Mostly this is a local fish market. The selection is quite good, but don't expect low prices. They also have pre-made foods. Some are good, some less so. All are a bit pricey.

This out-of-the way 'local' seafood shop/restaurant is just the place for fresh seafood (literally out of the display case!) and an economical stop while in Philly! Very small, you sit across from the seafood display coolers and you can pick what you wish to have that night. Soft drinks/teas are available, no wine or liquor but who cares! Seafood is made to order, broiled, deep fried, and is delicious. Comes with a side & potato (roasted potatoes were delicious!). Menu is handed to you, or you can look @ the chalkboard wall. While there they had a special of a free 'fishcake' when you ordered $10.00 or more. This was fried and had a very light coating and was about the size of a baseball. Very Very Tasty! TIP: Parking is @ a Premium! You may have to park a block away but the walk is well worth it!

Not a RESTAURANT per so.. had a few tables.. But This still is one of the best as far as buying seafood ..the selection is awesome.. in more recent years its added lunch/dinner dailies cooked there.. you have mostly any kind of fish from various waters..also thee salads, fixings, and for Christmas & feast of seven fishes well all here.. I think thru the years of course prices are higher and items smaller.. I remember the crab cakes use to be huge but it is what it is today..For me the only thing it lacks is more in the way of SOUP on the menu.. I think they occasionally have some kind soup but I would love to run over for daily bowl of crab bisque or chowder.. etc. I am not a huge fish fan but I do love just walking in this place & seeing the assorted items.

expensive but worth it for good fish

They make this shrimp salad with oil and garlic and it's soo good...they also make awesome cooked crabcakes

This place is around for 100 years and most people went there are local people. If you are a visitor and want to eat what local people eat, this is a place to try. The seafood are fresh and tastes good. However, since this is for take out, there is very limited seats inside the restaurant.

First off, this was my first time there and I must say it was a good one. I went down there to get some lobster and end up getting the Tuna Cheesesteak. Excellent selection, that's all I can say. I also had the onion rings with the sandwich and they were great also, they give you this dipping sauce with it that was pretty tasty. It had a lil kick to it but it was good. I bought a shrimp roll to go and they knocked it out of the park on that one also. Big juicy Shrimp on a toasted roll, I don't know what kind of mayo or concoction they use for the sauce but it works and it works well!!! The place is clean and everything looks fresh, they have seating against the wall for maybe 5-6 people, you can get fresh seafood to go and cook at home. The prices are right, what else do you want? And the customer service was A1. The only bad thing is parking because the store is in a neighborhood so if it's busy like lunch time or something, that may be a problem. I didn't have a problem today because I went early and found a spot close by the store. Well I hope my review was helpful, if you go there enjoy!!

I love this place, they got a nice selection of fresh seafood and cooked seafood. The lobster mac and cheese is a must try. Daily special on the menu and so is the catch of the week - which you can get a really good deal for awesome quality fish...and seasonal catch too. The only drawback is the service is slow. Be prepare to wait...but they sometime give u samples while u wait :)

Waited for hours to get my order in. People who knew people got served first. Prices were outrageous. Once I got served I asked the lady about what she would recommend and the lady would know nothing. If that's their customer service I don't understand what the praise is about. You've got to go in with an attitude and with figthing words or they won't serve you. That's not the way to run a business.

Omg, I was so disappointed with the food. The quality of the sea food was great, however once they cook it it's all downhill.

I really wanted to like this place. It has been around for nearly 100 years, and seems to have to more of a local's place. However, my opinion of the place isn't very good after trying it. Price: For $26 I expected a fried combo to be pretty good. Sadly, I was let down. Overall it was not a good value pricewise. Portions: Not really worth of the large price. Food: My big complaint was that everything pretty much, with the exception of the crab cake, tasted the same. From the fries, to the fish, to the shrimp, and even the scallops... it had the same taste. The oil it was fried in wasn't very good, or maybe it was old... however it just didn't taste very good. Both the fish and the shrimp was a bit overcooked as well. The crab cake tasted different, however sadly it was not very good either. It tasted like sour crab. Not spoiled, but like crab that has been marinated in lemon juice for a looooooong time. I couldn't finish it. Overall I was not impressed, and therefore cannot recommend this place to others.

We stopped by this place while waiting for our reservations at another restaurant. What a great experience it was!! The staff was amazing and attentive. I would totally recommend this to anyone!!

The Umami burger, which is a grilled portobella mushroom, grilled onions, cheese, lettuce and tomotoes with a chipolte remoulade was really good.....their fluke flounder is excellent and there are a number of fresh and cooked seafood to choose from.
Crabs and Spagetti like my grandmom made. Salmon bergers too.
I frequently go to Ippolito's for take out. They have a small bench seating area for eat in. The price was just increased the Crabs and Spaghetti to 12.00 from 10.00, but is is still the best bargain in town. It comes with 2 crabs and can feed 4. The Salmon burger is also very good and for a 1.00 more you can get sweet potato fries. The fresh fish selection, beef and prepared salads makes it a one stop for lunch or dinner. While waiting, walk up 13th st. one block in the direction of traffic and get some fresh hot italian bread at Faragalli's. (13th and wharton)
