We took a tour on the river walk and ran across Joe's. Nice atmosphere...fun and loud...service was good. It was dinner time on Thursday night but the place wasn't packed...downstairs about 3/4 full and they were not open upstairs. They had quite the variety of food. I had the coconut shrimp....there were around 10+ good sized shrimp, tasty and the sweet sauce was unique but very good. Two of the guys ordered the buckets with a variety of mussels, crab, lobster, etc. Drinks were good and the service was right there (thanks Giselle). The bill was obviously higher priced but represented good value. If you like seafood, its worth the walk.

River walk location! Excellent service! The atmosphere was welcoming and the waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu.

Our waiter stood at the end of the 3 tables we were sitting at and yelled at us to get our orders. It took 15 minutes to get eat our drinks. When we finally got our food...2 of us didn't get any food. He didn't say anything he just went downstairs. When he came back he said, "your food was given to another table, I'll see about getting your order." I said I hope this gets taken car of. " he told me it wasn't his fault and he would get the manager. I understand. Things happen but it's your job as waitstaff to make sure things are set right. He never apologized, he was rude, he didn't seem to care if we got food or not. The other lady st our table never got her food. The manager came up and said the food would be taken off the bill and he apologized for the waiter. He was very respectful. The crab dip appetizer had chunks of shells in it and was cold. The restrooms were dirty and out of toilet paper. A great night out with friends turned into a frustrating night out. I would not recommend this restaurant. There a plenty of other restaurants along the river walk.

went for dinner and had the crab cake sandwich truly enjoyed the crab cake. also tried the shrimp and fish, the shrimp was good. best place on the riverwalk for drinks cheap prices for a average drink. we were seated right away the spots next to the river are hot spots you need reservations if you want those. Went back a couple days later and met friends after the river parade. we sat and had drinks and dessert the apple crumb crisp had so much sugar couldn't enjoy it with the ice cream or coffee. we were able to enjoy our conversation and drinks while we talked and drank . not rushed to get out the waiter were good and we also had conversations with people at the table next to us. everyone is friendly there.

The prices were good for being on the Riverwalk. The staff were busy and friendly. We received plates for the appetizer after we had finished the appetizer. My grilled shrimp were rubbery. We received no drink refills. I requested a knife (the steamed broccoli was very large and very firm), but did not receive a knife. We are not complainers and we still left a 20% tip.

Great crabs as usual. Casual atmosphere and good meal. Perfect place for a nice seafood dinner. Laid back, no reservation

Joe O was aming he needs a raise i came here for .y birthday and he was so 9n top of things for a busy Saturday night. I appreciate him double checking due to a wheat allergy and making sure our drinks were refilled in a timely manner. If you go ask for Joe! I definitely will be back because of him and his wonderful service.

We were taking the tour and saw Joe's and decided to give it a try. We were lucky that we went when we did because they were able to get us in before the rush. We ordered a couple of buckets of crab and did a mussel boil, ok and maybe a few drinks too. The food was great, the crab was cooked perfectly and the mussels actually had muscles in them! The frozen pineapple margaritas were really tasty and the wait staff were all very friendly and attentive.

Love this place. Every time we travel to San Antonio it’s the best. No waiting for a table. They bought our food fast. Everything was delicious. The only problem was the waitress at first she was very handy and everything but then took more than 15 minutes to get out tab ready.

We were able to snatch one of the few tables adjacent to the outside where we could enjoy the Riverwalk atmosphere and it was very nice. The food was quite good with generous proportions at a price that was appropriate (not cheap) for the fare and location. The service was a bit lacking however.

The food was good for the price and the environment was festive. When we went there, some of the crew performed a dance number. You can have a good view if the river from the first or the second floor.

The food was exactly like every other Joe's that we've eaten at. The waitress that we had was very friendly and took the time to talk with us. We never felt rushed, the food came in a timely manner and the atmosphere was family friendly. It was nice to be able to sit on the river while having lunch.

Our lodging was just above here, and after driving all day, it seemed the most convenient. They were busy, so we took a seat at the bar. Hubby ordered a large draft, but what he got was not a 22 oz glass, even though that was on the tab. Bar maid replaced it with the correct size with no extra charge, but watch your ticket. Food was ok, but the queso on the hubby's plate was cold when it got to him, and impossible to dip. I guess we should have complained, but they were so busy, and we just wanted to finish up and go. Probably won't go back, but they have plenty of foot traffic there and won't miss us.

After a week of Mexican food, we were ready for some good seafood and Joe's Crab Shack delivered. I ordered a bucket of mussels, clams and shrimp which came with boiled potatoes and corn on the cob. My business associates ordered fish and mussels. Everyone was pleased with their choices. The shrimp was peel and eat. The bucket was big and I did not finish (which is rare for me when it comes to seafood). The atmosphere is beachy casual benches...it got very loud as the restaurant filled. There is a huge bucket on each table to toss your shells. As in most of the Riverwalk restaurants, there is plenty to drink! This place is great for families because it is so causal. The service was not great. I'm not sure if the waitress was training, new or just unaware. We asked what type of fish was in the dish, and she her reply was, "I don't know..its good though." We will return, the prices were reasonable and the food was good.

Colby at 212 College Street in San Antonio was a great waiter, he was kind, funny, and quick with appetizers, food, drinks and food. his service was great.

Great seafood and a fun loving environment in which one can enjoy the food and drink provided. Highly recommend this establishment.

Since we do not have a Joe's Crabshack in our town anymore (they took it away and gave us a Saltgrass - yuck!) We always try to eat at Joe's when on a vacation. This location does not disappoint. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was hopping.

Of all Joe's Crab Shack - San Antonio Riverwalk is the BOMB. managers Johnny and Lawrence and server Jennifer were awesome. Just came for couple of drinks at 2:30, but the services were so great that we stayed for dinner - 5 hrs, two appetizers, 8 drinks, and two meals later - still the best. My husband said best steak he's ever had outside of my cooking - yeah, it was that good. Oh did I say that was AFTER having lunch here. All great - BEST experience ever. Also made new friends. Jennifer was the best server anywhere.

Jenny was a great waitress and took care of our large group! Food was delicious and affordable with lunch special!!!!!!

Nick was a great waiter who was very helpful and knew the menu well. He didn’t have to write the order yet was very attentive. We would definitely come back again!

We went in search of fish tacos and ended up with tasty tacos plus a perfect mixed berry cobbler served warm with ice cream. Yummy!

They were not busy during our visit, but tried to pretend they were. We were taken to be seated at a table only to find it had not been cleaned yet. A young man nearly fell down trying to get it cleaned for us. We told him to slow down. I think the waiter thought we were talking to him. Everything slowed down to a crawl at that point. I have to admit that I am not a fan of sea food, but often go along with the crowd when I am with other people who enjoy it. I have eaten at Joes in several cities. The worst was a tie between here and the shack in Galveston Texas. Still, it was "okay." The food was okay. Just nothing special like one thinks of when one thinks of Joes. The service was okay, just seemed like they had never done this before and were working out the kinks. I will say this one more time, to be fair, I always select the blandest item I can find because I don't care for sea food that much. I don't want anything with a strong fishy taste, but the shrimp tasted like plastic, there was no flavor at all, and I was not the only one who said so. I told myself I was not going to be negative on this one, but looks like I can't help it. Let me just close and say I was "a little" disappointed considering it was, after all, Joes. I expected better.

So Joe's Crab Shack is a chain and you are going to get what you expect. We ate outside on the river for lunch and it was just a great experience. Our waitress was super nice and super prepared. We had a range of pots, salads, and fish and chips and each dish was on par with any other JCS. Service and atmosphere made the difference with this visit.

Service was a bit of a struggle but the food was good. And who can complain about the drinks. We come here every year.

The food was amazing and April was the world’s best server. She kept us laughing and made our visit extremely memorable. Only in town for a few days but we’ll be back before we leave for sure!

we were there for dinner, ordered a lobster and some shrimp, the food was very good, fresh, and good service, The chairs are not very comfortable

My son and I are both fans of Joes and our visit this week to the San Antonio riverwalk location did not disappoint. Decent seafood at fair prices and friendly and helpful staff. Our only complaint would be the limited beer selection.

We were here for dinner on a Saturday evening. To even get a seat was amazing! We were seated, greeted promptly, and our order was taken quickly. Service was fast, our waiter was courteous and professional. The food was good and exactly what we expected. Thanks Joe!

Creative drinks and fresh crab! My husband and i enjoyed lunch here. i had the Joe's salad (large) with a snow crab cluster. Yummy and messy. My husband enjoyed the redfish with lobster sauce. Wonderful cocktails too.

After making a reservation for 7:30 we showed up at the exact time they we’re expecting us, when we got there they said our table wasn’t ready yet and being the patient people we are we said no problem and we’ll wait after waiting for 25 minutes we went up to the receptionist and asked if we’ll be served soon she rudely answered she doesn’t know and that it is not her problem that our table is not available yet.

Food was good. Restaurant had a high clean rating. Portions were good and very affordable for the San Antonio river walk.

I'm from the West Coast so seafood is a big deal for me, and this place did not disappoint! I loved their patio and the menu is amazing. My boyfriend said they had the best crab cakes of his life there. Our servers name was Kitt. Sit in her section if you can, she has amazing customer service! I had ordered a drink that was supposed to come in a 'garbage can' and when she brought it out it didn't so she offered to let me keep the one it came in. I think she could sense my disappointment so she went into the back and found a garbage can for me that was a random shipment or something and threw in some crab claws as well! We even went back on our trip to eat here a 2nd time

We stopped in while on a walk on the Riverwalk. It was not very crowded and was fairly quiet. The food was good.

We've eaten at other Joe's Crab Shack locations and had great meals, but this meal was a complete disappointment. I ordered the Joe's Garden Salad with grilled shrimp. Here is exactly what I got: a giant bowl of lettuce, three cherry tomatoes, two small pieces of avocado, four or five tiny bacon crumbles and about a teaspoon of grated cheese. Hardly what I expected, needless to say. The shrimp was nice, but I ordered grilled and received blackened. Even so, it was the only decent thing about my salad. My husband said his fishand shrimp was merely passable - and he isn't all that picky. While we expect a lively atmosphere at any Joe's Crab Shack, this place was out of control. The music was unbearably loud to begin with, but every time a song came on that the staff liked, they cranked up the volume from loud to ear splitting. It will be a long time before we eat at another Joe's after this experience.

Great food and it came quicker than we expected! Our waitress April was awesome! She was sweet to the kids and very helpful.

Didn't realise this was a chain! Situated along Riverwalk I was expecting some fresh crab, hence the name. Being solo and on a business budget I didn't want a bucket so opted for a medley. It was nice but everything on my plate was fried. Service was reasonable and fairly quick. Would try somewhere else next time

I’m not usually a fan of chain restaurants, but we were ready for a lunch break after touring all morning. We were greeted warmly by the server, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The portions were huge, actually way too big, we could have shared one entree. The crab sandwich was very good, and the breaded shrimp were good but maybe slightly too seasoned or salty. Both came with large portions of very good French fries. Pleasantly surprised!

My wife is a real seafood fan and loved the king crab that she ate at Joe's Crab Shack. I ordered blackened Mahi not knowing exactly what "blackened" means and was a little disappointed, not in the fish which was very tasty, but in the blackened process. The prices are a little high, but the food is good and filling.

Nice to be in a different layout of this chain. The Crab Dip is to die for, but the East Crab meal gives great selection of crab, oysters, shrimp and more. Great manager, picked up the load from overwhelmed waitress. Priced reasonable.

Ate at the riverwalk joes crabshack on our recent visit to riverwalk in san antonio, texas. The riverside table waa so enjoyable to eat at right beside tge sidewalk. We had the fush and shrimp plate which was excellent. Then we has the campfire smores for desert. Can you say outstanding. Chocolate and more chocolate. This was so good. You must try it if you visit this place. If you are at the riverwalk and want something good to eat go here. Our server was good also. Go here for good food and service as well as a pleasant atmosphere beside the riverwalk.

My husband and I both ate the peel and eat shrimp and red fish with lobster.. Whhhhhhhy did we do that. By the time we walked back to our hotel... We were both racing for the restroom. This ruined our entire first night here. Hopefully our stomachs will get it together soon.

Great location! Fabulous service by David! Food was fantastic. O-H… ;) I would recommend this for your family meal on the beautiful river walk!

Right on the river walk for easy access. Great staff of friendly people who made our time at the restaurant great. Food is awesome and loved the atmosphere. Recommend the bucket of crabs and bucket of crawfish. Expensive but worth it.

One of the highlights of our trip was the crawfish at Joe’s! Our first meal on the Riverwalk, and it was hard to beat. The crawfish was perfectly done, hot and fresh and spicy. Went perfectly with a cold martini and margaritas. It’s location on the Riverwalk is one of the best for atmosphere and views. Well worth a visit!

The servers did not appear to be doing their best, the service was very poor. The food was good. Worst of all, the gratuity tip amount was added to my credit card without my knowledge or consent, VERY disappointing and sneaky/dishonest.

Stopped in for a bite on the Riverwalk and was amazed at the portions and quality. The seafood sampler was more than enough food for two people. Staff was friendly and attentive.

My daughter and I happened to be in the riverwalk area and popped into Joe's for lunch. It took at least 5 minutes at the door waiting to be noticed by staff. They were chatting and having fun. That's my only gripe. After we were seated everything was fine. We got a table right by the river, which was great. The waiter was odd looking but did a great job. We both had fish and chips, which were very good considering the place specializes in shell fish. Overall, very good. I will come back.

I came here for my sons girlfriend bday we were supper excited especially for bday song and yummy food well we get thier yes beautiful view but nightmare started as soon as wAiter got thier it looked lije he did not have any training did not know what he was doing drinks came out 15 min later my mixed drink looked lije soup my appetizer was so nasty burnt calamari chips and dry hard crab chesse dip second waitress came droped one of 3 plates on table very rude the point was lets eat together we did come on vacation by time other food got thier my plate was iced cold i retured it and did not eat it when I finally got to mAnager he was faustrated yes he took items i returned off but hey he should of gave me a discount an apology i do not recommend this place at all coconut shrimp only good thing here and great view

We've always loved to eat at Joe's Crab Shack but were really, really disappointed this time. We ordered a bucket with dungeness crab and a whole lobster. Both were sooooo over cooked that it was hard to find the meat. The meat in the claws had shrunk to almost nothing. Don't eat here.

The food was great and the staff was excellent. Ordered the steam pot and it fed two people with some to spare. The drinks are good, my wife love the cocktail Shark Bite. I recommend it to anyone.

The food was good as you would expect from Joe's. Prices fair. This particular restaurant was small and the tables were close. The other thing we noticed was the constant 'fishy' smell. Not a smell of cooked fished but like being on a boat on a lake. Our server seemed confused and we assumed he was new. Basically, the food was good but the environment of the restaurant was not the same level we've had at other Joe's Crab Shacks.

we had a very nice fish and crab lunch , it was a very relaxed casual atmosphere and the server was so much fun and very friendly, the food was very good

We were looking for a table right on the River Walk, but not on the sidewalk, so we spotted one here. We enjoyed happy hour drinks, boiled shrimp, and Great Balls of Fire off the appetizer menu. Everything tasted good, but the shrimp was overcooked. Great location, though!

My family and I went on a busy night…. Cinco De Mayo. We were seated right away and we had a great waitress who attended to our needs and the food was outstanding! Lots to choose from in the alcohol drink menu!

My husband and I settled on Joe's Crab Shack when we wanted something simple. After having horrible customer service the night before at a different restaurant we were ready for the same here. Our Server was very busy, however he stopped by our table and said he would be right with us which is all we ask for. Alonso did a great job he took our order which he did not write down and got everything correct. He checked on us numerous times and made sure everything was good. Food and service were outstanding!

Super atmosphere at the Crab shack we enjoyed salmon and crispy calamari. We had to wait a while for a table so we had a drink at the bar. The wait was not too long and we received an SMS. Reasonable prices. And great service. A good selection of food.

Had a great Experience with the food and the service!! Ashley was a great server, funny and great info giver!!! Did was fresh and hot

If friendly service was what a restaurant is all about, we'd give Joe's 5 stars. Instead of writing a long review, simply put, this is some of the worst food we've ever had. 3 people, 0 for 3. Disgusting. Inedible. But then, you need to judge for yourself. After all, there are a bunch of 5 star reviews.

We wanted to eat sea food in a casual relaxed environment. This was a smart choice. Fair value between price and quality. The crab buckets were very good. Service was excellent.

It was a Thursday night and the surrounding restaurants were packed. I was concerned because the crab shack was almost empty. I ordered a seafood sampler plate. The fish was bland and the fries were skimpy. My food also arrived cold. I ordered a 'Category 5 Hurricane' and the drink was very good. Also the waiter was friendly and attentive. I would not eat here again. The food was overpriced and lacked quality.

Very fun atmosphere and the service was top notch. They gave me crabs! Our server David was pretty cool and suggested great food.

True to their name, the crab is the item to select... it's very tasty. The fish and chips, not so much... it's pretty bland.

We took our parents to this place, their first taste of crab, they enjoyed every bit of it. The service was quick and the food excellent. For us this is our second time, the first was in Bossier City, and for both it was an amazing culinary experience :)

The food was great, and the staff very entertaining. We watched them do line dancing to a particular song, and sing along. Very friendly. Atmosphere was great, the food was excellent, and the service great also.

They were short staffed. We sat right by the door and it was pretty hot because the front stays open. The food was good and the staff was friendly, but it was too hot to sit by the door when it was 100 degrees outside.

Excellent dinner spot on the San Antonio River Walk. Great food and great service and good spot to experience "Category 5 Hurricane".

We ate lunch on a busy St. Paddy's day. Instead of waiting 45 minutes for a table, we ate at the bar. Our meals came quickly and were delicious.

I dont mind visiting chains when i am away. It makes the decision making where to go alot easier. This was the case when we chose Joe's. I tried the stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon. It was not my favourite. I think the baccon shrimp combo should be avoided (I love bacon). The shrimp gumbo was very good. Overall dont expect the best seafood meal you ever had but dont think you shouldn't eat here either. Its Joe's

Whitney was an excellent server, very personable and attentive! Our food was excellent and we didn’t wait long for service!

Joe's serves you very good, but typical fare that you expect from a national chain seafood place. Nothing extraordinary, bu consistently very good. Alonzo our waiter was very good, took great care of us. Had a Sample Platter, Crab stuffing stuffed mushrooms, and 1 lb cold peel and eat shrimp. All three very good, especially the stuffed mushrooms. $36 for the three dishes before tip and tax. Typical of Riverwalk places, very crowded, very loud.

Many nice restaurants on the River Walk with great seating. Joes Crab Shack is not one of them. But, if you want some great sea food then this is a good place to go. Wait staff was always up at the front talking, never did get a refil

Good seafood at good prices. We enjoyed the classic sampler. It had calamari, heated crab dip, crab & cream cheese balls with jalapeno. All were very tasty. We then shared the shrimp skewer meal. The skewers each had 6 shrimp served on a bed of rice with 2 sides. We chose deep fried ocra and broccoli. Topped this off with 22 oz of Sam Adams Lager. Good prices for being on the Riverwalk.

Nick was an awesome server, and the food was good. He was very accommodating and helpful. He checked on us several times through out our dining experience.

Mari was amazing. Very polite and friendly. Was there for a quick appetizer and drink. Server was lovely would come again.

Jenny is the best waitress in San Antonio! My family felt very welcome and the food was great! Try the new cajun macaroni!

The Service was good, the food was good, the ambiance was good. I would request a table by the open air area that has a view to the Riverwalk and you can people watch and eat ant the same time. Just watch out for the sudden storms the rain hits hard and fast. I know, I was soaked!.

We visited Joe's Crab Shack during a recent visit to San Antonio. This was my first visit to Joe's however, my husband has visited Joe's many times in different states. Although I haven't eaten at Joe's, I have eaten at many seafood restaurants. By comparison, the food at Joe's was not fresh, there was very little flavor and the food was relatively cold. All of this in addition to having to fight a significant amount of flies, very slow service and the unreasonably high price for what you are getting. The majority of the food I ordered was left there and I ended up eating at another location close by. Very disappointing as I had heard such great reviews of Joe's Crab Shack from other states. I definitely would not visit this restaurant again and therefore, I would not recommend to others.

The atmosphere here was amazing. The food tasted great, with excellent service from our guy Nick! Highly recommended!

We came here to celebrate my son's 15th birthday, so we went all out. The food was fantastic from the crab, potatoes and corn. He had the Queen crab and I had the steampot. Chocolate cake to go! John was our server and he was so friendly and engaging. He took excellent care of us and I highly recommend him and the restaurant. It is 1 of our favorite places and they have never let us down.

Got the crab bowl. Not enough crab and very little meat. Corn on the Cobb was awesome. Waiter was busy and not very good. Bubba gump is better.

15 minute wait we sat outside and we get a text they were ready We go to the door the door is locked A staff coming to work said there is a wait. I told her we got a text. She beat on the door they ran up and opened the door. We were taken to a table two staff stood and talked to each other then hostess without speaking to us turned around and walked to another table. We sat down was told waitress would be soon. 10 minutes passed nothing. We told the hostess and she asked who I waitress is !?!? She never came. So we waited another 10 minutes and still no waitress. We walked out. As we were leaving the hostess asked another employ who our waitress and she stated Lauren

Wonderful value and the chef prepared food for my special diet. Beautiful breeze and seating is open to the street but indoors.

We were seated near the entrance where we could watch our server along with several others spend time talking with one another while customers like ourselves waited to be helped. I had to ask four time for water before the first glass of water was served. There was an all you can eat shrimp special which our server failed to tell us about, but we overheard it from another table who did get the menu ad. I made the mistake of ordering this selection. It was a mistake because once the meal was served, 45 minutes following our original order, that was the last time we could get the attention of our server except when he brought the bill, never even returning to ask how our food was, if we wanted dessert, etc. All four of the shrimp selections tasted the same. All was deep fried, including the coconut shrimp. Unfortunately we could not get the attention of our server to bring any tarter or cocktail sauce. Even peeling off the breading did not help eliminate the taste of the deep fry, bland taste. For three days following this unfortunate meal I had diarrhea and an upset stomach.

They had fun drinks and gave us bibs with funny sayings. Food was excellent. I had the crab legs and big shrimp. Ended up covered in juices but it was worth it

Please see my other review of the Joe's Crab Shack on base. Needless to say we were starving by then only to realize we had left our email at the other Joe's Crab Shack that refused to honor the promised free appetizer. Amazingly even the manager was not informed of the free appetizer ( or dessert) deal. Nevertheless they gave it to us so we had queen and snow Crab and both were delicious. The calamari was a bit over fried. My hurricane was excellent and came in a huge glass. Usually the river walk restaurants have awful waiters/service but this girl was great and understanding of our frustrations with the Joe's on basse. I hope we get that waitress next time I visit I appreciate an attentive server.

4 of us hit the bar on our tour of the river walk. Great atmosphere, with cold drinks and a great bartender.

We have been looking forward to visiting a Joe's for years but never had one near us in our travels. This restaurant is located on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, so for those not familiar with the area, I want to let you know about accessibility first. You will need to locate a paid parking garage or lot , walk to the Riverwalk and descend the stairs. I did see one small elevator but am not sure if it is ADA or public accessible. The Riverwalk is narrow, crowded, and there are no guard rails in spots separating you from the "river". The area is unique and beautiful. The restaurant is two stories and we were seated on the 2nd floor with a nice view. Our server Kyle, was fantastic. He was prompt, personable, and attentive. The food was served hot and timely. I had the King Crab pot and stuffed mushrooms. It was all very good and the portion was good sized for the price. My husband had the steamer pot and also said it was very good. We will go back again!

Delicious drinks and delicious food. The service was prompt and cheerful. We had so much food that my wife couldn't finish the last shrimp. If you are true New Englander don't get the clam chowder though. It looked good but it left the clams to the imagination. Everything else was great.

Hard to go wrong with a bib on, a cold beer handy and your hands covered in melted butter with fresh crab, shrimps, clams and more... soooooooo good but you pay for what you get!

I eat at a Joes every town I pass that has one. This one had great food like they all do and I had a great experience, my food and drinks were great. My husband however, didn’t. He goes for me, since I’m such a fan. One of the bus boys dropped his tray and got pissed off and kicked a bunch of glasses and hit him with one. He didn’t say a word. The bus boy didn’t offer an apology or anything, management passed by without a word. We left soon after and the glass was still there under our table.

My wife had the peel and eat shrimp on ice. It was really good. I had the chicken strips with French fries instead of sweet potato fries. It was also very good but could have been warmer. We had an excellent waitress. We looked out the window at the Riverwalk. Great!

The only other steam pot I've had was out in Seattle and you might expect that out there it would be good. The Joe's Crab Shack in SA was on par with the one in WA! We had the Joe's Sam Adams traditional since we weren't sure about the spicier ones Tender snow crab and Dungeness crab with shrimp, corn, sausage and potatoes. We shared one and had plenty to eat. The margaritas were pretty good too!

I had an excellent experience at Joe Crab and it’s mostly because of my server April. She was quick and attentive, gave me her favorite meals and drinks recommendations. I ordered the Snow crab boil plus shrimp. The dish was big and testy. Thank you April for the excellent service and recommendations.

The food was very good and portion sizes were large. The waiter was friendly and attentive, although food was a tad slow being serviced. Not at all the waiter’s fault and not quite slow enough to be troublesome just enough to notice. Even then, we would differently eat here again. Most of the menu is fried which was what DH was looking for but with large portions the calorie count can get quite high. I ordered one of the few dishes that wasn’t fried, Tostadas de Ceviche, it was excellent and I highly recommend it. Very elegantly served in a cocktail glass. Made lunch feel a bit special.

I decided to stop here for dinner on my first night in San Antonio because I was looking for crab, and I figured it would be the right stop. I got exactly what you'd expect from a chain crab joint: an adequate meal with adequate service at an inflated price. I sat at the bar (as I often do when dining alone), and the bartender was often more interested in kibitzing with the waitstaff than actually serving. Speaking of the waitstaff, I realize that you're working your butt off for Joey Bagadonutz and his merry band of minion children, but that doesn't mean that other diners want to hear you complain about your tables and your tips every time you walk up to the service bar to get a drink for someone. Overall, you can find better seafood at a better price in this city at places that will accommodate both families and business travelers alike without complaint. Not worth the time or the money on the Riverwalk. Keep moving.

We were here early so it wasn't very crowded. The service was good. Our server kept checking back with us to make sure everything was okay. The food was good.

Unpretentious and friendly place to have whole buckets of boiled/steamed seafood and also the usual deep-fried sorts of shellfish. Main buckets come with potatoes and corn on the cob.

Went to visit Joe's Crab shack whilst we were in San Antonio. Food was reasonable, service good but the atmosphere was so so. I felt that the food ad atmosphere wasn't as good as the Phoenix one.

Typical Joe's Crab Shack located on the Riverwalk. Great bar top tables on the patio with people watching. Wait staff still breaks to dance at least once an hour. Food is always exceptional and tasty. Kids will love it, adults will like the cold beverage selections. A lot of variety on the menu, even if you do not like seafood. Pasta, burgers, chicken and of course lots of fish, crabs and lobster!

it's joes. good place to grab a beer and some shrimp. got half pound of shrimp and a couple beers. perfect about. nice staff. i'd stop in again.

We made a reservation which was a good idea for a Sat night. Only waited for a couple of minutes. We were greeted by our waitress in an okay amount of time for a busy night. Not great but okay. We asked for just a few more minutes to decide on what to have. I think she forgot about us. We were about to go look for her when she finally showed back up. Again food came out in an okay amount of time for a busy night. Not great, but here is where it started to go down hill. At the table we had lobster, stuffed shrimp, crabs, steam rice with grilled shrimp corn on the cob ,stuffed crab shells and asparagus. We were given forks and nothing else. When we flagged down the waitress she said the knives were all dirty and she would bring us some when they were clean. She did come back later with the crab crackers we asked for but still no knives. Had to flag her down again to bing the forgotten butter. By the time we got knives we had finished two of the three dinners with our fingers. The shrimp and lobster were over cooked and tough with no flavor. The asparagus was too salty to eat. The bed of rice was stuck in one hard cold clump. The stuffed crab shell was okay and only required a fork. Our meal for three with no alcohol or special was $174.00 plus a 20% tip. I have eaten at Jos many times and this was the worst! I had found them in the past to be very consistent with good food. This was very disappointing to say the least. Will not go back to this location.

Stumbled upon this casual eatery while out walking the Riverwalk & couldn’t resist a bucket of sweet snow crab legs. Excellent value for money, delicious food & good service. I loved that the chef came out to chat & see if people were enjoying themselves. Enjoyed the margaritas & would recommend this place.

Nick was an excellent bartender and waiter. Dude memorized all orders. Plus the drink orders. Definitely a good dude. I recommend using him

Had the mushrooms stuffed with crab and cheese. Wife had the crab sandwich. Lot of sandwich for the money and the best sweet tea I've ever had.

So so good! I highly recommend if you like, love, or enjoy seafood. I got their queen crab and it was AMAZING! The service is absolutely helpful and nice and reliable on drink refills and their service. Best seafood I’ve had since Alaska, Mari was our waiter and she was SO SWEET! Again if you choose to come here, you won’t regret it a bit!

Order 2 beers & appetizers. Waitress unfamiliar with specials. The Shiner was nasty so ordered a Ziegen Bock which was nasty also. Manager said they cleaned the lines today so there was probably still chemicals in the line! Great! Waited 10+ minutes for a fork...got no plate to put appetizer on. Planned to eat dinner but decided to go elsewhere. Won't go back!

Shrimp was outstanding. However fries were not crisp, coleslaw had been sitting around.. brown & not fresh. Service: had to flag someone down for more water.

This service is still friendly, but my stomach is still reeling from the food I ate there at lunch. I was told by the waiter that the redfish and lobster platter would have 'lots' of lobster and that the redfish didn't have a fishy taste, but it did, and there were only a few teensy weensy pieces of lobster at best. The creamy sauce does not sit well, and I would not recommend this to anyone. It was not cheap, and I will not return, because of deceptiveness in what I was given.

We were leaving the next day and just wanted a light dinner in our unit. I ordered 2 cups of lobster bisque and the Classic Sampler appetizer plate. I sent my husband to pick it up. We got only one soup and the crab dip was missing. We were too tired and needed to pack so didn't go back but it's sad that you can't trust Joe's to be honest.

Not sure if we have right location, but we ate at the Riverwalk Joe’s and were very happy with our snow crab & peel and eat shrimp! Views on the Riverwalk set this location apart from others in this reliable chain.

Arrived in Bossier City to find out that was the worst ever!! The menu was very limited and super expensive. Very limited on crab plates options. No red potatoes only cold mash potatoes and a steak that looked good but was as tough as leather. Appetizer was more fired grease crumbs, with carrots and peppers with very little meat. Not sure I will go to another Joes!! Very expensive as well.

We had a fantastic time. We went into watch the Texans playoff game, sat at the bar and stayed for hours. The drinks were great, food (calamari, crabs and potatoes) were perfect. Highly recommend coming here. Atmosphere was so much fun. We were all getting into cheering the team through the game. Best bartenders too!

This 3 story restaurant on River Walk offers everything that Joe's Crab Shack offers plus views. We were lucky to get a table on the River Walk. The Mason Jar margaritas were tasty and the Coconut Shrimp was excellent. We asked for more dipping sauce and were quickly provided with more. We didn't have room for the fries and hush puppies that came with dinner and we declined on the desert though the berry cobbler sounded great.

Was charged 101.oo on a ticket that was supposed to be 43 .00 good thing I caught it. And class were served un opened and had to be sent back and news still had unopened one in it

After a bit of walking the river walk, we decided on Joe’s Crab Shack. I preferred the coconut shrimp with Caesar salad and he ordered fisherman’s plate with grilled tilapia with steamed broccoli. Caesar salads are usually made with romaine but as you can see in the picture, they used iceberg lettuce instead but with a very thin layer of romaine at the top. They got his order wrong and brought out a platter but he returned it and got his original order. The shrimp was good but the dip was not sweet. Everything was very, very salty. I was a bit disappointed this time since they usually have good food. The service was good. Waiter was attentive and apologetic with giving us the wrong order.

Joe’s is right alongside the San Antonio river and just a great location. Our food and service were very good. We would definitely eat here again.

We love crabs and Joe’s didn’t disappoint! The crabs were delicious and the service was great!! We will be back!

The location is great, but everything else as major sub par. There is No trainin gof its staff. The young witer did not know what he was doing, but it was not hs fault as he had no training The wine lsit did nto come with any price for glass por or bottle price. he had to keep asking around and came up with a guess. He suggested clam chowder soup, which was totally unedible. First time I ahd to spit our soupd from my mouth back to the tray. It's like cooked with dead clams from long ago. My entree which cost $38 came out totally not lloking like the picture on teh menu. This is my 2nd time to Joe's Crab Shack and will be my last. They need to give good info on the menu (wine menu) that guests can make decisions on, and have much better trining for staff.

We love Joe's Crab Shack and have been to several different locations in different states, so we thought we would give this one a try. Unfortunately it wasn't all that great. My husband ordered the Shrimp Sampler plate that came with 3 different types of shrimp and all 3 varieties came out super rubbery. My daughter had the crispy shrimp and it was just ok and I had the appetizer that included the calamari, great balls of fire and crab and shrimp dip. The dip and balls were very good but the calamari was also so rubbery. I will say the location is great along the river and our waitress was super friendly and attentive!!

Tourist trap with poor food... How can you need up a lobster and crab that bad? Mind boggling... Not worth the money or time...

Went here for my husband's 70th birthday for dinner. Server made his day. Even gave him a beer Stein. My husband, I had shrimp combo mmmmm good.

Had dinner here was good. Wait was an hour to get a table. Short staffed nobody wants to work. Right on the Riverwalk. Pricey but all restaurants on Riverwalk are.

We eat here each year we come down for the Ford Christmas Parade. This is our fourth year and worst one by far. The parade package was three courses. My classic steam pot was good and I had no complaints with it. I had a cup of the clam chowder, it was good but no better than out of a can. I had the key lime pie with it also. Just not good at all. My wife had the gumbo and it was good but not great. Her East Coast platter was good if we were eating at Long John Silvers. The fried fish looked like theirs and tasted like it. The fried clam strips had very little meat in them. The apple crumb cake was not warm and was soggy. Here is where the problem came in, we sent one item back and complained about the desert. Each had perhaps two bites out of them and given back to the waitress. She was very friendly but seldom checked on us and when we sent something back she just apologized and never sent over the manager. When the bill came it was of course full price. We paid for a package and I guess that was all we were getting!! Even more sad that this parade and restaurant represent a huge occasion for us. Not a happy memorable night.

We love Joe's Crab Shack in GA, but this one in Texas was disappointing. The seafood did not taste fresh or well seasoned. Very disappointing after spending over $200, and expecting the quality of food we are used to getting. The waiter was nice, Ingrid, and we appreciated his service. The view of Riverwalk from the balcony was beautiful.

This is one of the best Joe's. We had a variety of items and everything was great. We had 3 children and they ate everything on their plates. Will definitely go back.

We were among 50 other people for a prepaid pre chosen entree dinner. I chose grilled shrimp. When it arrived at my table I noticed the shrimp were grilled but only warm to the taste. I was unhappy. The server, trying to be nice, asked if I wanted to send it back. I felt it would only be microwaved to warm or thrown on the grill for a short time, drying them out. So I politely refused. Very disappointed. Would not go back to this restaurant.

Server Joe was amazing! Always making sure we were taken care of and at the top of his game! Above and beyond for us! Recommend joes crab shack first time and not disappointed at all!

Always wanted to try to this place. Our server was awesome and the food was great too. The crowd at the river walk was busy and lively. We had a great dinner and enjoyed our experience. Will definitely go back. The manager even stopped by to say hi and to see how we were doing and to make sure we’re enjoying everything. My fb has the shrimp trio and I had the lobster tails. All good.

The help was exceptional and the food was very good. Everyone was fun to talk to. Get the shark bite...you will love it.

We've eaten at many Joe's Crab Shacks around the US. It's one of our favorite places to eat, but this Joe's was extremely disappointing. The food wasn't very good or well seasoned. The crab legs were minuscule, mostly tasteless, and mostly hollow inside. Joe's isn't cheap so it was very disappointing to get such a low quality meal. Service wasn't particularly good either. Our waiter mostly ignored us.

Food was delicious and came out fast: my server Nick (aka David) was friendly and attentive the whole visit. Would come back!

They have excellent seafood selections and nice portions at reasonable prices. I've been here several times and am never disappointed. Friendly and efficient wait staff for the most part

My wife and I went to Joe's on the famous Riverwalk. First I was disappointed to find out that a paella dish that I have had before and was shown in their on-line menu was no longer available. My dish was okay. My wife, however, was totally disgusted with her dish. She had ordered the butterflied fried shrimp. It was terrible. It was like the shrimp had been ground up and shaped like a whole shrimp. It was very mushy. The waitress did ask my wife if she wanted to order something else and she declined because we were on a tight schedule.

Closes at 9pm…not really because at 8:30pm we were ignored by the staff. Only 2 of us and just wanted a quick drink and appetizer

Beautiful setting on the waters edge. Friendly staff and good service. The food is tasty. My one critic is that they over batter the shrimp. Had an amazing Banana Cocktail.Worth a visit.

We had dinner at Joe's Crab Shack on the Riverwalk. The atmosphere was great. The food (for the most part) and service were good. However, there may have been an issue with what was the only thing my husband and I ate the same (crab-stuffed mushrooms), because we both got sick within 6-10 hours of eating at the restaurant. Quite unusual for both of us to be sick at the same time. Luckily, the sickness did not last more than a few hours and we were able to continue on our trip. This little episode wouldn't stop me from eating at Joe's again, however.

This was exceptionally good. The deep fried prawns and the prawns in pasta were outstanding. Great spot right on the river also has an upstairs when it's busy.

We have always enjoyed Joes but they are all closed near where we live. So, it was nice to find this. We got carryout but the meal was just as great as we hoped. My wife was especially happy with the garden salad. I really enjoyed the crab legs with old bay seasoning. This is not a cheap meal but it is a good one.

Haven’t to a Joe’s Crab Shack in a long time. Honestly the food is what you would expect, but the service is what really stood out. The manager especially stood out, I forgot my CC there. When I went back, he had it locked in the register, and apologized to me, even though it was clearly my mistake.

I wanted crab. Joe's is a good standard to pick up a decent crab leg meal so we stopped. The good was good, the service good, the price was high, but what do you expect for crab legs? My wife enjoyed her crab cakes. It was nice with a view of the River Walk.

It was just Ok. The food was hot but over cooked. Our waiter was very distracted by something. Drinks came after about 20 minutes. Asked for some ketchup to try to help some of the food, never got it. However the bill was brought promptly.

Service was amazing, we had Joe as our server and Lawrence helped make our experience memorable and enjoyable for everyone with the fun dancing with the crew.

When I read other reviews online I kept seeing bad service but delicious food. So I thought well I could put up with bad service if the food is good. Service was not bad at all! Our waitress was very nice, funny and accommodating when we asked to switch tables. You have a clear view of the river walk no matter where you sit in the restaurant. And yes the food was Delicious! We got all 3 kinds of crab and sampler platter and a garden salad. If you like seafood you should go here for sure! And my drink was very yummy plus I got to keep the little shark shot accessory it came with. It does get messy if you have ever eaten crab or any seafood you need to crack into you know it does but every table comes with an entire roll of paper towels. The only downside was the birds and flies that come in thru the window. I don't blame the restaurant tho this is the downside of every restaurant along the river walk. They come thru the view. Other than that yes! Eat here! Drink here!

Let me say, we live on the Gulf coast of FL and have many fine local seafood restaurants. We had toured San Antionao all day, we were hot, tired and hungry. Decided not to venture far from hotel on riverwalk, and had tickets to Majestic concert in two hours. We were able to get seat easily and settle in over cocktails to study the extensive menu. We both opted for shrimp entrees after sharing crab stuffed mushrooms. Our platters of shrimp were hugh, much more than we could ever eat, really shold of shared one dinner. the coconut shrimp was our personal favorite, with excellant dippin sauce. Enjoyed very much and would return.

When my wife and I had dinner here last week we both were disappointed with our meal. My coconut shrimp looked and tasted like they'd just ben taken out of a box in the freezer and dropped in the fryer. Definitely not home made. My wife's shrimp skewers were rubbery and over cooked. I can say with certainty that we'll never stop by this Joe's again.

Great food, atmosphere and service. Clean and enjoyable setting. Scenery and environment is peaceful with nature as the best backdrop.

We wanted fried seafood so we decided to stop at Joes. If I went back and got only the regular fried shrimp and fries, I would be fine. I give that part of the meal a 4 star. We did not like the coconut shrimp though. It was dry and over cooked. The calamari was so so, but you do get a big amount of it and we ate almost all of it. The waiter was great though. He was friendly and kept our drinks filled.

My wife and I along with another couple ate here on a Sunday night and the food was excellent. Our waitress, Klowe, was an excellent waitress. We were seated right away. way too much food though.

April was fantastic, very attentive and sweet! thank you for an amazing experience we will definitely be back very very very soon

Sat on the outside edge in order to see the river activity. I had crab cakes and my husband had redfish with lobster sauce. Both were excellent. Everything but the dirty rice was good. Service with a smile. We’d go again to any location

First time visiting and the seafood was very good and delicious the taste was perfect with very good price

Wife and I waited over 10 minutes for service. Food was very good. It would have been better if we had gotten what we ordered. We only got part of our meal.

We were visiting the riverwalk with family on 8/18/20 and decided to give it a try. It wasn't busy. To start my granddaughter ordered a Dr pepper, easy. It was flat. When the waitress brought another glass it was only carbonation. My husband ordered the fish, fries and shrimp. Fries tasted old so did the shrimp,, as if they sat under a heat light too long waiting to be ordered. Granddaughters shrimp Alfredo tasted terrible. The chicken tenders was salty on the other plate. Horrible experience all around. Save your money and go some where else

Hostess told us it was a 30 minute wait. Waited 40 minutes. Went to check on our reservation and we were informed the hostess never wrote my name down, even though I gave her my phone number? When I told her that this was not correct and an error on their part, we were berated and talked down to, in addition to being told we would have to get back on the list. Ruined my daughter's birthday. Legitimately the worst customer service I've had in ages.

Food was terrible! Do NOT eat here! We had appetizers and entrees and left most of it. We told the manager, who said “I’m sorry” and took $15 off the bill. I travel and eat out a lot and this was the worst restaurant experience I have had in a long time, perhaps ever.

They were very busy, but our wait was short for a party of seven. Everyone beverage orders were taken and delivered quickly. Food menu is large so making the choice was not easily accomplished. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we will probably return again before we leave town. Server was fast, friendly, and well versed on the menu and meals.

Not the cheapest restaurant in town but the food was all great. Stay was all very friendly. Signed up for their Landry’s point program which was a great deal.

First time eating at a Joe’s Crab Shack and rift on the riverwalk. Excellent service and the food was exceptional

Visited for dinner with a group arranges in advance. Group was 32 people and they only provided one waiter. Slow service and food sat on trays waiting for one staff to deliver plates resulting in food that wasnt very warm. Asked for refills on water which was room temperature when they brought out a fresh pitcher. Food was mediocre. No apology for poor service.

Quick service, good food and drinks, very clean. We had a new server and he was super polite. The Balls of Fire appetizer is the BOMB!!

My daughter LOVES crab legs so we get roped into going here every chance she gets. We loved our server. He was attentive and friendly and made us laugh with the cute sayings/labels he wrote on our bibs. We ordered the crab dip appetizer and it was good. My husband had the New Orleans Steam-pot and he enjoyed it, but I ordered the Sam Adams Steam-pot and swear it was just the OldBay seasoning all over the ingredients from the Sam Adams steam pot. I could not taste anything but OldBay. I didn't like mine at all. They keep the garage-like doors open so you can see the riverwalk so even if you're inside it feels hot and humid like you're outside. We were there in the summer heat of August so I guess they can't really help that, but it was a little uncomfortable. Overall it was decent and my daughter and husband enjoyed their meals, but I'm from the outer banks of NC and I prefer really fresh seafood.

We had a great meal at Joe's - the cocktails were good, the soup very filling and the fish / shrimp excellent portions. The place has a good buzz about it and the staff very friendly. A must to return for more crab!

We had a reservation. Were seated. Twenty minutes later no one had brought water, menus or even glanced our way. Three other tables seated after us had been waited on. Husband let hostess know. Finally the bartender comes to take our order, she says first “because it’s kind of busy” (it was not) and then admits no one has come because they are embarrassed they overlooked us for so long. Both my shrimp and my husbands were tough and not at all good; his fish was dry and overcooked. Entirely meal and experience were just so bad. I would NEVER eat here again.

I forgot the name of the dish but when it arrived the fries were a bt cold, the shrimp was salty, service was ok since they rapidly swap it for another dish, the place is a bit crowded but ok.
MMM MMM GOOd
Joe's is a must eat trip. I love the bibs too. It is a good lace to go if you are really hungry and don't want to break the bank!
