A great place with an eclectic menu. Enjoyed the enchiladas. The queso was great with the chips. The frozen margarita was awesome.

Great afternoon snack break at Joann’s. Dat on the lovely covered patio and enjoyed a retro margarita and a taco. Fresh ingredients prepared expertly. Really good!

Wonderful and fresh food! Loved the fish tacos and huevos rancheros! Margaritas were made with fresh juice and really good.

The vibe at Joann’s is really cool, and the restaurant is in the trendiest area in the city. Food was delicious, can highly recommend the Chicken Fried Steak and the Ice Tea! Staff are super friendly, and the seating on the terrace is really lovely - feels cool even when it’s boiling outside!

This place has a very authentic American diner vibe with touches of decorative nostalgic memorabilia throughout. The service was friendly and super efficient, the Americano coffee was delicious and our breakfast omelettes were perfectly cooked, tasted delicious and came with crispy hash browns just the way they should be. After we left, we noticed the diner was connected to what looked like a classic motel, worth considering if you’re looking for a unique accommodation option in SoCo.

This place is phenomenal. The vibe and atmosphere is super cool. The music is a very fine mix. The service is friendly and attentive. The food is amazing. We ordered 3 patty melts 4/5, which came with a side of possibly the best fries ever 5/5. The grilled red fish tacos 5/5 (the fish was perfect). We started the meal with hash brown nachos 5/5, amazing. For drinks a retro margarita on the rocks 5/5.

They could use better ac in the restaurant..it was hot in there but the food was delicious.Has a cool diner feel to it but the food was way better than diner level.

Not many great food options in SOCO so walked in because we were staying close by not expecting much. Sat at the bar and were taken great care of by our bartender. Margaritas and chips with soy chorizo queso were delicious. Vegetarian fajitas might be the best I’ve ever had, great spicing.

Joann's was very convenient since we were staying at the Austin Motel. Our server was very friendly and personable. The decor is a very cute "diner" feel. I ordered the french toast with fresh fruit and it was very, very good. My daughter had the steel cut oatmeal and she was happy with it as well. A little pricey.

This isn't so much a negative review as it is an average review, for what used to be an outstanding dining experience. Last Saturday my granddaughter and I went to Joann's for brunch. We were greeted cordially by the hostess with the English accent (I think), and seated quickly. After ordering our drinks, including a Retro Margarita on the rocks, which was delicious, we ordered the Hashbrown Nachos appetizer to share. While the ingredients and presentation were inviting, the dish was only lukewarm. As such, it really didn't live up to Joann's standards. Next came our Mexican Breakfast Plate entrees. These too seemed to have cooled down between preparation and presentation at our table. Also, the dishes just didn't have the same spice and herb forward flavors that we have experienced in the past. Hopefully, Joann's is just going through some kind of COVID related slump and will return to its previous high standards. It is such a cool place with such an Austin vibe (especially during the Summer when the nearby pool parties and live music are happening), it would be a real loss to the Austin restaurant scene if the changes are permanent.

The food was so fresh and tasty. The atmosphere in the restaurant and on the patio is incredible. Located in the Uber popular South Congress district of Austin. The Monday happy hour is a locals favorite and goes from 5pm to close with many specials. It is connected to the Famous Austin Motel...

Cool atmosphere with great food. Fifties style decor. Very laid back. We ate outside and was a little hot but inside was cool.

My group of 6 Austinites (all ladies) met up for Bob's Bingo at Joann's last night. Our experience was a great one! The service staff is exceptional at Joann's and the entertainment on Bingo night was even better. The food and drinks are rock solid too. It was an all around great night. Cheers Joann's for doing the BEST at what you do best. BTW friends Bingo Night is a hot ticket. If you are interested in going call Joann's for directions. Note there are only a few tables inside a Joann's that serve a large group making Bob's Bingo more suitable for parties of 2.

Joann's is located in the South Congress area which is in an area "keeping Austin Weird" The food is excellent, especially the tex-met with homemade tortillas. Our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. We were visiting with our daughter looking at Univ of Texas for college. The waitress not only gave great suggestion for food but also what to see around town. Joann's is not to be missed.

Lovely quirky little place I love its old school Diner charm! Popped into here and the bartender listened to my desire to have a spicy cocktail and made me one extra spicy which I always love. I think I had some taco thing or some spicy thing and it was perfectly lovely. My friend had a dessert a brownie I think and she loved it. Bartender was so amicable and smiley and it sits on a great location on South congress. A nice little pit stop for you when exploring the area!

We were only in Austin and went to Joann's twice. In fact, it would have been three times had we planned better. The food was that good. It was breakfast for us both times we got seated. Portions were just right. Wonderful menu and all the waitstaff were awesome. Matt gets a special shout out for being a great waiter AND entertainer. As good as he was, the food was the star of this show. From Vegans to Carnivores to those with a sweet tooth, everyone will find something to like here. For me, the protein bowl was heaven sent. For my wife the motel diner breakfast. Don't miss the tropical smoothie if its' on the menu.

No question about it, the food was delicious and a great price, the service just excellent. I do recommend this place, thank you!!!

Joann’s was recommended by a local and I am so happy I asked them for a local lunch spot. Amazing food: I had the seafood ceviche and two of the breakfast tacos. Everything was fresh, delicious and the various salsas enhanced the food. Fantastic customer service from the time I walked in the door. Jessica was my server and she offered some great ideas for local places to visit while I was in town. There is lots of outdoor and indoor seating and there are both outside and inside, too, that also offer seats to eat, too.

We walked past this landmark a couple of times each day while staying in SOCO. Great old motel diner offering a classic and modern menu. Finally stopped in on a Friday night for an early dinner of ceviche and tacos.....great fries. Tasty cocktails too.

Great atmosphere and friendly servers. I was here for lunch and had a very tasty club sandwich. It’s located in the heart of South Congress with lots of shops nearby.

Love so much we went 2x! Staff was on par! Cute retro vibe! Food consistent, plentiful & delicious! Prices fair & Keeps customers moving, Our party of two got right in both times! Indoor/Outdoor seating . Highly Recommend‼️

This was my first experience on TexMex cuisine in Austin. Kind of like it. Service was good as the staff took time to explain.

This restaurant is part of a chain that seems to own half of Austin, but the food is great and the service friendly.

Was told by a person in a store down the street that this was the best in the 'hood. Could not agree more. Food.was.great. server was very friendly and spot on the entire visit. Can't wait to go back. Best queso I had in Austin.

Had a lovely dinner here, dining outside. It had a cool vibe frequented by a younger crowd. Food was lovely and very tasty. High recommended

My friend ordered Jack & Coke, but they didn't carry Jack Daniel's. She switched to a Deep Eddy Ruby Red. It wasn't crowded, but it took about 30+ minutes to get our order, and then they brought my friend a vodka collins, not ruby red. She asked them to fix it, but that took another 20+ minutes. My Paloma was very tasty. Then the bill came, dang!

I’ve been hearing about this place and I’ve been wanting to try it, but I thought they were just had a patio only. Was pleasantly surprised with the inside seating. We had a great martini, and I loved my salad with redfish! Looking forward to going back was just what I needed after a long day traveling.

A local friend booked to take us here for brunch and we are SO glad she did! Our server was absolutely adorable, super friendly and patient with us visiting Brits! The food was all delicious, as was my Grapefruit Mimosa! Never had one before, but it’s my new favourite! The atmosphere is buzzy and the fact the place is constantly busy shows how good it is. Despite it being packed, service was attentive and at a great pace. And food just perfect. Was also pleased we could ask for crispy hashbrowns, and they came just so! They really have it down pat in there. If we are lucky enough to return to Austin, we will definitely return to Joann’s.

This spot is my favorite for breakfast in all of Austin. The kitschy retro vibe is fun, the service is good and the food is fantastic! Our party enjoyed Smoothie Bowls, the Rainbow Salad and Breakfast Tacos, but the Migas were the showstopper. So good, we went back a second time and ordered them again.

Stopped in for lunch. My boys had the french toast, my husband said his redfish tacos were one of the best tacos he’d ever had. My rainbow salad was full of flavor and so refreshing after a lot of fried foods the day before. Would definitely recommend and the retro style of the restaurant was super fun and unique.

Loved the retro look and the food - especially hash browns instead of home fries. But the service was average at best. Had to ask for coffee refills and condiments a few times.

As our team prepared for our presentation at TASSP/Fundamental 5 National Conference we found a place to eat first. We selected a place called Aba but we were under dressed and 1.5 hour wait so we walked do the street to Joann's. Be aware that parking is limited and the streets are full of young adults having fun. As you enter its a chic, trendy place with a old fashion dinner set up. They sat us against the wall and took our order. It's so trendy that our server was all over the place except with us. We gave her our order and it took a while to get our food. You can enjoy a patio location and if you need the restrooms they are located on the right as you enter the establishment. My colleague ordered pork chop and salad I believe while I ordered quesadillas with barbacoa. The portions are small and prices are high. My grandmother must be rolling in her grave knowing I paid $23 for quesadillas. I don't mind paying for a great tasting meal and this was not that. Trust me, I get it, I get its a trendy place but I think I'd be ok if I had good service and a bit more food. Did I mention $23 for 2 tortillas, some cheese and a scoop of meat. Non trendy peeps this is not the place to have good food. pssst we were still hungry after the meal.

Had the best experience at Joann’s Bar tonight! I was dining alone but there were a ton of groups filling the restaurant and patio. You could tell this is a locals spot. Celeste and Chase took amazing care of me and Chase made the best margarita I’ve ever had. Chase recommended an Enchilada as well as queso + chips. All were fantastic. The customer service here is unmatched and I’ll definitely be back for some yummy food, delicious drinks, and great guest service.
Best Fish Tacos Ever!
We visited Joann's Fine Foods on the recommendation of another friend who visited Austin. It was well worth the walk! The restaurant was busy so we sat at the bar. The bartender suggested we each order different taco dishes and share with each other - one of us got fish and the other chicken. Wow - it is all SO good! They had beer by the can and we enjoyed local Texas breweries. Service was friendly and prompt and it was easy to talk and hear your companion. We would go back to Joann's on any visit to Austin!
