I met my lady friends here for our meetup group (10 ladies) dinner. It was a Wednesday night, reservation for 5:30 and we were told we better not be late. They only have valet parking, but it is free and quick on the night we were there. We had a drink at the bar while we waited on our table. There were some tables inside that would seat 4 people, maybe a few seated 6. Since we had a large group and there was a photo shoot going on outside, we were left waiting in the tiny bar area until 6:00. A table of 10 had to be seated outside. A glass of wine on the happy hour menu was $6. Bartenders were not very helpful and not much of a smile. When we were seated we had a great waitress named Katy. She saved the initial bad feeling I had gotten from the place. She was very attentive, agreeable to do separate checks for 10 women, told us the story of how the restaurant got its start, and we were able to order off the happy hour menu which brought the price of a burger and fries down to $10 instead of $16. I got the burger, it was good. Some of the ladies got the steak and they said it was very good and tender. The roasted brussel sprouts were very good. Chris, one of the owners stopped by to see how we were doing. Very nice and young guy. I would go here again and would suggest it to a friend. They have an outdoor area out back that has the river in view. It is a nice place for pictures.

Five of us mowed through various breakfast offerings today, most of which were excellent. The beef-hash breakfast dish was really tops. Also good were the deviled eggs and chicken-fried steak and waffles. The grits were good, too. The scones and the cinnamon roll were ok. The coffee is excellent, being served with some kind of sweetened whipped cream or butter. This place is good for people-watching and has a commanding river view. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The complimentary, fast valet service is appreciated.

We had this huge urge for a really good burger so we indulged ourselves at Jacoby's for a pair of their renowned burgers ($16). Yep, they are a little pricy but they are large, very juicy and flavorful and come with a large pile of great fries. Yep, we were satisfied.

Jacoby's has been on my list of new restaurants to try in Austin. It is far east on Caesar Chavez and so not one of those places you just happen to pass by and decide to stop. It's a cute little building tucked away and they do have valet parking. When I walked inside I was instantly comfortable - the interior is charming and warm. We didn't have a reservation so could not get a table outside but were seated inside. It was fine but make a reservation and get a table outside because the back porch is lovely. The staff kept touting the river view but from what we could see when we went out ofter dinner it's not that easy to see the river - but it's green and lush and pleasant. My description that I got from the "must try" list said Jacoby's is Dressed up Southern Comfort food. That may be true - they have things like tiny cornbread muffins (they were sugary with no texture, I could make these better) and fried okra (which was delicious). However the entrees left us a little cold. There wasn't anything we were dying to try. A couple of the steaks were in the high $40's to $52. My husband tried the smoked 1/2 chicken and I tried the "Salsbury Steak". The chicken was ok. The potatoes with it were cold and in a sauce and not good at all. There was some charred okra with it. My husband said it was "ok." As they served me the Salsbury Steak I asked what cut of meat it was, thinking it would be pounded round steak or something similar - they said it was ground meat, the same as in the hamburger. I was ok with that - except it didn't taste like anything at all. Even adding salt didn't do much. It was on some mashed potatoes which were ok. We did order the fried okra on the side which tasted freshly fried and had a dipping sauce which was spicy and good. So far the only thing I loved was the okra. The service was great, the venu is very nice and appealing. If the food was fantastic you would see us there many times throughout the year. However, with the current menu - we probably won't go back.

We had a beautiful dinner a t Jacobys on our last night in Austin. We were taken here for dinner by our friend who is a local. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was just as good. The service was also top notch. We ate in the restaurant then moved out to the back area which overlooks the river. I I believe they have their own ranch which is where the meat is sourced from. I would recommend this place as a must try place when you are in Austin.

Food took way too long to arrive and was mediocre at best. Four in our party, 5 cocktails, 3 meat dishes and 1 Caesar salad with salmon cost us nearly $400. Why does anyone go to this place?

Naturally, chicken fried steak was on the menu - it was good but had a bit too much breading, but all of the entrees were well prepared and tasty. Great drink menu also. On the river but since it was dark, we couldn't see much.

My girlfriends and I came here to celebrate a birthday, and were lucky enough to come on a cool night. The appetizers we had were excellent, especially the macaroni and cheese (I am picky with mac!). Enjoy!

Very filling meal. No one could finish their entrees or desserts. Great flavors with fresh, local ingredients. Started with pimento cheese and onion rings which were good, but nothing extra special. Terrific shrimp and grits, though needing to peel part of the shrimp was awkward. Others enjoyed the pork chop and chicken. Good strawberry cake and peach cobbler, thought the banana pudding was odd and wasn't enjoyed by any of us. Nice cocktail selection. Neat atmosphere.

The menu is a bit smaller than most breakfast places, but there is something for everyone on it. The servings are generous, delicious and filling. My wife ordered the migas and was only able to eat about half the order it was so big. A little on the pricey side as our two meals with out any drinks was $45 with tip.

Jacoby's is in an interesting space with a mixture of indoor and outdoor tables. We elected to eat indoors because it was quieter. The menu is small, but everything we tried (grilled steak, pot pie, chicken fried steak, and the redfish special) was delicious. The wine list, like the menu, is limited, but the selections seem pretty good and reasonably priced. They have a good bar and nice cocktails. We didn't have time to explore the "mercantile" half of the venue, but it looked like there were some interesting gifty items on display.

Had dinner and drinks at Jacoby's with friends and really enjoyed it. they Have a fun variation on a Moscow mule everyone should try. Food was variations on traditional southern. Great outside patio area that was packed on this warm winter night!

Three people - one said his meal was very good, one said fine, if overdressed salad and the third said ugh, not good. You are now required to enter thru the gift shop, a very crowded space with overpriced stuff. It wasn't clear who was the host/hostess. She was snooty. There are love seats at all the tables along the wall. Mine was so horribly worn out it was very uncomfortable. Fortunately, there was a table with chairs to move to. No complaints about the waiter. Not too noisy at brunch - a welcome relief. Patio has misters and fans. Ya pays yer nickel, ya takes your chances.

Kind of funky with a old South aura. It's the kind of place that serves their drinks in Mason jars. Outside seating is nice when the weather is good. Unfortunately, the food was no more than average, and the service was hampered by extremely long time gaps between courses. I was excited to see but the pimento cheese appetizer, however the pimento cheese wasn't very tasty and was smothered in arugula which was distracting. The deviled eggs were nothing to write home about. The meatloaf, and they make a very big deal about how they grow their own beef and how wonderful it is, was of a small portion and not very hearty. The Brussels sprouts we're mostly burn leaves. My cousin left the chicken fried steak half eaten. Be mindful also that there is no nearby parking so you must valet. While there is no charge for the valet, it is an inconvenience if you have valuables in your car and certainly means you have to wait once you leave the restaurant after your meal. I would have loved to love this place, but it wasn't happening.

We went for a Sunday dinner, they were not full but there were a number of very noisy small children making it hard to hear or be heard. There were several special prices on regular items available for Sunday's that may have caused the day to be different than other days. I had the cheese burger with fry's. The burger was tasty but very wet, it was not wet with flavorful juices, more just oily. The fry's were tasty but not crisp, very limp. We also had the vegetarian meat loaf(same patty as used in the Vegetarian burger), tasty and enjoyable. We also had the vegetarian burger, and the limp fry's. This burger was better than the beef burger.

I was deceived by the outside, which hides a huge outdoor patio at the rear of the restaurant. It can seat probably 60 people, in some comfort. Dinner was family style plates, so everyone could taste or have what they wanted. We started with steak tartare and deviled egg (2 separate starters). This was followed by several mains: salad, hush puppies, steak, chicken, roasted carrots, mac & cheese, vegetarian meat loaf and shrimp with grits. Desert was mini-cup cake. All delicious, all first rate produce and everything cooked to perfection. Wines were good, without being pricey. Altogether an excellent experience and one to be repeated. The only draw-back is that the restaurant is quite a long way out of town, and in a town without Uber, that's less than easy. We had a party bus to take us, so in our case no problem. Enjoy great southern family cuisine.

Food and drinks were fantastic. Small inside but nice patio. all beef raised on their own property. patio is right on the colorado river with great views

This is a very attractive place with a large outdoor dining area overlooking a wild part of the Colorado River on the far east side of town. When we sat down we were handed a wad of papers which constituted our menu, a separate list of features and a separate list of happy hour items. The wine list is on the back of the menu. Of the six pieces of paper we were given, the happy hour list is the most important. It listed both drink and food specials that were in effect until 7:00 pm. This paper is important because it listed a red and white wine for $5/glass. That is important because their wine list is outrageously expensive. There is only one wine, a Texas Hill Country merlot, under $40, Fall Creek Merlot ($36). Of the 32 wines offered, I had only heard of two, and those were champagnes from the same producer. Twelve of the 32 bottles were $75 and above, five bottles were over $100; and that does not include the half-bottle of Perrier-Jouet Grand Brut champagne for $50. This kind of marketing either drives people like me away or runs them off by 7:00pm. The menu is an eclectic assortment of items with an odd assortment of prices, generally on the high side. A $16 cheeseburger and fries unfortunately seems to becoming the norm in Austin fine dining circles. But, $19 chicken fried steak or $25 for a smoked half chicken or $23 for grilled pork ribs? How about $24 shrimp and grits or $29 yellow fin tuna? $18 for stuffed Salisbury steak and mashed potatoes. Snacks were: $10 pickles and sausage, a $16 cheese plate, three deviled eggs for $6, smoked boudin blanc $10, $9 onion rings, yep $9 for onion rings. Pimento cheese for $8 and spinach and mushroom dumplings for $8. Specials were fried clams ($9) pork tenderloin ($29) and our steaks. Our special $38, 12 oz. flat iron steak was a la carte, but they threw on two roasted potatoes on top for looks I guess. The steak itself was properly done; it is quite a feat to cook a ½ inch thick piece of meat medium rare without it just being grey outside. I must admit it was tasty and quite tender. It just looked sad because it was cut so thinly. They must offer a lot of a la carte specials because: a) all of their side dishes are only offered family style; and b) everything on the regular menu already comes with sides of vegetables and/or starches. The waitstaff was informative, helpful and friendly. Just be sure you go during happy hour or you may not be happy.

This was, in fact, the best steak I'd had since returning from South America more than a year ago. The locally sourced grass-fed beef was incredibly tasty, with a subtle range of flavors you just don't get from most steak houses. We enjoyed dinner on the back porch including some delicious brussels sprouts and collards, and didn't break the bank on it. Highly recommended!

The restaurant “campus” is really unique. Multiple buildings and the main dining area has multiple rooms and themes, very kitschy. Service is friendly until… Took over 45 minutes to get our entrees and even though we asked for the meal more quickly, “on the fly” here means less slow and the staff does not like to be pressured. Food was good though. We would maybe go back if we didn’t have a flight to catch. Valet parking only, $6.

I was a bit concerned when we pulled up for the free valet service at Jacoby's restaurant. We went through a small interior to a very nice comfortable patio. You are looking down on the river and the banks are all green and lush. We had small cheeseburgers, chicken fried steak and vegetables. All the food we had was very good. I would rate it as above average for Austin restaurants. Nice place for a large group to eat, talk and generally relax.

Came here for brunch. Very busy - far more tables crammed into the space than appropriate. I found the menu to be rather uninspired. The smoke salmon plate, while good, was something I could achieve at home. My husband was pleased with the Big Salad. Personally, I thought it was overdressed. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits had a very odd texture that stayed very firm and chewy under the gravy. The gravy could only be called sausage gravy if you looked very hard for it. It was bland - again, I could have produced a better example at home. We teased each other that the secret recipe for the strawberry cake was a Duncan Hines box mix. Great Bloody Mary and nice porch seating. Service was perfectly acceptable. Be careful if you go to the restroom from the porch. It’s a narrow space between the walkway and the pass where the food comes out.

Make a reservation! We got stuck in an odd table but we were very happy to be seated as we didn't book ahead. The brunch was great, mimosas were on point too. The view from their garden is amazing as well.

Jacoby's has the potential to be a great restaurant. Unique. Good atmosphere. True farm/ranch to table concept. Exceptional beef. Perfect cocktails. Very good service. But it's hard to sit on a picnic bench for two hours; painful. And even harder to pay $75/pp to sit on a picnic bench. Rib eye was great, but needs more seasoning. Mac n cheese was tasteless. Braised greens were as good as I've ever had. Blackeyed peas were way too sweet. Wish they had a bite, or more pickled onion, or something other than sugar. Shrimp and grits were good. I didn't care for the cheese board. Gorgonzola was fine, but cheddar was too hard to cut. Ice cream should be Blue Bell. Dark chocolate brownie was good, as was the strawberry cake, but I could have skipped both. Burger was very good (beef was excellent), but needed more pizazz.

We went here for my friend’s bachelorette. The ambience and service were good, but the food was mediocre and overpriced. I had the stuffed chicken breast. It was not stuffed with anything and was extremely salty. Others in my group were also unsatisfied with their main courses.

We held our son's rehearsal dinner at Jacoby's and it was perfect. Rachel was a dream to work with. She made sure every detail was covered. The food was amazing, everyone just raved about how delicious it was. The cocktails were wonderful too. Kris did flower arrangements for the tables and they were so beautiful. It was so nice to not have to work with an outside florist. Our servers were great too. I would use them again for an event without any hesitation.

Had dinner here with friends I had not seen in over 25 years from West Texas. Very nice. Seated at a table inside ( thank goodness due to the heat ) but by the bar so sort of busy. Dinner was very good, not blow away good, but good and drinks nice - but slow in coming. Desserts were fantastic!

From the atmosphere, the view, and the food, everything was great! We shared the deviled eggs, my husband had chicken fried steak and I had the shrimp and grits. They were both delicious and we cleaned our plates. The view was beautiful to make a it a perfect dining experience.

We ate here today based on a google search for a brunch place. We had seen the menu and knew it was expensive, so we expected incredible food. What we got was not incredible. I wouldn't even say it was that good. Two of us had the quiche, which was good. The belllini and mimosa were good. The fries were good. Beyond that, it was disappointing. The fried chicken is sold as an $11 side dish. We got 3 pieces that were served in a deep bowl, which made it awkward to eat. The batter was overcooked and not very seasoned, but the chicken was ok inside, although the pieces were small. This was not any better than KFC. The heirloom tomato salad looked like 6 cherry tomatoes, red and yellow, cut in half. Nothing seemed heirloom about it. There was a bit of blue cheese dressing and a few slices of pickled onion on a large plate, which made it seem that food was missing because the "salad" only took up about a third of the plate. The macaroni and cheese was supposed to have a pistachio and breadcrumb crust on the top. We ordered 2 and neither had a crust but both had a slight dusting of the mixture. The sauce was OK, though it lacked salt and didn't have much of a cheese taste. The most disappointing thing was the veggie burger. 3 of us ordered it. It wasn't a burger, it was a slightly formed gray mush that completely fell apart when eaten. The bun was very good, but it had been grilled a bit so it was warm when the lettuce was placed on it and then when the hot "burger" was placed on top of the lettuce, the lettuce wilted. The burger didn't have much taste. In this day and age, there are so many restaurants that have perfected their own veggie burgers that we really expected something good for $14. For six people, including 3 alcoholic drinks and 2 sodas, our bill came to $155, before a 20% tip was added (it's automatic for parties of 6 or more). No way was this meal worth even close to that. If we had paid $55, without the drinks, I might not complain, but for what we paid this meal was a big disappointment.

Loved the vibe of the restaurant and the outside sitting area. Started with half price cocktail which was a strawberry vodka drink.. quite yummy. The brussel sprouts were amazing but the meatloaf was dense but dry.. the mash potatoes were small in portion but good. Service was good too

We arrived on Sunday with no reservations but was able to score an outdoor bar table. We started with an order of Kelly's Blueberry bread...it was delicious! Nice crunchy crust and crumble type texture for the bread. Served with their in-house whipped butter. It's available as French toast....may get that next visit. We also shared the brisket eggs Benedict....was a perfect amount to split. The hollandaise sauce was light and tasty and combined perfectly with the brisket. Very good food and atmosphere. Outdoor patio has nice view of the river. Dog friendly. We will be back!

This is my favorite place in Austin. I have lived here for 4 years and we have a lot of good restaurants but Jacoby's is the best. Cool vibe and great food. The perfect combination.

Took my daughter and two of her friends out for dinner. We were all in the mood for comfort food (good comfort food!). Two of us had the burger, one had a beef pot pie and the other chicken fried steak. For just a wee more comfort food we added mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. Way too much food but worth it! Most of their food is locally sourced. We all loved our choices. Our server (wish I remembered his name) was in training, though based on our service, he doesn't need any additional training. He knew his menu and was very attentive. Will be returning!

Great, upscale place with fantastic food!! We are still talking about the chicken fried steak! The sides were delicious, especially the Mac and cheese. Strawberry cake, and the butterscotch creme dish were excellent desserts. Highly recommend!

A lovely view (bit cold in the winter) genuine vibe with all the basics of comfort food covered. The bacon is a must.

This is a fairly new place on East side of Austin, well worth a trip for the delicious greens and BBQ pork, stuffed Salisbury steak and strawberry cake. Great patio when the weather's nice.

I had a large group of friends and family, and they set up the most amazing catered buffet for us right there in the restaurant!

I have had brunch here 3 times in the past 2 months. They are located on far East Caesar Chavez almost to 183 in a pretty industrial area. They have free valet parking which is great. They have a cool deck overlooking the Colorado River (it’s downstream from Lady Bird Lake’s Longhorn Dam). Jacoby’s is a farm to table restaurant, everything you eat was grown locally by the owners. The menu is limited due to this and they have very limited hours. They have a full bar. The Bloody Mary’s were spicy and had a lot of very course ground pepper. The Mimosa’s in little milk glass pictures so you can pour your own. Sunday Oct 30th, we started with Deviled Eggs, 3 halves per order (really should be 4 halves) for $6. My friend had the huge Cheeseburger with fries. It was freshly ground and about 1 ½ inches thick. Cooked medium. He ate most of it and said it was delicious. I had the Chicken Fried Steak and Waffles with a sunny side up egg on top. They actually brought out two super tender steaks with white gravy, 2 waffles, maple syrup and the egg on top. On my visit 3 weeks ago, I had the Braised Beef Benedict, a biscuit with 2 poached eggs, shredded tender braised beef, and a horseradish hollandaise sauce. My friend had the 3 Little Pigs Sandwich. 3 types of pork, it’s ridiculous. Wiener schnitzel, ham, house bacon and a fried egg. He loved it. The food is awesome. Great service too. Make a reservation for brunch, they get packed. I really like this place.

I liked the location as we sat outside before it got too crowded and loud but I'm glad we beat the crowd as I'm not sure where you'd park as they have limited parking. Great service! Outstanding service! Meal just not so much ... it was good, burgers were tasty but a bit over priced for what they were. Fries $3 - they were alright but not hard and crispy and I hate to use the term but yes there were a bit limp and not quite enough for two people. Appetizers were a shock (even at happy hour price) we ordered the pickles and sausage - $6 for four skinny slices of sausage and not even a full pickle spear? Mmm I think I can go down the road and get a sausage link or two for $6 Would I go back? Maybe ... but I'd probably just do a happy hour where you can get for a cheeseburger with fries for $10.

I ate here for the first time this evening and I loved it. The restaurant does not look like much from the outside, but the overall character or ambience is relaxed, energetic, upbeat, and fun. The menu is creative -- salisbury steak (really?), pimento cheese spread and crackers (really again?) -- and excellent (get a burger or fried chicken steak!). There is a nice selection of wines and the wait staff is friendly and attentive. I would come back in a heartbeat.

The food is good. Some, better than good. On my first visit, waitstaff was amenable and willing and able to please the customer. (me) on the second visit, on a night that was very slow, the waiter was brusque to the point of rudeness and rather - snobbish. If he had been any younger, I would have called him snotty. I liked their chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes.....but for the waitstaff?I can get just as good elsewhere - a lot cheaper.I won't be back

We came with another couple for dinner on a Friday night. We have eaten all over the world, even taking cooking school in Bologna. The Atmosphere and inside decor, view from outdoor patio ver nice...(hence the one star). Food was mediocre at best — chicken fried steak took THREE saws to cut off one slice, it was so tough. Meat loaf had a weird texture, almost like pate, not appetizing. The absolute WORST was the $40 steak that was so grisly and tough our dinner companion sent half of it back, asking the waiter to tell the manager it was mostly inedible. Waiter responded “sorry” and did nothing else. How unfortunate to have such a pretty setting with staff that don’t even care enough to see that their guests are taken care of, will NOT return!

Everything was very well done. Our server was very helpful and the service was attentive without being overbearing. The setting is very cool and would definitely recommend the strawberry cake for dessert.

I came to Jacoby’s for a bachelorette dinner. The food was excellent! I was convinced to try the deviled eggs which were surprisingly very good, but the Mac and Cheese was AMAZING!!! Top best Mac and Cheese I have ever had. A few girls ordered the stuffed hamburger steak and raved about it! There were fun cocktails to choose from too. This restaurant is a little further than central downtown but less than a 10 minute uber ride. Not bad at all! The service was a little slow, but that was to be expected on a Saturday night and the fact that we were such a big party. The servers were very nice. Highly recommend this spot!

First time to visit, and I was really impressed with this place. They are a farm-to-table place but have a mixture of several other vibes as well. The food portions were good even for the price. Sitting out on the patio in early spring was excellent. I look forward to a return visit.

We were a party of 4 that went to Jacoby's for dinner. Really great service and food. Casual restaurant features southern and Texas classics like burgers, steaks, and chicken fried steak. We started with Texas Caviar, pimento cheese, and deviled eggs. Excellent choices. Our table selected chicken fried steaks the Jacoby beef burger, and a harvest salad for entrees. All were great. The Jacoby Ranch is the source for their beef.

Hmmm this was a tough one to rate. Came for Sunday brunch (get a res). Ambience is pretty rad (hello awesome river view and loungey couches and bunnies out back), but it kinda stinks to have no choice but to valet; food and service were both decent, but the patio was sooooo loud. I didn't think it was possible for a patio to be loud but with the ginormous party seated next to us I suppose that was unavoidable. Also the misting machines were a little nutso... I appreciate being cooled off but not to the extent that my food gets wet while I eat? Little bizarre. Biggest hiccup was that my order got "mixed up" so my eggs florentine came out after everyone else's food, and there was no way anyone was gonna wait for me to start eating when we had two toddlers at the table. I didn't have to wait TOO long, but still. The biscuits and bechamel and spinach were great, eggs were ever so slightly but not unforgivably undercooked. I get the greatness of the farm-to-table concept, but the salad on the side was basically super fresh greens with a lazy, vaguely sour and largely underwhelming vinaigrette dressing. I appreciate saving the calories, but I would have wanted a vinaigrette that was... tastier. The cake donuts were FAB. Slightly lemony and covered in sugar and that was the best thing on the table for sure. The lightning bug cocktail was very nice for those of us who don't really like sweet cocktails in the morning. Pretty strong too. I'd go somewhere else for brunch next time I'm in town. Too many options (many less pricey) in Austin to go back here.

Yes, Austin is changing and this place is another great example of how nicely it is being done! They call it farm to market, fresh produce and meats. Our aunts and uncles called it small farming and rewarding but hard work. Jacoby’s is getting a lot of the hard work right with this place! The patio is a great hideout, the bar is naturally easy and friendly and you can watch the food being prepared as you grab your drink and walk outside. Our small group of six forgot our table reservation while on the patio but the staff kept pushing the reservation along and letting us lounge. The steaks were authentic, homegrown and how beef really taste. I now know why people stop in have a drink at the bar and get a burger on their way out of town. Notes: Some of our group thought the dinner table lighting was too dim. The wait staff will leave you alone and if you don’t read the small print menu carefully, or hear the waiter you will order a great tasting steak with no sides. Yes, it’s ala carte. Oh yeah, the valet parking is fantastic.

Staff was great. Place was eclectic and cool. Food was average. Appetizers were just not great. Steak was $58 worth of forgettable. I wanted to love it but couldn’t.

This was the first time for anyone of our group going here. It was a little clunky at first - not knowing the valet service and where to set the car as the valets were off site. Once we figured it out we sat outside on the patio. The ambiance was good but the noise level was very loud - hard for all 6 of us to engage in one conversation. The service was friendly but a little on the slow side. The food was mixed between the group. The meatloaf was interesting and the gravy superb. The deviled eggs - pimento cheese were good as were the cornbread rolls. The steak was ala carte and pricey and well, just ala carte for a 10oz steak. The meatballs were good but the sprouts were a little under seasoned. The food did seem fresh so the prices make sense.

Oh-my-goodness! We stumbled on this place because it was near our hotel. The decor alone was worth the stop. Beautiful view of the Colorado River from the patio. And... The food! We had the chicken fried steak, the shrimp & grits, sausage & pickles, hush puppies, the big salad and fresh blueberry ice cream with blueberry crumble. It was all as good as it sounds. The only improvement might be a more gracias hostess but all the rest of the staff was phenomenal. The mercantile store on the way out was a fun stop.

The worst, most expensive steak ever. Mostly gristle and fat. The staff is rude and no willingness to make right the wrongs imposed. The prices are over the top for such mediocre food. The former reviews that lured us into the place must be rigged, because the actual experience was nowhere even close to those claims. This restaurant has single handedly caused us to stop looking for new venues and stick with only known good and consistent ones that we have personally visited. I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere for this cuisine. I promise you that there are much much better places where your experience will be favorable. Finding good food and service is getting harder, and the amount of money spent to find a mistake like this one will leave you feeling robbed. Good Luck to those that don't heed the advice from reviews like this one.

I read all the great reviews and was excited when my son and I finally made it to the restaurant. We drove up the first time to find it rented out for wedding party and could not eat. We both ordered the chicken fried steak which was good but not great as everyone else had said! We have definitely had better. $19 for chicken fried steak is overpriced! We got there at 6:30 and the place was pretty empty but they stuck us at a 2 person small table in a poor location! The patio was empty! This is not good! My excitement is now over, done that, time to move on!

This is a great gathering place for a small group. There is a large, open area in the back "yard" that overlooks the Colorado river and is easily accessible to the bar. The appetizers and entrees are both satisfying and unique, and the staff are attentive. There's a festive atmosphere and though Jacoby's is a bit pricey, is a fun place. I've been here two or three times and expect to return.

Jacoby's has so much potential but lets itself down. We attended with our six and seven year old for their 4th anniversary party. They were really helpful and allowed us to move our 845 pm reservation to 730 pm by sitting us outside. The outside is lovely. They have this wonderful courtyard overlooking the river and they had live music. I can imagine happy hour here would be amazing. We ordered straight away. The food took over forty five minutes to come including our appetizers. The waitress was very apologetic and even had a laugh saying she just couldn't understand why they host such events with a kitchen so small. We saw people around us that sat after us getting their food first. The food was good. We had the boudin balls, pimento, and Texas caviar. The food was good. The wait was a killer. On the way out I popped by the bar. They were offering a raffle for a Yeti. I asked to sign up. The bartender was extremely rude and told me I had to purchase something. I said we had just had dinner, and he told me our server should have brought us a ticket. I don't care about a Yeti raffle, they are a dime a dozen, but I don't appreciate the attitude. Just not necessary. Ironically I asked some friends of ours who live in the area if they have tried Jacoby's. He remarked they had never been because they had heard the waitstaff is so rude. Sadly that bartender just proved my friend right in a big way. So much untapped potential. Sigh......

Jacoby's was our first meal once we landed in Austin and we went on a recommendation from a friend. Our reservation was for a late dinner (9:15) when we hadn't known they closed at 10. the décor was quintessential Texas; modern with a whole lot of rustic charm. We snacked on deviled eggs before diving into our main courses (stuffed acorn squash for the vegetarian and the burger for the carnivore), which were well made and delicious. the staff was SO great. They found out we weren't from here and told us which things were best to order, whipped up some great cocktails, and then went above and beyond by compiling an Austin to-Do list on receipt paper for us! That was the sweetest thing and truly made the experience top notch.

Meet some friends who live in Austin and said they heard about a great new spot. They were right. Jacoby's has amazing food in a cool spot and the vibe was perfect. We all agreed the cocktails and food were top notch.

A few miles away from Austin's bustling 6th St. sits Jacoby's. We were sat on the porch with heaters, and even though it was in the 40s outside, it was totally comfortable and not too cold. Our waiter gave us a brief intro into what the restaurant is, which is essentially a farm-to-table establishment. The family grows the feed for their cattle on their farm, and the cattle are fed naturally and without hormones, etc. I settled on the chicken fried steak, and as a table we ordered four of the family-style sides: collard greens, brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes, mac 'n cheese. Um, WOW on the food. The potatoes were so creamy and not overly buttery. The steak (two large fillets) comes with a small portion of arugula that was lightly dressed. And the steak itself was mm mmm mmm. The breading was crispy and perfectly seasoned, and the steak was just SO good. As for the sides we ordered, all were so delicious, particularly the collard greens, which had a light maple flavor. So, so good. Additionally, there's a cute shop just inside the entrance with jewelry and nicknacks-- I wish I had set aside time to browse. There were a lot of really cute pieces.

Fabulous evening all around! Great venue with great views! Staff was friendly and attentive. All of the food was delicious with a special shout out to the deviled eggs and mac & cheese!

My wife and I arrived on a Saturday without a reservation, knowing full well that it was a risky gamble. But we got two seats at the bar right away and were pleasantly surprised to be offered a spot outside not much later, which had been the goal from the get go. The staff must've taken pity on us because we were the only people that got seated that evening at the outdoor bar rail, which kind of oddly faced their valet parking lot (the valets always kept the headlights off when retrieving cars from back there, which was nice of them). The restaurant is cool looking, and the food and drinks were all pretty good. Highlights were the dumplings appetizer, the chicken fried steak (hadn't eaten that in years!) and mac & cheese.

My wife and I went here for her birthday. The decor is gorgeous, staff are amazing, and the food is incredible. All of their food is farm-to-table and you can tell that it is top quality food. You have a great view of the river. Will definitely go back here again and bring others with me.

Tasty southern food in a comfortable setting. Try the meatloaf! The specialty drinks are also very good. Excellent service, pretty seating in rear.

For a $58 steak, I'd expect nothing short of exceptional. I got nothing but unacceptable. Not was it not warm...it was cold! Onion rings were chilled, broccoli was gross and cold. The manager was rude and totally clueless on how to handle the situation. Way in over her head obviously. Never will I return. Because of the attitude Andy (female) the manager gave me. I am not a complainer and would never have left a review had she not been so rude.

Brunch at Jacoby's was every bit as delicious as I'd heard. Split a variety of dishes - the deviled eggs, the smoked salmon plate, and the mushroom grits. Water and mimosas served in classic Texas style, eg mason jars. The salmon won the praise of the deli connoisseur and the mushroom grits were both homey and surprising at the same time. We opted to sit inside but next time will enjoy the large patio. Wait staff was friendly and professional. Free valet parking. Definitely coming back!!

My 16 year old daughter and I had reservations for brunch, took a cab from downtown to make it on time. The place is super rustic, charming but almost overboard on the "rustic". There was no one to point out where the entrance is despite the fact that they offer valet service at the front door. There was no hostess at in the foyer but the barista offered to greet us. The hostess set us at a large corner table inside and when we requested an outside table she said those were "all reserved". Soon the same artists from up dying came up and took us to one of the dozen open tables outside. We ordered coffee but had no spoons to stir in the cream and sugar.. the waitress seem eager to take are order spitting out what the favorite dish is. The brunch menu is short. I ordered duck confit - great by the way! We ordered cheese grits to share - fantastic! And mushroom quiche also excellent! Coffee was served in metal milk mugs (they transfer heat like no other- bad choice for hot beverages !) the waitress spent more time petting the dog who enjoyed breakfast with couple next to us then actually tending to anyone's needs. Poor drink guy who helped her had no idea what to do.. overall : great good, poor service, rustic a little off the wall atmosphere.

Great Texas flair! From the minute you walk in you’re greeted by the superb service that awaits your indulgence. We celebrated my sister’s bday with a brunch started with the warm, fluffy, and delicious biscuits and gravy shared by all 8 of us, along with the perfect scone and cinnamon roll. Portions are perfect for sharing. Chicken fried steak and waffles, Amazing! The steak hash was given 👍🏼if you like bbq sauce. Mimosas were served in cute mason jars and the large pitcher is more than enough for a group of 8. The cute store is full of great vintage things!

We were in town, and took a friend there for his birthday..They had only been open a few months, but had it dialed. Service was great...we tried their great cocktails as well as fun food. (Pimento spread? Who knew it was soooo good?) Enjoyed everything about it

Based on the reviews suggesting the brunch here my wife and I went to check it out. The atmosphere was good, clean space with pleasant design. Odd choice to enter/exit through a gift shop, but that wasn’t off-putting. We were seated promptly and ordered coffee and two bloody marys. Coffee came out without sweetener, and couldn’t get the waitress’s attention to get some for 30 mins. Once we did, we asked after our drinks which had yet to arrive - apparently “there was a mixup at the bar”. For food we ordered the Duck confit migas, which sounded excellent but had an unpleasant burned taste in spots and was fairly bland throughout. We also had the smoked beef hash, which was good, but was one-note and didn’t meet expectations for the price. The highlight was the pumpkin bread French toast which was terrific. The Bloody Marys were not bad but also not worth the wait. All in, my biggest frustration with this place was that for the price (our bill came out to ~$90) we could have had significantly better food and service elsewhere.

4 of us came here for dinner before joining my other daughter to a party after the rehearsal dinner for her friend who was getting married the next day. ' We easily valet parked and walked right in. It was difficult getting earlier reservations on this particular Friday evening but 8:15 turned out to be fine and they were ready for us. There were one or two younger groups dining together. The atmosphere was rustic and cool with rough wood tables. So naturally, chicken fried steak was in order. I started with an excellent Manhattan neat, made with Bullet Rye. Two of us ordered the chicken fried steak and it was was very good, and much more affordable than the other cuts of steak. There are a lot of restaurants on this stretch of Cesar Chavez Street. We met up with the crowd at Tilleries just a short walk away.

I recommend this to any and everyone. The atmosphere is amazing and beautiful and everything we ordered from drinks to snacks to meals was outstanding. I can't wait to go back. This is also a perfect must go to Austin spot

Dined here recently with family. Found the food to have many hits and one miss. I had the Salisbury steak and several sides. The steak was overcooked and hard to cut even with a steak knife. The sides were all excellent, especially the mac and cheese. The room was extremely noisy and made conversation very difficult. The crowd of 20 to 30 somethings was enjoying itself very much. If you don't mind the noise, this is the place for you.

The atmosphere here is very welcoming and downhome. The location is off the beaten path, but easy to get to. Complementary valet parking and very secure. Our Server was excellent and so friendly, just wonderful. My wife ordered the burger of the week and was very pleased (and she's not a burger head). I had the meatloaf and it was very good. We sat on the patio and they had heaters so it was very nice and the view of the river is very nice. The decorations on this place are spectacular. Prices are what you would expect for Austin, but the service and food was excellent. Great place for a date night.

Went with friends on Halloween evening for happy hour drinks. This place is so charming, warm and trendy. We sat on the bluff for drinks and should have stayed for the food. It smelled amazing but we had reservations somewhere else. Our server was adorable and very attentive. Wish their deck and "bluff" could be my own backyard. I took lots of pictures for ideas. Excited to go back!

Friend's we were staying with brought us to this restaurant for the first time. Looks like nothing form the outside. This is a straight forward, nothing fancy, farm to table, comfort food. We were able to sit outside on their back patio. Appys we choose were two orders of the deviled eggs, Pickle Jar and onion rings. All very good. I had the chicken fried steak - very tender meat and a nice crunch on the fry. Our guests had the NY Strip Steak and I tried some. It was very tender with a nice natural flavor. My wife had the Cheese Burger which she liked very much. It was a very enjoyable evening. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Wine and liquor options are limited. I would easily return when back in town.

Very kitschy place not too far from downtown and the atmosphere inside is cool. We actually were seated outside and had a nice view of the river. The best part of the meal were the apps. The dumplings and pimento cheese app were outstanding. I had the shrimp and grits which was very good - almost Carolina good. The steaks that others at the table ordered seemed to universally average. The service was slow but polite, and the place was packed, so reservations are recommended.

Had a terrific meal served up in the really great room. Loved the decor, and the riverside location is hugely appealing. Good company, brought our dog, had a long casual meal with a super-attentive waiter. Not inexpensive, but worth it for a bit of a splurge.

I had a culinary experience at this restaurant that I won't forget any time soon. Everything was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend the deviled eggs and the duck. There is also free valet service which is awesome!

We are not food snobs nor elitists. Jacobys atmosphere is cool, but not cool enough to compensate for mediocre cuisine that is over priced. Additionally, the arrogant attitude is offensive. Why be that way to anyone, especially people paying $30 for a few shrimp on common grits! Too many great options in Austin to dine here. Ugh, No Buenos and no return visit. RNelson (Austin,TX)

I'd read in the Austin American Statesman that Jacoby's cheeseburger was in the top 15 of hamburgers in Austin, TX. We went for Saturday brunch and I was definitely not disappointed! The burger was juicy and topped with (melted) Deer Creek one year aged cheese (I asked). It was a little messy as a good burger should be! My husband ordered the chicken fried steak with waffles and fried egg, and found it to be quite delicious, as well. Jacoby's is a great place for comfort food. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially our waitress V. Loved that complimentary valet parking was available. Would definitely recommend!

Loved the food and the ambiance! Drinks are excellent, wait staff very knowledgeable and helpful.....perfect evening. Had a wonderful time and looking forward to our next trip to Austin!

We are from Houston and were visiting Austin for the weekend. We had made a reservation for 5 people at 1:45pm at Jacoby’s because it had good reviews. When we arrived we were told the restaurant was full and no one seemed to be leaving their tables due to a storm that was happening outside (which we had just drove in and through flooded streets to get there). We were told by the manager that we could wait to see if a party would leave, but he came back 5 minutes later and stated they wouldn’t be seating us at all. Apparently the restaurant closes @2pm which is also why they probably didn’t allow us to wait for a table either, but then why allow reservations to be made for 1:45pm. Also, it sounds like it was poor planning on the restaurants end if they can’t even manage to have one single table open for an upcoming reservation. It literally made no logical sense. Management could have handled this situation differently especially since we were willing to wait and actually had a reservation made already. We will never return to this place.

I have eaten here twice and the food is delicious. I had the local farm raised steak and it literally melted in my mouth. The chicken fried steak is also delicious. This restaurant remains true to southern roots while adding a foodie twist. The Sunday brunch is worth the wait, but try to make a reservation! The biscuits and gravy is over the top delicious as well as the cinnamon rolls, house smoked salmon and Benedict. Before you leave check out the mercantile shop for some cool things that remind you of your Grandmom's house!

Great chirpy place. Excellent service. Honey Badger Cocktail was one of the best ones I have ever had. Amazing Vegetarian options. Will go again

I’m in town visiting some friends and they recommended this place for dinner. The appetizers were delicious and the salmon was amazing! I’d definitely come back when in town again. Oh and the customer service was phenomenal. We started out with outdoor seating, but once we got our appetizers the flies started to be a pestilence and we requested to go inside. Our Waitress was very accommodating.

We arrived during happy hour and the prices on food and drink can't be beat. We sat outside on the patio and the flies are REALLY pasty. The food is ok, not worthy of a visit when you're only in town for a few days.

A buddy and I were looking for a fun, casual place with local flavor and varied menu. Home run. Took reservations. Great interior. . Decent menu and wine list. Great ambiance. Excellent service. Good food It was just a great night out without being overdone.

The owners own a cattle ranch, we were told, which explains good beef choices. Menu has a few entrées, but excellent options; many appetizers and sides. We both decided on the chicken fried steak, and it may have been among the best ever. We decided to use the side of mac/cheese w brisket as an appetizer, and loved it thoroughly. Only problem is the mandatory valet parking. Our car was parked 15 ft from where we dropped it off. The valet was nice enough, and polite, said parking space was an issue. But we saw useable spaces in front of their meat market, and restaurant hours are after the market closes. We'll be back when in Austin.

We called ahead but didn't reserve because they said there was not a line. But we had to wait 30 minutes for a table, so call ahead on Sunday brunch days... It was well worth the wait. Precious little shopping by the coffee bar, free valet parking, awesome porch seating, fun crowd, clean, wait staff super nice, and the food was great. My favorite was the braised beef benedict. Get that!!! I will go back... forsure. But I'll call first. :)

Jacoby's has a reputation for having outstanding cocktails. Try the Melvin Mule - it was spicy and flavorful. The menu is a bit limited, but if you are looking for steak, this is a great stop. The wine list is strong, with a good variety of choices.

Brunch is my favorite at Jacobys, small menu but always hard to choose because every plate is sure to please. I love the mac and cheese and add the bacon because it just makes it so much better. The chicken fried steak and waffles is great but i would recommend asking for the gravy on the side. Great atmosphere and lovely outside area

Good food and large portions. Great place for brunch. Limited menu but lots of vegetarian options which is a plus

I honestly love this place and think this wad the best meal of my Austin trip. We had some starters to share , some salad , and two mains. The food was locally sourced and cooked to perfection. The service was wonderful ..very attentive.

Server, Chris was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. They think of everything.. They provide sunglasses and blankets if your on the patio.

Came here for brunch on a late Sunday mornind. We both commented on the limited menu even considering it was brunch. We both had the chicken fried steak and waffles and the recommended potatoes . After an exceptional wait to be served our meals arrived. The waffles were lukewarm. The syrup for the waffles was cold and the chicken fried steak was warm only. Not much flavor here also. service was good and the staff was friendly . The facilities were very pleasing to the eye. Due to our mediocre dining experience. We won’t be back. Greatly overpriced considering what we were served.

Late for lunch though we were, the staff greeted us warmly and served us without rush or bother. The room was just as welcoming, with cozy design choices in Texas country style and comfortable seating. We could see a beautiful deck and patio outside but stayed indoors to avoid the heat. Our group ordered a traditional pimento cheese appetizer, salads—the beet salad was especially good—and the famous house burger, all of which was delicious. We understand Jacoby’s is a relatively new spot on the Austin dining scene. From our experience, I’d say it has a bright future.

We visited as a large party (12 planned, 10 arrived) at the suggestion of one of the group who had previously visited for lunch. The place has several unique things about it. First, all food is sourced local and organic, the beef comes from the owners family ranch. The menu on line doesn't show the steaks but that is what most people had. The drink menu is unique and quirky but the two tried were good. There are a few reviews here complaining about slow and poor service for large parties but the service was quite good on our visit. Drinks and appetizers were fast, try the deviled eggs and the pickles and summer sausage, they were both nice. Collectively we tried the prime rib, filets, pork chop and chicken. The filets come with a wonderful pimento hash base and were prepared exactly as ordered. One couple shared the pork chop and said it was delicious, while another shared the chicken and they liked it. If it's not already summer when you visit ask to sit out back next to the river. Large parties only fit out back so if you're 7 or more plan to be outside. Parking is valet only. My take away, good food in a nice location but pricy. We'll visit again. There is a mercantile stoor attached to the restaurant as well.

Went here with a group of 15. Had reservations, seated promptly Nice location. Outdoor setting, although there is sitting inside of course. Had some starters....deviled eggs, salami/bread platter. Had some steaks as specials as well as a handful of entrees on the menu. I had shrimp with grits. Many had steak frites, NY Strip Food was good, although not anything special. We had a few different desserts that we shared. They were ok. The location and service were very good for a table of 15 It’s about a $10 cab ride from downtown Austin

What a great find for a visitor. Cute place inside and out. I had some fantastic craft cocktails with a great steak. Not sure what else anyone would ever need. Everything I had, including the mint on the way out (not a mint but a bit of honey) made me happy.

Seriously, we NEVER do the same restaurant twice in 24 hours, but there were things on the menu we needed to come back for. Awesome farm-to-table cuisine in a very eclectic, comfortable setting. Do not miss a chance to eat here.

This was our Saturday evening dinner choice during a girls’ weekend in Austin. We loved the variety of seating options-indoor, covered/heated patio, and outdoor-as well as its location right along the river. Our drinks and appetizers were unique and wonderful, but the main course options were disappointing. The steak options were beyond pricey for the offering ($50 for a 6 oz sirloin). The salads were great but the cheeseburgers were really tough. Glad we didn’t spring for the steak. Luckily, we rounded out dinner with a fantastic piece of pecan pie a la mode. And the service was outstanding all evening.

Great Saturday brunch! Everything is very fresh the service is amazing and the Scones are a must have. We had a party of five and no one was disappointed in their meal choices. I would suggest a reservation if you have more than two people dining if you think it will be a busy time.

Bring customers here to experience great Austin food and atmosphere 99% would have never tried. Great food from burgers to steaks, good dtinks, cold beer. Nice surprise for a special client.

Absolutely delicious with a fantastic patio. The beef was straight from the family ranch. We had perfectly cooked hamburgers. Don't miss the dumplings!

A super quaint shop of really cool merchandise and the restaurant is phenomenal. The dry aged Jacoby Beef from their own ranch is perfection. The outdoor patio overlooking the Colorado River is one of the top rated in all of Austin patios.. Cannot say enough able how great this place is.

From the outside and driving past it, you may not want to stop. But go in. The outer area has things to purchase. The bar is big and drinks are great and the wait staff are very friendly. The menu has local, burger, and non traditional foods. The atmosphere is relaxed and artful. The staff are hustling but not pushy. We had unique salads, lots of small dishes and got stuffed on appetizers. We'll go back tonight for a full meal. Don't drive by, go in, it's really worth it.

First time at this restaurant and we loved it. Sat out back ad enjoyed a beautiful Texas evening. Service was excellent, prompt and courteous. Cocktails were well made and tasty. All of us enjoyed our meals. They make a big deal about their ranch to table beef but frankly the strip I had was expensive and nothing to write home about! I've had much better steaks elsewhere. Regardless it's a definite recommend.

I had previously been to Jacoby's for brunch but this was my first time for dinner. Service and portion sizes exceeded expectations, most of the food was pretty good, and as always, the strawberry cake for dessert was LITERALLY the icing on the cake for a great Saturday night dinner with family. If you've never been, the parking is valet only but the service is complimentary and tips are accepted. SERVICE - Our waitress, Kristie (not sure on the spelling), was FANTASTIC! She was very personable and checked on us frequently to make sure we had what we needed. Our food came out quickly and our water glasses were constantly getting refilled. PRICE - The portion sizes were larger than we were expecting (some of the pictures online made the dishes look small) so I think the pricing is reasonable for what you get. STUFFED YEAST ROLLS (7/10) - The menu says "3 for $14" but they accommodated us to have an order of 5 so everyone in our group could try one. The rolls were glistening with butter when they came out and were each a good size. The filling is very sloppy joe-esque with chopped pieces of beef in a rather sweet sauce. They're tasty but they don't knock your socks off. 1/2 LB CHEESEBURGER & FRIES (6.5/10) - The burger comes on a fluffy, toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, and red onion with pickles, ketchup, and a garlic aioli on the side with a pretty good portion of fries. The burger was cooked medium but there was almost no visible pink on the inside so I personally thought it was a little overcooked. The fries were pretty basic and weren't super hot so I ate a few and left the rest. This burger filled me up and was decent but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to anyone. BBQ MEATLOAF (7/10) - This was my husband's dish so I only had a small bite to try it... it was pretty good but didn't blow us away. It was a good size portion and the meatloaf was pretty moist. The creamed green beans and mashed potatoes were basic. MANCHEGO TATER TOTS (8/10) - I had previously tried these during brunch and they were just as good as I remembered! The inside texture is softer than a regular tater tot... closer to mashed potatoes. But, they are nice and crispy on the outside and the Jacoby's Special Sauce that comes with them is delicious! It has a slight heat that adds a nice flavor to the cheesy and salty tots. I'd recommend these to anyone I know coming! MAC & CHEESE (5/10) - I remembered this being WAY better when I had it for brunch... although that could be the difference between adding brisket and having it plain. Considering there are three different kinds of cheeses added in, the flavor is pretty muted and boring. Even with 5 people, we still left a fair amount of this behind because it didn't excite any of us. CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS (8/10) - I didn't get a picture of these but they were very good! I feel like every restaurant has some sort of brussels sprouts dish and they're all basically the same but these actually stood out with the mustard flavor. I LOVED how it paired with the slight sweetness and the pecans. My only complaint is that these weren't very "crispy"... they were definitely on the softer side. Crisp these up a little under the broiler and they'd be a 10/10! STRAWBERRY CAKE (9/10) - Listen... I have dreams about this cake. Often. I'm usually team chocolate when it comes to desserts but this strawberry cake is PHENOMENAL! All you have to do is smell it and you're instantly reminded of those Good Humor strawberry shortcake ice cream bars. The cake is soft and fluffy, the frosting is dense and sweet, and the strawberry flavor runs throughout every bite without being artificial tasting. I do think the cake layers were slightly over baked on our slices because you can see the darker color near the middle frosting line. But even on a bad day, this cake is on another level. I will get this every single time I come! Other members of my group also ordered the Gulf Shrimp & Grits and the Hoppin' John with shrimp added... they had nothing but great things to say about the dishes and the portion sizes on them were bigger than expected. I think Jacoby's is a great option for brunch and a decent option for dinner. We were there from 6:30 - 9:00 pm on a Saturday night and it wasn't overly busy at any point but they were packed when I came for brunch so it seems like a lot of people agree. Either way, the patio area is very nice and the strawberry cake alone is enough reason to come for a visit!

Had the steak here and it was very good, the views in the fall from the back patio area are also really nice.

This is elevated comfort food...with new twists on classics...the best I have ever tasted, with amazing presentation and plentiful servings. The menu is short and sweet but loaded with deliciousness. The 5 stars are based on the food...it is great...but service is average. We recently went for brunch, and you MUST have side orders of cheddar grits. Even if you have never had or been fond of grits, you will love these cheesy delights. I had the chicken fried steak and waffles. It comes with TWO medium chicken fried steaks and 2 of the fluffiest waffles ever! The braised beef benedict is the new height of benedicts. The bloody Mary's are strong, and the atmosphere is super relaxing - it backs up onto the Colorado River nature reserve. HINT #1: They have complimentary valet parking. HINT #2: Reservations are recommended,,,this place is popular!

Loved this place. Went for brunch on a girls trip to Austin. It was about a 10 -15 minute car ride outside of downtown but worth the $7 Uber ride. There is a large covered outside area and the inside is super cute too! The food was delicious and the service was great. My only complaint would be that some items were a little pricey (example: $6 for one small cinnamon bun). I would still recommend it though and if I'm ever back in Austin would love to try it for dinner!

Finally, made time to visit this place. Came on a Tuesday night. They have all day happy hour on Tuesday. It includes half off a small number of wines, some beer & house wine discounts and a few of their cocktails. We were seated inside and there was only one other table occupied inside. There were about three people seated at the bar. Everyone else was seated outside. Not sure why we were not given a choice to seat outside but honestly not that big of deal to us. The manager/owner was seated at the end of the bar doing some sort of work on his laptop. We sat for a long time before finally Chris arrived asking us what we would want to drink. Of course we didn't get any sort of run down of any of their happy hour specials we figured that out on our own via the paper the hostess left with us. Actually, Chris didn't say anything to us but what do you want. We ordered and then that was the last we saw of Chris for awhile. They have a food runner that sits at the kitchen window and brings out the food. Our first round of drinks also were delivered by her as they sat at the bar for awhile. This is where I was getting annoyed. The bartender saw them there for a bit. The manager/owner was there. They were literally 12 feet away from our table. At one point, I almost got up and got them. My husband stopped me. Finally, the food runner brought them. When we ordered our food we told Chris what wine we wanted with our meal as well. Food runner brought our food but no wine. It wasn't poured. Finally, Chris came back asked how our food was and I asked about our wine. Oh let me go put that in for you. Really? OK. But again once it was poured he was no where to be found. Again the food runner brought them to us. Thankful for her. Wish our tip could go to her. She did more for us that Chris. Now I get it. We were his only table inside. Everyone was outside and I believe he has some large tables out there. Ok so bartender you want to help your server out? Or hey you the owner/manager guy sitting at the end of the bar doing your paper work what about you? Want to make sure everyone feels served not just the people sitting outside? The food was fine. Not great not blow my mind but just fine. The mash potatoes are too salty. I guess they use salted butter. My husband said his pork was fine but again nothing that he couldn't do at home. Our brussel sprouts were over cooked. I would never order them again a waste of $9. After we were done we sat again, waiting for Chris. Finally, he came and asked if we wanted to see the desert menu. At this point, I was done and ready to leave but my husband wants to experience everything. I am glad we didn't wait long for him to return and we chose the strawberry cake. It was the best thing we had. Extremely well done and worth a trip back if for nothing else but the cake. Overall, really disappointing. I know not to judge a place on one server. It is hard in this town to get good help. It would have been great to see more team work. However, that didn't happen. The other table inside who had a different server with tables outside came to their table five time. It became a joke between my husband and I how ignored we were. The food didn't help their case though. For the price point there are better options in the city. We will probably give it one more shot but ask not to have Chris as our server.

What a find !!!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻the patio seating was so nice . Our waitress was great . The drinks were awesome. Now to the food terrific. The waffles and chicken fried steak were huge got to share and delicious!!! I wish I could have had room for the Mac and cheese it looked to die for !!! Everything is farm grown on their ranch .

Great ambiance, inconsistent food and service. Loved the decor and excellent live music. Partner and I ordered and shared the chicken and meatloaf. Meatloaf was amazing — rich, flavorful, served atop a heap of perfect mashed potatoes. Chicken was dry and bland, served with way overcooked vegetables (cauliflower was soft and Brussels sprouts had gone bitter) and quinoa (random choice, and contained nuts which was not listed on the menu). New trainee server Coco was friendly and helpful; the trainer Lee was overbearing and tried too hard to upsell. Good concept, but should stick to food they do best, and keep it simple. Prices are $20+ for an entree and $12+ for a cocktail and the quality just doesn’t warrant that cost.

It is a funky cool sort of place, with a lot of outside seating. I was here for a group event where we took over the whole place, so it might be not representative for how it normally would be. But I was disappointed. The salmon was outstanding--evidently wild Pacific salmon, which is rare in this part of the world. But the rest of the meal was notably disappointing---especially the dessert.

Today was my 5th visit to this hipster outpost on the east side. The romantic concept is the Jacobys own the land, the cows and the restaurant. The farm to table circle, however, is lost in execution. As a native Texan I know a little 'bout beef and the cut passed off today as a ribeye was a poor cut of meat. This replaced the inedible dry brisket with odd tasting hollandaise sauce we sent back. Then again the salad that accompanied the steak & eggs was fresh & delicious; love the peppery arugula. The beet & sweet potato starter I also enjoyed. The room is well appointed and mostly I have enjoyed cocktails here. The biscuit was too heavy but edible plain (inedible somehow with butter &/or jam).

I have been here for dinner and brunch and the food is just wonderful! With that being said, if you are on a budget, there are somethings that might make you cringe on the menu. The key is to make friends with your server. They are probably on the same budget you are. ;) Both of my experiences were similar. Complementary Valet (wow that is going to break the bank right there.) Nah, if you look at what the going rate for valet tips in Austin are, it is only going to set you back around $3-4 and your date is going to like the fact that you are not having to walk a block and cross Cesar Chavez. Once you are looking at the menu, the server will tell you the special of the day and it will be on a card on your table. It will sound great: A natural grass fed 10 oz steak. Perfect! Then you look at the price $48. Hmm that is what I wanted to spend for my family of three. Oh server, what are your large portion items that can be split among us? Mac and Cheese please! This could be the best Mac and Cheese since NO VA closed. The Brunch pastries are good size and mimosas are average price. Overall, this place is awesome and can be done on a budget with the servers help. Let the Tesla drivers order the steak and finest Highlands scotch to keep Jacoby's doors open.

Nice atmosphere but do not order the avocado toast. It’s on the saddest and smallest piece of bread, the avocado is not fresh but out of a store bought tub, there’s maximum half a slice of lox on it and it’s incredible underwhelming. It was also $19!!! The “fresh” strawberries on the strawberry cake where spoiled and luckily he took the cake off our bill… tater tots and deviled eggs were okay but thought the restaurant was massively over priced for the quality of food. Wouldn’t return.

Hill country chique all the way. Delicious food, the mimosas were perfect, and I loved the relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

Like the title says, Jacobys has a great vibe in a pristine side of the river in a hip part of austin. It's has an fantastic burger too. It's a little expensive. Worth a try and a great place for date night

The food is top-notch, with corn-bread to die for The kicker (for me, at least), is that they have a "make your own mimosa" thingy where they basically give you the prosecco and mixers, letting you adjust the proportions - awesomeness...

In far east Austin, this restaurant has a wonderful view of the Colorado River, and a nice happy hour. Some of the seating is at picnic tables so if you don't want that you should request not to sit there when you make the reservation.

The question when we pulled in was 'where's the restaurant?' Oh, around back, sort of, got it. The structure does not appear to be a nice restaurant. But on the inside, it was elegant in an antique kind of way, like walking into a bed and breakfast. Very nice and comfortable. We dined in a private room and the service, food, and wine was exceptional. Food was served family style. The menu was limited because it was a business dinner for 10 but I would not hesitate to return for the regular menu. Chicken-fried steak and the mashed potatoes were excellent, as was the 'Cru' pinot noir and the California sauvignon blanc (I don't remember the brand). Well done all around.

The food is a mixed bag. Some was fantastic, but most in our party just rated it average. In general, really bland and lacking salt. The service was as good as it could be, but the tables are really cramped together allowing minimal server space. It can get noisy when the place is full as it really is just one small dining room with about a dozen tables. The valet parking is a great amenity.

Had a great first experience here---food, drinks, atmosphere, service, all perfect. So we planned a b'day celebration here....and nothing could have been further from Visit #1. We had an indifferent server who kept us waiting L O N G intervals btw drinks, courses, check. My food was just awful (the swiss steak, skip it, a frozen entree would be tastier). I think others liked their food alright, but I wish our celebration had been somewhere with a longer, better track record. I know they have to enclose the patio to maximize winter seating, but the plastic tent is a real let down after experiencing that space open to the lake view earlier in the fall. Maybe will try again for brunch on a sunny day, but feeling dubious...

We had a lot of fun here, we loved the decor, and the menu was also really good. I had to indulge in the strawberry cake, even though it was only breakfast. My friends really liked the mimosa trio, and I enjoyed the bloody mary. Would definitely like to return.

I asked where do I get the best steak in Austin? Jacoby's came on the top of the list pretty often, so let's try! The steak was good (but $54!), and a bit overcooked to my wishes, but that's fine I can cope with it. What I didn't specifically was "where do I get the best steak in Austin, AND a decent wine list AND a decent service AND a decent dessert". That's a stretch, and for now, you probably need to visit 4 different places to get it all. The Brussel sprout were overly sweet, the side without interest and the sauce on the steak seemed to be willing to hide something. The patio is nice though and very casual. The service is very casual too and overly interruptive of any conversation we tried to have. Their valet was useless, snooty and unfriendly. Overall, it is a very Austin average place, without interest for anybody who has been exposed to world cuisine, regardless of the level.

Really liked the ambiance, the good service and the fact that it is located in the outskirts of Austin away from the busyness of downtown. We ate out on the back porch with a view of the trees and lots of shrubs and greenery. The grilled tuna, chicken-fried steak and mac & cheese were good but the bbq ribs weren't real "southern bbq" in my opinion. It is a pricey spot so not family friendly if you're on a budget but nice for a special date night or occasion.

My niece suggested this restaurant for dinner for dinner when I was in Austin for business the other day. On the Colorado river, small , but cozy inside and lots of room outside if you choose to sit out side. the cheese appetizer plate is awesome! I had a 'sampler' beef plate which contained 3 cuts of beef: flat steak, rib, and something. .it was really good. The sides are family style.. the greens were tangy and brussel sprouts were roasted fabulously. The desserts were incredible. Wait staff professional, friendly, and very attentive! love this place.. will return if I get a chance. Valet parking is the ONLY way to park actually so be prepared. not much room around to park. .

I'll start with the good..Fantastic service. Shabby chic decor is nice too. Heres the bad and alot ofit..regrettably the food is overpriced and of average to below average flavor and quality. Deviled eggs were tasteless and a waste of money as were the hushpuppies. Fried chicken was over cooked with low quality choices of meat. Don't select this item. Quiche was also over cooked and flavorless. Chicken fried steak and waffles a rip off as the CFS was lousy but the waffles good. Hash was more like a salad and also not very good. Mac and cheese just plain boring. Burger was very good as were the cheddar grits. Even the bloody Mary's were not that good. Got stuck on the back patio with flies everywhere while getting soaked in the rain because owners too cheap to invest in blind or curtains to keep the rain out. Clearly ownership spent a lot of their money on the trendy decor and atmosphere and not on food quality and value. At almost $60 per person I demand and expect a lot more. Not one to visit again.

This place looks amazing and has a stunning outside space (that you don’t see from the road). Went for Easter Brunch. Server was excellent - smiley, genuine, helpful. Food though was a bit hit and miss and that may have been down to the hot hold buffet service. Some dishes held well (mac and cheese) but others were dry and tough (chicken fried steak). I’d go back again and try the items al la carte, fresh from their kitchen. Wouldn’t return for any buffet. On the expensive side too.

First and foremost, if you have a bad back, tailbone, knees or can't sit on a backless solid steel round bar stool, don't go, just leave. Two days later and I'm still hurting. They would only seat us at a way over cramped and crowded bar....only problem was there were at least 4-6 tables that could have been made for a 2 top. I'll keep it short on this review. Took over 45 minutes for 2 brunch items, no substitutions or special requests. Service was purely an afterthought, of course it was, we were seated at a bar, we were pretty much ignored and had to wave someone down most of the meal. Order was Chicken Fried Steak and Waffles with iced tea. The syrup was to die for. The chicken fried steak was an attempt, but failed, the waffles were burnt in places and the gravy poured all over the waffles was made with burnt milk, truly disgusting. The iced tea was about the strength of coffee and at least two days old, and probably sat outside for most of it. When I finally flagged down someone at the end and asked if they could break a $20 so I could tip the valet, they came back with no one dollar bills...I smiled and said I needed some ones, as they were walking off they said they didn't have any. HOW DOES A RESTAURANT NOT HAVE $1 BILLS? With Austin what it is, it would be very hard for me to return to place that thinks they are chic and eclectic, but in reality it's nothing but a crappy restaurant with a rude staff.

If we could say 10/10, we would! Delicious! Service was sensational - bravo John! And the venue inside and out are just perfect- so well done! Thank you for such a wonderful evening! What an inspiring restaurant!

We went with another couple and decided to try 4 different entrees and four different appetizers. All were really good. The Bone-In RibEye was wonderful but the big surprise was the meat loaf. We also had the Chicken Fry and a Squash dish. All Good Drinks were good and service great.

Buttoned up Southern Comfort food at its finest. I can’t say I order meatloaf on a regular basis but the Jacoby meatloaf was like a better version of my memories from childhood. Everything we had was just like a stepped up version of traditional southern comfort food. We will definitely be returning with guests.

jacoby's is warm and friendly. the bar is jumping with craft cocktails, and a fabulous happy hour. The service is attentive. The complimentary mini corn muffins served alongside room temp butter are yummy. The steaks and all the meats come from the Jacoby family ranch, just outside Brady, Texas. The food was varied, imaginative, but most of all served warm fresh, hot and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. They have a patio deck amongst the trees. We sat inside and loved it.

Wonderful atmosphere but go for drinks and a burger. Our tab for 4 people was $400 and the quality of food for that was not worthy. We got our Mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts way after our meal had been delivered. Mac and cheese was to dry. Filet was good but not $54 worth. Stick to basic foods on the menu and it’s worth the trip to see the river and have drinks outside.

I read plenty of good reviews about Jacoby's to gain my interest to try this place out. All the food we ordered at our table of 6 people were great, but I was slightly disappointed on the vegetable selections (greens other than salad). We didn't get any drinks so I can't speak to any of it. We went for dinner and the crowd surrounding us ranged from dressed up to casual. Fair trendy crowd I would say. There were people there for dinner as well as Happy Hour type. Overall a good experience. Parking is a little odd. No street parking in front of the restaurant and it's 100% valet parking. However, it seems like some of the guest cars were parked by Valet drivers just across the street. Just across the street and slightly down the street you can probably find parking in front of businesses that are closed for the day. We didn't try that though since we weren't familiar with the area.

We have gone here with couples as well as with family, and the food had been consistently great. The service is very attentive without being obtrusive. They offer nice appetizers, large portioned entrees and family style sides. Over the course of our visits, we have tried the Boudin Blanc Balls, the deviled eggs, the pimiento cheese and the stuffed yeast rolls as appetizers. For entrees, we have tried the pork chop, salmon, and shrimp and grits. On Sundays, they make an awesome chicken and waffles. For sides, we have tried the pimiento cheese grits, the mac and cheese and the mashed potatoes and gravy. All the dishes were excellent. If you want great food and great service, give Jacoby’s a try. HINT #1: Get a table out on the covered patio for the best views and atmosphere. HINT #2: Try the Sunday brunch!

Reservations and valet are required in the East Austin little gem. Set amidst an area that has been "gentrified" this eatery is casual for outdoor eating and beautiful views of the lake below. Menu was small but covered most guests' needs - daily specials heavy on beef coming from their own stock and aged for maximum flavoring. Specialty drinks included a lager with "Big Red" - a must. Sides were generous and each surpassed the usual offering by other eateries as the emphasis was on Southern cuisine touches. Service was unobtrusive, but constant, with little touches that added to the evening. Music was pleasant without being too loud in the background. Dinner service only - closed for lunch. Valet was quick and attentive. Reservations must include all parties to seat. Overall, an excellent evening.

This place looks wonderful! Great, creative ambiance; appealing menu. But what is served could be better. Some items were better than others. A signature dish, highly recommended by our server, was a pork chop that was dry and without much flavor. Another in our party had a hamburger, which was just that: an unexciting typical type hamburger. My wife had the shrimp and grits, which were pretty good, but not outstanding. Annoyingly, Jacoby's has a edge of "full of themselves," which is entirely unjustified. Would I recommend Jacoby's? Well, you can't go too far wrong. But if you have a discriminating palate (most people don't), maybe you'd be happier elsewhere. We didn't think that Jacoby's merits another visit.

We loved this restaurant, we went for brunch on a Saturday, food was very good, the service was fast and good, very pleasant waitress. The outdoor is so cute, good vibes. A must go if you're visiting Austin.

great View, casual yet classy, great service, great atmosphere, great mood, spectacular food, great wine/beer/cocktail list. Walked from our table over to the crush granite patio that overlooks the river. Our appetizer was stuffed buns with barbecue meat. Got a delicious chicken fried steak mashed potatoes are probably the best I've ever had! Got a seasonal beer. Served on spackle wear very country. The appetizer was served on a vintage grandma plate. A very delicious strawberry cake with strawberry icing. I'm a baker and I give it a thumbs up.

We ate here with local friends we'd come into town to visit with, and overall it was a pleasant experience but an unfortunate example of modern upscale/downscale eateries who serve tarted-up ultra-premium versions of ordinary fare in a very self-consciously hipster atmosphere freighted with too-loud music and the inevitable corrugated "tin siding look" for a youngish (and apparently wealthy!) clientele covered with tattoos and piercings. Of course it's also the now inevitable "farm to table" thing, which a person might think would be cheaper than going through the old fashioned middleman/distributor like in the old days, but somehow works out to be twice as costly. Too, if we hadn't been on the lookout for the place we'd have driven right past it, as it's in a very unprepossessing part of town and might easily be taken as a wrecking yard if not for the hipster neon sign out front. One faces the same choice we'd seen in so many other places like this, namely sitting indoors where it's air-conditioned but with too-loud rock and roll music and too many people drinking and talking way too loudly, or outside where it's so hot and humid you feel queasy unless you're drinking something cold non-stop. They did at least have about 16 oscillating fans going outside, which helped cut the heat & sweat considerably. The "pickle selection" was too expensive and not very well made, though the rest of our dinner was good --- but you know what? I am not entirely comfortable paying $18 for a cheeseburger no matter how many descriptors it has. It's a cheeseburger, for pete's sake. Likewise for something like meatloaf, which was tasty to be sure…but for that money you'd expect practically the whole loaf and not something the size of a dinner roll. And I don't care how retro-hip it is, a "wedge" of tasteless iceberg lettuce is still tasteless iceberg lettuce, a former by-word for what's wrong with American cuisine. I was advised the (expensive) cocktails were good, but I'm just a beer guy, and the beers were good but the mugs were small.

Come hungry & kick back in one of the new places in Austin. Country twist with service you will enjoy. Great menu selection & we had the Bone-in Ribeye!!!! Perfection in quality & taste. They got this one right. Side selections offer a variety & we enjoyed. Thanks Jacoby's for bringing to Austin a Fun & well managed establishment. If you an sit outside, but call ahead & book as they get busy.

I made a reservation here for my family to celebrate my brother's birthday. We were seated at a picnic table outside. I know this is beyond the restaurant's control, but the mosquitoes were horrible, and the heat ruined the experience. Since I made a reservation, I feel that I should've been given the option for a table inside. Texas is very hot, even in October, and we were sweating our faces off throughout the meal, which isn't ideal. The food! Is fine, but overpriced. I got the vegetarian meatloaf, which was very good, but other family members had the chicken fried steak and pork with spaetzel. Frankly, the presentation and preparation was just too pretentious for the quality of the food. The service was good and the staff is friendly and approachable, but I wouldn't' come back.

Incredibly rude staff from the valets to the management. Asked our party to leave mercantile as we were taking up room? Not sure what the reason was. Sat us 20 minutes after reservation time, 20 more minutes after that they finally took our order. We asked wait staff if they could send someone to take our order and were told flatly “I’m not your waiter.” Ok. Forgot our appetizer order. Delivered order to one guests 10 minutes after everyone else’s. Guests had brought cake for celebration, and were not aware of restaurant policy of charging to serve outside food. Management told guest that they would have to pay $25 to have it served. Since I was the host of the party, the staff should have talked to me privately about this. Instead, they chose to embarrass my guests, who were surprised to see the cake served at dessert. Of course I agreed to pay for the cake to be served, but the situation was so awkward that the guests had thought their cake had been confiscated. By the end, we were laughing as to how incredibly rude Jacoby’s staff is, but really it wasn’t funny.

We ate outside, and I think if the weather was better it would be a cool outdoor space. The food was ok but nothing amazing and our waiter seemed a bit odd. I had the steak special which was alright, but nothing to write home about. We started with a root vegetable salad, they did not peel the parsnips. They had some gluten free options, but not overly impressed with this place and would not go back.
Good location main asset.
Patio looked very nice. Character is rustic which I guess is supposed to make people feel comfortable Too many mason jars. After sitting on the picnic bench for an hour, not too comfortable. Also extremely noisy. Food was Ok but expensive for "comfort food". Had appetizers(brussel sprouts, etc) but portions were small for items meant to share.Occupied by hipsters in flannel shirts
