Very good food. Great service. Southern cuisine that is plentiful, innovative yet still familiar, and tasteful. Definitely give this a try!

All the food tastes like smoke. If that’s not your thing, don’t come. We ordered their cauliflower, it was mega spicy, and mixed with big pieces of something else that was not good. We also ordered salads, for which they could not bring a dressing without dairy -only one dressing available, and it contained eggs. I asked if the kitchen would have a little bit of olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and the guy never came back, not even to let us know that wasn’t possible. In the end, we couldn’t enjoy anything.

A fun Saturday brunch at this restaurant. Glad we made reservations. The restaurant was quite busy. Staff were warm and pleasant. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of good stuff on the menu. Cocktails were well made- spicy bloody mary was excellent. We had quiche, chicken & waffles, kale salad w/ chicken and short ribs eggs benedict. All dishes were delicious, well seasoned and not salty. Portions were generous. The chicken tenders were lightly breaded, moist and tasty. Staff checked with us throughout the meal for water/coffee refills, etc. We topped our meal with pecan pie and ice cream. Well worth the extra calories! Enjoyed this hearty brunch. A great place to eat in the Quarry Market area.

I have been so excited to try this place! Music was weird and loud. Definitely not what you’d expect for a Southern restaurant. Service was slow, but with Covid this is expected. My food was partially cold with hot piece of fish on top. The redfish that was actually warm was delicious! We were there over 45 minutes before we finally got our food and the place was not busy. Went back out to our truck and it had been broken into. We will definitely not be back.

The place does a good job of updated traditional style southern cooking. both of the appetizers (hush puppies and fried green tomatoes) were very good. My dining companion was a little bit disappointed with his fish but we both loved the pork chop and all of the side dishes we ordered. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and prompt with service. One big draw back and very distinguishing mark as a chain restaurant....DON'T order the "seasonal fresh pie". We ordered the pecan bourbon pie with ice cream to share and it came out FROZEN. It was so frozen the ice cream wouldn't soften. We called the server back and made her wack at it with a spoon to prove how frozen it was. She took it back and brought us a "heated" piece (I suspect microwave). Please don't advertise something as "fresh" and then serve it frozen.

OMG-I think I could live here and die happily! Wonderful food choices. Our server, Pamela, was wonderful explaining what was what including the bird cage charcuterie service and the Amazing to die for bourbon pecan pie and a French press coffee for a finish. Maybe I should gush because I want to be able to return without a crowd.

We went out to eat celebrate a small thanksgiving meal this past Wednesday evening with my dad because he had to leave back out of town Thursday. It was the first time I had been able to celebrate with my dad in about 10 years or so. He loves southern food so I chose this place. The food and drinks were good but a bit after our food was delivered, we saw these little bugs crawling around our table and near our food. They look like baby roaches. We told mgmt and she said “hmm maybe it’s because you’re near the door.” We were a few tables away from the door but that was an odd excuse considering outside roaches are usually big and there were multiple small bugs crawling around. Mgmt did not care at all and left. It was a strange customer service type of interaction. This whole thing just ruined our experience.

We went on a beautiful evening and opted to sit outside even though we had a reservation for inside. The large outdoor area has great tree canopy and adequate lighting. The menu is adequate for selections. Really though, we selected this restaurant because of the pictures of inside and did like the menu options. They have some good southern comfort food on their options and a full cocktail bar. The food was AWESOME. Our waitress, a transplant from Buffalo, was just great. I am maybe a bit surprised by the total ticket, but the food was just so excellent that, in retrospect, was worth every penny.

I met a friend here for lunch and we sat outside. It was our first time in a long time going to lunch together because of Covid, and we both enjoyed the beautiful trees and outdoor decor that surrounded us. I had the smoked chicken salad sandwich and it was good but a little spicy to me. I gave the other half to my husband (who loves spicy) when I got home and he loved it. My friend had the seafood pasta and raved about how much she liked it. The BBQ chips that came with the sandwich were very spicy. Our waitress was phenomenal. She kept my tea glass full and was always right on it if we needed anything.

This restaurant has recently opened but the staff are all seasoned professionals from around Texas. This is a really cool vibe any time you go. They even have "turntable time" where they actually play records after 3-6PM! You can bring in your own as long as it is not X rated. You know what I mean!! All the food has been wonderful and the selection of craft beers is to be commended. The Tiki Travel Planners tasty tidbit of advice is that if you order the "Crawfish Corn Beignets" expect more of a Hush Puppy not a beignet. Granted, they were delicious it is absolutely not what one would expect of a "Beignet". I have spoken to Ronnie and he said the chef likes this description. Oh well..... This is the ONLY negative I can muster. Everything else has been right on point!! and BTW, the Monte Cristo is to die for!! They also have their own beer, TP Texas Blonde that is awesome!

A twist on southern? Not what we had pictured. The seafood dip was good with homemade greasy salty chips. The winter cocktail was ok but way overpriced. The braised short rib was ok but the big thick asparagus was tough. The Nashville chicken was way too spicy to eat. There was NOT enough pimento cheese on the toast to really get a taste. It was spread so thin. Three of the tiniest, thinnest pickles good taste but only three and TWO tiny pieces of onion. Weird music playing. We tried the place. Next!

Blessed.... San Antonio is blessed that Ida Claire has arrived. The restaurant is lovely and they have an attentive and friendly staff. The food is fresh and delicious. It is Southern Cooking with “worldly” flavors. On our visit we had Pork Chops with Black-Eyed Peas that had a refreshing citrus flavor. We also had the Short Rib with Asiago Potatoes...yum! We ended the night with Cranberry Key Lime pie that had a fantastic crust. San Antonio has a lot of great restaurants ... Ida Claire moves to the top of the list.

I am from Louisiana and my San Antonio friends raved about this restaurant...it is and it isn't cajun, but, it most certainly is delicious! I had the ancient grain bowl with cajun shrimp...thought I was home in New Orleans...so good! My friend has the shrimp and grits...delish! Well spiced food, good portion size and Paige was a fun wait person! She guided us on our choices and we were most pleased....plus they serve a French 75....as good as home!

Our server, Pamela, was exceptional as was the food, presentation, ambiance and genuine care of every team member from front door host to food runner. Excited this restaurant is in the hood.

It was hard to decide what to have as there menu had so many good choices. I had the wood fired redfish it was delicious. My friend had the ribeye and it was good as well. I think we could have had anything on the menu and it would have been delicious.

Absolutely the best southern restaurant I’ve been at !! Food was really good! Although they can work a little harder on how they present the dish, to be at the same level as food quality, presentation is too classic. Service was fantastic! Our sitting space was freezing cold !

We found this restaurant by mistake, but are we glad we did! The 20-minute brunch wait was definitely worth it. I wanted to have the chicken & waffles, but settled on the Low Country Breakfast, which included 2 sunny side up eggs, a BIG ham steak, biscuits and pepper gravy, and fruits. It was delicious! The ham steak was not salty, as they normally are at other restaurants, the pepper gravy was awesome, and the eggs cooked perfectly. My wife enjoyed the Burger & Egg Biscuit, which she loved. My sister-in-law had the Coffee Crumble Pancakes, which I shared, and have to say they were really, really tasty. It was covered in blueberry topping, and were very light. BUT, the star of the show was their coffee, which come in a coffee press for each customer. We'll be back for the chicken and waffles and fried green tomatoes! NOTE: make reservations for a quicker wait.

Every time we come to San Antonio from out of town we enjoy lunch here. Great food and service. Today's server, Taylor, was exceptional. Cheerful, knowledgeable about the menu, and professional. Great job!

A funky-fun atmosphere can only save a place for so long. Even if the food was delish, the service truly was horrible. I mean new level horrible. The level where you think it couldn't get worse, then it does. There was no reason. No "sorry, it was a really busy night", and we got a bill that reflects a quality of food and a level of service to match. Bless their little hearts. Not sure the biscuits will save this place...

Very nice southern themed restaurant in the Alamo Quarry shopping area of San Antonio. We were greeted by our waiter who informed us the food is excellent as Ida Claire lives up to its hype. After dining we certainly, as southern women say, "I declare" the waiter was right. We really enjoyed our brunch meal. Highly recommend ordering the biscuit, fried green tomatoes, and pimento cheese dip appetizers for sharing. Follow it up with your brunch entrees. Ambience was very nice. Easy free parking.

Went on a Friday night and we had reservations. Parking is a nightmare. If we did not have reservations, would have gone elsewhere. Sat outside and it was pleasant. Spicy chicken was spicy and lived up to billing. The sides came out cold. Service was good. Probably not return.

We have hear good reviews from friends about this newly announced restaurant. My husband and I decided to go for an early dinner because we heard reservations were highly suggested and parking was scarce. Booked our table via OpenTable with ease. The location was centrally located with limited parking. The restaurant was very spacious and have an Austin vibe. The staff were friendly. Our waiter was pleasant and gave his recommendations. I ordered the shrimp with Asiago grits and my husband ate the chicken sandwich with an okra on top with a side of seasoned fries. We drank sweet tea and had the chocolate cake for dessert. The best part of the meal was the light, airy chocolate cake. The entrees were lukewarm but ample portions. We were not impressed but would like to give Ida Claire a second chance to see of we caught them on an off day.

Eat here. I recommend eating outside under the pergola facing the street. I'd you come at night all the trees will be lit up, bit if you don't it's okay. I recommend the chicken and waffles and the pork chops.

I really was not impressed. There menu is interesting. The receptionist were not very friendly and did not care if are numbers changed. So we sat outside and watched all the reserved tables not get filled. I don’t believe will be back. Make sure to call with right # of people, and check menu. Good luck. I do have to say are server was excellent Edward made it exceptional. Thx Ed.

Was here on opening-night and the food is nothing short of spectacular. Their menu is loaded with highly seasoned savory and spicy items! Tried numerous appetizers (was here with a large group), all cooked and seasoned to perfection! The deep fried cauliflower is special- it is a must try item, so unique and very tasty- oh, and extremely spicy!! Had a wonderful spicy fried chicken; again, seasoning was amazing, very different from anything you will find anywhere else in San Antonio!! The classic design and casual atmosphere is paired with wonderful attentive service. Will certainly be returning. Very impressive!

The short ribs and gumbo are decent. The chicken sandwich and ding dong cake are where dreams are born. I cannot wait to go back to try more deliciousness!

If I could, I'd give a 4 and a half star! We had some blackfish, seafood pasta and gombo soup. Everything was excellent. Service professional. Also kudos to management for the military discount they offer!

Weeknight family dinner. Made a reservation, but not really needed on an early Thursday evening. Promptly seated upon arrival. Service was great throughout the meal....good southern hospitality! Having eaten at their location in Addison, we had a little insight into what to expect at this latest location. Nice southern menu with some good happy hour (vinyl hour) specials. Everything was pretty good. Gotta get the biscuits! Nashville cauliflower was good, nice heat, but not as hot as the chicken. Monte Cristo sandwich was tasty, but the ham hadn’t quite warmed all the way through...still cold in the middle. Kids enjoyed their chicken and waffles, but they were just a half soft waffle and couple ginormous chicken strips. Highlights are the appetizers and dips. Good mixed drinks, too. Overall, a nice meal and worth a visit.

This was one of the best breakfast’s we have ever had! From the service, the coffee, the food, and the prices.....all great! Get ida’s biscuits that come with the bacon gravy, honey butter, and a homemade jam! The staff was friendly and attentive. The environment is cozy and very welcoming. Give it a try....you won’t be disappointed!

This location has been many restaurants in the past, but none have ever created such a magical and eclectic setting. The staff was over-the-top welcoming and friendly. The service was rapid, attentive, but not intrusive. The food is absolutely amazing and delicious, with a price point that is so low it is almost unbelievable, especially for the quality!!! The Monte Cristo, Nashville Hot Fried Chicken, and Pimento Cheese Dip and Sweet Potato Fries were the evening's favorites. The music was just a bit too loud for a nice conversation and the only reason the rating was not 5 stars.

We had some blackfish, seafood pasta, and gumbo pasta. Wverything was deliecious. Maybe the only complaint we may have is that everyone seemed to have a warmer clothing with them but us.... Well....

BRUNCH. Restaurant was busy. Service was slow but good. Food was very good. Décor was new agey. Would have preferred a low table; we were seated at a high pub style table and that made my legs ache. Overall good experience but I'm not interested in returning.

It seems the menu was trying to be Southern food, but everything we ordered had some sort of "off" flavor or wasn't executed very well. The pickled shrimp would have just been better being traditional shrimp cocktail as the pickling seemed to dry out the shrimp and give it a weird flavor. I ordered the spiced chicken and it had very little flavor and the greens/carrots and potatoes served with it was so heavily salted and so overcooked, the mushy mix was burning my mouth in the first bite. My husband ordered the salmon, and though he said it had decent flavor, the portion was so tiny and not worth the money they were charging for the plate. I expected a basket of biscuits served with our food...seems like that would have been a great Southern touch, but we left very underwhelmed and feeling less than happy with the dinner we just spent way too much money on. This goes on our list of "never again."

I love coming here when in San Antonio. The drink menu is a delight and great food. IC forgotten the name of this watermelon delight. We had the seafood shrimp atmosphere which was easily shared with two. Maybe would be ok for three. I had a small snafu with the oyster poor boy sandwich. Should only eat oysters in R months but I forgot. They were gracious to refund on this item with no problem. Of course we will be back!

Went to brunch yesterday. I paid $45 for an order of French toast, orange juice, coffee, two eggs, 2 biscuits and hashbrowns. To be honest I’m unsure what all the hype is about. Sure it was okay, but nothing more than that.

Great new restaurant featuring Low Country items like shrimp & grits, out of this world fried chicken and waffles, killer biscuits and lots of other options. Great atmosphere with an open kitchen. Open for brunch, lunch and dinner.

There is nothing good to say about this restaurant. It had previously been another restaurant and the outdoor area and the inside looks like it was never cleaned up or redone to accommodate Ida Claire vibe. The food was just okay...absolutely nothing special about it regarding taste or presentation. We waited a ridiculous amount of time until we were served only to discover that the waitress had not listened to what we ordered, and our food had to be returned for further cooking... There were only two of us for breakfast and we were served one item at a time???? I guess they wanted us to have cold eggs and raw bacon!!!! Actually, the worst part of the visit was when we paid with cash. The waitress was gone for a very long time finally returning without my change (coins), which was about 45 cents, explaining that no one in the restaurant had change. She asked me if that was okay, and I said "no" it's not okay for you to short me and keep 45 cents of my money. Eventually she returned to say she couldn't find the 45 cents. No one has the right to keep my money unless I say, please keep the change!!!! I have experienced this "we have no change" in other San Antonio restaurants as well. This is a disgraceful and dishonest practice that should never be tolerated. Needless to say, once I have experienced this in a restaurant, I never return, even if the food was fabulous!

This is a very cool and eclectic restaurant. The setting is unique and beautiful. The food is very good.

If you love French Press coffee and a scratch kitchen, this place is for you. You’ll enjoy freshly cooked breakfast and tasty coffee served by attentive waiters. As for Jose, he’ll take care of you!

I visited this location after going to one of their other locations in January. I ordered the same appetizer and entree because I enjoyed it so much. I had the crawfish beignets (app) and the wood grilled redfish (main course). I added grilled shrimp with the main course. The crawfish beignets were delicious but the redfish did not come out hot. Also, the shrimp were a little tough and were probably overcooked. I was disappointed because I expect better for a $30 entree. Overall the service was excellent, and the menu offers a variety of selections. I will visit again, but hope I have a better experience next time.

Food was alright but that is to be expected of Southern cooking. Definitely more expensive than your normal Southern restaurants. Parking was adequate at the back, service was good, decor was not what you see in their website and atmosphere was definitely not relaxing. They were playing very loud music like they wanted you to hurry up and leave.

I cant vouch for the food: we never got that far and wont ever try again! We had a reservation for a very special occasion for our family. When we arrived, the management had closed due to construction in the bathroom. We would have understood the need to cancel, except the hostess left us a voicemail on our mobile saying we could dine if we didnt need the toilet. When I spoke to the general manager from the parking lot, Instead of an apology or offer of a glass of wine or starter on my next trip ( as most reasonable caring managers would offer) He shifted the blame to us, saying we had missed their call. ( hmm, no message or missed call on the same phone). My dining experience tells me, this inattention to customer service usually translates to poor quality in other aspects of a restaurant's service and food, so we wont be back. Save your dollars for a reliable, good dining experience

Went here for lunch with my BFF. The atmosphere is great, very unique! Was waited on very quickly. I had the redfish in cream sauce and it was delicious! BFF had the chicken salad sandwich and it was huge! Place is a little too pricy for me. The redfish was $23 and that was for the lunch portion. Great place to try. Date: January 3, 2020

The food is absolutely excellent and inspired Southern cuisine. We loved every morsel that came to the table. The music was too loud for us to enjoy any sort of conversation and we didn't quite understand why that was necessary, because everything else was so wonderful, why ruin it with blasting music.
Ida Claire never fails to be wonderful!
Our family has always loved Ida Claire for family celebrations! Our latest visit was to celebrate Mama's 92nd birthday. The service from Roman, the food, the attention to Mama was superb! My only regret was that they were out of the crab cakes and the duck nachos! But we carried on and found equally delicious food. Always such a treat!!
