Invetive and delicious rolls

By Anastasia S |

Had a takeout of Alki roll, West Seattle roll and veggie yaki-soba. All of them were bursting with flavor and delicious. Cannot even say, which one did I like the most. I think it's my new favorite sushi-place.

Nondescript location but good and generous size rolls!

We’ve lived in west Seattle for a couple years now but barely knew this place was there! We’re glad we do now though because the sushi was really great and we were served very healthy portion sizes. My wife and I split three specialty rolls and we were adequately full. In fact, we had 3-4 rolls leftover to take home. The spot is small but seems authentic. Definitely worth a stop!

I love this place

I often bring people here because the food is good and not too expensive. I love their desserts and appetizers, although of course the sushi is wonderful as well. It's kind of small but it's comfortable.

A nice surprise! Fresh and delicious japanese food at a reasonable price.

Irashai is a small operation with top quality Japanese food, quite and extensive menu. Check it out online. Service was great. They had a nice crisp Pinot Grigio for $6.00 a glass. We also had takoyaki potatoes with a sauce and shaved bonito. We had Volcano roll with avocado, shrimp and crab and a beautiful bowl of seafood udon. We will definitely go back for more, maybe a special trip for the tempura ice cream. The food was beautifully plated! Service was quick and friendly.

Wonderful sushi

My two daughters and I visited here recently and had a great sushi dinner. The stafff was very helpful and friendly and the sushi dishes were very delicious and artfully prepared. We will definitely come back again to eat here.

The Best Sushi

By John L |

Why give 5 stars to a sushi place? Because it's the best sushi we've ever eaten. Don't let Irashai's modest exterior/interior fool you -- the food is the star. A bit pricey but worth it. Even "boring" choices like California rolls are sensational. The crab rolls are the best.

Great Sushi

By Barbara W |

We were visiting from out of town and craving sushi; a search in West Seattle brought up Irashai. The restaurant is smallish and not fancy, and at first I was a bit put out at the prices of the rolls. After receiving the food, the presentation and the taste was worth every penny. The vegetable tempura was crisp and fresh, and the portion was even more than the menu indicated. The rolls were the best I have ever had. Again, the portion was generous (we only ordered two, and couldn't finish those), and the salmon and tuna were very fresh, tender, and tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive and service was great as well. I would definitely go again and highly recommend it.

You pay for their mistakes

I enjoy sushi w gluten-free soy sauce. I asked if they had GF sauce and they said yes Yay! I asked if their seared salmon roll had any kind of soy sauce based topping or fried wheat topping and the server said No. However, the roll came drizzled w unagi sauce. I explained that unagi sauce is based on soy sauce (which contains wheat), so I couldn’t eat it. I ordered sashimi instead and she removed the salmon maki. Very fresh sashimi, nice presentation. The server came back much later w the same salmon roll, saying maybe the others at the table could eat it. My friends were full, though. Imagine my surprise when I saw we’d been billed for the salmon roll. My friends didn’t want me to “make a fuss” so I had the pleasure of paying for food no one could eat. Mistakes get made w GF foods. I get that. But don’t ask me to pay for those mistakes because the server’s English is poor and/or doesn’t know much about Japanese food. And, no one said Irasshai when we entered the restaurant, lol. Will not return.

Good sushi, but really pricey

Great new sushi place in West Seattle! The sushi was really good, but expect to pay top dollar for it. The service was great, the octopus and mackerel were awesome. It's probably one of the better sushi places in West Seattle, but again, prepare to shell out some bucks for it.

Give it a try

Opened a month in a small, difficult to make attractive space, but they've tried. Run by a Japanese family in a traditional style - greeting at the door and departure, bowing... Attentive service. Extensive menu. Large portions, tasty food. They should be supported.

New North Admiral Favorite

By Steve D |

Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff, terrific menu range. Fast and efficient, spotlessly clean, very tasty. What's not to like here? Irashai is a great addition to the 'hood. I can't remember ever being greeted so warmly when entering or thanked like this when leaving a restaurant. Check them out!!

Neighborhood Gem in West Seattle

By mrsdagle |

This has proven to be a great spot in the Admiral District. The staff is very gracious and welcoming, occasionally treating with appetizers. My favorite dish is the sashimi bowl, which is very large and has so much variety to it. The veggie yakisoba is also very good. The prices are reasonable. There is a lot of take out service here and a lot of families, dates, so there is something for everyone. To avoid the crowds, go during the week.

local place - great service

New susshi place in West Seattle (admiral Junction). Not much for ambiance, and has no sitting bar, a rarity for sushi. I saw a brisk takeout business. Free Miso when you sit down, which is a nice touch. Portions are very generous. Thick cuts. roll prices are average. Some rolls went way up to $20, which seemed out of place at this venue. But portions and great service make it a good value. I will return.
