We stumbled on this place while exploring the Ponce market. The menu is huge and very unique. There were several items I had never seen before. We were flying that day so we're not too adventurous- Bang bang shrimp 🎉 Mongolian shrimp and a dry fried chicken dish that was amazing. I wish we could go back and try more unique dishes, it was great!!!

THIS IS THE WORST CHINESE RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. The Scallion Bubble Pancake was drenched in oil, the double cooked pork was literally all fat, the other dishes were all greasy, the waiter got our order wrong & the hostesses were so unhelpful that they would not take our group picture. Terrible, terrible, terrible experience! Save your money & go somewhere else!

The best Chinese restaurant if you are not able to get to Buford highway. Very spicy food (to my liking)!

Quick food had wonton soup a spicy beef jerky dish with rice friendly fast informative bartender nice spot

It was hard to decide where to eat because there were so many choices. It boiled down to which restaurant had open tables. The food was OK. We shared steamed dumplings, spicy pheasant noodles, and dandan noodles. The tables could have used a good cleaning and the waitress could have shown her face a little more.

This was my first time at this location. I ordered shredded chicken and asked the waiter to tell the cook NOT TO ADD ANY SPICY ITEMS TO IT. He assured me that he would tell them no spicy sauce on the meal. My food came out (looking & smelling good) as i put the food in my mouth I immediately began to cough, my eyes began to tear up and I had to spit it out of my mouth. I had to drink my water and everyone's water that was sitting at my table. Needless to say between couging & gagging from the heat i had to re order something else. Well my ulcer is going to kick my behind today (spicy food isn't good for ulcers)

Jia is described as serving authentic Sichuan or Szechuan cuisine. From the menu, I noticed varied offerings that differed vastly from the menus of Chinese restaurants I had been to in the past. After reviewing the menu, I decided on an appetizer and a main course. Shout out to our awesome waitress Kate for your recommendations! We started off with the Dry Fried Eggplants or "aubergines," as it is called in French, for our appetizer. This was an amazing start to the meal. The eggplants were light and crispy on the outside with a dense creamy center. The savory combination of spices and herbs that garnished the eggplant were the perfect compliment to a vegetable that can sometimes be bitter. For our entree we had the Bamboo Fish - "Deep fried fish fillet with spicy and numbing flavors served on a bamboo basket", with fried rice. The fish was light and crispy, but slightly greasy. The bouquet of spices that were similar to that of the fried eggplants gave balance to the dish. My dining experience at Jia gave me a new appreciation for Chinese food. The dishes that I tried were complex with bold flavors that captivated my taste buds. Each bite was a synesthetic fusion of unexpected flavors. I highly recommend that you check out Jia on your adventure at Ponce City Market.

I had the Garlic Chicken and it was extremely tasty! It was also very spicy, which is a good thing, for me. I can handle lots of heat, but found this to be near the top of my range, so you should consider this when ordering. There were some amazing, contrasting flavors in this dish. The portion size was great as well. They sliced the chicken and vegetables in thin strips, almost julienne style, which I like as well. I will definitely eat here again when in the area.

have to start by saying that I have eaten at their other locations, including my favorite Tasty China in Marietta. While I like Jia, I am partial to Tasty China which is far more 'flavorable" and spicy - which I like. Example being the numbing beef dish is order of magnitude more powerful at Tasty China than at Jia. All that said, this is a nice restaurant, with good service, and a good selection of dishes, but I would caution that anyone expecting or used to spicy Szechuan will be disappointed that it is way more mild. Knowing all this, we will be back !

Nouveau Chinese cuisine. Menu is tempting. Go for it! There are lunch specials but really nothing exotic. So opt for the full menu! Maybe black ear mushrooms. This is a somewhat small venue so seating can get cramped if full. One downside - service may be slow and wait staff seemed forgetful. Located inside food hall of Ponce City Market.

We have been hear couple of times and both occasions was not disappointed. Very nice ensemble of dishes to choose from. Will definitely re-visit this place.

My family and I were in Ponce City Market on a Monday afternoon and wanted a lunch spot that was vegetarian friendly for one member of our group. Jia fit the bill. We started with the Fried Eggplant appetizer which was quite good. For the vegetarian there were plenty of vegetable and tofu choices. For the rest of us, the Mongolian Beef and Kong Pao Chicken did not disappoint. But the shining star was by far the Home Style Mixed Seafood in Clay Pot. It was jam packed with shrimp, mussels, the most delectable and perfectly cooked fish, corn on the cob, and other vegetables. It was in a savory yet mild mild curry sauce. One thing to keep in mind, the clay pot is HOT and it continues to cook some of the items in the pot. So if you don't want things to be overcooked, remove them from the pot and put them on your plate. Overall a great experience and I would definitely go back, especially for the Home Style Mixed Seafood in Clay Pot.

I highly recommend this restaurant . For our family of 4 we ordered some chicken and noodles, dumplings and General Tso chicken. It was very flavorful and we ate outside so it was a great atmosphere. The staff is friendly and our tab was about $117.

Decor: Well appointed Chinese decor. Ornate without being kitchy. tables very deep so people across from each other are a bit far to talk softly and be heard. Uncomfortable wobbly single person bench seating with no back. Tables abut wall, making it hard to eat. Service: Attentive, yet not overbearing. Could not describe dishes accurately to us Food: Decent Sichuan fare, but nothing spectacular. The two chicken dishes were spicy and well balanced. The lamb dish was a dud. Extraordinarily fatty slices of lamb in an incredibly bland broth without a hint of flavor ( ironically, the most expensive dish we ordered.) Presentation is good, with most foods served in a small wok over a hot sterno. Price: What one would expect from an moderately upscale Sichuan restaurant, but honestly the overall value is not great. There are better choices, though this one has the advantage of being in the newly opened hipster haven of Ponce City Market

We visited Ponce City Market at 4pm on a Wednesday afternoon so it was not busy at all. I cannot verify if the restaurant can handle a busier timeframe, but our service was good. The menu had many unique items, so we ordered multiple dishes so we could take leftovers to our hotel. The basil chicken and the salt and pepper shrimp were outstanding. The spicy beef with tofu might be too spicy for some but it was very good too.

Everything was decent... Drinks were sub par, service was decent... My food came out at lease five minutes after my friends, which was so lame. I had the chicken with pepper and scallions and it was actually really good but everything else was just okay.

been to several of pc's restaurants and this just doesn't measure up. not enough flavor and spice. and do not, i repeat, do not get the soup dumplings. they should just take it off the menu - it stuck to the container and spilled inside. also, the dough was super thick. but do get the dry-fried eggplant app and the cumin lamb dish.

Very nice tasting Chinese food with some different flavors. The food came out fast and tasty and the staff was pleasant. The ribs, green beans, and the dried beef were all nice.

Would not go back but it's good for one experience, just to eat in the area. My group ordered lamb, chicken and shrimp dishes. There were no rave reviews about any but the vegetables which are a separate additional side is good. The veggies are fresh and prepared well. The restaurant is too crowded, seating is tight.

Inexcusably bad food. Hostesses appeared frantic Spring rolls served with a sauce that had no flavor other than white sugar. Both the chicken and shrimp entrees and cabbage side dish floating in greasy sauces. We all had indigestion the rest of the day.

Perhaps the worst restaurant food I have ever been served. A taste so foul and off that i tried for 15 minutes to wash the taste out of my mouth. My companions meal approached edible but mine (Kung Pao Chicken) was a disaster. When I requested to speak to the manager, I was told that this was "authentic Chinese food" and that I wasn't used to it. Rather than detail my decades of eating "authentic dishes from around the world, I will simply guarantee you that no "Authentic Chinese food" expert would ever dare to claim this dish. Avoid at all costs.

We were in the Ponce market where there's many food choices. My daughter and I settled on this place. She's vegan and was able to get a good meal for herself, which isn't always easy. I ordered chicken in garlic sauce, which was very good. It was a little strange that they don't offer brown rice (even upon request), but it was a very tasty meal. There's plenty of food, so if you're with 4 people, then 3 dishes will be more than sufficient.

My husband and I went for a weekday lunch and were seated immediately at the bar. We ordered and my husband's entree came out quickly and wasn't bad but after we finished that entree the waitress came out to tell me my entree wasn't available and asked what else I would like. Should one entree be brought out before the other and should it take 20 minutes for the kitchen to realize they can'I fulfill an order? I asked what could be made quickly and she went to ask the kitchen staff and came back and said nothing could be made quickly so she would bring the bill. She was actually as pleasant as she could be in this situation but it was really clear that nobody present knew how to run a restaurant. The manager even stopped by to apologize but was not really even seeming to want to do that, I think the waitress told him he had to. Overall this was a really bad experience and with so many other great choices nearby this one is worth skipping.

I ordered the spicy crispy beef and was definitely not disappointed. This was the best thing I ate during our trip to Atlanta, by far. I asked for it to have mild spice instead of the extra hot it was supposed to be, and that was just enough heat. Excellent, excellent flavors.

We've had a lunch on Tuesday the November 26th the located inside a Ponce market . It was 10 minutes after 2 pm so we've order regular meals .. Normally I thought the lunch hours are till 4 pm in NYC or 2:30 but unfortunately it was until 2 pm . Ordered a dumpling to start then waitress told us that it will take 15 minutes. WOW. I assume that they do have to make from fresh. or else? The food was okay. Services was okay .. So it was okay :):)

We arrived early in the evening and even though there were plenty of table we were taken to the very last table which looks straight into the kitchen and storage area... We are a family of four and ordered the bang bang shrimp - for the price we got very few prawns - a total of 3 each. The next two dishes tasted terrible and the dumplings were stoggy. Like they had just defrosted them. We thought we'd have a nice family night out eating something different - well we certainly will not be going back. Bad value and terrible customer service and atomosphere, I regretted sitting down after the first order came. Don't do it.

Unique, out of the ordinary. VERY LONG AND INTERESTING MENU. Helps that they have pictures, bring your sticky notes to mark your favorites and then decide. Been here four times now and every time I enjoy something new and different. Everything have been pretty good to excellent so far. They do have a big selection of different plates including Lamb, Cornice, Pork, Beef, Fish, Shrimp, seafood mix, Chicken, Duck. We go as a family and order like crazy and share. Careful with the spice, it may be too much for some. Service can be a little tricky and food have never come together, they just keep bringing in random plates until the table is covered with food. I don't mind this but my wife does. The tables are not big and the stools are wobbly, but for me it adds to the experience.

We've been here so many times. I would say they have the best Chinese cuisine in Atlanta area. Period. We live in Suwanee but never mind driving an hour for this place. You'll get everything: great ambience, delicious food, reasonable price, and good services.I highly recommend this restaurant!

Ponce City Market is a surprising home for an extremely authentic Szechuan restaurant, but Jia is legitimately great. My friends and I got a dinner here and were extremely impressed by the quality and value of the food. Even in Ponce City, the decor here is impressive. We loved the garlic chicken, dan dan noodles, and tofu/beef stew. This is the best place south of Buford Highway to sit down and eat Chinese!

We have been here several times since PCM complex opened eating in all three seating choices available- bar, inside regular seating and patio. plenty of room and 3 distinct areas. We prefer the bar and patio- people watching is better. PAtio is best for over 3 people, nice big round tables for larger gatherings. Such a wide selection on this menu, great for sharing. We like spicy food and they deliver. if it says numbing- they mean it and can be too scary for some who dont like spicey. We eat here more often than any other place at PCM and there are certainly lots of choices! IF you like Asian food give it a try.

Situated in the busy food court. Seating inside the restaurant, one big table to seat six persons and rest for four persons Minimum spend USD 12 per person Beverage allowed from outside but not the food Twenty percent gratuity added to the bill for a party of five or more Take out available with a service charge of 10% Wide choice of menu Cold and hot appetizers are available Spice level indicated on the menu Traditional and American style dishes are available The helpings are very large and one dish can easily serve two persons Freshly made and good taste Service very quick

We’re at the Ponce City Market in Atlanta and decided to try Jia Szechuan Food and Bar. It’s an amazing place to eat Chinese food. The food’s delicious, we tried a variety of dishes here and they have all been excellent. I gave four stars because of slow service and lack of communication from the staff. Still recommend giving this restaurant a try!

I've tried 3 of the Bao including the chicken, pork, and mushroom and they have all been good. The prices are reasonable and buns themselves have good texture with a lot of flavor in the filling.

Get ready for spice! The food at Jia is spicy hot and full of flavor. The flavor palate is made up of exotic spices and peppers not found in other Chinese food. This food is delicious and leaves you craving more.

Visiting our son and his family in Atlanta for the weekend. After living in both London and New York and traveling at least annually to Hong Kong we have been used to good chinesse food, Jia had the atmosphere of HK, menu had photos of the varios dishes, it was crowded but very efficient. The food was excellent. We enjoyed sharing Generral Chao's Chicken, beef, beef and cilantro ,bang bang chicken. Soups were good as well. Be careful as a lotrb of the dishes are quite hot.

Well, we went back. This time our experience was less satisfactory than the last; it will be awhile before we come back, and that's a shame because we walk to Ponce City Market. We ordered 3 different dishes that had a lot of peppers or pepper flakes each. All look beautiful like they came out of cooking magazine. But all were LOADED with salt. This has gotten worse since we last visited. We just can't eat food with that much salt. It was much too hot to eat inside the restaurant so we ate out on the concrete patio. The chairs at the tables have gotten very bad, the one I sat on first was broken. We swapped it out but told the server. I don't know if she understood us. All of our food came out at the same time even though one dish was supposed to be an appetizer and we ordered it that way. No apologies, the server just loaded up our table and walked briskly away. She never checked on us either. We had both purchased drinks (alcohol) and wanted more because of the sodium but couldn't get her back to the table. Over all we were both very unimpressed.

Awful. One word. Service was the worst I've had in Atlanta. Food arrived late for 9 of 10 in party and the 1 never received food despite 4 individual conversations with 2 waiters. Food was not very good. Could have had better at a fast food buffet location. I ordered City Chen Chicken which was dry and lacked spice. Outside dinning resulted in party being inundated with flies. Overall very poor. Would never eat their again.

After having been to 2 out of 4 of the other “Tasty China” restaurants in Atlanta I was expecting the same level of quality here at Ponce City Market. I was disappointed. My favorite dish, the dry fried eggplant with numbing powder, tasted ok but it came out over-fried, greasy, and mushy on the inside - not the lightly fried delightful dish I was expecting. This was like badly done steak fries that had been left in the grease too long. The wonton soup was not even any good - the wontons were over-cooked and the broth was bland. Nothing like the soup we have had at the other restaurants and it was not served with any fried noodles, which at least would have added some interest. Try one of the other establishments in Smyrna, Sandy Springs or Marietta.

Food was good and service was speedy. Our table was warped. We were seated at a round table that was significantly slanted so food would pool on one side of our plates and some overflowing onto the table because of how the table was. There were five of us traveling together for work and our server was efficient at running all of our cards so that we could go. The food was warm and had a good flavor. Portions were good and none of us left hungry. Food is designed to be shared family style, but you can certainly eat the individual item all yourself.

This place has been highly recommended, so I was quitre surprised and disappointed to have had such a terrible experience from start to finish. i went with my family: four adults and two infants. The hostess was rude. There was a long wait, although the restaurant was far from full. Once seated, nobody came to greet us or bring us drinks. They were sold out of the specials and dishes we'd heard good things about. I ordered an appetizer so the baby could start eating, and it arrived AFTER the adults' food. The food the adults ordered was not great. My sister ordered the General Tso and attempted to send it back. They offered to make her something else but would not take it off her order. We were so over the entire experience that we didn't want to wait for them to try to make something better. The most insulting part of the night was the restuarant adding gratuity for party of 6. Assuming that infants would be included in such a guest count, the restaurant had completely forgotten to bring us the baby's food! Don't waste your time or money here.

Visiting with my daughter from Canada. Good szechuan and good value. The location in the food hall of the Ponce City Market is a real plus. The waiter was very helpful in choosing from the menu which has lots of choices.

This was the best Chinese Food I have ever had. It was light and not heavy. Portions are huge and service was quick

Not your typical Americanized Chinese food. Definitely try the hot and numbing beef rolls and the bamboo fish. The dry fried eggplant is also good. If your dishes don't come to the table in your expected sequence, don't worry, just enjoy the food! It's part of the quirkiness of eating at this authentic Chinese restaurant.

OK I have to start out with saying that while I'm American I've lived in China and visited Szechuan Province several times. So, I understand my expectations may be different than Jia's average customer. I got the Shan City Chicken and I was hoping for a bit of the flavor that you would have found in Peter Chang's place or even Gu's when they were on Buford Highway. Jia had a nice atmosphere, good location, and a decent menu. But the flavors tasted milder and with less punch. I didn't get the same mouth feel from Szechuan peppers I was expecting. The crispness of the chicken was fine but the punch of spicy heat wasn't there. The rice was dry and tasted like it had been there all day. But, my guests were satisfied with their selection, and the staff was helpful and friendly. Prices are on par with the rest of the Market, but much higher than you would get elsewhere.

Nice experience and change from the back yard, Which mean it's good to get out sometimes. Lol Anyway very crowded at the Ponce market plus plenty to eat and shop at. Food was good, No complaints and the tables seating was very intimate and customer service was also good.

Atlanta has very few decent Chinese restaurants. Regretfully, this is one of the worst I've been to. There was nothing exciting about this experience besides leaving to get some real food next door at Minero. Drinks were simple, a Second Self beer and a $9 Tito's and tonic. The cocktail arrived in a tiny glass garnished with an extremely thin, brown lime. My date looked upset. They didn't have my beer, so I ordered a different one. Meanwhile I sneaked into Minero to ask for a few limes. The waitress, who had zero personality, brought me a warm beer. Bad omens. The food, well, it was disgusting. Our dish was supposed to have an abalone sauce. It was plain, brown, watery and had no flavor. The seafood pouches were nasty too, mushy fish and chewy dough. Finally the soup we ordered as an appetizer arrived, and it tasted like hot dishwater with a few floating bits of kale. Inedible. So I walked through the rather dirty restaurant to speak to the manager. She was playing with eBay on her laptop rather than monitoring her staff and customers. She removed the food from the check. We paid for our drinks, noticing all the terrible food sprawled out on our table despite plenty of employees who were standing around doing nothing. Unacceptable. We went to Minero and had great tacos and mezcal.

We were craving soup dumplings and were staying up the street at the Clermont Hotel. Saturday afternoon was a madhouse at PCM. Found the eatery and were able to snag a table in the cramped, messy eatery. Place was packed so I hoped that our soup dumplings would be good. Our server was friendly and efficient. We ordered the soup dumplings, cumin lambs and dry fried green beans. The dumplings were very disappointing; the skin was too thick and a few of the dumplings were torn. The lamb was flavorful and not too spicy. My favorite dish was the green beans. We were seated in a cramped table next to a set of shelves where odds and ends, take out containers and such were thrown. The search for good soup dumplings in Atlanta continues.....

Great Chinese food! Unlike any I've ever had. We tried Shan City Pork Belly and Wuxi Ribs. Both were so delicious. Pork belly was melt in your mouth and had quite a spicy kick. The ribs were sticky, sweet, and fall of the bone tender. I can't say enough good things. Highly recommended!

Friends and I recently tried Jia, the Szechuan restaurant at Ponce City Market. It was a hit and miss experience. Even the hostess seemed apprehensive as she seated us. We ordered 2 appetizers, the spring roll and the hot and numbing beef role. The spring role was merit-less, bland with a tasteless dipping sauce. The beef roll was excellent. Very spicy beef and cold lettuce wrapped in a flour tortilla. For entrees we had chicken with mushrooms, bang bang shrimp and dry fried beef. The chicken was a generous portion with good flavor, the shrimp was very good; a crispy coating and sweet and spicy sauce. The beef was merit-less, tasting mostly like home made beef jerky. No liquor license when we went. I would say that if you go and order the right dishes you will get a very good meal and a very reasonable price.

Extensive menu, spicy but you can ask them to dial it down. Everything we ordered was very tasty. I would go back to try more options.

I went here with my husband on a Thursday evening for dinner. The whole market was pretty busy and we found this place and were able to get a table immediately. We did not have an appetizer or drinks, but went straight to our entrees. I had the beef with mixed mushrooms, which was very good. My husband had the Kong Pao Chicken and enjoyed it, as well. The portions were very hearty and we had no room for dessert. The service is certainly not a featured service, but I feel as if that is just part of the restaurant and the way they are. However, the food was good and I would recommend it for anyone into asian cuisine.

The menu was large, however there were a couple of items that we requested on the menu that when asked for, we were told they weren't actually on the menu anymore. They allowed us to share a plate. The food came out in a strange order as it appeared the chef for appetizers was running behind. The outdoor seating area was great and our waitress very kind. The friend chicken under dishes like the sweet and sour dish appeared to be chicken nuggets dipped in sauce. It was tasty, but wasn't what we expected. Spring rolls were yummy. Expected soy sauce with the dumplings, however it was not a soy sauce and I couldn't decipher what it was. The sausage dumplings weren't minced sausage - it was actual pieces of sausage link cut up into the dumpling - that was weird and not very tasty. We would go back but definitely would not get dumplings again.

We love Szechuan. Took 92-year old mom for her year of new discoveries in food. We loved it. She loved it. Well done; particularly for a restaurant in a mall.

I went her with my daughter and we got 2 apps and 2 meals. Way too much food. Their portions here are large so plan accordingly. Steamed dumplings and the numbing beef were great. She got the General Tao’s chicken, mild on the spice and very addictive. It was abt 13$ and had about 2 full chix breast’s of chicken. I got the crispy fish, A huge pile that was delicious. It was topped with a chili salt that crept up on me. We should have shared an entree. Staff was friendly and attentive, and filled my water abt 5 times. Food came out very fast for after 5pm on a Friday. Got much busier around 6.30. Go with friends and share some things.

Thought this restaurant would be great. Really different menu. Cute atmosphere. Dishes were mediocre. Dried string beans were soggy. Peasant noodle appetizer was unexciting. Pork belly dish was interesting. We asked for all our dishes to be spicy. They were not. Staff was disinterested.

Stopped here for a quick Xiao Long Bao lunch and left very disappointed. The dough was way too thick, most of the dumplings were ripped open by the time they got to us, and the rest were stuck to the cabbage leaves lining the steamer leaving us with little hope of enjoying any of the soup part of these soup dumplings. Because of the thick dough and spilled broth, we ended up with what were essentially overpriced meatballs and even those weren't very tasty.

I'm a big fan of Tasty China, so I was excited to try this place out when it opened at PCM. I had dinner for the first time at Jia on a busy Friday night in early May 2017. Overall, I enjoyed my visit there. I ordered the spicy garlic chicken and it was very good. I usually don't care much for spicy foods, but this one was right up my alley. Everything tasted fresh, all the ingredients worked well together -- pretty good Sichuan fare. The service was a little slow, but not awful considering how busy it was. I have been back for take-away since my first visit, and the food was just as good as the first time (less rice though). I like this place and will continue to return for Friday night take-out when the craving strikes. Keep up the good work.

I first tried jia when they first opened. It was spotty. I went back last night and had a wonderful meal. There are many great places to eat at Ponce City Market, but we chose Jia because we were in the mood for Chinese and could sit at their large outdoor patio. We started with Bang Bang Shrimp, which was the dish I most enjoyed last time. Again it was very good. But our entrees were out of this world. My son and I split Dry Fried Shredded Chicken and Bamboo Fish. Both dishes were enormous servings and both were fried. The chicken were very thin slices, very crispy and tasty in a sweet and soy sauce. The fish, with lots of dried red peppers and scallions was in bite sized pieces in a hot and tangy Szechuan "numbing" sauce. The menu here is filled with Szechuan dishes and we both can't wait to go back and try some more.

Very very average food. This place should move to the side of cheap mall. Only passable item was the basil chicken. Returned several dishes. Moving on.

Loved it. We had eggplant, green beans, a spicy chicken dish and then a beef that was served up with a cilantro bed underneath. It was lunch and our time was tight. They did an amazing job with all the dishes. These are not chinese food found in the US type dishes. These were spicy and delightful. Could not stop eating. And the prices were super reasonable. Would go back in an instant.

Did I say sad? We have been anticipating the opening of Jia for months. We waited a bit after they first opened and finally went. We have now been three times. I will describe each visit and it should explain the overall rating of a 2. Wanted to give it a 1 but couldn't. If you look at any of my reviews of places to eat I generally rate on the high side. First Visit (about mid Oct). We were seated and had a great person help us. Couldn't tell us much about the food because she hadn't tried much of it. Well, ok, we know a bit about Szechuan food so we can stumble through this. We ordered 3 things all with 2 chili peppers. We both like spicy food. We ordered the Szechuan pork bun(hamburger). the Dry Fried Eggplant, and a Hot and Numbing Beef Roll. First the Szechuan Pork Hamburger came out then another one arrived(we only ordered 1), It was delicious. The green onions, cilantro and other spices were perfect. The bun was amazing. I would not give it any peppers...not spicy at all. We decided to eat only one as we had so much other food to be delivered. The Dry Fried Eggplant came out and it was very good. Not as good as Gu's but very good. Not quite 2 peppers for Hot and Numbing but maybe 2 minus. They served a bowl of fried rice that was the best fried rice either of had ever had. Now the Hot and Numbing Beef Rolls came out and they are served cold. Now what we were expecting. It also had a rating of 2 chills. These rolls had a pretty good taste, but they were more like a 5 chili pepper rating. They were so hot they started to burn my lips. Neither of us could eat them. The beef was tough and we could not taste anything but HOT. We were glad they brought us the extra Szechuan Pork Burger. It helped a lot with the hot mouth. Second Visit (about 2 weeks after first visit). We sat at the bar. It had maybe one other person sitting there when we arrived. We ordered the dumplings, hot and sour soup, fried rice, and those wonderful little Szechuan Pork Burgers. We were informed by the bartender that the dumplings would take about 15 minutes and we said no problem. We looked up and the bar was full (approximately 12 to 14 people). Everyone had food in front of them like pronto. We asked for some food and we got out one bowl of hot and sour soup, then we got out one bowl of fried rice. Everyone finished their food at the bar and another group were seated all around us. Still no food. I asked the bartender and he went and checked. Still working on the dumplings and the pork burger. About 30 minutes into sitting there everyone at the bar had food in front of them. We watched as all were eating and we still had no food. 40 Minutes later we said. Please bring our check. We don't want to wait any longer. Bartender said that we would not be charged for the $3 soup and the $1 for the rice. Third Visit (less than 2 weeks after second visit). We talk friends into going to JIA with us. There was confusion at the entry. But it was 11:38AM and they opened at 11:00AM. The restaurant had 2 people sitting at a table. We sat and asked if we could move to a larger table. No problem. We had empty water glasses on our table with menus in front of us. The bar was filling up. Food was being served to the bar patrons. The tables in our sight were filling up. Drinks(sodas) were being served and still after 22 minutes of total neglect we left. We new what we were ordering, were ordering enough for probably 8 people because we couldn't make up our minds....and still not even a hello, go to H _ _ L or even any water. The wait staff just would walk by and look at us. This place better get its act together. I would not recommend it to anyone. Stick with Gu's at the Krog Street Market or go to Buford Hwy were the service is much better. Get those chili peppers correct if you are going to use pepper indicators.

They understand how busy the restaurant can get but they sat us outside and left us there tried to get another waiters attention and was ignored finally the manager came out but refused to let us order from the bar but a table across from us had bar drinks YES I AM P OFF AND WANT THEM TO KNOW IT KEEP THIS TYPE IF SERVICE UP AND THE RESTAURANT WILL END UP OUT OF BUSINESS

We heard great things about their other location, but the was the other location. We shared a large table with another couple and everyone was exasperated by the end of the meal. Two of our items never came out and one of the entry's came as we finished eating. The manager said we could have it at half price, I told her we were done eating, no thank you. The other couple received their credit card charge with nothing charged( wont stay in business long like that). They alerted the waiter who corrected it. Sorry, I almost forgot. The food was nothing to draw us back again..

Garlic Chicken or Beef dishes are my favorite. You need to ask for mild or less spice if you have a weak stomach like me. General Tsos, Cumin Lamb and Bamboo Fish are also amazing entrees. Everything comes with a side of fried rice. Service is fast and no frills just like I expect out a Chinese restaurant. Don't expect some fancy ambiance.

Atlanta has a sad shortage of Chinese restaurants, let alone authentic ones. Thankfully Jia is here to save the day! I loved it although I must admit the service was somewhat shoddy. If you're looking for real Chinese cuisine in the heart of the ATL then this is the spot for you. Buckle up your tastebuds cuz they're about to get blown off. Pros: - Expansive menu with tons of options you wouldn't normally see in American Chinese food - When they say spicy, they mean spicy, and that's a rare treat! - I loved every dish that I tried Cons: - Service was slowish and whatever the opposite of charming is (sullen comes to mind) - The people in my party who had less exposure to Asian food weren't as happy with their dishes Try: - Beef in clay hot pot Skip: - Soup dumplings

Visiting from Fla and made our first stop at Ponce Market. We decided to eat here and was over the top pleased! We had the spicy peanuts done with green onions in a spicy sauce as an app. Yum! Next we ordered the mushrooms stir fried in a brown sauce. Great heat. I would come here all the time if I lived here!

I got the bean beans with white rice with is vegan, it was amazing. The best green beans I have had in my life, I really with it was closer.

Finally! An actually GOOD restaurant inside PCM. After trying five other restaurants at PCM, and being thoroughly disappointed at the price-quality-quantity of them all; feeling like it's all "aesthetics over substance" tonight I can say wholeheartedly, that there is indeed a gem inside this Hipster Graceland. Jia's is fantastic. The service was on point! Our server Jiana (that was her name, or at least the American name she told us) was top notch. Our waters and sodas always filled. And our food came out right away. This place is authentically Chinese, not like the pseudo-Korean bun spot that's so far from actual Korean flavors or the burger joint where the entire burger has one note and is cooked medium well, nothing like the disappointment of Farm and Ladle who's grits were no better than salty cafeteria grits, it's not like any of the plethora of other overly designed food joints; in fact, if I were to take a point off from Jia it would be for the decor/design. But what is amazing is that even in the design, Jia stays true to it's authenticity. We sat outside because the inside tables were all taken on a busy Friday night. We ordered the Mapu Tofu and some incredibly delicious Chicken dish with crumpled pieces of fried garlic that was out of this world. I don't even eat chicken (I am 90% vegetarian) and I asked my boyfriend if I could try it so I could include it in my Yelp review-- and it was so good, that we ended up sharing everything. It was skinless and lightly fried with a golden color; and it tasted like it had marinated in lemon juice for some time. So so good! The Mapu Tofu was also a show stopper. Very very spicy but the kind of spice that covers your entire mouth (in the best possible way); it had so much depth of flavor that my boyfriend (who eats as much tofu as I do meat) couldn't get enough of it! We were really full, but the dessert menu also showed great variety so we plan to come back for more! The clunky wooden tables outside are bizarre, I know they likely serve some sort of double function--like one of the looked like you could play some sort of pool game on it or something, but it was very bizarre and looked like it belonged in a Western/cowboy restaurant rather than a traditional Chinese spot. Regardless, we were too focused on the amazing food that it didn't deter us too much to be sitting in these bulky wooden things. The check was $30! Finally a place at PCM that prices things appropriately and offers high quality food. Some of the most successful businesses in the world are not necessarily the most expensive, but rather the ones that offer good, consistent quality and price their items with integrity and don't try to rip off their customer. These insure returning business and their food was so good, and affordable, that I wouldn't be surprised if we are eating there at least once a week. They also have lunch specials and a large selection of vegetarian dishes. The interior is quite romantic, while the outside patio is made for bigger groups.

On the way home from enjoying the Falcons practice we decided to stop and eat at Ponce City Market. Always challenging as there are so may options. As we were walking past this venue we noticed a patron's plate loaded with pieces of chicken and stopped to inquire if he liked it. He said yes it was good and we decided to stop and eat here! The food was served quickly and hot...spring rolls & wonton soup & fried pork belly. Then came the General Tso chicken and fried rice. After eating we still had quite a bit to take home. Would definitely return.

To start off, four of us were seated at a table for 4, but only one chair on each side of the table actually fit under the table, so the other two diners had to straddle the table leg. We ordered off the lunch menu, which consisted of the usual Americanized Chinese standards. The General Tso's chicken was greasy and fatty with bland seasonings. The chicken and broccoli was equally bland. The four of us ate less than half our meals. No one asked for a "to go" box. I've seen reviews on Yelp that suggest that some of the more "authentic" menu items are quite good, but I have trouble believing that in view of how truly bad our simple meals were.

We went here for dinner on a Friday evening in nice weather so we sat in their patio area. I'm really not a fan of what this area is like but it was a lot hotter inside the restaurant. It's a concrete patio with walls but you can see people from all of the other restaurants. It looks awful but it allowed us to see food from the restaurant next door, and we're going there too! Service was only ok but the food did come out pretty quickly. Our two appetizers were excellent and hot, both heat and spicing. Bang Bang Shrimp ($8.95) and Hot & Numbing Dry Beef ($8.95). We also shared the Bamboo Fish ($15.95) which was terrific! My big complaint is that the dishes are of a size that overwhelm a two-person table. The tables are very small and chairs are very, very uncomfortable. Also, if you don't drink beer, the alcoholic beverage menu is poor. I don't want a syrupy cocktail (I out grew Kool Aid a long time ago!) nor do I want a beer. But I will wind up with a beer because they fail in that area. So, the food is a five star. Everything else is quite a bit lower. Go if you like Szechuan food.

Ponce Market is a nice place but this restaurant is terrible. The food was bad but the worst part was the service. Stay away from this place!

My husband and I were in town for the day and skipped lunch for a great dinner. We were told to explore the market so we could shop AND eat. We settled at this place bc it had a huge menu and there was no wait. Well now we know why. It was AWFUL. I had a spicy chicken dish and it was dry and so salty it almost made me sick. The spring rolls were ok and the egg drop soup was ok, but our meals were so bland, very dry, and overly salty. Our tab was $55, and we didn't order any alcohol. Also, our waitress didn't speak good English at all. I had to repeat myself 3-4 times, every time. I am so disappointed. Looks like we will be stopping at a McDonalds on our way home.

GREAT! Took the 14-yr-olds (one who's very picky) and they loved it!!!! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! Thanks so much, and considering how crowded they were...was worth the 10-15 minute wait. Hoping that they DO NOT change their prices...reasonable for a family of 4!

You can tell this might be a different taste experience while perusing the menu. Located in the fabulous Ponce City Market, JIA's menu describes items with words like "numbing" and "spicy". Spicy is normal, but numbing? Don't be put off by this as the dishes are indeed numbing somewhat (not long lasting) but also delicious! It was strange to feel a numbing sensation in your mouth, but surprisingly pleasant along with the combinations/tastes. Order a few dishes, share, and the wine selections were very nice (glass only). You'll like this place.
Never had Cantonese food before
I'm surprised at the bad reviews this place has because I thought it was delicious. The atmosphere caught my eye with the giant dragon statue they have in the front and honestly, who doesn't love Chinese/Cantonese food? My boyfriend ordered some kind of soup with beef, rice noodles, bokchoy and spice. It was really good but way too spicy for both of us. I ordered the bang bang sweet and sour shrimp appetizer which was enough to fill me up for lunch (you can also get the dinner portion). When we got the bill they gave me a free rose which I thought was a nice little touch from the bar.
