We had a large group so we had a prearranged menu which was excellent with 5 choices of entrees, appetizers, dessert. Great selection of beers. Would return for sure.

There wasn’t a beer a tried that was less than a 4-star, the mahi tacos were awesome, and the service was so fast I barely had time to finish a pint before my food arrived. Great experience all around!

Spent another evening with the business guests and was again very happy with wait staff, food, beer and overall ambiance.

Meeting with clients and found this to be a good spot for lunch. Service was quick and the food was very good. Middle of the day so cannot rate the beers, but it is probably like the another Karl Strauss pubs I have visited.

Met my niece and her husband here for dinner. They managed to get a table for us as there was Thursday Night Football and it was crowded. This location is tucked back in a tech park and was a little hard to find. This place is great for beer lovers. The food menu was upscale pub. I had pork Weiner schnitzel sliders which were very good. Others had the rib eye steak, fish sandwich and brick chicken. Everyone enjoyed their food. Service was great. I would recommend this brew pub chain to anyone.

It place was so noisy, we should have left right away and not been seated. And this was at 1:30 pm on a weekday. We were given 2 small plates and wrapped silverware. There was a long black hair on the plate. My husband is bald and I have short hair. We should have left. I had fish and chips; the fish was greasy, and the fries were lukewarm. We couldn't tell the server because we hadn't seen him in a while. Meanwhile, we needed refills and a clean glass - my husband's had a dried chunk of something on the outside. Again, no server. I hated the broccoli slaw. The menu didn't indicate that there was cilantro in it. I DETEST cilantro. My husband had the chicken wings. He liked the celery and carrots. The wings? Not so much. About 20 minutes after leaving the restaurant, we were desperately looking for a bathroom. Needless to say, we won't be back.

There are several locations here in and around San Diego. I would recommend the Carlsbad location as well. The Big Beer Burger is very good. Take home a six pack of IPA Tower 10 if you like good beer. This is an easy going location and good for birthday parties and gatherings.

We were happy the bride and groom chose this place for both their ceremony and reception. It's a beautiful setting, and the restaurant was able to handle our large group, passing yummy appetizers as soon as we came inside. The dinner, served buffet style, was tasty - and a world above typical banquet food. Beer delicious, nice wines, and most attentive service. As the sun set, the pond became even more beautiful with lighting. And while we dined, the patio, which had rows of chairs set up for the ceremony, was cleared and became a perfect place for dancing.

Our last day in San Diego, sad to leave but even more so after we stumbled across this jewell. Not only was the food delicious, the flights great, but the service was impeccable. Who knew fried Brussels Spouts could be so good and wait till you try the Cotija Burger. From the moment we walked in until we walked out we received 5* service. A special shout out to our server Carla who was attentive and charming. She deserves a raise. Management is doing a great job of hiring great people. Bravo!

If you have the opportunity stop in for Sunday brunch! Free champagne or you can go with a flight of beer. The food is incredible, made with quality ingredients and so delicious. The atmosphere is fantastic. This place is located in an industrial area, as many breweries are and upon arrival it's hard to determine where the restaurant is. Just follow anyone else you see in the parking lot. You're most likely going in the same direction. You will eventually make your way into what seems like the secret garden of Karl Strauss. There is a walkway along a gorgeous koi pond, patio and open air seating, a bar and the buffet area, all of which are very well designed and maintained. It's a really chill, "just had an awesome weekend and ending on a high note" vibe. It's perfect.

My 4 year old and I were tagging along with my husband on his business trip and staying at Country Inn & Suites just down the road. Finding close food in the evening in this area is tricky but we were happy to come across this place. They have a nice indoor/outdoor eating area and a very large koi pond, which my daughter enjoyed looking into as we ate dinner. Food was amazing. Not a beer enthusiast, but it was vacation so tried one of their seasonal brews. Amazing! If you're in the area, check this place out.

This brewery is tucked away in Sorrento Valley but is like a little oasis when you arrive. The beer choices are extensive and the menu is really good too. Outdoor patio dining around the koi pond has heated seating. Its a little loud inside because it has a large dining area. The chicken rice bowl was surprisingly delicious. Its a great place to hang out with friends and enjoy local brew.

We stopped in for a tasting of a beer flight and tasting. The beer was above average with a good mix of lagers, IPA and stouts. We tried about 10 different brews and 7 or 9 were good. We didn't eat there but they had a big lunch menu that looked very good and the diners we saw had food that was nicely presented. There was a pretty Japanese pond and garden adjacent to the tasting area.

This place is tucked away so that you might miss it on the first pass in the dark - it's hiding in the midst of the trees and a Japanese garden in the middle of the QualComm campus. Beautiful setting with an artificial pond and waterfall and lots of outdoor seating, with the idyll broken periodically by the roar of F-18's from Miramar. We sat outside on a beautiful but chilly Wednesday evening. They turned on the propane overhead radiant heaters and things warmed up to the point we chose to finish our apres' dinner drinks inside at the bar. Wow! Good service with the place fairly full near peak dinner time - timely, attentive and friendly. The menu is fairly extensive with brew pub standards like burgers, salads and fish-and-chips, and then plenty of inspired dishes like cioppino, shrimp and grits, and carbonara. Dang, that Mosaic session IPA is just plain juicy. My new go-to beer.

This restaurant needs to close. Friday at 7:00 and less than half tables occupied. Party of eight required three separate orders. Order at the bar. Tried to get a second beer and options were to leave my meal and go to the bar or download an app. Will not be returning. Despite what restaurants claim, service is available. We have been on the road over three weeks eating three meals a day in restaurants. Lack of service at Karl Strauss was the worst we experienced.

I was told to visit this establishment upon my first time staying in the area. I drove by it maybe twice before I actually went in to browse. The restaurant is disguised behind a corporate center parking lot The Park. WHen you arrive throught the entrance portal you are welcomed by a meticulously maintained Japanese garden with a large pond of koi. The restaurant is like a pier side wharf shack with ample views of the garden and up close outside dining areas. There were many corporated events going on and the place was lively. After tasting a few brews at the bar, I asked for a table for one and after a short wait I was seated outside by the pond. As I began to relax I ordered my meal. I was completely blown away by my dinner as the steak was perfect and the portion of vegetables was fresh and humongous! Afterwards, I felt a lot more Zen and went back to my hotel, had a Jacuzzi session and zonked out. Priceless.

I have a group dinner (of more than 20 people) in early July. The environment is great with nice exterior design and a large fish pond. We made reservation in advance and so we are assigned to seat at an outdoor patio that is nice. The food especially the pork chop is great. The beer is excellent too. Note that they already serve cheesecake!

Lots of beer. The special brew was Peanut butter Stout. Not my style but interesting. The ginger crusted salmon was well cooked and delicious

Great service, great food, outstanding beers - this place is a must every time I'm in town for work.

First off, it’s really my fault. I should know better than to order poke on the mainland. Although it had the basic ingredients of poke, I would not recommend it. There was an immense amount of cabbage bedding under a small amount of fish that may or may not have gone through the poke process and some of it tasted well past prime. The Poblano Quesadilla had a nice bite and smokiness to it, but the filling to tortilla ratio was sub-par. Beers? Good selection. If you cannot find something to your liking, you might want give up on beer. Heh.

I travel to San Diego quite often for work so I have to opportunity to try different restaurants. Karl Strauss is one of my favorites. There is more than just burgers and beer and everything I have tried I have enjoyed. My kids enjoyed the Norm Mac & cheese so much that they once asked me to being some home on the airplane. I am also a big fan of the Red Trolley Ale.

We came early for lunch. I was treating a couple of business customers of mine. The staff was courteous, the food was great & although I don't drink I heard the crafted beers were excellent. We waited 50 minutes to be served lunch- after I asked my waitress if they had to catch the lobster first for my lobster roll?....granted that might be acceptable for dinner, especially if your engaged with conversation & downing libations while your waiting for your meal, but most business lunches are 1 hour & they should be prepared to serve promptly. To have to flag down my server to gain an approximate time on when we were going to get served after 50 minutes is too much. I gave a very good rating because besides the wait - everything else was great !

Came here for dinner on a whim. Super busy - had to queue for a table. But the servers were excellent - directed us to the right area, pointed us to the bar. The food was enormous - the burgers were great. Zach, our server was helpful and knowledgeable about the beers. Recommend a tasting flight to get a few types of beer in! The stout was a winner!

Met here for lunch with son and family. What a surprise when we walked down the path and into a Japanese Garden surrounding a huge Koi pond complete with Koi fish. We walked across the bridge and into the Japanese-style Garden House where we were warmly greeted and offered indoor or outdoor (lots) dining. The beer selections are great - try the flights, pre-determined or choose your own. The food is on the pricey side ($12 - $18 burgers) but are large portions we had the chili-lime sweet potato fries as an appetizer - yummy. I had the seafood cioppino ($20) which was as good or better than any I have ever had. Loaded with seafood and a light flavorful broth. Ask for bread to soak up the remaining broth. Be aware that there is a 3% amount added on due to the new minimum wage increases. Just increase the food prices and forget the add-on which left a bad taste.

We were invited to have lunch at Karl Strauss Brewery & Restaurant. As mentioned it is an extreme popular and therefor busy place to eat, but worthwhile waiting for to be seated. The food was good, the people friendly and I am sure their own brewed beer is great, however I didn't order it.

We went here for a quick lunch large work group that had an hour. They were informed of this one hour time frame and our food was promptly delivered. The staff was exceptionally great at keeping our drinks refilled and the food was an enormous huge sandwich and fries. Plenty of food and the price we all thought was reasonable too. Definitely would come here again when we can taste their beers also.

We stopped by Karl Strauss for lunch on a Saturday and were seated at an outdoor table overlooking the fish pond. During the pandemic it is necessary to order with your smart phone or order at the bar. The restaurant has a nice menu with burgers, sandwiches, appetizers and even steaks. They also nave a good selection of Karl Strauss Craft beers on tap, wines etc.

Came here for the Sunday Mimosa and Beer Brunch with my buddies to celebrate of best buddy's bridal shower. We were a small party of 12, and the crew was very accommodating. Food selection was fabulous to customizing your own breakfast egg favorites, pasta dishes and roast beef stations. Mimosas were flowing and the sides and desserts are all fabulous! Japanese garden was also beautiful! I want to come here again for my own celebrations.

Another craft beer establishment trying to do too much. Instead of focusing on beer with food as a nice add-on, this monstrosity of a restaurant is too big for it’s own good. The service was poor. We were a party of 4 adults and 4 children. Once our food order arrived, we were all served except for one of the children. As he waited, the rest of us began to eat. Thank goodness we did because otherwise our food would have been cold. When we were more than 1/2 way finished with our meals, I was able to flag the waiter over (because he never came back to ask how everything was or if we wanted another drink) to ask for the child’s order. It eventually came out, but by that time the rest of us were finished. The waiter should have realized how terrible that was and we should have been comped that one dish. The point of eating out together is just that...”together”. Other than the service being poor, the food was okay...nothing spectacular. The location is odd...in an industrial park. There are so many other locations, I would say skip this one. Too much going on here to be truly accommodating to the customers. Karl Strauss beer is also served at several theme parks....better service at those places. Thankfully, we had a great time with our friends, so that made up for the terrible service.

This was a busy restaurant with a really good food selection and beer selection worth the time to experience.

I stopped by to watch the Presidential debates in an outdoor patio setting while up north and the bartender accommodated me by putting it on the outside bar TV. Great BEER - love the tangy Sculpin and the Red Trolley Ale, especially. They also have tasters if you don't know what to choose. They had great live music during happy hour, too.

There is a nice patio and a great view of some landscape to look at while you eat. The food was delicious and the beer was great. They had a special on flights and appetizers that we took advantage of for happy hour, so plan to arrive then to save a few bucks. The location is within walking distance (about 15 minute walk) of the Country Inn and Suites.

We were expecting a n evening rain storm so we went early (4:30pm) to enjoy some food before travel became difficult. We tried a number of beer tastings which were all good. The pairings suggested for various dishes were excellent. We had a few that were just complimentary. The Tabouli & Melon Salad, Ahi Poke, Mesquite Chicken Sandwich and Squid Pro Quo were all tasty. We topped it off with the Chocolate on Tap for dessert and got back to our room at the Residence Inn before the down pour.

What's not to like? There's a large free carpark out front but it does get very full. then you talk about 100 yards along a winding path to the the restaurant that is situated right next to a Japanese garden with lake koi carp. Really tranquil. The food is wholesome and well presented. I really enjoyed my pork chops very much. Beers & merchandise are available for those who like mementos. A very memorable lunch.

Karl Strauss was highly recommended by staff at the hotel I spent the night at in this mostly corporate area. Had spent all week in 121 degree weather over in El Centro and was looking for a relaxing place to unwind and cool off after the drive back to catch a flight out. The Japanese garden setting on the patio was beautiful and peaceful. The service was superb and came with great tasting recommendations for a beer flight. Also had ribeye steak and Parmesan fries with grilled zucchini. All cooked to perfection. The waiter recommended I try the BBQ sauce and was so happy he did. It was very good. So much food that I took half back to the hotel for later. I really like that the GM comes around and checks with customers. And I learned what beers I like best.. and that I DO NOT like bitter beer!

I visit San Diego often for work and stay at a hotel across the street from this brewery restaurant in Sorrento Mesa. On Fridays, after work, I like to go there and have a great glass of beer from a wide selection and a very good dinner. The place is usually packed but I rarely have to wait for a table since many people are just standing having a beer. The place has expanded with both an open area and an enclosed area. I like the ginger crusted salmon and the drunken Cioppino. Once I tried the pork chop and it was excellent. If one is new to it, the beer sampler is a must. It helped me select the brew I like and have been ordering ever since.

I have visited other locations, Great menu and excellent beer selections. This location is unique as the outdoor patio is surrounded by a beautiful asian garden and a good size pond. Staff is very accommodating to relocate our table once one of us " needy person" wanted more shade!! Cheers

Super friendly environment with a great selection of beers. Very amenable to samples! Our waitress Ashley was topnotch. the food was reasonable - nothing exciting, but solid and reasonably priced.

Went to have dinner here, ordered a beer and the "Ahi grade tuna" with avacado ($1.75)to start. The beer was very good, the tuna was not. There were chewy parts and sinew. This is not what you get with Ahi Grade and there was about 1/8 of an avacado. Decided not to order dinner. Service was good, but they didn't notice or comment on the chewy tuna i put back on the plate. To give them credit, I probably should have ordered a burger and fries for $17.

We called on our way to this brewery and asked if we could put our name in but were told they could not take a reservation after 4pm but they could seat us right away. We ordered beers off the menu and appetizers. The tuna sandwich and pastrami sandwich are delicious. Kids menu portions are generous and desserts were great too. We had 5 kids and two adults in our party and everyone was happy!! I would highly recommend if your in Carlsbad!

Food tastes great and the location is a hidden gem. It offers different variety of delicious food as well as wide variety of beer.

I've been going to Karl Strauss a long time, both in 4s Ranch and Sorrento Valley, I even had my wedding reception there many years ago. Their food has always been good, however the beers are just ok for me. I tend to stick to the IPAs. I'd love to see some guest beers like other places have. The service is always EXCELLENT. That said, while I fully support fair wages for staff in restaurants, and I always make a point of tipping very well at Karl Strauss because the service is so excellent, I object to them adding a 3% surcharge because, as they claim, they care about their staff. They don't care enough though it seems, to cover higher wages themselves rather than very overtly pass it on to the customer. Here's a tip Karl Strauss: I think you'd find that most of your customers would prefer you to simply increase the prices by 3% rather than you making the claim you care so much you're going to surcharge us.

Great beer, along with some great food! A must and located very near the Santa Fe trolley station. Go on foot and take a taxi or trolley home, it is just that dang good. The staff is friendly and will help you with your selection of beer.

Very good food menu. Ate there twice. Drink menu only has beer, cider, kambucha, and wine. My friend wasn't a beer drinker, they don't have a cocktail menu - but the quality of the food made up for that.

If you go for lunch, get there before 11:30 or you will have a wait. This is used to be a Japanses restaurant, so there is a big koi pool in front of it. Service is normally very anattentive but not so good last Friday lunchtime. I can recommned the cioppino, it is my go to favorite - get it with some rice to mop up the brrth. Don't bother with the overhyped 'IPA' Aurora Hoppyalis unless you really like citrus adulterating your beer...

Black garlic fondue was amazing. Grass fed burger was standard, lifted by some avocado. Beeramisu was excellent using the espresso flavours of the Wreck Alley Stout. All washed down with a variety of beers. The Windansea Wheat would have been at home in Germany - great tasting wheat beer. Could have drunk the Red Trolley all night - lots of caramelised malt. The Wreck Alley Stout was great to finish - a bit like having a coffee at the end of your meal. But if you prefer a port, I'd totally recommend the Midnight Tiger stout. The free tasting glasses were a nice touch too.

Had an awesome supper here- well worth the drive, kinda set in a science park area , and we weren't sure if we had made a wrong turn but , the big sign confirmed that our fears were unsubstantiated! Great beer, great service, great food ! You won't regret it ...

The beer and the food were very good. It was annoying that the employees were apparently eating and drinking at 2 tables, kept going into the kitchen to get more and were very loud. It would be a nice restaurant but the atmosphere is lacking inside and outside it is great, take a look at finneys, everything is just right.

This location of Karl Strauss is my favorite. The atmosphere is always electric and I love the Koi pond. The KS beers have kicked it up a notch in the last few years, and the new Mosaic Session IPA is a new favorite. The pintail pale ale is also a go to beer. I have to say the food is always mediocre, and the nachos, which was my favorite, are now off the menu. The tuna starter is the next best thing. Highly recommended. Come on Friday's for an $8 growler fill (get a code on Twitter). Be careful as they are packed all the time.

This is a terrific place to get both food and drink. Most people go for the latter but the former is also surprisingly excellent. Serving good fare is not necessarily a feature of microbrew restaurants but this one is seemingly an exception. The location of this particular restaurant was a little off the beaten path but was close to our hotel. The facility itself was quite nice as it conveyed the hint of a rustic feel. The grounds stood out as they featured a lovely Japanese Garden. The dining room had an open design with a vaulted ceiling. The blonde wood furnishings along with the bright lighting presented a relatively bright and airy atmosphere. The beer list was impressive and the amber was particularly well done. The dinner menu was also tempting as there were several nice options. I was surprised that Shrimp and Grits were on the menu. This is one of my favorites and I found it to be excellent. My colleague, who is a vegetarian, had the Black Garlic Fondue and was quite pleased with it as well. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the experience making this place a good value. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend this establishment for food or drink if you are in the area. There are several other Karl Strauss locations in the San Diego area as well.

We stayed at the Grand Palisades Resort and had breakfast on our check out day. The two are very close and Karl Strauss provides room service for the hotel. It was a buffet only breakfast with an Omelette station- good coffee also! Good service - good variety - good location- very convenient. The lunch and dinner menu looks tasty also- as well as the large variety of beer choices.

Good beers, good food, good service & beautiful surroundings . (It's actually surrounded by amazing gardens.) James, the bartender, was great. A very good experience! Tip: although it was very busy at lunchtime, we were able to sit at the bar with no wait & then enjoyed the good service from James. We will definitely come back again.

We had to do Meatloaf Wednesday along with a flight of Karl Strauss brews. The atmosphere is classic beer garden. Our flight favorite was the Red Trolley Ale. This is a great spot to share with friends. A nice, casual, brewery venue with good food.

This place is GOOD, and the food is well priced and high quality. I particularly love the quinoa rice and tofu bowl they serve. It is very near to the Westin hotel, so it's a very good option for higher quality food than that served in the hotel, and at much better prices too.

Rock star waiter! Very knowledgable and his suggestions were perfection. The setting was a pleasant surprise. I thought it was in a very "business" style neighborhood, but it was like a little oasis and had a lovely water feature and outside seating. The Red Trolley Ale and Aurora Hoppyalis were our favs. We were very hungry and had the pretzels with mustard and beer cheese. Perfect to nosh on with a flight of great beer.

ate here for a business meeting. Service was very attentive. tried ne of the lighter beers and it was good. Also the appetizers were good. it was very noisy when fully packed so difficult to have a conversation without yelling. it is a nice plce to relax and very crowded during afterwork hours for Happy Hour.

My husband and I attended a wedding here in May 2016. While we enjoy microbreweries, I was surprised at the choice of venue for a wedding. We were SO pleasantly surprised! It was a gorgeous venue - definitely not something you get at a normal brewery. The landscaping and koi pond were gorgeous. The food and bar was great and the cake was amazing! It was honestly one of the nicest weddings I've been to. The service was top notch - a great/friendly bartender and attentive staff at the tables. The next morning we went to their Sunday brunch and what a great deal for $25! Omelet and pasta bars, yummy shrimp cocktail, boneless buffalo wings, desserts, and a ton more! But make sure you make a reservation - it was packed!

We were seated (a group of 9) fairly quick on a Saturday evening. It was chilly and the heater by our table was out, they kept shaking the plug and lighting the heater. It only stayed lit for about 5 minutes. They had great food and drinks. Our server was super nice too!

Was visiting family in 4S and went to their local location(twice). Beer is great, Frank the Dank, Tower 10, Pintail, and their Mosaic Session were all excellent. Sessions don't normally excite me by this was great! The place was crowded with locals (couples, families with kids). I had Mac and Cheese which was fantastic! They have a few varieties which are all good, from what I'm told. Brussel Sprouts were also tasty as was the squid. Perfect casual place to Grab dinner with a very social atmosphere.

Sitting outside by the fishpond on a perfect evening. Had a fantastic dinner and drinks.. The server was very good . I recommend eating dinner there

I've had good service here in the past, so maybe this was a one-time experience, but I wasn't happy with the service last time I was here. I wasn't happy with my calamari either and the server didn't take my "gripe" very seriously.

Staying at the Courtyard Marriott Sorento Valley and looking for a convenient place to eat, we walked across Scranton Road to Karl Strauss. It's actually a little hard to find as the sign on the street misleads you to think the restaurant is right there. Actually, you need to walk into the Tech Center's parking lot then hang a left halfway to the next building to finally locate the entrance. Anyway, once we found the place, we were quickly seated and served with water and silverware. There is a good choice of beers and ales but you have to ask for a wine list if, like my wife, wine is what you're looking for. For dinners, I chose the Drunken Cioppino while my wife had the the Mac and Cheese without any of the possible added variations. The cioppino was good, however, my wife found the Mac and cheese less than advertised. They say it's "life changing" but, in her opinion, it clearly didn't measure up. Anyway, dinner was enjoyable (although the place is very loud) and we'd probably return if staying nearby and opting for convenience over finer dining.

This brewery has a large menu for both food and drink. The service was quick and friendly. The calamari was fresh and cooked just right. The black bean soup is vegetarian and has a bit of spice to it. The burgers are juicy without being greasy. Will definitely come back for the large selection of draft beers.

We went here for a birthday brunch! And the food selections were amazing! The waitress did her best to accommodate the sun and the size of our party. Since the party was big she was also able to use multiple cards for charging. Will definitely come back. The little pond in the background is beautiful!!

Stayed at the nearby Residence Inn and only went because it was close by but so glad we did. Great choice beers but be careful to check the alcohol content as some go as high as 10%. Food was also good and reasonably priced for this kind of place

Being one of the original microbrews in San Diego, Karl Strauss's first restaurant in Sorrento Valley is a hit. Many Koi ponds, various sittings, and food and of course the beer make this a great place for a special couple of a group after work. I have had several selections over the years and every menu item is very good.

The Piri Piri Wings are the probably the best appetizer in the world. A little spicy and boneless. Definitely addictive.

There is a nice variety of craft beer on draft, they brew several styles, and if you have never been there, try several 'tasters' to find the one that you like. The menu has a variety of items from fish and chips to tacos, to Mac and cheese, salads and soups. Lunch is a good time to dine, as this location has a lot of evening diners.

Loved this gem of a restaurant. Service was excellent and prompt. Food was delicious and well presented.

We were staying at a hotel around the corner and this place was recommended to us by several people. We were seated quickly, received good advice from the waiter about our selections for both drinks and food items. Waiter was attentive but unobtrusive. Food was well presented. We had the popper and recommended beer pairing for an appetizer. My husband had Ciopinno, which he really enjoyed. I had a burger with interesting toppings that was large enough to take half home. We had a beer flight to try the "award winners" and enjoyed learning about the offerings and trying something new.

Went here for a business lunch. Very cool setting and outdoor seating was nice. Menu had lots of good selections and both of our meals were good. Service was prompt and I had no complaints. Would come back again.

The beer is awesome with a huge selection. The staff are more than happy to help you make a choice whether this be a beer or food. I also had two burgers (one beef, one chicken) and around 6 beers in two visits. Nothing at this place disappoints and theres a reason it's up there as one of the best places to visit for a drink and/or food in SD. Also if you're catching a game at Petco Park to see the Padres you can find their beer available.

Heard great things about Karl Strauss Brewing Company so went for dinner and drinks. Upon pulling up, you get the feeling its just a corporate car park, but once you enter, wow. Great pond and fish and the staff are lovely. The happy hour nibbles was just great, and the main courses to follow were just as good

Went to the restaurant for a business dinner. The service, food, and drinks were great. Sat outside, but they had heaters to keep us warm.

Arrive to stand in line to order and pay. Try to find a non reserved table. Food good, not very good. High priced, quality food. Small portions, lite on flavors.

What a beautiful place! We have been to Karl Strauss before but this is my favorite location so far. On Sunday it only serves the buffet for $26 that includes bottomless mimosa or first beer. The food is very good: omelette station, typical breakfast stuff, shrimp cocktail, smoke salmon, battered fish, buffalo wings and a carving station. There are also lots of salsa and sauces to pick from for the different dishes. Make a reservation or expect a wait. There were seats available at the bar when we showed up but has the worst view. Your are back is facing the koi pond. There was also live music which was very pleasant.

12 of us went here for lunch. We sampled some great beers and had great food. We started with the soft pretzels and hummus - yum. The salmon salad was good. The best Brussel sprouts I have ever had. We even had folks that don't like Brussel sprouts try them and like them. There is a beautiful coy pond and waterfall out back. Beautiful place.

My family and I visited this restaurant recently and overall I thought it was pretty good. The service was good and I enjoyed sitting outside with their outside seating. I enjoyed the music they were playing as well. The food was pretty good which including the mac and cheese that I got. The prices were fair especially for that area. The downside is the parking in the area in general so you may have to take some time finding parking as I know it took us a good 10 minutes to find parking. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for a nice sitdown restaurant in the area that is not too overpriced.

At first when you arrive one may think that we are entering a typical brew pub, but when you arrive the first thing that catches your eye is the Japanese garden setting. Real nice touch. We were with a large group that was going to have lunch, but there were no issues in finding a table. I was impressed with the large variety of food selections and the beer selection as well. We all ended up ordering different lunch entree's ranging from grilled chicken sandwiches, fish taco's and grass fed burger. All of the meals were well prepared and the quality was outstanding. We all left very satisfied.

We were looking for a casual pub with good food in downtown San Diego. The Karl Strauss Brewing Company definitely fit the bill! They have a great selection of craft beers and an extensive food menu which includes gourmet burgers, sandwiches, salads and a huge number of unique items! We shared the black garlic fondue and the Piggy Bank Mac and Cheee. Both were very unique and Unbelievably flavourful! The service was also outstanding. We would definitely recommend it and will go back in the future if we are back in San Diego!

Right in the middle of the downtown/harbor/tourist area of San Diego, Karl Strauss is an excellent mix of quality, well priced beer and fine dining. The staff was great, the food was better, and beer even another step up from that. Absolutely loved the place. Will be back when I get the chance.

I went to Karl Strauss for the first time ever and it was great! The food was delicious and the staff friendly. I have to admit I'm not much of a beer drinker, but they had something for every palate and trial size cups so you can taste test the beer before you get a large glass. I'll be coming back soon!

We went for drinks and had a few appetizers. The beer was awesome, service was great, and food was delicious. Very glad we stopped in!

Karl Strauss is the place to go for delicious pub food. We started with boneless Buffalo wings and large soft pretzels served with beer cheese and a delicious spicey mustard. I could have eaten both by myself but we shared them among the four of us. The big beef burger and fries were a favorite, as well as the Mesquite chicken sandwich with house made chips. The brick chicken served with rice and black beans was a plentiful dish, and my mixed organic salad was excellent. It has apples, almonds, and gargonzolla cheese on top.

We visited this place given the trip advisor ratings. The place was great loved the outside seating and the pond. The staff were nice as was the beer and wine, but our food was not good we had to send one of our sharing plates back as it was cold. Was replaced and was better but was not my favourite. There was a game on so it was very noisy.

I visited Karl Strauss one weekday night recently for a locally brewed beer and dinner on a weekday night. The service was great and friendly. The inside of the restaurant/bar was very welcoming so I sat at the bar. There were lots of TVs available to watch various sporting events. I ordered the cheddar burger with the peanut butter cup porter. The beer was excellent with a definite peanut butter taste which was quite interesting and tasty. The burger was average but the fries had parsley or oregano on them and they were excellent. The bartender gave me a shot glass with chocolate malt at the end to wash it all down which I also appreciated. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because some part of the meal gave me a bad case of the runs in the middle of that night causing me to get out of bed a couple times. That could have happened anywhere though so I would definitely give them another shot. Great place and fun environment and they make all their own beers.

I came here for dinner and drinks and it was pretty good. Great selection of beers and the food was delicious. We were seated pretty quickly and our server was very nice. Fast service too. 4 out of 5 because they didn't have a lot of options for someone like me with a lot of food allergies, however they were nice about it and worked with me to make sure I could get a safe meal. I would definitely go back for drinks and appetizers.

Food was fantastic! We had the fish tacos, Gouda burger, spicy chicken sandwich and mac & cheese. All of it was wonderful. Beer was equally satisfying especially the red trolley. Wish we lived in the area to enjoy again.

Fantastic Sunday brunch. They have a great selection of food that covers from breakfast to lunch. The pasta bar and omelet bar are both top notch. They have fresh fish and featured the blackened salmon the day we came. Have a sweet tooth? There are two tables waiting. The cost is reasonable

Nice pub ambience with great beers and food. The steak we ordered was delicious cooked with herbs and pepper.

We have had brunch here a couple of times and also booked the terrace for a small private celebration. The garden is beautiful. The brunch options are excellent, there is something for every taste and diet. The service is nice and quick. I recommend making a reservation. Also arrive early if you prefer a less noisy environment. The outdoor space is very nice and calmer than inside. I only wish they had a espresso machine, because the only coffee drink they have is simple brewed coffee. I would give them 5 stars if I could get a cappuccino or an espresso!

This place is great for hanging out. Informal, congenial atmosphere. I don't drink beer but if you do, it seems like a good place to go - there were tons of options. I ordered a sirloin done medium and it was the best I've had in a long time. Thick, juicy, minimal gristle, great flavors. I thoroughly enjoyed and would go again. Ahh, the bliss that is steak.

We came here for a business lunch. My business partners recommend this place. There were some highlights, which included good, friendly and fast service for a large party without a reservation. That goes a long way. We had a variety of things. The ahi burger and ahi poke looked good. This was confirmed by my compatriots. I had the fish tacos. They were kind of bland and didn't taste as fresh as you can get. I liked the variety on the menu. I'd give it another chance in the future but wouldn't order the fish tacos

We did not know what to expect, but this place checked all the boxes...great service, festive atmosphere, quality food, and wide selection of craft brews. Our table tried a flight of IPAs. Each was were very well done, but the Isomerizer IPA was my favorite. The burger was cooked perfectly, and the ginger crusted salmon should win a culinary award. If you are looking for a quiet evening, sit outside. It can get noisy inside, but this did not diminish the positive experience. Will definitely become a standard for us when working in the San Diego area.

My wife and I and a friend of ours went there for a Sunday brunch and it was well worth it. We were staying in Point Loma for the weekend so we knew were wanted to try this place so Sunday seemed like the perfect day for it. Before raving about this place, let me just say one bad thing. Though I don't drink, my wife and her friend do so they ordered the bottomless mimosa's. The mimosa was very watery and even when I drank from my wife's glass I could only taste water and barely any juice, let the champagne. It wasn't just our glasses, it was all of their pitchers, because walking back towards the restroom I could see the various pitchers sitting there and they were all pretty watered down. Okay, now let's move on the to good stuff. Their brunch was really good. Their service was very-very good. and the atmosphere was just great! The Japanese garden landscape was perfect. The variety of things to choose from was more than what I expected. Their omelets were great, fruit was fresh, and their desserts were also very good as well. It's a great place to have a good drink with friends, eat good food, and the friendly staff helps to make it a nice and relaxing setting. I'd definitely go back again.

This is the best location with the koi pond outside and both indoor and outdoor seating. Great food, service and beer. Ask your server to help you with beer selections if you are not sure what you want as they are very knowledgeable and have tried them already. Great place to hang out and have a beer, or have a great meal with friends or as a couple. Whenever we are in SD we always stop here.

Stayed at a hotel across the street on business and wandered over here for a solo Monday night dinner. The restaurant is tucked away in an office complex area but has maximized their space creating a beer oasis. Even on a Monday, the place was hopping. Had one of the small batch lagers from the tap and a turkey burger - both were fantastic. I wish this place existed near my home!!

Karl Strauss is a famous brewery. Among their brews, I'd probably go for their IPAs (good but not exceptional). As a vegetarian, I've typically ordered their finger food and veggie burgers. They used to carry a burger topped with jalapenos - it was awesome but they took it off the menu!

So parking is a trick but once seated you quickly forget about that. The gardens that surround you are perfectly tended and you forget that your smack in the middle of the city. I got adventurous and tried a new dish and was glad I did. So good!

We enjoyed great appetizers of Brussel sprouts with beer-brined bacon and another chili-lime sweet potato fries. Yumm! Flights of IPAs and Mosaic made it a great first course followed by chicken linguini (below) and a shared blue cheese burger that had a delish dipping sauce of blue cheese and onions. Amazing!! We had great service and friendly servers. Here was a happy buzz among all the fellow Karl Strauss guests. Enjoy!!

I am not a beer drinker but I went here following a recommendation. I had a wonderful time. I was traveling solo but still felt comfortable eating here alone. I had the Prime Top Sirloin with the garlic mashed red potatoes, sauteed broccolini and mushroom gravy. My steak was cooked perfectly (medium well). It was seasoned well and so delicious. I could have had a big bowl of their potatoes. They are so creamy and extremely tasty. I had the Chocolate on Tap for dessert without the ice cream. This is a chocolate lovers dream!!! I love how they incorporate beer in a lot of their dishes. Will definitely visit them again.

6 of us had dinner here twice. The first time we ate outside and watched the koi in the pond...and the egret watching them...and catching a couple of small ones. We had a wonderful waiter and the food was good except for the very thick crumbly hamburger buns that fall apart before you can eat the whole thing. The hamburgers were perfect except for that. We all had a lot of food and beer...and tried many kinds of beer! The next time we went, the outside seating was closed, so we ate inside. Wrong time of the day to go; many folks eating on their way home from the office. The place was packed and so loud we couldn't hear each other...or the waiter. He got our order wrong and it wasn't his fault-really loud! Food and beer was good again though; my mac and cheese was fabulous-I would order it again!

We have enjoyed many a good lunch & good brew here, but had a shock when we got our Bill Friday at lunch. The place is now adding a 3% service charge to their checks. Their price have always been on the high side, but food & service has been good. With the greed factor now part of the check they have lost us as a customer.

A bit disappointing coming here as a tourist and not bringing an ID in physical form. And the GM does not want to approve being served beer. Really disappointing experience.

SCENIC... Karl Strauss Sorrento Valley location is tucked away in a business park area -- not obvious unless you know it's there. The dining is unique in that you have a view of a lovely Japanese garden with a pond, bridge, shrubbery and koi. Just don't look beyond the trees too far or else you'll see the office buildings that surround it! I hadn't visited in probably over 20 years, but my husband had never been so we decided to visit while in the area. We were there on a Friday lunch and only waited about 10 minutes before getting a table. It's mostly a male business crowd from the surrounding offices at that hour. ...BUT SERVICE SLIGHTLY LACKED The ambiance is good, the food was good, the beers were good and the touchless ordering was ideal during Covid...HOWEVER, our food was delivered before our beers, so we had to ask where they were and the waiter went to chase them down and brought them over. We then had to ask him for plates since we were splitting the tacos, as well as for napkins/flatware. He seemed a tiny bit irked that he had to do this and we were never checked on again. Not sure if the touchless ordering will stay after Covid. It's convenient, but there's a certain lacking in personal contact. I would have given 5 stars if it hadn't been for the slightly lacking service. I believe the table was wiped, but it was the wood kind that was sorta sticky when you put your elbows on it! Overall, a unique location worth a visit. If you found this review useful, please click the thank button. :)

Lovely place next to peaceful Koi pond, ideal after a day in the office. Good mix of beers, some nights (e.g. Thursday - small batch keg night) you might get some free samples. Food is excellent and very well presented. Good value for money overall. Can get busy though, especially if there is a big game going on. Pork chops shown were pretty good, appetizers, desserts all good too

This was our first stop in San Diego. Very close to The Guild Hotel. Service was very friendly and efficient and food was great. I got a salad and my sister got chicken tacos. Both were very good. Big beer selection!

Wonderful place with the koi fishes and "nature" setting. Outdoor seating with heaters. Great service and great beer.. Loved the Endless Summer beer. Went there for a business event. The buffet they served was so so. The plank meat was a little tough to get thru. But all in all I would go back as the place has a lot of atmosphere. Lot of white color folks there as it is walking distance to a lot of large corporations.

The beer worth the walk and the food is really good. If I knew it before, I would have planned to have dinner there.

My good friend and I had brunch on 2/1, and she made a 10 AM reservation the day before, smart since it got crowded at 10 AM. The wait staff was on point, the prices, $26-29 each and the food choices were on point! They have lunch food, and of course breakfast food. The place sits beside a pond, and there’s a one man band near the bar - he sounded mellow & nice. Excellent parking (plenty in the parking lot), clean, clean bathrooms, and friendly management. There’s a patio facing this pond but I didn’t we didt sit outside. I recall a flight of mimosas, & beer was offered, and included in the all you can eat. It’s in a business park of buildings, Trust me, you’ll e back! It’s slamming good!

Different take on traditional fare. Club sandwich was unique. Friendly staff. Free beer samples. Recommend the stout

Thanks to Monica and Helen for making our daughter and son- in-law's wedding so special! Helen helped with all the planning and Monica was there for the event.Staff was so helpful and professional. It was such a lovely setting for an evening wedding. The food and cake provided were terrific.Everyone loved having all the space to move to different areas. We even had a children's corner! Thank you for making it such a special day for Molly and Alex!

We ordered the Golden Beet Bruschetta, Asada Fries, and the Piggy Bank. Plus a flight of beers for tasting. Golden Beet Bruschetta was amazing! I wasn’t sure what to expect but loved this! The problem... not enough wonton chips. The give you a large sample of bruschetta and a small bag of chips. We had to pay $2.95 for an extra bag of wonton chips for our bruschetta.... not cool. The Asada Fries were really good but very spicy. I have a low tolerance for spicy though... The Piggy Bank Mac and cheese was disappointing... I thought it lacked flavor. This was a dish that could have used something spicy... The beer flight... I’m not going to comment on other than to say I’m not beer person. I didn’t like it but didn’t really expect I would. The view and atmosphere were lovely. I liked the Japanese garden. The service was good. We got a server in training and he did a great job.

Visited today during Happy Hour which is held from 3 to 6 pm Mon thru Friday. The service was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient. The Happy Hour deals are great opportunity to try out various brews and food items. We enjoyed flights and more as well as the $5 appetizers that are tasty and plated beautifully. Boneless chicken wings are really great tastes of chicken fillets with some dipping sauce, carrots and celery; the cauliflower was perfectly delicious and the hummus with flatbread is a very generous portion...how can you go wrong at $5 each. My favorite was Wreck Alley Imperial Stout, but Smokey Robinson was mighty tasty as was their sour and barrel aged red trolley.

My experience here was with sirloin. Not good enough to be a 30 dollars steak dish. It was nothing special, very average. Other than that good place to grab a beer.

We visited this Karl Strauss location since it was within easy walking distance of our hotel. I was surprised of how beautiful the location was. We sat outside near the small lagoon. I enjoyed their wonderful craft beer and food. What made our visit special though was the wonderful service from our server Keivon. He was so good! He came by right as we were seated and went over the menu and the beers. He brought us over several beer samples right away. I've never seen such quick turnaround! We asked him if he could put on our local baseball team on one of the TVs (we were from out of town visiting our son at SDSU) and he spent the time finding our game through the numerous DirectTV channels. He was always around to help us with any requests we had. Plus we really enjoyed his fun conversations. Thank you Keivon for everything!

Met a friend for lunch. Had a very tasty hamburger with fries and a coke. Service was excellent. Might have to stop by after work to have drink some of their beer.

We have frequented Karl Strauss for 30 years and will never be paying a 'surcharge' to offset increased costs. Are you kidding? We all have increasing costs and don't charge people who walk into our homes a fee because the phone, electric, internet and cable cost more. You are a business that needs to and has the responsibility to work out your own increases in costs as I work out mine. We will not be paying your increases, this is your business, it's your obligation and cost of operating your business, figure it out without needlessly GOUGING customers who have paid for your doors to be open and lined your staff's pockets with plenty of money for more than 30 years as you continue to open new locations growing in leaps and bounds. RIDICULOUS~"A 3% surcharge is added to all guest checks to help take care of our team members, while offsetting increasing operating costs." Thank you for being so blatantly moronic by adding a fee to the entire public for your own gain. We have cancelled our future reservation and will not spend a nickle in your establishment again. I will happily divert all my prospective clients and business to alternate locations.

My Family took me to Karl Strauss for my Birthday. I had a great dinner and the setting was beautiful. We sat by this beautiful pond surrounded by trees. Service was very good. I ordered their Mac & Cheese with Beer-brined bacon, Black Forest ham, Andouille. Best Mac & Cheese I have ever eaten. I could only eat 1/2 of the serving because the serving was so large/ It left enough for a second meal.

This was the second stop on our mini brewery tour of San Diego and it was hopping when we arrived on a Wednesday night! Windansea is an awesome, lighter beer that would pair well with pub food, as well as on its own. I also tried Red Trolley, their Irish Red Ale, which was great. And if they have it, you have to try the Peanut Butter Cup Porter. You'd swear you're drinking a peanut butter cup!

Great food, excellent beers, outstanding service, all staff are on point, from the guest to the servers, bartenders everyone is doing what they are supposed to be doing. Highly recommend to make reservations as this place is ALWAYS busy , all items on the menu are very nicely paired with the beers on tap! Enjoy....

Conveniently located, if you know where it is. Its not easy to find. It is tucked inside of a bunch of office buildings. But, once you are inside, you will never know you are surrounded by offices in the tech world of San Diego. There is a large pond that runs the length of the restaurant that serves as a very cool focal point. Their beer selection is one of the best I've had in San Diego. Several options for every taste. We purchased the souvenir glasses just for fun. The menu is pretty diverse for a brewery type restaurant. Everything we have had here, for lunch or for dinner has ben fantastic. The portions are large and the service is above average.

Not that the beer isn't good, it's very good with good flavor, but it was the man & cheese that really made my meal. It was sooooo good! I had a side of it with my meal, which was massive. I can't imagine how big the full meal servings are. The brewery is nice and big. It's clean and in a good location just a few blocks from the bay. The service is great! Our server brought out different beer pairing samples she thought would be good with out meals. You can tell she really knows her beers. The rest of our meal was very good. Save room for dessert. There are some good ones on the menu.

We visited on a busy Friday for lunch, and the restaurant was lively and loud. The ambiance is high energy, though you can also sit outdoors on the deck adjacent to the lovely koi pond. Since it was unusually cold and breezy we chose to sit indoors. The waiter delivered our beers promptly while we continued to peruse the menu. Two of us chose the turkey burgers which were juicy and coated with salty cotija cheese. The fresh made chips were crunchy and warm and perfectly made. We had a side of truffle fries to share, and scarfed those down too. The waiter delivered a few small samplers of other beers throughout the meal. We will definitely be back!

They had a nice sampler called "the pilot" for beer flavor exploring newbies like myself. Cauliflower appetizer was really good!

This location is very secluded. The layout is awesome and the atmosphere is great. Food very good and beer is always second to none. Great locale right next to our hotel and adjacent to university. Always very consistent and good quality food and beer

We were traveling with the family and enjoyed very good food, and tasted different kinds of beer. I can clearly recommend this place.

I made my second and third visits to this Karl Stauss location during a recent work-related trip to San Diego. Located a few miles from my La Jolla hotel, it was a convenient place to meet up with an old friend one night, and grab a bite with a coworker a second. The location may seen odd, nestled into an office park. Don't be fooled! Once you park in the ample lot and meander down the path you will find a lovely location with plenty of outdoor seating surrounding a tranquil pond and indoor seating at tables or booths. After being seated by the host/ess, simply scan the QR code on the table to view the menu, order, and pay for your food. After placing our order each night our beer arrived almost magically fast, followed soon after by our food. There is minimal interruption by servers, but they are there enough so if you need anything you won't wait long. The first night I had the Chicken Chop Shop salad, which was huge and delicious. I paired that with a raspberry sour, which had just the right amount of sour. The beer was so good I had it the second night as well, this time with the Soul Bowl. The first night we were accompanied by a three year old, so we opted for a booth inside for containment purposes. The second night we were seated on the elevated deck, outside. San Diego was experiencing warmer-than-usual temps for October, so this was perfect!

The microbrewery fad has made it to San Diego! Dinner at Karl's was amazing, I started off with the fish and chips but substituted the slaw for charred brussel sprouts which were excellent! The fish was excellent as well!

Had IPA and ribeye steak Each beer or IPA has ratings plenty of choice to select Ribeye portion was decent with vegetables and fries Recommended for gathering place

We hosted our sons Wedding Rehearsal dinner here and the food was outstanding. I had the Blackened Salmon with green beans. The salmon was perfectly cooked and was topped with diced watermelon and cucumber and served with a citrus sauce. So light and refreshing. Husband had the beer brined pork chops with mashed potatoes. The sauce served with the chops tasted like a thickened soy sauce base and had a streak of spicy mustard layered on top. So good. Would have loved to had time to come back again during our trip and try some other items. The wait staff did a great job. Be aware that you don't really see the restaurant from the street. Just look across the parking lot to see the entry way and the restaurant sits low. I'm not a beer drinker, but the others seemed to have enjoyed the brews.

Pleasant bar service...great spot to get a beer and dinner solo. I ate there twice during a convention stay. Some healthy food choices as well as burgers. Enjoyed the ahi tuna salad. WAY too many IPAs on the beer menu (when will that silly trend run its course?) but some good real beer choices too.

Double awesome! Awesome food and awesome atmosphere. Piggy bank mac and cheese and the drunken cioppino was very good. Service was great and the wait was short. I recommend to all.

Excellent across the board. Stopped in for a quickie (beer) and stayed for some awesome appetizers (steak chunks and Brussels sprouts) and adult beverages. Manager had this place tackling the holiday crowds like any normal day. Looking forward to a return trip back.

Returning for a long weekend in the San Diego area we once again headed over to Karl Strauss for lunch and it was just perfect. Our waitress (and I am so sorry I did not catch her name) could not have been any nicer or professional...she was just the best. We had samples of their crafts brews and glasses of what we liked best and the squid, buffalo wings and burger to dine on and it was 100% perfect. We weren't rushed through our meal and we just hope the remainder of our visit will go as well as lunch at Karl Strauss!

We stopped by just for beer and had a good time sitting and chatting. Great location and extremely friendly staff.

Went here for a business dinner and it was great! They offer happy hour at the table. Service was so friendly and efficient. The food is amazing and you get so much for your money. I love this place!

I had salmon for lunch and steak for dinner. Both were ddelicious. There's 4 different beer in small glass for taste.

The restaurant is divided from the large car park by a well-kept garden which hides a small pond overlooked by the outdoor tables. You scan the QR code on the chosen table, order and pay, receiving the receipt directly to your email (you can also order at the checkout). The food is served at the table by the friendly and pleasant dining room staff. Truly exceptional beers (you can also buy on site) and quality ingredients are the right mix for a truly excellent meal. Just over $30 each (not including tip).

This Karl Strauss is a hidden gem that you should visit. You cannot see it from the street as it is inside one of the many corporate office building complex. Once you get in, you will be pleasantly surprised by the nice japanese garden including a pond. The bar is open to the garden. The food is normal bar food and beer is good. Definitely a good place.

This a very popular loud place ( read: very busy, expect a wait), but very fun. Great selection of hand crafted beers, ok wine, no hard stuff. We enjoyed our evening there, our thanks to our bartender Ulysses. This is not fine dining by any means, but food is ok. We would return.

Went with 4 persons, we were all pleased with our meal and beer's, can't recall what we had but it was a good dining experience with the outdoor pond and secluded location in a commercial park, would eat there again. Could use better signage for newcomers to locate.

We went to Karl Strauss on a visit to the San Diego area and we really liked the atmosphere of the brewery restaurant. There is a large pond next to the restaurant and we sat outside along the fence next to it. There are many large koi in the pond. The beer is good. There was a decent selection and flights were available for tastings. The food was also really good. Mostly the usual pub fare but done very well. We had some delicious burgers. Definitely a great place to spend an afternoon after a day on the beach.

A surprising relaxing setting and a busy place for brunch. Well set up , plenty of choice, good food, bottomless mimosas.. what more could you want..a two hour time frame which was sufficient..

I love exploring local craft brewing places so read some good reviews on this place and decided to give it a go. The choices of beers were great and the happy hour Apps just so tasty. We each ordered a flight of four beers, then I had a pint of my favourite. The ambience of the bar and outside sitting area is really nice and it was nice spending a couple of hours here. As well as the Happy Hours Apps we ordered the Brussels sprouts which were absolutely delicious.

This is a fantastic settings. And the brussel sprouts are amazing. But the braised ribs were a bit dry, but had good flavor.

Good Beer. Staff very attentive. Food was great. You can order what you like and the quality is very good. Joe

Went here in January, friendly staff, good beer, and good food. All around good experience, would def go back.

I did not expect the restaurant to be situated in such a wonderful scenery. A Japanese garden doesn't normally go together with a brewery. We had to wait for about 10 min before a table was available, but that gave is an opportunity to order a beer and enjoy the fishpond. The service was friendly and fast. I loved that the portions were not that big. My salmon tasted very good and felt fresh (as far as Norwegian Salmon can be fresh in San Diego) Overall a great restaurant to visit with good flavored food, relaxed service and a beautiful scenery.

They always seem to do something special with this entree. Loved the heat with their mashed potatoes . Won't disappoint. May be a wait, so make res for sure. Comfy seating in or out on patio. They offer complementary beer shots for those interested, and hot sour dough rolls. I can't say enough good things about this place. Good prices too.

Great place for a beer after a long day Walking around the city. The choice of beers, all brewed locally, was impressive. Asked what should I try? What kind of beer do you like? Got the recommendation spot on. The restaurant looks great too but was very busy.

Our local customer recommended KS for lunch. We were happy he did. I had the Ahi Tuna Salad and loved it. Our table and guest all enjoyed their lunch as well. Next time I will split a Farm burger with someone .... It is huge. Great lunch choice.

We came here for a group business dinner on the patio. The atmosphere was terrific, especially liked the garden with the pond. Food was great, lots of small plates for sharing. Would definitely eat here again!

Great location, good food and good beers, and great service as well Recommend the Asada fries, and the blue cheese melt burger Good value as well , really buzzy place with good atmosphere

Great beer, tasty food, nice service and beautiful grounds. Perfect place for a family get together.

Arrived and was seated outside (by request) immediately upon arrival. Server was both attentive and entertaining. I ended up getting their big burger, my daughter their sausage with a side of their well renowned mac and cheese. Tried their beer flights and was pleased with the best being their stout (both our opinions). Near the end of the meal server even gave us a taste of one of their sour cherry beers gratis. Overall good food and beer at a fair price.

I am a beer tourist. Their beer lineup was solid. I had a flight of their hoppy beers and they were good. My wife was a little disappointed in their menu as it all seemed spicy. I love spice. The hoppy beers pair well with it. Of note, the waitstaff/bartender was fantastic and was very knowledgeable of the beers on premise as well as the current beer scene.

Karl Strauss Brewing Company has great food and drinks. The atmosphere has an outdoor feel with open walls. The Koi pond is beautifully kept up, and the service is great!!

Been to this karl Strauss a few times with co-workers n friends. Good beer and appetizers are tasty. Garlic fondue and Brussels sprouts are my favorite. Red trolly great, thier kolsh and amber are good.

For the last few years, the wife and I have been coming to this place pretty much bi monthly. We've never gone for lunch or dinner but we absolutely love their brunch buffet. It includes a flight of beer or bottomless mimosas in the price. Not only do they have an amazing number of options, the food tastes amazing and the quality is outstanding. They have an omelet station, pasta station, carving station, the best fish and chips I've ever had, pancakes, waffles, buffalo chicken strips that are to die for. A long time ago they had an amazing spinach dip but I haven't seen it in about a year or so. They have muffins and bagels, bacon, sausage, everything you could want. The servers are always friendly and they are NOT slow to refill those mimosas. My advice; MAKE A RESERVATION. I've never seen them slow or not busy for brunch. They are slam packed every weekend. I always get the first reservation of the day at 10 am. I've made reservations later and always have to wait because people are lingering at the tables. It's so worth the visit. It has gorgeous decor with a beautiful koi pond and a live musician comes and plays his guitar and sings. It's just a great brunch. It may be a touch difficult to find if you've never been there before.

Came back there at least two times. One in lunch time another for dinner. Many choices for beer and food is good, too.

Karl Strauss was the brewmaster at PBR, he moved to San Diego to start his own brewery and it sparked the craft beer revolution. They have plenty of styles for even the most demanding of palates. The food here is good and very generously served, I had the hummus plate and the fish and chips and oh boy, it was plenty of food (some people like that). it gets very busy around happy hour and dinner so there's that (plan ahead). I would say it's worth a visit (or several,my here's so much beer to try). Beer is excellent, must be something in San Diego's water because most of the breweries here have tasty brews.

Enjoyed our recent lunch at Karl Strauss. We came with a large group and sampled a nice flight of brews. Hubby had the Ahi Tuna Salad, which was delish. Friends had the fish n' chips, which they pronounced great; and I had the PAC Man Mac & Cheese, which was awesome! Of our flight of four brews, my fave was the Mosaic Session Amber with the Red Trolley Alley a close second. If you go, ask for a table on the veranda/patio to enjoy the sunshine!
Nice Place to Unwind
We stopped at the Karl Strauss Brewery / Restaurant after a long day at a trade show. The service was fast and friendly, the beer was exceptionally good, and the food was really tasty as well. The Ahi Poke appetizer was phenomenal. My only complaint would be that the hamburger buns are really dry and bready - it really took away from an otherwise well-cooked burger.
