Sadly there aren’t many great options and examples of Mediterranean cuisine in Portland. This is the exception! Excellent, and fresh choices offered in a serene setting. Take away and dine in are equally good. The desserts- halva and baklava- are the real stars.

I went here with a group of colleagues for a work dinner. The service was good and the food was great. The shawarma was delicious! I would recommend this restaurant.

I have eaten here multiple times since it has opened. I like the decor and music. The food is delicious and fresh. It is always served hot and as it is prepared it comes out. The pita bread is fresh baked and brought to you straight from the oven. They have all the comfort and hard to find items that other middle eastern restaurants I've been too don't make. This is one of my all time favorite places in Portland. They also do togo food.

Very pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. Been a few times now and each time the service is friendly and the food is great. Lots of GF options and availability. Super fun bar menu and nice happy hour treats. Enjoy!

I had the kibbee saneeyeh and my wife had the vegetarian fatte. This was some of the best food I've had. My wife's was equally good. Service was friendly and relaxed.

Happened upon this restaurant while shopping in downtown Portland. Fabulous, reasonably priced meal. Service was quick and friendly.

The restaurant is long and narrow with high ceilings and cleverly decorated. However, on a cold day it lacks a cozy ambience simply due the heating factor. On a summer's day it is delightfully cool. Winners are the lentil soup and the delicious, fresh out of the oven pita pared with a smooth and tangy humus. Always pleasant service. I frequently run in for lunch and have never been disappointed.

During a two week coastal excursion from Oakland to Portland, Karam was the most authentic fare we discovered. A second-generation, in apparently a new location, who prepare wonderful old world cooking with a friendly presentation. The couple who own the place and their helpers are the ones who both prepare and serve their Lebanese-Syrian kitchen creations. The menu is very large and guaranteed to please. We chose Veggie Mezza: tabouleh mint salad, hummus dip, stuffed-grape leaves, baba ghanouj (puréed eggplant with lemon juice and olive oil) dip, and 2 falafels. Kibbee Beef Balls: bulgar wheat, lean ground beef with Lebanese seasoning, pinenuts, labneh rich yogurt. And one entree to share, Kafta Batata: a baked creation with grilled eggplant slices, boiled potato pieces, kafta ground beef patties, a rich and robust beef and tomato sauce, with a serving of basmati rice. Hot plate-sized homemade pita rounds. 1 Baklava desert. $45 for 2 including a draft beer. Amazingly tasty at a very reasonable price. Sent from my iPhone

I was lucky enough to get to go to Portland and got to try Karam. They had absolutely some of the best Lebanese food I have ever had. I highly recommend their hummus it was outstanding. Atmosphere: 5 I like the décor and esthetic of the space is great. It is a fairly narrow but deep restaurant. Service: 5 I can not say enough about the service. It was top notch. The staff worked together to make sure we didn't have to wait on anything. Food: 5 The food is definitely some of the best Lebanese I have had. I know if I get back to Portland Karam will be one of my first stops. Value: 5 For what I got and where Karam is the prices a very reasonable and a very good value.

We went in this restaurant by chance and we had a very good experience. Good service and the dishes were well prepared and with particular taste of a different world. We had a Mezza, a thyme pizza... The restaurant was empty at the beginning, but other clients arrived after... Might be the summer time... Just close to downtown. It closes at 9pm.

Everything was great from the tabouli to the lamb to the humas it's a tourist dream meal for culture buffs and sensitive palates the meal was dream come true

I found this by chance as I had a wonder around Portland. It was a Saturday night and it was reasonably busy. They have an extensive selection of Lebanese and Syrian food. I had Goat casserole with rice and an amazing fresh flatbread. It was all delicious and the portions were very generous. The welcome was friendly and genuine. The service was attentive. I would definitely return.

On 4th July just before the fireworks when all other places were closed this gem delivered everything we needed. Our host made time to play card tricks with the kids, before our tasty food arrived. The vegetarian platter was a mix of delicious morsels. Everyone enjoyed their selection. Not sure why there are so few reviews - this place is authentic and tasty - thanks team!

We were out walking while awaiting an appointment and saw this place. It was so clean and modern. Staff was very accommodating and helpful to explain the menu items since we were fairly new to the choices. They were very busy and it’s not fast food so it was fine. The food was very good. My husband is part Lebanese so by phone he helped me to order. Overall an excellent lunch and great service. Will go back.

I'm always a bit skeptical of inner city restaurants in well let's say not the best part of town, but pleasantly surprised at Karam. Went a few times as it was close to my hotel, across the board all good. Definitely worth going, and if any vegan's in your circle, plenty of offerings in that department.

We went there for dinner on a bitterly cold night. It was the closest restaurant to the hotel we were staying in. We ordered a veggie Mezza, which was very good and a Samke Harra which was salmon cooked in an assortment of herbs and veggies ans served with basmati rice. It was a really delicious dish and we both enjoyed it thoroughly! For dessert we had the Knafe B-Kaak and that too was enjoyable. Our server Samir was really very good and we enjoyed our experience there. We would definitely go there again!

Up on Jefferson, but once you find it you'll find great food, great service. Nice bar. Nice atmosphere. Not real busy but out of way gem.

We had manshaf and lamb kebab for lunch, the manshaf that we ordered is very tasty slightly different with manshaf that we had in real middle east locations but it was tasty nonetheless. The restaurant is a full service restaurant expect full service price for all the mealls.

First of all, our waitress, who was new, was completely charming and helpful. We ordered the vegetarian platter which came with a nice variety of dishes, and the best stuffed grape leaves, warmed, that I'd ever tasted. They offer gluten-free pita, which was wonderful, and excellent hummus, eggplant, a rice dish with sautéed onions. We had questions about their wine options, and tastes were generously brought so we could decide. Everything was excellent and I imagine we'll be back soon.

Wonderful flavors. We ordered a dinner with multiple types of meats, side dishes and sauces and enjoyed everything. The dessert sampler with four types was a fun and tasty way to try new foods too. The server was very helpful, and we enjoyed our experience.
Almost invisible but glad to have found!
If you are seeking great middle eastern cusine, try Karam. Take a bit to locate it and not very interesting from outside but step in for authentic food and flavors! Feta, Hummus, Falafel and stuffed grape leaves served with freshly made puffed pita bread!! Only tried vegetarian options. Enjoyed them all.
