Fun outdoor spot with friends

By Sivan M |

They have plenty of parking and even a valet at the restaurant. Food is okay but the drinks are great. It was more of an outdoor sports bar with tons of seating available for any size party. This is a fun spot for a Friday afternoon with friends. Don’t forget to also bring your dogs!

BBQ!

By Gail V |

During a weekend visit to Dallas (from MN), we stopped here during a rainstorm. Love this outdoor venue on a Sunday afternoon. Charming patio with warm fire on a chilly day. The beer options were amazing; tried several of the bbq options; and enjoyed the server. Very unique spot located along the Katy trail.

A good weekend hang....more so if your young

By CliveWatkins |

This is a cool hang. Bring your dog....you wont be alone...and be prepared to wait in a line if its too busy for you to get in. The service was great, they have a good system that keeps you from waiting long for a drink. But a fun hang, young hang, and its lively with sports and music. I can see why its this popular. Ill be back....during the week... with the dog.

Katy Trail Gem

By Deb Streit |

Cool spot to chill. They have an awesome patio area which is especially nice at night with lots of tree lighting. Good service, good food, good place to enjoy watching the games, convenient central location. If you are hiking or biking on the Katy Trail it is a great point to take a breather and grab a refreshing beverage! They Sangria is lovely!

Beautiful Day for Outdoor Dining in Dallas

By k4mconsulting |

One of our go-to places. Beautiful afternoon for an al fresco lunch! Our waitress was super friendly and attentive even though she was super busy. Good cocktails, cold beer, and tortilla chips with guacamole, salsa, and quest. Very nice start. I highly recommend a bowl of the venison chili! The quesadilla is also very good. Enjoy an outside dining experience in uptown!

Good, fun, but....

By Licia D |

I researched where to eat after a half-marathon at Fair Park. Katy Trail Ice House was only 12 minutes away and had an appealing menu. We arrived at 10:00 on Sunday morning and announced we were all first-timers at the restaurant. We were told they were known for their barbeque on the weekends. Food was good but a little pricey. An order of onion rings cost $4.00 and had three large rings. Waitress didn't offer refills on any drinks even though there were few other patrons to distract her. It was good for one time, but not a return visit.

Awesome to visit in summer

By Andrew_Swiss |

I visited the Katy Trail Ice House beergarden in April and a few times in September. It was very crowded and you had to line up in front of the entrance. But it was totally worth it. Of course it was very crowded but soon we found a place to sit down and we got served very soon. It was about two hours before a game of the Dallas Stars in the AA Center. There were a lot of fans and the atmosphere was great. The staff served very good, there weren't long waiting times at all. I would love to come back any time, it's an awesome place! Oh and the selection of local craft beers is great!

Amazing

By krissybeckert |

Great outdoor dinning after.... plenty of seats but it does get really busy.. some tvs to watch the games..

Fun sports venue with great food and drink!

By Valleyblue |

What a fun spot. Great venue, great food, great service... do you see a theme here? We were there with a large group for a special event and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. The food and drinks were really good, despite how busy it was, the service was fast and more attentive than you could imagine. Highly recommended!

Big Beer Garden...Big Atmosphere

By TutinsPony |

We went mid-afternoon on a Friday and still had to wait 40 minutes to get in.....so it is VERY popular. It is right next to the Katy Trail, so lots of people watching and the atmosphere is fun with music and plenty of people. The weather was great for sitting outside as well. We had drinks, the Margueritas ar large, and snacks.

Great outdoor seating no matter how hot it gets

By Gayle and Dave C |

My family and I love going here. We love to eat outside and this is one of the best places to do that. Plus you can bring your dog. Great beer menu. We are all vegetarians and there is a lot on the menu for us. The ALT Avocado, Lettuce and tomato is fantastic. Best fries I had since leaving New York

Great atmosphere

By David A |

Love this place. Ice cold beer. Great food. The brisket is excellent. We go here every time we are in Dallas. Great atmosphere and fun to people watch.

Just chillout

By Dennis P |

Great place to chill out, have a drink and catch the game. Super busy on the weekends though so, watch out

Disorganized, show service

By Mohsman |

My family of six adults had lunch here on the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. The food was decent but the service was very disappointing. Tip: Do NOT order food from the barbecue pit and the kitchen (burgers, salads, sandwiches, etc.) My son and I ordered two BBQ platters. They came quickly. We then waited about 20 minutes (I'm not kidding) for the kitchen-cooked lunches to arrive. My son and I finally started eating and were pretty much finished before the others' food arrived. The excuse given is that the BBQ pit food runs out, and if the restaurant waits until the kitchen food comes out to serve up the BBQ food, the BBQ items ordered may have run out. Then, anything substitute ordered from the kitchen would take another 20 minutes. So, do NOT have your party order food from the BBQ menu and regular menu unless you want it to come at vastly different times. Otherwise, the food was good and it is right by the Katy Trail, so you can walk off a bit of your lunch.

Classic Dallas Bar

By Marisa T |

Katy Trail backs up to the running path and has a very large outdoor area with many tables. It is a fun bar for groups, nothing fancy, just beer, mixed drinks and bar food. Great atmosphere.

Discrimination against cats.

By Amanda L |

Having lived here for 3 years. We know of this lovely, pet friendly place off the trail with a massive patio, food, beer and tv. The patio space is nice and sporadically shaded. We frequent tequila social and various Harwood establishments so it was intended to be a little change up for the day. Food is decent— brisket tacos and loaded fries. Beer arrives in a schooner, held by a talented drink runner carrying multiple in one hand (impressive to say the least). I just wish they served a half order of the fries but it’s tolerable. Plenty TVs for multiple sport events. Pet friendly—NO, ONLY DOGS. HERE IS WHERE THE PROBLEM LIES… Upon arrival we were not approached. There was no one at the entrance. Note: Our two cats were in a stroller; sleepy and unbothered, welcomed by our two servers Mallorie and Jordan. Both wonderful btw. After enjoying the patio weather for approximately 2 hrs…food and drinks ordered, we closed our tab and headed toward the exit….only to be approached by an unknown employee—busser, maintenance or back of house person, randomly at the front entrance. He rudely whispered, “ cats are unwelcome here. We don’t allow cats. You snuck in and we didn’t say anything but we don’t allow cats.” Alright…not a single employee…mind you, we spoke to 5 different employees said a single thing about this cat outlaw. Neither the website or the signs posted along the gates mention cats. And he also insinuated that we intentionally broke rules…. As a professional that had to be the most offensive assumption. Not only do we spend a decent amount of money when we venture out but we do not do so with ill intent. And apparently he some how noticed yet didn’t say anything until AFTER we paid our check. How convenient that we weren’t approached before. I have nothing to say other than WE HAVE BEEN HERE WITH OUR CAT BEFORE….and in fact met another couple with their MaineCoon CAT sitting I at an adjacent table….neither of us approached by said anti-cat rules. We will not be back and neither will my associates or perspective sponsors/clients. Or maybe we will…just to test this undeclared pet discrimination! Bc honestly compared to the behavior of some of the wild human children and noisy dog children in attendance…our cats were incomparable. I’ll be waiting for a response.

A New Favorite

By GoGatorsWayne |

We love this restaurant. Why didn't we eat here sooner? Service is fast, friendly and attentive. They clean your table quietly and more quickly than anywhere I have ever been. The hot dogs are superb.

Great Drinks and Good BBQ

By msmacher |

Nice inside but great courtyard. Service was great. The food was excellent and the drinks were large and cold. This is a laid back sit at a picnic table and enjoy the day type of place. Liked the coleslaw and the brisket was good. Good place to go with friends and family and enjoy the day. It was really crowded because the Cowboys were losing their first game of the season, but still we got a table within a few minutes. This is located next to the Katy Trail but of the rail trail systems in the US. Worth the stop if your in Dallas.

Fabulous place on Katy Trail

By Kalliroe K |

Great bar scene along with Great food. Drinks are great. Try the schooner margaritas. You can't go wrong with any of the food selections. Just keep in mind you may have to wait in line.

Just a great place

By cousinD |

This place has become a normal stop for when I'm out running. There's always a lot of people here and is a great spot for people watching. It's dog friendly with a BIG selection of beer on tap. The chips and queso is a must have. When the temperature is high expect a full house. It's kinda tucked away but once you find it you won't regret it.

Great Spot on the Katy Trail

By FriscoResident1997 |

Went on a Saturday early afternoon. The brisket and turkey from the BBQ were outstanding, the sausage tasted fine, but did not look so cooked. The hamburger and fries are unmatched in Dallas. And that is saying a lot! While I like Gloria's margaritas better, the Ice House one was still very good. The service was outstanding and the patio was still very manageable even in high 90's heat with all the fans and misters. They even provide water for runners and bikers on the Katy Trail.

Locals and Beer

By kcouture |

So this place gets crowded, really crowded, especially on a football night. Parking was pretty easy using the valet. It is pretty hard to get beer service as the waitresses are run ragged. I liked the atmosphere though and it would be fun if I wasn't driving.

Best people watching in Dallas

By Christine S |

The beer is ice cold, the BBQ delicious...only served Thursday through Sunday until it's gone...and the vibe relaxed and comfortable. The large outdoor patio and shared table culture means you can almost always find a seat.

Great casual hangout

By Trip4AWeekend |

You can bring your dog to this expansive outdoor hang out. It is fun, casual, music plaing, good food. Prices are reasonable. They have misters in fans to keep the heat to a minimum. My only complaint is you are forced to valet your car, which I normally don't do. The valet is free but tips are expected of course. I would hang out here again if I want to have a couple of drinks with some friends, but don't expect them to come fast. The service was very slow and not because they were busy.

Fun eats & drinks on the Katy Trail

By ScottEP |

Sprawling outdoor seating right off the Katy trail. Go for beer, BarBQ, burgers, salads & sides. Outdoor patio seating with music, TV's showing sports, and lots of dogs in attendance. Food was good, service could be a little spotty. Drinks are huge! Limited vegetarian options.

Hmmmm

By metntex |

Not sure how to rate this place. The food is good and the beer very cold, but the service is lacking and they allow smoking which really ruined a good time as the guy next to us was puffing away on a cigar. Would we come back. Yeah, probably.

Really worth the trip!

By btfm7s |

My sister hosted a dinner there Friday night for 60 people. She had reserved the patio area which looked beautiful and all light lite up. Unfortunately, it poured that night and we were moved indoors. The food, drinks and service was great. Cute atmosphere! The BBQ buffet was quite good, but the fries were crazy delicious! Everyone had a very good time and the bill was quite reasonable.

Great location...bring plenty of cash....

By RandyGreen |

Walked over here from my brother's condo on Turtle Creek. Growing up in Dallas, I had never walked on the Katy Trail....this place was really cool....it has the indoor space and bar if you like, but the expansive outdoor patio (what we called a beer garden back in the day) was great with the lights in the trees, plenty of tables and just hanging out in the outdoors in a lovely setting....you would think with the bare-bones layout, prices would be better, but you can't go wrong with this place.....definitely a good local place for after-work, vacation hanging out....

Birds!

By GeneseoSupremo |

What a great place! A fantastic outdoor beer garden with heaters (and fans for the summer), great service, big beer selection and good food. Just a great atmosphere and a really cool spot to gather. Now..... it is an open beer garden with trees, and trees bring birds. And let’s just say many of us left with “white splatter” on our clothes from the birds. Go and have fun, just watch out above for the birds.

Real Texas experience... tons of fun

By SparkHuerta |

When I saw the place by passing by it seemed to be so relaxed and friendly that I decided wanted to be there! Next evening I was indeed enjoying the families, friends, pets, food, beer and the ambience! All amazing. Food was a top notch and the brewed beers just a perfect match. Must come when being in Dallas.

Quite an experience!

By cunningtim |

We went on a College Football Saturday afternoon and the place was packed! It was wonderful! Surprisingly great service for as busy as they were. Food, service, and ambiance were excellent!

Great Indoor/ Outdoor Eating

By wwfrench |

Love this restaurant / bar right on the Katy Trail!! Huge space with plenty of room for everyone!! Great place to watch a game too! Very casual and fun! Dog friendly 😊 I had the burger which was large and very good! Huge variety of beers on tap!! Lots of seating on a huge patio and plenty inside! Service was excellent 😊

Extremely Disappointed

By Jamie H |

I had a very unexpected, unpleasant first experience at Katy Trail Ice House. I was meeting my husband there and had my 6 year old son with me. I had communicated with my husband about where he was sitting, so I assumed it was perfectly acceptable to walk through the front entrance and find my husband. I was stopped abruptly and rudely by a host and was asked what I was doing. I explained that my husband was already inside sitting down and that I was meeting him. He acted very put out and irritated that I didn’t know correct Katy Trail protocol. He then asked if I knew what table number he was at. I told him that I didn’t, but that my husband had explained where he was in the garden patio. He proceeded to tell me in a very unfriendly tone that it was a ‘really big place and I wouldn’t be able to find him’. I assured him that I was capable of locating someone in a restaurant. His mannerisms, tone of voice, and attitude were unkind, unpleasant, and unfair. He told me I had to either call my husband or go to the end of the line. I explained that I didn’t understand why I was being treated this way, and can I please go in with my son and be with my husband. He said, “I can make it to where you don’t go in at all.” He turned to a ‘bouncer’ type man and that man told me I wasn’t going in. I’m standing there with my son dumbfounded. I told them I would call my husband and get the table number, but it was too late. The ‘security bouncer’ person said that my husband needed to close out his ticket and leave with me. I’ve honestly never been treated like that at a restaurant before. Normally the front host or hostess is very accommodating, friendly, and explains the proper seating arrangements at the restaurant. If I had known that I needed to have the table number before I walked in, I would have certainly obliged to this request. I wish that they would have explained what I needed to do in a nonthreatening way. It was surreal. A smile goes a long way in the service industry. I will take my business to establishments that are warm and welcome to families. I wish I had known the ‘rules’ of Katy Trail Ice House before completely embarrassing myself. It was horrible.

Good food and service.

By Kaptx |

Great outdoor setting. Great variety of beers and Texas spirits. Had the hot dogs and fries and onion rings. All good, not great, but return. Good service though a little slow at times. Sat at the bar before my friends arrived. Very good bar service. Valet parking.

Great Start to the Perfect Trip!

By ToppopNorthCarolina |

This was the perfect spot! Great outdoor atmosphere right off of Katy Trail. Loved the lighted trees, the smell of oak post cooked brisket, and the delicious food! I highly recommend the brisket nachos!

Austin Style Beer Garden

By GetawayGalSays |

Awesome rotating beer selection. Consistent speedy service. Relaxing music variety and best of all, dogs! No need to go inside, they have blankets, heat lamps and fire pits in the winter and cooling misters and fans in the summer. My favorite everyday restaurant.

Beautiful patio and great BBQ

By brich1213 |

Visiting from NC for a wedding, and went here for some BBQ turkey and an ice cold beer on Sunday. The patio was just perfect-- large, not too crowded. We sat at a big picnic table, and the slightly spicy bbq sauce was great with the fresh turkey and bowl of beans. Large beer selection as well.

Worst Experience Ever!

By Dianna O |

This is the worst place in Uptown because they treat people like crap. They don't know the meaning of hospitality...the food is mediocre and over priced ...it seems as if the management is trying to destroy this business. I will do all I can to help. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY HERE. READ THE REVIEWS...ITS ALL THERE.

Let Down

By PhatPatW |

Saw this place and was excited to go but service was not there and it was way to loud inside. Outside you end up smelling like smoke due to the fires. I love the atmosphere here but it fell short. We were not even given a menu with BBQ on it! Only burgers so overall our experience was poor. The best part were the french fries.

What a great place!

By Tom M |

I didn't think I could have this much fun with a beer and a half! Great staff, great atmosphere, and a fun loving crowd. Outdoors is the best if the weather is nice. BBQ is very tasty as well! Highly recommended

fun, casual place

Super fun!

By Lauren Butterfield |

A great place to go to on a hot day and you’re looking for a cold beer. It’s right in the Katy Trail so you’ll see plenty of people running by. They have a lot if outdoor bench seating too. Good spot to watch some sporting events!

Great beer haven with wonderful fireplace for those chilling night!

By conniejohnson |

Our group gathered together to discuss 2020 events. We enjoy the atmosphere and the beer. It was a rainy night and the fireplace was very inviting, service was excellent. Great meeting place. Next to Katy Trail.

Very busy on a Friday night

By Steve H |

We stopped by the Katy Ice House during a hike along the Katy Trail (which is a very nice urban trail by the way). Thus, we entered via the back. It was packed, as a local high school reunion had taken up much of the space. The patio in back is HUGE, with lots of picnic tables. We walked through and didn't see anywhere to sit. Inside was equally as crowded, but one table happened to be open (you seat yourself). There is also a huge bar along the wall with lots of seats. Inside has a lot of big screen TVs for sports viewing, which was nice, but it was VERY noisy -- at times, the 3 of us could not hear across the table. They have an extensive tap beer list, and all the beers are served in large goblets. We weren't real hungry, so we split the nachos and tacos. I expected the normal large plate of chips covered with toppings. But instead, the nachos were 6 thick chips with meat on them and the toppings were lumped in the middle, so you piled on your own toppings. They were very good. Service was good, except a little slow during the bill and payment process. I would go back.

Nice place for a drink

By Tradervic21 |

Great place to have a beer or a drink with friends. Noisy and crowded but not in a bad way. Service is great and fast even with lots of people there. Food was really good too.

Open for take out

By Texas_Travel_1 |

If you are walking the Katy Trail during the "Social Distancing" period of April, please consider calling in 214-468-9699. With a credit card, you can purchase to go food and drinks. (my diet soda pop was about $3.72 (with tax and tip). Sandwiches $10-$13 . You can pick up the to go food on the north side (not the Katy Trail side) of the building.

Kudos to Katy Trail Ice House

By Bnizzle76 |

Absolutely delicious food and such a fun atmosphere! We were there on a 105* day, but thoroughly enjoyed our time- thank you for the cool misting machines, and lovely shade trees!

Great Outdoor Bar with Fun Atmosphere

By SCCam94 |

I meant to review this place last year. Was here before the USC vs Alabama game last September and had a really good time. The bar was crowded and there was actually a line early on a Saturday afternoon. It was crowded inside and out and we were lucky enough to find some space outside under one of the large trees. There were a group of servers who waited on us and service was good. We had meet some friends who lived in the area who had recommended this place and all the food we had was good as well. I would definitely come back here as we really enjoyed this bar.

Check your tab!

By Ellen C |

The price on the menu was not the price I was charged for the patty melt. Plus be sure to ask what the up charges are. My Cosmo ended up costing only $1.50 less than an amazing Cosmo at Del Friscos in Uptown. When I brought it up to server, she said she would mention to manager. As I walked out, I asked to speak to the manager. All he said was "ugh." No apology. A simple apology does wonders versus a "ugh." The food itself was okay. Much better places to go for the price.

Absolute must

By ashleyjoy24 |

This place is my go to every weekend whether I'm with locals or out of town visitors. The atmosphere is one of a kind and so is the food and drinks. Always such a good time there. Plus, as its name suggests, it right off Katy trail so it's a great stop after a workout or just to people watch. Very dog friendly. The trouble maker drink or margartia with a sangria are our favorites!

Fun Casual Friday Night

By Lynn_Lyon |

It's 55 degrees out but you can hang outside with your friends, family - even your dog. They have heat lamps on almost every table & guest blankets people used for their dogs. Big screen TVs, the Mavericks win on the big screen TVs outside and draft beer. They have complimentary valet parking too. The perfect place to enjoy the casual side of Dallas.

WORST SERVICE IMAGINABLE

By Samantha S |

Our waitress was AWFUL! She basically ignored our table the entire time we were there. When one of my friends asked for a straw she pointed towards the bar and said "you can get one over there I think". She automatically included a 20% tip to the tab which I then had her remove because she didn't deserve one. Never do I not leave a tip, but I would've had better service if I went and did it myself.

Great burgers

By mitchand |

We were in town for a wedding. Met up with about 15 people here for dinner the first night. Had a great time. Wait staff was friendly and awesome, burgers were great beer was cold.

Cool vibe and relaxing

By Sassy0062 |

What a great place to just hang out, have a drink and eat and people watch. This is a stop point along the Katy Trail or you can drive there. Great beer selection but I highly recommend the sangria. We shared the fried jalapenos for apps and I had the chicken salad salad for my meal. Two hearty scoops of chicken salad on a bed of mixed greens with avocados and tomatoes. Really good. Dog friendly and made friends with nearby tables as we watch the NBA eastern finals. Great night capped by an excellent valet parking experience.

great burgers and beers

By arleneb5900 |

great restaurant in the middle of dallas . there is ample parking and ample dining space for diners. I had a great burger and some beer there. great selction of beer there as well. I plan to return . bring an appetite

Fantastic patio

By Narek D |

Right on Dallas' famous Katy Trail, this restaurant has got a huge outdoors patio. Their sandwich/burger menu is pretty standard, but go for their BBQ sandwiches or plates - it's Texas after all.

Mrs

By cookicola |

rudest staff in texas! have never been treated so horrific and horribly. Seriously feel like i’m suffering from ptsd after our family was treated so awfully at the Katy Trail ice House today! Manager is an awful human being and never will i ever return there again. i have never been treated this way, ever. i can’t even put how horrible we were treated into words! The absolute WORST!!!

Deliciousness At It's BEST!

By Doug W. |

My first visit here and the food and atmosphere was amazing. I was fortunate to get the BBQ as they usually run out, and it was amazingly delicious! I had the brisket, turkey and sausage plate and it was some of the best I have ever had, period! Another must...ONION RINGS....you have to get these, as they are some of the best I have ever has as well. They are large, well seasoned and melt in your mouth good. This is a great place and I highly recommend it for lunch or dinner. You will not be disappointed.

The Best Downtown, Downhome Texas Chili, Burgers and Ambiance

By Tom F |

Love this place! Burgers, venison chili, cold beer, fries, classic country music, shade in the summer wood fires in the fall or winter. Eat too much? Walk it off on the Katy Trail, right next to the picnic tables...the best place to eat.

Nice hang out for dog lovers

By Choogi |

This place has a nice casual feel with lots of seating. Dogs are allowed and the restaurant is located just off the Katy Trail. The food and drinks are good too!

Great place for a burger & beer after a 5k on the Katy Trail

By Collene G |

Located in just about mid-point on the Katy Trail, the Ice House is the perfect place to go after running a 5k on the Trail. Of course you will need some nourishment after all the calories burned so do it with their ice cold beer and a burger - I always add an order of fries!

A fun place to sit outdoors and people watch

By Cassy Kerr |

We visited for lunch and sat outside despite the cool weather; thank goodness for the table heaters, and the blankets were a fun addition! We were new to the restaurant and were unsure if we seated ourselves, and no employee noticed us aimlessly walking around; so we finally flagged down a waitress to find out what we were to do. The laid back atmosphere, patrons with their dogs, and the outdoor big screens showing Big XII basketball made for a fun afternoon. I recommend the pulled pork sandwich and a local brew.

Great people watching!

By Karly C |

This is my kind of place! Tons of outdoor seating, beer flowing, and doggos everywhere! The place was packed on the sunny afternoon we stopped by, but that just added to the atmosphere. The actual kitchen was so backed up we couldn't order anything but appetizers from the main menu, which was typical bar food, but they also had (what I think) was a BBQ food truck that was to die for! Awesome smoked turkey, cole slaw, and baked beans. Would recommend this place to anyone who likes people watching and fun outdoor atmospheres!

Great food and workout

By Santiago_Castro |

The Katy Trail is definitely my favorite green space in Dallas, the combination between the trees and the trails, is amazing, plus the buildings around it make a really good view of Dallas Downtown. And just to make it better, the restaurant is great since they have fans that really refresh you plus really good Texan food, definitely a must if you're a runner.

A Picnic

By Randell Carlton Green |

Outdoor seating on wooden benches along with igloo coolers for your water. It felt like being at an outdoor Texas picnic. Burger was good, beer was nice. Solid grade of B.

Just a great place to relax and have fun!

By Joel137 |

In Dallas for business, Katy Trail Ice House was recommended by a friend. I spent three hours in the outside patio enjoying their delicious and large frozen margaritas, nachos and music. Large screen TVs were all over the place, but the music being pa,yes was heard, not the drone of a dogs on premises while I was there. Everyone is friendly and happily shares the opportunity to pat and or play with their dogs. Good food, friendly crowd, tasty, strong drinks and beautiful dogs....for someone who doesn’t spen a long time at a bar when he goes, the fact that I spent over three hours there, shows what a fun relaxed time it can be. Definitely visit the Katy Trail Ice House. You won’t regret it! Joel...Boston, MA

Great atmosphere nonexistent service

By Debbie |

This was my first visit. It was Saturday night and packed, but according to my friend the usual for a Saturday night. We sat at a picnic table to watch the people on the Katy Trail and enjoy the summer evening. After 20 minutes of no server, my friend went to the service station and ask a waitress to come over. Tiffany came and took our drink order and we ordered loaded queso to start. Swirls arrived. Strong and tasty. Perfect for sitting outside enjoying the sights. Queso arrived. Nice size portion. Thank goodness because it would be another 30 minutes before our waitress shows up. Needless to say water glasses were empty, drinks gone and queso devoured. We ordered another round and dinner - brisket plate and grilled cheese with brisket. Love that it is dog friendly. Atmosphere 5 Food 3 Service 0. Will hopefully try again before I leave Dallas.

Tremendous

By Bryce S |

Great place. The food was very tasty, beeritas out of this world and the atmosphere is very laid back. Come watch the game or the people.

Fun atmosphere

By ginajustman |

It is an awsome place to bring your dog or hike to as well. Fun atmosphere! Good drinks and food. Go here a lot!

Was not expecting tacos that good...

By F7J9M |

My group & I stumbled in here after a long day of college football viewing Downtown, but came up here to meet the rest of our group for some food, and I for one was NOT disappointed. The one thing I wasn't too pleased with, but wasn't their fault, was that they sold out of the items on the BBQ menu. Our fault for showing up at roughly 7pm after the place had been packed all day with patrons watching the games, drinking & eating. However, I did get the Smoked Brisket Tacos and wow were they good. My mouth is watering now just thinking of them as I type this... mmmm... they were good. If you order a beer here, be prepared, it going to be a big one so be thirsty. The ambiance of the place was pretty cool too. It was nice out so the whole back open area was packed as well. It seemed to us that this place embodied a Texas-city bar and we loved it, Will definitely be back here for a game when back in town, BUT this time early enough for some BBQ!!!

Great fun

By Tracey-Lee S |

Came here as a work group of 14 and the place was packed on a Saturday afternoon but we soon found a table. Service was excellent drinks and food came quickly and they checked in regularly with us if we needed to order more. Food was fine - quesadilla, burgers, salads. Highlight was having all the awesome pooches around us - I got to drink Texas Mules and play with dogs winning combination!!

A comfortable place to hang out

By J Person |

I am probably past the target age demographic for this place, but it is a fun place to hang out, drink beer and even eat some decent food. First, forget about looking for a convenient parking space. Suck it up and use the valet--save yourself time and limit your stress. Your next big decision is to sit inside or out. The inside can be more comfortable during Dallas summers, and marginally less loud. However, the outside has a lot of ambience and larger tables. The staff is uniformly helpful and quick to fill up drinks. The beers are gloriously large and cold. The food is actually pretty good for what it is--straight up bar food. The chips and dips are good and nice-sized. The burgers are juicy, served with a bunch of fries, and the BBQ options are pretty good. There is even a Portobello mushroom (vegetarian) burger. This last time I had the turkey BBQ sandwich, a lot of meat between smallish slices of bread, served with a sweet, spicy sauce on the side, garlicky coleslaw and charro beans, flavorful, side serving portions in Styrofoam. The turkey was smoky and not dry at all. About $12, not too bad a deal. This is a fun place to sit and relax with friends, drinks and some food..

Rude and long waits even if tables were empty

By Nav |

Seems they have a preference for folks who can get quick table. Food is average and seating folks are rude.

Great food and excellent service

By MonicaNarducci |

The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that is always so busy. But despite wait for seating, service is great and the bbq is out of this world. Something for everyone. We take friends here when in town and the grandkids on weekends.

Went for dinner and kitchen closed before stated dinner hours, very disappointed. Usually enjoy the food and atmosphere but wasn't able to on this Sunday evening.

Great Hang out. Amazing food

By RVRentalConnection |

Katy Trail Ice House is an amazing concept. It's a huge restaurant with a gigantic outdoor section (as well as their indoor bar and restaurant area). They allow dogs, have games, you can even jog in from the back trail and cozy up to their coffee stand in the morning. My favorite thing to order is the "bottle caps." sliced jalapeños, breaded and fried, served with dipping sauces. Of course you want to order a local craft beer or a Cadillac margarita from the bar to accompany your bottle caps. They have full lunch and dinner menus. Love this place.

Great outdoor seating

By COBowden |

I went there with a large group, they had plenty of seating for all of us. Food was good, large portions. This place is also pet friendly, so we got to visit with some furry friends. Our waitress took good care of our rowdy group, definitely recommend for a casual meal and some excellent atmosphere.

Fun, Relaxing Atmosphere for All to Enjoy + Dogs!

By Irene |

Great place to stop and have a cold one! Located right on the Katy Trail, lots of picnic table seating, super casual and dogs are invited. The beer comes in a cold large goblet type of glass and there is a large list from which to choose. They offer food, but we didn't eat. Fun place to relax. Bike or walk the trail and stop in. If you drive, parking is limited on site, but you can find a place in the area.

Good beer.

By Tyson B |

Good quick in for beer and burger. Nice atmosphere. Music is a little loud for casual conversation. Good micro brew beer.

Yes, go here.

By Deb M |

This place is fairly busy all day Saturday and quite large. They smoke their meats all night and when they sell out, they sell out. So don’t delay! The smoked turkey, brisket and ribs were all amazing. The beers are cold and served in Margarita glasses. Step off the Katy Trail or pull up to the valet and park (or if you’re like us, find a spot on the street). Ample indoor seating plus a ton of outdoor seating, which is shady; and the entire area has misters. Whether you’re just there to cool off with a drink or having lunch with your family, it’s worth the stop.

Great place

By CraigwsEr |

Visited as we wanted something relaxed and some of the locals recommended. The place was buzzing with people who had been out for walks or with their dogs. Great beers, nice to be outside. Awesome chips and dip. Burger with venison chilli was excellent as were the onion rings. Very friendly service. A great night out

Great food and hospitality

By Voyager52562598459 |

I came here while driving through Dallas. I quickly looked up dog friendly restaurants on bring Fido website and this one came up. I’m so glad we stopped! It was such a great cool location. I was greeted by a whole staff at the door and they kindly sat us. Weather was perfect so obviously that helps. The waitress gave great recommendations on food and drinks. Great bbq. I also had fajita salad which was filling and delicious. The queso could have used some salt. Margs were great and strong. Wish I lived close so I could go there regularly.

Great rustic pub feel, top burgers (no bbq mon-thurs)

By Brett B |

We came here while visiting Dallas briefly after hearing that they had the best bbq - only to learn that they only have it from Thursday to Sunday. The waitress explained that there isn't enough call for it during the week, which is perfectly understandable. We had already ordered a beer which came in a huge frosty glass goblet - sensational! Given the time it was going to be kind of a rush to go somewhere else for BBQ we decided to have a jalapeno jack burger each with coleslaw. This was probably the best decision we made all day! Wow - what a burger!! Thin bun (which is our favourite - we don't want to fill up on bread), superbly cooked burger patty, tomato, onions, and what seems like home made crispy dill pickles - just wow. It's refreshing not to have to have fries with everything and so having some crisp coleslaw as the side (our choice - you can order fries if you want) was awesome. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful and the service was perfectly timed. The place is great and lots of people even for a Tuesday, the patio/outdoor seating area outside was beautifully done with heaters above each table and a wood fire style heater pit in the middle - very southern and beautiful. Would love to come back here in the summer to experience the outdoor area without needing a heater. Three beers each, an amazing burger with coleslaw - all for $55USD. Very reasonable!! Also super fast free wifi.

Happy Hour

By pinsonthemap |

This is such a great outdoor place to enjoy a happy hour! The service is top notch and drinks and food are very good. You just can’t beat the ambiance here. Will definitely come back.

Picnic on steroids!

By gdane99 |

Had a wonderful lunch on a slightly cool February day. They had the fire pits going and the music was up! The atmosphere was really laid back and eclectically fit. Lots of people hitting the hike and bike... Lots of cute puppies! The Sangria was awesome, food plentiful. I had the chili, the hubs had the patty melt which was great and my daughter had grilled cheese... But requested that pickles be on the side and not in the sammich. 😁 Overall, this was a great place tucked away in the heart of the growing world of condos.

Good at any time

By Allegra L |

Dog friendly patio, good for brunch, lunch, and dinner, but also for late night drinks! The music is not too loud, so you can still have good conversations with your friends. Finding a table could be challenging at some times of the day

Great outside eating, unpretentious, good bbq

By Weidspeed |

I've eaten here a couple of times and enjoyed it each time. From brisket to pulled pork, sausage, and turkey ... it's all good. While a good deal of gen-u-ine bbq places pull out sliced white bread (closer to what my mom used to do versus homemade), the homemade bread (or what sure tasted like homemade) was a nice addition. The only reason it's 4 stars -- and my friends would give me total grief for this -- while I love meat, I really appreciate when I can get a sweet potato and green beans or something that won't kill me (even though delicious) as a side dish.

Not every football game will be on.

Came to watch the football games while visiting family in the dallas area, that are advertised as a TV for every game.but strangley the manager on duty would not turn on the Cincinnati Bengals game and when I asked if it was going to come one the manager mumbled his respone.everyone I know of I will let them know that your establishment is not what it seems to be.i work in the automotive industry, specifically for ford the auto company and I can't wait to let people know what kind of service you provide.if your mumbling manager is the face of your establishment then ive got to warn people on how they spend their time and money at your resturant/bar.

Terrible Service But Fun Place To Dine

By Dave S |

First time visit to KT Ice House. Walking up, it lived up to what I heard. Giant, mostly outdoor, dirt floor dining area. Heard you must be aggressive to get a table and that was right too. Saw some people get up, jumped on the un-bussed table. And this was on a Sunday around dinner time. Lots of tables and seats and all were full. We bussed out tabled and waited for our server. Finally one came and took our drink order. We were a table of 5, all 5 having beverages but only 4 were dining. Drinks finally arrived and our server said food should be out shortly. Our dining order was extremely simple...2 grilled chicken salads and 2 hotdogs/fries. We probably waited for 30 minutes to get 2 of our meals, the salads. Then another 10 minutes to get the dogs. Server was scarce and really didn't see her much to check on us. Took forever to get our bill and forever to get our cc documents to sign. The place is fun, many tv's around. Dogs every where. Lots of people hanging out and having a good time. If you are driving, plan on parking out a ways and hoofing. Once you get to the Katy Trail, pretty easy walk. If it wasn't for the below average service, we'd of had a perfect evening.

Great place to watch the world go by

By Johnghartley |

One of my favourite spots in Dallas. The food is good and the frozen margaritas while watching the world go by on the Katy trail is amazing.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff

By Rose P |

We stopped here to sit outside for drinks while walking our friends' dogs on the Katy Trail. Dog-friendly, nice clientele, good service. Highly recommended.

Must Visit for first timers in Dallas

By Jenna W |

This is my goto place to take people coming to Dallas for the first time. The atmosphere is laid back, fun, and good for young people/adults. Many beer options. Misters during the hot months.

good outdoors place.

By tylermo3 |

Good place to eat and drink period, and an added bonus that its dog friendly if you want to bring your best friend !

The perfect patio

By Murr12 |

This place has a great breakfest soft taco for one. They open early which is another bonus so mimosas or vodka and juices are a must Saturday's or Sunday's in the morning. To top it off you can bring your dogs there so not only can you drink eat in the sun you can also bring your best buddy with you! It's the one place I would recommend visiting in Dallas!

A great place to stop on the Katy Trail

By danrS2069SL |

Choose your place to sit and the waitress will be there shortly. The menu is on the table with the extra napkins. This place is busy especially in nice weather as most of the seating is shaded and outdoors. They have burgers and booze. They are very welcoming and expect to see people who have brought their dogs and sitting near them will be men in business suits.. The service can be a little slow even though the waitresses never slow down. They got the orders right and the food was hot when it came out.

Indoor and outdoor no fuss eating place

By Brendan |

I went here after a nice walk on the Katy Trail. They had a great selection of beers. Community Brewery Mosaic is recommended. There is an indoor bar with big screens showing a variety of sports. The outside was very busy with typical bench seating. The food as great and was delivered quickly. Highly recommend this place.

My hangout

By Drun |

Great ambience and a pet friendly hangout. Perfect for groups. Love the outdoor seating - they have heaters in the winters and coolers in the summer. Am a regular here and service can be very slow for the first order. Once a waitress attends to you, the food and drinks flow well. Order their fries - they are to die for. Love the BLT.... goes well with the Blood & Honey Revolver beer.

Summer beer + Cheeseburger = Life

By Paige K |

I was in Dallas in August for girls weekend and we came to Katy Trail Ice House on Sunday after brunch. The place was bumping. Super fun / chill atmosphere (like all the reviews said) Let's just talk about the summer beer / cheeseburger combination I had. Summer beer is blue moon and lemonade and so tasty time. Pair that with a large cheese burger and some fries and you are all set for a casual Sunday mid afternoon. I honestly could have sat there all day and just hung out.

This restaurant has gone down hill.

By Andrew |

I never thought I would have to post this nut here we are…I’ve loved ice house for years, it has been the one of the best places to come on a nice Dallas day! However and sadly, the management staff has been incredibly rude. My newly engaged couple friends who were in our party wer celebrating their engagement, and several of us brought gifts for them, which happened to contain sealed bottles of champagne in gift wrap (as is natural for a celebration). The staff refused to let anyone bring these types of gifts into the restaurant, stating (inaccurately) it was “illegal”, despite us doing this at COUNTLESS other restaurants. Katy Trail Ice House was also very rude about this. We had an attorney in our party for Dallas County in our party, who confirmed this is not illegal and that the staff were lying directly to us, the customers. Beyond that, we had a bench table on the corner, and had used a chair from a nearby party that was not using it nor where they the duration and beyond of our stay. After 3 hours of using the chair without issue, we were approached rudely and aggressively by 3 staff members instructing us, to put the chair back. The guest using chair had already tabbed out with his check visibly in front of him for the staff to clearly see, but they were adamant. We put the chair back, and then the front door staff came back again and moved it next to a tree, where it could not even be utilized for other guests to use. Our waitresses were both fantastic, however our experience was sadly ruined by the front of house staff and management. Even our waitress agreed that they have had consistent issues with their front of house staff. It's common knowledge that the service has severely nosed dived here, but we have always attempted to defend it. Sadly, I now have to agree after this unacceptable and easily avoidable experience.

Best Bar

Best Bar I've ever been to. Everything is so cool, best staff and unbelievable selection of food and drink. Great tv screens, patio, music, fun staff and then there's the picture of Willie

Great place to drink

By Johnghartley |

Great place to sit and have a few drinks. On a sunny day, their ice cold beers are incredible. Food is good and it’s a great place to people watch for a few hours on the Katy trail.

Love this place

By Nanamama4236 |

I have been here when I come and visit my daughter. I love it, you can sit out or go in. Dogs are welcome. I love the nachos with brisket meat. It has so much flavor. I think my favorite by far.

Great Beer Garden

By Phillip K |

Fun! Open air place to meet friends, meet new friends and relax. All the best beers at reasonable prices. You gotta try the cheese fries, the brisket quesadilla and the burger. If you are not in the mood for fun, this is not your place.

Awful service

By Sharon L |

Very rude waitresses, mediocre food and they do not seem to care about customers at all. Hard pass, will NEVER set foot here again.

Great concept but don’t expect much..

By Kay G |

Great concept and very cool setting but service and execution could be significantly improved.... a win for the clients and for their business. The drinks are decent but service is slow, orders were incorrect, lots of different people delivering drinks and food with no accountability for follow through. If they were organized could have doubled our bill with food and drinks but we left disappointed and frustrated.

Try the queso

By nicole_chelli |

Food is good. The first time we went our waitress was not at all friendly and definitely did not appreciate her but I have since been back twice and the service was better. The Loaded Queso is amazing and that is coming from someone who does not like queso. Be warned though the nachos literally only come with SIX CHIPS!! It was such a disappointment when we came with a big group of friends to split 6 chips. The onion rings come with either 3 or 5 big rings - work server this time around was nice enough to let us know ahead of time of this. The beers are as advertised, cold. And prices are average. Fun outdoor area with lots of TVs to watch sports games.

In the HOUSE!!!!

By Brian H |

I really enjoyed this place. Came here on a Sunday for brunch! Just so happened they had the BBQ working, SCORE!! I think we all ordered the same thing "burnt end sandwich". It was out of this WORLD!!! So hot and delicious, my mouth is watering as I type this!!! They also serve fries (a la carte) that were great! The slaw had a nice vinegar base which tasted great with the mayo that they use! I took my buddies recommendation and ordered the summer beer which is a few different types of liquor, but the important thing is that it is super refreshing!!! You will be glad you got this! Service was quick and spot on! Mel was our server and she rocked!

Fun times

Came in with some friends for a drink or two and a bite of food. The food was amazing and the beers were cold. Great way to spend the day

Great patio, music, and beers!

By Mva07 |

This is one of the best patios in Dallas, right off the Katy Trail. Their beer selection is amazing, and service is great! Parking can be difficult depending on when you go, but they do have valet. Enjoy!

Not fun

By Linda H |

Too many rules... so ridiculous use to be a fun afternoon. I can see placing rules after a certain time..but a food truck that requires a food purchase to buy a beer especially when you're waiting on a table to eat. Of note this is the only way you can have a beer prior to your table being ready.

By Sreejith S |

Great experience with outdoor dining. Excellent service. Loved the ambience even though it's crowded. Would have been 5 star rating of the was more choice for food.

Just don’t go there

By Tim |

It’s my daughter’s wedding weekend and this place ruined it!!! Rude service and all about the dollar! A wedding party ready to spend several thousand dollars and this arrogant joint is rude?! Too many options in Dallas and metro to go here again. Please, don’t waste ur time and hard earned money.yes, I’m a hurt Daddy. But passionate to write this!!!

Must stop in

By Dan C |

Very cool vibe, inside and out. We did not eat, but drinks were great! Looking forward to visiting when it is a warmer month. The fires and heaters kept us warm though.

Super fun indoor and outdoor casual space

By Lisa B |

Great place to have something cold to drink and good BBQ served in authentic casual BBQ style. Plenty of options for non bbq fans. Adjacent to a cycling trail. Lots of tvs - was a great place to grab lunch and watch some world cup games. Not fancy. If you are looking for upscale this isn't it. If you are looking for fun backyard feel with a group - this is your spot.

Visited after long walk on the trail.

By Alan S |

Stopped by for a beer and a sandwich after a long walk on the trail. Large beer selection. Chose a local IPA on draft and had the ahi tuna sandwich. Also ordered the jalapeño bottle caps. Excellent corn meal fried jalapeños and the ahi was perfectly seared served on a nice brioche with slaw and a tasty aioli. Lots of outdoor seating. Dog friendly. We went inside (it was cold outside) and there were plenty of TV screens to keep you occupied.

Great day to be outside

By Mikeyveck |

On a nice day you can't beat sitting outside, drinking a beer, chatting with your friends as people go by you on the trail. This place has a great vibe. I'd recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

A WANDERING TEXAN AMONG THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE

By Hart |

A place to see and be seen. Parking is impossible, even when you valet. Watch out for the Lambo's, Porches, etc.,they have priority. Good luck on finding a seat. All in all, just a hangout for the young, beautiful, hip and trendy. If your young and beautiful, it's your kind of place.

Relax..Enjoy

Great food and Good Beer !! You can't go wrong with this spot. Thank you for reserving a table for 25. We had a great time. It might be Outdoor but with the fans going your as comfortable as can be. Great service!! Ashley was on point making sure everyone was topped off at all times. Thank you for being on your game. Parking is not a problem with Valet. They have an indoor and outdoor restrooms for your convience and they are pet friendly. FYI ...Kids are welcome til 8pm. Remember this is an IceHouse people. Helpful staff made Ashely's job a lot easier, I would also like to thank them. We will be back!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Outdoor beer garden! Beer and fried jalapeno slices!

By a-travelin-foodie |

What a fabulous find! Beer and burgers in a super casual outdoor atmosphere - a nice stop as you take a long walk along the Katy Trail - and your dog comes with you! Shared picnic tables, lots of blowing cool fans and misters if it's hot outside, older country and folk music playing over the speakers the day we were there. Ice cold beer in heavy mugs that keep it cold. Really - some of the best fried jalapeno slices (bottlecaps) ever - they stayed crispy and hot the whole time. They tasted like they might have been kept in vinegar, not sliced fresh that day, but that actually takes some of the heat out, so everyone can enjoy. Skip the "summer beer" - a $4 surcharge to add lemonade and ice to your $7 beer. Reminds me of the old outdoor dance halls and ice houses around San Antonio and South Texas. Very busy - folks out enjoying the weekend.

Nice outdoor dining

By Ron S |

Three of us arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 2:00 for a late lunch. We were expecting a huge crowd and a wait, but we got right in. We sat outside under the big shady trees, and it was quite pleasant. Server was there immediately and took our drink orders. Nice selection of craft beers was available. The beers were brought out quickly after ordering. It is time to retire those very heavy, clumsy glass goblets, in my opinion. A classic pint glass will do, thanks. Menu was pretty extensive and covered all the bases, burgers, nachos, tacos, etc. We ordered two burgers and a BLT. Food was delivered quickly and was very good. The french fries are well done and the house chips are as well. My companion's BLT had no B on it. The server was notified, and a replacement sandwich was delivered quickly. Patio is dog friendly, service was great, and it is a great place to hang, drink a few beers, and people watch. Worth a visit.

Great place on the Trail

By MW3 |

An excellent selection of cold beer, and great bar food right on the Katy Trail! There’s an indoor restaurant, but the outside patio is fantastic; it was chilly outside all three days I went, and there were fires going that kept it fairly warm. It’s only a short walk to Turtle Creek Park too.

A nice enough spot

By cindyhasitall |

I am not from this area, so some friends who are took me here to get a feel for the area. I happen to be a real big dog lover, and they really accommodate the pet lovers.it is located right on a walk, jog, running path. Makes it a super spot for a cold beverage and bite to eat. The beer was cold. However, our waitress was either really over worked or she forgot or overlooked us on several occasions. Would I go back? Possibly but only for nachos and a beer.

Draft beer

By Rafael T |

Great place to stop and have a cold beer. They have a huge variety of draft beers and serve it in big glasses!

Sunday Brunch

By mewyand |

Wait for a table was really bad since we saw several tables open for a really long time. Our waiter was not that great - took forever to get water and coffee; there appeared to be wait/busers/staff everywhere but just walking around or talking amongst themselves than actually working. The brunch itself was good. I don't think I would go back for brunch again - if there for beer and a show and sitting out back, I'd go.

It's a Young People's Game...

By Penny J |

But great to take a pet, sit outside and have a cocktail and some grub (typical bar type food) and possibly go for a walk on the train. Nothing special but certainly not a place to avoid.

Didn’t allow us to use the restroom without leaving our phones behind

By Braiden B |

Don’t go here if you need to use the restroom as a paying guest. We paid and tipped at the coral area, had a table on that side of the restaurant and tried to use the restroom inside the main area. We were told to leave our phone in a bowl for collateral. We weren’t comfortable with leaving our phones behind so we offered our purse, ID, house keys ANYTHING to show them we were coming back to our table on the other side. They wouldn’t allow us to use the restroom bc we didn’t want to leave our phones. They mocked us on the way out. We called and spoke with the manager who hung up on us and mocked us as well. Horrible.

Love the wild game available!

By K8eros |

And I'm not referring to the customers! They offer a wonderful selection of wild game dishes like venison chili! Which is yummy! They're burgers are some of the best in the area and one of the things I love most about the Ice House is that they are pet friendly! Water bowls all around!!!!

I love this place

By Jim F |

The food is great. I especially like the atmosphere. The outdoor seating along the Katy Trail is fun and relaxing. Always a game on on their many television sets. This oasis in the middle of uptown Dallas reminds me of the Texas Hill Country bear gardens. Recommend the hamburgers and onion rings.

Lauren S is AWESOME!!!

By D S |

Hi! Your patio server on 7/1 Lauren S was fantastic. I've been here before and had average/mediocre service. Lauren S blew my mind, literally. She actually cares and came over to check on us more than I've ever experienced before. It was perfect. The first time I came here I waited 40 minutes to get my beer. Lauren S made sure our orders were in and delivered super fast. You need more servers like Lauren S!!!!! I will return and ask for her going forward. She is now the only reason I will pick your patio over competitors going foreword. Amazing service, super friendly... THANK YOU LAUREN S!!!!!!

Get there early, enjoy the Dog Friendly Atmosphere and have the Brisket Tacos

By Rob_KC |

Spent the week end in Dallas with our dog and decided to walk the Katy Trail on Saturday morning. We started at the Knox Ave entrance (Marker 119) and were ready for a break when we saw the Ice House up ahead. It was about 11:15 AM on a perfect day and the place was already getting busy. We grabbed a table and the waitress came by soon after for our order. We started with a cold beer - which was served promptly- and then decided to share the 2 Brisket Taco Platter which comes with Charo Beans and Salsa. If you like Tacos and Brisket, this meal is for you!!! The place is very dog friendly although not all humans take the time to train their dogs so your experience can vary. We had a couple dogs nearby that were well behaved so our experience was great but there were a couple people that could not keep theirs under control and I don't think those nearby enjoyed the experience as well as we did. In one case the waitress told the people to get their dog under control and they left soon after - good job by the wait staff!!! Despite getting busier as we sat there, our waitress checked up on us as we enjoyed our tacos and beer. BTW, this place has the only bathrooms on the Katy Trail and as the place gets busier, the line can get pretty long. When we left, the place was perhaps 70% full. When we came back by after going to the end of the trail and back at 1:30 or so, the line to get in was probably 50-75 deep. As I said, stop by early!!!

Great indoor/outdoor venue for drinks

By kthomasec |

Came here after the Mavs game one night and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The server was super attentive and we always had a fresh drink when needed. Lots of TVs and tons of space inside and out.

This place is a must go for football on Sunday

By David J |

I was blown away with how awesome this place is. We went for lunch on Sunday and the place was packed, but a good packed. We had a great waitress and the food came out quick and was great! The atmosphere is basically a huge backyard party with a lot of football fans and TV's everywhere. Food selection is limited and catered towards a bar crowd. I will definitely be back.

BBQ sold out

By GeorgeG1947 |

Came here because I heard they had great BBQ. Got here at 8 on a Saturday night. After receiving our drinks a got ready to place our food order the waitress tells us they are out of BBQ. She says they run out every night around 8. This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. So beware if you are coming here for BBQ.

Worse experience ever!!

By Harrison G |

Service is terrible and waitstaff is rude!! First we had to go to the bar after our food was delivered and ask for plates and napkins. We never received those and after waiting for over 20 minutes we ended up having to go to the bar to order drinks. The waitress who was new and confrontational threw a fit and cried. The food was mediocre and I can tell the place is going downhill because noone was there. Could be a good atmosphere and has been in the past but too many bad vibes and too many rules (Not letting you pull tables together for a larger crowd eventhough we had 9 people and noone was there.) We have gone here for years but things have changed and this establishment is going downhill. Don't waste your time or money!! Food terrible and so is service!

Great stop on Katy trail!

By LindeDK |

We love this place, very time we go walking on the Katy trail we stop here. There is a nice atmosphere and they have very good maragarita's! There food is also very good, try to get a hold of the BBQ before it runs out. It can be very busy on the weekends though...

Great patio and ambiance

By shearpamela |

Food and atmosphere were great, it has an Austin vibe we loved. Our waitress was bitchy but despite that negative attitude we will definitely go back ❤️

Chill atmosphere

Covid deniers. Go somewhere who believes in science and cares about people. Rude management. Don’t go here.

WORST!

By Lara K |

Me and my husband and friends were spending time together at the Katy Trail. We had a good time until the bus boys and security came over for no reason and kicked us out. We were so offended and disrespected. I will never go there again!

Great place

By Mark H |

Today was my first visit to the Ice House. I've been by it many times while on the Katy Trail but never stopped in. They have a large selection of craft beers and I had a great beer that I've never tried before. They have a great indoor seating area with an even better outdoor patio. The patio is shaded with a lot of misting fans. Wasn't very impressed with the cheese burger but have to give the Ice House 4 stars for the large selection of craft beers and the great patio. Highly recommend.

Great area for hanging out!

By AtlantaHawaiigirl |

The Katy Trail Icehouse is tucked away in Dallas and is an excellent place to hang out with friends and have some drinks! It’s a very laid back atmosphere and they have misting fans to help beat the high temperatures. Lots of trees provide shade and an all around fun place to go with friends. You can ride scooters near here and make an afternoon of it! Highly recommend this place! Can’t wait to go back again!

Get your workout on the Katy Trail, then get a beer & good food too!

By Rodger R |

Everything is big in Texas. Big Beer and sandwich (not pictured). We had the sliced brisket bbq and it was everything you could want in a good ole' bar-b-que. That beer garden holds hundreds of people, but it never felt crowded or out of control. Pets are welcome and there are plenty of people passing bye on the Katy Trail exercising. We did that as well and found this great piece of history. Ask your waiter or waitress about it! I will return someday.

Awful service

By Coreen H |

Had lunch here 10/3/16 server rude. Ordered 2 draft beers one very cloudy one looked good. Server just said they are the same beers just drink them they are fine. Totally ignored during the entire time. Server seemed less than interested in my table as I was an inconvienance. Won't visit again.

Fun and relaxing!

Good beer outside by the Katy Trail with good food plus our dog! Some live music to bring smiles and fine relaxation. The service was quick, often but very casual. Been there twice and the brats are awesome!

Outside dining at its Best!

By wwfrench |

Very fun outside casual dining beside the Katy trail. Picnic tables sprawl all around, TVs everywhere with sports showing! Very pet friendly with many cute dogs around. The food selection is mostly bar food , but it’s good. Great selection of beer on tap! The area is all shaded and just a great place to be!

Three families Dinner

By Shadi A |

We were walking along the trail and stopped at the Katy Trail Ice House. We sat outside and it was very comfortable due to the fans with water drizzles. He BBQ variety were very limited due to the timing in the day. The starters were great especially the jalapeños and nachos. Some of us had hamburgers, others the Sausage BBQ. We all enjoyed our food. The beer selection was great especially the Texan ones. It is recommended when you are visiting Katy trail, but mind you DO NOT COUNT THE CALORIES. Just enjoy a cheat day.

Sunday Brunch

This restaurant/bar Is right off of the Katy Bike/Walking/Running 7 mile trial. A great place to bring your dog outside or go inside for airconditioning and TVs. The bar has more that 50 different beers on tap. We ordered the breakfast tocos and chili. The food was very good and servers were also very friendly. Just a great place to kick back and have fun!

Very nice place if you like a beer garden athmosphere. This style is pure Texas and is for families and friends !

Must visit for location and atmosphere!

By Kaitlyn A |

The atmosphere is exciting, relaxing, and unique. The outdoor seating area is larger so you have multiple options for where you want to sit. It is very well shaded and there are a lot of fans! It’s a casual place to hang outside and it’s connected to Katy Trail. There were a lot of dogs, families, and friends hanging out on a nice day.

So good for a hot day!

Me and my boyfriend are fist timers in Dallas and decided to walk on the Katy trial. We were delighted to come across this bar - it's got a great ambience, attentive staff and most importantly ice cold drinks!

Nice spot for a casual hangout

By Anita |

We stumbled upon this place by chance, and were pleasantly surprised! Really good place to enjoy a beer with friends in a very casual setting. The prices are aligned with Dallas ($6-7 for each beer), but I felt like the glasses were bigger than usual. We also got loaded fries: they were $15, which is quite a lot, but the portion was so big that we ended up sharing them within 4 people, so in the end it is kind of okay.

Can’t wait for our next visit!

We just love this venue, and will be back with a much bigger group for our 2nd visit. Plenty of seating inside & out. Lots of fans, misters and shade—so we were comfortable outside even in the heat. Service and BBQ were excellent. My favorite is their coleslaw. If you are a fan, be sure to give it a try.

A great place to Hang out and watch football

By Brett C |

When in Dallas check out Katy Trail Ice House the sports bar is located on Katy Trail and a great place to hang out relax have a few beers and watch football. The food and service at this restaurant was top-notch their wait staff is very attentive and knows there menu very well. You also can step outside and enjoy a very relaxed environment that is pet friendly. There beers come in a very nice size chilled chalice. In the fire pits and fireplaces make it a very fun environment to relax and enjoy friends or just observe people...

Dusty boots

This place is a dust bowl! Avoid wearing all white here at all costs! Good drinks though, drink fast so you don’t get any dust in it.

Beverage fun

By Dennis B |

This is primarily an outdoor hangout spot. The cold beer and other beverage choices are good. Many people bring their dogs. It is quite a strong scene for people and dogs. It is a great way to spend a Friday afternoon assuming you enjoy cold beer and people watching.

Terrible food, drinks and service but great atmosphere!

By PatG |

I have been here before and the atmosphere is great, especially on a spring day when the weather is good. Last time we visited we thought the Sangria was fantastic. This time, not so much. The Sangria was flavorless and the margarita that I ordered was a glass of mixer in the rocks, I’m pretty sure there was no alcohol in the drink at all. The quesadilla that we ordered was alright. However, the chips were stale that were served with the guacamole. We received our quesadilla a good 15 minutes before we got the chips and guacamole and getting service was nearly impossible. We will still go back for the atmosphere.

Worst staff in DFW

If you've ever wondered how it feels to be in prison, visit the Katy Trail Ice House! The guys working the front door apparently couldn't make it in to law enforcement so they get off on being the "man in charge" here: barking orders at customers, degrading them, and just generally treating folks like they're not human beings. On a slow afternoon where there were loads of free tables, I was in a group that had reserved a table and we were given one that was too small. We asked our server if we could pull up an extra chair and she said we couldn't because "our head of security is working today and he's really scary". Then as more members of our group arrived, several of them were intimidated and harassed by this man. My wife was reduced to tears after he berated her in front of the whole line of people at the door and wouldn't allow her inside. Then another couple in their 60's were denied entrance as well. Keep in mind these people hadn't violated dress code, acted entitled, or done anything wrong whatsoever, they just had the audacity to ask to join our group that had been seated already. Looking through the reviews now, I can see the door guys engage in this behavior constantly. When your restaurant is getting numerous bad reviews for a single reason, you'd think management would have done something about it but obviously they don't care and are fine with their patrons having a miserable, humiliating time.

Very Happily Surprised

Excellent list of beer, liquor and wine. Food was great as well. Known for their burgers and they did not disappoint. Nachos were also excellent.

Great time! HUGE outdoor patio.

Great time! HUGE outdoor patio. Great atmosphere and vibe. Lots of people though. Get there early if you don’t want to wait in line.

This visit was off

By Monica64_12 |

We love coming here to eat, drink the coldest beer around and watch and walk the Katy Trail. The visit here this past Saturday was just off. I had a BBQ sandwich and shared onion rings with my hubby. There was so much pepper in my food I could hardly eat it. I will come back because we love coming here, and hopefully they won't have dropped the pepper shaker into the food.

Great environment

By guitardude9587 |

If you enjoy being outdoors on a nice spring or fall day, this is the place to go. Tons of outdoor seating, great environment, and lots of dogs. Great place to catch up with friends, but it is often packed and a very lively environment.

How is this place so popular?

By A47 |

I understand that when you are a busy place you are not able to pay attention to every single person, but you should still be nice to a customer. I had one of the rudest people I have ever met serve me my drink and I just about walked off without paying. The place is nice because it is outdoors and Dallas doesn't have a lot of those kinds of places, but I would rather sit inside or deal with uptown than come back here.

Vacation/ business stop over

A great place for the younger generation to hang out. Not a lot of seniors but lots of dogs. Parking seems impossible but they do provide valet parking for tips only. Makes it very nice because you get front door service. Seating at Friday dinner is near impossible. Persistence and patience are a virtue because the food and ambience are well worth the wait. Menu can be confusing, you may want to confirm prices when ordering so your not shocked when the bill comes. Access to Katy trail is directly connected to the outside area of the restraunt. A great place too exercise off a great meal or just hang out and watch the people and dogs. I had the Cadillac margarita and it was delicious. We also had barbecue briscut and Turkey. I had the brat with the kraut on the side. Very good as well. Entertaining just watching the people and the dogs.
