The Best Korean BBQ in town

By Randi R |

Always on our Must-Eat list when we are traveling to LA. Fresh meats with server To Help you cook perfectly. Only trouble is no phone reservation, always expected at least 1.5 hours wait, but worth it.

Too Close to The Grill

By TheLeongOhana |

My suggestion is to come here as early as you can to secure parking in the back lot ($8 per car, no time limit) and avoid having a long wait for a table. They have both indoor and outdoor seating same as before COVID. My first choice would be to eat indoors since all the tables have the integrated grills and exhaust fans. The outdoor seating, which we ended up, have portable grills which meant they were a lot closer to some of us. Being so close meant that all the hot grease from cooking the meat ended up on me. I liberally used napkins to cover my clothes but my arms were stung off and on throughout dinner. During COVID restrictions, the staff no longer cooked the meat for us so this was the side effect. Swapping new grills helped a little bit as well as finally finding the right cooking temperature on the knob. We ordered the large beef combination (brisket, marinated beef and short ribs) which also came with the steamed egg and prok kimchi soup. The steamed egg was so light and tasty that we ordered another bowl. The pork soup contained tofu, and pork belly but my daughters thought it was a bit too salty. The beef was tender and hit the spot. I really liked the tartness from the thinly sliced radish to wrap my meat and dip in the wasabi, soy, chili and onion sauce. A little salty and heat. All bonchon bowls had free refills and the same with rice (but had to be requested). Overall a nice dinner outing that was with the one hour wait.

Go-to Korean BBQ in K-town

By Leslie K MB |

We're fans this place, because it offers a different spin on your average Korean bbq (and I personally appreciate how the servers cook and cut up the meat for you, something that usually ends up being my job). We never go for dinner because we don't want to wait an hour, but at lunchtime it's relatively easy to get a table. Their combo meals provide plenty of meat (3 different kinds of either pork or beef; unfortunately you can't mix & match which is my only complaint), and we always order some dongchimi noodles to go along with the meal. The main reason I'm writing this is to commend our server that we had yesterday -- the servers are usually quite good (even if they might be perfunctory, they're quite efficient, immediately repeating orders into their clip-on mikes attached to their t-shirts) -- but this time we were served by Tina and her service was excellent. She was lightning fast (it helped that we were sitting pretty close to the kitchen, but still...), anticipated our needs, was pleasant, and cute. Go there for the food, and if you're lucky then Tina will be your server! (oh, one other minor complaint about the establishment -- their napkins are TINY. My daughter likened her napkin to a square of toilet paper. We just have to remember to bring our own, or I've resorted to getting some paper towels from the bathroom)

Korean BBQ

Korean BBQ right on your table. Very helpful staff esp if you are new to Korean BBQ. Had long queue but its worth it

Best Korean BBQ I have ever eaten!!

By Van C |

This place is always packed as per people we know who visited, so we kind of went for an early dinner - before 5 pm. They will not seat your party if not everyone is present. It is not cheap eats for sure but the taste and quality of the meat is what you are paying for. The atmosphere is quite loud and fast paced so if you are looking for a slow pace dinner, not ideal. We had a little bit of everything in the menu which was great especially the beef on the grill. As you as you are done with the meal they will begin to clear the table as the line up outside is long. When in LA go try this place and you will not be disappointed. Highly recommended.

Best Korean Food!

By Diane B |

My daughter and I had dinner there. They get very busy. We had the beef combo, the best Korean food we ever had. They do play EDM music. My theory is to make the customers eat faster and get out. The staff friendly and helpful to recommend what to eat. We are going back there ASAP. If you finish the side of kimchi, or any of the side dishes they will give you more unless you request not to.

So delicious!

By Andrea D |

Great spot! Great music! Really good food and service was wonderful. The atmosphere was fantastic. There was a lineup but it was so quickly. Worth the wait. Will go back, no doubt!

Nice ....

Had a conference in LA and stayed at a hotel in Korea town do we went out to dinner. There were 7 of us and for a number it was the first time with Korean food. I have been to Korea but am not fond of the cuisine. The food was ok, nothing more. The meat was high quality.

Our "Go To" Spot for KBBQ

By Yvonne V |

Hands down our most favorite spot for KBBQ! The meats, side dishes, and service are THE BEST! This place has pretty much ruined us for other KBBQ restaurants. It isn't AYCE, but we never leave hungry! We usually have to wait at least an hour to get seated but it is well worth the wait, and once you get seated, you are pretty much fed right away. We will be coming back to this place for many, many years!!

Not just a restaurant: an experience

By michaelh409 |

I went with my son who was familiar with the place and I appreciated the guide. Come early and come hungry. The place is very crowded and the lot is so small you'll need to use valet parking. Lots of Koreans cook their own food at the table, but we let the staff cook ours (right choice). The food keeps coming out so don't fill up on the greens at the lead off. I have some food allergies so ask the staff as they have some odd combinations: for example the beef stew appetizer had clams in it (everyone else like it). BAEK JEONG means butcher in Korean and apparently this was the chef/owners stage name in Korean wrestling.

Very good Korean bbq Food with mind service

By Ergdem |

You must prepare yourself to smelling barbeque but it really worths. definately i will go again with my wife.

Best Korean ever!

By Jane G |

Seven family members had a Saturday lunch here which was amazing! Barbecued pork bellies and beef ribs were superb and servers were very attentive to the table grills. Some in our party had gluten free meat, also delicious. Advise you go around 11:30 for lunch or you will have a wait. Larger parties are not seated until everyone is present.m

Delicious and Authentic!

By Meily L |

I went to Kang Hodong Baekjeong for my birthday because I had been dying to try korean BBQ. I am so glad I choose this place, the most delicious and tender meats and every single side dish was as delicious as the next! The kimchi soup was delightful and their cheesy corn is incredible. The servers are so polite and they waste no time as soon as you are seated side dishes await you and as soon as you order your combo they get it on the grill for you and quickly cook it for you. My favorite cut was the beef brisket! Although its a little challenging to find and the parking situation is complex this place is worth it all!

pork belly to die for

By libyu |

The pork belly was awesome!!! the wait to get in was awfully long…but i had to try since i came all the way from the East Coast to try this restaurant. Enjoyed the ambience.

great Korean BBQ experience

By Wei C T |

This is a busy restaurant with long wait during peak hour. They take reservation though but in person – register your name, no of pax and leave a phone number (local number though). You will receive a message when table is ready. We spent our waiting time (around 40 minutes) checking out the surrounding shops. Service otherwise is fast. Delicious side dishes are served. They cooked the meat for us. We ordered a medium set which comprises 3 types of meat, a soup, steamed egg etc. It is more than enough for a family of 3 (2 adults and one child). It is more value for money than ordering ala carte. We are fans of Korean BBQ and we enjoyed our meal on this occasion. At the price, the meat quality is surprisingly good. Of course, be prepared to smell barbeque after the meal. Go on the day when you schedule to wash your hair, in your dirty change.

Yakiniku

By Hawaii 808 |

This is one of the best Korean Barbeque’s that I’ve been to. There was a 20 minute wait but it was definitely worth it. We ordered the beef barbecue and that definitely enough for 2 of us. The meat was soft and the waiter cooked it for us. The banchan(side dishes) was delicious. We’re definitely coming back

Soooooooo good

By Matthew D |

Myself, my wife and a friend arrived at around 6, were told it would be a 45 minute wait and got a table after about 20 which was a pleasant surprise. For the three of us we got the large beef combination which I think the menu said would serve 4-5 but we very happily went through. Servers take care of cooking the meat on the grill in the middle of the table which is apparently not always the case (this was my first time doing Korean BBQ) but given how well everything turned out I am glad we were not the ones managing the grill. I would classify this place as a great experience but definitely too expensive to do unless a friend is visiting or there is a special occasion. Also bad or good depending on your preference but all the clothes we wore smelled like meat for the next few days.

FIRST TIME EATING KOREAN FOOD

By 1Trippermonth |

We went to this restaurant as my first time eating Korean food and pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The meat was nicely prepared and the place was very energetic. There looked to be other dishes on the menu that seemed worth trying on a future return visit.

Authentic Korean!

By Shawn O |

From the first look inside, it felt like I was transported to Korea. Grills on every table with the full assortment of sides awaiting our attendance. Simple menu with beef, pork, basic Kimchi stew, japchae noodles, and other core Korean eatables. Very attentive service worked as a crew. Loved it!

Food 4 stars, Service 2

By keyser_soosie |

After my first two trips here where the wait was a minimum of 30 minutes, I stopped coming here for dinner. It's just too insanely packed and to be honest, not worth a wait longer than half an hour. So this is now a spot I go to for lunch on a Saturday. I love the pork combo, the dosirak and the various dishes that come with it. What knocks this down a star or two is the service. Service seriously sucks here. I'm talking about lunch time where not every table is packed too. On one occasion, we were waiting and waiting for our soup to come out. I asked 3 times. I see a soup go to the table next to us who came a good half hour after we did. I asked again. The response I got from the waiter was so incredibly rude. After that I avoided it, but came back b/c I'm a sucker for punishment. Service was marginally better the times following. But I'd go back here, but again, only for lunch.

Excellent Korean BBQ

By adventurer1234 |

We went to Korean Town after landing at the LA Airport. Kang Hodong Baekjeong BBQ was our choice for dinner, which turned out to be an excellent choice out of several restaurants in Korean Town. The wait for a table was about 45 minutes, but well worth the wait. The BBQ pit in the center of the table was very convenient to select BBQ to enjoy. The sides served with the dinner were very good. The servers were continually turning the meats as they cooked and were available if needed, but were not intrusive. The restaurant had a high level of conversation noise, but we were easily able to carry on a conversation. The menu was varied with reasonably priced and tasty selections.

Long Wait, Quality Meat, Energetic Ambience, Great Service

By nadarien |

Located at Chapman Plaza which is a cool building with lots of food options. Parking is hell especially on weekends. There is a valet service and I suggest doing that instead of wasting time driving around the block looking for street parking. The wait time almost made us give up. Our group of 6 was told one hour, which became maybe 45 minutes. Others report longer waiting times. The food was excellent. LA offers lots of AYCE options, but we went A la carte. For about $225, we got 2 briskets, pork, galbi, ribeye, soybean soup, 8 rice bowls, couple large beers. We couldn't finish our food! The servers cook your food for you, so you don't have to turn the meat yourself. I would definitely go back here.

Good food, good service!

By MKA7488 |

Me and my wife met up with her friend to try out Kang Hodong, and we enjoyed all of the things we ordered. I had read and heard that there is sometimes a long wait, but luckily for us we had gone on a Tuesday night, and the three of us were seated right after we put our names down. We ordered the short rib, beef tongue, seafood pancake, and two other meats that I don't recall but were both very good. The servers will even cook your meat for you, which I wasn't used to, but welcomed it a lot since I'm usually the one who mans the grill while everyone else eats. The hot plate around the grill had some eggs cooking on the edges, and a creamy corn side which were both good. The service was excellent, and everyone was very attentive and always had our food cooking as soon as we cleared the grill. We valet parked which was $5 bucks in the back of the building, and wasn't a long wait at all. When we're back in LA will definitely be stopping by again.

It wasn't what we expected

We couldn't cook our own food Doesn't have many extras sides and the ones they give are small Meat quite fatty No wifi Only two toilets (one restroom for women and one for men) Super noisy The dumplings were good but overpriced Won't come back

Fun lunch!

By Terese C |

What a spot for Korean BBQ! Loved the table, the food was delicious, the service spot on. This place was different where the grill was in the middle of the table but the server actually cooked the food for you, still great; gave you a chance to just talk and eat continuously. Would recommend!!

Bad experience

By Frankie |

I’m not talking about the food but the owner’s attitude here. He was secretly filming his customers without their notices. Moreover, he even posted it on Instagram later and using rude words talking about them. Shame on him as a business runner and for using the celeb customers for clout!

A Korean Culinary Delight !!!

By AlanFromHermosa |

We'd been wanting to go to KTown to get some authentic Korean BBQ and my friend recommended Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong and boy am I glad he did !!! This place was OFF THE HOOK !!! We came for lunch on a Friday and arrived around 11:30. There was already a small line of people waiting for the restaurant to open. We got in pretty quickly and got right down to business. They have lots of a la carte meats but we opted to go with the Small Beef Combo at approx $50 (they also have a Pork Combo and both come in Small or Large sizes). They started us off with some cold tea and a delicious kimchi stew. That was followed by 3 different kinds of beef (all amazing) as well as countless side dishes including 2 salads (including kongnamul), a kimchijeon, corn, egg, vegetables, rice, etc. We also shared a Hi'te beer. We had our own personal waiter that cooked the meat for us and looked after our every need. Overall, it was an amazing culinary experience. The small Combo was plenty of food and we couldn't finish all of our food and even ended up taking some of the meat home. I LOVED this place and will definitely come back (I'm getting so hungry for this place just writing this review. If you're looking for a great place for BBQ in KTown this IS the place !!!

Focus on the food, not the loud music!

By MissCanadian |

Wow - the best Korean BBQ I've ever tried outside of Asia. If you like meat, this is a good place to go. We got the beef combo and it was well worth it. The meat was extremely tasty and tender. The best part of the experience was having someone cook everything for you so you don't end up overcooking your food like at normal Korean BBQs. LOVEDDDDDD the egg custard side that comes with meal. Never tasted egg so silky smooth. The other sides were ok - not that memorable. We came in the afternoon around 2ish but still had to wait. They don't take reservations so just be prepared to stand around. I wouldn't recommend bringing small children. The music is extremely loud (really not necessary) and the restaurant can get quite smokey. Will definitely come back on our next trip to LA!

Filled up on Korean BBQ

By TheLeongOhana |

We came at an odd time (weekday mid afternoon) and secured parking right in front of the restaurant. That has never happened before. This time we opted for indoor dining to avoid the splattering and smoking from the portable gas grill on the outdoor tables. The indoor grill table with the over head vent were designed to handle all the cooking. We ordered the meat combo. That was more than enough for three. On the table were two salads, soup, sides of japchae, sliced pancake, etc. when the grille was fired up they poured the scrambled eggs into the moat and that fluffed up nice and tasty. The staff cooked all the meats and cut them up as well. Juicy and tender meat. Grills were changed after each meat so that avoided burning. So full but satisfied.

Best Korean Barbecue that I have had.

By ttp620 |

This is a little more expensive than some of the places that I have been, but worth it. The cuts and the service were a little better. The staff did most of the cooking. The sides were a little difference and not as many. I missed the pickles and potato salad, but others were an upgrade. Overall, I recommend this place highly! Only negative is you smell like barbecue more than usual because it is busy and dense with grills.

Yummy but confusing

By tripptrapptrolololo |

The food was great. However, if you are not used to korean bbq and a shy person, don't bother coming here. The staff is so busy that you don't get instructions. So you just have to feel Secure with improvising. It's a bit expensive, dinner for two + beer = $ 65 but the food is good so i'm fine with that. Extremely high music and long waiting (1 hour) are som drawbacks. Would recommend for The food though!

Enjoyable first Korean BBQ experience

By dupetersentravel |

My wife and I spent a rainy afternoon here – full disclosure – we were Korean BBQ neophytes but had heard K-town was the place to try it and the reviews here were quite good (and accurate). It is confusing and the staff speaks little English but just go for it – we had two or three servers before we found one that helped us understand what to order and how to approach the meal. Beef sampler was excellent and I felt worth the money although it was $80 for the sampler for two plus 2 beers. At 2:00PM the place was fairly crowded and we had no wait. The setting is sparse but clean. We really enjoyed our meal and left filled and wanting to return to try more on the menu (now that we know a little more what to do).

My must have when in LA

By ruudv100 |

Every time I'm in LA this place is a must. My Korean-American friends introduced me to Korean BBQ, and this place is the best one I've sampled so far. My friends take care of the ordering, I just do the eating. Luckily there are a couple of BBQ spots in amsterdam these days, but none come close to the quality and experience you get here.

So much delicious food!

By thymetotravel999 |

This place is awesome! The food is so good and there's so much of it. The staff there are also fantastic. There were four of us and we ordered a large beef and small pork. The waiter told us that was too much food and to get two small orders. We did and we could barely finish both! It was very nice of him to tell us this, rather than let us order and not be able to eat all the food. They really want you to have a perfect experience there! The thinly sliced pork and beef were my favorite. And the soup was also very good. This place is extremely popular so expect to wair. But, it's well worth the wait. Go have a drink at Quarters while you wait - a bar and restaurant across the courtyard.

Great place great prices great food

By AMO |

What an amazing experience here. The food was just delicious and the service impeccable not once we had to ask for water or beverages as they are very attentive to details. Great place to visit

Fabulous Korean BBQ

By CaitlynsMom |

Cool location in the evening - so LA. Wait staff a little standoffish but the food makes up for it. They only serve BBQ at dinner with the typical Korean side dishes. The waiter cooks the BBQ at your table. We had the boneless short rib, sliced rib eye and spicy pork. In the table top barbecuer was space for eggs and veggies which got heated from the fire. All very yummy. Very trendy area and hipster type crowd.

Great evening

By esbech |

Had a great evening here with some colleagues and was helped by one of them being Korean, so we got expert help in ordering. All the various foods we got were delicious and the staff was helpful and fun. Would come back if I was in the neighborhood again.

Fun evening, Great Service!

By Felice R |

Visiting LA, and staying in Koreatown, we just had to try some Korean BBQ. We saw the good reviews and walked over, to find that the wait would be about an hour and a half. That was fine for us as we weren't quite hungry yet. Once we got seated we shared a long table with another group. Right away we ordered the beef set meal and an extra pork. The table was set up right away with all the side dishes. The meat came quickly and the servers started grilling the meat one at a time. Despite the business of the restaurant the servers were very attentive. I'd definitely give a shout out to Raymond, who was the main server for our group at the time. He definitely made sure we were all welcome and well fed and we were really impressed. The meat was really delicious and all the sides helped make the meal great! We ordered just enough for four ladies. And everything was fantastic. Would definitely come again when LA calls us back!

First stop in LA

By EKTravel15 |

I have tried many Korean BBQ places, my favorite to this day was the famous charcoal BBQ in NJ but this one beat it not just for the choices and quality of meat but for the side dishes, ambiance, service and fun. Heard from family locally that this is a great place, gathered my family to see just how good it was.. we got there early, right at 5 p.m., there was already a wait of an hour, they open at 5 but start taking names at 4:30. we got in 45 mins later, was seated at table full of side dishes and very interesting looking BBQ grill, I've seen them in Korean but not in US. choices of meat was almost overwhelming, had items I have not seen outside of Korea. decided to start with pork belly and pork shoulder then moved on to beef briskets. their bento box mixed rice is a must, not only does it taste amazing, it's fun to have them bring it out and shake it.. side dishes kept coming and kids love the egg and corn/cheese mix cooking on the side of BBQ grill. along with few bottles of soju, it was the best meal we had in LA. Serving staff was fantastic, best part is they do the cooking for you.. when we got out couple of hours later, the parking lot was packed and line was around the corner. we loved it so much, had to go back twice more before leaving town. prices are bit high side, glad we don't have one at home..

Great NON-AYCE Korean BBQ

By Thrillafromanila |

One of my favorite NON-AYCE KBBQ spot in K-Town! Definitely lived up to expectations! That Boneless Short Ribs were fantastic. Wish it was AYCE. We also got lucky and only had to wait 20 minutes so that probably enhanced the experience. We were also seated right by the window so we didn't have to deal with too much smoke. It's definitely pricier than the AYCE joints but its on par with the a la carte KBBQ spot with better quality meats. The service was also a lot friendlier. Kang Ho definitely makes it a point to hire staff with personality. Cheap beer and cold sake prices too. Will definitely be back when I'm feeling quality over quantity for KBBQ!

Great experience-good food!

By Eline H |

Got some recommendations from an uber driver to check out Korean bbq in LA. KHB is probably more expensive than other Korean places because cede were told the price was lower. Anyway, food and service were great. Art first the concept were difficult to get, since we never tried it before. We got a blank soup to drink, a cold kimchi pancake, crisp salad and different sources to mix. The waiter could have told us about the different food, but we sorted it our selves. There were allot of food for two people to share. Don't go crazy over the first meat, save some room for the next ones, they taste better. More tender, better quality. Waiter comes around from time to time to grill the meat. Would have been more fun to do it ourselves. Didn't have a chance to finish all the food. Mary and salad were delicious! If I were to go back I would have eaten only meat, mixed salad 22nd the sauces. Kimchi and soup weren't that interesting. Didn't know what to do with the boring boiled potato.. Will definetely recommend the place. Try to get a table outside, inside id's smoky from the grills, and you will go out from there smelling like a frying pan.

Good Korean BBQ experience

By birdy315 |

This restaurant draw my interest to try because of the "grill" ring. You can cook egg, cheese corn and veggie along cooking the meat. Not many restaurant has this type of grill design. I tried the beef combo and a side order of pork neck meat. They are all tasted great and the server did all the cooking for us so we can enjoy the food. As one of the most popular Korean restaurant in LA, recommend to visit before the peak hour. I also wait for 30 mins even I arrived the restaurant by 5. Beside the meat, try the "lunch box" and it Is interesting to see how the server shake the lunch box to mix the rice. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Delicious

By WalkingInLA |

We arrived at 11:30 and walked in. They don't take reservations. Food was good. 4 kinds of meat. They cook it for you. Sauces are delicious. Soup was good too. Valet parking was $5 in the back.

Loved it

We had a great time, best korean food restaurant choice. Service is really good and the food is simply amaizing. A must go.

UTTER INJUSTICE!

By Brian |

It was my friend's birthday, a group of 9 of us and we needed a restaurant that would stay open late so we could eat comfortably. It turns out, this was one of those places that was open on a Friday night. What I SHOULD HAVE expected, was that it WAS A FRIDAY NIGHT, IN KOREA-TOWN. OF COURSE, it was going to be packed and of COURSE the waiting time for a group of 10 was gonna be 1 hour... but I always plan ahead. :p I went in early, reserved a table and 45 minutes later, my friends showed up. They called us in and we seated. As soon as we walked in, I felt like I was in a movie scene. I was greeted by the people serving with a loud but kind welcoming greeting, followed by the amazing smell of food. To our surprise, they already had a bunch of different Korean dishes laid out on the table. We all sat down and were given menus and water. I liked that the person serving us (I believe it was Eunice, a cute Korean miss) presented herself, with her name, and ensured to serve us and recommended us what to get. Definitely great kudos for her presentation and customer service. It was a bit difficult to order due to the language barrier, but we were able to get it to work. I definitely recommend bringing a friend who is fluent in the Korean Language that they may help with any questions or ordering. Once we got our food, Eunice cooked our food for us and a male Korean Man came to our other side of the table and cooked the food for the other side. It was a great choice and they definitely helped in cooking the food for us. Our table of 4 got the beef special and the other table of 5 got the pork special. On our beef table, we started with the briskets, then thicker pieces, followed by the MOST AMAZING MARINATED GIANT BEEF PIECE. MOUTHWATERING. THE SALAD WAS SO GOOD! THE SOYBEAN STEW WAS AMAZING AS WELL! The food was overall delicious, and I liked the fact that they were small pieces and small bowls, I definitely love eating that way. The overall experience was wonderful in this restaurant, and I would definitely eat here again, however there are some points I want to point out as to why this wasn't a 5 star experience. 1. The Prices When I looked online, the prices were $9.99, 15.99, the most expensive being 24.99, then when I got there in person, most of the dishes were $30+. The only thing that was remotely reasonable WHEN COMPARED TO THE ONLINE PRICES was the last page on the menu where people could order small pieces of rice or soups. They really need to upgrade their online menu. In fact, it would just be easier for them to take a picture of their menu and post it online, that would be a better idea than having wrong prices. That being said, it was still reasonable, as a table of 4 was about $89+ so about $25 - $30 per person, and that is reasonable, considering it is a lot of food. 2. I wanted to surprise my friends by paying for all the food, so I secretly let the girl know about my hidden agenda and proceeded to give her my debit card without anyone noticing, and then when my friends asked for the check, the guy who cooked the food on the other side, said I paid for it, WHICH WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN, IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SECRET. ALL MY FRIENDS LOOKED AT ME IN SURPRISE, and they were all like, "NAHHHH" and I was raising my glass saying, "HAPPY BIRTHDAYYYYYYY". So here we are, having a good time and laughing.. until the lady comes and says my card didn't swipe. MY CARD, DIDN'T SWIPE. REALLY??!!!! Then my married friends turned around quickly, and said, "No worries, we were planning on paying for all of it anyways" and then everyone looked at them, and we all started laughing!!! LOL!! I think I'm gonna start carrying cash with me.

Very good!

A friend had recommended going to Kang Ho-Dong Baekjeong during my first and recent visit to LA. We went on a holiday Monday night at around 5pm. We were a group of 5 and as expected, it was quite busy. Our wait time was approximately 20 minutes. (They don't take reservations). Once seated we were able to order quickly and the traditional side plates were immediately available. I'm weak when it comes to spicy food, although I like to try/taste it anyways. Most of the side dishes were REALLY spicy, so be aware. It is Korean tradition to be quite spicy, so I wasn't surprised or anything. What I really like about their grill was that the edge comes with a section that steams egg while your meat is cooking and one section that has corn with melting cheese in it. You can roll your meat in either or and it really adds a great flavour. Also your meat juices can flow into both, making it super tasty! All our meats were delicious. Absolutely no complaints about the quality or preparation. We really enjoyed experiencing someone cook the meat on the grill in front of you. It's nice because they know how best to cook the meat. They also change the types of grills for each meat, ensuring each cut/type is prepared appropriately. Couple of negatives... While we really enjoyed the EDM that was playing, it was really too loud. We're young party goers, but for dinner conversation it was over the top loud. While the seats were comfortable, the table we had was too tight for 5 people. My biggest complaint would be that the fan above and those around our table didn't seem to be very effective. My seat was in direct line of the steam/smoke the whole dinner. I was constantly leaning to avoid the smoke while the server cooked as it made my eyes water. There wasn't anywhere I could move to avoid it. I've been to quite a few kbbqs before and don't recall any one seat having to endure that line of smoke so badly. Overall though, service was pretty quick and good. We really liked the steamed egg and the corn with cheese, and our server noticed that and kept refilling it for us. Attentive!

Great BBQ

By mrh16 |

I️ am not a fan of the pickled veggies and other side dishes but my family loved this experience and thought this place was better than their counterparts. A server helps tend the BBQ, turning the meat over when necessary which takes the guessing game from it.

Loved it!

By Karina O |

With so many options in Koreatown for BBQ, we were so glad we came here. We had an absolutely fantastic dinner here! I've been to several Korean BBQ places in a couple of different cities but I really enjoyed the spread of accompaniments offered in this place, particularly the cold pickled radish soup. That was just a delicious and refreshing palate cleanser. Kimchi here was delicious as well. We had a first timer with us that had never done Korean BBQ and I can tell this was absolutely a different experience for him that he fell in love with. Turned him into a fan of Korean BBQ!. The house sauce for dipping was delicious here and we appreciated that the server kept checking on us to make sure we nothing would burn or overcook. We would definitely recommend and come here again on our next trip to LA. One of the most enjoyable meals we had on our entire trip.

Real Korean, Very Busy.

By Victor A |

Parking behind the restaurant was way too packed, tho it looked like valet only, and we just parked on the curb just across the street. Came late hoping to avoid the crowds, but wow, even arriving at 9pm there was a quoted 1- 1.5 hour wait. Put our name and phone down, and went to a bar to pass the time, about 45 minutes later we came back to check, but no luck. In total we waited about an hour, and while the seating staff were not rude they were not polite, just efficient. Once seated the server was nice, and laid out our options, smiled and took care of us. It was a little noisy in there but we carried out a conversation fine. PUT ALL THAT ASIDE. Food was delicious, and the quantity was huge, we were so full, and in addition, coming from someone who as been to Korea multiple times, this was an authentic experience, as close to Korea as you could get without going there. The food quality far outweighed any of the small negatives.

Another Kang Hodong Win!

By SHARMAND3R |

While in LA for a concert, my friend and I wandered down to K-town in search of some KBBQ. We'd enjoyed Kang Hodong's chicken restaurant in Myeongdong (Seoul) and decided to try his KBBQ restaurant in the States. We really enjoyed our experience: the meat was incredibly flavorful, the side dishes were tasty, and the service was good. Another win for Kang Hodong! (They also had our favorite band playing over the speakers while we were there - another plus.)

Terrible service, rude and pointless

By TOSOTC |

We arrived at 4:30pm on a cold Monday night. The place was maybe a quarter full, and they clearly had plenty of tables free. My friend didn't have a coat, but the waitress demanded we stand outside in the rain. I think, because my friend was a celebrity, the waitress wanted her to be seen. We asked if we could just wait inside since it was cold. Five minutes later, she was still pushing us outside when there was clearly space to stand inside, and space to seat us. It was 4:30pm. On a Monday. Incredibly rude. We left.

Definitely worth the wait!

By Catherine M |

This Korean BBQ has a fixed price all you can eat menu. The meats were excellent! Really liked the kimchi fried rice. We will definitely come here again!

We weren't impressed

By Angela Q |

I wasn't impressed. My friend and decided to dine here based off the good reviews on yelp. When we got there, it took forever for our waiter to come after we were seated. He didn't seem friendly or helpful. Also, the lady who was cutting our meat seemed aloof & rude. The food was good, but we found it rather pricey, considering that the service was lackluster & its not all you can eat. We couldn't even cook our own food--which is pretty traditional of KR bbq restaurants (they probably design it this way so they can demand a tip!). Lastly, the lady who was cooking our meat barely spoke a word to us, until she found out we didn't leave a tip. She was basically forcing us to leave her a tip & we felt harrassed. I dont know about other customers, but I refuse to tip/reward bad service. I've dinned at different KR bbq spots for over 5 yrs, so I know what to expect. This place was among my least favorite. I won't be back, nor will I recommend it to others. From now on I will stick with Gen BBQ, both their food & service is superb!

Best Korean outside of Korea

By MCH |

Long lineup even you called for reservation. But it’s so worth the wait. The 3 of us ordered seasoned prime boneless short ribs, beef tartare, cold noodle All of amazing quality and quantity. The meal comes with thinly sliced radish, you eat it with seaweed and kimchi, it’s heavenly! I wonder if the beef in Korea could top this one? Truly great food, my tummy thanked me!

Fantastic Fun Meal

By MMouseMD |

Took my daughter, niece, and roommate. Seated within 10 minutes at 7PM on Friday evening. Waitress explained the situation, helped us order the family meal combination.Lots of great beef, different kinds, all cooked at the table. Tasty sides, with a guide on the table as to what everything was. Kimchistew was not too spicy, lots of tofu. Salads and other picked veggies also very good. Great meal, fun atmosphere, music alittle loud.

Best korean bbq

From service to quality of dish and side dish. Best Korean food I've had. We had 2 small families seating was convenient and close.

Authentic Korean Food

By Jd1914 |

Went for the buffet but they require a minimum of two people for the buffet. The restaurant was full and it appears that everyone was there for the buffet. Too bad I was traveling solo. I tried the Oxtail soup. It was delicious and very reasonably priced to be oxtail.. The portion was good as well. Next time I will bring someone along for the buffet

A different kind of Korean BBQ

By melobeam |

The Skinny- Parking: tiny lot behind 6th street Decor: concrete floor, smoky air Restroom: somewhat clean single Service: abrupt Food: different but tasty Coke Factor: can, plastic glass Price: $$$ I have been going to Soot Bull Jeep so long that I have gotten used to their style of Korean food. Since I have not been to Korea, who knows what is the most traditional. Today we tried KangHoDong Baek Jeong and there was a line at 1220p. It only took 20 min to get a table and the place is smoky so don't wear anything you cherish. The table is already set with goodies: scallion pancake - yummy cold soup - too sour for me salad - excellent dressing cooked kabocha pumpkin - tasty topping but slightly bland pumpkin bean sprouts- covered in hot sauce, very hot and spicy kimchee- hot marinated short rib- sooooooooo goooooooood spicy pork - not too spicy, very good egg custardy app - tasted just like scrambled eggs corn cheese app- not appealing rice- standard sticky Overall I was pleased but it is a bit pricey however that doesn't deter me from bringing others to share. It was 90% Korean customers by the way!

Terrific Food!

By KatieB1216 |

The food here was unbelievable. The wait was long, but the host was accurate. The wait staff were very efficient, but impolite. Good far outweighs the waitstaff though!

Great Food, Excellent Value, but long wait

By JCorina |

Visited Kang Hodang Baekjeong on 13 September with colleagues. Had a bit of difficulty in locating the entrance, as it is located in a building with a inner courtyard and the entrance was facing the courtyard, which at night we didn't notice immediately. We arrived at 7pm and already had a queue. Our wait was around 45 mins or so. The hostess upfront was nice and friendly, but it didn't help that we were hungry. Whilst there is another Korean BBQ place nearby, none was as busy as Kang Hodang, so we reckon that we are in the right place to have Korean BBQ. Had a pork set for $51.99, amongst 3 of us. Was more then plenty of meat to share. The banchans were good, except I'm not sure if they are refillable - had a waitress that said no refills, yet when we asked another waitress for a refill, she did so happily. The meat was as good as in Korea, but the only stark difference is the lack of lettuce & perilla leaves to wrap the meat. Instead they gave us a bowl of salad. Otherwise, ambience was okay - nothing to write home about. The music could be softer to the ears, but I guess that was purposely done so, so that the diners would eat and leave the premises, instead of lingering on. When we left at 9.15 pm, there was still people queuing up to enter. Great food, good value and would come again, but either much earlier or later.

Best KBBQ I've ever eaten!

By Dawn Z |

I came here because I heard a lot of good things about the place and I am more than pleased after eating here! We ate on a Sunday at around 9pm and we didn't have to wait long to be seated. The chairs were awesome because they're also storage bins. I placed my jacket in there so it wouldn't smell like kbbq. The place is very authentic. There was even a server that helped us cook our meat. The quality of the meat is also great. Steak quality kbbq! Couldn't forget about it even after the next day. My favorite was getting the lunchbox! Valet parking was only $3 so it's very convenient.

Very rude server! Worst ever experience. Never coming back

By Andrew F |

Worst ever experience. The server was rude to us asking about our table. His name is Sung. There are other places to eat. I am never coming back here. Their bad service reputation is real. Stay away guys

LA's best Korean BBQ restaurant...

By Steve G |

My Korean business associates know how much I love Korean food here in NY and told me flat out, we were going to have the best Korean BBQ beef and pork belly LA had to offer and they were spot on. The beef combo of short ribs and ribeye, were marintaed melt in your mouth perfection. The think slabs of pork belly, even better and all cooked to prefection by an over attentive wait staff, that did all they could to make our experience just great. Excellent traditional banchan with two different types of kimchee, egg w/cheese, hot and cold soups and even black rice for dessert. The only thing better were the Soju bombs! We had no wait arriving at 9pm, but even if you have to wait an hour, this place is the LA bomb and an absolute must.

Korean barbecue at its best

By Adinel T |

The staff is attentive at the edge of just utilitarian, the menu is short and concise, the ingredients quality is top notch. Bonus points - excellent ventilation, you won't get out of the place smelling like spending a whole day cooking 😊

Lives up to expectations

By Mac9 |

This was our first Korean bbq so we selected a highly rated restaurant and were not disappointed. The wait for our mid week dinner was 45 min-found a bar around the corner and returned able to be seated. The waiter quickly discovered we were novices and provided excellent guidance and recommendations. We selected the 3 meat package and found the quality and quantity to be very good. The room is loud, smoky and a lot of fun. The service was exceptional-the waiter took a lot of time with us and it truly enhanced our bbq experience. This was one of our most memorable dinners in LA.

A good moment. Pleasure of the table and the palate.

By damien |

Modern restaurant. Quality and abundant food. Friendly staff. Fast service. Lots of flavor, and the meat was very tender.

Unique Korean BBQ

By DRAGONO H |

We were queing for 1hour before we can get a table. They accept walk in only. This is by far one of the best Korean BBQ in LA beside Genwa. They have superb meat with differrent kind of ingredients which makes it super delicious. Trully a must try when you are in Los Angeles. Very fun dining here!

As good as it gets

By Mark P |

This is by far the best Korean BBQ restaurant that I have tried in the US...even better than many in Seoul. Be ready to wait an hour or more, but it is worth every minute. Order the Yang Nyum Galbi (marinated beef rib). They will cook it at the table and, if you haven't tried it before, they will teach you how to eat it. Fantastic!!!

Amazing Experience!

By TDM63 |

The quality of meat was excellent. It was authentic. It was fun. And while there is a BBQ in the middle of the table, we didn't leaving smelling like BBQ, yet all the senses were fully engaged. Overall the food and experience was so good that I can't stop thinking about it. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Superb Korean BBQ!

By oklahomatornadoes |

I went to Kang Hodong for dinner, as a local friend personally vouched for the establishment as the best Korean BBQ restaurant in LA. He was not wrong. While the food was a little pricey, the quality delivered. The beef and the pork were so tender and had some amazing marbling. Every single bite just melts in your mouth and you keep wanting more. The side dishes were great too, especially that salad! Yum! Big shout-out to Mushroom, who expertly cooked all the meat for us!

great experience

By Kyle K |

super fun experience at this Korean BBQ restaurant. each table has it's own kitchen hood as the grill is centered in the table. the marinated pork collar was the best pieces of meat and it wasn't overpriced. expect long waits on the weekends.

Great experience

By Brenda L |

We dropped by for a late lunch with our kids, 4 and 8 during our trip to L.A. This was not our first Korean BBQ but this felt more authentic. The servers do all the cooking and there is a leaflet to help newbies. It wasn't exactly service with a smile but the food was great and the service was quite acceptable. Very casual place. Note that the entrance in from the courtyard of the mall. For those with egg allergies: must mention it to the host/hostess. The table is already set up with egg in one of the compartments of the grill.

City of Angels

By MrWarrenM |

This is where I had my first meal in LA. I was craving Korean BBQ and I heard that Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong in LA’s Koreatown was the place to go. I got there when it opened, so I didn’t have that long of a wait. The price is more expensive than other Korean BBQ, but so worth the money. I ordered a small combo good enough for 2-3 people. My server took care of cooking the Meat and side dishes for me so I could sit back and enjoy the food. They do an excellent job with cooking the Meat. All the side dishes tasted fresh and delicious. Because this isn't all you can eat, the Meat tastes way better. Definitely come here if you're looking for a unique Korean BBQ experience. Just be prepared for a possible long wait.

Excellent - you will leave smelling like BBQ though

By JasonArroyo |

Orgasmically good would be an accurate way to describe the experience at Kang Ho-dong Baekjeong. There are already about a billion other reviews, so there is not much need other than to say that if you happen to be in LA, come on down. A few tips: 1. Don't plan on taking a hot date to Kang Ho-dong Baekjeong, unless you are interested in making out with the smell of Korean BBQ. Because he/she will smell like BBQ meat at the end of your meal. Like literally every part of their body and clothing. Now if that's your thing... 2. Let the wonderful staff take over the cooking process for you. They do a terrific job, and your happy hands will only get in the way of their work.

So Authentic - You could be in Seoul

By D0rindaW |

The exterior and the interior decor is as if you walked into a restaurant located on a side street in Seoul. The table and chair set-up is rustic. A concentric circle surrounding the grill is for cooking a liquid egg mixture, etc. The best part of this meal is the meat selection and the unusual sides (unlike sides at other typical Korean restaurants). The food was great, the authentic ambiance was a surprise and the best part was the atypical way the food was served and presented. For all those that told us they waited 1.5-2 hours for a table, I think it was worth the wait...we waited 20 minutes because we arrived at 4:30.

Tasty and reasonable $$

By ashamta |

We came here to eat Korean bbq. We order jr combo but it was more than plenty for two adults!! They cook for you also. Meats are so fresh and no smell!! It was really pleasant! Our waiter was nice but when the shift changed, the guy took our waiter's shift keep coming back and force to check whether we are already put our $ or credit card. It wasn't crowded. Except our waiter, other waiter and waitress were not so friendly ...I still give 5 because foods are excellent and our first waiter was nice!(he was tall and handsome too!!)

Unimpressive Korean fare

By Stephen S |

Because this place advertises itself as authentic Korean I will review it as such. So this is in comparison to what you would find in Seoul as opposed to Korean/American joints. I've spent quite a bit of time in Seoul. This can not even compare to a small dingy restaurant there. And you are paying prices of good quality Korean beef for this cheap American beef. The cost for 3 of us was 170 dollars including drinks, beef set and 4 side dishes. This is a ridiculous price considering atmosphere and quality of food. The spicy kimchi soup tasted like tomato soup.. The marinated beef tasted like pure high fructose corn syrup. The short ribs were good. The pancake did not taste like the haemul pajeon you find in Korea, I felt they just used normal flour. It was hard to eat because they just put those cheap whole green onions in it... 15 dollars for this shamefully small pancake with very little seafood. Relatively few side dishes. I don't usually rate service but here they did not treat us very courteously. I am treated much better in Korea and they don't tip there. Here when they brought the bill they said twice make sure to put the tip down first (but this is because most of their patrons are Korean/Chinese who if they haven't been in America long might not tip because it is not their custom).

Great food

By YHamburger |

We went there on a Tuesday evening around 7. We didn't wait but later our waitress told us we were really lucky because there are normally 1-1.5hr wait for table even on a weekday. We had a beef combo and it tasted delicious. The meat quality was good. And the sauce was so yummy! We didn't do any of the cooking. Everything as done by our waitress which was great. The only thing about the restaurant is the music is super loud, we literally have to shout to each other. And the waitress bought the bill without us asking which is not a big deal because there was a long queue outside. We feel we were being rushed. I think we will go for a more relaxed Korean bbq restaurant next time as there are tons of similar restaurants around.

Very yummy korean beef BBQ

By zwso |

Must try Marinated boneless short ribs, staffs served all BBQ food, lunch box is yummy and I like Tofu spicy soup very much!

It was like being in Korea!

By sun p |

I've heard so much about this place so we headed straight there when we got to L.A. the pork belly was excellent and the yukhwe was delicious. I will definitely go back. But it would be five stars for me if they would put a little less sugar in the food. The noodle, bean sprouts and the sauce were too sweet for me. Those who have a tendency to have an elevated level of sugar in the blood will appreciate it too , I'm sure!

Great place to try Korean BBQ for the first time (and any time!)

By P_K_Richardson |

This joint was recommended by a friend to hit while we were in LA looking for some Korean BBQ. They don't take reservations, so we went down understanding that there would be a wait, but there are plenty of places near by to have a pre-dinner cocktail (see review for Quarters as well :)) We had a party of 5, most of whom had tried Korean BBQ before, one who hadn't (and wasn't an adventuresome eater) - we promised her it would be meat and rice and she agreed to come along (and she loved it... btw). We were originally told it would be a 45 minute wait, gave our phone number for paging, and were called back in roughly 30 minutes. The place is boisterous and not awesome for private convos as there is a lot of activity happening all around (typical Korean BBQ - with the cooking happening in the center of your table). They had clever chairs in this crowded restaurant to throw your coat/handbag/backpack whatever into while you ate) Our most experienced Korean BBQ eater (actually a gent originally from Korea) ordered for the table meat, meat and more meat, as well as some Korean wines for the table (higher alcohol content, so you drink them from a shot glass, one very sweet and strong Raspberry-ish, and another more 'beer like' - I am a wine drinker, and was a little skeptical of a sweet wine, but it was delish if you take it for what it is and don't expect a merlot!) dumplings to start. We were never lacking for food, as the waiter started cooking our meats pretty quickly (they step in to help, hence why this is a good place for beginners) and were always refilling our side dishes. The corn and egg cooking in the side burners was also yummy. In the end, we had a delish meal, and for 5 people only spent ~$200 (which for an LA business trip is CHEAP cheap). Would definitely go again with a big party - what fun!

Delicious, but ventilation is a real problem!

By onep39 |

Dinner with a large group and the BBQ was stellar. Beef was thick and juicy and the sides kept coming and were delicious. Service is also excellent here, they always make you feel at home. Everything was great, but the ventilation in this restaurant is really a problem. There was so much oily smoke blowing in our guest's direction that they were visibly uncomfortable during the first few minutes of cooking the beef. This is the only reason why 5 stars were not given. Otherwise, a great place to satisfy your hunger in a fun and loud place!

better know what you are doing

By LDWG |

Food cooked at your table by attentive staff. Menu is not very descriptive and our waiter/chef spoke minimal English, clientele almost exclusively Koreans. Very authentic experience, probably not a good choice for those unfamiliar with this cuisine.

Great Korean BBQ Restaurant

By SgtBuffy |

Once you've eaten here, you'll understand why this restaurant is always so busy. The quality of their meats and the variety of banchan is exceptional. Plus, the servers help you slice the steak and meats and grill them for you. We ordered the Beef Combo and the Ribeye was delivered to our table whole so that you can see just how fresh it is. The room does get smoky, but that's a small price to pay for such a satisfying meal. Highly recommended for those who enjoy some good quality KBBQ! Their address is listed as 3465 W. 6th Street, but the entrance is actually located on Kenmore Avenue.

Excellent beef and pork bbq

By Zhiephs |

Recommend by friend to eat at this restaurant. queue for 1 hour but its really worth. we order beef and pork, and both of the meat is really good with their special sauce (there's a wasabi mix). The best food that we eat at Los Angeles so far.

Best KBBQ EVER!!!!

By teresa |

My friends and I went here on a weekday and we ended up waiting 2h because our party size was 7. Nonetheless, the wait was so worth it! We got 2 beef combos and they were more than enough. The meat was so tender and tasty and cooked to perfection! The sides were delicious and they kept them coming. Friendly service and we only paid 35$ each with tax and tips. I would highly recommend this place even if the wait is long because it will pay off!!

BEST nonAYCE KOREAN BBQ IN LA!

By Rose C |

wow. Totally worth the hype and definitely worth the 1.5 hour wait. I have never ever waited over 40 minutes for a seat in LA, ever. 3 hours for ramen in NY, yes. Luckily, you can write your name down and they'll call you when your table is ready. This means you can pre-game at Toe Bang for 2 hours, lol. win-win, right? The Grill - Damn Koreans have finally perfected the "grill." The grills here cooks the meat in the center and on the bottom, they're divided into three partitions. One steams the egg, the other heats the corn cheese, and the last partition is for grilled veges. The Banchan - Not a huge variety but each dish was awesome. I love that you get unlimited bindaetteok/mung bean pancake () and that cold roasted pumpkin was excellent. Also love their green onion salad with soy bean sprouts with a dash of gochujang/ (hot pepper paste). I've never seen that variety and it was soo good. Also, their meat dipping sauce was soooo DELISH! It was sweet, vinegary, and a tad bit spicy with their jalapeños. The Meat - You get three varieties of meat and a good portion for the price of the combo. The order they give it to you is: brisket, rib eye, and the short rib. My favorite was the marinated boneless short rib. The marinade was sweet and so flavorful. It was excellent. The other two were great quality, too, but the short rib was the true star for me. The Service - Couldn't have been more perfect. The servers are extremely nice, they cook your meat, they refill your side dishes, they change your grill, and they even pack your leftovers for you. All you really have to do is just eat because they just take care of everything. They have the call buttons at each table and this was the first time I NEVER used it! They're so attentive. The Parking - Parking in Chapman Plaza sucks. There's so many cars in the small little plaza it can be quite a nightmare waiting for your car. I almost always find street parking so since you know you got time to kill, try driving around the block 10 times. I LOVE this place! Definitely is my go-to right now!

Great BBQ

Wanted to love it

By Laura K |

Ah, I desperately wanted to love this place. It was good, but it just wasn’t what I was hoping to find. Between the pushy server and okay food, I left unsatisfied, especially as this would be our only foray into the bliss that is LA Korean food. Before you knock this place off your list, however, you should know that this place was packed with locals, who loved it. They knew what to expect and it was exactly what they wanted. The front door of the restaurant is located inside a square of shops, which is pretty cool, but also difficult to find if you’re a first-timer. Once we made it through the entrance of the square, however, it was obvious where the restaurant was located - a huge crowd was waiting outside. But our wait was only 30 minutes, which seemed incredibly lucky for a Saturday night. When we were finally sat, we waited a while for service. The servers here are also the cooks for each of their tables, so it’s understandable that our server was simply too busy to see us immediately. She wasn’t interested in the niceties and expected us to have a clue what we wanted as soon as she arrived. No problem, I already had most of it figured out, but a little assurance would’ve been nice. Wasn’t going to happen, though. The beer/water/food arrived in intervals, brought out by a variety of folks. Besides bulgogi, I’d been really looking forward to the traditional side dishes and couldn’t wait to introduce them to my husband. Unfortunately, this place doesn’t really do all of that. There are some sides, but they’re really meant to be added to the meat roll up they direct you to make. It’s also tasty, but, again, I’d been looking for something a bit different. It was all really good - great cuts of meat, the kimchi pancake was amazing, and the whole experience was fun. It’s crowded for a reason.

A feast of fresh meats cooked at your table

By kma5000 |

When seated at a table you may think the meal has already begun. A half-dozen dishes of salad, noodles with sauce, onions floating in a brown sauce (wasabi) on the edge, kimchee, and a few others. We ordered the combo - choice of 4 meats. The server set them all down on the edge of the table in their raw state. It was great to see the quality and freshness of the food before being cooked. The server turned on the gas and cooked brisket in the center of our table. When we finished he cooked the ribs, and finally the ribeye. Dipping sauces and other spices made this meal very special.

Amazing Food, Fun Experience

By Readingandeating |

After seeing rave reviews on tripadvisor we decided to try Korean BBQ for the first time. They do not take reservations. We went late afternoon on a weekday and sat quickly but it was full. You make a few selections and they pretty much take care of the rest. They grill the meat in front of you and surround it with interesting side dishes, salad and sauces to dip. You have to ask for a drink, they automatically give you water. It is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. We were three people and shared the small for a set price. It was brisket, prime rib and something else I can't remember. We ate every last bite. It is fresh and scrumptious and unique experience. Would definitely eat there again.

This place is awesome!! The wait can get pretty crazy here, but it is sure worth it. The rice lunch box is pretty good. The best Korean place I've tried by far. Everyone is pretty nice here too!

Fun and loud.

By Charlie Q |

My first time with K BBQ. Very enjoyable, and everything was tasty. Service helpful and efficient. Loud music, I prefer opera in the background, but who cares?

Crazy experience!

By 529c_dricp |

My first korean bbq dinner. The food was very good: the beef was so tender (especially the rib eye) and full of flavour. Korean bbq is fun. The music is loud, there is plenty of food for a very low price and it seems that it is the kind of food you eat before you go out clubbing. We enjoyed ourselves and ate so much - maybe too much? Unfortunately the comunication between me and the waitress (which grilled our meet) wasn't so succesfull. The result: one steak after the other was grilled in a quite small period of time, which was in a very funny way stressfull. Nevertheless, it was a crazy, funny and good dinner. This restaurant is great, especially if you know what to expect.

The Standard for Korean BBQ

By Robert T |

We arrived early and after making a few passes around Koreatown looking for a place to park decided to valet in the plaza at the front entrance to the restaurant. Good decision. KHB validates the parking and for $2 it saves a whole lot of aggravation. There was a large group outside waiting for tables. We were told the wait was 40 minutes and 40 minutes later we got a call. The star here is the excellent food. We had the beef combo for 3-4 which included brisket, two large rib eye steaks and marinated boneless short rib. The meal started with a soup. The server then placed corn with cheese, vegetables and egg in compartments around the grill. Meat is grilled to perfection at the table by the attentive servers. We wondered what was up with a pair of scissors and we soon found out it was to cut the steaks into bite size pieces. All the meat was of the highest quality very marbled. The servers replenished the sides and attentively looked after the grilling process. What a great dining experience and the bar has been set high for other Korean BBQs.

Best Korea pork BBQ

By Arthur K |

Damn I love this place. I'm getting hungry just writing this review. This is a must stop for me when I head into LA. I always get the pork special with the spicy pork option. I've heard some complaints about the beef combo here but I've never had it so don't really know. My favorite is the side trays where the pork fat renders into all the goodness on the side. Unlike most Asian places, the service here is pretty damn good. They come by and actually cook the meat for you so that it's perfect. The flavor and fat content of the meat is amazing. I love the pork neck the best.

Fraud! Double credit card billing!

By Mister.Marken |

We were charged twice on different days with different amounts at this restaurant! We paid our visit on 27 June. Then they charged us again on the 28 June for a different amount! Watch out, they are thieves!

Korean BBQ worth a visit.

By juwanuno |

This place is semi new to the k town BBQ scene. But it's a franchise that's doing great around the world. First time here, I went straight for the pork combo. Awesome. Some of the most tender pork I've had. Def worth stopping by. But get here early because parking and seating is a nightmare.

We loved this experience

By PattyG76 |

For me dining out must be an experience... we loved this place! We told them, this is our first time trying corean food, and they walked us through their way The table was full of shareable plates, and this place have in the center of the table, a gas stove; they cook the meats for you in the middle of the table! It was awesome, the umami, the taste and the experience was great! We loved it Bon appétit Enjoy!

Interesting Experience

By fkendell |

Wife and friends had Sunday lunch. Found the meat to be some of the most tender meat I have ever eaten, and the sauces what I would expect very good. We did not get any help from server so we had to rely on the pictures. What we didn't like was that the vents did not seem to operate and the smoke from our Bar-B-Que seem to go after my wife. We both smelt like a smoke as we left. Lots of young 20 something looking people enjoying themselves. Restaurant entry is not on 6th avenue but in the area between 6th and 5th. May not go again but only because of the 90 minute drive.

Burbank Branch

By David H |

The food was great and the waiter was great. It should get a perfect 5 star score. Instead, the Burbank branch has a very rude waitress who impolitely questioned me why I took photos in the store. I have been taking photos at many restaurants and never have a restaurant service person questioned my photo taking behaviors in my life.

Best Korean BBQ ever!

By Erik V |

If you can find the time to wait for up to two hours for a table it's well worth it. The service is immaculate, the food is excellent, everything you expect and more. This restaurant takes Korean BBQ to a whole different level.

Great place

By Hannah Le |

This was a lot of fun as a dinning experience. We went for lunch, there was a wait of 15 mins but it was worth it. Very efficient service. The only problem was we ate far too much!

A unique food experience, lively and loud location

By Baris Ö |

Where to start? The restaurant is located in a hub of korean restaurants, in the nice part of Koreatown. Many young people frequent this popular area. We were seated at a round table, although only being 2 people. Nice with the extra space, but also diffocult to hear eachother due to a big and crowded room with laughter and people chatting. We chose the beef combo, recommended by the friendly waitress. It was enough to satisfy two people she said. The beef and all the ingredients are cooked on your table! By the waitress! This is a unique experience. She was very helpful in how to eat the food also - explaining each step of making a small roll with the veggies and super tasty meat, which had been marinated to perfection. It has a special “korean” flavor to it. All in all a super experience, things to be aware of: it is a bit noisy, and you may wait 30 minutes to be seated. Other than that - it really took our LA experience up a notch!

Meat eaters UNITE!

By cw8289 |

We landed in LA in the early evening Thursday night for a quick long weekend vacation. Our first stop was checking in at the hotel and then we headed off for taco's at El Chato. We were deciding what to do and since we were still a bit hungry we thought why not go for some Korean. We were meeting some friends at Genwa later on our trip so we thought we would try a place we'd never been to before. Which is where Kang Ho Dong comes into this story. The restaurant is located in courtyard mini strip mall. We valet'd the car because parking was atrocious as expected but you gotta love the cheap valet in LA. The wait was a decent 15 mins when we got there which was sometime after 9pm. I'm sure this place has a serious wait at a more typical eating time so I would just be prepared. We sat in the little "outdoor" area which was a little quieter than the inside but the bbq meat smell was intoxicating. Since we already had some food earlier, we didn't get the combo's but we did order prime boneless short rib and the premium pork belly from the a la carte menu. Came with kimchi pancake, bean sprout salad, soup, lettuce, kimchi, sauce etc. Not a crazy amount of banchan but they were all good. The grill has different compartments. One was for egg that cooks while you bbq, cheese corn and some other veg. The meats arrived and it was quite a bit of food for 2 people. The servers took over the cooking and cutting. The quality of the meat was the best I've had in LA and in Canada. The beef was really good, very tender and great cuts of meat. The pork belly was even better. With a little bit of salt, kimchi and some lettuce wrap, you don't need anything else. There's a lot of comparison of this place with AYCE places but in terms of quality this place is way ahead. I would rather have quality over quantity. We still talk about how good the meal was now and are dying to go back next time we're in LA. You should give it a go too.

Genuine and authentic

By Tunaidi |

Best Korean BBQ ever! Is that too bold of a statement? There are so many different kinds of meats offered at Kang Hodong Baekjeong, and combos give you the option of trying more variety at a cheaper price. You honestly can't go wrong with any of the meats. The banchan here is unique and gourmet. The grill is sexy, allowing for slow-cooked eggs and cheese corn. The prices are very reasonable. The wait is a stinker, but this place is still the bomb!

Korean Barbeque – Tasty and Fun

By Ed D |

This was my first experience with Korean Barbeque, and I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. What a fun place to eat. Our waiter cooked our meal at/on our table, but as I looked around, the more experienced patrons were cooking their own food at their table. Our waiter/chef was friendly and attentive. We did wait about 40 minutes for a table, but we walked across the street and had a drink at another Korean establishment. Well worth the wait.

Disappointed will not recommend

By Nenelala |

The restaurant is smoky around. The meat look like open a package from supermarket. Then, they grill it for you and charge. It has no taste at all. No traditional small dishes. They only got Kim chi. Kim chi pancake and bean spout. The combo meal for beef cost at $67 for 3 people. Pork combo at $57. I would not recommend this place.

Good quality Korean BBQ

Service quick and efficient, food portions are quite generous, on steak portion can feed 2 small eaters. Taste is great.

Reunion Supurb

By Jaschaaf |

Perfect place to reunite with family we hadn't been with for nearly five years! We had brisket and short ribs, potatoes and rice, sake and beer. Brought back fond memories of our family and also of food from the orient years gone by. Try it you'll love it!

Great place for Korean Food~

By annagevor |

The food is amazing, but be prepared to wait (up to few hours) and be ready for noise inside. The crowd is very loud and it is hard to have a conversations sometimes, there is also music playing. However, this will let you focus on the food and enjoy it. The bathrooms are not the cleanest, the sitting area is slightly crowded. I would return here for the food, but probably not during dinner time or weekend. We have 3 meat plates to BBQ and there were 8 of us. It was plenty of food. With that said, be also prepared for the smoke as may tables will be bbq'ing. I recommend this place to try, at least once.

Amazing array of entrees and exceptional service.

By arleneb5900 |

I had such a great dining experience at this restaurant ! I loved the food here and the excellent professional service given by the waitstaff. Such a wide array of entrees and it was great to bring the family here for a wonderful korean meal. The family style meal we ordered was cooked to perfection and there was an ample amount of food served to us. Our water glasses were filled quickly. The presentation of the food served was gorgeous. It is one of the best Korean restaurants I have ever dined in. I am sure we shall return on my next trip to Los Angeles.

Excellent Food and Energy!

By Ana Marie L |

You will find the entrance to Kang Ho-dong Baekjeaong along with other restaurants/shops (Quarters KBBQ, Toe Bang, a small clothing boutique, and a dessert shop) inside of a wide alleyway. Very cool and bustling area! Tons of people waiting around for a table. We decided to put our name on both Kang Ho-dong and Quarters' waitlists. Kang Ho-dong goes a step further than Quarters by sending customers a text when your table is ready. Quarters called our name first, but we decided to wait for Kang Ho-dong, which took about 50 mins. or so. The wait was worth it! We ordered the small beef combo w/ short rib, I believe. The meat was so tender and the sauce was good (kind of vinegary/soy saucey). The combo came with rice, soup, and all you can eat banchan, my fave of which was the green onion/soy bean combo. The ambiance was electric (that's the only way I can describe it) w/ electronica music playing. The service was the best I've had in a KBBQ joint. We really enjoyed the whole experience. The only minor critiques I have are with the soup that came with our combo (the flavor was not very good...too tomatoey?...and I generally love ALL soup) and the lack of variety in banchan (believe the combo only came with 3 or so options?).

Good but not impressed

By JLlovetravel |

Good: The food was good. Bad: The wait was long and they don't give you a lot of food. They cook it for you so you don't really have the full experience. I don't think I will go back.

Amazing Korean BBQ

By Joe R |

This is a great place to take a date. Outside patio tables better since the inside is kind of smoky. We got the beef menu, but next time want to try the pork. Always crowded so put your name in and have a drink nearby. They will text your phone when your table is ready. A little on the expensive side, but they give you a lot of food. Can't wait to go back.

Good Korean BBQ

By Nari L |

It's pretty good. But not AMAZING. We ordered the pork combo. We wanted to try this place since everyone has been raving about it. I think it was way over hyped for us which is probably why were a bit disappointed. Maybe without the hype, we would have thought this place would be just as amazing as everyone says it is. The meat is good, it's not bad. Just overhyped. I personally thought the samgyupsal was a bit chewy for me. I think I prefer thin cut samgyupsal over the thick cut. But I did like the marinated pork. Maybe because it was more of a thin slice. The side dishes were all good. I loved the kongnamool (soy beans sprouts) with green onions to eat with the meat as well as everything else that comes with it. The dongchimi gookmool was AMAZING! Also, the 4 us shared the pork combo that's for 2 people. And we were STUFFED. We also got 2 lunchboxes to share which was actually MORE than enough. We should have just ordered one lunchbox and shared between the 4 of us. The lunchbox was nothing special. I mean, the idea that it's in an old school tin lunch box was cool. But the taste was just average. I personally thought the service was pretty good. They were prompt and fast with whatever request I put in. All in all, it was a good experience. We came here at 4PM and there was no wait. We left at 530 and there was already a huge line on a Sat night. I recommend you come early and take your time eating.

Delicious and fun for serious carnivores

By Flyingpig |

Went for an early dinner so avoided a long wait (just 5 minutes). We had brisket and pork belly. One of us doesn't eat red meat so he ordered "bean stew". Unfortunately, we should have asked rather than assume that bean stew would be meat free. It wasn't. At all. So non-mammal eaters beware. But the rest of us were quite happy with the meat-fest that cooks up so nicely on the charcoal fires. Washed this all down with a bottle of rice wine and had a tasty and reasonably priced meal. Some other reviewers have complained of the smoke--this comes with the territory: go to a Korean BBQ you are going to come out smelling like cooked meat. The wait staff were friendly and helpful.

Fantastic experience and food!

Had a truly great time at the restaurant! We got the pork sampler (highly recommend) and shared some Korean beer. Will definitely come back next time I'm in LA

Popular spot but wasn't for me

By ginaK |

This place famous Korean BBQ chain and you always see the line ups and they don't take reservation. So a curious of cat and loving Korean food I decide to give it a try, I am not a really big mega or chain restaurant type person. I love the whole on the wall or word of mouth type girl. Anyway, the decor was done in a sense that reminds me of 1970's 1980's Korean pub style, very low key. Service is fast and staff are friendly but I found food just ok....However I loved their cold kimchi soup , very refreshing and icy cold, perfect for the hot summer weather and cleanse your palate after BBQ.

Not your run of the mill Korean BBQ

By Anita |

Our first visit and we loved the food. We ordered the beef combo and the small portion was ample for the 3 of us. The meat was very fresh and tasty. The sides and seaweed wraps made it an extraordinary experience. Be prepared to wait for a table - no reservation - on a Sunday night it took 50 min for us to get our table. The ambiance was also lively so it was overall worth it.

Yummy Korean bbq lunch

By scs |

So I’ve heard of this place which isn’t easy to find bc you drive into a plaza that contains several restos and a Starbucks. Plus if you go for dinner, they have lines and waits. We went for lunch and it was delicious. We ordered the beef combo, and it was a lot of meat. This place is known for its galbi. We had banchan of a spicy romaine salad, radish soup, acorn squash, kimchi, Kim, kimchi pancake, and dipping sauce for the meat. We also got tofu soup. It was all delicious and we were stuffed. The staff comes by and cooks your meat on the grill and it was delicious.

Good

By N957PCmichelles |

It was quite expensive but definitely worth it. The waiters care and refill empty foods. Water is for free and the meat portion is big (at least for two people). Would recommend it. The only thing i didn't like was the fact that it's really loud and the ventilation system is not good.

Our First Korean BBQ

By iliketowrite |

Not sure what to expect and not sure how to rate something we've never had before. There were four of us, two of whom had been here, hence knew what to order. We all shared the Beef Combo - marinated and braised ribs, brisket, and steaks. Also included was Beef Stew Soup, romaine lettuce salad, another salad, some veggies and an assortment of stuff surrounding the center fire pit - scrambled eggs and other sides. In a nutshell, the ribs were the best thing (crispy edges and tender inside) and the other meats weren't far behind. It was hard to enjoy some of the other items, but it was good to try it all. They give you small plates , metal chopsticks, a large spoon and will also give you a fork if requested. Knowing in advance about the long lines, we arrived on a Saturday around 5 pm, lucked out right away with a nearby parking space and only had about a 5-minute wait to be seated. Service was excellent, efficient and quickly moved you through the meal. We did not feel rushed at all, though. One at a time, the meat is placed on a grill on a little fire pit in the center of the table; the server comes back every few minutes to tend to the cooking and dishes it out when it's finished. The room is filled with a light haze from all the cooking and the aromas encourage your appetite. All in all, this was a very nice first experience, and certainly worth a repeat visit.

We had a great time at this lively and pleasant restaurant in Koreatown. The food was very good and the service was both very competent and very friendly.

my favorite korean bbq

By lamp131 |

the beef is soso marble and tender. ordered the 2 people meal, was such a steal, almost enough food for 3 people. the short ribs are the best. but there was a long wait even though i went for a late lunch.

Love!

By Mindee |

First time here and heard great reviews. I've been to quite a few different KBBQ places and I have to say probably one of the best ones I've been to. Definitely would come back. Even my sister isnt a fan of KBBQ and she loved it. Food was amazing. Meat is super tender. Somewhat pricey but I promise it'll be worth it. Can get super busy and have a wait time.

A Good Porky BBQ Feast

By Me^Only |

One would never thought that a former wrestler turned Comedian, who Laugh at his own Joke; would open such an amazing BBQ Place in LA. We walk there from Howard Johnson nearby; on a Monday Afternoon for Lunch & There was no Queue & noticed less than 6 table were occupied. The BBQ Grill have 2 Rim; the Outer rim have 3 section - The waitress / Waiter will pour 1 section with beaten Egg mixture, 2 section with corn & Cheese combo & the 3 section with Kimchi. The middle Rim is where the Meat will be cooked and as the meat get cooked; the ozzing Goodness (Oil & Juice from meat :D) will flow into the egg & Corn section (It really enhance the taste). The waitress / Waiter will help you put the meat on the grill to cook & you just need to eat them / move them to your plate when it is cooked. They will change the middle rim depend on the cut of the meat too. For US$39.99 (before Tax & Tips) - We had the Regular Pork Combo - You can choose 3 porky part out of this 4 - Special Pork Neck, Sheared Pork Belly, Seasoned short Pork Rib Or Thinly sliced Pork Belly (It come with Steamed Egg (Free refill), Corn Cheese (Free Refill), Mushroom, Sliced Sweet Potatoes, a Hot spicy Kimchi stew). We also order the the Lunch Box (shaken dosirak). The Salad, Banchan & that big bowl of Cloudy & Fizzy cold soup were all very yummy. After Lunch, you can walk to Zion Supermarket Opposite to do some shopping or to get some pastry from the Bakery (Inside City Center on 6th) Kang Ho-dong Baekjeong was really good & Cheap as compare to any Korean BBQ restaurants in Singapore where I currently live. I would visit regularly if i live near / in LA.

Beefy treats

By Dibdabbidbad86 |

So good. Sooooo gooooood. Totally worth the wait which was about thirty minutes on a Saturday night after 10pm. There was a large queue out the door which is usually a good sign But it moved very quickly and once seated we were served very quickly. I've never tried Korean BBQ before but after visiting this restaurant I will definitely be having it a lot more in future. The food was delicious, another user commented it could be confusing but I like to experiment with flavours so I actually found this to be a fun part of the dining experience. Servers are friendly so if you have any questions I am sure they would be happy to offer any suggestions or explain some very exotic fruits which I never knew existed until then! The meat was of extremely high quality but come hungry as there is ALOT of it. With all the condiments and accompaniments your belly will be truly satisfied. I really like the Korean beer too, it was very refreshing and complimented the intense flavours of the food. Well located only a short walk from the nearest metro station. 10/10 :)

Bad service

By MANGO M |

Went to this restaurant with high expectations but left with disappointment! The music was way too loud.and the waitress was horrible..had to constantly remind her of what we ordered..every time we asked for something she showed this attitude like we were annoying her, and dared to say that we had to pay her 18% tips when she handed us the bill..the food was ok but with this type of service I will never go back and will not recommend it to any of my friends

It’s worth the wait

By Samantha M |

Any time I come to L.A. going here is a must. The wait can be crazy but it’s worth it. Put your name down and then head down the parking lot for a sake and edamame appetizer until they call you.

Overpriced American Korean BBQ

Delicious and Fun

By Ellie M |

You know a place is good when very little in the restaurant is written in English. We went as two couples, and had a great time. We got a mix of the beef and pork, and had our waitress come over and flip the meat when it was time. When we left, we didn't smell like Korean BBQ, which often happens at similar places like Hibachi grills. Definitely check this place out!

Terrible food, my grandmother could do better. 超差的韩国饮食!

By ernest99 |

Food is nothing like those mentioned in the reviews. What is served here doesn't embed the true Korean flavours you get in Korea or other parts of Asia. Very disappointing given the hype. 食物一点都不入味,一点都不像韩国餐。

Popular Authentic Korean mini-chain

By Shanelle |

Authentic Korean restaurant with high quality meat that they cook for you. Came here on a Saturday around 5pm and still waited for about 30 minutes for a table. Give your name to the person and they’ll call you once a spot opens up. It’s out of order to accommodate for different party sizes. It’s in the same complex as Quarters so valet parking is available or you can try your luck finding street parking and walking. When you’re seated, everything is ready in terms of the fire being on the and the banchan being there. The kimchi pancake was my favorite and we ordered a second one (it’s free). There’s also seaweed, squash, lettuce salad, bean sprout salad, and kimchi. There’s combos that you can pick one type of meat or you can order a la carte. Definitely not cheap but we went with the beef combination which had three types of beef and came with kimchi soup, egg, veggies, and cheese corn. The third beef dish they gave which was most similar to bulgogi was my favorite. There was also a brisket and a sirloin - all tasty and good when you dip them in the sauce provided. The egg never really cooked all the way through so I didn’t eat it and the cheese corn got a bit hard since we waited until the end to eat it but overall I was super full and content. There’s bathrooms in the the back of the restaurant but since there’s only one, expect to wait. They do take credit card and they bring you the check once they see the fire is off to make room for the next waiting guest. Good spot for dinner whether it’s with friends or family.

A Thoroughly Unexpected Delight

By Chris C |

My wife and I somewhat stumbled upon this place, more out of necessity than by outright choice (long story). That said, we were very pleasantly surprised. People were queuing out the door (not a bad sign at all), but we were only waiting 10-15 minutes or so. Inside, as everyone is cooking on the table-mounted hot grills, the place is understandably smoky (which does permeate your clothes quite substantially). We were a bit unsure what to order, but the waiters were helpful and offered advice. We have a pork platter, which was great and absolutely not the type of cuisine we would normally have chosen. The waiters continually wander the floor, turning and checking multiple grills, while you sit and pretty much just take it all in. The food was great, and a real experience. Would recommend. Would rate 4.5 if possible.

Best Korean so far. Might even be better than my fav place in Troy?

By NikaNumber1 |

I wasn't surprised that my friend had to get 2 meat servings to cook on the BBQ. He ordered the marinated and regular short rib beef. It was a heaping helping of meat, he would take the leftovers home. I don't eat red meat and there were no seafood options for me. I had the radish noodles, was so tasty, the pa mo chin salad with the romaine, green onions and the bean sprouts were good, still prefer as the classic romaine and green onions with the red pepper paste dressing. The kimchi pajun was amazing and I realize it was because of the bits of jalapeno in it, really kicked up the flavor and heat to another level and had me craving more. I love that they cook up the egg right on the grill, what a great concept. The japchae was tasty too and my friend loved that they used the higher quality meat with, not the fatty meat. Everything was so tasty, I was happy to have tried it, but sad this wasn't closer to home for me. I am so glad I went.

LONG WAIT

By libyu |

Restaurant was highly recommended by friends who have been there. I was forewarned about the long wait and long line to get a table. We got there of course we were told i hour and 45 mins wait. We said ok- we waited. We actually went to another restaurant ate some appetizers and when to a bakery nearby to kill the time. We finally got seated at 9pm. The meal itself was great. the meat was good but service was not that great especially the wait staff has been working long hours with a lot of traffic. You could see they were exhausted to give u the attention.

A unique experiences

By Carol01887 |

We got there around 6:40pm, waited for 70 minutes for a table for 8, pretty lucky as my local friend told me. Unlike the other Korean restaurant in the east, most of the meat is not marinated. You can taste the meat is fresh, in the meantime, you need to dip in the sauce, which contains onion, jalapeño, soy sauce, a bit of sweet. Not as spicy as the jalapeño suggested. There are 3 sections around the grill pan, one with egg, one with cheese, and one with the onion. The cheese is good and the eggs are not bad. They will refilled them once you empty the section. My kids are used to the sweet and saucy Korean dish, therefore not too thrilled. I have a mixed feeling about this place. The wait is too long and the smoke is killing me, therefore, I cannot appreciate the food. Even through there is a hood above the table, it was not turn on, I was sitting down wind, so the smoke kept choking me. The place was full with young men and women, mostly Korean, I guess, seems a bit odd to bring the kids there. They do provide the valet parking for $3 with validation stamp from the restaurant, just be prepared for the long wait when retrieving the car. I think I had my expectation too high, so not impressed by the meal. But if you don't mind the wait and like Korean grill, you should give it a try, just don't wear any nice clothes here.

Pretty Damn Good Korean BBQ

By Toa B |

After an afternoon of sipping cocktails at the PerchLA, we wanted to look for a place to eat before heading off to the Dodgers game. Korean BBQ was suggested and it was a consensus among everyone. Having been to Kang Hodong Baekjeong a few times before, I knew this place wouldn't disappoint and a great way to showcase Korean BBQ to out of towners. We dropped by around 5:30pm, got valet parking and the wait was minimal for a table of 5. Maybe 20 mins. However the table that they sat us at had one area of the table cut off since it was against on of the support pillars. No biggie, we all just scooted around to make room. The ban chans here are lacking but it's not a big deal since we were here for the meats anyways. We ended up ordering the Beef Combination plate with short ribs and the beef soup and a plate of pork belly. The waitress was on the rude side but that's to be expected I suppose. Korean restaurants and none of us were Koreans. All in all, she made her way around to cook the meat for us and refilled our side dishes. Service was better as the meal progress but the biggest smile was reserved when she brought our check. We all laughed and noted that smiles only happen when it comes to tipping time. We had a good time and the food and meat quality was fantastic. It was a hit with everyone but because dinner took so long, we ended up missing the Dodgers game.

Great K BBQ!

By Sister_A28 |

Thoroughly enjoyed the beef and pork bbq dinner. Went on a Wed night and there was a 20 minute wait for a table. Waitress was super efficient in cooking the meat for us. And the top up of side dishes was very fast. Good prices. Valet parking available for US$5.

Very Busy But Worth the Wait

By TheLeongOhana |

The family and I arrived early to enjoy some Korean BBQ and were surprised of the wait ahead of us. Parking was a challenge from the start as the parking area in the back (which is staffed with valets) was already full. I dropped the family off to get on the waiting list while I pulled around to the next lot. Luckily there was still space available there so be mindful of this when planning a visit. For your reference there is not much seating so we and the rest of the wait list stood around for the entire time. 45 minutes or so later we finally got seated. First thing you notice when walking in is the slight haze in the air due to all of the cooking going on at each table. The haze was accompanied by a mixture of smells from the different types of food being grilled or served. You will get used to it. We also found the wall artwork to be quite hilarious as it pictured the owner (?) as a cartoon character in different setting around the world where they have a restaurant located. Food selection is very good. Besides the standard Korean side dishes which included a very tasty Korean style veggie salad, we ordered a couple of different meats (kalbi and bulgogi) and one order of chapjae. The surprise is the amount of meat you get for each order. For the price we pay in Northern California we are luckily if we half the amount of meat. all the food were well flavored and we enjoyed chowing it all down. My family remarked that after eating here they did not want to eat beef for awhile since there was that much meat! Service was attentive. The server explained the menu in detail, gave us good recommendations on the food and cooked all of our meats. The grill is also unique that the center is for cooking the meat and a ring surrounds the grill where the sauce was allowed to cook along with veggies. See the photo I've attached to this review for better understanding. Overall this is a definite place we want to come back and visit the next time we are in LA. Go early. Go often. Tr

Absolute Star of Korean Town

By Zachary H |

Wow. Visiting this restaurant made a mediocre trip to LA, so much better. We fashion ourselves to be Korean BBQ experts and this place was spot on! The extras included with the BBQ pork or beef were superb. Get the small portion of the pork/beef sample sets if there is only two of you. The portions are huge. We also enjoyed the fried dumplings and the cold spicy noodles! We ended up ordering way too much food, but it was so worth it! 🌊☀🐋

Best Korean bbq ever

By Trinh V |

Omg I've been waiting for write this review! I visited Kang Ho-Dang in June of 2019. I wasn’t able to check in or write a review at the time because Yelp had blocked off that option. I was recommended this place by a friend who visits LA often and then I looked it up on Yelp.. one word WOW! We had a party of 5 with me so our wait was over an hr. In my opinion, it was so worth the wait. The service is kinda quick and they don’t talk much to you but most asian restaurants are like that. I really enjoyed that they cut and cook your meat for you. We ordered the Large Beef Combo and all of us were satisfyingly stuffed. If you’re a party of larger than 4 I suggest ordered the large combo! The beef combo items are in my pictures. The meats tasted so fresh and the server cooks them perfectly! When I return to LA, I’m definitely going to eat here again!

Best Korean I've had outside of Seoul

By ROKAllday |

Ok. I need to start by saying this. I love korean BBQ and I have had many great experiences dining in Seoul where it is undoubtedly much better than any korean you will find in the West. However, this joint is as close to (if not just as good) some of the best korean BBQ's I've had in Seoul. You cannot reserve tables, which is always a sign that a restaurant is good. I arrived around 9.30PM with my friends and we were greeted by a fairly long line, and were told that we would have to wait at least 45 minutes. Having been recommended this restaurant by other friends, we decided to wait it out, and it was definitely worth the wait. We got the Beef combo which came with 3 different types of beef, and a choice of kimchi or miso stew. We opted for Kimchi stew as well as a side of steamed egg (this is actually included in the service so I wouldn't recommend ordering it if you are already getting a combo). Everything we received was of fantastic quality, staff were super friendly, and last but not least the restaurant definitely had the seoul restaurant atmosphere about it. Would definitely go again. Top notch.

Not your typical Korean bbq

By TJJapan |

So this was different from most Korean bbq places - We had ribeye plus two other meats and a soybean tofu stew. They cook at the table with eggs and cheesy corn (yes, odd isn't it?). It was good but I would opt for a place with the standard version instead. It wasn't cheap, something like $25 per person for lunch. There were long lines the first time we tried to eat there so we went back the next day and only had to wait 15 minutes.

Great meal

Nice way of having food: cooked right before you. It was all very tasty and would recommend it. Very popular with locals.

Really nice Korean bbq

By Omatje |

The place is really casual and nice, good place to hang out with friend and family. We went there early so we didn't have to wait to get a seat. The food was nice and fresh. The meat was nice and soft. I really enjoyed it. The service was also good. I would come back if I come back to Los Angeles!!!

I've had better kbbq in Korea, specifically black pork in Jeju. But this place was really food for kbbq outside of Korea. Would recommend the prime rib and pork belly!!

AMAZING

One of the best food experiences I have ever had. So good. Value for money is insane. The food here is so tasty. Staff always on hand to help out. It is a must if you are in LA. Friends from LA took us here the first time and it blew me away on how good it was. We came back last year and again it was every bit as good.

Good but not worth the line wait

By Janelle L |

Service is good. They cook for you...which I'm a little on the fence about, sometimes I kind of like cooking when going to Korean BBQ. It also makes me feel a bit rushed. Which just may be the point here considering their lines. The meats are high quality. i could be convinced to settle for a little lower quality of meat BUT a LOT less line waiting time. The sides and extras cooking around the perimeter of the grill are different (corn with cheese, what looks like an egg souffle, a few bell pepper chunks that weren't ready to be eaten until we were all done eating) but tasty enough. I definitely recommend going for at least a one time experience. Judge for yourself.

The best Korean BBQ outside of Seoul

By Karina V |

The most authentic Korean BBQ I've had outside of Seoul - the meats and the sides are of utmost quality. The place does not take reservations and the wait can be lengthy at some hours - be prepared to wait a little. A must on your trip to LA.

Great food

The food is great price is average. The waiter helped cook the food which make it much more enjoyable. Be prepare to wait and almost impossible to find parking.

Korea town Hot Spot for BBQ - With a Flavor and Atmosphere All Its Own

By Paul B |

Baekjeong is named for Kang Ho Dong Korea's famous wrestler and comedian. The "Baekjeong" part means Butcher in Korean. Almost always a long wait, but worth it. Parking in the area is super hard and a good hint is to use the valet parking. The meats are high quality, so not cheap but the quality and quantity very satisfying. The beef combo is highly recommended and a sampling of sides is interesting. They help with the cooking and the wait-staff acknowledge all incoming customers with a welcome in Korean shouted in unison. The result is a busy, somewhat loud and fragrant atmosphere that's festive and (some would say) "tourist-y," but it is a fun time. Keep an eye out for celebrities as well (they have to wait in line too).
