Great food..awesome service... BEST ever roasted brussel sprouts!!! The chocolates finally were delious

We chose Intero because of the ratings we read in the American Statesman. We were seated at a great table and at first our waiter, Will C, seemed really interested in serving us. He explained the suggestion of choosing foods from each of the 3 courses to have a continuous flow of different dishes coming to the table. We explained that that seemed like a lot of food for us plus we have two people with dietary restrictions. He seemed a little put off by our decision. We ordered the Brussels sprouts which were everything that we had read about them. We made our dinner choices and again was put off that several of us chose the risotto because it is a 30 minute prep. We assured him that that wasn’t a problem because we were there to visit and dine. When one of us ordered the risotto and requested no spring onion and beets he became very pushy telling her why she should really change her mind. She once again explained that it was a dietary/health reason yet he still pushed his opinion. I finally pushed back and asked if there was a hospital close by if she followed his suggestions. After our order was taken we saw very little of him. We had to flag him for more water and to order more drinks. Our entrees were very flavorful. When he brought out the dessert menu we were all laughing because the print was so small. He failed to see the humor in 3 couples using the magnifiers on their phones to read the choices. When the bill arrived we were all frustrated that the gratuity was included. We are generally generous tippers when service warrants it. This would not have been one of those times. The restaurant is great for a slow paced, European style dinner. I just hope you get a different server.

My girlfriend and I came here for our anniversary. Truly one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. Everybody was extremely nice and attentive, thanks James and everybody else! The general manager/Somm sold us on a great Virginian Cabernet franc(the Virginia wine revolution is here). The goat shoulder pasta with orange and saffron they were serving that day was one of the best pasta dishes I’ve tasted. Finished off the meal with homemade chocolate truffles which were out of this world. One of the new gems of Austin at a price that can’t be beat. We will most definitely be back.

We had a family party for a birthday at this restaurant. It was a very disappointing meal with poor service, inconsistent food and poor acoustics. The owner claims this is a traditional Italian restaurant. No it is not. It is Tex Mex Italian fusion. They had ingredients that are not cooked together in Italian cooking. The cannelloni looked like a tortilla and it was very tough and salty The portions were small and really a very limited menu. When I spoke to the owner about our problems with some of the dishes he was very condescending and insulted me that I did not understand true Italian cooking. That was ridiculous because I have eaten in many fine Italian restaurants in Italy, New York and San Francisco. I would not recommend this restaurant and it was a miserable disappointing meal.

well, here we go again. Italian? Focaccia with Honey ?? Bruschetta with Fish ?? Gnocchi with overabundant red beets ??? Give us a break! That's not Italian, that's a desperate try to make something different and hope that the non-Gourmet newbies in Austin get excited about it, as they don''t know how Italian food should taste. Instead of focussing on ingredients for a specific recognizable taste, the place mixes all kind of different and opposing tastes until the dishes have no distinguishable taste anymore. And of course all is served in a way so you can eat it with only a fork as your hosts probably can't eat with fork and knife.

Intero lived up to the hype with delicious food, fantastic service, and reasonable prices, especially compared to some other Italian spots in Austin! It’s going on our list for “must return to” restaurants for sure! My husband and I made a reservation for Saturday night at 7:15 pm to celebrate our anniversary. They had a laminated card placed on the table that said “Happy Anniversary” and our server offered us a complimentary toast of champagne at the start of the meal. Another server ended up offering us a second glass of champagne at the end of the meal as he was clearing off plates which was incredibly thoughtful and generous! FAST FACTS: * Reservations - available through OpenTable (indoor or outdoor) * Parking - there’s a small lot to the left of the restaurant with free parking but also street parking available on E Cesar Chavez * Dog friendly - dogs are welcome on the patio * Happy hour - Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 5:00 - 6:30 pm * Closed on Mondays * Menu changes based on seasonal availability (farm-to-table) SERVICE - Our server, Hayley, was phenomenal! She was so sweet and personable and always made sure we had what we needed. She was willing to offer her opinion on dishes when asked, constantly brought us water when needed, and had a big smile on her face the entire time. PRICING - I found the pricing to be very reasonable for the portion size you get! Our meal came out to $90 after tax for a small plate, pizza, two pasta entrees, and a dessert. SOURDOUGH FOCACCIA (8/10) - The savory taste of the house made ricotta paired so well with the earthy taste of the thyme and the sweetness of the honey. You get 4 pieces of focaccia but our server offered to bring out 2 more pieces to help us polish off the ricotta. The focaccia slices are toasted so they’re crispier than some I’ve had but they were delicious. PORK SAUSAGE PIZZA (10/10) - We got this as an “appetizer” (quotes because who gets an entire pizza as an appetizer? We do apparently) and are so happy we did! The crust was crispy from the wood fired oven but not too crispy where it tears up the roof of your mouth trying to eat it. The pork sausage was so flavorful and the broccoli and gruyere were a unique combination that we really enjoyed! The farm egg was the highlight for me because I LOVE a running yolk… I dipped the rest of my crust in it and loved every bite! BUCATINI (9/10) - This seems to be their most popular pasta dish and I can see why… it was fantastic! Their house made pasta is incredible and served al dente which is my preference. The truffle taste from the sottocenere al tartufo and the burnt garlic flavors really come through which I LOVED! It’s a heavier pasta dish so the portion size is more than enough to leave you feeling full. BROWN BUTTER CAKE (10/10) - I’ll be having dreams about this dessert and I’m not mad about it. The cake is light, fluffy, and moist and the cinnamon gelato on top is DEVINE! It melts over the cake as you eat it and then the brown sugar and butter sauce, pecans, and brûléed meringue compliment it with a variety of textures. I will say it’s very sweet so be sure to bring your sweet tooth! TRUFFLES (9/10) - We had to try some of their chocolate truffles! We got a peanut butter and honey truffle and a dark chocolate caramel truffle but our server also included some vanilla chai bark. They were all delicious and definitely worth trying! This was a fantastic experience from start to finish and we will absolutely recommend Intero to others!

This was the best meal we had while staying in Austin. All food was freshly prepared, nicely presented and most importantly very tasty. Staff v attentive. We paid $158 for three.

14 person dinner for colleagues traveling to Austin for a meeting. Mix of vegetarian and carnivores. Great wait staff advised on a tasting menu and wine. Think we had just about everything on the menu, small and large plates. Each dish covering flounder, shrimp, beef, lamb and pork with a mix of grains and vegetables. Just the right amount. We shared the lovely dark chocolate made by the owner. Desserts of lemon sorbet and panna cota. Topped off by an Amari tasting (liqoures). Wonderful dining experience. $76 per person including wine. A special treat.

We flew into Austin after being away for 20 years and needed a place to eat. It was late in the evening (around 10 pm) and most of the places were closed. This was surprising because we thought places stayed open late on Friday Nights. Anyway, after looking for another place and not finding it, we stumbled on this place. What a find! The food was AMAZING! The portion sizes were a bit smaller than we expected but what there was made us want more. I would even have licked the plate to get all that goodness! We had the Spaghettini, Paccheri, and Quail. For Dessert we had the Sipping Chocolate and Panna Cotta. Our server, sorry forgot his name and receipt just says "Bar T", but he couldn't have been more friendlier or helpful ( a trait more Wait Staff personnel around this world should adopt). When we go back to Austin, this will be a "MUST VISIT" Restaurant on our list.

This place was incredible. My wife and I have eaten all over the world and this was one of the best dinners we’ve ever had. The owners were wonderful. Our waitress was awesome. Indulge yourself—you won’t be disappointed.

We are so excited to have found this new restaurant in Austin! Innovative menu, interesting wine list, attentive service and hip atmosphere - but not so loud that we couldn’t comfortably converse with everyone at the table. Intero has a nice bar as well - we went back a few days later for an amaro tasting and chocolate - a fascinating tour of Italy - fun and delicious! Perfect for a nice, relaxed dinner or a quick stop before / after a show.

Imagine a restaurant that thinks of every detail--food-wise and other--and then crank the service level up to 11, and you get a glimpse of the delight that is Intero. I cannot wait to visit Austin again, mainly just to dine here. We were a group of 7 work colleagues that became a party of 9, and they were happy to modify my reservation a few hours before dinnertime. (The restaurant staff were also able to accommodate another 3 who hadn't bothered to tell me they were coming and just showed up; the restaurant staff handled this situation graciously). I am happy to report that they have a private alcove that can fit 12. There is a gluten-free menu available and vegetarian options. I ordered the burrata small plate--a ball of burrata stuffed with house-made basil ricotta--which was ample for sharing (it also came with toasted bread and grilled eggplant). I also ordered the duck breast with risotto, which will haunt my culinary dreams thanks to a well-thought-out combination of creamy risotto, savory duck, fresh kernels of corn, and toasted hazelnuts. I've included photographs of both of these items. The font on the menu is a little small, so they provide reading glasses for people like me, still in denial about needing to buy my own pair. Everyone else was pleased with their orders too. The meal ended with complimentary mocha chocolate bark; I also ordered the drinking chocolate, which is incredibly rich. House-made truffles can be ordered for dessert or boxed to-go.

Lovely, relaxed dining. We didn't feel hurried or pressured to get more. The food here is top notch, with creative recipes. Try the charred cabbage appetizer! I had the brisket pizza .. yes brisket which was delicious. Hubby got mafaldina pasta with Bolognese sauce.. and of course dessert for him. Messina P was great and professional. This is our go to spot for celebrations.

Had a guest lecturer in town and took him here for table of five. Small plates paired with Vermentino were excellent. Main dish was braised pork belly paired with 2016 Nebbiolo which was perfectly tannic but acidic enough to cut through the fat. Music and noise became unbearable for business discussion and asked waiter, Charles, if the music could be turned down a bit and was told that people would just talk louder when the music is lowered. Does this make any sense?

What a wonderful find. Four of us dined at Intero for the first time Friday, August 10th. First of all extraordinary service...the staff really gave you the feeling that they were happy to have you at their restaurant. Food was exquisite. Apps of eggplant and the ricotta bread were nicely done. Three of four entrees were way above average---Risotto, Gnocchi and the Mezzalune. Thanks for a great experience. We will be back.

I'll be honest, we had a rough start here, but things got better fast. We were a large party scheduled as 7 couples. Ten days before I called to make sure they could keep checks by couple and the folks I talked to agreed. Once at the table, the waiter indicated he wasn't willing to keep checks by couple, which is not all that unusual, but contrary to my phone conversation. A quick talk with the manager solved that and they agreed to keep checks by couple. I came into this visit with some reluctance since the reviews here indicate it's a very noisy place. We didn't find noise to be a problem, we were able to communicate easily all down the table. The service and food from there was excellent. We ended up being 11 rather than 14, but they put 11 starters and mains on the table each at the same time, and in a timely orderly fashion. The kitchen should get a well done for that. The service was professional, prompt and not over bearing. The food was nothing short of outstanding. My wife and I had the Crudo as a starter and it was outstanding. We had the family Wagyu Sirloin as a main and the Waygu was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The accompanying salad was a bit bitter, but tasty with greens, egg, tomato and nuts. The Panna Cotta desert was mind boggling good, and I don't usual enjoy sweet stuff. While I can't comment on others food, everyone congratulated the person who selected this as our monthly night out for selecting a really nice restaurant. Obviously, we'll visit again.

Overall, things were OK, and based on the evening, an "average" review feels appropriate. The space is cozy and I can understand why friends have recommended we visit as well. With that said, I would like to go back and try a few other things on the menu, especially one of the pizzas which looked very good. For this evening we tried two smaller plates and two of the main pastas, one desert, and two drinks each. The menu is seasonal and may be different at another point in time. The highlights of the night were the little gem salad, house made burrata, and the brown butter cake for dessert. The salad had simple greens with complex flavors, but felt a bit overpriced ($18) compared to the other items and price points on the menu. The burrata was perfection, however, with its salty and garlicy bagna cauda paired with grilled greens (recommend!), and the brown butter cake was truly a delicious way to end the night; it had almost the taste of breakfast, meant in the best way possible, but with ice cream. The misses for the evening are what prevented this from being a four or five star review. The two main pasta dishes (ricotta gnocchi and malfadine Bolognese) arrived to the table tepid at best, so much so that the grated cheese on the Bolognese never even melted. The gnocchi was the real letdown, however. The menu read "ricotta gnocchi, marinated beet, mushroom, horseradish, caper." These scream flavor-bomb ingredients, but the dish never lived up to that. It was bland, there was no hint of horseradish nor capers, and only tasted like soft dumplings in a perplexingly uninspired, thick sauce, lacking the balance that salt and acid would have provided. Lastly, service was extremally pleasant and friendly, but often inattentive. Once the two small plates were cleared, we really didn't see our server again until the main course was cleared. We would have happily ordered more wine, but the opportunity neither presented itself, nor did we even have the chance to catch the servers attention until the end of the evening. While this was on Christmas Eve, which can typically be hit or miss at any restaurant, there was no unique menu or gimmick that should have detracted from food and service quality, and at the time of dinning the restaurant appeared perhaps a bit more than half full.

Had an 8:30 res, seated at 9:05. People obviously seated prior to us. Food awesome! Brody and Charles the bartender saved our experience, but the manager.... very ineffective!

Wow! These people know their stuff - The food, the service, the wine list - all the way to the homemade chocolate truffle desserts - fantastic! And if you have food allergies they have you covered without sacrificing flavor. A creative and shareable culinary experience that's not to be missed if you're in Austin!

I recommend ordering different appetizers and different dishes and eating them together, a first-class culinary experience. A place that you cannot miss visiting 👏👏👏👏

We had an amazing meal . Best meal in Austin! Our waitress Rachel was amazing, attentive, new the menu and very pleasant.

I always like to try new places for dinner. The appetizers were delicious, the pasta made to order, and the desert was just the right size. No one in my party had a dish they did not enjoy. Definitely I will visit again.

First, the bar is very nice. There is a great cocktail selection, and the wine list is concise, with great selections. The glassware is really cool too. The bar staff is extremely attentive. I recommend this place on the strength of the bar alone. We had a party of four and had a table for dinner. Which we found out that the Chef actually made the tables and chairs with his freaking hands! Dude makes furniture too! Super cool. Three of the four in the party had food allergies to gluten and dairy. The GF menu was appealing and interesting. I ordered an eggplant appetizer, which was outstanding! Big time. I'd go back just for that. However, I ordered a wagyu shoulder. It was not very good, and actually disappointing. My wife ordered a different wagyu dish, and she did not like hers either. My friend ordered the GF pasta, which he said was amazing, but the portion was too small. His girlfriend ordered a shrimp gnocchi, which she said was absolutely amazing. So overall, it was worth going to Intero. It is a fun place. I'd go back for drinks and appetizers, but in my opinion they dropped the ball on the main courses.

Good restaurant with several excellent dishes though with strong sauces. Very warm and friendly feelings inside the restaurant with outstanding service. We had the tuna crudo, the burrata, the redfish ravioli, and the quail risotto. Nice wine list especially with the variety of reds. On Cesar Chavez just adjacent to Ezov.

For our anniversary we were looking for an Italian restaurant that we had not yet visited. We did not realize Itero had been open for only about two months and I would hope that years from now customers will receive the same level of hospitality, service, and fine food that we did. The setting is sleek and somewhat industrial, but warmed by sectioned off areas, cushions, and wooden chairs and tables. We were definitely in the upper age demographic, but the place had singles, families, couples, and friends dining. It felt like a hip and happening place. We were treated to a glass of complimentary sparking wine in honor of our anniversary. We had guidance from McVay, GM/Owner, in the selection of our wine and we were not disappointed. We began with the sourdough bruschetta, which featured charred and smoky spiced cauliflower, kale pesto, and broiled brie. Yummy! The braised pork belly, heirloom beets, grapefuit, and fennel was delicious, although less dressing would have allowed for the very different and distinct flavors to shine through. My husband had the ricotto stuffed gnocchi, which also was fine. For the main course I chose the pasta with braised octupus and my husband selected the grilled lamb loin with turnip risotto, taleggio, and smoked mushroom. The latter was spectacular and probably our favorite dish of our entire meal. Mine suffered from a bit too much sauce, although the sliced octupus was unbelievably tender. We both thought portions were generous and felt we could have shared one farina and grande selection and still been satisfied. We finished our meal with a selection of four truffles delivered by the chocolatier herself. We enjoyed all of them, but hard pressed I would select the roasted hazelnut. Nice little bites to go with our macchiato and coffee. Service was friendly and informative. We will definitely return with family and friends.

We had our usual excellent experience. The welcome, service, food and dining advice were as expected. The team combined to provide an outstanding dining experience.

Service was fantastic Atmosphere fantastic, quiet and we could actually enjoy our conversation among us without yelling or screaming to be heard. Food made from scratch, everything made fresh and the dishes were fantastic and very tasteful with flavors that were ( you be the judge) I think were fantastic. We ordered appetizers (3) different one and all were fantastic. The Chief came to our table (just 5 of us) and brought us a different appetizer (no charge) which nobody ever does) just to say "Thank You for coming in". Prices, let me say was so reasonable and way below what we were expected to pay. For the superb service #1 (in my opinion), superb food #2 (in my opinion), atmosphere #3 (in my opinion, where you can have a conversation with everyone, appetizers #4 (in my opinion) and price #5 (in my opinion). Wine and dessert was included in our dinner. Per person $33.00 Excellent, Fantastic and plan a romantic, family or work party and have a great fantastic superb and inexpensive dinner with a million dollar atmosphere. Thanks you waiters, cooks and owners Wish we had you in Houston Keep up the great things you do and we support you for continuing success Creig Romero and his co-workers

Great happy hour, with a nice selection of appetizers. Strong cocktail and wine list. Attractive setting, even if the minimalist architecture and interior design seem repetitive at this point in Austin. Will return to try it for dinner.

We stopped in for a drink and appetizers. We sat at the bar and Nacole waited on us. She was amazing and made great martinis. We ordered the brussel sprouts and seriously have never tasted brussel sprouts like this before. They were so scrumptious. As we were tabbing out, Krystal stopped by to welcome us and then surprised us by bringing us some of her delicious chocolates to taste. In addition, all their ingredients are from local farms. We highly recommend this restaurant.

We are on a tour of all the restaurants in east Austin and this place is our absolute favorite so far! The service started out a bit slow but it quickly turned around. The bartender quickly came over and took our drink orders while our waiter was getting his bearings. We had wonderful drinks to start and then we were blown away by the food. I can’t put into words just how wonderful everything was!! And those carrots!!?? How do you make carrots taste that good!! How???

Excellent food and service, beautiful atmosphere, well presented, and high quality locally sourced ingredients. Definitely recommend for a romantic night out, or just an upscale meal away from downtown.

It was our first time there. Truly creative pairing of ingredients. It was delicious! The chef is extremely talented! The risotto and gnocchi just melted in my mouth, so full of flavor! We will definitely be back! Highly recommended!

After dipping into a couple of local bars and restaurants in the neighborhood, we ventured into Intero to peruse the menu. Needless to say, the menu was engaging and creative enough that we decided to stay for dinner. We shared plates and started with the whipped cannellini beans, with giardiniera, reggiano crackers, and texas olive oil and the grilled broccoli, roasted mushroom, and turnip topped with farm egg zabaglione. These were paired with a dry rose cava. Both dishes were a visual delight. The zabaglione topped vegetables were scrumptious. The zabaglione was light, tasty and a perfect compliment to the fire roasted vegetables, The whipped cannellini beans and vegetables were also delicious and served as a palate cleanser for the main course to follow. The presentation of both tapas plates was balanced, simple and attractive. The main dish, the gnocchi, lamb polpette, with braised kale, shiitake, and mustard seed was cooked to perfection. The gnocchi was light and perfectly complimented by the shiitake and mustard seed. I'm not sure what the composition of the olive oil was, but it was complex with just the right balance of umami with the mushrooms and mustard seed. Like the appetizers, the presentation was simple and pleasurable to the eye. The wait staff were attentive, friendly, and not at all overbearing. Before leaving, we complimented the chef and left with big smiles on our faces. Not only will I be returning here, I will be sure to bring guests to this fine establishment on a regular basis. This was a wonderful find and East Austin is fortunate to have Intero in the neighborhood.

Intero was as good as we remembered. Starting with the welcome, menu and service; the food was top notch. We will eat back here again.

Intero was picked for a birthday dinner. The location is accessible and they are welcoming. The menu changes and is pretty brief but there are always very good.

First time visit. One of the best meals and service we've had in Austin. Warm friendly staff. Prompt service. Great cocktails. Entrees and small plates were well portioned and served in a casual eclectic environment. Wage carpaccio was laid on a bed of cheese and garnished with lettuce and radishes. The bolognese was superb. Acorn squash and the focaccia bread were equally superb. 5-star all around and reasonably priced.

Absolutely delicious fresh ingredients lovingly prepared by Chef Ian and his talented team. Each small plate was crafted with big flavors. We started with the Brussels and homemade focaccia with fresh ricotta. Shared the gnocchi. Perfection. Shared the risotto with seared duck breast incredible. Lastly we were treated to Krystal’s Choclates. Each one crafted to insure the perfect explosion of flavor. Folks, Krystal is a real chocolatier! Austin is extremely lucky to have this team. Thank you Ian and Krystal!

I ate here last week while I was in town on business. The idea is to order a few small plates for the table and then everyone orders a main dish. Since we had 6 people, we ordered a medley of small plates. The ricotta dumplings was the best dish. The other dishes were good, but not as good as the dumplings; we had carpaccio and a pear and blue cheese salad. We also had the shishito peppers but they were tossed in this creamy dill sauce, and they tasted like Thanksgiving green bean casserole. For our mains, we all ordered pasta. I had the spaghetti cacio e pepe with a truffle cheese. It was good but could have used more of the cheese vs a creamy sauce. The service was good, but our server did not great our table for 10 minutes and I had to ask to have the server come over. The restaurant opened in January of 2018 and the menu changes daily.

Friends invited us to meet them at Intero and we are so glad we went! This is a really fun spot that could get lost a little with all the noise about so many openings in Austin. This group gets it as to what the Austin foodies would want - a nice mix of the classic Italian offerings prepared in a unique style and then also offering so more Texas type offerings for a really nice fun dining evening. The Gnocchi is great and my stuffed quail was terrific. Yes, we ordered all the desserts for our foursome to sample and it was a good call as they were super. A fun spot - but parking is tight so Uber is a good call.

We had a great time at Intero - the brussel sprouts are THE BEST! The service was great, attentive, caring and making sure we had a great time. Thanks! We’ll be back!

Incredible food. Knowledgeable server made the experience great. Had Crudo, bruschetta, cabbage, Zabaglione and Halibut. Lucas was our server and was great!

Intero wants to be known as an Italian restaurant but while there are definite Italian influences, it is hard for me to consider it Italian and doing so creates what I consider unrealistic expectations. On the whole we found the food very good to exceptional. After a complimentary small dish we started with the broccoli and mushrooms with zabaglione and lots of smoke. Very good but Italian? Then pork Bolognese with a cornmeal pasta. Mostly Italian but the red chili flavor profile arguably made it more New Mexican. And as a negative, it was really oily, really oily. It tasted good but certainly not classic Italian. And we had cobia in a butter sauce with a salad and pickles. While a mostly very good dish, this too had no relation to what I have experienced as Italian, even in Italian seaside restaurants. The downside was it smelled fishy in a less than good way but it tasted great. But again, was it Italian? Service was mostly very good. Wine list and prices are fairly good and the complimentary predessert is very good.overall a very good experience and I would go back but I will not think of it as Italian.
Good Food Miserable Noise
At 7:00 pm we were seated in the front room by the bar and the noise was deafening. We couldn’t hear each other talk. People around us were screaming to be heard. One table moved to a back room but I made a round of the other seating areas and all of it was loud except the outdoor seating—unacceptable in a Texas summer. Management suggested we come on another night. No thank you. We won’t be returning. It’s a shame because the menu was great and the food good. Three small plates were excellent—a roasted squash with basil pesto, charred cabbage with hot mustard, and burrata with tomato and cucumber. Two people had a wagyu beef scallopine that looked great even though it was a bit spicy. One had seared duck and risotto and I had a fish trio. The shrimp involtini was wonderful but the redfish was over cooked and tough. We left before dessert because of the crazy loud noise. Service was good. Parking very limited. I wish they would do something to mitigate the noise. The restaurant is all hard surfaces and it is crazy loud. It’s a great menu that changes daily but we won’t be back.
