It was alright, but not worth the price. Had the tuna- mediocre. Onion rings were good. No one complained about their meals, but no one seemed to think they were amazing. Service was fantastic, as was the view. However, they’ve now closed off 2/3 of the parking lot self park, so during a normal dinner hour you’re pretty much forced to do paid valet. Not worth it, especially for the price.

We had lunch at this restaurant on a Tuesday and waited about 30 minutes for a table for 5. It was well worth the wait. The food was delicious. I had the Lobster Bisque and the bowl was huge. It was delicious. My husband and cousin had the Lobster and Fontina BLT and both said it was very, very good. Another family member had the fish and chips and also said it was very good. We were inside but still had a gorgeous view of the harbor and all of the activity that was occurring. My husband and I both had ice tea and it too was quite good. It is a little on the pricey side but well worth it.

Great service and wonderful food. We had the poke stack and split the filet trio. It was fabulous. The popovers were delicious too. Great view on top of it all!

We made it to many of the most scenic restaurants in San Diego but this one was by far the best. The view of the city was spectacular. The ambience within the restaurant was a lovely balance casual elegance. The food was top drawer and reasonably priced. Our server, Seth, was attentive and helpful. Hats off to Chef Colton who not only shared the recipe for the unique and delicious Crispy Brussel Sprouts but also shared his expertise about food and the city. Overall a perfect end to a great visit to San Diego.

Fantastic views at sunset along with excellent food and service. Ideal location for a special event.

After our Balboa Park experience, we summoned an Uber to take us to Island Prime. Mid-afternoon, but not happy hour yet. We sat out on the outdoors deck along the rail at the C-Level lounge. Beautiful skyline view and watercraft watching. We ordered drinks and some appetizers: lobster bisque, artichoke fritters and peel-and-eat shrimp doused with Old Bay seasoning. All of it was delicious. Very attentive staff. We left just as happy hour started. Oh well, we'll know better next time. And there WILL be a next time. You should go also.

The view was amazing, staff friendly and helpful. Ordered the crab legs and they actually remove shells and served! That was best part. All sides were tasty and flavorful.

Island Prime is on the water with great views of downtown san diego and is expensive The Filet was good The pina colada was the worst I’ve had tasted blah not pineapple or coconut yukon potatoes tasted like paste the Cesar salad was small on a large plate We went for my husbands birthday they brought his dessert and said this for you to share a small piece of Cheesecake Didn’t even ask if I wanted a different dessert and the bill was $200 won’t return

Wow! Super impressed, the service was amazing, the food was delicious and the view was impressive. We all came out so full!

My husband and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary while visiting the area. It was a perfect choice. Excellent food, service, and views!

A good place to hang out after work. Great convivial atmosphere and decent food / drink. Will definitely come back, even just for the view!

Great atmosphere, excellent food, fast and discreet service. We really enjoyed ourselves that evening.

Early reservations are a must for a dining experience at this fabulous waterfront restaurant. Expect to enjoy valet parking and a 5 star dining experience from thereon. The wait staff will spoil you and if you have any special needs the management will bend over backward to accommodate you. Our side dishes were as impressive as our entrees. Treat yourself to the cream corn and scalloped potatoes, The portions were adequate enough that everyone at our table was able to sample their goodness. I ordered a trio of filet mignon medallions topped with King Crab, grilled onions and blue cheese. It was all wonderful. We all passed on dessert but the key lime pie was highly recommended. We all opted for a very nice cup of coffee to linger longer. My review wouldn't be complete if I didn't rave about the incredible view of San Diego Bay outside the windows. When asking for a window seat while reserving a table be sure to specify you want the city skyline view. If you only have one night in town for a dining experience this is it.

A colleague and I went for dinner here while attending an orthopedic convention in Coronado. We had been to Island prime several years ago, again during an orthopedic convention, and had a wonderful dinner. We both ordered filet mignon, and a side of onion rings. I had ordered my steak medium-rare, and it came out, medium well. The manager was very gracious and asked what she could bring us while I waited for my properly cooked steak. We had another order of onion rings, which were absolutely spectacular. My mistake when it arrived was perfectly cook and incredibly delicious.

Such a beautiful view from Island Prime, the city of San Diego lights up at night creating a romantic ambiance. We all enjoyed filets, 8 oz deliciousness. They offer several different steak sauces, including Bernaise and a Demi glaze. But none needed. We had side orders of printable, mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and fresh asparagus. They make a great wedge salad. True steak house fashion. Wine list was plentiful, reasonable prices. Service was very good from everyone, especially our main man Andrew.

Impeccable service and a meal I will never forget. The steak is top tier and worth the $60+ price if I remember correctly. The sides are family style so be careful. We had the mashed potatoes and they were super creamy and soft. The dessert is out of this world and made in house daily. The service provided was truly incredible and this a place I would return

One of the best meals I’ve had in the longest time. Do yourself a favor and go to this restaurant. The service was flawless and the food was amazing. Right from the popovers to the Tiramisu Birthday dessert we were offered. The best dish by far, was the angel hair pasta with shrimp and caviar. Out of this world. The other dish we enjoyed was the filet trio. Amazing abs perfectly cooked. For starters, we had the calamari steak. It was amazing.

I am being completely honest as I always am on my reviews, but always respectful. I have to say, I was not impressed with the food. Lobster was so tough the first time and then second it was underdone. Steak was just ok. I would not say that I won't go back , but too many choices to consider it again. Staff was great!

This restaurant was a perfect choice for a business dinner. We were seated along the floor to ceiling picture windows overlooking the San Diego skyline. The service was fantastic. The robust selection of wines was hit with table. We all had their high end steaks, which were cooked to perfection. The desserts were over the top. I recommend the mud pie. I certainly will come back. It is on the expensive side, but well worth it.

From start to finish, this restaurant was fantastic. Our server was prompt and answered all our questions. We were a party of four, and we are a pretty diverse group- one likes quick service, one is picky, one is easy going (me, LoL) and one likes fish. I’m normally a filet type of person, but got a little crazy and ordered the Eye of the Ribeye, and it was Fantastic! We got the HUGE Prawns and crab cake (it was okay), a few salads which were good, and their rolls and butter “to die for!!!” Their sides were really solid too! Asparagus, potatoes (huge)and Brussels sprouts were all good. Even after we were all stuffed, the desserts were really good too! Fantastic food, views and service!

I made reservations for this restaurant for my finance and myself, and oh my goodness; this place is amazing! The moment we walked in we were awestruck! The atmosphere is perfect for date night or special occasions. We were seated in a cozy booth with the most beautiful view of the San Diego skyline! The food, how can I even begin to describe how tasty it was? From the appetizers to the dessert, everything was just perfect! We both got steaks that were just melt-in-your-mouth tender. The prices were more on the expensive side, but well worth it. The staff was also very friendly. I recommend everyone visit when in San Diego!

The food was delicious! We sat out on the patio overviewing the harbor which was nice. The food was expensive but delicious and a nice presentation.

We had the best dinner there!! We had a great ocean view and watched the sunset as we dined with family! The food was excellent. The Ahi Tuna was seriously THE BESt Ahi I have ever had. Hubby had steak trio and loved them all. Other couple had a pasta dish and one Rack if Lamb. Their entrees were excellent as well. I ordered a side of Mac & Cheese... oh my. Soooo yummy!! Highly recommed thus restaurant. Also, service was beyond excellent! We made a reservation as we wanted an ocean view. Highly recommed that you do to!!

We had dinner at Island Prime to celebrate our daughter’s graduation. Normally when eating out in a restaurant that offers such an amazing view and ambience, I don’t expect the food to be great, but Island Prime prove me wrong. We had a party of 7 and we all agreed that the food was very good. Our server was very attentive and took care of us very well which contributed to a fantastic ambience. This was my first dine-in outing since the pandemic and was a bit nervous. As soon as I walked in, I felt comfortable, Island Prime did a good got in providing distance between the tables.

My mom, adult daughter and myself wanted to go to a nice dinner on the water. Our hotel concierge recommended this place, we are so glad he did! This restaurant did not disappoint! It was wonderful, the service, the view, the food was absolutely scrumptious! Yes, it was a bit pricey, however we had two plates of steak with toppings, with mashed potatoes, shrimp entree, asparagus side (huge, plenty for the 3 of us), two mixed drinks and a half bottle of wine. With tip and tax, it was $250 (we leave 20% tips). I would highly recommend dining here, maybe even trying Happy Hour? My husband and I are returning in September to celebrate our anniversary and I plan on returning, it was that yummy! We are a middle class family, but sometimes one just has to splurge! One last thing, I need to eat gluten free and they were absolutely accommodating, they even had gluten free bread!

We have been going since it opened and we go there a couple times then forget about it and go months or a year later-it is ALWAYS amazing food-great service and a view that never gets tired. Treat yourself-reservation is necessary

We had a great experience, drinks, appetizers then entrees. One guest had a nice steak while others had the tuna. We also had a selection of seafood appetizers. It was also nice to watch the sailboats race as we enjoyed the evening.

This lovely restaurant has become our go to "special place". The food is excellent , the view of San Diego and the Bay one of the best. We recently dined here and Courtney our server and Megan , the busser added tothe charm of our visit. hey were attentive, personable and funny.

We were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to try a new restaurant in San Diego. Island Prime was our choice. We had a perfect table by the window, a wonderful waiter, and the food was delicious! The only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating was because when our main meal came it was only a slab of meat (very good meat) on a plate... how about some veggies or mashed.....

Lunch was a wonderful experience here; a colleague and I work for a nonprofit and we brought a very important donor here for this meal and connect. The service was wonderful and the view of the harbor was very nice. We loved our meals; I had the fish tacos and they were really good. It was a great place to bring an important friend.

My husband and I were visiting San Diego for vacation staying on Harbor Island. The first night we went to the C Level side of Island Prime which is more casual, lighter dining. We were delighted with the CLevel Caesar salad, CLevel Louis salad and the Fish and Chips. Tony, our server, gave us excellent service. We also had the Massive Mud pie for dessert which was fantastic! We enjoyed it so much that we decided to go back for Happy Hour to enjoy the bay and skyline views in the-daylight and be there for sunset. They have special appetizers for $7 and drink specials. We had Caesar salads, Coconut shrimp, Chicken Potstickers, and Crusted Brie. They were all fantastic. Our server, Tom gave us excellent service and took good care of us. We enjoyed both of our visits to Island Prime and we highly recommend it!

Wow what a meal and what a view. Our first table was disappointingly view impaired but the awesome hostess sensed my disappointment and moved us to an amazing table as soon as it was available. Our server Scott was the best! Funny and very helpful/knowledgeable. He really contributed to the 5 star rating. In fact we might not have moved tables if Scott hadn’t still been our server. The appetizer was a shared ahi stack with tuna, crab and avocado and plantain chips. So glad we shared it as it was huge! For dinner at Scott’s recommendation I got the “eye of the ribeye” and it was one of the leanest, best tasting steaks I’ve ever had. As was my husband’s tenderloin Oscar style. Cocktails were top notch. I’ll be back to San Diego in a few months and I will definitely return to Island Prime. Highly recommend.

We ate there last December and we had a great time. Location right on the water with great views. Can sit inside our out. Food was excellent and service attentive. Not in the gaslamp district but only a couple of miles away.

Enrique did a fabulous job as my family and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. Twice baked potato with lobster is a must.

Island Prime is a staple of San Diego restaurants. When Covid put them down, their team decided to use the floating barge next to Coasterra as a pop up restaurant. This facility has been used in the past as a banquet and wedding facility. It has turned into a wonderful dining experience. All Covid protocols are being followed. Justin, our server, was both professional and attentive. Our meal consisted of White Shrimp with Avocado, Hearts of Palm and Russian dressing, along with a Stone Fruit and Burrata salad. Our mains were Nordic Blu Salmon and Snake Farms Wagyu Eye of the Rib-eye. Both were cooked perfectly and served piping hot. A nice dessert of Strawberries Romanoff and a fresh Peach tart with Guava. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a wonderful dinner and stunning views of the San Diego skyline

Had a great dinner with good company. I ordered one of the steaks and it was delicious and cooked to perfection. Out server was nice but it seemed like our food took forever to come. We were the last people there. We ordered the brussle sprouts and the mud pie for dessert and both were bomb. Were going to the more casual side of the restaurant this evening. They say all the food comes from the same kitchen so we're excited to see how we liked it since we enjoyed our experience here a lot. I definitely suggest and will be back.

We enjoyed another wonderful evening at Island Prime last night. We have never been disappointed there! Our server Justin was a mere 25 years old but was super knowledgeable about the food and the wines. He did not steer us wrong on any of his recommendations and he had a great demeanor. We started with the crab cake that was big and fat and delicious , and their yummy popovers. My husband had the lamb chops which were amazingly tender and delicious. I had the filet trio – perfect for me since I always enjoy the combo platter and getting to enjoy the three different toppings on the filet. We shared the corn succotash as our side that was quite tasty. Our dinner finished strong with the Potted Brownie Banana Split for dessert – a wonderful combination of warm and ooey gooey brownie with peanut butter ice, dulce de leche, fudge & bruleed bananas. We waddled out of the restaurant after a leisurely and delightful 3-hour dinner with a view of the bay, downtown and Coronado.

Ventured to Island Prime while visiting San Diego on business. The location is just perfect right on the water out on a pier! The dining experience was just ok. We got some beer and seafood but to be honest did not find anything remarkable about the experience. The restaurant is in fair condition while looking a bit dated. The food was ok and service average.

The food is amazing and so is the view at night, would recommend! The food is a bit pricey but worth it!

We always eat on the C Level or lounge side. The view of the harbor is magnificent. It is one of the best run restaurants in SD City and County. A modest priced menu with numerous choices. Happy Hour is nice but it is truly enjoyable even if you miss HH. Our feelings after eating here happily for over ten years is that if you can't eat on the Venice, Italy lagoon then Island Prime is where you should be.

We love steaks and think Island Prime's are the best! We make sure we go here for our special birthdays and other special events. They have changed their menu recently, but the steaks are still there. Every steak is always grilled to perfection.

This is one of the best places in San Diego, the best views and a great the level for fine dining. I really loves this place, but it is a little pricey, but worth it. If you want to enjoy the place but can not afford it, there is a catch! they have next to it the C Level for lunch, the same view and a great food too! Like I said loves this place and you will too!!

While all Cohen Group Restaurants are each unique and wonderful Island Prime is our family favorite. Our preference is the C-Level Lounge which is the outside patio section of the restaurant. The views of the skyline are amazing and you are sitting virtually in the bay and their unique and very interesting menu is exceptional. Our first stop when guests are in town.

Unbelievable view and amazing food. The modern interior with floor to ceiling windows for a beautiful panoramic view of the harbor and downtown San Diego. We all had steaks and my porterhouse was one of the best I’ve eaten. Great atmosphere, first class service, and top shelf food! Thanks to everyone who recommended Island Prime to our family!

Great atmosphere, we did the valet service. Our family started with the calamari which was tasty. The food presentation was very nice. My scallops were really good.

D E L I S I O U S. From perfect steaks and meat to fantastic seafood, this is your spot. And the setting is right on the bay which is gorgeous and you can as Otis Reading said in "Sittin on the Dock of the Bay"....."Watchin the ships come in and I watch the go away again". Just an incredible location. get one of many outdoor tables at dusk, dig in, watch the sun set and just say WOW. One thing I did forget are to 2 words in San Diego that strike dread into the hearts of beach goers and sunset watchers throughout San Diego is "June Gloom". It's fog that is sucked in off the water every June when the deserts heats up and draws the air in off the ocean. It's almost without fail and cold, which makes outdoor seating not as attractive. This is a must go to spot!

Fantastic Food and the views are phenomenal. The filet trio was cooked to perfection. Dessert was out of this world. Loved every bit of it.

Went here with my wife after an evening of sailing. Were provided a window table with nice view. Shared a nice tuna appetizer and whole sea bass and key lime pie for dessert. Pie may have been the best part of the meal and should be seriously considered if you visit. Waiter seemed perplexed that we ordered only one entree and no alcoholic beverages. We barely saw him the rest of the meal. We had nearly finished the appetizer before any bread was brought to the table. Thus had a long wait to get the check. One appetizer, one entree, one dessert, plus tip=$120.

Went there several times just for the pork chop. It was removed from the menu quite awhile ago, but still has not come back:( I have not been back, and probably won't be back, even though the popovers are good.

Great food with quite a nice selection of items on the menu for all different tastes. Overlooks the bay and downtown skyline, charming location with some upscale ambiance...Beautiful for a mid afternoon lunch or early evening dinner, possible date night or for a nice family dinner.

Great location, great view and ambience. Wonderful staff and food was cooked to perfection and to our needs. First time there and will return.

Welcoming people - smiley and good to deal with. Service was great as were the steaks. Everyone had the Filet Mignon. Shared the Battered onion rings and Cheesy Potatoes. Fabulous view of the bay. I would just ask that everyone dress up a little for this quality restaurant (it deserves this).

Came here as a group of 8. I highly recommend you make a reservation as this place gets busy, even on weeknights and Sundays which is when we went. We didn't have any issues self parking and the lot was pretty big. We had a nice round table with great views of the city! This place has such great city skyline views. Menu has a very nice steak and seafood selection. This place is not cheap at all and is a fine dining place, our bill was over $1,000 for the 8 of us. We had a variety of items for dinner but no apps. They give you one of the most glorious pop over rolls with honey butter, it is so good I could have ate 10 of these. I had the lobster bisque which was 10/10 for me, so rich and creamy. I had the catch of the day which was a corvina, it was delicious, I loved the fried rice and the sauce was great. The hubs had the swordfish, which he said was average, not a ton of flavor just lightly grilled. Lots of our guests had steaks all said they were good. We shared Brussel Sprouts and the lobster potato which were all so amazing, the potato was enough to feed our whole table of eight, so when the menu says serves 2, it serves way more!! Highly recommend for a romantic dinner or for out of town guest visiting San Diego. Service was a bit slow and inattentive, we had many empty drinks, but we were not in a hurry.

On the bay in the San Diego harbor, this is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. It's view, day or night of the San Diego skyline is stunning, reminiscent of the Rusty Pelican view of the Miami skyline...and many others. The name of the game is fish at the C Level. The C-Level Louie salad was popular amongst our group. It is SIXABLE and filled with a Alaskan king crab and rock shrimp....in a great mixture of greens and tomatoes, onions and cukes in a thousand island dressing. I did not see one plate that was not completely finished. I had the everything crusted ahi which was cooked perfectly with a side of chinese black rice and a pineapple salsa. Nice mix. Plenty of ahi and savory crust worked perfectly. Service was attentive. No runs no hits no errors. A table of 8 did not wait from the cocktails to the pineapple upside down cake (split by 8 and STILL SOME LEFT OVER). Enjoy the view. Savor the fresh fish (there's also s teaks and chops). Valet parking seemed to be the way to go. We ubered from downtown (10 mins). Price is typical fresh seafood and reasonable. Good for couples, groups, kids too.

Went here for our anniversary dinner and it was the best time we have had in a long time. The service and food were just perfect. The Server we had was very attentive and very prompt and explained everything to us. The food was hot when serverd. We were not disappointed at all. We ordering sides be careful as it is a lot - we took some home. The even gave us a slice of anniversary cake. Nice surprise!

Great location and amazing food. I will definitely be back. My group of 6 enjoyed the San Diego Food Week prefix menu. The lamb chops were the hit of the night.

I chose this restaurant for my sister's birthday and they did not disappoint! The view of the bay was amazing! Our server Nichole was attentive and mad some excellent recommendations for our meal. All the staff worked together to ensure service was top notch. My sister had the rack of lamb and said it was some of the best shells ever had. I had the catch of the day and it was absolutely delicious.

We started at the bar with drinks and an appetizer before our reservation. The ambience was great. The views were spectacular. We had the artichoke appetizer and even though it was fried it wasn’t too greasy. The bartender was very attentive and her drinks were delicious. Once at our dinner table our waiter continued with excellent service. We had the chopped salad . The fillet trio and the ribeye. The meats were tender and flavorful. Worth every penny. We had a potato side dish and the mushrooms. All in all delicious and we will be back on our next trip to the area.

There is so much good food in San Diego! I never expected it to be a highlight of our trip!!! Island Prime came highly recommended from friends in Texas. We both ended up ordering steaks. So yummy! Great view! Unfortunately, it was cloudy so no susnset that we had hoped for. Tender, delicious & melt in your mouth steak. We ate too much at lunch to truly enjoy this meal. The bread was also delicious.

We were after a friends low key wedding. The staff were lovely, our main contact was engaging and funny. The food is outstanding, I had the trio of filet Mignon and they were incredible, the meat was so tender and melted. We shared some starters and sides, the calamari was really good, the prawns were huge. The Brussel sprouts and creamed corn were very nice, the mash was ok. We ate so much, the wedding cake pushed me over the edge! It was all delicious. Highly recommend

Four of us dined here on a very busy Saturday night [yes, we had reservations weeks before]. Each of us had a spectacular meal experience, including superb service and a wonderful view as the sun set. One of us had the vegetarian special which was awesome in presentation and flavors. One of us must be gluten free and was impressed with the server's knowledge and focus on getting everything right - indeed, most of the menu is celiac friendly. Everyone enjoyed their meals, including the three 'sides' we ordered - onion rings, garlic fries, and even the crispy brussel sprouts which were the best I've tasted. Also, the bread served warm was way too good - oh, my. We ate so much we couldn't consider desert; yet, two of us were celebrating birthdays so we found room to share the delicious [thankfully small] cakes offered with a candle. Every one of us would love to come back again. Probably expensive for some, but I thought it was appropriately priced for the value.

We've eaten at Island Prime numbers of times over the years. Consistency is the key: consistently delicious food, well prepared; consistently attentive service (with servers who really guide the diner with recommendations ... other than the typically voiced "excellent choice" by servers most everywhere else); an overall delightful experience.

Was part of a group of 11 to celebrate a birthday. The view of the San Diego Bay is always a treat - seeing fireworks in the distance from the SD Symphony Summer Pops on a clear night. But even without a view, the food is the centerpiece - with everyone trying something slightly different, we all agreed our choices were well presented and delicious. I had the rack of lamb with risotto and there was so much, I had enough for a second meal. The seared ahi was very tasty on a bed of wild rice. Others who had the steak really enjoyed their choices and I got to sample some of the sides: best were Brussel sprouts and mac 'n cheese. Even with a large group, everyone got their meals at the same time and our servers did not miss a beat. Well done!

Dirty bathroom, unpleasant smell in the lobby, unconcerned unresponsive staff, very ordinary food. We needed to take a cab there from the Hyatt. Also, the menu says that a 4% surcharge is added to one’s bill to cover the cost of recent rise in minimum wage! Best thing is the view. But, it is the same view from the harbor that we saw all the way back in the cab. There must be better restaurants with a view in San Diego. Don’t go.

WE arrived at 6:30pm as a Saturday Night, beautiful sunset, sailboats passing by. As always the service was excellent. The Seabass tartar was delicious, my wife's scallops were cooked perfectly and my filet was juicy and tender. I enjoyed a new Chardonay,, the Snitch. If you are unable to eat on the Venice, Italy, Bay, then Island Prime is the restaurant to enjoy.

On the water with excellent food and very good service. We were there for restaurant week and the menu had some good choices for dinner.

I agree Island Prime has great views and good service The popovers are ok the Ceasar salad had a drizzle of salad dressing with most on the bottom of the plate but still not enough The mashed potatoes were quite good couldn't the asparagus had an unusual taste The steak by far was the best part of the meal but wasn't worth the $188 price tag for the meal and we didn't drink

I recently took a group here and only have amazing things to say about the food, service and experience. Jon Boyle was outstanding helping to get the reservation made and was so pleased that, upon arrival, they were able to merge our two tables into one bigger one. The service was on point and attentive. Our reservation was later in the evening and the restaurant had run out of the special for the day, but the chef quickly created a new one for us that was so, so tasty. To top it all off, the view of the city is breathtaking. If you are looking for a nice steak dinner when in San Diego, you need to come to Island Prime. You won't be disappointed.

I've been here several times and it never disappoints. The food is expertly prepared and served by friendly and knowledgable wait staff. The wine list is excellent - but should be for the prices charged. Island Prime is always on my list of dinner spots - especially for a special occassion, or a business dinner.

If we lived in the area we would be back here every week. The staff were very friendly and professional. The menus offers a great mix of dishes for most tastes, and the main dining area offers great views views across to San Diego . We were made to feel very welcome, un-rushed and had a really great evening. We didn’t book, but it would probably better to.

We came here after our vow renewal. We had a lovely time and our food was excellent. We would love to return if we are in the area again.

Food was good. Ordered crab cakes and I've had better these seemed dry and small for what you pay for. Ordered the Tomahawk steak meal for two and asked to change the a side to the brussel sprouts, but they didn't end up being great. The steak and the mashed potatoes were WONDERFUL! so was the caesar salad. The view was beautiful and the restaurant was clean and service was good.

We celebrated my birthday/Thanksgiving here and my husband could not have chosen a better restaurant. From the minute we sat down everything was amazing. They had a printed menu with my birthday at the top and the selections were awesome. Could choose traditional turkey, ahi tuna, salmon, two types of steak and a great selection for our little ones. I think we almost ordered every dish on the menu and there was nothing but positive praise for the food. Our server MICHAEL went above and beyond that evening, the restaurant was at capacity yet we were made to feel like we had a private waiter. Our every need was met and then some. The views from the restaurant are magical, the city lights, the boats going by and the water. I am looking forward to going back to Island Prime when we return to San Diego, I strongly suggest you give it a try.

We ended my birthday after sailing at Island Prime. Super friendly hostesses have us a window table. My husband had the prime rib, which he said was one of the best he's had! He also tried the wedge salad. I had the lobster bisque, which was ok,not the best I've had-I prefer Coronados Pheoes bisque! A huge baked potato, but the restaurant should have salt &pepper on tables-maybe an oversight? I loved the filet trio-so tender, great, different toppings!. We ended up taking some home. As locals, its hard to beat this great location & food

Delicious food (including the “Yorkshire pudding” - my US colleague insisted it was a kind of bread...). Perfectly cooked and seasoned steaks, fantastic tuna, great lamb and very interesting vegetarian choices.

Over looking the Naval Base in San Diego,(across the bay) Island Prime is special enough. I was there with my wife for a romantic dinner and expressed so to the hostess.. They moved our table and we enjoyed the awesome view! Then came the food and wine! everything was perfect; on point.. Thanks again for having us!

We dined at Island Prime. There are superb views of Coronado Bridge and San Diego. We started with cocktails and the very good cheese platter. For our mains, we had so much great food. I had their ahi tuna with black rice. My husband loved his crab legs. Wow. So much crab in those legs. We had left overs for the next day. We had a very nice dinner and service at Island Prime. We found a free parking spot in the self park area.

Chose Island Prime for a birthday celebration. Excellent choice. Jeremy was our waiter and he was outstanding. We had the Calamari Katsu for an appetizer which was delicious. My only negative comment was the small portion size vs the price. My wife had the Island Prime Filet Trio and I had the 8 oz center cut filet which were both good choices. The restaurant was also able to accommodate our request for a table next to a window to enjoy the view and constant parade of boats passing by. Great experience.

We just had dinner last night… totally enjoyed the fish and chips with hush puppies!! The service was excellent with a very upbeat waitress. If possible, ask for the inside corner table! Beautiful views of downtown San Diego and the Coronado Bridge. Make your reservations early… they fill up quickly even during the week.

I’ve been looking at magazine articles about this restaurant for a year. We finally made a reservation this week to celebrate a birthday and my out of town family who was visiting. It exceeded all expectations. I can say that this is now my favorite restaurant. Ambiance, waiter’s attentiveness, and amazing food made this a memorable experience. Thank you Island Prime!

Pricey but wonderful Turkey dinner here at Island Prime. We made reservations weeks in advance & got an incredible table with a harbor view! Food was fabulous! SO GLAD & GRATEFUL

Amazing view. Great service. Good food. A “must to” place. The guacamole is 🤤 delicious, fresh seafood 🦞 chill ambiance

We have always loved coming here. Everything is consistently outstanding and the steaks are always unbelievable. Service never falters from server to server as being also excellent. The views are beautiful and if you just want to come for cocktails the bar is comfortable and relaxing. We always book our table ahead of time and request window seating.

We sent with extended family who were in town for a wedding. The food was very good. Outstanding steak especially the wagu.

We were a party of 3 couples celebrating 4 birthdays. We were very pleased with this restaurant. The service was excellent and very attentive. The Lobster bisque was not to our liking. It was a little flat and bland for our liking. Beyond that everything else was superbly done. The special they had some type of steak wrapped around king crab in a pin wheel fashion, with a deshelled king crab leg that seemed like it might have been poached in butter. Do not order a bunch of side, the side feed multiple people. The double stuffed baked potato could feed our entire table of 6, the mac and cheese i can't even begin to say word on for how delicious it was. The wild mushrooms are wonderful to share. The snake river rib eye was a center cut rib eye cooked perfect to order. When it arrived it looked like Gordon Ramsey himself must have cooked it. Very flavorful and tender. Needless to say I was "Mikey last night" and cleaned up most of what everyone couldn't finish. The giant prones were nicely cooked and delicious. If you have never tried escargot then this is the place to try it. You can not go wrong with their escargot. This place was great. Someone managed to get info to the staff about our birthdays and then they brought out this magnificent coffee icecream cake as well as a Keylime pie. We just simple dis not have room. Yet one slice of each somehow made it down. Now its the next morning and i have no need for breakfast, I'm still full. I know where we are going next time we come to San Diego.

Caught up with friends while visiting San Diego and they suggested Island Prime. The service was great and the waterfront view was outstanding. The lamb chops were reasonable in portion and perfectly seasoned for a delicious meal. The citrus salmon and scallops were the other two meals, which were plated nicely and enjoyed by my friends. The ice cream trio and pineapple upside down cake were excellent finishing touches. All for $197 before tip (3 beers in that total). Not cheap, but nothing short of outstanding from start to finish.

We dined at this establishment to celebrate the closing of one our clients properties; the VIEW was amazing. We brought our own bottle of wine (2-bottles; each wine as given to the server tow taste and 1-bottle corkage was waived). The service staff was attentive and knowledgeable. We all ordered a couple of cocktails and appetizers ; never felt rushed to order. We each ordered different dinners with two (2) guest sharing steaks; they didn't flinch. They asked how each like their steaks and even brought their salads (Chopped salad) already divided in half. We even asked the service staff for an extra yorkshire pudding; sooo good! Only thing, I wish they would wait untill ALL is finished wiht there dinner as not to let our guest to hurray up. Dessert was also a favorite, as we split three (including our standard, BDAY dessert in which someone at the table ALWAYS has one). ALL-in-ALL, the dining experience was good. Would go back again!

Love the location! Love the ambiance! Love the fabulous menu! Things that are super important are free parking before 4:30 pm . Outstanding staff take great care of you. Thank you to The GM Rich for taking care of our birthday reservation. Thank you to Jade for awesome service. It was an amazing Friday evening we chose to dine . The place was very clean and organized. One of the best tasting Prime Rib EVER. All our dishes looked as if an artist created them . You must visit Island Prime very soon . We all loved it...

I had happy hour with family and enjoyed the view and special drinks. I will come back next time to enjoy dinner with outside seating and the drop dead gorgeous view !

A top pick restaurant in San Diego. Exemplary service, food, and drink with a beautiful view. You’re on Harbor Island so the full downtown skyline is before you. The city lights in the evening provide a stunning background to the waterfront. Couples, family, and friends will all enjoy the great menu selections full of Prime five star dishes. Reservations are suggested for this popular eatery.

Island Prime is a great restaurant to go for dinner. It’s romantic with a view of the water and the food is typically consistent from the appetizers to the entrees. Make a reservation a week out and you should get a decent time slot. The center cut filet and the snake river meats are delicious. Service was great last night. However, I lost about 3 oz of my steak due to it being rare. I love a good medium rare steak but it looked like steak tartare in the middle. For that reason, I gave it a four this time around. Dining tip - Island Prime takes the passport card and offers a BOGO on an entree. It is a great way to save money around town.

The food was excellent and nicely plated! The view was really beautiful - definitely a must go, on an sunset or evening date night. Our server was friendly, and professional. We had a great time!

Based on the excellent reviews, and especially the view, I made a reservation 6 weeks in advance, mentioning that it was for my daughter’s 20th birthday, and that we would appreciate a nice table with a nice view. There was no valet parking on arrival despite heavy rain. We were originally led to a table in the back of the restaurant, with no view on the bay. I had to have an embarrassing side talk with the server and we were moved to an OK table, where some of us could see San Diego’s skyline when stretching our necks a little bit. Food was OK, pricey as expected. Service was very long...and not a single word or attention for my daughter’s birthday. We will find another place next year.

I cannot find a fault with this restaurant apart from the very grumpy lady at the front desk. As soon as we walked in and approached the desk she wasn't happy at all and it showed. Once we were seated everything changed. We had an absolute gem of a waitress called Jessie S. Nothing was to much trouble for her.She recommended so many good dishes, and was so bright and breezy too. My sister and I decided to share the blt wedge and the Ahi, Crab and avocado stack. When our order arrived she had already divided up for us. My brother ordered the fish and chips and was overwhelmed by the quality. The views across the water are stunning. The staff (mostly) are very pleasant, and the location is amazing. We would 100% eat here again , next time we are in San Diego

Had a delicious dinner with a beautiful sunset water view to celebrate a birthday. The servers and staff were awesome

We arrived at 11:30am for lunch on a Wednesday, and there was already a long line outside. Fortunately, the line moved fast, and we were seated within 10 or so minutes. I’m pretty sure that folks that arrived right after us, were told that there was a 45 to 60 minute wait. Reservations highly recommended! We LOVED everything...the food, drinks, service and the atmosphere. It’s a bit pricey, but we felt it was well worth it.

The view of the San Diego skyline from the outdoor seating area was awesome. The food was very good and the service was great. A bit pricy - but you pay for the view. I would go again...

Stop for lunch at 3 pm was quite crowded, a good sign that the food is good. I took a sunrise virgin cocktail. Then we had the lobster BLT and the Thai steak salad. Both good and quite big.

I don’t think I have ever sat and ate amidst such a remarkable view of a city before! Not only do you see the beautiful San Diego city lit up in all its glory but you sit as if your right on the water! The service was impeccable and the food was absolutely delicious! Truly a wonderful experience!!

We ate dinner at Island Prime / C-Level Lounge while in San Diego for Spring Break. I definitely recommend sitting on the patio, as it offers unobstructed views of the harbor and the heaters make it more comfortable if there is a slight cool breeze. We split some calimari and the seared ahi stack (blue crab/avocado) for starters and followed it with steaks (filet was good, not great) and king crab (very good). I also did the Sommelier's Selected Wine Flights, which was a great option b/c my wife does not care for red wine. It was comprised of 3 oz each - Panther Creek Pinot Noir (Willamette), Mount Veeder Cab (Napa) and Lancaster Estate Cab (Alexander Valley) and all three were a good value for the $35 price in my opinion. We decided to forego dessert, but the table adjacent to us ordered the Retro Island Prime Mud Pie, which was easily 2 lbs of cake and they had the waitress cut it in half for our kids to share, which was very nice of them. I had a bite and it was amazing! Even though this was a trip with family, I'll certainly be back with my wife or clients next time I'm in town for business.

Amazing spot on the Coronado Bay was just an amazing dinner spot on a wonderful Friday night. Our son just graduated college and we wanted a beautiful spot overlooking the bay and we chose: Island Prime Restaurant. Amazing meal, great service, and wonderful ambience.

This is one of my favorite go-to harbor island restaurants. The staff and especially our waiter, Jeremy was very attentive, knowledgeable and a great personality. He had great recommendations about the food and bar menu. It was my husbands 60th birthday and it didn’t disappoint us. We started off with salt and pepper calamari. Jeremy recommend a great cocktail that paired perfectly with the calamari. My husband and his son had the Pork loin chop Tomahawk and rack of lamb. They both topped it off with a broiled lobster tail. I tasted both dishes and both were tender and juicy. The lamb had a great sear which made it even better. It was accompanied by a red wine reduction sauce which was earthy and rich. I had the Mahi Mahi with a beurre blanc sauce(which was light, creamy and didn’t overwhelm the fish) and grilled asparagus. The fish was tender and cooked perfectly. The asparagus was one of the best I’ve had in a while. A lot of places have a woody taste to it. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better evening. We watched the harbor cruise boats and private fishing charters stop by to wave hello. Thanks to Jeremy and all the staff for making this our “Break Free From Covid” place!!😊

We had an amazing view of the bay with outstanding service from Kelsey. The lobster sandwich was enormous, the fish & chips were large and came with hush puppies and the salad with grilled chicken was flavorful and crisp.

I loved ,and truly enjoyed my dinner at Island Prime the location is beautiful you can see the Coronado Bridge and San Diego amazing skyline. For the appetizer I had the Dozen Oysters on the Half Shell which had three different types of oysters delicious! For dinner the Australian Rack of Lamb oh my was this a gorgeous and Amazing !!! It was cooked to perfection the dinner roll was very delicious ummm..can I have the recipe LOL…For my Libations l had The Desi Arnaz cruzan mango rum, papaya nectar, mint, fresh lime, soda I will most definitely be coming back again!

No doubt, this is a famous San Diego restaurant in a beautiful location; however, it is quite expensive and just doesn't live up to that price. Three people, bill over $300 ought to leave you thrilled, but did not. My steak was cooked improperly, was supposed to be butterflyed. When I mentioned it to the "delivery person", she said it was. Waitress never came around to check in on us. Manager did, but it was too late to make changes. Sides are "for the table" and are HUGE, but wasteful unless everyone at the table wants the same things. And..... there is a 4% surcharge (noted on each page of menu in bold print no less) to cover "increased costs and new labor costs i.e. a minimum wage. I really feel this is unacceptable. It wouldn't be charged if it was just a food cost increase, or even electricity. It's all about the wages for staff. This place (ditto for all Cohn restuarants) is so expensive, why don't they just add 50 cents to each item, or even a dollar. End of rant on this. I won't go back.

First time here. Went for dinner. Got an amazing table in the corner with glass on both sides with views of the water. Service was the best I've had in a while. Food was all VERY good. Not inexpensive but worth it. Perhaps my new favorite in SD!

Three of us went out for a special dinner at Island Prime. Three main complaints: 1. $62 New York Steak had to send back - a really tough tendon running thru the middle. Massive waste of steak! 2. 4% additional service charge added - just make the dinners 50 cents more. 3. $8 valet parking fee. When you are paying $300 for dinner - don't charge for parking!! There are about 10 free parking spaces - but don't plan on getting any of them.

Make a reservation and pray for parking, but there is valet too. **In the reservation comments ask for window seating. We used Opentable. My family of 3 ate dinner here and it was very good, the location for observing the sunset on Harbor Island was amazing. We all ate steak, lobster, and it was good, but not as memorable as the sunset. Sides are large, would recommend on splitting them for two people. I would definitely recommend and return.

Amazing view. This was our first night out during our vacation, and Island Prime didn’t disappoint. The filet trio and scallop entree were delicious and the complimentary bread with jalapeño butter was out of this world. Impeccable service. A little pricey, but well worth it for a special occasion.

Fantastic restaurant, food was exceptional, service was great. Ambience is fantastic for any occasion. It's right on the water and the view is exceptional. I would recommend Island Prime to everyone!

As many have said, the popovers, lobster bisque, and twice baked potatoes (huge portion) were all awesome. The waygu steak I ordered was cooked perfectly. My wife got the Mediterranean Sea bass special over a bed of fresh corn succotash and raved about it. Our server, Seth, said that the dish went over well enough to see it make the next menu update in June. Seth was great with recommendations for food, drinks, and even explaining the menu in detail, when prompted. A great night at a great restaurant with great service.

An excellent evening spent at Island Prime - service was excellent - to be honest almost a little too quick and efficient as I usually like to linger a little longer but apart from that I could not fault the friendliness and efficiency and delicious food - we enjoyed waygu beef tartare, skirt steak, seared tuna - all absolutely lovely and washed down with a Croatian wine from the Dalmatian coast which is not one you see often and was utterly lovely! can also recommend the wonderfully original cocktail menu for an aperitif! Would definitely return perhaps in the day time to enjoy the view!

This restaurant sits over the water in San Diego. It's really relaxing and fun. It's like everything they do is a specialty. The food is amazing. The food is very rich and decadent. The portion size is very generous. Most entrees are large enough to share. If you choose to get a side, make sure you have company to share it with. You will get taken care of by the staff they are very attentive. Island Prime is worth making a reservation and enjoying great food!

The staff at the front desk are off the charts even in a busy hectic enviroment they remained very freindly and always smiling !

Excellent steaks rivaled by the harbor views ! My spouse had the 20 Oz bone-in ribeye with a brown peppercorn sauce. There was very little fat, maybe an ounce, that my spouse cut off. The steak was flavorful, juicy and cooked to order. I had the trio of filet mignon. Each 3 Oz piece had a different sauce or topping: mushrooms on the 1st beef medallion, lump crab topping on the middle filet, and my choice of fresh green chimichurri on the 3rd steak. All 3 filet mignon were nestled onto a spoon of mashed potatoes with red wine Demi sauce. We also ordered a side of grilled asparagus enough for two persons. Dinner also comes with a hot freshly baked popover. it’s a bread that resembles a hollow muffin. Excellent steak house! Excellent water views! Attentive service! Only thing missing is live music from a pianist. Just a suggestion.

The view from most tables is magnificent. Service was attentive. The popovers were delicately delicious. The octopus appetizer was spicy but every bite was a mouth watering explosion. The black and white tuna entree was perfectly cooked to rare and a large portion. Great for special events or casual dining.

Very good. Called last minute and they were able to accommodate us. They were able to seat us early and the service was good. Bread is fantastic. Steak medallions with crab were good. View was great.

Birthday dinner for the wife. The lobster bisque soup was one of the best. Service was outstanding. Views are great! Will definitely return.

Wow location. Lobster sandwich — excellent. Comes with lobster bisque that is laced with sherry. Watch dolphins and sailboats as you eat. Lunch— get there early. Eat outside at the far end for the view. Great service. Desserts are wonderful also.

This has to be one of San Diego’s finer restaurants. The cost is on the high side and well worth it. It is a real treat to have such a large selection of main dishes. Soups and salads are outstanding. The popovers and lobster bisque will be remembered. The service is commendable, with friendly servers and others keeping water glasses filled and meeting any request. There view of San Diego Bay with the boat activity and the view of the San Diego waterfront and Coronado Island are spectacular. It is a treat to enjoy an outstanding dinner with a view to be remembered. This is San Diego at its best.

What a beautiful view, and an even better steak. The filet mignon was perfect with an array of toppings to choose from. The mashed potatoes are so creamy and delicious. The creamed corn was super good too. The popovers are my favorite little treat, with their butter, it’s so yummy.

The view of downtown San Diego at night is breathtaking. The service was about as good as it gets. I ordered the 3 piece filet dinner and found it to be good, but not as good as I had expected. If I had closed my eyes I would have thought that I was eating hamburger meat. The crab that was served with the filets was good, but was not in the quantity that I had expected either. For $52.00 I was expecting better. I will go back, but my expectations may be a bit lower than they have been in the past.

I wouldn't recommend the place just on it's food, but Island Prime has a great view. Ambiance is a bit hectic, and the table kinda smells like a dirty rag. Being local, I'm not going to go here on a regular basis for a meal, but if someone is in town and wants to eat here for the view, I wouldn't say no....

I have lived in San Diego my whole life and the view over the Bay toward downtown San Diego is my favorite. This place has it all. They have good food, good service, great drinks and that view. The prices are what you would expect here.

We had a reservation but the group ahead of us decided to stay for several hours, we were offered to enjoy drinks at the bar and after that, still waiting, we were offered a place to sit to enjoy appetizers until we could be seated. We were seated quickly after that and we were able to enjoy a great dinner, the Chicken under a Brick was maybe the best chicken dish I've ever eaten in a restaurant (or maybe ever) and the CUSTOMER SERVICE was incredible, from the hostess to the bartender, servers and bus staff. What a great evening out!

A short ride from our hotel suite at the Hilton, we arrived a little early and was accommodated by the lovely hostess at the front door. We were informed that since this restaurant participated in the city’s restaurant week celebration and they had a limited menu, we didn’t know about it. And due to recent knowledge about a strict diet for my love, the hostess gracefully notified the house manager MATT who listened to our concerns and he had Sous Chef COLTON, come out to acknowledge and accommodate and make what ever she wanted!!! Awesome!!! A beautiful water front table was offered to us by the hostess and this was one of the best seats in the house. Waiting on us was COURTNEY who was notified about our concerns. She was well aware about it and took our issues to the highest!!! Also high praises for JANE who helped out due to a large party next to us!!! A bottle 2015 Landmark Vineyard Overlook Chardonnay started our night. Smooth, exciting fruity flavor, well balanced tones. One of our fav wineries!!! For dinner we decided on the bacon blue cheese wedge salad for each and a filet Mignon with a lobster tail and I had the Parmesan crusted rack of lamb. Both entrees were prepared and grilled to perfection!!! Nice portion, great lamb taste, with 6 chops, beautiful presentation, yummy!!! Filet was grilled medium rare of perfection!!! For dessert a sorbet mango and a cheese cake to share and plenty of room to finish the entire dessert. And we can’t forget about the warm pop overs with the jalapeño butter... oh so good!!! Overall, great experience, service and ambiance!!! Romantic water views with boats going by. Great food and wine. “A” rating by the city. Kudos to all of the above mentioned staff who accommodated our dining concerns!!! Awesome evening!!! We will be back!!! Enjoy!!!🍽🍽🍽

Really good steakes and side dishes, and a beautiful view, but very questionable business ethics, as they add a surcharge of 4% to every check "to help cover increasing costs and in support of the recent increases to minimum wage and benefits for our dedicated Team Members." (official website statement) What? So instead of increasing the menu prices to get their workers compensated properly, they add a surcharge at the very bottom of the check where you won't see it? What a scam.

Since a number of our family members were elsewhere on Thanksgiving, we decided to take two of our adult children to the C-Level side of Island Prime for Thanksgiving. We have always enjoyed the venue overlooking San Diego Bay. I was a little hesitant since we would be outdoors on a late November day, and since in recent years they have used almost exclusively valet parking, which slows everything down when you leave and is expensive. The latter was thankfully taken care of with free parking for everyone; and the former by efficient heaters in the ceiling. The turkey dinner was outstanding and plentiful, as was the appetizer and dessert. Our waiter was most personable and efficient. To round out our perfect evening, the bay view was awesome as we saw the city lights come on.

Typical Cohn family restaurant: All flash, no substance. You will pay a steep price to look out over the bay at this restaurant. The food is no better than your average greasy spoon -- but the prices are certainly memorable! The service was fair at best. So open your wallet and don't say you weren't warned.

This place is certainly a 5 star experience...The food was excellent, the service impeccable and the drinks were all delicious. A wee bit pricey so look online for menu and pricing if cost is a factor but it not...DO NOT MISS this place.

We were on vacation in San Diego from Scotland for the festive period, and having dined at Island Prime some years before, we were excited to visit again. The service in this restaurant is first class, from the moment you enter. Sadly a few of our dishes were served really quite cold, and we had to send them back. The restaurant was extremely busy, the kitchen must have been run ragged. Our dishes were re-made quickly & without any fuss at all, and deducted from the final check. All our food was delicious. We received profuse apologies from our server, and a little later, the maitre d’. Sometimes the true mark of a restaurant is how they deal with a problem that might occur when it’s super-busy, and they did so with grace & elegance. Because of that we will always return to the Cohn restaurants when in SD.

Fantastic ambiance and service. Had the tomahawk, bone-in rib eye and filet trio. Top it off with the mud pie. Makes it an amazing night!

Spectacular location with views of the harbor and water. You’ll get to see the ships zipping around. My food rating below: Popover bread: 10/10- the single best piece of bread I have ever had Mac N Cheese: 8/10- good cheesiness Brussel Sprouts: 7.5/10- fine nothing special Creamed Corn: 8/10- good flavor

My husband and I made Island Prime the last dinner while on our vacation to San Diego. We started wiith delicious cocktails at the bar while we waited for our table. Once seated, we had a fantastic time with our talented server, Jessie. She walked us through the menu, answered all of our foodie questions and helped us decide on the BLT salad and the seared ahi stack which didn’t disappoint. Thank you, Jessie, for making our last night on our trip a fun one which we will we never forget! You are fabulous and we want to come back next year because of you. Thank you so much making our last night in San Diego so fun!

My wife and I went there on a Thursday night. The good part was the restaurant itself. Upscale place with a stunning view. The service was great and the cocktails were well done. The not so good part was the food. I’d only give it a B- at best, which when you consider the price, isn’t so great. My wife had the Sea Bass which was supposed to be a filet but was absolutely full of bones. So many bones that she gave up trying to eat it. I had the surf-and-turf which was filet mignon and lobster tail. It was just okay. The lobster was decent but the filet was just not very flavorful. I don’t mind paying top dollar for an upscale dining experience. This place missed the mark.

Amazing place for dinner with a view. The views are amazing - the inside room is right on the water. We did a group pre set dinner - which had a lot of courses and every one was delicious - from the hors d'oeuvres, to the huge castle shaped bread, to of course the steak and dessert (which was the highlight). It's an upscale place but worth it

This restaurant was a little pricey for what we usually like but it was highly recommended and so we went for it. We were told it was a great place for seafood but our server told us it is best known for its steaks. I can see why. I went with the filet trio, three cuts of beautifully tender beef each topped differently. I would definitely recommend this choice as it was to die for. My wife ordered hazelnut crusted scallops, opting for the seafood route and although she liked it, her pleasure level did not come anywhere near mine. If you want to spend a little more on dinner this is a great option.

This restaurant is luxurious, delicious and don't get me started with the amazing view. My husband and I love going here for special occasions and we often bring friends after church. 100% recommend.

My family visited Island Prime to celebrate my sister's 40th wedding anniversary with a delicious meal. As there were 13 of us at the table, we must have tried all of the appetizers and several of the entrees with sides. Everything was perfect. The service was impeccable and the servers were attentive but not hovering. I would recommend this lovely location for dinner, drinks or any special event.

This is a case of the emperors new clothes!!!! The one good thing I have to say is that the view is wonderful, the food.... not at all. First let me say, that this is the third time i have been to this restaurant and the third time I have been significantly disappointed. We only returned at the request of a member in my party. Among the 4 dishes that we got there was not 1 that we thought was good, over salted, over cooked and beyond reasonable regarding the price even for a high end restaurant. The popovers were delicious, but onecant make a meal out of them. With hundreds of restaurants to choose from, I would go elsewhere.

Awesome seating and view, awesome dinner and service. Seabass and chicken were delucious. View to the city and harbor during sunset so beautiful

We celebrated a birthday at Island Prime and it was great! The food and service are solid. I just wish the view of San Diego was accessible from the dining room we were seated in. The San Diego Restaurant Week menu was quite nice.

Reservation was 7pm and was seated around 7.15pm. The problem was the booth seating. We were only 3 people and she seated us in a booth for 6 and also with no view of the water - that's why you come here and pay $$$ We asked to be moved to one of the several open booths facing the water and the "new" girl said she needed permission to move us. We did. One of our guests is GF - celiac and so we asked for GF bread. It came but was stale and dried out. The regular bread rolls are highly unusual and are more like a puffed Yorkshire pudding, not really bread. Anyhow, we ordered shared appetizers of calamari - small portion and tuna stack - very nice. Followed by some steak, more tuna and fish of the day. Everything was good, but just good. We had 2 drinks, 3 meals - $400 with tax and tip.

My wife and I have been regular and frequent customers since Island Prime opened a dozen of so years ago. Our most recent visit, a few weeks ago, was excellent as always. The wait staff was prompt, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Food was hot, prepared perfectly, and delicious. Plus you have stunning views of sailboats, party boats, tankers, etc.. My wife and I agree, if you can't be in Venice, Italy, dining nn the Lagoon, then you should be at Island Prime dining on SD Bay.

Wow wow wow Last meal of our San Diego trio and we wasn’t disappointed one iota!!! The place was busy and we were told a 45 minute wait but the maitre de sat us down within ten minutes and we were at a lovely seat overlooking the bay!! The sherry lobster bisque was divine and the king crab legs and jumbo white shrimp were on point being some of the best I’ve eaten in the states. The waiter was absolutely one of the best we have encountered on this trip and was tipped well accordingly for his amazing local knowledge of the area and serving. He even comped our desserts due to being 15 minutes which we wouldn’t of minded as we had such a lovely view!! Will 100% return when visit in December, but pry not be seated outside 😎

Sit outside if you can, it’s gorgeous. The view is one of the best around. I have had a couple of different entrees here, but my favorite thing to order is their crab Louie salad. Very tasty! Service can be slow at times.

Dining in the Twilight Zone. My wife and I were celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary. As luck would have it, this experience was memorable for all the wrong reasons. We were seated at a table for two with a nice view. After we were seated, we sat for 15 to 20 minutes or so with only water on the table. Nobody from the wait staff stopped at the table to take drink orders, review the menu options etc. even though they repeatedly passed by our table. It was apparent that our table was not on anyone's radar. Concurrently, other (white) parties were seated at tables near us and promptly visited by wait staff. I had to go to the hostess station to bring attention to the issue. When a waiter (Ish?) finally came to our table, there wasn't much contrition shown regarding our experience to that point. When our orders were delivered, it happened piecemeal. I ordered a glass of wine that wasn't delivered with the meal. I had to make a second request. It arrived when I had consumed about half the steak. I didn't want it to get cold. I requested salt and pepper for my baked potato. I had to ask a second time. By the time I got the salt and pepper I had already eaten half the potato, otherwise it would have gotten cold. They also had a hissy fit accepting the Open table reward I presented, so we got to pay full price for one of the sorriest upscale dining experiences we've had in a long time given that this is a coveted Cohn restaurant. At one point a person who could have been a manager came by to acknowledge our anniversary but did not mention or apologize for the experience we had. To top it all off, not one cent of the meal was comped by the restaurant. Our experience was reflected in the tip - one of the few options left to exercise. This has been a restaurant that we've been to numerous times before with experiences at the opposite end of the spectrum. Lots of other dining options in San Diego so we'll be exploring those options during future visits to SD.

4 of us went to Island Prime - one of us came away happy. 3 of us had the lamb chops which were served on pomegranate tabouleh. 2 of us asked for medium rare but found it over-cooked - and fatty. The sides were huge - the largest potato in captivity was baked and stuffed with cream; the sprouts were legion but very good; the garlic fries were very good. The main complaint here is that we were not told we didn't really need sides given that sides were already supplied. My wife, the happy one, chose lobster bisque followed by scallops - delicious. My appetizer of grilled oysters was good also. Maybe I have a bias against steak houses in general, maybe I should have beef but my body and my wallet felt mauled at the end.

What a gem! This lovely restaurant with the best view of the bay was first-rate through and through. The service, the special unexpected treat of popovers, and the food that was all done to perfection, made it a perfect night.

tried salmon & coconut shrimp. both were delicious. amazing ambience just beside the sea. serving time was decent.

The views, food and service are all incredible! I had a filet and it was excellent. The temperature was as ordered. Our server was attentive yet gave us enough time to catch up and talk. The oysters were fantastic for a starter. Mashed potatoes were a nice surprise! Highly recommend but it is expensive!

The service was excellent, I like a lot the food, it was delicious and I like a lot the location because you can see the sea.

Great location, good service. Food was good as were the drinks. On the pricely side. We had super Mai Tai's, amazing BLT with Lobster Bisque. Tuna melts so huge, you should share. Good time, pricey $200 for 4 for lunch, but a treat especially if you have time to kill before the airport

Wow! Delicious food. Gorgeous setting. Incredible service. Admirably managed. I was especially impressed with the intelligence and graciousness of the general manager Jeff!

I brought a business associate here to celebrate a few milestones we achieved. We had a magnificent view of the city and the food was imaginative and delicious. A few highlights; the Popovers, Brie, and filet trio. Enrique was awesome- he went above and beyond to make our meal special.

We arrived early in the evening and were seated at a nice window table. Enjoyed cocktails and well prepared salmon, ahi tower and butternut squash. And the valet was only $7. All good ... then I noticed a 4% addition to my bill with a footnote saying it was to cover increasing costs — REALLY! This should be added to the food cost ... not another tax — and see if you’ll notice. Used to just add 20% to total bill (including tax) for great service BUT not a restaurant that does this! From a 4 star down to a 3 star.

I would have given Island Prime 5 stars, but I knocked it down one star because our filets were improperly cooked. My daughter and I asked for medium, and both of them were medium rare at best. We should have sent them back, but we didn't want to wait while my husband ate his meal. So, we just smothered them in the delicious cognac peppercorn sauce! Otherwise, the meal and setting were fantastic. The location on the water is lovely, and the service was very good. The popovers and lobster bisque were delicious, and our filets were tender. We ordered the brussels sprouts as a side, and it was more than enough for the three of us. We were so full that we skipped dessert! Parking was also convenient, either via valet or self-parking.

to cover new minimum wage law notice was printed on the menus. Prices are high but if you go during happy hour you will save alot. Patio is fantastic for weather and views. Service was attentive.

We went to this restaurant to celebrate our friend's graduation. There is a casual side of the restaurant called the C-level, which has a deck right over the water. The view is gorgeous. The sea breeze is cool and refreshing for a hot summer day. The food is slightly high priced but a bargain comparing to the formal side. The view is worth a million dollars. I had a fresh halibut over a bed of spinach, and my wife had the spicy skirt steak salad, both are perfectly cooked. The place is very popular. They do not take reservations except on major holidays. Self-parking is limited. Valet parking costs $7 plus tips. So go there early, preferably at 5 pm. Otherwise, the wait can be long.

I went to this place with two old friends and we had a nice time. We had a table outside overlooking the harbor. It was beautiful. My friend and I had fish and chips and our other friend had a lobster BLT. Everything was good!

Who could ask for more! The lobster bisque was unbelievably tasty and the scallops were out of this world. Great wine pairing selection and service was top notch! Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

While waiting to take our flight home, we found this neat spot. Our lunch was so good and the view perfect. I especially enjoyed the Thai Bowl with a glass of white wine. The waitress was very friendly and full of energy. All around excellent experience. Island Prime will be our 1st stop next time.

We visited Island Prime several years ago and were not as impressed as we expected to be, however, this week we returned to celebrate our anniversary. It was really a wonderful and perfect experience, and I want to call that out. Yes, it is a fine dining restaurant, so it is pricey, but perfect for special occasions and for having a nice, leisurely meal with your favorite people. The service is excellent, from the hostesses at the front desk, to the gentlemen who attended to us throughout the night, to the manager who stopped by our table to check on us. Our server, Enrique, was the perfect combination of friendly, personable, professional, efficient and just...cool!! We had the Lobster Bisque, Squash Salad, Filet with Bearnaise sauce, Pork Chop, Twice Baked Potato, and Blueberry Brulee for dessert, as well as a complimentary Pear Cobbler from the restaurant for our anniversary. Even my latte was photo-worthy! Not only is the view of downtown spectacular, but the noise level of the restaurant was low enough so that you could have a pleasant conversation without yelling over noise or music; love that! Our many thanks to the staff of Island Prime for giving us such a great experience to celebrate our special day!

We walked in without a reservation at 4:30 pm and were given a table for 3 with a dramatic view of the San Diego skyline as the sun went down and the city lights came on. The lobster bisque was delicious. We had 3 kinds of crème Brule for dessert. Island Prime combines reliably delicious food with an spectacular view of the San Diego skyline.
Island Prime Restaurant
I visited this awesome restaurant with a friend for a delicious lunch. The restaurant is on the waterfront in San Diego, with nice views, great service and food. The seafood is fresh and presentation is great. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will return to dine again.
