I was booked on a bus tour on the same street as this and had a 45 mins wait before it set off, I was a bit peckish so popped in here while I waited. It's very cool and lovely yo sit outside in the gardens. There is a pretty good snack menu and a good happy hour drinks menu. I chose a vegetable focaccia and French fries which came quickly and was very tasty. That and a wine can't to just under $15 which I thought was very reasonable considering it's prime location. If you've got longer to spend here you could have a few games of Jenga! The staff are nice and friendly too.

The happy hour specials are great. The atmosphere was great. Our server was great but the girl who delivered our food was less than friendly. Other than that, it was very good and I would go back.

A very cool spot across the street from the Liberty Bell with local beer on draught and delicious cocktails. Try the grapefruit fizz-- it will not disappoint!

Overlooking the Liberty Bell, this is a fun retreat from tourist activities, or daily life for locals. There are a few bars within the property, lots of seating, and fun games to play. Jenga games, shuffleboard, ping pong, and more. There is a fire pit for when the weather gets cold. They can pack in a crowd, but due to the layout it does not feel cramped.

The Independence Beer Garden is a great place to stop for a drink and snack if your in the area or spending the day at the National Park. It's outdoor location between and around buildings is unique and appealing. The staff was outstanding and attentive. The games of skill and chance are all around and make the time fly. Stop by and enjoy, their house brew from Yards brewery is great. Thanks!

You feel at your club with thousands of friends. from babies to olders. outdoor games, basic food, snacks, sandwiches, beer, drinks. amazing! an outdoor pub for all the family

While we visited on a day in late October and the weather was perfect, we were told this place is really going during the summer months. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. The servers were great, there were games to play, i.e.., shuffle board, bag toss, jenga. A wonderful find!

While on a day tour of Philadelphia, my wife and I stopped at the Independence Beer Garden. The ambiance is amazing. I could sit here for a drink any day. If the bar were removed it would definitely be a romantic wedding venue. The way they have landscaped makes you feel as though you are in a private garden. Iron structures are assembled around the perimeter and cross beamed overhead with nautical steel rope providing an impressive artistic flare. I just want to bring this place back to my home city and open up shop.

Well me and my wife went on a Sunday night and the atmosphere was good. There is parking at a garage like across from this place to eat and it is reasonably priced for being in the city. Me and my wife ordered the feta, watermelon, and cherry tomato salad and really enjoyed it. We were a little disappointed as it didn't have the mint leaves in it as was on the menu. Next we had the wings and they were good. They had just enough crunch and were not dried out. Their ranch sauce was good and it tasted like it was homemade. They also give you a buffalo sauce on the side to dip them in. We also ordered the cheese curds. The cheese was good, but we were not impressed with the crust. Everything out the door including tip was less than $40.

Nice outside experience with some good choices of food and beer. Nice waitstaff. Good place to stop by while visiting the City.

Even though my group is in their 50's (and most of the crowd there are in their 30's) we had a fab time. We headed straight to the back of the "bar" towards the open area where there is a smaller bar that had no line and no crowd. We quickly met some people and enjoyed casual conversation and had a great time. There is ping pong and shuffle board to play, music, etc. Just a really fun place.

We came to find IBG on complete accident but we are so happy that we did. We had so much fun playing the different games that were available, I.e. ping pong, corn hole etc. We had the cheese steak and pulled pork sliders and both were delicious and reasonably priced. They also had a great selection of beer. Very cool atmosphere, definitely recommend for a low-key summer outing.

Make this a stop for a few beers and lunch, then sit awhile and people watch and drink more beers. Heard about it from a local and it does not disappoint.

I like to sit outside and drink so I like this place. It is spacious and you can play games and hang out in big groups. It is perfect for a fun night out drinking with friends. Food is decent for bar food. It can get very very crowded so I would not go there for a quiet drinking night or to really get to spend quality time with someone or get to know them.

After going to the terminal to find out it was closed and not a lot of choices we stopped at the beer garden. It was crazy busy but our family of four found a table shared with others. Service was okay. food was good as we had waygu hot dog. the kids enjoyed the mac and cheese but we were starving after watching the parade. prices were fair.

They have about 20 different draft beers, including a large local selection, on top of a dozens or so bottled beers. It's right on independence mall, but you do end up looking at the back of the liberty bell building. The atmosphere isn't a traditional german beer garden. It's a weird industrial take on it.

Came here for the first time this past Saturday. Several bar options to get drinks from. Prices are reasonable and inexpensive. Food choices are limited but are delicious. Several activities to choose from such as Jenga, Ping pong, and connect four to name a few.. Reminded me of Morgan's Pier without the river views but better crowd. For the ladies.. Bathroom line can be long but only for a short while, attendant made sure it kept moving. Overall a great place to hang with friends.

We stopped here after a long day of sight seeing. We were exhausted and just wanted to relax before a drive home. They had great drink specials and offered several happy hour specials. They have a small food selection and we were surprised at how inexpensive the food was! The bartenders were very personable and the environment was fun and relaxing. Would definitely go again.

A group of four of us stopped here on a saturday afternoon for some beer. The location is great and it is huge. Oversize connect-four and cornhole is played in several different locations. there are also a bank of tvs which are great for watching sports. We got some popcorn and pretzel bites to snack on. The popcorn was good but stale. You could tell that if it were fresher it would have been delicious. While I did not try them, the other three people raved about the pretzel bites. (in fact they ate them all before I could get one!) My only real complaint about the place was their beer selection. You would would expect a beer garden, especially a massive on like this, to have a better beer selection. There were maybe 15 beers offered and none of them particularly good. Overall, great spot, good snacks, underwhelming beer selection.

Just ate lunch here with a coworker. I had to head back to work, so I didn't have any cocktails, but I did have a delicious Arnold Palmer. My coworker ordered the mahi-mahi tacos, and I got the shrimp BLT with a side of fried pickles. Everything was amazing! I would definitely eat here again. The only caveat was that my coworker's food was served way before mine was, so she was done and had to wait for me to finish eating.

We went but they were letting in so many people there was no place to sit.. We walked around looking for a place, but ended up leaving.

We passed this place on a Saturday evening and it was packed! We decided to visit on the Sunday evening when it was quiet and we could get seats at the bar. There was a good range of draft beers and the food portions were huge. It was great to chill out, drink beer and look across at the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall.

Location is great, across from the Liberty Bell. Plenty of seating. Games to play, Jenga, checkers, bean bag toss and probably a few others. Festive atmosphere. Beer should have been colder. Bathrooms a little dirty. Attendants working for tips (remember to carry $ingle$). Pitchers of beer $15+.

Be warned that if you are a foreigner, you will not be allowed in using your local driver's license. We had a large area reserved for post wedding rehearsal drinks, and the bride had even called the venue to let them know most folks had international driver's licenses as IDs. When we arrived at the door, coming straight from a lovely rehearsal dinner, anyone without a US driver's license was told they would need to go back to their hotel to retrieve their passport as foreign driver's licenses were not an acceptable form of ID. We asked to speak to the manager who even told us she would not do anything and tried to tell us this is the "law" which is factually incorrect. In the end, roughly 30 of us ended leaving to go to a much more accomodating and welcoming venue. I might add that my international friends have never had any other issue at another venue using a foreign driver's license, and that I, myself, have never been told my NY driver's license was not "good enough" in another country! AWFUL- you are located in an international city and need to get your act together!

Nice beer garden across the street from Independence National Park. Beers were somewhat expensive but not overly so. Great variety overall. Service was ok. In an excellent location.

Good beer list. Didn't get a chance to try any food but it's in kind of strange location between buildings. Little bit of a wind tunnel effect going on which made for a chilly day.

As beer gardens go, this one is epic. A sprawling, raucous (depending on the time you visit) upbeat escape in the city. Sit just out of reach of the Liberty Bell, order a beer and chill. Kick back, drink your beer and take a moment out of life. Whether you're people watching or with your own crew, find you spot and create your own moment. Independence Beer Garden is just that sort of place. It always feels right, from damn near standing room only to planting your derriere in one of their Adirondack chairs, it remains a positive spectacle and a hoppy refrain from whatever you were doing.

The Beer Garden is very close to the Visitor Centre and Independence Hall.It provided useful shade and a relaxing drink whilst waiting for our tour of Independence Hall. Pleasant service.

Independence beer garden (IBG)is located right near Independence Hall. It is a large space and if the weather is hot you can find a location where there is both shade and a breeze. Service was good and the cheese curds and pretzel bites excellent. The beers are reasonably priced with a good selection of local craft beers including some brewed exclusively for the IBG.

Great place for a quick beer while seeing the sites Had a lot of fun with my 5 year ago old playin shuffleboard, connect four, & Jenga. It was nice to grab a couple beers after walking around seeing the sites. Highly recommend stopping by when in the area.

Our family was passing by while seeing the sights. We wanted stop somewhere to see where to go next. IBG is a great outdoor venue with a nice breeze. The food is made in a shipping container kitchen, similar to a food truck. The bathrooms are also in a shipping container (very clever). The tacos were good and the french fries as well. Kids were allowed to sit and eat as well, but no kids menu.

A friend and I went on a Tuesday afternoon. It was quiet and not very crowded. The strings of lights and scenery was very beautiful. When we got there, we were happy to see such a good beer list on draft and a decent selection of bar food. The fried pickles were a little heavy, but definitely flavorful and the limited edition beer we both got did not disappoint. However, once we placed our order we did not see our server again for a very long time. We found out he had left and someone else was taking care of us, but then we didnt see her for a while either. We had finished eating and our beer for a while before she came back and offered us another round which, at that time we were just ready to get the check after waiting. However, we werent in a rush so it wasnt a huge deal just a little annoying. The food and beer and atmosphere are worth it, though!

This is a nice spot to sit outside, order some drinks and share some small plates of food. Great vibe to the place. Some of the chairs are just logs you sit on, it goes with the whole atmosphere they're creating. The food was good, the beer selection was decent, and the service was excellent. The bathrooms are pretty funky, they are shipping containers turned into restrooms, with a bathroom attendant as well.

Went for happy hour on a Thurs night. Got there about 5:10 and the place was already 98% full! Great beer selections, as you might expect, but the food? Not so much. We got the pretzel bits in beer cheese sauce. Pretzels from any of the local pretzel companies are way better and the sauce didn't taste like beer or cheese. The hummus platter - really good hummus, but carrots were like tree trunks and brown and not nearly enough pita. The pita was amazing...warm, soft, slightly charred. But we finished the pita and still had hummus left. No one wanted to touch those carrots to dip with though! Fried pickles - very good but not very many to an order. Service was great, atmosphere is really fun, with games at tables and in various locations. Restrooms...let's leave that alone for now! Great place to go as long as you know what to expect.

Seems like beer gardens are popping up everywhere. This place is no different. It's very big so there's always a not so crowded place to at least stand. Snacks are great and lots of fun games to play.

$21 for a pitcher of beer. Nice outdoor atmosphere. Came with a group of friends. Enjoyed a game of Jenga. Would come back....however I paid with my credit card and the next day there were fraudulent charges on my card. This could be a coincidence. I would just pay with cash next time---rather then give a bartender my card to take somewhere I can't see to swipe it.

There are tons of places to sit and games to play. Great beer selection and yummy snacks. It's a really fun atmosphere and I would definitely return here.

Such a nice and family friendly place. It's a must do for the person who wants to grab a beer but has small children. They have plenty of games to play to keep the children busy while the adults can rest from site seeing & enjoy a drink. They also have a great happy hour menu for drinks and light bites. The food is delicious and worth a try if your in need of a snack and in that area.

Had a great meal here on a Sunday! Sat outside, in the shade. Split the Watermelon Salad with my husband, plus I had the fish tacos and he had cheesesteak sandwich. We both ate every bite! Our waitress kept our water pitcher full, since we were so thirsty. I highly recommend this place!!!

These guys did it right. The beer garden is through the atrium of a fee buildings at independence hall. It's got shuffleboard, lawn-sized connect four, jenga, ping pong, cornhole, and a great selection of local and regional beers. The atrium iron work is trellised with ivy and it gives you a great atmosphere. I stumbled across it and what a pleasant surprise. Get here have a few brews and order a little food. It's got something for everyone.

This was our second drinks stop on a Tuesday evening in June. WOW - I wish we had something like this in the Denver area. The open seating and flow of the establishment was something I really enjoyed. The beer options were plentiful, and the snacks were great. I really recommend the wings, which come with a sort of honey glaze, and then with hot sauce and/or ranch for dipping. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful, even as our group had people coming and going for multiple hours. The people watching here is AMAZING - young and old, it made for a nice evening. This place is right across from the Liberty Bell, and offers easy access to quite a few historic sites.

such a cool beer garden! went there after going to Spruce St. park and I was not dissapointed. I liked that they low seats in various sections for 2-3 people to sit with a tree stump in teh middle for your drinks (or feet)

This was a nice respite after a long day walking around Philadelphia. They have a nice selection of local craft beers and they are actually reasonably priced. The food selection is limited to sandwiches and snacks. We didn't have any thing to eat here. It is conveniently located within sight of the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall.

This is a really nice covered outdoor space. It is convenient to many historical attractions in Philadelphia, but even if you are not in the area and would like to sit and have some drinks and food with friends and relax in open air, the Independence Beer Garden is a great place to go. Our group walked quite a distance to get here as we wanted a nice outdoor area to have a few drinks and snacks. Tap beer is great, and other beer selections are very good. We also tried some mixed drinks and their home made white sangria and all were absolutely delicious. Service was very friendly. There are games such as ping pong and others scattered around their facilities as well. Fantastic stop for drinks!
Perfect place to regroup
Two minute walk from the Liberty Bell and Indepedence Mall and an easy walk from most historical and cultural sites. This open air beer garden is the perfect stop, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and nice menu. We had the fish and chips bucket, lots of fish and fries and quite good. A great find. Also, for those using wheelchairs/scooters there is the best ramp we have seen in our travels (concrete, wide, easy grade, easy access) on the far side. JR, thanks for providing a chair with a back and arms.
