first I'd say that I got in on 2100 when the restaurant is supposed to be closed at 22:00 and was the last and only eater. might be that in rush hours the food is better though I doubt it all n all the food felt fresh, it just lack some spices and taste. the 3 sauce balls that came with the papad didn't look so tempting. seems as they went through a long day.. samosa was hot, crispy and fresh, it just wasn't so tasty the garlic nan was fresh and good I am vegetarian, so didn't try any of their fish or meat dishes. the vegetable korma was OK,not something to tell at home

Great food. Very strange, that you can you hotness in 7 levels. a "very hot" Korma makes no sense. Very informal. By the way - level 6 in hotness (hot) is VERY hot. It must be an Indian scale.

Look no further if you want to eat Nepali/Indian food. Very courteous staff. We went on a Friday night and ordered a-la-carte. We were both vegetarian and hence we ordered Paneer and Bhindi with Yellow Dal. Pretty good overall!

During our recent trip to India, we had a nine hour layover at Seattle (from about 9AM to 5PM), so we decided to visit the Space Needle. We booked the tickets using the Space needle website, and chose the 11-11:30 AM slot to allow enough time to exit the airport, take an Uber, and reach the Space Needle. The line to the top was almost half a mile long, and the crew had a system going to manage the crowd. (Review on Space Needle as a separate post). After an unfortunate experience at Tandoori Hut where they were not open, we walked to Kastoori Grill for lunch around 1PM. The restaurant is close to the Pike Place Market (those who play Monopoly know this well). The area was crowded and so was the restaurant. After a brief wait (about five minutes), we were seated at our table. First impressions - the ambience of the restaurant needs serious work. We felt the restaurant very cramped and dirty. The plumbing was visible, and the roof was very low. However, in my opinion, despite this, the restaurant gets adequate traffic that they can "get away" without upgrading the ambience. We decided to go for the lunch buffet. We noticed that most of the plates were "chipped". They had a decent collection of items in the buffet - a cold section with salad, raitha, pickles. There were two hot soups - which we avoided. There were about six non-veg items - which we avoided as we were vegetarians. My pet peeve with these restaurants is that we end up paying to carry for the non-veg folks in the "per plate" cost instead of having two prices - one for veg only folks and one for non-veg folks... There were six veg items - a liquid potato curry with potato cut in strips, a mixed vegetable curry, a yellow tadka dal (which was tasty), a broccoli and mixed vegetable curry, chana masala, and navarathna kurma. I did not like the naan as it was too doughy, though it appeared to be freshly made. The kids were charged a reduced rate, the total came to about $36 for the four of us, which was nominal. Will I visit this place again? Probably as it is the only Indian restaurant in the area that is accessible, although the ambience needs serious work.

Excellent Location, Good Lunch Buffet! However, several of the main dishes have been modified to suit american palate and have lost authenticity. Still good food and service. It is my default place to eat whenever I am in Seattle. I will recommend it to anyone looking for Indian food in Seattle, especially the lunch buffet.

Korma, dal, paneer, naan... gulab jamun! This buffet has all of the best vegetarian Indian and Nepalese food (and non-vegetarian), plus a regular menu. We got in and out quickly and the service was good. If you're in the mood for Indian Kastoori won't disappoint.

We were in Seattle downtown and were looking for Indian food, we went there and had lunch buffet.. it was average.. Place could be better managed..

It closes @9:30 whereas as TripAdvisor it closes at 11 but when I call them it was already closed at 9:30

Usually, when I am in Seattle and feel like dining Indian, I go to Bellevue. But I did not want to go there this time so searched the Internet for Indian restaurants. Several came up but Kastoori was the closest to my hotel and still had good reviews. I have been at Public Market quite often but never noticed this restaurant, which is very close to that place. That said, I went here and it smelled great entering the restaurant. I was seated by friendly staff, was given three delightful sauces with a papadum and ordered a vegetable samosa and a small Taj Mahal beer. The papadum was great, the sauces were superb and the samosas were also very, very good. The small vegetables on the side were also fresh and very tasty. Main dish was vegetable Biryani and a garlic nan with a Mango lassi. Again all were above expectations. Why? Because this restaurant is not very chique or classy. But Everything from the kitchen was simply excellent. Sometimes a good indication when many Indian people dine here. Real Indian, Tibetan chefs also gives confidence of an authentic kitchen. Well, my verdict is a must visit. If you love Indian food, this is definitely one to check out. Great quality for a very reasonable price.

I had the palak lamb and my wife had the butter chicken. Really good food! I had the spice level at medium and it was really mild. I like spicy food but not too crazy. Next time I'll get medium hot. My wife had mild and I don't think they put any spice at all but it was still quite good!! The pictures below are the lamb and chicken. The butter chicken sauce is a buttery tomato sauce and was pretty amazing! My lamb had a spinach cream sauce and was also pretty good. The lamb was really tender and cooked quite well. 5/5 for the food. The atmosphere was a quite outdated and they could do quite a bit to bring it up to date and make it feel more welcoming. I wish they had some Indian music playing (no music at all) as that would've added to the experience. 3.5/5 because it needs a little help with decor/paint/updating. For $40 with tip (didn't get bread) I'd come back here again!!!

We shared two appetizers for a small people... the curried mussels, garlic naan and steamed chicken dumplings. The flavors were fantastic!

I stopped in this restaurant because I was by myself and the buffet caught my eye. For 10 bucks you can get a taste of all the delicious flavors of India. The food was good, service good. It was the last hour of the buffet and they still had everything to offer and everything was excellent quality. It is right outside Post alley.

Service is prompt. Really fast with the complimentary starter (roasted papad (Indian tortilla made from lentils), it was placed even before the order was placed. Food: I had gone with the intent of having a buffet but realized that they only have it during lunch hours. So I ordered a Dal Makhaani (Black lentil curry). I asked for a spice level of medium hot but got my calibration wrong. I guess hot or extra hot would be more apt for the Indian taste bud. The curry is accompanied by rice so be cognizant while ordering the same. The quantity of rice and curry is more than sufficient for 1 person. I really liked the way they served the curry. It is placed on top of a mini stove so that it remains warm.

We dont have any indian food in our hometown and have been craving it for months! This place delivered! It was not as rich as most places ive been but was very good. We had chicken tikka masala and veg jalfrezi and garlic naan. Plan to go back for lunch buffet soon!!

We both enjoyed our meals. The tandoori salmon was some of the best salmon I tasted on our vacation. But - the decor is tired and dated. Please do some cleaning - especially around the ceiling lights and fire sprinklers - it looks pretty disgusting - like it has never been cleaned. Time this restaurant got an update, and a clean.

First time in Seattle and looking for a nice sit down meal. We just happened to find the Kastoori Grill and really enjoyed it. The restaurant is under new management and still learning the business, but the food quality and taste is excellent. We are not well versed in the Indian cuisine, but the server was helpful in suggesting menu options. We ordered the chicken tika masala and the chicken boti and shared with each other. Both were very tasty and plentiful. Our plates were clean and our stomachs were full. Visit and help them stay in the restaurant business and you will be both glad you did and help keep them open in Seattle.

We ate here based on previous reviews and it did not disappoint. The service was good and the meal was wonderful.

Wow!! You better have laundry after going in there. I had dinner there and did not stay long. Food was Ok, but the smell was very strong; it felt like it attached itself to my cloth, my skin, my hair etc. It stayed for days in my house, even though I showered immediately after coming back from that restaurant and washed all my cloth. I love Indian food and I go to Indian restaurants all the time. This one was different with very strong smell. I am not less attracted to Indian spices because of it. So be wary and know what you are getting yourself into.

This is really good near pike place if you want vegetarian food. I got Naan and Paneer and it was tasty

Wonderfully authentic Indian food. The service was great. The quantity was perfect. Don't let the lack of ambiance in this restaurant fool you, it is a must do if you like Indian food. Our wait staff was wonderful.

food is excellent! currys, chicken mango and coconut chicken are recommended. mix green salad for me is a no no ... vege paneer was really good. thumps up! a repeat!

Lot of variety especially if you eat Non vegetarian. But the taste is just about ok. There are better Indian restaurants around.

Near Pike Place market. Very basic interior, both seating and tables. Open kitchen very close to dining area so, yes, clothes smelt of Indian cooking afterwards! Large menu, and excellent and spicy food - the place was full of Indian clients when we were there which we take as a goo sign.

When I travel to a city I don't know, I always consult Tripadvisor. I had some time to kill in Seattle, and I like Indian food, so I searched for nearby places and found the Kastoori Grill. It was only a few blocks away. When I walked in I wondered if I'd mistakenly gone to the wrong place! The restaurant is on the ground floor (actually below the street for more than half). It's decorated in gloss enamel, red and green and yellow, over cracked stucco and a concrete floor in what looks like it should be a warehouse. The space is vinyl booths and little tables and little decor, a bit of mood music, and lighting is about 50% wrongly-themed fixtures and the other 50% just compact fluorescent bulbs in bare sockets on a track of industrial conduit. The kitchen is immediately to the right behind a plywood counter and folks seem busy. There's a stainless steel cart at the end where it seems they pass orders between waitstaff and kitchen staff. Hmm... not a good first impression. Things went downhill from there. The server was insipid. The menu booklet was dirty. I'm used to a lack of polish in Indian restaurants and I know folks go there for the food. But come on, make a little effort, eh? I ordered a chicken Rogan Josh, medium-hot, some garlic naan, and a diet coke. Two minutes later I'm told they're out of diet coke, and all other diet pop for that matter. I stuck with water. After a long wait my meal came composed of a basket with naan, a small bowl with rice, and a nice little metal dish with the rogan josh on top of a base that held a tea light. The food was hot, the rice was dry, the naan tasted like garlic powder, and the rogan josh was liquid with a couple of bits of onion, one (yes just one) lonely pea, and a generous portion of very tender chicken. Well, I guess the very runny liquid could re-hydrate the dry rice? The chicken was very tender, but the flavor was nearly non-existent. I like some heat but the best that this could be called was "mild". I finished my meal quickly and left even faster. As I waited to pay my bill I looked over at that stainless steel cart that separated the dining area from the kitchen. There on the corner was a cardboard box curry sauce that you'd buy in a grocery store. Perhaps that explains the flavor. Before I chose this place I read probably 30 reviews written by other guests. Some commented on the grim decor, but nearly every one raved about the food. I saw nothing and tasted nothing in my experience that corroborated what I read. Perhaps my experience was an anomaly? Whatever the explanation, it was a terrible meal and not worth $20 plus tip.

We wanted to dine at one of the restaurants in the market but found it already closed for the evening, so ended up settling for this place solely based on the aromas coming from the door and large number of patrons inside. It was a blind date of sorts, and the food was pure delight. The ambience is quite unassuming, and may be put-offish to some, but our dinner was fabulous. Don't leave without trying the curry mussels!

What great cooking. Great flavors perfectly done dishes. Clean restaurant and bathroom. Pleasant staff. The owner and Cook came out and chatted. All in all, a very nice meal.

Don't let the interior fool you when you enter, the quality of the food is far beyond the impression you get when you first sit down. The menu has a mix of Nepalese and Indian foods. The best curry from my experience of eating there now three times is their Kastoori curry which is similar to Butter chicken but not a creamy and a bit of a spicy kick. The breads excellent and I would suggest trying the onion kulcha if one wanted to be more adventurous. It's location on the western end of Stewart St. puts it practically at the Pike Place market and is easy to get there after spending a day at the market.

The place wasn't trendy or gorgeous. I felt like I was on a quiet but decent side street in Mumbai where you could get good food and lots of it for a reasonable price. There was a buffet with excellent choices, naan that was hot and tasty, and desserts of mango sherbet and rice pudding that made my taste buds very happy. Pike Place Market and tons of shopping are just steps away. I loved this place.

After accidentally planning to spend Thanksgiving in Seattle we weren't left with much choice of places to eat. Luckily for us Kastoori was open and we came across it. It's right near the market and is a lot bigger inside than it looks. The food was excellent and the service was great. We'd go back if we returned to Seattle.

Delish!!!!!!! Nepal food, amazing food. My favorite Indian place in Washington this far! Anything you order will be good!

Great food, great staff, quick service. Loved the dal (lentils) and shahi paneer. They need some ventilation though. I shouldn't say some; they need heavy duty exhaust fans.

Good restaurant which doesn't look like much, the interior deserves a good clean and the decoration could be revised (no frame on the wall is straight, the walls need to be washed as one can imagine the successions of grease and steam in superimposed layers over time). Setting aside the environment, our dishes were all very good and beautifully served with candles to maintain the heat.

After eating around American food for days, we had this strong yearning for Indian food and found this place close to our hotel. Given the reviews were decent, I and my friend decided to visit Kastoori Grill to treat ourselves. But we were disappointed. The food is a bad version of what Indian cuisine has to offer. However, we felt little better about this place when we had dinner the next day at Daawat, another Indian restaurant in the city. So I guess though Kastoori isn't the best place to have Indian food, it may be one of the better places. Coming to food, our order of naan, roti, paneer tikka, yello dal and aloo matar took some time to arrive, but it arrived hot and smelling wonderful. I must say the roti was good, though the naan resembled a pizza base. Aloo matar was bad with huge chunks of potatoes and onions to struggle with. Paneer was very acidic. No where near to what paneer tikka should be. However the dal was good. that was our savior dish of the day! To add to the not so good food was the bad service. I must say terrible terrible service that spoilt the whole dining experience.

Smells wonderful from the door. Good food, large portions, choose your spice level. I had 4 on a scale of 1-5 and it was very nice. Just the right amount of heat.

I enjoyed the food; thought it was pretty good, although the lamb was a little inferior quality. I don't eat a lot of Indian food, so I enjoyed trying something new. Companions liked their choices too. Naan was good; skip the garlic naan. Restaurant could have felt cleaner. Service was pretty good - we had a group of 6. We closed the place down at 9:00 pm.

The food is delicious; the atmosphere OK. The food is easily 5*; the atmosphere 2 or 3. We had a momos appetizer which was very tasty. The entrees were Tandoori Chicken and Palak Paneer. We really enjoyed our food. We'll definitely make a return visit.

After checking out the other Tripadvisor reviews, we ate here while walking around downtown on vacation. Prior comments about the decor/ambience being lacking are correct, but we've eaten at plenty of sketchy looking places (actually reminded us of restaurants we've eaten at in India) so that didn't bother us. Unfortunately, that's where the comparisons to India cuisine end. We tried several vegetarian dishes which were ok- the Kashmiri kofta was passable and had that tired-tomato-soup-sauce taste that is unfortunately all-too-common in Indian restaurants these days: not well spiced at all and bland. Bland Indian food!

This is a nice restaurant located on the corner of post alley by Pike Place. The Nepalese dishes are great and are available as an entree or from a buffet. The service was prompt and attentive. We enjoyed our meal here and would dine here again.

Although value for the money you pay, miss the authenticity. Food quality - average Service - great staff Price - very good $

Had the Kastoori Curry with lamb and it was among the best Nepalese/ Indian curries I've ever had. The garlic naan and biryani were delicious too. My boyfriend loves and can handle his spicy food, but when he asked for his biryani extra hot and spicy, they definitely delivered and then some. Good price and good location-- close by our hotel and the pike place market. Would visit again when I'm in Seattle.

Quirky place near Pike Place Market. Pretty much a hole-in-the-wall. Low ceilings, loud cuisine-appropriate music, and an open kitchen (but not in a trendy kind of way). But, friendly, efficient service and very tasty food. If you have a craving for Indian food, give this place a try. They do take-out, too! Recommend!

Located in downtown and in a big city, one would expect high quality but it falls short of expectation by far. I ordered Tandori Chicken which was both undercooked and had disproportionate quantity of spices. One piece had way too much salt while another had very little. The Nan were also of very low quality.

I went here for lunch the other day and was pleasantly surprised. They had a large buffet set up but we decided to go off the menu and had a Lamb Kastoori curry and rice, popadoms and a very nice cold beer. The lamb was cooked to perfection and the buttery rich sauce of the curry was divine. I scoffed up every morsel. The place itself could certainly use a make-over, but at the same time it has a certain authenticity about it, which might sound a bit daft but it reminded me of an Indian restaurant where I worked as a teenager in London that had great food but the place itself was a bit of a dive. I probably wouldn't come back here for a romantic evening with my dearly beloved but I definitely come back with friends, or solo, for a very tasty meal. And a nice cold beer.

One of the best affordable and delicious Indian Lunch buffet that i have ever tasted. Their Tandoori Chicken is well spiced and has a great flavour, the Marsala, The goat stew, The daal and of course their Naan bread is always freshly made and from scratch. Service is good, servers are always around if you need them to refill your glass. (they always do) the place is clean and packed during lunch which is a good sign. for Dessert, they do have a mango ice cream vending machine (soft serve) and a pudding, a cake or flan...but the best is still gulab jamun. Sinfully delicious dough ball (fried) and covered in syrup.

If you are in or around Pike Place Market, this Indian/Nepali/Tibetan restaurant is a must visit either for lunch or for dinner. Their food is so excellent, that you will keep licking your fingers post meal. The restaurant has a lunch buffet every day till 15:00 and then closed for an hour and opens again at 16:00 for a la carte menu. Best dishes on the menu are the chicken tikka and the garlic naan. They are very tasty. The portions are also generous enough that a couple can share a curry item with two naans (Indian breads). The service is also exception with the waiters very attentive to all your needs. They are always immediately filling your water glass as soon as you have drunk your water. Liked this attention to detail. The restaurant also has delivery service. Although not from their own. You need to be a member of Uber Eats or Amazon Prime in the US to get them to deliver to you. I used Uber Eats to get food delivered to my hotel a couple of times for dinner. I wholeheartedly recommend everyone to visit this restaurant.

We went in the restaurant only to have samosas and the smells were so wonderful we ordered non and chicken korma!!! It was wonderful! Best I have had in a while. In fact we are right now contemplating canceling our dinner reservations at Black Bottle to go here instead. Will keep you posted.

The food is very good. A pleasant surprise to find a half decent curry in the US. The venue is bizarre, seems very disheveled and make do, almost utualitarian / industrial. The staff were lovely and very friendly. The toilets are bizarre, the urianal is oddly high up and the walk to them is down a very weird hallway. Very odd indeed. However, good food so hey ho.

Kastoori is under new management for last year plus. Food is wonderful at this family run operation. Few thoughts …heat up the plate you are serving the food on as hate a cold plate. The Naan bread was not hot enough and needed a few more min of cooking. The restaurant would benefit from some softening …piped music, pictures on the wall, cushions etc. Wish you great luck as it’s hard to build something new.

I visited this restaurant on 21st Aug along with my friends. After landing in Seattle city, wanted to explore an Indian food so got this place with Google search. This place had a delicious list of buffet menu with both veg and non-veg. There is a standard charge of $11 across Seattle for all Indian food buffet which is worth exploring.

We were looking for a place to eat after walking around the Pike Place Market area, and found this place. Nothing fancy on the inside, but the Indian\Nepalese food was phenomenal. Be careful not to over order, as the portions are large. The biryani dish was easily enough for two people. The momos, their version of dumplings, were delicious. I had the murgh bahar, which was delicious and spicy. Very reasonably priced. If you're in the mood for Indian food and you're in the area, definitely check it out.

My family found this place by accident but are very glad we did. Chatting with the owner,we learned he had just taken over the business and he and his wife were working hard to get this place going. He could not have been helpful and friendly. The food as well was excellent. We all very much enjoyed our meal and would go back again. Give this place a try!

The other reviewers have already said this, but this is one of the oddest locations and set ups for a restaurant. That being said, the staff are friendly and the food is great!

We went to the restaurant while we were Pike Place Market. Although the interiors could probably benefit from some renovations, the food was very good. We went in hoping to eat some Tibetan and Nepali food. We didn't see any of that, but what we ate was tasty and worth the money.

So, we stopped over in the Pike Place area and wanted a quick bite but something still substantial for an early dinner. We should have kept walking….the place is off one of the many alley style streets and feels basement like. Ok, not a problem. It's classically over done in decor, but still ok we can handle that. There are quite a few customers and the overall reviewers seemed to be ok. So, we go in the server is delightful…the good things end there. The food was subpar at best. We were served what tasted like watered-down Naan and under flavored curries, oh and warm juice..sigh. The bathroom is indeed very shabby (see another review) and less that "clean". But the kicker is…we ate there 2 days ago and we are both still experiencing stomach woes. The 6 hours right after were the worse so I'm quite happy my stomach is starting to feel like a stomach again. NEVER AGAIN!

We wandered in not expecting much from this restaurant. It is/was a hole in the wall to be quite honest. The service was incredible. Attentive not pushy, and unfailingly polite and accommodating. The food was AMAZING. We had a mix of tandoori dishes and a vegetarian option with a heap of naan. The tandoori was delivered to the table absolutely piping hot and was the most delicious I’ve ever had. This place was by far the best we tried after 5 days in Seattle. Give it a visit. You won’t regret it!!

My husband and I were looking to have a Seattle dinner experience and walked by the grill on our way to another recommended location. As we strolled by, the air was filled with the aroma of amazing food! We first went to the place around the corner and were ignored. So, still thinking about the amazing smells coming from Kastoori Grill we left our table and walked back up the block to check it out. We were not disappointed! The wait staff was courteous and helpful with my gluten allergy. The next day we returned for the lunch buffet and received the same great service. We would return regularly if we lived in the area!

At Pikes Place and the traditional spots had 45 minute waits. The aromas coming from Kastoori lured us in. The buffet was the standard India fare and standard tastes but the mango soft serve was heavenly. Service was good and the price was reasonable.

This place was right down the street from our hotel, and right next to Pike Place Market, so we went in. We had the Curried Mussel Clams ($8.95) appetizer and Garlic Naan Bread ($3.95) appetizers. The clams are excellent and the sauce is amazing. Make sure and get the Naan Bread to dip in the sauce! I ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh ($14.95) dinner. Lamb cooked in fresh tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, ginger and onion curry sauce with basmati rice. It was very good, except I could have done without the stems on the pepper corns (can't chew them). My wife ordered the Shrimp Palak ($14.95) which was supposed to be shrimp cooked in spinach gravy and finished with a garlic cream sauce. When her entree arrived, it had a greenish color so we thought it was the Spinach (we don't have alot of experience with Indian cuisine, we just know that we like it!). But after awhile she decided there was no spinach in her dinner and it was very bland other than the shrimp. So we called over the waitress and asked what she had brought. She admitted that she had brought Shrimp Daal Curry (also $14.95). My wife was disappointed that she didn't get what she ordered, but by this time she had eaten half of her dinner, so we couldn't really demand a refund at that point. Still, I would normally expect a restaurant to at least comp HER meal under these circumstances! When we received the bill we were surprised to see that the waitress had gone ahead and charged us full price for everything! Needless to say, she got no tip from us! Another thing I noticed was that it was a little smoky in the restaurant. It's underneath another building, so I think they don't have proper ventilation. I had eaten in the same building before when it was a different restaurant, and I kind of remember they were having the same problem. I noticed there were several people coughing (more than normal), so maybe not a place to go if you have breathing issues. That being said, we might give them another chance next time in Seattle, just because the food was good!

If you're looking for phenomenal cuisine then look no further! The interior is deceptively spacious like a tent in Harry Potter, and the curry is to die for

We went at lunch and did the buffet. Very good price. Dal and Naan was good. Tiki Korma had really good flavor. Overall a good choice for lunch.

We went here for late lunch. For Veterinarians the menu had limited options. The portions were quite large. Found the food below average. So was decor and staff.

We have had Chicken Tika Masala at several Indian restaurants around the country. The sauce here was very creamy - more than my preference. We ordered medium-hot and it was not as spicy as I would have preferred. The garlic naan was huge - too much butter for my taste. Service was very good and friendly staff. Worth trying again.

location of the place is good. food was served late but they informed everything is prepared fresh when order is placed ambiance of the place is not that great but the food is really good

This place is certainly nothing to look at inside, but it serves the most amazing baingan bharta that I have ever had. Naan was amazingly fresh and portions were large. Overall the best meal I had in Seattle and super close to Pike Place market, so you can shop and eat in one fell swoop.

I love Indian and Napali food. This place is not amazing to look at nor is it fancy. But the service is really friendly. The food is what's amazing. Spiced and tasty. All the dishes I had were some of the best I have experienced. The chicken pakoras excellent. The mixed rice perfect. The coconut dream amazing. Level 4 spicy may have been almost too much as my nose runs and my face sweats but I loved it.

- very friendly staff - fresh great original India/Nepal kitchen - We stumbled into it and had a great dinner - not most beautiful restaurant - good located - high recommended

Great food...great family food cooked just right. Whenever i come to Seattle i go there and take a lamb korma with plain nan; I love it. The nans are really the best ones ever eaten. I travel worldwide and go to indian restaurant as much as I can and this one is my favorite. It is not a "marketing restaurant"; Real food with real people cooking and real people serving.

Lovely guys serving but overall service (speed, quality of English comms, etc!!) not ideal. Food only ok, pappadoms microwaved?, picked dish not pickles just sauces, Tibetan mains a little bland. Bottle of Pinot arrived opened / poured and not that nice tbh (decanted?). Shame really

Went to this restaurant based on a review and it did not disappoint. The food is really tasty and the service is excellent. Lovely staff v family friendly and quick service. The samosas were so fresh and the mango curry was superb, it was made with chicken thigh, so if this is a concern, maybe ask for options. The naan bread was also delicious and overall it was a great meal. Wine list is limited but lots of beer options. “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious mango curry” - was my daughter’s review.

Didn't look like much from the outside, but I could smell the wonderful Indian spices. It was a real treat. Very authentic Indian and Nepalese. Service was fine, quick and effiecent. The Lamb Korma was excellent, some of the best I've had. Convienentlly located in the Pikes Market area

The restaurant was empty at a time when most places in Pike’s Market were crowded, which should have been the tip off that the food wouldn’t be anything special. The space is dark with a 1950s feel.

Casual setting that does have the feel of a place in Katmandu. And the food is surprisingly delicious. Had the "momos" (Nepalese specialty) which were great, with a tasty sauce, a little spicy but not too much. My partner had the Tqndoori shrimp which was abundant and flavorful. All in all, great value, and a great choice just a half a block away from the crowds in Pike Market.

This place is kind of a hole-in-the-wall. It's just around the corner from Pike Place Market, located in a historic building. The decor is definitely historice, i.e. dumpy. It kind of added charm to the whole experience. The menu is extensive. The service is very friendly, if not all that efficient. Our server was a young lady who was extremely shy. The food was ok. We were hungry, and it hit the spot. But I've had WAY better Indian cuisine. I don't think I'd feel the need to return to this place.

What a shame! The authentic spice smell hits you when you walk in and is really traditional inside. Great menu. Service a little slow. Ordered but unfortunately tandoori chicken was raw in the middle! They did cancel the bill but we left anyway.

Excellent chicken tikki masala, good mango curry and pretty good paneer with spinach. I would try some of the other specialties next time- we started safe. Indian restaurants are seldom known for atmosphere, and this is no exception. It was clean and pleasant. decent wine list. I bet the buffet would be a great way to sample more things.

Good place for Indian, Nepalese cuisine at a place near pike market in a busy Seattle down town.after hectic activity

Several staff, probably owners, take point as table servers with glowing smiles. Other comparisons elsewhere in the area fall way short as Kastoori has some seriously fresh veg as well as gorgeous meat selections on their hot buffet. Two soups, salad makings, basmati rice, the best chili fish imaginable, butter chicken, fried veg puppies, naan, goat curry, chicken curry, daal, on and on with rice pudding, mango freeze, and sweet dumpling balls to finish it off. If there is a line, WAIT, it is worth it. They have enough staff on duty to be snappy with bussing tables and keeping the buffet topped off. Basic atmosphere, but the chili fish will overwhelm you with goodness. It's so busy because Kastoori is value priced too! Just outside of the tourist crush.

Steps away from Pike's Market. Much more than your standard Indian. The menu and buffet feature Indian, Nepali and Tibetan fare. The vegetable dishes are way more varied and interesting and there is a great variety of spice - different flavors and mild to hot. There were probably 6 vegetable and 5 meat dishes. Lots of fruit and salad. The buffet was just under $11 per. We were there Sunday at 2:30 for the buffet that closes at 3:00. The buffet was still fully stocked with every dish. Do buffet or a la carte. The Fish Chili dish was the best at the steam table. Small chunks of fresh fish, a dry dish, cooked with red spices, onions and a little garlic. Wonderful taste. Never had seen such a dish before anywhere. The goat curry was excellent. Don't mind the bones. The meat was tender and very nicely spiced. The spicy chicken curry was excellent, dark meat (I think) with dark sauce that was medium to a little spicy. The raita was excellent and the mint chutney was very unusual and very tasty. More liquid than most with a yellow color. The naan was nicely done and plentiful. They have a desert bar that includes an ice cream machine churning out mango soft serve ice cream. Terrific end to a very very good and unusual buffet. Not your typical indian. The interior is unique. Little natural light. Almost basement-like. You can see the food prep areas. Cooks coming and going. We loved it and sat after the meal people watching - not folks on the street but all the families and kids enjoying late lunch in the restaurant. We will definitely return on our next trip to Seattle.

I had the lunch buffet and was surprised how good the food was. They had chicken breast chunks in the Tiki Masala. You got Naan with your meal and they had a pretty good selection on the buffet (Tandoori chicken, spicy chicken). The service was good. The only real negative is the décor. It was dark and dingy. I will return to this restaurant for lunch but would not take a date here.

Sorry to say, but the worst Indian food i had never ate. Burned, taste was terrible. Just basic Chicken Tikka Masala, but chef can not make it

You know those restaurants that smell so good when you walk in, you know you're going to enjoy yourself? That's Kastoori. This was one of the best Indian meals I've ever had. The food was outstanding. Service was very good as well. I'd highly recommend this place.

Kastoori grill serves Indian and Nepali food . The taste is average , the service is pathetic . No one shows up to your table in-spite of calling multiple times and staff is not at all professional. The waiters are not attentive and don't expect sorry on dropping water on the table. We ordered channa dal and veg karahi. And both were served with rice , we had to order naan seperately. The food taste average. The place is really mediocre and nothing special about it. I do not recommend it and there are much better places to eat . Considering they are located in Seattle downtown they should improve ambiance , taste and off course service.

Well, despite mixed reviews, we decided to have dinner here. The place had perhaps 10 people in it. We immediately had a single papadam with three different (and very hot) condiments. Two people - one papadam. Oh well ;) So, thinking they might be a little heavy handed with heat, we ordered a mild, chicken tikka masala and a mango curry with basmati rice and a single order of plain naan. The flavours would be best described as "good but not great". Portions were generous. We had asked for white meat for the mango curry (since these are often made with dark, sometimes sinewy off cuts). Not sure how the communications broke down, but the curry was clearly made with dark meat despite the waitress saying "no problem". The tikka masala was, as expected, made from breast meat. Anyway, the service was good. We left after paying at the front of the dining room. It was an interesting evening, to be sure.

We stopped by for the lunch buffet because we like Indian food and it was convenient. The decor is as described by others (eclectic), but I think that's probably fine with the groups of young men that came in for lunch. We were seated quickly and immediately went to the buffet. There was a good assortment of food and I sampled most of it. However, some of the food was barely warm (temperature-wise) and none of what I chose was spicy hot. It was flavorful, but mild. I did enjoy the naan, however. By the time we left, the place was full, so I guess a lot of people enjoy it, but I was just hoping I wouldn't get ill from lukewarm food.

Second visit in a year. Fantastic!! Get the Mixed grill, its a little of everything! Fast service, food on point. Chicken melts in your mouth. Incredible flavors. Tables safely distanced, sanitizer on every table. Win win!!

Their lamb was cooked so tender and shrimp mango curry so flavorful- the waiter was always around, refilling drinks and very polite and courteous.

Probably the nicest curry I've had outside of the UK. Poppadoms not the greatest, and I think there were a few bits of wood in the mixed pickle, the Tajmahal bottled Indian lager was a bit flat and tasteless. Anyway the chicken vindaloo, asked for extra hot, pilau rice and keema naan were all excellent, and thoroughly recommended. I would certainly visit again. Previous reviews have mentioned it is rather smokey, it is, as there doesn't appear to be a separate kitchen with extractor fan - but the food is good. I would suggest having a Kingfisher beer next time.

Delicious grilled kabobs - tastes authentic and home cooked - perfectly spiced and great flat bread and variety of amazing sauces. Located near Pikes Place Market.

While visiting from Portland, Oregon, two family members and I found this restaurant by the wonderful aromas wafting through its door. We were in Seattle for three dinners, and we had two of them here. The high quality of the ingredients was obvious, the range of dishes was exciting, and the food was simply wonderful! We started both dinners with momos, which came with a tomato+sesame+spices sauce. We also enjoyed the paneer palak (my vegetarian dish), mango curry with lamb, daal curry, murg bahar, palak with lamb, mango curry with chicken, and garlic naan. Each dish was delightful! My only regret is that I as a visitor for a short stay, I was not able to try every item on the menu.

This place is really a wonderful Indian and Nepalese restaurant. Try the lamb in mango sauce and the palak paneer. The drinks are really really strong -- especially the Kastoori Martini (wow, what was in that?) You only need 1, believe me.

Food was great. Service was friendly, the bill took some time to arrive but no big deal. We had the Veggie Pakoras, Samosas, Aloo Gobi and Chana Masala - all amazing. Rustic feel adds to the atmosphere, enjoy!

The Kastoori Grille is right by Pile Market and its delightful aromas of curry, cardamom, fennel can be appreciated as you walk by. The lunch buffet is $9.99 per person and is phenomenal with both meat and vegetarian options, with soups and desserts. Delightful staff greet you with smiles. You will not be disappointed.

Family was headed to Pike Place market and we ducked in here for lunch. A good looking buffet was available, but I really wanted to try momos. We ordered plates of chicken momos, two kinds of soup, naan bread, and palak paneer. Everything was absolutely delicious, and we all agreed about it, even two newbies to this kind of cuisine. Affordable prices, friendly service, and comfortable atmosphere round out the experience. Recommended!

Kastoori is a small restaurant near Pike’s Place Market that we tried on a whim for Indian food, a favorite of ours. Walking in the smell was inviting. All entrees and vegetables were delicious and the naan bread perfect. Service was excellent. All diners were well pleased with the lunch and we will return.

Great food in this family run Indian spot near Pike Place Market. The food was great. I had the Lamb Takka Marsala. The girls had vegetarian dishes. Service was excellent. This is one of these places were the young daughter seats you, a couple of the sons wait on you and the dad and probably an uncle are in the kitchen cooking. Not a chain. We enjoyed it.

A good lunch near Pikes Place. This Indian restaurant has a buffet, however I chose to order off the menu. I had the lamb vindaloo, basmati rice and garlic naan. Both the service and food were very good.

Not the commercialized Indian. Has regions of Himalaya and Tibet. There is a buffet and you can also order off the menu but have to ask. Very reasonably priced, good service although they forgot to bring my soup. So you need to follow up and be specific. Nam is fresh made per customer. Seafood, meat and vegetarian.

I was quite happy with my meal at this pleasant Indian/Nepali restaurant. The food was rather tasty, the service was good and the atmosphere was relatively nice. The prices were not unreasonable considering the quality of the experience. We were in town on business and needed a place for dinner. My colleague and I are both fans of Indian cuisine so we searched TripAdvisor for this type of fare. This place popped up and looked intriguing so we decided to give it a go. We walked to this place from our hotel (about 3/4 mile). We found it easily as the location by Pike's Market meant we had a good point of reference. The physical structure was interesting as it was built into a hill. We spotted the maroon awning with the name of the restaurant. We were early in the dinner hour such that we had the place to ourselves. Our server attended to us right away and provided good service throughout our visit. The menu had a lot of favorites but also a few creative options. We both started with Mulligatawny Soup, which was very good. For our mains, we decided to get two entrees and split them. My colleague chose the Tandoori Prawns while I had one of the house specialties, the Kastoori Chicken. This was chicken in a creamy saffron and kastoori sauce. According to their description, kastoori is a spice found in the Himalayas and imparts a somewhat unique flavor to the curry concoction. We were favorably impressed with both dishes and were in agreement that the curry was particularly good. We had garlic naan to accompany our meal, which was also done nicely. The prices were OK given the quality of the experience and the location of this place. Our mains were $14.95 and $22.95, respectively. After drinks (which included one glass of wine), tax and tip, our total was $87, or $43.50 each. This was not cheap but not out of line. In the end, we enjoyed our meal which goes a long way in justifying the cost. Overall, this was a good Indian/Nepali restaurant in a nice location around Pike's Market. The food was tasty, particularly the curry. The service was good and the atmosphere was nice enough. The prices were not inexpensive but the value was not bad considering the quality of the overall experience. If you like Indian and are in the Pike's Market area, this is a reasonably good choice.

We love good Indian food but it was fun to have it w/ a little twist. It was Friday night so it was quite crowded. We had the steamed momos which were delicious, Mango curry, tikka masala which had a yummy butter sauce (like butter chicken), and an Nepalese dish I can't recall the name of. All delicious although the Indian food was more flavorful than the Nepalese dish. The 2nd batch of Naan came out when we were almost done but otherwise, the service was good. The servers were very busy since most of the tables were taken. My only complaint is that they need better ventilation. I felt like I reeked when I got out of the restaurant. It'll take a while to air out my clothes.

You need to ignore the inside as it is very warm and there is a lot of smoke from the cooking area but the food is very good. The service is the usual low standard we have come to expect from American restaurants with the bill arriving before we have even finished eating and the dirty plates not being cleared away. If it wasn’t for the environment and the service I would have given it 5 stars.

I love to cook and eat Indian food and go out of town for my Indian food "fix". this place hit the spot. Pros- Located near Pikes place, great price, good service, large selection of buffet. From mild to spicy, with fresh naan, you can find a wide range of tastes and well balanced dishes here. I tried every single one and liked or loved them all. Mango soft serve ice cream for dessert is something I will dream of after any spicy meal. Cons- The pakora had been sitting out to long, but we came in the last hour of the lunch buffet so I cannot fault them too much for this. The interior could use some reworking as the food is better quality than the atmosphere. The booths and seating arrangement make it feel more like a Ponderosa steak house buffet, but with a little renos they could make this a classy restaurant and less like a diner.

Well o think this Indian restaurant is fantastic. Nice people and the food is nice and spicy. Hopefully you can give this place a go. Had a couple of pints at the puke market first and now here.

I really enjoyed this buffet. I was in Seattle for two days and walked by a sign that had lunch buffet for $9.99. It's a street away from the Pike Place Market and was an Indian buffet. I went in at 11am since I was leaving at 1pm. There were 2 people in there and then a bunch of friends came in. The food was delicious to me. I'm not a picky guy. Naan, curry, vegetables, chicken, delicious potatoes. It really hit the spot and the value was great. The waiters were nice refilling the water. After eating the food, I went for the mango ice cream, which was surprisingly great as well. I felt the need to write a great review for this place than just forgetting about it. People tend to write bad reviews for places they don't like, but this one I recommend. I went back for a second mango ice cream. I don't remember much, but the food just hit the spot.

Good quality indian food. I must say I've had much better Naan bread elsewhere, but may be personal taste. Nice that you can select your spice level in the different entrées.

A little disaponted. The food was okay, but the service not friendly at all. No recommendation. I dont understand the other ratings!

Delicious. The servings are pretty big ... the mango lassi is good. Naan (garlic) is tasty. The staff are friendly - they recommended the buffet, and if we had had more time in Seattle, we would have taken them up on it.

I really like indian food but going to this place was not that great choice from our side. Food was okay nothing spectacular, service was also ok and the ambience was not that great. I think little bit of cleanliness was also required.

Menu with wide variety of options. Helpful server to answer any questions. Food was prepared so well I wanted to keep eating. The garlic naan went with everything we ordered. The Curried Mussels were excellent, should have taken a photo before diving in. Great prices for fresh, nutritious food prepared so well. Must come back for more menu options.

We stopped by here, down an alley just a few steps from the market, for lunch. It is very unassuming from the front and the decor is a little worn, but the meal was tasty and filling. We chose the lunch buffet, as we wanted a little taste of everything and the price was reasonable ($11). The Tandoori chicken was my favorite and the mango ice cream for dessert was the perfect finish.

The first time I went here I was in love... but I don't want a third date... :( 2nd time was pretty bad, watery and just not as good as the first time.. sorry Kastoori!

I went here with friends on a busy midday afternoon. We got the last table in the place and all chose the buffet. The food was good, though not mind blowing -- except the naan. The naan was exceptional. The prices are low; this is a good place to eat nice food on a budget.

Manchurian Gobi followed by chicken nehari and garlic naan. Service is a little slow and inattentive at times but food qualms quantity is very good. I had my Nehari medium hot and it was pretty potent. Good pieces of chicken and a pungent, good consistency sauce, not overly liquid based and not thick and rich. The garlic naan was light with an element of softness and crispness all with a garlic based ghee butter on top. Even though I asked for no nice (substitute for the naan at no extra cost which the waiter did push back on initially but was then customer friendly and did) I did get some but did not need. Atmosphere wise it has more of an ambiance of somewhere in the sun continent so not the American sparkly, snazzy joints but it works and is different to most places in this area of town. Would definitely return.

This was an unexpected find! Another location was full so we stumbled right to this restaurant! Staff were friendly place was old architecture which was interesting. Momo was great and make sure to try sauces. Indian and Nepali food. The way the goat on the bone was served was great. The dish/container used very neat with a little candle to keep it warm. Lot of dinning options and very quick service. I loved how the table was set. The silverware and napkin placement. Too full for dessert. Glad we tried this restaurant and exotic food. Thank you!

The food is great but admittedly not a location that was fancy but we were there for the food.. It's not far from Pike's market on Stewart. Would I go back, yes

Although my experience at the Kastorri Grill, located near the Pike Street Market in Seattle, was limited to one lunch, I have to say it was definitely worth it. I had the lunch buffet a d with the buffet came freshly made naan. The buffet had a wide variety of items including chicken masala, tandoori chicken, fish stew, a curry dish, and several other vegetable choices and desert too. Great all you can eat buffet that is fairly priced.

While randomly walking the streets looking for a place to eat, i wandered into this place. No, it's not fancy, romantic or up-scale. Yes, it's closer to a cafeteria atmosphere. However, i was looking for some great food and this place delivered. I had the lunch buffet which had an excellent selection of interesting foods. The flavors were all amazing and spicy. They had a great hot sauce to heat everything up even more. I don't understand some of the critical reviews. I paid $10 for the lunch buffet and the rest of the menu was reasonably priced. These are excellent, inexpensive eats and you're not paying for somebody to lay a linen napkin on your lap and dote over you. It reminded me very much of stopping in a restaurant in an Asian country. I was just a visitor to Seattle, and I regret very much that i won't be back to Kastoori any time soon!

We had lunch at this restaurant near Pike Place. We chose the buffet and were satisfied. There are quite a few choices, some vegetarian, some with meat, some starters and some desserts. We did like the taste of the food, some of it could have been a little hotter, it was only warm and turned quickly colder on the cold plates. Or perhaps preheated plates could solve this problem.

Came in, sat down. Checked out the menu which looked good. Popped into the toilet before ordering and YUCK The most discussing toilet I have seen. Left - not eating at a place that keeps the toilet like that.

I had the buffet for lunch and was happy with the selection provided. The food was very tasty. Only complaint is the lack of ac made it very uncomfortable to eat.

We fancied a Curry whilst in Seattle and saw good reviews on TA for Kastoori Grill. We weren’t disappointed. A slightly tatty place but clean and the food was excellent

The food here is amazing! We had the samosas, butter chicken and garlic naan and they were really nice with loads of flavour. Ignore the decor and trust the amazing smell that comes from the kitchen and you won’t regret it!

We stopped in for a quick dinner because there was no line up and the yummy smell enticed us! We will go back the next time we are in Seattle after tasting the food! Authentic, fresh, and good service!

Perfectly good food, but not blown away by any means. Small portion. Naan bread was very greasy. Cutlery was dirty and placed directly on the table without any table cloth or napkin. Service was perfectly average, but nothing special.

Went to the pike market late and were starving. Noticed good yelp reviews walking back to our hotel, and great smells. Had a great meal. Affordable and tasty too --with lovely presentation!

The steamed chicken momos at this place are indeed the best in the city !!! I love to visit here more and more ...!! The ambience is quite simple here without much show off.

Servers seemed disinterested, or over-worked. May be both. I found the food to be just about ok. On the positive side, Naans were soft and well baked and mango icecream was delicious. However, the other items kind of pulled the whole experience down

I loved Kastoori Grill. Food was great, prices were reasonable and service was excellent too. What more could you ask for? Well, some air conditioning would have helped, but it’s still worth eating there even if you are roasting. Just go! You won’t regret it.

We are a regular at this restaurant, since the last 6 months and this restaurant has always offered us amazing food and great service. The staff is friendly and prompt and the food gets as close as served in any restaurant in India. The spice level is perfect for our taste. My partner and I,both prefer spices on the milder side. The interiors are a bit outdated and can be worked on and that is why the four stars. Bang on in terms of location, food and service. Highly recommend for Indian food lovers!!

We've done takeout from here over the years and its our go-to for Indian (not many options for Indian in the downtown area!). Can't speak for the meat dishes but we've tried nearly all the vegetarian dishes and they're pretty damn awesome (their tikka masala's are great). Also, you can't go wrong with their naan. And you're especially in luck if you like it spicy - ask for "extra hot" and see what I mean :)

We walked past the Kastoori Grill this morning and the aromas wafting out the door were very tempting. However, we weren't ready for lunch so we went on with our plans. At lunch time, when we were looking for somewhere to eat, nothing caught our eye. We weren't anywhere near the Kastoori Grill, but it was still calling us. Not being from Seattle, we weren't exactly sure where we had seen it, but we found it without too much difficulty. We were not disappointed with our decision. The buffet had a nice variety & everything was very tasty.

Wonderful mango chicken curry. Thank you so much. Would definitely return many times. Great attentive service.

We were on our way to another venue when we passed by and smelt a delicious aroma, so decided to give it a go. Whilst the decor is not fancy, the quality of the food is excellent. We had chicken pokora for starter which was excellent. The mains were chicken tikka masala, chicken korma and chilli paneer. The 2 chicken dishes were delicious, both with wonderful sauces and a tasty naan bread. It's definitely worth a trip for good quality food at a reasonable price, unless you are a decor snob.

Stumbled across this place while staying in Seattle. Really tasty Nepalese food the Naan bread is amazing the mixed grill and butter chicken was incredibly tasty. It's not fancy and the service is a little bit slow but the flavor of the food is amazing. Would highly recommend if you like Nepalese/Indian food

We decided to try this place because other reviews said the food was good. They were right. The food was delicious and the service was very good. We did not have to wait for anything. They were attentive and helped us with the menu. I would set time to go here again.

on a visit in Seattle, after roaming the Pike Market and feeling hungry saw this restaurant at a stones throw. The place was comfortably empty. It was 1 pm and we were told that we had avoided the lunch hour rush which is normally between 11 to 1. Being vegetarians we asked if there were ample veg dishes in the buffet. There was. Soup, salads, pakoras, 3 subji's, dal, rice, desserts - it was tasty and like home cooked food. The Nan served piping hot at our table was very good. As with most buffets we over-ate. Back home for a nice siesta.

I ordered chicken rogan josh, with basmati rice and garlic naan. It was bland. Staff were nice but slow. Most likley will not return to this restaurant.

This was not our first visit here, and it won't be our last. We were hungry, having flown in on an early morning flight. There were no other patrons, but we weren't concerned as it was early. By the time we left there were quite a few other tables full. We ordered garlic naan and mango chicken curry to share. The curry was so tasty, but even better when we dipped the garlic naan into the sauce. Since we were staying at a hotel we didn't want leftovers, and the amount of food we ordered filled both of us up perfectly. Our server was attentive, and kept our water glasses filled.

We stumbled across the Kastoori Grill one evening on the way back from Pike Place Market, and stopped in. The food was delicious, authentic and served quickly and piping hot ... not to mention much more reasonably priced than other places.

We ate here on our first night in Seattle. To be honest we were bit spaced out with flights and time differences so couldn't be bothered looking around so just popped in here. The service was a bit weird in as much as they didn't seem to have much of a clue in respect of beer or wine. And when they they did eventually grasp that we were only after a standard bottle of red and a bottle of beer they took an age to serve it. On the plus and most important side the food was delicious. We also found the restaurant very expensive in relation to UK prices but again being our first night we can't really compare against other restaurants and could it be more down to the exchange rate or just standard prices for Seattle.

We stopped here for supper... the best Indian restaurant I have ever eat at... Would recommend this restaurant to anybody..and the service was excellent... I would go back if I was in the area again!

We went their for momo and chowmein. The ambience was ok not great but not bad either. The momos were authentic and I would love to go again for momos. The noodles was just ok

Looks more like a dinner but the food was very good. Walked across the street and had curry and samosas... It was not full but they seem to have a great take out buisness.

This was a very good Indian restaurant serving an excellent lunch buffet. The selection was good and the service attentive.

Decent options on the buffet, decent taste for all of it, and decent price all-in-all. Nothing fancy or special particularly, but nothing bad at all.

We came to this place after scouring the streets for food. Smelled amazing and the flavors were great. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes Indian. Potato nann was really tasty

After a poor Indian food experience at Shanik few blocks away, I enjoyed the food from Kastoori. I chose not to dine in (place does look dingy and smoky) and had a take-away done. The flavours and taste a much better than Shanik or other places I ate in Seattle. The Chicken TIkka Masala and Kastoori Chicken were flavoursome and not excessively sweet as most Indian curries are made out to be. The Naan was very soft and tasty. It is not the best place to dine in but certainly food-wise makes up for it. Enjoyed the meal.

Fantastic menu covering the range of foods of the region. Appetizers portions are large. Sample. Enjoy!

Never been here. Reminded us of Kathmandu, Nepal. Lighting, finish, etc. Thought it was a risk. However, staff & food is great. Enjoy.

My husband and I have been to this restaurant atleast a 30-35 times in the last year and half! - That's how much we love the food here. By food, we mean - the garlic naan and the shahi paneer / paneer tikka masala! We never try anything new because we crave for particularly those two dishes and it never gets old. Not much of an ambience with very minimally done interiors and very close to the Pike place market and the waterfront :-) Reasonably priced for a restaurant in the city center. Absolutely love their garlic naan and their staff( who we are friends with since we visit so often! ).

Wide range of food for just 10 bucks! We got there at noon and the place was full, but it only took about 15 minutes to get a table for 6. Kind staff and terrific food. Try the sugared dough balls for dessert!

Very bad experience with a food, being a Nepali I searched and landed up in this resturant after 3 hrs of driving. Foods that we ordered khasi ko masu, aalu cauli, rice, haku choila and garlic naan were so bad, completely not into the neaplese taste buds. Very disappointed with food. Momo was 2 out of 5 rest I will not even scale them. On bright side server was very good.

The unbelievable drifting aroma of the Kastoori Grill will attract your attention as soon as you walk onto the block on which is located (between Stewart Street & 1st Avenue), essentially across the street from the Thompson Hotel, in the direction of the Public Market. This modest restaurant leaves the front doors open on cool, rainy days, making the ambience of the setting rather romantic & cozy. The setting includes both tables @ booths, & the place does a “land-rush” business. Observing what appears to be the evident customers’ memorized menu selections (only a few menus being examined), & the cordial atmosphere between servers & guests, the Kastoori is a popular & well-recognized outstanding place to eat, especially if you love the distinctive flavors & textures of authentic Indian food. It’s always a good sign of quality when you see the locals crowding a restaurant. The menu is simple & straight-forward, not overstuffed with so-called “fusion” dishes. My favorite entree was the black lentils seasoned with garlic, cumin, ginger, & garnished with cilantro: the mixture of flavors will “blow your taste buds away!” Served with basmati rice & exquisite Naan bread make for a crowning dining experience that will bring you back for more sampling of the other dishes. Finally, the restaurant staff appear to have familial connections with each other, suggesting a sense of a proprietary investment in the quality & success of the site. The staff are very attentive to customer service, displaying an obvious type of humility & modesty in the performance of their tasks. Highly recommend that you try this restaurant if you visit Seattle & want to blend in with the locals of the community in their enjoyment of bang-on quality food!

Went here for lunch, and found a typical selection of Indian staples on the buffet. Don't know if the AC was broken, or if they just don't have it, but it was extremely hot inside - like eating inside an oven, despite the fairly cool afternoon (in the 60s) outside. The buffet itself was tasty and a decent value for the money but the serving spoon for the vat of rice was being kept in a bucket of ice. The food was good, and may hit the spot if you're just really in the mood for Indian.

Tasty veg lunch buffet includes rice, dal, roti, two veg curries, soups, papad, salad, two sweet, pakoda. Cost 12$. Good for Sunday lunch

After having had Nepalese food in Darjeeling, India nearly a year ago, I wanted to try this place based on its good reviews on Yelp. The menu was a mix of Indian & Nepalese food and we opted to order two Nepalese dishes, along with the garlic naan. They advertise a lunch buffet, but we were there for dinner. The chicken dish (I can't recall the name) was nicely seasoned and the level of spice heat was just as we requested. The momos were very good. The garlic naan was not impressive. I have had naan at many restaurants and this one was thicker than usual and had chopped garlic with no butter. It held very little flavor and wasn't brought out until we were more than half way through the meal. The mango lassi was good. The restaurant appears to be family run and pretty authentic.

i experienced poor service at this restaurant. I did not find it very clean and the servers did not show a lot of interest in making me feel welcome. The food was average for the price, but nothing makes me feel go back there.

We were visiting the area for a family wedding. Found this place and just walking by it smelled wonderful. The staff was very nice and helpful and the food was so good! Worth a try when in the Pikes Street Market area.

Good buffet selection. They were really busy, but it's the lunch hour in downtown Seattle. I would go back again next time I'm there!

We passed this little restaurant while walking from the pier to our hotel. We couldn't resist the fabulous smell of spices! We went for dinner. The place is small but the service was friendly and the food was awesome!! I will recommend this place to friends and can't wait to get back there!

Came for the $10 lunchtime buffet and was very surprised. The food was delicious and there is quite a lot of meat and vegetarian dishes to choose from. Servers were friendly and helpful. Excellent value and I'll definitely be back.

Just next to the Pike Market, the Kastoori Grill offers a lunch buffet for 10 USD. This is very good, not too spicy, and the service is good. Perfect for a real lunch in a very expensive and touristic area.

The lunch buffet was very good with meat and vegetarian options..Check it out if you go to Pikes place market. The dhal was very good. Egg plant dish was delicious. They seated me quickly.

Great Indian food buffet at lunchtime. Great korma, veggie dishes, and mango ice cream. Good service.

Mediocre food with very little Indian spice flavor. Poorly presented with what appears to reason to have concerns about food and health safety. But the staff and customer service is what is truly awful. Lack luster interest of staff at all levels, from the greeter to the bus woman. They didn't bring our Naan or my drink until after we finished the meal, and not until wed asked three times and then actually stood in the kitchen to get their attention. And there was only one other occupied table in the restaurant while we were there. Each time we went looking for our waiter, he was in the kitchen just hanging out talking with the chef. Whatever you do, don't get the buffet . . . Save your money. Eat anywhere else first.
Hidden gem
While walking Seattle I found this gem. I could smell the amazing food from outside. The staff was nice and friendly. They have a buffet style dining as well as menu options. I had the buffet and it was so yummy. The place was busy for lunch and even busier with takeout orders. I enjoyed the atmosphere and I would come back any time I'm in Seattle!
