Food served was on but why such small serves? It it's the first time for me leaving a Thai restaurant hungry! Took coconut veggie soup and their special spicy shrimps dish for lunch. It came fast (really fast, it was all pre-cooked), tasted like a good delivery food, but with a soup that I finished in 2 minutes and 4 shrimps (and much carrot), that was hardly enough for a man's lunch. Disappointed, mainly of some of the trip advisors reviewers of this place.

We went to this place for lunch. We were a group of 9 people and we made reservations. The table was ready when we arrived and the person who took our orders really knew about the food and flavors. The service was quick given the number of people. I ordered Panang Curry with Vegetables and Tofu with a spice level 4.The spice level was perfect for me, the portion size was good and it was delicious. All my co-workers enjoyed their food very much. Some of them thought the portion size was small but it was good for me. It is a perfect place for lunch, only a couple of blocks away from work.

Stopped in for lunch. We arrived just before they opened for the day and after sitting for ten minutes we wondered if anyone else was coming in. Ten minutes later, the place was packed. Good selection of quality Thai food.

Because of its location, this restaurant charges exorbitantly. They don't have Drunken noodle, a staple in most Thai restaurants. Go a few blocks South or West of this location and you will find better and less expensive food.

The flavors were good. I had the chicken satay (with peanut sauce). Sauce was thinner than I'm used too but the flavors were good. Also had Pad Khi Mao. Large portion it will be lunch tomorrow. They seemed under staffed, so service was slow.

The owner greeted us when we walked, promptly took us to our table. The restaurant is cozy, not great for a very large group but fine for groups up to 8. Service was great! The owner guided us thru the menu which was an added bonus. We both had an app, and dinner. Apps were ok, we had thai meatballs and shrimp roll. Dinner was nicely presented, perfect portion and delicious. Will definitely return.

It's very good Thai place right in the city center. The owner is very friendly and courteous, and food is great. It's also byob. I live across the road and often come here for lunch

I actually stopped at the location on Market street but it's not listed here so I'm listing the South St location. First impression is a nice little hole in the wall type of place with many small tables. Instead of letting me choose a table in the mostly empty space the hostess rather abruptly put me right by the front door so a nice cold wind would greet me with every new customer that would enter. Eventually someone came over to take my order and I started with some spring rolls. First thing you notice is that the menu is for both lunch and dinner, but have separate prices. Of course the dinner price is higher and doesn't give an option for a smaller portion. The spring rolls tasted a little over cooked and the sweet chili sauce wasn't very flavorful. For my main course I tried the yellow curry with chicken. It was ok, but nothing special. I'm sure I'll try the restaurant again, but maybe just for Pad Thai. Overall not the best nor the worst, and the price wasn't too terrible.

The food is always without fail fresh and wonderful. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly. The staff and owners are delightful.

Rather quite when we visited but maybe we were too late for Americans (around 8.30 PM). We just had springrolls and a green curry but it was already more than enough. Lots of vegetables. I like that.

We came here because this was the thai restaurant located closest to our hotel, and it turned out it was a very fortunate choice. The food was delicious and I just loved that they did not have any loud background music. In fact, it was no music at all, just peace and quiet and a good athmosphere. As foreigners, we did not know the BYOB concept, and my husband asked for a beer, however he was still offered a bottle (on the house), because an earlier customer had left one.

First time in Philly and we lucked out being here during restaurant week. So many choices. We select Jasmine Rice for their offering and wow, was the food delicious. So much so weee sad that we don’t live in the area to come here often. The owner worked the front of the house and was so polite and attentive. My water glass was never empty.

Staff were lovely and the area it was in was good after that everything was poor. The food was tasteless and not authentic. Over priced for poor quality food. Would not recommend . Thai food in Reading market more authentic and and cheaper!

We enter without knowing what to expect because we like to try new food from different cultures. I'm sorry guys but i do not remember the names of the food we ordered 😊 I can say everything was delicious. Was something with duck, very well cooked and kind of soup with noodles and mussels. The water is from the house, not the ordinary one. In in the end but not las, was the sympathy of the staff.

I was in Philly with my wife and some friends for the weekend. On Saturday, we went walking around the Rittenhouse Square section of town. Someone wanted Asian, so we went to Yelp (sorry Trip Advisor) to look up some places. Glad we picked Jasmine Rice. The restaurant is located a 1/4 of the way on a street of residential townhomes. They have a string of lights around the frame so you can pick it out. It's a small, family run restaurant. FYI, since they do not serve alcohol, you can bring in your own. We asked the owner where the nearest liquor store was and he said a half block away, so I went and picked up some beer. Another couple walked in with their own bottle of wine, which the owner opened for them. We just got a few appetizers, so I cannot really comment on their food, but what we got was pretty good. I'm all for supporting a family-run restaurant, so please check them out.

The ginger scallion dumplings were lightly fried and delicious. The vegetable stir fry was perfect: slightly al dente in a flavorful garlic sauce.

We were happy to get a table quickly on a night when the neighborhood was busy due to several shows in the nearby venues. The server was pleasant, service quick but the food was just so so. The pad Thai was good, but neither the dumplings appetizers or the chicken and veg main satisfied. We must have caught them on an off night as so many others really like it there.

We had dinner at Jasmine Rice (Rittenhouse) this past Saturday night before a performance at the Kimmel Center. All I can say is it's a good thing we got there very early or we would have missed our curtain. This was a one-woman operation and she was barely keeping up with the demand. One table left without even ordering. That said, she was very sweet and kind, and really kept her cool under very tough circumstances. We felt sorry for her, and all the other diners seemed to be understanding. The food was very good (we both had The King and I) and dumplings. Would have awarded more stars except for the service. Willing to try again as the food was good and there were many interesting things on the menu.

Stayed in Philadelphia for a night and randomly found Jasmine Rice near the hotel we were staying at on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was quiet at 7pm but this was good for us as we were given prompt service. My friend had the Massaman beef curry and 2 of us had Pad Thai noodles. As we were hungry, we enjoyed the meals and had a good experience.

I decided on Thai food for a late lunch/early dinner on a recent trip to Philadelphia, came across Jasmine Rice through TripAdvisor and looking for local restaurants to my hotel. this is a quiet gem. Family owned & run with pride in their excellent food. I had chicken yellow curry with rice - and it was delicious. Not an overwhelming portion, flavoursome without being too salty, crunchy veg and a good balance of meat and rice. i will be back.

Similar experience as the previous review. The service was terrible. We got one of our two entrees after 40 minutes of waiting, not sure when the second was coming! We had to leave because we were attending a performance at the theater near by. We should have never come to this place. Its a one-woman operation and the restaurant was packed - and pretty much everybody was subject to the same painful service. If you are in a hurry or don't have 2+ hours for dinner, this is not your place!

Portions are far too small for one person. The service is mediocre, you could get a lot more value for your money in this are.

Hands down, THE WORST Thai food in Philly, and possibly the worst that i've EVER had. We eat Thai food a lot. Love it. This place was recommended to us by friends, for some odd reason. We usually have the same taste in food. Not this time! The food here was appallingly BAD! The place itself was icy cold on a damp, rainy day. No heat. We started off with the dumplings, which were tough and chewy and rather tasteless. Then, we tried the meatballs, which were grisly. The pad thai, usually a big fave of all of ours, was sickeningly sweet. But, the biggest annoyance was that they never brought one of us their entree. Totally FORGOT IT! The waiter never WROTE down our order. ALWAYS a bad sign. There are at least THREE OTHER THAI places in Philly that are far SUPERIOR and much less pricey! AVOID THIS ONE!!

Tried Jasmine Rice restaurant for dinner. Good selection of items on the menu. Tried Green Curry and it was exceptionally flavorful. It had the right amount of spicy and sweetness. Service by Samantha was great. Went in for dinner next day to try out additional items. Tried the spicy calamari which was very good and the papaya salad. Would recommend this place

We dine in Center City often -- Sbraga, Tinto, Vetri, Volver, a.kitchen, Monk's, even Warsaw Cafe back in the day, as examples -- but somehow we've missed Jasmine Rice. Until now. And we were missing a very nice Thai restaurant. Great value. We stopped for dinner on Saturday and had a great experience. The family of owners serve you, so service is top-shelf. The soups, dumplings, calamari, pad thai, and crispy duck fried rice may not be avant garde, but are very well prepared from fresh ingredients. Delicious and fun. Traditional Thai food, not Thai-inspired. We'll be back.

We ate at Jasmine Rice at the Rittenhouse Square location before a Philadelphia Orchestra performance. Charming small space, quiet and very convenient for the theater and arts district. The owner was very welcoming and squeezed us in with a reservation for two despite the restaurant being very busy on a Saturday night. We really appreciated that! The food was great. Fresh flavors and generous portions. The Drunken Fisherman was especially good!. We'll definitely be back. Thanks!

Went to new location on Market St in Old City with daughter & her husband that live on 3rd & Market. Staff was great and food was excellent. Had Pad Thai, Fried Rice & Green Curry dishes. Very good! You should go!

The owner greeted us and was very attentive during the meal. All dishes were made fresh after we ordered and were delicious.

Jasmine Rice is an extremely quiet and easy place to dine. We generally go before concerts, and they are most efficient at getting us fed and on our way without being the slightest bit pushy. The food is tasty and in sensible portions. And the restaurant is (wondrous and rare) relatively quiet.

This review is for the Market St location in Old City. We were visiting for the day from out-of-state and after visiting some of the historical sites, we found ourselves very hungry. We passed this restaurant at about 4pm, found that the menu posted in the window had many vegetarian choices and decided to dine here. We were a party of 4, one adult and 3 children, all fans of Thai food. We had spring rolls, dumplings, fried rice with vegetables and tofu, pad thai, and massaman curry with vegetables and rice. All items were fresh, tasty, and filling. The service was so attentive and the wait staff polite and helpful. It was a clean restaurant with appealing decor, though the table was a little tippy (which almost cost our food ending up on the floor when one child put their elbows on the table). The AC was cool and welcoming after a long hot day walking the sites. Great meal with satisfied customers.

There are two restaurants in Philadelphia named Jasmine Rice, and my wife and I went to the one in the Old City. We both thought this was a mediocre restaurant. We started with the spring rolls, which were bland. Not even the sweet chili dipping sauce could save these spring rools. I had the Spicey's Alley meal, and the chicken and shrimp were so thick and crunchy with batter that you could hardly get any flavor from them. My wife and I were hoping for a romantic evening, but the tv was blaring the whole time, which was quite distracting. This restaurant does not know what it wants to be. Is it fine dining or a sports bar? We love Thai food, and we will certainly try Thai restaurants again in the future, but definitely not at Jasmine Rice.

This dumpling still amazes me, yes it takes a little longer but worth it. This is a family restaurant and you are treated as family. Food is perfectly fresh, curries can be mild to fire, unsure of what you like, ask and the suggestions will not steer you wrong. We are often in the area on Sunday night and even though there are many BYOs around we end up here more often than not.

My daughter and I had a nice late lunch at Jasmine Rice today. We enjoyed the meatballs as an appetizer. The dipping sauce was so yummy, we should have asked for a double! Then we had green curry with shrimp which was very nice. We also had an order of Pad Thai which was OK. A bit too much tamarind flavor for our tastes, but absolutely acceptable. The owners are very friendly and eager to please. I would recommend this place.

Love this restaurant so much! Consistently great atmosphere, beautiful dishes, and attentive waitstaff! A true gem filled with charm!

We had been here before for lunch and enjoyed the dumplings so we were craving them and came back for dinner. We found the dumplings totally inferior to before, and all other dishes mediocre at best. We ordered our dish "four peppers" on the heat scale and it had no kick to it at all, just a bunch of ginger and barely any sauce. Very unsophisticated Thai preparation and we have traveled in Thailand and know and appreciate their cuisine. Not sure what happened but it seems like maybe they changed their chef. And yes the portions are really stingy. They charge more for the same dishes at dinnertime than at lunch and the portion size is same or smaller. Not coming back.

We just left after enjoying an amazing lunch! Chicken shrimp fried rice and chicken stir fry! Mindy was sweet and was very attentitive. Plus the entire menu and Thai tea was the best!

This is a BYOB. Close tables made it lively and fun. I really enjoyed the spring rolls as an appetizer and pad thai as entree-ingredients seemed very fresh and it was like a home cooked meal.

The food at Jasmine Rice is delicious and they will adjust the spice to your taste. This is a BYOB, which makes the value so much greater. The people who own the restaurant are very warm and welcoming and know the importance of taking care of each dining party as their guests. There is nothing fancy or exotic about the atmosphere - you could easily walk right by, if you even happen to walk down this street. But do not walk past this restaurant, or you will miss a very pleasant meal.

We got there before the crowd and as we ate, the place filled up. The atmosphere was very pleasant; the background music was at a level where my spouse and I could carry on a conversation; it was pleasant enough but nothing that suggested you might be in a foreign country. It is my “preference” to listen to the music that is native to the cuisine but that is just me. I have been in Japanese restaurants where the music was Frank Sinatra, not good by my standards but they know their customer’s tastes. We sat near the front where we could people watch as they walked by. The menu had a wonderful selection of dishes and implied that most things were spicy. However the chef cooked to order so one could select the quantity of bite one wished to experience. We started by sharing the Spring Roll, then I enjoyed the Sesame Shrimp and my wife, the Fisherman Delight. Both were excellent. All in all, we had a very enjoyable pre concert meal; very pleasant and very tasty .

Sometimes when traveling, you worry if a restaurant is not busy if it not good, not this place. Never eaten Thai but was with family that recommend items for me to try and the meal was served quickly and delicious.

Not the best Thai food I've ever had but still very good. This is a simple, quiet restaurant with very good and personal service. Two starters and 4 mains came out at $70 which we thought was pretty good. A very nice meal.

We (2 adults, 3 teens) stopped by Jasmine Rice on the night of Saturday, 12 January 2013 prior to attending a show at the Academy of Music. The food was awesome - I only wish that we had made a reservation a bit earlier than we did. (We made a 6:15 reservation in advance of an 8:00 show -- too tight, but mostly our fault). The place was packed, so reservations were a must. The restaurant is in an old residence, but is very clean and tastefully decorated. It's a shame the dining room isn't larger - can probably seat about 40? 50? We started with appetizers: chicken satay (picky teens ate it all, so I presume it was good), Thai basil meatballs (good, sauce a bit spicy if you're not ready for it), and salt & pepper shrimp rolls (very good). Thai iced tea was excellent, but portion was kind of small. Entrees: - Curried salmon special: Excellent! A nice portion of salmon over some sort of a seasoned rice, smothered in a curry-type sauce. I really enjoyed it. - "King and I" - a curried chicken and shrimp dish. Also well enjoyed. - Beef pad thai - youngest teen didn't care for it (not what she's used to), but the rest of us did. - Jasmine fried rice - teen on a diet enjoyed immensely - Red curry chicken - picky teen enjoyed. I regret that we had to eat so quickly. Dinner was a little bit slow in coming, but the place was clearly at capacity. Everything came out clearly right out of the pan (not sitting around). I appreciate the manager hurrying our dinner along when we requested it. I'm looking forward to returning soon to try it out on a slower night and when I'm not in a hurry. The cuisine, overall, is not strip-mall Thai, but has some character. Don't come expecting "the same old Thai food." It was a bit spicer and less 'creamy' than a lot of Thai food I've had. We enjoyed it a lot.

We came here because it was close to where we were staying. Although they were very busy with a large group coming, they made room for us. I felt like if I came back a second time, the host/waiter would know me and greet me as a friend. The food was amazing and beautifully presented.

Very delicious . I love the chicken pad Thai and the White Elephant. It's amazing. And the staff is super nice.

Come here for the food, not the ambiance. Any decent Thai should have a good Thom Yum. This one was excellent, deep in flavor, lots of mushrooms, 3 medium shrimp. Siamese salmon was a new dish for me. Coconut rich. I got spice level 2, but had ordered level 3. Level 2 was tame. Cramped space, but good was delicious!

We ate it all! And the service was good. The dishes were big. We orderd pad thi and it was really good.

I went to lunch here with my cousin who lives nearby. The restaurant is small and cozy. It wasn't too crowded and we were quickly greeted and told to sit anywhere. The menu has standard dishes and some special Chef creations. We split an appetizer which was plenty for two. For my entree, I tried the Chef's shrimp dish, which was delicious. My cousin enjoyed her dish also. Lovely gem for nice service and great food.

We had quite a very nice meal at this restaurant. Jasmine Rice was an interesting experience. First of all, the food... It was exceptionally delicious. For our appetizer, we had the Sriracha Calamari. It was just as the menu stated, it was golden fried and perfectly seasoned. For our entrees we had the Massaman Curry with duck and the Yellow Curry with salmon. Both were superb. I will state that it was almost 45 minutes between getting our appetizer and our entrees. That was way too long and it almost made us late for the play that we were going to see. It appears as if then may get a little overwhelmed when they get busy.

Our hotel recommended this Thai Restaurant. Small casual restaurant which is good for lunch. The food was good and so was the service.

I was visiting my daughter for a week and we visited the newest Jasmine Rice in Old City on Market St., near Penn's Landing, which is not listed at this time on TripAdvisor. The service was quick and the wait staff were polite and knowledgeable . We had the Pad Thai and Garlic Fried Rice. Both were exceptional and the portions were well above average. Presentation was also on target. The menu indicated level of spice with red chili peppers. I like Thai with a bit of spice. The Garlic Fried Rice was indicated with one chili. It was perfect and exceptionally flavorful. We were so please with the quality of food and service that we had dinner two evenings in a row. Seeing us two evenings in a row, the owner/manager provided us with a lychee dessert at no cost. She was very thoughtful and explained the background of the dessert. We had a wonderful time and would encourage others to partake in some of the best Thai food I have experienced.

Someone arranged beforehand for a group of us, about 20 people, to eat there one evening. The service was terrible. There was only one waitress who brought one dish at a time, spaced out over an hour and a half. The last meal arrived at 9.30 PM just as we were leaving, so the unfortunate last person took it home to eat! The food was OK, nothing special. Do not take a large group to this place!

A basic Thai menu with options for vegi, pork, beef etc. to go with Pad Thai, rice etc. They will very the spice content to your request. Service was above average. It's a small restaurant with a cozy feel. Very reasonably priced. Servings are amply sized. They do take out. Having said all that we left feeling the meal was just "good", not "great" compared to other Thai restaurants we've tried.

Cozy ambience; Excellent curry; Service attentive & very friendly. Try the Drunken Duck, one of their signature dishes. The fact that they are BYOB makes it very reasonable. We recommend Jasmine Rice very highly!

Cute, cozy place, the former Warsaw Cafe. Average Thai menu, service was efficient. will go back and try other dishes.

We have dined at Jasmine Rice twice and have been very pleased both times. It is BYOB, but we view that as a plus since you control the cost of alcoholic beverages. Service is good and food is made to order.

A small neighborhood Thai restaurant, seating tightly spaced but not terrible. Monday night had what I assumed was the owner and a helper in the dining area, they very competently and quietly went about their work. The service was terrific, the food was wonderful, and the pricing was extremely reasonable. Seemed to be a lot of locals which always bodes well. If you enjoy Thai you will love this restaurant.

Sunday night, so very quiet but amazing food and the proprietor was so friendly and helpful Also byob excellent food and value Highly recommended

I love this place. Great thai food and a wonderful staff. Always very welcoming. I've never had a wait but it is good to see this place is filling up on weekends. BYOB is added plus. I love their thai curry - it isn't as spicy as all that! Their tofu options are also excellent. Prices are just right for thai food. Far better food than the others in the neighborhood.

We came in on a Thursday evening at around 6:45 and the place was pretty empty. The waiter, who I think was also the owner, graciously welcomed us. By 7:15 the place was packed, so I'd make a reservation just to be safe! The waiter/owner was incredibly accommodating! We were new to authentic Thai food, and he allowed us all the time we needed to finally make a decision on our order. We ordered the spring rolls, ginger dumplings, one of the shrimp soups, the papaya salad, pad thai, and the beef pad thai...ALL OF WHICH WERE DELICIOUS! I would definitely come back here again! Oh, and its byob!

I was surprised to see the very positive reviews. We love Thai food and try a number of new Thai restaurants when we travel. Maybe the Washington, DC area (or Thailand) has spoiled me a bit, but I expected somewhat more authentic and fresher food here. The chicken tasted like it had been around for a few days. The coconut soup was bland. The spices in the dishes were very weak. Service was excellent. Without this, it would have received a poor rating. We will not be back, however.

As a regular consumer of Thai cuisine I like to think I know a good Thai restaurant from a great one. I visited Jasmine Rice in Philly for dinner and had the Chicken Satay to start followed by the chefs special 'King & I', a chicken and shrimp dish with green beans, red peppers and a chilli paste sauce, served with Jasmine rice. Both dishes were pretty good but the satay sauce was not the best I've had and the green beans in my main dish were very hard and thus inedible for me. The restaurant also seemed a little short staffed which left me waiting a while to make payment of my check. If Trip Advisor had a 'Good' rating then I would have given Jasmine Rice that, but as the choice was 'Average' or 'Very Good' I had to opt for 'Average'.

Enjoyed lunch at Jasine Rice yesterday. It was so delicious and totally authentic food. We happened to take advantage of the Restaurant Week lunch special. We enjoyed a three course dinner for $20 each. We had a starter, main course and dessert. Everything was freshly made and delicious. The owner is absolutely wonderful and had an amazing tale coming to the United States back in the 80's. A true delight. Can't wait to go again.

My husband and I traveled to Philadelphia for a few days and had bought some growlers of beer at a local brewery. We wanted to go to a BYOB place and have some beer with dinner. Jasmine Rice is also located a couple doors down from Monk's Cafe (an amazing selection of beer!). We went in on a Wednesday night and they didn't require a reservation. There seemed to be two people who were helping each other out around the room - the girl was filling water and setting tables while the man was taking orders. Both were so incredibly friendly. The guy saw that we had a growler with us and he immediately brought over an ice bucket. We ordered the dumplings - came with four of them and a great soy/sweet sauce. Very good. My husband ordered a curry dish and I ordered pad see ew (flat, rice noodles). Both were really good and similar to the Thai food we regularly visit back home. The place constantly had people coming in to grab take out (seemed like a lot of regulars). Great place that we'd definitely go back to if we were in Philadelphia!

Jasmine Rice is a small restaurant, with a pleasant but simple interior and very nice and accommodating owner. We enjoyed really tasty dishes, as described below. Satay Chicken ($7) appetizers with a peanut sauce a little thinner and more subtle than is typical. The fantastic Thai Papaya Salad ($7) was very colourful and tasty decorated with a modest amount of chopped peanuts a seasoned with a delicious and a little spicy lime dressing- not a huge salad, but adequate for appetizer. The Chicken Pad Khimao contained well-cooked broad noodles, veggies, and chicken in a great, spicy sauce soy-garlic-onion-sweet basil, etc. The Crispy Duck Fried Rice contained crispy-crusted slices of duck over rice, with a sort of smokey flavour. Dinner entrees are adequate in size, but not large. We will be returning to try more.

We went early on a Saturday night for dinner. I ate the shrimp and chicken in curry sauce which was very good. My boyfriend ate the fried rice with duck which was also very good. The service was excellent. The man who seated us and took our order helped us make our choices, and he made sure that everyone's order was to their satisfaction. I was very glad that we went early because it was really packed by the time we left. The byob is a good idea.

The food was very good, unfortunately the owners do not know anything about serving everyone at the table at the same time.

Best curry I've eaten. Lovely quiet small spot with outstanding service. Fresh, beautiful presentation. Looks like it has a big takeout business.

Very warm and caring service, imaginative menu plus the old standbys, a local favorite. Pick up a bottle of something at the neighborhood market a few doors away. Perfect location, excellent value.

Very welcoming staff. Food was fresh and tasty and the service was wonderful. I would definitely return to this restaurant. Even when it was very late and we asked if we could order one more dish the waiters response was "It is never too late to order another dish. we are here for as long as you would like"

Our table of three was off to a solid start at Jasmine Rice with crispy spring rolls, chicken satay and Tom Kha Gai soup. The waiter seemed very new and easily overwhelmed but one of us is a chef so we are all sympathetic and patient. Our first entre, the Massaman curry, was very, very mild but good. The Pad See-Ew was burnt. It smelled like burnt marshmallows and we could not eat it. We told the waiter that it was burnt and he took it away without comment. When the bill came there was no adjustment so we politely asked him to take the entre off our bill. Another person came over (I am assuming she was the owner) and told us we were wrong. She explained (loudly) that we didn’t understand the difference between light and dark soy sauce, declared the Pad See-Ew perfect, and would not adjust the bill. Um...seriously? We are new to Philly and looking for our Thai go-to restaurant. If they had handled their burnt snafu with grace and showed any customer service skills at all, we would have been back. Even if we had been wrong (we weren’t), adjusting our bill by $14 is just good business. As it is, they put a damper on our evening by trying to embarrass us.

Near Avenue of the Arts, the Kimmel Center and the Merriam Theatre, this is a great find tucked into a little side street. The appetizers are great, two of us shared the Lanna Diced Chicken, nice and spicy. The Green Curry Massaman was excellent, the beef was not the most tender, but the spicing was very well done, and the bamboo shoots were tender and good. It's BYOB, which is nice, and the wait staff are very attentive to your every need.

This is small family reataurant. It is clean, has fast service, and delicious food. I would come back again.

Not that I'm a specialist when it comes to Thai food, but everything I've had to eat at Jasmine Rice has been delicious! And the owners are very friendly, the service is excellent, and the prices are within my budget--absolutely a wonderful addition to our neighborhood.

Jasmine Rice has fresh quality tasting Thai cuisine that is always delicious. The manager always makes a point to say hello and make us feel welcome. The decor is a little bland but the location and service is great! It's the perfect spot to have a romantic dinner or take a small group of friends. There is a liquor store right around the corner if you forget to bring your own. I've come here many times and always enjoy the food. I always get the Tom Yum soup with shrimp. All ingredients taste fresh and light. The portions are just right and the price is great.

Went to this restaurant with a couple of friends and enjoyed everything we ordered, from appetizers to regular size entrees. It was just clear that everything was fresh and carefully prepared. I had pad see ew, and it was fantastic. We also shared tasty appetizers, including very crispy spring rolls that tasted the way they're supposed to, not like the oil used to fry them. The service was friendly and attentive. I will definitely return to this place.

Left underwhelmed. The service was great and the staff very friendly, but the quality of the food itself was less than authentic; pretty bland and basic for someone who knows what real Thai food tastes like.

The best feature of Jasmine Rice is that you can get a reservation for a Saturday night with only a couple of days advance notice. When you are shut out of other restaurants, this is a great place to go. The food is very affordable, and the Thai cuisine prepared very well. The BYOB feature makes for a delicious and affordable dinner! Very good service, and if you tell them you have a performance to make, they make sure you are there on time!

Jasmine Rice was recommended to us for excellent thai cuisine and we were not disappointed. Centrally located in downtown Philadelphia, and close to the historic district, it was within easy walking distance of our hotel. We enjoyed the green coconut curry with nicely cooked vegetables. The service was excellent and attentive; the prices reasonable, with good sized portions.

Very good Thai restaurant, located not far from Locust Street and the Avenue of the Arts. (Warsaw Cafe was the previous occupant.) Family-run and operated, Jasmine Rice offers quite an extensive menu. Our favorite choices: Chicken Satay (Appetizer), Chicken and Prawn Pad Thai, and Mango with Sticky Rice. Dishes are tasty and not over-spiced, and the kitchen uses good ingredients. Prices are reasonable. We found the service excellent, the ambience warm and relaxed. And we could bring our own wine, with no corkage charges. The Owner and his spouse are wonderful hosts and Chef, respectively!

Jasmine Rice never disappoints. The shrimp dumpling soup was outstanding & the salmon Jasmine Rice, the perfect Good Friday dinner (not a sacrifices at all😉) The service was excellent & the ambiance, relaxed & friendly! Highly recommend!

If you are in center city and you want Thai food, don't miss a visit here. Low key decor, it's all about the food. The dipping sauces that come with the apps are terrific. The curry varieties are delicious. I'm hoping that it stays off the radar HAHA.

Don’t order pad thai with tofu. There were only three tiny pieces of tofu in my order. I took home the noodles and bought more tofu at the corner market and had a nice dinner the next night. Plus I added some veggies as there were only two pieces oof broccoli. Not worth the price as it was all noodles with a sprinkling of peanuts.

The Atmosphere was very modern and the location was perfect. The Pad Kee Mao was delicious with just the right amount of spice. My Wife had the Fried Jasmine Rice and the was equally great. I would definitely come here again

We had the Crispy Duck Fried Rice and The King and I. Great food and reasonably priced! We will be back! - Just FYI its BYOB.

My wife and I recently visited Jasmine Rice on 306 S 16th St. in Philadelphia. It is the second time we have eaten at this location. With a very intimate setting, the ambience brings a nice setting to our eyes. We started our lunch with their Thai Iced Tea. What a beautiful sight this Thai Iced Tea brings to our eyes, imagine a glacier on Mars. We did not want to drink this creation, because of its allure. So I took a picture of it to keep in my memory if I ever became senile. Once we tasted the drink, we both could not keep the glass on the table. I love this beverage in general, but the Thai Iced Tea here really tasted well and the portion was definitely good. Then, we ordered two dishes: Fried Jasmine Rice (Beef) & Ginger Garlic Stir Fried (Beef) We were in awe from the vibrant colors shared with us by their chef. Such an artistic display for something we "have" to eat. What a difficult task it is. But we definitely started to eat and from our first bite, we knew the plate would be finished. How better to show the chef our feelings towards his creation? The flavor was not overbearing, like with all exquisite art forms. Never pushing it's taste to a person. The healthy greens with the rice and beef really found out an incredible experience taste wise. Then there is the owner of Jasmine Rice, Tom Jamavan. It is the second time we had the pleasure to meet with him, the first being his other restaurant location (224 Market St.). Such a humble and tactful person Tom is, being so happy to be a small business owner. His kindness to everyone around the restaurant really makes a customer feel like our business is not being taken for granted. To have an intimate setting, an incredible chef, and a really cool person as an owner of a restaurant is quite rare, that is why we wholeheartedly recommend anyone in the area and visitors to try out Jasmine Rice. You definitely will feel like a family with Tom there.

Stopped for a quick lunch. Everything was fresh and tasty. Restaurant is clean and comfortable. Will be a favorite when I visit Philly.

Food Just OK - Very nice owner
Philly was hot (weather-wise). We like vegetarian/Indian food. This looked like a fun place. Sidewalk cafe too. We enjoyed it. Prices were fair. We had the Thai Papaya and Vegetable Ginger Garlic. Good, but not Wow!.
