Old Town Seattle

By Greg M |

Jude's has arrived in the Rainier Beach area of South Seattle. Located near the southern tip of Lake Washington. A very family friendly atmosphere along with a very diverse menu make this a must visit here in Seattle. Would like to say the Tabasco Caesar Salad was the winner for me. Also they support our local Brewerys and Distillers.

South Seattle's Hidden secret.

Assume menue and bar scene. The gumbo is the signature entry. They take pride in the dedication to locally sourced venders.

Nice place for drinks in the Beach

I feel a bit guilty that it took me so like to start visiting Jude's. It's located just down the hill from my house. They have a very cute new outdoor seating area that's really nice on sunny/cool evenings. The service is very nice. Stop by if you haven't already.

Great food and highly recommend

This place is incredible. Quaint restaurant and is very welcoming. Definitely recommend the Grits Plate. It is one of the best meals I have ever had. Highly recommend this place.

Perfect place to have a beverage and great food!

With a welcoming vibe, Jude's provides a neighborhood feel with great service and quality prepared foods that change weekly with a fresh sheet. The patio is a ray of sunshine in Seattle, where finding outside eating can be a challenge. The gumbo is solid and the poutine can warm you up on the chilliest and rainiest of days! Drinks are well made by knowledgable staff and the company at the bar is usually an interesting mix of locals to Rainier Beach. Children are made to feel welcome by the friendly staff and they love the long list of "mocktails" on the menu!

Twice burned

Okay, so we in general like this restaurant, but so disappointed in our last two visits. Both times they were missing items on the menu. The service was so-so and the bread pudding was almost not edible (cold, hard and not tasty). They served us with plastic utensils because the hadn't kept up cleaning, yet it wasn't all that busy. Server was not very attentive. Not a very friendly staff, either. So bummed, because first couple of visits were great.

Delicious Food

We stopped here for a late dinner right after landing in Seattle. The food was delicious! As an 8+ year vegetarian, I had accepted that I couldn’t get decent Cajun food anymore, but this place managed to make vegetarian Cajun food so flavorful and tasty! Definitely recommend getting the blackened tofu with grits and red beans!

Great addition to the neighborhood!

Small but bustling on the opening day. Tried the Jude burger and was quite pleased with the flavor. Fries were good. Great selection of local beers. Hope they do well enough to expand into the space next door!

Great bar and drink selection!

Had to review this place again, because it is just so awesome. A little South Seattle gem. If you are in the area, it is worth coming in for food or drinks. We were just there for drinks this time. But we will always be back again for food! Drinks are tasty, strong, and well priced!

Comfortable, friendly place with great food

Some places just make you feel good when you walk in. Jude's in friendly, the service is great, and so's the food. it leans a little Creole, but vegetarians and those avoiding gluten are catered to. There's an in house made sweet potato and chick pea burger. Eight beers on tap, good, local ones. They have cocktails. Etouffee is out of this world, and the shrimp are perfectly cooked. .The menu isn't huge, but you will find something you like here because they know what they're doing and know how to cook.

I great cocktail bar with good food

Great Breakfast Spot!

We were looking for a good breakfast on S. Rainier and ended up at Jude's Old Town. Friendly folks and terrific food, Jude's is a delicious option! They have a couple tables outside too if it is a nice day.

Great pub fare with NOLA flair

There aren't many great dining places in Rainier Beach, and after Cafe Vignole closed, we eagerly awaited the opening of Jude's Old Town in that space. Jude's is owned by the folks who run Lottie's Lounge in Columbia City, so we had fairly high expectations. On a Thursday evening around 6pm my friend and ventured down the hill to give Jude's a try. It's a small space, rearranged from the old restaurant's layout. The bar and pub feel are inviting, though the turquoise walls and orange glass lamps hanging from the the ceiling remind me of the old Howard Johnson color scheme. There are booths now and those set off one seating area. Some tables near the front, plus seating at the bar. The menu has a New Orleans flair. I'm not overly familiar with that vibe, but I'll bet some folks who love it will like the offerings here. We both ordered cocktails from the full bar, my friend declaring her Manhattan excellent with a great-tasting cherry in it, and I really loved the Double-Ginger Mule. So refreshing, not overly sweet, served in a copper mug. This will be a great refresher when weather gets warm. My friend ordered the burger and loved it. The fries were good, too. I ordered the mac and cheese. They have a second version with crawfish, but I wanted to test the regular in case this would be a good place to bring my mac and cheese loving boyfriend. It was tasty and creamy, served in its own l little baking dish, but it's spicy. It like that, but the boyfriend won't. It came with a side salad, and I chose the house dressing. This was really good, too. Not as good as my old Cafe Vignole favorite, but very lively with the arugula, parmesan and a sprinkling of currants. A great counterpoint to the mac and cheese. Service was friendly and prices are very reasonable. I'm not a beer drinker, but it look like they have a great selections for beer aficionados. The place seats under 50 people, and for a small space it was extremely loud. This early on a midweek evening. There was a combination of singles, couples, small groups and families there. My friend and I shared a booth and we gave up trying to have a conversation. Just couldn't hear each other. I can't imagine this place on a more rowdy weekend night, but then, I've never cared for that scene. I don't know if there are things management could to to make acoustics quieter, but they might give that some thought. We'll probably give Jude's more visits and explore more of the menu. It's very good.

Excellent restaurant in South Seattle

The food here has a Caribbean twist, and it is incredibly tasty! They also have a full bar, which is awesome. It is a very small place, but worth going out of the way for if you want a really tasty meal. They always have daily specials too, so everyday you can get a different menu.

Great addition to the south end

Jude's is a wonderful (somewhat new) place in Rainier Beach. I can't believe that it took me this long to make my first visit. The gumbo & cornbread were really good. The service was very pleasant and attentive. I highly recommend a visit.

Amazing food, amazing service

The bartender Anna was very attentive, welcoming, kind, and she makes a good strong drink. The food was amazing, and the service was excellent + timely. We had the Buddha Burger, which is an amazing vegetarian option. The Polenta with Mushrooms was delicious. The brussels sprouts were perfectly cooked, and the fries were crispy and delicious (top 5 I’ve ever had). I would highly recommend this fine establishment.
