I arrived super hungry, they sat me right away. I ordered the house mixed grill special. Absolutely delicious. Thank you Jerry for a great dinner!

Husband and I ate at India House on July 3, 2024. We ordered butter naan, chicken biriyani, and lamb Rogan Josh. The butter naan was light and fluffy. The biriyani was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The lamb Rogan Josh was sooo tender it melted in our mouths. Service by Dharji was attentive and prompt. We loved this restaurant and wish we had one in our hometown of Miami.

I am an aficionado of Indian food, and have tried most of the Indian restaurants in Chicago. Right now, I believe India House is Chicago’s best. It is well-located near the Loop in River North, and has a slightly upscale, elegant decor and feel. The greeter and wait staff were friendly and welcoming, and quite helpful in making suggestions. It has an extensive menu, with all of the usual Indian restaurant standards and some out-of-the-ordinary appetizers and entrees as well. (We had one of the “Bombay Street Fare” appetizers, which was truly excellent.). And the food was delicious. We had Onion Bhaji and Papdi Chat as appetizers; both were outstanding. For entrees, I had Chicken Makhani (sometimes called Butter Chicken), which was the best I’d ever had anywhere - including London, Delhi, or NY. My wife had Lamb Hyderabadi, which also was excellent. Prices are perhaps higher than the places on Devon Avenue, but of course India House has a better location and ambience, and high-quality food. The place was packed, so the price point didn’t seem to drive away crowds. In short, if you’re looking for Indian Food in Chicago, in my view this is the place.

Came here for a visit after reading some reviews and I was not disappointed. The naan and tandoori chicken were good. The chicken tikka and samosas were amazing. There were tons of other food options and I just couldn’t eat them all. My waitress was attentive and friendly and the rest of the staff were nice as well. The restaurant was clean and easy to find. Many times with buffets food freshness can be a concern. This place attracts so many people the food is fresh and always being replenished. I will come back here!

Lunch buffet was pretty good for $16. A little on the pricey side but it is in downtown Chicago and has an upbeat vibe and full bar with some interesting cocktail choices. Not a typical Indian decor that you’d find at most Indian places. I particularly liked the lamb dish. The vegetarian options were all mildly spicy which was nice. Tandoori chicken is made to order and brought to the table. There were about 10-12 options from which to choose plus some fresh veggie choices Galub jamun was really good but the mango ice cream had a few too many ice crystals. Eventhough I gave it a rating of 3, if you are feeling like Indian food, it’s worth trying.

I have extensive background of traveling in India and am true lover of authentic Indian cuisine. This place is nothing to it, I had a chicken dish which was mushy and did not had any flavor. Definitely not worth visiting, especially with their prices..

The restaurant ambiance is ok. The wall needs repainting, the deco is not very indian. The food was very good. The appetizers were delicious, we had chicken samosas and onion bhaji. The naan was quite good. The rice was ok. The sauces are not too spicy, the chicken was nice white chicken and very good. The shrimps were perfect as were the vegetables. The wine we chose was also very good.

On my 65 th Birth Day, yesterday my family took me to India House, since it was near Ritz Carton hotel we are staying on our family trip to Chicago. The food , all of which was tasteless , as if some one cooked in kitchen who had never cooked Indian dishes before. The Minced chicken dish had rotten smelly chicken , we did not even eat. HOA Taladi’s fish was not even any where close to Govan dish or spices. Asked for spicy but came very fishy and not spicy at all. We told our waitress, who was of Eastern European descent , cared any less . Nothing , I mean nothing was good period and they call them self Fine Dining !! My behind !!! Extremely over priced for the tasteless and some what rotten fish and chicken that gave all of us severe diarrhea next day morning. I strongly advise all travelers to Chicago downtown who love nice fresh Indian food should stay away from this falsely advertised Fine Dining Indian Cuisine joint. Place looks good falsely but extremely terrible unhealthy and sickening dishes. Check out some other Indian restaurants but please do not waste your time and lots of money at this lousy restaurant whose food will make you sick after you eat. We will most definitely never ever visit this place . I hope this review will help lots travelers from getting real bad experience that we had. Thank you, Dr. Pravin J Patel, Atlanta, GA. 8/29/3018.

Found this place since my family companion had been there before, on a Saturday early evening. The atmosphere was pleasant quiet for conversation. Got samosa appetizer, condiment excellent, and two main dishes; a chicken makhani and a goat curry. Spicy, but not overwhelming. the restaurant filled up as the evening progressed, and clearly had lots of customers of indian descent, a very good sign. Overall very nice

I didn't have a bad experience but I felt the service wasn't great and the food was average or just better. It is the most expensive Indian restaurant in Chicago in my opinion and for half the price you can get better elsewhere. Will not repeat.

if you are not going up to Devon, this is the best. A nice room with good food. the biryanis and the tandooris are especially good.

We are here during a business trip. The food is very good, and service was prompt and friendly. We ate on a Monday evening, but the restaurant was very quiet - we heard about the restaurant from a sponsored Yelp post. I'd recommend eating here for the quality of the food, not necessarily if you're looking for an evening atmosphere.

If you want good Indian food, I found the place. Lunch buffet is everyday however Sunday's are more, $17.95. I had no idea how large this restaurant was upon entering but it's a good thing as it was packed, no reservations and no wait. The food was amazing, fresh and very tasty. Tandoori chicken with hot naan is brought to your table while entrees are lined up in the middle of the restaurant. Starting with salad, two varieties of rice, lots of veggie dishes followed by the curried meat dishes. Everything was tasty! Also dessert available for the price. I will go back as I really enjoyed it. Great place for any special occasion or large group as most table seat 4 or more. I don't think reservations are necessary due to the size of restaurant. Try somethings new and pop in.

This place is descent if you are hungry and staying in downtown area and wants to taste some spicy food after a long day downtown tours etc. Its well worth the drive to Devon Street to Sabri Nihari or Usmania if you really want to tase athentic indian/Pakistani food.

Enjoyed dinner here. Waiter was excellent. Very attentive but not overbearing. Lovely wine but quite pricey. Meal for two was just over 100 dollars with wine. Food was very good but we made the mistake of thinking that their food would be a lot milder than ours. This is often the case when we are in a different country. We ordered the hottest dish on the menu and thank goodness for the iced water. It was so hot but once the tastebuds adjusted we did enjoy it.

The lunch buffet was closed. But instead they would bring some small portions on the table. The result was overwhelming and very tasty. Great food for a sharp price in a nice setting. I am a fan.

Atmosphere was lovely and clean at the downtown location. Chicken tikka masala and madras chicken were delicious. My husband and I ordered the "dinner for two". It was a small platter of overly cooked extremely spicy meat chopped in chunks. I think this may have been leftovers from the lunch buffet. Stick with the food in sauces over rice and it's great.

I ordered Lamb Kheema and Roti's from this place and while I started eating the Kheema it tasted weird and smelling like stale one. Never see such a bad kheema made by any restaurant before

The first impression was that it was very dark inside, with the strange lights at the bar it’s not comfortable just having a drink while waiting for the table and friends who joined us. The samosas tasted good. The naan breads where also perfectly prepared with lots of flavor. I find the vindaloo dishes always very good and it’s a good test to see how hot they are. This one is medium hot but it has a little bite. For me it needs to be spiced up more. They have a couple of good Indian beers so if you like that go and try. The service was good and the food came out quickly. All together a decent place and the price is also in line with what you get.

I never expected to find such a decent Indian restaurant in the downtown of a big city like Chicago. Food is great, service is exceptional and staff is very accommodating! Undoubtedly, it is expensive but it is Chicago downtown and worth it.

Food was fabulous. Every dish was delicious, appetites, main dishes and dessert. But sticker shock when I got the bill! $20 is a lot for lunch

Visited Chicago on business and colleagues wanted Indian food. We found India House near our hotel and were delighted with the fabulous food and attentive service. It was so good in fact - we returned the next night for an encore with the same results. The lovely atmosphere allows you to actually 'dine' -savoring incredible food from a massive menu and sharing fun conversation with colleagues. It was obvious from the number of take-outs - that India House on W. Grand in a popular local place.

We were hungry after a long drive. We had the buffet and enjoyed it. Loved the food but as we came to the closing time so could not enjoy fully. The food was very good.

Was in town for a tradeshow and our boss introduced us to India House. I'd never eaten Indian food before and am quite adventurous when it comes to food. It was delicious and I highly recommend eating here. Very authentic, tasty and if my boss recommends it, we always know it's good.

Just got into town and I needed comfort food after the drive. Got a chicken tikka lunch special and lamb vindaloo. I asked for one spicy and one very spicy. Both were perfect. Reasonable price for the big city.

I visited this location today with my girlfriend and had originally received a free voucher to eat at this place and did not disappoint. She works at the Swissotel in downtown Chicago and one of the managers gave her a voucher to come try out the place. The chicken was delicious and one of our favorites were the lentils! The price is just right and is very luxurious inside of the restaurant as well. Our servers name was Valent and gave outstanding service. He kept constantly coming up to our table to make sure everything was okay and if we needed anything. Good service and good food is what makes a restaurant successful and this place does it all. Will be recommending this place to friends and family and will be back to eat here again! My girlfriend will also be recommending this place to customers that stop by at her hotel!

Not the best... we read good reviews, so we walked 20 minutes from the Hotel. Very loudy, the papadums was very sticy, the raita was not normal raita, this was with carot. I asked for chicken corma, since it was not on the menu. They said They make it anyway - OT tasted wired - coconut was not in the sauce... but good service

Loved the curries here very much. Didnt like the tandoori chicken though. Felt that was reheated and the colour was too red. busy place.

I was disappointed, as i was expecting a place called "India House" to serve authentic spicy Indian food. The food is definitely Indian, but the taste was more suited to the locals. If you don't like your Indian food this way, then best to avoid

This restaurant food was ok. Their prices for dinner entrée is high. There is too much oil and grease. The Naan and roti is good.

I love indian buffets, but I don't know much about what all those curries with the lentils and chick peas and things are called. But it was good. And I was fine that being in the river north local it traded in a little authenticity in order to cater to the local population. Pros: Decor was good, and they get an A for effort. Some of the ladies (who were not Indian) wore very ornate designs, and service was wonderfully attentive. There were plenty of main dishes at the buffet tables which were excellent, though if you are a meat lover you hold out till the very end where there's a chicken, goat and fish curry to be had. All the flavors were wonderful, and very creamy. Perhaps too creamy and not adequately astringent and spicy to be authentic, but perfect for my palette. Cons: Except when it comes to the meat. The chicken tikka was the tired old dry chicken breast that the average unassuming American would expect and prefer. It was in a rich delicious sauce though. The goat curry, which under any circumstance would be my favorite dish at any Indian buffet, also used lean cuts of meat rather than the cut up bone and gristle, which is where all the flavor is. The tandoori chicken was slightly dry and flavorless. The nan was not crispy and puffy. And there were no samosas.

During our visit to Chicago downtown a couple of weeks ago (a family of 4), we were looking for a good Indian restaurant and this one showed up on google maps. Decided to try out and soon we were all delighted that our decision was right. It was around 8 pm on a Saturday and the place was bustling with groups of diners of various ethnicities - most of them South Asians. The menu was authentic Indian, dominated by north Indian cuisine. The waiters were speaking fluent Hindi and were happy to answer queries regarding the preparation and portions to help us with our final selection. As vegetarians, we saw ample choice and finally ordered three varieties of naans, two varieties Dal, a couple of Paneer (Indian cottage cheese) preparations. Each item was sumptuous, tasty and satisfying until the last scraping from the bottom of the bowl. Since the service was taking a little longer they served some hot breads with spicy sauce to munch while waiting which was indeed appreciated. When the check arrived, we were delighted that it was reasonably priced... value for money.

Ovearll the experience was good: Ambience -> Great Food-> Very Good Special Attraction-> Lunch Buffet, value for money and eat as much as you can Service: Great Staff: Friendly Atmosphere: Great

Food was good but I've eaten Indian food all over the country and the world and nothing here warranted the prices - $5-$7 dollars more than average, per dish. we kept our order to a minimum. Chili chicken was good, rice was rice and Ive had better chicken pakoras but still, OK. Service was adequate but not all that attentive. Greetings and farewells were pleasant and appreciated.

Not a fan of buffet, so I wish I had gone when they had menu only. My family enjoyed their choices and were very pleased.

The food was excellent and we enjoyed dinner in a very pleasant Indian atmosphere. Stuff is very friendly and couteous.

Highly recommend the food at India House where the spices and flavours have a genuine authentic and freshly made taste. An excellent range of meals to choose from, and great service from friendly staff.

We love India food; found this place by accident. The meal starts with pocket bread and roasted chicken pieces on hot platter. Buffet of salad and main food selection; about 10 different dishes. Chicken and goat curry dishes were very good. The mango ice cream is unbelievable. Other desserts also. The lunch price was $15 (without drinks).

Travel quite frequently to Chicago from the UK and as a vegetarian I usually find myself needing indian soul food after a couple of days. I always choose this place... it’s a good downtown location, the food is really good, lots of Vege choice obviously and reasonably priced. I had the Vege thali today - rice, salad, raita, dal, saag paneer, chana masala and a garlic naan. Not quite as delicious as home cooked Gujarati food but a great place away from home. Will definitely return.

A great place for Indian cuisine for Indians who have the taste for it as well as for foreigners too. The vast menu of vegetarian & non-vegetarian food. The buffet at lunch is very good and everyone must enjoy!

Food and service was nice, but what I was missing was the strong flavor that gives the food the soul. I would expect the indian cuisine to have strong flavors, we were 4 people and sll of us had different plate so we could compare the taste.

This Indian restaurant is at a very good downtown location. Good ambiance. Service is also good. Food quality was fine. Tea was not great. Could have been much better.

Great food and service. Our party shared several dishes. Excellently prepared and very tasty. Nice ambiance adds to the experience

Extremely Salty food. We ordered a biryani and the taste Extremely unedible. The portions are huge but was salty. The service was good

We had a business lunch here on a weekday and took advantage of the fantastic buffet ($14.95 M-Th, and $17.95 F-S). This offers a fantastic opportunity to savor a wide range of Indian specialties. We had 8 people at a quiet table by the window and were able to have a pleasant and exceptionally tasty business lunch. My only suggestion would be for improved labeling at the buffet to indicate the relative spiciness of the dishes. I love spicy food, but some in our party did not. I highly recoment the buffet in terms of choice, taste and quality.

We're vegetarians who enjoy Indian food and were visiting from the UK. We chose this restaurant based on Tripadvisor's reviews and we were not disappointed. The food (it doesn't only serve vegetarian but its veggie menu was extensive) and the service were fantastic. Freshly made, the entire meal was delicious and was served with great pride and care. The staff were incredibly helpful without being obtrusive and we were made to feel like valued regulars rather than a one-off visit. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious, well-priced authentic Indian meal served by people who are proud of their country and the food they serve. How we wish this restaurant wasn't 4,000 miles away!

Been there on the memorial day. Taken the buffet. There were a lot of option to take starting from chicken tandoori, mutton curry, prawn coconut curry, fish curry All the foods are tasty, One negative thing is that all of then had too much gravy into it, really need to find the staff from the immense pool of gravy. The mango ice-ceam was good.

Had ordered food for colleagues, and everyone really enjoy the food, it was fresh and tasted amazing. My favorite was Tandoori Chicken and Palak Paneer

Had the goat curry. Flavor was great. Not quite spicy enough for my tastes. Staff was really pleasant.

This was hard to write in comparison with Indian Garden. I think the Indian Garden had better food, but the food here was very solid as well. The area this beats Indian Garden is the service is far superior. I can't say enough nice things about the staff and level of service. I would definitely recommend.

I can't begin to tell you how yummy this restaurant was. The menu has great selections and if you are familiar with Indian food and the dish isn't on the menu they will make it for you. We sat at the gorgeous bar during happy hour and so enjoyed the cocktails and apps on the happy hour menu. The staff did everything they could to ensure we had a delicious meal and great service. A place not to be missed.

I have been to this restaurant several times with out of town guest staying in downtown Chicago. If I have no choice I would take the to west Rogers Park neighborhood that has more than 50 high quality Indian and Pakistani restaurants, but we had to settle for this one due to time restriction. We ordered few staple dishes, chicken biryani and chicken korma, both were quite good. We had to ask for extra spicy as their food is made quite mild. Their Naan was also quite excellent and yummy. Their portion is quite big, our dishes could have easily fed 4. Bill for 2 of us was $91 for 2 drinks, appetizer an 2 entrées including tip which is on the pricey side. Will come again if some else is paying for us.😊

This was my first time trying a large amount of Indian food. It was DIVINE!!! The Chana Masala was excellent. The shrimp was tasty. The cabbage and potato dish was excellent. I really like the chicken masala. I was pleasantly surprised. The mocktail frozen drinks were everything. The mango martini is a MUST.

I've eaten in here before and not been wowed but had an amazon restaurant voucher and thought I've give it another go as the reviews are really good. However, the result was much the same, fairly bland currys, ordered the extra hot and got a soup like level of flavour. The lamb was fairly tender and the naan was great, i'm still in shock at how hard it is to find spicy indian food in chicago. It also took 59mins to arrive, 1 minute longer and I would've been given another free voucher!

I visited here last January and I have not been able to stop thinking about their food ever since. The chef made the vegetarian korma spicy and cooked it with breast of chicken for me. It was just wow, their naan bread amazing.

One of the finest restaurant for indian food in Chicago downtown. Food was awesome, ambiance was great and service was good. Service could have been little better but it was not bad. The simplest indian dish Daal banjara was the best daal I have ever had. Street parking only which is hard to find and vallet parking is very costly $14.

Excellent food and service. Fine dining. Best saag paneer I have ever tasted on the planet. Great selection of excellent dishes-all were excellent. Naan very good. Mango ice too sweet. They should add tap beer.

The atmosphere is nice but a little too dark and the jarred foods displayed around the space feel a little cluttered and maybe a bit dated. It could use a little more brightness and some editing of the decorative elements. The menu is absurdly huge and could also use some editing. Many, if not most of the menu items are prepared in advance making modifications for allergies very limited. The services is charming and kind but feels a little rushed and slightly pushy. The portions are sizable but so are some of the prices. Good place to go for a special occasion if you are looking for something a different in a unique environment but don't expect exceptional food.

The menu is extensive and the server gave great recommendations. We enjoyed all of our dishes, I would definitely return when I'm in town.

It has become a ritual. Every time I come to Chicago I have to visit this place. Food is always good. Portions are generous. Quality of food is good. Service is excellent.

Food and drinks were great, but the experience was let down by an unexpectedly high bill and the failure to provide a requested copy, which was disappointing.

Not sure what the bad reviews are about. The food is very good and very spicy. The serve you chicken Tandoori with the buffet! While I have had better Indian food this is still above average. You should try it. The mango ice cream is fantastic.

We were in Chicago for a couple of days. Normally we avoid Indian food when travelling and stick to local cuisine, as far as is possible. Though that would mean either pizzas or burgers or Thai/Chinese, our favourite. This time my kids wanted to eat Indian food. Since we were already in downtown area, we decided upon India House and happy that we went there. The buffet was on(Saturday), nice Hindi songs were playing and the place was full of Indians and locals. The buffet itself was priced very well, $15.00 and the the choices were many. Vegetarian and non-veg spread was great, all three kinds of meat along with many other dishes. I am sure, they had food for all palates. My personal favourites were the egg curry(yummy), fish fry and kadhi. The cocktails were expansive, nearly all of them around $13.00 and frankly, I’m not a big fan of drinks in the noon, when one is on family and has a beautiful city to explore. Travelling around Chicago is cheap if one plans it well. We took a day pass as we were staying next to airport. Travelled on blue line subway and the pass works well on the city busses as well as local trains. Walking around the city was not a big fun as we were short on cell phone battery, google maps get confused and confusing and it was cold as an ice factory that day with strong winds. Not to mention that I’d forgotten my cap at the hotel and was out only in a thin jacket.

This was my second visit to fix meals for Indian delegates during 100 convention of Lions clubs international in June. Met Krishna for our plans and events and found her very helpful. The ambience and service is excellent. Food is delicious and reasonably priced. Better than many restaurant than India.

The restaurant decor was good, the staff were courteous but the food was a big disappointment! I ordered a thali which had a mixed platter of fish and chicken tikka, dal and rice and naan. The chicken (some pieces) texture was like rubber, the fish tikka had burnt skin and blande and tasteless, and there was no taste of the marinate. The dal was spicy, but tasted better than any other dish. We ordered malai kofta which was an oblong blob of tasteless kofta! Well Mr Chef usually koftas are made small round about the size of gulab jamun to ensure that the koftas are fully cooked and that the sauce is absorbed. Fast forwarding through the meal I ordered Ras malai which is a dessert , the dish came with lot of malai but the cottage cheese balls were tasteless and disappointing. I recommend that the chef should find Nanak's frozen rasmalai from Indian grocery and taste it. When a restaurant rasmalai tastes worse than frozen rasmalai you can imagine the disappointment of the customers! I think this place could get raving reviews if the food was cooked by some experienced chef. Think of it this way, why would anyone want to pay more to eat chicken like rubber, tasteless fish and rasmalai, not to mention this gave us all acid reflux! I am giving this place a thumbs down sorry.

There were two tables with people tonight. That is a tell. Even for a Monday. The food was boring and tasteless. Not bad. Not at all good. Find someplace else if you want nice Indian.

While the menu is quite large, I always seem to get the Tandori dinner special. Soup or salad, a sizzling platter of 4 different tandori meats and onions, a lentil stew, rice, naan, and dessert, all for under $30. One of the best dinners in town! They start you off with complementary naan bites and a dipping sauce similar to the one used in Tikka Massalla. I like the warm towel presented at the end of the meal as sometimes your fingers get soiled from the naan and tandori chicken. Drink prices are reasonable, and they offer a J Lohr red by the glass, which is one of my favorites!

We made a last minute booking for 16 people on a Saturday and they accommodated us and also gave individual bills for all at the table - super efficiency Then the food came , it was delicious and authentic. Beautiful ambiance - all round good experience Many of us were vegetarian and plenty to choose from

Perfect appetizers and entrees with a wide range of spice level. Waitstaff was professional, congenial, and attentive. The setting was conducive to visiting and to a relaxing and enjoyable evening. We always enjoy dining here and actually visited twice over our four-day stay in Chicago.

As former Brits, we are curry lovers and we loved our visit here. No wait as we booked on-line in advance. Very authentic Indian food, well presented. All our choices didn't disappoint. Super choice, great service and very nice atmosphere. Really worth a visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. Only one thing we didn't appreciate was the heave perfume of them burning incense sticks in the restaurant. If they stopped that, it would make the experience even better.

Nice Indian food and lovely ambiance. The complimentary nan bread and gravy is same as murgh makhani (butter chicken) so dont order a duplicate :)

I brought two customers here, each of which love Indian food, and we were absolutely delighted! We pigged out - popadoms and chutney, lamb samosas, vegetable samosas, raita, lamb curry, chicken tikka masala (two of us are Brits!!!) vegetable curry, pilau rice with peas, garlic naan, plain naan followed by pistachio kulfi and mango kulfi, washed down with two bottles of a really good Argentinian Malbec. Needless to say we poured ourselves out of the place! This is a lovely restaurant. Our waitresses were superb, the food fabulous and the price very reasonable indeed. A wonderful experience all round.

I personally don't think the food gets much better unless you make your way to the North side of town and Devon St. India house is consistent and the quality is good. You will not be disappointed but you probably won't be wowed. It is a very extensive menu. I like the aloo tikka chat as an appetizer. Muttar paneer, vegetable biryani and a chicken dish. Plenty of food for 2 but you do need som naan to soak up all of liquid. Great selection of Tandoori breads in an Indian atmosphere. Good bottles of inexpensive wines that pair well with spicy. Tons of vegetarian and vegan options. Pleanty of meat for me.

Two in our party. One had "Papdi Chaat" as a starter & "Banjara Dal" with Roomali Roti. The other had the fried fish (Fish Koliwara) & lamb boti kabab masala with Tandoori Roti. As with Indian dishes, there was enough for us to share. The papdi in the papdi chaat was thick and slightly tough. I would have preferred to be thinner and crunchier. The sauce could also have been tangier with some amchoor or imli. The Banjara dal did not have the apices married to the lentils and as a result were a pale imitation of the Indian daal. The fish appetizer had a coating of marinade which was quite insipid and did not infuse the tilapia. The lamb boti kabab was passable but the tiny pieces of lamb were not easy to find in the thick tomato-based sauce. Also the lamb pieces were a bit dry a fact disguised by the flavorful sauce. I am used to larger chunks of lamb/goat pieces in my Indian cuisines and overall I was quite disappointed. The Roomali & the Tandoori Rotis on the other hand were excellent & did not disappoint. One thing I did note on the menu was a "Kashmiri naan". Now the chef or the restaurant owner is entitled to name the dishes whatever they like but the use of the "Kashmiri" implies a Kashmiri origin of that naan. Kashmir is home to some excellent breads. However naan is not of them. Yes it's minor point I agree but important in an ethnic restaurant, ambassador of its country.

Accommodating gracious service. Food was delicious. Beautiful presentation. Try the grilled vegetables and nam bread. Here is our favorite.

The food was INCREDIBLE! My husband and I loved the buffet option at lunch. The fresh chicken brought to the table was still sizzling. This is a true gem in Chicago. When we return in July, this is the first place in our itinerary!!!

Based on some of the reviews, I was a tad nervous about this place that my colleague decided on. I was wrong. Restaurant is clean, with professional service staff, pleasant and relaxing venue, and absolutely excellent food. Facilities including the bathrooms were very clean and looked nearly new. Would definitely return again. I wish I had a restaurant like this in my hometown! Kudos to owners and management staff

In Chicago downtown, India House is one of the popular Indian restaurants and we decided to go there for a dinner in week day. First thing first, parking in that area is a problem, and we end up paying 34 dollars for parking in near by garage :(. But that is the problem with downtown restaurants. Ambience wise this place is quite good with its modern looks inside. Food quality was good and especially the naans were excellent. Portion size was much bigger than what we had expected, but prices are on higher side as well. We tried couple of chaats also, but I believe they can do much better there. Overall a good place for tasty Indian food in downtown Chicago.

Great restaurant, atmosphere and great selection of dishes. Taste is great and service too. Totally recommended when in Chicago.

We have dined here many times over the years, and it never disappoints. The selections are extensive, and if diners wish to slightly alter a dish, they are very accommodating. The service is attentive but not intrusive, and the ambience nice.

Excellent food and slightly more spicy than normal. Waitstaff seemed unhappy or bored. Ordered the 4 course meal for two and enjoyed a variety of dishes and a mountain of chicken, shrimp, and lamb. Ideally this meal would have been properly sized for 4 people. Clean and airy space, but open seating made for a lot of background noise.

I've lived in Chicago for several years and have had dinner at India House several times over the years. While the prices they charge for a single vegetable dish have gone up (around $20 these days), the food and service have steadily declined over the years. One of our dishes was so oily and lacked seasoning that I couldn't eat more than a few bites. When we had it sent back, the owner showed no remorse whatsoever. All I want is a sincere apology. The rest of the food was OK - definitely not worth the prices they are charging now. There are cheaper, better quality Indian restaurants in Chicago. Skip this one. I won't be going back ever again.

Went for a quiet dinner with my wife. Service was good but sadly the food wasn't. Food quality was poor and we had to request for two main entrees to be changed because the preparation was terrible. They changed promptly but by that time we had lost our appetite. Would not recommend.

I ordered Vegetarian Special Thali from India house-Chicago and had it delivered to my hotel nearby. The food came on time. The quality of food was terrible. I asked for Bhindi masala (it came full with oil and oil). The dal and soup was poorly prepared. It was certainly not a good Indian food. The naan and kheer was good. I strongly encourage the owners to check the food quality.

This place is definitely overrated and pricey for what you get. We had a chicken tandoori and it was dry and tasteless

I’ve been here once before when visiting Chicago and was looking forward to going back. I was not disappointed. Seating and service was prompt and friendly. I had the lentil soup and papadam followed by Goan fish curry. I asked for it to be extra spicy and it was made just as requested. Will return on my next trip to Chicago.

India House is a regular stop for us when we visit Chicago. They have an extensive menu and the food is always quite good. On this visit, the service was a little lacking, but the food was good. Be aware that most of the dishes provide enough food to share. They do have a good system for packaging the leftovers and we enjoy them as much the next day.

Authentic and tasty Indian food. I always enjoy the foo here. Try Bhindi Amachur as appetizer. Overall great place!

The lunch spread is very elaborate. You have lots of options both veg and non veg. Naan and tandoori chicken are served hot on the table. My suggestion is keep some place for the dessert too. the food is great and I loved it.

We came to this restaurant 2 years ago and we had a buffet. It was excellent. But when we came this time, the food was tasteless. We first ordered paneer kadhai but it was just a tomato purée. And then I ordered chicken biryani. It was the worst biryani I’ve ever eaten in my life. Zero spices. I thought he just fried the rice in the oil. I was very disappointed.

Our group enjoys Indian food especially the vegetarian options and we were not disappointed. The staff was friendly and helped us with our choices - we would go again if we were in the area.

Excellent curry. Rich flavor. Beautifully soft naan. Very authentic. One of the best currys ive had, and certainly the best I've had whilst living in the US. And I've had a LOT of currys. Definitely recommend.

This is a pretty good place to have Indian food. Went there for a Dinner. The place is very lively where the restaurant is located. The staff is very good and friendly. I didnt have a reservation but still didnt had to wait for a table. I had Cheese Pakora as starter which was very good. The tamarand sauce andmint chutney was excellent as well with it. Had the vegetarian Thali, which had Chick peas curry, Palak Panner and Dal in addition to naan, rice, salad and kheer. The food was very tasty and in good quantity. The restaurant ambiance is very nice as well. The only negative its on a pricey side, a person dinner with a drink would cost +$50. Overall pleasant dinner.

This is a great restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. The staff are really kind and helpful and the food was delicious. My husband told our waiter (Valen) that it was my birthday and he prepared a beautiful dessert with a sparkler and played happy birthday. It was a really fun evening and a great way to celebrate.

Awesome to the top! Best buffet I have had ever! Loved all the various items. Tandoori chicken yummy! lamb kheema with eggs unique interesting recipe but delicious.

Nicely located in the city center, this place combines contemporary, almost hip, decoration (not the traditional Indian style), efficient service and most importantly a rich variety of great Indian food. Good value for money.

Visiting from Portland came with a large group of friends and family. Was expecting “the best Indian restaurant in Chicago”. The food was swimming in so much “sauce” it was difficult to recognize which dish was being served. Not great flavor, pretty much the most bland Indian food we’ve had. No comparison to the Indian places we have in Portland Metro. Oh, and the price? Ridiculous. We were charged $12 for naan and $10 for white rice! There were only 7 of us and mostly not big eaters. It felt like we were being buckled and dimes. The servers and staff were nice enough, but it was so busy, it was hard to find someone when you needed something. Someone got up from the table to ask for something 3 times.

Too pricey for the quality of food. Service wasn't that great. Some of the food was too much reheated

Was visiting Chicago from London and decided to try this place. Ambience was lovely, service was good but the food was way to salty. It was practically inedible. We ordered the punjabi goat and mattar paneer for the main and papdi chaat and fish for starters. The restaurant is certainly consistent as each dish was over salted. Even the raita was salty. Sorry to say but the curries in London beat this place any day. Portion size of dishes is very generous but defeats the purpose if you can’t eat them.

It's always tough justifying $23 for a curry and $12 for beers within. However, once you enter India House, you will not be disappointed. The servers are all very welcoming and knowledge while the food is exceptional. We got vegetable samosas and an onion Bhaji to start and a few curries. The spice was perfect on each and we left having eaten far too much. Tough to beat this curry house.

We stopped in for the lunch buffet on a friday with our two kids (6 and 8). We all thoroughly enjoyed the food. It is a very large buffet. The restaurant was packed and loud but we never had to wait for anything. The staff was attentive and courteous. I would absolutely go back again.

You will not regret the buffet option. It comes with naan and you get to choose from a variety of curries. Includes dessert.

If you love naan, kulcha, and poori breads, then this is the restaurant for you. All of them were terrific and I also thought the chicken tikka marsala was the best I ever had in the U.S. I order that particular dish in NYC or whatever city I am in, and this one at India House was outstanding. Excellent service as well. Highly recommend.

We ordered Baigan Bharta which was very oily and tasteless. They took it back and brought back another version of the dish but it took them too much time to bring it back. The Aloo-Gobhi was too spicy too eat. Every dish was extremely expensive. We will not go back. The Cumin restaurant is a much better option if you want good Indian food

Located in Downtown this place is easily accessible if you are visiting Navy Pier and Downtown Chicago. Crowded during weekends they have a lunch buffet option which has number of options but nothing was authentic. Not many Indian restaurants have chat options but they had Pani puri , Pav bhaji which attracted us first. Pani puri was good but Bhaji weren't up to the mark.

Table ready for our reservation. Amazing server, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful. Lovely dining environment. We would return next time we are in Chicago.

They have great food -- I highly recommend the chicken 65 with garlic naan. The service was also courteous, and the restaurant is very conveniently located in downtown. I thought the prices were a little inflated for a restaurant that wasn't quite as authentic as I was hoping it to be, but I highly recommend a dinner or lunch here nevertheless.

I don’t normally give 5 star reviews, so I think this demonstrates that I was impressed at every level. The atmosphere, the staff, the service, the presentations, and of course the food were all top notch. We have a standard few items we always order at Indian restaurants as point of comparisons so Garlic Naan, Papdi Chat, Shrimp Marsala, and Lamb Rogan Josh were on our order as were Hendricks Martinis. They were all excellent as well as were the generous portions. So we loved it and it was a birthday visit too. Check it out - you’ll love it too.

A delightful Indian Cuisine restaurant, we had lunch buffet a few days back. A busy restaurant, the wait staff were very attentive and friendly. We had a senior in our group and the restaurant staff took care to get us a table close to the buffet. The buffet was a large spread of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items besides salad and deserts. The naan was hot and the accompanying side dishes - chana masala, aloo gobhi sabji, kaali dal, jaipuri aloo, tandoori chicken, etc were delightul to taste. Thanks to the management and staff for their efforts

From the tepid reception when I checked in with my OpenTable reservation, to the table with a view of the greasy window in the kitchen, to the food that was barely warm and lacking taste, this was a disappointing visit. They bill themselves as “fine dining” but dinner was barely edible. Lots of other choices in the Windy City 🌃

A very Lovely Restaurant, we had to change our reservations twice and they were so kind to accommodate us. The Ambiance is very nice, not to loud at all, very cozy! Our Server Ivana was so kind, very gracious and always taking care of us. The food was amazing, I gave them a 4.5 out of 5 just because it’s not a Steakhouse and there is only so much you can do with India Food. The spices where never to much, never to hot and perfectly blended. The meal is very reasonably priced and we chose Wine instead of our normal King Fisher beer or Taj Maj beer which they have. All in all a very nice meal and restaurant to go to on a normal night out and we will go back again.

Bland food, poor service, unannounced gratuity of 28bpercent ands unannounced 3.5 percent credit card upcharge. Cannot get new set of silverware when they take away buffet plates. Never again.

I was visiting Chicago and found (great) advertisements of this restaurants in several magazines, so we decided to stop for lunch. We tried the lunch buffet. There was some variety in the dishes, although not as much as I had expected. Tandoori chicken and Naan bread are included and brought to the table. There were three desserts: mango ice cream , rice pudding and some sweet balls. I must say I found the food good but not great. I did not enjoy the taste of the sweet lassi drink either. Service was just OK. In short, I found this place to overpriced.

India House is at the highest level of Indian cuisine I have found in Chicago. Ingredients are invariably fresh and well prepared - seasoning is imaginative. They will adjust spice level to your taste. The menu is larger and more varied than many Indian restaurants. Atmosphere is nice, though I could do without the music playing over speakers. Service friendly and helpful too. Gluten-free dishes are marked on menu.

I have been here many times and it's always excellent. Not sure if it was due to the owner being in the UK but the service was not so great. VERY VERY slow to be asked for drinks, slow to serve everything. Can't fault the food though. Was 5 of us and we were well fed.

I love coming here. Everything is yummy. And the mango ice cream is my favorite thing they serve. I think I could truly live on this.

For people who were traveling, the portions were much to large, but if you had the ability to take it home for a 2nd and 3rd meal, it would be optimal. We dined early and were the only customers for our waiter, so we felt like he stared at us while we ate which was a little unsettling ... but having prompt service was better than the alternative. Finding a menu that served Bhindi (Okra) was a treat for me ... I haven't found it outside of NYC.

Good meal. The food was great and we enjoyed dinner in a very pleasant Indian atmosphere. Staff was very friendly.

Went for the lunch buffet with a colleague. First the décor is very modern crisp and clean. It was Christmas time and they played Christmas music which I thought was very nice to hear. The service was incredibly impressive (especially for a buffet). The food was really tasty (not very spicy at all). The tomato soup was the best I had (I have been to different Indian buffets). The choices were great, the presentation also very good. Every time I wanted to get out, the Tikki Masala Chicken kept pulling me back in. I am doing a low carb thing so I did not try dishes with potatoes, rice, etc but I did try a little of the mango ice cream (yummy). M-T it's $14.95 (which we did). F-S it's $17.95 (I don't know what they add for the week-end if anything?). Much better than $11.95 buffets I have had. Try to go early because it does get packet after 12 (for good reason). The only negative thing I have to say is some of the veggie dishes got cool - but not worth losing a star.

Being an Indian its hard to find an authentic India restaurant outside India. India House really surprised me with the variety of cuisine that it has and also the taste of some of the curries was very authentic If you can definitely try the Lunch Buffet What I liked: Ambience of the restaurant, variety in the menu, helpful staff as they can guide you what's suitable, location as its close to cta station What i did not: Some of the items had a hefty price tag which cannot be justified

Good food, fresh, big disease Clean, good service, Nice Atmosphere We eat the dal Chickpeas It was very good We recommend

I was in Chicago for the NRA show and was craving indian food all day. After Searching the top 5 I picked this restaurant. BEST EXPERIENCE EVER. The chicken 65 was on point. the chick ticks nasal was even better especially the cheese nan and the spicy mayo dip. Will forsurely fly back to east here. BTW THE STAFFS AMAZING.

been there so far from home not easy specially when it comes to food. As indian choices are there in chicago but certainly this one i found best. the ambience, food quality and menu and taste make me feel at home. it was a great dining experience

I went to India house twice in the last month. The first visit was quite okay. The service was slow, the recommendations not too good. The food on the first visit was tasty and well cooked. My yardstick for any Indian restaurant is their tandoori chicken and Seekh Kabab. They passed the test as the Tandoori chicken was just enough done to retain the juices inside and the seekh kebab was properly spiced and grilled to perfection. However the dampner was the Papads which were bought to us totally damp. We overlooked this. On my next visit which was the very next day I was totally disappointed. The taste of the food was nothing in comparison to the day earlier. It seemed like a different restaurant. The same dishes tasted totally different. It could be that there are various cooks but a restaurant must always keep the recipes same to maintain the consistent taste of the food. It was a big let down. For the size of the restaurant they were clearly understaffed as the waitress were struggling to take orders and serve. The beer on both the days was not served chilled despite having asked for a chilled one. I wouldn't recommend to anybody and would certainly skip on my next trip to Chicago.

$15 for full Indian buffet in downtown Chicago in a very clean looking place is unbeatable! Food was good with naan to the table. Chicken tikka and gulab jamun on point. The rest of the food was average but overall great place for curry people and Indian food lovers.

the place is very nice, food excellent and for a customer who is not that knowledgeable on Indian food, the staff helped and understoood what we would like. its quiet but has rooms for large groups. drinks were great too

Good Food. Veg Cutlets were just awesome. I was late for picking up Dinner, but staff was courteous as I reached 10 minutes after business hour. Authentic Taste... Thank you :)

Excellent food on a rainy cloudy day . It was crowded but still the staff were friendly, managed everyone with personal care . Buffet spread was good . More vegetarian items , chaat corner, dessert were the highlights . Warm hospitable place in the downtown

Incredible selection of authentic Indian food and tons of vegetarian options. I’ve been here many years ago and on my recent visit it still delivered the same experience. We had lots of vegetarian starters and mains, every one of them was on point for flavour.

We went (for dinner) to the India House which was near our hotel downtown. Service was friendly and efficient. The waiter kindly brought the 4 year old in our group a plate of raw vegetables. But the food was mediocre at best. We like Indian food and are neither picky nor foodies. This food was not even close to as good as the food from the chain Indian restaurant near our home in Providence. And when you are charging about $18 for a bowl of dal makani you shouldn't charge an extra $5 for a (small) bowl of rice to go with it. We don't mind paying downtown prices; but not for this so-so food.

Went with family. Great good. Fast service. The only place where i would prefer to go for Indian food in chicago area.

Dinner for four, family style. Lamb vindaloo was tangy and quite spicy - as requested. Shrimp masala tasty. Mixed vegetables fine. Portion size ample enough for two doggie bags even though we had just three entrees, a chicken 65 appetizer and garlic naan (the last could have been more garlic-y). Pretty good wine list for a cuisine not much associated with that drink - though they were out of Kingfisher. Attentive but not pesky service. Lots of Indian patrons a positive clue.

Recommended by a friend. Very tasty roasted chicken and bread brought to the table almost soon as we sat down. Great lunch buffet. Server was a little checked out - but maybe because it was the lunch buffet.

This is located conveniently on a busy street. Food quality and taste below expectations. Service is excellent.

We were extremely pleased with the restaurant. The quality and quantify of the food was more than expected. The service was fast and professional. Very reasonably priced for this area of Chicago.

Closely located in downtown Chicago near Clark street. Good Indian food restaurant with many options on both Veg & Non-Veg. with Bar attached. Friendly & smiling staff and serves quickly. The only flip side is the price. Indian food doesn't cost so much that it charges, well that is always debatable.

We went here for lunch on Monday afternoon. As soon as you step in, one can see the great setting and ambiance of the place. The bar setup looks great. It was a lunch buffet going on, the selection of food especially vegetarian friendly options were great. The fine touch of bringing sizzling tandoori chicken and hot garlic naans on every table was awesome. I order fresh lime soda which for a hot summer day was delicious and refreshing. Service was great as well. My favorite dishes were tandoori chicken, tawa paneer and kadahi chicken. The dessert winner to me was fresh mango ice cream. i would also say that gulab jamun here are softest I have ever had. And to my surprise, the buffet was not even expensive making it a great value as well. We had a great time here, would return back for sure next time.

Visited this place for lunch on a busy saturday, wasnt a problem to get seat for 2 of us! buffet spread was very good, I wish they had some sizzlers for vegetarians aswell served on table like Tandoor Chicken served for non-veggies. sambar, kadi pakoda etc.. were tasting very authentic too! Biryani was good.

Don’t listen to the reviews and go to India Garden!!! Come here instead!!!!! India House has the best Indian food in town. You honestly won’t regret it!!! The malai kofta is so good and so are the vegetable cutlets. Jose was an awesome waiter and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone.

We love Indian food and have wanted to check out this highly rated spot for some time. So when the stars aligned, we took the opportunity to check it out and we’re so glad we did. The food and drinks here were really fantastic. Martinis were delivered in stunning stemware that just further contributed to the elegance of the space, but it was the food that stole the show! Aloo Tikki Chat, Almond roll, Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Curry, and mouthwatering Garlic Naan made for a wonderful meal. The service was excellent, the atmosphere perfect, and the entire evening was special. Do check it out whenever you are in Chicago. It is really worth a visit. We will return for sure.

The lunch buffet on Sunday was delicious with a lot for vegetarians to choose from. I have no complaints about the food. Adequately spicy, not bland food. This is a nice restaurant with seating divided into two parts. For all of you planning to eat here, please ask to be seated in the interior of the restaurant where the buffet spread is. Please do not sit to your left upon entering the restaurant. The reason is, some (not all) of the non-serving staff kept hovering around the seating area, especially standing, leaning on to the bar area and judgmentally staring at people eating. The whole experience of eating here was so uncomfortable. The pani puri guy also needs to be more giving. I asked for four pani puris for two of us and he confirmed if I needed four at least twice!! I am Indian, I know my food. It was not like I asked for ten or twenty pani puris at once! For almost $18 a buffet, on a Sunday when most of us have brunch, your staff needs to be trained for guests with some real appetite!

We visited the restaurant hoping to to get authentic Indian food. Unfortunately it was not upto the standard and to our expectations. The waiter was unfriendly. The ambience is average.

We met some friends for an impromptu dinner and were very happy. We ordered a variety of food and enjoyed it all. The food came extremely fast and the staff was very helpful.

This is the best Indian restaurant I've visited in the Midwest. The food was excellent and so was the service. Great variety on the buffet. Every dish I tried was tasty

One of the rare restaurants with Indian cuisine that I could find in downtown. A decent Indian buffet and ala carte on offer with plenty of vegetarian options. Good dessert too. Average taste though. Waiters are attentive.

Based on TR went to India House. Really disappointed. If this is the best Indian in Chicago then I dread to think what some of the others are like. I ordered the chicken jalfrezi. What was served was some not very tender chicken chunks in a thick not very spicy curry sauce also containing large pieces of broccoli. The service was OK but they brought us too many rices. The Indian beer, Taj Mahal, was tasty but a little sweet, however, it would have complimented a traditional jalfrezi had they made one. On a positive note the restaurant is well decorated with a traditional Indian theme.

We've been to India House several times over the past 6 months. All the classic dishes are prepared perfectly, served by capable staff, in a warm and friendly environment. It's pricier than other good Indian restaurants in Chicago (e.g., Cumin), but India House is far better located (for us anyway), with great quality and lovely surroundings.

If you like oily, tasteless food, then go here. My husband makes chole 10 times better than this. I've never eaten palak paneer where paneer is deep fried. Looks like they use Naan bought from the store. The chicken Tikka and lamb Biryani had color in it, oil floating on the top and very mediocre taste wise. We went there because it had a 4.3 rating. Had to ask for napkins and spoons. The plate given to us were wet. How does one eat bread in a wet plate. Very disappointed.

Nice place to have your Indian food to your taste though prices are on little high side. Service is good thus delays during rush hours. No wifi in the house compare to other restaurants. If that available it could have been better.

Located in the hip River North area of Chicago, this Indian restaurant caters to virtually any customer who wants Indian food. Its menu is varied, and everyone will find something yummy among the entrees. The nan bread is wonderful. Among the main dishes, I will single out the lamb pasanda, which has all the ingredients—rice, sauce, and lamb—cooked to perfection. And the Stella Artois beer was the ideal brew for this meal. India House has no streetside terrace, while the neighbouring restaurants do. In the colder months, that won't matter so much.

Dive in this restaurant with a wholesome appetite. Multiple options to choose from and indulge in papering yourself to the fullest. Tandoori Chicken is the best to have and their sweet dishes too. Have a light breakfast and come for lunch or else just step in for the heavenly loaded lunch treat!!

Overall, the food was tasty but nothing stood out as over the top of radically different from Indian restaurants I typically eat at. If you are looking for Indian food in this neighborhood - I would recommend it. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to dine here.

I wish I could give this establishment a negative review. I went there twice in the last one year and I do not vividly remember the experience the first time except that the food was below average. However service and ambience were okay , given its a restaurant in the city and was pricey. The latest time, we went on sunday the 7th and this time, I decided I will never step foot into the same restaurant again. Some feedback about the food... Samosas were made from frozen ones - Not fresh at all Every dish we tried was greasy and tasteless. Except it looks colorful ( Not in a good way).. with all the food coloring. ( My spice tolerance is low, for a south Indian.. but I enjoy tasty Indian food.. This was not tasty in any way) We were served stone cold breads. When we asked for fresh ones, the same ones were reheated and served. Service.. Service was underpar .. The staff reminded us atleast 3 times in 5 minutes that we would have to go pick up food otherwise they would start closing the buffet bar..( it was still 15 minutes to 3 PM) So when it was time to leave, we chose not to leave a tip, and the waiter had the audacity to remind that I have not left a tip !!! How Pathetic !!!

Indian restaurant well decorated. We wanted to have ala carte but they are not serving when buffet is there. The dishes are not much for vegetarians and not much to relish.

When asked for buffet price, we were told 20$ per person. At the time of bill $5 was the tax which was not told earlier. Ok fine it is acceptable. To our surprise $10 was charged as a tip for waiter. This is utter nonsense. Why we r supposed to pay it mandatorily. And if it is practice, it should be told earlier. Further, food was tasteless and below average. Not recommended.

Authentic. Great service. Large portions. Palek chicken was delicious. Quick and attentive wait staff

The food at India House is good. The dishes are tasty and the portions are adequate. The service is not very good, and the servers and staff in general are not very friendly. A bit pricy.

The Lunch Buffet was really great . They had a huge variety in vegetarian food along with some Non good nonveg . Tandoori chicken for starters and Veg Samosa were great . The tasty vast variety of delicious food at 15 dollars was a bargain . The deserts were great too , Gulab jamun mango ice cream and kheer were a nice finish to the meal. Only wish the staff was a bit cheerful right from the Manageress who was busy on the phone all the time.

The quantity was the first thing that struck me. Ordered a biryani, naan and the beigan bharta. Food was great. Please ensure you make a reservation if you are going on a weekend. Very close to the redline subway as well

Consistently delicious! We come here at least once a year and are never disappointed. Fast, polite service. Truly authentic. Beautiful decor and vibe.

During my last trip to USA during Nov -Dec, my supplier took me to this restaurant for a lunch. It was a buffet lunch as usual in USA. The spread was extensive. and whatever they served was at par or may be better than what we get in any good restaurant in India..! It was a cold snowy day and to my surprise the hotel was almost full inside. The staff was very attentive and the service was excellent. The sweets in the end were equally tasty. A true paradise for Indian food lover in USA.

India House is the best Indian Restaurant in downtown Chicago. They have the best buffet for lunch. Somewhat pricier than other restaurants, they have the best selection.

As fans of Indian food and wanting a change from US menus we were pleased to find this Indian restaurant. Service from Rose was lovely and she helped us navigate the menu. As we find portions in the US large we settled on some poppadoms to nibble and 2 mains - a chick pea dish and a chicken tikka masala. I am not a big fan of masala sauce though the chicken was tasty and my partner enjoyed their chick peas. Rice comes with mains so we also shared a bread - it was more than enough. The food was fine - nothing spectacular - though flavour and well cooked. Including a couple of kingfisher our bill came to $75 excluding a tip (we left cash). If you like Indian food and find yourself in the area you can do worse than try India House - you can reserve online.

I never come back to this restaurant, it took long time more than 15 mints before anybody asked us for our orders or prepare the table, by the way restaurant was empty when we arrived. really , I don’t recommend any body to visit this restaurant.
The Indian taste in chicago
That was a business trip. We have offered good space to accommodate 20 folks. Vegetarian Food was so good. Though they have non-veg food too but one can enjoy the Indian taste vegetarian food also. If anyone looking to taste Indian food in Chicago India house could be one of the good option.
