Hidden Gem!

By Justin F |

We discovered this restaurant on Yelp, and boy were we glad we did. It's fairly non-descript from the outside, and frankly from the inside as well. It's a modest, what you might call hole-in-the-wall, which are the best places of course to discover as you feel like you're now in on the secret. The food is just outstanding - great flavors, huge portions, and at an extremely reasonable price. This has to be one of the best values around. Great for families - bring a big appetite. You'll want to go back again and again....

Ono!

By Stevie A |

Lots of menu choices and everything was prepared fresh when we ordered. (We got take out). Good sized portions and ono flavor. Excellent!

Great food, terrific, friendly service and huge value

By gyw |

Wonderful place to take family missing the island tastes. Portion sizes are so large, it easily will feed two people! Service prompt, place is very clean. But the the best is the food. Only downside is that this location is very far, south side of Las Vegas.

Their name should be Island Mana

Heard about this place through a friend. It was awesome. The food was great and the portions were huge. I had the combo with furikaki chicken which was really good. I'm coming back next time I'm here.

Ono Food!!!

By wanderingel |

Visiting Las Vegas from the East Coast, this was a perfect time to find some Hawaiian food. Island Flavor was close to where we exited from our Red Rock Canyon drive, so we decided to drop in for lunch. Enjoyed the kalua pig and mac salad, but we also found out that the next day (Friday) they would have lau lau, poi, lomi salmon and haupia.(coconut pudding). So back we went. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Call it real Hawaiian hospitality.

Best local food for Hawaii transplants

By I3356IGsharonk |

Friday is Lau Lau day at Island Flavors!! Best I've had even in Hawaii. The serving is plenty for 2 meals. You also get, lomi lomi salmon and haupia, lau lau is wrapped in taro leaves which also includes butter fish and pork. Even though there is a lot of rice usually buy a bag of poi.

Island GIrl with an Island Appetite for Island Flavor!

By Kaiolu Morgan |

This is one of my favorite places to grab some local Hawaiian grinds. It's always good for the price and the social experience. The tables and chairs are spaced moderately from each other so while your party is still granted some form of privacy it's still close enough to catch parts of the conversation going next to you. Normally I don't like to eavesdrop but here you can't help it. You hear stories about places back in the islands, memories growing up, uh-oh's from the party last night, grandma's funny joke, the usual gossip, and loud bursts of laughter just to name a few. Bottom line is, everyone is enjoying themselves and that's the atmosphere you would expect here. The menu has a good selection and if that's not enough, throw in a page of the day's specials and homemade desserts. The only bad part about this experience is trying to figure out what you want to order. Make sure you come with an appetite because the portions are huge! More power to you if you can throw it all back but I usually leave with enough leftovers to last for the rest of the day. Only downside was that it took a while before the food came but it was no one's fault. The place was busy and I was starving. Still five stars!

Just like home

A friend recommended this place for dinner and being from Hawaii we had to try it. The place is not that large, and when we arrived there was live Hawaiian music playing (Sat nights only they say) and there was a large party that just got seated. Needless to say we didn't want to wait 30 minutes for a seat. We opted for takeout and there are benches outside to wait. They also have a small store next door with "all things local" for you to stock up, ie seed, punaluu sweet bread, local slippers, shoyu, portugese sausage, kalua pig, zippys chili, etc. We ordered the saimin, furikake chicken, teri chicken, beef teriyaki steak and some spam musubi to go. The plates come with 2 scoop rice, mac salad or green salad. The portions are large, so be sure to share if you don't eat big. We took it back to the hotel and and had a hawaiian feast at poolside. We had so much leftover that we had it again for lunch the next day. Will be back on our next visit to try other dishes and maybe this time we can get a seat inside.

Kanak Attack!!

By MKA7488 |

Wow! A friend of mind recommended we try this spot while we were here in Vegas, and man we still eating left overs from yesterday. We both ordered a mix plate, Furikake Chicken and Korean BBQ, and Teriyaki chicken and Katsu chicken. There was so much food, we could barely eat half, but it was soooo goood!! We had to go to a show afterwards, and my fiancee fell asleep during some parts of it haha. This will definitely be one of the places we will visit every time we come out to Vegas.

Never got to try the food because of the rude entrance

By Paul B |

I drove more than five miles south from my hotel to try the only restaurant on my list of ones to try in Vegas. Upon entering, I stood at the door waiting to be seated. To the left, chairs were being placed upside down on tables, so this was not a good sign, It was at about 430 pm on a Sunday. The hostess finally approached me and told me that the kitchen may be closed. I told her that I drove a long way to get here, but that did no good. She went into the back and came out a few minutes later to tell me that they were indeed closed. She may have done me a favor because I did not see too many happy diners finishing their meal. I will never give this place another chance.

Not what we expected

By Angela F |

We drove in from NorCal and my cousin highly recommended this place to meet for dinner. We were running late, but she made reservations on a Friday evening. Since we were running late, we looked at the menu online and had her order for us. We ordered loco moco, chicken katsu, oxtail soup and poke. My son loves loco moco, but this one he barely touched because it tasted funny. My husband cooks local food all the time and tasted it. The gravy tasted powdery and a majority of the bowl was full of rice. No flavor. Our daughter had chicken katsu and it was ok, but she didn't like how the sauce tasted. Poke was ok/average. I had the oxtail soup and while there were big pieces, there was lots of fat on them too and the broth was salty. After the long drive from Cali, my husband wanted a beer but they don't serve beer. Their was live music and I was hoping to sit and hang out to enjoy it, but we were pushed out because the place was too small to accommodate the very busy night. We were hoping to feel like we were back home in Hawai'i but maybe this was an off night, or maybe we're just too picky when it comes to our local food

Tryin' Hawaiian

Great Filipino 'con'-fusion food. But if you are looking for Hawaiian food, it's best to keep looking

Great Hawaiian Food!

By HoustonWahine |

Came here for an early lunch on a Friday, which we knew would be a busy day. Arrived at about 11:10 and was seated right away, but within a few minutes there was a line at the door. Initially, from what we could see, there were a lot of takeout orders so we knew this was a good sign. Not a real big place, maybe around 15 tables, but the staff was friendly and it looked clean. Menu had the usual Hawaiian style "plate lunch" choices and we felt right at home since we are from Hawaii. My husband had the Kalua pork and cabbage while I had the teri beef plate. Both plates come with the Hawaii traditional two scoops of rice and one scoop of mac (macaroni) salad. Once we placed our orders, turnaround time was quick. Food was tasty and portions were generous. Kalua pork was moist, not dry but the teriyaki beef was tender but a little saltier than I like. We ordered Chantilly cake for dessert. Chantilly cake is a long time tradition from Hawaii. It's a chocolate cake with a special icing that contains eggs, sugar, butter, milk, and cornstarch. The cake was a little dry, but the icing was perfect and exactly as I remembered it! Service was great! Our server checked back with us several times to see if we needed anything. In talking with her, the owners are related to a restaurant we like to frequent, Big Island Grill, whenever we're in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island. By the time we left, the line was outside the door, waiting for a table. Overall, it was good and we'll be back for a another visit next time we're in town!

Great place for Hawaiian local foid

By VirginiaR0se |

I always have to come here for a meal when I'm in Vegas. I ordered the mix plate (hamburger steak with gravy and furikake chicken) which was so delicious!!! Portions are huge so I have more than enough to take home for another meal. Service was very friendly. I Friday nights they have live entertainment. Off the strip gem.

Best Hawaiian in the area

By 507kennetht |

This Hawaiian restaurant is the best in the area near Rhodes Ranch Golf Course in the South West part of Las Vegas. Good food, great service, huge portion and reasonable price, 👍

Good Hawaiian Food

By HardBop |

The food here is pretty good with some unusual spins like their furikake chicken (teriyaki flavor dipped in furikake seasoning). If you like Hawaiian food, you'll like this place, especially on Fri-Sat when they have really good live Hawaiian music. Very generous portions and very friendly service.

ONO! ONO! ONO!

By A Lesser-Known Path |

Forget any other Hawaiian place in the Vegas area, friends, because Island Flavor IS IT! The vast majority of my in-laws live on the island of Oahu, and I have spent much time in Hawaii. Even though I live on the mainland, I love Hawaiian food so much that I have even ordered it and had it shipped back to me there (not even close to as good as fresh, of course). So, suffice it to say, I am a true lover of true Hawaiian food, and Island Flavor is da real deal! My sister and I – since it was going to be a long time until I was able to again have authentic grindz – ordered some of many things :-D. Kalbi, kalua pork, lau lau, mac salad, lomi, chicken katsu, rice of course, and ALL of it was ONO :-)! Great food! And the desserts (and I am not really a "dessert" fan) are crazy good! The service is great, and very attentive. As I said before, I am a haole (that's just basically a Hawaiian term that refers to a "non-Hawaiian," if you will), but when my server saw - unbeknownst to me – how much I was enjoying the food, she walked over to our table and asked me, "Do you have family in the islands? I am just asking because you are enjoying this like you really know Hawaiian food." Wow, that's above and beyond, and "above and beyond" is exactly the kind of experience you will have when you next visit Island Flavor. Go there. Now. Seriously. Get in your car and go. :-)

Excellent Hawaiian food in SW Las Vegas

By GRay_Dallas |

My favorite place to eat when I visit relatives in Las Vegas who live southwest of the Strip. So much so that we went straight to the restaurant after they picked me up at the airport :) The restaurant is in a strip mall on South Durango, halfway between 215 and Blue Diamond. A clean simple interior, pleasant staff, and outstanding ahi poke (the sesame is my favorite.) I also really like the Korean kalbi short beef ribs. My relatives also recommend the hamburger steak and kalua pig.

Must try the poke!

By Mary-mary P |

Poke, sausage fried rice topped with egg, & Korean BBQ ribs were excellent! You have to take a fairly costly taxi ride to the restaurant, but the food is worth the cab fare!

Slow; but SO good

By travelcal033 |

The best (and only) poke place I've seen outside of Hawaii (granted, I live in MissourI). I was a little skeptical at first and the wait for our food at noon was loooooong (which is my reason for the 4 stars, not 5), but we loved everything about our meal. We got an order of poke, one order of fried poke, and a order of the Kahlua pork. All of it was incredible. I'd tell you what flavors of each we got, but we let the cashier pick whatever she recommended, so I can't remember). Poke was fresh, tasty, and plentiful in each of our half orders and the kahlua pork looked unseasoned, but the taste was perfection. They need to expand asap, but definitely worth your time (even like us, driving from the strip).

Generous portions, ono grinds

By sharkisland |

This restaurant serves authentic local style Hawaiian food. On a Friday night, they offer a Hawaiian Plate special- lau lau, lomi salmon, macaroni salad and rice. A transplanted friend , now living in NYC needed her Hawaiian food fix-- this was just the place. The pork in the lau lau was very generous and cooked just right. The portions at this place are huge!! Everyone has to take home leftovers. On Friday nights, a trio plays Hawaiian favorites from 6;30-8:30 P.M. They must play elsewhere- they sounded so professional. All that was needed was Aunty Rose to do the hula. The desserts were equally generous- we shared the guava cake. The prices are reasonable considering the amount of food you get, IF you are hankering for local food in Vegas, this is the place!!

Not nearly as good as it used to be

By Pat Y |

We have been going here for years and even had our family reunion there a few years ago. But now the food is terrible, not recongizable as authentic Hawaiian food. The Kalua pig was in chunks, not shreaded and it was SWEET, no salt. That's not Hawaiian. Few pieces of thick cut cabbage on the bottom of the plate. The other meal was Furikake chicken and Teri beef, also not good. Only a couple chunks of beef (notice the trend of "chunks"). The side of fried rice was not flavorful as it used to be. There were white patches where there was no seasoning. After all these years, it was VERY disappointing. The great reviews on this page were from last year and earlier, not the present. Don't go.

Great Deal, Delectable Hawaiian Food

By Kevin C |

We live in the Southwest Las Vegas Valley and our son turned us on to Island Flavor. What a pleasant surprise this restaurant was, and so close to our home. Nestled in a nondescript strip mall, as so many good restaurants are in Las Vegas, Island Flavor has great Hawaiian food at very reasonable prices and a welcoming, homey atmosphere. We'll definitely return to this local gem.

Nice restaurant in a small strip mall

By Paul T |

We were coming back from Red Rock Canyon and looked on Trip Advisor for a restaurant nearby and found Island Flavors. Neither of us had Hawaiian food before so we said let's try it. The restaurant is small but the staff are friendly. My wife ordered the grilled Mahi Mahi with cabbage. The Mahi Mahi was grilled perfectly was a nice flavor. Not sure if the cabbage had a dressing or the juices from the fish flavored it. My Hawaiian style roast pork looked like the slices of pork were on top of some type of stuffing because it was piled so high. But to my surprise it was all pork! With two scoops of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad there was enough for two or three people. The pork was tender and tasty and the brown gravy added to the dish. You get a lot of food for a reasonable price.

Very Good

By Jodi R |

I really enjoyed my dinner and the portions are huge! The fried rice is amazing. The pork wonton appetizer is really good. I will return!

Gluttony at its best!

By babyaki |

Family-style, vaery casual restaurant. Just like Hawaii. A little out of the way, but worth the drive if you are missing ono Hawaiian-kind grinds. Portions are not only large, but far TOO large, even for a Hawaiian-appetite. No kidding. 1 order can feed 2, maybe 3 normal people. You'll get 3x the rice, or fried rice, that you'd get at a regular restaurant. Roast pork loco moco came in a big saimin bowl with about 4 cups rice, chunks of tasty roast pork, fried egg, and so ono gravy all over. Almost felt like puking after eating most of it. But the next morning, wished I had taken the leftovers for breakfast! Next time we'll know to order meals to split. Staff serves with aloha.

Island Flavor is so ono!

By Dennis I |

The is our go to place when we are in Vegas! The roast pork and furukaki chicken is a winna! Kahele is so filled with Aloha and always makes everyone feel "at home"!

Tastes of the Hawaiin Islands

By Michael W |

We went to this restaurant once only for brunch. There is quite a good variety of flavoursome food. The service here was quite good but nothing and the food is quite reasonably priced. The staff are very helpful and friendly.

Lil island goodness in the Desert!

By Michelle N Mich... L |

Took the kiddos to grab some grub! Nice variety of food with daily specials. Menu is not overwhelming. Huge portions..good for leftovers or sharing. Live music the day we were there. Staff could have been a little more inviting and personable. Otherwise a good place to eat.

Really Great

By Jwvv |

All six meals were excellent. The ribs, poke and even the fried rice were outstanding. We will be back.

Very local style of service which includes great food, accomodating service, and ability to make one comfortable.

By Doris1948 |

Always great to have meals at Island Flavor! Dishes are always flavorful and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Da Real Deal, Not Hawaiian Food Fakers like L&L...

By 808son |

After a underwhelming grand opening at Café De Cebu featuring braddah Hauoli, Sam, Willie and others a couple weeks ago, my braddah from Waialua, Oahu and I decided to check out this place for the Hawaiian style grinds AND what was a very pleasant treat to the Haleamaus smooth Hawaiian music (e.g. Kealana). My friend went with the kalbi ribs and me, the Hawaiian special (laulau, lomi salmon, haupia, rice, mac salad). I live in Henderson and frequent the Island Flavor Express off Pebble and Eastern across Lemongrass (killa kine pho here). As I promised, my pal agreed that their kalbi was off the chain AND generous portions. The laulau (fresh made every Thurs) was so fresh, you could see the veins on the luau leaf; the color and texture wasn't that canned spinach look/consistency. IMO, absolutely the best laulau on the Ninth Island hands down. Lomi salmon perfecto mundo; haupia, perfect for the palate after our meal. And no meal at Island Flavor is complete wout their classic poke (poh'-kay; poh-key is CAT in Hawaiian!) - so fresh, perfect seasoning, especially when you burp da limu! My braddah couldn't finish all his kalbi so I had takeout with my leftovers, too. He decided on green tea ice cream for dessert and it came out in an old style fountain glass; must've been 3-4 lg scoops and when we asked the waitress how come so much, she said, "everything is BIG here" and we wholeheartedly agree. Service is spot on, food quality is 11/10, prices are very reasonable for the large portions and that old time Hawaiian slack key hits da spot! Only thing is I live Henderson and it was like driving to Utah but yes, MauiBoy will be back for Fridays with the Haleamaus!

Try it out!

By KateQ1017 |

I've never had Hawaiian food, but I'm told Island Flavor is authentic. It was delicious! It's a tiny place in a storefront, with live music on the Saturday night that we went, so it was hard to have a conversation. And, they don't serve alcohol, but that is the end of my complaints. It is not a light cuisine, and the combinations may seem a little strange. Try the furikake chicken and shrimp, the pork was good, too. And macaroni salad goes well with the entrees - not what I would have expected. Huge portions. I'm thinking we will be eating off this for 3 days, which is fine with us. The desserts! Incredible! Giant pieces of cake and pie for $5, $5.50. Definitely worth a try.

Taste of Hawaii on the mainland

By kausticcowboy |

Looking for a taste Of Hawaii without having to travel to Hawaii? Then this is the place! Kalua pig and cabbage, ribs, tuna its there. Our last visit yielded more surprises and great flavors! Friday's finds the band taking you across the waters to Hawaii. Portions are big and the Deserts are over the top! Need a party idea, then this is the place. We've been to numerous parties and they have had Island flavor cater..the taste And flavors are there as well. You can see the pride in ownership as well as those that work there. Don't miss out.

good hawaian food

By jgoo1112 |

My wife and I visited this place based on reviews on yelp and was not disappointed. We had the combo beef and chicken. All orders are prepared individually so the food is hot. Took back to the hotel to eat and impress with the overall meal. The cashier was polite and explained all the menu items.

Exceptionally disappointing

By kencatron |

We chose this restaurant based upon the reviews on TripAdvisor. Maybe we caught it on a bad night but it was NOTHING like the reviewers wrote. We ordered the two item combo and had a shrimp dish and a chicken dish. The shrimp was fried beyond recognition - more like saddle leather - and the panko crusted chicken was rock hard. The sauces tasted quite nice and there was plenty of rice. The couple we went with had the ribs and ate less than half of them because there was so much fat on them. The waitstaff was very pleasant but not overly attentive once the restaurant got busy. They left the check on the table but neglected to tell us that we were to pay at the counter so we waited a good 15 minutes before someone returned to take the credit card. They don't have a liquor license which is too bad - alcohol probably would have made the food taste better. It's just one large room and the noise got overwhelming and distracting. The prices were actually quite good, but unfortunately the food didn't even meet the good price standard. Overall, an extremely disappointing experience.

Great suggestion

By Andre H |

We were given two restaurant suggestions for good ono grindz and we wish we would have tried this place first because it was by far the best of the two and i would have gone back several times during our stay. We had two different kinds of poke and a mix plate of teri chicken and roasted pork. It was all amazing. Tried the sesame poke becuase that is how i make it at home and then also the avo poke to add a little spice but it was not overly spicy and the wonton crunch on the bottom was something that i'm going to try adding to mine. The mix plate was a TON of food and was so good. I will definitely be making this a stop in all my future vegas trips

Customer Service Could've Been Better....But Food Was good!

By BugattiBoi88 |

I came in here on the spur of the moment for some take out and I have to say the customer service was okay.. not great but not bad. I explained I never been before and to make some recommendations and the guy working the front was good but who ever else was working with him wasn't Now they lost a few stars for a few reasons with me because what could've been a 4-5 star review turned to 3. Now you may ask what happen to get the rating right? Well the service and the fact that they basically told me in so many words that the spam masubi that they sold if it wasn't in that little oven in the front then that means there are no more? What kind of place does that though? And an hour before you are closing? I could see if I walked in 10 minutes before you are closing but is that spam masubi that hard to make that you couldn't request one or two more to be made? Yikes! Not good service in my eyes especially when somebody is trying it out for the first time. It's simple things like that, that would steer me away from ever coming back. My dish I ordered was like a two item combo and I selected the chicken katsu and the Furakaki chicken with double mac salad instead of the rice. No complaints on that! No whether I'll be back or not is in the air but for now...

Expected more

By theheatonfamily |

Sadly, I was a little disappointed with my meal at the Island Flavor. Great staff, portions are large, relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. My chicken was overcooked and steamed vegetables were not steamed. They were greasy and grilled. Loved the purple potatoes on the green salad. Appreciated that they offered mini portions. Mixed review for me.

got to place when in doubt...

By 76bruno |

Never had a bad meal the roast pork loco moco is my go to meal always the same delicious meal like the first time I tasted it... Raw ahi poki salad is also a good meal.... the place feels homey and the staff friendly... love this place!

Family Dinner

By 1Jeeplover |

I was really looking forward to this restaurant. I had seen so many reviews on this place. Unfortunately, it was not what I was expecting. First of all, of your theme is Hawaiian you would think they would have the decor to match. They didn't have any. I think I saw a picture of a sunset. But I did not want that to be a reason not to like the restaurant. We ordered a few of our Hawaiian favorites. The loco moco, short ribs with macaroni salad and now I can't remember the third item. My apologies. The short ribs were just okay, and the patty of the loco moco was very dry. I remember the waiter who was friendly, asked us if we would be interested in dessert. I said, "Yes" and requested the haupia and was told they had run out. I was hoping the dessert would make up for the dinner but it didn't work out. Can't say I would recommend this restaurant.

Hawaiian food done right

By We_Travel_A_Lot_2011 |

Researched online for some good Hawaiian food and found this little gem within 2 miles from our home. Who knew it was so close and had such great food. This place was poppin, even at 8pm. About 10 people outside and two couples in front of us. We waited for about 15 minutes for a table and was pleasantly surprised to see live music being played inside. They have live music on Friday and Saturday evenings between 6-8:30pm. We checked out the menu and ordered the furikake chicken 5/5 with fried rice and veggies and the chicken Katsu loco moco 4/5. The servings were extra large which meant plenty to take home for leftovers. Overall delicious Hawaiian style food. I wanted to try the spam musubi but they were sold out. Will have to give it a try on my next visit. The desserts also looked very delicious but we were so full we didn't save room. The service was great and very nice 5/5.

A Taste of Something Different!

By GraceIshak |

I loved trying this restaurant. Its not l&l hawaiian bbq but still very good. They have bigger portions here but I wish customer service was on point and not judgmental. Me and my hubby dined in here, we also had my daughter (who is half asian) and the whole staff just seemed to stare, and stare and stare some more. I felt very uncomfortable, but this seems to happen to us a lot.. Anyway my daughter loves eating here and her favorite is chicken katsu. The dining area is very small but I do recommend trying this place out if your looking to grub on something different.

Home Cooking Island Style

By chajushu |

Delicious, home cooked food is the best way I can describe this find. First, this 4 year old restaurant is owned by a very nice couple, Bruce and Maile, and their family from the big island of Hawaii. They brought their aloha, and their food, here to LV to share with others. The servers treat patrons like family. The menu includes such local Hawaiian island favorites like beef stew, kalua pork cabbage, and Portuguese sausage fried rice omelette. It is a family friendly restaurant and Hawaiian entertainment is provided several nights a week. They are now open 7 days a week with shorter hours on Sundays, mainly for lunch. Costs average about $9.00 a plate with large portions. You could take home and have another meal. The restaurant is conveniently located in the neighborhood where I live here in southwest Las Vegas. They do not have a big sign. Mainly, you find the place and spread the good word. Come eat here and enjoy!

GREAT HAWAIIAN TYPE FOOD!

By atomicgerry |

This is a go to place for us and our friends every time we come to Las Vegas! Everything on the menu comes in good size portions and every dish does not disappoint. The combo plates are great with many different choices. I especially love the Lau Lau, Chicken and Kahlua Pork as well as the friend rice. You can't go wrong here as they have lines on the weekends...

excellent!

Had a very nice meal at Island Flavor. A bit far from central Vegas, but worth the drive. Casual restaurant in a strip mall. Delicious!

ONO

By Kali1944 |

Island Flavor will go against any place in the Islands. We have not had a bad meal there yet. I'm a loco moco freak and wow do they give you the biggest and the best. I like the pork one the best. My wife LOVES the sesame poke, she makes atleast two meals out of it. I'm a Haole and the wife a Hapa and everytime we come in we a greeted as if we were Ohana. Service can't be beat and the help friendly. You will not find a better Hawaiian restaurant anywhere in town. Mahalo. Oh yeah, don't forget the Huge desserts.

Best Hawaiian In the Upper 48

By Kari B |

I had lots of island food traveling Hawaii and the Mariana Islands, and this by far is the closest to being as good as on the Big Island. The food was impeccable, the fried rice delicious, and the service fantastic. Thanks so much for a great meal!!

First time is a charm!!

By Wade K |

I wanted to try this place for a while cause I used to drive past it all the time for work. My friend said he frequents the express in Henderson but never been to the restaurant. I was not disappointed! We got there early cause they said they get pretty crowded cause they have live music. I ordered the Kali and it was awesome! I'm usually a pretty big eater but I couldn't finish it (I only had 1 piece left. Lol!) I like green tea ice cream so I ordered it for desert. I thought it was going to be one scoop like most restaurants but it came in a glass with must have been 4 scoops! Was sooo ono! Everything was perfect. My friend had the lau lau and it looked so good and fresh. Gotta try it next time. The music was a perfect compliment to a perfect dinner. I played Hawaiian music for many years and they were very good. I just noticed my friend left a review too. 808son

Mahalo for the taste memories!!!

By Sherri B |

Five stars just for the friendly staff. You feel Ohana when you open the door. Authentic Hawaiian food from the POG to the 2 scoop white rice and one mac salad. Had the Kaulua and Cabbage, so yum. The poke with sesame was superb!!! Husband had the Kaulua BBQ sandwich on Hawaiian roll. The portions were enormous and we had to bring some home. Am looking forward to trying the desserts next time. Brought home a Spam Musubi for Breakfast. Mahalo for the taste memories!!!! ONO!

Great food!

By B T |

We stopped in for lunch before our flight home. We ordered the platter with kalbi ribs and roast pork, and chicken katsu with pork belly. We each got a good sized portion plus a side of Mac and cheese. We ended up taking half of each to go. We will definitely be returning next time we are in Las Vegas.

Aloha spirit outside of the California Hotel

By heuster3 |

What a great find! So glad it's off the beaten path from the strip. It looks dark from the outside and judging from the Vegas sun, that's understandable. Once in, it is warm and inviting on this cold Vegas evening. When we ordered, I was thinking along the lines of some of the Hawaiian places in San Diego. The portions here are big! The partner started with the Portugese bean soup...flavorful and hearty! He thought the salad was coming on his teriyaki beef plate, but a large side salad appeared as well. My mom and I ordered the roast pork....a mound of pork covered in gravy with two scoops of rice and a scoop of mac salad. I was in Hawaiian food heaven! I also ordered the special fried noodles, and a large plate came out with char siu pork....very good! My dad had the oxtail soup and really enjoyed it! No wonder this place gets crowded because lots of locals were coming in. I saw two desserts go out, and we ordered the banana bread pudding to go. This came with a delicious vanilla sauce! It's good to know there's another alternative to come to instead of eating at the California Hotel...LOL! The staff was really friendly and our server told us that they've been open for seven years now. I can't believe we didn't find this place sooner! This place is legit!

Inconsistent, and low quality food.

Ordered the Kalbi Short Ribs and the Teriyaki Chicken. The beef was bland but the chicken was so over salted and drowned in teriyaki sauce, I couldn't eat more than 2 or 3 bites. I also opted for the brown rice and it was so overcooked and mushy almost like mashed potatoes. I'm not sure what all the hype is about this place. Definitely not a place I would recommend since the quality is so low. Perhaps I ordered the wrong dishes, but how do you mess up grilled chicken, short ribs and rice? Big FAIL!

Ono grinds!

Decided to look for a Hawaiian plate lunch place, since so many folks from the islands visit and live here. It was authentic, including the pidgin, and was outstanding!

Just like Hawaii

By backroadexplorer |

On my last trip to Hawaii I searched for the best Teri-beef plate lunch at many restaurants. The winner was the Big Island Grill in Kona. Eureka, I found their sister restaurant and the originator of the Big Island Grill (now run by son and daughter) at the Island Flavor restaurant in Las Vegas. Just like being in Hawaii, the food, the music, the customers, the servers, and the portions. Delicious.

Wonderful place to go

My friends always wanted to try and experience “Hawaiian” food. Never have they encountered such friendly service and food that they can’t get their minds off! Although they are busy, the restaurant managed to make everyone satisfied! Aloha, Tiare, and Leilani are there to make sure you are fed and satisfied with your meal! Their “furikaki chicken” is their best seller. The portions are huge as well! They offer desserts that are just next door from them, that offers Hawaiian pastries and cakes! I recommend the guava cake and chantilly Cocoa Puffs! TO DIE FOR!! I recommend this to everyone!

HUGE portions and GREAT food

Go here if you want delicious food. I ordered the short ribs and furikake chicken and it was the best. The prices are very affordable. The service was great. We were a group of 18 in town for a softball tournament and the staff was very welcoming. They had no issue with creating individual checks. If you like cake, YOU MUST ORDER the haupia cake. It's a very lite, fresh cake with hint of coconut. This place beats the crowds and the cost of any place on the Strip.

Pleasant surprise

The wait staff was super friendly and the food was very good. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but don’t let that stop you. I had the Thursday night special Shoyu chicken and it was delicious. My boyfriend had the teriyaki steak and he enjoyed it very much also. I had not tried Hawaiian cuisine before and I am happy I did - I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a casual, yummy meal.

Huge portion and delicious food

Island Flavor is just a little restaurant tucked away in the SW part of Las Vegas. The food is great and the service is excellent. The pork entrees are fabulous and we recently tried the teriaki beef dish. It was fantastic. Check it out.....you cannot go wrong at Island Flavor.

Ono & Tender Meat Jun!!

By 9th Islander Eats |

I either eat here for lunch or dinner and it never disappoints. Dined in for lunch on 10/31/2023 and had the Meat Jun. It was excellent! The meat was tender and the egg was slightly crispy in some spots, just the way I like it.

Yum

Food was excellent. Service was a bit slow but it didn’t matter! Best Hawaiian food I’ve had since moving away from Hawaii!!

I wish I could rate this place higher than a 5

This place is so ridiculously good you can't even put it to words. We ordered Hawaiian poke, kimchi cucumber, chicken teriyaki salad, spare ribs and the pulled pork. Everything was so good we forgot to take pictures and by the time we remembered to it was to late. We did get a pic of the poke though. Also it's very fairly priced. Everyone was so nice and they were very understanding that we brought food for my son because of food allergies. We will be back I promise you that.

Food heaven

This place never disappoints! The lines are long for a reason, it is so worth the wait. Hands down the best mac salad I have ever had. The portions are huge so I recommend wearing comfortable clothes!
