Great restaurant

By Mark Cloherty |

Great resturaunt, the best Lebanese restaurant we've found in San Antonio by some way...friendly staff, spacious and good restaraunt, great food and plenty of good parking available. Prices are affordable too

If you like very tasty variety of Middle Eastern food, go here. If you're looking for great service and very friendly atmosphere, go here. Looking for fair price, again go here. Highly recommended

Oriental food heaven

By ghonaimy |

A real traditional oriental middle eastern food rich menu. The salads are great, delicious homos and freshly grilled halal meats. A must visit while in San Antonio

Passed by this place, looking for another place while in the Ormond breach area and decided to stop and see what they offered. Well, we did see and ordered some shawarma, oh my what a find, they were great. A must try.

Yum

My fiancée and I were thrilled to see a new Jerusalem Grill opened up closer to us. They are now our go to Mediterranean food in the medical center area. The chicken shawarma was so moist (it blew a certain place across the street out of the water!). The hummus was the most tasty I've had in San Antonio. Baba ghanoush was fantastic. They also have a fanTastic take out option: one meat and two sides for around $10 already ready to go. A must eat!

100% Great Dining Experience and very Reasonable Menu Prices!

By Kayaking-Flatwater |

We cruised in from the hill country looking for a place eat. We decided to try something new. Jerusalem Grill was our choice. The food was great! The service was excellent. All the wait staff and hosts were inviting and eager to please. Our bill was $38.00 for a party of three. That included an incredible Chicken Kabob plate (enough for two people), a Vegetarian Plate (again, enough for two people), one appetizer, and an extra bowl of lentil soup. It was a wonderful dining experience and different cuisine for our usual outs-to-eat.

Lunch was delicious!

Highly recommend! The best middle eastern food in San Antonio! Even better than places I've visited in the northeast and south Florida.

Delicious gyro

By toya h |

This is hard for me to review because I didn’t enjoy the spices used in the vegetarian platter. This type of food is new to me so I’m not sure how it’s supposed to taste but the flavors were not my favorite. Now my husband, on the other hand said his mixed gyro platter was delicious and he wants to go back soon. The naan bread was warm and soft and the dipping oil was amazing. You order from the menu and all the dishes they serve are displayed cafeteria-style if you want to look at them first.

Enjoyable Meal

By YO_LOOK_AT_ME |

Definitely happy with this place. They've maintained the same quality of food and service as they have at their other location...totally enjoyed the meal and the hummus was delicious...definitely recommend a visit.

I hope Jerusalem is this good

I'm not especially familiar with Middle Eastern food, but I tried it a few times around the country. I've rarely trusted to try it in San Antonio, but sure am glad we pulled in here on a lark. We will certainly be back to try more. Best feta I've ever put in my mouth! The meat and vegetables were grilled to Perfection with some kind of amazing seasoning that I wish I could understand and recreate. The hummus is out of this world and the rice is divine, to say nothing of the bread!

Great lunch. Very fresh salad, great seasoned beef, hummus was off the charts. I would like wine on the menu, though.

Fresh eats

By April T |

We decided to try out this new spot mainly because the place seems to be empty and we wanted to give it a chance. We were pleasantly pleased with the cleanliness and friendly prompt service! The building used to be a grungy IHop restaurant so the transformation is wonderful to say the least. I ordered the beef shawarma and my date had the chicken shawarma. My beef was tasty but a little tough. The chicken was moist and perfect. The hummus and rice were excellent and the side salad was on point! I'm going to try to make a similar version at home - that's how good it is! Jerusalem Grill will be a restaurant we will return to on the occasion we are craving Middle Eastern eats - affordable and tasty!

Mediterranean Food Mecca

By Tarey T |

We spied this on our drive home and it peaked our interest. We looked it up for food choices and decided we needed to check it out. We are happy that we did. The service was excellent and our waiter was wonderful with my precocious grandson. Put this place on your “must visit” list.

Best ever!!

I love the Jerusalem Grill. Just wish they had one closer to where we live. Freshly made hummus large portions melt in your mouth lamb. It's wonderful!

Great Variety and Taste

By westernfb |

We tried the kebab meal for two, which involved selecting three meats and five sides. The flatbread that came before and during the meal was good. Our second piece was stale, so we complained, and a fresh, hot piece was quickly brought in replacement. The amount of meat on the kebab plate (looked like a fajita serving plate that you would see in a Mexican restaurant) was less than we expected (approx. three small pieces each of chicken, ground lamb, and beef) but it tasted good. The sides, which included Baba Ghann. and Hummus, were very good, and it was difficult to stop eating them with the bread. Service was very friendly and attentive. The inside of this casual restaurant was nothing terribly inviting, but it was comfortable enough. For approx. thirty dollars for two, we though that the meal was a good value and would return again.

We tried the menu and this place became an instant favorite. Service was responsive to our needs and caters to the working class with fast and tasty food.

Wonderful food

By Craig B |

Came to eat here at the request of our son who is based at Fort Sam Houston. We were here to spend a week with him and ate here and what a wonderful meal we had. We had the platter for 6 which came with 12 appetizers. What a great meal.

Overwhelmed!!!

By Doctor_Possum |

As mentioned in my first review about a month ago, I was looking forward to returning to have their "chef's special dinner." Well, it actually called a "Family Dinner," and it was much more than expected. We started off with usual plate of oil and flatbread followed by just about every appetizer on the menu plus falafels and both chicken and beef schwarma! That's it? Nooooo!!! Then came the main entree consisting of a huge platter heaped high with lamb, kafta and chicken kabobs. They were spot on flavor-wise, all being juicy and succulent. I was with folks who usually don't eat a lot but I gotta tell you--there wasn't a thing left and we demolished that dinner!!! I think we amazed the manager and wait staff as we're all senior citizens with me being the youngest at 71! Starve yourself a for a few days, then gather at least three more guests and order the Family Dinner. For at $15.95 (as of this writing) a person, perhaps one of the best food bargains in town. You'll be stuffed to the gills and will certainly be happy!

Good Mediterranean food

By sazm42 |

Seems like there's been an influx of Mediterranean restaurants in San Antonio but I'm not complaining! I thought I'd be trying out Jewish food bit the waiter I spoke with told me Jerusalem is a mixture of Jewish or Moroccan food, and this grill offers the Moroccan flavors? Anyway, I ordered a trio of meats. Excellent

Always yummy! My favorite place for Middle Eastern Cuisine in San Antonio

By Travelingcoloratura |

A friend and I met up here for dinner upon my return from Italy. The food is always tasty. The fried eggplant and humus are two favorites of mine along with the foul. Everyone on the JG team is always friendly and happy to make recommendations on dishes if one is needed. Looking forward to eating more meals with family and friends here. If you are looking for good cuisine with middle eastern flavoring and reasonable prices, Jerusalem Grill is a must on your dining list.

A True Gem!!!

By Doctor_Possum |

My friend and I were craving Middle Eastern food, so we made the trip from the wilds of Kerrville to the Big City as we'd heard that the Jerusalem Grill would fill the bill--and the tummy. Correct on both accounts. We ordered hummus and baba ghannoug for appetizers, mixed shawarma platters for entrees and baklava for dessert. Almost immediately there appeared a huge grilled pita and a dish of olive oil, spices and feta cheese. A nice start, as it brought back fond memories of my stay in Jerusalem many years ago. The appetizers were flavorful and we fought each other, dueling pita so to speak, down to the last dab. The shawarma platters certainly did not disappoint. They were huge--chicken, beef, salad, rice and more hummus (can never have too much of that!). Both meats were properly cooked, being flavorful and moist. The salad contained no lettuce, as is very common in the Middle East; its simple dressing accentuated rather than obscured the flavor of the vegetables. Even the rice was more yummy than most, having absorbed some juices from the meats. Finally, the baklava was a big hit with us both. Many times it's almost too sweet to bear but this was not. Sweet it was but not overly so--a really nice balance. My friend ordered some falafels to go. But as stuffed as we were, we couldn't resist sharing one once we were in the car. Like the rest of the food, it was wonderful; proper spicing with cumin predominating--just as it should be. The service was gracious with the manager constantly circulating among the tables bringing more pita and checking the guests' enjoyment of the food. This simple act is so often forgotten in American restaurant; mores the pity. We noticed that they offer a chef's special dinner for parties of four or more--we certainly will be back to give that a try.

Excellent Mediterranean Food

By Nomenclature871 |

The food here is well priced and delicious and healthy. The setting is modest. The service is quick. It seemed to me to be Greek food. We were the family of a patient in the hospital nearby and we ate here multiple times and enjoyed it every time. I wish we had one of these in our home city.

Lunch at Jerusalem Grill

By JulesTXgrl |

I really enjoyed lunch; hummus, chicken kabobs and the naan bread. The staff is very friendly and attentive. It's convenient, affordable and you receive a fantastic meal. I recently came across an article where they received very high scores on their health inspection. I know we all expect a high rating but in restaurant language, this goes to show the back of the house is as great as the front of the house and the staff cares about their customers.

Have to try

By RCS4316 |

Our family of 4 came here for dinner. The portion is big. The hummus that came with the entree was awesome. I'm not a big fan of chopped cucumbers and tomatoes salad but that salad that came with the dish was really good. They give you a big piece of nan /bread with sesame and cumin dipping. I thought the cumin would be too strong but I was wrong. It was just the perfect combination. We ordered chicken, beef, lamb kebob and they were all very good. The service was very attentive. All in all, we had a perfect dinner for the night. Also, the price was very reasonable too. I think it was around $13/$14 per dish. You have to try it. This location is near the medical district.

Wonderful

We had Jordanian food brought in from this location. Beautifully cooked lamb, rice and the yogurt gee sauce was out of this world. If you love middle eastern food the grill has it down pat.

Absolutely delicious hands down! This place is clean and the food is outstanding! I'm from the DFW area here visiting family and took them out to eat. No complaints!

In the mood for Middle Eastern food?

By caroatbastrop |

My family and I went there once and are now regular customers! The food is flavorful, fresh and just plain excellent!!!! Our favorite has been the dinner for 4 or dinner for 6 depends on the size of your party, but with the meal comes several appetizers, the grilled kabobs of chicken, lamb and beef and vegetables plus rice. The service is also also very good. If you like coffee...you must try the Turkish coffee and pair with their pistachio pastry. We will continue to go!!!!

Spur of the moment choice

By Jeff W |

I wanted something new and different so I pick this place because it was near my final destination. My family loves to travel internationally and this place made me feel like we were in another country. The wait staff, cooks and many of the diners did not seem “local”. Everyone was very welcoming, the food was amazing (even the basic Mac and Cheese for the kids- thanks!) and the Turkish coffee was excellent. It’s rare that I am surprised and fully pleased with a restaurant in San Antonio. I was both and put this place on my short list.

Barwa treated us to a feast!! The best FOOD!👍

By P1520TPandrewk |

This place is putting the HURT on Pasha's in San Antonio! The Jerusalem Grill is just what the doctor ordered, all the taste sensors went into overdrive. Go to this place as soon as you can. Barwa the waiter treated us with professionalism and culinary experience at every turn! I needed to tip him more and I am at a loss for that! He suggested the meal for four people and it was fantastic with every mouth full! Thank you so much for what you bring to the table here in San Antonio!

Excellent Kabobs

By DdG334 |

Needed to grab dinner after a long day at the office, and stumbled across Jerusalem Grill on my way out of town. I will definitely be back. I ordered the chicken kabob platter, and finished the entire thing. I started off with a huge flatbread with oil and spices; equal parts crisp and doughy. The chicken was perfectly cooked - nicely marinated with just a hint of crispiness on the outside, and moist inside. The hummus was excellently creamy and had a little more kick than I was expecting. The cucumber salad was crisp and tangy, and the rice was fluffy and tasty. Even accounting for how how hungry I was, this was probably one of the best kabob meals I've ever had.

Vegetarian Options

By Faith M |

I'm a vegetarian in Texas... specifically in San Antonio. Not easy. The Jerusalem Grill #2 was a happy serendipity. I was in the Medical area and hungry. I saw the sign and thought, "Well, they'll have hummus." What a great surprise. The Tabouleh Salad is fresh and crisp. Lovely. The server recommend the Fried Cauliflower. Do it!!! It is amazing- garlicky and olive oily!! And the Turkish bread... OMG... somewhere between naan bread and a flour tortilla. Made/grilled fresh while you wait. My new favorite carb. The Vegetarian plate has a little of everything. The Grape Leaves, Hummus, Baba Ghannoug and Falafels are good. Husband is a hunter raised on Tex-Mex. Tonight he sent me for a *To Go Plate* of the beef Shawarma. He's not good at trying new flavors, but loves this place. Says the meat is savory with perfect spices. Always says be sure to get me that special rice they make. Cleans his plate every time. Loves the bread and grapeleaves. We always get dessert. The restaurant is always clean and the service is quick. You can stand and watch them prepare your plate if you like. Always have lots of friendly staff.

Great food & service!

Great food and service Im glad they just opened their third location @ 1604. That restaurant is a must!

You can get either Gyros or Shawirma here.

By ABE49 |

This is my 2nd review of the Jerusalem Grill. It is hard to find a place where you can get either Gyros or Shawirma. Both excellent. They also try really hard here and seem to really want to please you which is nice. Wife couldn't finish the Gyros so I get to have it for lunch today. She also said the baklava is the best she has ever had and she is an expert! The have opened a new location near I-10 and Wurzbach Rd now as well.

The staff is amazing. The food is delicious, plenty, and the desserts are amazing. If you like food that really tastes like middle eastern food, this is the place.
