Having visited on other occasions and being convinced that this is THE best Indian restaurant in San Antonio, we ordered take-out for the first time ( not knowing what to expect). Our order was taken by a friendly competent young .man. When I called back to add their FABULOUS Mango chutney to the order ,the young lady who answered the phone was sweet and acommodating. But the food! OH the food! We always start with their light and crispy vegetable Samosas, full of fluffy potatoes ( I think) and perfect with their wonderful Mango chutney. The mango chutney is the perfect blend of mango fruity goodness with a slow heat that is subtle and gradually reveals itself as it warms your mouth in a wonderful way! The Chicken Biryani was a huge serving of wonderfully fragrant fluffy rice full of flavorful chunks of tender spicy chicken (not HOT,- there is a difference between flavor and heat) Many restaurant use heat to cover up a lack of flavor, not here!!!!! The Riata is a tangy yogurt based cucumber-y sauce, that is the perfect compliment to the rich spiciness of the Biryani . The Korma ( one can order chicken, shrimp ( and possibly lamb, I'm not sure) is a dish that is marinated in yogurt and each bite reveals an intoxicating blend of cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, coriander, cumin, AND magic I think! It defies description, and is rich and piquant, each bite reveals a different delightful treat for the taste buds. My Husband and I were speechless as we let all the flavors of India wash over us , I looked across the table and my Husband's eyes were closed with a big smile on his face LOL. The restaurant plays both Punjabi and Hindi music, for a wonderful authentic experience. We found an Indian station on my local cable TV service which played while we ate in our kitchen. After our meal, we were tempted to dance (!) the food was THAT GOOD, but, we just sat back , completely satisfied and satiated ! And you know, I could swear I could see the Taj Mahal in the distance! Oh, thank you great Indian food Magicians at the India Palace, thank You!

Perfectly spiced and freshly made taste , their onion kulcha is the best I have had in the US so far. the buffet had a good variety of veg and non-veg items .

The all you can eat lunch was very delicious with a lot of options. The setup caused for low maintenance from waiting staff. It was a little crowded by the corner with the booths but I enjoyed my date with my husband.

Salty food. Terrible servers. Biryani is not biryani. Its Indian fried rice. Literally way over priced for food standard

I sat where there was a view of the kitchen, and I saw the can of Raid sitting on the floor. So, my assumption is a clean kitchen has regular professional bug control and absolutely no bugs crawling around the restaurant, the food or the food preparation areas. Should a restaurant be doing spot spraying, like hitting a bug when it comes crawling out? I'm not an expert on restaurant bug control, but seeing this Raid can just strikes me wrong, so I won't be visiting again.

Me and my wife went first night and had good experience. Food is good but we were surprised when told that buffet meat is not halal. But thats ok for us as we were good with vegs and desserts. Second night, we went there again with 5 other couples in our tour group. But this time we had bad experience. One of my friends found a piece of metal in a curry. My wife found hair in other. We complained the manager and he shouted to the cook I guess. But thats it. Overall food is above average than other Indian buffet but expensive/

Once again this food is catered for the non-Indian palate. The buffet sure has a lot of varieties but none taste good. They are either sweet or lacking in real taste!.Not recommended for the Buffet price they offer.

We've been here several times and always get the buffet. We really like it. I saw other reviews that stated the food is bland. I totally disagree. Its spicy enough to make my nose run! The buffet is restocked on a regular basis and has plenty of variety. This is our favorite Indian restaurant in San Antonio.

India Palace was my favorite Indian food place in San Antonio. The food is simple, good and there is plenty of it. Even when it gets packed during lunch, the food never seems to run out. I have been to many Indian resturaunts in the area near the Medical Center and this was the best.

We went there on Friday lunch time and it was full house for buffet. Food was very food delicious. Must go place.

I love to go to this place with friends or family. Their buffet is low-priced and is filling and delicious. They also have a punch card, so be sure to pick one up because it won't be the last time you go!

You have to try the dinner or lunch buffet! The food was plentiful and very fresh. The buffet does give you and opportunity to savor a variety of different flavours and trust me the flavours are excellent. If your a vegetarian, there are numerous choices. Likewise if you enjoy fresh chicken or beef, you will find them here.

They have a very good buffet spread. The food is really delicious at very affordable prices. My compliments to the chef!

Very good. Most of the reviews do the India Palace justice. Both our meals were very well spiced, not too hot but just the right amount of heat. Very large portions.

I eat curry on occasion and when I do, I usually come to India Palace. It's a ways from me, but worth the trip. Met several girlfriends here this past week for a long afternoon pow-wow and catch up session. Love their Mango Lassies. You have to try it to understand. My favorite on the buffet is these little deep fried potato burito-like delights. I begin and end with them. The rice is great, the curry is delicious, the naan bread is the secret to their success. Their rice pudding with a mango custard addtion knocks the lunch out of the Indian ballpark. Can be very busy at noon time with the Medical Center nearby, but again, worth the wait and effort. Four out six of my friends rate this place their favorite over several of the nearby competiting restaurants including Bombay Hall. For $9.95 for lunch, it's a no-brainer.

I haven't been here in a couple of years. They've grown and are still packed! The buffet is simple but the food is amazing! There really isn't much atmosphere so don't go for any kind of experience. It's all about the food. Really good food.

My partner and I ate here on Valentine's Day for dinner. We decided to order off the menu instead of doing the buffet. I had the Vegetarian Dinner and a mango lassie, and she had the Palace Dinner and tea. Our food had a lot of flavor, more so than other Indian restaurants I've tried and everything was fresh and hot (heat). We sat for awhile before being acknowledged, but it seems like they expect everyone wants the buffet, which is more of a DIY experience. Once we asked for menus, we received prompt service. My water glass was ever full, and there was so much food we could have fed an entire village! It was a nice way to spend Valentine's Day.

I should have known better when all the customers were non-Indian. This is an ok restaurant if you are looking for Americanized Indian food. They have a buffet with variety of items. Service was friendly. I liked the veg items better than the non-veg. The soup and raita were terrible, the sag paneer was missing the paneer cubes, naan was good, other buffet items ok but nothing I would revisit.

We found the India Palace by accident, & after eating there over the past two years, continue to be impressed by the quality of the food & the general customer service. This restaurant is conveniently located in the Oaks Shopping Center on Fredericksburg Road, easy off the highway & next door to a Courtyard Marriott. The restaurant offers a great lunch buffet, a quality range of authentic Indian food items, along with a comfortable setting. A regular lunch & dinner service is also 1st rate. The take-out food is equally excellent, with no failure to date in my experience with getting the order right & including needed utensils, plates, & cups. This can be reliably offered by phone. Plenty of parking. The restaurant has an open window view into a part of the kitchen that enables you to watch the bread being baked in a huge round traditional clay-type oven. It is fun to watch this process while eating or waiting on your order. The food is outstanding with savory spices that Indian food lovers crave. The service is friendly & prompt, & it appears to have a large local following, which I believe is always a good sign. As a bonus, a fantastic Indian grocery store is next door that is well worth touring since the place also sells real Indian clothing, jewelry, & cooking items that will bring out the tourist & chief in you, leaving you walking away from a great meal with imported goods from India as well. A very nice combination. There is also a liquor store in the same strip, in case you want to have a party. Try the India Palace, & you will return every time you go to San Antonio!

Recently on a cold Sunday friends and I went for lunch at the India Palace. I had not been there in years and had remembered how delicious it was. Surprisingly, they have moved to a larger place in the same shopping center. I loved the new interior, it was truly a magical interior, pink walls with purple trim. It was nearly like being "I dream of Jeannie's bottle". Anyway, the buffet was delicious. It was if an Indian grandmother was back in the kitchen bringing new refreshed items to the line. They have a huge variety so you can taste each different one, they use wonderful indian spices nothing too hot or strong. I highly recommend this to anyone who might want to break away from fattening mexican food in San Antonio and try something else. You won't be disappointed. I think the price was all of $9.00 plus your drink. The crowd is highly diverse and interesting too.

The environment here was much cleaner than the other local Indian food we had visited. The buffet here was smaller, but they nailed the Tandoori Chicken and absolutely loved the Tikka Masala. The service was the only area that was a bit lacking, our drinks sat empty far too long and far too often, would have been 5 stars had they been more prompt in that area!

Definitely. You won't believe the place. You'll think is not good but the food is amazing and it's all in buffette so. Eat our brains out. Delicious

if we are in san antonio we always make sure we eat here!!!!

It's not often you find an Indian Restaurant with a buffet, if you are not really sure what you like the buffet is a great way to try everything. It's a must stop for us, each time we go to San Antonio.

Have eaten here for years and loved it, but not since COVID started. Very disappointed. The tandoori chicken was salty and lacking nice tandoori flavor. The mushroom matter masala was not seasoned, just blan. The chicken tikka masala, the chicken was very tough and not pleasing. The goat curry was very disappointing, no flavor and tough meat. The samosas were not crisp and were just potatoes ( not spiced) inside. The saag paneer was sad. I can’t say any of the dishes were like they used to be! The bread was good! Time to find a new Indian restaurant.

This is my go to Indian restaurant in San Antonio. They have a nice little buffet with a bunch of great dishes, a must go for Indian lovers.

I wouldn't say the food was great, but it was good. The price was reasonable. The mango pudding dessert was excellent.

My coworkers and I celebrated our monthly birthday club luncheon at the India Palace. I had never heard of that place but I've only lived in San Antonio for a year. I found the place to be very reasonable with a great selection of Indian foods on the buffet. I have nothing negative to say about my experience there. Several of my co- workers stated that it is their favorite place to eat Indian food. Only 10 minutes from my house so I will be going back soon!

Went here for lunch and had the buffet! It had good variety and was amazing. Not spicy (hot spice), but for me that I am thankful for. Even had a little bit of dessert to pick from. Staff was very generic. My tea never went empty, but I am not sure who my waitress was. Recommend!

Last time we went, this restaurant had really declined in the quality of its food. We got the buffet so that we could try different dishes, but the selection that day was not very good. The bindhi masala was dry and overcooked, the chicken was dry. Even the naan disappointed that day: dry and overcooked. The bill ran between 15 and 20 dollars per person, and it definitely was NOT worth it!

Good food, value for money with decent staff. One can go to enjoy typical Indian and Mughal food with friends, family.

Attention to all customers please give your tip directly to your hard working server. The owners are keeping all the tips for themselves. Attn owners: the glass jar in the counter full of tips earned by your waitstaff is not for you. This is completely illegal and I know that you are intelligent enough to know that this is 100% stealing from your staff. You will be reported to the authorities if you continue to withhold your staffs earnings. On a side note the food is very good, the servers are very nice & price is right!

In our current environment, we are not comfortable going into a restaurant and won’t order from a restaurant that has dine in people. It was great to find India Palace was doing take out curbside. We have eaten here many times - their buffet is excellent. We ordered several dishes and took them home. Each dish was individually shrink wrapped. Everything was excellent. We had chicken tikka masala, chicken korma, and mushroom mateer along with naan. Highly recommend the restaurant for takeout and eat in when times change for the better.

We have been to the restaurant several times over the years. Although the buffet does not change during the week, it is consistently good. Chicken tikka was excellent and the tandoori chicken was very good. Service was a little lacking - had to ask and wait for drink refill but other than that all was fine. And they give a senior discount if you ask.

Been there during memorial day weekend. They serve very good Indian buffet lunch. Veg and Non veg both. Surprisingly except us, all other customers were other than Indians. We had to wait for 5 minutes, which is nothing for unplanned visit. Food taste is great, Hygienic place, and customer friendly service.

Awesome flavor affordable pricing. It is buffet style, they do have some meat dishes and the naan bread was simply heavenly. We will be back

Very good cuisine for a buffet! Great chicken masala, lentel, and best of all the desserts! Go for the mango or rice options!

Went to this Indian restaurant for the buffet lunch. Food is quite good and the service is excellent. We enjoyed the chicken curry and the chicken tikka masala a lot. The tandoori chicken was also good. Especially liked the lentil soup.

The service is OUTSTANDING! The lunch buffet costs $7.95 but that does not include a drink. The variety of food is good but not great--not one dish was spicy. Overall, the food was tasty and hot but I missed the spice. There was a HUGE lunch crowd which definitely means the locals love this place. The cost is reasonable and the food is good so I will eat here again.

I really ate the buffet yesterday. It was so delicious especially the non vegetarian food. Price is average , I recommend definitely those who like Indian food.

"Great food at a great price"

Had the buffet - loads of different Indian dishes that let you try a little bit of everything - some spicy, some not. Tandoori chicken is the best, chicken masala, lentil soup, various vegetable dishes all good.

This is a wonderful little restaurant that I ALWAYS patronize when I am in San Antonio. I have enjoyed their food for 14 years. It is located at the inner corner position in the commercial center at the intersection of Wurzbach and Fredericksburg Rd. Parking is never a problem. The owner is almost always in attendance and always has a cheery word. There has been very little turnover of waitstaff and cooks over the years. The physical ambiance is modest but clean and appropriately ethnic. The waitstaff are pleasant and attentive. The place is usually fairly full of diners, a mixed lot as at most Indian restaurants, young and old, singles and groups, very multicultural, with lots of folks from the nearby Texas medical complex. Attire is casual and the atmosphere is unpretentious. The people are there to have a delicious meal at a fair price. I always opt for their extensive buffet, which varies a bit from day to day. Some diners, usually ethnic Indians, order from the menu. I generally start by making a salad from their fresh greens and freshly cut fruits, topped with a raita. Then comes a mixture of dishes from their hot bar, usually including plain Basmati rice, fresh naan, a selection of their wonderful vegetable dishes (which are mildly to strongly and exotically spiced), and their heavenly tikka masala over the rice. Mmmm good! After seconds, desert is usually a bowl of chilled rice pudding topped with a layer of Mango custard. All of this is washed down with a bottomless glass of iced tea. A most satisfying meal, indeed, and quite reasonably priced as the above with tip at dinnertime would be in the $17 range per person.

The ambiance is cozy and warm. All the different dishes are cooked to perfection. Abundance of options, suitable for vegetarians too! You must try Aloo Baingan- the best eggplant in gravy ever- . Remember to leave room for the exquiste desserts.

Went in first time for lunch, was seated and without a "hi how are you?", it was more like "what do you want to drink?". The drinks were set on the table, nothing said. Only two of us for lunch as we sat there in the middle of 3 girls waiting on the tables all around us. After 20 minutes of NO SERVICE (as if we were invisible), it was time to leave. While I was telling the cashier what had happened and that we were not paying for the drinks, the girl who brought them to the table showed up and looked at me as if I sprouted a second head. Whatever; I will NOT return.

This restaurant is my favorite for Indian food. I first visited this restaurant in 2004 when I was first stationed in San Antonio. I returned 16 years later and not much has changed. They have an excellent lunch and dinner buffet. Most Indian restaurants do not have dinner buffets but their is outstanding. Large variety of items. You will over eat in this place and the prices are reasonable. It is an Alamo City Institution

I've come to this place several times, and never leave disappointed. While it is obviously mostly Americanized Indian food, the flavor and richness are awesome. My favorite is the saag paneer, and the naan is on point. The biggest let down for me is the mushroom curry. It's good, but I can't get past the texture of the canned mushrooms. Regardless, I really like this place, and would recommend and visit again.

As always India Palace consistently hits the spot for some very tasty Indian food. The curry chicken and tiki masala is my first go to although the saag paneer, lentil soup and their other veggies are always very tasty. I've been to other India restaurants but none are quite as good. Wait staff is friendly and service is good. Don't forget to have your card punched after the sixth visit your next meal is free.

Had a party at home and we wanted to see if this very good take out could step up for a party of fifteen. We started ordering and they began to ask more detail about the event and when we were afraid that there would not be enough food and tried to order more dishes, they insisted that we stop and that what we ordered would be more than enough. Well the food was very good and as they predicted the food was more than enough and even had enough for some to take home

A buffet and menu option with plenty of seating was perfect for a company meet and great. Everyone left happy as we forged new relationships

Not much of an ambience but the food is consistently good not great! For anyone who has never tried Indian food, the buffet is a great way to sample several traditional dishes. If you're going for dinner on the weekend, try to get there before 7pm as it does get busy!

The food was delicious. The restaurant serves in a buffet style. There was a good variety of dishes. The service was excellent and very timely.

Great food. Option of all day buffet is perfect. Quick in and out. Wonderful food with reasonable price.

I have 2 favorite Indian Buffets in San Antonio, and this is one of them. Everything is always hot and fresh, the selection is great so you can try anything your heart desires. The mean is always coming out of the kitchen pipping hot.

My wife and I ate lunch recently at India Palace and were pleasantly surprised. It is not at all fancy, and it is in the middle of an outdated strip mall, so expectations were rather low. We were hungry and it seemed more appetizing than Whataburger, so we tried it. I typically avoid buffet food from any culture, but we were in a hurry. The price of roughly $10 each for the buffet and Cokes was very good. The flavors of the buffet items were right; they didn't seem watered down or cheapened for the buffet, as is the practice at some places. Service was friendly and quick (also not too common in Indian restaurants). Overall, a very good experience. It's not where I would go for a big night out or major celebration; but for a quick, flavorful Indian meal at a fair price, it is exactly right.

Love the buffet. A great value and very tasty. Equal value eat in vs to go. Most dishes are very good. The chicken tikka masala is particularly tasty - some restaurants tend to make dish too sweet. The saag paneer and Chana masala are excellent as well. A good variety in the buffet - vegetarian and meat dishes. We love to get the the mango yogurt dessert.

My son suggested India Palace on our recent trip returning him to UTSA for the Spring semester. This was my first experience with Indian cuisine and I was delighted to find a buffet with many selections. I did eat more than I usually do since I wanted to try most everything. They also have a beer and wine selection which I did not see on the web site menu. I found them reasonably priced and the food was delicious.

The best Indian food in town except it's so hot (spicy) you can't eat it. I've enjoyed India Palace for more than 20 years but lately it's gotten hotter and hotter. The rice, Dal, Tandoori Chicken, Saag Paneer, Vegetable Samosas, and Nan were wonderful - most else way too hot. I have to go in knowing I'm paying full price for the buffet but able to eat of less than half the offerings.

had the lunch buffet and it seems food quality has gone way down - no shortage of quantity but not the most appealing lunch and wont be back

By far the best Indian in town. We had the buffet which although a bit limited was of very good quality. Lovely flavours and all very hot and fresh.

Wonderful food at a great price! We always eat here when we visit San Antonio. The chicken tikkamasala and samosas are fabulous!

My four-star rating would apply to those who have never been to India and pertains to the buffet. There are some reviews written by Indians giving it three stars; I lived in India for 16 years and agree with their rating. But let's face it, to stay in business, you must cater to the tastes of the people in that area and the food at India Palace is Americanized. That said, it's still very tasty. The dishes here are more spicy-hot than many restaurants in the city. The buffet offers some dishes not often seen, such as egg curry. Each dish has a distinct flavor here; not so with some buffets. So if you're a novice with Indian cuisine and aren't afraid of a little heat, give India Palace a try.

Visited this place in for dinner. It is big and lot of seating available. There is a dinner buffet at this place, however only north Indian menu items available.

Wide variety of dishes.

We went here for the dinner buffet. The place is clean, the food hot, and flavorful. A piece of hot, fresh naan is included.

First time eating at this restaurant. Small buffet with very good food. Restaurant was clean. Waitress cordial and prompt. We went for seconds.

Always dependable. The food quality is constant and there are abundant choices for Vegetarians. The great variety offers all degrees of spice, so there is something for everyone. You can also order excellent entrées à la carte.

I thought it was odd the waitress didn't write down our orders but figured she was just a good experienced waitress. Turns out she might have forgotten to bring out a few things we ordered. When we got to the register to pay they asked us what we ordered. I repeated my order as best I could. My bill was much higher than I expected. The food was about what you'd expect. Nothing fabulous but not gross. I've had better, I've had worse. There was really nothing outstanding about the place. Probably wouldn't go back, even tho the food was ok. The staff were not at all friendly. Like they were doing us a favor to serve us & wouldn't even bring menus until we repeatedly asked. I guess they couldn't believe we didn't want to eat off the buffet bar.

The buffet is the best. The food is great and the mabience is nice and cozy. Make sure to have some mango lassi (manso smoothie) to wash the food down with. The spices are done right and the naans are nice and soft.

This is a no-frills, buffet-style Indian restaurant. I have been twice now - once for the lunch buffet and now for the dinner buffet. I went most recently in a group of four, two of whom had lived in India and suggested this restaurant as one of their favorites. It was a Friday night, but we arrived before the rush and were seated immediately. The server did a terrific job of keeping our water glasses filled and clearing dirty dishes from the table. I love being able to pick what I want from the buffet. My favorites are the samosas, the dal, and the potatoes with eggplant, as well as the rice pudding. My husband is partial to the saag paneer (spinach with cheese). The main dining area was clean and the music was audible, but not so loud that we couldn't converse comfortably. The wall has a huge picture of the Taj Mahal, as well as some other pictures. The women's bathroom was clean, although the trash can was overflowing. I noticed a drinking glass on the floor of the adjacent stall (?!). Overall, a great dinner. We will definitely be back.

This is a great Indian restaurant. It is a buffet, but every dish is wonderful. It is extremely affordable at $10 for all you can eat. I have been here many times and they are consistently good with friendly, unrushed service. A favorite locale of mine.

pretty good chicken tikka masala and saag paneer. i also like the daal.

The food was okay, and the tables are tightly packed. Our seats are torn. The tables have some Bollywood actress posters under the glass. India is only Bollywood ?? The food and service were mediocre. The server spilled food on my kid, while taking the plates away. The same buffet costs $9.99 until 2:59 PM, and at 3:00 PM it costs $12.99. Luckily, we have better Indian restaurants. I will go else where next time.

This is the best indian food in all of San Antonio. They have great service and their lunch buffets is chalk full of classic indian cuisine not to mention outstanding desserts. Great bang for your buck. Go, you will love it!

A bargain price buffet (8 dolars),average food, saag, tikka massala, egg plant and potatoes, lentil soup, everything with a so so taste, one more option if you are in the area. There must be better indian food in San Antonio. The service is mediocre at most.

Have been here twice in the last year. My summer visit was better than my winter visit. Buffet was nearly depleted when we arrived. When it was replenished, everything was very good and at the right temp. Service was a little slow, but friendly. Loved the Naan.

The Misses and I gave the noon buffet a try. Lots of people chowing down on tasteless dishes. Absolutely no spices in any of the dishes. A blind man could not have told one dish from the other. I did not have trouble getting the taste out of my mouth. I ate two servings of rice pudding just to fill up. After a $22.00 check I swore this place off. Me no likey.

This was my first real experience with Indian cuisine, so I can not compare India Palace with other restaurants, but for me it was a winning experience. I enjoyed the buffet, sampling a variety of dishes, all of which tasted delicious. Lovely curries, warm nan, crispy samosas. The ambiance was nice and the servers were attentive. And there are free refills on the Chai tea!

For anyone who has never tried Indian food, you don't know what you're missing! Well, you have to like spicy, not hot, flavors, to really fall in live with Indian food as my family has. We have tried just about every Indian restaurant in San Antonio and without a doubt, India Palace has the best food!

Omg the taste was so good and tasty I was so impressed! The servers were very amazing and friendly and had great knowledge of the menu

We love to visit this restaurant when we are in San Antonio. When we lived in San Antonio, we ate here at least once per week. The food is always fresh, delicious and affordable.

We had a buffet dinner on 1st Jan. They only have one veg and one non-veg appetizer. All curries were good but not best. Kheer (desert) was delicious!!. Naan was soft and well cooked.

After trying a few others in town, this is our favorite Indian Buffet in the area. The food was great and everything was hot, fresh and well stocked. Only negative was how crowded (and loud) the place was, yet they would not allow us to sit in the second section even though another family was seated there. We would have enjoyed not being cramped, less than a foot from the next table, and being able to carry on a conversation.

This is without doubt the worst Indian restaurant I have ever been to. The food is not authentic Indian, the service was terrible and I actually walked out. The only good thing was that the management didn't make me pay for my food. Simply terrible there are much better Indian restaurants in San Antonio

For $9 you get to try a variety of Indian dishes. If you want to order off of the menu, you also have that option. I knew this place was good because when we arrived there, there was a line to wait for a table. I have to say everything that I tried was good. I especially liked the nan :)

Came to India Palace for buffet. Their buffet is fantasticwitj awesome dishes. Love Tandoori chicken and Eggplant and Potato and everything else. Staff is friendly.

We go out of our way to visit India Palace whenever we are in San Antonio. They offer a superb lunch buffet at a very reasonable price. The dishes offered are an excellent mix of meat-based and vegetarian fare, which suits both my wife and myself very nicely. I have only 2 minor comments that could be considered negative. The first is very personal. I would like to have the overall spice level a bit higher, but fully realize that most may not prefer the extra heat. Second, if management is reading this, please give us some gulab jamun! It should be obvious…India Palace has my highest recommendation.

India palace was a disappointment- the food was quite bland and ordinary. My Indian palate expected better than that.

This was the first indian restaurant that we tried in San Antonio and it turned out to be a good one. Pros: Variety of cuisine, location as its in main restaurant hub, food quality, amazing staff and owners Cons: It takes a lot of time to get the order despite the staff saying 5-10 mins

Never been fond of Indian Food until a visit to India but a friend took me to try India Palace. I decided on the buffet, and thou I am vegan I was so surprised that there were at least 5 options for me, not counting the rice dishes. Let me start by saying they made me Naan that was dairy free and it was very good. Every dish I had was delicious, thou I would have loved a lot less potatoes in every dish. Luckily you can avoid getting so many on your plate. The service is always good and the food excellent. I now have more choices in San Antonio.

We stopped here for lunch having just arrived in San Antonio. We selected this restaurant based on Trip Advisor reviews. The salad bar was quite extensive, but the food quality was average at best. Nothing really stood out in the buffet items we tried.

Been coming here for two decades- the samosas, sag paneer and naan are delicious. Simple decor works for me and nice staff.

I've been coming to this restaurant for 20 years, if that says anything! I come for the lunch or dinner buffet. My favorite is their sag paneer, but there is usually a nice assortment of vegetarian and meat dishes that I also enjoy. All you can eat naan & samosas, what's not to love? Their mango lassi is yummy.

Food is catered for the non indian clientele. Having come from England I guess I expected more. Food is bland and watered down and not a representation of real indian food.

This was our first time to go here and we were not disappointed. The buffet was great especially the eggplant. The staff was attentive and very friendly. After dinner we went next door to a small grocery store.

The food was certainly good. Glad that they offer lunch and dinner buffet. Small area and too many tables. Not for the quite dinners..!

We were visiting San Antonio, Tx and Googled for the best Indian Restaurants. Yes, this was the restaurants for Indian authentic tasty dishes and buffet. The dinner buffet was $12.95 per person with lots of varieties. This restaurants must be popular among locals had little waiting time but we got table soon. We highly recommend this restaurants for tasty Indian food.

This was our first visit to India Palace, we were 5 adults in our group. We were at this place on Sunday afternoon, our total bill was around $65.00 plus tip. Many varieties of Indian delicacies, food was mainly from North India.Excellent choice and very good taste, we ate so much that we had to skip our dinner. Friendly and courteous staff. Best part about this place that they have buffet all day long. Everything we tried it was great.Since we know about this place, now on every time we are going to visit, we will visit this place, and also we won't hesitate in recommending this place to anyone.

India palace ....m'eh....thats about it. The food was not that good at all. Samosas were obviously frozen and re-cooked. (probably purchased frozen from a store as well). its basically cheap Indian buffet. Not worth your time.

We have dined in dozens of Indian restaurants in several countries and on a recent visit to San Antonia selected this one for a night out. We usually order from the menu rather than the buffet and selected three different dishes, nan, and papadum. It was all excellent and the quantity was substantial. The restaurant was busy and considering the day (Tuesday) always a good sign. The buffet looked quite acceptable and most everyone seemed to go that route. The staff were friendly and would I'm sure offer guidance to those who chose a la carte. It's well worth a visit.

One of my favorite restaurants so far. Lunch buffet is yummy. So much to choose from, both veg and non veg. 9.99$ lunch and 11.95$ for dinner.

My 1st time, and if you have HEARTBURN, make sure you take your little PURPLE PILL 1st. The flat bread and the roasted chicken had great flavor.

We've enjoyed several lunch buffets at the India Palace. The food is good, the service is attentive, and the restaurant's conveniently located on the northwest side for anyone coming into the city for medical services or shopping, While the buffet items aren't always as (thermally) hot as one might like, they're well prepared and one can always either wait or ask for the item to be refreshed. India Palace has become a favorite for us -- and apparently for many of those employed at the nearby health care facilities. We've often heard groups come in at lunchtime and ask for their "usual" table. Twenty dollars buys a very satisfactory lunch (with unlimited rice pudding and a delectable mango custard for dessert!) for two. We've certainly spent more for much less. Though we're not Indian, we sometimes enjoy Indian cooking at home, so the proximity of the restaurant to a nearby Indian grocery is a plus.

This is the best Indian restaurant ever! Great place for family. Even my friends from the east coast loves this place and there are so many Indian restaurants there.

This is a great buffet with a good variety of all the favorites and some things that were new to us. Everything was high quality and good and spicy just like we like it. Very friendly service.

We went for the lunch buffet one of our party likes really hot food and did not think this was very hot. The rest of our group liked the food very much as there is spice but not heat to it. Some of our party have issues with some types of food and this did not bother them at all. I gave this a four because the buffet was fairly small but everything was very good and was kept full. You can see the person making the nan as you walk in they are in as glass enclosure. This is a corner spot of a strip mall so nothing real elaborate but was roomy enough and being lunch very busy. All in all a very good place that is not too hot for those who may want to try a different type of food but don't want anything too hot.

I really love this place, food is consistent , it's never been a day that I didn't like my meal, there is plenty to choose and everything is yummy, I love their Nan and the mint and coriander sauce, and don't forget to save some space for dessert!

Some of the best Indian food I have had and I've eaten a lot. I lived in Asia for 13 years and am always hunting for good Asian food. This will be on the top of my list.

We went here this past Sat night - 6 of us in all (we have gone to this restaurant many times over the past 20 years). My husband is Indian as were the guests that we took. Although they are S. Indian and this is N Indian food, they all thought it was excellent. We are vegetarian and there are plenty of options to choose from. I especially like the Channa Masala and Sag Paneer and Naan bread. For dessert I love the Mango pudding and Rice pudding and of course the Masala Chai. The price is excellent especially for the quality of the food.

I enjoy Indian food. While this was not bad I did not love it. It tasted bland for Indian food. They do have a buffet which is nice for people wanting to try different things. You can order off the menu as well. It was ok, but not great Indian food.

We have tried many Indian restaurants in San Antonio. This one is by far, the best value for money. The food in most of the other places are either too bland and uninspiring or too spicy. Try the buffet here, you won't be disappointed. The food is tasty, typical North Indian fare and the vegetarian curries are amazing. There is at least one new curry to try every time we visit. The dessert is standard fare with gulab jamuns and mango custard usually. But don't forget to try the mango lassi. Staff are courteous and the place is neat.

The food was great but service was slow. We had a large group but we were the only ones there. We ordered from the menu. It took extra long to get the food ready. With kids its hard to wait. Atmosphere is good.

I have traveled to India 6 times staying for up to 4 months at a time. I've traveled all over India (from Kerala and Tamil Nadu in the south to Kashmir and Sikkim in the north). I love good, spicy Indian food. The quality of the food at India Palace is generally good, but it is quite lacking in terms of being spicy; it has adapted to local tastes. Also, you will find non-Indian items (meatballs, for one) on their buffet. Their samosas tend to be about the only dish that has any spiciness, and they won't give your tongue a tingle. Among the good: Their tandoori chicken has that smokey taste it should have. Often, their vegetable dishes have the most flavor. Among the bad: They put their naan on the buffet, so it is soft and soggy by the time you eat it. You sometimes have to search to find the cheese in the Palak Paneer. The sad thing is that most Indian restaurants in San Antonio start out with rather good, spicy food and quickly become quite bland because they try to cater to the masses rather than to a smaller audience of those who appreciate quality.

we really enjoyed the lunch buffet at this place which was a sudden plan . it has almost all the dishes of north Indian food there . the staff was very courteous and they help us to make our experience wonderful . they were fast to remove used plates and prompt in bringing naans. the veg dishes were equally good as non veg dishes . i like the nav ratan korma and butter chicken most . the dessert is only scope of improvement . Tip : it has Indian grocery store also adjacent to it

Lamb Khorma a standout. Good buffet.

Always delicious, the quality never changes here -the food is always wonderful! We like to start with the vegetable samosas little "pillows" of delicately spiced potatoes- I recommend dipping in their wonderful mango chutney. The Chicken Korma consists of succulent ,tender pieces of chicken, in a cream sauce that contains raisins, cashews and ,magic, I think . Their Aloo gobi , (cauliflower and potatoes ) is in a DEE-LICIOUS spicy (not "hot") tomato sauce, you can have sag (spinach ) added to it, it's wonderfully tasty! Their authentic Indian breads are served warm (yum) and don't leave without having some Mango (!) pudding for dessert, My Husband and I have eaten Indian food all over the United States and Europe ( Including London which has a large Indian population ) and we've never had better , we LOVE this place!

Went there to celebrate hubby's birthday. Found the food a bit bland for my taste. Maybe they keep it that way for others but thats not in keeping with the Indian taste. Also the food was just lukewarm and not hot. Overall a disappointing experience.

This is our favorite Indian Restaurant in the country. The food is always excellent, and the price is very reasonable.

I fell in love with this place the first time I ate here. The samosas, the naan, the saag paneer, all of it is so tasty. I'll admit this: there was a time when I would have rated India Palace a perfect 5. It seems like the've made some subtle changes to their recipes (maybe using different ingredients) and the result is that I don't enjoy it AS much. But it's still great. The service is prompt, if a little stiff/stand-offish. But I don't hold that against them. Their staff is courteous and quick, I just can't say that I feel the warmth and friendliness that I enjoy at other restaurants. Bottom line: I love eating here! PRO TIP: I dip my samosas in the purple sauce AND the green sauce (which can be found on the fruit/dessert cart) as I eat them!

The pakoras were good however the rest of our meal (chicken tikka masala, garlic naan) lacked flavor. We were disappointed to say the least after hoping for a flavorful meal away from home.

We visit this restaurant every time we go to San Antonio. Food has an extraordinary flavor. Real India taste. All you can eat for a reasonable price.

I went here for dinner buffet and we don't like the buffet dishes, so we asked the waiter to get us the menu. But they refused to give us the menu and said, we have to go ahead with buffet dishes only, as if we order any menu food, it will take nearly 1 hour. As we were very tired, we finished with buffet, while leaving we ordered one food item from menu, and it got ready in 5 minutes. What a hell service. The cashier is very rude, we already kept tip at the table, and he forcibly asked us to keep the tip again in front of him. Worst place, and never ever will visit again to this place.

This is probably as authentic you can get here! I first had Indian while serving in the Middle East and came to love it! We came at noon for the buffets and even though I'm not a fan of buffets it was wonderful! I thought the spices were right on (perhaps not quite as spicy for me) and everything we sampled was wonderful. The service took care of drinks and plates and they kept the warmers full. A surprise for me was the cabbage masala which was fantastic. Overall a must if you are in the area or craving great Indian food.

Tried India Palace for the first time based on customer reviews. The food was excellent. We tried the buffet and tasted every dish. They were all very good. The food was not spicy at all. The Indian beer was good as well. We are definitely coming back.

Having eaten Indian food all over the country ( we're originally from Boston which has a large Indian population ( Cambridge especially ,where so many Indian students come to study at MIT and Harvard) ,we like to think we know good Indian food. We recently bought a home in San Antonio after having lived for 3 years in England which also has a large Indian population, so, we were skeptical as to whether we would find even passable Indian food here in San Antonio, the land of the Taco (I myself am half Mexican) and Barbecued Brisket. Well... imagine our surprise when we had one of the best Indian meals of our lives this past Saturday night. When you arrive at the India Palace you might be taken aback at the fact that it is in a strip mall, don't be-, walk in and get ready to enjoy some fabulous food! We started off with the vegetable Samosas ( which can be greasy, heavy and tasteless if not done right, these were heaven, the potato filling was wonderfully flavorful , wrapped inside of a crispy, flaky, light-as air pastry wrapper. We ordered one order( 2 generous sized "dumplings") that were SO GOOD, we asked our waitress to bring us another order, right on the spot! For the main course we had Shrimp Biryani ( I was astounded at the generous size of the shrimp) a wonderfully piquant shrimp and rice dish that is PACKED with flavor, spicy yet not "hot"-so often "heat is used to disguise the lack of flavor in a dish, no need for such deception here, the dish was DEE-LICIOUS! We also had the Chicken Korma ,a chicken dish which features chicken in a rich ,spicy "gravy" which is served with Basmati rice. The rice was a generous serving and flavorful, but the star here was the Korma, a creamy dish that featured large tender chunks of flavorful chicken simmered in coconut milk ,ginger, yoghurt and (my guess is) MAGIC. This dish here was so much more than the sum of it's ingredients, they blended together to become something else entirely, each time you thought you had the flavor "pinned" , your taste buds discovered another flavor, within the flavor, it was spicy ,rich and complex. We are BIG eaters and couldn't finish all our food so we took it home. When we walked out of The India Palace my Boston born Husband said " I think I just discovered one more reason to like San Antonio", I just smiled and said "amen"!

I generally hit this restaurant about once a month when I'm in San Antonio. I enjoy the selections they offer, especially the tandoori chicken and the chicken masala. While the food is not as spicy as I like, it is suitable for the general public. To top it off, they offer a rice pudding-like dish and, my favorite, mango custard. The ambiance is nothing to write home about, but the restaurant is clean and pleasant. The service is attentive without being obtrusive. Overall, it makes for a consistently good experience with this ethnic cuisine.
Hot and Fresh Buffet!
The buffet is always hot and fresh and they seem to constantly be refilling it. Everything is really tasty. The place always is busy and the staff is very nice. Tonight there was a wedding going on in the back room!
