Maybe the Dim Sum is Better

By Rob C |

We came here for dinner before the Penn and Teller show. They were not serving dim sum, so we ordered dinner off the menu. We couldn’t find any lobster in the lobster egg rolls. The main courses were good, but nothing special. Service was a bit off. Wish we’d have eaten somewhere else.

Best Dim Sum in town

By robertkG72YW |

Authentic Chinese Dim Sum available every day; a huge selection to choose from . If you don't see what you want, ask a server to get it for you. The regular menu is also superb but service a little lacking if you don't speak Chinese

Fast service of food and it was servered hot, overall avaerage taste

By MIFire |

While attending conference at the Rio my wife and I stopped here to dine. We were seated quickly and overall service was good. They seem to have more than enough wait staff so at times it felt that they were always standing nearby (within feet) waiting to remove dinnerware etc. Food was severed quickly but that is common in most Asian style cooking. Food was average taste. I like Asian food so eat it often and this was ok. If I were in area again I would seek out another place to try.

west coast chinese sytle

By Rollo Romulus |

excellent service, friendly, great hot food, especially the tea, i think like 200 degrees, soup wonton was great, brown rice with shrimp, and mongolian beef excellent

KJ’s Kitchen Chinese Restaurant is NOT GOOD

By DaveJ8563 |

KJ’s Kitchen Chinese Restaurant is not good at all. One of the worst meals of all time. I was not going to write anything, but I felt I had to say something. The chicken and cashews was all garlic and the chicken was all chicken fat. The roast duck was barely edible. The wonton soup had shrimp in every wonton. The tea was ok. DO NOT EAT HERE.

Nothing special

By Blacksand2013 |

They only have the dim sum carts during lunch. It did not mention that on the website. Food was average at best. a lot of noodles not too much chicken. wait staff seemed very rushed and were not too friendly. Restaurant was only half fill maybe that should have been a sign to go somewhere else.

Good dim sum lunch

By KwanAg |

Nine of us ordered a full table of dim sum that we could finished. The bill came up to $100. Helpful staff, good service.

Quality Eats

By harryk5000 |

I tried Rio's Dimsum Seafood Restaurant for the first time at my recent stay at the Rio Casino & Hotel in May 2017. The place has a lot of atmosphere and the service is very good. the food is very tasty but cost is a consideration. I recommed that if you get a chance to try it you will like it.

Great Food

By Carol T |

We made a reservation for 6 ladies and we had a large round table. This is a combination of seafood and Asian food and we got 6 different dishes to share. The service was great and prices reasonable. We were there for a quick dinner before going to see the show WOW. They only have a beer and wine license so no mixed drinks. Portions were ample and tasty.

Good place for Dim Sum

By Karina D |

Of all the restaurants we've dined in Vegas, we had the least expectations on this restaurant because typically, a Chinese restaurant in a casino = poor quality Chinese food. We had dim sum and to our amazement, the food was good, service was fast and efficient. What a surprise! We were expecting low quality food, and typical non-existent service. We had 5/6 dim sum dishes between the 2 of us. Bill came to $24 (including $1 pp for tea), very reasonable. Overall, 2 thumps up for dim sum at KJ!

Good Chinese food in the Rio hotel

By Traveling_Eric8 |

I came here with some coworkers for dinner last night. The food was really good and authentic. I thought the restaurant is a bit too lit up, it might be nicer if it was a little dim. We ordered 9 dishes for 4 people, but we couldn't finish everything.

Really nice chinese food

By Ananta M |

We went for dinner at this restaurant and really enjoyed the tasty food options. We tried a variety of noodle dishes, some spicy chicken and seafood entrees and liked them all.

Takeaway

By TheTravellingFerret |

We didn't eat in, but their takeaway was still really good. Substantial portions for a good price, and really appreciated the broth being separate from the noodles for easy transportation.

Good

By S-Badventures |

We went on 11/21/2016. It was 12:00 pm with 7 guest. We sat at a wonderful table right away. The carts were very fast. Very few servers understand English. That was okay. It was clean and bright. They ran out of duck. I would like to see more veggie options. We asked for white rice. It never came. We had to ask for water many times. They kept our tea pots full.;) We walked from the strip. The walk away over was littered with trash, needles, bottles etc. I am sure there is better Dim Sum. We were happy with KJ.

Would never go back

By Xmas1955 |

The restaurant was full and very noisy. Hard to carry on a conversation. Took a while to get waited on and the waiter had no patience in explaining the dishes or answering our questions. Our food for a table of 3 was all delivered at different times (4-5 minutes apart). Food was mediocre at best. Ordered a cooked vegetable plate to share since the main entrees came only with scallions as veges. The vegetable plate consisted of bok choy and broccoli with no sauce or flavor to it at all.

Yum Yum...Dim Sum

By minpinmama858 |

I've been craving dim sum for quite some time, so I couldn't wait to visit this place. We ordered 2 shrimp rice noodle rolls, 1 beef rice noodle roll, 1 shirmp hargow, 1 pork xiu mai, 1 bowl of congee, and 1 plate Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. The food was delicious, service was fast & friendly. Best of all...our bill came out to $40 including tip. We will definitely be coming back for some more dim sum the next time we visit.

Wonderful variety on the menu

By mustangbonnieCanada |

This is a great place for Chinese Food. The menu has everything you could think of along the lines of this cuisine. The portion sizes are decent and very filling. We ordered a pork dish and a prawn dish with one side of white rice it was plenty for my husband and me. We even went back a second time in our 5 day stay at the Rio to try other things. We were not disappointed. The service was outstanding, no wait time to be seated, waiter was at our table within seconds and the food came out with very little wait time and very hot. Great place for incredible food, enjoy.

Awesome Dim Sum

By Paul A |

We went to KJ's for Dim Sum and it was excellent. The Har Gow and shrimp fried wontons were excellent. Everything we had was good. The chinese brocolii and the sweet and sour pork was so tasty. We also like Orchid Garden, but now we give KJ the edge. You won't be disappointed.

Food was amazing, every kind od seafood you could think of.

By Lena R |

Stuffed myself on every kind of seafood you can think of. Salads of all kinds, amazing large dessert bar. Friendly and helpful staff, very clean restaurant. Drinks were refilled often.

Lunch and Dim Sum at the restaurant.

By Naniachitta |

We had Dim Sum at the restaurant. The Dim Sum was very good. We also had lunch the next day. We had house special noodles, fried vegetables, and some dim sum. The egg custard was very good, that was my best dessert. The restaurant is open until late night. Service is very good. Waiters and waitress are very friendly.

Great Chinese & Service

By Fil J |

We read the reviews on the Dim Sum, but we were not having that, so thought we would try. We were not disappointed. We were skeptical because there were only 3 tables occupied. But the service was great, and the recommendations by the staff were very good. We had Black bean shrimp, and Orange Chicken. Both were excellent.

Dimsum time

By rgeulen |

This was a good place to satisfy craving for dimsum. Food was good. Service was great. Prices were reasonable. Can’t wait to return

Great Dim Sum

By Mitchell L |

I am chinese and have eaten dim sum all over the world including Hong Kong. Would rate KJ as one of the best in Las Vegas.

Rude staff

By DrMarvinCarter |

Went here for a group event. Mediocre food, horrible service, with one staff person outright hostile. Complaints to management were ignored. Numerous friends had warned me, but a group event enticed me to try it. A waste of money.

Average Asian food

By Charlie D |

Food was average, price was higher than. Don't have individual size soup portions - have to buy a large bowl. Take a pass and head to the Asian inside the casino.

Dim sum

By William H |

This is a fantastic place to get a beer and some great cuisine The dim sum lunch was fantastic, and the service was amazing

DUMPLINGS!!

By Durwood N |

In the recently reopened Rio Hotel and Casino, this was one of the few restaurants that was actually open the night we went. I have to admit I was extremely pleasantly surprised. The quality of the dumplings was superb. I loved everything I tried and I tried several. My family equally enjoyed the choices they made and I have to say that the staff, while probably a little bit overwhelmed, did great. I can’t wait to go back and try the dim sum

No Dim Sum but an amazing meal!

By Marta S |

We stopped in hoping for Dim Sum Carts which they didn't have but decided to stay and eat anyway. We were impressed by the large menu and quickly found an amazing tofu dish to share. Great food and great service!

Very Good Dim Sum

By ForeverWonderful |

Been to many dim sum restaurants and KJ ranks among very good. There are always some better, but more expensive. Service fast with a lot of variety on carts. Went with a group of 8 and only spent $12 tasting about 7 dishes.

Dim Sum at lunch only

By OsideMom2three |

Friendly service but they sort of hover over you while you are eating and clearing away things immediately. May work for some but I would have rather had less interaction and enjoyed my food more. Rice is extra and so is tea. Not unreasonable but was a bit surprised as it usually comes with entrees.

Best food at the RIO

By vittarioi |

The food is served fresh, hot and delicious. I truly recommend to all!Try the Honey Walnut Shrimp, the Sicilian Chicken or the Lo Mein which is the best!

Dim sum denied

By erikinvan |

A restaurant with dim sum in the name that only serves dim sum from 11a-3pm in Las Vegas. We took an Uber over and arrived promptly at 3:25 and learned this. Now you know.

Good dim sum.

By Jody58703 |

My girlfriend and I went right before lunch when they started serving the dim sum, they go up and down between the tables with carts full of different varieties of dim sum , we also had the Mongolian beef and the chicken with broccoli, all was excellent.

Great, regular priced Dim Sum for lunch

By johnllee |

I have eaten at some very good Dim Sum resturants in Vegas, I found an averaged priced one with good Dim Sum in the Rio. Usually I see an 30 % up charge for the casinos which was missing from KJs. My advice is to ask your waiter for the dishes you want as I had to order beef meat balls and egg custard since they were not on the carts and it took a few minutes to prepare. That had a good selection of steamed and fried including the bowls of Cantonese soups. They have steamed & baked bbq pork buns, shrimp dumplings, taro cake, pork dumplings, chicken feet, tripe & much more. I drive in the back way from Sammy Davis Jr drive and go to the self parking deck.

5 stars

By TripMember07152021 |

Excellent food, the staff is so accommodating to explain things as some of them (the ones who serve the a la carte) don’t speak English. But it add to the allure of the place. Love!

Dim sum or 点心 some say Yum sum

By mykomyko |

I met a friend here a few months ago. I knew the place was busy, so thought it would be good. The food you pick from carts passing by. This is helpful to non Chinese like me, you get to see what it is before you order it. Prices are a little higher then other nearby Dim Sum places, but food was good.

Great evening out!

By John D |

Absolutely wonderful dim sum!!!! We had a wonderful time and our waiter David So really helped us through the menu. Definitely will return when back in Las Vegas.

brunch

By ri0 |

been coming to this restaurant for years and it haven’t disappoint me. food is always good, service is great although sometimes it’s hard to understand the ladies that pushes dimsum cart. a bit pricey i mean of course it’s in the hotel at tourist destination town. would totally recommend this place to my friends and relatives. oh and the i don’t know but my daughter call it sweet tofu reminds us of back home where street vendor sell ‘em. we call it taho and it wakes up my daugther in the morning when the vendor start yelling and the dogs starts barking hehehe.

Worst Chinese food on the Planet

By Voyage688842 |

I ordered the steak in pepper sauce. Don't know what I got but neither my girlfriend or me recognized it as beef. Decided to skip the conflict ordered two lobster rolls. Literally came out dripping in hot grease without any sign of lobster in it at all after a plate direction. The girlfriends cashew chicken was tasteless white chicken. She ended up eating only steam rice. I have eaten Chinese all over the world in many different neighborhoods and never ever have I eaten anything this bad. This is the first bad review I have ever written and I'm 56 so trust me or judge for yourself. Not surprised though the entire RIO hotel is pretty tired these days. Totally ruined a night of our vacation.

Nice place

By D W |

Was kind of late so wasn't really busy at all. Wait staff was very nice and service was great. Food was nice and fresh and tasted great.

Authentic Asian Cuisine at Rio

By mstravelrx |

This was good! Never had Dim Sum...Found a few dishes I liked. But this is a more authentic restaurant than most Americans are used to (i.e. Chicken Feet). I believe the waiter said there was a more Cantonese influence. Don't come looking for General Tso's chicken!!! The dumplings and pork bun were my favorite :-). My waiter Alan was awesome!!!

Excellent, from start to finish!

By BMOTT |

This is a culinary treasure. The food was fresh, tasty and plentiful. The spring roll was light and crisp. We followed this up with house special wonton soup, which included an abundance of chicken, shrimp, and beef. The entree, shrimp with seasonal vegetables was seasoned perfectly and large enough for two to share. It's also worth noting that this is a great dining value, everything was reasonably priced. This is worth a visit!

Best Restaurant in the Rio

By Brad D |

Great Asian food. Away from Casino area. Comfortable seating and QUIET dinning. Dim Sum available only during lunch hours.

Best dim sum in Vegas!

By LINDA W |

This is the place if you want the best dim sum! You know it's good when all the diners are Asian and I'm the only EuroAmerican. Every time I visit Vegas I have to have one meal there, preferably dim sum between the hours of 1000-1500. The beauty of dim sum, neither I nor the wait staff need to understand each other, you just point what you want as the carts go by!

Pleasantly Surprised!

By Linda W |

We are staying at the Club Wyndham Desert Blue and wanted to find a place we could walk to for dinner. We strolled over to the Rio. None of the dining venues were busy (on a Saturday night, no less), and we finally decided to eat at KJ. We chose to share an order of spring rolls, which came out hot, crispy and light. We then ordered cashew chicken and sweet and sour shrimp. The portions were generous. The sauce on the chicken dish was light, the vegetables crispy. The shrimp were huge and the sweet and sour sauce delicious. This meal far exceeded our expectations.

Pretty good dim sum.

By M-SCUBA |

Was not crowded. The dim sum was average and the price was reasonable. We were confused about seating because no one was at the door, but quickly found someone to ask and seated ourselves. The servers were attentive. I would definitely eat here again.

Outstanding Dim Sum

By Adam H |

Ping Pang Pong is the "go to" place for Dim Sum in Vegas. But on a recent visit there was a 60-90 minute wait. I crossed the street into the Rio and tried Dim Sum at KJ. It was every bit as good as Ping Pang Pong, and cheaper. Excellent. I waited 3 weeks and returned for Dim Sum - another great experience. Have not eaten there in the evening, but if you want excellent Dim Sum having a very wide selection, at a great price, and usually with no wait then you'll really enjoy KJ Dim Sum in the Rio. I highly recommend it. Lunch/brunch for 2, excluding drinks, is about $22-30. No kidding. Tea for two is $2. Soft drinks $2 each. You can eat huge quantities here, enough to fill you for a day of hard manual labor, and it won't bust your budget (might bust your belt - lol.)

Good DimSum

By Tom Y |

We went there for Dim Sum. I was not disappointed. It was on a Thursday and there was a good crowd. I would consider their dim sun above average. They came out nice and hot on carts. Price was 3:50 to 4:50 per dish. Service was great. You can use Total Reward Points there. They don't have business during dinner time. The price is too expensive. They should lower it to something more reasonable to compete with Ping Pang Pong at the Gold Coast next door.

By Jennifer3124 |

So disappointed! It sure has changed from the last time I was there. Dont pay the extra cash for tiny lobster🙄

Just OK...nothing fantastic

By Kirk P |

Stopped in for a quick bite...my wife and I split an order of Kung Pao Chicken since we were just snacking. $15.95 for about 2 cups of entre'. No rice, no soup, nothing else. Green tea with tons of tea leaves floating around...who had this? The KungPao was OK, but pretty sweet...tasted more like beef/broccoli. It was very convenient, across from the buffet...but we will probably not visit there again. Overpriced and nothing to brag about.

Good food and very good service

By dbl60 |

The Chinese food is good, nothing overly special, but it is well prepared and tasty. We had hoped for Dim Sum, but were a little late

Photos added. Excellent Dinner

By NitroDog |

My wife and I dined here for dinner. We started with a pot of Chinese Hot Tea, followed with the Moo Shu Pork appetizer (it should become a main dish). We shared the Sizzling Pepper Steak and Cashew Chicken. YUM! Everything was great. I added many photos and will return again.

Yep, another great restaurant in the Rio

By pegshannon |

Seriously authentic chinese food. At lunch, servers come around with rolling carts filled with vast choices of hot, fresh food. Lots to choose from. Lunch is cheap. Dinner is by the plate and more expensive; throughout the day, the food here is excellent.

Good value, decent food, no dim sum in evenings

By zracoon |

We came to try the dim sum but found out they only serve that during the day. Portions are huge so we got an appetizer and a plate of peking spare ribs. Whole meal for two of us (without drinks) was only about $30. Service was also good. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a less expensive, but good meal.

Not Good

By GEORGE W |

We were seated promptly and before we had our coats off they had a cart there asked her to come back in a minute had to wait 10. When the cart with the fried goods returned we ordered two items, both cold, sent them back, returned in about two minutes microwaved and sitting in a pool of grease. Gave up on anything deep fried as it went around on that cart for another 15 minutes with no way to keep it warm. All the steamed dishes we tried had the weirdest taste kind of like dish soap, hard to explain but it was just plain bad food all around. Would not go back here.

Go if you're interested in getting Sea sick

By Mike S |

We had tickets for Penn & Teller and we were starving. It was too late for the seafood buffet at the Rio. We ducked into the KJ Dim Sum restaurant. Plenty of open tables should have been an indicator that this was not going to be an experience. Everything is a la carte, including tea. Long lengthy menu that would rival any diner, our waiter made a few recommendations of the chef specials. We ordered a pork rib clay pot and a sizzling seafood entree. The ribs were gummy and the seafood under cooked. We paid our check and felt uneasy but made through dinner, the show and to some ice cream on the strip. Wouldn't recommend or return.

Delicious

By Redbubbles1111 |

We stopped in after a long day and were starving. I had creamy walnut shrimp and husband had sweet and sour chicken. Both superb. Freshly made and hot with great flavor.

A must try!

By Jessica C |

We are travelwrs and love tasting DimSum worldwide, and this place have everything you want Dim Sum, by that I mean you have the flavors from the street food, with the delicate taste and elegance from the restaurant. They walk around you so often with more than 4 carts of variety that is hard to try all, me and my husband tried 10 dishes/tapas from savory, spicy, sweet to soup, noodles and rice. Tried all kind and everything was cooked perfectly and flavorful 🤗👪 we will definitely coming back next year!

Below average I'm afraid

By ChrisGower1975 |

Visited the Rio to do the zip line and was pleasantly surprised to be welcomed with a Chinese restaurant staring at us. I wish I had have checked Trip Adviser before committing. The staff were very pleasant but far too keen. To the point, you would barely finish your drink and they would be right on top of you. We did have a nice chat with a lovely waiter about Europe and all that is part of a great, polite dining experience. However, the other guys literally threw the food at us. Starters and main courses almost came out together and the restaurant was only half full. It made no sense. We had dishes smothering our table. The food was poor. Worst hot and sour soup I have ever had and the kung po chicken and chicken with ginger and spring onions were not great either. I would personally avoid...even though it is populated with Chinese people and serves pigs intestines. To top it off I had hideous stomach cramps in the night. I am not totally pointing the finger at these guys but in my two week stay, it was the only place I walked away from suffering with a terrible stomach.

Good Dim Sum in Spacious Setting

By chanyu1 |

This is a hidden gem if you like Cantonese dim sum in Las Vegas. It is inside the Rio Casino in Vegas and off the Strip so you would need transportation to get here. Even inside the Rio Casino, you would have to ask for directions to get to this restaurant as the Rio Casino is hugh and directional signs are lacking. We did not see a single sign directing people to this restaurant so you need to ask. Once we located the restaurant, we found that it is spacious and no line for a large table as we had a party of 10 people. We were seated almost immediately and the dim sum carts arrived instantaneously. The servers were all nice and even if requested items were not in the dim sum cart, the server is willing to order it for you. The quality of the dim sum is at par with other good dim sum restaurants in Vegas like Ping Pang Pong and I think the service is superior. The best is this place is larger than PPP so it's not as noisy. I would definitely return here again the next time I am in Vegas and want Chinese dim sum...

Always fantastic!

By ArmyNurseElPaso_TX |

Very good service. Excellent food. The ladies pushing the carts are often difficult to understand, but everyone is helpful.

Excellent Dim Sum and Excellent Service

By CWolf1096 |

We used to go to Ping Pang Pong (in Gold Coast) for Dim Sum when we were in Vegas. But this place was equally good. The food was delicious and the staff was attentive. Even better was Rio Casino does not charge for parking. It is a short drive from the Strip on Flamingo Road. This place is very crowded on the weekends so if you are visiting Vegas, try go there on a weekday.

Nice Dim Sum Place

By Flintstone168 |

The restaurant is located in Rio Hotel and Casino. It is a pretty large restaurant. They serve most of the dim sum like other dim sum restaurants. It has high ceiling. Service is good.

They are open now in March 2021

By Tom Y |

I just found out that they are open now. Nothing was changed. Dim Sum is still very good. We have to visit to keep them in business. Tables are further apart. Servers have mask. Good PPP practice.

Tasty dim sum

By FlyDog33 |

Located in the Rio Hotel, this restaurant serves authentic dim sum. We heard from locals that the dim sum here rivaled any dim sum in Vegas Chinatown, and I have to agree with that. The food was very good. Cart service was slow, and we had to chase down a few carts to get our food. The place was packed with nearly all Asian customers, so that was also a good endorsement for this place. Convenience to the Vegas strip was another positive. We’d come back again for dim sum.

Surprise in the Rio

By StonecreekArabians |

If you consider Dim Sum a buffet of sorts then this is one of the better buffets in Vegas not only in quality of food, but in price. This is not a Rio casino owned restaurant, but a leased space to the owners of KJ Chinese restaurant. Dim sum is served daily 10 to 3. The quality is very good. The selections are varied and there are enough to satisfy most people. If you can't find what is brought around on carts, you may order off the menu. We had perhaps 8-10 dishes and the bill came to 30 dollars. We were not hungry after eating. What I found interesting is that the customer clientele was 90% Asian. To me that says the food must be fairly authentic. Some have said the service was spotty at best. I found it to be good, but not intrusive as some dim sum places can be. I will eat there again. Television? Yes, but all tuned to Asian language channels.

Dim Sum Place

By Stay20647425082 |

This place is great - the dim sim compares with some of the best from China and Hong Kong. It is amazing to me that the place never seems too busy given the price and quality of the offerings. I believe with some promotional activity - Hotel cupons, buy 2 get one at 50% off promotional effort or such would get more American visitors to try. Most people staying at the Rio probably don't know what "Dim Sum" is.

Bad Workers

By Doug V |

Unfriendly service here. For being so empty for dinner (Only 3 tables with customers) the service was bad and unfriendly. Don't dare to ask a question to the snippy older server. Not good. She would rather stand by the wine bottles than serve you.

Rio hotel best kept secret

By dkerrick |

While staying at the Rio hotel for the night I took my husband for a birthday Chinese dinner. What a shocking discovery. Excellent service, sadly kind of on the expensive side but the food was worth it. The sweet and sour chicken was fabulous and the fried rice was delicious. My husband had the cashew chicken and emptied his plate. Best Chinese food I’ve had in Nevada since moving here three years ago. Unlike a normal every day Chinese place everything ordered you pay for no soup, salad, fortune cookies or tea comes with diner everything you buy separately. My town has no Chinese food places so finding good Chinese was like finding a pot of gold. I will be back.

Dim Sum

By SherryM5106 |

We were looking for a quick dinner before the Penn & Teller show in Vegas. We enjoy Chinese food and thought it would be a good fit, being the performance was in the Rio. I can't say it is a 4 but a 3 1/2, yes. The restaurant wasn't busy or crowed and thought we would be in and out, in no time. Our server was very friendly and helpful in navigating us through the menu. The food was prepared quickly as we had hoped. Chicken and Broccoli is my go to, when I am not sure about the menu. It was good, not great, it lacked flavor and taste. The meal was served hot. The price of our dinners were very reasonable. I wouldn't say I would return, but I am not going to say it's a place you shouldn't try.

Pretty decent chinese

By William D |

Surprised at how good the various dishes were. Fresh vegetables in wide variety. Excellent sauces. Enjoyed several different scallop dishes and also the fried tofu. Pleasant, chatty wait staff. Also surprised us with a Wine list with a good variety of offerings.

Good Dim Sum. Dinner menu is too expensive compared to Ping Peng Pong next door

By Tom Y |

This place serve decent DimSum. That's about it. The dinner menu is expensive compared to Ping Pang Pong next door at the Gold Coast. Every time when I pass by during dinner hours 7-8 PM, there is only a few customers. I went there for dinner only because I have a $100 comp from the casino. For 2 people, it is barely enough for a nice dinner. Management has to just serve similar dishes with the same price as Ping Pang Pong to attract customers for dinner. Find out why PPP is so successful and duplicate.

Good

By NomadingNick |

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Cleanliness: 4/5 Decor & Style: 5/5 The food is pretty good overall however not the best i've had. Some of the dishes are slightly dry but at least still tasty. For Vegas this place has good prices. Love the large room so wait times is not as long as some of the other smaller places on Spring Mountain Rd, at least for my first time experience here at KJ.

local asian hot spot

By Gerald W |

The fresh seafood is the name of the game here all the dishes are prepared fresh and tasty good service and on week ends their DIM SUM can not be beat. Give it a try you won't be sorry

Best thing in the hotel

By MissG67 |

Very crowded. Take out available. Pretty tasty. Beware if the Rio offers room food credit, this restaurant supposedly doesn't apply

Yummmmmmm!!!

By NickyNi |

We stumbled upon this place by accident. We were looking for the seafood buffet, which is right across the hall. The food here was incredibly good and fresh. I'm still craving their Shrimp Fried Rice (which by the way was not refried in soy sauce) and the Shrimp & Broccoli that we had ginger added to. I'm now searching for somewhere in Chicago that can compare.

Unpalatable dishes with small servings! Give this one a miss!

By Jeannie L |

We ordered around 10 dishes and we did not even enjoy one single dish. Do yourself a favor and avoid this one at all cost!

Delicious, great service!

By seattlesun6 |

Decided to get dinner here at the Rio hotel before going to the WOW show (which was fantastic!) The restaurant was empty at 6pm and unlike most Vegas restaurants- brightly lit. I wasn’t sure what to expect. The service was out of this world! We had six waiters do everything for us! From pouring tea every time our cups needed a refill (from the cute teapot on the table), to serving the delicious wonton soup and ladling on the best beef I have ever eaten! The recommendations of our waiter were perfect, the food was delicious (the main dish was the most tender filet mignon with perfectly done vegetables that weren’t smushy). The price was very good - a large plate of the beef was $17, less than a typical drink in Vegas! Overall I was very happy!!!

Stopped and left

By Calondra |

We originally were going to the buffet but was faced with a long line. We decided to stop in. Truthfully, the waiter was polite, but the menu was way overpriced. We were going to get the shrimp balls as an appetizer, but they said no more. I was going to order ribs, but it doesn't come with anything. Most of the soups were over 19. You had to order rice separate which was equally expensive. The steamed rice was 1.00, but if you wanted any other tyoe, be prepared to pay. We decided it was cheaper to pay the extra for the seafood buffet across the hall and we left. We have never left a restaurant, but we did go across the hall and was very satisfied. Please note we are used to paying over 100 for our meals but this was way over priced.

Very Good Dim Sum

By james c |

One of the more authentic and good Chinese food experiences I've had outside of Chinatown. Dishes available that one doesn't normally see on an Americanized Chinese menu. Had a fried rice dish with some sort of seafood (it was 4 months ago, and I don't recall what). Good & plenty. Tried a few bites off the dim sum carts and wished I'd saved more room, because they were really good.

Authentic Dim Sum dining!

We weren't hungry enough for the buffet, so glad we spotted this restaurant. We are from Toronto and we have no shortage of authentic dim sum dining options. We were the only caucasian people in the restaurant; we thought that was a good sign. It turns out it was. The food was hot and fresh. There were many choices. Just be sure you understand dim sum dining; whatever you agree to put on your table is what you are eating. Be sure to pay attention and decline any dish you do not want, otherwise you will pay for it.

Good Dinner-Large Portions

By HNBISOFF |

KJ’s Kitchen dinner was very good. The portions were very large and enough to share. The service was excellent. We enjoyed a good meal moderately priced.

Used to be better

By gilbertc657 |

Been coming to KJ for dim sum for many years. One of the better ones in Vegas but has slipped slowly each time. Got there at 12:30 and wasn't very busy, which was surprising for Saturday.. I guess that's why many of the dishes were very soggy and way iverateamed. The Har Gao, many of the shrimp dim sums, and the fried tofu skins. The worse part about KJ is ordered about 9 right away for 4 people and the cart ladies keep coming ND asking if you want more. Point at table said already full, little later, 2 minutes later comes by and asked again. Not one but everyone of them. I understand it's their jobs but seriously??? Hit or miss more miss lately. Will try maybe one more time but getting annoyed at this place.

Late dinner at Rio

By Toshlovesbe |

Food was decent. I had the fried rice with beef (it tasted like Italian sausage not beef which was too odd for me). Hubs had a steak and egg plant clay pot dish that was pretty darn good. It was weird service because like three staff hovered over us at the beginning but when it came time to get a refill on water or our bill we waited a good 25 minutes and it wasn't that busy. Finally had to go up and request our bill. Extremely frustrating.

Good food very fresh

By Jeff N |

The service was top notch and food was amazing.! The wanton soup was best I ever had. The atmosphere was very comfortable.

Good Dim Sum

By Jim F |

I had dim sum for lunch three times while staying at the Rio and was very pleased. It's a good way to eat yourself silly for $15. The quality was good too. We live in Phoenix, which is a dim sum wasteland, so KJ was a pleasant surprise.

First time dining but not the last

By James M |

We visited KJ Dim Sum while on our stay at the Rio. We noticed on previous visits that they were always packed during the lunch hours so we decided to give it a try. Not knowing anything about Dim Sum we ventured into new territory and were pleasantly pleased. As each cart passed by you had the option to choose anything you desired. We had a table full of extrodinary food. So much to choose from each cart it's really hard to decide. They stamp a ticket on your table with each choice. All of our food including the hot tea was only $30 for both of us. We will definitely come back.

Poor

By Tim W |

We had great expectations here before we went to see penn and Teller The evening and meal was just so random and service was a weird as I’ve ever had Firstly . The waiter hardly spoke a word of English and didn’t understand anything we ordered from the menu directly We ordered soup , appetisers and main meals . But then they all came out together so we had a mountain of food going cold ? Why ? If they were going to serve food like this , they need to state it Lastly , it looked like the owner , manager took my beer and served it to one of the other diners on the table without checking . The quality of the food wasn’t the best either . The beef was like dog meat All in all . Rubbish

Amazing!!

Last day in Vegas. I love dim sum, and this definitely hit the spot. Had my favs, and some chicken feet, and dumplings BBQ pork buns and deserts yummy. I will come back here again next trip.

~~ Good Relaxing Dim Sum place ~~~

By toto l |

There is two hotel Dim Sum restaurant in the area , I choose the K J over the other restaurant over the road , because just a hop and jump from my room plus I have the hotel dining credit also my friend Ling's flavor place , located on the main hotel floor very spacious budget casual mordant Chinese restaurant , quality not superior , tasty but for value and not over crowed and it is nice place to relax for few hours , good for business meeting , staff very friendly and helpful , I love my chickens feet , nothing to complain , not pricy ! good lunch before I head up to the airport !

Surprisingly good!

By Aejaie |

I travel to Vegas for a couple of trade shows every year. The last couple of years we have been at the Rio. My friend who attends with me is a little pick, but will eat Chinese, so we typically eat here at least once a trip. The food is some of the best Chinese I've had. The menu is reasonably price for Vegas.

Terrible treatment

By Marie C |

Don't go to this restaurant unless you speak Chinese. We did not understand waiter, he did not understand us, we had a horrible meal...greasy lobster rolls, and an entree which was fatty, boney, and covered with a sickening sweet sauce. While we ate this slop, the table next to us, who were Chinese, had 4 waiters, and a table full of wonderful looking food. The only wait staff that understood us was Jenny, but that was after we ate, because I complained. Never again, and we go to the Rio Hotel a lot. Will eat somewhere else.

The worst service I had in my 27 meals in Vegas. I won't go again.

By Rand W |

The worst service in our 9 days trip in Vegas and the only restaurant we didn't give any tips. We arrived after 6 pm yesterday and placed orders at 6:10. After 30 minutes we asked a waitress about our food. She replied without looking at us that they were working on it. She then just went back to her working counter. How did she know if she didn't check with the kitchen? After another 10 minutes, we asked a waiter about the delay of our food. He rudely replied that he only took care of bills. I told him that we had been waiting for 40 minutes. He said that his shift started 40 minutes ago, we wouldn't possibly have been waiting for 40 minutes. I didn't understand his logic. His English was poor, so I spoke in Chinese to ask him to check with the kitchen. He rudely , reluctantly left, without acknowledging to our request, no response to us. No one tended us. When we just about to leave, one of our dishes arrived. Another dished came 5 mintes later. They obviously forgot our order. It wasn't the worst I am complaining about. The worst was, the service, the attitude of these 2 waiters, that they both were rude, no apology of the delay or explanation. We didn't have the minimum respect as a customer. Customer service is as important as the quality of food, especially in hotels. Missing out our order was one thing but this kind of attitude, the way they treated us was unforgivable. Be fair, in terms of the food, as a HK Chinese, I would say they were ok. The veg was way undercooked probably because they were rushing to serve after the delay. Yet, no matter how good the food was, it couldn't cheer me up from the frustrating and annoying situation. What a unpleasant experience! My advice: if you go, do expect to be neglected, to be ignored, to be untended.

'Old School' Average

By jarasta |

We are lucky enough to travel quite a bit and Dim Sum is something we seek out regularly. My spouse thinks this place is a little better than ok and I think it is a little less than ok. My title implies that the model of Dim Sum here is both predictable in its mediocrity and approach. It is like they are selling the base level of what is expected of an American Dim Sum restaurant. Bear in mind that I am not an aficionado of pork or shrimp so that a Dim Sum restaurant that rates four stars or more for me has a greater variety of samples than just the same old, same old...

Great Dim Sum

By prizby |

Always fresh and a very large selection. I'm so sorry I only get to visit once or twice a year. I always go back !

Go for the dim sum experience.

By Jody58703 |

My girlfriend and I went right before lunch when they started serving the dim sum, they go up and down between the tables with carts full of different varieties of dim sum , we also had the Mongolian beef and the chicken with broccoli, all w2as excellent.

Dim Sum More 🙌🏾

By TripMember07152021 |

Best Asian food I’ve had in Vegas. The portion sizes are phenomenal which makes the price WAY more palatable. Even if you don’t stay at the hotel, you should try it. I had the luxury of going back to my room upstairs after this awesome meal.

No Wait to be Seated For a Reason

By Lisa M |

Servers were attentive because there were only 5 tables occupied on a Sunday evening. Large menu selection with food quality being poor to average for price.

Decent Dim sum for an average price

By KevinLA310 |

I ate there while I stayed at the Rio. I enjoyed it. I've had better dim sum in my life but it wasnt bad. The price on the weekday I wa there was $2.18 for small, 3.18 for medium and around $4 for a large dish. I ate alone and wasnt too hunger but with one of each plus tea cost, I paid around $12 for everything. Not bad.

Lunch

By Keng L |

Had dim sum lunch. Food has gone downhill compared to last year. The dim sum dishes were off flavor or too sweet. The clear broth beef was tough and not much flavor. Service however was very good. Avoid.

Reasonably Priced Chinese

By ssful |

This is a reasonably priced place to eat. I ordered Sweet and Sour Pork and it could have easily have fed two. with one order of rice. It seemed they were doing most of there business as take out the service was a bit lax but acceptable

Open only 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. No room service.

By PSFLEXFF |

Price is average for Dim Sum. After 3 p.m., Chinese dinners only. You do need to know what you want. Servers roam around the room with dim sum. the baked bar-b-q pork buns are the best.

Dim sum

By Keng L |

One of the better places for dim sum in Vegas. Quite a large variety especially different types of buns. The chicken feet was very good. The clear broth beef brisket soup was a bit off flavor this timer though the brisket was good. Otherwise, dim sum has been consistent last two years. Service was good.

A sweet escape.

By Von D |

We went for dinner after reading mixed reviews. The restaurant is beautifully appointed with plenty of staff. Our waiter was polite but not attentive. The service was a bit hit and miss. The staff did not seem as interested in serving once your food was on the table. Our food was delicious in taste but small in serving size. The wine list was horrid. Not a single Cabernet Savignon, lots of Riesling. The whole place was a bit soulless and unloved. A few more smiles needed when dealing with customers. Great for families as it is a large area. However, the prices and serving sizes are not really good for family dining.

The best I Chinese meal I've ever had in Vegas!

By Wanda F |

So I don't eat dim sum (or know what it is really) but I love good Chinese food. My friends and I were looking for something different for an evening dinner than the usual steak, sandwich, burgers that the Rio offers so we decided to look at the menu for some chicken dishes. After being greeted very warmly, we were seated, given drinks and our order taken all in about 5 minutes. The food came out quickly, hot and customized exactly as we asked. It was delicious! We had sweet and sour chicken and another chicken dish, who's name escapes me, but was amazing. Each had very tender well cooked chicken in very different sauces and the portion sizes were generous. The fried rice was freshly made and a great accent to the entrees. Service was excellent. It's a casual restaurant but decorated nicely and not crowded. If you're looking for something different to eat at the Rio, stop by and try it out.

Fantastic Dim Sum reasonably priced!

By Maureen U |

Great selection of dim sum with service immediately after we sat down. The food was delicious, and our total bill came to only $43. Best deal for food in Vegas!

Amazing food!!! Best dim sum be ever had!!

By Tristan |

All of the food was amazing!! Service was fast, great large space and great staff!! My mouth waters thinking about not eating there again until our next trip!! You Have to come here!!! The roast beef and shu mai were out of this world!! The taro puffs and baked pork buns were on a whole other level!! Best Chinese food I’ve ever had and that is saying something, I’ve eaten a lot of really good Chinese food in the past! Will definitely be back multiple times on our next trip!! Ps it’s all super cheap for the quality!! Pro tip! You will want more once you leave, order enough for a second meal and take it home, you will thank yourself!!!

Good

By Agamemnon_87 |

Ate here while waiting for penn and teller at the Rio! It was quite good, a little greasy and quite pricey! $20 a dish and $14 for a side! I had the Mongolian beef with noodles and veg, my wife had the Cantonese steak with rice. They brought the rice literally as we were finishing our meal, so we hardly ate any but still paid for it! The bill was $80... it made a change from all the burgers and pancakes we've been eating

Good and also expensive

By Five_Aces_Tx |

I stopped by here and got some late night lo mein. It wasn't on the menu but the manager said they could make it so that was nice. However, it was $15 for a medium sized order. I would consider that to be high but I guess it's on par for most of Las Vegas. My go to place for Chinese food is Ping Pang Pong across the street and a similar entree is about $10 or $11. Anyway, it was good, the service was good and the atmosphere in the dining room was excellent! Lots of reds and dark woods the very large dining room. Very impressive.

Great for lunch

By mald03ives |

Visited on a lunchtime before an evening overnight flight back to the U.K. Restaurant was half full which is a sign that it’s good food. Dim Sum carts are brought to the tables but the full menu was also available. I opted to choose from the full menu and was pleasantly surprised at the portions. Main course was ok although the egg fried rice dish would easily have served 2 people. Service was fast, staff were attentive and helpful. A definite must visit again type of place

Average at best

By Frank R |

I thought this restaurant in the Rio hotel would've been something a little more than ordinary but it only just scraped an average in my opinion. The restaurant was fairly empty while others had queues forming at their doors so I guess I should've heed those warning signs. Food was ok but again nothing special, I ordered the spicy salted pork chop and mustard greens. Both were ok but not memorable.

Great shrimp! Great chicken chow mein

By Donedon |

Went here on a Saturday afternoon. Never tried a true dim sum restaurant, so I was unprepared for the carts that come around and serve small, hot dishes with a variety of cuisine. We ordered the siomai, which was good. The folks who pushed the carts around did not speak English very well, so I couldn't ask them what dishes they were pushing along. We asked for the regular menu, and I ordered the sweet and sour shrimp, while my wife ordered the chicken chow main. Both dishes were pretty large and absolutely delicious! Our server was super friendly and very attentive. They have TVs showing Asian programming and some sports. We spent 90 bucks there after the tip. It was a different dining experience, and I would definitely go back next time I'm at the Rio. I give it an A for service, an A for the food, a B for the atmosphere since it feels like a food hall, and a B for the price. It's not priced like your local neighborhood Chinese restaurant, but that ended up being a good thing.

Dinner at KJ's Kitchen

By JUDY R |

There were 13 of us eating Oriental dinner at around 5 pm here. The atmosphere was quiet and comfortable. There was a lazy susan in the middle of the table. When the server brought the food, he put the plates in the middle of that server for us to twirl around and then take our food. He had written down what each ordered, so I (& my friend next to me) thought that was a little strange since most weren't eating family style. All of the orders were individual except 2 people sharing 1 order. He had put the water glasses on that turntable and then there were 2 glasses not taken. I needed more water later, so poured some from 1 of those glasses into my glass. It was a feeling we really weren't getting the service we expected. The food was good and the amounts were big which is why 2 of us divided 1 order.

Not your average Chinese restaurant

By Steve S |

Looked for a dining experience out of the ordinary. This experience did not disappoint. The dishes may have had a traditional sounding name but the flavor was extraordinary. Iconic spot and very well worth it.

Super Food Here!

By Richard I |

Great Chinese Food and Dim Sum served all day long! This place has very tasty and authentic Chinese cuisine.

Lots of food

By 410brettb |

If you eats here, bring friends. There is so much food on the plate that to share it. We had 8 people one night and we only had to order 4 meals as that fed us all when shared. Very reasonable prices.

Not good

By steve t |

3rd time here only on a comp from Caesars. It was as bad as the couple times before. Food is blan. Service was poor. They even forgot to deliver an ordered dish, and gave some lame excuse. Being a local, there are so many better Asian dining choices than this joke of an Asian restaurant, in Vegas. I guess if you are stuck staying at the Rio, one might think this is a great dining experience. Just up the road is Vegas Chinatown, which has tastier food than this establishment. Wouldn't waste a penny of my own money on this restaurant.

Pedestrian fare

By Wonderer1961 |

Stopped in during quick trip to Vegas. Standard dim sum fare, pushed around on carts. Nothing exciting. Not as good as, say, San Francisco Chinatown, LA Chinatown, or Monterey Park. Having said that, this is among the top 4 dim sum places in Vegas. Located in the far west side of the Rio Hotel, across the breezeway from the big buffet. A big barn of a place, with high ceilings. Customers predominantly Asian, with a few haoles here and there.

not bad, but there are far better alternatives in Vegas

By Fred North N |

not bad, but there are far better alternatives in Vegas. One of which is Hong Kong Garden Seafood • Dim Sum Cafe at 5300 Spring Mountain Rd.

Rude service. Refused to cater to dietary needs.

By deadserious |

I would love to have something positive to say about the food here but I couldn't even try any. According to the waiter, every single thing on the menu has sugar and flour. I cannot have either. He refused to make something without sauce or allow any other special orders. Worst service I've ever had at a restaurant by far. They could not care less for their customers.

Disappointing food and service

By BillChuckS |

My wife wanted to try their Dim Sum and I planned to order a meal - but I generally must eat gluten free food. I can tolerate soy sauce (since the gluten has been fermented), so I tried to ask them what dishes they had that I could eat, including any dim sum that did not include breading or wheat flour. The dim sum servers didn't seem to understand what I was asking, so I asked our primary server about the main dishes. I was told that the vegetable fried rice was the only item I could eat! They really didn't seem to understand gluten and my questions about what was in the dishes. My wife had a few dim sum items. but it was not as good as dim sum she has had before. She also was disappointed. We also noticed that about 90% of the clientele appeared to be Chinese, and the servers did not speak English very clearly. This made it hard to select meals that we liked. They only serve dim sum for lunch and in the afternoon, although not clearly posted - we and others tried to first go for dim sum at dinner time but found out it was not being served. There are better restaurants at the Rio Casino.

Dim Sum only for the inexperienced

By travellingsix2013 |

European Friend, who never was in Dim Sum restaurant wanted to try. Setting is nice and clean, service very efficent and friendly (compared to typical fast-placed dim sum places in China). For those unfamiliar great experience with the carts going around where you can see the dim sum-dishes and choose. Unfortunately the quality of the dim sum cannot keep up: tastes and textures wer below average, questions about quality of raw materials. Even green vegetable was very tough. Reasonable price.

Some good, some not so good.

By N7247FCrobertt |

Dim Sum is average. Not sure if I got yesterday's leftovers, but, it wasn't fresh. The seafood pan fired noodles are good. The beef chow fun needs work.

Lunch at KJ's

By Annie A |

My husband and I had lunch here and we loved it! Never having eaten at a Dim Sum house we weren't quite sure how to order. The staff was extremely helpful with telling us how to do it. The food was delicious and you have to be careful that your eyes aren't bigger than your belly! It's very easy to think you don't have enough food on the table because the portions are small, but self control goes a long way. Everything was delicious!

Food bland and astoundlngly over-priced

By alexwolf2016 |

2/5 We had Peking Duck, Beef Chow Fun and Shrimp w/Cashews. The food was uninspired. Everything was bland. The place was on the level of your neighborhood Chinese restaurant, but with prices twice as high. Portions were very large, which is the only reason it gets good ratings. Service was good, but also disorganized.

very good Dim sum

By georgesZ7944BD |

They have a great number of carts rolling through to serve Dim Sum. lots of nice varity and good quality. I was presently surprised and it is worth the visit if you like Dim Sum.

By rascal222 |

Food was fresh, but uninspiring. Too few vegetables, just a lot of the noodles and rice. Tasty, but not what I expect from a good oriental restaurant. This is more like fast food.

Dim sum

By Keng L |

Last visit a few years back was not too good. Decided to visit again. Large variety of dim sum and small dishes. After 11 am, noodle dishes are available. Had several dim sum and rice noodles with beef brisket. The dim sum was generally good but several were a bit salty, the rice noodles included. Prices were reasonable and service very good.

Great food, great prices

By BobH835 |

Expansive variety and very inexpensive. There is no menu to speak of, the staff brings around carts of hot food and you can pick whatever you want, pick anything, it's all wonderful. However, you have no idea what you're paying for it as there is no menu. As each staff member gives you a dish they simply put a stamp on some kind of bill. At the conclusion of your feast a person picks up the bill, totals it and brings it back to you. My wife guessed $40, I figured $70, It's Vegas, right?, nothing's cheap. When presented with the bill we nearly fell out of our seats......$14, That not a typo, $14, This is the best deal for a great meal in Vegas and maybe anywhere.

Great Service and Tasty Food

By Glenn S |

We had a party of seven and the service as excellent. Food was served quickly and portions were very generous. Peking Duck was excellent. Waiter divided the check seven ways for us as well. Would go back to this place.

Delicious

By JasonCedarCity_UT |

My wife and I decided to give this place a try while staying at the Rio. We were quickly greeted and seated. Our server brought us our drinks and took the orders. The food came out freshly made and hot. Everything we ordered was delicious, with the pot stickers standing out as an amazing appetizer. I would recommend this place and will be going back.

Average dim sum, really good service

By simiseeu |

When I say average, it's really not meant to be an insult. The quality of the food is standard, which is pretty good to say the least. You get the 'usual suspects' in terms of what they offer when they bring the carts around. Just nothing out of the ordinary as far as variety goes, which is why I use the term average. If you like the standard faire that you get at other dim sum spots, then you will like KJ. It may be a tad pricier than the going dim sum spot, but not all that much so. I do think tho that their service is a cut above the others. While it wasn't packed, the restaurant was still busy nonetheless, yet it seems like the carts with their respective offerings were constantly approaching our table. Plus they were always there with refills of water and tea. I liked the promptness and attention of their service a lot, and that can make for a tie-breaker with other dim sum eateries vying for our business.

Excellent dim sum

By C H L |

Everything fresh and very tasty. Prices very reasonable especially in a hotel restaurant Great service and they are attentive to your needs Recommended

The worst meal I’ve ever eaten !!!!

By Vicki B |

Reading through some of these reviews I think it’s quite shocking that anyone has rated this restaurant as a 1* let alone a 5*. Quite possibly the worst meal I have ever attempted eat. I had spent the day looking for a decent Dim Sum restaurant so you can imagine our shock when we arrived to KJ Dim Sum to be told they do not have any!! The Chinese style food we ordered can only be described as processed, fake meat that looked like jelly. I wouldn’t even fed it to my dog. The thought of this food a week later is still making my stomach turn. Not only was the food bad but our debit card was debited for more than what showed on the receipt to us. Luckily this was picked up straight away by a message from our bank and we managed to cancel the transaction and pay cash. Such a bad experience for all 11 of us on our final night in Vegas. I would suggest finding an alternative restaurant or going hungry before considering this place ....

Decent traditional Chinese - fast food, slow service

By Shelliu |

If you want something quick but still a nice, sit down dinner (no buffet), KJ is a good option although par for Vegas, the prices are really high for what you get. The foot options are traditional (although very limited Szechuan dishes) and come out quick. The service was a little inattentive and scattered.

Good but no dim sum at dinner?!

By li_walk |

We did not have to wait and got seated right away (at 6:30pm on a Saturday). We were a little confused when we asked why dim sum was not on the menu & they said they only have it for lunch. Strange when the title of the place has the words dim sum in it!!! Regardless, the food was really good and fresh tasting. Service was good (though it feels like 4 people watch you while you eat)! Would have given it 4 stars had they had dim sum - which is why we went!

Gross

By Catherine C |

This was the worst Chinese we have ever had. The food was so salty it was inedible. We complained and all the did was take 10% off the bill and we walked out. Don't go !!

Total waste of $24.79

By Lisa T |

Stayed at the Rio. Off strip hotel. Decided chinese food was a good, quick idea. I was wrong! Totally disappointed. Was too tired to complain. Ordered pot stickers, white rice and what was supposed to be ribs. Was just cheap cut of pork steak smothered in yummy red sauce. So gross.

Excellent Chinese!

By Heather B |

We were at the Rio for a show, got there early, and decided to check out the buffet. The line was ridiculously long, but no wait to get into KJ, so we gave it a go. So glad we did! We began with pot stickers and lobster roll, both served hot and both delicious. My husband chose Chicken with Cashews and I had Shrimp with Black Bean Sauce. We also split a dish of fried rice. Every dish was so fresh and flavorful, it was obvious they were cooked to order with only top notch ingredients. Our server was so pleasant and helpful, too. If you like authentic Chinese, you won't be disappointed. Terrific!

Quicker than any Mexican restaurant I've ever been to

By ytram1949 |

The service is great very quick and responsive. However I don't know why I think this way but when you order something and it comes out in two minutes I question that. I ate there twice and each time the meals were OK not great but certainly not bad.

Great dim sum and reasonably priced!

By NoStopSigns |

My friend and I dine here twice during our 3-night stay in Vegas for a seminar. The dim sum was authentic, service was fast, food was hot, and selections were plentiful. A menu with additional entrees were also available to diners. One nicety was that there was no charge for the unlimited hot tea, which is unlike many dim sum establishments that I have had the pleasure to dine. Prices were very reasonably for a hotel-based restaurant on the Strip; each "dim sum" size selection ranged from $3.50- $4.75. We will definitely eat here again when we are in Vegas!

Very tasty but service was NOT even average!

By Ruthie03 |

Enjoyed the tasty food....Roast duck w. bao, sweet sour pork, chicken chow fun, fish and sizzling vegetables...all very good. Wait staff ignored us all evening and when we asked for anything it seemed like a "hassle" to them. Awful service!

This is the only restaurant at Rio worth eating in

By Ethel L |

There is a good selection of reasonably priced dim sum here. They are delicious. Because they are enticingly priced, you have to be careful not to order everything or it's no longer an inexpensive nosh.

Looked much better than it tasted

By georgeg844 |

The food looked amazing and the service was excellent. However, the dishes had problems. The scallops were overcooked, and as a result, a little chewy. the ship dish was way over salty. The only thing i could taste was salt, and this coming from a person that likes salt, and tend to over salt food. In general, this was OK, but not a place I would go back to again.

Visit the Other KJ Kitchen location

By 2Betravelin |

We had dim sum and several of the dishes were cold (when they should have been hot!) We had 10 people and the bill was over $100. We had to ask several times for Jook (rice porridge) and they kept saying it was coming around, but the cart did not make it around until we were almost done... the black bean Spareribs tasted funny and the dishes were over priced. The KJ KITCHEN on Spring Mountain was much better than this one inside the Rio.

Best Chinese I've ever had!

By travel2424 |

One of my favorite Chinese food dishes is sweet and sour chicken. At most restaurants that serve it, you get processed chicken and artificial tasting fake orange sauce. The sweet and sour chicken at KJ Dim Sum was amazing. Fresh ingredients and balanced flavors. Good value, too, for Las Vegas. Best I've ever had. So glad we chose it for dinner before the Penn & Teller show.

Good dim sum experience.

By unclees2018 |

First Dim sum experience fo me, so nothing to compare it to. But I do know food quality & it was good. Went with 2 friends on one's recommendation, Service was fast, a lot of options. We ordered maybe a dozen different items & I would say about only a couple were not fantastic. So good percentage. Dim sum fan now thanks to KJ's!

Popular with Oriental Guests

By Donald C |

They weren't very busy the night we ate there, but there were at least two dozen oriental guests dining there. Usually a good sign that the food is authentic. The prices were a bit high but we didn't leave hungry. The only standard fare we found on the menu was sweet and sour pork (which was outstanding!)

In a Word: Fresh

By Douglas D |

Our party of four enjoyed a family style medley of very tasty and fresh Chinese food in a kind of a blah, cafeteria type room. Although not specifically listed on the very extensive menu, we were able to improvise a shared dining experience by each of us ordering a specific dinner and passing it around - pork, beef, shrimp and chicken dishes. The staff was attentive and efficient. I rated this five points pretty much on the basis of the food taste and quality.

The Best Dim Sum I have in Vegas

By Anne L |

The service is great at least in the morning time. There are various kinda dim sum you can choose. The price is acceptable, and the food is more dedicated than other dim sum restaurant here.

Very good dim sum

By gilbertc657 |

Went back again, and this time was much much better than last. Was just opened at 11 and place was fairly busy. Almost all Chinese so can't be too bad. Everything was hot and fresh and service is very good. Chinese broccoli and special snow pea leaf was very good. Only bad part is the cart ladies gave such good service felt pushy. Had full table and they kept asking if you want anything even though we kept saying no... Otherwise 2 thumbs up.

Many Photos added. Located in the Rio Hotel & Casino

My wife and I dined here for dinner. We started with the Wor Wonton Soup. We also had two orders of the Mu Shu Chicken. The food and service were very good on this visit. I added many photos and will return again.

Great dim sum and service

By Alvina L |

Delicious dim sum and fast service . We ate pork buns, shrimp ha gao, tripe, and custard dan tats. These were as good as those I usually have at home in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California that has a high concentration of Chinese restaurants. There was already a line of people before opening. But once we were in and seated, the food came fast. I will need to return to this restaurant the next time I'm in Las Vegas

Good inexpensive restaurant

Friends suggested this place so we went together... It was quite good, very inexpensive, good portions..food is good..not tremendous but for the price is very worth it

Soo good! Attentive staff and service, fair prices

I love coming here when we go to Vegas. They seat us right away during dim sum hours, and the carts come fast. The hot tea service is great and the waiters are attentive even though I only speak English. The dim sum is authentic enough and very fresh. Prices are fair for Vegas and the Rio. Will keep coming back.

Great dinner

Food was very good. The steak with the pepper sauce was excellent. Shrimp were a good size and tasty. Affordable and good food with a great atmosphere makes KJS Kitchen was a true find. Will be returning.

Average for a Las Vegas casino Chinese restaurant

By Wildwooder |

Main dishes start in the high teens, so with tax, beverage, rice, and tip, a dinner for one person costs over twenty dollars. This is ridiculous high for the ordinary Chinese food that is served here.

Just no………

Made a reservation to have a nice meal before the Penn Teller show. I was interested in having dim sum…… after sitting down we were told that they only serve it in the morning. Our water was served to us in red solo cups… I looked around and the entire restaurant had their water served with red Solo cups. Odd! I ordered a Pinot Grigio, was given red wine and told that that’s what they had and the waiter walked away. I didn’t complain. I drank the wine. The food we had really lacked flavor…..Very Americanized for the masses. Our experience was disappointing, I would not recommend going, and I know that we won’t be back. I was kind of shocked that this was such a large restaurant in a pretty popular Vegas casino… Everything about it was third rate… I don’t get the appeal. After the show we went and split cheesesteak at Tony Luke’s….. and that was a nice way to end our evening.

Proper dim sum, cool place

Even though it is right on Paris resort, the place is kinda cool. The hostess super fun and kind. We enjoyed the dim sum in particular soup dumpling, yum.

Delicious Dim Sum at Excellent Prices!

By mjbbg572 |

I have walked by this restaurant inside the Rio Casino many times over the years but I have never given it try until this trip to Las Vegas. I had dim sum here two separate mornings. From the old school rolling carts, I had the Ha Gow, Sui Mai, Scallop Sui Mai, Chicken Feet, Steamed Ribs, Minced beef wrapped in Rice Noodles, Seafood Dumplings, Egg Custard, and Thousand Year egg with Congee.  Everything was delicious but both of the Sui Mai’s were excellent. It was some of the best Sui Mai that I have eaten. On the other hand, the shrimp in the Ha Gow was slightly mushy. The egg custards were fresh and warm.  Each trip I ordered six items and both times the bill was under $35. What an awesome value for such delicious dim sum. The service at KJ was better than most Asian restaurants that I have been to. I highly recommend going to the Rio to give this place a try. I will be back again the next I am in Las Vegas.

Crab

By katfish7752 |

I can't speak to the dim sum or buffet. I went there late night with a crab craving. The staff was very helpful & even brought out a whole crab so I could see what kind of crab it is, since they weren't sure what it's called in english. It was dungeness. I had the braised crab in garlic sauce and lobster rolls appetizer. The lobster rolls were lacking in lobster, just a few tiny pieces. The crab was amazing. The staff was very attentive throughout the meal, continually bringing new plates and more napkins and wet wipes. I'm sure my crab eating technique differed greatly from theirs and I hope they got a kick out of watch8ing me messily devour the dish.

Breakfast

By Luke T |

First morning in Vegas, figured a good breakfast to start out then day of shopping. What a waste of money. Bad food that was over priced. I remember when all the Casinos prided themselves on serving great food for a fair price. Guess those days a long gone. Do not waste ur time going here. IHOP is many times better and much cheaper, especially stay away from the Blueberry pancakes It is1 cake the size of a blanket with no flavour , and the eggs tasted like powdered eggs. My wife had the eggs Benedict and they had not flavour and were poorly cooked. Even the coffee was bitter.
