I’ve been going to Island Soul for many years, dating back to when they were Casualitas and I fully support this little neighborhood restaurant. It’s small and the servers are friendly and the food is tasty. I recommend getting some Calypso wings to try. They are an appetizer, but I order them with a salad and I have a meal. You’re going to want to try a a lot of things so either bring some friends and order a lot or come back til you’ve tried the entire menu. The flavors on those wings create a Caribbean festival, complete with steel drums, in your mouth. The sweet, sticky, spicy sauce makes me want to be alone so I can just lick my fingers after. LOL! Jerk chicken is good. I hear the oxtails are really delicious. Gumbo is good. Theo, the owner, is the best! He’s warm, friendly and always has a smile on his face. It gives me a feeling of home because I grew up in the area.

My husband's entree. oxtail stew, had just a few forksful of meat,. When he commented that fact to our waitress, she shrugged her shoulders. The rice and peas in coconut that accompanied all three entrees was, in fact, flavorless rice and beans. The other two entrees were both chicken curry, ample meat but - flavorless! Our shared appetizer, fried plantains, were a success. The three of us agreed that we will not return. Our conclusion: High prices for uninspired food! The restaurant could also use some sound baffles. We three sat at the front window, far from the kitchen in back. We could hear the chefs chopping, sounding as if were sitting by the kitchen door. Also, guests voices bounced as well. This evening out was not one of our better experiences.

Amazing customer service!! They're super family oriented.. That jerk chicken though orgasmic is the best word to describe it! This is for sure my fav place in Columbia City & a must go. The vibe & atmosphere is everything. It is decently priced & they have good happy hour here. Love the music that they play also. The salad w/ jerk chicken is seriously the best salad I have ever had! Mac & cheese is delish. Bartenders are always super friendly & fast even when busy.. this place is usually full but worth the wait if there is one!

Coming from the Southeast...finding a restaurant that has SEASONED soul food is few and far between in the Northwest! The food was very good! My husband and I have been twice. The sweet tea was southern sweet tea..the macaroni and cheese was very flavorful with a rich texture. The chicken tasted as if it was marinated to perfection! yum!!

There's a friendly staff in this bustling Caribbean soul restaurant. However, the times I've been here the dishes are "too" something... too salty, too sweet, too saucy, etc. I chalk this up to a lot of the food being held in steam trays in the back where it sits out and the tastes condense. On my latest visit, the Collard Greens were both too salty and sweet. They sat mostly uneaten at my table and our neighbor's. The Oxtail Stew had quite a few shards of bone in it. I don't know why - I make oxtails all the time. The only way this would happen is if they were trying to make the large bones smaller portions. This made it unpleasant to eat and the sauce was congealed and rather salty. Add "too expensive" to my list of toos ($50 for 2 drinks, jerk chicken and oxtail stew) and I can't really recommend it.

The food here is always delicious. I had the jerk chicken. It was spicy, flavorful and had the wonderful jerk flavor that I haven't had since my trip to Jamaica. My husband had the barbecues ribs, which of course I sampled. Again, delicious. But the side dish I can't get enough of are the corn muffins. They are cooked with coconut and are so good. However, if you order a soft drink, you only get a can so no refills. Also, I ordered a glass of Chardonnay which was good, but I didn't expect to pay $9.00 for a glass of wine. Other than that, the food is great and the staff was friendly.

I love this restaurant - it has a neighborhood vibe with amazing food. I will drive to Island Soul just for the collard greens alone. However - the selection of yumminess just gets better with everything I've tried. Today it was the gumbo with a side of the coconut cornmeal muffins. And jerk chicken for him. Couldn't resist and asked for a side of mac and cheese. YES! So happy after eating here.

Before I get to the food, first I have to say the atmosphere and decor of this place is so perfect. Loud colors and beautiful paintings in just the right amount. I couldn't stop looking around and just wishing I was actually sitting on the beach in the Caribbean! And then came the food and I knew I was in love! I had jerk chicken with rice and beans and my boyfriend had the jerk ribs. So unbelievably good! Our server made sure we ordered some corn bread and I now know why! Its coconut corn bread and is so sweet that its a perfect compliment to the spicy food. We even ordered more! I just wish this place was next door to my house and not in Seattle!

My daughter first introduced me to this gem in the Seattle neighborhood of Columbia City. Island Soul is just that! Soul (comfort ) food of the Island. I ordered the oxtail stew on my most recent visit, at lunch time. Great flavor and seasoning. Fall off the bone tenderness. Just good food! The service was "laid back Island" just as I experienced in the Bahamas, which was fine with me. My group was not there a hurried experience, but to savor the feeling of being far away for just a few moments.

As a former restaurant owner in St. Lucia, this is the place I must go to when I am craving some island food. The oxtail stew, the coconut cornbread muffins, the wings and spicy prawns are all right on point. The staff is super friendly, and the price is very reasonable. One of my favorite places in Seattle.

We went to Island Soul last weekend as we were in Columbia City anyway. They were in the Entertainment Book. We really enjoyed it. The food tasted authentic Caribbean fare and all fresh tasting. The price was right and the service was good. Will definitely be back.

A rainy fall Saturday afternoon was a great time for my inaugural visit to Island Soul. I loved sitting by the window watching both the leaves and the locals while we sipped our sorrels and considered the vast menu. I'm not an especially fond of meat, but the oxtail stew is TO DIE FOR. I truly appreciated that the veggies and sides were not seasoned with pork. Would've loved to try more items but the tapas portion was more than enough (and I'm no lightweight;). The Island Soul experience was the beginning of a wonderful Seattle weekend. I'll definitely spread the word!

Went early to dinner, in order to insure a parking place on the street in busy Columbia City. Managed to get a booth table inside with no waiting time. Service was outstanding, even during the crush of Happy Hour (until 6 p.m.). Nice menu of Jamaican choices. We split Jerk Chicken tacos (slightly spicy and very tasty), Seasonal Vegetable Medley Saute (excellent!), Tostones (fried green plantains with veggie toppings) and Coconut Corn Muffins (2 very yummy items per order). It was just the right amount of food for the two of us. I enjoyed a nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc wine to accompany my portions. I love the vibe of this restaurant and will definitely return to enjoy other notable items on this very diverse, authentic menu.

I understand if you can't make it to Jamaica. But if you love Jamaican cuisine, you have to check this place out. It's a few miles from downtown but well worth the drive. It has an urban vibe but the food and the flavors are all Caribbean! We had a bunch of selections from the menu and each dish was fantastic. Starting with the Calypso Chicken Wings slathered in a mango honey sauce, everything we ate kept us wanting more. The Collard Greens, BBQ Chicken, Hushpuppies, and fried Plantains all hit the mark. I thought we were back at the resort in Ocho Rios! And oh, you can't leave without having a slice of the German Chocolate Cake!

The rich flavors of jerk chicken and goat curry were more than i could have ever wanted. I feel like every single item was better than the next, full of unique satisfying flavors. Perfect level for someone who loves spicy. My new favorite.

there's now a huge tent for outdoor dining (right on Rainier Ave.. what possibly could go wrong :-) excellent and varied offerings from the Creole and Southern traditions. Oxtails are to die for, as were the Jambalya and Gumbo items.. Great cocktail offerings as well! We WILL return.

One big draw of this place is the ability to order many of the menu items as tapas portions. This lets diners share, mix and match and not commit themselves to just one dish when there are so many good ones to choose from. The food is unusual and interesting but there are standards for the less adventurous. The service was a bit slow, but worth the wait. Recommended.

This is a very fun place to visit for cocktails or dinner. Lots of variety in terms of Caribbean food and everything I have had there is very good. I love the chicken curry, black beans and smashed yams.

I was visiting my son and he brought me here. We happened to get the last available table, its small and a little noisy but wow is the food good! We tried several appetizers and each had its own unique flavor profile, nothing was overly spicy but all of it was amazing. We tried the curry mussels, the garlic shrimp and the wings. Then we shared an order of the jerk chicken. Definitely will remember this for my next trip.

I love going to Columbia City, but don't make it too often. After walking by this place and wondering what it was like, I finally came in for lunch. The tables were full but there were spaces at the bar. I worried a bit that I would be pressured to order a drink but I noticed most of us at the bar were having non-alcoholic drinks. The service was quick and friendly. I was surprised that the prices were so modest. I ordered the Rasta bowl, potatoes, onions, peppers, eggs and hot beef link (you have a choice of meat) with toast. It was very good, not too much but hearty. Another day and I would have ordered a hibiscus mimosa, their bar and drink menu look amazing. The other dishes I saw going out looked good too. Next time I will get biscuits and cheesy grits.

This place is great. The ambiance (deco/music) is great, the staff friendly, the food is incredible. We ate from the brunch menu on a Saturday and the yam and pork belly hash with perfectly cooked eggs was a home run. The others I came with loved their meals as well. The coffee is also really good. The only reason this isn't a 5 star is because we waited over 10 minutes to be greeted with menus or water, and then we waited another 10-15 to get our order in. However, the food came super fast once we ordered. I'd say it's totally worth any wait.

The food is very tasty (seafood fritters were our favorite). Menu has a variety of interesting choices. The service is great, friendly and helpful. They also have some interesting cocktails. Enjoy!

I rely on Yelp and it, along with a personal recommendation took us to Island Soul for takeout. Callin in out takeout order helped as they were very busy. Our appetizers were seafood fritters and little islands. The fritters were good. We had curried chicken, curried goat and jerk chicken, along with rice and peas. Food was more expensive than we pay on the east coast but Seattle is overall expensive. We usually get another "veg." such as plaintains or cabbage included at our West Indian restaurants but no worries. Food was good. German chocolate cake was delicious.

If you are going here for brunch save your time and your money. The service was sub par and the place wasn't even crowded yet we got there at 10:30 a.m. I have had good food there for dinner so maybe we picked an "Off" day. I decided to meet a friend there for brunch. Both of us being Caribbean 1 Jamaican and 1 Trini we had very high expectations and none were met. I was very shocked to not see a traditional Jamaican breakfast of Ackee and Saltfish on the menu. What Jamaican restaurant doesn't have the "national dish" on the menu? Toast came with our dishes but the toast took a good 15 minutes. It is toast come on! We had to ask our waiter where our toast was and then 5 minutes after that we asked someone else. The chef actually brought it out to us and was apologetic but honestly by that time we were so far into our meals that it was garnish. I had the Catfish and Cheese grits they were very good(yay). The kicker though was that our condiments were disappearing. A waitress came over and grabbed our ketchup off our table filled up a little to go container then put it back on the table like we weren't even there. Our waiter came and asked us if we were using our syrup which we weren't so he took that for another table. I understand that it happens but just take the whole condiment caddy don't piece it out. Then our water bottle was "transferred" to the 4 top 2 tables away(that is sketchy) we could have drank out of it and just replaced the cap. YUCK That is not sanitary. The resounding comment at the table was "We should have gone to Denny's".

Seattle really needs a good Caribbean eatery and this may be it. We ordered the Oxtail Soup and the Chicken Curry with sides of cole slaw, beans and rice, and collard greens plus a starter of hush puppies. Starting with the sides, all were good especially the greens. The beans and rice were a little dry but still good. Hush Puppies were done perfectly. My Curry was excellent and a contributing factor was that it was not super hot/spicy. My wife's Oxtail Soup was very good, but being from the West Indies, was not as good as home made. The Sorrel was excellent. All in all, a very good dinner and the service was excellent.

I lucked up on this place and this quaint section of Seattle while out site-seeing. It was so much more than I expected! The food was great, the portions were healthy and the service was excellent!! I can't wait to go back to visit my son and his family and venture out again. This place is on my list.

I went to Island Soul today after messaging a friend on fbook and asking for a good soul food restaurant. I travel from work and am from the East Coast. I have yet to find a Caribbean or soul food restaurant. The food is really good. I had the curry goat with basmati rice and mac&cheese. The mac&cheese has some type of herb in it and trust me you'll want to try it!! The curry goat tastes just the way my father makes it, delicious! Definitely try this restaurant if you want a mix of soul food and Caribbean in one.

I love this place for meeting friends or just slipping away for lunch by myself on a busy day. I have tried just about everything and never been anything but delighted. Make you first visit outside of the busy hours and you will receive warm and generous treatment, just like a day in Bel Caribe. As more and more folks have heard of this place, it can get overcrowded on the weekend. Even so, the visit with my picky son and husband turned out to be awesome. Goat curry is a favorite, and the plantains are fab.

Exceptional dining experience! Quaint, cozy room; amazing taste experience. Oxtail stew worthy of the hype. Service a little slow, but friendly and knowledgeable staff who nailed the descriptions of their food. Amazing curry and BBQ. Unique cafe worthy of a trip to the Columbia City neighborhood.

It was a my birthday weekend. We went out on the limb and try this restaurant. It didn’t let us down. The tostones are to die for. Make sure you include this in your meal. BTW the lazy iguana is on point also. This restaurant might just replace our regular Caribbean restaurant in the Seattle area. We enjoyed the food and made plans to visit again before we even leave.

This place was close to the place we stayed. We chose it from their diverse menu. We got it to go and it was ready in about 15 minutes. The food was good and had some nice spice.

I first went to Island Soul when it opened years ago and loved it. I hadn't been back since a couple of years before Covid. It was a lovely, local feeling place with a Carribean feel. The sons of the original owner have kept most of the food but turned it into a same-old, same-old noisy pub type place. Not a spec of Carribean soul. At least six big screen TVs showing sports. The background music wasn't turned up too high, but the crowds and reflective walls and ceilings overpowered any music. We had to shout across our table to be heard. Also, the seats are hard wooden benches. Very uncomfortable. As I said, the food was good and the portions very generous. We had two mains and one extra side for three adults. Bottom line: I'd happily take out food from Island Soul but never eat there inside again. Outside might be OK when it's warmer.

I loved this restaurant which we tried because it was in my old neighborhood in Columbia City AND because I bought a Best of Seattle coupon to use at the restaurant. The food was great; fried plantains, collard greens, shrimp in a coconut sauce and ribs were our picks. We had plenty to eat and brought some home to feed us again another meal. WE also brought home a slice of coconut cream cake from Sugar Crush Cakes that was delicious. There is a fun bar menu to go with Happy Hour and music from time to time too.

This was a wonderful experience, delicious food, mellow atmosphere and the staff were great they accommodated our big group as best they could. I must say this venue is not very big but it is worth the wait.

We went to karaoke on Thursday and it was so fun, I would tell the hosts not to take as many breaks so it won’t take forever for them to go through the list. The drink specials were great my friend got the jerk tacos and she said they were horrible. She couldn’t even eat it.

Although crowded this was truly the best food experience I had in Seattle. For a moment you feel as though you were in the Caribbean. There was some very good live entertainment and the service was excellent. The food is amazing and we sampled serveral items that were lipsmacking good. Our favorite were the coconut muffins and oxtail soup with rice. This is not in the tourism district but worth the trip over. Bravo to Island Soul.

Island Soul is a great brunch option on a Sunday. It opens at 10 am so it wasn't crowded yet as some of the other brunch places in Columbia City. The atmosphere is nice with a huge painting of Bob Marley. Reggae music playing softly so you could actually enjoy a conversation. Wait staff was attentive and our food was brought quickly. The scrambled bowl was delicious with lots of flavor. If you can't decide on savory or sweet, try the French toast with two eggs and two pieces of bacon. Proportions are generous and coffee refilled several times. Price is fair. I'm glad Geraldine's was too crowded, it gave us the option to try Island Soul. We will return.

Parking may be an issue but the folks and menu make it worthwhile. This restaurant is located in the most diverse zip code in the US. So everyone feels at home and everyone is welcome. Not a huge restaurant but the menu includes Caribbean dishes and Jamaican beer. I love the jerk chicken and the fried catfish. Prices are reasonable the TV's are big enough if you want to watch the game. Take your significant other to the movies across the street and then head to dinner. It's all fun.

I had the chicken and waffles and it was excellent! My girlfriend said the grits were not the best she has ever had though. Under seasoned and a somewhat small portion. Otherwise it is an awesome place to eat in South Seattle. Worth going out of the way for if you like Island/Soul food. Right near the 7 bus line too.

Flavorful food however inside seating is very small an service could be improved by waiters. A lovely bartender helped with our order while many waitresses passed us by.

First time here, AMAZING southern food. I was with 4 others and we all ordered different things off the menu - ALL of us loved our food! It is a little noisy and cramped but definitely worth it! I will be back!

I have travelled all four corners of the US and have visited Seattle many times; I have always wanted to try this place. Firstly, it did not disappoint in any way! As a big fan of Caribbean cuisine, I can say the food is top notch. The service is great also! A must for any foodies visiting Seattle!

This was our second visit and as always we greatly enjoyed the food. We ordered fried catfish with greens and rice and red beans in coconut milk, gumbo with basmati rice and fried plantain. Everything was good except, I wouldn't order basmati rice again, it was too plain. The greens was cooked to perfection, the fried catfish was moist and gumbo was delicious but slightly spicy to my liking. The fried plantain complimented the whole meal and drinking ginger beer to wash it all down was satisfying. I will come back again and I highly recommend this place.

First off, if you are staying downtown and don't have a car, take light rail south to Columbia City station. Walk about 4 blocks east to Rainier Ave, turn right and about mid block is Island Soul. So... no excuses. I've gotten to know the family that owns and runs Island Soul over the last few years and come as much for them as the food, though don't get me wrong the food is fantastic. The restaurant is not big and gets crowded around Happy Hour and early dinner particularly on Friday and Sat. They do not take reservations. This is a local neighborhood restaurant so you'll see lots of regulars at the bar (if you can get a seat). Their fare is a combo of Louisianian and Jamaican, Theo, the owner grew up in Alexandria LA. The best thing for me to do is offer my favorites in no particular order though I almost always order the seafood fritters. My other favorites are the catfish, seafood gumbo, jerk chicken or ribs, cornbread, hush puppies and oxtail stew. They have quite a number of other menu items and from all accounts they are all great. Now for the bar! If you go later in the week, Marcus should be holding forth, behind the bar. He takes great pride in his creativity and will gladly concoct something for you so be sure to ask. They have a great rum selection. So their you have it. If you can plan ahead and be there on Fat Tuesday you,ll get music and a parade.

I work at a " Caribbean restaurant " in Nashville but this place was amazing. The ribs were heavenly the beans and greens delicious and the muscles...... # OMG. This is a must #must place to go.

On a cool street in Seattle suburb but having come from South London, this was pretty average Caribbean food

We went on a Saturday night at 6 pm - lucky only had to wait 20 minutes for a table for 4. All the food was delicious - especially the Vapata. We shared some appetizers and split one order of the Gumbo and one of the Vapata. Plenty of food - the entree portions were quite large. The staff was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere fun and vibrant. We will definitely come back.

The ambiance is great. I love eating at places with a diverse clientele. Awesome artwork & color scheme. Phenomenal food. I think a server called in sick the day I visited so service was very slow. I had calypso chicken wings, coconut corn muffins and a beef and a chicken patty. My friend had the habanero prawns, collard greens and some type of tacos. Every dish was flavorful and we had food to take home. I will visit again the next time I am in Seattle. 😀

i found the food to be very tasty, lots of choices and the seating is just a little tight if you sit at a table, they have split the bar from the dinning area which is good.

Looking for food on Sunday morning and heard this restaurant advertised on the radio. Glad we stopped by. We were greeted warmly. We had chicken and waffles and catfish with cheesy grits. Both entrees were cooked well. The food was seasoned beautifully. We added a side of shrimp and they were succulent and tasty. The cocktails were very good. Bloody Mary is spicy and refreshing. The mojito was crisp and good. Louisa provided tremendous service. She is versed on menu items. She checked on us and kept food coming. The restaurant is clean and modern. There are lots of TVs so we could check out games. The bar is provisioned with many island favorites. Entrees are reasonably priced. The restaurant had a good vibe and diverse customer base. Parking is limited to the street. It is a busy area with shops and other businesses. It was a great way to spend a Sunday morning.

In our ongoing effort to experience a variety of cuisines, we had lunch at this place on a mild afternoon in late September, 2011. I ordered the Jerk pork spare ribs, my companion ordered the curry chicken, and we sat back and waited for the food to arrive. Over the next thirty minutes, other customers arrived and some of them received their food before our waiter informed us that there was no curry chicken. When we changed the order to jerk chicken, our plates were delivered pronto. The chicken was somewhat dried out, but my pork ribs were tender--if a bit too fatty. Both plates were served with a salad and red beans and rice cooked in coconut milk, which was not as tasty a side dish as we had anticipated. The room is pleasant and there was reggae music in the background, but it was drummed out by the noise of trucks and other traffic coming though a door propped open to the street. Our waiter was a pleasant young man who had not yet learned how to do two things at once, and there was an attractive woman floating around the room, sipping a beverage, but doing nothing to make things run more smoothly. We were annoyed that it took over a half hour to serve us food that had been fully cooked long before we walked in the door. While the food was o.k., it wasn't special enough for us to again drive six miles, scramble for a parking place, and wait an unreasonable length of time for it to be brought from the kitchen to our table.

Was here recently with a friend for a late lunch / early dinner. She had recommended that we go based on her experience on a previous visit. The restaurant is nice and bright and beyond well maintained. Really pleasant. The service was friendly and attentive as well. The menu was diverse with an number of interesting things, all Caribbean / Cajun in nature. On my friend's recommendation, I had the Chicken and Waffles. I prefer Buttermilk waffles, so I wasn't thrilled about the wheat / pecan style, but I could tell they were good (good food tastes like good food, even when it isn't food that you particularly enjoy). The chicken however - wow, most excellent! The menu (and my friend) says that they actually use hens instead of chickens. Whatever...what I know was that it was REALLY flavorful. When I say this, I mean the chicken meat itself...not just the seasoning (which was also great). The chicken by itself was much more than worth the trip. In addition to my chicken and waffles I also had a Bloody Mary which was quite tasty (spicy, the way I like them!) In summary, Island Soul is a definite repeat. Good food, good service in a good environment at a fair price. Isn't that what we are all looking for in a casual restaurant??

So this place! I felt instantly comfy, like I was with my peeps! People of all races and walks of life, all of whom felt like they were safe and understanding. Great food! Pick an item and chow down. If you are a yuppie, stay away...no one there likes you in any way. If you wanna place to eat and connect without pretention? GIT YER BUTT DOWN THERE! Such great servers, the barkeep looked WAY cool and it was just a good place. I had chicken and waffles...didn't need to eat the rest of the day! <3

We hit the place for Happy Hour and we enjoyed a table full of fun tastes. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the chicken and waffles, because the chicken was double fried and found it too well done and over crispy. But, we had fun.

Eating at Island Soul in Columbia City should be something to write about. But, to write about the experience you must tell the truth: The food is great! The staff's ability to provide even acceptable customer service is a non-existent reality! We went for happy hour. Three or four tables at most were filled. First server was quick to the table, but then disappeared. The second server appeared, only to walk away as we were asking him to take our drink order? The women at the table next to us were so loud, we had to move across the restaurant. That small action, even though we notified our server, caused the food we ordered to be delivered to an empty table! No person came to our table, once we were served our food, to check and see if things were going well. When we wanted another drink, we had to stand up and wave our hands to get someone's attention. When it was time to leave (read: when we could stand this no longer!), I had to walk to the bar area to get someone to bring us our check. Maybe Island Soul offers take out? If they do, perhaps we'll be back again?

I had been waiting to try out this restaurant for years. kept hearing it advertised on AM 1560 I and my husband both had catfish,greens,mac-n-cheese, yams and greens - yummo I will be going there again soon to try thr oxtails!

Awesome comfort brunch for a great price in Seattle. Seattle is beautiful during the right months. Brunch is very expensive where it is served. Island Soul offers a tasty brunch in a vibrant location that will not make you choke on the price. A plus on taste of catfish and grits.

My wife and I went for lunch. We had the chicken and the goat curry with soul slaw, Cuban black beans and corn muffins. The flavours and spice were great. The black beans had taste with zip. The restaurant had good local beer on tap, went ell with the spice. The service was slow at times but we weren't in a rush and the waitresses were very friendly and helpful.

We've gone to this restaurant a few times, the last was only for drinks and appetizers. The food is always good and this was the first time I tried a different cocktail. I must say, it was a very good cocktail and I'm actually craving to try it again. The food is reasonable and tasty and the atmosphere good. The only complaint I have is that we wanted to stop by again for drinks, but there was live music which was a bit too loud to sit and enjoy another drink.

If you like spicy habanero flavor, this is the place to go. The food is a little over-priced in my opinion, but for a date night or if you don't go out often it's worth it. The sides are all good, and the chicken and ribs are also very tasty. We especially like the Habanero spicy hot wings, we just wish you would get more for the price! They also close kind of early so check before you go

So I decided to take my family to island soul for the first time . Being very familiar with island food I did not know what to expect.when you first walk in you hear great island music and smell wonderful island spices . I was welcomed by a wonderful young lady who was very upbeat and gave off amazing energy that was awesome. We tried all the favorites from curry goat to jerk chicken and everything in between . They have a plate well multiple plates for 28 let's call it a sampler it's amazing has everything and the portions are huge easily enough for two very hungry people and I eat a lot in general. So in my personal opinion Theo and family have an amazing restraint with great staff and great atmosphere . If you are in the Seattle area this is a must stop place .Very affordable

During a recent stay in Columbia City the last thing we expected to find was a genuine Caribbean Restaurant in the middle of this historic district of Seattle. Island Soul has a great bar, chill vibe and a diverse crowd. My husband enjoyed the southern friend hen and I absolutely loved vegetarian selections from their a la carte menu. Rice n peas, greens and their spicy shrimp tacos and festival bread, all worthy of a try. Sure, you have to eat in the Public Market district but don't sleep on this culinary gem!

Stopped by the restaurant for dinner and the food was great. We loved the area it was located and the atmosphere was really nice. There is a bar and a couple of TV'S

I have been here multiple times and I love e this place pick anything on the menu . They wont disappoint.. the best thing outside of food is theo and family which includes staff. So if you are in Seattle this is a must visit for all occasions
Soulfood so good, you'll come back for more
This is a great place for Happy hour which is served until 6pm. The appetizers are priced at a discount price but you have to order one alcoholic beverage. I always opt for the full dinner because I need my sides. What I love ordering here is the fried catfish with collard greens, black eyes peas. I also recommend the yams. But the 3 piece catfish dinner portion with one side is a lot of food for one person. I think it's meant to be shared. I also recommend their non alcoholic fresh ginger beer. It's so delicious and refreshing.
