappointed. The food is amazing! We had a Groupon for a meal for 2 and it was very good and the price for 2 ($48) was good too. The meal came with miso soup, 3 appetizers composed of roasted-garlic calamari salad, deep-fried chilean sea bass, and sashimi. This is followed by three pieces of california rolls and seven nigiri, each made with one of the following: tuna, king salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, mackerel, scallop, and salmon roe. This is followed by dessert. - fresh made mango pudding with fruit. Of course being the sushi lovers we are we did add a few extra pieces including one of the daily specials - live uni fresh out of the shell! The only disappointment we had with our dinner was the service. Our waiter didn't do the best at attending to out needs. We ordered drinks and he forgot them, and we had to ask for refills. Usually we eat at the sushi bar and the service is A+! We will return!

Was the best in Seattle...

By Heather R |

Was the best in Seattle; now new ownership has affected the food and the service...

excellent sushi and wonderful lunch

By Patti4709 |

Four of us had lunch here on a beautiful day - and the sushi was fresh and delicious... we enjoyed chirashi, and a good selection of nigiri sushi and some interesting rolls - really good combinations in a lovely setting. Go here for fresh sushi and a delicious meal. Only thing that is hard to take is the name of the restaurant.

Decent food

By Dave M |

Decent sushi joint with decent prices. Came in here a large group and they accommodated us quickly. No complaints with the service, but there are definitely better sushi places in Seattle.

Nice food, nice view

By rindradjaja |

We went to I Love Sushi for a family dinner. The sushi is nice. We ordered California Roll, Crunchy Roll, Rainbow Roll, among others. They all taste good. The restaurant is located at Lake Union, and the view is very nice. It is within very close distance from Silver Cloud Inn (where we stayed), only a 3-minute walking distance.

Lovely location

By Sydel5 |

We had dinner here after a lovely day touring wineries. Just across the street from our hotel on Union lake. I enjoyed vegetarian bento box. Everything was fresh and tasted wonderful. My husband had a seafood bento, and stated everything was well prepared, and very tasty. The service was prompted and friendly, as well as helpful

Awesome sushi, great to watch sushi chef!

By SteveSzi |

This restaurant has incredibly fresh and very authentic Sushi, along with other Japanese food. Bento boxes are great with lots of food. A definite GO on the East Side

Weak but cheap

By SeattleMan |

This is not for sushi lovers unless budgetary constraints are great and you are desperate for their myriad offerings.

Creative and fresh

By EatDrinkEnjoy |

This place always has very fresh fish and the sushi menu has some really wonderful and creative rolls. Truly, if you want to try some sushi with some bling this is the place. They also have an extensive sake menu but if that is not your thing they also have some fun and creative cocktails.

Stay FAR AWAY from this place!!

By Jason R |

The food was awful—fish tasted fishy (never a good sign), and the service was painfully slow. The kicker? We came out after dinner to find our vehicle had been towed—despite paying for parking. When we raised concerns, management was dismissive and unhelpful. 🤯🤯 We’re now out $600 for a tow bill plus one of the worst sushi experiences we’ve ever had. It’s clear this place is cutting corners, doesn’t value their customers, and honestly, it’s only a matter of time before they’re gone for good. If you actually care about good sushi, head two minutes down the road to Sushi Kappo Tamura on Eastlake. Night-and-day difference—quality fish, attentive staff, and no surprises when you get back to your car. “I love sushi,” but I will never return here. You’ve been warned.

the best sushi i;ve had...

By Divya K |

the best sushi i;ve had with nice views of lake union marina

I love sushi

By Charity T |

Ok- let's be clear: this is "I LOVE sushi", not "I HEART Sushi" and there are at least 2 I Love Sushi locations. We accidentally walked into "I heart Sushi" downtown, they clarified that we were at the wrong sushi place, so we then drove all the way out (in rush hour traffic- which is no joke in Seattle) to the WRONG location. They told us they didn't have a reservation for us and seated us out on their deck. None of this was their fault- but we were miserable sitting out on that greenhouse-like deck in the sweltering unbelievable heat. I can't believe they seat people out there. Anyways- we ordered their bento boxes and they had wonderful food (at $24 a pop- they better!) and our waitress was as sweet as she could be. All of this to say- good sushi, good service, expensive meal, make sure you sit inside, and make sure you show up at the right location.

Arrived with my 2 grandkids and 3 adults and was greeted very nicely. They were very accommodating and went the extra mile to help make our experience a very good one.

Great place for sushi happy hour

By travelinggypsies |

This is a nice family restaurant on Lake Union near the boat docks. The happy hour on weekdays until 6:00 has great prices on various sushi rolls and plates and a few specials. The prices are reasonable and the service is very good. This has been a mainstay for us, as it is reasonable priced, tasty and close to home.

Fresh!

By Jerry M |

The super rainbow roll was excellent. Chef knows his craft. Beni sake nigiri was spot on. Salmon was very fresh. In Seattle, you must have salmon.

Good sushi

By drdw |

Both setting (marina water front) and food are very good. Service was good too. Recommended sake was pricy (didn’t ask price when ordering).

Best value, excellent sushi

By WASeattleTraveller |

My wife & I have been going to I Love Sushi at Lake Union for many years, and have never been disappointed by the quality & value. By far, the best experience is had at the sushi bar itself (like most sushi restaurants) and omekase is the best way to go from our standpoint. For those unfamiliar with sushi bar ordering, omekase is chef's choice, and is usually gets you the best quality fish and typically avoids the things that may not be great on that particular day. The restaurant sources excellent fish, but like any other natural products, some things are better than others on any given day. Essentially, you are asking the chef to showcase his talent and the selection of fish. You can tell the chef about things which you particularly enjoy, or want to avoid. Each of the different chefs have their own styles, and it is interesting and enjoyable to watch them in action and savor the results. Usually there is a nice variety between simple nigiri to highlight the best quality fish in a simple form, as well as more complex preparations which express the chef's creativity & skill. We like omekase because we feel it lets the chef give you the best he has to offer, rather than just mechanically churn out yet another roll. That being said, their rolls are also very good and generally quite popular amongst other diners. One thing to know is that omekase is essentially a set price, but if you order specific sushi items, they may be separately charged. Even with this, I have found the value to be excellent. We've had many meals here that would have easily cost 2-3x as much at other places. My impression is that if you do not choose to sit at the sushi bar, your experience may be more middle-of-the-road. Like most sushi restaurants, the dining room orders are mainly covered by the more junior chefs. Their cooked items are generally quite good when we've had them, we usually come here for sushi and sashimi specifically. Overall - my favorite sushi place for consistent quality and value - but definitely sit at the sushi bar!

Taste of Sushi

By Nilanthipeiris |

Very delicious. We all enjoyed every bite of the their food. Very fresh. They have lots of varieties. I love their sushi.

Skip this place on a busy night..

By GBfromVancouver |

We walked in this place without a reservation and was told the wait would be half an hour. We came back after half an hour only to find out they made a "reservation" for another half hour later in our name. Then wanted to do take out but after we were handed the menu and wanted to order the take out they said it be another half hour before they'd be able to have the takeout done. Would have been better to tell us that when handing the menu. While waiting we witnessed a very upset customer who had a groupon and this place did not honor his reservation and limited that. The staff did not deal with that in our view in a proper way because the customer got some dumb excuses and got very upset. It did make the wait interesting but also make us realize it be better to walk. We ended up at Duke's Chowder one block further who had a great atmosphere and great food.

Fresh and fast

By Amanda A |

I usually order a delivery from this place and they provide a little ice pack to keep the sushi cold. It arrives quicker than the estimation and you can tell it is freshly made. They do not use a ton of rice so it has a ton of filling with all of the good stuff. You definitely get your money's worth! I will continue ordering and hope to make it in one day for lunch. I would bring friends or coworkers here because the quality is consistent. I can't wait to try more things from their menu too.

Bad sushi in a trashy mobile home-like setting

By SeattleDiner |

The carpet was old and dirty, aesthetically the place looks like the inside of a very old unkempt mobile home. After ordering I went to the restroom to wash my hands. Oh my goodness, the heavy smell of old urine permeated the air and the walls were covered with graffiti such as "if you want to get a ____ ___ call xxx-xxxx". This definitely set the tone as far as what class this restaurant belongs in....think big city Greyhound bus station. The sushi chef was a bit daft, seemed to be daydreaming and unfocused...had to be reminded of what we ordered and what was missing. Then an order of mystery fish appeared - each of us found a fishbone in our sushi - and it was not even ordered...we assumed it was a freebie and perhaps a fish they found that had washed ashore on Lake Union. To our surprise we were charged $11 for the bony unordered fish.

very fresh Sushi

By Bubugala |

We went there last Saturday, very convenient location as we stayed at Residence Inn. I have a 11 pcs sushi while my hubby has a 9pcs, all are very tasteful and fresh, miso soup was wonderful. Service was great (we have a beautiful n always smile waitress) A little bit disappointed with the selection on the menu as we have two young children tagged along : no udon or noodle type of dishes, so we just took a teriyaki chicken for them. They told me it was so so. Probably I can't complaint as the restaurant name already indicated 'Sushi'.

Twice in 7 Days

We went to both the very first restaurant and the waterfront. We're very happy with the food. I like the waterfront restaurant as it has a nice ambience.

I Love This Place!

By Robin A |

I have eaten here many times over the years. The food is always good and fresh, most of their fish selection (for sushi) is good and plenty of choices. Ample portions of fish with your nigiri. Something new for me: I bought a Groupon for Omikase Dinner for 2 ($60 for a $90 value) - it was actually pretty good! I was afraid we wouldn't have enough food but I was wrong. There were 3 courses (all the food is decided for you, because that's what "omikase" is - chef's choice) and a nice variety of sashimi and sushi, a lovely cooked piece of black cod, miso soup, a nice home-made mango pudding for dessert (with bits of mango in it). Very lovely! I'm used to coming here and choosing what I want, so I actually tried some different things because of this special. Their otoro or chutoro (any toro) is not to be missed. Also one of my favorite spider rolls anywhere. Nice selection of sakis. A great place to take a date or hang out with your best friends. Open lunch and dinner. Right on Lake Union, nice ambience, nice view. They have about 6-8 free parking spots in front of the restaurant - plenty of paid parking in the lots as well. Overall, I've always had a great dining experience a this restaurant. Really one of my favorite sushi places to go to.

Very Pleasent

I went here last night after work, it was a quick walk from the hotel I was staying at. I was a bit Concerned from some of the reviews on the service, but I was pleasantly greeted by several employees as I came in and I was quickly seated. The food I ordered tasted very good and I could not finish it all. I had a male server and he was very nice, my extra food was boxed up for me when I was ready to leave. I did not have any issues with service or the food. Was there on 7-5-16

I Love Sushi + takeout = Perfect sunny springtime picnic lunch on Lake Union

Got takeout and 10mins later I'm sitting on a picnic blanket at GasWorks Park on the water eating terrific sushi with a Million $ view! Outstanding & fresh nigiri (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, eel, etc.) and excellent rolls (spider, rosanna, rainbow, seared salmon, etc.) HINT - ask for a side of wasabi aoli! My wife is gluten free & you can request that most items be made gluten free & gluten free soy sauce too. Warning - you can get to the $50 pretty darn fast. But I'm still coming back soon!

Fresh Sushi Cuisine

The place is located near the port. You can sit both indoor and outdoor. You can enjoy the view and sun light during your meal. The reservation is required. The service is good. The taste of the sushi is great and fresh. My friend recommended me this place and i think it's really worth the price. The parking space is very convenience just in front of the restaurant.

Take out

This was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen. We ordered take out from here and the avocado was rotten. Used to be a good place to eat but never again.

I found my favorite sushi ever at this place.

My partner and I only go out occassionally for sushi and we've tried many places. I Love Sushi is on Lake Union with a lovely view of the boats and water. We both got a cocktail which I admit wasn't the best but we don't usually get cocktails either with sushi. We ordered something new and absolutely got hooked. It is called the "super spiker roll" and it is to die for. It is spicy, crunchy, a few different kinds of seafood inside with salmon on the top. They serve it with lots of crunchy topping on the side to dip into. It is now my all time favorite. We usually get the miso and beer with that as well. I would give it 5 stars but they only have 8 free parking spaces otherwise you have to pay. I also noticed a parking guy sitting in his car just ready to ticket or tow someone so be warned. I also reccommend coming early for no wait but if you don't mind the wait the lights outside and the boats are lovely.
