We experienced some of the best service I've had in a long time at this restaurant. However, for the price, the food was quite disappointing. We arrived on a Saturday night without a reservation and were very grateful to get 2 seats at the bar. Everyone from the hostess, the bar tender, and the servers were incredibly helpful, friendly, and prompt. It made for a wonderful dining experience.....except that the food just wasn't good. If it had been even a little more tasty, this would easily be a 5-star review. My husband ordered pesto pasta with prawns which were overcooked, and I had a mushroom & tenderloin risotto (and how could that NOT be good?!), but it was greatly lacking flavor and salt with the tenderloin slightly overcooked. The bruschetta appetizer was tasteless. This place has so much potential, really sad to write a poor review. But for a dinner that cost $125 for 2 glasses of wine, 1 app, 1 pasta, and 1 risotto, it should have been better.

We've been here a number of times over the years, but it had been several years since our last visit. We were delighted that the quality of the food has only increased with time. The risotto was expertly crafted, and the duck and veal scallopine were phenomenal. Service was perfect and on point. A lovely evening out!

Il Terrazzo Carmine is located in what appears to be an office building, but when you get past the busy bar with a modern fire pit on the sidewalk patio and enter into this charming restaurant, you feel like you are in Tuscany. The wood beams, the iron chandeliers, the tablecloths and floral china all make you feel like you are in someone's family dining room. Each table had a fresh flower in a vase to greet the next diner. The wine menu is extensive. We had the Parmigian Di Melanzane for a starter - eggplant baked with tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella - delicious. The tomato basil soup was perfectly seasoned served piping hot. For the entree, we had the Scaloppine Di Vitello Al Limone & Capperi - oh, so good with just the right amount of lemon and capers. The special of the night was veal with rissoto - the meat was perfectly prepared and so tender - a knife was not needed. We enjoyed this amazing dinner so much - the tastes, the romantic atmosphere, the wine, and couldn't wait for the dessert tray. We had a minor hiccup with our server, but the General Manager, Nick, was quick to rectify the situation and make sure we didn't lose that great vibe that we had enjoyed all evening. Nick is such a great manager and so personable - we only wish that we lived in Seattle to visit this family owned restaurant again and again. We will tell our friends and colleagues to make sure Il Terazzo Carmine is on their lists of "not to be missed" experiences while in Seattle. Thanks, Nick, for such a memorable evening - you are a true professional!

We had the best visit here and enjoyed our meal and evening!! From our welcome upon arrival to the best service from our waiter Joe, the entire evening was perfect. The food and wine were amazing. There really was nothing that wasn't at this level of quality. Well worth the expense for a spectacular evening out or special celebration. Would definitely recommend.

We had lunch. We walked from Pike Market. The entrance is off the lobby of an office building, which was a bit odd, but not problematic with the address in hand. Found out the restaurant has been in the current location for 35 years. We had two of the options of the "specials of the day" menu and calamari off the regular menu. All were really excellent. Service matched the quality of the food. We had a delightful meal and experience. $$-$$$

The setting is remarkable in gentrified Pioneer Square, where you walk through a building to get to the restaurant, so the address is a bit decieving. The food is beyond extraordinary. Let the waiters and captains guide your selection. The wine list is remarkable. Don't be surprised to fine visiting Italian winemakers on their U.S. tour dining or having a wine tasting dinner.

A very classy-looking place in the heart of Pioneer Square. Decided to walk in for dinner, ordered two drinks, Irish Coffee and a glass of wine....$26.00. little steep. We noticed 3 chefs in the exposed kitchen, two with protective hats, one without. Couldn't imagine a long hair not dropping into a dish. Couldn't eat there. We exited post cocktails and visited another dinner house.

We had dinner at Il Terrazzo 2 weeks ago ... The food was absolutely wonderful, as was the service as well ... Reminded us of Italy ... Great location in the Pioneer Square area of Seattle ... Not to be missed

Still the standard for a great meal, old school service and a beautiful lively dining room that you can still hear everyone across a large table. A meal here feels like a special occasion.

I have not had the pleasure of dining at II Terrazzo in about 6 years. The restaurant is still tops on my list. The ambience is wonderful and the service spot on. The pastas are great and well as main courses. This restaurant is a must when I visit Seattle.

Excellent Restaurant and Service. Traditional and delicious food in a pleasant setting. Service and relentless cuisine

It's been quite some time since I last visited this restaurant, principally because I only occasionally come to Seattle (especially during Covid). What a treat it was, then, to have an outstanding experience in all respects. It starts with really easy Valet Parking in the building garage, and a pleasing, warm greeting from the host who honored our reservation on time, leading us to a very private table with no one nearby. Drink orders were taken and delivered promptly (great pours!) along with fresh baked bread and butter that could have been a meal by itself! I thoroughly enjoyed my starter salad (the "Campagnola") with its candied walnuts and wonderful vinaigrette dressing. But that was nothing compared to the extraordinary fresh Alaskan Halibut with very tasty risotto on the side. Fresh fish like it was just off the boat, and perfectly cooked. No room for dessert but I walked out stuffed and very happy with our total experience.

While visiting downtown Seattle in October, 2021, we suddenly craved Italian food for lunch. By luck Trip Advisor, shared Carmine's location which was nearby and though, technically at the end of lunch, we were treated to one of the best lunches we've ever had. The menu was wonderful, the wine a perfect compliment and our waiter was one of the best combinations of funny, knowledgable and professional. We didn't even care about the bill because the experience was that good. This is a must visit!

Our group of six gathered to enjoy Italian food and conversation only to have the experience ruined by the noise of a large party space and other tables too close to ours. The food was good but not inspiring. I do not plan to return again.

I met a business colleague for lunch and neither of us had been here before. I had one of the daily specials, a delicious and well dressed salad with salmon. She had halibut with pasta. We both loved our meals and could easily have licked the plate if we weren't trying to maintain good manners. I definitely recommend this place with Top Notch service and delicious food!

This was one of the best Italian meals we have had in the US. From the appetizer to the deserts all was done well. We were also seated in an inside area with an open wall that felt like a terrace and it really provided a great atmosphere. We had a group of 6 and would definitely return.

We came here for dinner on a weekday & it was busy. We started with the calamari simmered in garlic & tomatoes. A nice change from being fried. We also had the salad special of grilled peach with greens. A couple of us had the dinner special of halibut and squid ink pasta. The halibut was cooked slightly too long but still full of flavour. I enjoyed the pasta. The other diner ordered seafood ravioli which was delish. Seafood was fresh & tasty. We had the key lime pie dessert. We enjoyed it as it was like a cheesecake texture. They really entice you with the dessert tray showing all their tasty desserts. There’s a parkade nearby but you try to park on the street out front. The ambience was perfect on a summer evening. A great venue for special occasions! There’s even outdoor seating. Service was good. Make sure you make reservations.

I had high expectations of this restaurant, as according to Zagat it is the best restaurant in Seattle. I was underwhelmed by its food (safe but lacking punch) and service: they were good, but not memorable, and substandard when compared to some of the great Italians of other American metropoli (e.g. Madeo in Los Angeles, Il Mulino or any of the Batali restaurants in New York) or other classics in the city (e.g. Metropolitan Grill). The wine list was decent (we had a Fèlsina Fontalloro), even though poorly presented (office-printed pages in plastic sleeves, without care for design).

A lovely and romantic Italian bistro. Even though it was a busy night, I never felt rushed. The Lamb chops were perfect and plentiful as was the filet mignon. They also had a nice wine selection and many by the glass. They had an Italian rainbow cake/cookie that was totally amazing with the extra touch of Love scribed on the plate.

Over the years, I have dined at Il Terazzo to celebrate special occasions. Recently we had dinner there with friends -- we especially wanted a relaxed and quiet evening to talk and catch up. il Terazzo did not disappoint. We had a long, leisurely meal and outstanding service. The food and preparation is authentically Italian, and the ambiance reinforces the entire experience. It's just a lovely place to sit and dine. Tables are positioned far enough apart from one another that you can actually have a conversation at your table without having to raise your voice to be heard. There is an excellent wine list, both by the bottle and glass. The complimentary bread is served warm, and is delicious. I love restaurants that serve good bread and are generous with replenishing the bread basket. This is becoming less common these days, and I think it's a shame when even high-end restaurants tag on a few dollars for bread. Il Terrazo is one elegant, classy restaurant. It's worth a trip to Pioneer Square and the valet parking makes it easy to make this your dinner destination.

Nothing bad to say about this excellent and inviting restaurant. It is always a stellar experience. Staff are always welcoming and attentive. Food is consistently wonderful. There is not a bad seat in the house.

We have been on a roll celebrating our anniversary; dear friends took us to this restaurant (the location was a surprise). It was simply a wonderful experience from beginning to end. We were served complimentary hors d' because of a table mix-up when we arrived; a nice gesture and a great assortment of tasty vegetables to begin our meal. Our server, John Green, was just the best! As for food, we all had the same meal (highly unusual but the offerings were too good to pass up): a classic Caesar salad and then fresh baked halibut. Just delicious. Dessert was a shared tiramisu, compliments of the house (an anniversary gesture). It had been awhile since we ate at Il Terrazzo Carmine but we'll have to rectify that in the near future..

We were very pleased with our dinner at Il Terrazzo Carmine. Started with a grilled romaine salad with gorgonzola - delicious! Friends raved about the Pasta with shrimp and Ossobuco and we had some great salmon. Definitely a keeper!

Il Terrazzo Carmine was walking distance to our hotel near Pioneer Square, it had good Trip advisor reviews, so we chose it for dinner. The ambiance is very nice and we felt a bit underdressed in our casual traveling clothes, but it did not seem to matter to anyone else. Our server,Joe W, made us feel welcome to be there and in Seattle. The menu is very nice and the wine list well chosen. We were very pleased with our dishes, or wine and especially our service. Highly recommend.

Beautiful room with spectacular antipasto, great service and the food! Momma Mia! Everything, but everything was outstanding. The setting, in too often ice cold decorated Seattle, was warm and inviting on a late fall evening. Go, you'll have a great time and it is worth ever penny and leave 20% or more for your server. They get it and there is no notice of a mandatory added charge noted on the menu. Would go back in a heartbeat.

This is the right place for a date or for a romantic dinner. Good food but some dishes pretend to be sophisticated and instead, considering the prices, were just average. In the antipasti while “Fricasse di funghi selvaggi” was really tasty, the “Calamari affogati” was not unforgettable. For the entrees the “Scaloppine di Vitello” was not special. Very good customer service.

Had dinner here tonight. What a beautiful, quaint, tastefully done restaurant. Staff and customer service was A+. Very attentive and friendly staff. Just absolutely amazing people!!! I had veg antipasto and the spaghetti with tomato and pine nuts as the main. We shared the red velvet cake for dessert. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting to sample an Italian restaurant in Seattle. Top marks from me!!!

I recently took clients for a celebratory dinner to Carmine's. The service is second to none as is the ambience. The tried and true staple dishes never disappoint...pasta, caprese, veal chop etc. the fish can be over cooked, dry. Nice pour with cocktails! Pricey but can be worth it for a special evening at this iconic establishment.

We enjoyed a dinner with friends this past weekend at Carmine's. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. The service was great. We enjoyed appetizers, wine, dinner and desserts. This is a wonderful spot for a romantic dinner or a large group. Their menu options are great, plenty of choices and all the entrees were fabulous. This is a higher-end Italian restaurant which is great for special occasions.

Had excellent service & our waiter was very educated about the wines. The halibut was delicious!! Pick any dessert, you won’t be disappointed!!

celebrated a special anniversary here … service is outstanding, food amazing. it is now our go to restaurant when visiting Seattle

We enjoy the Carmine's in Bellevue, but hadn't been to the original in Seattle for over 20 years. Wow, it's Awesome! The Caesar salad, the pastas and the veal were simply outstanding. My cioppino was about the best I have ever had -- fresh, perfectly cooked ingredients and delicious broth. Good bread and great wine list. Desserts looked fantastic, but we were stuffed and had to pass.

This is my third visit to llTerrazzo Carmine for my annual birthday celebration with my son and daughter-in-law. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the food and service are top notch. Our waiter, Joseph, was terrific. We all ordered different appetizers which were prosciutto with melon, rigatoni bolognese and roasted lettuce with blue cheese dressing. For entrees We ordered the broiled salmon, halibut special and 2 other specialty pasta dishes. Everything was delicious. Despite being full, we could not resist ordering the tiramisu and profiteroles for dessert. This restaurant should be on your list when visiting Seattle. It is fantastic.

What a wonderful find. Nestled in a developing area of Pioneer Square, Il Terrazzo is a real treat. Attentive, friendly waiters and a really nice manager Nick: you're treated right! Plus the food ain't bad. Nice portions, fresh and very appetizing. My husband started a luscious shrimp bisque and I had a tart salad of fresh greens, walnuts and goat cheese. The main dishes were excellent. I appreciated the smaller portion of pasta they offered. Great for light eaters. All around great night.

Lunch with a friend at this wonderful Italian restaurant was perfect. I had Capellini Di Mare with angel hair pasta tossed with fresh tomatoes, prawns, mussels and clams. It was devine! Wine by the glass was very acceptable and the ambiance was pure elegant Italian. The wait staff wore white jackets with black ties and were the best, knowledgable about the days specials and served the entres in perfect timing. The dessert tray was to swoon over. There is not a view but the restaurant is a great place to share an excellent Italian meal.

We came to celebrate a birthday and were treated like Royalty. The food was incredibly fresh, the service impeccable - who could ask for anything more.

We selected this restaurant because it offered some good vegetarian options, and we were not disappointed. Both vegetarian spouse and carnivore spouse found tasty, well-prepared dishes to please.

Il Terrazzo Carmine is hidden in a larger office building somewhat I would say and it is a small and somewhat intimate feeling restaurant in the Pioneer Square neighborhood of Seattle. We were greeted at the door cheerfully by the welcoming staff which started our meal on a good note, and set the stage for what was to come. The interior has white linens on the tables, floral style plates, and somewhat of a "Italian classic decor" is how I would describe it I guess. There is a nice wood or wooden feeling and you feel at home here. It is a smaller style restaurant but very comfortable in my opinion. When you walk in, to the left of you there is an ice tray, with the catch of the day to entice you and whet your appetite. They have an attentive service staff which is what makes it stand out above regular places in town. The bread waiting for us on our table was tasty, and our appetizers were served by the staff itself onto our plates and the food was absolutely delicious. I chose the shrimp at the recommendation of our waiter. It was jumbo shrimp in marinara sauce and it was served with a caprese salad and as well with oysters on the half shell, all of which I felt were excellent. I noticed that the menu had and extensive wine list of all varieties. There was a well made caesar salad course after our appetizer. My entree was the halibut which was just so excellent. It had a tasty mushroomy garlic light sauce and was with a side of black rice, both very well made I felt. A dessert tray of about six or seven decadent selections were brought to our table to choose from but I didn't have any dessert. I really enjoyed the dining experience and I would return here definitely.

This was our first visit and will, without doubt, be back again and again. The evening started with a friendly welcome greeting from the hostess who immediately showed us to our table. For appetizers, we enjoyed small British Columbia fresh oysters and a delicious shrimp dish served with endless baskets of crusty bread that is to die for. The main courses included seafood ravioli, cannelloni, pasta with fresh tomato sauce with basil, and my husband loved his stuffed pork shop. The food was outstanding. A complimentary birthday tiramisu was enjoyed by all. The ambience is very inviting and almost feels like you're in a private dining room. The restaurant was packed on a Tuesday evening so highly recommend reservations. Enjoy!

My wife and I and friend had an unexpected wonderful lunch. We were in Pioneer Square on other business and we were looking for a nice place to have lunch. We walked into a couple of places but the menu and setting just did not appeal. I remembered Il Terrazzo was just a block or two away - and that I had a wonderful dinner there more than 20 years ago! We thought - let's try it. A great decision from the moment we entered. Immediately I felt like we were transplanted to a nice restaurant in Rome, Milan or Florence. We did not have reservations (they were busy) but they had a table for us and were very gracious. The dining room is very pretty without being overstated. Linen, waiters in white jackets, nice table top- you get the picture. Had a delicious glass of Pinot Grigio very moderately priced. I ordered the pasta dish di mare and it was perfect. It arrived piping hot (not usually done in restaurants) and the seafood appeared to be hand selected. Each mussel was plump, and delicious. It smelled like the sea. Each prawn was large and tasty. The dish was perfectly orchestrated and prepared. My wife had their Portofino Salad (think Salad Nicoise) and our friend had the Crab Ravioli in Lobster sauce. I had tastes of both of theirs and they were great. Service was very gracious, and professional. Just the right balance of attentiveness without being overbearing. And it was so nice to have a pleasant sound level. Not hush hush quiet like a library, but not annoyingly loud with techno music playing and the clatter of dishes. This is a place to go to when you are not in a rush and you have the time to savor and enjoy. You can have a delicious lunch here for about $30 a person. I would expect dinner to be commensurately more. We eat out a lot and I am disappointed with many restaurants. This was running on all cylinders. If you appreciate good food, professional and gracious service, with a romantic ambiance - you will love Il Terrazzo Carmine

With high expectations because of all the great reviews, I went to Il Terrazzo Carmine for lunch just after landing in Seattle. It was mid-afternoon when I got there, so the place was empty save for one table of four people having dessert. I was therefore a bit puzzled by the host's "I'll see where I can seat you" attitude, though I was eventually led to a lovely windowside table in the bar area. I had a small bowl of prawn bisque ($7) to start and an entree salad with albacore tuna ($16). The soup was delicious, with a touch of cream and one perfectly cooked prawn floating in the rich, briny bisque. The salad, though quite large, was an uninspired disappointment. It was just a pile of lettuce with some capers, green beans, olives, and canned tuna, all tossed in a vinaigrette -- I wouldn't even make this at home for myself. I don't think my lunch was expensive given the white-tablecloth dining room and formal service, but it was, nonetheless, an unremarkable experience that did not live up to all the raves.

Excellent restaurant with a great wine selection. Typical Italian menu with a variety of salads, pastas, meats and deserts. You won’t be disappointed.

We were heading to a Monday Night Football Seahawks game and didn’t want to eat typical bar food. We got reservations and we were so happy we did. We had Caesar salad and beautifully prepared halibut and risotto; it was so delicious. The atmosphere is very nice and the service was excellent. We couldn’t resist ordering coffee and dessert; what a treat!

With its stellar reviews and frequent mentions in "Places to Eat In Seattle"-esque lists, Il Terrazzo Carmine had long been on my list of Italian dining options to try in Sea-town. I had a window between flights during one of my last trips, so I decided to venture away from the airport and check it out for myself. The first thing I appreciated when I arrived was the décor. Whoever designed the interior did a fantastic job of blending "rustic Italian villa" with "fine dining." Walls were decorated with beautiful ceramics and paintings, exposed wood beams lent an air of warmth, and the lighting was perfect. The hosts who greeted me were friendly, accommodating regarding my flight schedule, and helpful in storing my carry-on. I'm sure the fact that I had a reservation helped, but they did a fantastic job of making sure that my wait times were minimized. Table service was attentive, professional, friendly and, quite frankly, some of the best service I've had in awhile (which is always refreshing). On to the food. As my time was somewhat limited, I decided to forgo the traditional order of Italian meals and went for two small plates: the ravioli di capriolo (venison ravioli) and the fettucine al pesto con gamberi (fettucine with pesto and prawns). While the ravioli were well-executed, the accompanying veal sauce was far too salty; it made it hard to taste much else. The shrimp fettucine and pesto was better, but it was still on the salty side and the pesto sauce was a little unorthodox- there was a heavy dairy element to it rather than good olive oil... Overall, my experience was pleasant enough, but based on the food I will explore other Italian dining options in Seattle before considering a return to Il Terrazzo.

Lovely place for a Businesses lunch in Seattle Very nice elegant setting Located in downtown Seattle, excellent service Very attentive . Very good food and wine List.

A busy place, but their efforts to control noise work nicely. Our server was professional, knowledgeable, and delightful, but spread too thin (listening, management?). The good ... my memorable veal scallopini. My first reaction that more herbs would help, dissolved when the taste of truly excellent veal coated my mouth. It was so good, i didn't really care about the accompanying risotto and fresh vegetables. Not as good ... My wife's halibut special was slightly disappointing in being over-cooked, like it had waited too long between fire and table. Irritating till fixed was a waiter who kept reaching behind me. Turned out H e was stashing the pepper mill on a ledge about 16" behind my head to save himself steps. Our server fixed that. I did ask for the sommelier to help pick a second wine; he's still not come. The pear tart was quite forgettable, but the accompanying ice cream was oh, so good! Dr. Scott says: This restaurant has a lot to enjoy, but could and should take it up a notch.

We dined at Il Terrazzo Carmine yesterday evening with eight friends. My salad was outstanding but the veal chop was well below expectations. Veal chop was a daily special and I expected a delicious piece of veal. I found it unseasoned and tasteless. I ate barely half of it. We ordered Cannolis for dessert and found them too hard and the filling was not complete. Another disappointment. We have been there several times in the past and have always enjoyed a good meal. Last night fell way short, may be the chef was on vacation. We will go back again to see if we had an odd experience.

We went for my husband's birthday. It couldn't have been more perfect! Our waiter was phenomenal and the food outstanding. Ambieance was nice. Our hotel recommended and they were spot on.

I been four times and I will come again. Italian restaurant with the flavor of Italy, good selection of wines. I recommend for adult dinner. It noisy. the service is excellent.

dined here with my husband before the big coffee convention in seattle. wow. we were very pleasantly surprised at the well balanced flavors of the entire meal (4 courses!) and perfectly cooked halibut. our server was helpful without being overly pretentious or hovering. can't wait to eat there again next year!

This restaurant is a step back in time to an era when there was formal dining in beautiful restaurants where you could see and be seen by the hippest of the hip in town. It is formal, but at the same time it is relaxed and comfortable. The space is well laid out and spaciously set so as to allow you to be able to carry on a conversation without having to strain to hear yell to be heard. All staff from Maitre'd down to the bus people are appropriately polite and elegant, yet helpful and friendly at the same time, as if you belong to this very special club and are known there. The food is uniformly perfectly prepared and presented and represents the finest Italian cuisine Seattle has to offer.

The Caesar salad was good and the pesto was unbelievably delicious. But the shrimp in the pesto tasted like it was rinsed in tap water. The seafood ravioli wasn’t great whatsoever, lukewarm in the middle, soggy and wayyy too seafoody (that’s saying a lot for Seattle). I don’t think I’m coming back knowing how disappointed I was. I understand the circumstances that’s going on but still though...

Time and time again I have gone here for family celebrations birthday, parties and private romantic dinners, the food is always impeccable the service is great and the ambience is just as good. The wine list is plentiful and the servers are very knowledgeable, the specials are always amazing and I have never had anything subpar. I love to eat and I love Italian, we're not talking pasta only the fish and the meat and the lamb...all of them are fabulous dishes you must try this place!

This classic Italian restaurant remains one of the best to eat Italian in Seattle. It is in a nondescript office building in Pioneer Square but the restaurant space itself is gorgeous, bursting with color, flowers, and decorative Italian plates. There's an outdoor area and lovely bar area too. Service is reliably knowledgeable and efficient. As usual everything we had was great -- our cocktails, my insalata mista and my husband's Caesar, the great spaghetti with arugula and goat cheese most of us ordered and my husband's venison ravioli, and the outstanding creme brulee and good red velvet cake we had for dessert.

Sigh, when I went here I was expecting an experience on par with canlis and other top restaurants, I was very dissapointed. To start the server appeared disgusted that he had to serve us, and was very rude through out the meal. When we ordered our pasta dishes he even "accidentally" grated cheese on us. The food in and of itself was good, not great. The meat was all tender and cooked well, but it didn't really have that wow factor. It just wasn't worth the price. To seal off a rude service from our waiter he rolled his eyes at us when we asked to split the check, sorry I'm not rich enough for your expectations. Maybe I'm judging the food harshly based on the waiter, but for a dinner I was very excited for and was a special occasion I was very dissapointed.

This has been one of my favorite Seattle restaurants for years. The atmosphere, the food and the staff never disappoint.

The food and atmosphere are very good. The service is outstanding. The dishes are basic , well prepared upscale italian.

Outstanding service and food, a restaurant to remember! First off, the servers were amazingly kind and knowledgeable about the dishes. They were attentive, helpful, and very nice. Second, the food was out of this world. The salmon, pesto, bolognese, linguine a la vongole, and bread all tasted amazing, they were all favorites respectively. The creme brûlée was like a cloud in a perfectly decadent shell. Finally, the red velvet cake was moist and fluffy at the same time, leaving room for only perfection. Overall an outstanding restaurant with incredible food and equally outstanding service.

This is consistently top drawer. Consistent service, atmosphere and menu top the list. The first impression is a basket of traditional crusty sourdough bread, reminiscent of old time San Francisco. The next is the staff of professional servers, who dress and look the part of high class restaurant wait persons. The menu is consistent and is pretty much unchanged each time we arrive. This is a family operation that continues to serve high quality since the original Carmine passed a few years ago. We are happy to see them continue the tradition. The best Veal Scalloppini in Seattle.

We dined on a Monday evening at 7. Lovely restaurant, excellent service. Started with oysters which weren’t very good. Waiter removed them from the bill and manager thanked us for the feedback. Nice touch. Cesar salads were excellent. Specials were halibut and lamb Chops. All were delicious. Risotto was amazing.

We came to the restaurant with relatives who live in Seattle. They clearly enjoy this restaurant and they also clearly frequented it. the wine selection is ample and we had an excellent choice. I enjoyed both fish and pasta . the prices were relatively high but the quality warranted it. I'm told that some lists rank this restaurant the best in Seattle. I can see how they might. The service enhanced the meal with extremely solicitous wait staff. I woudl recommend this restaurant to anyone lookin gfor a fine meal in Seattle and certainly for diners looking for a fine iIalian meal accompanied by an extensive wine list..

This restaurant lets you be a leisurely diner. Our service was steady and yet we were able to dawdle through our meal. The food, as usual, was wonderful. We highly recommend the salmon, salads, and any pasta offering.

Outstanding menu as well as the meal. Great atmosphere, with exceptional service. Parking is easy. Fresh menu is a real treat!

We have been eating here for years. It is good every time. The OsoBucco is the best. They have a lot of seafood choices on the menu. We enjoyed the calamari.

Il Terrazo Carmine is a Seattle institution that never disappoints. The wait staff is unfailingly knowledgable, efficient and charming. It is always filled with parties of friends, families celebrating a special occasion, and for those in the know, intimate dinners for two in the bar. The vitello scallopine is a favorite; the silky cauliflower soup is a beautiful thing. The large array of antipasti choices are displayed near the entrance;be sure to have a look before going to your table. The menu specials offer the best of the season, particularly the fish. Wild Alaska King Salmon in season is ethereal; so is the Alaskan Halibut. This kitchen knows how to cook fish. Osso buco on a cold winter's evening never disappoints. The wine list is extensive and carefully curated; there is something for everyone on this list.

Decided that we deserved a nice dinner that we didn't cook and this has always been a favorite. It's at the other end of downtown and the traffic can suck so we generally eat elsewhere but we do love the place. The food is wonderful, the room is nice if a bit noisy and the service is always great. Last night was just as expected except we decided to see if the bar was bit quieter than the restaurant and it is. However we had a table at the end of the bar and right next to a busy area with lots of wait staff traffic- ok but we will eat in the dinning room next time. There is a new arrangement for parking so you need to ask for instructions.

Attended a business meeting, the food and service was top notch! Great wine selection, perfectly done salads, and the dinner was perfectly done! I recommend the duck, it will melt in your mouth, great flavor.

We were going to a comedy show at Comedy Underground and wanted to be close, this worked perfect! Seafood was ordered for our table of 5 and everyone loved it. Wait staff perfect, food perfect, bar perfect. My wife had seafood and gnocchi, said it was awesome, someone else had halibut special, it was gone before she could offer a taste to others! I had Choppino and it was average, but I am not holding that against them when the whole family is impressed.

The food was decent, but the thing I had a problem with was the service. My friends and I were not seated for 5 seconds when the waiter asked us what we wanted to drink. Really? He came back to our table throughout our stay every 5 minutes. It was quite overbearing! Find the right balance and your guests will find a way to wave you down when they're ready. Btw, don't get any dish with their clams and mussels. They are WAY out of season. I think the dish I ordered was called the Cappelini di Mare. You can get better Italian elsewhere.

Let’s start with the bread. Any Italian knows. It’s all about the bread. This place. Makes Great bread. Pleasant, Courteous staff. I had the gnocchi sorrentina My wife had calamari with Linguini. West Coast did East Coast Italian. PERFECT. highly recommend

Food was excellent and creative, the service outstanding. Even though it was pretty full you could talk and it still felt intimate. Great place for a date! Everything was spotless. Truly enjoyed our lunch.

Not only does this place have amazing food, it has extraordinary service. They have an amazing wine selection that complements any dish you might order. Excellent place for special occassion!

We visited for a business dinner for 23, which is the maximum for the private dining room. The staff was friendly, professional, and accommodating, and we were able to order off the full menu. The restaurant is located in the historic district @ First Ave, South. A cab ride from many of the hotels is appropriate unless one has time for a hilly and lengthy jaunt. The menu is upscale Italian with something for everyone. The servings were delicious! Il Terrazzo Carmine is a good choice for a private party or a special occasion!

We had not been here in YEARS; however, friends of ours booked us a table here for a quick bite before a Sounders Game. I thought it was kind of crazy but we were NOT the only folks in Sounders gear on a Saturday afternoon at 5pm. Granted it was not a calm, slow paced meal, BUT the staff were more than accommodating to our needs, gave us great service and with a couple appetizers, split salads and pasta, it was a perfect meal. I had remembered the ambiance was nice but truly had forgotten how NICE and soothing, so we will definitely go back on a less rushed evening, but definitely worth going for any reason.

We chose this restaurant primarily because it got pretty good reviews, and it was raining and it is near our hotel. We were pleasantly surprised at the beginning by the attractive room, the pleasant reception and our table by the back window looking out on a sort of courtyard. The menu looked good, the wine list looked good...we were off to a good start. Our server seemed a bit hesitant, new job, maybe? But not unpleasant. Over all a very nice experience!

This restaurant sets the standard for all high end Italian restaurants in Seattle. It's not cheap but the food is wonderful and the service is great. It is very much a special event sort of place. The dining room is beautiful too. A must do spot in Seattle.

Had dinner here Saturday night. We were two couples. It was an awesome evening. Food and service were excellent and the atmosphere was great.

We went to this restaurant without a reservation at a busy time and they managed to find a table for us. Note : make a reservation to go here. The first 2 gentlemen that sat us and served us drinks were excellent and very attentive. But then they must have finished their shift.... that's when the poor service started. Our order of starters was wrong, twice, but we ended up with a free starter to go with the other 2. Not once did our server come back to check on us during the meal. By this time the place was only half full with 4 servers and 3 were socializing amongst themselves or walking around looking confused. All in all tho the food made up for it in the end! Fantastic pastas! Note: the menu we saw on their website must be outdated because it wasn't what we were hoping to order.

NYE DAY LUNCH. CELEBRATING 50YEARS MARRIED. SAT IN THE BAR. NOON. ATHENA OUR SERVER AND THE BARTENDER ON DUTY- WAS WONDERFULLY . ATTENTIVE, GRACIOUS.FRIENDLY. ATTENDED TO US WITH A SMILE. A DEFINITE ASSET TO THIS RESTAURANT.

We had a very nice meal at Il Terrazzo Carmine. All the food was very good and the service by Diego was very nice. My only issue was since we were seated near, not at, the bar and Diego was also the bartender he was doing two jobs and sometimes it was a little slow. Nothing he could do about he worked hard and was wonderful. I had the steak special, a perfectly cooked ribeye and delicious, my wife the seafood ravioli, which see loved. A wonderful meal and Diego was great, I would recommend if you are in the area.

Great food, pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. Has a nice private outdoor area in shaded spot rear of building. Excellent bar.

We celebrated our 35th Anniversary here and boy what a treat. It is a hidden gem, a little difficult to find at first. You feel like you are eating in Carmine's home in Italy. We were greeted promptly and seated at a wonderful table close to the patio with the white lights and fire. We started off with a delicious Italian wine recommended by our waitress. Every single thing we ate was absolutely delicious and the bread... oh my gosh was it good! Our niece lives locally and had never heard of it before. We told her about our experience and she plans to go asap. We can't wait to return. I highly recommend it!!

Great upscale Italian fine dining near Pioneer Square. Very competent kitchen and wait staff. Classy seating areas inside and outside. Had a good Brunello with my meal, after a tasty and refreshing Manhattan cocktail. Then veggie antipasto, followed by veal. Had cannoli for desert; a little dry but ok.

Our visit to Seattle included my birthday, and I was looking for someplace special to celebrate. I found it! We started with caprese salad, dressed simply with very flavorful olive oil. The tomatoes were a brilliant red, and the mozzarella had to have been house made. The bread was served warm, with a crunchy crust and a yummy spongy inside. For main courses we had salmon, and lamb chops that were one of the nightly specials. The salmon tasted fishy, and when we told our waitress, Jackie, she was very apologetic and offered to bring a different dish. The replacement veal scaloppine was so tender it didn’t even need a knife. The lamb chops were well seasoned and cooked exactly as I ordered. Both dishes came with lovely asparagus risotto and mixed vegetables. Pinot noir was darker in color than I’m used to - I actually thought it was Cabernet - but was bold and flavorful, complementing my lamb nicely. Before we had a chance to order dessert, Jackie brought over a piece of red velvet cake with a candle. While I enjoyed it, I would have preferred to choose my own dessert. Then again, it was free. 😊 New York style cheesecake (as opposed to Italian, made with ricotta) came with very boozy cherries and was delicious. My only reservation in recommending this place is the prices. The lamb chops in particular shocked the conscience at a whopping $58. Everything seemed fresh and House-made, and service was terrific.

Our concierge recommend this restaurant since it was a short walk from our hotel. The food was excellent, I had the Costata Di Maiale Con Erbe Impanata and my wife had the Linguine Alle Vongole. The sommelier did an excellent job paring both our meals with a wonderful Tuscan Vernaccia.

My husband and I had dinner here on a recent trip to Seattle. This was the best meal we had by far!! My husband had the special which was a filet with asparagus risotto and a vegetable. I had the rigatoni Bolognese. They were divine, although I have to admit I was pretty jealous of his filet!! I didn’t have room for dessert but the tiramisu looks delicious. We will definitely be back.

The Service was very good and the ambiance was wonderful but the food was just average , very bland and boring . Il Terrazzo used to the go-to Italian Classic Restaurant for the best authentic tasteful food in Seattle . I don't even think there is one Italian that works there anymore , It is sad to say that one of the best restaurants in Seattle in the last 30 years is no more

I took a friend here for dinner and it was spectacular. We had a quite table in the back where we could talk and laugh but even without that it would have been fine because the restaurant has a romantic atmosphere, so is on the quiet side anyway. We split the shrimp and crab stuffed ravioli with lobster sauce and the mushroom sausage risotto. Both dishes were delicious and the chef actually split the meals for us so we each go half of each on a plate when it was brought out. With our meals and a glass of bubbly each our tab was only $77.00. For the atmosphere and the delicious food we thought that was a steal. Our server was amazing and checked on us just the right amount of times. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or just a night out with friends. They also have patio seating for the nice summer nights!

We never give bad reviews...BUT, This was awful. We took friends and were devastated by the meal, not to mention the price after wards. Must have been an off night. We were told it was the best of the best. So sorry, but it was $182 dollars wasted on tiny portions of tough meat and unintersting salads. Sorry:(

Very romantic with a lovely patio when the weather is nice. Food and service were both excellent and we had a wonderful time.

This was the perfect place for a birthday dinner. The food was delicious and the staff were attentive and helpful.

Yes, the atmosphere is great, the service wonderful, ...but the food has totally gone downhill. The veal chop used to be fall off the bone delicious...now tough, with little taste (and at 60 dollars you would expect it to have some truly delicious flavor...we think it was cooked on higher heat instead of slowly). Two large slabs of cold butter stuck on top are supposed to somehow compensate for the lack of taste, but the meat was so cool that they didn't melt but just sat there. The pork chop was dry and lacked seasoning. The Brussel sprouts were under cooked, the salad dressing was tasteless while the salad mista looked like someone plonked a small handful of salad from a packet onto the plate, the (huge lament here) calamari starter used to be so full of flavor and spices and is now a heap of tomato sauce with capers and rubbery calamari (so tragic it used to be so good), the eggplant starter lacked depth of flavor....there are still some plus things. The ravioli is very good, the bread is fresh, the creme brulee is as it should be....but it used to be a truly excellent restaurant where you could order anything at all and it was great. Not any longer. We thought it was just the Bellevue store that was not up to the usual standard, but now Seattle has fallen down significantly. Yipes. So sad to see this.

Had a great dinner with friends. Service was great. Food, was so so. You would think for the money there might be more flavor.

Husband and I had dinner here in August 2021. We ate on the patio which was lovely, with space heaters, well lit and pretty flowers. Bring a sweater in the evening. Our server, while new, was very sweet and took good care of us. The bread was delicious as was the mushroom bisque. Husband had duck and loved it. I opted for the halibut that was a special and it was just awful. Zero flavor, the most bland piece of fish I have ever had. I didn't think it was possible to ruin halibut but apparently it is. We both had dessert. Both delicious, key lime and flourless chocolate cake. Would I return, absolutely. But I was just so disappointed with my meal.

Everything...the food, service and atmosphere was excellent! The noise level was acceptable as we could have a conversation and the service was never intrusive. We have dined here before and will continue to do so in the future.

I love Il Terrazzo Carmine. My wife loves it too. So does anyone that I ever take there to lunch or dinner. Ambiance is great--has a cozy feel and hosts and wait staff make you feel at home. Breads and butters are superb and whet your appetite for more. The menu is diverse--soups, salads, great pastas, veal, lamb, chicken, clams, fish, fresh oysters and on. And they do it ALL well. The desserts are hard to pass up but if I ask for an Affagato they know how to make it right and have great espresso. The wait staff are attentive but sensitive to how much interaction you want. Carmine's makes you feel as if you're in an Italian home where Mama is going to serve her own special dishes and you want to stay at the table for hours. It's perfect for quiet conversation over a meal and glass of wine or for a larger get together. Superb!

Long standing Italian restaurant in Pioneer Square. I’ve been here 3-4 times and it is always busy. Make reservations . Had a delicious Antipasti and oysters. Both were delicious as was the Rigatoni and Gnocchi. Gnocchi was better. Great service, ambiance and food.

The decor and ambience is warm and relaxed. It is a popular busy restaurant but it did not feel crowded The service was attentive but not smothering. Food allergies were happily accommodated. The food was excellent. Traditional Italian done perfectly.

Lovely Italian food in a delightful space. Service was very friendly. Antipasti were exceptional, especially the marinated veggies and mushrooms. Pastas were very good. Overall, a very nice experience.

I wanted to give them a shot after several great experiences at their Bellevue outpost. Food wasn't as enjoyable as the Bellevue location, but still good overall. Also ordered a fig dessert that really missed the mark, which was a bummer as figs are one of my favorite things to eat. If you're planning on drinking here, avoid the cocktails and glass wine pours, they are horrendously overpriced; even by Seattle standards. Go with a bottle of Italian wine, nice selection and while expensive, are a much better bang for your buck.

It's true - the service here is perfect - and so is the food! I have been looking for a combination of great Italian food with true service for years in various cities and THIS is it. We had wonderful service - friendly, informative, helpful, unobtrusive, efficient. We also asked for a pasta/sauce combination that was not on the menu and it was gladly created and served up piping hot - THANK YOU. True Italian dinning takes several hours and this is what we did - spent two hours enjoying the ambiance, the flavors, and the company. Wine, starters, pasta dish, meat dish, dessert. It's what good Italian eating is all about. Thanks for a great experience. Folks, if you are still reading this - STOP. Pick up the phone or start tapping and make a reservation!

Bartender at our hotel recommended this restaurant to my husband and I to go to for our anniversary. Great food, ambiance and service. When we were sat we were asked if we were celebrating anything and we mentioned our anniversary. At the end of our dinner we were brought a piece of tiramisu (the best we've ever had) with a candle and a happy anniversary. Such a nice touch.

Every time I am in Seattle this is my go to Italian place. The food and service is superb. Love all the selections from appetizers to dessert.

Beautiful old school grown-up setting with grown-up waiting staff. Food was very good genuine Italian food with fresh ingredients. The setting is not cool or trendy, but it is buzzing and lively.

If you enjoy great Italian food and a quiet, romantic atmosphere, this may become one of your favorites. We were visiting family last week, and were fortunate to snare a reservation on short notice. (You will DEFINITELY want a reservation, the place was packed on a Tuesday evening.) For details on the menu, check out their excellent web site. The menu offers something for every taste, but the WOW factor is the wine list. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the excellent, attentive service. Best decaf coffee I've enjoyed in quite a long time. Did I mention how great is the service? We will definitely dine here on our next trip to Seattle!

Absolutely stunning food, service and atmosphere! We were blown away by the quality and preparation of our appetizers and entrees. Generous portions make the prices completely reasonable. Our choices: Caesar salads, burrata with seasonal vegetables, cioppino, halibut with risotto, and osso bucco - all exceptionally prepared and delicious. This will be our first choice when we return to Seattle! Grazie mille!

Upscale setting a few blocks from the waterfront! Attentive service, excellent wine list, varied menu, and well-prepared food!

This was our second time here and we enjoyed it. The wine list is extensive. We had the Fidelitas 40/40. A very good Cab blend. We had a simple snack of an appetizer and salad. Their selection of Italian food is very authentic and delicious. Service was outstanding.

We went on a business trip to have dinner. Environment is good very italian style. We order mozarella for start which was delicious. We order a pasta al pesto with shrimp which was really nice. The pasta al dente which makes it really tasty. The bruchetta with crab was very simple expected a bit more crab as mostly was tomatos. Service really good no complain always to detail.

Dined with good friends and I had not been here for 5 years. Great to experience that their quality of food, service and ambiance has been maintained! Very pleasant hostess greeted us and had our table ready upon arrival (we were 10 minutes early). Nice table location, too. Our waitress was very good, she took our drink orders soon after being seated and then let us talk for a bit before telling us the specials for the evening. We were bringing each other up to date on what was going on and our waitress let us talk for a nice time before taking our orders. Venison ravioli, crab ravioli, angel hair pasta and another pasta dish, all were superb. Cauliflower soup was rich and delicious! A pretty perfect evening. Service was excellent, food and presentation wonderful and the ambiance lively but not overly loud. Four people around a table and we could hear without having to speak too loudly. Not expensive considering the quality of food, wine list and decor. Highly recommended. They also have an outdoor dining area ready to go when the arrival of good weather gets here. Our dinner was about $70 each, including the tax and tip. As I said, excellent service, food and ambience.

This was our first visit to Il Terrazzo Carmine but it will not be our last. We had an extraordinary meal, food, wine and service. We were particularly appreciative of the chef’s ability (and willingness) to accommodate my wife’s dairy allergy. Our waiter did a great job of guiding us to a great experience without pointing to the most expensive options. The food was excellent! And finally, when we made our reservation’s we had let them know it was our anniversary. In addition to all the staff we interacted with sharing their warm congratulations, there were charming extras like a note on the table and a complimentary dessert. A great dining experience!

My husband and I wanted to have dinner on a nice italian restaurant and we couldn’t have picked a better place. We ordered veal and risotto and then dessert and everything was perfect. From the ambiance to the staff and the food…everyone was very attentive and nice. Absolutely recommend it

We spent a few days in Seattle for a brief get away and "stumbled" across this gem on Open Table. There are so many options in the greater Seattle area so it wasn't easy narrowing down our choices We were looking for good food, service and ambience and Il Terrazzo Carmine did not disappoint! A special "thank you" to our server, Eric. He made the meal and evening very memorable. We were debating on what to order. I was considering the King Salmon and then he mentioned the Halibut special. Both my husband and I decided to order the halibut. Eric suggested we order one salmon entree and one halibut entree and share. We agreed that was a great idea. At any other restaurant we've been to, each entree would be plated separately and then it's up to the diners to "divide and conquer" but not at this fine establishment. Much to our surprise, two plates were delivered to our table, already split for us. Classy touch! The service was attentive but not overbearing. We will definitely go back!

We are staying at the beautiful Fairmont Olympic hotel and asked for a good recommendation for a lovely Italian restaurant to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. This one was highly recommended but sadly disappointed. Our table was in the corner with my husband facing the wall. Not a good start. So, I spoke to the lady who welcomed us and asked to move. She then to our horror, she spoke to our server and said” She is not happy with the table!!!”. In front of me, as if I wasn’t there. We were moved but the night had been spoiled by then. Unbelievable and never would happen in the UK. The wine list is not a true replication of the one on the internet but our Orvietta was chilled to perfection and was delicious. We had been to the vineyard where it was produced so were happy, as 40 years ago, we married in Florence, Italian and all thing Italian as precious to us. We were offered Parmesan cheese to seafood pasta, which is an absolute Nono it Italy. The pastas were nicely cooked and the little treat of a delicious Tiramisu with a candle was nice. Overall, very disappointed in the experience-

We love Italian food and ate here based on the TA reviews. Although it was almost 2 miles from our apt., we walked to dinner rather than try to get a ride through the terrible dinner time traffic. The walk was well worth it. Dinner was fabulous.....calamari appetizer, small portions of two pasta dishes (penne with salmon and ravioli with venison), and then we split the duck entree. All of the food was spectacular, as was the wine. Service was impeccable.

We had a great server, Kathy. She steered us in the right direction for portion sizes, which allowed us to really enjoy ourselves and not be uncomfortable afterwards. We were also able to order a dessert, which is worth the calories here. Another great meal, and many thanks to Kathy.

What a delightful find! We stumbled upon this refined Italian restaurant through a nearby shop and enjoyed lunch on a charming patio tucked between city buildings. The service was excellent, and the food was just as impressive. I had a flavorful Italian salad, while my partner enjoyed fresh, perfectly prepared pasta. The bread was warm and delicious—an excellent spot for a relaxed and romantic lunch. We can't wait to go back for dinner.

This is one of the best Italian restaurants in the United States, as far as I'm concerned. I have eaten in many New York restaurants and not found anything better.

Had high expectations for this place based on reviews. But our group of five had dinner here and we all agreed it wasn't up to our expectations (and was in fact significantly inferior to our dinner the next night at The Pink Door). The antipasto plate was oh hum, halibut with risotto fairly bland, and overall experience only fair. On bright side the fillet was very well cooked and flavorful so not all bad. All in all given the very stiff competition and better options very nearby this is not a place we'd return to.

I dined solo at Il Terrazzo Carmine as my first dinner in Seattle. And with that being said of course, I put in the research and I expected an above-average dining experience. Sure enough, throughout the whole meal, I was very impressed, and I have Il Terrazzo Carmine at the highest place on my recommendations list for Seattle dining! —The atmosphere is classy, upscale, progressive, and all-around inviting. Lights are dim, which may not bode well for kids who’d fall asleep (me as a child), but optimal for a date or a celebratory gathering. A bar rests in the middle of the open, airy dining room, with abundant seating around it and a delightful booth/table setup stretching with great length against the wall. I chose to sit there, which proved to be a relaxing spot—the booth’s bench was super comfy with plush, red pillows and cushioning. The restaurant is housed in the lobby of some kind of large building, maybe an apartment complex or office tower in Pioneer Square, and this works in its favor, because very few people ventured in and around the place, keeping it relatively quiet. —Service was prompt, professional, warm, and truly laid-back: a type of service I’d wish for any day. The servers weren’t bubbly-enthusiastic as you might find in a grill or college-crowd eatery, which was my hope. I received my pasta dish within ten or fifteen minutes, and staff were always present if I needed anything. I have been annoyed with myself that I didn’t jot my main waitress’s name, because she did her job very well. —The food was STELLAR. Prosciutto, subtle blend of fine cheeses, oil, and a few other spices comprised my bucatini, after which I could relax with a satisfied stomach. Being somewhat of a picky eater, I couldn’t think of branching too far off my menu selection, no matter the level of simplicity. Kudos to the chefs for providing such remarkable cuisine to the city! Since Seattle holds such a true title of one of the best food cities, it’ll be hard to taste every single establishment people recommend for you, but I hope my readers prioritize Il Terrazzo Carmine. All three of my checkboxes—atmosphere, food, and service—are boldly checked. Prices are reasonable and the overall value is spot-on (solo dining very affordable; large parties will be more expensive), so eating here will be worth it anytime. I will be back on my next Seattle trip!

We first came here after a Mariners game at the nearby stadium--my parents, another couple, and us--in a pouring rain. We walked in, shed our umbrellas, were ushered to the most perfect round table for six, and the meal was magical. Since then, my husband and I have often been back for lunch at the bar. Wonderful veal piccata, time after time. Today we had NY Steak salad (him) and Sliced Roasted Chicken salad (me--with candied walnuts--mm!). The food is always excellent. We love sitting in the small bar, but the whole restaurant is perfect for intimate, memorable meals.

From the bread, all the way through dessert, this restaurant is fabulous. Kathy made her usual great recommendations, and I always enjoy the nightly soup which was asparagus on this evening. Each night we come, it’s special. The constant is the great service, the freshly prepared food, and the atmosphere. It’s never so loud I can’t hear my companions, but there’s a special, yet understated elegance throughout.

So many Italian restaurants, yet so few stand out. Il Terrazzo Carmine delivers on the whole package of food, service, and ambiance. After starting out with a nice Caprese, I had the Spaghettini Ortolano. A simple dish, but absolutely perfectly prepared. Delicious. My wife was looking for a pesto dish and they kindly created an off-the-menu Gnocchi with pesto for her. She loved it. Our server was so very helpful. The room is warm and elegant. An excellent dining experience.

Friendly staff, great atmosphere. Good food but didn’t change my life. However the meet was in the perfect point, what’s not very common in North America. A little too pricey for me but I believe that is the average of Seattle. I recommend making a reservation!

We had a pre-dinner cocktail at their “sister” restaurant which is definitely worthwhile. Good food, professional and attentive service we would go back. Only downside is the funky location of the bathrooms (you have to take the elevator up to an unfinished floor). Guessing this is a temporary situation until the construction is complete, but it felt very strange.

Everyone at Il Terrazzo Carmine makes you feel so warm, welcomed and respected! The ambiance is inviting and warm as well - perfectly set for a romantic dinner.. Unfortunately the dinner did not live up to our expectations. The portions were too large to look inviting. The plating was blasé and looked hurried. There was no subtlety in flavors and nothing really stood out. It felt like slightly better food than a typically neighborhood , cheap Italian joint - in such a fantastically well set up establishment.

I'm not sold on the location - however, once you are inside the restaurant it's great. The service is phenomenal and unbeaten. Great atmosphere. They do have some really great food. I was a bit disappointed they didn't have the wine I wanted. Definitely a go-to spot.

If you love traditional Italian fare, you will never be disappointed by this place. White mess coated waiters, white tablecloths, flowers on every table, this long time Seattle favorite has a well-earned reputation for excellence in every way. They really know how to do veal scallopine, crisp on the outside, melt in your mouth on the inside. The salads, appetizers and desserts are also stellar. Excellent wine list. Valet parking in the evenings, but not for lunch. Hopefully they will reinstate valet parking for lunch or find a substitute during Seattle's construction boom.

Business dinner for four was prepared and served just right. My only complaints were the valet parking and the noise level. Parking is under a building across an alley from the restaurant and we had to go out in the rain to cross the alley. The valet service was slow. Once inside the restaurant noise was apparent and never relented while our dinner was in progress. I ate the monk fish special of baked prosciutto wrapped fish with a mushroom soup starter. Both were very tasty and perfectly prepared. Martini was made to order and the wine selected by our host was a great Washington state cab.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years. I made reservations for my husband and I and another couple. Maybe it was because of summer but this is one of the few nights I have been here that it was not packed. This restaurant is usually busy so tables are pretty close together. We pick different items everything we come here. This time we ordered the calamari affogati, Saute Di Vongole & Cozze, and Bruschetta. Arrived quickly and was delicious. For dinner we had two halibut specials and the rest of our group had Suprema Di Pollo Farcita and Costata Di Maiale Con Erbe Impanata. I can't say enough about this restaurant. Food and service was outstanding. Also, if dinner seems a bit pricey, try lunch, it is just as good.

They have an outstanding wine list. Everything was perfect from start to finish. Each course was well thought out, well presented and super tasty. My husband and I’s favorite weekly date night spot.

My wife and I love Italian food, and eat it once a week. My wife also studied abroad in Italy and knows good Italian food. This place is great. My wife stated that this is one of the best gnocchi dishes she has EVER had. We brought our 18 month old daughter at the time and the restaurant was very accommodating.

This restaurant is the best Italian by far in Seattle. I do not know how its not in the top 10 on Trip Advisor. Everything is always superb. I have eaten here on multiple occasions and always bring family when they visit to show them what is all about. Service is always incredible and the food is so authentic and delicious. I have nothing bad to say about this place it speaks for itself.

I went to the restaurant pretty late at around 9pm and I was quite hungry. The waiter brought us the free bread right away and the salad and pizza that I ordered very quickly as well. I was satisfied with the quality of customer service and their food:)

Phenomenal real Italian food! One of the best, so we’re glad we made it our one and only dinner post cruise before heading home. Everyone was extremely friendly and the food was tasteful and plentiful. We forget the name of the bartender, but sit and have a drink and watch a real bartender do his thing. Perfection! Cosmopolitan’s are served in the old style martini glasses. Very cool! We love that you could order small plates and we ordered 3. Gnocchi with red sauce, the Cannelloni stuffed with veal and ricotta, and the venison and spinach ravioli! All three were perfect for two people to split. The venison ravioli was incredible. We started with the salad with goat cheese and candied walnuts. Very good! Finally, we finished with the Ossobuco which we shared. Everything was perfect right down to our table for two off to the side. Definitely recommend a reservation and don’t be fooled by the location. Our Uber driver dropped us off and we didn’t see the name of the restaurant on the column in the front of the building. You have to go in to the lobby and the restaurant is in the back and has outside seating. Highly recommended!

The decor of the restaurant is a bit dated but that is about the only possible compliant. The service and food was outstanding. It was pretty close to a flawless meal. Gnocchi was one of the best I have ever had. Wine list was not overly deep but there were many eclectic choices available. Would dine here again anytime I am back in Seattle.

This restaurant is located in Pioneer Square and is excellent. The location, service, ambiance, and food were perfect. We came into Seattle to attend a concert at the WaMu Theater knowing that we were going to have dinner but had not made any specific plans on where that would be. Once we arrived near the WaMu Theater, we searched for restaurants near us and Il Terrazzo Carmine popped up as one of the options. We found the restaurant, walked in, and quickly walked right back out. We were dressed for a concert and not a white tablecloth restaurant. As we were contemplating other restaurant options, we saw several people walk into the restaurant in shorts and a t-shirt (they were going to a Mariners game). We decided we were not underdressed, went back into the restaurant and proceeded to have one of the best Italian meals we've ever had. We hope to be back with some of our friend!

Our fist post covid trip to Seattle started with one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. Great service, great food and authentic Italian ambiance. Had the carpaccio to start and cannelloni as the main. Both excellent. The bread is so good we got two baskets. Too bad though, as we had no room for dessert.

The restaurant was selected due to a 1000 points Opentable promotion. And it was a nice surprise. Lovely ambiance, delicious food, good service and good selection of wines. Recommended.

Italian at its best !! This restaurant has been going for several generations & I'm sure keeps getting better ! After having eaten all over the world at many fine place , I enjoy having new experiences --have often been in a situation where there were more than one choice on the menu . Tonight , the chef suggested that he prepares both on the same plate --risotto & crab ravioli so I didn't have to choose --both were spectacular !! Would not hesitate to recommend this venue nor would we hesitate to return ! Fantastic place , great service & exception food .Creme brûlée & tiramisu also "to die for "!!

This is our favorite special occasion restaurant. We visited just a few weeks ago and I gave it a top rating. On our most recent visit it was even better, so I need to expand the rating scale upwards. The food is always wonderful. My partner and I usually struggle to figure out what to order because there are so many enticing choices. As we went through our usual discussion of "starter or soup or salad or dessert", made even more difficult than usual because of the mushroom bisque soup special, our server Kathy suggested that we could get half-size portions of starters. It was the perfect solution. We each had a half starter, a cup of the mushroom bisque, and a small portion of a pasta entrée. We both thoroughly enjoyed everything, and really appreciated finding a way to add some additional variety to our meal. We still chose to skip salad and dessert; I'll have to try skipping lunch next time. I don't eat shellfish, so another trick I use is to substitute salmon for shellfish in the pasta dishes. It works well for most of them. My partner and I both enjoyed the linguine. Even though the pieces of salmon are smallish, the chef didn't overlook them -- medium, just right.

This was definitely the best of the Seattle Italian restaurants that I have dined at. The staff were pleasant and attentive, the food was incredibly tasty and the prices were very reasonable. I loved that you can choose between a small or large plate of any of the pasta dishes. Don't expect the food here to be revolutionary...this is good, simple, old-fashioned Italian done exactly as you'd expect. No surprises...and all the better for it.

Carmine's is a bit difficult to find, several blocks south of Pioneer Square, even past the Union Gospel Mission. But, it's well worth seeking out, to join many of Seattle's most elegant people in a world-class venue with the very best of Italian foods. The menu is extensive, the prices not particularly expensive. A great combination. My favorite, not on the menu but always graciously served and expertly made, is Spaghetti Carbonara. I urge you to ask for it -- as good as any I ever found in Italy and France -- and maybe they'll add it to the menu. This classic restaurant is very highly recommended.

This is a very fine sort of Italian restaurant. The pastas are not as wonderful as they sound, although full of cream and butter, but my broiled salmon was done just right, the desserts were very good, the service was attentive and kind, and the restaurant itself had that lively,, quiet hum that tells you all is well in the world.

Berta took care of us better than our waiter and if she had not been there the experience would not have been as amazing as it was. I manage a restaurant and Lodge in MONTANA and wish she would come work for me!!!

We were here for a business dinner. Exceptional food, great wine selection and incredible service. Couldn't ask for a better experience. It's not an everyday restaurant but for a special occasion this is the place to go.

We go to Carmines often and we love it because the quality of the food is great, the service is exceptional, and the price is fair. The environment is romantic and also great for small business meetings.

Went for our first visit on 02/13/16 and we loved the atmosphere and food. It was top notch from (almost) beginning to end. Our server was phenomenal; not too intrusive but had perfect timing with our food, drinks, etc. It paid to have early reservations (5:30 p.m.) which meant that we felt like we were by ourselves for most of our time there (i.e., nobody was sitting next to us). Folks come here knowing they are going to pay quite a bit so everybody typically dresses nice and you don't normally have children present. I would have given them five stars except the creme brulee was not the greatest. The dish they make it in was too shallow so there was more of the burnt sugar topping then custard so unfortunately that was the primary flavor - which is not what it should be. But that is my only complaint. We are looking forward to going back (but will pass on dessert). We had drinks in the bar after dinner and that was an enjoyable experience, as well. What's not commonly known is: there is free valet parking behind the restaurant. It's hard to see but make sure you look for it because you walk right out of the restaurant into the garage w/o any problems.

We walked to Il Terrazzo Carmine after a Mariners baseball game. We arrived early, so we stopped for a glass of wine at its sister bistro in the same building. It had a nice, but similar menu that we resisted. I was set on the seafood raviolini in the formal restaurant! The wine was good, and when time came, we went to Il Terrazzo for our reservation. Charming decor, spacious restaurant. In general, a very pleasant place to be. The prosciutto and melon was excellent, I thought (my wife not so much of a prosciutto fan). Then she had a dinner salad that she liked a lot. My raviolini was also excellent. The bread, although I don't know if it was their own home-made or had some other origin, was also quite good. Rating for the food, then, would be a five from my point of view. Noise, coming from a large party seated next to us part-way through our meal, was annoying. I wish there was a seating plan that allowed parties to be seated separately from couples or four-tops. It would really help. Service was prompt, but... the server seemed somehow displeased with us, or something. Maybe he just didn't want to be at work that evening? I don't know, but his lack of warmth (is that the right word? It wasn't like we wanted a new friend, but we weren't meaning to intrude, either!) made me a little uneasy. Definitely not 5-star service.

We decided to eat here based on TA reviews and we’re not disappointed. The food was excellent, well prepared and quite delicious. The wife’s head the gnocchi in a cream sauce, and it was definitely one of the best ones she’s ever had. I had the eggplant Parmesan which was also excellent and delicious. The service is old-school traditional, friendly and very helpful. All in all a really good Italian restaurant in Seattle and one that we would highly recommend.

I celebrated a birthday today with a friend who shares the same birthday month and it was lovely. We had a seafood capelli along with a farro/greens salad with pan-seared halibut. Everything was delicious and the service was really attentive.

The staff and kitchen care about you and produce a wonderful dining experience. The wait staff and kitchen are in sync here with perfectly timed courses. The food is excellent; classic Italian and some nice northwest twists; wonderful wine list; all around fine meal.

We had a very special dinner at this restaurant. First, thank you tripadvisor reviewers for steering us to it. As people have said, the service was professional and friendly, the atmosphere made it feel intimate and more than just a dinner out, and the food was absolutely amazing! We were visiting Seattle, but wish we lived closer so we could go frequently. We have recommended this restaurant many times since, and we have such nice memories until we can visit again.

Lovely, lovely, friction free. This is how lunch should always be. And would be if I could afford a $40 lunch every day. The mixed greens salad was severely plain for $8, so...puh on that. But the Cioppino was piping hot, not oily, and relied more on plump perfectly cooked shellfish and squid than potatoes to bulk it out. The Red Velvet cake had exemplary frosting, though the cake itself was dry and unremarkable. A minor quibble--the bathroom was kind of sloppy with soapy water splashed about. All in all, a nice meal. Worth a trip every six months if you work in Pioneer Square.

Found managing staff unprofessional to say the least. We were having good time and are older women. Seemed to really cater to what I’m assuming “regular” customers. Not fair to the rest of us

You know when you want to go somewhere with friends, be able to hear them and feel like a grownup and not a hipster? Well this is the place. How in the WORLD it took me so long to finally go here is beyond me. This is Italian at it's best with service you only find in NYC. Thank you Il Terrazzo Carmine for restoring my desire to go out dining in Seattle again. I know you have been there for thousands of years but it took me this long to find you and I won't let you go…ever.

Service was ok, paid little attention to the table after ordering, very "stuffy" feel to the place and the food was over priced and fair at best.

We were shocked by the wine prices. Add 20 percent for tip and you are looking at over $100 to $500 per bottle. Kind of ruined the food which was good, very nice, but $50 per entree just again seemed too much. Atmosphere and service were excellent. Expect to spend more than $100 per person, with wine and desert easily $200 per person.

Great upscale Italian restaurant with excellent service, friendly wait staff and hostesses! One of the largest wine lists I have ever seen. I can highly recommend them

We wanted to have dinner somewhere in the Pioneer Square area and the reviews for Il Terrazzo Carmine led us here. I tried to make a reservation at Open Table but there was nothing for our time frame. So I phoned and was told we could be seated in the lounge of the bar. We decided to go for it and were so glad we did. We were seated at a table with a banquette on one side and chairs on the other. It really was no different than many restaurants. So do not be put off by being seated in the lounge. The menu is the same as the main restaurant and all the items we ordered were absolutely delicious. For starters we shared the bruschetta with Dungeness crab. It was served on two plates, each with a generous slice of crusty bread with a pile of Dungeness crab and diced tomatoes on top. Then on to Tuscan bean soup, excellent, insalata mista with superb vinaigrette, Caprese with buffalo mozzarella that was the richest and creamiest I have eaten--and I eat a lot of Caprese! Our entrées were equally exceptional. I had the Pennette con Salmone with fresh asparagus in a vodka sauce. It was served in a heated dish and it was amazingly good. Hubby had the cannolini which was superb. We topped it off with cannoli, there were two so we didn't have to share. They were also excellent. We both felt that this is one of the best Italian meals we have ever eaten--and we have eaten many in Italy! The waiters were very attentive, even the owner came to take our orders and offer suggestions on the menu. Our waiter even took my drink back when I told him I did not like the boutique gin I had ordered. He brought me another one with my usual gin at no charge! Another thing we really like about this restaurant is that on most dishes you can order a regular or a small, even the salads. We ordered the small pastas and that was more than enough for us.

Really great ambiance, great food and great service. Had been there for office dinner meeting. enjoyed every bit of it. I had order Salmon which was delicious. there were couple of folks who were vegetarians and were able to find dishes for them. Overall really great experience..

Our party of four went on a Wednesday night with a 6:30 reservation and was seated immediately in a less than half-filled restaurant. We started with the antipasto. While our waiter suggested the larger of the two dish sizes, the small and limited portions of meat and veggies were better suited for two. What I did taste was good. I then had a cup of the shrimp bisque that was very good. My entrée was the double stuffed pork chop, which was a bit dry. My wife had the Shrimp Fettuccini in Pesto, that I tasted, and we both agree was very good. The other couple had a steak and the seafood stuffed ravioli that they both enjoyed. For dessert, my wife and I shared a Tiramisu that was very good though the serving size was meant as a single serving. Throughout the meal our server was very pleasant and, while maybe not wanting to give the impression of rushing us, we would have preferred he checked our table with some level of regularity. In retrospect, these shortcomings were minor but I expected more from this upscale and expensive restaurant. I am doubtful that we will return at a future date.

En route to the ballgame, we decided to have a leisurely meal before hand. We were pleasantly surprised at the rustic elegance of this restaurant. Although the servers were in white and tables set with linen, it was a casual feeling. Our server was both attentive and good at suggesting alternatives (we thought we would both get a small portion instead of the full size, but he divided up one of the fish specials for us which proved just right‚.

Our server last week was Joe and he was without a doubt one of the most professional and seamless servers we've ever experienced. His supporting folks were also good. Joe was an absolute pro. Super stealthy in keeping our meal on time and making sure we were all happy without being intrusive. We had the risotto with sirloin and mushroom, pasta e fagioli soup, pear salad and red velvet cake. The risotto was perfect and the ultimate comfort food for a cool Seattle evening. Loved the soup and salad. Cake was good if a bit heavy on the frosting. A lovely & lengthy wine list- - priced on the higher side but not out of line with what other restaurants charge.. The corkage fee is $35 FYI. Some tables a little close together. They don't charge any additional fees which we were grateful for since several high end restaurants in Seattle do this, and it only makes for confusion and extra time to calculate an appropriate tip. Overall absolutely recommend.
Business lunch
Every visit to seattle must include a visit to this place. The food and service is exceptional in every way. You will not be disappointed. A must try for all.
