Who knew steaks could cost this much. I must say though, the food was great. I still think Peter Lugers in Brooklyn Ny is excellent. Service here was very nice. Dining here blew my mind we ate from 6:30pm until 9pm. Chef tasters special was a dining experience I'll never forget.

KR Steak Bar is a neighborhood staple in Buckhead. We have gone several times with friends, starting with a bottle of wine and then ordering (and sharing) several small plates. Always great staff, great atmosphere, and a nice evening!

UGH This is a hot restaurant in ATL and the place is bustling with trendy looking folks. A nice decor but frankly the place is noisy. Service was quite good and nothing to complain about. Our table started with an assortment of meat dishes, all unusual and for the most part quite good (mostly tapas size, starters). We decided to go for another round and unfortunately things slid quite a bit downhill. The short ribs sauce was just strange and didn't seem to match with the dish. The sardines were clearly not fresh and smelly & tasted fishy - I'm talking fishy in a not good way. Octopus lacked much imagination and this dish fell way short. Some grilled bacon was laden with fat and didn't elicit that taste of a crispy pork with flavor we were expecting. The 2nd route Throwing caution to the wind, we ordered an entire grilled chicken which was a bit tough n' stringy lacking of any real flavor except for some char points. For a highly touted restaurant, you expect nearly every dish to have something unique (at the min) and well executed (if you're lucky) so many of these missed - I'm afraid to say I wouldn't put this on my list for RETURN VISIT. UGH. Better choices in Atlanta, pretty people in the audience but stick to the bar and bar menu.

We went to celebrate a friend´s birthday and the place is really nice and well located. The service was great and the food was OK in general. In my opinion, it was a bit expensive for a steak restaurant that does not provide something outstanding that justifies that extra cost. In general a good ¨normal¨ experience.

Entertained a large group at KR two weeks ago. The restaurant has a very comfortable setting and great looking trendy bar in a neighborhood before you get into Buckhead. We started with appetizers for the table and my guests gobbled them up in a hurry. The menu had something for everyone's taste. The steaks were good and the side dishes of pasta were very good as well. The staff is very good and attentive. I am a big fan of Rathbun's other two Atlanta locations and i don't think the steaks are as good at KR as they are at the others.

We took some very good friends to a return visit to KR Steak Bar on Thursday night and we were wowed again! From the selection of meats and cheeses we enjoyed as an appetizer...to the Tonnarelli...to the Filet...to the incredible Shell Steak...everything was a winner. Its nice to know that we can return time and time again and receive a consistently great meal. If I lived in the Buckhead or Midtown area this would be one of our "go to" places on a weekly basis. If you haven't tried it yet you don;t know what you're missing!

Salty salty steak — so sad such a great cut of beef is ruined by being SO overly salted. I only ate a quarter and wish I could have sent back —- but time constraints with rest of my party prevented. Left hungry and unhappy. This Atlanta native will not return. And btw too noisy also, but a properly made steak would have obviated that.

We visited KR Steakbar for Buckhead restaurant week last night. I’ve never been so I was excited to go. It is located in an odd little neighborhood (quite nice) that I’ve never been to. You look like you are going through residential space and then all of a sudden you come up on it. It is easy to miss. We valeted, but I think they have self-service parking unfortunately there were no signs saying that so we just opted to valet. They were quite busy when we arrived early with reservations and we were told it would take a little while. We sat at the bar. The outside patio looked fantastic. It is a very nice dining option. I really liked how the place was decorated. It seemed modern and hip. We were seated a little past our reservation time, but nothing so long that it was annoying. Many folks talk about the noise and it is a little loud, but we had no problem having a conversation. Not the place if you are looking to have a quiet dinner though. The music seemed hip and it was not overly loud as I’ve read in some reviews. We were seated at a table and it was very comfortable. The service though out the night was good and what you would expect from a restaurant like this. Detail oriented and helpful. They brought out four slices of bread and oil. The bread was very good with a nice salting to it. The oil was just oil but it was good paired with the bread. For our appetizers on the tasting menu we went with the Carpaccio and the Arancini. We both agreed the Arancini was the better of the dishes though neither was bad. The Arancini were two large breaded balls that were delicious and the pasta sauce as very good. The Carpaccio was yummy as well though and if you are a fan of it I would not steer you away. We both had our hearts set on the Pappardelle Bolognese for the main course so we were a little boring and ordered the same thing. The good news was it was fantastic! The pappardelle noodles were really good. I tend to not be impressed by Italian because it all taste the same but I think I just need to try better restaurants because this was really good. The Bolognese sauce was very flavorful. No extra cheese or pepper etc needed it was flavored perfectly. By far the start of the night. For dessert I ordered the milk chocolate semi freddo and my date ordered the almond cake. We agreed we liked them both. The Rhubarb on the almond cake was a little odd. Not something I enjoyed and with the semi freddo I really enjoyed the rich caramel but the shortbread was limited. They were two very small rectangle pieces. I could have used two more small ones to enjoy it more. I did not leave hungry. Between all three courses I was full and not overstuffed. Kevin was there that night and was kind enough to stop by multiple tables and check in. He did not stop by ours but on the way out he was holding the door open and seemed very polite. I would not hesitate to go back and try other options on the main menu.

This restaurant is simply marvelous. The food is amazing, the service is great and the location is beautiful. I loved it! I have nothing to complain about this place.

Trendy restaurant with great food. A few minutes from Peachtree and valet parking. Food was great. Service was awesome ~~~ wait staff did not rush us as we wanted to have a leisurely dinner. Had charcuterie for an app -- fantastic with wine. Fabulous small plate pasta. Meat and fish dishes were great. Atmosphere was trendy. Kevin Rathbun was there and came to our table, which we really appreciated since we are ATL foodies.

We have been big fans of the original Rathbun's since it opened many years ago. KR Steak Bar is Chef Kevin Rathbun's newest venture, and he could be seen all over the dining room and kitchen when we dined on March 23, 2013. I think for good reason, as the place is just getting going and there is much left to do. We had eight different menu items, liked (not loved) four, didn't like the other four, including a tuna collar appetizer that was just a mess, with little meat, but nice toppings. Good tap beer selection. Pastry Chef and Co-Owner Kirk Parks was also there and indeed the desserts were great, as they always are. I'd say give this place some time to get settled in and then try it. If you must go now, my advice is first, do not let them oversell you on food. Three courses is plenty (app, entree, dessert). You can always add something. Also suggest stick to only the pastas and steaks for now as those were good. Finally, this place is beyond loud, so if conversation is what you want, this isn't the spot.

We wanted a special place to celebrate our eldest sons graduation from SCAD and had KR Steak Bar highly recommend to us. Boy ! We were not disappointed! Everyone made us feel instantly welcome and even fellow diners congratulated our son, who was still in his gowns. How good is that! Terrific location, fantastic food, great wine and above all exceptionally friendly & lovely staff. Farah at front of house was simply delightful throughout and Denis made our evening experience a great one to remember. As well seasoned travellers, experiences such as this are what we hope for and remain as precious memories for a long time. This was icing on the cake for me and my family at the end of a very special day. Shukran to Farah and top of the morning to Denis for his quality recommendations and a personal share of his home town, which will now be the next part of our journey tomorrow. Savannah here we come! Can’t wait. Don’t hesitate. Just book! It’s perfect! Thank you.

My expectations where high walking into KR Steak Bar. Well known Chef Kevin Rathbun would produce a great meal, one would think. Granted Rathbun himself was not there, one would expect his team would produce. In a group of 10 we ordered several dishes and spread them out so everyone could taste/sample everything. I would return for the mussels and their bread, everything else fell short. Undercooked pasta, burnt Brussels sprouts, slimy mushrooms, old grouper, steak so undercooked and full of fat that only an oz was edible. We also had a few other dishes, but they did not leave an everlasting impression, not did they fall short, but the impression of the kitchen was at this point poor. We did bring some attention to the staff about the dishes, and I would expect a manager to come out. However, no visit from a manager, but we did get the steak and the Brussels sprouts taken off the bill. Knowing that a manager needs to swipe for a Comp, one would think they would come out and have a chat with their guests to apologize and try to get you back. Sad to say that we will not be back.

My wife and I dined here with friends for a birthday party. We thoroughly enjoy Rathbun’s and had high hopes for KR Steak Bar. While the food was good, the portions were small, despite ordering several small plates. It was difficult to see inside the restaurant and while the atmosphere was interesting, it felt like they were trying too hard to be cool. Bottom line: definitely not a bad place, just not one of my favorites

Good food and drinks. Lots of options for starters, including bone marrow, which was excellent. I had scallops that were good. Several others had the chicken, that our server recommended, and they all thought it was excellent. Overall good meal.

If I could, I would give these guys 6 stars. Can't even begin to put in writing what an incredible dining experience this was. Jeremiah was our server and completely hit it out of the park from a service standpoint. The food was absolutely spot on and the spinalis steak....there are absolutely no words to describe this steak. Thank you to the whole staff for a perfect night.

I would probably have KR higher if I hadn't had such a good experience at Kevin Rathbun Steakhouse. The KR Steak Bar just wasn't close to the same level of service or food. I took my boss here expecting a similar experience and it just wasn't there. Objectively, this was still a solid choice but one that I would truly consider average for the price paid. The Kale salad was the best part of the meal. The shell steak was not very tender and the horseradish topping seemed to overwhelm the meat. Our server started off attentive and then seemed to forget about us midway through the meal. Like I said, I'm more critical than usual just because my expectations are very high for a Rathbun experience. Next time I'll go back to one of the Krog street restaurants.

My husband, son and I were eager to try this new Rathbun incarnation, so we made reservations for a Father's Day dinner. The food was good, but at the price for the small plate portions we felt that the concept was deceptive. Our waitress was adequate at best. The greatest disappointment was that she could have made our evening an experience to remember, and she did, but not in the right way. She lectured us about Italian courses and small plates, and didn't augment our enjoyment of the evening in any way. My son said she made him depressed. He especially appreciates Rathbun's Steak Restaurant, so he was unhappy with her lack of friendliness. The acoustics were awful. We had to repeat ourselves on some occasions several times just to communicate. We sampled a large selection from the menu and overall the food was fine. The fried chickpeas were bland and dry, but the lamb sausage and meatballs were flavorful. The entree portions were very similar to the appetizer portions but at an entree price. Unfortunately, one of the desserts had an 8-inch long hair in it, and I kept reliving pulling the hair out of my mouth several times on our hour drive home. The server did take the desserts off of our check at her suggestion. My husband spoke to the front desk upon our leaving, that our server was disappointing and that we wouldn't return. I'm sad that our restaurant experience was atypical of our past Rathbun meals. The ambiance was close, crowded, and loud. I hope that over time, they work out the kinks and adjust the prices to better fit the portions or the KR Steak (Italian) Bar might go the way of Gunter Seeger's restaurant.

This is another of the Rathbun restaurants and i have to confess to being a fan of both the Texas based and Georgia based brothers. It is an ordinary looking industrial style building in a quiet almost residential street off of the main Peachtree Road. We had reservations for four of us at 7.30 and were promptly seated at a nice table. Our server was attentive and informed but not pushy. We celebrated by ordering a variety of their signature cocktails and all were tasty. The menu is a mix of steaks and Italian dishes. Our variety of starters included Octopus, a smoked lettuce salad and delicate meatballs. Delicious! Three of us had steaks that were perfectly cooked and rubbed with interesting spices. The spaghetti and clams were cooked perfectly as well. If there was any criticism to be made I think I might suggest just a little lighter on the salt on some of the dishes. The wine list was very adequate and we enjoyed a great Cab with the meal. No deserts so no opinion. I definitely would go back, but it is more for special occasions if you are budget concious. We spent around $360 for the four of us including drinks tips and tax. This is not a super fancy restaurant but the food would be at home in one.

Had a wonderful meal at KR Steak Bar with another couple. We arrived a bit early for our reservation so I ordered a drink at the bar. The bartender was prompt and made one of the best old fashioned that I've ever had. The host accommodated our table request and gave us a great booth. Our server, Tom, was a professional, gave great service, and ensured that our meal was timed correctly. All courses were excellent, with one exception - the risotto ball appetizer didn't have much flavor. The risotto was almost undercooked, and I was expecting it to be a bit creamier. Maybe some more seasoning would do the trick. Otherwise, the artichoke appetizer was very unique, and my side of the table shared the 26oz porterhouse. The kitchen accommodated our request to have part of the steak cooked more than the other and it was a great steak. Nothing like dry-aging!

rathbun knows food. Got,off on wrong foot when sat initially as we had 5 people at a table. They put two tables together and sat one person on the crack amd the table was a bit uneven, the plate would have wobbled. We had them correct and they put a leaf in table. To be honest I felt that was a but sophomoric. Next the water is NOT filtered and the water is VERY chlorinated. So we ordered Pana which is excellent water. I mention this because filtering water is NOT that expensive and helps wine taste better than over chlorinated Atlantas best. Ok, now fort the meal. The food, service and wine assistance was SPOT ON AFTER A rocky start. Everything was absolutely amazing. Worth seeking out, notables: best of class bone marrow, Steaks and Pasta to die for.

....in a cozy ambience after starting with drinks at the bar. I booked the restaurant based on a tip by a friend who lived in Atlanta for 1 year. My clients and my team where super happy and it was definitely a great experience. We started with a Pasta, Squid and other small appetizers, as main court meat. Porterhouse for two, personally I ordered the rib eye and another guest a fillet. As dessert they served a collection of certain choices and as you can imagine - the wine we ordered was superb as well but not really cheap I have to say.....so be prepared for a nice bill :-)

I say off-beat because this restaurant is not down-town, mid-town, or Buckhead. Rather it is a little off the beaten path in Peachtree Hills. This was our second visit. After the first visit, I thought it was good, but I wasn't ready to fully endorse. Tonight, the food and service were both excellent. They are having "Guest Appreciation Week" with a reduced price menu ($35 for three course dinner), and I feared the quality might suffer. I was wrong and found just the opposite! I had the carpaccio first course (perfectly sliced and just the right seasoning to whet one's appetite), pork Milanese entree (you could cut it with a fork and the calabrese jam was amazing--they have to add this to the regular menu), and vanilla panna cotta with almond streusel and caramel sauce for dessert (excellent!). Our server was attentive in just the right way, which helped make the evening a great occasion. The ambiance is nice in that it provides a balance between being "vibrant," and yet you can carry on a conversation, which is just impossible at some of the "warehouse" restaurants in town. We will return!

Excellent restaurant offering an unusually interesting menu of small items and appetizers with main courses that are not huge. The beef is all from Allen Brothers in Chicago. The pasta is very good. The rib eye is like a thick filet at about 8 ounces. Very good. Deserts did not look that great. $20 per bottle corkage of bringing in your own wine Service was excellent Valet Parking Credit Cards: All Dress: smart casual Reservations: Suggested We will return

I recently had the pleasure of visiting KR Steak Bar and was I blown away. This gem of a restaurant is located in a secluded, residential area where wouldn’t expect it. I walked in and was greeted by the host and decided to sit at the bar since I only came for drinks. I was greeted by Nick and Rodney the bartenders, who welcomed me to the establishment and explained the cocktail menu and the dinner menu. The atmosphere is great, subtle noise of chatter from the filled dinning room and bar with social staff making sure that you are enjoying your experience to the upmost. I decided on vodka and pineapple and it was quick even for a crowded bar. Both bartenders worked in tandem and didn’t skip a beat. I was in such awe of the place, I immediately called two friends to join me. They both shared my sentiments with the restaurant. Absolutely amazing. Both Nick and Rodney listened to my guests in regards to what they preferred when having margaritas and they surprised them by making amazing cocktails that they are still raving about three days later. As I was enjoying my drink, the owner Kevin Rathbun was there and took the time to say hello and to see if I was having a good time, to which I replied of course. This is the type of things that will make me a regular. As I looked around, each plate that came out of the kitchen looked absolutely delicious and the plating was well done. Each guest which was a mixture of first timers and regulars loved their meals. There was not a frown in sight. My friends and I will definitely return for both dinner and drinks.

I really want to like this place, because it’s in the neighborhood and I’ve been a Kevin Rathbun fan in the past. But a Saturday Nite Solo visit confirmed AGAIN, my previous conclusions; the food here is just NOT very good. Sitting at the bar, always a preference here, I did receive excellent service. However, the Octopus app was not only minimal but appeared to have been prepared and plated hours ago. The Caesar was certainly acceptable and included the extra anchovies I order. The real fall-down was the filet. Bland, with little flavor not counting the Vidalia purée and looked more like 4 oz than the 6 oz specified on the menu. Wine? Good, but at buy-the-glass prices that are just STUPID! Additionally, don’t expect to have any meaningful conversation, as the noise level is HIGH. I’ve tried, but I just can’t go back here again, only to leave with such an unsatisfying experience.

It's a little noisy inside, drawing from it's minimalist decor - but with Great food and superb service, from parking valet to hostess to server - all excellent. I had the romaine salad with anchovies which was among the most delicious salads I have ever tasted. Risotto with lobster sauce and an off-menu steak special, suggested by our server, Shawn/Sean - I believe he called is Spellini - it's a cut from the outer ribeye. Like butter with a good solid sear on the outside. For dessert, the roasted banana cheesecake accompanied by a scoop of peanut gelato - beautiful presentation. We'll be back!!

Really nice restaurant- staff was wonderful and steaks were outstanding. Some folks love the noise level and atmosphere it provides, good to be aware. Just know that going in and you will have a great meal.

This was the place for a work holiday dinner. Chose it for the varied menu, not just steakhouse fare. Our server was very good, he gave us good suggestions. The burrata was a great appetizer suggestion. The meatball appetizer was OK, but didn't touch the burrata. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, mine was the Spinalis, a special cut of ribeye steak. It was good, though not sure it was $60 good. Others had scallops and filet. All were quite please with their dinner. Tried a variety of the desserts - all very good. This is definitely a place I would go back to.

KR Steakbar has a lovely patio where you can have drinks or dinner. We chose to have a few drinks before dinner. The indoor restaurant is very loud. The service was very spotty and very hard to get the waiters attention. My family was fabulous. The homemade pasta delicious. The sorbets for dessert were not my favorite since they had too much sugar.

I went to KR Steak Bar at the recommendation of my future sister-in-law. I took her, her two grown sons and my fiancee for dinner. Having eaten at Rathbun's we thought we were in for a similar experience. The service was great but was the atmosphere was a bit pretentious with the feeling that you are going to pay for the privilege to sit there and eat very small portions of expensive food. The food was good but served in very small portions designed to make the patron purchase multiple small plates to add to the overall food bill. I ordered a scotch on the rocks and was served an exact shot, much like at the airport with the electric pourers. The drink was watery and a second drink was just as bad. This seems to be a trend in dining where the experience is now the bragging rights of of spending so much money on a snack.

Located in the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center, KR Steak Bar is a welcomed addition to the Garden Hills / Peachtree Hills area of Atlanta. As soon as you ascend the steps towards the restaurants you can see all of the inner workings of the kitchen and dining room. A team of chefs are proudly on display, working their magic with foods like oxtail, beef cheeks, sweetbreads and octopus. The bar was packed, but after hovering for about 15 minutes we snagged two seats at the bar and enjoyed a Negroni and a Toronto cocktail, which were both very good. Trey, the bartender, recommended the Harbison cheese and wild boar sausage appetizers. He described the cheese as wet and cavey … wet, cavey cheese … hmmm, ok, sure, why not! The apps were brought out quickly and the cheese was in fact, cavey and gooey and awesome. The wild boar sausage was light and a little funky, but not gamey at all. The meats are specially made for KRSB by TheSpotted Trotter. Next we tried the artichokes and octopus. I could have eaten a platter of those artichokes. They were served with crispy fried lemon chips that were amazing. My tummy is growling just thinking about it. The octopus was also very good, but I still think Kyma has the best octopus in town (sorry, KR Steak Bar, just my preference). Finally we had the Papparedelle with Bolognese sauce. If you have ever had Bolognese sauce in Italy, you are forever spoiled, and you know how difficult it can be to find real, authentic Bolognese sauce in the states. This was pretty damn close to the real thing. Not tomato-ey at all, just creamy and delicious. ig, comfy leather chairs around the bar, and roll garage doors that when opened in spring will be the setting for many cocktails, artichokes, pasta and yes, wet, cavey cheese.

We enjoyed everything. Our server was nice and fun. Lovely design and good food. There were 5 of us. We plan to go back soon.

The restaurant is much prettier on the inside than outside. It is owned by the Rathburn group. A wonderful menu that is a combination of primarily meat and pasta. We started with the pappardelle, pork & beef ragu - their version of bolognese with home made noodles. Also Romaine salad-egg yolk, anchovy, parmesan, croutons . Both were exceptional. The entrees were a 6 oz Filet of beef- smoked vidalia onion & fried vidalia , and the veal Milanese- puttanesca, burrata, arugula , again delicious. The wine selection is very good and overpriced. For dessert we shared the strawberry cake, very good. After dinner we went to the Speakeasy behind the kitchen for some drinks and relaxation.

This is a stylish restaurant, situated next to Atlanta's ADAC design center. The decor is hip and inviting, and the staff was kind and accommodating. We ordered the romaine salad, which was superb - more than enough to share. We each ordered the filet, and shared Brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes as sides. While the quality of all was wonderful, there was one overriding, oppressive presence: salt! And make no mistake - we are not ones to object to a healthy amount of seasoning. But this was over the top. We reached, time after time, for our water glasses rather than for our wine glasses - just to quench the sodium. Hopefully we just caught a night with a heavy handed chef. I very much want to like this restaurant, but for now I can only recommend it half-heartedly.

Went for a business dinner and had a throughout fantastic experience. Food was great (try the buffalo mozzarella!) and service perfect. Will be back!

I love visiting when we can't decide between steak and pasta. You get both here. It is very good. I love their wine list. We've never had a meal we didn't love. I've been meaning to try their outdoor area and grab a casual burger. Our bill can easily be in the $200 for 2 so we don't go as often as I'd like.

Crowded Friday night, but had reservations and only waited a few minutes for our table for four. Excellent drinks and our meals were delicious—- from the steaks to the scallops. I would suggest making reservations during the week — on off hours; otherwise the noise level is off the charts—- however the food and service is stellar.

Fritto misto is the best I've ever had. The pasta is all special. The outdoor terrace is outstanding. Ambience - great. It's just too damn expensive. Plan on $75 per person or be prepared to leave after appetizers.

This restaurant has incredible ambiance that sets the mood for friends, family or business. The menu has just the right amount of items without overwhelming you with choices. Everything we ate was spectacular in taste and presentation. Chef Chad is an amazing cook and my husband and I will not hesitate to eat here agin the next time we are in Atlanta!

Very interesting menu. Everything we ordered was quite tasty. Small portions. Great looking deck and dining room. Nice, but very pricey wine list. Little option for inexpensive bottles. Wait staff is a little preachy on how to order and what to order. Results were quite good nonetheless.

Sat at the bar for dinner and had great food and service. The 3 guys working the bar Saturday night are true pro's when it comes to service and friendliness. The food was great, filet cooked just as ordered, fresh pasta and the carpaccio were both perfect. A little off the beaten path in Buckhead ( from hotel row ) but worth the drive. If I lived in the hood it would be one of our go to spots. Well done by all !

I was here with a few friends a week or two ago. This place is NOT a steakhouse! It's mostly Italian pasta dishes and appetizers with few choices of steak on menu. With that said, it's too loud to be a "fine dining" restaurant. It's definitely not friendly for older customers and children, so not family friendly. I mean, there are loud drunken people around for Christ's sake! "Somewhat" accommodating hostesses (the one checking us in was extremely vague regarding our waiting time) and our server barely had any wine knowledge. With the price I am paying for the food, I expected everything to be more...sophisticated? I recommend this place to anyone who can stand very loud noise levels when they eat. P.S. If anyone is dying for delicious Italian food without the noise level and inappropriate music, I recommend Sotto Sotto in the Virginia Highlands.

KR Steakbar is located "off the beaten path", and now that I have experienced the wonderful food and service, it is totally appropriate. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is fun. I took some clients and we allowed the chief to prepare what he desired for us. There was so much food; but I enjoyed the meatball and burrata appetizers, the risotto and pappardelle for pasta, and the shell steak and scallops. I have never eaten brussel sprouts, but would go back to KR just for them. The clients I took have increased business with me by 15% since dinner. Thank you staff of KR Steakbar.

I've dined in some of the best restaurants around the world. KR Steakbar has to be among them. The service was impeccable, from the moment we checked in with the hostess to our after-meal tour of the "speakeasy" by our waiter. And the food. Oh, what a lovely meal. Every bite seemed to be planned to be just as exquisite in taste as it appeared on the plate. There were no disappointments. Yes, the price is on the high side, but it is worth it.

Five of us ate here to celebrate a birthday. We started by sharing small plates of pasta and cheese. Both were very good. The bread and olive oil were also good. I had fish, which I enjoyed. Others had various dishes including steak and chicken. All said their meals were good. They were out of the wine I ordered and did not have very good suggestions, so we looked at the wine list and ordered another wine. Overall as good meal in a nice restaurant.

We had a great couples dinner at KR Steak Bar. The ambience is great. We sat in the back which is only open on weekends. It has a fun vibe. We had the Octopus, Pork Belly, and Heirloom Tomato salad for first courses. All were amazing! For entrees we had steaks and scallops. Again all delicious. For dessert we had the chocolate terrine which was to die for and the cheesecake. The service was attentive and our waitress made great recommendations. We will definitely be back!

We went for our Anniversary and had the Chef's menu. Our server Tom and everyone else we came into contact with were fantastic! they now have a room called the bureau which was really beautiful and a little more quiet. It can be rented out so it is not always open. The chicken was amazing, filet was fantastic, brussel sprouts, artichokes, tuna, the dessert - all of it was amazing.

This is my second visit to KR after a recommendation from the hotel concierge. It is quietly tucked away in a neighborhood. Very cozy and romantic. The decor and the lighting made for a very relaxing evening. Our server recommended the meatballs and boy was he on point. They had a smoky taste and covered in a white ( not red) sauce and parmesan cheese. ( I'm blushing now) These are a must!! He also recommended the brussel Sprouts ( and I hate brussel sprouts) but these I loved. I order the half chicken on the 1st visit which was wonderful but a hefty portion. 2nd visit, ordered the Garganelli which was excellent!! I do not prefer spicy dishes but the jalapeno in this dish just gave a hint of spice. Never made it to dessert yet but it's on my to do list. Maybe the 3rd time will be a charm and I know I won't be dissapointed. As far as service, both the server and the maitre' D remembered us and the dishes we ordered from our 1st visit which was a month prior. I am a former customer service professional so I was VERY impressed by their attentiveness. I don't know if there is a such thing as a restaurant crush but KR Steak Bar has my love.

Service and food were excellent. Brussels sprouts and fried artichoke heart were favorites. Going back this Friday! Can't wait!

I do love many of Kevin Rathbun's dishes and there are some great ones on the menu of this tapa-ish new addition to Peachtree Hills. The outside seating area is nice in the fall (except ditch the kerosene torches -- the smoke interferes with enjoyment of the food). Rathbun does like the saltshaker and it made a couple of our dishes unpleasant after the first or second bite. Service and wine list were excellent.

I have read many mixed reviews about this place but my experience was excellent with few flaws. I went with a friend on a Tuesday night late and it was not crowded or loud. We were greeted by our server Nic who was friendly and informative but also not intrusive. Great server. We started with a few cocktails and ordered the bone marrrow and grilled octopus. Both were delicious. Of course, you wind up with small portions, so it's a treat, a delicacy. We then shared a romaine salad. This was surprisingly the best tasting Caesar type salad I can remember having. Nic suggested some wine and it was delicious and not overly priced to go with our next course which was a shared 20 oz Ribeye. It was cooked to perfection! I have read other reports of grizzle and there was a tiny bit, but not enough to be a problem. Gelato was a perfect ending and I walked out happy. This is not an inexpensive restaurant by any means but there are times you need to treat yourself. I will certainly go back!

Went here on a Thursday evening after event at ADAC - it is right next door. Valet parked, very comfortable atmosphere, nice waiter. We each had the filet with potatoes & rapini (green veggie like broccoli raab), nice wine. Everything was very tasty & I would go back again.

The steak is what you'd expect from a Kevin Rathbun place, but its all the other stuff that makes KR. the service (usually), the starters, the pasta, and the vegetables are all first rate, but what I like best is the scale of the place. Its like a neighborhood bar with the best steak that's not at Bone's.

We had a chance to visit and dine at KR’s for the first time last Friday night. The experience was very nice. It is easy to find, the parking is a little funky because it is nested in a unique area. However, the parking was readily available on the street. We had reservations and were immediately seated. Our waiter was Jason, who has been there for over 18 months and was gifted in his knowledge of the cocktails, wine and the menu. We tried a cocktail and a great bottle of wine. The four of us tried a few starters which included the meatballs, octopus and burrata. The octopus was the best I have ever tried. The main course was a selection of hanger steak, ribeye steak and pappardelle pasta. I would of given KR’s five stars but the restaurant is noisy. It was difficult to have a discussion. Also, I found the prices a little high. We will return.

Dinner at KR Steak Bar was a great end to a long training day with co-workers. I've eaten at the Rathbun restaurant on Krog St. in the past and thought the food was really good. This location has a different vibe, more contemporary feel. The food was excellent. The sides were served family style, we had everything from spinach pasta, lasagna to octopus and fried lobster. We each had our choice of steak, salmon or chicken. I chose the filet it was wonderful. Although everyone said their choices were great as well. The wine was paired with the meal. Wait staff was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the foods, wine choices. I would recommend this restaurant and plan on returning with my husband for our next nice dinner outing.

won't go back...ok only, but not worth the toll...food just as good at lower end restaurants...yuppie cliental...$7 Publix wine priced at $44...frlt ripped off

This was my second visit, and I am a fan of the original Rathbun's Steak House on the Beltway/Krog St. Both times at KR Steak ordered the 10 oz rib eye and the cuts were very inferior; lots of gristle and large fatty tissue, not just marbled. Second visit this was true of both my and my guest's steaks. Both times the servers were made aware but simply said they were sorry, no offer to rectify. Also had difficulty cooking to my temp, medium, as if the kitchen resisted my preference instead of med rare. Who knows. Pasta first course ordered both times (hand-made pasta in house?), and the pasta was actually chewy and tough, not just "al dente". Can't figure that one out. Another interesting experience, there are two Amarone's on the wine list, one at just over $100 and one around $400. I ordered the less expensive one but did NOT pay close enough attention to the label when the wine was delivered and got a shock when the check came and was charged for the $400 one. Again, pointed this out to the server who said "sorry" and just walked away. I paid for it. Server's attitude had a bit to do with our disappointment. I think someone needs to mind the store at KR Steak Bar.

The other Rathbun locations are not particularly convenient for those of us in the northern parts of Atlanta, so his location on Peachtree Hills Avenue was a real blessing. The other "steak houses" tend to be overly populated by tourists/conventioneers, but the KR Steakbar feels like a neighborhood place. Food is good, well prepared and professionally served. The prices are well within reason for what it is. Well located between Peachtree and Piedmont roads.

Came here on business. Sides were great, but my steak was significantly over cooked. I expect more from such a nice place.

Good food, although everything we ordered was a bit too salty, better service.... Food is priced reasonably, BUT wine is priced out of site. When I see a Malbec priced st $40 per glass... it’s a turn off for me. Not sure I’ll go back, but if I do, I’ll ask about items that aren’t highly seasoned.

Quite a nice Italian Steakhouse in a residential neighborhood in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. This was our first visit. However, it won't be the last. Small plates led to the entrees. The double cut lamb chops were exquisite, the sauce sublime and the portion enough for two as we over ordered the appetizers. My wife had four lovely scallops with buttermilk, parsley and pistachio. The 8 oz filet was served with wild onion and roasted garlic. We also had artichokes with dill and pangrattato, lovely meatballs, and olives, Tonnarelli with pecorino and black pepper. We were too full for desert. We dined in a private dining room behind the main dining room. It has a bar and three banquettes and maybe a table or two. It was great to carry on conversation with dinner. There is a patio area that is quite nice for cocktails.

From the minute we walked in the door, we were impressed! Beautiful chic restaurant! It is an open floor plan so it can get a little noisy. The bartender, Nick, had the assignment of "make us something with bourbon". His expertise made us a fabulous drink! Our waiter, Jason, was superb! His recommendations were the best. We had filets and ribeyes with asparagus and fried onions as the sides. We also ordered pappardelle pasta. The pairing of the steak with the pasta was amazing!! I highly recommend this restaurant and I can't wait to go back!

We went to KR on the recommendation of a friend. We are early diners so when we arrived it was very low key and quiet. Took a seat at the bar and moved on to a booth for diner. Everything on the menu sounded good so we decided to do the chef picks which was a good decision. It is a 5 course selection made by the chef and is a variety of their best dishes. All dishes were excellent and timed perfectly. The crowd was picking up and it was a very good vibe. We've been to a couple of other Kevin Rathbun restaurants and always been pleased. We'll definitely be going back. Food, atmosphere and service was excellent. By selecting the chef picks, we now know what we'll have next time!

First visit to K&R and will not be the last. From the service to the quality of the food, everything was phenomenal. The wine list also offers some excellent choices at multiple price points. The grilled octopus appetizer is excellent.

A really nice atmosphere for business, couples or a special event. The food is excellent, consistent and well prepared. The service has also been good each time I have visited. The staff has been helpful and friendly. I'm looking forward to my next visit to KR.

Was hoping for a great new restaurant in Peachtree Hills. Unfortunately was disappointed. Maybe, maybe it was opening week jitters and working out the kinks. The hostess staff was surprisingly rude - so much so maybe they are going for the uppity/pretentious feel to the place? I was looking for a upscale neighborhood friendly eatery. Kevin R was there in the kitchen as well but I never saw him say a single word to a guest as he came and went. Some of the food was excellent, some was just good Our waitress was outstanding however. Maybe I wait a month and try again..?

Here on business and seemed out this place due to recommendations. Ate at the bar, which was great, but amazing tables as well. Solid, modern place. Great menu and selection. Had the tagliatelle pasta (soon good) and Black and Blue 20oz Rib Eye which was solid. Highlight of the meal was the Mollydooker Boxer wine. Sooooooo good with the steak and pasta! Ask for the "shake" on the wine...it helps. Great presentation and service. Fun staff and very on their game! I'll be back!

We had heard great things, so went for dinner. Apps were good - the burrata was so creamy and delicious and the blood orange mignonette on the oysters was the best part of the evening. After that, the meal spiraled down. We ordered several pastas to share. The risotto was so salty that we had to send it back. The tortellini was undercooked and the spaghetti nero, which was described as “spicy/has a good kick” was so bland that the only flavor was the crab. We heard the line say they wanted to taste every pasta dish coming out of the kitchen and saw at least one or two others sent back. Our server was quite scarce and didn’t offer to get another drink until much after our glasses were empty. It was clear from the amount of food left on our plates that the meal was less than desirable. He didn’t offer hardly any apology or compensation for the sodium-filled risotto. Overall, greatly underwhelmed for a menu that has so much potential. Have been to Rathbuns before and hoped this would be a similar amazing experience. Was definitely not and will not return.

Finally made it over to KR Steak Bar, and wish I had gone sooner! Restaurant decor was beautiful, as was the bar. Drinks made very well, martini's with ice crystals they were so cold. Appetizers were wonderful. Our four top shared the steak for two and halibut, perfect size to fill us up. Our waiter was wonderful and very attentive. Another home run for the Rathbun team!

As part of the Kevin Rathbun family of restaurants I expected the restaurant to be good, but it exceeded my expectations. The spinalis cut (end cap of the ribeye) is my personal favorite but you really can't go wrong with any dish here. Even the seafood dishes are top notch. This is now in our regular rotation of restaurants...........

We had 6:45 pm reservations on a Saturday. We were seated promptly. Our waiter did an excellent job guiding us through the menu and assisting us in ordering. The portions are small so we ordered 3 appetizers, 2 pastas and each of us ordered a steak. It was barely enough food for our party of 4; definitely we could have handled another dish or two because the portions are that small. Everything was delicious. The only real complaint over the food was my husband's shell steak. He ordered it medium rare and it was closer to rare. We all agreed that the ribeye was better than the shell steak which had received rave reviews from the AJC food writer. We all had room for dessert. There was a delay in getting our desserts brought out and the waiter came back and told us they were comped but honestly, we didn't notice that there was a long delay.

A brief stop for cocktail before a wedding turned into a wonderful experience and another visit very soon. Great cocktails, pleasant efficient service and several starters that stole our hearts and stomachs . We done KR Steakbar. We will see you again soon

A group of eleven of us enjoyed a "big gay equality celebration" at KR Steakbar last night: four married couples, one single, and two singles without their boyfriends. Taking care of such a large group might have struck fear in the hearts of many servers, but our intrepid server, Justin, handled it with aplomb. So much has already been written about the food by others, but I must say the scallops I had were truly the best I've ever enjoyed. Flavors of sage married beautifully with the five perfectly caramelized scallops, and the crispy bacon and polenta were delicious! My husband's swordfish was equally delicious (of course I tried it). I loved the "Peahi Punch" cocktail I ordered as well. As I mentioned, service was exceptional. Although two of our party received their steaks undercooked for their taste, their concerns were met with professionalism and their steaks were quickly corrected. All in all, the evening was exceptional. Though quite (read: VERY) pricey, my husband and I agreed the quality of food and service we're well worth it.

We have been here a few times. You never know if it is going to be good or bad! Thursday night we decided to go with friends to give it one more try. Believe me we won't be back. First of all we should have put up a red flag as soon as we walked in after 8 PM and the restaurant was empty. It used to be very difficult to get a reservation here. Our food was barely edible. The oysters tasted like they had been in the cooler and on the plate for hours. The artichoke was fried with no taste at all, pretty gross actually. The pasta that our friends had was the best of all entrees and that was just above passable. We did not have desert as we just wanted to leave and not come back, EVER! They were out of several different wines which is odd. We should have known then the evening would continue to go down hill. The highlight of the evening was our server. He was very sweet and friendly and we enjoyed talking to him. I hope he moves on to a better restaurant as it appears this one is on the brink of closing! I am wondering if Kevin Rathbun is even involved in this place any longer? With all of the restaurants in Atlanta I would recommend to stay away!

Very interesting and tasty Italian small plates and other dishes. Didn't try the steaks, but the Milanese pork was phenomenal as were the Brussels sprouts and pumpkin fritters. Also a great Italian wine list. Trendy atmosphere but bring your reading glasses for the menus.

Dinner for two on a Friday night. Both ordered the 6-ounch filet. The quality of the meat was outstanding and each steak was cooked as ordered: medium for me and medium rare for my wife. However, there was far too much salt on the steaks which somewhat masked the excellent flavor of the meat. Previous reviewers have noted the dining space can be very noisy, making conversation difficult. If you want to be able to talk, go very early. After the place starts to fill up around 6:30 or 7, conversation becomes very difficult. Prices are a bit on the high side for Atlanta.

Great food! Great service! Great vibes! The portions were perfect. The menu has a variety of dishes. Lots of interesting choices. Delish!

A group of us met there for a birthday party. Weather was beautiful outside, selections were unique (for those who like the unexpected) and tasted pretty good. The price was high and the portions small - even for a chi-chi restaurant. Worth a try but you'll be better off driving down the street tobPaul's.

OK, my first review of KR wasn't the best, although I did enjoy it. I decided to go back and take my partner for his birthday. This visit could not have been better. First of all, service was awesome. Ben, our server, was great. He explained each item that we had questions about and even sent a sample of an item I inquired about. Chris McDade, the executive chef, brought the taste over to us and explained the item so well. Chris was a pleasure to talk to. We ordered a lot of food, knowing we would take some home. I think we had almost every pasta they had and it was absolutely delicious. Our favorites were the pappardelle and the tagliatelle nero. Absolutley amazing!!! We also had the cavatelli and the oricchiette. Both so good. The chopped steak...wow! We also enjoyed the spinach salad and several of the cheeses and meats. We ended with the olive oil cake and the ricotta cake and we could not have enjoyed a dessert more. This visit was so much better than the last. Ben told us they changed some things and not sure what, but definitely for the better. Maybe noisy, but we didn't notice. Plates really are not that small as we took alot of food home with us. As for service, again Ben was awesome(request him). The day after our meal , we recieved a call from KR making sure we enjoyed the meal and they were happy that we dined with them. We will absolutely return many times....

This is Rathbun's hit new restaurant in Peachtree Hills.. The menu showcases a variety of small plates in categories including freshly made salami, appetizers, sides, pastas, salads and mains. Obviously the name implies beef, so there are not many non beef choices. Of the two fish choices, I chose the tilefish. Not much flavor in the fish, but the broth was a light Thai-like broth without the sweetness. We all chose something different and shared. The bay scallops appetizer was served with beets and were so small it didn't provide mucht for one person, so not a good choice for sharing. The perfectly fried artichokes with lemon, however, were outstanding and a perfect sharing plate! The service was very good. The one drawback, and this could be a deal breaker until they find a solution: it is too loud to hold a conversation with your dinner companion(s). We even spoke to the very courteous manager about it. When we left to the quiet off the parking area our ears were still ringing! This will get sorted out, so don't let this keep you from trying KR Steak Bar.

Make no mistake - the food here is excellent. We went with a party of eight, with a variety of selections, and everyone agreed. However, these are small plates. KR Steak Bar does not want to call them tapas, but they are. The menu is also very different and is grouped so that three categories are small plates, another is pasta, and yet another is steak or fish. There are not salads or vegetable selections in the traditional sense. So if you can handle these quirks, and the deafening noise, your taste buds will be in for a real treat. We shared the yakatori meatballs and cheese risotto (formed in balls) and enjoyed both. Then we shared the pappardelle pasta which was out of this world. We each had a steak, each being 5-6 ounces, which honestly melted in our mouths. My wife had the ribeye - crafted more like a filet mignon and tasting even better. I had the shell steak - actually a New York strip, also shaped like a filet and served with grated fresh horseradish. We did not have dessert, but our friends enjoyed theirs. KR Steak Bar, which promotes itself as Italian cuisine, is not for everyone. I do not regret dining here, but probably will not return. There are too many negatives, in spite of the excellent food.

I came here on a date and we got the chef's menu (like several reviewers on here recommend.) It was an excellent meal. The service was excellent, and when the meal was over we went to the piano lounge in the back. Very neat experience, go try this place for yourself!

FIrst, service was very good. Here’s my review: ordered the porterhouse for 2. I have had porterhouse in many fine steakhouses. If you’re going to put a marinade on it, put it on the menu or tell me when I”m ordering. I was disappointed when the steak showed up, and even more so eating it. So ask before you order. We had the potato cacio e pepe. All in all, just okay. As in the title, was hoping for more.

The restaurant decor is nice; plainly simple. The food was average and priced on that scale however the portions are very, VERY small. Do not go here if you are hungry.

Celebrated our daughter's birthday at KR SteakBar and was amazed by the entire experience! Not just steak-entrees included numerous other choices, veal, pork, chicken, seafood, pastas. There is definitely an Italian influence and the food was wonderful! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable! Hope we visit Atlanta often so we can return for another special meal! Wine list is exceptional ! Highly recommended!!

It's a Rathbun's restaurant - you can't go wrong. KR is a different vibe than some of the other Rathbun sites. It is Italian-y, steak-y, casually elegant and has a terrific speak-easy back room that is wonderful for dinner or a party. We had dinner a few months back and the ambience and food were so outstanding, we booked the back room for our son's wedding rehearsal dinner. We hosted 50 guests - mostly from out of town - and everyone had an amazing time! Perfect service, amazing food and a great vibe. Love the food. It isn't cheap, but worth it. Service was superior the times I've visited. I'll be back - again and again.

This is a really beautiful restaurant in the Lindbergh area (well ok; call it South Buckhead if you must). We have been to Krog Bar, Rathbun's and Steak; and loved them all. This restaurant is has a more intimate feel with and focuses on smaller plates. My husband had a whole grilled fish that was by far one of the best I've even tasted. The waiter suggested the hangar steak for me. I enjoyed it but it was not the best I've ever had. All of the sides were standouts, the corn, asparagus and the potatoes. If you are a fan of KR's style. This place will not disappoint. One tip for women. The outdoor seating is really gorgeous but if you are wearing heels; you'll want to skip it as the flooring outside is composed of large-type gravel. Also if you have foliage type allergies please note that the outdoor space is covered by a large tree canopy. I'm sure the area is treated for insects but this is Atlanta; there's no way around getting bitten if you stay outside long enough. We transferred to an indoor table after our drinks arrived. The service was superb. When we moved inside they gave us what the waiter said was the best table in the house. You really could see the entire restaurant from that table which was nice!

Okay, this is a good restaurant. But the bill for 4 people was over $700. That is just wrong. The steaks were good. But oddly enough the pasta was better. But the prices are way to much. Will not be going there again. Also it is difficult to find. There is one small sign to announce the restaurant that I passed twice until I found the place.

We had dinner at KR twice in about 10 days, neither time with a reservation (so they did not have the name). Both times, we had the same server, Kelly. Not only did she remember us, she remembered what we had to drink (and my disappointment about the lack of a pinot grigio by the glass). The menu seems to change fairly regularly, but every thing we have had there is excellent. The Arancini is excellent as an appetizer. The meatballs are also really good, but a little spicy. Pasta is always cooked perfectly. An excellent meal. A little expensive, but very much worth it. They need to add a pinot grigio by the glass, though.

So much food and mostly good. I am not a pasta lover but they served some amazing pasta. Steak was good and cooked as ordered. Artichokes were really good. Desserts not all of that. Great service! Full bar.

Great dinner with a large group that the staff took great care of. The well stocked bar with excellent bartenders that can make any drink you desire. The side dishes were all excellent in that we had most if not all. The meatballs were very good. We shared the large porterhouse and had an array of sides plus a choice of pasta that was excellent. The service was wonderful.

Since this was for our office holiday party the experience may not be exactly the same. The staff was very courteous and hard working in a very crowded setting. The food was fantastic. The only complaint I would have is that the men's room was really dark. There was some illumination and perhaps I just couldn't find the light switch. Otherwise the restaurant was tastefully decorated and again the food was great!

I have always been a fan of Rathbun's restaurants, particularly Rathbun Steak which I view as the best of the lot. Couldn't get in there on a Saturday night, so we tried this place which is somewhat out of the way for us. Never again. The food was excellent . Nice cheese plate, mixed green salad and a couple of perfectly prepared steaks with a side of mushrooms. And so, what's the problem here? 1. We had barely been seated and were about to order an appetizer when our server informed us that, as the place was very busy, the chef requested that we order all of our food at once. Huh? Understaffed maybe or, worse, trying to turn the table as fast as possible? Neither of us ( and my companion was a server in her younger days) had ever encountered such a command in any restaurant , much less a $100/person steak house. Needless to say, it set a negative tone for the experience. 2. As my companion and I prefer different wines, we customarily order a couple of wines by the glass. Turning to the wines by-the-glass offerings had me looking around for the outlaw holding a six-shooter and demanding my wallet. I think the LEAST expensive wine by the glass was $19, but you could buy a " glass and a half" ( which we did ) for around $33 even though it was more like a glass and a quarter. Really, there outta be a law - check out the wine by the glass price list at Rathbun Steak and you will see what I am talking about. There is no excuse for this. 3. The place is VERY LOUD and conversation was VERY DIFFICULT. Perhaps this is viewed as a good thing by some, but not by us. Adios KR Steak Bar. We'll stick with Rathbun Steak or Bones in the future. Happy Trails.

Enjoyed our evening at KR Steak Bar, but from the beginning a littles confusing. This menu has great, delicious pasta dishes, but we had no idea when we made reservations. I feel that the homemade pasta dishes are outstanding and the bet part of the menu. The steak, however, was not so great. They have "different" cuts of steak and just aren't that great. Our server even explained that one cut was basically the "butt" of the cow. Not sure about you, but I don't want to order anything that is then"butt." 3 people at our table had different cuts and nobody was really overwhelmed. Again, the Pasta is worth going back for, which I will. The space is beautiful. Service is OK. As always Kevin stopped by our table to chat. I would recommend this restaurant, but would just give them expectations.

Not worth the money.....loud restaurant...chairs and tables sub standard...portions small even the alcohol...would not recommend...too many great restaurants in Atlanta to give in to this one.

We had dinner at the KR Steak Bar recently as part of a group business outing. As such, our group gathered at the bar behind the kitchen, then we were seated in the private dining room behind the bar. The staff was great; friendly, cheerful, focused on taking care of us. The bar appeared well stocked. I asked if they had McCallan and the response was "Of course!" We had the pre-arranged menu with limited items, and I don't know if that made a difference, but surprisingly for an up-scale restaurant with "steak" in the name, the steak was not good. My wife's and my steak was tough and gristly. Very disappointing! All the other food, several courses including salad, appetizers, various veggies and potatoes and dessert were all very good, and the service was excellent. Perhaps we just had bad luck, or maybe they don't give you the good steak with the pre-arranged group menu - be aware of this possibility if you're planning that sort of outing.

Great selection of small plates with Kevin Rathbun's creative creations. Good bar scene but not distracting if you just come for the food.

I am not sure where to start, there are good and bad with the food and the service. The restaurant itself is noisy and was not a good choice for a couples dinner. The chairs are hard and uncomfortable, but the booths looked to be much better. The restaurant presents itself as an Italian steakhouse. The arancini were absolutely fabulous, as was the papperdelle ragu. However, the crostini was so hard as to require gnawing to bite through the bread. This was not the worst, though. My husband ordered scallops, which were served cooked on only one side, and pretty much raw. The veal that I ordered was originally served cooked well done, instead of medium rare as ordered. I was unable to even cut through the meat with a steak knife. This was the first time I have sent food back in more than 5 years. It was replaced with a correctly cooked portion. However, this cut of veal just seemed to be difficult to eat with gristle and bone. Finally, the entrees are al a carte, so we ordered side dishes. The fingerling potatoes were just the worst potatoes for $ 11. They were cooked whole and topped with a sticky glob of greens and mayo. Poor presentation and no flavor. Now, I would like to say that every staff member was amazing, except for our server. She never returned after dropping off the plates. Someone else noticed that I was not eating and handled replacing the veal. Our meal was completed and plates removed before she returned, with the check. For $175+, we were very disappointed.

My husband and I had dinner here this weekend and everything was absolutely delicious. Would definitely return when we're in the area.

I've had dirty martinis all over the world. Never had one for $16!. We had 2 each, that was $64. Really!!?? Asinine. Their martini glasses are smaller than most also. The apps were tasty but not much there. The steaks were good. Mine was under cooked. See photo. I ordered medium to medium rare. It was closer to rare! We had the mushroom side. Now the mushrooms were tasty but they smoother it with some green mushy not sure. Green n mushy is just plain gross. Anytime, anywhere. Looked like baby poop on my side. Just stay away from that. Our bill, with tip (server was just average), was nearly $280! That is silly. People will go once, if you go again, you must like throwing your money away. In a city with 500 restaurant choices, you can get as good, if not better for a lot less.

We had a party of 6 and were seated in the back bar area which was really nice for our party to carry on and be able to hear each other. We had three courses and while things went well for the first two, we must have had an hour before we finally got up and tracked down the waiter to see if they had forgotten our main courses. The mussels were great as was the black pepper pasta. The remaining starters were good but not memorable so a bit of a disappointment. Once the main courses were found, they were very good. The scallops were probably the best of the six but the chicken was also enjoyed. Three of us got a steak special with a balsamic reduction which I though overpowered the meat and left a less than satisfying aftertaste. We drank both Chilean chardonnay and California cab and the bill was about $250 a couple. A nice evening but not one I would do on a regular basis

We just had a wonderful experience at KR SteakBar. Here are the details: Service (A+) – Extremely friendly and attentive. Our server, Kelsi, was superb Appetizer: Wagyu Carpaccio (B+) – Good but I’ve had better Appetizer: Arancini (A) – A real winner. The bacon and smoked mozzarella worked so well with the caramelized onions and sweet corn puree Pasta: Maltagliati (B-) – Just ok. Nothing special. Pasta: Agnolotti (A) – Excellent. Very flavorful, and the accompanying pork was very good Steak: 30oz Cowboy Ribeye (A) – Very juicy and tender. We loved it Sides: Yaya’s Eggplant Fries (A+) – How surprising! Who would’ve thought that powdered sugar covered eggplant fries, dipped in hot sauce, made sense. Delectable! Dessert: Classic Tiramisu (A++++++++) – The best tiramisu I’ve ever tried! And I’ve been to Italy many times, but nothing I’ve ever had beats this amazing tiramisu Dessert: Brown Sugar Cheesecake (A+) – Oh so decadent… Before tipping, we spent $311 on a meal for three (2 appetizers, 3 entrées, 1 side, 2 desserts, 1 mocktail, no alcohol, only water). Will be returning for sure!

I dunno why the bad reviews, because i eat here like once a month for past year and this place tops all other Atlanta area restaurants, my servers here have always been absolute perfection and attentiveness and my steaks cooked absolutely perfecto the way I ask !!! If u complain about this place , u have mental issues !!

We met up with some old friends for dinner here on a Friday evening. The restaurant is in a relatively quiet side street with valet parking. The restaurant is in a stand alone building decorated in a clean modern fashion, but not at the sacrifice of comfort. Noise levels even when full we're not terrible. There is a nice bar area where you can eat food or just have a drink. We were seated promptly and let our waitress know that we were not pushed for time. As a result she paced the meal to make it leisurely and very pleasant. Starters were very tasty with the Octopus for me being a stand out. Slightly spicy but incredibly tender. The steaks run the gamut of cuts but they have a couple of unusual ones and two of us chose a cut that is a part of the ribeye but very tender and incredibly flavorful. It was the most expensive at $50 and I suspect that you would enjoy the hanger steak at half that price if you wished. Personally I do not like Brussels sprouts but my companions ordered them as a side and pronounced them delicious. We tried the creme caramel for desert and it was delicious as well. The advantage of the restaurant is that it serves other food than steak so our vegetarian companion had a very good pasta dish. Good wine selection, great service overall and a great time was had by all.

Great food, great service and great atmosphere. However going to back room with friends for after dinner cocktails, when you walk in back door you smell the cleaning fluids from the bathrooms. Turn off. Then the music was only rap which became irritating. All in all loved the restaurant but to keep a great clientele, I think these two items should be looked into

What a great place. From the first bite of the meat and cheese platter, to the last bit of dessert, everything was perfect. Chef Chad is awesome. Be warned.. The sides are large enough for 2-4 people! We had the Shell steak & lamb chops, with the Brussels sprouts and roasted potatoes. You will not be disappointed

Came here with my vegetarian wide who is 10 weeks pregnant. Our server Brian was excellent in making sure that she had unpasteurized cheese and other plates of food that not only fit her diet but the babies as well. He certainly allowed her to experience the restaurnt at it's best. I went with the meatballs as well as the rib eye and marrow. The food was cooked on point and the chef even stopped by to say hello. The steak was the closest thing to perfection I've had in a long time. We certainly will go again and I highly reccomend this for vegetarian's as well.

We were six and it took forever for anything! My guests joked about ordering Dominos as an app. Food was so bland and boring, perhaps I'm not a 'trophy restaurant' guy but save your money! Go to Houston's! So lost!

Disappointed after much expectation and satisfaction with his other restaurants. Concept of "small plates" (prices seem lower, but so is the quantity) with an Italian theme was interesting and the presentations were very nice. Food was OK, not as good as the other Rathbun Restaurants and the noise of so many multiple conversations assaults your brain and you can't wait to finish and leave. There does not seem to be any noise deadening material in the loft feel/look building and may appeal to some, but I will not plan on a return visit.

Very nice restaurant. The service was excellent and my steak was done perfectly. The only reason we were able to get a reservation on sort of short notice was they are not usually open on Sunday, but where last weekend due to the holidays. We had a large party of eight and everyone was very pleased with the service and their meals!

My husband and I went here recently for a date night. We decided to be adventurous and go with the chef's tasting menu ($65 each, and the whole table has to participate). We were happy we did! We were brought several dishes from each menu category, and a personal visit from the (energetic, female) chef. She had our waiter gather info about what on the menu appealed to us and made sure those items showed up. It was a lot of food and we were sad when we ran out of room. Our favorite dishes were the brussels sprouts (crispy with preserved lemon, amazing!), grouper and caramel bar with hazelnut crust. This place is worth a visit!

Unique Neighborhood Restaurant featuring small plates; excellent steaks; creative cocktails—-And substantial wine selection. Went to celebrate my husband’s birthday; when it was discovered that the restaurant did not have BudLight; (and that is his favorite) —staff drove to get this specific beer for my sweetie. They went above and beyond to make sure he enjoyed the evening— sweet touch. Kelly was our waitress—she’s very attentive. My husband loved his ribeye. Our friends enjoyed the fillet. I had the scallops—- but oh, the chocolate dessert was dreamy with a crunchy taste of orange. A bit pricey, but worth the visit and customer service. The Heirloom Tomato Salad was also tasty. We will be back

Despite being a long term fan of the original Rathbuns, this restaurant is disappointing. First, the noise level during busier hours is absurd. The menu is well balanced, but perhaps a tad short. The charcuterie selection was pitiful. For $20 one gets a few wafer thin slices of average salami, prosciutto, one cheese and a crostini that was enjoyable. Not an impressive opener, though. Again for $20 you get pasta dishes that should really be considered appetisers due to the small portions. The pasta is cooked properly, but both (signature) dishes we ordered lacked that full flavour one would expect from a ragu or pesto. Both were coated in Parmesan on arrival, when standard practice is to ask if the customer would like cheese additionally? The short rib main was pushing $30 and distinctly lacking. The meat was well prepared, but the supporting cast of uncooked mushrooms and broth was laughably bland. Overall, not sure what this restaurant hopes to be. The food is too lacking in flavour to be considered proper Italian. Then the prices are too high and the portions too small that one invariably leaves hungry and dissatisfied.

One of the liveliest restaurant in Atlanta! The vibe is what you would enjoy for a friday night. Food is ok. They offer an average italian cusine, definetly not a steak bar. Small plates and pasta mostly. Wine selection is good. I would come again more just for the vibe..

For years I have been a fan of Kevin Rathbun's other restaurants in Atlanta. KR Steakbar is my new favorite. The selection of small plates never disappoints. My favorites are the artichokes & the melt-in-your-mouth flavorful steaks. The portions are not too large, which allows you to enjoy more plates & greater variety. If the dining room is full, you can almost always find space in the comfy leather chairs or communal seating in the bar. My husband & I dine at KR once or twice each week. That's how much we love it!

Ate hear for NYE. We got the sampling menu for $65/person. We got to try many things: cheese plate, pasta dishes, steak, chicken, taters, Brussel sprouts, desserts. Everything was good, and atmosphere was pretty cool. We will be back

Last night my wife and I were invited by some very special friends for dinner at this very fine restaurant. As regulars they suggested the "Chef's Pick" for the evening for the table and what a great decision it was. The first course a selection of salami's and pickled vegetables was very nice...the second course were two pasta dishes...the Tonnarelli and another black pasta with chili peppers and crabmeat. Both were excellent but the Tonnarelli was very, very special. After a Limoncello sorbet intermezzo we enjoyed four beautiful entrees including the Shell Steak, the Swordfish, the Calabrian Chili and Vinegar Chicken, and the Rib-Eye. All were very good but the Shell Steak was our favorite. For dessert we enjoyed a nice sampling of four desserts. In addition to all the great food...the service was very friendly and most attentive. Although this was our first time at this restaurant it won't be our last. If you're looking for wonderful steak, pasta, and service for a very good value in Atlanta...look no further!

Our family ate at RK Steakbar for my daughter's birthday. We had an 8:30 reservation but misread traffic and arrived almost a half-hour early. We were willing to wait, but the host went ahead and seated us right then. Our waiter/waitress (training) was awesome! Very friendly to us and the girls. They knew the menu and were able to give us ideas on what the kids would like. The ribeye, sprouts, potatoes, and romaine salad were all amazing! Everything was perfectly cooked. Once the waiter heard it was my daughter's birthday, he brought her a dessert with a candle. I can't express in words how nice our experience was here. The staff was friendly, the service was stellar, and the food was top-notch! I would recommend it for any/all occasions. Valet was complementary - tip though ;). The host even gave our kids a quick tour of the kitchen - very professional, and my 7 y/o said "This was the best birthday meal ever!" To top it off, a restaurant staff member called me two days later to see how our dining experience was. Great touch!

Had a Christmas girls dinner. Our server was awesome and guided us well on the small plates and how much to order for out table. Food was amazing!

Had a great meal. Our waiter Ben was a guru - worked as an exec chef prior to this. Trust him, and he won't steer you wrong. I got the aged hanger steak. Wow! It melted in my mouth. My boyfriend got the aged ribeye, which he loved. We tried the chicken livers, squash blossoms, grilled corn (to die for), and a squid ink pasta. We had a semi-freddo for dessert. I can't say enough good things about this place - low key and just delicious food. Apparently they have some homemade wicked built grill for the steaks. This place outdoes Rathbun's, and I really like Rathbun's. Bravo! But definitely ask for Ben. The other waiter had the table behind us, and they didn't have the same experience.

We were a large group( 8 of us) and our table was in the middle of the restaurant shielded from the bar and the space with a sheer curtain.Brilliant! Hanging lights, dim, not very noisy yet not in a separate room.We ordered the Chefs picks at 55$ per person so we got a tasting of almost everything. The pastas were quite good the Pappardelle with ragu, the Orecchietti, the Fettucine were all good, the Artichokes(appetizers) the Arancini and the risotto meatballs were excellent the pork belly I did not like everyone else did.The steaks also good but the Pork Milanese was outstanding.WOW.As for the service I must point out Lidiya a young Russian American girl who was spectacular. She redefined amazing outstanding service.Very impressive.

The Steak Was Outstanding So Was The People Watching I Love All of Kevins Restaurants I Really Think He Is The Wolfgang Puck of the South All Of His Restaurants Are Amazing!

Recently we met another couple for dinner at KR Steak Bar. I had not heard of this restaurant although I certainly know of the reputation its founder. Simply stated, the meal and ambiance was extraordinary. Tucked away in a residential area of Buckhead, KR Steak Bar has valet parking and upon arrival the initial appearance is not impressive. However, once you step inside, this place is special. The utilization of space coupled with the soft and creative lighting makes it wonderful from the moment of entry. Although the restaurant was crowded and a bit noisy on Saturday evening, we had reservations and were immediately escorted to our table. The waiter was outstanding. He took us through the menu, immediately brought water and soon had bread and olive oil on the table. The menu had many excellent selections but the waiter convinced us to order the "Chef's Pick" which essentially is a six course meal that allows patrons to sample virtually everything on the menu. While it was a lot of food, it was an outstanding choice. It is not necessary to mention every food item tasted but suffice to say that virtually every item we tasted was outstanding. The bone marrow was a bit odd but everything tasted delicious. The "intermezzo" course featured raspberry sorbet and it was the perfect palate cleanser. We finished the meal by sampling 4 desserts. Once the meal was completed the waiter took us on a personal tour of the "speakeasy" type bar which was tucked away behind the kitchen. The space is ideal for private parties or business dinners. Overall, I would rate this as one of the best restaurants in Atlanta. From the ambiance to the food to the excellent service, this was an incredible dining experience. I highly recommend this place but it is pricey. Don't worry about the cost. Just enjoy the meal. It is well worth it.

We enjoyed everything. Our server was nice and fun. Lovely design and good food. There were 5 of us. We plan to go back soon.

We went last weekend for Inman Park restaurant week. They were very busy and we were worried that we would miss our reservation as we were 20 minutes late. The host was very nice and sat us promptly. Food was delicious as usual, this time the service was superb. Our waiter answered all our questions and helped us make the best food selections. We'll be back soon.

We ate here with 10 people and ordered the chef's dinner. It was perfect and very tasty. They brought many dishes to our table so we didn't have to worry about what to order and we had a great sampling of what the menu offers. Some dishes we felt were a bit salty but all in all a great meal and experience.

Appetizer portions were very small. Drinks were poured on the short side. All food was overly salted and almost inedible. Very loud atmosphere.

First time at KR Steak Bar was great. Not just steak, also awesome pastas and veggies. (We took a vegetarian with us and he had a great experience as well). Six of us enjoyed cocktails, yummy “What, What” and other Tequila and Gin cocktails. For appetizers, the arancini, with a wonderful jam. The cheese plate was also very good. The main course, a couple shared their steak. The lobster ravioli was great. The other pastas also good. Vegetarian rice dish a was a hit too. The side veggies were very good, recommend the Brussels sprouts, the broccoli, the new potatoes, all good. Wine selection was extensive, we had a nice bottle of Montepulciano (about $40). The deserts, if you like sugar, go for the donuts. I went for Gorgonzola as a finisher with my wine. Another had and loved the cheesecake, small but tasty. All told excellent service, excellent food. Dinner for six, one bottle of wine was about $450.

Tiny little place but oh so good food. They had a valet for parking. We went for steak and it was the right choice. They don't have baked potatoes, but what we had was unique & delicious. Our bill for 2, with tip, came to $101.83

The menu, drinks, service and food were all great. We had a wonderful time and would come back except for the ending of the evening. Our valet chose to leave us a gift in the car that took some time to air out. Thankfully it was one of the warmer evenings we've had this Spring in Atlanta and could drive with the windows down for a while. We know that the valets are contracted and not employed directly by the restaurant, but it is a reflection on the entire experience. I would not hesitate recommending KR Steak Bar to friends, but would highly recommend they self park or at least find a valet with a little more intesitnal fortitude. We have valeted plenty in this town, but this is the only time we can recall being left with such a noxious and nautious ending to a great evening. It's disrespectful at best, disgusting at worst. It is sad that this is a reflection on this establishment. And to think that I tipped the jerk for flatulating in my car.

If you're anything like my wife and me, you like to sit at the bar, have great food (and drinks) served to you by the bar staff and have a really fun time. This is your kind of place. Ask for Jamie.

This may be a first and actual review in our home town. It seems we only usually write reviews of places we travel but last night we had the opportunity to finally try this Rathbun restaurant close to our house which opened earlier this year. We have eaten at Kevin's other restaurants before and always enjoyed ourselves so we expected a nice dinner. What followed was truly spectacular and puts this local chef into a new orbit, hands down his best effort. We sat at the bar, where we got fantastic service and proceeded to sample about 6 dishes paired with a great wine at a reasonable price, doesn't get any better. Every dish was perfection and a delight to the tastebuds!

Every time we eat here, we have a good meal. Trust your waiters! They do know what is best on the menu. The grilled octopus is the best choice perfectly cooked all three times! All of the pastas are fresh and delicious. I liked the Bolognese the best, but the fennel sausage pasta and the pork ragu are both worth a try. The gargnelli with the spinach and peas was a little underwhelming but good. They do make things vegetarian if you request it. The best meat dish is by far the hanger steak. The 10oz ribeye is plenty for two people to share if you do a pasta and some apps. Try the picked artichokes. A very nice wine selection. The only think that is hit or miss is the dessert - the passion fruit pana cotta is TERRIFIC. However, do not waste your calories on the olive oil cake or the chocolate caramel ganache bar thing. It comes out too fast, hard, and cold. You don't even taste it. Plus, it's heavy-handed on the finishing salt. The atmosphere is also nice - bar, patio, and dining area. I like it much better than Rathbun's (too big, cavelike, hard to make it the same quality at that scale). This place is just right.

This place was a bit off the beaten path for my friend and I who where staying in downtown but it was worth the trip and worth every penny. We ended up here because my friend had gone to Kevin Rathbun Steak previously but we weren't able to get a reservation while we were in town together in order for me to try it. And so we decided to try the KR Steakbar. My friend said she enjoyed it more than Kevin Rathbun Steak. For me, my meal was spectacular. The shell steak with the espresso rub was amazing and the Brussels sprouts side a particular bright note. Every one we encountered was super friendly and helpful.

We were a party of 5 and all had different steaks and they were cooked perfectly and were delicious. The sides (Brussel sprouts, mushrooms) were big enough for 2 or 3 and very tasty. Our service was very good and the waitress was very knowledgeable. The only problem with the evening was there were 3 very large tables and the noise was so loud we could not hear each other. We all said that we were exhausted after dinner from shouting at one another. If I go back I will make sure to get a table away from the large groups--there is a very low ceiling and it just magnifies the noise!

We expected a lot since this is a Rathbun restaurant and were so disappointed. The place is nicely done but is loud; one of the managers moved us farther from the hub but it still required LOUD speaking to hear each other. The tables wobbled and one of us almost had a glass of water - or 4 - in his lap. The food was so unworthy of what one in Atlanta thinks is Rathbun quality - first course meatballs: cold. Next course, 4 of 4 entrees COLD. I sent my pasta back for reheating and though it did have steam coming from it when it landed, inside was still lukewarm. Only one glass of chardonnay was available at the by-the-glass option; the pour was embarrassing LITTLE. We won't go back, nor we will advise anyone else to try it.

Warehouse dining is a popular thing in Atlanta, these days, and some do it better than others. KR Steak Bar is a well conceived space that works. It's dimly lit, which creates a nice dining atmosphere, but it also hides a more minimalist eye for decor. Chairs are schoolhouse style, but not uncomfortable. Corrugated fiberglass backlit walls make for a nice mood. Service was comfortable, attentive, and pleasant. Recommendations were spot on. Wine cost is a bit high, but the pairing suggestions was a good one. The Burrata (Beets, Pumkin Seeds) did not wow us, but it was a well prepared, well conceived offering . The Salumi Misti and Farmaggi Misti are overpriced for what is delivered. But those were our only real "issues" with the offerings. The Pork and Beef Ragu was excellent, with wide pasta and excellent flavors. We ate it all. The Fliets are excellent. Their small, but the braised leeks and garlic class up the cut nicely. The exterior crusting was a nice touch. Some would argue that it was over done on the exterior, but we felt like it really enhanced the flavor of the meat. For a real treat, the Shell Steak is fabulous. Sides are ample, and you can split one or two. The Potatoes and Trumpet Mushrooms were excellent. Dessert was nicely done. Pumpkin gelato was smooth and not overly sweet, and a very nice way to end the meal. The Chocolate Budino is delightful. I note in other reviews some complaints about noise. When were dined, the noise was at a minimum. We had no trouble conversing, and the width of the booths provided excellent spacing between our table and the one behind us. I suppose if the bar area is full of patrons, it could be noisy, but we didn't have that experience. It was, instead, a very relaxing and pleasant meal. Wine cost is too high, but other than that, we felt like the meal was a good value. The service was truly excellent.

This restaurant was good the first time a year 1/2 ago. The place went downhill. I went to celebrate my fiancé birthday there since we enjoy the first time. They changed the vibe to playing derogatory music, where the lyrics talk about women's genitalia. Repeatedly it a couple used through the song the p word & vigina....&vvviginaAAlso,thplhadsongs with f bombs in it

It was a rainy night in Georgia, but a good night to eat at KR. Christmas decorations and festive mood of the staff made us forget the deluge outside. We had filet, grouper, and scollops, and all were prepared to perfection. KR has an adaquate and broad wine list. Can't go wrong with deserts. We had chololate, ice cream, and apple tort, and the Miscato Di Asti was perfect ending to a good meal. Service was outstanding, and we will come back.

The best steak I've ever had was my wife's verdict after finishing her first but not last Rathbun version of the ribeye cap so highly sought after by steak lovers. If you're a ribeye lover you should not pass up the opportunity if the steak is available. Accompaniments are well presented and plenty enough to share among two or three. Pasta dishes are pretty standard but done well from what we sampled. The salumi is all sourced from regional suppliers and is served with homemade pickled vegetables and hearty bread.

It awful to have a wonderful meal that is constantly interrupted by the slightest move of the person behind you. The booths at KR are awful. You feel every motion of the person behind you and it TOTALLY RUINS the otherwise wonderful meal. Spinalis cut was delicious as well as the lamb sausage pasta and the octopus. Love the food. Hate the booths!!! So easy to fix.

My husband and I enjoyed a date night here on January 2nd. Our waiter, Josh, was fabulous! He had personally eaten most of the menu items and gave solid advice with very descriptive explanations of each dish. He also provided great council on the wines. The atmosphere was wonderful. A truly enjoyable setting. Sadly, the pasta was the big disappointment of the evening. I ordered the Maltagliati. The pasta was overlooked. There was no sauce on the plate and although the short rib meat was very tender, the meal overall was flavorless and uneventful! We ordered the Brussels sprouts as a side and they were crispy and tasty. My husband LOVED the special steak dish. And the creme brûlée was fabulous. My advice... Go for a steak and skip the barely average pasta dish.
Nice Atmosphere
This restaurant is tucked away in Peachtree Hills, off the beaten bath. The decor and overall atmosphere are nice. This was my first trip to a Kevin Rathbun restaurant. I was a little underwhelmed by the food. We had the fried risotto balls which were okay but a little bland. I had the pork shoulder and my husband had the hanger steak. The meat was seasoned and cooked perfectly. We shared the pasta with lamb's neck. Again, it was a little bland. As others have mentioned, the portions are small. They are meant to be small plates. So, the cost can add up pretty quickly. I'm glad i went to try it out. I'm not sure, given all the dining options in Atlanta, that I would make a return trip. However, it was still a nice dining experience, especially since the kids got left at home!
