Very satisfying: delicious, excellent value

By ASASG_7 |

Taken there by a local who warned me it's often packed even though its a fairly big place. Doesn't look great from the outside but inside it's bright and airy.. Since we got to the Jade Garden at 2 pm on a Tuesday it wasn't full - but hoppin' busy even so. It's the kind of place that has menu items you can order, a wipe board of daily specials, and trollies rolling around with stacks of dim sum and side dishes to choose from. We had the bao buns spilled with bbq pork (pillowy soft outside, deliciousness inside), the ginger pork, the scallops, and a pork-seafood combo. All were really excellent. Bill including tax was just over $20. Will absolutely head here next time I'm in town. Yum!

Best thing about it is the food.

Been going here on and off since 2008, tonite was first time in almost two years. Seattle Chinatown is, frankly, a mess. Panhandlers and druggies on the streets, dirty sidewalks, but in all honesty it has been that way ever since I have been going there. The restaurant is standard Chinese (as opposed to Chinese-American made for the dollars of non Chinese as opposed to native Chinese people): crowded, not exactly spotless, disgusting bathrooms, waiters who are indifferent to non-existent. So I tried a solo by myself at 600 PM and was hungry for dim sum. Of course they charge more at nite - it's about double the price - as at lunchtime they have probably a half dozen cooks or more turning out dim sum by the tons. No orders then, they just come around as in other dim sum special places. But at night they have to cook it special and thus the longer wait and higher price. The proof of the pudding is not the less than spotless place or the vanishing waitstaff. It is the food one comes for, and at that they still shine. Dim sum has two qaulities: the near gossamer dumpling skin, and what it contains. If the dough is too skimpy or undercooked it peels off to nothingness. If it is too doughy and too thick and overstrained, it is too chewy and leathery. Theirs is perfection. Or was tonite. The 4 dim sums I ate: shrimp and scallop dumpling, two orders of pork siao mai, shrimp (two huge pieces in each) dumpling, and beef balls were tasty, fresh, perfectly spiced with fragrance, and delicious. 5 dishes plus tea and water and tax was $27. The food is good, to quite good. The rest of it brings the average down. I'll go again, at lunchtime, and forget the condition of the place and where it is.

Get out of the rain!

A great place to duck in and get out of the rain. Tasty treats including Chau siu bau my favorite dim sum! Ginger Beef was excellent. Both the chicken and beef cuts of meat are better than what we have seen in years.

Amazing authentic food!

Since the moment me and my mate entered we knew we was in great hands. Service was absolutely wonderful and of course the food was perfect. Delicious delicious delicious! Highly recommend the Special sizzling Chow Mein with Curry sauce, was very nice. Highly recommend if your in Rochester and looking for a bite.

Good food, long wait

By Sheena P |

My friends and I stopped by to get some Dim Sum. This was my time trying Dim Sum and the food was good. Some of the Dim Sum was a little bit too doughy for me, but that is how they are made, so overall still really delicious. Would recommend making reservations before coming to this place. The wait if you do not make reservations is about an hour and with a reservation about 30-45 minutes. Overall, great service for a great price. Would recommend stopping by if you are looking for some good food at a good price.

Heard great things but expected more

We went for a family birthday dinner. My siblings had raved about this place. I was worried about having a Gluten free menu/food. They made me a rice noodles soup with a few steamed veggies. The broth was lack luster. I appreciated the gesture of making me something. The few bites I tried of other food seemed bland and covered in heavy overly sweet sauces. We didn't order any dumplings as they do seem to have a large dumpling selection. I probably wouldn't go back.

Yummy dim sum with all the classic selections :))

By G C |

This is one of our favorite spots in Seattle to satisfy our cravings for dim sum :)). We really enjoy their standard offerings (eg har gow, shu mai), as well as their specialties too. This place is very popular and can thus get quite busy... if you’re able to stop in a bit early — and can visit during the weekdays, this’ll help you get a table without a super long wait... enjoy!

Average in all respects

By Swimfins |

While their selection of DimSum is wide, the flavors really aren’t that deep. The pork dumplings were good, but after a liberal application of hot sauce. I didn’t try the shrimp based dumplings, but they seem to have been enjoyed around the table. The fried rice was average at best. The restaurant is very crowded and busy, and they probably have more seats in there than the fire marshal would be happy about. The atmosphere isn’t very nice - too loud and crowded. Service was hurried. I’ll find another place next time.

Not impressed

By Sharon Z |

We figured when there was a line and most people looked Asian and local that this would be really good. In general we were unimpressed. It is noisy, the waitresses are hard to understand, the food on the dim sum has been sitting there and is not hot and fresh, getting something ordered off the menu was a trial. Between the hassle of finding parking, the wait in line and the meh quality of the food surely there has to be a better place for Chinese food in Seattle.

One of the best dim sum restaurants in Seattle Chinatown

By K T |

Jade Garden restaurant has been around for many years and it's still going strong. It's one of the best dim sum Chinese restaurants in Seattle Chinatown. It's extremely popular, so be prepared to wait for a while over the weekend.

Good but long line

By jeannezimmerman96 |

we got here about 9am, and there was a line already. we waited there about 15 minutes then the waitress took us to a table. i tried many of their dim sum but my favorite was the white bun with sweet cream inside. over all good experience.

Ordinary food, and lots of it.

By TBearden |

From the outside the place looks like a dive in a rather questionable neighborhood. It's not much better inside. It's pretty dark and of questionable cleanliness. We were greeted with barely concealed contempt and the service went downhill from there. The waiter was deeply unfriendly and visibly distressed when we asked for menu recommendations. Even so, he had us order far too much food which, unfortunately, was pretty standard mid-range Chinese fare. At least it was pretty cheap. The only thing that stood out was how unwelcome we were made to feel.

dim sum

By Edmund1020 |

This place is a lot bigger on the inside than it looks, so don't be daunted if you see lots of people waiting. They really turn out the dim sum, so you can on it to be fresh and hot. They don't have a lot of variety but what they do, they do it well.

Our go-to place for dim sum in Seattle

By Louise M |

Every time we visit I wish we had a place like this in Denver where we could get delish dim sum. The food was fantastic as always with lots of selection, and we had brought first-time dim summers with us. The Chinese broccoli is delicious but you usually have to request it. Almost everything else is meat based, so we consider it an essential dish to order. The only negative was that after we had chosen more than enough dishes to try, the server pushed the salt and pepper calamari on us. We said no, but he was pretty insistent so we said okay. It was so salty it was unpalatable. We called him over and said we didn't want it because it was too salty. He said they'd make another one, which again, we hadn't asked for in the first place. The second one came out so fast I suspect that they took it to the kitchen , dropped it back in the fryer briefly and brought it back out. It was still too salty for most of the table and it was the only food we didn't finish. We were also disappointed that they were out of sesame balls, which has happened before. It is the dessert I look forward to after eating dim sum, so we had to find some later at Pike Place market.

Good Dim Sum

By didoArkansas |

We got there on a Sunday right before noon and this place was packed. We were told that it was going to be about a twenty minute wait but it was closer to an hour in a tightly packed waiting area. However once we got seated the service was prompt and very good. This has also been our least expensive meal from a week of dining in Seattle by far. Note: hard to understand the waiter's English so you may end up ordering something with no idea of what you are getting. You may want to study a few pictures of Dim Sum prior to visiting.

Fun Restaurant for Dim Sum

By Cathy R |

Went with girlfriends for Dim Sum ... always fun to try a few new dishes - usually served with 4 on a plate! We tried 4-5 shrimp dishes plus ended up with a lemon tart dessert. The bill for 4 of us was $31!! Left with full and happy tummies!!

Possibly best dim sum in Seattle

By Steven T |

This place is mostly known for their dim sum. They do arguably the best dim sum in Seattle. They also serve dim sum all day long, even up to 3:30 A.M., their weekend closing time. However, come here earlier in the day if you want to get fresh dim sum. If you come here for late night dim sum just know it will have been made earlier that day. They also serve a very respectable Cantonese menu including live seafood tanks. Their menu is a fraction of other places in Chinatown so if there is a dish you want but don’t see on the menu just ask and they will likely be able to make it for you. Portions and prices are comparable to other places in Chinatown.

Quick service and friendly staff. Foods are excellent and have the real Hong Kong Dim Sum taste. Easy to find in International town and it's walking distance from my hotel.

Much better this time

By rusty_fwg |

It's been a few years since we were last here. Service much better this time, and the food amazing. Make sure you spring for the Peking duck. I think it's the best we've had in the ID. I should have written down the dumpling we tried but it was amazing. Top right of the dim sum menu. Tofu, mushrooms and shrimp wrapped in seaweed. So amazing with a little of their home made chili sauce. I tried buying some of the sauce but they wouldn't budge!!😉 Top notch Chinese food.

Take a group to this restaurant

By Annette F |

I think I've eaten here with my husband on a Seattle visit. This trip was with a moderately sized family group. They graciously accommodated all of us and our various needs. Each member ordered a different dish and there was just way too much food - almost all good. I ordered the special chicken which was basically very bland with a tasty, gingery sauce to put on it. It was a good meal with good service

Tasty Dim Sum

By Neta_Avivi |

Good selection pf dim sum of all kinds. The good news is that there was no line at all getting to the restaurant (while on the weekend we had to wait over 30 minutes in line).

Not bad lunch

By seemyeyes |

We went early to dim sum the food was hot and fresh. Make sure that you call ahead for large parties. We came early at 10:30 am and there were already people eating and waiting. Good Chinese food.

Good quality dim sum but limited menu

By BarryV954 |

Jade Garden offers traditional Chinese cuisine and a small selection of flavorful, well prepared dim sum. The dim sum are very generous portions and reasonably priced. The steamed barbecued pork buns (bao) were filled with a very tasty pork and were bursting open although the bun was a bit dry. The pork shumei were about 50% larger than typical. They had a great flavor and plenty of tender pork. The steamed egg custard buns were much more tender than the pork bao and contained a fairly sweet ball of egg custard in the center. Shrimp and scallop dumplings were likewise huge and overstuffed. From the traditional menu we sampled the century old egg and salted pork congee. The flavor was not a rich as I have had elsewhere although the consistency of this rice porridge was spot on. The special ginger chicken however was amazing. I rarely eat the chicken skin in Asian restaurants but this was delicious and not at all fatty. The fried pork chops were crisp yet moist and nicely seasoned with garlic and scallion. Service at Jade Garden was attentive and friendly. A good spot for dinner.

Best dim sum in Seattle

By Anna_Gray |

We have been coming to Jade Garden for years. It is old-school classic dim sum. The staff is efficient, and the food is consistently well prepared. The place was vandalized during the pandemic, so it may still be boarded up when you visit but do not let that dissuade you from supporting this wonderful local business.

THE BEST IN CHINATOWN

By tnc901 |

Eating dimsum in HKG is a everyday meal, Jade Garden make me feel like eating at home or even better. I've tried some other resturant nearby, I still want to go back for thier consistency & decency.

Wonderful food, great Experience

By Wanderer0213 |

We had a great experience, wonderful food and the service was fast and helpful. They have pretty large menu to choose from, everything we ordered was great! You can walk to this restaurant from Pioneer Square in about ten minutes. Plenty of parking close. They don't have a full bar, but have beer. If I am back in the area, I will stop again.

Excellent Dim Sum

By Wildwoodatheart |

This place isn't much to look at from the outside, but the insiders know it is worth venturing inside. We were seated right away on the night we were there. The decor inside is nothing fancy, but the food is the main reason to come here. Service was fast. We had dim sum, so we ordered a whole bunch of dishes. Everything was very good. I don't even know what some of the dishes were. It all tasted so good. And of course, we ended up taking some home. Prices were quite reasonable. This may just be our go-to dim sum place from now on.

Visiting in honor of a friend.

By Natsharudy |

Our dear friend from China brought us here many years ago. We are back remembering the delicious food she ordered for us. I wish she was here now but she lives far away. My husband loves every dish.

Excellent traitional dim sum

By Stan Y |

Food is excellent, price is great, but the service is just average. Meanwhile, it still is one of the best dim sum place in Seattle. I've heard the good reputation of this place for a long time. However the place was always occupied and the parking situation in China town is simply terrible. Finally last week I got a chance to try its dim sum. The place really lives to its reputation. The environment is just like any other dim sum places in China town. Loud crowd, narrow space, waiter never smiles. However the food is much better than other restaurants. Just a bite and you can tell the seafood is fresher, the seasoning is more balanced, and even the complimentary tea is the better quality. My most favorite one is the pan fried dumpling with shrimp and chive fillings. The shrimp is very fresh and largely portioned. The flavor of chive is brought out by the pan fry, but not over powering the shrimp. Two flavors combined nicely creating delicious scent and taste. Excellent execution. Another favorite is the pan fried radish cake. Soft tender texture, with the radish's sweetness and sausage's saltiness well mixed. Again, same dish like other Chinese restaurants but extraordinary delicious. The price is good too. We ordered 7-8 dishes for three adults and the bill was $37. This is a great deal. The only complain is the service kind of slow and only two carts running around, so the waiter is very busy. But compare with the superb food and cheap price, it's not a big deal. No wonder the place is always packed with long waiting line.

Delicious and quick service

By Elizabeth L |

We could not agree more with all the superb reviews this restaurant has earned. We stopped here for an early dinner. Everything was just delicious and reasonably priced. The service was also excellent. Highly recommend it!

Food was OK - Service Not The Best For First Timers

By Philip |

First time to Chinatown in Seattle. Always wanted Chinese food from a place in Chinatown. Walked in and it was busy but another patron said it was worth the wait. We ended up sharing a large table with other guests we didn't know just to reduce the wait. So far so good. They set us down with a card for Dim Sum but never explained the process on how to order and the guests next to us were first timers too. So eventually we figured it out as the staff doesn't speak much English and I speak no Chinese. Anyway Dim Sum was relatively good and the food was inexpensive. So if you know what your doing then I think this is a good place eat otherwise for a tourist like myself I should stick to Clam Chowder and Halibut down in the Pike Place.market area.

Wasn’t disapponted

By Janet C |

After reading reviews, We couldn’t decide which restaurant to choose in Chinatown so we went there and walked around to check them out. We chose Jade Garden because it looked busy and had many Asian customers. We were not disappointed. The general Taos chicken was excellent. We also ordered fried rice and orange chicken. Be aware portions are huge. The chicken dishes could serve 3 people but we managed to eat everything

Good food

By mabinho |

This place looks like it has seen better days, but the weary decor is part of its charm. The food is good standard fare, served without frills.

Great fun, met new people!

By Ty R |

The restaurant is very popular and busy, so as a way to get sat faster we (2 people) agreed to share a table. When we sat down we got to chat with a local couple and a couple from out of town (we being from Alaska). Food was great, wide variety and healthy portions. Good value for food. Will definitely visit next time I’m in town.

All Day Dim Sum

By m w |

Wonderful dim sum all day long. At end of day some dishes may be out, but still has good selection. Order vegetable dishes off menu. Prawn walnut dish was excellent as was their bau dishes. Stay safe, be alert. My advice is to take 3rd party transportation. Street parking is nearby if you have a car.

Holy Shrimp!

By rntravelbug |

The best shrimp I have ever eaten. Fresh and hot on everything. Definetly you must try the shrimp and veg egg rolls. Ask for a side of sweet and sour sauce, you won't regret it!

Nice Evening For My Visiting Family...

By gcleff11 |

Very nice birthday dinner for my 15-year old nephew from Vermont, and a great experience for their whole family visiting the International District. Food was very well prepared, with one hiccup: the duck for the Peking Duck. It was yesterday's duck, if you know what I mean. It wasn't bad, but I could tell, based on previous duck experiences for me in the ID. That said, my brother did not notice and proclaimed it delicious, and that's really all that matters. Star of the show was definitely their pan-fried pork dumplings, that can best be described as massive. The whole table pined for more. Service was excellent--but be advised--this was an evening's dining experience, and it all was very relaxed and to some it would be considered....slow. Not an issue for us, because we were enjoying the family company. They also provided a special moment for the birthday boy, with a beautiful mango pudding in the shape of a shark with a candle to blow out. A very nice touch to end the evening...

Best Dim Sum I've had in years!

By MitchHellman |

It's hard to find good dim sum; it requires a lot of handling to make it, it doesn't keep long, customers demand a large variety of choices, etc. As a result, most Chinese restaurants either don't make it, or will only make it at certain times and days; some others have you choose from a menu and make it to order, but somehow it typically doesn't taste as good as it does at Jade Garden, where they push around carts of various dim sum delicacies. The big advantage of the pushcart system is that you can see (and smell) the available items, which promotes spur-of-the-moment decisions that you can't really do when you have to use a menu. The place looks a little run down, and the local health department has rated it as "OK" (there are four possible ratings: "Needs to improve," "OK," "Good," and "Excellent"), but the place was mostly full when we went at 11:00 AM on a weekday, had a fifty-fifty mix of Asian and non-Asian patrons, and had a line out the door by the time we left. All the standard dim sum items were available, and they even took requests for some lesser-known delicacies (one of our party was craving something with crab in it). I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Lower than my expectations

By Bonnie W |

We chose this restaurant because of most of the comments were super positive. We came with high expectation. But when we tried, it did not stand out among those Chinese restaurants we had been to. We had ordered two stirred fried vegetables, forgot to take pictures for the other one. These two were really good. The timing and the taste were just right. The rest were so so. Right in downtown, difficult to find parking. Very busy restaurant, we’d got to wait for a while for the table. The waiter was was super nice and funny. We like the way he communicated with customers. Dishes were served quickly. Sitting space was comfortable. Price was above average.

Outstanding Saturday dim sum

By Woolf G |

This Chinatown establishment is known to the locals as the best dim sum purveyor in the SeaTac area and my experience agrees with that view. It is a large eatery, though spread out over a number of smaller rooms. Though we visited on a Saturday morning encountered a full house, the wait for a table [for three] was brief. Tables are far enough apart to reduce noise volume, but it buzzes with the intensity the average upscale Chinatown eatery. The dishes were many and varied: way above the norm for the dim sum genre. We did not have or need a reservation.

Tried about 15 different items in a family sitdown, the duck Pekin was really good.

By Edan M |

All dishes were awesome but in Chinese we want the highlights, tried about 15 dishes. pekin duck was very good, worth reviewing and is a star item. Their dumplings are top notch, fried shrimp and scallions stood out, wonderful. Great restaurant in generally, the specific dishes were done exceptionally well.

Recommended to Us

By SuziFortCollinsCO |

This place was recommended to us by an Asian friend, as the best dim sum in Seattle. We were pleased to see many Asian customers dining...a good sign! We were seated, and waited about 10 minutes before a server came to our table. He did not say hello, no greeting at all. He and the people bringing our food acted as if it were an inconvenience to wait on us, even though we said please and thank you repeatedly and made no unusual requests (shy of no lemon in our water!) The food WAS good, but by no means outstanding. It was delicious...for a place we'd go to once and would not seek out going back to. Recommend customer service training for all staff...this is coming from someone who has spent more than 20'years in the hospitality industry.

Hungry for dim sum

By Raintreeflower |

We got seated right away, surprised because there's a long wait to get in this place. Food was fresh and delicious. Service awesome. We love dim sum!

Old school no nonsense, just outstanding cooking

By qft03 |

This place was highly rated on TripAdvisor and so we took a Lyft there. The driver, atypically a young white man who grew up in Seattle, was the talkative type, and volunteered that Jade Garden was his favorite go-to Chinese restaurant in the International District. The outside looked rather decrepit and almost turned us off, but the inside was clean enough though no frill. The cooking was very good, in an old school no nonsense way.

Great dim sum bad service

By Pamela M |

We drive from Oregon just to get this dim sum. The wait is long but worth it. The chili sauce they have is a perfect pairing with the dim sum. The dough and meat are balanced. The only thing I have to complain about is the cleanliness. They churn out so many people very quickly and do not clean very well

Very Happy

By Ronald S |

My son were in the area due to errands and were hungry. Jade Garden's website did not say the hours, as far as we could see. We called them and asked them if they were still serving dim sum and until what time. They said they served dim sum until 7 pm. We were surprised. We thought most restaurants stop around 2 or 3 pm. We were near, found parking and got in right away and food was served quickly because we had appointments elsewhere so everything worked well. Outside is boarded up like it was broken into and some man came out and asked if we were waiting. Apparently, it is a front and dining remodel. The new tables and chairs are nice and modern. They now charge a service charge with credit card purchases. They added a service station so lost 2-3 tables. Long waits before most of the time. Don't know if that will make it worse. Bathrooms disgusting and need a major remodel. Food very delicious.

Dim Sum Heaven

By Daniel V |

Although they open at 9:00, I got there at 8:30 AM and I was seated. They came over with tray after tray of a wide variety of dim sum. Items I wasn't sure about, they pleasantly explained the fillings. The variety was great and everything was very tasty. I took some baked pork buns with me for the flight home. Prices were reasonable and service terrific. I look forward to returning next time in Seattle.

Fantastic food, warm generous spirit. Long review please read all

By TLAF5841 |

During these difficult COVID times, take out is our only option. Fortunately for all dim sum lovers the Jade Garden is still open, despite being vandalized not just once but two times. They have been like the Phoenix and have risen AGAIN. I grew up in Seattle and on dim sum, but then moved away, the food here is superior to many of the dim sum restaurants in the Bay Area where I now live, including the one that I usually frequent at home. I must also mention the incredible kindness Eric showed to my family when he noticed them walking down the street appearing to be sad (they were grieving). He rushed into his restaurant and grabbed a bouquet of flowers (he was selling them for a vendor at Pike Place Market) and gave it to them. When he was told that they were coming to his restaurant to pick up food he brought it out to them and refused payment. All this was done spontaneously and from a heart of gold without any expectations of anything in return. This review is to thank Eric and is also made for a selfish reason as I want to make sure this restaurant thrives so that when I return, I will have a place to enjoy great food over and over again.

Fried rice is the best here!

By raeroving |

A constant customer who orders to go fried rice. Vegetable fried rice or beef fried rice are my favorite here in this restaurant. I loooooove this place. My food stop all the time.

Nothing special

By 5flower |

The restaurant posted their special dishes on the wall, and we ordered one if the specials: fish fillet, but it was nothing special. The catfish was not fried and the fillets were mixed with snow peas some of which were not fresh. We had another dish: mushroom with mixed vegetables and it was better than the special dish. The restaurant was a bit dirty.

Best Dim Sum in Seattle

By WatergateBob |

Go for the Dim Sum - everything is delicious. I didn't even think I liked siu mai until I had it here. The har gow, char siu bao, and everything else is great. It's served cart-style, and you can't go wrong no matter what you order. We ended up paying about $15 per person, which is shockingly cheap for how great the food was. Be prepared to wait. The restaurant has its own system for tracking tables, but the list is public (we wrote our own names down on the list) and you can opt to share a table with another group to eat faster. The wait staff will leave you alone until your meal is done, go to the counter to pay.

Food is good but...

By Shiko1218 |

The food are ok but the restaurant is filthy. You can feel the stickiness on the carpet when walking to your seat - making you wonder how clean is the kitchen or when was the last time the food inspector was there. Servers are loud and rude but I guess there are not much dim sum places around so the place is always packed.

Classic Dim Sum

By Gary D |

We ordered all our favorites - the shrimp balls were the best, the sticky rice lotus leaf just right, the sesame balls stuffed with bean paste gently crispy and sweet and chewy. The turnip cake could have used - something - time? longer sauteeing? but leftover the next day and reheated were perfect. We ordered a crispy noodle chow mein with pork that was kind of bland, but with a shake of soy and a couple of spoons of chili paste was fantastic and a bit addictive. This turned out to be our favorite dim sum restaurant!

Popular, loud, good yum cha

By allIdoistravel |

We went for yum cha on a Sunday morning. Thank goodness we sent an advance party to stand in line or we would have had a much longer wait. The place was hopping. It's so tight that the dim sum trolley women have multiple dishes on each trolley. But no mind, the dim sum were overall very good with very few exceptions. Chicken feet were superb, cha siew bao were first class, tripe was tasty, shu mai were delectable. The pork ribs could have done with a tiny bit more black bean. Overall pretty good though.

Decent cantonese in the ID

By syncomm1 |

We were devotees of the Tea Garden, a somewhat greasy spoon that recently closed on Rainier. Looking around for an alternative, we checked out the Jade Garden one evening. It always seems crowded on weekends, so we figured it must be good (large Chinese clientele). And it was good, not great, but when you have a Chinese Ono, a strong contender.

One of Seattle's Best China Town Dim Sum Restaurant

By wirenut1462 |

Went to this restaurant for dim sum lunch. Many good choices and quick service. This is about authentic as you can get when it comes to dim sum lunch.

Good old fashioned dim sum

By tarheelblue822 |

If you're looking for the old fashioned dim sum experience with the carts rolling by, this is the place. Was recommended by several locals and it didn't disappoint. Found it a little heavy on the seafood options but all were very good. They do try to rush you along when they have others waiting for tables.

Best Dim Sum in town

By Derrick |

I have yet to find better Dim Sum than at Jade Garden. During the pandemic we would order pick-up 2 to 3 times a month. Every time our food was hot, flavorful, and delicious. Supporting this local business is important to me. Even more so during the pandemic and then the incidents that took place here. We will continue to order and support this amazing local eatery!

Not so tasty and overcharged

By asis76 |

Out of our 5 dim sum choices, only 2 were tasty with good flavor, rice noodle with shrimp and fried rice ball with shrimp. Service at our table was pleasant and efficient. Using online ordering was satisfactory until it was time to pay for our meal. Although the subtotal was correct online, no ticket was shown/offered, which resulted in being overcharging almost $2! Beware when you eat here!

Our favorite dim sum spot in Seattle :))

By G C |

Jade Garden is a super-popular & well-known Asian food eatery that specializes in dim sum (tea lunch). Choose from a wide variety of steamed, fried, and baked dishes which are served in small baskets/dishes by friendly waitresses. For dim sum, its always best to bring a group so that you can try/share as many offerings as possible... While there are a number of other places in ChinaTown that serve dim sum, there's a reason why the Jade Garden is always packed full (= great food). Enjoy!

Racial profiling isn't fun for anyone

By Fat O |

Unless one is born of Asian decent this place is best avoided. We were seated in the back and mostly ignored while we watched other patrons enjoy much better service. Food is not good either.

Good dim sums

By Steve T |

We stopped by Jade Garden for dim sum - especially for har gow (蝦餃). They were fresh and tasted great. We didn't get to try harbor city but maybe in the future! I would highly recommend this place if you like dim sums! Good service, good dim sum!

Great food, service ?

By ChefFred |

We went to Jade Garden after a Sounders match recently. First time there. We had a short wait to be seated but not excessive. The restaurant was busy. We ordered several items (there were four of us) and soon the first began to arrive. The order od delivery was haphazard at best and the final item, considerably after everything else, was the fried rice. The flavors and preparation of the meal was great but the "we'll bring the food when each item is ready" definitely detracted from the meal. Price was definitely a plus.

What they lack at the hostess level they make up for with their food

By bajanboca |

Very no frills Chinese restaurant. When we arrived no-one acknowledged our presence. I asked some regulars how this worked and they said hold tight, they'll call you when they're ready for you. Sure enough when a table was ready they sat us. Our server was pleasant and kind and appreciative when we explained we had a gluten allergy / celiac daughter. He helped her decide what was safe for her to eat and even checked with the kitchen to be sure she was safe. The food was delicious. Not a lot of attentive service throughout dinner i.e. we had to wave them down for water :) But the food was worth it. Be patient and enjoy the experience and the food!

Popular and value-for-money in Chinatown Seattle

By SingaTrav3ll3r |

Dishes are huge so suitable for sharing among small group. For e.g. 3 of us Asians can't finish the fried rice, which was a bit salty. Broccoli was boiled and oyster sauce separated so good for heathy choice. Dim sum pieces are quite large. Hot & sour soup and sweet sour pork were quite good. We had dinner and saw steady stream of diners which showed the popularity of the restaurant. Food was served quite fast upon ordering. Chinatown Seattle is quite quiet after sunset so stay alert regardless

A reason we come to Seattle

Felt like I was back in Hong Kong, had Dim Sum at 10am, 4th of July, waited 20 minutes for a table, would have waited more as the food is amazing.

Tasty satisfying fresh food

We shared a warming won ton soup followed by several dishes with good vegetables and a BBQpork fried rice finished off with crisp fortune cookies

Had delightful Dim Sum here!

By ormbrek |

Some friends wanted us to try Dim Sum for the first time, and we enjoyed it a lot! A very busy place on a Sunday morning, had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. They bring large of trays to your table, and you choose what you all want to eat or share! If our friend had not been Chinese, we would not have known what to order.

Great dumplings and beef with green beans

By sdm7201 |

We enjoyed the meal, especially the dumplings and their beef with green beans special. The barbeque dim sum was just okay. Not crazy about the breading, but it was a fun experience. We decided to try it after reading other reviews.

Love my dim sum!

By dolphidive |

My friends brought us here for dim sum as I was craving it so badly and it didn't disappoint. Food was good and service was reasonable given that we were there on a Saturday morning. We did however have to wait to be seated but it was a short wait.

Lovely Chinese

By William N |

From the outside this place isn't much to look at so we weren't sure what to expect. We didn't go for the Dim Sum menu, instead ordering off the normal menu. Had a selection of lemon chicken, sweet & sour pork and some kind of beef dish. For us all the food was excellent and cooked exactly to our taste. Portions sizes were much larger than expected and the quality good. This was one of our favourite meals of the trip, we all (three adults) ate for about $45 for lunch and we were sufficiently satisfied we didn't need dinner after it. For three, we probably ordered too many dishes- two is sufficient. Service was quick but a little aloof.

Like Dim Sum, you will like Jade Garden

By StonecreekArabians |

Went looking for a new/different dim sum place in Seattle's International District. Every now and then it is good to compare. This place ticked all of the boxes. First, full of people and wait list. Second, very large...has a huge backroom they open when things get busy. Easy to find, but of course there is the parking problem in the International District so be prepared. Food...excellent with choices not always available at other dim sum places; meaning not tourist food. Food cooked well, hot when it was supposed to be (not lukewarm). Wait staff is patient and helpful. I really enjoyed myself. Prices? About like other dim sum places. All depends on what you order. Portions were more than adequate.

Shrimp overkill

By valarieemailme |

Overall quite disappointing. This was our first dim sum restaurant. When we sat down we were immediately bombarded with a food cart and the server just started shoving food in our faces needing to know if we wanted it or not. Kinda uncomfortable and without a description, we had no idea what they were giving us. When we asked for help ordering, the server had no idea what we were saying and couldn't help us. He didn't speak English. Everything had shrimp on it and all tasted the same with the same texture. Advice: skip it and go to one of the order-off-the menu restaurants nearby.

They fell short of where they should have been

By Bluebonnet2009 |

We went to the Jade Garden Restaurant for Dim Sum, something we did a few years ago and were looking forward to on this visit to Seattle. We were seated in a back overflow room and were offered a very small selection from one serving cart. That was it! There were no other opportunities to select food and there was almost no other service of any kind. None of the wait staff spoke much English and were unable to accurately answer our questions about food content, a serious problem since one of our party has food allergies and was incorrectly told about an item. An attempt to order a soda led to a glass of ice being brought to the table. An hour befored the dim sum menu closed, the staff was busy filling condement containers on the empty tables and there was still no sight of any more food offerings. We had to go through the main dining room to leave and found it filled with carts with many types of dim sum. I would have rated them lower than a three if it hadn't looked like there was a chance the main room still offered the nice meal we had before. Do NOT accept a table anywhere beyond the main dining room!

Fantastic dim sum in Seattle downtown

By Silvie K |

Came here a few days ago with family. No reservation, waited 20 Minutes at Lunch rush for a table for 5. Food carts came right away. Had everything from pork buns, chicken feet to the sweet treats like custard steamed buns. It was delicious and fresh and well organised. If you never had dim sum and you are thinking to come here, I would definitely recommend it!

Give it a miss

By Voyage65843 |

Disappointed in this restaurant. I love Chinese food but this was very average except for the rice. Service was not friendly. Place was not clean - sticky carpets. Restrooms were dirty. I normally do not write bad reviews but as a person who lives in Seattle I want tourists to have a great experience.

Vacation

By Bill S |

This place has the best Chinese food. Try the Lemon Chicken it is to die for. The dishes are very large so come hungry. My family all ordered a dish a piece and shared but had way more than we could eat. Everything was so good. We will make it a point to go back and eat there again if we get back to Seattle.

An Old Friend Still as Good as Ever

By John T |

Found myself downtown on Chinese New Year (February 10) so decided to have a Dim Sum lunch at my perennial favorite, Jade Garden. It proved to be a Great Decision. Everything that we ordered was cooked to near perfection. The BEST chicken feet ever (the meat just slipped away from the bones and the sauce was perfect.) Perfectly cooked Gai Lan for a healthy vegetable note . Perfectly cooked steamed shrimp dumplings and pork shu mai as well as very good sticky rice. I continue to believe that Jade Garden offers the BEST DIM SUM in Seattle. Please let me know if I have missed a competitive new comer.

Fantastic Chinese Food

Very friendly service. Don't miss the Dungeness crab with ginger and scallion. Everything on the blackboard is good. And the dim sum is wonderful.

Authentic family-style Chinese food

Stopped here while walking through Chinatown and there are no regrets! Orders are large plates, so meant to be shared and eaten family-style. Cost is about $18 - $20 a plate. Delicious. 🥡

Popular tourist spot!!!

By Ray H |

This is a place that my family like to come for dim sum on the weekends, it is usually crowded with all the tourist who has read great reviews and wanted to come try for them selves. The food has always been consistently hot and fresh due to the large demand and we have always gotten great services from both the hostess and the wait staff. Although in our latest visit last week, we found both the food quality and the service level have digress.

Waaaaaaay too much food!

By Susan T |

Delicious, but order half as much as you normally would of ordering off the menu. They don't do that usual meal portion of an entree, rice and egg roll. Order one rice for everyone and split a meal between 3 people.

Win win eat that thing

By theeyesoftheworld |

I will tell you the only problem with this place is there are to many people eating here. No really, as far as Chinese food this is a great place. The almond chicken is huge. I've never received anything I have not liked. They did do a little remodel and the lights are to BRIGHT.

Lunch at Jade Garden

By tienung0508 |

I went here for a brunch around 12 to 1pm. It was a little bit crowded since it was the weekend, so we have to wait for around 15min to get a table. However, the food came out really fast. They also had those rolling carts in which they transferred the food around; so that you could see and pick the one you wanted. The food was delicious and serve when hot. The server was also really friendly and nice. This was really a nice place to go to for food.

Authentic Cantonese cuisine

By TravelLily007 |

Very authentic Cantonese cuisine. It has dim sum (shrimp dumplings, chicken feet, etc.). Excellent fresh fish; geoduck (giant) clams if in season (a Seattle specialty - as they farm them on sandy beaches). Opens late: you can go there late night for a bowl of noodles when everyone else is closed. A little tired looking decor but go there for the excellent food.

Bad Dim Sum

By Ana V |

This is not the place to go for Dim Sum. Food was cold in most cases and seemed like it had been sitting for too long despite the fact the restaurant was very crowded. Dumplings were not light as they should be but heavy and too doughy. Service was not good. It took forever to be able to order a soda.

Dim Sum for those under 30, food court chinese food for those over 30

By 739chazr |

The one start was the friendly staff. The wait for a 2 person table was an hour and a half. The lobby was crowded with under 30 patrons. They appeared to be enjoying the wait. When we were seated and asked for a menu, they seemed puzzled, so we ordered three items from the chalk board specials of the day and one photo item from the menu. The quality of the food was similar to a food court. A dish described as crisp tofu was mush. Those under 30 seemed to enjoy their dim sum, so for them it appeared to be a satisfying experience. For those over 30, chose one of the 120 other Chinese restaurants in Seattle.

Good Dim Sum

By John L |

Jade Garden is a local favorite so maybe expectations were too high. The Dim Sum was good, not great. Service was OK but certainly not speedy or friendly. More like we were on an assembly line. I'd revisit, but with lower expectations.

Unpleasant atmosphere

By Yu Chi C |

The service of this restaurant was awful. After we decided what to order, the waiter took the 飲茶menu away, saying that chefs were too busy to cook them. His manner was very impolite and rude. Foods were okay, but not impressed.

Good Dim Sum selections

By xtalman11 |

The wait line out the door was the indication this place is a hit with the locals. We waited ~20 minutes on a Sunday at lunchtime. This place seemed rather small and maybe that is why they did not have all of the dim sum options we are used to. Only three carts circled the dining room. The food we did choose was excellent - no complaints. Wishing they had real chili oil/seeds though. Table seating can accommodate parties of 2-10 people.

authentic noise and clatter of plates; food also good

By Kenpasha |

Okay, my opener there refers to the Chinese fondness for "yit nuo" (rinao in Mandarin), meaning hubbub or 'hustle and bustle'. If the restaurant isn't full of noise and banging plates, it isn't fun. By this standard Jade Garden is right up there with the funnest of places in Seattle. But the food is good too! Now, in some of these restaurants, some visitors have complained that "if you don't speak Chinese, you can't get good service". I watched carefully here and although my partner is from Hong Kong and even I can stammer a few sentences in Cantonese, I saw that the Caucasian crowd could also make themselves understood and get good -- so good. At lunchtime we saw the carts and trays going by and if you can't make yourself understood, just point at a basket or bamboo container and ask the lady to open that thing up. We had a few items of dimsum (small orders) and asked for a ginger dungeoness crab (about $40), everything was good, washed down with the usual jasmine tea. For a full Chinese meal or going out with a group -- and let me tell you, at this kind of restaurant, the bigger the group the better -- this is the place. (Or at least one of the places -- ) Speaking as a diner who also spends time up in Vancouver, Jade Garden compares well with any dimsum up in V or in Richmond. Go Seattle! The restaurant was jam-packed the day we were there, so go early or get on the list. Bon appetit!

Classic Dim Sum Well Executed

By frogprince |

Great classic dim sum that comes to the table very quickly. The old school set up with chili garlic sauce in a little stainless container with a spoon and the Lee Kum Kee soy sauce was much appreciated. Also ordered the Singapore Noodles which were not to our liking but everything else was great. Parking can be an issue but if you arrive early enough you should be able to find a spot.

Second best in Seattle

By Agnes C |

See my review of Harbor City Garden. These two are across from each other. I’m sure they share the same dim sum makers as the taste was very similar. Anyone who is a dim sum fan knows that families are specialized in one sort and make them for all the restaurant around. So rating comes down to setting and prep

Best Dim Sum in Seattle

By John T |

Jade Garden is consistently the BEST Dim Sum restaurant in Seattle. It would even be respected in Vancouver or Richmond BC, the North American capitols of Dim Sum. If you are a neatness freak or hate crowds,or require a fancy setting in order to enjoy quality food, don't go. If you appreciate fine Chinese Dim Sum at moderate prices head right over except between 12 and 1 when the line goes out the door. Try anything with shrimp, sticky rice and expand your horizons with chicken feet. I prefer the steamed items more than the baked ones.

Lunch and run

By JasonHamrick |

Had a very tasty and wonderful experience here in January. Was in Seattle from only 2 days, first timer to Seattle also, and walked around Chinatown to figure me this little jewel. I am from a mountain state, so there was a small language barrier. however, I was greeted and taken care of with great rating food and a very reasonable price.

Wonderful, Inexpensive Dim Sum

By Peter S |

You will likely have to wait, because people love Jade Garden. I really think that it is the tastiest and least expensive dim sum we have had. That's out of about ten places that we have dim sum in Seattle. Bamboo Village up by Green Lake is its only peer. We were there after lunch, about 2:30 PM on a weekend and we did not have to wait. The plates were only $4.00 each. Amazing!

End of trip treat

Very good Dim Sum & Chinese Food

By foodie_bob |

We were downtown Seattle during our visit and wanted to have some Dim Sum plus Chinese food for dinner. I researched a bunch of restaurants and after reading mixed reviews I was even more confused. However, I ended up being really glad I selected Jade Garden. My message, don't judge the book by it's cover. First this place is still all boarded up on the outside & second, from a guy who grew up eating in NY Chinatown, our dinner was very good 4.5 stars. This was a different experience for me as it was the first time I had to order from a QR code on our table. We got lucky and arrived when it wasn't too crowded so we were seated right away. They took our drink order and proceeded to bring us hot tea along with water. After ordering, the food came out relatively quickly. The Dim Sum was so good we ended up order more dumplings. The Siu Mai were our favorite and they were the largest we have ever had. The other hit was actually the green beans. I wanted lobster but they only had 4+ lbs and nobody else wanted crab. Next time. I would recommend Jade Garden & would definitely go back if/when I visit again.

Dim sum does the trick

By CyprusEffie |

We were lucky to go with a local who knew what to order. You can get a great variety of things, from simple dumplings to chicken legs. Be daring and try something strange!

It always tastes so delicious

By Athena Tung |

When I came to Seattle last year, I only dared to buy takeaways because of the security issues. This year, the security has improved. I came here with a few friends to have delicious Yumcha. The menu now has improved and there are pictures. I think it will be a big hit for international tourists. Help, the quality of their dim sum is still the same. Now there is a waiter or waitress standing by to help order. But I still miss the old way of pushing the dim sum cart to the table and letting the guests order their own.

Excellent service, so-so dim sum

By Cliff C |

We haven't been to Jade Garden for awhile. Lately it's been too crowded so we've tried the other places like Harbor City (across King St) and the new ones that come and go within a block. Today my family was getting together for lunch at 11am, a bit before Jade Garden gets crowded. So we gave it a try. We were seated right away at a nice round table. The servers are friendly, attentive, not pushy, and keep coming by with rolling carts of dim sum. Prices are quite reasonable. But today the food was off. The shrimp dishes seemed ok. Same with the pork. But the vegetable dishes had no taste. We had broccoli and eggplant (two separate dishes) and both could have been cardboard for all I could tell. I'm not sure whether this was a problem with overcooking, ingredients that weren't fresh, dishes that sat too long, or ... who knows? At any rate, I think we'll try elsewhere next time.

great dim sum with good location & freshly prepared

By Philip F |

On our visit to Belleuve we always visit the International District( aka China town). We been longing for good dim sum from this area. My brother told me about Jade Garden( been there close to 30 years) and we're very surprised to find their standard is as good as the real Cantonese dim sum. The traditional dishes were freshly prepared & the taste was authentic. No fancy or fusion items that may get you confused but just down to earth tea & dim sum in an old teahouse setting.

Yummy dimsum

By AuntieJoy |

If you can survive the wait and your little old lady moms don’t get offered one of the four seats in the waiting area, you’ll be one of the lucky customers picking dimsum from the carts. Because it’s crazy busy on the weekends, food comes out piping hot. Being from the LA area, we enjoyed the novel offerings such as the donut in the noodle roll. Each item was more delicious than the last. Service was quick. Tables near the kitchen were super cramped and noisy. Waiting really amps up your hunger and makes it feel like winning when you finally sit down.

some good food

By Barbara K |

We were attending a play at the Theatre Off Jackson, so had dinner here first. We had great service. Prawns in Black Bean was my favorite. Fried Oysters were tasty and crispy, but too greasy. I wish I had put my napkin over them like I wanted to. Sauteed green beans delicious, but we ordered too much food, so took most of them home. We also had Scallop Prawn dumpling, which was gooey, though the filling was good. I'd like to go for dim sum, when everything is very fresh. Be aware that though they serve beer and wine, the beer selection is very limited, and the wine is "red or white".

Disappointing, Dirty and Disinterested

By JPDH52 |

We chose Jade Garden because of its TripAdvisor rating - we were looking for high-end Chinese cuisine which we had thought would be easy to find in a town with Seattle’s history. We arrived into a plain and fairly basic restaurant and the first thing we noticed was that the floor had probably not had contact with a broom or vacuum cleaner for some time. It was, simply, dirty. From a relatively underwhelming menu we ordered dumplings, which were exceptionally good. To follow, we ordered stir fried chicken and vegetables and prawns in ‘house source’. Good prawns in a very unimaginative sort of sweet / sour sauce a bit like what can be bought in a jar at a supermarket. The chicken was bland and the vegetables in the dish about 75% bok choy with a few slivers of carrot and spring onion. The tea was nice but not very hot. With occasional exceptions, the waiting staff were disinterested to the point of rudeness, plonking a plate down on the table and simply ignoring requests. A very disappointing experience at what was supposed to have been one of Seattle’s better Chinese restaurants.

please go & support this wonderful small business

By SeattleEcc |

My family used to go here for dim sum on weekends when I was growing up and I have wonderful memory about this place. I have wanted to go after returning to the area a few years back, but the long lines outside have discouraged me from doing so. With the devastation of the coronavirus, we decided to go and support this family owned restaurant, especially after watching the heartbreaking story in the news about the family's struggle to stay open. Given it is offering to go service only, I lowered my expectation as dim sum is best eaten hot while sitting in the restaurant. I got all sorts of goodies, all with shrimps. The food survived car ride home and tasted fresh and wonderful, just the way I remember. The shrimps were of high quality and every bit was full of shrimps. The BBQ pork buns are as good as they come. They were generous with all the dipping and hot sauce. The staff was kind and patient even though there were customers everywhere. One can easily see the kitchen staff working their butt off and amazingly, the wait was not long at all. While you are there, grab a bundle of flowers to support the flower vendor from the famous Pike Place Market. Also please consider go and pick up the order yourself as the delivery service cuts into the restaurant's profit, which is thin to begin with. B/c of coronavirus, parking is free for the time being and there is plenty of parking in Chinatown right now. After all the riots in the greater Seattle area, it was heart warming to see people coming to the restaurant to support the business. This is the community we know and love. We look forward to the day when we can sit down in the restaurant to have awesome dim sum with family and friends.

Lots of options for food

By F00d13MN |

My sister brought me here for the dim sum experience. We put our name on the list for a Sunday lunch and were seated quickly because we agreed to share the table. Then ladies with the carts came and were shoving stuff at us asking if we wanted it. It was a bit overwhelming. The carts are great but if you don’t know exactly what you want you could end up with some bad items. A few items I would suggest is the shrimp sui mai and haigow. I would not get the xialongbao. The idea of carts is great but the service is lost because of this philosophy.

Still ver good for Dim Sum

By Steve M |

This is an old standby for many in Seattle and I can report it is still very good. With many of the old Chinese restaurants closing or changing hands the ability to trust the name of the restaurant has come into question. Having said that, this is a top performer in terms of taste and flavor. All of the dim sum is hot and flavorful and very good. if you have familiarity with traditional Chinese restaurants, this location will not disappoint.

If you like DimSum, you will not be disappointed.

By 2015bearhouse |

I was with a Chinese friend last week. Yes, to the woman from CA who said it looks like a war zone outside. We asked: it's boarded up with 4x8's due to the violence that has plagued this (and many other) cities over the last 3 years. At least they're painted! You do not have to use the bar code on the corner of the table; we asked for menus and they were brought instantly. We were there for Dim Sum. My friend ordered 2 other dishes that were awesome, the portions of which were generous enough to take home for another meal. Yum. The area is not nice. It could certainly use a big clean-up, occupy the vacant/trashed buildings, etc. and it doesn't lend an invitation to walk and browse the other shops. I go, I eat, I leave. Seattle is not a very nice place to be these days, but I will go back only to eat the best DimSum in town. Then leave.

Tasty but looks like a war zone outside

By KWong55 |

This is our second visit here, one in November, 2021 and just this month and we enjoyed the dim sum here, but it is a limited menu and the outside of the building looks like a war zone, all boarded up. Inside is like a hodge podge of rooms. We were looking for a place to have some dim sum and found this place in Chinatown. From the outside, it looks like a war zone with wooden boards nailed on the windows. But people were going in and out of the place. Hubby dropped us off so we went inside to get a table. We waited for a few minutes and then were led through a maze inside way in the back of the restaurant. It looks like a hodge podge of old versus remodeled rooms. We tried to order through the QR code but I was having trouble with the app so we waved down a server to order. The food was hearty for dim sum and delicious. We ordered spareribs with black bean sauce, bean curd roll, beef rice roll, chicken feet, combo chow mein, chow mei fun and fried taro. All the dishes were hearty and tasty

Traditional Hong Kong Style

By Julian K |

Jade Garden is located at China Town, Seattle and maintain traditional Hong Kong style. After a long flight journey from Hong Kong, Jade Garden is my first recharge destination. Dim Sum is good quality and restaurant's environment maintains traditional. Waiter and waitress are nice Chinese, they always keep talking to all customers. Recommend to everyone who wants to look for good quality Hong Kong style dim sum.

Great Vegetarian Chinese Food!

By danielKeiran |

We have been to the Jade Garden several times in the past. I love the atmosphere in the restaurant. The staff is friendly and very fast with orders. But the faux meat they make all the food with is pretty convincing. As a vegetarian I appreciate the texture and flavor of the fake meat. Everything is made with this meat. But the whole menu is a traditional Chinese food menu. They have all the classics: Mongolian beef, sweet and sour pork, lemon chicken, etc . . . And it's all veg. Great food, great meal.

One of the best Chinese Cuisine in Chinatown (International District)

By DTravelDiva |

Late night craving for Chinese food was satisfied by ordering fried spare ribs, cod filet hot pot, shumai, peking duck and wonton soup. Service is better than most Chinese restaurants and service is fast especially late night. The food is delicious and the prices are reasonable.

This is our go-to place for dim sum in Seattle!

By sp0kanetraveler |

Jade Garden is on the corner of 7th and King, just a hop and a skip from Uwajimaya's, which we refer to as the "Asian Costco". In my opinion, they have the best quality and prices for dim sum in Seattle right now. Your best bet is to get there early, between 9-9:30AM if you want to get seated right away. The round tables by the window tend to be a bit drafty, so if you don't like the chill, ask for another table. The bonus for sitting at these tables is that it is in direct line of all the carts that come out of the kitchen, so you pretty much get first pick at the steamer baskets and plates. Their har gow and sui mai are plump and fresh tasting. My mom makes the best sticky rice with lots of ingredients, so I'm prejudiced, but JG offers a decent sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf. They also have several delicious steamed noodle or bean curd sheets wrapped around seafood or port fillings. The deep fried taro balls filled with pork and shitake mushrooms are amazing, crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. And the steamed char siu bao have a generous amount of filling, unlike some other places that serve a tiny dollop with mostly dough. My favorite is the baked puff pastry rectangles with char siu (chinese bbq pork) filling and topped with sesame seeds. Heavenly! The steamed gai lon with garlic is pretty good too, they use tender young stems instead of those tough stringy ones you sometimes get elsewhere. The pork spareribs braised in rice wine and black beans are also very tasty. And if you're into that kind of thing (I'm not) they even serve stewed chicken feet! We live in Spokane, which doesn't have any dim sum offerings (except nasty stuff at some Asian buffets or frozen boxed kind at Trader Joes) so when we visit Seattle, it is a real treat and a tradition for us to get dim sum. We often bring a big cooler in the car and empty glad ware containers and plan our dim sum visit on the last day so we can order extra to take home and enjoy later. Another great thing about dim sum is you can stuff yourself silly for very little money. The average plate costs a couple of dollars.

Have some Dim Sum

Great Dim-sum. I would recommend going with someone that knows what all the dishes are, or at least ask the wait staff for a recommend a few dishes.

Excellent Fathers' Day dinner!

By Anne K |

Every year in June we go here to celebrate a birthday and also Fathers' Day, and we are never disappointed. It's popular, so reservations on the weekends are very helpful. Our favorite dishes: black bean lobster, Peking duck, garlic green beans, and really good won ton soup (the won tons are filled with shrimp, and the broth is delicious). We order special dishes, so it ends up being pricey, but, boy, is it delicious! And beautiful to look at!

Tried it & liked it

By Don C |

While not as good as dim sum in Richmond, BC it is good. We had the Har gow (shrimp meatball), Siu mai (pork dumpling), pork pot stickers, and barbecue beef buns. They were all good. Not too greasy and the filling in each was sizable. It's definitely a dim sum go to place in Seattle. We also had the Shrimp in Szechuan Sauce which was good too. Prices were reasonable.

Dumpy place, food okay

Like most restaurants in China, dumpy, dark and a feeling of unclean. Service is minimum. Food is overall okay and price and value is reasonable.

Best dim sum variety in Seattle!

You can't argue with me about dimsum here at jade garden. Maybe not very best taste but best for variety with prettty good taste. Very popular in lunch time almost evert day but if you want dim sum in evening..they also serve...enjoy!

Authentic, reasonably priced, dim sum

By JABaseball |

Very authentic dim sum with cart service in the International District. Everyone in our party enjoyed the meal. Large portions, well made, fresh seafood, nice vegetables. Excellent hot tea. None of us could speak Chines and most servers struggle with English but Sandy (employee) was very helpful. She interpreted for us and explained a lot of dishes, made suggestions, and even steered us away from some items that might not have fit an inexperienced palate. Four of us ate a big lunch for under $60 total. Potstickers, egg flower soup, and a crab dish topped the experience.

Great Dim sum

By Jill K |

We haven't been here in a while so we thought we'd bring the family here for some dim sum today. The line (@10:30am) wasn't as bad as usual for a party of 7, about a 15min wait. Our table was upstairs in the back. There was only one steam cart & one cart with the sweets & fried dishes. The carts seemed to take longer making their rounds around the tables. The food was great & just as expected! The phoenix claws was D'Lish, well seasoned & perfectly cooked!

Looking for a place to eat dim sum and this was the first one we saw that said dim sum so we went in. Not a big place so there is a wait. Has everything, good price, carts going.

Craving for dim sum and Peking duck.

By Susmarijosep |

Monday lunch crowd was at its peak today. Happy tummy for me and my niece and nephew. Reasonably priced fast service great variety in the dimsums. Half a duck was just fine f o r three. Enjoyed lunch today, don't expect much in the Dec o r department it is a Chinese place in Chinatown but food is good.

Dirty Toilet Paper Piled High In Ladies Bathroom

By 50onthego |

My mom used to check the bathroom before she would allow us to eat in a restaurant. She believed that the cleanliness of the bathroom was a reflection on the cleanliness of the kitchen. We went to Jade Garden and were seated in a strangely placed table between two main dining rooms. We had only one cart service albeit we asked several servers to ask someone to come by. We finally gave up, and I went to use the ladies room before exiting. I have never turned around so rapidly, with such disgust in my life. I wish I would have been able to hold back the bile and get a picture, but I couldn't. And while I was initially angry with the horrible service, I immediately realized I had been blessed. Eating anything in that establishment has to be a huge risk. I will be calling the health department.

Dim Sum on a Sunday afternoon

By suze2u |

Wandering around the ID on a sunny/rainy Sunday afternoon with my sister visiting from Oregon, we decided to stop in for Dim Sum at Jade Garden. We had an excellent lunch!! Very fresh dim sum, lots of choices, friendly service, with mostly local family groups eating out together. Sunny, cheerful, upbeat atmosphere. We knew it was a popular restaurant but were pleasantly surprised by how excellent the overall experience was. Thanks Jade Garden!

Good Dim Sum late

good dim sum, though after the rush you have to order off the menu, no carts. Try the beef balls, very good. The ribs did not impress me.

The best dim sum in Seattle

By K T |

Visited Jade Garden for dim sum lunch in January 2020. IMHO, this is the best dim sum place in Seattle. It’s extremely popular in weekend, but it rotates rather quickly. So the waiting time isn’t too long. You can make a reservation, or you can place orders to go on the phone. It seems like they have opened sister restaurants in Richmond, BC, Canada. I plan to check them out when in Vancouver next time.

Service Could've Been Better

By Susie |

Place wasn't busy at all when we got there yet there was a wait before we were seated. We were brought some tea which lacked flavor. I felt like I was sipping on hot water even though the color indicated otherwise. It would've been nice if the waiter stopped at our table more often so we could've at least gotten water. The dim sum was delicious, my favorite was the barbecue beef steamed buns. Food was delicious but service could definitely use some improvement.

Dim Sum as it should be

By A C |

This typical local Chinese restaurant is a favorite of the locals. During the lunch hour, a wait is expected and planned for. Well worth it, the Dim Sum is good.

good chinese

we had moo shi pork and sweet and sour chicken and both were very good. and the location is interesting right in the heart of Chinatown! we would go back!

Great Dim Sum in Seattle

By beverleydave |

Ordered 3 portions, 2 dim sum and 1 dumplings and it was a ton of food, great portions definitely worth a visit

Shrimp and Cilantro dumplings are amazing.

By Ryan H |

Dim Sum is spot on! I enjoyed it very much and it was fresh. I highly recommend this if you are local or visiting. It gets busy so get there early!

Traditional Dim Sum with all the chaos

By Evelyn Z |

Get there early if you don't want to stand in line for ages. The Dim Sum is good for some items such as siu mai and har gow and some are just ok, such the char sui bao and turnip cake. The service is fast, and the food is very plentiful. They don't rush you from the table, which is nice. The meal was relatively inexpensive, $60 for a table of four including beers, which is a welcome relief, as dim-sum can get away from you in terms of cost.

Quick fast and delicious

By cptbomber |

Came here for dim sum , even though it was Sunday and busy we were seated quickly and in the most desirable location , near the window . The place is busy and loud , so don't expect a relaxing environment , but for the price and for the experience I would come back!

Pretty good food

By ECWorld |

My local friends said this Chinese restaurant has the best dim sum in town (for its price). Certainly there was good choice for not just dim sum but main dishes as well. We ordered a range of dim sum, mostly pretty good, as well as roast pigeon - which was also quite good. Decor and cleanliness just about average. Service was prompt and reasonably friendly

Really good food!

By asathemace |

We came with 5 people at around 10:30 on a Sunday and ended up waiting for a table for about 30 minutes. When we were seated they had a cart with different options at the table in less than 5 minutes. All of the options were fresh and very tasty! Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for authentic Chinese food.

This was the best Dim Sum we have had in years. We have had dim sum in many cities and this is the best.

By mprybylo |

We have had dim sum in many cities and this is the best. You order off an app so you know what you are getting. Many other items on the menu. Items are fresh and hot- fried rice, shrimp stuffed eggplant , 3 mushroom dumplings, shrimp dumpling- great

Best Dim Sum

By Daniel V |

Whenever I come to Seattle, I head for Jade Garden in Chinatown for the best dim sum. I come from NYC, so you might think I am used to the best dim sum, but Jade Garden is better. The staff is so nice. I can't wait to go back!

Awesome dim sum!!

By Jeff W |

I've eaten here numerous times over the years and 2 things still hold true, one is that it is always packed and two, the food is great. I've enjoyed dim sum here as well as some great dinners off the menu....The carts are full and the food is fresh and hot. Hard to go wrong here!!! The cart ladies speak English and this is a great place to learn about dim sum...check it out!!

Needs to be Cleaner and more Sanitary

By William Ngo |

The front of the restaurant was boarded up as if they're remodeling, so I didn't even know if it was open. I appreciate that there are dividers between tables, but I saw a waitress with no mask on while carrying food and the restroom was kind of nasty and the restaurant wasn't very clean in general, so they could definitely work on cleanliness and making customers feel safe to eat there. This is one of those places where you have to scan a code to get the menu on your phone and place your order on your phone, which seems to a popular thing in Seattle. Unfortunately, the order from the last person who sat at my table hadn't been erased, so the waitress thought I ordered what they had ordered. I tried to explain to her that it wasn't what I ordered but as she spoke no English, she didn't understand what I was telling her. I had to tell the host at the front, but she didn't seem to understand even after he told her. The food was pretty good, but cleanliness has always been very important to me, and now more than ever since the pandemic started.

Service was horrible.

By Dragonpoolfloat |

Food was good and fresh, but bland. I requested them to make it spicy, but they refused. They said it would change the flavor of the dish. Yeah, that's kind of what I had in mind.

Excellent dim sum

By Simonne G |

Excellent, authentic Hong Kong dim sum. The best I have had in a long time. Service was attentive and kind. Dishes were hot and did not skimp on prawns or meat filling. Highly recommend.

A hidden jewel in Seattle's Chinatown

By minn4cubs |

Our intention was to use the Hop on hop off tour to get to Chinatown for lunch. Walking a few blocks we found this restaurant and were very surprised at the number of tables since the fron did not appear large. Our waitress was very cordial and even helped suggest a few most popular entrees. She even helped with a quick demo on using chopsticks! A pot of tea, egg rolls, and 1 entree and we were more than satisfied.

Jummie!

By Carlijn K |

We came here to have dinner. First you get some thee, what was very good! The dinner was delicious and so good that we came back the next day! If you like asian food, you should definitly try this restaurant!

Traditional dim sum.

By Dara50 |

Traditional dim sum and experience. Good to support good traditions from extinction. Helps to know names of dishes at minimum to satisfy cravings. Expect wait to be seated.

Five stars.

By geri b |

Small neighborhood restaurant. Five star food and service. Weve lived in Hawaii and San Fran where we regularly enjoy chinese food. Jade Garden is best of the best !

Worth the wait!

By Tommia W |

Went to this restaurant after a visit to the museum. It was a short wait (about 30 minutes), but the food and service was worth it! Great variety, reasonably priced. Planning on going back there soon!

Fast service and nice staff

By ns2287ul |

We showed up about 5:30 PM for dinner and the place was already busy. We were seated immediately. We ordered 3 main dishes and 4 dim sum plates for 4 people. The bill was less than $60. Not my favorite Chinese restaurant ever but still better than most places. They charge $1 per person for rice. Rice isn't included with a dish order.

Great food. Service is at their own pace

By rusty_fwg |

We've been here several times and the food and tea is amazing. Lots of seating so bring your family and friends. Make sure you ask for water, early, if you want it at all during your meal. Little quirks about this place keep it at four stars. Shampoo instead of hand soap. No towels in the bathroom last two times I've been there. Tonight we had the salt and pepper crab. So yummy. Messy as all get up but good. Singapore noodles and shu mai. Great food!!! Once you get a chance to order the food comes quick, but sometimes it feels like you're forgotten. When you get their attention, ask for everything you need! But again their food is amazing and so is their home made chili paste/hot sauce.

Dont let the building fool you

By CSS9112014 |

The dim sun was fabulous. such nice waiters. Food is cheap and so tasty. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Good! Best Potstickers EVER!

By Salusia |

Lots of good dim sum options for dinner. Chicken hot pot was also great. Pick your own (live) seafood at the door. Server's English wasn't the best, but he was nice enough to point out when we were ordering cow stomach LOL we changed our order. Note: We were staying near the big mall/pike's place and recommend taking a cab instead of walking. You have to go through Prioneer Square to get to Chinatown and there are many homeless in PS. We walked around Chinatown a bit and felt totally safe, but PS was a bit dicey at time. We decided to take a cab home instead of walking.

Dim Sum lunch

By LisaMNUSA |

There are many selections, and the food tasted fresh and good. It was busy, waitresses worked fast pace. We got our water, food and bill in a timely manner. It looked like the owner didn't put any effort to the atmosphere, so just focus on the good food, eat and leave.

Great find near CenturyLink!

By T T |

We have had a lot of dim sum throughout Asia and the West Coast. Jade Garden dim sum is very fresh and excellent quality. The style a little different than the usual dim sum we have found in the Puget Sound area, which turned out to be a pleasant change from the norm. Also, I have to comment that the staff were very good and always smiling, even though they were packed! We will certainly return to Jade Garden when we are around the stadiums again!

Worth a try

By Rahoolio |

A little off the beaten path but the food was very good and a nice value too. We really liked the food but were a bit confused how to order and pay with Covid precautions. Lol

Authentic

By krisek-t |

Ordering here is done on your phone which was amazing when picking dim sum items. Nothing here I will dream about having again in the future. The staff were attentive and there was tea on the table when we arrived.

dinner treat

By Philip F |

My wife wanted to celebrate her birthday with some real Cantonese cuisine so we picked this restaurant in International district since they serve great dim-sum for lunch. Our main interest is their roasted squabs, it came out a little bit overcooked, dry but tasty. Also they may want to select a younger tender version of this game bird so it may come out sweet & fatty. The other dish was the Westlake beef soup which they did a good job with a lot of cilantro & spices.

Shame about the MSG

By NgFamilyLondon2013 |

We were visiting from abroad. The dim sum was huge- each dumpling was about four times the size of the ones in the UK. They were positively mutant. I guess its along the size of most American portions. The prawns were fresh and large, so why, oh why did they have to put MSG in everything? We were so thirsty as a result and came out with splitting headaches.

Not a cozy place but a great find

By Jan B |

We were actually looking for a different restaurant and saw lots of people in the Jade Garden so decided to go in. The food was tasty and lots of it! Waiter was very helpful in making selections.

A wonderful restaurant that is a must for foodies who live Chinese food.

By Alantripper247 |

A truly excellent Chinese restaurant. Authentic, individually prepared selections served hot and plentiful. The menu is impressive In variety and diverse offerings. Some items, like hot and sour soup, require a minimum of 6. No matter . There’s lots to choose. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the sesame chicken pronouncing it to be “the best ever!!!” That’s saying a lot considering we are old enough and well traveled to have outstanding comparisons. I agreed. My entree was scallops with mixed vegetables. Awesome! There were so many succulent scallops, that alone could have fed several hungry patrons. The assortment of very fresh vegetables was outstanding as was the size of each . Bok choy, pea pods, mushrooms, broccoli, onion, ginger, carrots snd more. Not pieces but seemingly entire plants🫠 Grudgingly, had no room for excellent dessert this time. Service was attentive and proud of their food. It was well deserved.
