The restaurant is located next to the Schyukill River and has outdoor seating which makes it a good place to eat and drink in warm weather The bar area was nice and the drinks were good. The service was quite slow. The food was average.

Sous Chef Biff is a customer of mine so I wanted to try his restaurant. I was overwhelmed how delicious everything was. Great salads, small plates & pizza with flavors surpassing 5 stars. The Burrata Caprese salad, Agnolotti pasta and short ribs are worthy of the finest Walnut street restaurant. The Cippolini pizza was unlike any pizza we ever had before. Service was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about every course. After dinner I ended up buying a gift certificate for our kids for the holidays-it was that good!

While visiting Philadelphia and looking for dinner and drinks we found In Riva on Tripadvisor. It's located on a busy intersection just under a highway overpass, but when traffic slows down the view of the river is actually quite nice. Most everything on the menu looked so good, we asked our server for advice, she pointed us to the chef's choice 5 course meal and we agreed. The salad was the golden beet, frisee and watercress salad which was probably our favorite. The dressing was delicous. Next the hangar steak with spicy cucumber appetizer, also delicious. We enjoyed the beef tartar on toast immensely. I've never seen it served in a sort of mason jar with cheese on top, really delicous. Next the gnocchi over short ribs....by this time we are getting really full but this was also delicious. Almost last, a cured meat and jalapeño pizza. It was good but I think we were too full to really enjoy it, last, we enjoyed three small cannolies (sp). The pistachio was our favorite. Letting the chef choose the dishes was sort of exciting and the food is prepared perfectly. Our server was also great, very informative. Would go back without hesitation.

Great italian food. A lot of new spins on old dishes. I've been here a few times. Great food and a great atmosphere.

The food is very tasty and flavorful. I've been a number of times and have always been pleased. The view of the river is fun. Neat to sit outside and soak up Kelly Drive and the river. Prices Are good and fair. I recommend.

We had a great lunch today. Christina provided excellent service. Our food was delicious. I had the duck Bolognese. The rest of the group had a margarita pizza, Bucatini and the shrimp and linguine. We sat outside. Vaccine card is required to dine indoors. Enjoy!!!

Went here with a large gout the other night. Everyone seemed happy with what they ordered. The specialty drinks were delicious. A bit pricy but worth the money. The server was extremely friendly and helpful. He recommended we order less food than we planned. That's unusual. We were fond of the beet salad and the zucchini mushroom pizza. Both are excellent. Can't wait to go back for more.

Love their gourmet pizza. good draft beer selection. wait staff & bartenders wonderful. great Tuesday night 1/2 price pizza.

I have dined here 3 times in the last few weeks and I'm always impressed with what they've created here. It's in a funky space (that has been a million different restaurants though the years) that sits on Kelly Drive right below Route 1 as it's about to merge with I 76. As the name implies, there are wonderful views of the Schuylkill River( and lots of road traffic in between). They strive to appeal to the many bikers with bike racks, outdoor seating and what I call hipster versions of Italian staples. The interior is not particularly comfortable, but it creates a nice vibe. The patio is so pleasant so I aways try to sit there if the weather is good. No other restaurant in the city can touch their beef tartare, served in a mason jar with toasty bread. I love every pasta and pizza I've had here. Sunday nite is half priced wine and Tuesday is 1/2 price pizza. Their quality and execution is consistently high. TJ is my favorite server. He clearly enjoys his job, is pleasant and helpful. It's always a great experience and, while not inexpensive, always feels like a value.

In Riva is an Italian restaurant with excellent service, nice atmosphere, but the food- bureta and mozzarella are delicate cheeses, but their taste was destroyed with to much salt and spices. The seafood pasta was with black pasta and small pieces of unrecognizable seafood. The red wine was ice cold. But the waiter- very nice

Moderately priced meals seasoned right with combo of cool Italian inspired menu along with specialty pizzas and a bar for those who enjoy a drink with lunch or dinner. There's indoor & outdoor seating, where I prefer the deck to look out on the river as part of the overall ambience.

Small, quirky restaurant off of outbound Kelly Drive at Route 1. The food here was fantastic. Pizza is the thing to order and it is quite delicious. It is a small pie but enough to share with an added appetizer. We did the margharita pizza and added mushrooms. Beautiful charred crust with fresh mushrooms and tasty sauce. We also had the octopus appetizer and the arugula salad both of which were great. They have a large outdoor patio and are friendly to cyclists and dogs. They have a ton of bike racks right at the patio. Really great place to stop and have lunch particularly in nice weather.

I enjoyed in Riva very much the pizza is great and the atmosphere is very nice the best pizza was the four cheese crust is thin and very enjoyable

I agree with the other reviewers -- this is the best pizza, even better than some I've had in Italy. The location is pleasant and the staff young, well versed and helpful. I think the real pizza secret is the flour. The crust is so tender and all other ingredients are fresh and flavorful. Not your South Philly pizza at all -- not that there's anything wrong with that. The little plates are great; everything is shared. Don't forget to try the Zeppelles (sp?) for dessert. Little, hot pillows of fried pate choux (creme puffs), dusted with powdered sugar and served with lemon curd and fresh raspberry yogurt. They're worth the guilt.

Brunch has a lot of options. Bottomless mimosas or bloodys are great! You have the choice of a more lunch-type dish, small plates, pizza, pasta or more egg-based dishes.

In Riva is a lovely restaurant right on the river. Lots of outdoor seating for when the weather is good (and you can bring dogs!) The pizza is delicious, variety of drinks is nice. It's a bit overpriced, but certainly worth a stop now and then.

We love this restaurant! Their zucchini and mushroom pizza with fontina cheese is just insanely good. And what a cool venue, right by the river. We've gotten used to the patio. We'll miss it in the winter.

Great food! Great service! Great view! We had a lovely lunch on a sunny Sunday afternoon seated outside on the patio - overlooking the river. Started with some bloody marys whose garnishes were like appetizers in themselves. Then some salads followed by their famous pizza. Family and bicycle friendly with a separate section for diners with their dogs. Highly recommend!

Thank you In Riva for a great lunch and service for my son's surprise engagement party! I first found out about this restaurant when my son told me he wanted to propose to his girlfriend, on the East Falls Bridge which happens to be about 2 1/2 blocks from this restaurant. There are not many restaurants in this immediate area, so I was bit apprehensive about it, but my son made a special trip there with his then girlfriend for dinner, and when he said this was THE place for his surprise engagement party, I was relieved. Everything went very well; from the time I arrived, I was treated very warmly; I was there early to greet all the arriving guests for what my son's Fiance thought was going to be a surprise birthday party for him...The staff was very accomodating as guests continued to arrive. After the surprise proposal we all returned to the restaurant for lunch...The appetizers, and pizza were great! everyone really enjoyed their food. Service was quick, efficient and the food was hot and yummy... Two thumbs up to the staff and the owner Arthur...We are looking forward to many more visits with family and friends!! You helped make my son and his new fiance's day very special!!

Waitress was efficient, but the food was simply awful. It was pouring rain when we got in, had to park across the street, totally drenched and when we walked in the greeter was on the phone and actually turned her back on us to finish with person on the phone, not even an acknowledgement that we were there. I was excited to eat here, the menu looked great. We had pizza, ravioli in pomadoro, scallops, meatballs. The ravioli was so salted and peppered it was hard to eat. The Pizza was also very spicy and hot with pepper. Meatballs, salty and I didn't care for the flavor at all. so for 3 people (only one had wine) our bill was $124. NOT WORTH IT...so sorry we wasted our money here. I don't usually give bad reviews, and I am not picky but I would never recommend this to anyone The only thing that was enjoyable was the atmosphere.

This is place is on the river and Schuylkill river trail; great outdoor seating area with view of the river. The Belgian Waffle and Pepper and Egg sandwich are very good. Great service and staff. The parking lot can fill up but there is a paid lot across Ferry road; the rates are pretty reasonable.

Located in historic East Falls near Mayanunk in Philadelphia. Unique tasty pizzas. Across from river with bridges for cars and trains make for scenic urban site. Ask for outdoor terrace seating.

I was expecting just pizza. Charred octopus and wild mushroom pasta were delicious. These are smallish plates. Server was very friendly and explained menu and portions. Pizzas are thin crust and more than enough for one. A bit pricey but we were lucky to be there on Sunday with half price wine bottles. Parking lot a challenge.

Long overdue...a great place to hang out and have great food and drinks. Service was terrific as well.

We stopped here after packing up my daughter for her move to a new place. She’s been here before and we didn’t have a wait for outdoor seating. We ordered one Pepperoni pizza and one Blanco Verde pizza. Both were very good and hot. We split it between four of us. Nice place, good food.

I am a Philadelphia resident and find myself returning to In Riva over and over again and every visit is worth raving about! I also had my birthday dinner here with my family. They have very creative menu. The chicken wings were excellent! The pizza is awesome, the pastas are full of flavor and they have wonderful desserts. I cannot resist the affogato - gelato with a shot of espresso poured over it and my boyfriend loves their cannoli. A wonderful way to end a great meal. It can be very loud on the weekends - best to try a weeknight.

Passed this restaurant many times and finally stopped! We had the ricotta appetizer that was very good! Then had pizza that was excellent! My husband had the sea bass and he referred to it as a "religious experience". It was as good or better than the sea bass he had in Barcelona! This is a gem ! Will return!

My husband and I dined at In Riva around 3:30 on Saturday with another couple. They have a dinner menu that includes cheeses/meats, salads, crostinis with different spreads, small plates, pizzas, and entrees. I chose pea soup, and the burrata pizza. The pea soup was a beautful bright green color, and they poured it into my bowl at the table. It was fresh and delicious, but a little too salty. The burrata pizza was delicious! It had cauliflower, golden raisins, pine nuts, and capers on it. Sounds weird, but it was soooo good! My husband had the meatballs and the olive oil potatoes. He really liked the meatballs. I tasted them, and they tasted pretty standard to me. The olive oil potatoes were really good. Whole potatoes, a bit squished and fried, served with a chive dipping sauce. I used the sauce on my pizza crust too! The only thing I didn't like about this place was the price. Pretty expensive for the amount of food you get for some of the menu items. The other couple split the pepperonata appetizer, a pepperoni pizza, and a spicy ham pizza. It seems like they enjoyed it all. The pepperoni pizza had TONS of pepperoni on it. The spicy ham had raw jalapeños on it, and they took most of them off because it was too spicy. They have a good alcohol selection. I had the viviano cocktail, which was a peach cocktail. Light and refreshing! Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Had the salumi/formaggi and the burrata caprese with a slice of zucchini mushroom pizza (from a friends order - they do not do by the slice). The bread and pizza crust were wonderful. The toppings were fresh and well cooked. The caprese comes with pickled tomatoes which is a twist I had not had before but was delicious - I recommend the balsamic on the side. Patio was very nice for outdoor eating on a pretty day.

Great location and view of schuylkill River. Outside eating is great! Full bar with house specialty drinks. Local beers on tap. I got the sausage pizza it was good but I also got some of the apps which were great. Asparagus, great; ribs, great; onion dip with bread, great! I do recommend this location. It gets busy after 630 pm so I would suggest reservations. I will eat here again when in philly.

We got here accidentally, and LOVED it! It is officially on our foodies map. Every thing we ordered was delicious and well presented. And the PIZZA ohhhh ... A bit pricey but worth it.

Rare to find a place that close to the river that is so good. Great Pasta Pappardelle and pasta with a lobster sauce. The pizzas were even better. Alittle bit more expensive than I preferred but much better than expected so I would go back.

If you are into pizza, then this is the place for you. Other than that, even the waitress will tell you it's not much more of a menu.

The menu has lots of choices. Something that stands out at this restaurant is that the menu offers groups of three or more at a table opportunities to try several items at a slightly reduced price. An example could be, "Pasta," and the group could order three pasta dishes at a price slightly less than three people ordering three separate dishes. I think this is very clever. I liked the flavor of everything I ate. As a group of five adults and four children, we had pizzas and pastas. The pizzas were baked in a wood fired oven. Lots of attention by the servers. The glasses were filled and the plates changed. This place serves very tasty food. I have not driven in Philly very much. This place was not hard to find. There is limited parking in their lot and on-street parking available. They take reservations and can accommodate larger parties. Bar seating is available.

There were 8 of us. We ordered several appetizers and shared. They were all very tasty and several had a new twist from traditional Italian menus. Dinners were well prepared and good too. The pasta dishes and pizzas were a hit. Only complaint was the loud volume in the restaurant.

Don't let the unassuming suburban looks fool you--beneath the plain exterior and no-frills dining space beats the heart of a gourmet Italian restaurant. TIP: do the prix fixe multi-course dinner and let the waiter help you choose--you can't go wrong! Among our favorites: the broccolini appetizer--glistening oil-sheered broccolini without a trace of the bitterness, touched with pecorino; Mommy's meatballs, tender and delicious with a surprise inside; the tagliatelle pasta with strips of prosciutto and a rich but delicate sauce; the spicy chicken parmesan, a whole leg of chicken with a fresh tomato sauce spiked with chile and with an amazing stock base; and to top it off--almost too full to eat them--cannolis. YUM!

Wonderful meal. Small plates and lots of different options and courses. They encourage sharing. Four of us dined and we all tasted everything and lingered. It felt like we were in Italy! I would especially recommend the "pea soup". It was light and sweet. Definitely different.

I am a first timer. This place is so cute and cozy. Great food and great vibes. Parking. Friendly staff. Outside seating. View of the river. Diverse crowd. Very nice spot.

A charming stop just outside of Philly with some delicious pizzas complemented by a charming atmosphere and beautiful pizza. Stop by for a meal on your way in or out of Philly.

Wonderful evening on the outdoor patio at In Riva. We had wild mushroom pasta and pizzas. Very relaxing, excellent beer selection, free parking--what more could you ask for?

If you're looking for something different, but want to stay with the usual dining fare, this is a great place to try. The outdoor seating is great, there is even a separate area for pets! We let our waiter Zach make recommendations for us and he nailed it! We loved the Brocolini salad, antipasta, margarita pizza, pea soup, and chicken Parmesan! We were pleased that we visited on the 1/2 off a bottle of wine night! Will definitely be back to enjoy the fall weather for outside dining!

I booked my son's first birthday party at In Riva on a Sunday evening on the second floor of the restaurant. There were different food options and we chose the buffet option where guests were offered meats and cheeses, 2 different antipasti (Mommy's meatballs and the fried artichokes), the Riva chopped salad, and 3 different pizzas (margherita, burrata, and prosciutto and arugula). Dessert was canolis with coffee. The food was absolutely delicious! For kids, they offered a cheese or pepperoni pizza which was great since most kids are picky eaters. I loved all of the food, but I would have to say I kept going back for the meatballs, they were out of this world! The meatballs were a big hit for the guests as well. The service was outstanding, the entire staff, the servers, the bartender, and the event manager were exceptional and attentive to all of the guests. I couldn't ask for a better venue since the party went so smoothly. I would highly recommend going here to dine and for having your events here!

Small restaurant tucked away in East Falls with amazing pizza and pasta. We love to stop off there on our way home from the zoo. Highly recommend it if you're in that area.

Nice casual atmosphere. We had the whipped ricotta and the broccolini caesar, followed by the Porchetta Pizza and the Sausage and Peppers Pizza. We enjoyed it all and the service was fast and excellent. Simply put: a restaurant we intend to go to again!

While house hunting in Philadelphia we dined at this realtor recommended restaurant. Each table receives a complimentary bowl of roasted chick peas with pistachios after being seated by the attentive staff. We enjoyed the fried artichoke heart appetizer, two types of pizza and a small bowl of pasta. The pizza was fresh, baked in an authentic Italian wood burning pizza oven and tasty. The pasta was also freshly made and excellent. The noise level is high so be prepared to raise your voice.

First time here and Ashley fed two hungry ladies she was excellent she answered all my questions and made suggestions . Very attentive and service with a smile ❤️. We had the broccolini caesar salad without the ham it was different and taste excellent and the margherita pizza with the chard taste was very good . The menu is a little different but it works the place has a rustic feel I will return when in Philly

Excellent menu and divine food. Try everything! The pizza choices are outstanding. We were fortunate to be able to try the Asparagus with shaved Cheese, balsamic, etc. The zucchini pizza, the pepperoni pizza, pasta with kale and white beans, every bite, so, so good. I had trouble stopping! Very friendly wait staff. Indoor/outdoor seating. Good vibes here! Highly recommend.

I live in manayunk and just went to In Riva for the first time. Normally we go to a inner city place for good food and a fun atmosphere but this place is so close. Plus, it has a parking lot. We ordered the chef s tasting which I highly recommend doing. This way you can try a little bit of everything. Some highlights were the meatballs, jar of bruschetta, and truffle pizza. The atmosphere here is fun but be warned its a little too loud. Our service was superb. Ask for Tim. He was great

Great food, drinks & atmosphere. We had the blue crab spread sooooo flavorful. Totally Enjoyed the sausage pizza. It was happy hour & ordered the Lietti's at the waitress' suggestion and they were fabulous, so refreshing and light. Love sitting on the patio & enjoying the view.

What used to be Franco's is now In Riva. The setting is the same, with the great outdoor space overlooking the river, but the decor has been modernized and the pizza is amazing. Really, it's the best pizza I've had in the U.S. The menu is simple and everything is fresh and delicious. You can even sit at the pizza bar to watch the chefs do their thing and get some ideas about what to order on your next visit, because if you try In Riva, you will definitely be back!

Thank you to Dawn (manager) and the rest of the staff, especially our servers, for accommodating our large party. We called a few days in advance for a party of 20 and Dawn took great care of us. Our group size changed from 20 to thirty then back to a final count of 24. This is a large party for a quaint and very popular restaurant but they made it work for us. In addition to a great atmosphere, the food was awesome. Even though we didn’t eat outside, the patio would be a great spot to sit. They even have a special eating area for you to enjoy drinks and food with your dog.

Approximately 40 members of our family gathered in the upstairs party room to celebrate our Uncle's 98th Birthday. The staff were very accommodating with all our comings and goings and the children running around. The pre-ordered menu was excellent and offered good variety, bruchettas, salad, variety of pizza, ravioli, meatballs, canaloni and champagne to toast the Party Boy. Since we arrived early, we had a drink at the downstairs bar......their Bloody Mary was the best I've had. Not only a thick mixture, but it was topped with an antipasta toothpick with a pepper, olive, cheese cube, pepperoni slice all topped with Pesto! Very cleaver and delicious.

A friend took me to this gem of a restaurant after a late night movie in Manyaunk. Nice to see a young and mixed crowd late on a Saturday night, dining outside and in. Restaurant is open till 11 PM. The pizzas are amazing, with a thin crust and the tomato sauce is one of the best! Sorry to say we just had pizzas because there was a lot to choose from, including fried artichokes. Did they offer them Roman style or a laJudea? I will have to come back and find out. Very nice atmohere with the owner present and actively involved. Will definitely return, now that I know it's here in this East Falls (?) neighborhood.

Fourteen of us had a wonderful post-wedding luncheon here. Service was good, food delicious. In fact, one guest who had been to Italy recently, said that the food was better than what she had there. Bruschetta, meatballs, pizza, cannoli and more were on the menu and everyone was impressed. Great choice for celebrating any occasion with family and friends!

Who ever heard of gnudi. Well now I have! Wood fired pizza was really good. Wine was a little pricey. Don't look for Spaghetti and Meatballs or a Meatlovers Pizza.

Perfect Location with a parking lot. The owner made it so easy to order and give credit information over the phone. Convenient and wait time is minimal for order. Our food was delicious. Everything we have had between the pizzas and salad and pasta have been exceptional! Support this great local business.

Met a friend on a warm spring day. I really like their outdoor dining set up. There is a busy street, but also the bicycle path and river. Inside seemed a little dark. The parking was tight! My girlfriend eats here many times so I let her order. I was not disappointed! I was very pleased with every dish they brought out. First of all I will highly recommend the tomato conserva as an appetizer. This was so good!!! Served in a pot and it was a very flavorful, with a little spice, tomato spread on delicious bread! Next time I will try to whipped ricotta! We split a salad which was plenty for the two of us. The choices are unique. I like that! I can make myself a green salad at home. These salads had personality! (and delicious feta!) The we split a pizza. The crust was very thin and very crispy. Delicious! We enjoyed our wine, took our time, plenty of food (even took some home) so I was pleased with the price for the amount and quality of the food. very nice waitstaff! Looking forward to going again!

We had 4 antipasti today; tomato conserva, charred octopus with cherry mostarda and crispy lemon, crispy artichokes with black olive and lemon yogurt, and sticky pork ribs. I had a beer and my spouse had a specialty cocktail, Lusiani. Amazing flavors! We've been there for great pizza and salads, also. The service is friendly and professional. It was a beautiful afternoon and we ate outside. The establishment is friendly to people on bikes with a bike rack out front; a separate area to eat if you walk in with your dog. We love to cook and enjoy dining on dishes we would not easily make at home. Great meal!

Pure luck in finding this place, we were visiting from out of town and biked past it on a beautiful bike trail (the "bikes & beer") sign can be seen from the trail). Great pizza, and all of the non-pizza items we had were top-notch -- not just a "pizza joint" but real Italian restaurant quality. The interior was decorated with a bike theme generally and the entire experience was a great surprise.

My friend recommended In Riva to us because she knows we love Italian food, craft beer and cycling, and NEVER was there a place to marry all three until now! We were amazed by the selection of premium craft beers from Italy, amazing homemade pizza and gnocchi and delicious homemade desserts. The cycling theme is right up my husband's alley, as well. The staff couldn't be more accommodating, knowledgeable or friendly. We will absolutely return with friends and family and spread the word about this hidden Philly gem!

OK i have to admit, this place has been so many restaurants, that when our friend said lets go to this new pizza place, i was like pizza? really?. Then we found it was the place we has been to over and over each time a different owner. BUT WHAT A SURPRISE! So we have been back three time in the last week since. Is that recommendation enough? Great staff, amazing appetizers, and yes thin crust wood fired pizza. This place is in my top five of pizza restaurants. REALLY. GO! DJ

Seriously could not make up our minds because everything sounded so good! Went with the whipped ricotta, Greek salad and charred octopus - everything was so unique and delicious! Our server, Sabine, was excellent ... great suggestions and service. We will definitely be back, want to try many more items

In Riva is a fun place to go with friends so you can share lots of different dishes. The broccolini Caesar salad was absolutely delicious, as was the roasted asparagus. We ordered the pork Ragu pasta; yum! The 2 pizzas, goat cheese and pesto and the burrato were both very good, although I would have liked the crust to be crispier. Noise level is high, so beware! Prices are pretty fair for the portion sizes. We were 5 people and there was plenty to go around. All in all, a really good meal.

Wonderful menu that is easy to manage but offers interesting diversity. Great ambiance that has an urban feel without compromising intimacy. Attentive staff well informed on flavors and portion sizes. The chef shows a clear bias towards finding ways to add creativity to ordinary dishes from the pea soup (a great presentation), cheese and salami board (wonderful starter), antipasta (whipped ricotta is a wow and perfect to share), pasta and pizza (the crust is special). Reasonably priced, easy parking, the kind of place you want to introduce to friends.

I'm obsessed with In Riva and would eat there all the time if I could! The pizzas are delicious (the Brussels sprout one is my favorite), the arugula salad is to die for, and there is some sort of lentil/chickpea salad that is so flavorful!!!! - I keep having it and then going home and trying to replicate it - haven't managed to yet... I'm so happy to have In Riva as part of the East Falls neighborhood!

Was so excited to try this spot - outdoor dining overlooking Kelly Drive and the Schuylkill River. Menu looks awesome but, wow! Salty! And I love my salt. So if I thin it's salty, can't imagine what others would think. Plus, no kids menu or even a grilled chicken breast. Won't be going back anytime soon. Bummer.

My group ordered multiple items and shared, and we were all impressed. We tried three different kinds of pizza and a few of the pasta entrees, as well as the octopus and whipped ricotta appetizers, and the cannoli assortment. The food was outstanding, and our waitress did an excellent job too. I recommend this restaurant very much.

Good service. When the weather good, siting outside is the best. You can enjoy watching the river. Good pizza as well.

This restaurant has a limited menu and for you pizza lovers no substitutions. The restaurant has an urban warehouse feel and a large patio for dining outside in good weather. There is a happy hour on the deck. There are good cheese spreads in pots and you can not go wrong making meal of the various appetizers,The artichokes are delicious. Wine selection is fair but there are a number of beers available and the bar-tenders generally make a good mixed drink The menu does change every few months so a pizza you loved might not be there..So commuters on the drive home stop in or go on a summer night to enjoy the view. There is take out which I am doing tonight. Parking can be tight. There is a parking lot, however, across the street is public parking lot which does have space. Yes put money n to avoid a ticket.

We drove by this restaurant countless times but never went in. We were absolutely missing out. Food was top notch fine dining quality but in a casual atmosphere and a great value. We will definitely be back soon!

This place is good if you are looking for outdoor seating in the East Falls area of Philadelphia. Great river front location. The food and drinks are extremely pricey and just OK. Portions are very small and the pizza is eh... The only plus to this is the location, great after a run or biking along the trail

A neighborhood gem in East Falls section of the city, overlooking river along Kelly Drive. Great outdoor dining options that include shaded seating and full bar. Casual and fun. We had the whipped ricotta spread with carmelized onions and classic Margherita pizza as an appetizer. Definitely try the chicken parmigiana and ravioli with edamame and crab meat! Try the Lietti cocktail and Sangria - refreshing and tasty for a warm summer day. Locally owned and operated, In Riva is top notch.

Four of us went for dinner and all of us enjoyed it. The salads are definitely made for two to share. There are a variety of sharable dishes, including a delicious crab ravioli. Service was very good, and outside dining is available.

I stopped here on a Saturday afternoon with 2 friends after a long bike ride. A very bike friendly place with a good beer and wine selection. As we were tired and a bit pressed for time we just shared a very good white fontina, mushrooms, and truffle oil pizza and afew beers. On Kelly dr. with a nice view of the Schuylkill. Good stop.

Heading into Center Philly avoiding Interstate 76 due to traffic and a need for a late lunch. At end of exit ramp saw this restaurant with a packed parking lot (a good sign) and luckily found a spot. Ended up having the best lunch experience! Great menu, delicious lunch, and wonderful staff all along the picturesque Schuyikill River. Perfect! We had a broccolini salad with prosciutto, a spicy sausage and pepper pizza, and ended with a mixed flavor trio of mini cannoli. Yummy!

Three of us ate there on a Saturday and were made to feel lucky to get a table. On the phone they said it would be an hour and a half and we when we walked in, we sat right down. The menu was interesting and the pizzas and salads were fine. The other patrons seemed happy and the restaurant had a nice vibe. All of this sounds like a 4-dot rating, but we just can't. I would not run back, but if was fine.

In Riva is indeed by the river and the outdoor tables and bar have a view of the Schuykill River and the East River Drive. The menu is short, but apt: ten pizzas, as many pastas and a handful of salads and entrees. Their cooking is right on-target and their tomato sauce could be a textbook for students of the form. The craft beer list is small and the Italian imports are pricey. The best deal is on Wednesday when bottles of wine are half-price. We had a ripe and yummy Aglianico (Rocca del Dragone) for $26.

We stopped by In Riva during the hours in between lunch & dinner... we were hungry and just wanted to grab a quick bite to tide us over until dinner! I wish we had stayed for dinner too! The margarita pizzas we ordered were delicious, thin, airy crust with fabulous cheese and fresh basil! The Ricotta Whip was OUT OF THIS WORLD BRILLIANT!!! I highly recommend it! They also had the best lemon & mint cocktail! Five out of five stars!

We have eaten here five times - the good was very good to excellent each time. If you like thin-wood-crust-almost-burnt pizza like we do, this is the place for you. The salads were also excellent - very fresh We've had the ricotta appetizer also which was very good. In the warmer weather outside seating watching the river is very nice. I also felt the service was excellent from the hostess welcoming us back to every server we've had.

My son and I stopped at In Riva for lunch Saturday afternoon. We had cycled to the city from Valley Forge and were on our way back. We had a couple of beers and split the Soppressata pizza. The beers were refreshing (it was a warm day on the trail) and pizza was really good, especially with the onion jam. I will be back with my wife next time!

...about this hidden (not really) gem. In Riva has a great menu with Antipasti, Pizza's, and Pastas. We were so pleased with our experience here that we often tell friends about this place even when they aren't looking for Italian food. Cool atmosphere with a well trained and attentive staff. The combinations of food items in the dishes just works so well. I highly recommend the Mushroom and Zucchini pizza as well as Tomato Conserva.

Don’t close the bathroom door all the way from the inside. There is no handle and you will have to grab the bottom of the door to get out. The manager said this isn’t a problem. Amazing!

We had a excellent meal after coming across this restaurant following an afternoon of canvassing for Hillary Clinton and Katie McGinty the Sunday before the election. Amazing antipasti (fried artichokes, meatballs, roasted tomato bruschetta), pasta (especially the bucatini) and pizzas. With a beautiful riverside setting, a great beer selection, and attentive service, hard to find fault in the place.

Consistent and wonderful food and service. I've never had something here that I didn't LOVE. The pizza is wonderful and the chicken parm is my favorite. The Lieti (spelling) is my favorite summer drink and their desserts are always worth it. I bring my dog and we sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and the river view. Definitely recommend.

If you are looking for something a little different from your run of the mill pizza restaurant this is it, Very interesting variety of handmade wood-burned pizza. A little over priced but worth it, Service was friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed an excellent meal here on an uncommonly warm late September day. Every dish our small group ordered was delicious: a roasted asparagus appetizer, two pasta entrees and cannollis for dessert. Service was prompt, friendly, very nice sitting on the terrace with the view of the river. Price was a little expensive, but we would dine here again to try other dishes on the menu.

This is my second time visiting. We always have appetizers and a pizza. The service is quick and the waitress was very pleasant.

Great food, service and views. We biked along the river and earned the delicious meatballs we ate. Highly recommend.

I teach at a university near In Riva and it's great to have such a wonderfully, deliciously consistent experience every time I go. The salads are outstanding - anywhere that puts fresh anchovies on an escarole caesar is aces with me. The pizzas are the big standout here. If you're there on Tuesday, be sure to check their FB page for the password and order one of the 1/2 price pies. My favorite is the spicy pistachio one. Also gotta love the "Pizza and Puppies" area with picnic benches and lots of good holes for Fido to continue digging. All in all, great place!

In Riva has very good & excellent pizza. I took my children there for their birthdays and both enjoyed the food immensely. My daughter has allergies to dairy & many other things so the chef made her a unique dairy free pizza with veggies & beef. She said she has never had better. He also made her a wonderfully fresh veggie appetizer. My pizza was over the top in its richness--too fatty to be truly enjoyed called the Burrata. The mozzarella was infused (with fat?) & it was simply overly decadent. I should have ordered a simple margherita pie like my nephew. It was excellent. One member of our party ordered a pizza with broccoli rabe which was adored. Our server was very attentive and anticipated our desires. My only quibble is that I believe In Riva would benefit from having more umbrellas on the outside patio. If ypou our your child has allergies this place ay work for your family. If you are a foodie? Ditto.

Very cheerful (maybe a bit too loud indoors) restaurant with great outdoor seating. Crispy pizza is perfect for 2. Hard to pick just 1. Dinner special 3 pastas for 1 price is a fantastic way for 2-6 people to become completely stuffed. Go for variety--all are great. Reasonable wine list, lots of beer too.

The food is beautifully-presented nothing. Full of bells and whistles but no substance. Menu selection is limited. Just overpriced pasta dishes and pizza with fancy-sounding names. The pasta dishes have hardly any pasta in them, about a hand-full. My "glass" of wine was only one quarter full, and when I complained, they refused to do anything. The roast chicken was a decent size but a bit dry and gamey tasting. No sides or bread served with meal. Despite spending over $30, I left hungry. In short, the entire operation is nothing more than a money-making ripoff. Bring your money, but leave hungry.

how many times have i passed by In Riva and thought...pizza, nah!..was i ever wrong...lovely saturday afternoon...though the river was brown and muddy, the atmosphere on the lovely deck was uplifting and lively...i ordered the beef carpaccio pizza...crust thin and crispy, thin slices of the beef melted in and covered with fresh, green arugula...my date ordered a potato caesar that i wanted to snatch from him, it looked like an angel had prepared it...he also had the hangar steak small plate which he enjoyed, but did not care for the thinly sliced cucumbers with chili sauce...he does not like spicy, and passed them on to me..the service was friendly and timely..everyone working there seemed to be in good spirits....so very glad i decided to stop in..definitely not my last visit....scrumptious indeed!

Pasa and pasta both very tasty. Quick and pleasant service. Pasta portion on the small side but good.

My wife, Father-in-law and I were on our way to see my nieces cheer competition at Philadelphia University and we stumbled upon In Riva. We had a fantastic lunch here. This is a charming restaurant in Fairmont Park on the Schuylkill River in Phila. The restaurant and outdoor patio are nicely designed. There is also a nice fenced in outdoor area for dog owners and their dogs to eat on picnic tables. The open kitchen has a nice brick oven. The bar area is extensive. Service was excellent. Our waiter described the unique menu and all of different items. We shared 2 brick oven pizzas and each ordered split pea soup. The pizzas were excellent; margarita and pepperoni. The split pea soup was amazing. It was a different twist on split pea soup. We had an amazing lunch!!! There are two good parking options. Three cheers for In Riva!!!!

I love In Riva! Their pizzas are so unique and delicious. The service is excellent and very friendly and helpful. We have always had a good experience here and will go back again I'm sure!

My boyfriend and I have been driving by this place for over a year and a half. It always looked great but now I can say it really is great! Better than great! We finally got a chance to try it last Saturday with another couple we were ALL amazed wonderful food, great service with a well informed not over solicitous staff, and a wonderful setting especially this time of year outdoors on the back deck over looking Kelly Drive. We ordered the crab bruschetta, yukon gold potatoes with fontina cheese and bacon jamand mom's meatballs, to start . We shared all of this delightful small plates. They were all outstanding the potatoes are sinful but delicious! My boyfriend who is a major foodie thought they were the best meatballs he has ever tasted the flash fried sage leaves on top take it to a whole new level! Second course-The rest of the group ordered to brick oven pizza's to share which they all said was amazing. I had the small plate branzino which was superb plenty of fish well seasoned crispy skin on the outside moist inside with marinated artichokes so good! I also had a wonderful cocktail the name escapes me but it was pink grapefruit juice vodka and mint really light and refreshing on a warm day. All in all our meal was a true Philly homerun!!!

We were just drinking big the river and we stop by this restaurant. We order a pizza with mushrooms and zucchini and beet salad. It was wonderful! We strongly recommend the place.

We decided to try this place because they welcome bikes and after a long bike ride along Kelly drive this was perfect for lunch. They have a place for you to lock your bike and a nice patio with outdoor seating. Perfect setting on a beautiful fall day. We ordered the meat and cheese for starters and it was excellent the prosciutto and finocchiona was very tasty as well as the cheese offerings the mustard sauce and baby onions made incredible toppings. this was by far the best part of the meal. The burrato pizza with the spinach and onions was good. Service was great too. Can't wait to return.

When I called to ask if a reservation was needed for dinner, the hostess said I could book to sit inside but it's first come, first served for the river view outside. The "View": a dark highway below with cars speeding by, under an elevated highway. You'd think whoever answers the phone would say the river is NOT visible at night. ALERT: This place serves NO entrees, only small plates. The prices seem low, until the disproportionately small portions arrive. At those prices I could have gone to an elegant restaurant that serves proper entrees, with professional service. The Grilled Octopus was smothered in a heavy sauce that totally masked the octopus flavor. The linguini and pizzas were OK, but I've had better in New York and New Jersey.

Went here with some friends for pizza and enjoyed it. Great interior and a very comfortable but smallish space that's been very well designed. It has nice views of the river if you're able to get an outdoor table. The pizza came out soon after we ordered and the crust was very smokey (in a good way) with fresh toppings. 1 pizza feeds 1-2 people. We would definitely return. The topping options were good but not as extensive as I had originally hoped. Definitely recommend.

OK let me preface what I'm going to say by stating this is a lovely place in an idyllic setting on the Kelly Drive with outdoor seating that makes it extra special. If I'm going to write a review, it's going to be a detailed synopsis, because, let's face it, most of us do not have money to burn. First off, don't let the semi full parking fool you, it's mostly staff.Secondly, I was , ugh, greeted by the hostess, after about 10 min as she was on the phone and finally she said sit anywhere. There were only 2 other tables with people at 4pm so the server again, reiterated to " sit any where, I'll follow you." Also, Is it this younger generation or is it me, but can you try cracking a half smile and try to be a little enthusiastic as your demeanor as well as your service decides my tip. I ordered ice tea, no alcohol and a glass of water. One straw was delivered with the tea and no lemon! Water had no ice, no straw. Now I might seem to be nick picking here, but even though I'm ordering a pizza for 17 dollars, I would still like the luxury of the amenities of lemon and a straw, otherwise I could have ordered delivery for my TV program and convenience. About the pizza.....I ordered pizza with porchetta, roast pork and spinach. Although the dough was excellent, the toppings tasted weird. I only ate 2 slices of the whole pie and I was hungry. The porchetta was mostly fat, I couldn't make out the kind of cheese used, and there were these very thin strips of red, which I guess were pepper slices. The pizza had an odd vinegar taste. I asked for a box for the rest of the pizza and went home. When I got home, to my suprise, when I went to put the pizza away, there were sesame seeds on the pizza. I don't know how I missed this at the restaurant, but it was a very sunny day. Now sesame seeds might not seem a big deal, but the last time I had them 3 years ago, it sent me to a hospital with a ruptured appendix and I left with minus the right side of my colon. You see I have a little condition called diverticulitis. Had the menu description said sprinkled with sesame seeds, I definitely would not have ordered it! So now as I write this review, I pray and p--p, I do not have another hospital stay. Things like seeds, nuts, eggs, shellfish, etc. Should be listed. Who the h--- puts sesame seeds on pizza????

First time to In Riva. We went as a group of six for brunch. One person had been here before and mentioned that portions were large but everyone ordered their own dish and most all of the plates were empty at the end. I had the Arugula and mushroom salad. I agree that it was large and could have been shared but that was all I was having. It had a great taste and was filling. Everyone else enjoyed their food. The pepper and egg sandwich looked very interesting with a long hot right on the eggs. The waiter was very attentive. Noise level was good but there were not many people near where we were inside (lots of folks outside). There is limited parking at the restaurant but a lot across the street. I would definitely recommend and will be back at some point.

Too much salt, too much sugar, too much oil, limp pizza crust... Too bad since the atmosphere is all right, but I need to have good food in a restaurant, that's how it is.

The Hostess greeted us and was very friendly. Our server was excellent. I have to point out that after reading so many good reviews about their grilled calamari, I was determined to give it a try. Well, it was very good; however, the portion that I received was quite disappointing. On this evening, all portions were small. I ordered a pizza on the way home

My hubby & I have driven past this a number of times today we stopped & are we glad we did! What a great place inside & out. It was a perfect day to sit on the patio & enjoy the view of Kelly Dr & the River. We ordered the sausage & pepper it was delish! Our server Rebecca was so sweet, attentive & knowledgable. Can't wait to go back and try something else, the menu is filled with great selections.

Nice little pub with a great attitude. The is a bar and lots of tables in this tucked away place. We had mommas meatballs for starters and they were good. Followed by a pizza for two. Toppings were kale and onions. Pretty good too. Then the espresso poured over gelato. A little strong for me but the flavor was nice.

In Riva is an Italian restaurant, which serves southern Italian cuisine and cooks their pizza napoletana style, (which is using a wood fire oven to cook the pizza) I sadly didn't have a chance to try anything other than their pizza. We picked two pizzas that sounded appetizing to us, and we ended up with the Sausage and Peppers pizza, and the Polpette pizza, which is described as meatballs, feta and scallion aggrodolce (sweet and sour sauce) This pizza was interesting, but flavorful and satisfying. I also ordered the whipped ricotta, which was served with toasted bread to smear the ricotta on. The ricotta turned out to be a clever play on an onion dip, with caramelized onions and a slightly sour flavor. The Sausage pizza was easily one of the top 3 pizzas I've had in my life, the sausage was flavorful and tender, the sauce was spicy and the vegetables still had a bite to them. The good thing about In Riva is that if you are following them on Twitter, they tweet a password every Tuesday for ½ pizzas, trust me, it's worth it.

Decor, meh. Servive meh. Strange Ceasar salad, meh. Total vibe, meh. Bartender, meh. Pizza is good. But I can get good pizza lots of places. Meh. Had to ask for condiments and more water.

Pizza here is fantastic! I get my nails done at Koco Nails across the street (great place! make sure you check it out). Afterwords I often come here for the happy hour specials. The pizza is always amazing I've tried so many different types and they never disappoint. Service is always fast, helpful and efficient whether at the table or bar. I love their salads and small plates. I was so disappointed when they took the hanger steak off of the menu but they have lots of other great options. The patio is perfect for those nice days and the drink specials are well-crafted and tasty. Be sure to sign up for emails to get special pricing on Tuesdays & Wednesdays

Food was delicious! The service staff was excellent. The waitress was very helpful advising us which items were large enough for sharing.

As you travel north on drive, this gem is tucked back near the falls bridge. Had delicious thin crust pizza. Salad was large enough to share. Tasty! The atmosphere is cozy with unique lighting. Can't wait to go back & dine on terrace overlooking the river. Forget our server's name but he is a student just back from Hawaii . He was helpful, fun, informative & non-intrusive. A plus is parking!

This restaurant was quite the surprise because of its unusual (though not at all bad) location near the Falls Bridge, and the reasonable prices on the menu. Very lively spot with completely eclectic customer base. But this was Not the usual tired, red-or-white sauce Italian. Exceptionally flavorful dishes. Started with Arugula and beet salad, and a cheese plate, and a novel bruschetta called tomato Conserva that was excellent. Papardelle with little chicken meatballs and pine nuts, and another dish with pasta and scallop in a light sauce was terrific. And at $100 for four people (before wine + tip) great pricepoint. Will be back!

Franco's sits very close to the Schuylkill river and outdoor dining offers a nice setting with the trail and river close by. The italian food is delicious here and makes it one of the best places to eat in East Falls.

Stopped there for a small bite after a good biking trip The place is friendly, they have good pizza and very friendly staff

Stumbled upon this gem whilst walking the Kelly Drive Loop. The Spicy Chicken Meatball Parpadelle was seriously delicious! The pasta was perfectly cooked and tasted freshly home made whilst the fresh green chilis gave it a great kick. The marghertia pizza was as it should be with a great thin crust and fresh basil on top. The bloody mary's looked really good too.

Want to experience Italian ingredients and dishes in a novel way? We were incredibly surprised and hugely pleased with every taste that came from In Riva's kitchen last night. Stephanie, our server was friendly and very knowledgeable about the ingredients and presentations of the entire menu. That was a big help to us on this, our first visit. Our party of six had a most enjoyable celebration, and we will definitely return! Make reservations. Casual attire. Lively but cozy atmosphere. A delight!

had dinner with friends at In Riva and really enjoyed everything..nice happy hour prices..followed by more pizza, good grilled octopus and delicious pea soup..sat at the pizza bar and enjoyed watching the process...real good service as well. miss the deck that was in use in warm weather, but In Riva is a wonderful addition to the scene..they do pastas now, but i haven't got to them yet......but i will

Stopped at this cute place. I liked the ambience, and the wood-fired pizzas were delicious. They serve the pizzas on top of empty large tomatoe cans.

Letting the chef decide what you will eat may sound scary, but give it a try. We went for 3 courses with wine pairing. Tons of food with plenty to take home. For the appetizer course, they brought out 6 items from the menu, all served family style. Much more than we expected. For the main course, 2 pastas and 2 pizzas. Then cannoli for dessert, 3 flavors. We were stuffed. They also offer a 5 course option. Take along an adventurous crew to try the 3 course meal. You won't be disappointed.

What a great selection and style of eating superbly created treats, from wonderfully inventive spreads to antipasti to pizzas. Homemade pasta on my next visit! Wood fired asparagus was a standout! Well, it all was a standout! A large and busy establishment that brings it all together.

The Pizza is Amazing. The atmosphere is perfect and if you sit on the deck it's a great riverside experience. This is a must try for locals and tourists alike.

went to In Riva after a college graduation. Got a table for 6 outside. Awesome spot! Food was great as was the service. Pizza'a are great and pasta portions a little on the small side. Will be back again

Hubby & I visited many times. Finally decided to try pizza. Picked our waitress' favorite-zucchini with mushrooms. Hubby loved it! The meatballs are a favorite as are the pots of deliciousness! We've sat inside & out which is pleasant on a nice day. It can get a little noisy to n a busy evening. Staff has always been pleasant.

Philly is a great food town and a great beer town but often the twain don't meet. Great restaurants often have good wine lists but lag behind on their craft beer offers. Good brew pubs usually offer hamburgers fried things, greasy things and other foods that go straight to your thighs or belly. In Riva is a newish Italian place on Kelly Drive that has both good beer and a great section of creative food offerings and excellent wood fired pizza. The staff is friendly and well informed and willing to learn more. And an additional seasonal plus - outdoor seating with a view of the river. We had the crispy artichoke app with olives and lemon yogurt and a superb brocolli rabe and ricotta pizza and some delicious Belgian-style beer. It's a great neighborhood lunch or dinner place and kid-friendly as well.

Another lovely lunch at In Riva where we find the food to be consistently good with excellent service. They also make the most of their riverside location and are very bike friendly. All in all an great place to head to from Center City.

I live in this area and I have seen this location go through different make-overs, but it seems that In Riva is sticking and staying & why you may ask - because the Food and Service are Top Notch!! It's a great place to check out when you can sit outside and take advantage of the scenery on Kelly Drive. The food is tasty and the Pizza's are one of the best items on the menu. They are cooked in a wood fire oven. The have good beer on tap and the wine offerings are pretty good as well. The speciality cocktails are named after cyclists...nice touch. The staff are friendly and courteous and I like the prompt attention of the servers and the knowledge of the menu items. My Tip: Happy Hour is cool and 1/2 off beers.

I went for dinner and it was a very cool atmosphere with quite a bit of outdoor seating. The beer selection was very good, although the majority were bottles. The food is tapas-esque. We had a couple pastas which were unique but just okay. The pizzas were much better, while the cannoli soft dessert were once again just okay.

After waiting for 10+ minutes for someone to take our drink order, we walked out. And, the place was not busy at all: no one dining inside and only about 5 tables occupied outside. What was the staff doing?? And the menu is written in fractured Italian. We couldn't understand it, and my dining partner was Italian! High prices for dishes that sound like they mostly contain cheese and bread. Other reviewers have commented on the small portions, but we didn't stick around long enough to offer an opinion. The place does have a view of the Schuylkill River, but you're looking across a very busy road (Kelly Drive) for about 500 feet to the water.

Saw this spot while biking on the trail. Great find! Relaxing outdoor setting with excellent service. Pizza and homemade gnocchi were delicious. Highly recommend.

Traveling to Philly to meet friends who live there and this was the best local knowledge beside FDR Skate Park they shared. Some unique apps followed by really good and interesting pizza choices. Some real good beer choices if not too many. The pepperoni pizza way different and outstanding than any I have tried. Margarita and Pesto choices we also very good. We sat inside since a surprise 70 degree Feb day had outside on the river full. The only improvement I think they can make and many restaurants starting to make this mistake. Do not use heavy bleach cleaning the floors. For entire meal I smelled cleaning products versus aroma from the wood burning pizza ovens. We all like clean but please take it easy on those strong cleaners.

This place was a fantastic surprise, that was worth driving out of the city for. I knew the deck would be a fun spot to sit with friends, I wasn't prepared for just how good the food was. This is a perfect brunch spot if you are running or biking Kelly Drive or the Wissahickon. Really friendly, super tasty -would recommend to anyone!

Service looks like they had a bad night out before they got to work. Drinks took long getting to the table.
I want the entire menu!
Great ambience, nice service. Such a unique menu, I wanted to try everything! The charred octopus is out of this world!👍🏻
