If you like Sandwiches you need to eat here. The Hot Sausage, Egg and Cheese for breakfast is a must! The Sausage is a fine grind in thin case, spiced (enough to make your nose tingle), then grilled and split. On a lucky day you'll get one on the verge of medium-well with a hot dog like crispy skin. It sits down in an Italian Roll that has been steaming/heating on a pile of other rolls and sausages on the well seasoned flat top grill. Creamy American Cheese meets an Over-Medium Egg in every bite. To step it up a notch add a long hot pepper and/or potatoes. The potatoes are a buttery hash that complete and cool the sandwich, the pepper mixes with the american cheese making a queso that is unexpected and excellent. "Hot, Egg and Cheese...Long Hots" Enjoy! The Cheesesteak is also one of Phillys best. Chopped steak, fresh long roll, and any topping and cheese you can come up with. They are still serving another Philly classic - The Hot Combo. It is a Deep Fried Fish Cake sitting on top of the same famous Johnny's Hot Sausage. Order it traditionally with pepper hash - a minced spicy slaw that pairs with the fish cake. Or try it with ketchup, mustard or hot sauce. You might be surprised how much you like it! Friendly and fun staff, fair prices. Open from early morning to early afternoon Mon - Sat. P.S. - Great Fresh Coffee. P.P.S. - Try the Cheese Fries if you're hung over.

Yep there's a fish cake on my hot dog. Apparently this is an old Philly thing and Johnny's Hots is the last one still doing it. Got mine with mustard and pepper hash and I gotta admit it was damn tasty.

you're not going to get anything fancy here, but they deliver the goods on what philly loves and they do it well. the hot sausage is top notch and a great price.

My brother turned me onto Johnny's a few years ago and when I'm back home in Philly I just can't stay away from the double egg bacon and cheese breakfast sandwich. I love fried egg and bacon sandwiches. This may be the best of all I've had. The secret here for all of Johnny's sandwiches is the roll, and the breakfast sandwich here is truly a great meal to start the day. The eggs and the bacon are cooked perfectly. Johnny is a true grill meister, plus is a hard working and genuinely nice guy. There's no place to sit and eat, it doesn't matter it's so good.

This place is just great. I can't say enough good things. It's a very reasonably priced breakfast and lunch place. It's a stand with only outdoor seating. The cheesesteaks here are some of the best in Philly without the huge lines and high prices or the drama about ordering correctly. The hot dogs and hot sausages are tremendous also. The place is famous for putting a fish cake on a hot sausage but I have yet to try that. Breakfast sandwiches are great too. The service is efficient and friendly. The owner is almost always here working behind the counter. It's a favorite among the locals so you're likely to see plenty of cops and construction workers.

The only bad thing about this place is its not open enough! I have been here many times but decided to write a review after taking some friends there. I told them its the best sausage in town and they were not disappointed. I ordered the hot sausage and a side of hot fries. The fries were perfect! just the right amount of spice. Not too hot. The hot sausage was the same. The sauerkraut was very fresh as well! My friend ordered 2 right off the bat and quickly wolfed them down. He then asked me if he ordered a third if I would think he was a pig! haha. I said go for it. He got about half way through that and stated that he wanted to save the rest for tomorrow. I would go there a lot more if they were open more but I understand that the owner just doesnt want the late night hassle and I respect that. Its the best kept secret in Fishtown and possibly all of Philly.

Open from early in the morning until early afternoon, Johnny How's never disappoints. They have a pretty diverse sandwich menu but they get their name from the amazing hot sausage sandwich that they sell. There are many places in Philadelphia to get a great sandwich but if you like hot sausage, then Johnny Hots is the only place to go.
The best breakfast sandwiches in Philly if not the country
Love this place. Discovered Johnny's Hots when I exited I-95 at Girard Avenue due to a traffic jam and it was well worth the detour. Johnny's is not your typical sit down restaurant. It is a friendly modern clean outdoor stand with a few benches and several post mounted shelves which serve as stand up tables. Parking is limited to a small parking lot and street parking. There is usually plenty of parking across the street in front of Penn Treaty Park. Parking is always available as most of the business is take out. The customer mix is extensive with patrons from every policing force in the area to contractors, business people in Mercedes, local personalities and an occasional movie/television star. The food ranges from grilled hot dogs to hot sausage sandwiches and home made soup of the day during the winter months. Additionally Philly cheese steaks, hot turkey & roast beef sandwiches on custom baked rolls and fries. Service is extremely fast with short wait times. Another Philly favorite is Johnny's surf & turf, a grilled hot dog on top of a fish cake on a long roll. Breakfast is on the menu until eleven in the morning. My personal favorite breakfast is a double egg, ham, bacon sandwich with a dash of ketchup on a soft Kaiser roll. Forget Pat & Ginos, go to Johnny's. Johnny is cooking and on site Monday thru Saturday.
