Our 5 adult family members did the chef choice—it was delicious and sooo filling. Fresh, well prepared, tasty, nice variety. We def will go back.

Fresh $1 oyster shooters during Happy Hour..just for starters. Oysters are beautifully fresh local Pacic Oysters. The waitstaff told us each variety, which I can't recall right now. We ordered the Chef"s Menu which included 8 courses at a very reasonable price. The food was fresh and delicious, the presentation beautiful. There are excellent wine pairings to choose from. The best bang for your culinary buck I have seen so far. I am hoping for many happy returns.

My daughter took us to Jacqueline the last evening of our most recent trip to Portland. My wife had the crab toast with Hollandaise, which was very good. My daughter had a vegan dish with carrots. I had the green purée with three small fish cubes and arugula. I don’t know what to think about my dish. A nice little fish restaurant.

I wish I had a seafood restaurant like this in my neighborhood. We visited our daughter in Portland, she chose one seafood restaurant, Jacqueline's and I picked Southpark. Both are outstanding choices. I can't really pick a favorite between the two. Jacqueline's seems to have more of a neighborhood flavor and Southpark is grander. However, the presentation, choices of fine dishes and the service at both is five star! At Jacqueline's we arrived in time for Happy Hour and shared three dozen one dollar a piece oysters. At Southpark, we ate family style and should have received credit for cleaning everything off all of the plates.

First time visit, but definitely won't be my last! The food is great and the service is impeccable! The $1 oysters are the best happy hour specials, along with the house mignonettes.

except we got a 2 dozen oysters, a snack, 2 small plates, a salad and two entrees and I left hungry. Four of us for dinner and we were hosting so I wanted to make sure our guest were full. Everything was great. Especially the crab toast and smoked trout. The drinks were good and the coffee great. I should of gotten a filler like bread or potatoes. All fish and veggies. Go but get reservations, and get there earlier to get parking.

In a city that has a renowned culinary repertoire, this restaurant stands out. Not because of it's location or it's service, but of it's culinary prowess. While the menu descriptions are enticing, they do little justice for the actual experience. The magic that the kitchen delivers is note-worthy. A must-try...

AMAZING. Amazing food and nice service. Sat at the bar and had two starters and a cocktail each. Can't wait to go back for dinner.

Shhhh, don't tell! We love to come here for the $1 oyster happy hour. The variety of oysters changes daily based on what is fresh and available, but you really can't go wrong with any of them. I also love the little vials of different sauces - I usually choose the mignonette or just plain lemon, my husband like the spicy one. A couple dozen oysters and some rose is about the best happy hour I can think of! We have also eaten dinner at Jacqueline once, but we found it to be too fussy for our preference - too many opposing ingredients in each dish. It was if they were trying too hard to create something different and unique. When, in fact, a more streamlined dish would have made the ingredients shine. I suppose we should give it another try, as you can't always get a good sense of a restaurant after just one visit. Regardless, we will continue to enjoy their oyster happy hour!

Our daughter, who lives in SE Portland, took my wife and me to Jacqueline for dinner this past February before the pandemic hit. We shared a couple of platters of oysters with the sauces in the eyedroppers. I had the whole fish, which I devoured and left only the skeletal remains. Our daughter had taken us to Jacqueline during a visit two years ago. It is one of her favorite restaurants in Portland,

Unpretentious small restaurant with great food and attentive staff. Boned smoked trout was amazing. Get there for happy hour oysters at $1 for a fresh mix. The wine list is quite good and overall reasonably priced. Cannot wait to go back there.

This was the first of nine dinners on our vacation and was the best food. Great oyster selection and all the small plates were good, if not great. The final course, whole smoked trout, was unbelievably delicious. Lots of thought and creativity here.

fantastic restaurant. Amazing food, great service, fun drinks. Have been here twice and both times were memorable meals! If you do the tasting men- be prepared it is a ton of food!

Frankly, I can't remember much except loving it. Parking sucks. We started with fine wines and a huge selection of cheap oysters--lots of them. And a cioppino and a fresh baguette covered in cheddar and crab meat. I am getting hungry just thinking about it. Then went next door for some ice cream. We bugged the hell out of the staff and chef and they were all wonderful to us.

Ate at the bar. Very good service and great food. Had the Alaskan cod and was very good. 4 people in our party and we were all very pleased.

The fry fish of the night was halibut. I was served 3 pieces of halibut, French fries and a delicious coleslaw that had fennel as an ingredient. It was a perfect fish and chip dinner. We shared a dozen happy hour oysters to start. For desert we shared a piece of key lime pie that was perfection. The atmosphere is charming and the servers were efficient and friendly.

We stopped here on the way to dinner and enjoyed a dozen oysters. The chef served three different local oysters along with six droppers of flavors: Orange, horseradish, Tabasco, jalapeño are the ones I tried. Fun.

Loved this meal very much. Cute place with excellent food, some of the best we had in Portland. Everything was packed with flavor, really well prepared and good portions as well. We loved the Shrimp in fermented chili butter, seriously amazing flavor. Also recommend the whatever pasta dish they have, the night we were it it was amazing like everything else. Dungeness Crab toast was rich, heavy and really good. Good value as well. Highly recommended.

Delicious dinner- the service was great and laid back atmosphere. The server made great recommendations on wine and food- I loved the yellowtail crudo, beet salad and the salmon! You should order that exact meal- also loved the gamay to pair with the meal!! The dining room felt comfortable, busy but able to have a conversation easily! Great option for a special dinner out or time to connect with friends! I would make reservations!

We got stuck in PDX traffic, what else is news? And they held our table for a half hour! The place was jumping in Friday night & I can’t say enough good things about the service. We sampled several small plates that included the seasonal watermelon, berry, cantaloupe with feta salad ~ TDF! Followed by fresh burrata, peaches & small tomatoes~ again, killer. The fried green tomatoes were cut a little thick for my taste, but my husband saw this as his advantage & they were gone. Fried squash blossoms that were light and heavenly with a dash of sweetness from the honey. The yellowtail crudo with was amazingly fresh & juxtaposed with slices of grapefruit & avocado that just made me smile! We fought over the last bite. Again, the waitstaff were amazingly helpful & fun. Don’t hesitate to get your taste on!

A small but very popular place, especially for their Happy Hour oysters & cocktails! Service was impeccable! The prices are little on the higher end and the portions are on the smaller end. However, the food is top notch!

lovely little french influenced seafood and oyster bar here in town. didn't have a reservation on a week night which wasn't a good plan, but arrived at 6pm & we got two seats at the oyster bar instantly which is fine. do make a reservation. drinks are good, wines very good. full bar. food... oh so fine. Oysters- during happy hours 5-7 they are $1 each-- they pick and choose what you get. anything was great. fresh. opened and plated on ice right in front of my eyes. i could have had 2 dozen, but saved room for food. we ordered 3 small plate and one main dish. Smalls- Crab toast was stacked higher than one can imagine with crab meat on a long long piece of toast. just outstanding. hollandaise was light yet tangy with chiles in there too. salt cod fritters were server hot and were not overly oily and were amazingly airy. could eat them all day. had the little gem lettuces salad which had much crunch with egg and parmesan. good to change things up before... big plate ended with the Scallops in coconut curry with butternut squash and basil and mint and cilantro. Killer. Best scallops i've ever had-- large scallops, cooked perfectly with a browning on the outside, cooked throughout and the curry was just heavenly. we had to head downtown, so no desserts, but we will be back soon. park on streets nearby and do make a reservation- small place, very popular as you would expect. Prices were much more reasonable that I expected-- $45 with drinks each. for fresh seafood, a good deal. and those $1 oysters!

Ok not sure if it is actually the best, as I should have others to compare to, but we had a great experience. Come for the happy hour for the best deals. We of course get a dozen oysters and a tall boy. The oysters are on the small side, just the species I guess, on a bed of ice. They were fresh full of briny oyster liquor/juice. There are delicious droppers to enhance the flavors. Our favorite part. So tempted to get another dozen. We opted instead for the squid ink pasta calamari. It was okay but lacking in flavor.

Jacqueline is not the most elegant restaurant, but it gets a lot of things right. First, it is spacious. Tables aren't jammed next to each other, so the service is practical and comfortable for all concerned. It is also possible to carry on a conversation in a normal tone of voice - a real achievement for a good Portland restaurant! The drink program was strong. I was part of a party of four - we each ordered a different drink, and shared tastes. They were all distinct in personality, complex, and fun! The wine list was fairly extensive if somewhat obscure. I was a bit surprised that the list lacked a Viognier and Orvieto. So be ready to be a bit adventurous when selecting wine. The menu changes frequently, but features fresh seafood. The crab toast was exceptionally good, and had a bit of spice-driven kick. The scallops were perfectly prepared and nicely garnished. They are reputed to have a great cioppino, but it wasn't on the menu. All in all, there is a lot to like here!

What a delightful dining experience we had at Jacqueline last month while visiting our son in Portland. We saved this dinner for our last evening there and it was one of the best nights of our stay. First of all, everything on the menu looked delicious and we were debating about sharing a host of different items - until we noticed that they did a prix fix menu for the whole table. The chef gets to choose what he'll feed you, but you can make requests from the menu - which we did and he gave us those items and MORE! The dinner was spectacular. For the first course we were treated to Wagyu steak tartare, an Oregon rock fish ceviche tostada with smoked avocado, and Yellowtail crudo with avocado and grapefruit. Wow! Now I suppose the whole menu really was a tasting menu, so the first course and the main course all blended together. Next came Fried squash blossoms with sheep's milk cheese and buckwheat honey, Dungeness crab toasts with saffron hollandaise, Diver scallops with a lime leaf coconut curry (yum yum yum), and Seared halibut with a tomato pomodoro sauce - cooked to perfection. And for dessert, Key lime pie and a Chocolate fragiapone! Amazingly, we enjoyed every bite - in the right proportions and didn't feel like we had overeaten. A delicious bottle or rose complimented the meal, and we left so happy that we had chosen this wonderful Portland eatery. Our kudos to the chef!

Oysters were good. Service terrible. Manager, terrible. Beware self-serving staff, and management. Customers are business, but not as important as the staff. Avoid this self-serving restaurant!

Our family dined at this restaurant last Saturday as first timers. The menu looks so attractive and so are the reviews. We ordered crab toast , the radicchio salad for appertizer and the black cod, scallops, and octopus as main dishes. The portion of the main dishes are kinda small and there is almost no vegetables on the side. We only liked were the salad an the octopus, the rest didn't taste anything special. The black cod was way too smoky and salty , sadly this one is one of the most expensive dish ! We should have ask for refund . Sorry, we weren't impressed.

In a city with lots of good seafood restaurants Jacqueline is outstanding. Oysters at happy hour (5-7PM) are superb quality and a bargain at $1 apiece. We had 4 dozen. Other excellent appetizers were Wagyu steak tartare (OK, not seafood but delicious) and smoked black cod with mildly pickled chanterelles. The only main our party of 4 had room for was terrific king salmon. We did manage 2 portions of their wonderful goat milk pannacotta with cranberries and waffle crumbs. Reservations are essential.

To begin with I have to say I hate the pretentious restaurants popping up in Portland. For some crazy reason the more stuff you put into dishes the better they think they are. Does everything need cheese in it? How about simple food made perfect? Just saying. It was very difficult find anything that looked good to me. The table shared a few dishes that were forgettable. I settled on the fried fish. I don’t usually eat fried foods but it was the only food that wasn’t meat or with heavy sauce. It happened to be very good but I asked the waitress (who was pretty terrible) to serve it without the head. She wasn’t sure she could. Really!!! Not going back anytime soon.

If you love Seafood, you will love this place. My family and I had an excellent dining experience. The menu has ample choices of cold or hot dishes. We tried a good selection of cold and warm dishes. The prices are very reasonable and the service was excellent and friendly. I don’t think you can go wrong ordering any of the items. If you are sensitive to environment noise like I am ask to sit in the back room. I will be going back soon again.

This is THE place to go if you love seafood. We did the tasting menu? Plus a couple dozen oysters to start off. Every dish was over the top good. A five- course meal that involved at least 8 different dishes. Many dishes not on the regular menu. Not to miss.

We just had our first meal at this wonderful restaurant. The food is understated and absolutely exquisite. We started with a lovely small plate of Sturgeon that was slightly smoked. Had nasturtium leaves that were edible to adorn and absolutely perfect. Then had a lovely Barata cheese with fresh apricot that was understated and lovely. We ended up splitting a main dish of there half chicken that was simply prepared with sourdough bread in the chicken juice and a lightly flavored green. Just perfect. The wait staff was professional and like their food had a light touch. Can't wait to go back. Last year, Tusk what's my favorite new Portland restaurant. This year it's Jacqueline!

We have been to this restaurant for both happy hour and regular dining. Both times the food was very good. The fresh oysters selections are varied and very very fresh. Service was good. A bit more "formal" - good distance from each table. Noise levels were decent so you could have a real conversation and hear your dining mates. We've gone back several times - will keep on visiting.

The service and food here was wonderful. Happy hour oysters are a great deal. Good selection of mixed drinks. I felt the choices of wine by the glass we good but limited. Halibut was excellent. Mussels stew equally good. My major concern was noise. The venue was a bit quieter as St Jack. Not a great place to converse over dinner.

Stumbled upon this quaint seafood/veg joint while exploring. While portions lean toward the anemic side size-wise, the execution generally is quite nice. Menu changes frequently and $1 oyster happy-hour isn't bad either. Service can range from sharp to inconsistent and tad pricier than most.

This was the best meal I’ve had in a very long time. We all enjoyed trying various dishes. Quality ingredients made with love and care. We enjoyed oysters, sweet potato rolls, salmon entrees, Radicchio salad, Dungeness crab toast, pasta with ox tail, wood plank trout and 2 desserts.

The menu is a marvel of creative dishes, virtually all with some seafood aspect. You could easily dine contentedly with multiple starters and salads. All the dishes reflect what is fresh and local. Every dish we tried was a symphony of tastes, and they were beautiful to boot. Don't miss this restaurant.

It’s a small , Neighborhood gem. Really inventive menu, great service a a neat atmosphere. Try the trout, really special. Their starters are also very good . You will need a reservation. Give it a try.

A small cozy restaurant in a neighborhood setting that is turning out top notch food. Reservations are recommended even for happy hour especially on weekend. We had a dinner reservation and arrived at the tail end of happy hour. Our waitress nicely offered the $1 oyster special and we ordered 6 of those and 3 Capital and 3 Sea Cow oysters. We would return just for the deep oyster menu. Martini and Cosmo were good. The halibut was the freshest and best I have ever had while spouse liked her cavatelli. Finished with a pear brandy and planned our return.

My girlfriends treated me to birthday dinner here and what a treat it was. Tucked away in an up and coming SE Portland neighborhood, it is not a restaurant you would just stumble upon. (Note: Street Parking is limited - best to UBER here). I believe the restaurant is actually located in the former St. Jack's building (now in NW) and is really, really charming, warm and welcoming. Menu wise, there are many appetizers and small plates and 4-5 entrées - was difficult to choose. Our table started with the Oysters which are served with little dropper bottles of flavorings (horseradish, etc) - I'm not an oyster lover, but those who had them raved. I ended up ordering two small plates instead of entrée because I just couldn't resist the idea of gnocchi with crab - wow! Bartender was very talented as well and were wowed by his concoctions. The only reason I didn't give this restaurant 5 stars was because the white wine by the glass selection was limited in my opinion. Looking forward to returning!

Shucker's choice, a dozen a piece oysters are amazingly buttery, perfectly chilled and shucked with care. The oysters stand alone, however, house tinctures--tiny eyedroppers full of goodness, especially the horseradish vinegar, are a wonderful addition to the oyster experience. The grilled octopus is, without a doubt, something special. The best, most tender tentacles I have ever eaten. Get in line early for this special happy hour experience.

The happy hour oysters for a buck each are the best deal going. Firm, fresh, briny. We also had small plates of gem lettuce salad, Brussel sprouts, and the lobster roll and crab toast. Plenty of food in all for 2, and the lobster roll, while bun size, was worth it. Also had an excellent olive cake dessert.

We got there early enough for oyster happy hour ($1 per shucked oyster). Jacqueline serves its shucked oysters with small eyedropper bottles filled with different vinegars and sauces. The oysters were excellent and some of the sauces were standouts. We got a series of small plates to share. Portions aren't large, but the food was both creative and delicious.

Delicious and local best place to eat on the east side for sure. I like to sit at the oyster bar with my guy and eat as many as I can.

We enjoyed the creativity and taste of the dishes we ordered but we expected more fresh seafood options for entrees. Service was friendly but much slower than what we like. Super casual and great for a younger crowd

We had two seats at the end of the bar (closest to the wall) great seats, fun atmosphere, amazing cocktails, wine, appetizers, and an fluid team delivering the best meals we’ve had in a long time! The entire staff works so well together and it all shines through in the food, the energy and the overall experience. We are so happy we made the reservation to come here. Highly recommended and well worth the price. Wow, the food was so good! Burrata, oysters, smoked black cod, and the halibut, so fresh and so tastey just unreal.

Finally got a reservation for girls relaxation dinner and we could not hear each other talk across the table! Our first seating was on the main area....then moved more to the back near the window. Still, could not hear each other. Oysters at happy hour prices 5-7pm $1/each with various vinegar was a deal! The waiter never returned with clean plates, so we ate our meal on the same plates with salty oyster water on it. Not so good. We ordered 6 plates to share, all were quite tasty. We told our waiter about the pesky flies that were on the window next to us and asked him to please get rid of them. Didn't happen. We will not return unless the acoustics improve dramatically. A shame that we could not enjoy conversation with the great food.

This was our first time dining at Jacqueline (and definitely not our last). We arrived at 5:10 (happy hour starts at 5:00) and scored two seats at the bar. We started with drinks, a beer and Rock the Boat cocktail (blanco tequila, singani, avez, absinthe, strawberry mint and agave gastrique, lime, rocks), and my first half-dozen Tide-to-Table raw oysters ($1 each at happy hour). Oysters are served with a tin of five eyedropper-bottles of custom vinegars and hot sauces for fun mixing. They were so delicious I had to have more. We ordered the dungeness crab toast (with saffron hollandaise, calabrian chilies and fennel pollen) and it was amazing. Our entrees were the crispy fried whole sea bass (with cashew salsa macha, cilantro, lime) and the scallops (with confit pork cheek, asparagus, turnip, rhubarb umeboshi, myoga) and they were outstanding. For dessert we had the burrata with red and green strawberries, basil and pistachios. Fabulous evening! Jacqueline is a quaint SE neighborhood seafood restaurant with an impressive menu, incredible food and exceptional staff. If you like raw oysters, catch the 5:00 to 7:00 happy hour!

We discovered Jacqueline through a email we received and, though we live in the neighborhood, we had never visited there. Three of us went for dinner late one evening and had a delightful experience. Their menu, which is chiefly seafood, was creative and interesting and contained plenty of options. Our server was friendly, professional, and very helpful with answering our questions and making suggestions. There were enough beers, wines and cocktails listed to make good selections and our server helped pair beverages to what we were going to eat. The food and drink arrived promptly, was well presented at proper temperature and tasted delicious. The sound level was low-moderate making conversation possible. The setting was fairly small and intimate but comfortable and informal. We will return as the menu offered more temptations than we could consume in one evening.

We had dinner at Jacqueline's with a party of six and when we arrived we were greeted immediately with a friendly smile and taken to our table. The atmosphere is welcoming and pretty. The kitchen is in the back corner where you can see the food being prepared so no secrets as to what the kitchen looks like and you can tell the chefs how much you enjoyed your meal! We all enjoyed our meals very much and fantastic dessert to boot! I will definitely be back for more.

I traveled for business to Portland for the first time and had to go somewhere to get seafood. I found this little place not too far from the hotel. On arrival the place was very quaint. Not what I expected. My co-workers and I sat at the oyster bar. When in Rome! I had never had oysters and they were great! The crab toast was delicious and the King salmon was very good. A great little place to check out if you're in town.

Jacqueline is a small seafood that is NOT TO BE MISSED. Three friends and I had dinner and it was outstanding. Freshly shucked oysters were $1 each til 7 p.m. We had cod fritters and dungeness crab gnocchi, venison tartar and octopus with pork belly. My friend had halibut. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We will be going back real soon.

I live in Portland and me and my husband go out a lot. I had avoided this place because I have a gluten and dairy allergy and it is "french." What a fool I am! They are incredibly accommodating and know their ingredients. The drinks were fabulous, the oyster happy hour had us swooning, and then we hit the menu. In a town that seems to go in fads (apparently fried chicken is on deck right now), Jacqueline is inventive, fun, and the flavors had us dancing in our seats. IMHO, this is easily the best restaurant in Portland right now (with Canard a close second). My husband had the lobster roll and said it was better than any we had on Long Island (no offense, NY). The scallops were fantastic as was the summer squash dish. We went last week and are going back tonight. Note: People know about this place and there is a line to get in at 5 for the Happy Hour. It's totally worth it. But they also take reservations! (What? In Portland??) Service is efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. Enjoy! We had bubbly, a couple of cocktails and multiple dishes for $150 for the 2 of us. Left sated, but not overfull, which is perfect. We both thought it was great bang for the buck.

My daughter took us here for my birthday dinner. Very intimate and fun place. They have a happy hour from 5-7 pm with $1 oysters in season. WOW! Food was very well made and 5 of us enjoyed our plates immensely. We started with the oysters (of course) and then had apps of Salt Cod Fritters which i did not particularly like but my wife and daughter enjoyed, then we shared the Hama Hama and smoke potatoes. For main courses we hd the Crudo, Gnocci and the Scallop dishes all of which we liked very much. Wine list was not as broad as I would have liked, but the house wines were good and we were there for a meal before a theater performance so being hungry and happy with oysters made it all very good. Service was excellent and fun.

We arrived early for the $1.00 oysters and $10.00 glasses of Oregon Pinot Gris (happy hour 5 to 6:00 and limit 2 dozen oysters). They are shucking oysters like crazy behind that bar, so fresh, and most delicious. The oysters came with five different selections of sauce for you to try out, all interesting, but we mainly stayed with the simple squeeze of fresh lemon. From oysters on the half-shell starter, we selected the whole cedar planked trout. It comes out looking like the whole fish, but it has been deboned from the inside. You’re left with just lots of yummy cedar planked trout and no bones to deal with. It was excellent and while it appears to be the priciest item on the menu, it was well worth it and it’s a sizable trout that the two of us shared and it filled us up. Of course we did start out with one dozen raw oysters each and burata with apricots and Marion berries!

Fun. Yup, that's the word that immediately comes to mind when describing my experience at restaurant Jacqueline. The decor. The general ambiance. The location. Everything is inviting and enjoyable. Yes, it's a heck of a location to inherit - given the previous restaurant tenets - and, the new proprietors are doing a great job. We were a table of 5. Not an easy task in the small spaces of the restaurant layout - but they accommodated us perfectly. This was especially true around the service - which was fantastic. Perhaps some of the best service I've ever had at a Portland restaurant. As for the food - we had a wide variety of items, all of which were very nice. From the oysters (Happy Hour special) to the braised pork (not that the menu indicates, but the pork is prepared in a Korean BBQ style format - and it is great). The wide selection of fish dishes was really nice, and we ordered a couple of different plates. The clams, prepared in a unique Béarnaise sauce, were awesome. The best thing on the menu for me. Everything, I mean it - was really good. And, with that said, my piece of advice to any would-be diners - order "family style" and share the bounty. Yes, the menu directs you to the three main dishes (listed on the menu as Family Style) - but we shared everything and it allowed for a more eclectic evening and certainly gave us a good range of the menu options.

There was 4 of us - we enjoyed the Portland dinning month option with 3 fixed menu items and it was wonderful. The wine flight that was suggested was very well aligned with the food selections. The restaurant is small and easy to have a discussion - suggest you make a reservation - it fills up easily. They have a full bar and a a la cart menu as well with some wonderful choices. I have not tired however they are well know for wonderful oyster selection.

Had a lovely dinner at Jacqueline last week. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of white wine and shared a number of small plates so I could get all kinds of different seafood. We had the lobster bun, yellowtail crudo, Dungeness crab toast, and squid ink pasta. I thought the first three were awesome and squid ink pasta pretty good. We ended the meal with lovely peanut butter brownie dessert. I would definitely go back next visit!

We found ourselves in the Hawthorne district right at 5 pm. Rather than fight the traffic we decided to find a restaurant for dinner. Jacqueline’s was a delightful surprise. They had a table available until 7 pm. The menu had several vegetarian selections including Delicata squash....very delicious. Along with the fantastic lobster mushroom pasta and a whole sea bass, our dinner was complete. My one disappointment...the $5 charge for a baguette.

So here's what's funny - we originally came here for oysters (amazing happy hour price) and ended up sticking around longer and ordering more. Fresh oysters and yellowtail. The burrata and charred octopus also delicious. Cute interior concept, very welcoming. Good cocktails. We liked this place so much, came here the following day while visiting Portland to try other stuff on the menu.

Small place with an oyster bar in the back room. Good "Bill Murray" atmosphere. Arrived in time for happy hour and was greeted to $1 oysters. Small and salty. Delicious. Ordered the gnocchi and crab as well as the scallops in a coconut curry with butternut squash. Both were killer. Outstanding flavors. Service and attitude great. I want to go again soon. Paid $100 for 'sters, app, two entrees and three drinks.

A really cozy, vibrant vibe on Clinton Street. Smallish but full of characters. Superb seafood and a $1 oyster @ happy hour - even on Friday (and you can sit in the dinning room). The Dungeness crab, poke & steak tartar were all delicious. The whole fried sea bass with Asian herbs is a must. Good wine list with interesting finds from Italy & Spain

Caveat: we've only been exploring for one month, but this was the first exceptional dining experience, elevating all the 'very good' It's a small restaurant but vibrant atmosphere. Cocktails are inventive and well balanced. The treat was the oysters, which are on happy hour from 5-7pm. They are fresh caught from Puget sound and come with 5 housemade sauces (champagne mignonette a favorite but also red and green Tabascos, horseradish vinegar and another herbed vinegar). We shared many dishes including the ahi crudo, prawns, agnolotti, sea bass, fried squash blossoms and lobster bun. We tried all their desserts (chocolate cake, panna cotta, and an exotic key lime pie with pistachio crumble). Every dish was superb and would look forward to going back.

A seafood restaurant offering fresh sustainably sourced options ... is ok. Makes sense to avoid oysters in July ... so remove them from menu. No trout in Oregon ? Hard to believe. Appetizer that shined was yellowtail crudo. Fried tomatoes, squash blossoms just ok... oil must not have been hot enough. Monday featured fish fry: halibut ok ..roasted potatoes good. Scallops overpowered by pork belly flavor. With so many fresh vegetable options, there weren't many included w the entres. Desert - panacotta and a peach cobbler were good, but not enough to cause a return visit. Restroom really needed a larger trash can or cleanup. Service polite, but just ok (after spilling beer on the table, waitstaff took other orders before wiping it up).

This restaurant was recommended to us by a young local. We tried to get a reservation, but they were booked up so we showed up as they opened and were able to score a small table in the back. We were fortunate to get a seat, but be aware in this part of the restaurant the tables are VERY close so you won't have much privacy for intimate conversation. (The table two down from us was annoying as they were talking loudly and constantly using their cell phones to take selfies and make calls!) The seating aside, the menu is an interesting one which favors foodies. Unfortunately, we don't eat oysters which is the most popular item on their menu and something for which they are known. It was fun to have a view of the fresh oysters being shucked behind the oyster bar by a very efficient shucker! Service was excellent. I had the halibut special which was a small plate as advertised but enough to fill me up. My husband had the fisherman's stew which was huge and could easily have served two or three people. It is listed as a family dish so I am thinking it's intended to be shared, but he managed to finish it all. Server was great about offering us a wine to taste before we ordered, and there was a good selection of beverages. It was a bit on the pricey side but in keeping with the area. Not an extremely extensive menu, but a little too creative for my liking though I recognize I am probably in the minority in that regard.
Wonderful dinner with flawless service in an intimate and nicely lit small restaurant
warm crusty bread and sweet butter to start. But the black cod and the gnocchi were wonderful, with lovely Oregon white wine to complement the meal. Fish was poached to perfection with wonderful greens and tangy flavors. I have to hand it to Jacqueline--a first-rate dinner and we'll be back
