Hold on to your wallet because you will be broke when you leave. The food is good, thus the 3 stars, but for the pricing I expected much much more. Small portions that are semi cold. The venue is beautiful but will not return based on pricing and portions. For what we paid I could have eaten at almost any 5 star restaurant in SD county. For Mexican food there are way too many AMAZING choices in San Diego for half the price or less.

What great service, ambiance and food. The chili rellenos were perfectly cooked as was the black beans rice and vegetable fajitas. The salsa is homemade and very fresh.must have the flan delicious. Portions were just right and beautifully represented. Love the music all was great Been to many mexican restaurants, this is one of my very favorites. Glad we picked it today.

Ok, as a TV watcher Javiers has appeared on those you know...housewives in OC..ok guilty. That’s how I first heard/saw about Javiers and didn’t give it much mind until a business meeting there today. WOW. I have lived in SD my entire life and this is one of those out of city places we need and should embrace. I’m sure the local hangout on Friday and Saturday is amazing because the bar is incredible. I’m exited to go back fo more!! The three enchiladas and the chopped salad with shrimp were delicious.

Had a business dinner for 4. Ceviche trio was great. Tres Leche cake excellent. The sea bass was average Great staff, drinks and atmosphere. I would eat here again

Great Happy hour! Atmosphere was 10/10! service was amazing. I got the enchiladas and they were fantastic. I wish we remembered our server he was wonderful!

Upon walking into this place I was amazed at the decor and elegant detail of this restaurant as they really did nice work. We went there for lunch celebration and I have to say they have wonderful service and attention to your needs. We sat in a semi-private room that overlooked the bar and dining room area. The food was absolutely perfect and did not disappoint. We ordered the Queso Fondido, and the trio of Poke which were all wonderful. I do recommend ordering the Poke Trio as this was my favorite. For my lunch order I got the Seafood Enchilada Trio which was, Lobster, Crab and Shrimp and was awesome. If you are visiting San Diego or just live here, i do recommend going here in the UTC Mall in La Jolla.

Decor is great, service is great and food is really good. Complimentary chips and salsa was fresh and yummy, every dish we ordered was finished. Even the chopped salad was done well.

More of a scene / place to go for a night out than for a good dinner. Went with a large group - service was fine. Food was bad. Stale chips, my steak picante was billed as filet mignon, but some bites were too chewy and couldn’t be eaten, more like a rough London broil. The osso buco was dry. The seafood entrees / enchiladas seemed much better, so maybe avoid the meats.

the restaurant is beautiful, however service is horrible and quality of food is average. way overpriced. Hostesses and waiters think they are doing you a favor by allowing you to spend your money at their restaurant, attitude and arrogance can be felt thru the restaurant.

We are from Los Cabos and have been to Javier’s there and love it so when we knew they opened one at La Jolla we wanted to try it and we really liked it!!! They have the best service!!! Everyone was nice and helpful since we went in. Their cocktails menu in great and the food menu is outstanding!!! We had a wonderful dinner!!! The ambiance is so cozy and beautiful. Our waiter was the best!!! Our food was delicious!!! I had a great ceviche and then a tampiqueña meat that were amazing!!!! For sure we will be back!!!! Congratulations!!!!

The atmosphere is fabulous and the service was great. But our food and drinks were underwhelming, especially for the price. Much better Mexican food and Margaritas can be found in the area.

We were in La Jolla around dinner time during the week (Thursday). We decided to check to see if this restaurant, which was trying to open by Christmas but didn't, was open yet. This was closing in on there second week of being open. We had no idea on what to expect. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess who seated us within minutes of arriving. The waiter who was brand new, two weeks on the job, was very well trained and polite. While dining, we had a guest relations manager come to our table and ask us how we were enjoying our visit. He and other staff members from the Orange County Javier's came down and were helping to get this new one off to a great start. I have to say, the service was outstanding and the food was to die for. This is not a cheap Mexican Restaurant so expect to pay a lot more but receive a lot for your money. I would highly recommend a visit even if you have been to one of their several other restaurants in California and Vegas.

Easter lunch out of town super excited to finally get good Mexican food Vegetarian, steak, seafood & a couple of margarita’s. Friendly staff exceptional atmosphere wow! I wish they start tasting the food before serving 😪 whoever is managing this place should start reading the reviews Pork chop tomahawk suggested by waitress instead of steak, tiny,a few veggies nothing esp! Vegetarian ok chip&salsa good Disappointed not worth$$$ too bad does not reflect the fancy/grand vibes

The food and drinks were good, but it was a bit noisy and over-priced. A nice place to do once, but I won't be going back

One of the fun perks about being an event planner is being able to choose - and try! - restaurants for business meetings. We were a group of 6 that grew to 7 right before our 11:30 am reservation, but the hostess managed our additional guest without batting an eye. We were given a round table on the patio, which was empty when we arrived. While walking in, everybody in the party commented about some part of the interior decor - the rope ceiling, the impressive bar area, the large windows, the semi-private room at the back, heck - even the flooring! It's quite pretty inside this restaurant. Our waitress was friendly and attentive for most of the 90 minutes we spent there but did kind of vanish at the end. We had to flag her down for the check (she dropped of dessert menus after clearing plates, but never returned afterward). I went with the Enchiladas Vegetales, which was one of the only vegetarian items that weren't a salad. We also had a couple orders of guacamole brought to the table to share. The house salsa was tasty - a bit of heat without being obnoxious, with good flavors. It was a bit saucy for me, but it didn't stop me from spooning a few dollops out onto my plate. The guacamole was okay - definitely nothing I'd order again (or on my own dime). It was a bit bland. I absolutely loved the enchiladas (which came with sides of black beans and white rice...which went untouched - too much food!) The flavor mix between the roasted vegetables - corn, chiles, zucchini - perfectly balanced the cream sauce and melted cheese that smothered the enchiladas. I had to force myself to slow my eating because I had to pretend to be a lady that day. Full disclosure - that enchilada plate was $22. They were good - they were delicious - but $22 delicious? I doubt I'd be able to justify dining at Javier's if I have to pay for the meal.

I LOVE Javier’s in Vegas so when I saw they had one in La Jolla I had to go! Went with a team of 8 there for a conference. The service was great and of course the food delicious. And it had been so long since I had their habanero sauce, I wish they would sell it. Fun and open atmosphere with a similar decor as Vegas but some unique features of its own.

We've been wanting to try Javier's since it opened. It's a beautiful restaurant with cozy tables and attentive staff. The menu is extensive, although a little pricey. I would've given Javier's 5 Stars if it hadn't been so noisy! The music is cranked up way too loud, you can't even converse at dinner. We could hardly hear our waitress, and vice versa! Other than that, the Arrichera steak is excellent, and my husband's shrimp were large and tasty. Great margaritas.

I almost never complain. We had reservation for 6 but we ended up a group of 5 with 3 adults and 2 kids. They put us on a two top, outside on parking lot with smokers right behind is, it was 45 degrees. As they were seating us I quickly realized it was going to be a tiny table and almost no chance of 5 to eat a full meal on a 2 top. I went speak to hostess and she said they often sit 5 at that table. I found it hard to believe for dinner. Drinks only maybe. She further said if we wanted a normal sized table that we would have to wait. Waiting, no problem despite our reservation but I didn’t want to be argumentative so we went with her word that we could fit. It was freezing and a horrible experience. The dinner was $400. The heater turned off and didn’t work for whole dinner. We had to put the appetizer on a the bench seat to make room for the plates. Two of us had to climb over the bench to get out because it we too crammed. Words can’t explain how our reservation, money and well being were disregarded.

The atmosphere is what makes this place very special. The food was very good and service excellent. I had the shrimp enchiladas and although I’m not crazy about green sauce, they were very good. Definitely worth the experience.

Avoid this place if you don’t want to set yourself up for ruining your day or night. Expensive food and drinks. Disrespectful manager. If it starts with the top, what more can you expect. No humility. Giant chip on the shoulder.

Overall great experience, the kind of place you don't only visit for the food. They make great margaritas to start with - and you can replace the sugar with agave syrup, it actually tastes better. The guacamole, shrimp quesadillas, and enchalada végétale can make you moan - careful with that :p The guava cheesecake is worth trying (And not too sweet)

Entering for the first time, we were amazed by the decor: clusters of candles, curvy walls, unusual ceilings - ropes and what looked like reeds. The server was attentive and unafraid of asking the kitchen for variations. We asked if the chili rellenois could be made without breading. They did and they were delicious. It is getting hard to fine moles but they offer an excellent pollo mole. Javiers was excellent in every respect.

Two friends visiting San Diego decided to splurge for dinner. The decor is truly unique and appealing. The food and service were very good except for the appearance of a bus boy with no English skills motioning that he was going to take my plate even though there was a fair amount of food still on it. At these prices, the bus boys should be able to be taught how to say: "Are you finished?"

Fantastic ambiance is the first thing you encounter. A very pleasant decor surrounds your table. Amazing dishes are everywhere being enjoyed around you. What to order becomes your biggest dilemma. From the appetizers to the main dishes you will be delighted. Large tables for your special occasion. Valet parking allows you to pull right up front . The prices are reasonable. A gorgeous full round bar for cocktails. Great service from your hospitality crew. Most important thing - the food was amazing and well presented. Love this new place.

The perfect spot for Sunday afternoon brunch with my daughter. The most delicious quest fundido dip ever! Served with warm tortillas, it was perfection. We also had some guacamole which was spicy and yummy. We should have stopped right there but we also ordered enchiladas and quesadillas, which were so tasty and satisfying. Everything was outstanding, including the decor and ambiance. Classy.

I was intending to go to the steakhouse next door and accidentally walked into Javiers. The atmosphere was eclectic and fun. Sat at the bar and had great service. Great margaritas. The Osso Bucco was good not great but I would still recommend it with a delicious serrano sauce. The flan was excellent for dessert. If you're a people watcher you won't be disappointed. Plenty of bar seating as well as traditional table seating in a loud atmosphere.

The food is upscale, modern Mexican cuisine. It is a happening place with a lively bar and great decor. A great place for a date, and, it has valet parking. This place makes the Red O seem old and stuffy.

Party of 10 for birthday meal and everything that came out was divine!! Drinks are replaced in good time and my meal of filet mignon with lobster and a side order of white shrimp was absolutely out of this world, accompanied by a White Russian was sublime! We were brought out an array of entrees, taquitos and enchiladas and quesadillas and the crab and prawn quesadillas were my favourite! This place has a great vibe and staff and cannot wait to return next year 👍

The restaurant is always full which isa good sign. I had the steak fajitas which were really nice. The whole meal with family was good, the only thing that made us think our time was up, the lovely fire pit and patio heater we’re switched off and as we were right in the corner it started to get cold quickly.

Came to San Diego on a whip, heard a lot of this place. Hotel had recommended it too. Looks really nice outside and inside. Great date spot.

Javier's is well hidden in the UTC mall as it is located on the outside. It's is an upscale Mexican restaurant. They have a beautiful bar and the margaritas were good. There food is good but a bit salty. Is is expensive there though

We went here for dinner on a busy night and our server did an amazing job the food was great she recommended some great selections. Super fresh great guacamole. Omar the manger came out to see us and make sure everything was great when he found out we were from toronto. Made the night even better I would definitely recommend having lunch or dinner here it’s located beside a very nice mall so you can do some shopping before or after. Make sure you make reservations.

Javier has a great location and a great atmosphere. Judging from the luxury cars parked outfront you can tell this is a place to see and be seen. The food is traditional mexican prepared with top notch ingredients. We had a ceviche to start, which was great! Then we had the beef fajitas and green enchiladas. Everything tasted delicious, and the service is fast and attentive.

For a high end Mexican restaurant, it was just ok. Very expensive. The short rib was very fatty and not that great. The chips and salsa, marguerites were very good. The service was pretty decent. I probably won’t come back unless I get invited by someone else.

Nice upscale Mexican restaurant! REALLY good chips and salsa and so many choices on menu and all very good!!! My family always gets the La Tablita, feeds 4 to 5 people and it is delicious!!!! I wish they would put one of these in the Phoenix area, it would do fantastic!!!!!

Some kind, deep pocketed, and seducing vendors have taken me out for full fancy dinners here recently. Javier's ritzy, glamourous, and elegant ambience never disappoints. Javier's team of hostesses, bus boys, waiters, and managers are top notch, attentive, and friendly...albeit I was always here for a quieter weekday night dinner. $20-25 Margaritas...yes, these margaritas are more expensive than Chili's or Applebee's, but the quality, smoothness, and natural ingredients are far superior. Sure you could buy a Toyota Corolla for $25K, but maybe you've moved up in life and decide to buy a $50K Lexus IS350 F Sport instead. $50 "Tomahawk" Pork Chop...a ginormous 14 oz grilled all natural cut dinosaur sized pork chop...juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The mashed potatoes(aka puré de papas), and sautéed vegetables perfectly paired. $44 Steak Picado...chunks of succulent, mouthwatering filet mignon with grilled tomatoes, onions, poblano, garlic, Spanish Rice, Refried Beans, and fresh flour tortillas...YUM! Yes, On The Border has a Carne Asada plate for $24...and yes could buy a Ford Escape for $28K, but now you're two promotions up and would rather be seen in a $50K BMW X3. It's all delicious and lovely...but just a little too pricy for my own bank account, but I'll happily enjoy if someone else is paying. I'll just be happy with my Subaru WRX for now until I reach the next stage of my life.

Wow. The quality of food was above expectation. Fine dining with great atmosphere. A little loud for me but the food made up for it.

This is the 3rd time I’ve been to Javier’s. It’s ok. Not great. There’s something off with the green sauce on the enchiladas. It is a little sweet. I do like the decor very much and the service is top notch.

First I must say this place is in a great location at a big time fancy mall with all the extras. The decor is impressive and grandiose with a person who gives you a towel in the restroom and possibly other options/services but I forget what as I did not partake. I enjoyed the music playing overhead. Food was delicious! Drinks were a hit!! We were here twice, once in the nice private but open banquet table, at the bar, and once in regular seating. All good! Valet parking at main entrance which was difficult for me to find the first time (not sure why), forget cost. If park in the mall lot, the Wells Fargo parking lot furthest from Wells Fargo is right above the restaurant so you can just walk down but that parking costs a few dollars as well. Sooo many food choices and restaurants here. Love it!

My son - who lives nearby wanted to try this restaurant. The restaurant is beautiful. Nice place for special occasion. I was pleased that the salsa was spicy and tasty (not bland like many that you might find at restaurants. Margarita was wonderfully balanced and delicious. The Ahi ceviche had asian flavors and very delicious! the osso buco was delicious with the sauce that was flavorfully spicy!

First off this restaurant is stunning. Absolutely gorgeous. They will get by on this and being new but unless they get a new chef..good luck to them. I was really looking forward to a fabulous cocktail list..not happening not one mescal Tequila cocktail on the menu. So 24 million to build the restaurant and you can’t invest in decent bar manager! We asked for them to do half tequila and half mescal in our cocktails, our first waiter acted like we had asked to move the moon. The good part the queso fundido was good as was the 24 dollar chopped salad. The short ribs negro were frankly awful..very salty, bitter and one note. The chili rellenos stuffed with beef again very one note. Oh and 24 dollars for a quesadilla! This place will get by for a while on their good looks and newness but let’s check in ,in a year or two!

At last Javier's opened in La Jolla. We have eaten at their restaurants in Laguna, Newport, and Irvine Spectrum. This version is as glitzy and busy as the others, and the food is (mostly) just as good, although the portions are smaller and the prices higher. Our server, Aaron, who was usually a bartender, was excellent. We ordered the scallops, and the stake picado (at least that is what I think it is called). The scallops were the best we have ever had. The steak was tasty, but way too tough. The details: the white rice tastes wonderful, as do the baby potatoes and the refried beans. The "Spanish" rice is OK. We wanted to sit in a booth, but were told we-- two old women--could not. We pointed out two young women sitting in a booth, and got an apology. The parking is really annonying: you have to pay to park in the shopping center, plus Javier's gives you the opportunity to spend even more on valet parking. It was so crowded at UTC on Valentine;s Day, in the rain, that it took about a half hour to get out of the parking lot. Eventually the powers that be opened up the gates and let everyone leave without paying. Next time we will park on the street across the road, next to Red O.

Javiers is a happening place. On a weekday evening, the restaurant was just buzzing. It is an expensive place to be sure, but for us, it was worth every penny. The salsa is probably the best I've had at any restaurant. I have yet to have better steak fajitas - the beef literally melts in your mouth. The beef tacos were par excellence. Oh, and how could I forget the margaritas - they were absolutely fantastic.

Great service. The Las Vegas type atmosphere is quite loud and it’s difficult to have a conversation without screaming. Tasty, but pricey.

First visit here. Loved the ambience. The food was good but I'd definitely be there primarily for the surroundings and atmosphere on my next visit, rather than the meal itself.

I really wanted to like this restaurant. We done out frequently and love trying new places but this place is a complete joke. Rude host, the food has really gone down in quality. Common for chains when they get older and shift to a focus on driving profit over maintaining quality. I could review each dish but it was overcooked to undercooked to bland flavor and all overpriced for being so uninspired. Total disappointment.

We had been to the Javiers in Newport Beach and were really looking forward to going to the La Jolla location. The experience was fantastic with the food and service being spectacular.

This is a great spot for the thirty-somethings to see and be seen. Great food, good service, lively atmosphere. Mexican at its best. A really fun spot. Use the valet parking - it will save you a hassle.

Best experience by far! Our first time dining at a Javier’s and first time at any restaurant since March 15 due to pandemic. Love love love the atmosphere at this location. Our server, Hailey, was excellent. She was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Three of us ordered different entrees for lunch. Tacos, Chopped salad, carnitas. Superb taste and presentation! Being a dessert person, their churros were far better than Disneyland’s! Can’t wait to go back!

We've gone to this restaurant a lot in the past, but will not continue to do so after our very poor experience this evening. We waited close to an hour for our food to come, and when it did the steak and porkchop were overcooked and dryed out! We actually talked with 2 managers and neither offered to take care of us, and were in fact very rude and acted as if they could have cared less! The place was packed and bad service and food was not something they were going to be con cerned with! Do not go here! Trust me, you can do A LOT better with your $120..... try the red O across the street!

Javier’s is One of the best High-End Mexican restaurants in the world. One of the best Margaritas ever is served here called the Organica. Very healthy and one of the best tasting margaritas you will ever have. You have to order the La Tablita dish which is A make your own taco dinner for 2 that comes with rice, beans, guacamole and veggies. I suggest ordering half Carnitas and Half Steak to get the best experience possible. Order the Fried Ice Cream 100000% and the Cheesecake.

Absolutely love this place. Food was excellent. Service was top notch. Environment was over the top. Large selection of adult drinks. Lots of delicious foods to choose from. A loud and energetic crowd. Highly recommend the shrimp tacos and the fajitas. Will most certainly return!

Went here on a Friday night with colleagues from work to celebrate the end of a big project and busy season. Gabriel -- and then Oscar, for a little while -- took very good care of us. The food was delicious, and the guayaba margaritas went down easy. Thank you so much to Gabriel and Oscar for excellent service and kindness.

Let me start by saying we have gone to a lot of very nice restaurants in the area. This place was by far one of the worst. Spent $400 on a meal and was rushed the entire night. We came in 3 hours before closing. The server was rude and the bus boys came over every 10 minutes to take plates we were not even done eating. We spoke the the manager Jose at the end and he was beyond rude. You can tell this company doesn’t hire quality people or doesn’t pay their people well by how bad they treat paying customers. This is a fine dining restaurant and when paying $45 per enchilada dish they can’t even have good servers or even managers for that matter. Won’t be back. Stay away from this disaster of a restaurant.

This restaurant is a must when you come to San Diego County. The Platillo for two was succulent... We had the Carnitas & steak and we enjoyed every bite. The rice was tasty and fluffy, the beans were just right. The Chile rellenos were delicious. And the drinks were so on point. Our family can’t wait to go back!

Second time a really busy place. Make reservations. Bring cash. It’s crazy expensive. 8$ for a Stella or Pacifico. Shrimp enchiladas were tasty. But at 28. They should be Upscale Mexican. People watching auto watching. Service was great we sat at the bar. We were told at 540 pm. No walk ins

Amazing place!!! Great tequila old fashions Very classy restaurant. Great for business people and couples. I would highly come back.

The food was very good however the service was sketchy and we had two waiters change during the course of our meal and thankfully the second one was way better than the first one.It has a good menu but at this price point I feel better service is key

San Diego has lots of Mexican restaurants, so there definitely is room for a few upscale ones and Javier's fills that niche. The room is gorgeous, especially the indoor/outdoor feel at the outside edge. The service is attentive without being bothersome. Margaritas are available in a variety of styles, all fresh and well-prepared. The salsa and tortilla chips are delicious. Prices are high, about twice what you would pay at a more typical Mexican restaurant, but the decor and the general quality kind of support that. BUT (and its a big one)...if you're going to hold yourself out as being such an upscale restaurant, and setting prices to match, you have to offer a really outstanding food experience. I can't speak for my dinner companions, but I was disappointed. My main course was chile verde, a staple of Mexican cooking which to me is an indicator of a restaurant's food quality. The dish was creatively presented and the tomatillo sauce was excellent, but the stewed pork, which is the heart of the dish, was the toughest I've ever had, to the point where I could barely cut it. Any average Mexican restaurant would have done better. There can't be any excuse for that at a place like this. So, if they're going to last, they have to figure out how to avoid this kind of misstep.

$110 with tip for a lunch for two? That was just the entrée and an espresso each. No drinks, no appetizers, not even the guacamole. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff is engaged and know their stuff. The food is OK, not exceptional. My medium rare Aranchera steak nearly ran off my plate...I think they slid it across the grill when they prepared it. Even for a carnivore it was a bit bloody. The sides were, again, OK. To add insult to injury, Javier's is located in the UTC Westfield Mall. The mall has started charging for parking (mainly to discourage local college students and office workers from the buildings across the way from bogarting all the parking.) You would expect that if you drop a C-note at any location in the mall that they would validate your parking. Not Javier's. New restaurant, obviously still working out of the kinks. That said, I am not dropping $110 for lunch in a shopping mall.

We have visited 3-4 times, food is typically above average, bar is slow to get the drinks out. Interesting interior, seating is nice and most outside locations have ceiling heaters. Great menu/selection, but as others have noted prices are at the high end! Overall rating: B+ (need to address the music) Would not recommended if you expect to conduct any business!

Beautiful bar however I was not impressed by the quality of the fairly pricey food. The chicken fajitas was a major disappointment. We (table of 2) had to wait over 45mns to enjoy our plate. Service is very competent, prices are too high for the quality/quantity of the dishes. I will stick to RedO next door if I am craving fancy Mexican food.

The restaurant is VERY LOUD due to the bar front and center. We asked for a table in the back so that we could hear each other talk. Is definitely a "be seen at" bar. The mole is very good and the rest of the food is OK. The servers were gracious. It is very expensive for what you get. One and done.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this restaurant. I didn't look it up before I went either. When I arrived, I was in awe!! This place is gorgeous!! The stonework, decor, fire, tropical plants, ropes on the ceiling, total ambiance, etc. is top notch!! Very sexy!! We had reservations for 10 at 7pm and the place was happening! My friend and I ordered the tomahawk pork chop and it was absolutely delicious!! The inside was juicy and the outside was perfectly caramelized. It came with a side of mashed potatoes and mixed fresh vegetables. It was perfect! Everyone else enjoyed their dishes as well. The service was great and our entire evening went off without a hitch! We all agreed we would return soon. Highly recommend.

Yes, the food is very good and the service very good, but we felt this was very over-priced. I am sure it will do well because of its location, but not sure we'll be back. We feel Red O across the street is a better value for the money.

Hey guess what, if you have a baby, don't come here, they're not welcome. Strollers can't be brought inside, annoying but okay, fine, your restaurant your rules. They said they'll store it and I asked if it was going to be in a safe place. Strollers aren't cheap. Guess where they put it? Outside the restaurant, down the block, where it started drizzling. Cool move guys. Here's where it gets worse, we asked for the manager to express our concern and the first thing he says is why is your stroller inside. Seriously? You just left our personal belongings hanging out outside unattended. We had a 5:30pm dinner on a Sunday night in a mall, we're not exactly making your restaurant less cool by bringing a stroller inside. You're in UTC, not Vegas. Btw, we asked for water for our dogs and they said it's policy not to give them water. Been to 500+ restaurants in San Diego for my food writing gigs. Can't ever say I've experienced anything like this but guess there's a first for everything.

My wife, daughter, and I tried Javier’s for the first time when visiting the Westfield UTC mall today. (First-time visitors to the mall should know that there is no good signage directing you to the escalators that take you straight to Javier’s entrance. As a result, you might find (as we did) that you will walk through most of the street- level mall to get the other down escalator, and then have to walk several blocks through parking and street sidewalks to get you the long way to the entrance.) Once we arrived, however, we were very taken with the sophisticated decor, and were seated at a table with excellent views. Our server was friendly and professional throughout lunch. Our drinks were excellent, and my enchiladas with chorizo delicious. Javier’s is absolutely the kind of restaurant to which we would return often.
The $100 Taco
Stopped in for a late lunch mid-week while I was visiting a friend in San Diego. Although the restaurant was virtually empty, and wait staff members were visibly standing around, the waiter took his time greeting us, slow-rolled our drinks, and was generally aloof. Is this some kind of cool vibe this restaurant wants to project? News flash - it's located in a shopping center. They have no lunch menu and everything was very expensive. We would have left, but our drinks finally arrived so we stuck it out...ordered tacos and a cheese appetizer that was just odd. Save your money. This place is not for everyday people.
