Recommended by a local, this place was our favorite Texas meal experience of the week!! It is in a little food truck complex just off the side of the road. We tried one of each taco (3 options), the loaded potatoes, sliced brisket and dessert. Everything was incredible! The main meal was embodied everything positive I’ve heard of Texas cuisine. On a whim, we tried the dessert. Do not pass it up! The banana cream pie was one of the best I’ve ever had and the key lime pie with strawberry sauce was fantastic as well. This is a must try in Austin!

This barbecue trailer on FM 620 is a terrific find. The brisket, ribs and turkey are delicious and the sides, jicama slaw, scalloped potatoes, beans and corn are wonderful. Two kinds of sauces are both good. This rivals and surpasses the best barbecue in Texas.

The reuben sandwich is out of this world! I'm super picky on those, and the family secret sauce has the perfect amount of kick, and there is always plenty of sauerkraut! Everything I've tried has been great, and the fluffy key lime pie is the perfect way to end it. Relaxing picnic tables with ping pong to eat, or go sit in at the bar next door. The staff always has a smile and is friendly! You cannot go wrong with Jim's Smokehouse!

I had read many highly favorable reviews about Jim’s— and being a Texas bbq-aficionado, and with Jim’s being in Texas (Austin), I needed to check the joint out for myself. I was not only pleased, but the barbecue at Jim’s sits easily within my all-time top-three bbq spots. This place is truly legit! Note that my review is based on the food itself— meat and fixins— as the “setting” is bare-bones, at best. But while simple, there were plenty of clean, covered tables with full napkin dispensers and even center piece decorations.
